Curry is expected to be out of action for at least a fortnight after suffering a grade one sprain of his medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee. DENVER -- Colorado Rockies right-hander Chad Bettis hopes to be back on the mound for spring training after being diagnosed with testicular cancer.Bettis said in a statement that he underwent surgery on Nov. 29 to have a testicle removed after bloodwork revealed an abnormality. Bettis added that doctors are confident the cancer was isolated and hasnt spread.I was completely caught off guard by my diagnosis, but have subsequently found that the vast majority of cases occur in men 20 to 40 years of age, and that the survival rate is 99 percent when contained and caught early, Bettis said in the statement released through his agent, Matt Sosnick. This only reinforces my belief that each of us needs to be totally in tune with our own physical health, and that taking action sooner than later when we feel like something is off can sometimes literally be the difference between life and death. The news was first reported by ESPN. The Rockies wished him well on the teams Twitter account as he works toward a return for spring training in February. My understanding is that I will be physically ready to have a normal spring training, and I greatly look forward to the upcoming season, Bettis said. The Rockies and the MLBPA have been great, and I truly appreciate the care and support shown by (general manager) Jeff Bridich to both me and my family. The 27-year-old Bettis was 14-8 with a 4.79 ERA last season. He figures to be an integral part of the 2017 starting rotation under first-year Colorado manager Bud Black.Bettis was a second-round pick by the Rockies in 2010. Bradley Bozeman Jersey . Posted in IYH Forums by jokergreen0220 at 09:48, Feb 28 2020

Among the knocks this summer against Big 12 expansion has been that bringing in a school from outside the traditional Power 5 would just dilute the league on the field.Which would seem to make sense. After all, one program that is outside the Big 12, for example, has won just six games in the past three seasons. It hasnt finished a season ranked since 2003 and has enjoyed a double-digit winning season just once, well, ever. That particular profile, however, doesnt square up with that of Big 12 expansion hopefuls BYU or Houston. Nor does it match Central or South Florida. In fact, it doesnt even fit Tulane. The school in question is Purdue, obviously not an expansion candidate, but a member of the Big Ten since before Teddy Roosevelt became president. And on football reputation alone, the Boilermakers dont stack up against many of the candidates the Big 12 is considering for expansion.Several points do, however, hold up when arguing against Big 12 expansion.Proximity and logistics, for one. Cincinnati; Orlando, Florida; and Provo, Utah, are all a thousand-plus miles from the Big 12 offices in Dallas. Such a marriage would create travel and scheduling complications for the conference.Specific candidates have their distinct downsides off the field, as well. Memphis doesnt boast a strong academic reputation. Connecticut struggles to draw fans to its stadium. BYU doesnt compete on Sundays and now has LGBT groups protesting its candidacy over the schools honor code. But the premise that expansion would absolutely dilute the Big 12 product on the field doesnt hold much water.Look no further than last weeks Associated Press all-time college football rankings. Instead of simply falling back on conventional perceptions, the AP relied solely on statistics and used poll appearances, No. 1 rankings and AP championships to compile its list.As a result, BYU came in at No. 34 on the AP ranking, which placed the Cougars ahead of 32 Power 5 programs. At 49th, Houston was slotted ahead of 19 Power 5 schools. As the AP poll underscored, BYU and Houston, especially, have thrived on the field, both in the past and in the present -- including relative to many of their Power 5 cohorts.Since 1980, only Ohio State, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Florida State, Florida and Miami have won more games than BYU, and the Buckeyes (first), Sooners (second), Cornhuskers (sixth), Seminoles (ninth), Gators (10th) and Hurricanes (13th) all placed in the top 15 of the APs all-time ranking. BYU also captured the national championship in 1984 -- something just 29 other schools have ever accomplished in the history of the sport. But even as college football autonomy has produced a wider gap between the Power 5 and everyone else financially in recent years, BYU has remained stout. Over the past decade, the Cougars have collected wins over Oregon, Utah, TCU, Arizona, UCLA, Washington, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Ole Miss, Washington State, Georgia Tech, Texas, Virginia, Cal and Nebraska.By comparison, the Boilermakers have only two wins over ranked opponents in that span. Fellow Big Ten member Illinois claims just four. Minnesota has three. Indiana has two. And Maryland and Rutgers have yet to record such a victory since joining the Big Ten.Conversely, Houston has four top-25 victories in 2015 alone, capped with a 38-24 romp over ninth-ranked Florida State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in December.Thats not the only area the Big 12 expansion candidates stack up well.During the past decade, Houston, South Florida, Central Florida, BYU, Cincinnati and Boise State have all been ranked in the top 10 of the polls at least once.Neither Duke, Syracuse, North Carolina State, Wake Forest nor Virginia can claim such a distinction from the ACC. The same goes for Washington, Washington State and Colorado in the Pac-12.Shortly after the Big 12 announced it would explore expansion last month and that it had authorized commissioner Bob Bowlsby to begin negotiating with prospective candidates, Oklahoma president and Big 12 board chairman David Boren listed five core criteria through which the league would gauge candidates: competitiveness of the athletic programs, academic standards, fan bases, access to media markets and overall reputations.Through that prism, every expansion candidate exudes glaring negatives, which is why all of them remain available despite several previous rounds of conference realignments that could have placed them in the Power 5. Ultimately, this is why the Big 12 has endured such a difficult time agreeing to expand. And why agreeing on candidates could prove to be even more challenging. But simply based on competitiveness, the Big 12 need not fret. Expansion candidates wont necessarily dilute the conference on the field. At least no more than Colorado has the Pac-12.Or NC State, the ACC.Or the Boilermakers, for the majority of a century now, the Big Ten. MLS Commissioner Don Garber and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez also will attend the session, which was announced Monday. The league has discussed placing its next two expansion teams in Miami and Atlanta. Jeff Bagwell Jersey Large . Still, Brewers manager Ron Roenicke thought taking him out before the fifth inning was an unusual move. "Im looking up at the board and hes got two hits given up and one run, and Im taking him out after the fourth inning," Roenicke said. Custom Andy Pettitte Jersey . -- San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks was fined $15,570 by the NFL on Wednesday for his hit on Saints quarterback Drew Brees last Sunday. FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Ryan who? Under orders not to discuss the Ryan Fitzpatrick contract dispute, several players on the New York Jets clammed up Wednesday when questioned about their absent quarterback -- the major storyline as the team reported to training camp. All questions about Ryan are for coach [Todd] Bowles, running back Matt Forte said. They told the team that. They?Everybody knows who they are, he said, probably referring to the public relations staff. The Jets and the unsigned Fitzpatrick have been locked in a contract stalemate since January. The sides have not talked about a contract recently and remain far apart in determining the players value, and no resolution is expected any time soon, a source told ESPNs Ed Werder. The tone on Wednesday was a stark contrast to the offseason practices, when many players -- namely wide receivers Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall -- were outspoken in their support of Fitzpatrick, a popular team leader who set a franchise record with 31 touchdown passes in 2015.Neither Decker nor Marshall were among the five players made available to the media on Wednesday. Neither was quarterback Geno Smith, currently in the starters role. Bowles wont meet the media until Thursday, following the first practice.Center Nick Mangold, one of Fitzpatricks closest friends on the team, said he spoke to the quarterback on Tuesday. He said they didnt discuss football or his contract situation. Clearly, Mangold was uncomfortable talking about it with reporters.I dont know, man, he said, Listen, I dont claim to know whats going on or have any feelings about whats goingg on because I have no control over it.dddddddddddd. Hopefully, things get worked out. If they dont, they dont. if they do, great. I have to worry about blocking nose tackles. Thats my focus. The other stuff will figure itself out.The Jets have presented multiple offers to Fitzpatrick, including a three-year, $24 million proposal that includes $15 million in guarantees. He has no other suitors, but he has refused to accept what he believes is a below-market deal. He made $3.25 million in 2015.Despite the impasse, the Jets have said theyd still like to re-sign Fitzpatrick as their starter, although Bowles suggested last month theyd have to adjust their plan if the matter remains unresolved at a certain point. The Jets havent declared a deadline. They apparently will evaluate Smith in the early stages of camp, perhaps waiting until after the first preseason game before making a final call on Fitzpatrick. We have to work with everybodys whos here, Forte said. If youre here, were going to get better. And if not, theres nothing I can do about it.Coming off a 10-win, non-playoff season, the Jets believe they have enough talent to end their five-year postseason drought. The uncertainty at quarterback is a major question, not to mention a potential distraction. If you guys keep asking questions, maybe, Mangold said, laughing. But I dont think so. If you can block out everything else, you can block out this and focus on what needs to be focused on -- building this team. ' ' '

