Neal scored at 1:03 of the extra session to lift the Penguins past the Hurricanes 4-3 on Friday night. NHL scoring leader Sidney Crosby had a goal, and Chris Conner and Deryk Engelland each scored in the third period. The Eastern Conference leaders rallied from one goal down in the third period and took a 3-2 lead -- only to let it slip away late in regulation before Neals goal in OT gave them their 13th win in 15 games. "Thats where our team has matured and changed, and I think we regrouped and didnt let it bother us," Neal said. "We come right back and get one." Neal, who also had two assists, ended it by beating Justin Peters with a wrist shot off a slick give-and-go from Jussi Jokinen -- the former Carolina forwards third assist. "When we got our third one, I felt pretty good about it," goalie Marc-Andre Fleury said. "Disappointed to give up that third goal, but it was nice to see (Neal) finish it up for us." Fleury stopped 31 shots in his 500th career game. "Marc was our best player tonight, for sure," coach Dan Bylsma said. Drayson Bowman scored with 2:29 left in regulation. Nathan Gerbe had a goal and an assist, Andrej Sekera scored and Peters finished with 22 saves for the Hurricanes. They let a third-period lead slip away for the second straight game. Carolina also lost its seventh in eight games with four coming in overtime, and fell 20 points behind the Penguins. "When you look back, you feel like you had a really good hockey game," Carolina coach Kirk Muller said. "Its during those first 60 minutes, we had some opportunities to capitalize, and when you dont, youre going to be in tight games and youve got to know how to play with the lead then. Its a very thin line of winning and losing. When you give up a couple of chances and they score, thats the difference." Engelland -- who was playing in his ffirst game since serving a five-game suspension for a check to the head of Detroits Justin Abdelkader -- put a hard shot past Peters with 6:45 left to give the Penguins a 3-2 lead. Adidas Superstar Fleur Lotus. But Bowman forced overtime when he slipped his late wraparound past Fleury. Engelland was one of a few Penguins making their return to the ice. They also got defenceman Brooks Orpik and forward Tanner Glass back from injuries. Orpik missed eight games with a concussion while Glass was out for the past month with a broken hand. The Penguins tied it at 2 at 1:58 of the third period when Conner slipped a backhand past Peters. That came after Carolina built a 2-1 lead following a wild end to the first period and start to the second. Sekera scored the games first goal in the final moments of the first period, beating both Fleury and the buzzer with a high backhand that was upheld by a brief review that determined that there were 1.3 seconds left. That came about a minute after the Penguins had a goal disallowed because the whistle blew before the puck crossed the line during a pile-up in front of Peters and defenceman Ron Hainsey. Crosby then tied it 16 seconds into the second when he slipped a backhand past Peters for his NHL-best 55th point. But the tie didnt last long -- Gerbe put Carolina back up 14 seconds later by converting on Alexander Semins hard shot. "You cant be afraid to have the lead and play," Muller said. "Youve got to keep playing the way you played the first two periods. You cant sit back. Thats what we tried to emphasize." NOTES: Penguins C Evgeni Malkin (lower-body injury) missed his sixth straight game, though he did take part in the teams morning skate. ... The Hurricanes activated G Anton Khudobin from injured reserve and assigned him to their AHL affiliate in Charlotte, and placed D Jay Harrison on IR with a concussion. ... Pittsburgh RW Pascal Dupuis will have surgery on his right anterior cruciate ligament and could miss the season, coach Dan Bylsma said before the game. Wholesale NHL Jerseys Online .500. The Jets have now won nine of their last 11, and five of their last six road games. With the win they moved to within two points of Vancouver in the west, the Canucks holding down the eighth spot. Vancouver lost in Boston, while the other big game saw Dallas win in Phoenix. The Jets do jump ahead of Nashville, and are now tied with Dallas, one point behind Phoenix. It was the Jets 33rd one-goal game of the season. The first period was scoreless with some careless play by both teams leading to a number of scoring chances, forcing both Ondrej Pavelec and Anton Khudobin to make a number of outstanding saves. The Jets outshot the Hurricanes 11-9. The only goal of the second period came from Andrew Ladd, his 13th of the season. Ladd now 3-7-10 in the last ten games. Ladd buried a rebound of a Micheal Frolik shot, with Bryan Little also picking up an assist, giving him 13 points in the last 14 games. A key part of the game later in the period with Zach Bogosian off for holding, the Jets were nailed with too many men on the ice. So for the eighth time this season the Jets were down two men (51 seconds) and for the eighth straight time they killed it off. Other than a shot off the post, the Hurricanes did not have a shot on goal on the power play. Adam Pardy made a number of key plays including a key blocked shot. Shots in the second were 12-9 Carolina. Riley Nash tied the game early in the third, setting the stage the game winning goal with 1:03 left in regulation. Blake Wheeler started the play with a cross blue line pass to Jacob Trouba in the Carolina end. Trouba took the puck all the way around the Hurricanes goal, tried to get a pass to Mark Scheifele in front, but instead found Chris Thorburn at the edge of the circle who scored his second of the year for the win. Wheeler has 15 points in the last 14 games, Trouba nine points in the last 10 games. Final shots were 29-27 in favour of Carolina. Pavelec is now 7-2 in his last nine games, allowing 20 goals against, including six games where he has allowed two or less. Al Montoya has played the other two in the 9-2 Jets run, allowing one goal in each. Bogosian for the fifth straight game led the Jets in ice time at 25:01, Trouba next at 24:13. Little had five shots on goal, four of which were great scoring chances. Face-offs very much favoured the Hurricanes, who finished at 64%. 37 hits for the Jets, Trouba leading the way with five. Trouba was a plus-1 and is now a plus-14 in the last 11 games to lead the team, Scheifele was a plus-1 and is now a plus-12 in the last 11 games and is second on the team. "It wasnt one of our best games, but we found a way," commented Coach Paul Maurice post-game. "The effort was there, our structure was good, our goalie was good. Huge penalty kills. Just wasnt anything easy about the game but we handled it well." There was a lot of line matching with the Hurricanes wanting Manny Malhotra against the Little line and Eric Staal against the Scheifele line. "Scheifele is Winnipegs dirty little secret, hes a pretty good player. I have no problem putting Scheifele out against anyone." Trouba struggled early in the game handling the puck, but Coach Maurice kept putting him out. "He had a couple of shifts that were unusual. But he wants the puck on his stick with a chance to win the game. He took it low with his head up, and he can make those big plays. Hes been on the ice for a lot of big goals." On the penalty kill, "We got bodies and sticks where they needed to be. A big block by Pardy, that shot was a bomb." Jets continue their four-game trip in Washington Thursday as for the second straight game they renew the old South East Division rivalry. (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). The Brewers finalized a US$36 million, three-year contract with free agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez on Wednesday, adding a much-needed bat to their lineup. Ramirez, who played the past eight-plus seasons for the NL Central rival Chicago Cubs, said he considers the Brewers a team that will be in position contend every year for the foreseeable future -- even if they do lose Braun for a chunk of next season and lose Fielder for good. "Youre going to miss those guys if Ryan Braun is suspended, but I think you win with pitching," Ramirez said. And while Ramirez said hell do his best to help produce runs, he doesnt see himself as a direct replacement for Fielder. "You cant replace Prince Fielder," Ramirez said. "Hes one of the best hitters in the game." Brewers general manager Doug Melvin acknowledged that Wednesdays signing of Ramirez more or less means that theyre moving on from Fielder, who is almost sure to sign elsewhere. "It appears, obviously, that Prince Fielder will probably not be coming back at this time," Melvin said. "So we had to move forward." Braun, the NL MVP, is appealing a positive test for a banned substance. "Theres a lot of uncertainty, but were moving forward with him being a part of our ballclub," Melvin said. Melvin said the team wasnt going to change its off-season plans to compensate for the potential loss of Braun. "Were just doing business as usual," Melvin said. The 33-year-old Ramirez played 149 games for the Cubs last yeaar, batting . CHeap NHL Jerseys China. 