PITTSBURGH, Pa. Dorian ODaniel Jersey . - Carter Hutton knows hes not Pekka Rinne, so it makes no sense to even try.Instead, the Nashville Predators backup goaltender, thrust into a starting role while Rinne recovers from a sprained knee, figures its better to just stick with what works for him.I just keep it simple, play my game and control what I can, Hutton said. The guys battle hard in front of me and try to make the first save here and try to give us a chance to win every night. The formula worked perfectly in a 4-0 romp over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday. Hutton stopped all 21 shots he faced for his second career shutout as the Predators won in regulation in Pittsburgh for the first time since 2004.Gabriel Bourque, Roman Josi, Eric Nystrom and Mike Fisher scored for the Central Division leaders, who ended a difficult post All-Star road trip through St. Louis, Colorado and Pittsburgh a respectable 1-1-1.We felt like lately weve been playing hard games, especially out of the break, Nashville forward Mike Ribeiro said. We thought we could play better in front of our goalie. Got on our forecheck, were pressing and able to create turnovers.Hutton improved to 3-1-2 while temporarily filling in for Rinne. The Predators ended a five-game losing streak to Pittsburgh by taking advantage of sloppy play by the Penguins, who have lost six of eight.Nystrom and Bourque pounced on Pittsburgh turnovers — one of them by captain Sidney Crosby — to give Hutton all the support he needed.Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 saves for the Penguins but received no help from Pittsburghs sputtering offence. We had some mistakes that ended up in the back of our net and were playing up hill from there, Crosby said. We still had a lot of time to get back in the game, but we have to figure out how to score goals. The Penguins have scored just twice in their last three games, both in an overtime win at New Jersey on Friday in which they took 43 shots. Pittsburgh kept Hutton a little busier two days later but spent most of the afternoon playing from behind as Nashville made former Penguins forward James Neal a winner in his return to the city where he became an All-Star.Neal spent three-plus seasons with the Penguins, becoming a 40-goal scorer being shipped to Nashville last June on a draft-day swap for Patric Hornqvist and Nick Spaling. While Neals scoring is down a bit, the Predators are off to the best start in the franchises history. He was held without a point in 15:09 of ice time but provided a nice screen in front on Fishers 12th goal of the season that made it 4-0 midway through the third period.By then, Nashville was firmly in control thanks to more than a little help from the Penguins.Josis slap shot through traffic zipped past Fleurys glove 4:05 into the game and Bourque doubled the lead less than three minutes later when Pittsburgh defenceman Simon Despres attempted clearing pass from the corner instead went right into the slot and onto Bourques stick. He slammed it past Fleury and the Predators had matched their combined goal total in their previous two visits to Consol Energy Center. You just cant make plays like that, Penguins coach Mike Johnston said. That wasnt a good choice by (Despres).Hutton rarely needed to be spectacular but made a couple of pretty saves when the Penguins were pressing in the second period. He stuffed a hard-charging Crosby at the end of a power play then turned aside a breakaway by Spaling and a wrist shot from in close by Paul Martin.Nystrom put the notion of any sort of Pittsburgh rally to rest with less than a minute to go in the second. Taylor Peck poked the puck away from Crosby as Crosby attempted to exit the Pittsburgh zone and slipped a pass to Nystrom, who was behind two Pittsburgh defencemen. Two flicks of the stick and Fleury was badly out of position. Nystroms sixth goal of the year pushed it to 3-0 and the Predators cruised.NOTES: Fisher has 12 goals and 10 assists in 25 games since returning from an Achilles injury. ... Pittsburgh played its fifth straight game without forward Evgeni Malkin, who is out with an undisclosed injury. Malkin skated with the team on Saturday and could return at some point this week. ... The Penguins begin a three-game road swing through western Canada on Wednesday when they play at Edmonton. ... Nashville begins a three-game homestand on Tuesday against Toronto. Breeland Speaks Chiefs Jersey .com) - Ben Lovejoy tallied a goal and an assist as the Anaheim Ducks cruised into the All-Star break with a 6-3 victory against the Calgary Flames. Kendall Fuller Jersey . Harris has played in six games since joining the Argos in 2012, completing 17-of-35 passes for 256 yards and one touchdown. http://www.authoritychiefsshop.com/ . -- The Tampa Bay Lightning are disappointed, though not discouraged.TORONTO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Frederik Gauthier to a three-year entry level contract. Gauthier, 18, was the Maple Leafs first-round pick (21st overall) in the 2013 draft. The six-foot-five, 214-pound centre has played 23 games with the Rimouski Oceanic in the QMJHL this season, posting 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) with 15 penalty minutes and a plus-5 rating. Gauthier also represented the QMJHL against Russia in the 2013 Subway Super Series. The native of Laval, Que.. Stefan Charles Jersey. ., registered 60 points (22 goals, 38 assists) with 26 penalty minutes and a plus-22 rating in 62 games last season with Rimouski. His 60 points were fourth among QMJHL rookies. Gauthier also helped Canada earn a gold medal at the 2013 Under-18 World Championship in Russia, contributing a goal and three assists in seven games. In 85 career games with Rimouski over two seasons, Gauthier has 27 goals, 54 assists and 81 points with 41 minutes in penalties and a plus-27 rating. College Park, MD (SportsNetwork. Maillot Ousmane Dembele .com) - Maryland leading scorer Dez Wells is expected to be sidelined for the next four weeks because of a broken bone in his right wrist. Wells was hurt in Marylands 72-63 upset of 13th-ranked Iowa State on Tuesday. He underwent surgery Friday morning in Baltimore. Dez has been playing at a very high level and we will certainly miss our team leader, said Maryland coach Mark Turgeon. I am extremely disappointed for Dez because I know how hard he has worked in the offseason to prepare for his senior season. Wells has averaged 16.2 points and 4.8 rebounds to help the Terrapins to a 5-0 start. Maillot Hugo Lloris France 2018 . The Yankees made the moves before Tuesdays game against Baltimore. A look at Week One of the NFL season, including Peyton Mannings seven touchdowns, rookies making a mark, veterans showing they still have something left and rising stars off to fine starts, all in 50 Points. Bo Scarbrough Jersey . 1. Broncos QB Peyton Manning (27-for-42, 462 YDS, 7 TD) got off to a spectacular start, abusing the Ravens, particularly in the second half. Baltimores defence wasnt great least season, ranking 17th in passing yardage against per game and per play. While getting CB Lardarius Webb back from injury was supposed to provide a big boost, the Ravens also had signficant defensive losses in the offseason, including FS Ed Reed, and were no match for Manning in Denver Thursday night. 2. 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick (27-for-39, 412 YDS, 3 TD) was outstanding in a win over Green Bay, and did it primarily with his arm, rushing for just 22 yards on seven carries. 3. With Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham out of the lineup, the 49ers needed receivers to step up and step up they did. WR Anquan Boldin (13 REC, 208 YDS, 1 TD, 17 targets), who cost the Niners a sixth-round draft pick to acquire him from Baltimore, and TE Vernon Davis (6 REC, 98 YDS, 2 TD, 9 targets) were the top targets for Kaepernick. 4. Patriots WR Danny Amendola (10 REC, 104 YDS) and undrafted rookie WR Kenbrell Thompkins (4 REC, 42 YDS) were both targeted by Tom Brady a game-high 14 times against Buffalo, with decidedly different results. Julian Edelman (7 REC, 79 YDS, 2 TD) had the most productive day among Patriots receivers for fantasy owners. 5. Vikings RB Adrian Peterson (111 YDS, 3 TD, 22 touches), but after a 78-yard touchdown on his first carry, Peterson was kept under wraps (aside from two more touchdowns) by the Lions, gaining 33 yards on his next 21 touches. 6. The running back that was busting loose in the Vikings-Lions game was Lions RB Reggie Bush (191 YDS, 1 TD, 25 touches), who was complemented nicely by Joique Bell (92 YDS, 2 TD, 11 touches) as Mikel Leshoure was scratched from the lineup. 7. Targets for Broncos wide receivers: Demaryius Thomas, 11; Wes Welker, 11; Eric Decker, 7. The early concern is that Decker, who scored 13 touchdowns a year ago, will be the one to lose looks now that Welker is in Denver, but its not just Welker. TE Julius Thomas (5 REC, 110 YDS, 2 TD, 7 targets) is another option to get looks from Manning. 8. Jets QB Geno Smith was maligned through the preseason, particularly after throwing three interceptions in a half against the New York Giants, but fared well (24-for-38, 256 YDS, 1 TD, 1 INT, 6 RUSH, 47 YDS) in his NFL regular-season debut. While none of the Jets receivers are top notch, Smiths competence could increase the appeal of Santonio Holmes (1 REC, 13 YDS, 3 targets), Jeremy Kerley (3 REC, 45 YDS, 4 targets) and Stephen Hill (6 REC, 39 YDS, 9 targets). 9. Jets TE Kellen Winslow (7 REC, 79 YDS, 1 TD) , who played just one game for the Patriots in 2012, made a good impression in his first game with the Jets. Hes listed second on the Jets depth chart, behind Jeff Cumberland, at tight end, but Winslow had 75 catches for 763 yards while playing for Tampa Bay in 2011. If he is capable of staying healthy enough to do that again, he could be a really valuable addition for the Jets and work his way into fantasy relevance. 10. Touches for Broncos running backs: Knowshon Moreno, 12; Montee Ball, 8; Ronnie Hillman, 6. Like Ball most long-term out of that trio, but until its settled, ugh. 11. Bills rookie QB E.J. Manuel (18-for-27, 150 YDS, 2 TD) kept to a conservative gameplan, much like the preseason, but was reasonably effective. Until the Bills open up, however, its going to be difficult for WR Steve Johnson (3 REC, 39 YDS, 1 TD, 5 targets) to achieve full value as a productive wideout. 12. For all the concerns about his passing accuracy, Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor (19-for-29, 217 YDS, 1 TD, 2 INT) didnt have real problems with that against Indianapolis and his running ability (112 YDS, 13 carries) made the Raiders at least a little bit dangerous on offence. 13. Falcons RB Steven Jackson (122 yards, 16 touches) had an efficient, productive game in his first game with Atlanta, even if he didnt end up finding the end zone. 14. Moving into the starting role vacated by Steven Jackson, Rams RB Daryl Richardson had 96 yards from scrimmage on 25 touches. 15. RB David Wilson (19 YDS, seven carries) lost a pair of fumbles and was benched in favour of DaRel Scott, who finished with 74 yards on 10 touches. Wilson was banished for fumbling early last season but, particularly with Andre Brown out due to a broken leg, the Giants dont have promising alternatives right now. 16. Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey and RB LaRod Stephens-Howling and ILB Larry Foote all suffered season-ending injuries. Pouncey tore his ACL and MCL, and figures to be replaced in the starting lineup by Kelvin Beachum, a seventh-round pick out of SMU in 2012. Stephens-Howling tore his ACL, hardly what the Steelers running game needed (more in the next point). Foote, the 33-year-old veteran, ruptured his bicep and will likely need surgery. Vince Williams, a sixth-round pick out of Florida State, is Footes probable replacement in the starting lineup. 17. Steelers RB Isaac Redman had nine yards and a lost fumble on eight carries, some of which could be attributed to the loss of Pouncey. Its easy to wonder how much worse Jonathan Dwyer -- who the Steelers cut at the end of camp -- would have been, but with Stephens-Howling out, it looks like the Steelers will be re-signing Dwyer. 18. Rams TE Jared Cook has been a popular breakout candidate for the last couple seasons and maybe the opportunity in St. Louis is going to work better than his time in Tennessee. Against Arizona, Cook had seven catches (10 targets) for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns, fumbling once near the goalline when he was caught from behind by Cardinals FS Tyrann Mathieu. 19. Ravens TE Dallas Clark (7 REC, 87 YDS, team-leading 12 targets) played a big role for Baltimore, though he had some drops. There are reports that the Ravens are going to give TE Jake Ballard, a late cut from the Patriots, a look as they try to fill the void created by Dennis Pittas preseason injury. 20. For all the talk about how the Bills would feed the ball to RB C.J. Spiller, he had 22 touches (55 YDS) compared to 17 touches for Fred Jackson (108 YDS). The Bills may be more effective with the two-headed running back approach, but if Spiller is going to be an elite fantasy producer, he needs a greater percentage of the touches. 21. Patriots RB Shane Vereen (159 YDS, 21 touches) thrived with Stevan Ridley (46 YDS, 9 carries) getting benched after losing a fumble. Vereen was a nice value play entering the season, as a complement to Ridley, and thats still his role, but Vereen could put up quality yardage even in a secondary role. 22. Falcons WR Roddy White, who was listed as questionable (due to an ankle injury) had two catches (on two targets) for 19 yards against the Saints. Harry Douglas (4 REC, 93 YDS, 6 targets) and Julio Jones (7 REC, 76 YDS, 1 TD, 9 targets) led the Atlanta wideouts. 23. Bengals WR A.J. Green (9 REC, 162 YDS, 2 TD, 13 targets) was, naturally, the preferred target for QB Andy Dalton, while tight ends Tyler Eifert (5 REC, 47 YDS, 5 targets) and Jermaine Gresham (5 REC, 35 YDS, 5 targets) were the next most-productive receivers against the Bears. 24. Giants QB Eli Manning passed for 450 yards with four touchdowns, but contributed three interceptions to the Giants six turnover effort. With Eli throwing for 450 yards, the Giants had three wide receivers -- Victor Cruz (5 REC, 118 YDS, 3 TD, 8 targets), Hakeem Nicks (5 REC, 114 YDS, 8 targets) and Rueben Randle (5 REC, 101 YDS, 6 targets) -- go for more than 100 yards. 25. While top Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (4 REC, 22 YDS, 8 targets) was mostly invisible, WR Miles Austin (10 REC, 72 YDS, 12 targets), TE Jason Witten (8 REC, 70 YDS, 2 TD, 9 targets) led the way in the Dallas passing game. 26. Browns TE Jordan Cameron (9 REC, 108 YDS, 1 TD, 13 targets) was maybe the only bright spot for Browns as QB Brandon Weeden (26-for-53, 289 YDS, 1 TD, 3 INT) didnt inspire confidence. Dolphins CB Dmitri Patterson had two of the three picks against Weeden. 27. Dolphins WR Brian Hartline (9 REC, 114 YDS, 1 TD, 15 targets) had a big day, but there were other issues in the Miami receiving corps. Free agent acquisition Mike Wallace had one catch (five targets) for 15 yards. He wasnt happy about his role, especially when third receiver Brandon Gibson had seven catches (10 targets) for 77 yards. 