Tim Fiorvanti breaks down every match on Sundays Backlash card, the first SmackDown Live exclusive pay-per-view following WWEs recent brand split. Senior stats analyst Sean Coyle offers ratings worth a maximum of five points. Criteria for ratings is based on storytelling, in-ring execution, match?psychology,?timing and innovation -- worth up to one point each. The following was updated in real time.WWE world championshipA.J. Styles?def.?Dean Ambrose?(c)?by pinfall (25:01)For full recap and rating, click here.?WWE SmackDown tag team championshipsHeath Slater?and?Rhyno?def.?The Usos?by pinfall in tournament final (10:02)The crowd was vocally behind Slater and Rhyno in a big way, which speaks to their level of work on SmackDown Live over the past few weeks. They got their offense in early, but their momentum was quickly derailed by double-teaming from The Usos. A tandem suplex into the video turnbuckle post was a nice touch in hobbling Slater, better known of late as wrestlings hottest free agent. With the intent of being truly detestable bad guys from here on out, The Usos couldnt have found a much better target to beat on than Slater, the unlikeliest of breakout stars that the WWE has produced since the brand split. Slater certainly took a lengthy beating, but a mid-ring collision turned the tide in the match. When Rynos initial explosion missed, it appeared the comeback was over. But Slater exploded into an unexpected flurry of offense with neckbreakers and a flying DDT to turn the tide. The Usos once again looked to turn the tide as Slater was pulled out of the ring, but a gore from Rhynon while the referees back was turned ultimately sealed the unlikeliest of victories for the recently paired team. While it seemed like this free agent story could have carried on for weeks or months to come, an opportunity to pull the trigger on a currently popular moment wasnt a bad choice either. Its very likely this becomes a short-term arrangement, however, as The Usos have been too good in embracing their roles as heels to go without the top tag team honor on SmackDown Live for too long.Kane def.?Bray Wyatt?by pinfall (10:55)Despite a big build-up over the past few weeks on SmackDown Live, a showdown between Wyatt and?Randy Orton?wouldnt come to pass at Backlash. In the opening moments of the pay-per-view, a backstage segment saw Wyatt hobble Ortons ankle, leaving him unable to compete in their scheduled?match. After being declared victorious following a 10-count by the referee, Wyatt attempted to leave the ring, only to be informed of an impromptu no-holds-barred match against Kane. After teases of several other weapon and table spots, Wyatt utilized steel chair strikes to hobble Kane. But as you might expect having watched his career, Kane was able to recover and hit some of his signature moves, including a sidewalk slam.Wyatt quickly regained control, however, and went on to land a devastating senton onto Kane, who was laid out on the Spanish announce table. Wyatt took his time getting himself and Kane back into the ring and ended up on the wrong end of a choke slam for his troubles. But after Wyatt landed a Urinagi to Kane on top of a chair, the crowd erupted as Orton limped out to ringside before hitting an RKO on Wyatt. Kane followed with a choke slam on Wyatt to record the pinfall victory -- but to what end? While Orton screwing over Wyatt and causing him to lose makes a certain amount of sense, it would have made more giving that kind of victory to someone on the way up, rather than a guy like Kane, whos in the twilight of his full-time career. This match and the finish ultimately proved to be head-scratchers.WWE Intercontinental championshipThe Miz?(c) def.?Dolph Ziggler?by pinfall (18:00)A quick backstage segment between The Miz and SmackDown Live general manager?Daniel Bryan?added instant importance to this match, with The Miz letting it be known he felt he wasnt being used to his full potential. He delivered it with a?hint of truth that made for a strong promo.?In the ring, The Miz started showing signs of more brutality in the ring. As the match went on, it became clear that the conflict between The Miz and Bryan might lead to a more realistic in-ring style for the Intercontinental champion -- and it only grew from there.Considering the frequency of matches between Ziggler and The Miz over the years, there was a bit of a negative been there, done that feel among fans. The opposite side of that coin is the level of familiarity these two men have, allowing for creative spots throughout the match.?The Miz made it abundantly clear that he was sending a message to Bryan by pulling off a number of his signature moves. Surfboard stretch Romero special submissions were utilized perfectly by The Miz, as was a double stomp to the back of Zigglers knees. The crowning glory of the sequence saw The Miz co-opt Bryans trademark running dropkicks into the corner; each time The Miz ran his way back into the opposite corner in a well-executed mimicking of Bryans motions.A Skull-crushing finale attempt was foiled by Ziggler, allowing him to get his first extended series of offense in the match, but it was fairly clear from the outset that The Mizs title reign was unlikely to end on this night. There were some close calls in near-falls -- running head-first into a superkick got a 2-count that was only interrupted by a foot on the ropes -- but this was not Zigglers night for victory. The combination of the hair spray in the eyes from Maryse and a Skull-crushing finale locked up a continuation to The Mizs Never Ending Intercontinental championship World Tour. The Usos def.?The Hype Bros?by submission, to advance to SmackDown tag team tournament final (10:35)The Usos quite literally embodied their heel turn from their entrance. Instead of their brightly colored get-ups with their WWE-branded T-shirts, they instead wore new all-black ring gear, and abandoned their long-running habit of sporting face paint.Zack Ryder?and?Mojo Rawley?got a fair bit of offense in at the beginning of the match. That sequence peaked as Ryder hit a missile dropkick from the apron on both?Jimmy?and?Jey Uso,?followed?immediately by?Rawley getting a full head of steam and sending the brothers in different directions into opposite parts of the ring barrier.Things turned in the opposite direction in a somewhat predictable, but well-executed manner. The Usos used a series of underhanded tactics to gain the advantage by beating down Ryder behind the referees back, slowing down the pace and isolating specific body parts.Ryder did well building up to a comeback on several occasions, including hitting a brutal hangmans neckbreaker. But after an extended comeback in which Rawley ran roughshod over both Usos, things fell apart as The Hype Bros set up for their finisher, The Hype Ryder. Rawleys leg was grabbed, and he was ultimately pulled out of the ring. Ryder put up a valiant effort on his own, hitting a Frankensteiner off the top rope, but dealing with both Usos in the ring ultimately proved to be too much.A chop block to Ryders left knee spelled the beginning of the end. It was followed quickly by a jumping superkick to the back of the knee and an arm-trap single-leg crab. Ryder submitted, sending The Usos on to the finals later in the evening.?WWE SmackDown womens championshipBecky Lynch?def.?Alexa Bliss,?Carmella,?Naomi,?Natalya?and?Nikki Bella?in six-pack elimination challenge (14:40)The womens division ultimately needed a prize to fight for on SmackDown Live, making the announcement one month ago of a SmackDown womens championship a welcome breath of fresh air. Mixing together experienced in-ring competitors and newcomers from the blue brand and throwing them into the ring together brought something of an unknown quantity into this championship match.?When it was chosen to open the show at Backlash, expectations rose higher -- and ultimately, helped the match to exceed most expectations by the time a champion was crowned. As youd suspect with six competitors in the ring at the same time, most of the field had to go out of the ring to keep the focus on two or three women at a time. There were some nice spots early on, including a pair of Code Red sunset-flip power bombs from Bliss, and they took advantage of having multiple competitors with two brutal spots involving three women.First there was an increasingly popular spot used by the men in the WWE, with Bella appearing to attempt a superplex on Carmella only for Natalya to get involved and take out both with a power bomb. The second time around, Bliss got hit by a blockbuster/power-bomb combination at the hands of Natalya and Naomi, triggering Bliss elimination after a lengthy opening sequence. After hitting a few big moves, a springboard attempt into the ring by Naomi ended with a massive forearm from Bella and a sharpshooter from Natalya to force Naomi to tap out. The pace of eliminations further increased, as Bella hit her new (as-of-now unnamed) finisher to knock out Natalya, with Carmella getting the quick roll-up on Bella to further escalate their ongoing feud. That left Carmella and Becky Lynch to fight it out for the championship. Lynch, arguably the most capable in-ring performer in the womens division on SmackDown, had spent most of the match on the outside of the ring and slowly climbed back in. Despite a flurry of strikes from Carmella, a pair of Bex-plexes and a Disarmer out of nowhere ultimately led to her victory. Lynch and Bella were the prohibitive favorites to walk away as the inaugural SmackDown womens champion in this match, and it makes all the sense in the world to build around the most promising young performer on the brand.All-in-all, the women came up big under the bright lights of the pay-per-view stage, and set the tone and pace for the rest of the show. https://www.49ersrookiestore.com/49ers-Weston-Richburg-Jersey/" class="TyTxtSmlC">Weston Richburg Super Bowl Jersey . Tempo Storms Sealed Deck format once again shone in last weekends Red Bull Team Brawl, the second significant tournament run in this Hearthstone format. And for the second time, the home team won, with Tempo Storm beating Team Liquid 3-1 after squeezing into the finals. What is Sealed Deck format? When developing a Hearthstone version of Sealed Deck, Tempo Storm borrowed from Magic: The Gatherings Sealed Deck format, one of my personal favorite limited formats in card games. Each team opens a series of virtual packs to form a 240-card pool from which they must build three decks with only those cards. What makes this a compelling format is that it highlights the deckbuilding itself, rather than simply piloting a constructed, refined deck, in which most players almost entirely know the majority of a players deck after a few turns, if not before. Forcing players to build decks from a random, limited pool, creates interesting scenarios. And as a team format, with the players miced up, you both get to see direct teamwork, fairly unusual in Hearthstone, and hear the players thoughts.Tempo StormAndrey Reynad Yanyuk Haiyun Eloise Tang Victor VLPS LopezTempo Storm may have won the tournament, but it was a very near thing, as they only advanced to the final match against Team Liquid by virtue of winning a tiebreaker as three of the four teams involved went 1-2 in the Round Robin (Team Liquid went undefeated). The team felt they had enough Mechs to put together a kind of hybrid Mech/Token Shaman that could swarm the board and make beneficial trades, with Thunder Bluff Valiant and Muklas Champion leveraging the