306 with 26 home runs and 93 RBIs. "Hes got some pretty impressive credentials," Melvin said. "I know when we always played them, hes the one guy that I always feared coming up there in key situations, with men on base." Ramirez has been with the Cubs since he was traded by Pittsburgh to Chicago in the middle of the 2003 season. Ramirez isnt quite sure what to expect now that hes on the other side of the intense Cubs-Brewers rivalry. "I dont know," Ramirez said. "Ive got to experience it first. I know its going to be a little different, because I played in Chicago most of my career." And hell enjoy playing in Miller Park with the roof closed in April. "I just dont like the cold weather," Ramirez said. Ramirez gets $6 million next year, $10 million in 2013 and $16 million in 2014, of which $6 million is deferred. There is a $14 million mutual option for 2015 with a $4 million buyout. The deferred money from 2014 is due in two $3 million payments on Dec. 15 in 2017 and 2018. If the 2015 buyout money is paid, it would be owed in two $2 million payments on Dec. 15 in 2015 and 2016. Part of the Brewers pitch to land Ramirez came from principal owner Mark Attanasio and manager Ron Roenicke, who met with Ramirez in California while he was there to visit with another team that was interested in signing him. Melvin said he recently talked to former Cubs general manager Jim Hendry, who said Ramirez is the kind of hitter you want at the plate in pressure situations. "Like Aramis said, youre probably not ever going to totally replace Prince," Melvin said. "But these are some big numbers that hes put up." Washington, DC (SportsNetwork. Adidas Zx 750 Trainers Mens .com) - San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is well known to rest his aging players without consideration of the strength of his opponent or the size of the stage. So when the Spurs visited the White House on Monday to celebrate last years NBA title, President Barack Obama couldnt help opening with a joke. I was considering having the vice president cover these remarks so I could stay fresh for the State of the Union, Obama said to laughter. But I decided I actually wanted to meet them. Said Popovich later: What I want to remind the president about, if I might, with all due respect -- when I sit stars, I get fined. He doesnt. Obama poked fun at Popovichs reputation for being curt with the press, saying, I want the coach to know that he is not contractually obligated to take questions after the first quarter of my remarks. The president, a famous fan of the Chicago Bulls, said its never easy celebrating another team at the White House, but admitted its hard to dislike the Spurs. He poked fun of their age, singling out star Tim Duncans graying hair and saying theres a reason why the uniform is black and silver, and he praised their roster, calling them the U.N. of basketball teams. Obama said the Spurs -- who have won five titles in the past 16 years, all under Popovich -- always find a way to put together the best teams, finding players from all over the globe. They want everybody on the court, he said. They think everybody has worth. They find folks who didnt have a chance someplace else and suddenly they figure out a way to make them shine as part of a team. And in that sense, theyre a great metaphor for what America should be all about. Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. Cheap Asics Gel Lyte III .ca! There is plenty of blame to be shared as a result of the most recent NHL player (Pittsburghs Brooks Orpik) to be evacuated from the ice on a stretcher following an ugly incident Saturday night in Boston. Its high time for the NHL brass, their Officiating Department and the NHLPA to put their collective heads together to provide meaningful player safety measures that arent being achieved through current attempts. Consistently applied player suspensions arent the only tool to curb dangerous and unwanted hits to the head. We need to take a step back and have a serious discussion, recognizing that education will be the key to effectively changing this destructive culture at all levels of the game. Players often seek out retribution for hits, even those deemed legal, that are delivered to one of their teammates. Following a "big" hit, the temperature of the game can immediately elevate to the near boiling point. At such times, the referees primary job is to take whatever measures necessary to control the environment. To do that, he has to have a "feel" for the game and what is required. A better job could have been done by the refs in that regard after Orpik delivered a hard, legal open-ice check that knocked Loui Erisksson out of the game on the very first shift. Credit must be given to the referees for not overreacting to Orpiks legal check and then sending Zdeno Chara to the box for his retaliatory cross-check at the first stoppage of play 21 seconds in. The fuse was lit, however, and the refs could have been more proactive in bringing the temperature down and containing the ongoing illegal push-back demonstrated by some of the Bruin players. At the 2:42 mark, Chris Kelly was allowed to shove Chris Connor to the ice from behind at the red line with a cross-check motion deserving of an interference penalty. On a subsequent shift, Kelly again took a charge at Connor and delivered a high finish hit that should have resulted in a timely call. While a roughing minor was assessed to Shawn Thornton for popping Orpik a couple times in the face at 5:44, a prime opportunity to douse the flames was indeed missed by the referee by not adding a 10-minute misconduct to Thornton for his attempts to incite a fight with Orpik. That penalty, in addition to a conference needed with Bruins head coach Claude Julien would have sent a strong and clear message where the control in the game rested! The game was very unsettled at this point and you didnt have to be on the ice to feel it. Oddly enough, sometimes a fight can help bring the temperature down but the negative energy did not diminish following the fisticuffs between Milan Lucic and Deryk Engelland at 7:19. Unfortunately, the nastiness came to a head less than four minutes later when Sidney Crosby tripped Brad Marchand in apparent view of the trailing referee and no call resulted. The referee did react a second later by raising his arm when James Neal extended a left knee directly (and deliberately) to the head of Marchand as the Bruin was getting up off the ice. While the referee observed and reacted to the kneeing infraction, I have a major problem with the fact that it was only deemed to be a minor penalty. At the very least, based on the deliberate act by Neal, a major and a game misconduct would be required and a match penalty for deliberate attempt to injure was most deserving! (Neal remained in the game and scored a power play goal after stepping out of the penalty box from serving his minor for kneeing.) When play stopped at the other end of the ice, more retribution was being sought against Orpik; this time by Gregory Campbell in a scrum. Thornton ended it (and lost it) with a slew-foot that took Orpik down from behind. The subsequent gloved knockout punches delivered by Thornton after Orpik hit the ice resulted in immediate medical attention and the stretcher being required to remove the Penguins defenceman. As I said at the outset, there is plenty of blame to be shared when these horrific situations take place. Much is needed and can be done across the board to curb and eliminate the needless violence that places careers and the future health of players in jeopardy. It took a complete buy-in and education of players, coaches, and referees to change the negative culture of "obstruction" following a return from the first lockout season. While lengthy suspensions might be the immediate remedy in these two incidents, it will take coaching, education and a universal buy-in to fix this problem in the long-term. Its not exclusively the referees job to bring the temperature down. Nike Roshe One Nm Br . Los Angeles dropped two of three at home to Boston from Aug.MINNEAPOLIS -- Ubaldo Jimenez struck out a season-high 10 over seven-plus scoreless innings for his first win with Baltimore, and Nelson Cruz hit a two-run home run to pad his lead for the Orioles in a 3-0 victory on Friday over the Minnesota Twins. Jimenez (1-4) allowed only three hits while taking a significant step forward from five rough starts to begin his $50 million, four-year contract with the Orioles. Jimenez dropped his ERA from 6.59 to 5.19, after leaving with one out in the eighth following Eduardo Escobars double. Zach Britton stranded the runner with a groundout and a called third strike on Joe Mauer, and Tommy Hunter picked up his eighth save in nine tries by pitching the ninth. Trevor Plouffe led off with a double, but Hunter struck out the next two and ended the game on a groundout. Ricky Nolasco (2-3) gave the Twins a complete game, giving up nine hits and one walk while striking out six for his eighth career nine-inning appearance. Cruz doubled in the fourth, scoring on a double by Matt Wieters, before his soaring drive into the third deck above left field followed a leadoff single by Manny Machado in the sixth inning. Cruz, who entered the night tied for fourth in the league in homers, has gone deep eight times already with his new team. The sign that this would be Jimenezs night came in the third inning, when the first two Twins he faced reached base. The 30-year-old right-hander with the herky-jerky delivery dug in and struck out the side after that: Brian Dozier, Mauer and Plouffe. From the third into the eighth, Jimenez retired 16 of 17 batters, with the only outlier a fielding error by second baseman Jonathan Schoop that put Escobar on with two outs in the fifth. SINGAPORE -- Karrie Webb and Angela Stanford were so close down the stretch Saturday at the HSBC Womens Champions, matching each other birdie for birdie, that Stanford only sees one way to get the advantage in Sundays final round. Nike Free Günstig Kaufen Schweiz . "Im going to send Webbie a six-pack (of beer) tonight," she said. Webb wasnt sure that would help. "Ill probably drink one