28. The hope for the Cardinals coming into the season was that QB Carson Palmer would rejuvenate their passing attack. After all, he threw for 4,000 in Oakland last season and the Raiders didnt have Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald (8 REC, 80 YDS, 2 TD, 14 targets) did reap immediate rewards, but so too did WR Andre Roberts (8 REC, 97 YDS, 9 targets) and WR Michael Floyd (4 REC, 82 YDS, 6 targets). 29. Steelers WR Jerricho Cotchery (4 REC, 34 YDS, 1 TD), who scored their only touchdown, was targeted seven times, the same as Antonio Brown (5 REC, 71 YDS), who is the Steelers No. 1 receiver. Emmanuel Sanders (7 REC, 57 YDS) was targeted a dozen times against Tennessee. 30. Touches for Saints running backs: Darren Sproles, 14; Pierre Thomas, 13; Mark Ingram, 9. Same as it ever was. 31. One of my preferred value plays on draft day was to get Jets RB Bilal Powell (64 YDS, 16 touches) as a third or fourth running back. Given that hes getting more touches than Chris Ivory (15 YDS, 10 carries), Powell has some value, but hes still trying to establish that he can be a viable starter for the Jets, let alone for fantasy owners. 32. Bucs WR Vincent Jackson (7 REC, 154 YDS) was targeted on 13 of QB Josh Freemans 31 pass attempts as the Bucs didnt shy away from Jets CB Antonio Cromartie, who is thought to be a strong cover corner, but had few answers for Jackson. 33. The Packers passing game focused on WR Jordy Nelson (7 REC, 130 YDS, 1 TD, 10 targets) and WR Randall Cobb (7 REC, 108 YDS, 1 TD, 12 targets). James Jones, on the other hand, had no catches and was targeted twice. 34. Packers rookie RB Eddie Lacy gained 72 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown on 15 touches, though none of the Packers runs against San Francisco were for more than seven yards. 35. Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray had 125 yards from scrimmage on 28 touches. Philip Tanner was the only other running back to get touches and he had one carry and one pass reception. 36. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson (25-for-33, 320 YDS, 1 TD) led Seattle to a road win. As great as Wilson was as a rookie in 2012, his only 300-yard passing game was in the playoff loss to Atlanta (when he threw for 385 yards). 37. With Percy Harvin sidelined, Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin -- not Sidney Rice, not Golden Tate -- led the Seattle passing attack with seven receptions (eight targets) for 91 yards. 38. Panthers QB Cam Newton (16-for-23, 125 YDS) didnt get the ball deep, completing one pass for longer than 15 yards and not connecting once with deep threat WR Brandon LaFell. 39. Taking advantage of Jonathan Stewarts absence Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (100 yards, one fumble lost, 20 touches) had a productive day, though a fourth-quarter fumble inside the Seahawks 10-yard line preserved Seattles five-point win. 40. There was lots of preseason hype for Dolphins RB Lamar Miller (3 YDS, 10 carries) and while his first game was no prize, its not like Daniel Thomas (14 YDS, 1 TD, eight carries) was effective running against the Browns defence either. Wait and see how they do against a different opponent, but Miller will obviously need to do more to solidify his hold on the position. 41. Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (7 REC, 140 YDS, 8 targets) is not yet ready to cede his starting spot to rookie Cordarrelle Patterson (1 REC, 10 YDS, 1 target). 42. With Ryan Broyles out, Nate Burleson was a productive option (6 REC, 78 YDS, 6 targets) at wide receiver for the Lions. 43. Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (16-for-35, 121 YDS, 2 INT) struggled, which didnt come as a surprise. Chad Henne (3-for-6, 36 YDS) might be a better option, considering Gabberts ineffectiveness and injuries -- he entered the game with a broken thumb and then suffered a gash that required 15 stitches in his hand. Any kind of upgrade would help Jaguars receivers Cecil Shorts and, when he returns from suspension, Justin Blackmon. 44. Ravens WR Marlon Brown (4 REC, 65 YDS, 1 TD, 6 targets) is an undrafted free agent out of Georgia who saw more playing time in the absence of Jacoby Jones, the return ace who was finally getting an opportunity to start at wide receiver before getting hurt. Jones suffered a sprained MCL, which will keep him out for the next four-to-six weeks, a good opportunity for Brown to establish himself as a reliable target for QB Joe Flacco. 45. There was plenty of preseason talk of Giovani Bernard taking the Bengals starting running back job from BenJarvus Green-Ellis, but The Law Firm had 15 touches, compared to Bernards five, in Week One. Of course BJGE gained 29 yards on his 15 touches and Bernard gained 30 on his five, so maybe the allocation is due to change. 46. Jackie Battle had eight carries, for 25 yards and a touchdown for the Titans, getting more touches than Shonn Greene as the secondary option behind Chris Johnson. 47. Prior to committing the last-minute penalty that gave the Jets the opportunity to kick the winning field goal, OLB Lavonte David was a beast for Tampa Bay, recording 8 total tackles, one sack, one interception and two passes defended. 48. The Chiefs leading receiver in their win over Jacksonville was FB Anthony Sherman (4 REC, 44 YDS), a third-year pro out of Connecticut who had 13 catches for 111 yards in 28 career games entering the game. 49. Playing in place of injured TE Marcedes Lewis, Allen Reisner had three catches for 31 yards. In 10 previous games with the Minnesota Vikings, Reisner, undrafted out of Iowa, had two catches for 18 yards. 50. An undrafted free agent who spent last season on the practice squad, SS Duke Ihenacho led Broncos with a dozen total tackles and three passes defended in the win over Baltimore. Patriots OLB Jerod Mayo led the Patriots-Bills game with 15 total tackles and Colts SS LaRon Landry had 15 total tackles against the Raiders. Broncos OLB Shaun Phillips, desperately needed to rush the passer with Von Miller out, recorded 2.5 sacks against the Ravens. Chiefs OLB Justin Houston had three of Kansas Citys six sacks against the Jaguars. Rams DE Robert Quinn had three sacks against Arizona. Dolphins DE Cameron Wake had 2.5 sacks as part of a dominant showing against Cleveland. Bears CB Charles Tillman, who had his hands full with Bengals star WR A.J. Green, did register seven total tackles and a pair of interceptions. Scott Cullen can be reached at Scott.Cullen@bellmedia.ca and followed on Twitter at http://twitter.com/tsnscottcullen. BARCELONA, Spain -- Odion Ighalo scored two goals to guide Granada to a 2-0 win at second-division Alcorcon on Sunday, giving the topflight side a commanding lead in its Copa del Rey tie. Dan Majerle Jersey . Also in the round of 32, seven-time winner Valencia was held to a 0-0 draw at third-division Nastic Tarragona, while Espanyol needed a late goal from Christian Stuani to secure a 2-2 draw at second-division Real Jaen. Almeria did take care of business and struck three times in 11 first-half minutes to earn a 3-1 victory at second-tier Las Palmas. Ighalo headed in Fran Ricos free kick to open the scoring for Granada on the half-hour mark, and the Nigerian striker added a second goal in the 81st minute after expertly wrong-footing his marker on the break. Alcorcon striker Francisco Peral wasted the hosts best chance in the 71st when he sent the ball off the crossbar from the edge of the six-yard box. Other than those few scoring opportunities, the match was a scrappy, defensive struggle at the Santo Domingo Stadium where in 2009 the unknown Alcorcon humiliated Real Madrid 4-0 in the cup competition while in the third division. "It wasnt easy to win 2-0 here because Alcorcon is a team with a lot of tradition," Granada coach Lucas Alcaraz said. "It was a much more complicated game than just any other league match because we play at another pace in the first division and Alcorcon is always a very difficult rival." Valencia was fortunate not to head back to Mestalla with a loss after being outplayed by Nastic, whose pair of Ivory Coast forwards Junior Wakalible and Jean Luc Gbayara ran amok in the visitors defence. Valencia will miss Brazilian striker Jonas for the return leg against Nastic after he was dismissed with a second booking in the 87th. Espanyol appeared to be in control after midfielder David Lopez scored a rebound in first-half injury time, but Jaen rallied to take the lead after Sidnei scored an own goal in the 65th and Jozabed Sanchez netted five minutes later. The match swung back to finally favour Espanyol when Stuani headed in a corner kick with two minutes to play to give his team the away-goal advantage entering the return leg. Almeria striker Oscar Diaz scored two goals to fuel its big win in the Canary Islands. Diaz controlled a cross by Raul Garcia behind Las Palmas passive defence to open in the 16th. Almerias Aleix Vidal pounced on a poor back pass by Las Palmas to make it 2-0 in the 22nd, and four minutes later Diaz converted a penalty kick when Ramon Azeez was fouled in the area. Almerias Christian Fernandez was sent off with a second yellow card in the 61st. Nauzet Aleman pulled one back for Las Palmas in the 74th with a free kick before seeing a direct red card in the 81st for kicking an opponent, meaning he too will miss the second leg. Later, Malaga hosts Osasuna in the days only matchup of first-division sides. The return legs will be in two weeks time. Steve Nash Jersey . NAPLES, Fla. -- Matt Kuchar and Harris English ran away with the Franklin Templeton Shootout, shooting a 14-under 58 on Sunday in the final-round scramble to break the tournament course record. Kuchar and English finished at 34-under 182, playing their last 28 holes at Tiburon in 25 under. They opened with a 64 on Friday in modified alternate-shot play and had a 60 on Saturday in better ball. The duo beat Retief Goosen and Fredrik Jacobsen by seven strokes, matching the tournament record for margin of victory set by Curtis Strange and Mark OMeara in 1989 in the inaugural event. "It was a fun week," Kuchar said. "This is one of my favourite events of the year. I wish we could more team events. I realize during the year, thats difficult but to mix up the forrmats and have a partner here is just a lot of fun. Elfrid Payton Jersey. . Its nice to perform well." Kuchar and English, who replaced the injured Brandt Snedeker in the field, each earned $385,000. "Its such a relaxing event," Harris said. "Its really cool being part of this event." Goosen and Jacobsen closed with a 61, but had little chance to catch the winners. "It was unbelievable, quite an exhibition," Jacobson said. "Both guys were putting well and theyre solid ball-strikers, so we knew we had to pick up the pace. But they played so well, theres not much you can do about it." Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter had a 59 to finish third at 26, and Chris DiMarco and Billy Horschel were fourth at 24 under after a 60. BAYAMON, Puerto Rico -- Danny Garcia successfully defended his two 140-pound titles Saturday night in a 12-round slugfest with Mauricio Herrera. Charles Barkley Jersey . Garcias improved to 28-0 in the fifth defence of his WBC light welterweight crown and fourth of his WBA belt. He received winning scores of 116-112 from two judges and the third had the fighters even at 114. Garcias right eye was swollen after the early rounds and his nose bloodied by a big shot from Herrera (20-4) in the ninth. Fighting his way off the ropes, the champion rallied with some solid shots to end the round. "I just needed to keep my composure and throw power shots," Garcia said. It wasnt an easy fight for Garcia, a Philadelphia native with deep Puerto Rican roots who was driven on by a raucous crowd of more than 10,100 in his mothers hometown. "Of course it was an advantage," Garcia said. The 33-year-old Herrera threw and landed slightly more punches than the 25-year-old champion, but Garcia finished with a wide edge in power punches. Both fighters remained active in a bout that picked up pace and quality in the later rounds. Herrera couldnt match Garcias power, but his toughness and guile was evident. "I felt I won the fight. I thought it was close, but I thought I won," Herrera said. "Hes a crafty veteran," Garcia said. "I just had to make adjustments." The title defence was seen as a stepping stone to bigger paydays and is sure to spur talk about a potential showdown with pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Garcia said after the fight he may consider moving up to 147 pounds, saying coming in heavy for Saturdays fight may have hurt his performance. Still, hes happy to leave his parents homeland with his belts in tow. "Everybody comes after me. They want what I got," he said. Wieters had asked for $8.75 million and the Orioles had offered $6.The NFL Combine is a perfect time to impress scouts with impressive workout numbers, and two potential Top 5 picks have done just that over the weekend in Indianapolis. While the spotlight has been on potential first overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney and his 40-yard time, and top quarterback prospect Blake Bortles during the throwing drills, top prospects Greg Robinson and Sammy Watkins have impressed scouts enough to solidify or even boost their spots on draft boards. Robinson, a 65 and 320 pound offensive tackle from Auburn, ran a blistering (relatively speaking) 4.84 40-yard dash. To listen to the chatter in Indy this weekend tell it, Robinsons stock is soaring to the point where he may have overtaken Texas A&Ms Jake Matthews as the top OT in the draft. Watkins meanwhile, ran a very impressive 40-yard dash himself, clocking in at 4.34 and 4.37. The 61, 205 pound receiver from Clemson has separated himself from Marqise Lee and others as the clear-cut top pass catcher in this years draft. Respected draftnik Mike Mayock of NFL Network has gone so far to say Watkins he thinks Watkins is a franchise receiver. The junior could go as high as second overall to the St. Louis Rams. Other players who helped their cause over the weekend include Texas A&M receiver Mike Evans and Fresno State Derek Carr. Chris Paul Youth Jersey. Evans has been somewhat of a forgotten man sitting behind Watkins and Lee on draft boards at the receiver position. But after putting up some strong numbers to go along with his freakish wingspan, could see the redshirt sophomore finish the weekend on Lees tail for second receiver to be taken. After a poor showing in the Las Vegas Bowl dropped Carr out of the first-round in many draftniks minds and mock drafts, Carr has done some tremendous damage control in the off-season. Starting with the Senior Bowl and continuing this weekend at the Combine, Carrs performances have boosted his stock back into the first round and perhaps as high as the Top 10. The Minnesota Vikings, picking eighth overall and in need of a quarterback, could take a long look at the senior if the top three – Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel, and Bortles – are off the board. And speaking of Manziel, the exciting quarterback spent most of the weekend trying to prove to teams hes more Johnny Manziel than Johnny Football, but in the tests he went through, he impressed for the most part. Manziels 40-yard time of 4.68 was strong and while he measured