tokens. Mech Shaman had been a thing in the past, a straight aggro deck during the days of Goblins vs. Gnomes, but without a Rockbiter Weapon or Whirling Zap-o-Matic, Tempo Storm couldnt go a straight-up with the aggression.Tempo Storms Mage did manage to get a Mad Scientist, useful to exploit the Duplicates, and the two Flamestrikes were key to making the deck work. The only thing really missing was direct burn damage to the face outside of the two Forgotten Torches; there was no Fireball in this deck. But the two Flame Lances came in handy several times over the weekend -- an important thing to remember about Hearthstone is that there are a lot of cards that never see play in Constructed, but only because there are cards that are simply a smidgen better.Druid was the deck Tempo Storm worried the most about, a deck full of large minions and not a lot of ways to catch up.Im going to play the most expensive thing in my hand every single turn until hopefully my opponent dies. The only thing thats missing is any kind of decision-making, commented Reynad before the tournament started on how theyd win with the deck. In the end, they went 3-3 with it.After going 6-7 in games during the Round Robin, Tempo Storm tinkered with all three of their decks (they were allowed to make changes before the finals using the same card pools), making them more aggressive, notably including Bloodlust in Shaman to push the token theme. The Bloodlust proved to be a key card in the final against Team Liquid, as the team didnt get too greedy and used Bloodlust for important minion removal rather than simply for the burst damage to face.Team LiquidJeffrey Trump Shih David Dog Caero Janne Savjz MikkonenTeam Liquids deck all shared in a theme in that their card pool was really suffering for lack of area-of-effect clears, the type that could help the games if they fell behind. So they focused on decks that built a solid curve that could maintain board control with minion-on-minion combat. You could see this issue in Team Liquids Mage deck, which had very high minion quality, but no Flamestrikes, no Fireballs, and only Blizzard for a dependable board clear, albeit one that would likely need some kind of board presence.Team Liquid was also fortunate to draw both Reno Jackson and Lordd Jaraxxus, enabling them to put together a fairly decent Renolock deck with a bit of Dragon synergy.dddddddddddd One problem which didnt hit them early: the lack of board clear in the form of Hellfire, Shadowflame, or Twisting Nether. But if they could survive and get to Jaraxxus, they stood a good chance of winning. In practice, it proved tricky and the deck only was around .500 in the end.During the round robin portion, the general deck plan proved effective, the team going 9-3 over the course of their three preliminary matches. As it turned out, the quick aggressive decks that would punish the decks early were nowhere to be seen. Tempo Storm going for a smaller curve in the finals proved to be their undoing.Team BMKBrian Kibler Rumay Hafu Wang Tom MartellWith one of the best Arena players in Hearthstone in Hafu to go along with two very experienced Magic players, this seemed like an ideal format for this makeshift team. The deck that worked out the best for Team BMK was their Priest deck, the only Priest played in the tournament. While the class has been the whipping boy of Constructed for the last six months or so, they were able to collect many of the elements for a Resurrect Priest, with many of the standard cards for that archetype being available without substitutions. The Priest went 2-1, so wasnt the problem.Nor was the problem the Shaman deck, which went 3-1 with some powerful late game cards, a total of nine minions of five-or-more mana. Without a lot of aggressive decks to play against, they were able to reach that endgame more often than not. What sunk Team BMK was the Mage deck, a deck that get out-tempoed early if they couldnt get a Fallen Hero or Stormchugger, easily their best early-game minions, to stick. And thats a problem as with no Fireball, Frostbolt, or Blizzard, the team fell regularly behind and would lose if they didnt happen to have Flamestrike. Even with two Flamestrikes, this happened quite a bit, leaving the Mage deck to go 1-6, the worst performance of any deck for the day.The other problem turned out to be the secrets. While Tempo Storm had two Duplicates to go along with their Mad Scientist, Team BMK had two of the weakest secrets -- Id argue the absolute weakest -- in Vaporize and Spellbender. After the initial surprise in their first match given that these cards are never played in Constructed, both Tempo Storm and Team Liquid were able to play around the secrets quite easily.Cloud9James Firebat Kostesich Cong Strifecro Shu Andrew TidesofTime BiessenerCloud9s plan for their Druid was simple: put as many giant minions, preferably with taunt, on the board as possible and dare the opponent to have enough removal to get them all. And it worked out more often than not, the deck winning three of its five games. With Dark Arakkoa, Captured Mormungar, two Ironbark Protectors, and two Volcanic Lumberers, their opponents tended to run out of removal. But against a fearless, aggressive opponent with a bit of reach, the deck ran into trouble. Tempo Storm didnt have spell options to remove Cloud9s big minions in their mirror match, so the former used their two Savage Combatants to use their heros health pool as a removal tool. And they did this to the tune of 25 self-damage just to retain board.Like Team Liquid, Cloud9 got a Lord Jaraxxus to use, but the combination of a smaller curve without enough aggression to put the game away early, they had a harder time geting to their Jaraxxus.Cloud9s last deck, yet another grinding-style Mage was a deck we didnt get to see a lot of, only geting two games in. Which is kind of a shame as they were able to work in five Dragons and two Blackwing Technicians, something that caused Team Liquid a great deal of trouble in the very first game of the day. ' ' '

GLASGOW, Scotland -- Anti-doping leaders were challenged to produce more credible evidence of Russian cheating by a leading Olympic executive on Saturday.Leaving a meeting of the World Anti-Doping Agency executive committee, IOC representative Gian Franco Kasper dismissed the credibility of the report that detailed Russian state-sponsored doping.Manipulation of samples at the 2014 Sochi Winter Games and cover-ups of positive tests across dozens of summer and winter Olympic sports was reported by WADA investigator Richard McLaren in July ahead of the Rio de Janeiro Games.I want to see the proof, Kasper, who is also president of the skiing federation, said in Glasgow. We cannot say its correct or not. He has to bring proof with names.Former Russian anti-doping lab director Grigory Rodchenkov told McLaren that samples of Russian athletes were passed through a concealed hole in the wall during the middle of the night at the Sochi Games, with the help of intelligence officers from the FSB, the current version of the Soviet Unions KGB.You know this hole in the wall in Sochi was Hollywood for me ... they had a key for the door, Kasper said. The KGB are so stupid they have to drill a hole in the wall? Come on.U.S. Anti-Doping Agency chairman Edwin Moses, the gold medal-winning and world record-setting hurdler from the 1970s and `80s, said it was ridiculous for Kasper to question the investigation.Wave after wave of retests show that there are Russian athletes (doping), Moses said after attending the WADA meeting with Kasper. You can go back one or two Olympic Games and it just seems like wave after wave of Russians are showing up (as having doped) which really cuts through the credibility of the results of those Olympic Games and the redistribution of medals. To me thats a horrible situation. The latest batch of retests of samples from the 2008 Beijing Olympics saw the IOC announce on Thursday that four Russian athletes, including three medalists, tested positive for banned substances. The credibility of Olympic medals has diminished and thats what the athletes are believing, Moses said. You have scores of athletes out there who should have won medals and now know they were right. That is why Moses, like WADA, wanted the entire Russian delegation banned from the Rio Games in August, a move that provoked the ire of the International Olympic Committee. The IOC rebuffed those calls, instead allowing individual sports to rule on the eligibility of Russians.Three months after the Rio Games, the rifts remerged in public at an Olympic gathering this week in Qatar, where the IOC questioned Craig Reedies WADA leadership, demanding a neutral president. Reedie is still set to be re-elected unchallenged for a second three-year term at the WADA Foundation Board meeting in his native Scotland. There is no point at the moment walking away from this situation when things need to get done and things get difficult, Reedie said on Saturday. There are people demanding improvements in process and I want to get that finished as well.A WADA Foundation Board meeting on Sunday will see a discussion of the WADA leaderships push for enhanced whistleblowing mechanisms, and bid to codify a sliding scale of sanctioning powers, including fines or blanket bans on entire countries or sports for the type of widespread doping scheme it believes was run by the Russian state.WADA only tried it once with the Russians in Rio and the IOC said no -- its none of their business, Kasper said. It has to be a neutral institution and it shouldnt be political. ... You cannot be the prosecutor and the judge yourself. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Kenyan sprinter Carvin Nkanatas biggest race this week was the 12-hour dash from Florida to the Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro to make the starting blocks for the 200-meter heats. He did OK in that first race. In the one on the track? Not so great. He came last.He said it was still worth it.If youre unsure how much the Olympics mean to some athletes, Nkanatas story might help make up your mind:Initially ruled ineligible to compete for Kenya, Nkanata put in an appeal and then, without knowing the result of that appeal, took a chance. He booked his own flights Monday afternoon, made the overnight journey from Tampa to Miami to Rio, and arrived at the Olympic Stadium straight from the airport the next morning just in time to line up. The timeline for Tuesday morning was: Arrived in Brazil at about 9:30. Got to the stadium about 11:30. Ran in the Olympics at about 12:30.That run lasted 21.43 seconds -- not a great time, but he hardly slept on the plane and didnt have time for a proper warmup at the track. Bottom line, Nkanata is down quite a few dollars and exhausted, all for less than 22 seconds of action at the Olympics. Its a dream. This opportunity dont come around every year. So, I just had to (do it), Nkanata said soon after coming off the track. I worked so hard to get here. I put in a lot of man hours, sweat, injuries to get here. So, I was like, I got to get here. I cant give up.Nkanata has an American passport and Kenyan nationality and heritage. But Kenyan officials messed up his accreditation for the Olympics. Hed given up on getting to Rio, Nkanata said, until a lawyer in the United States heard about his story and offered to help him submit an appeal.Nkanata said he didnt know the outcome until he landed in Brazil. The gamble paid off and he learned he was cleared to run after he landed, he said. Now, hes going to get his luggage out a storage room at the stadium, check in to his room at the athletes village, and enjoy the Olympics.Oh, there was one more drama, too, in his race to make his race. His flight out of Miami left late, and this was no time for a delay.I tried to sleep (on the plane) but I couldnt, he said. I closed my eyes. I drank some water. Theyve been pushing us at training and making sure were fighting for our positions, Kahu said. But I know if Scotland were coming to New Zealand, wed definitely put our best team on the park. ' ' '