and go to sleep," the Australian veteran said. The two players set up a Sunday showdown between former HSBC champions after finishing off their third rounds with identical birdies over three of the last five holes Saturday to separate themselves slightly from the rest of the crowded leaderboard. Webb, the 2011 winner, shot a 70 to move to 11-under 205, one stroke ahead of 2012 champion Stanford, who had a 69. They both have a chance to be the first repeat champion of the tournament, although on two different courses. Both players picked up their first HSBC crown at Singapores Tanah Merah Country Club and this years event is being played at the Sentosa Golf Club. Still, Stanford said, there are enough other quality players within striking range after a momentum-shifting day that anybody could claim the title. "Its really not worth looking at (the leaderboard)," she said. "You just know a lot of people are going to be at the top." Among those chasing Webb and Stanford are Spains Azahara Munoz, who fired an eagle and four birdies for a 5-under 67, the low round of the day; and Taiwans Teresa Lu, who gave up her LPGA membership in 2010 to concentrate on playing in Japan. Both are tied for third at 8-under 208. Americas Paula Creamer, who briefly held the lead with Webb and Munoz on Saturday, had six birdies to go with three bogeys to sit in fifth place at 7 under. Morgan Pressel of the United States was at 6 under, Norways Suzann Pettersen was another stroke back at 5 under, and Swedens Caroline Hedwall and South Koreas Na Yeon Choi were in joint eighth at 4 under. Webb, a seven-time major winner, led the first two rounds in Singapore, but started out slowly on Saturday. She played her front nine at even par and then bogeyed the 10th hole to go to 1 over, allowing the rest of the field to close the gap. "Even when I was not giving myself a lot of good birdie opportunities early on, I had to tell myself its Saturday, theres plenty of golf left to be played and just to be patient," she said. "And fortunately I listened to myself for a change." Webb turned it around on the 153-yard, par-3 14th hole, where she struck her tee shot to within a couple feet of the hole for an easy birdie putt. Next came a chip shot from the fairway on the 16th which rolled in for birdie to give her a two-stroke lead again. Stanford stayed with Webb, though, as the other challengers fell back. Not to be outdone on the 14th, the American placed her tee shot even closer than Webbs -- a mere inches -- leading to birdie. She matched Webbs birdie again on the 16th, and both players closed the round with birdies on the 18th. If either veteran slips in the final round, however, Munoz and Lu are right behind them. Both players are looking for their second LPGA titles. Munoz captured her only tournament at the 2012 Sybase Match Play Championship, while Lu won hers at last years Mizuno Classic. Defending champion Stacy Lewis disappointing week, meanwhile, looks likely to end her streak of 13 consecutive top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour. Lewis shot a 73 on Saturday, leaving her far down the leaderboard in joint-42nd place. Lewis, the reigning Womens British Open champion, is only three away from matching Webbs LPGA record of 16 consecutive top-10 finishes, set in 1998-99. It was the largest comeback in league history by a road team.Only two other clubs have come back from bigger deficits in the regular season. San Francisco rallied from 28 down in beating New Orleans on Dec. 7, 1980, and Buffalo trailed 26-0 before beating Indianapolis 37-35 on Sept. 21, 1997.Every Browns game this season has been decided by three points or fewer.I did tell them after the game they got to stop doing it, first-year Cleveland coach Mike Pettine said. I have an EKG scheduled for tomorrow because my heart cant take many more of these. It also was the biggest comeback in Browns history. On Dec. 4, 1966, Cleveland trailed the Giants 34-14 and won 49-40, according to STATS.On Sunday, the Browns (2-2) won a road game for the first time since Sept. 22, 2013, at Minnesota. That looked unlikely when they fell behind 28-3 in the first half.Cleveland snapped a seven-game road losing streak by scoring 26 unanswered points, including 16 in the fourth quarter. Its just good to win, Hoyer said. I said when we broke it down, Lets just win one by two touchdowns one week and not give everybody a heart attack. Backup Charlie Whitehurst couldnt protect the big lead.Tennessee turned the ball over on downs at the Titans 42 with 3:03 left when the Browns stopped Whitehurst on fourth down and less than a yard to go. But time expired just after Whitehurst found Kendall Wright on a pass past midfield.Hoyer finished 21 of 37 for 292 yards, and he started the Browns comeback with a 1-yard TD pass to Jim Dray just before halftime. He also connected with Benjamin on a 17-yard TD pass after Cleveland got the ball on a free kick off a safety early in the fourth quarter. Tank Carder had blocked Brett Kerns punt through the end zone. Its the fourth straight loss for the Titans, and it could be very costly with a handful of players limping off.Whisenhunt streamlined his offence in trying to jump-start his struggling team. It worked as the Titans scored on two of their first three drives.Locker was leading an 80-yard drive when cornerback Buster Skrine blitzed, hitting Locker in the head. Lockers hand hit Skrines helmet as he threw, and the quarterback immediately signalled first down before going to the sideline, then to the locker room. Two of Whitehursts first three passes went for TDs, with the second a career long of 75 yards to Justin Hunter for a 28-3 lead late in the first half. LIVERPOOL, England -- Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is set to sign a new contract at the end of the season after reviving the fortunes of one of Englands biggest clubs. New Balance 574 Norge . Rodgers said Friday "there is the framework of a deal that is in place" and will be concluded after the season finishes on Sunday. The Northern Irishman, who has one year left on his contract, is being rewarded for returning Liverpool to the Champions League and putting the team in with a chance of winning the Premier League title. Going into the final round of matches, second-place Liverpool is two points behind Manchester City. Sections of the British media have reported that Rodgers new contract will run through 2018. Happ and catcher Erik Kratz had a plan. With the Tom Brady- Peyton Manning rivalry so well documented, theres no doubt Sundays AFC Championship game comes with added significance to the two first-ballot Hall of Famers. It will be their 15th head-to-head meeting and fourth in the post-season (Sunday at 2pm et/11am pt on CTV) and for his part, Brady isnt downplaying just how big the game is for him. "Im excited - Its everything you could ask for as an athlete," the New England Patriots quarterback told WEEI Radio in Boston on Monday. "We have a great opportunity ahead of us. It would be as satisfying a victory as weve ever had to go to Denver and win this game." With a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, theres no shortage of motivation for Sundays game, but its another chance for the two to stake claim to the title best QB of their generation. Brady owns the series edge over Manning 10-4 and is 2-1 head-to-head in the postseason. Sundays game will tie the two for most postseason meetings with other iconic rivals Brett Favre and Steve Young, and Terry Bradshaw and Ken Stabler. Brady knows as well as anyone about the challenge Manning and the Broncos offence presents. "Hes got great command of the offence," he said. "He can pretty much do whatever he wants. He obviously has a lot of confidence in what hes doing and he has confidence in the guys around him. "Once he sees the coverage, he tries to get the plays that can beat the coverage. It really forces the defense to playy very solid, to cover everything. Nike Free Run Herre Tilbud. Because if you dont then he does a great job finding the holes." While the Broncos finished the regular season atop the AFC standings and will enjoy home field advantage on Sunday, the Patriots came out ahead in their only meeting this season, a 34-31 overtime win in late November. Still, Brady says that means little come game time. "Theres nothing thats happened in the past thats going to help us try to win this game on Sunday," he said. "Well be able to take some things from the game we played and study them and prepare for them. But well have different things to do, theyll have different things to do. Their team is different than from when they played us, and were pretty different from when we played them." Denver opens the week as 4 1/2 point favourites, but Brady puts little stock in what the experts think ahead of the game. "Truthfully, I dont turn the TV on, I dont read anything," he said. I just try to focus on what I need to do. "Im sure no ones going to pick us to win this week. Weve had our backs against the wall for a while. Really the whole season weve lost players and teams have really counted us out. "Weve got a bunch of underdogs on our team, and well be an underdog again. Well see how that shapes up here at the end of the week. But I know that were as tough and physical as weve ever been, and thats the way were going to need to go out and play this game." ROME -- Serena Williams kept the crowd from being a factor in a 6-3, 6-0 victory over 10th-seeded home favourite Sara Errani to win the Italian Open for the third time Sunday. Asics Gel Lyte iii Sale . Errani was bidding to become the first Italian to win the tournament in