in a little short for most teams liking – a shade under 60 – his hand size was certainly NFL caliber. RENTON, Wash. Mason Rudolph Steelers Jersey . -- Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday after an injury-filled career that included issues with concussions. The Seahawks announced Rices decision two days before the start of training camp. The news was first reported by Pro Football Talk. Rice played seven seasons and is retiring at age 27. "I have enjoyed my experiences with all of my coaches, teammates and passionate Seahawks fans. I take great pride in knowing I was one of the players signed to help build the foundation of the team that ultimately won the Super Bowl," Rice said in a statement from the team. "Ill be joining the 12s in support of the Seattle Seahawks as they take on the challenge to repeat." Rice missed half of last season with the Seahawks after tearing his ACL against St. Louis. Rice re-signed with Seattle in the off-season on a $1 million, one-year deal. But he was going to be pushed to make the Seahawks final roster with the additions of draft picks Paul Richardson and Kevin Norwood and a healthy Percy Harvin. "The entire organization would like to thank Sidney for his leadership over the past three seasons," Seattle general manager John Schneider said. "His time as a Seahawks player displayed the core values that Pete and I aimed to bring to the program." Rice signed with Seattle as a free agent before the 2011 season. He played in 33 regular-season games with the Seahawks, his best season coming in 2012 when he had 50 receptions and seven touchdowns and played all 16 games. Rices best season came in 2009 when he was selected to the Pro Bowl after catching 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns. He added another 10 catches and four touchdowns in the playoffs that season. But injuries were always part of the story with Rice. His breakout season with Minnesota in 2009 was followed by hip surgery that limited him to six games in 2010, his final season with the Vikings. His first season with Seattle was shortened by a pair of concussions that eventually landed Rice on injured reserve. Rice started six of Seattles first eight games last season before injuring his knee against the Rams. Rice was a second-round pick of the Vikings in 2007. Hell finish his career with 243 catches and 30 touchdowns. Wide receiver is one position where the Seahawks could afford to absorb a loss. Golden Tate left for Detroit in free agency in the off-season, but Seattle was not counting on Rice to be a starter with Harvin, Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse and Ricardo Lockette all returning off the Super Bowl roster. Rice recently invested in Wingstop franchises in the Puget Sound region and said he intends on establishing himself as a businessman. Joe Haden Jersey . Josh Gasser added 15 points and Traevon Jackson contributed 13 for the Badgers (15-1, 3-0 Big Ten), whose win streak reached a season-high eight games. The win was Bo Ryans 159th in conference play since arriving at Wisconsin, setting a new program record. Jon Octeus poured in 15 points to go with eight rebounds for the Boilermakers (10-6, 2-1), who have dropped four of their last six. A.J. Hammons picked up 11 points in a losing cause. The games fifth and final tie occurred with 6:49 left in regulation as Hammons connected on a jumper to pull Purdue even at 45-45. From there, Wisconsin reeled off a 9-2 run to take control for good. Kaminsky scored four in a row to start the surge and Gasser split two from the line to end it with 3:17 remaining and the Badgers held a comfortable 54-47 cushion. Four times the Boilermakers pulled within five points over the remainder of the contest, but the Badgers answered each time. Kaminskys 20th and 21st points on tthe night came from the free-throw line with 15 seconds left, just after Octeus got the visitors to 60-55. James Washington Jersey. Earlier on, Octeus and Hammons both hit jumpers and Purdue was ahead 12-7 at the six-minute mark. Dakota Mathias then hit a trey and the Boilermakers edge was 19-14, but Kaminskys layup inside of four minutes left in the first half gave the hosts a one-point edge. Nigel Hayes hit two free throws and the Badgers entered intermission up 28-27. Jacksons three-point play was the last of six in a row to begin the second half from the Badgers, then a Kendall Stephens try forged a 35-35 deadlock. Gassers bucket again was the final of six straight by the hosts who led 41-35 with 12:52 to go. Though holding onto a slim margin, Wisconsin didnt give up the lead until Hammons shot. Jill Ellis has been named the U. Meghan Klingenberg Jersey .S. national team coach in the run-up to the womens World Cup next summer in Canada and beyond. Ellis has been the interim coach since Tom Sermanni was surprisingly dismissed in early April after an exhibition victory against China. It was Ellis second stint as an interim coach with the team; she also took over when previous head coach Pia Sundhage resigned in 2012 to become head coach of Swedens national team. Ellis has a 6-0-3 record overall as the teams interim coach. Ellis was an assistant to both Sermanni and Sundhage. She was on the staff of the gold medal-winning U.S. teams at the Beijing and London Olympics. The 47-year-old coach, who is well respected among national team players, has had a lengthy coaching career, including 12 seasons at UCLA. "Not beating around the bush, I know the expectation, embrace the expectation," Ellis said Friday. "I know that we want to win, and I think this group is capable of winning. Thats what we want, it is always the expectation. People ask me if thats intimidating and I say no, because when you work for U.S. soccer its about winning gold medals and standing on the first-place podium." The U.S. womens team, which has been ranked No. 1 for the past six years, next plays a pair of exhibition matches against France in Tampa, Florida, and East Hartford, Connecticut, in mid-June. The United States will host the eight-team CONCACAF qualifying tournament in October for the 2015 World Cup, according to an announcement Friday. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in Mexico but there were "issues" concerning the venues, U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati said. The venues and schedule for the tournament have yet to be determined. Despite the teams success on the international stage in recent years, the U.S. women havent won a World Cup title since 1999. Japan won the 2011 World Cup in Germany, defeating the United States on a penalty shoot-out following a 2-2 draw after extra time. "The job description is to win next summer," Gulati said during a conference call Friday announcing Ellis appointment. Beyond that, the U.S. team will also look to defend back-to-back-to-back Olympic titles in Brazil the following year. Sermanni helped the U.S. to a 13-0-3 record last year, but the Americans went 1-2-1 at the Algarve Cup in March, the last major tournament for the U.S. before qualifying this fall. The seventh-place Algarve Cup finish included a 1-0 loss to Sweden and Sundhage, ending a two-year, 43-game unbeaten streak. That was the first loss following a 16-0-4 start under Sermanni. Ellis led the team to a 3-0 exhibition win in the second match against China after Sermanni was dismissed. "Were comfortable with Jill, we love Jill, we have a lot of respect for Jill, and she didnt really miss a beat. She put the pen on the board and she just started coaching," U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo said following the match. "Im always honoured to be coached by Jill. Every time she has something to say, I always perk up and listen." Ellis will step down from her position as U.S. Soccer womens development director now that she is the head coach, the organization said. "We think Jills got all the right credentials, both in terms of experience, and how she relates to the players -- weve been able to see that firsthand in the two times shed been with the senior team and previously with our youth teams," Gulati said. "She gets top marks in all the work shes been doing on the technical side with all of our programs in the last several years. Its all of those things." Carli Lloyd Jersey . Post time is 5:38 pm. Abby Smith Jersey . Top-seeded Djokovic, who is making only his second appearance this year after reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over 54th-ranked Istomin of Uzbekistan. "It wasnt as easy as the scoreline indicates," said Djokovic, who has won in Dubai on four occasions. http://www.uswntproshop.com/c-7-kelley-ohara-usa-jersey.aspx . - Maxence Parrot of Bromont, Que.PLA DADET, France -- On the last of four Pyrenees ascents, Rafal Majka winked at a French TV camera and tugged playfully at a motorcycles antenna. Even this late in the Tour de France, the Polish rider made winning look easy as he took Stage 17 on Wednesday. For Vincenzo Nibali, the second ride in the mountains on Frances border with Spain was more serious. "The Shark" nibbled yet more seconds away from several of his closest challengers, and the yellow jersey that he has worn for all but two days of the race seemed to fit just a little more tightly ahead of the finish Sunday in Paris. Nibali was even businesslike with his own prime minister, imploring him not to get too ahead of himself in celebration. "Its true that I received a text message from Matteo Renzi, who invited me to Chigi Palace to celebrate my victory," the cautious Sicilian said about the premiers official residence. "I replied that only after winning -- if I do so -- Ill be able to say that Ill be present." The 124.5-kilometre (77-mile) trek Wednesday was the shortest stage in this years Tour. It covered three hard Category 1 ascents from Saint-Gaudens and a final push up to Pla dAdet ski station above the town of Saint-Lary-Soulan. Majka, who also won Stage 14 in the Alps, again showed hes the best climber in this Tour and tightened his grip on the polka dot jersey awarded to the races King of the Mountains. Giovanni Visconti got the action going on the last climb with a solo breakaway with about nine kilometres (5 1/2 miles) left, but could not hold off Majka. Visconti, who also is Sicilian, was second, 29 seconds back, and Nibali was third, 46 seconds behind. With a last Pyrenean day ahead Thursday, Majka could ensure that he takes the red-dot jersey home. His closest rival for it when the stage started was Spains Joaquim Rodriguez, who swatted the air in frustration at Majka when the Pole broke away on the last climb. Majka said he felt "comfort" in the last five kilometres in part because hed been saving up energy a day earlier by riding easier. He finished in a bunch 24 1/2 minutes behind Australian teammate Michael Rogers, who won Stage 16. By Wednesday, "I felt really, really good in the last climb," Majka said, after tapping his chest, thrusting his arms skyward and shouting in joy at the victory. "For me, when there are a lot of climbs, its the best." There was a time when seemingly effortless victories smacked of something more sinister at the Tour: the use of performance-enhancers. Few know the scars of cyclings doping past more than Majkas own manager at the Tinkoff-Saxo Bank team, Bjarne Riis. Once a national hero in Denmarkk after winning the 1996 Tour, he admitted to using blood-booster EPO more than a decade later -- and was vilified for it. Allie Long Jersey. He laid low for a while, but then returned to the pro cycling world. "I promised Bjarne today that I would win the stage," said Majka. The echoes of doping resonated Wednesday on the grassy Pyrenean mountainside: The last times that Saint-Lary-Soulan hosted Tour stage finishes were in 2001 and 2005 -- won by Lance Armstrong and teammate George Hincapie. Those wins were later stripped because of doping. Their names have been crossed out in the official Tour history book. Cycling has made great strides in fighting doping with enhanced blood and urine testing, along with the biological passport program, but few experts would claim that the peloton today is entirely clean. Nibali, who has called himself a "flag-bearer of anti-doping", made his latest case to become the first Italian to win cyclings showcase race in 16 years -- since Marco Pantani, who was once convicted for doping. Nibali gained just under a minute on four of his closest rivals. Second-placed Alejandro Valverde of Spain, who made a valiant recovery on the last ascent to avoid even more damage, now trails by 5 minute, 26 seconds. The exception was Jean-Christophe Peraud of France, who hugged closely on the leaders back wheel and finished fourth. With his performance, the 37-year-old Frenchman made it an even closer race for the podium spots. He is fourth overall, 6:08 behind Nibali, but just eight seconds slower than fellow Frenchman Thibaut Pinot, in third. American Tejay van Garderen, in sixth, also lost about a minute to Nibali and trails by 10:19. It came a day after his hopes for a podium spot were dealt a big blow when he lost several minutes to the other aspirants for a top-three finish in Paris. "Yesterday was a pity, it was an off day," the BMC leader said. A podium spot is still possible, he added, "but it will be hard." Stage 18s finale in the Pyrenees takes the pack on a 145.5-kilometre (90-mile) loop from Pau to Hautacam, featuring two ascents that are so hard that they defy cyclings ranking system -- one of them an uphill finish. Then its a flat stage heading northward Friday before an individual time-trial a day later, and then whats likely to be the largely ceremonial ride for the yellow jersey in Stage 21 on Sunday to the Champs-Elysees in Paris for the finish of the races 101st edition. While well-positioned to be in yellow then, Nibali was still attacking Wednesday. "I preferred to go and gain a few more seconds and to be even more serene, just in case something could happen," he said. Sami Vatanen had a goal and an assist and Anaheim used a four-goal first period to extend their winning streak to six games with a 5-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Liverpool Jersey . "I love the game, its the best job you can have," he explained Tuesday as the players left Joe Louis Arena for the summer. "Ill sit down with my wife and well go from there. http://www.liverpoolgear.us/Authentic-Andrew-Robertson-Liverpool-Jersey/ . Brad Malone had the other goal for the Monsters (1-1-0), while Elliott chipped in an assist for a three-point night and the games first star. Bryan Lerg also had two assists. Corban Knight and Max Reinhart scored for the Heat (1-1-0), who opened their season Friday with a 5-2 win over the Monsters in Cleveland.Late last summer, London bookmakers were offering 2-to-1 odds Manchester United would retain the BPL title and meagre 1-to-14 odds they would finish in amongst the Champions League spots. Not sure any bookies were offering odds that, deep into the business end of the season, Liverpool would be placing job ads related to a victory parade the club are planning to possibly stage the day after the season ends. For those who recollect the quite extraordinary city scenes the day after Liverpool had beaten AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League Final when a reported 750,000 people lined the route as an open top bus