Leo Harrison, one of the last two county cricketers to have made his first-class debut before the outbreak of the Second World War, has died in his home county of Dorset. He was 94.Harrison, born in the fishing village of Mudeford in Dorset, made his county debut for Hampshire in 1939 as Europe prepared for war. He made 396 first-class appearances and his career flickered as late as 1966 thanks to an emergency return that season, as a coach, when he pulled on the wicketkeeping gloves for the last time.At the start of the war, he joined the RAF, but failed the pilots eyesight test and spent the war making flying instruments for Bomber Command. He played cricket in spectacles after the war, his poor eye sight not bad enough to halt his county career.Harrison had a lifelong friendship with John Arlott, who he first knew as the village policeman, long before Arlotts Hampshire burr became one of cricket broadcastings most famous voices.John Manners, at 102, remains Englands oldest living first-class cricketer - perhaps the worlds - as well as the oldest member of MCC.The careers of both men were celebrated in the 2016 edition of Wisden. They ended up hitting 11 of them, accounting for all 19 runs in their weekend series against the Chicago White Sox. Kevin Correia pitched seven shutout innings, Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer backed him with home runs and the Twins beat the White Sox 5-2 Sunday. "It sure seems we missed a lot of opportunities, but we did put the ball in the seats," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "As we said coming into this series, in this ballpark, the ball flies. If you get a hold of it pretty decent, its going to go out." The Twins took three of four games in the series and have won nine of 12 against the White Sox this season. Minnesota has scored 23 of its 28 runs during its current road trip via home run, but the Twins are 7 for 62 with runners in scoring position during that stretch. "If you look at our runners in scoring position in this series, I dont think Major League Baseball thought you could do that either," Gardenhire said. "But well take the home runs if thats the way we have to score runs right now, as long as were winning ballgames." Adam Dunn and Conor Gillaspie hit solo home runs off Casey Fien in the ninth. Doziers three-run homer, his 11th of the season, gave the Twins a 3-0 lead in the fifth after Chris Colabello singled and Doug Bernier walked. After Jamey Carroll singled, Mauer hit his ninth homer. Mauer is hitting .351 in 64 career games at U.S. Cellular Field. Correia (8- struck out seven, tying a season high. He allowed five hits and one walk in his second scoreless outing of the season. "Early in the year, I had a lot mmore smoother innings where I was getting deeper in the game," Correia said.dddddddddddd. "Im trying to get back to firing a lot of strikes and getting quicker outs." Jose Quintana (6-4) gave up five runs in five innings. Thats the most runs hes permitted since giving up six on April 5 against Seattle. Quintana is 0-2 with a 9.15 ERA in four career starts against the Twins. The White Sox have scored three runs or fewer in 17 of his 24 starts. "Its kind of the same old story with him," Dunn said. "He keeps us in every single ballgame and one inning got him." Dunn hit his 27th homer and Gillaspie had his 10th. Notes: The Twins traded INF Carroll to the Kansas City Royals for a player to be named later or cash on Sunday. Earlier in the day, the Royals put 2B Miguel Tejada on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right calf. "If I can go there and contribute in a positive way, I know the team is playing extremely well right now and they have a bunch of good young guys and some great pitching," Carroll said. ... The Twins started Carroll at third base, giving Trevor Plouffe a day off, and started Doug Bernier at shortstop, resting Pedro Florimon. Plouffe is batting .233, and Florimon is hitting .223. "Plouffe is not swinging good. Flori didnt swing good, and Im using everybody anyway," Gardenhire said. ... Twins C Ryan Doumit is eligible to come off the seven-day disabled list this week. He went on the DL on Thursday for concussion-like symptoms. "Hell get re-examined by our doctors when we get home to determine if hes ready to resume baseball activities," Twins assistant GM Rob Antony said. ' ' '

Each week this season, Cade Massey and I will project the remainder of the college football regular season using our simulation model. This week, we went a step further, by calculating the probability that each team makes (and wins) the College Football Playoff.Still, this is an inexact process with a lot of uncertainly due to the human element of the playoff committee. There is a lot we dont know, especially related to how the committee will value a two-loss conference champion relative to a better one-loss team that does not win their conference. And what about the Big 12, which doesnt have a championship game? All were questions we wrestled with, and none have definitive answers. Here is our full breakdown of the playoff and the best bets among the remaining teams with a shot to win.All odds courtesy of the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. Teams are ordered according to Massey-Peabody odds to win title.Alabama Crimson TideWestgate Odds: 4-5 (moneyline: -125) Massey-Peabody Odds: 0.75-1 (moneyline: -133)Alabama is clearly the odds-on favorite and has played like it throughout the season. NEW YORK -- Daniel Murphy emphatically flipped his bat to the ground while he ran to first on his RBI single to centre field. Take that Brett Gardner. Murphy had the go-ahead hit in the eighth after being denied a homer by Gardner two innings earlier, and the New York Mets rallied to beat the rival Yankees 2-1 Monday night for their second straight home win after losing eight in a row. "I was fairly angry after he took that from us," Murphy said. David Wright hit his first home run at Citi Field this year leading off the seventh. Murphy came through against David Robertson (3-1) to hand the Yankees their first loss in 23 games when leading after six innings. Murphys drive to left-centre in the sixth was caught above the wall by Gardner to end the inning. The Yankees also threw out a runner at home plate in the eighth just before Murphy singled to centre field. Brandon Lyon (2-2) pitched a scoreless eighth in relief of an impressive Jonathon Niese. Bobby Parnell pitched the ninth for his eighth save. His first save against the Yankees was a coming of age of sorts in manager Terry Collins opinion. "If youre going to pitch in this city and youre going to be a closer in this city youve got to pitch in big, big-time situations," Collins said. "This isnt a playoff game but this is the Subway Series and this means a lot to a lot of people." With the Mets entering at 11 games under .500 and the Yankees playing without several of their injured All-Stars, the Subway Series seemed to have lost much of its lustre. There were plenty of empty seats throughout Citi Field and the 32,911 fans were awfully quiet for a game between these clubs. That could change come Tuesday night, when the Mets send young ace Matt Harvey to the mound against the Yankees most consistent starter, Hiroki Kuroda, in the second of four straight games between the teams. "We Harv going tomorrow, it provides us some momentum," Wright said. "If were going to climb our way back into the thing and start heading towards .500 were going to have to win these close games ... hopefully we can ride this momentum into tomorrow with Matts start." Niese and Phil Hughes showed they could be pretty good, too. Both pitchers are having inconsistent seasons but they worked quickly into the sixth inning, with the game scoreless. The Yankees took the lead in the sixth when left fielder Lucas Duda came up short on a diving attempt at Gardners opposite-field liner.dddddddddddd. The ball scooted past Duda and Gardner raced into third base with a triple. Jayson Nix followed with a single that dropped just in front of charging right fielder Mike Baxter for a 1-0 lead. Gardner got off to a tough start Monday in the oddly angled centre field. He took his eye off Wrights drive to check for the section of the wall in front of the Mets bullpen that is a chain link fence, and it went for a first-inning triple. There was no looking back the next time. With Niese on first after his second single of the night, Murphy sent a fly that Gardner tracked to the wall. He jumped in front of the 385-foot marker and caught the ball above the fence. "I didnt think it was hit as good as it showed," Gardner said. "I didnt realize it was going out." Niese got Gardner to ground out with runners on second and third to end a threat in the seventh. Wright fell behind 0-2 leading off the seventh before hitting a full-count pitch into the left-centre stands for his seventh homer. "One of the big things is what David was able to do because the air couldve been taken out of us," Murphy said of Wrights homer coming an inning after Murphy lost his to Gardners catch. Baxter doubled with one out in the eighth, pinch-hitter Jordany Valdespin walked and they moved up on Chris Stewarts passed ball. With the infield playing in, Ruben Tejada hit a grounder to second baseman Robinson Cano, who snapped a throw home. Stewart made a sweep tag on Baxters back as he tried to reach his hand out to touch the plate. With two outs, Murphy followed with a single. "I did a terrible job. I didnt have command of anything," Robertson said. "I kept getting behind in the count, I couldnt throw any first pitch strikes. It was really tough, frustrating." Niese allowed eight hits and one run in seven innings. Hughes pitched seven, too, yielding one run and four hits in seven. He struck out six and walked none. NOTES: Wright has two homers against Hughes in 12 at-bats. ... Yankees reliever Joba Chamberlain (right oblique strain) said he should be activated from the DL on Tuesday. ... Yankees LHP Francisco Rondon, designated for assignment on Friday, has been sent outright to Double-A Trenton. ... The Mets will honour Yankees closer Mariano Rivera before Tuesdays game. ... The Mets improved to 7-8 in one-run games. ' ' '