nearly 30 years but the top-ranked Williams quickly took control in both sets and Errani appeared slowed by a left thigh problem. Errani left the court for an injury timeout while trailing 5-3 in the opening set and came back with her thigh bandaged. On the final point before she left the court, Errani pulled up and let a shot from Williams pass by her without even attempting to get to it. "Im sorry. You were unbelievable all week," Errani told fans during the victory ceremony, as she brushed back tears. "I tried to do my best and stayed on the court only for you." Williams other Rome titles came in 2002 and last year -- and she went on to win the French Open on both occasions. "Im also sorry for Sara today," Williams told the crowd in Italian. "She really played great all week." Later, seven-time champion Rafael Nadal was facing Novak Djokovic in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 meeting in the mens final of the last key clay-court tuneup for Roland Garros, which starts next weekend. A left thigh problem prompted Williams to withdraw before her quarterfinal match at the Madrid Open last week but now she appears back on track for the French. "Im not 100 per cent but Im just kind of going on adrenaline," Williams said. Organizers attempted to whip up patriotic fervour by having the Italian anthem sung before the players walked out onto the court, and fans continuously chanted "Sara, Sara" to try and encourage Errani in an atmosphere that more resembled a Davis Cup or Fed Cup setting. But Williams jumped out to a 3-0 lead and while Errani had a few chances to get back into the first set, Williams overpowered the Italian with her serve -- she had seven aces to Erranis none -- and overall attacking game. Still, Errani could console herself by becoming the first Italian runner-up in the tournament since Raffaella Reggi took the 1985 title in Taranto. The last Italian man to win was Adriano Panatta back in 1976. When former Italian player Lea Pericoli asked Errani during the trophy presentation if she was "disappointed" with her showing, the crowd responded with boos and whistles. Pericoli then acknowledged that Erranis appearance in the final was an accomplishment by itself. Injury permitting, Errani was slated to play the doubles final later with partner Roberta Vinci against Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik. It was the 60th title of Williams career, and a large portion of those trophies have come in recent years for the 32-year-old American. Martina Navratilova holds the record with 167 titles and Williams needs seven more to match Billie Jean King for sixth place on the all-time list. "Im like a fine wine, I guess -- at least my tennis is," Williams said. "My game gets better with age." Nike Roshe One Slip Uk . "Theyre my former club, but Im a Tiger now, and its just about winning games. It really doesnt matter who its against," Kinsler said. "Its more fun, because I know those guys and theyre friends, and its always fun to beat friends, but other than that, Im a Tiger, and Im trying to win for this club." Kinsler doubled three times and scored three runs, and Detroit snapped its four-game losing streak with a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Friday night. Kinsler was traded from Texas to the Tigers in an off-season blockbuster that sent Prince Fielder to the Rangers. Fielder was put on the disabled list before the game with what is likely to be a season-ending neck problem. Austin Jackson and Andrew Romine homered for Detroit, and Anibal Sanchez (2-2) allowed two runs and five hits over seven innings. He struck out five without a walk. Scott Baker (0-1) allowed six runs and eight hits for the Rangers in six innings. The AL Central-leading Tigers were finally facing some adversity after allowing 31 runs in their previous four games. Their recent road trip included travel problems and a 13-inning loss at Cleveland on Wednesday. Then they came home and played a day game Thursday against Texas, losing 9-2. "We probably were a little bit tired, but thats no excuse for this ballclub, and tonight we just looked sharper," Kinsler said. "We looked well rested and ready to play." The Tigers fell behind again when Sanchez allowed two runs in the second, but Baker didnt hold the lead for long. Jackson tied it with a two-run homer in the second, and Kinsler and Miguel Cabrera started the Detroit third with back-to-back doubles. Detroit scored two more runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Kinsler and a run-scoring grounder by Torii Hunter. Sanchez, who won the 2013 ERA title in the American League, hadnt made it through seven innings this season before Friday. This was his second start since missing around three weeks with a finger injury on his throwing hand. Nike Roshe One Print Casual Shoes. . "He pitched a really good game, especially once he got into a rhythm after the second," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "We didnt do a thing against him after that. He had a good breaking ball and he was keeping everything down. Give him a lot of credit." Mitch Moreland opened the scoring for Texas with a two-run double, but Sanchez allowed only two harmless singles after that. Baker, the 10th pitcher to start a game for the Rangers already this season, couldnt hold off the Tigers in the middle innings. Even Romine got in on the act in the sixth, ending a 2-for-35 stretch with a homer down the line in right that gave the Tigers a 6-2 lead. It was his first career home run. "I knew that it was hard enough, I just didnt know if it was going to stay fair, because I saw it hook, and obviously I had the best angle," Romine said. "Im thinking, God, that ball better stay fair, because I dont know what else I have to do to get a hit right now." Hunter added an RBI groundout in the seventh. MARTINSVILLE, Va. Adidas Superstar Black Mens . - Kyle Busch has seen it time and again at Martinsville Speedway. Driving down pit road, heading back onto the track and in contention for the lead, Busch is used to seeing the pole-sitter gun the engine just off the jack and reassume the race lead. Busch hopes to finally get to experience that for himself at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday after earning the pole on NASCARs smallest, tightest track for the first time in 19 career starts. "I think thats a great thing for us," Busch said after winning the pole with a lap at 99.674 mph. "We get to pit there and of course drop the jack and just lunge across the line and be good. "You need to still run up front all day. I think that its a great opportunity for us to pick up some spots say if were second, third, fourth, whatever, but you definitely always want to stay as close to the front as you can and try not to use that box as much as some guys have in the past." The pole is the 14th of Buschs career. In an interesting twist under NASCARs new knockout qualifying system, Busch won it while Joey Logano set a track record. That came at 100.201 mph during the first phase of two-session qualifying. All 44 cars competed in the 30-minute first session, and the top 12 moved into the 10-minute phase two. Denny Hamlin earned the No. 2 starting spot with a lap at 99.548 mph, and will be followed on the starting grid by Logano and Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. That puts Busch in some pretty accomplished company because Hamlin (4), Johnson and Gordon (8 each) have won a lot. Busch, though, is coming off a victory last week at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and while he said it wasnt dominating, it gave him hope that the Joe Gibbs Racing teams are coming together. "It just seems to be working well right now, whatever is working," he said. Hamlin, who promised earlier in the day that he would win on Sunday, wasnt in love with the outside starting spot because it can be tricky to get down to the bottom on restarts from the outside, said nothing that happened in practice or qualifying made his change his view of how it can all unfold. "I knew, even going into this weekend, I knew we were going to be really good contenders and be in the mix anyway," he said. "I feel like after running a couple laps of practice I felt like this was a car that was capable of winning. I think with tire management being more of a factor than its ever been, it kind of lends itself to my driving style even more. For that reason I think well be tough on Sunday." Logano has two top-10 finishes on the 0.526-mile oval, but none since 2010. "So weve got a track record, but we dont have a pole. How does that work?" he asked. A solid pit position, he said, could help turns things around on Sunday. "Obviously, the pit stall is very important, especially here. Its a dangerous pit road, so you want to get a nice spot you can get in and out of, but obviously here its a slow pit road and you can make up a lot with timing lines on pit road," he said. "For that reason alone its big, and thats worth multiple spots throughout the race when youre thinking about making a lot of pit stops." Danica Patrick qualified 10th, her best starting spot in a race not held at Daytona. Her previous best starting position was 21st, accomplished twice last season. Adidas Zx Flux Womens Floral . SEATTLE -- Clay Buchholz felt exhausted after throwing only 76 pitches. Nike Air Max Thea Zwart . His return to the mound for the Red Sox after nearly a month on the disabled list was a test by an aggressive Seattle offence that had battered Boston pitching the first two games of the series. "They made me work hard," Buchholz said. "I knew they were swinging. Thats about the most aggressive team