carrying the European champions made its way from John Lennon Airport to City Hall, these arent the type of events you leave to chance. Even the Queen got in on the act then, as she sent the club her congratulations from Edmonton on the last day of her Canadian tour. A bus of an entirely different nature may have derailed Liverpools title bid after their club record equalling 11-game winning streak grinded to a rather abrupt halt last Sunday, but there can be no denying Liverpools rightful place at the head table - that Champions League virtuous circle more commonly referred to as the "top four." Having finished last season in a very distant seventh place, the turnaround at Liverpool has been nothing short of remarkable and especially when you consider the spending power and superior squad strengths of their title rivals. With Champions League football assured for next season, the target Brendan Rodgers set out with last August, making it all that more special their place back amongst the elite of English football, has come at the expense of their bitter rivals Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson may have preached patience for the incoming manager to the 75,000 in attendance at Old Trafford at his final home game last May, but how about the patience of the Anfield faithful who have waited almost a quarter of a century since their last championship triumph? Although the Chelsea reversal last week handed the initiative to Manchester City, that disappointment pales into insignificance when recalling how the 1989 title was decided. Arsenal not only had to go to Anfield on the last day of the 1989 season and win, but they had to do so by a two-goal advantage. With 90 minutes on the clock and Arsenal leading 1-0 the title was Liverpools. Mohamed Salah Liverpool Jersey. Then, with time running out in added time, up popped Arsenals Michael Thomas to score the decisive goal. Seconds later came the final whistle, as Liverpool players lay completely distraught on the hallowed Anfield turf. Arsenal celebrated, the Kop, for once, in stunned silence. How cruel the beautiful game can be. No victory parades will be staged for the clubs who escape the dreaded drop going into the penultimate weekend of the season, with even FA Cup finalists Hull all the way up in 13th place not safe yet. Following a run of five-straight defeats that firmly rooted Sunderland to the foot of the table in mid-April, it led to questions been asked if Gus Poyet, who had only replaced Paolo Di Canio in October, would resign before seasons end. But my how the club have responded, most famously taking Jose Mourinhos unbeaten BPL home record, earlier this year. On Friday, 21-year old striker Connor Wickham was named BPL player of the month for April, his five goals playing a huge part as the club moved out of the bottom three for the first time since February. With a game in hand against the teams below them, Sunderland control their own destiny. Norwich, Fulham and Cardiff will need help from others this weekend. With the possibility that top place could change hands three times between tomorrow and Monday afternoon when Liverpool play, the real prospect exists come the final game of the season next Sunday that three clubs will still be in contention for the title. This would be the first time this has occurred in the BPL-era and, in doing so, will plunge the league into a silverware crisis. As there are only two BPL trophies in existence and, as traditionally the trophy is handed out on the last day of the season, a trophy will be needed next Sunday at Anfield, the Etihad and in Cardiff where Chelsea plays. So come the final whistle between Crystal Palace and Liverpool at Selhurst Park on Monday afternoon, the Premier League may have to put a call and a delicate request into Old Trafford, where, sitting resplendent in their trophy room, a replica BPL trophy exists. Huntington, WV (SportsNetwork. Karl Malone Jazz Jersey .com) - With just one game remaining in the regular season, the 19th-ranked Marshall Thundering Herd will try to stay unbeaten as they host the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in a Conference USA bout at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. Western Kentucky sits on a 6-5 overall record, and although the Hilltoppers arent going to the Conference USA championship game in their first year as a member of the league, they are bowl eligible. Theyve won three games in a row, including a decisive 45-7 victory over UTSA last weekend. Marshall is one of two unbeaten teams in the nation (Florida State being the other), and already owns a spot in the C-USA championship game with an unblemished league mark. The Herd almost let it all slip away with a narrow 23-18 victory over UAB last weekend. Marshall leads the all-time series with Western Kentucky, 4-1. The last time these new conference rivals met, however, was back in 1996, when the Thundering Herd won, 37-3. Marshall owns a 3-0 advantage in Huntington. Western Kentucky has built a solid foundation this season around its offense, led by quarterback Brandon Doughty. The Hilltoppers enter this game against Marshall averaging 41.9 ppg, which means this could be the most offense Marshall faces all season long. In 11 games, Doughty has thrown for 3,853 yards (ranked second in the FBS - 20 yards behind the injured Connor Halliday of Washington State) with 36 touchdown passes, which is the most in the FBS nation. Last season for the Hilltoppers, the run game was essential. This year its more of a complementary aspect with Leon Allen, who has rushed 1,253 yards and 11 touchdowns. Allen averages a respectable 113.9 rushing ypg, and has carried the ball 226 times this season. Doughty has done an excellent job spreading the ball around to various receivers. Jared Dangerfield leads the team with 56 receptions and 621 yards, adding in a team-high eight touchdown grabs. Willie McNeal (seven touchdowns), Taywan Taylor (six touchdowns) and Antwane Grant (five touchdowns) are all receiving threats for WKU. Offense has been plentiful for the Hilltoppers, but the downfall for the team has been on the defensive side. Western Kentucky allows 36.8 ppg and 483.1 offensive ypg to opponents this season through 11 contests, which has allowed teams like UAB (42 points), Florida Atlantic (45 points) and Louisiana Tech (59 points) to pick up crucial wins against the Hilltoppers. WKU has been especially bad against the run, allowing 224.1 rushing ypg to opponents. Nick Holt has been a threat defensively, racking up 93 tackles with seven tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries. Dejon Brown is the next closest Hilltopper to Holt with 65 tackles on the year, and GeMonee Brown has a team-best eight tackles for loss. The Hilltoppers will need to force some Marshall turnovers in order to stay competitive in this one. Marshalls 23-point outing against UAB was by far the lowest total for the Herd this season, but a win is a win in coach Doc Hollidays eyes. Now the team must pick up its final one in the regular season against the high-scoring Hilltoppers this weekend at home. (Coach) Jeff Brohm has done a tremendous job - theyre bowl eligible for the first year in Conference USA, Holliday said. I think that is a tribute to him and what hes done. Their quarterback, Brandon Doughty, is a tremendous player whos thrown for a ton of yardage. ... Offensively, they score a lot of points, and defensively they are well-coached. They are going to come in here ready to play, and we have to make sure we are too. The Herd are led offensively by Rakeem Cato under center. Cato hasnt necessarily had the campaign many had expected from him, but with 28 touchdown passes, 2,897 yards and a 157.7 passer efficiency rating, he is one of the best leaders and field generals in all of college football. In the run game, a pleasant surprise has been the emergence of Devon Johnson. The tight end convert has carried the ball 184 times this season, and has gained an eye-popping 1,573 yards with 16 touchdowns. And he missed a game with a leg injury. He leads the team with 157.3 rushing ypg, and has helped the Herd score 44.9 ppg this season. Cato has a reliable set of weapons through the air, led by veteran pass catcher Tommy Shuler. Shuler has caught a team-best 57 passes this season for 737 yards and seven touchdowns, while talented freshman Angelo Jean-Louis has racked up 456 yards with five touchdowns in 11 games played. Tight End Eric Frohnapfel is second on the team with 30 receptions, adding 375 yards and a trio of scores to his resume. While Marshalls offense is crushing foes, the teams defense has been doing the same. The Herd are allowing just 16.5 ppg to opponents, including just 324.4 offensive ypg. Only twice this season has a challenger managed to accumulate more than 20 points against the Herd defense, with UABs 18 points being the third-highest total for an opponent this year. Linebacker Neville Hewitt leads Marshalls defense with 91 tackles, and also has registered 10 tackles for loss with 4.5 sacks. The ability to get after opposing quarterbacks and running backs in the backfield has been apparent throughout the season for the Thundering Herd, who have three defensive players that all own tackles for loss totals in the double digits. In the secondary, players like Taj Letman (three interceptions), Darryl Roberts and Corey Tindal will need to be wide awake when going up against one of the nations leading passers. I spoke to Jimbo [Fisher, head coach at Florida State] the other day, and for them to win that many games is tremendous, Holliday said. If winning was easy, there would be a lot more people in this position than us and Florida State. At some point, you have to grind them out. Florida State has had to grind a bunch out, we had to grind one out Saturday and thats a tribute to all of these guys. At the end of the day, its about winning and losing, and in the last two years these guys have won 21 of them. Rudy Gobert Jersey . Burkes Flames are one of several teams involved in heavy trade speculation going into next Wednesdays 3pm et deadline, with the most prominent name in play being forward Michael Cammalleri. John Stockton Jersey . Fifth-seeded Cilic gained his fourth title in Zagreb and became the third Croat overall to win at least 10 career titles. Jeter doubled high off the left-field wall and scored on Jacoby Ellsburys first hit in pinstripes in the fifth. Hiroki Kuroda (1-1) pitched 6 1-3 sharp innings in the Yankees 112th opener in New York. In what manager Joe Girardi said would be a season-long lovefest for Jeter, the shortstop was cheered every step of the way by an adoring crowd of 48, 142 -- even when his double-play grounder back to Orioles starter Ubaldo Jimenez (0-2) scored Solarte in the third inning for the first run.BOSTON -- Will Middlebrooks reaction running down the first-base line might have summed up how his teammates were feeling when the Boston Red Sox finally got back to .500. The slumping Middlebrooks pumped his fist a few times after hitting an RBI single with the bases loaded, capping a two-run rally in the eighth inning that sent the Red Sox over the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 Wednesday night for a sweep of the two-game interleague series. "I just wanted to help the team win and to contribute," Middlebrooks said. Mired in a 2-for-19 stretch and coming off an 0-for-5 night with a pair of strikeouts, Middlebrooks sent a hard grounder up the middle for the go-ahead run. "Ive been frustrated, but regardless if youre 10-for-10 or 0-for-10 or whatever, youre happy to contribute to a win in any way possible," he said. David Ortiz and Mike Napoli also drove in runs for the World Series champions, who reached .500 for the first time since the fourth game of the season. They failed in eight previous chances. "I dont think it was a mental hurdle," Boston manager John Farrell said. "I never heard too many of us mention that were bumping up against .500 and taking a step back. It was just more of a situation inside games where we had opportunities that we havent cashed in on, finally we do tonight." Skip Schumaker hit a two-run homer for Cincinnati, who lost the opener to Boston 4-3 in 12 innings. It was the Reds 11th one-run loss, most in the majors. "We play a lot of low scoring, one-run games," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "Were battling and well be whole soon, but until then weve got to find a way to create some distance between ourselves and our opponent. Itll come down to making every single play over the course of those last three innings to win the game, and it cant be like that every single day of a baseball season." Trailing 3-2 in the eighth, the Red Sox scored against two relievers. "Its tough," Reds left fielder Chris Heisey said. "We felt like we had the game and let it slip away." Napoli drew a one-out walk from Manny Parra, J.J. Hoover (1-4) walked pinch-hitter Jonny Gomes and A.J. Pierzynskis ground-rule double tied it at 3. Jackie Bradley Jr. was intentionally walked before Middlebrooks had his tiebreaking hit. Craig&nnbsp;Breslow (2-0), who also got the win in Tuesdays game, pitched one hitless inning. Adrian Dantley Jazz Jersey. Koji Uehara struck out the final three batters for his eighth save. Cincinnati starter Mike Leake pitched seven strong innings and was in line for the win before Boston rallied. He gave up two runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out four. Bostons Jake Peavy allowed three or fewer runs for the sixth time in seven starts, giving up three runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts. The Reds took a 3-2 lead in the seventh when Roger Bernadina bounced a slow groundout to second against reliever Chris Capuano with the bases loaded. In the bottom half, Heisey made a nice inning-ending running catch on Shane Victorinos liner into the gap with the tying run on second. Boston tied it with a pair of runs in the sixth on a run-scoring single by Ortiz and RBI double by Napoli. It could have been worse for Leake, but Grady Sizemore bounced to second with runners on second and third and, after an intentional walk, Bradley Jr. hit an inning-ending grounder. Schumaker, who came off the 15-day disabled list on Saturday after being sidelined since spring training with a dislocated left shoulder, homered in the third after Heisey had a leadoff double. The teams bounced into a combined five double plays, with the Red Sox turning three. NOTES: Farrell didnt start SS Xander Bogaerts to "get another left-handed bat in the lineup." Switch-hitter Jonathan Herrera took his spot and batted ninth. Bogaerts came in as a defensive replacement in the ninth. ... Leake had given up eight hits and four runs over seven innings in each of his last two starts. ... Reds RHP Alfredo Simon turned 33 Wednesday. ... The Reds are off until Friday, when they open a six-game homestand against Colorado with RHP Johnny Cueto (3-2, 1.31 ERA) going against RHP Jhoulys Chacin (0-1, 7.20). After Peavy, Chacin is the second of four straight starting pitchers the Reds are scheduled to face with the first letter of their first name starting with the letter "J." The Rockies will are also slated pitch RHP Jordan Lyles and Juan Nicasio. ... Boston is also off Thursday before opening a six-game road trip in Texas when RHP