McCann had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder last October. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said after Sundays 9-4 win over the Mets that McCann will be active and with the team Monday. Gonzalez said infielder Tyler Pastornicky will be optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett to clear a roster spot for McCann. McCann completed his rehab assignment with Gwinnett on Sunday. "Thats huge," said first baseman Freddie Freeman. "Thats like trading for an All-Star." McCann hit .364 with four homers in his first six games with Class A Rome and Gwinnett, but the bigger question has been how his shoulder holds up to his throws to second base. McCann said his arm is ready. "The way Im throwing now is basically the way I was throwing before I got hurt," McCann said this week. "The ball is coming out great. "I tested my arm as much as I could possibly test it and woke up the next day and felt the same as the day before." The decision to send Pastornicky to Gwinnett will leave the Braves with three catchers: McCann, Gerald Lairrd and rookie Evan Gattis.dddddddddddd Gattis, who had two hits on Sunday, is hitting .261 with seven homers and 18 RBIs. Gattis, the NL rookie of the month for April, is expected to play behind McCann and may have spot starts at first base and in the outfield. Gonzalez said third baseman Juan Francisco is day to day with a mild right ankle sprain he suffered Friday. Francisco has shared time with Chris Johnson at third base. Right fielder Jason Heyward, who had his appendix removed on April 22, is ready to take batting practice. Heyward will be with the team as it begins its 10-game road trip in Cincinnati and San Francisco. Gonzalez said "theres still no timetable on where or when" Heyward begins his minor league rehabilitation assignment. "Hes taking it day by day right now," Gonzalez said. "Hes feeling better every day." Soon after his surgery, Heyward said he hoped to return by the end of May. It is possible Heyward could recover faster than he expected. Also, right-hander Cristhian Martinez, who has been on the disabled list since April 7 with a right shoulder strain, is headed to the Braves extended spring training in Orlando to begin a throwing program. CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Aaron Harang got on the mound where he started 112 games with the Reds and had another pleasant night in Cincinnatis familiar muggy air -- even got some applause from fans, too. Made him feel right at home. Harang went six innings in the ballpark where he still holds the strikeout record, and Nick Franklin and Michael Saunders homered on Friday night, leading the Seattle Mariners to a 4-2 victory over the Reds. "I made many a start on that mound," said Harang, who had never pitched against the Reds at Great American Ball Park. "I got back out there and it felt like old times." Harang (4-7) limited his former team to a pair of runs and six hits, including Joey Vottos 15th homer. Oliver Perez struck out the side in the ninth for his second save. The Mariners are making their second visit to Cincinnati and their first to Great American Ball Park, which opened in 2003. In their other trip, they swept a three-game series at Cinergy Field in 2002. The Mariners are 9-1 all-time against the Reds. Seattle and Cincinnati will always have one notable baseball connection: Ken Griffey Jr., who grew up in Cincinnati, developed into one of the majors best with Seattle, and returned to his hometown in a trade before the 2000 season. Griffey finished his career in 2010, when he retired from the Mariners. Now, theres another. Harang pitched for the Reds from 2003-10, starting five season openers. He holds the record for most career strikeouts at Great American with 598, including his four on Friday night. The 35-year-old pitcher has kept in touch with several former Reds teammates and some of his former neighbours. When Homer Bailey threw his second career no-hitter on Tuesday night in Cincinnati, Harang got to watch part of it on television in Texas and sent along congratulations. "This is my second home," he said. The only time he felt out of place was when he warmed up in the visitors bullpen by the right-field line. "I was a little nervous when I first went out there today," he said. "It was an awkward feeling coming out from the other side of the field." He got over the awkward feeling fast. "It has to be a big deal for him," Mariners manager Eric Wedge said. "He spent a lot of years here, had a lot of good years here. The fans appreciated him. He went out and threw a good ballgame." Not so for Mike Leake (7-4). Franklin hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Saunders had a solo homer and a sacrifice fly off Leake, who lasted five innings. Leake originally was scheduled to pitch on Thursday against San Francisco, but got pushed back a day because of a rainout. Leake had allowed only nine earned runs in his last nine starts, going 5-1 with a 1.31 ERA. That stretch of fine pitching ended quickly. Brad Miller, batting leadoff for the first time, hit Leakes third pitch for a triple to right-centre. Franklin homered on the next pitch. "Those first two balls, theyve got two runs," Reds third baseman Todd Frazier said. "Youre surprised. They came out swinging. And with Harang throwing well and mixing his pitches and hitting his spots, thats a win." Saunders led off the second inning with his fifth homer. He hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth for a 4-0 lead, the most runs Leake had allowed in a game since May 8. Miller also tripled down the right-field line in the fifth but was stranded at third. Hes the first Mariner to have two triples in one game since Carlos Guillen in 2003 and the 13th overall, according to STATS LLC. Seattle slugger Raul Ibanez extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a single. Arizona and Gonzaga are set to resume one of the best rivalries in the West, with the Bulldogs talking about payback. The perennial Top 25 programs have played in each of the past three seasons -- all Arizona victories, including in the 2014 NCAA Tournament to advance to the Sweet 16 and a 68-63 win in Spokane, Wash., last season.Like I said, weve got something for them. Send a message Saturday, Gonzaga guard Josh Perkins said after a 97-63 home victory over Mississippi Valley State improved the Bulldogs to 7-0 on Thursday night. We feel like we owe them some payback. Its been some years building up. Saturdays a time for us to get back at them.Their chances appear to be good when No. 8 Gonzaga plays 16th-ranked Arizona (6-1) at Hoophall LA, a one-day doubleheader event in Los Angeles on Saturday. Arizona-Gonzaga tips off at 5:30 p.m. ET followed by BYU vs. USC.The Wildcats are expected to have only seven available scholarship players after the teams latest injury.Starting point guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright suffered a high ankle sprain Wednesday in a win over Texas Southern, with coach Sean Miller saying the junior would be out for a considerable period of time. Arizona previously lost two players to torn ACLs, an incoming freshman turned pro and sophomore guard Allonzo Trier, the teams top returning scorer at 14.8 points per game, hasnt played yet because of unspecified eligibility issues. The school has not commented on the matter.Where we go from here, I dont know, Miller said.Gonzaga reloaded this season, despite losing frontcourt players Domantas Sabonis and Kyle Wiltjer from the team that reached last years Sweet 16. A new Pac-12 transfer backcourt of point guard Nigel Williams-Goss (Washington) and Jordan Mathews (Cal) adds scoring punch to a returning unit that features center Przemek Karnowski and Perkins.Williams-Goss leads a balanced scoring effort with 12.9 points per game, to go with an average of 4.9 assists. Perkins averages 12.7 points and is shooting 53.1 percent from behind the arc (17 of 32). Freshman 7-footer Zach Collins is averaging 11.6 points per game off the bench.A third starting transfer, forward Johnathan Williams (Missouri), is averaging 10.9 points and 5.9 rebounds. Karnowski is the fifth double-digit scorer at 10.7 points per game. Mathews is a high-volume 3-point shooter who has made 15 of 39 for 38.5 percent.I admire their program, their coach, I love their team this year, Miller said. Were not there yet in terms of dealing with them. ...They can run you completely out of the city of L.A. if youre not ready to go because of how great they are. Were a work in progress. Were the furthest thing from a great team.Arizona has three double-digit scorers, all freshmen. Lauri Markkanen, a 7-footer forward with a sweet 3-point shot, is averaging 18.3 points and is shooting 46.9 percent from beyond the arc (15 of 32). Guard Kobi Simmons, likely to move into the starting lineup, is averaging 13.0 points. Wing Rawle Alkins is at 10.9 points.Senior Kadeem Allen, who started most of last season at point guard, will move back from shooting guard to fill the primary role while Jackson-Cartwright is back. Simmons will be the backup at point. The programs have met seven times, all since the 2000 season. They played a classic double-overtime game won by Arizona 96-95 in the second round of the 2003 Sweet 16.Were going to continue to play Gonzaga because theyre one of the best programs in college basketball, Miller said. https://www.cheapcoyotes.com/358z-jeremy-roenick-jersey-coyotes.html" class="TyTxtSmlC">Jeremy Roenick Jersey . LAS VEGAS -- The family vacation was planned months in advance. As soon as free agency was over, DeAndre Jordan was heading to a resort in Jamaica where -- theoretically -- he would put his phone in airplane mode, surround himself with family and friends, and all the noise would stop. That was the plan, anyway. If you followed NBA free agency in the slightest last July, you know what actually happened. Three days after committing to the Dallas Mavericks, Jordan had a stunning change of heart and returned to the Los Angeles Clippers. In the time it took to fill out a customs form on the flight to Jamaica, Jordan became a villain in Dallas, an accidental hero in Los Angeles and the butt of jokes on late-night talk shows, social media and sports talk radio. He tried to keep his phone off, but there was no escaping the fallout. One day as he was sitting on the beach, he got a text from Kevin Durant. Theyd been close since high school when Durant tried to persuade Jordan to attend the University of Texas with him. Jordan instead chose Texas A&M, so they drifted apart for a few years. Eventually they reconnected during summer workouts. And in the past few years, theyd grown much closer. So close, in fact, that the Mavericks hoped landing Jordan in free agency would give them an edge in the Durant sweepstakes the following summer.Durant said his message to Jordan was