that Ive pitched to in my career. For the number of pitches that I threw that was a grinding, stressful outing knowing I cant make a mistake." Buchholz pitched into the eighth inning in his first start since late May, David Ortiz gave him cushion from the start with his 449th career home run in the first inning, and Boston avoided being swept with a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night. Outside of three batters in the second inning, Buchholzs return could not have gone much better. He was efficient, he pitched deep into the game to save Bostons bullpen and he relied on more than just two pitches. Buchholz was using just his fastball and cutter early in the season. The time away allowed him to work on his curveball and changeup and as his outing progressed, those pitches got better. Buchholz was so good with his pitch efficiency teammates were questioning whether the count was correct. "At one point I had to ask if the pitch count was right because it was the fifth and he had like 45 pitches," Boston catcher A.J. Pierzynski said. "It was good. It was an encouraging outing and Im glad for Clay that he went out and pitched like he did." Ortiz knocked around Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma, plunking a two-run shot off the windows of the cafe in right field at Safeco Field for a 2-0 lead, his 18th of the season. He drove in another run in the third with a line drive off the wall in right that barely cleared the glove of Seattle right fielder Stefen Romero. "I thought we had a very good approach against Iwakuma, who pitches very well in this ballpark," Boston manager John Farrell said. Buchholz (3-4) was knocked around in the second, giving up home runs to Kyle Seager and Mike Zunino, but otherwise avoided problems. Buchholz retired 11 of 12 during one stretch and pitched out of trouble in the sixth inning when the first two batters reached on singles. Buchholz won for the first time since May 2. He had been on the disabled list since May 27 with a hyperextended left knee and after two rehab starts in the minors was brought back to the Red Soxs rotation. Buchholz went 7 1-3 innings, giving up seven hits and four runs. He struck out two and walked none. He might have gotten through the eighth but Brad Miller led off the inning with a homer. Reliever Andrew Miller struck out pinch-hitters Willie Bloomquist and Cole Gillespie to end the eighth. Koji Uehara pitched the ninth for his 16th save despite allowing two runners. "He looked confident, he looked relaxed," Farrell said of Buchholz. "He was able to make pitches with four different types of pitches. An overall outstanding performance." Iwakuma struggled for the second straight outing, his pitches missing location. Iwakuma (5-4) lasted just four innings, giving up eight hits and five earned runs. Iwakuma was done when he failed to record an out after the first three batters of the fifth inning. This wasnt the first time Boston has made Iwakumas night short. Last season, Iwakuma lasted a career-low three innings, giving up eight hits and six runs against the Red Sox. "I couldnt get the first pitch strike which cost me in a couple of at-bats," Iwakuma said through an interpreter. "They took advantage of that, so not being able to throw strike one got to me." The right-handed outfielder was drafted out of Blyth Academy by the Seattle Mariners, 74th overall. The pick was the last in the Competitive Balance Round, conducted directly after the second round. Morgan must now weigh out his options as he also has a scholarship offer from North Carolina State University. He will have to choose between development with the Mariners or a free education at a strong ACC school. "It crosses your mind sometimes, of course youre going to think about it, but the less you think about it the better it is," Morgan told TSNs Scott MacArthur earlier this year. "Just go out and play the game you love and have fun with it." The standout hitter was ranked 84th among draft-eligible prospects by MLB.com. After slipping from the summit during the week, the Gunners overcame struggling Crystal Palace 2-0 on Sunday thanks to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlains second-half brace. Now the focus turns to Monday night when Manchester City, which is two points behind Arsenal, hosts Chelsea, which is three points further back in third. "I will watch that game with interest because its two competitors against us and its always interesting to see how they behave," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "We gained some points through some other opponents like Liverpool and Man United over this weekend, and I think we know that our results at the Emirates will be massively important until the end." Liverpool remained in fourth place, but its 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion was a missed opportunity to strengthen its pursuit of Champions League qualification. Having led through Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool defender Kolo Toure sloppily gave the ball away to allow Victor Anicheb to equalize for West Brom. Although Wenger still talks of United as a rival, an eighth loss of the title defence -- at Stoke on Saturday -- means the champions are seven points behind Liverpool. And Arsenal is 15 points ahead of United in its quest for a first league title in a decade, after bouncing back from a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Southampton on Tuesday. Despite dominating against Palace, Arsenal was frustrated throughout the first half in its pursuit of a goal against their relegation-threatened but well-organized London rivals. The breakthrough came inside two minutes of the restart as Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his first Arsenal goal since December 2012 on his first leaguee start since being injured on the opening day of this season in August. Jermon Bushrod Jersey. Santi Cazorla weaved his way through the Palace defence and dinked the ball over for Oxlade-Chamberlain to lift the ball over goalkeeper Julian Speroni from close range. And the 20-year-old England midfielder netted a second in the 73rd minute as he slotted seamlessly back into the injury-hit team. Thomas Rosicky knocked the ball forward to Olivier Giroud, who backheeled it for Oxlade-Chamberlain to strike low into the net as Arsenal went a 10th game in all competitions unbeaten. "Its something I want to add to my game -- more goals -- so it was nice to get two today," he said. And this was a rare day when Luis Suarez couldnt score for Liverpool, instead turning provider at the Hawthorns. In a disjointed first-half display by his team, the Uruguay striker fed the ball to Sturridge at the far post to poke the ball into the West Brom net in the 24th minute. But the winning position was thrown away in the 67th when Toures slack cross-field clearance went straight to Anichebe, who levelled with a low shot from a central position. "Kolo probably shouldnt have received the ball under pressure, and a pass can be misplaced," Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said. "We look to build our game from behind and that has won us many games this season, our ability to construct the game from behind. "Sometimes it will cost you. Today was unfortunately one of those days. Kolo Toure has been brilliant for me, a real leader and an outstanding professional and unfortunately it was that mistake, but theres no blame on him." The draw pushed West Brom a point clear of the relegation zone, just above Palace on goal difference. Every night of the Stanley Cup playoffs, TSN hockey analyst and former NHL goaltender Jamie McLennan breaks down each goalies performance. Nike Free 3.0 v5 Mujer . Jamies number grades given are out of five, with five being the best mark. Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh (2) - Fleury had a great game tonight for 59 minutes and I had a 4-rating cued up. And why wouldnt I when you stop 42 shots? The second period was his best work when he made at least six big saves on Jack Johnson, Ryan Johansen and Brandon Dubinsky. But its not the saves you make, its the goals you allow. There was a bad bounce on the tying goal, the puck jumping over his stick behind the net, but the game-winning goal was stoppable on all accounts and a series-changer! Where does he go from here mentally? That will be the TSN Turning Point of the series. Sergei Bobrovsky, Columbus (3) - He had tough start as he gave up three early goals, but he locked it down after that. Bobrovsky made good saves on James Neal and Lee Stempniak to keep his team in it. Frederik Andersen, Anaheim (2) - Just not good enough tonight for his team, giving up two bad goals to Jamie Benn and Vernon Fiddler- both short side. Fiddlers was worse because he did not seal the post properly from a bad angle. Andersen desperately needs a bounce-back game in Anaheim. Jonas Hiller, Anaheim (N/R) - He faced one shot in 10 minutes. Kari Lehtonen, Dallas (4) - He had no chance on the Patrick Maroon goal. Lehtonen made good saves on Kyle Palmieri, Emerson Etem and Corey Perry. He was confident, in control and played an aggressive game. Lehtonen was good with the puck again, even to the point where he went for the empty-netter with under a minute to play. Ryan Miller, St. Louis (3) - The game-winning goal was a great look by Patrick Kane, who went short side past Kevin Shattenkirks leg. Miller made big saves on Brandon Saad, Andrew Shaw, Bryan Bickell and Kane earlier in the game and was very solid in his crease work through screens and tips. He didnt have much chance on backdoor play by Kane and tips by Bickell and Shaw. Corey Crawford, Chicago (3) - Crawford had two big saves on T.J. Oshie and Vladimir Tarasenko in OT to bounce back from two quickies in the last minute of the second period. The Tarasenko goal snuck just over the pad and under the glove short side - one he needs to have, but resiliency and mental toughness always come to mind when I think of Crawford, a battler whom his team plays hard for. Nike Free 5.0 Flyknit Outlet . Krul saved spot kicks from Costa Rica captain Bryan Ruiz and Michael Umana after the match had finished 0-0. No. 1-ranked Nadal, in his first tournament since losing the Australian Open final, played his best match in Brazil and will face fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar in the semifinals. Andjuar ripped through Tommy Robredo of Spain 6-1, 6-1.WATERLOO, Ont. -- Despite periods of steady rain, Inbee Park was on fire. The South Korean burned up Grey Silo Golf Course on Sunday, tying a course record of 10-under 61 to win the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic by three strokes at 23-under par. Five birdies on the front nine and five on the back sealed the 10th career win and first this season for Park, who was two strokes off leader Shanshan Feng of China heading into the final round. Feng faltered on the day and was only able to shoot 3 under par 68 to finish at 18 under, slipping into third place. Miamis Christie Kerr blew by Feng with a bogey-free round of 8 under 63 to finish at 20-under par. Park will take home the $225,000 of the $1.5-million moving her up to fourth on the money list this season at $744,510. Kerr earned $136,903 and Feng $99,314. Had it not been for Parks scorching putter, Kerr might have caught her. "It seems like today I just put the putter head on my ball and it just wants to go in the hole. It was just one of those days where I really didnt need to try hard to make it go in. I just needed to really trust my break and just play my own golf," Park said, explaining her barrage of birdies. Park admitted she peeked at the leaderboard from time to time, as she didnt really pull away from the pack until she birdied the 14th hole to go to 22-under par and stretch her lead to four strokes. "I didnt really watch the board all the time. I watched a couple times and I knew everybody was having a good score. I didnt know where Christie was because she wasnt playing with me, but I always knew where Shanshan was." Feng said she was in awe of Parks putting, not believing that she could sink so many birdies. At one point, Park was in position for a coveted and extremely rare 59. "I was joking with her, because she made all the putts almost a I said, Do you have GPS in your ball," Feng said with a laugh. "She said this was her first time to putt this well this year. I said well, I bring you good luck, so she owes me dinner now. Shes going to spend a lot of money." Though she had a hard time keeping pace with Park, Feng wouldnt let up and cooncede the tournament. Nike Free 3.0 v3 Hombre. "I didnt give up any time during the round," she said. "Three-under wasnt a great score, but I think I did well the whole week." Kerr basically had to tip her hat to Park for her day on the course. "I never looked at the scoreboard until I came off 17 just, with a reachable par 5, to see where I was and I was stunned because I was 7 under for the day (at that point). Youd think youd be close," Kerr said, adding that she did everything she possible could for the last two days, shooting a combined 14-under par. "I guess that second round at 2 under kind of hurt me. But I mean, with this kind of golf course, you have to have four really stellar days and I had three really stellar days. You know, theres only one winner so I have to be pleased with my performance." If Kerr and Feng has anyone to blame for Parks performance this week its Stacy Lewis, who knocked Park out of first in the Rolex rankings last week after 59 weeks as No. 1. "I think, definitely, I really kickstarted maybe the last week," Park said. "I just needed some kind of breakthrough or some kind of motivation to go lower. I played great golf, but just not enough. I feel like Im playing better golf and Ive got a lot of confidence from this week." Also gaining confidence is Sue Kim of Langley, B.C., who was the top Canadian at the tournament, finishing in a tie for 35th at 8 under par after shooting 3 under on the day. Kim said she almost skipped the tournament to have a week of rest after missing the cut the last two weeks in New Jersey and Alabama. "I hit it great out there," Kim said. "I hit the greens in regulation, every day, was improving. I hit 17 greens today and just gave myself a lot of birdie chances." Being the low Canadian on the weekend was special to her. "In Canada, as a Canadian, I always want to represent as well as I can," she said. Behind Kim was Brooke Henderson (6 of Smith Falls, Ont., and Hamiltons Alena Sharp (71) at 6 under, Jennifer Kirby (70) of Paris, Ont., at 4 under, and Brantfords Nicole Vandermade (72) at 2. The NFL Combine wrapped up this week and the impact on the mock drafts and predictions around the league is already being felt. Rishard Matthews Dolphins Jersey . While some players merely solidified their standing on big boards and mock drafts, several others saw their Combine results either boost or drop their placing in the mind of scouts and general managers across the league. Some notes from the NFL Combine Two-Horse Race A look at the most recent batch of mock drafts has two players showing up more often than any others at the top spot. One wont surprise you – South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney – but one certainly could – UCF quarterback Blake Bortles. While questions about his work ethic may knock Clowney out of the top spot, his blistering 40-yard dash time (4.53) ensures that if he does fall, it wont be very far. Bortles meanwhile impressed both on the field and off. Almost all draftniks and experts consider the once unknown QB to be a legit top end prospect. Of the 15 expert mock drafts gathered for TSN.cas database, Bortles had the most first overall picks of any player. Quarterback Battle While mock drafters are slotting Bortles into the first pick (owned by the Houston Texans) more than any other quarterback, that doesnt necessarily mean hes viewed as the top quarterback. Of the 15 expert mock drafts culled by TSN.ca, Bortles had just the third highest average draft position. First was Texas A&Ms Johnny Manziel with an ADP of 3.1 followed by Louisvilles Teddy Bridgewater (3.9) and then Bortles at 4.7. Dont Forget Me While hes not in the same boat as Manziel, Bridgewater, or Bortles, Fresno States Derek Carr reportedly had a very strong NFL Combine showing, particularly while interviewing with teams. At this point Carr appears to be a mid-first round pick at best but his showing has some quarterback-needy teams considering passing on one of the top three QBs early in the draft to fill other positions, while hoping to land Carr later on. There are reports the gap between the Big Three and Carr is not very wide. Moving Up The biggest benefactors of the NFL Combine, among the early picks at least, were Auburn OT Greg Robinson and Buffalo LB Khalil Mack. Robinsons athleticism seems to have solidified him as the top offensive tackle on the board and boosted his projected status from Top 10 pick to Top 5. Robinson could even hear his name as early as second overall to the St. Louis Rams. Mack is another former potential Top 10 pick that could easily find his way into the Top 5 come May. While his destination is hard to pinpoint at this point in the evaluation process, respected NFL Network draftnik Mike Mayock said he would consider Mack with the first overall pick. Thats high praise! Moving Down The rise of Robinson and Mack is having adverse effects on players of similar talent at the same position of the two in Jake Matthews and Anthony Barr. Once considered two of the top three players in the draft (alongside Clowney) by some, Matthews and Barr are no longer locks to be Top 5 picks and thats in large part due to Robinson proving hes the better offensive tackle, and Mack proving hes far closer to Clowney than originally thought. At this point it wouldnt be shocking to see Barr fall out of the Top 10 picks (ADP currently 8.9) while even Matthews could see himself suffer the same fate (ADP currently 5.9) the way things are playing out. To be fair, in Barrs case, Mack isnt the sole reason the UCLA pass rushers stock is falling; only 15 reps on the bench press could scare away a few teams. Lions targeting a CB The Detroit Lions need help at cornerback and most draftniks expect them to get it at the draft. Of the expert mock drafts culled by TSN.ca, 86% of them have the Lions taking a cornerback 10th overall. The only question in their minds is if it will be Oklahoma States Justin Gilbert, taken by the Lions in 53% of mock drafts, or Michigan States Darqueze Dennard, taken by Detroit in 33% of mock drafts. The current draft landscape lays out with a slight drop off after the top nine players. From there its still anyones guess as to who leads the second tier of players. Many mock drafters see the Lions filling a need and taking whichever cornerback they have ranked the highest. Wide Receiver Battle This position battle is unlike the quarterback battle as Clemson standout Sammy Watkins is the clear cut top pass catcher in this years draft. The battle is for the second best receiver with USCs Marqise Lee losing his spot to Texas A&Ms Mike Evans in 80% of mock drafts gathered. The receiver class is very deep this year with good pass catchers still likely to be available midway