Clay Buchholz (2-2, 5.63) faces Yu Darvish (2-1, 2.87). VOULIAGMENI, Greece -- Greece striker Kostas Mitroglou kept his place in the countrys World Cup squad on Monday despite three forwards being dropped from the preliminary lineup. Jason Pierre-Paul Buccaneers Jersey . Greece coach Fernando Santos announced the final 23-man squad and said he believes the 26-year-old Mitroglou will be ready for Brazil despite his lack of game time since moving to England at the start of the year to join now-relegated Premier League side Fulham. "I wasnt 100 per cent about some of the call-ups until a few weeks ago. Mitroglou was one of those cases," Santos said. "We watched the last 30 minutes of his game, and we paid a lot of attention -- and we judged him to be ready ... were looking at playing ability and physical condition: People who are safe choices." Mitroglou joined teammates later Monday at the national teams opening training session at seaside facility near Athens. At the World Cup, Greece will face Colombia, Japan and Ivory Coast in Group C. Despite Greeces fast opponents, the Portuguese coach opted for more experienced players, including 2004 European Championship winners Costas Katsouranis and captain Giorgos Karagounis. Three strikers were dropped from preliminary lineup: Dimitris Papadopoulos of Atromitos, Stefanos Athanasiadis of PAOK and Nikolaos Karelis of Panathinaikos. Defenders Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Dimitris Siovas also failed to make the squad due to persistent injury troubles. "I was sorry not to include players that helped us in qualification, like (midfielder) Sotiris Ninis and Siovas," Santos said. "But the national team is above players and above the coach. We must use the safest choices." Santos said he had identified "strengths and weaknesses" in all three group opponents, but did not elaborate. Greece will play friendlies against Portugal, Nigeria and Bolivia before travelling to Brazil. ------ Squad: Goalkeepers: Orestis Karnezis (Granada), Panagiotis Glykos (PAOK), Stefanos Kapino (Panathinaikos) Defenders: Vassilis Torosidis (Roma), Loukas Vyntra (Levante), Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Borussia Dortmund), Costas Manolas (Olympiakos), Vangelis Moras (Hellas Verona), Jose Holebas (Olympiakos), Giorgos Tzavellas (PAOK), Yiannis Maniatis (Olympiakos) Midfielders: Alexandros Tziolis (Kayserispor), Costas Katsouranis (PAOK), Giorgos Karagounis (Fulham), Andreas Samaris (Olympiakos), Panagiotis Tachtsidis (Torino), Panagiotis Kone (Bologna), Yiannis Fetfatzidis (Genoa), Lazaros Christodoulopoulos (Bologna) Forwards: Georgios Samaras (Celtic), Kostas Mitroglou (Fulham), Fanis Gekas (Konyaspor), Dimitris Salpingidis (PAOK) M.J. Stewart Buccaneers Jersey . This is an exercise I have undertaken a few times, starting in 2009, and hope that Ive refined my approach a little bit in that time to help paint a better picture. Ronald Jones II Buccaneers Jersey . "Canada," Bolland said with a smile. "Is that a question?" One day earlier, though, fellow Toronto Maple Leafs centre Nazem Kadri wasnt so sure his home and native land could pull off the win against the United States in the semi-finals of the Olympic hockey tournament. http://www.thebuccaneersfansclub.com/Black-Friday-Jordan-Whitehead-Jersey/ . He insists hes not counting. "If youre thinking hits, youre not paying attention to wins," Altuve said Sunday after leading the Houston Astros past the Texas Rangers 3-2.TORONTO -- Toronto FC is about to find out to find out whether it has won over its beleaguered season ticket-holders. On Tuesday the MLS club reached out to its ticket base, months later than normal, hoping that its off-season moves have given ticket-holders a reason to get back on board a franchise with a 51-105-66 career mark. "A new, winning tradition begins this season for Toronto FC and the most important thing to us is that you are there to share it with us," general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in an email to the clubs 14,600 season ticket-holders. "We hope that you believe in our direction based on the moves that have been made and are still to come and that you will be there with us again this season." Fans have until Jan. 31 to renew their tickets. Toronto opens the 2014 season March 15 in Seattle. MLSE president Tim Leiweke pushed back the renewal date when he cleaned out the clubs front office Sept. 5 as another failed season lurched to a close. January marks the opening of the international transfer window, allowing Toronto to reload. "By then we will either have done what we have to do and they will hold us accountable and say I like what you did, Im in. Or if we fail here, were going to have a mass exodus," Leiweke said in September. "And we get it. Were OK with that, all of us. "We will put our feet to the fire here ... We better do a good job because I dont think a marketing campaign is going to cut it this time." Leiweke and his staff are about to find out how well they have done. Ryan Jensen Jersey. "Every move weve made this off-season has been made with our promise to you in mind, Bezbatchenko said in Tuesdays email. In a bid to lure ticket-holders back, Toronto is maintaining the same prices as last year and offering two complimentary lower bowl tickets to a 2014 Toronto Raptors game for signing up by the early renewal deadline of Jan. 17. The club has made moves to improve. Toronto has already signed Brazilian striker Gilberto, with England star Jermain Defoe expected to join him soon. The signing of former league MVP Dwayne De Rosario, who played in Toronto from 2009 to 2011, is expected later this week. Those recruits are expected to bolster an attack that produced just 30 goals last season, second-worst in the league. Since the end of the 2013 season, Toronto has also acquired MLS experience in the form of Brazilian midfielder Jackson and defender Justin Morrow while picking up draft picks in trading away the rights of goalkeeper Stefan Frei and midfielder Bobby Convey. While Toronto finished out of the playoff for a seventh straight year with a 6-17-11 record in 2013, there were encouraging signs under first-year manager Ryan Nelsen. The team showed a strong spine with Joe Bendik excelling in goal, Scottish defender Steven Caldwell providing stability at centre back and captain, and young Argentine Matias Laba strengthening the midfield. Salary cap issues have largely been straightened out and the current 24-man Toronto roster features 19 players aged 25 or younger. Clutterbuck was selected in the third round of the NHL Entry draft, 72nd overall and has spent his entire NHL career with the Wild. The 25-year-old forward scored a career high 19 goals in 2010/11 but is known more for his bruising style and punishing hits. Over 346 games in parts of six seasons, Clutterbuck has 62 goals, 48 assists and 337 penalty minutes. Place Stadium.I wanted this championship for everybody in this locker-room, he said. Thats all that mattered. This other stuff, all this superficial stuff, it doesnt matter. Its all about this feeling right now — and trying to never feel it again. The 30-year-old Chatham, Ont., native earned top Canadian honours after recording a game-high six catches for 81 yards in a losing cause. Five of his receptions came in the fourth quarter as the Ticats attempted a late rally that fell short. Only Calgarys Eric Rogers gained more yards (10 while making five receptions.Fantuz made three catches during a 10-play, 45-yard scoring drive that culminated with a 12-yard Justin Medlock field goal and reduced Hamiltons deficit to 20-13 in the fourth quarter. But the Tiger-Cats could only muster one more Medlock three-pointer, from 37 yards, before the final gun sounded. The strong second-half performance came after Fantuz managed just one catch — a 21-yard gain that proved to be his longest reception of the night — in the first half, when the Stampeders built a 17-7 lead.We started too slow, said Fantuz, whose award came after he went without a catch in limited duty in the Eastern Finnal and missed the last three games of the regular season with a torn hamstring. Chris Paul White Jersey. We let them get out. They made more (big) plays than us throughout the game. We started to build momentum, especially in the fourth (quarter), but it was too little, too late.Despite his misery, Fantuz expressed some satisfaction with the season that had just ended. He played a leadership role as the Ticats overcame a 1-6 start to the season, finished first in the East Division with a 9-9 mark and ousted the Montreal Alouettes in the East Final. The Tiger-Cats were denied in their quest to become only the second team in CFL history to win a Grey Cup following such a start. The B.C. Lions were the first to do so, in 2011 on the same B.C. Place Stadium turf. This year was special to me, said Fantuz after the Tiger-Cats lost the championship game for the second straight year. It was my first year as a captain, and to see the guys rally together and turn a handful of captains into a team full of captains really made it a special year for us.But Fantuz could not take much joy in that point, or the fact that he had appeared in his fifth Grey Cup contest — more than any other player on the field Sunday — either.I love everyone in this room, he said. Im so disappointed for us.Note to readers: This is a corrected version of an earlier story. Hamilton finished first in the CFL East, not second as previously stated. HONG KONG -- Canada moved up two places to seventh in the IRB Sevens World Series standings after finishing tied for seventh Sunday at the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens. Yasmany Tomas Diamondbacks Jersey . New Zealand brushed aside England 26-7 to win the event and reclaim top spot in the overall standings. The All Blacks, the defending World Series champions, won their third tournament this season in style, running four tries past England to claim their 11th Cup championship in Hong Kong and first since 2011. Canada finished runner-up to England in Pool C with a 2-1-0 record to reach the quarter-finals of the elite Cup competition for the fourth event in a row. And it led Australia twice in Sundays quarter-final -- 5-0 and 12-7 on tries by Harry Jones and Ciaran Hearn -- before giving up a converted try in the final minute. Canada then lost 31-14 to Wales in the consolation Plate semifinal. Wales led 19-0 before Canada got on the board. Jones and Sean Duke scored tries for Canada. The Canadians were without captain Nathan Hirayama, ruled out by injury. Canada finished 12th in last years series standings. In Sundays final, first-half tries from Ben Lam and Tim Mikkelson gave New Zealand a 12-0 lead but England hit back just before the break when Tom Powell burst through to touch down from a quickly taken tap penalty to reduce the deficit to just five points. But evergreen captain DJ Forbes, who had a huge impact on the final day with his bustling play at the breakdown, quickly put New Zealand back in command, stretching the lead after receiving a huge cut-out pass from Sherwin Stowers to score uncontested. "We were given a lesson by England last week (in Tokyo) but here we are on the podium. It feels good to win in Hong Kong again," said an elated Forbes. Despite a second try by Lam being overturned, and the winger being penalized for an off-the-ball offence, the men in black had too much firepower and sub Sam Dickson sealed victory with his sides fourth try. The victory allowed New Zealand to regain the lead from South Africa who had entered the Hong Kong Sevens holding a two-point lead. With two more legs remaining in Scotland and England in May, New Zealand top the standings with 136 points, seven points ahead of South Africa who stumbled badly after losing in the Cup quarter-finals to England, 14-7. Fiji are third on 112 while England fourth on 105. England had booked its berth in the Cup final with a 17-7 victory over Fiji in the semifinal. Fiji had looked impressive in the run-up and seemed on course for back-to-back titles after winning in Tokyo last week but came undone against a disciplined English side. New Zealands path to the final was a 28-5 win over Wales in the quarter-finals followed by a 19-7 victory over trans-Tasman rivals Australia. Japan became the first Asian team to win a core team spot on the World Series when it won the qualifying tournament defeating Italy 26-5. Japan will play in the remaining two legs this season in Scotland and England, and all nine legs in the World Series next season. Zack Greinke Jersey . With newly minted president of hockey operations Trevor Linden looking on from above one day after being handed the keys to the franchise, it was more of the same on Thursday night. Randy Johnson Jersey . The Asheville, N.C. native, who signed as a free agent with the CFL club last May, didnt see any action with Edmonton this season after opening the year on the injured list. http://www.diamondbacksteamproshop.com/diamondbacks-a-j-pollock-jersey/ . - Novak Djokovic beat John Isner 7-5, 6-7 (2), 6-1 on Saturday to reach the final of the BNP Paribas Open, where hell resume his longtime rivalry with Roger Federer.PITTSBURGH -- Matt Calverts first career playoff goal gave the Columbus Blue Jackets a badly needed boost. His second ended 4,493 days of futility for a franchise that is quickly morphing from laughingstock to something considerably more potent. Calvert banged his own rebound past Marc-Andre Fleury 1:10 into the second overtime and the Columbus Blue Jackets earned their first Stanley Cup playoff win with a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night. Fleury stuffed the initial shot by Cam Atkinson but Calvert stood all alone at the left post. His first shot went into the goaltenders right pad. He roofed his second into the top of the net to even the Eastern Conference quarterfinals at one game each. Game 3 is Monday in Columbus. "You always dream about being the hero in overtime," Calvert said. "We battled for it and it didnt come easy. We were down a couple goals at different times. The penalty kill was great when it had to be and its just a great feeling right now." The Blue Jackets trailed 3-1 after the first period, but Calverts short-handed goal 7:31 into the second changed the game completely. "It gave hope to our guys," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "It was 3-1 at the time and we scored to make it 3-2. You could feel it on the bench. After that I felt we played a very strong game." Looked like it. Jack Johnson eventually tied it with 6:01 left in regulation. Ryan Johansen also scored the first playoff goal of his career for Columbus. Sergei Bobrovsky overcame a shaky start to finish with 39 saves. Brian Gibbons scored twice and Matt Niskanen added his second goal of the playoffs, but Pittsburgh was outplayed for much of the final three-plus periods. Fleury made 41 stops but was helpless on the game-winner. "We have to be better," said Pittsburgh star Sidney Crosby, who had two assists but was held without a goal for the second straight game. "Thats really, I think, the bottom line. Right on through, whether its special teams or 5-on-5 we have to be better." The Penguins have dropped four straight home overtime playoff games and blew a chance to take a 2-0 series lead when they failed to bury the