simple: I just let him know, Man, whatever you do. Youve got people that love you.It was the kind of thing you say to a friend to let him know you cant make things better for him, but youre still in his corner.I feel like the people who talked to me afterwards are my real friends, Jordan said this week, after a training session with Team USA. The people who stopped texting me afterwards, the ones who said stuff like were family and all that while I was deciding, that wasnt real. I realize it was only a basketball decision for them. You find out who is really on your side. And Kevin was like, Man, you cant worry about what other people think. Youve got to worry about you and what makes you happy.Fast-forward a year and Durant is the one who spent his summer in the middle of a free-agency squall and made a stunning decision that brought withering criticism from fans, peers and media critics. No, he didnt commit to one team and then renege a few days later. But after eight years of telling the fans in Oklahoma City that he loved them and wanted to retire there, his departure for the Golden State Warriors came as a cruel shock.Had he misled them all those years? Did he fall out of love? Or was his love never that pure to begin with?Durant felt all of it. If hes being honest, knowing how much he was about to hurt the fans in Oklahoma City was one of the things that nearly held him back from following his gut and signing with the Warriors. For 48 hours after picking the Warriors, he said he stayed inside the house hed rented in the Hamptons while receiving free-agent pitches from the Warriors, Celtics, Spurs, Clippers, Thunder and Heat.I didnt leave my bed, because I was like, Man, if I walk outside somebody might just try to hit me with their car or say anything negative to me, Durant said. I just stayed in and tried to process it all. ... It felt different.Very different.Durant hasnt been the boyish, backpack-wearing homegrown superstar most people first came to know him as for a while now. First he went through the KD is not nice phase where he was like a child star trying to break out of a wholesome, prepubescent box by releasing a song about being naughty (See: Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber). Then he started copping an occasional attitude at the media for perceived slights to him, his teammates or any player in the NBA who he thought was getting unfair treatment. But there was always something about Durants defiance that felt a little forced. Like he was just pushing boundaries or asserting his independence from the nice-guy image that had gone way too far and escaped reality a long time ago.He is nice. Hes just not the saint people projected him to be.For example: Last fall he turned down a half-dozen requests for an ESPN The Magazine story. Hed decided to stay silent until he could explain his feelings about free agency on The Players Tribune. Fine. Totally his prerogative. He believed in the Tribunes business model and message of player empowerment. I can respect that. But when we saw each other at Thunder media day, he came over to explain himself in person. How many NBA superstars do that? Most tell an agent or publicist to deliver their bad news and never address it personally. And yet because wed always had a good professional relationship, Durant felt compelled to explain himself in person. It was an incredibly self-aware, sensitive thing to do.Thats just a small example without much consequence. So how in the world was he going to handle breaking the hearts of a city that loved him? Of going from hero to villain? Of being criticized by Hall of Famers like Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley for taking an easier path to a championship? This week in Las Vegas has been Durants first taste of life as a heartbreaker, and it appears hes only allowing himself to feel it in doses. The full weight of the fallout is too much to process all at once.I just try to be the man in the arena, Durant said. Its easy for the critics on the outside to tell you what to do or what decisions to make, but they werent just out here with me, putting in work.I cant really worry about the outside noise. I have to go to work. The work dont stop. The love of the game doesnt fade. Everything stays the same no matter where I play. This has become one of Durants refrains. A self-affirmation of sorts. Some players would get off on being disliked -- whether the sentiment is real or just a projection -- and use it as motivation. But thats not Durants nature.Guys like Kobe [Bryant] thrive on it, said Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim, a longtime Team USA assistant. I dont think Kevin will thrive on it. But I do think he will immerse himself into the [Warriors] team.Another key difference? When you come into town as the villain like Kobe, everybodys focused on him because he was the best player. But when Golden State comes in, theyre not going to just focus on one guy, Boeheim said. That was clearly part of the appeal to joining the Warriors. After years of being the face of his franchise, with the hopes and dreams of a city all on his shoulders, Durant was drawn to the idea of being just one of the guys.Thats part of what he said hes always loved about Team USA and what helped him this week as he adjusts to this new reality. This uncomfortable period may be good for Durant in the end. Making a decision he knew would be unpopular? Maybe thats the personal evolution and growth he needs. Maybe it wont be. In hindsight, Jordan said that hes found the entire process to be clarifying. It definitely makes you tougher, Jordan said. I still joke around like a little kid, but I dont get as mad as I used to about things, I dont let stuff affect me like I used to, because Ive gone through that crap.He hopes itll be that way for Durant as well. When I found out he was going to the Warriors, I texted him, Man, Im happy for you. This is going to be big. I cant wait to kick yalls ass, Jordan said.Im happy for him. He gave those guys [in Oklahoma City] nine great years of MVP-level basketball, a Finals appearance. He played his heart out for that team. If they cant respect that, if other players cant respect it, thats their decision. At the end of the day, hes happy and thats the only person he has to satisfy.Durant was sitting one seat away from Jordan as they each spoke after practice on the third day of Team USA training camp. There was plenty of room on either side of them. But the two old friends seemed more comfortable crowding each others personal space. If things were destined to be uncomfortable going forward, they had might as well lean on each other. https://www.cheapavalanche.com/" class="TyTxtSmlC">Colorado Avalanche Shirts . Lewis Hamilton says he just could not complete the job after losing out on pole position in Germany to Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg.Hamilton held provisional pole early in Q3 but was beaten by Rosbergs one and only attempt late in the session, though he had a later attempt to beat his title rival to P1. After going purple through the first sector, Hamilton lost two tenths with a lock up at the hairpin, which was ultimately enough to cost him pole.Though Rosberg has been quicker throughout the weekend Hamilton thinks he had the pace to beat his teammate. Its been a good weekend, Hamilton said after qualifying. I had no problems, I had the pace today I just couldnt finish it off on the last lap. I didnt really have much of a lock-up, it was subtle, so I didnt lose any time. The front row lockout means Hamilton and Rosberg will line up alongside each other again. Hamilton beat Rosberg on the run down to Turn 1 in Hungary and is looking forward to another fight against his teammate on Sunday. It will be a good day for Mercedes. We will race hard ... Russias ban from world athletics has been extended, with the IAAF needing more time to investigate their progress in improving their anti-doping record. Rune Andersen, president of the task force looking into Russian reforms after Novembers suspension, said significant progress had been made but not enough to justify lifting the sanctions. The view of the task force is that there is significant work still to be done to satisfy the reinstatement conditions, Andersen said. We still need to interview athletes and coaches named in the WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) commission report to understand the scope and nature of previous doping activities.IAAF president Sebastian Coe said a final decision on Russias reinstatement might not be made until May, only three months before the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.Coe said: While progress has been made, the council unanimously agreed that the Russian authorities need to undertake further significant work to satisfy the reinstatement condition, (so) RUSAF (the Russian Athletic Federation) should not be reinstated to the IAAF at this stage. My job is not to get as many athletes to the Olympic Games as possible. The job of the council is to make sure those athletes who are going to the Games are clean under systems based on integrity. There were no pre-ordained outcomes today. We were satisfied, unanimously, that more work needed to be done, although some progress has been made, before we can be asked to make the decision. The Rio athletics programme begins on August 12, but a May reinstatement could make it tough for Russian athletes to record Olympic qualifying times. IAAF president Sebastian Coe said Russia needs to show more while identifying five other countries needing critical care Russia were banned in November following a report by an independent WADA commission that found evidence of state-sponsored doping and large-scale corruption in Russian athletics.Further to the Russia update, the IAAF also identified five other countries in critical care regarding their drug-testing systems, although none has yet been handed any sanction.Ethiopia and Morocco - as a matter of urgency - need a robust testing programme put in place, Coe added. Kenya, Ukraine and Belarus need to get compliant by the end of the year. https://www.wholesalejerseysaaa.com/" class="TyTxtSmlC">Wholesale Jerseys 2022 . PARIS -- The Portuguese party had just begun when a message briefly flickered on the Stade de France big screen: Merci pour tout, Michel. It wasnt clear what the absent Michel Platini was being thanked for at the end of the European Championship on Sunday.A public show of support before UEFAs banned president loses his title in September? An endorsement of the former France captains vision to expand the tournament by eight teams?Whatever the sentiment of the message, supporters booed. Loudly.Few fans viewing the 51 games over the last month objectively will have been engrossed by the action. The first 24-team continental showpiece required perseverance from fans to stick through many dreary games. Compensating for the tedium, though, was the enriching march of the minnows, something Platini could never have anticipated by adding eight