through the second round and if Lee finds himself engulfed in the second tier of receivers, hes no lock to hear his name on the first day of the NFL Draft. The true battle could be between Evans and North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron. The difference between their ADP is currently only a couple of picks (Evans: 13.8 to Ebron:16.0). Jason Trusnik Dolphins Jersey . ANAHEIM, Calif. Adidas Superstar Baratas . -- The Houston Astros saw a completely different Jered Weaver than the one they faced 6 1/2 weeks ago at Minute Maid Park, when they hit four home runs off him. The Los Angeles Angels ace pitched a two-hitter Wednesday night in the rematch, posting his first complete game in nearly two years, and Albert Pujols hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth to lead the Halos to a 2-1 victory. "Those guys roughed me up a little bit at their place, so I wanted to come in here and have a good game and keep us in it as much as possible," Weaver said. "Their guy was throwing a good game, too. So it was nice to come out on top." Weaver (5-3) threw 94 pitches while going the distance for the 12th time in 241 career starts and first time since Aug. 6, 2012, when he beat the Athletics 4-0 with a four-hitter at Oakland. "It was definitely exciting to run out there for the ninth and hear the fans," Weaver said. "Thats what you pitch for -- to go deep into games and finish it off." Weaver struck out five, walked one and retired 17 of his last 19 batters -- including 10 straight after giving up a leadoff homer to George Springer in the fourth. The three-time All-Star is 5-1 with a 1.70 ERA over his last seven starts. Weaver hit Springer with a pitch with one out in the ninth, then picked him off after getting a sign from manager Mike Scioscia in the dugout. He got the final out by retiring Dexter Fowler on a popup to third base. "In that situation, Im not really worried about baserunners. But Scioscia called a great pickoff there," Weaver said. "Usually when I look over, I can see a little bit of the runner. But when I looked over before that pick, I couldnt see him. So I figured he was off the bag pretty good. I just made a good quick move, and that definitely took a lot of pressure off." Weaver threw a called third strike to Jason Castro in the fourth for his 1,281st career strikeout, overtaking Mike Witt on the Angels career list behind Nolan Ryan and Chuck Finley. "I didnt even know that I was coming up on any milestone like that at all," Weaver said. "I think I threw strikeouts out the door maybe two years ago. I mean, its great when youre young and you just want to go out there and try to strike everybody out. But then you realize that getting early outs is just as important and it helps you get deeper in games." Collin McHugh (2-3) lost his third straight decision over four starts despite allowing just two runs and four hits in seven innings. The right-hander struck out seven and walked two. Erick Aybar drove in the Angels other run with a third-inning single. "You know coming into it that Weavers arguably one of if not the best pitchers in this league," McHugh said. "So you know that youre not going to be able to give up a lot and that its going to be a dogfight." Pujols who homered twice on Sunday against Tampa Bay ace David Price, drove a 2-1 pitch into the top tier of the double-decker bullpen in left field for his 13th homer this season and 505th of his career to surpass Eddie Murray for 25th place on the career list. On hand to see it was Air Force staff sergeant Tom Sherrill of Pomona, California, who came up with Pujols 500th home run ball on April 22 at Nationals Park in Washington. "What I did two or three weeks ago, I put that in the past. Ive flipped the page," Pujols said. "My goal is to try to concentrate on whats in front of me and help this organization win. I dont get caught up too much in numbers." NOTES: The jockey and trainer for Triple Crown hopeful California Chrome -- Victor Espinoza and Art Sherman -- each threw out a ceremonial first pitch. ... Angels CF Mike Trout missed his first game of the season because of a sore left hamstring, but was available to pinch-hit if necessary. He expects to be back in the lineup Friday night for the start of a three-game series with Kansas City. Collin Cowgill started in CF for the third time this season and robbed Jose Altuve of a hit with a diving catch of his shallow flyball leading off the game. Altuve was 0 for 4, ending his career-best 12-game hitting streak. ...... Pujols had 43 home runs against the Astros, tying Aramis Ramirez for the most among active players. Adidas Superstar Baratas España . - The Baltimore Ravens and left tackle Eugene Monroe reached agreement on a five-year contract Friday. And Kevin Martin said he had no one to blame but himself. Morris and Brad Jacobs will square off in the mens final Sunday at the Olympic trials, while Jennifer Jones and Sherry Middaugh were set to play Saturday evening in the womens final. "Either my first or second one in six, that was the game-breaker," said Martin. "We force them to one there, weve got all the momentum going into seven." Instead, Martin lost 7-5, letting Morris score a deuce in six and another in eight, then losing the hammer in nine when he failed to blank on an open hit. It was a sweet win for Morris, who took over as skip this year on Jim Cotters B.C. rink with the Olympics in his sights. Cotter moved to third, although he still throws fourth rocks. "It feels great, its been a real grind of a year . . . We seem to be playing our best curling right now and Im just real proud of the guys," he said. He gave full marks to Cotter. Martin said he was surprised at the shots Cotter made. As the strategist, Morris watched his former skip all week and put a rock in the one spot in nine where Martin had nosed one earlier in the round robin. Martin, who was trying for his fourth trip to the Olympics, kept his composure but said this will be his last Olympic Trials. A frustrated Marc Kennedy, Martins second, couldnt hide his feelings as he smaashed is broom into shards in the hallway after he left the ice. Adidas Superstar Azul y Blanco. Lead Ben Hebert said Martin kept them in the hunt all week (they lost only once to Jacobs). "Kevin was the best player here all week, standing on his head just to keep us in it, thats the reason we were 6-1, and he didnt play good today," he said, adding that he isnt giving up on a return trip to the Olympics, after winning gold with Martin in 2010. "The game should have been over after five or six and we let them off the hook." Morris, who was also part of that 2010 gold-medal team, said they knew they werent favoured to win. "We didnt mind the underdog tag and we knew what we were capable of." As for the future of the team if they dont beat Jacobs Sunday, Cotter said that remains up in the air. "Weve talked about the future and who knows," he said. "Were focusing on this moment here and now and what our game plan is going to be tomorrow. Were just going to go out and try and play our best game." Their best game will be needed against Brier winner Jacobs, who swept the field in the round robin, handing Martin his only loss, to move directly to the final. "We just need to keep doing what weve been doing," said Jacobs, who practised Saturday. "Everyone is throwing the rock great on this team . . . We just need to come out and perform like weve performed all week and let the chips fall where they may." TORONTO - Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey used words like growing, adjusting and learning frequently throughout a 30-minute conference call with reporters Monday. Canada Goose Borden Bomber Sale .His young team is soaking up the NBA playoff experience and showing the Brooklyn Nets that they wont be pushovers at the same time. What Caseys squad lacks in experience, it makes up for in effort. That was on full display a day earlier as Toronto showed its mettle in an 87-79 road victory that tied the best-of-seven first-round series at two games apiece. The Raptors are focused on results this spring but theyre also trying to build a foundation they hope will lead to long-term success. Were a young team, nobody expected us to be here, Casey said. Every experience is a new experience for us. Guys are growing in every situation. After a jittery start, Toronto has held its own against a tough Brooklyn lineup that features veteran players Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson, Paul Pierce and Deron Williams. The Raptors are banged up and have had to go deep into their bench over the first four games. But they have responded well as a team in a series that will be a key building block for the future.Going through the playoffs is nothing but a plus for our franchise, Casey said. As I said, you dont want it to be a one-time (appearance) in the playoffs and never be seen again for six more years. You want it to be a growing experience. With our core guys being so young, that should be their goal going forward. Now that youve been in the playoffs once, you know what it tastes like, you know what it feels like. You know going through the season when the coach is preaching physicality, how hard youve got to play, how youve got to take care of the ball, why hes saying that. Because all that comes into play in playoff basketball.Several Toronto players are nursing injuries but most are expected to be available for Wednesdays Game 5 at Air Canada Centre.Among the starters, Kyle Lowry has been hobbled by a sore knee and Amir Johnson has had ankle problems. Patrick Patterson was a little gimpy last night, according to Casey, who