Blue Jackets early on. Pittsburgh, the best power play team in the NHL during the regular season, went just 1 for 8 with the man advantage, including 0 for 2 in overtime. Even worse, Columbus has two short-handed goals in as many games. Both teams traded quality chances in the first overtime. Bobrovsky made an excellent blocker save on Crosby racing ddown the right wing and got a piece of Lee Stempniaks rebound. Robbie Ray Jersey. . Fleury stuffed R.J. Umberger from point-blank range earlier in the period. There was no back-and-forth in the second extra session. Brandon Dubinsky started the winning play by finding Atkinson in front and Pittsburghs defence offered little resistance until the puck was on Calverts stick for the winner. "We stuck with it and we just kept playing and kept going and we got a split in Pittsburgh and thats what we wanted," Calvert said. The Penguins knew they couldnt afford a repeat of the first 21 minutes of Game 1, when the Blue Jackets knocked them around while streaking to a two-goal lead before Pittsburgh rallied to escape. This time, the start wasnt the problem for the Penguins. It was everything else. Gibbons scored the first two playoff goals of his career 54 seconds apart -- including a nifty short-handed breakaway in which he undressed Bobrovsky -- to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead before the game was 5 minutes old. The giddiness didnt last long, for the Penguins or Gibbons. Johansen scored before the power play expired and Gibbons, elevated to Pittsburghs top line midway through Game 1, did not return after colliding with Johansen midway through the first period. While a Niskanen shot from the point with 2:08 left in the first restored Pittsburghs two-goal edge, it only seemed to galvanize the Blue Jackets. The Penguins earned back-to-back power plays early in the second period and somehow lost momentum. Some lethargic Pittsburgh passing set up a 3-on-1 short-handed breakaway for the Blue Jackets, with Calvert beating Fleury to bring Columbus within one. The disjointed effort by the Penguins deflated the bench and the building. The wave carried over into the third, with Columbus eventually drawing even on Johnsons power-play goal with 6 minutes to go before Calverts winner gave Columbus a taste of playoff success after 13-plus years of waiting. "Its a big step for us as a group and an organization," Calvert said. "It felt great, and Im sure were going to enjoy it tonight, but its a long series." NOTES: The Blue Jackets scratched forward Nick Foligno once again with a lower body injury but Foligno is optimistic hell be able to return for Game 3. ... Crosbys two assists moved him into third on the teams career post-season scoring list. He now has 108 post-season points, trailing Jaromir Jagr (147) and Mario Lemieux (172). ... Columbus D Fedor Tyutin missed the third period and overtime due to an undisclosed injury. Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork. Sebastian Rudy Bayern Munich Jersey .com) - Former champion Maria Sharapova and third seed Simona Halep notched wins, while former runner-up Ana Ivanovic was a stunning opening-round loser on Day 1 at the Australian Open. The second-seeded former world No. 1 Sharapova eased past Croat Petra Martic 6-4, 6-1. The reigning French Open champion titled here in 2008 and was an Aussie runner-up in 2007 and 2012. Sharapova opened her 2015 season with a title in Brisbane two weeks ago. Her second-round opponent on Wednesday will be fellow Russian Alexandra Panova. Last years French Open runner-up to Sharapova, Halep, handled Italian Karin Knapp 6-3, 6-2 at Melbourne Park. Halep opened her latest season with her ninth career title in Shenzhen, China, two weeks ago. Shell meet Aussie Jarmila Gajdosova on Day 3 this week. Meanwhile, Czech Lucie Hradecka sent shockwaves by ousting fifth-seeded Ivanovic 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 at Rod Laver Arena. The Serbian Ivanovic, who was the Aussie runner-up to Sharapova in 2008, suffered her earliest exit at a Grand Slam event since the French Open in 2011. She was a quarterfinalist in Melbourne last year. I think the whole match I didnt really feel like myself out there, Ivanovic said. It was really tough for me to find a rhythm a little bit. In the third set, I really felt like she raised her level. Hradecka, playing her first Grand Slam main draw since last years Aussie Open, lost in qualifying at the other three majors in 2014. The doubles specialist entered the week ranked 142nd in singles play. She has 18 doubles titles, but none in singles. In the first set I was so nervous, Hradecka said. I couldnt hit any balls in the court. When I went outside, I started to serve in the second set, I thought, Okay, it cannot be the worst. Lets play every point and lets see what will happen. Its the earliest exit by a top-5 seed since 2003, when then No. 3 Jennifer Capriati was ousted by Marlene Weingartner. Seventh-seeded Canadian star Eugenie Bouchard doused German Anna-Lena Friedsam 6-2, 6-4, while another upset saw Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania beat No. 9 seed Angelique Kerber of Germany, 6-4, 0-6, 6-1. Bouchard was the only woman to appear in three Grand Slam semifinals last year. Bouchards second-round opponent will be Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens. Several other women moved on, including Americans Christina McHale and Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Puerto Rican Monica Puig and Italian veteran Roberta Vinci. On Tuesday, top seed Serena Williams will meet Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck and fourth-seeded Wimbledon champ Petra Kvitova will face Dutchwoman Richel Hogenkamp. The reigning U.S. Open champion Williams owns 18 career Grand Slam titles, including a whopping five Aussie crowns. Also slated for opening-round action on Day 2 are sixth-seeded former Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwanska, eighth-seeded former No. 1 and 2014 U.S. Open runner-up Caroline Wozniacki, 11th-seeded 2014 Aussie Open runner-up Dominika Cibulkova, 18th-seeded former top-ranked star and former Aussie finalist Venus Williams, and unseeded two-time Aussie champ Victoria Azarenka, who will battle American Sloane Stephens. Kingsley Coman Jersey .com) - Sixth-seeded Feliciano Lopez was a first-round winner on Monday at the Delray Beach Open tennis event. David Alaba Jersey .The Dallas Cowboys released Sam from the practice squad Tuesday, dropping the rush end as they prepare for several potential reinforcements to return to the defensive line. http://www.fcbayernmunichstore.com/Women-Manuel-Neuer-Bayern-Munich-Jersey/ . The Canadian defensive tackle suffered the injury on Monday and had tests done on Tuesday. He was a potential starter on the defensive line but head coach Mike OShea said he wasnt even thinking about the ratio when he got the news. EDINBURGH -- Meaghan Benfeito couldnt hide her disappointment. The Canadian diver had just made a critical mistake on her and partner Roseline Filions fourth attempt in the womens synchronized 10-metre platform final at the Commonwealth Games -- an error that left their medal hopes hanging in the balance. But instead of dwelling on the flubbed back 3 1/2 somersault, Benfeito gathered herself in hopes of still securing a top-three finish. "Theres still another dive left. I know how to do all my dives properly," said 25-year-old. "I think our last dive is our strongest one and I knew if we nailed it we could get on the podium." And nail it they did. Benfeito and Filion produced a textbook back 2 1/2 somersault with 1 1/2 twists to not only get on the podium Wednesday, but win a gold medal that seemed improbable just minutes earlier. "I wasnt expecting to come out of this with a gold," said Benfeito. "I knew that we were still in the hunt for a medal. Gold, I didnt think so, but our last dive is a strong dive and its the reason its our last dive. "We did it pretty well and were happy with the result." Montreals Benfeito and Filion, of Laval, Que., scored a total of 310.65 points, just ahead of Englands Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch with 307.92. Malaysias Pandelela Rinong Pamg and Nur Dhabitah Sabri took bronze with a score of 300.12. Benfeito and Filion were awarded 76.80 points on their final dive, but the 2012 Olympic bronze medallists could only wait for the leaders final attempts. When Barrow and Couch tallied just 70.08 on the same dive, the Canadians knew they had pulled out the tricky event that was delayed by 35 minutes due to a technical glitch that forced judges to display scores using flip cards. "It was tough for everyone," said Filion. "I knew it was going to be close, but I didnt expect to win at all." The 27-year-old has partnered with Benfeito for more than a decade and said they werent affected by the late start. "We were prepared for all these kinds of problems," said Filion. "Our team manager said in a meeting You never know whats going to happen. Be prepared, be ready. "We could wait the amount of time it took. We were there to compete and dive annd thats what we did. Corentin Tolisso Jersey. ." Wednesday marked the first of four competition days at the cosy Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh, about a 75-kilometre drive from Glasgow. Later Wednesday, Lavals Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., won silver in the three-metre springboard with a score of 295.65. Englands Alicia Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree won gold, and Australias Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith took bronze. The 22-year-old Abel was a bronze medallist in three-metre synchro at the 2012 Olympics with former partner Emilie Heymans, and again at last years world championships with the 21-year-old Ware. Abel won gold in the one- and three-metre individual events -- as well as a silver with Heymans in the three-metre synchro -- at the Commonwealth Games four years ago in New Delhi. Benfeito and Filions come-from-behind victory capped an impressive season for the pair, who finished 2014 with a podium appearance in each of their eight international events. But even with a gold medal hanging around her neck, Benfeito was still kicking herself for her miss on the fourth attempt. "Its a dive that causes me a lot of problems, but its usually good in synchro," she said. "I am disappointed that I missed because we could have won by a lot more, but it happens. "Its in the past. Youve got to move on, youve got to do another really good dive and thats what we did." Benfeito and Filion won silver in 10-metre syncho at last years world championships, and will compete in the individual 10-metre event here as veterans on a young Canadian team that has seen a number of retirements in recent years, including Alexandre Despatie. "Its so weird because we used to be the babies on the team," said Filion. "Its interesting for me because I get to give a little bit of advice, when I used to get all the advice." Added Benfeito: "The transition has been really easy so I think that makes the team even stronger." What the young Canadian divers here in Scotland learned on Wednesday from their now-veteran teammates was simple. "Anything can happen and its definitely not over until the last dive," said Benfeito. "You have to give everything you can until the end." HAMILTON - Nic Grigsby has quickly become a key part of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats offence. [url=http://www.uswntproshop.com/c-9-me

HAMILTON - Nic Grigsby has quickly become a key part of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats offence. Meghan Klingenberg Jersey .In just three games the five-foot-11, 195-pound Grigsby has emerged as a bona fide rushing threat in a predominately pass-oriented offence. And thats something the Montreal Alouettes must account for Sunday in the East Division final at Tim Hortons Field.Grigsby has 146 yards rushing since joining the Ticats on Oct. 21 after being released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. But Grigsby had 93 yards and a TD on 19 carries in a 29-15 home win over Montreal on Nov. 8 that clinched Hamilton first in the East Division and home-field advantage for the conference finale. And the swirling winds at Tim Hortons Field combined with the likelihood of rain Sunday could make Grigsby an important contributor for the Ticats, who are looking to secure a second straight Grey Cup berth. Hamilton lost last years title game 43-25 to the hometown Saskatchewan Roughriders. The running game in the playoffs is very important, Grigsby said. You just cant throw the ball all four quarters.Youve got to establish the run to win the game. Youve got to establish that presence, move the ball, move the chains and hold the ball.Hamilton was ranked sixth overall in rushing (91.2 yards per game) despite posting the second-fewest carries (304). By comparison, the Ticats attempted 622 passes, second only to the Toronto Argonauts (681).A balanced offence is much more challenging to defend than one thats one-dimensional. But when the weather turns cold and windy — and impacts the passing game — being able to run effectively becomes crucial. The more versatile you can be, especially this time of year, the better, said Ticats head coach/GM Kent Austin. If you have multi-facets to your offence that they have to defend, its not just the production but its also the adjustments that have to be made that may buy you time with respect to staying ahead in the gameplan and playcalling. The run game was certainly important for Montreal in its 50-17 East Division semifinal win over the B.C. Lions last weekend. The Alouettes rushed for over 200 yards and four TDs in the contest. They rely on the run game and getting the ball to their playmakers, Austin said. We understand weve got to be stout against the run.Hamiltons defence has been tough to run against all season, allowing a league-low 76.8 yards per game. The Ticats also held Montreal to just 17 rushing yards in their last matchup. The key is just to be disciplined, said Ticats linebacker Simoni Lawrence. You have to trust everybody around you . . . and just make plays when its time to make plays.Last weekend, I thought Montreal did a great job making plays. B.C. was caught off guard a little bit, they werent where they were supposed to be and with Montreal you have to be very disciplined and do what you have to do.Lawrence said Hamiltons defensive gameplan Sunday will be a simple one.Its to play as hard as we can, take care of our business and understand were a good enough team that if we play our best were going to win, he said. As long as we prepare, there shouldnt be any pressure.Pressure is only for people who dont come prepared and I feel we do a great job of preparing for games. And after roughly a month in Hamiltons offence, Grigsby says hes feeling more comfortable these days.Theres less pressure than jumping in right away with all the expectations, he said. It loosens you up now that you get the feel of your offensive linemen up front and the game slows down a little bit.It relaxes you and lets you just play.Grigsby said establishing the run creates two advantages for an offence: It keeps a defence on its heels while setting up other elements of the offensive gameplan. It opens a lot up because