teams.Newcomers like Wales and Iceland didnt just make up the numbers. They had so-called heavyweights who went home early -- from England to Spain -- watching in awe at their progress.Wales, whose only previous appearance on the international stage was the 1958 World Cup, made it all the way to the last four -- the first British semifinalist in 20 years.Englands campaign ended in huge embarrassment in the round of 16, providing newcomer Iceland with its greatest footballing moment. Iceland was the smallest nation ever to qualify for the tournament and its windfall from UEFA should help to keep the production line of talent rolling. It took a potent display from host France to end Icelands glorious run, breaking through the resilient defensive unit to win their quarterfinal 5-2. But France couldnt barge through another well-drilled side when it faced Portugal in Sundays final.Even after the most theatrical and agonizing moments of the tournament -- the 15-minute spell in the first half when Cristiano Ronaldo twice left the pitch to receive treatment before tearfully being forced out of the game.Portugal persisted without the three-time world player of the year to win its first major title. Portugals 1-0 victory in extra time reflected one of the early conclusions of UEFAs technical observers: possession is no longer king. Retaining the ball with masterful passing, as Spain showcased during their title triumphs in 2008 and 2012, can prove inadequate when thwarted by dogged opponents. It meant teams could be less ambitious, sit back and hope to pounce on the break, especially when 16 teams knew they would advance from the group stage. How will Euro 2016 be remembered? Not for tactical innovation, nor for a breakthrough star. Anntoine Griezmann was already the star of Atletico Madrid before being named the player of the tournament with six goals.ddddddddddddLong after the dour group-stage is forgotten, the legacy will be the fans -- the aggressive and the boisterous behavior.Russia left the tournament with a solitary point in the group stage but was at risk of being sent home in disgrace as punishment for its fans violence. England was also threatened with expulsion after hooligan elements in its fan base clashed with Russians around the opening game in Marseille.Tear gas was deployed in southern France, a foretaste of police tactics to disperse some crowds right the way through to the final when there was an attempt by some supporters to force their way into the Paris fan zone. The great relief for authorities was the lack of any major security incident, given the tournament being played under the state of emergency that was introduced after extremist attacks in Paris last year. And fans from many countries did add to the enjoyment of what should be a sporting festival. The Icelandic thunderclap was quickly adopted by the French and will surely spread across the continental game. The most sung about player at Euro 2016 didnt play a single minute. Will Grigg, a backup Northern Ireland forward, was always on fire, petrifying defenses to fans who revived and appropriated GALAs 1990s dance hit Freed From Desire. While England fans adopted it to insert striker Jamie Vardys name, continental fans were happy just to sing about Grigg in broken English -- a bemusing experience. And tales of the minnows and underdogs provided UEFA with cover when the focus switched to tedious tactics as the average goals per game dropped from 2.45 in 2012 to 2.12. Sundays match was the first continental final going scoreless after 90 minutes and the newly-crowned Portuguese champions only won one game out of seven inside 90 minutes in France.Still, the governing body saw its coffers swell through an expected tournament record profit of 830 million euros ($917 million) in the last single host competition for some time.Next time around, it will be staged in 13 cities across Europe -- culminating in Wembley Stadium in London hosting the semifinals and the final.Thats another Platini innovation that fans could be booing in four years -- unless the quality of the football improves perhaps.---Rob Harris can be followed at www.twitter.com/RobHarris and www.facebook.com/RobHarrisReports ' ' '

There is no set timetable as of now for his return.Payne suffered the injury Tuesday during an open scrimmage. The team later labeled it as an ankle tweak. Payne experienced soreness the next morning. Following tests, it was discovered he had a fracture.Payne had surgery in late July on his right foot to repair a Jones fracture (on the same bone) and was cleared to return to play for training camp. The team said the two injuries are unrelated. His fracture in the summer was a stress fracture, while this one is an impact fracture. Its unknown as of now if Payne will undergo another surgery. Hell be re-evaluated in the next week, and a determination will be made.Payne dealt with soreness in his foot beginning in March of last season and wore a walking boot for the remainder of the season before and after practices and games. He participated in summer league, but after the soreness did not improve, he and the team decided to surgically repair the Jones fracture. The team called it a proactive surgery at the time. With the Thunder transitioning into a new era without Kevin Durant, who signed with the Golden State Warriors during the offseason, Payne was expected to take on a much larger role this season backing up All-Star point guard?Russell Westbrook, as well as playing alongside him. Possibly anticipating lingering issues with his foot, though, the team signed veteran point guard Ronnie Price over the summer. Price will now slot into that role. This isnt the first time the Thunder have had issues with Jones fracture procedures. Durant underwent three different surgeries on his right foot during the 2014-15 season, which caused him to miss 55 games. Durants original surgery had a screw put in that didnt fit his foot properly, with the second surgery attempting to correct that. He wasnt healing as quickly as anticipated, so he and the team decided to pull the plug and opt for a full bone graft procedure. The team said Paynes situation is much different than Durants.Payne, 21, averaged 5.0 points and 1.9 assets in 57 games (one start) last season. Yeezy Boost 700 v3 Cheap . "It will be the biggest fight weve ever done in the UFC," the UFC president told The Canadian Press from Las Vegas. Biggest because Chris (The All-American) Weidman upset Anderson Silva on Saturday night in Las Vegas. And because of the manner in which the longtime middleweight champion and MMA icon was dethroned. The 38-year-old Silva, who had won all his of 16 previous UFC fights, clowned his way to a loss. As he had done in other recent bouts, he dropped his hands and egged his opponent to hit him. In the past, Silvas reflexes had kept him out of harms way. But this time he got clocked in the second round and went down. Referee Herb Dean stepped in after Weidman got in a flurry of blows on the champ as he lay on his back. The upset, while predicted by some including welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre of Montreal, drew instant response from those who missed the pay-per-view. "Who has a video of the ufc fight tonight? Send it to me," tweeted pop star Justin Bieber. White said plenty of others had the same thought. He called UFC 162 the most-pirated event in the organizations history. The post-fight news conference, available through the UFC and other websites, was also well watched. The 29-year-old Weidman (10-0) received a basic purse of US$24,000 plus a $24,000 win bonus, according to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. A $50,000 knockout of the night bonus increased that figure to $98,000. Expect the UFC, which does not like to talk money, to quietly top up Weidmans pay in spectacular fashion. Silva (33-5) collected a basic purse of $600,000, missing out on a $200,000 win bonus. The Brazilians pay cheque, however, will be in the millions once other bonuses and a cut of the pay-per-view revenue are factored in. Weidman, who fights out of Mineola, N.Y., improved to 6-0 in the UFC. A graduate of Hofstra University, with a bachelors degree in psychology and masters in physical education, Weidman is a former NCAA All-American wrestler. Most of those who believed Weidman could win thought so because of that wwrestling prowess.dddddddddddd But Silva survived being taken down in the first round. Silva, seen as one of the sports greatest strikers, lost on his feet for not taking his opponent seriously. The Brazilian has long been a mercurial character, both inside and outside the cage. White has taken him to the woodshed for showboating in the past, even moving him up a weight class in a bid to challenge him. Silva, a father of five, can alternate between being playful and disinterested at media events. But two days after Silva losing his title and tarnishing his reputation, White said he had no beef with the Brazilian star for the bizarre tactics that backfired. The UFC boss called him the sports greatest fighter ever, adding that Silva would have been hailed as a hero if he had gone on to win. Weidman, however, was less than pleased by Silvas fight antics. A clip of him in the cage after the stoppage seems to show the new champ calling Silva "a disrespectful piece of" -- well, you can fill in the blank. According to FightMetric, Silva connected on 14 of 24 significant strike attempts (58 per cent) Saturday night, compared to 16 of 34 (37 per cent) for Weidman, who was good on one of three takedowns. Silva connected on five of six significant strikes in the second round before he got tagged. The Brazilian leads the UFC with a career 67.5 per cent significant strike accuracy rate. Like most, White expects Silva to be all business next time. Its as if Saturdays first chapter was only half-written. Fans want to know what happens when both fighters show up for real. "All wins are not created equal," said White. "And all losses are not created equal." The UFC got good traction on the rematch between Silva and Chael Sonnen at UFC 148 after Sonnen dominated the champ before being submitted in the fifth round of their first fight at UFC 117. White expects this rematch to eclipse that one in terms of fan interest. As for Silva, he tweeted a picture Monday of himself getting a hug in what looked like a family reunion at an airport as his son looked on. "That is my prize," the ex-champ tweeted. ' ' '