added that Landry Fields (back) was feeling much better. Were nicked up, banged up a little bit but nothing that we know of thats major right now, Casey said. The series will return to Barclays Center on Friday for Game 6. If a seventh game is necessary, it will be played on Sunday in Toronto. This whole series for us is a learning experience because we are such a young team, Casey said. Its the first time in the playoffs for a lot of our key guys. So Im learning that they are growing from it. They are getting better in certain situations and theyre still making mistakes in certain situations. But the adjustment part is something thats big for us. To be able to change things on a days notice or even in game situations, thats good to know and good to see.DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points in the Game 4 win and Lowry added 22. The Raptors came through with key defensive stops late in the game and showed they wont be intimidated by the Nets.I think as the series has gone on our guys have gotten more comfortable, Casey said. But again we know were going against a very veteran, experienced team that has seen everything and experienced everything.Theyre going to make some adjustments, were going to have to continue to make adjustments as the series goes on.The Raptors have managed to split the first four games despite the struggles of starter Terrence Ross, who was held off the scoresheet in 16 minutes of play on Sunday.Casey plans to stick with the youngster, noting its important to keep an eye on long-term development as the post-season continues. The only thing that will help him next year is to go through this, he said. He is a talented young man. This says nothing about his potential and where hes going to be this time next year. This is still a learning experience for him. Is he going to stub his toe? Yes. But hes still got to go through it.I thought his defence was superb in the first quarter last night against Deron Williams. I thought he did a good job. Hes just got to get a feel and a rhythm and a style of play with his offence. The Raptors should get a boost from the boisterous Air Canada Centre crowd. Casey wants his players to feed off that energy and build on what they have accomplished so far.I think our guys are growing as we go, he said. Thats the hard thing about being a young team in the playoffs. A team like Brooklyn has seen everything, theyve experienced everything, theyve had every atmosphere you can have in the playoffs and some of them have won championships.Thats the advantage you have as an experienced team and the disadvantage you have as a young team. But our guys are growing and learning as we go.Notes: Game 4 was a ratings hit for TSN. Overnight data from BBM Canada indicated an average audience of 885,000 viewers watched the game. It was the second most-watched Raptors game ever, just behind the teams Game 7 second-round loss to Philadelphia in 2001, the network said in a release. Sports TV ratings have skyrocketed in recent years following the introduction of a new ratings system.Follow @GregoryStrongCP on Twitter. Nike Air Max 90 Rood Dames . Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. Adidas Supercolor Rose Pale .ca. Hi Kerry, I think theres a significant flaw in the NHLs instant replay process - or perhaps you have an explanation Im not aware of? During the Leafs/Kings game Monday night, L.A. scored an early goal. It wasnt clear that the puck crossed the line, so the play continued on. At the next stoppage, they went upstairs, and it was quickly called a good goal because it clearly crossed the line. However, if you watch the replay of the goal, Marian Gaborik circles into Berniers crease and obstructs Berniers ability to slide left and stop the Anze Kopitar shot. He was standing in the middle of the crease well before the puck crossed the line. At the point in time the puck crossed the line, the ref wasnt aware it crossed the line and the play continued. Therefore, there was no need to wave the goal off due to goalie interference. When the play went for review, all the boys in the War Room looked for was the puck crossing the line. In actuality, the puck did cross the line, but the goal should have been disallowed due to goalie interference. And because the War Room cant look at goalie interference, the wrong call had to be made. Another conspiracy call against the Leafs in L.A. or am I just missing something? Craig Dalziel Craig: You havent missed a thing as evidenced by your excellent observation and well prepared question. The correct decision made within the allowable criteria and capability of the video review process to determine a good goal on this play reinforces my ongoing publicly stated position that the referees must be allowed to personally review potential goals where there is any suspicion that a violation of goalkeeper interference had occurred. Even though play continued for approximately 45 seconds after Anze Kopitar fired an undetected rocket under the crossbar for a potential goal, one or all of the officials on the ice could have determined, (perhaps through reflective hindsight) that Marian Gaborik had maintained a significant presence and initiated contact with Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier prior to the shot. They might have even determined that Bernier was unable to move freely about his crease as a result of Gaboriks intrusion and contact inside the blue paint. The time lapse that resulted could have contributed to a foggy recollection of the play by the officials. Perhaps the fact that it all happened very quickly in real time just might have caused them to miss the potential goalie interference. The fact remains, if they had detected the incidental contact on what they thought was of no consequence at the time of an undetected goal, nothing prevented the referee(s) from disallowing that goal as a result of goalkeeper interference once video review informed them that the puck had in fact entered the net. For whatever reason the call was missed on the ice in the moment, if the referee(s) had the opportunity to review a play of this nature my best guess is they just might have disallowed the potential goal. As we know, goalie interference is the on-ice officials call to make. Most often, they could surely use the benefit of video replay to make this very difficult call correctly. Lets not be too quick to cast blame on the referees however. They want the authority and ability to review goalie interference. It just hasnt been granted to them at this point. As we more closely examine this play Craig, Bernier set himself at the right side post in a butterfly position and then chose to flop as he moved across the crease prior to the contact initiated by Gaborik. Some might suggest that Bernier put himself in a position where he would not have been able to make the save on Kopitars shot regardless of any interference created by Gaborik. While we could debate that distinct possibility, rule 69.3 clearly states that if an attacking player initiates contact with a goalkeeper, incidental or otherwise, while the goalkeeper is in his goal crease, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed. 69.1 also provides that goals should be disallowed only if an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeepers ability to move freely within his crease and defend his goal. Gaborik entered the crease willingly and not through contact with Leafs Captain Dion Phaneuf. By his positioning (significant presence inside the crease) and contact, Gaborik impaired Berniers ability to move freely within his crease and defend his goal. I have to believe that, upon further review, most referees would determine that a violation of rule 69 had resulted and the good goal would be overturned with a call at ice level. LOUIS - The Cincinnati Reds bullpen continues to struggle. It appears the ownership of the Pittsburgh Penguins feels head coach Dan Bylsma is one member of the organization that should take the fall for this years early playoff exit at the hands of the New York Rangers. According to Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, sources say ownership believes Bylsma lost the team, especially franchise players Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, and have favoured his dismissal. Penguins ownership continues to hold meetings that are expected to determine the fate of Bylsma as well as general manager Ray Shero. "I think its a foregone conclusion (that Bylsma will be gone)," TSN Hockeys Bob McKenzie said on TSN Radio 1050. "In the past, Bylsma was seen a as a beloved figure by the Penguins players but I think anything but that is the case right now." The Tribune-Review report indicates that ownership feels Sheros signing of Bylsma to a two-year extension after last years playoff loss to the Boston Bruins in four straight games ties him to hhis head coach. "I do believe the reports in Pittsburgh that there is some thought of going deeper than just Bylsma, but I dont know if thats being signed off in terms of general manager Ray Sheros future," McKenzie said. "Is it possible Shero could lose his job? I think its possible. Is it possible that he could end up staying on? I think thats somewhat possible too." Sources told the Tribune-Review the players werent happy with the length of practices, the number of meetings and a general lack of fun atmosphere around the team this season. Specifically, Crosby and Malkin were not happy with the perceived criticism they received from Bylsma during team meetings. The Penguins will hold their final media availability of the season at CONSOL Energy Center on Thursday.