the defence must pick its poison, Grigsby said. It must come down in the box or sit back and defend against the pass because we have great players on that side with Speedy (Brandon Banks), Sink (Terrell Sinkfield), Bakari (Bakari Grant), Task (Luke Tasker) and Fantuz (Andy Fantuz). We have many guys who can open stuff up.However, Grigsby said it all starts with quarterback Zach Collaros and Hamiltons offensive line.Zach is very mobile so that takes a lot of pressure off us that he makes plays on his own, he said. Our offensive line is also starting to come together right now, they know whats at stake, theyre hungry up there and its good to have that. But Montreal held B.C. to just 102 yards passing with two interceptions last weekend. Defensive back Jerald Brown had one of the picks and a 104-yard fumble return for a TD.Montreals defence will be physical so you have to strap up every play and be ready to go, Grigsby said. If youre not, theyre going to hit you in the mouth.Of course were going to take the positives (from Nov. 8 win) but well also take the negatives and evaluate them and see what we have to do to get better . . . we must execute no matter what. Rose Lavelle Jersey . The 23-year-old from Thornhill, Ont., defeated Germanys Benjamin Becker 6-3, 6-4 on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Sony Open in just 89 minutes. Crystal Dunn Jersey . CHAUNCEY BILLUPS (Pistons): Yes they got Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings in the off-season and Andre Drummond is a beast (teams are kicking themselves for passing on him - he rebounds and block shots every game - thats two more discernable and significant skills than most guys in his draft class), but dont for a second discount the impact of having a savvy veteran like Billups on your team. http://www.uswntproshop.com/c-5-allie-long-usa-jersey.aspx . Englands only win in the four most recent trips north had been tight, and Scotland was expected after losing 28-6 to Ireland six days ago to show some venom against its archrival. DENVER -- Jordan Lyles couldnt locate his fastball. He had no trouble picking up heaters from Felipe Paulino or Daniel Webb, though. Relying on sinkers and sliders, Lyles pitched effectively into the seventh inning in his Coors Field debut for the Rockies. He also added a career-best three hits and drove in two runs during Colorados 8-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Monday night. "It was the Brandon Lyles show tonight," Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez each homered and made a spectacular defensive play for the Rockies, who beat the White Sox for the second time in six tries in Denver. Lyles (2-0) was headed for Triple-A when Tyler Chatwood pulled a hamstring running the bases in his last start of spring training. Not only did Lyles show resiliency when he didnt have his best stuff Monday, but he flashed athleticism in the field, prowess at the plate and modesty afterward. "Somehow the ball found the bat and the bat hit the ball and guys werent there," he said. Lyles added a nifty play in the field when he charged Paulinos bunt and spun around to throw a strike to Tulowitzki, starting an inning-ending double play in the third. Lyles scattered five hits, walked two and struck out four in 6 2-3 innings. He left after giving up Alexei Ramirezs RBI double and then walking Tyler Flowers in the seventh. Right-hander Adam Ottavino came in and struck out Dayan Viciedo. Lyles usually relies on a two-seam fastball with good movement. But on this night, he had to rely more on his breaking pitches and changeups. "Actually, fastball location wasnt there tonight for the most part," Lyles said. "I really wanted to spin it and for the most part, it was pretty good." Lyles joined the Rockies from Houston in a trade for Dexter Fowler last winter. While with the Astros, hee made just one appearance at Coors Field, receiving a five-inning no-decision on May 28, 2012, when he had a single in two at-bats and scored a run. Abby Smith Jersey. The last Colorado pitcher to go 3 for 3 was lefty Brian Bohanon against the Dodgers on July 20, 2001. Paulino (0-1) allowed six earned runs on nine hits and four walks in 4 1-3 innings in his return to Coors Field, where he pitched for the Rockies in 2011 before being plagued by arm troubles the last two years. "They got me today," Paulino said. "Even the pitcher." Tulowitzki led off the sixth with his first homer of the season, one that barely cleared the wall. "I knew it had a chance, but I wasnt sure," he said. Gonzalezs homer, his third of the year, was a line-drive shot to right in the first inning. "Ive been on deck for a lot of his home runs, obviously, and that one got out quicker than any one that Ive ever seen," Tulowitzki said. Lyles helped his own cause with a double into left-centre an inning later that scored D.J. LeMahieu from first base for a 2-0 lead. The Rockies loaded the bases in the third, when Wilin Rosario bounced an infield single off Paulino to make it 3-0, and in the fifth, when LeMahieus single just over the glove of second baseman Marcus Semien made it 4-0 and chased Paulino. Lyles, who singled leading off the fourth, greeted Webb with a line-drive RBI single up the middle to make it 5-0, and Charlie Blackmon followed with a sacrifice fly. "At one point their pitcher is outhitting us," Chicago manager Robin Ventura lamented. "Thats never a good sign. We need to be a lot better than that." NOTES: This marked Chicagos first night game of the season. ... Before the game, the Rockies activated LHP Boone Logan from the 15-day DL and optioned OF Corey Dickerson to Triple-A Colorado Springs. WASHINGTON -- The 2014 Winter Olympics are Alex Ovechkins showcase, and hell be the first Russian to carry the torch toward Sochi. Vadim Shipachyov Golden Knights Jersey . Ovechkin will travel to Greece this weekend and take the torch after its ignited in Olympia. Hes set to return to Washington on Sunday and then practise with the Capitals on Monday. They travel to Chicago later Monday and open the season Tuesday against the Blackhawks. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and something I will never forget," Ovechkin said in a statement released by the team. "I would like to thank the Washington Capitals organization and all of my teammates for their support in enabling me to travel to Greece prior to the regular season." There was concern about timing, given that the Capitals start the regular season on the road. Ovechkin will miss their final pre-season game Saturday, but his schedule does not have him in danger of being out for the opener. "This is a huge honour and we are so proud, and excited for Alex and his family," Capitals owner Ted Leonsis said in the statement. "This is a very special event and we are thrilled that he was recognized for his past achievements and his dedication to his craft and his country." Ovechkin and other Russian stars said numerous times before the NHL agreed to send players to Sochi that they would go anyway. Leonsis even went so far as to declare he would let his captain go. Thats a moot point after an agreement was reached. "Im very excited," Ovechkin said earlier this month at the leagues player media tour in Newark, N.J. "Im going to play at home in front of Russian fans, family. Its going to be fun, its going to be cool." Brendan Leipsic Golden Knights Jersey . The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the confidential nature of the search, confirmed reports by several media outlets. The interview took place in Southern California on Monday. Teemu Pulkkinen Jersey . Cory Batey and Brandon Vandenburg were each convicted on four charges of aggravated rape, one of attempted aggravated rape and two for aggravated sexual battery. Vandenburg was also found guilty of tampering with evidence as well as an unlawful photography charge. http://www.goldenknightsproshop.com/authentic-brad-hunt-golden-knights-jersey/ .FIFA says it is relaxing the rule which forced match officials to leave its international list at the end of the year they turned 45.LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Magic Johnson wants the Los Angeles Lakers to lose every game this season for their own good.Coach Byron Scott thinks theyre better off learning how to win, and thats just what they did several hours after Magics latest pointed comments.Johnson discussed the struggling Lakers on Tuesday at a promotional appearance in New York, and the Hall of Famer dished out some blunt thoughts on the 16-time champion franchises future.I hope the Lakers lose every game, the former Lakers point guard said. Because if youre going to lose, lose. And Im serious. If youre going to lose, youve got to lose, because you cant be in the middle of the pack. You either have to be great, or youve got to be bad to get a good pick.A few hours later, Scott responded to his former Lakers backcourt mate by stressing the importance of establishing a winning climate surrounding Kobe Bryant. Scott says tanking wouldnt be entertained by the Lakers, whose 6-16 record is tied for the second-worst in the Western Conference.Thats easy to say, but when youre behind the scenes and youre in the trenches and youre coaching, thats not something that you want to do, Scott said. Weve got to go out here and win every game possible. I mean, if you lose games, thats one thing. But to go out and try to lose, thats a different story. I think that sends a message to those guys in there that its going back to that losing mentality. We dont we want to create that here.Bryant scored 32 points in the Lakers 98-95 win over Sacramento on Tuesday night, snapping a three-game skid. Kobe also wants no part of Magics plan.Hes used to being an owner, Bryant said with a laugh. Hes the owner of the Dodgers. He was an owner of the Lakerrs. Oscar Dansk Golden Knights Jersey. Thats speaking from an owners perspective. ... I think the fans — hopefully some of them — are smart enough to understand his perspective as an owner. I certainly am. Magic is one of the most competitive players of all-time. He doesnt want to lose. From where Im sitting, I just look at his point of view.Scott also laughed off the extemporaneous comments by Johnson, his good friend. Johnson was viciously critical of former Lakers coach Mike DAntoni in the previous two seasons, but has pledged to be supportive to Scott and the current team.Under DAntoni, the Lakers finished last season 27-55 — the most losses in franchise history and their worst winning percentage in more than a half-century.While longing for losses, Johnson also expressed optimism about the Lakers salary cap space next summer and their long-term future. He also knows another top draft pick could help: The Lakers chose Julius Randle with the seventh overall pick last year, but the teenager broke his leg on opening night and was lost for the season. The Lakers are in a good space, too (for) next summer if they can sign or trade for a talented guy, Johnson said. So Id rather be all the way bad than be in the middle like we were for a couple of those years we were getting the eighth, 10th, 12th pick. You cant get better by doing that.Scott would rather return the Lakers to success the old-fashioned way.If you go out here and play hard, youll hopefully get rewarded in the right way, Scott said. You can get the type of player that you want, that can come in here and help you the next year in the draft, and free agent-wise. But the last thing on my mind is losing games right now. At least on purpose. ST. Marcus Rashford England Jersey . JOHNS, N.L. -- Carl Klingberg didnt want to miss out on the fun. Klingberg scored with 30 seconds left to cap a 6-2 win for the St. Johns IceCaps, who scored by committee Tuesday night against the Syracuse Crunch in American Hockey League action. Jason Jaffray, Adam Lowry, Kris Fredheim, Will ONeill and Ryan Schnell also scored for the IceCaps (13-10-3). Klingberg said its a good night when a team has six different goal-scorers. "It was good to see a lot of players score and it gets people going," he said. "I felt like I wanted one all game and I had a couple of chances, including a breakaway I missed. Im always looking to work hard and scoring a goal is fun." IceCaps head coach Keith McCambridge was happy with his teams offence, but he was more content with getting the win. "(Im happy) just having the win and being able to execute on the power play to get us goals," McCambridge said. "I like that we defended well and that we limited shots against. Those are good features in your game. The details were there and I thought we paid really good attention to that tonight." For Fredheim and Schnell, it was their first goals of the year. Schnell is more known for his physical game -- he leads the team with 88 penalty minutes. "I really like the way Schnell has been playing," McCambridge said. "Hes a physical guy, provides energy and keeps other teams honest. For him to score, thats good for him but Im never concerned with him scoring goals. "Kris Fredheim has quarterbacked that power play for us for a little while and I thought he looked really poised back there and its nice to see him able to step into a shot and get rewarded." Mike Angelidis and Cedric Paquette answered for the Crunch (11-9-3). Jaffray opened the scoring for the IceCaps, connecting on a one-time slapshot 8:23 into the first period that beat Kristers Gudlevskis high over the blocker on the power play. Captain Angelidis equalized for Syracuse, tapping in a cross-crease pass on a 2-on-1 rush at the 11:10 mark of the first. Lowry made it 2-1 IceCaps with 1:57 left in the first, sneaking a wrist shot five hole from the slot through traffic. At the 7:05 mark of the second, Fredheim scored another power-play goal for the IceCaps, hitting a slapshot high blocker from the point. Twelve seconds later, IceCaps forward Schnell beat Gudlevskis with a wrister, chasing the goalie from the net. ONeill scored for the IceCaps with 10 seconds left in the second, finishing a one-timed slapshot from the point. Paquette scored high glove to make the game 5-2 at 9:07 in the third before Klingberg finish the scoring. Gudlevskis made 16 saves for Syracuse, while Cedrick Desjardins stopped 25 in relief. Jussi Olkinuora stopped 13 for the IceCaps. Fabian Delph Jersey . The Raptors second-year forward has been one of the primary beneficiaries of the early-season trade, breaking out and becoming a vital part of his teams success on both ends of the floor. Around the league, teams are starting to take notice and feature Ross more predominately in their pre-game scouting reports but its not just the opposition that hes impressing. http://www.soccerenglandfansshop.com/Jamie-Vardy-UEFA-EURO-Jersey/ . He will be practicing with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) on a conditioning assignment. - @AnaheimDucks Corey Perry has a knee sprain and will miss the next three to four weeks. The Buffalo Sabres have assigned centre Sam Reinhart to the Western Hockey Leagues Kootenay Ice. Selected second overall by the Sabres at the 2014 NHL Draft, Reinhart has appeared in nine games with the team in 2014-15, notching one assist. The first year of Reinharts entry-level contract is preserved by virtue of the team sending him back to junior before his 10th NHL game. We want him to get back there and get