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas -- Michigan State spent the first 30 minutes playing with energy and building a huge lead, then the last 10 nearly giving it all away.Still, the 24th-ranked Spartans came away from the Battle 4 Atlantis with a win -- and the end of a brutally tough opening month of the schedule in sight.Miles Bridges scored 21 points to help Michigan State hold off Wichita State 77-72 on Friday in the Battle 4 Atlantis third-place game.Eron Harris added 13 points for the Spartans (4-3), who bounced back from Thursdays loss to No. 20 Baylor in a game that left coach Tom Izzo saying his injury-hit team looked awfully tired and maybe a bit overwhelmed by the early schedule.Theres no question that this team has been through a lot, Izzo said. But thats what I challenged them with. I dont challenge them with effort, heart, I dont challenge them very often with character issues. But I did challenge their character a little bit.Izzo said he sensed great focus from his players Friday morning. The most important thing is finding a way to get off the mat, he said. That is the most important lesson I can teach these guys whether it be in life or in basketball.Michigan State led by 18 midway through the half and held a 15-point lead with 8:05 left, only to see the Shockers (5-2) turn to fullcourt pressure to get back in it. Wichita State ran off a 14-0 run to get to 66-65 on Daishon Smiths layup over Bridges with 4:13 left.We got stops, Smith said. We were able to put our athleticism into the game, and thats what we did.But the Shockers couldnt quite push ahead. Bridges and fellow freshman Cassius Winston hit key 3-pointers. And when the Shockers had one more chance to tie it, Smith missed a long straightaway 3.Bridges grabbed the rebound and hit two clinching free throws with 4.7 seconds left.Darral Willis scored 16 points to lead Wichita State, which shot 36 percent.BIG PICTUREWichita State: As bad as things looked midway through the second half, the Shockers showed a downright scary fullcourt press to get back in it.dddddddddddd. Coach Gregg Marshall has tried to talk more about defense than the teams offensive potential during three days in Atlantis; that finish might have reinforced it to his team, too.Marshall also didnt rule out the possibility of using pressure defense more going forward.Ill just have to evaluate us and evaluate my coaching and evaluate our personnel and try to figure out a way to play more like the team in the second half than the team in the first half, he said.Michigan State: The Spartans looked fresh and showed a balanced offense for about 30 minutes. From there, they did just enough to hang on.We didnt beat the Lakers, but we won a big game, Izzo said, and we did it with old-style grit for 90 percent of that game.POLL IMPLICATIONSThe Spartans will give voters an interesting decision for the next AP Top 25 . Yes, all of the Spartans losses in this brutally tough opening month are to ranked teams. But will that be enough to keep a 4-3 team in the poll? Stay tuned.Wichita State had a shot to play its way in, but two straight losses to ranked opponents ended that chance for now.BRIDGES IN ATLANTISBridges, a 6-foot-7 freshman from Flint, Michigan, went 6 for 11 from the field and made 4 of 8 3-pointers.Once I get going, the basket opens up a little bit more for me, said Bridges, who scored 22 in the opener against St. Johns and had 15 against Baylor.UP NEXTWichita State: The Shockers return home for a Tuesday game against Southern Nazarene, a Division II program from Bethany, Oklahoma.Michigan State: Things dont get any easier for the Spartans. When we think yogi -- especially in the western-world -- an image of a lithe white woman in warrior pose position typically comes to mind. The clichéd yoga body portrayed in mass media is limited and oftentimes discouraging for diverse audiences. But imagery isnt the only reason why many women have yet to join the yoga bandwagon. Theres also the issue of cost. With its expensive equipment: mats, towels, straps, blocks and gear, it has inadvertently excluded legions of would-be practitioners due to their body size, skin color and lack of means. In all, typically yoga ... equals privilege. But change is on the horizon, and self-proclaimed fat femme yogi and North Carolina native Jessamyn Stanley, 29, hopes to bring yoga to all. After initially shying away from yoga in her teens due to it not seeming accessible to her as a plus-sized African-American woman, she revisited the practice in her early 20s as a means to battle depression at the request of a former classmate. In 2011, she began taking a deeper dive in to yoga and developed an appreciation for various styles. But it wasnt until 2013, when she began to expand her practice in the privacy and comfort of her own home, that she started reshaping her own perceptions of beauty and body image. She now credits yoga and meditation for allowing her to understand that unhappiness fuels the unrealistic beauty standards that haunt many of us. On a daily basis, she says, I make a commitment to stand above the noise of our society in order to see the inherent beauty of each and every being on this planet, myself included. And by the looks of her 240,000 Instagram followers, Stanley has successfully pushed through the body negativity clutter to reconstruct the image of the yoga world. I want people to understand that the strength of a yoga practice doesnt lie in a persons ability to [do a] handstand, buy coconut water, or afford expensive yoga products. Its about how you feel after.?But through Stanleys motivational social media presence and yoga instruction, she lovingly reminds her audience and students that life is full of challenges, and yoga is no different. Its hardcore for everybody, regardless of body type. But the lack of diverse representation -- with about?80 percent of yogis in the U.S. being white?--?and blatant size discrimination, the practice is still intimidating for many. While the social media world sees her as a hero, Stanley is reluctant to celebrate her Insta-fame until the greater modern yoga community welcomes plus-sized practitioners of all abilities. I am very keenly aware that my perspective and practice are still viewed with a tone of smugness by most of the modern yoga community. And furthermore, my success as a black, plus-sized practitioner is very abnormal on the scale of other larger bodied [yogis], particularly those of color, Stanley says.In general, she adds, size and color discrimination are very much the norm within the Western yoga community and the opportunities Ive been afforded are not indicative of larger scale change. The smugness Stanley speaks of isnt solely reserved for her size or skin color. It has also extended to a past method of using books instead of yoga blocks, or a dog leash in place of a yoga strap, due to lack of resources. Her choice of music while practicing is also divergent. Enter the majority of yoga studios anywhere in the world, and youre likely to transition from one posture to the next while listening to soothing, ambient sounds of water flowing or chanting. But Stanley craves something different from the norm. For Stanley, yoga is about mindful intention-setting. And shes most successful at doing so while listening to Compton rapper and activist Kendrick Lamars inspirational works. For most, Lamar would be an odd musical selection for a yoga session. But for her, a southern African-American woman working within a predominantly?white industry, Lamars lyrics about black experiences and social injustices help get her in a zone. Its this idea of celebrating individuality and self-acceptance that Stanley hopes to convey through her practice. The yogic path has nothing to do with size, age, color, wealth, or physical ability, she added. These freeing ideologies make Stanley comfortable in baring her body to her blog and social media followers. When scrolling Stanleys various timelines, readers are met with images of her strong, curvy frame nailing the standing bow posture in nothing more than a bra and panties. Which has coalesced her into being a body-positivity role model of sorts -- a title she didnt seek, but humbly accepts. [I thank my] fellow non-stereotypical yoga practitioners [for helping] create the rainbow-hued community that the world truly deserves.A community shed like to see embraced by yoga teachers, studio owners, media outlets, business owners and students alike, to achieve a safe and inclusive space for all body types and people of color -- with a focus on feeling good, rather than looking good. A community shes willing to build and guide, adding, For many of us, the pursuit of yogic bliss is really just a genuine journey towards self-acceptance, and I think my yoga practice is living proof of that path.Shana Renee is the founder and editor-in-chief of?All Sports Everything?and a passionate New York Jets, Knicks and Yankees fan. SALT LAKE CITY -- No one should be surprised if Gordon Hayward ends up on an NBA all-star roster in February. Like a skilled gamer, Hayward has unlocked a new level and powered up.Hayward has made a habit of taking over games for the Utah Jazz on offense. His latest victim? The Los Angeles Lakers. Hayward torched the Lakers for 23 points on 7-of-16 shooting in Utahs 107-102 victory on Monday night.Such a performance is not out of the ordinary. Hayward has averaged 31.7 points per game over Utahs last three home games while shooting 52 percent from the field. Jazz coach Quin Snyder points to an expansion of Haywards postgame as a reason behind him taking another step forward as a scorer. He added a comfort level in the post that, I think, is still going to improve, Snyder said following the teams 105-98 win over Denver on Saturday. Hes shooting off screens, so hes able to score multiple ways when someone takes something away.Haywards ability to attack a defense in so many different ways has transformed Utah (13-9) into a better offensive team this season. The Jazz have occasional stretches where they are paralyzed by long-term scoring droughts. Still, it is no longer a defining characteristic that it had been at times over the past few seasons. With Hayward setting the tone, his teammates feel like they can get more than enough going on offense to complement their stout defense. He makes everything click, guard Rodney Hood said. His aggressiveness in going to the basket, knocking down shots, passing the bball.dddddddddddd He does a lot for our team. We feed off that.Stopping Hayward represents the latest challenge for a beleaguered Phoenix Suns defense. Phoenix (6-14) hit a low point during a 138-109 loss to Golden State on Saturday. The Warriors shot 66.7 percent from 3-point range (14 of 21) over four quarters. It represented their highest percentage since shooting 68.8 percent at Cleveland on Jan. 29, 2013.Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson led the way in torching the Suns from the perimeter. Curry and Thompson combined to make 11-of-14 from distance and they finished with 31 points and 26 points, respectively.Phoenixs offense wasnt able to keep up with the explosion that it couldnt contain on defense.Offensively, we were stagnant, guard Devin Booker said. We werent moving the ball well, and thats what happens when you play good teams. They played good team defense. The Suns will need more from both sides of the ball in Salt Lake City. They have allowed 121.7 points per game over their last three games. Phoenix will also need big games from Booker and Eric Bledsoe against a Jazz backcourt that has played without injured George Hill over the last three games.