stronger, Sabres general manager Tim Murray said. Hes going have to find a way - two or three times a week - to slip out on his own and get to the gym and get stronger. Reinhart appeared in 60 games with the Ice in 2013-14, scoring 36 goals and 69 assists for a team-leading 105 points. We want him to think a little more about conditioning and strength and things like that. Hell find a balance with our help, Murray added. The Sabres have managed a 2-8-1 record for just five points through 11 games. Only the Carolina Hurricanes - who have played three fewer games - have a lower points total this season. Reinhart has averaged 10:21 of ice-time in his nine games, almost all of it at even-strength. The start were off to as a team, I think, has an effect on a young guy, Murray said. A young guy plays to what the team is doing. If the team is really successful, I think some of the individual success comes to young players. If the team is going through a rough patch, that kid will go through the rough patch with the team. He was awarded the 2013-14 Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as WHL Player of the Year. He was also a member of Canadas fourth-place 2014 World Junior team. Murray believes this years World Junior tournament will be an important stepping stone in Reinharts development. The World Junior [tournament] becomes important because hes going to play a big role. Hes going to be a leader on the team, Murray said. Hockey Canadas going to lean on him, as they are with a couple other guys. Its a great chance for him to feel good about his game again. Reinhart scored two goals and two assists in seven games at the 2014 tournament and, as a returning member, is a virtual lock to make the team. The Sabres could face another decision in the coming weeks with defenceman Nikita Zadorov. Buffalo selecteed the six-foot-five, 235-pound Russian blueliner 16th overall in 2013, but the defender has only appeared in one game for the Sabres in 2014-15. Danny Welbeck England Jersey. Zadorov, 19, can not be assigned to the American Hockey League, so the Sabres must reassign him to either the Ontario Hockey Leagues London Knights before he plays his 10th game if they wish to preserve a year of his entry-level contract or arrange for him to play overseas. TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reported earlier this week that Zadorovs agent has expressed his preference that Zadorov be allowed to play in Russias Kontinental Hockey League. Murray mentioned that Zadorovs situation has taken a back seat to Reinharts up until now. I havent come to [a] decision yet, he said. That could be tomorrow, that could be in three weeks. Murray noted that any possible move to the KHL was out of his hands. All I know is he stays here for us or he goes to London, Murray said. After that we wont be involved. We cant be involved. Weve tried every avenue and weve been shut down at every avenue. We cant send him to the American League, as per the CBA and the agreement with junior hockey and the things they do. Were talking verbal agreements here and stuff thats way out of our hands. The Sabres GM added that he would be in favour of a rule change that might offer an alternative to the mandatory return of underage players to junior. Nothing against junior hockey, I grew up watching it and know a lot of people in the game, Murray said. There are certain players that are beyond that. I dont know if its an exemption, he continued. I was talking to our guys upstairs and maybe they give us 20 games that we could send [Reinhart and Zadorov] down for and then we have to decide in 20 games: Are they going to junior? Or, are they going to play the NHL? But Murray sees why there would be resistance from the teams that own the junior rights to these players. [CHL clubs] are not going to agree to anything like that. They have to protect their franchises and they feel that they sell tickets based on stars coming back. I understand that. Its a dilemma for development and its not me talking about it, its multiple teams talking about it. Its snowballing right now. CINCINNATI, Ohio -- An MRI test on Friday confirmed that Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, leaving the AFC North leaders without another star player on defence. The All-Pro lineman got the leg bent under him while trying to make a tackle during the first half of a 22-20 overtime loss at Miami on Thursday night. The medical staff initially thought hed torn the ligament, and the test a day later in Cincinnati confirmed it. The Bengals (6-3) didnt have many injuries during their opening push that left them in control of the AFC North, leading second-place Baltimore (3-4). Theyve suffered several significant injuries in the last three weeks. Top cornerback Leon Hall is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon. Safety Taylor Mays also is gone with a dislocated shoulder. Middle linebacker Rey Maualuga got a concussion and hurt his left knee during a 49-9 win over the Jets on Sunday and was on crutches during the week, out indefinitely. Now, theyve lost their top defensive lineman. Atkins led all NFL interior linemen in sacks with 12.5 last season and topped the Bengals with six so far this year. The Bengals are short-handed on the defensive line. End Robert Geathers has been on injured reserve for most of the season with an elbow injury, and reserve tackle Devon Still has missed the last two games. "Weve lost -- between Robert and Geno -- two of the guys up front we count on for a lot," coach Marvin Lewis said. Running back Giovani Bernard had a sensational game on Thursday, picking up 79 yards on nine carries and catching four passes for 25 yards. He had a 35-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that was one of the seasons best, slipping out of a tackle in the backfield, running to the left sideline and cutting back across the field to tie the score, slipping away from defenders along the way. He was sidelined late in the fourth quarter and in overtime by bruised ribs. Lewis said on Friday its not expected to be a long-term injury. Tim Duncan could have easily gone out on top, with his fifth NBA championship trophy under his arm and his health intact just a few months after his 38th birthday. Theres just no way. Duncan is having too much fun with his San Antonio Spurs coaches and teammates, and hes playing too well to call it quits now. Duncan has decided to exercise the option on his contract for 2014-15 and will return next season, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press on Monday. The person requested anonymity because an official announcement has not been made. As the Spurs beat the two-time defending champion Miami Heat in the NBA Finals earlier this month, Duncan was asked several times about his future, as he has been for the last five or six years. He was noncommittal, saying he would take some time after the season ended to mull his decision. But after Game 5, most of the Spurs said they expected the group to return and now Duncan has reached his decision, which was first reported by Yahoo! Sports. He will make about $10.3 million next season in the final year of a two-year agreement that was drawn up specifically to allow the Spurs the financial flexibility to surround Duncan with top-shelf talent. "He feels a responsibility to his teammates," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said after the team won the championship. "He enjoys them. He wants to hang around as long as he can while hes useful and while hes having an impact on the game. He takes care of his body. He works out all summer long with a variety of different things, boxing, swimming. Hes very careful about what he puts in his body, so he does everything he can to maintain a level of play. "At some point," Popovich added, "that will stop." But not this year. When Duncan looked around at the Spurs, he saw every reason to come back and try to do just about the only thing the SSpurs havent done during his 17 years there -- win back-to-back titles.dddddddddddd In Popovich he has perhaps the best coach in the game, one who has established a culture of teamwork, success and stability that is unparalleled in the league. In Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, he has two trusted teammates who have been by his side for years, have sacrificed money, fame and statistics right along with him to build the Spurs organization into the envy of the NBA. And in Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, Duncan has a young, fresh-faced star on the rise to carry more of the load as the Big Three get older. "With the front office putting the teams together that weve had and us playing smaller roles and our roles changing over the years, and us happy to accept the roles that were in, I feel we can do it until we feel we dont want to do it anymore," Duncan said two weeks ago. Perhaps as important as anything, Duncan is still one of the best big men in the league. He was named first team All-NBA in 2012-13 as he helped the Spurs to the finals, where they lost to the Heat in a heart-breaking seven-game series. This season, Duncan averaged 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in just 29.2 minutes per game, playing in a system expertly devised by Popovich to limit the wear and tear on his body. He shot almost 57 per cent in the finals and dismantled Heat star Chris Bosh, who grew up with a Duncan poster on his bedroom wall. "Weve been on our last run for the last five or six years from how everyone wants to put it," Duncan said. "We show up every year, and we try to put together the best teams and the best runs possible because what people say doesnt matter to us. "As I said, as long as we feel were being effective, were going to stay out here and were going to play. We feel like we can be effective, and we have been." A question that was repeatedly posed last season, and the season before that and in the 2011 campaign before that.MILAN, Italy -- Juventus gave its fans celebrating a third successive Serie A title another reason to revel in Turin by beating Atalanta 1-0 on Monday. Juventus clinched its 30th league title the day before when second-place Roma lost 4-1 at Catania. There was little excitement on the pitch at Juventus Stadium until Simone Padoin scored against his former club to break the deadlock and keep Antonio Contes side on course to become the first Serie A club to reach the 100-point barrier. Juventus, which has won all 18 of its home matches, has 96 points, and it visits Roma on Sunday before ending the campaign at home to Cagliari. The only worry for Juventus fans will be coach Antonio Conte hinting at a possible departure at the end of the season. "I will speak with the club and we will make the right assessments," Conte said. "It has been three intense years, I have to thank the lads for what they have done. Even tonight they went out there with the desire to win. That mentality, which I have transmitted to the lads, is my greatest merit. "Its not easy to improve on what we have done these past few years. I have to understand if I have the strength to continue ..." Chances were few and far between before Padoin scored in the 72nd minute. The midfielder, who spent five years at Atalanta, drilled in a low shot off the inside of the left post after Carlos Tevez flicked on Paul Pogbas pass. Tevez should have scored his 20th goal of the season with the last kick of the game but the Argentina striker fired wide of an empty net after bbeing unselfishly set up by Fabio Quagliarella. Paul ONeill Jersey. It mattered little, and the final whistle blew moments later to spark joyful scenes of celebration on the pitch and back in the dressing room. "We have been celebrating for more than 24 hours," Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci said. "But we arrived on the pitch with the right attitude and continued our incredible run. Making Juve history isnt easy and the way weve done it is even harder. Juve hasnt won three successive league titles since the 30s, it was right to celebrate, and were really enjoying the moment." Earlier, Lazio scored a stoppage-time penalty to rescue a 3-3 draw at home to Hellas Verona as the clubs saw their Europa League hopes diminish. The clubs are level on points, a point behind Parma and AC Milan, and two behind Torino, which occupies the last European spot. Substitute Romulo thought he scored the winner for Verona seven minutes from time as he was left unmarked to tap home Emil Hallfredssons cross with Lazio goalkeeper Etrit Berisha stranded. But Lazio was awarded a penalty when Michelangelo Albertazzi clipped Miroslav Kloses heels. Albertazzi was sent off, joining Lazios Senad Lulic, who was shown a straight red card minutes earlier for an awful challenge on Juan Manuel Iturbe. Stefano Mauris penalty was saved by Rafael, but the Lazio captain fired the rebound into an empty net. Verona twice fought back, with equalizers from Marquinho and Iturbe after goals from teenage forward Keita Balde and Lulic saw Lazio go in front twice. BUFFALO, N. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Liverpool Jersey .Y. -- Jhonas Enroth stopped 34 shots, and Drew Stafford and Tyler Ennis both had a goal and assist in the Buffalo Sabres 2-0 preseason win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night. The Hurricanes sustained a big loss in the third period when veteran centre Jordan Staal broke a bone in his lower right leg. He was helped off the ice, unable to put weight on the leg. Staal was hurt with 6:35 left after being checked into the boards by defenceman Josh Gorges. Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis announced the diagnosis of Staals injury in a statement roughly two hours after the game. "Im concerned for sure. Hes a big piece of what were going to do moving forward," Hurricanes coach Bill Peters said before learning of the severity of Staals injury. Matt Moulson had a hand in both second-period goals scored 6:16 apart for Buffalo (1-1), which bounced back from a 1-0 loss at Washington on Sunday. Enroth was sharp in gaining the initial edge in a preseason-goalie competition with Michal Neuvirth for Buffalos vacant No. 1 job after Ryan Miller was traded in February. The Hurricanes (0-2) lost despite carrying much of the play over a 20-minute stretch that spanned the opening two periods in which they outshot the Sabres 17-2. Carolinas Anton Khudobin stopped all nine shots he faced before being replaced by Drew MacIntyre midway through the second period. MacIntyre was beaten on the first shot taken at him when Stafford streaked in alone and lifted a backhander into the left side of the net. Ennis was stopped by MacIntyre on his first two chances in front. Ennis then chased down the loose puck behind the net and had his no-look centring pass deflect in off of Staal. Enroth was particularly sharp during the first 10 minutes of the second period. Brendan Woods and Brody Sutter were stopped on bang-bang chances in front 3:20 in. Less than a minute later, Enroth got a piece of Michal Jordans hard shot from the right point. Sabres D Mark Pysyk sustained an upper body injury in the first period and didnt return. Earlier Tuesday, Buffalo returned nine players to Canadian junior teams: Forwards Joseph Blandis (Barrie, OHL), Eric Cornel (Peterborough, OHL), Michael Joly (Rimouski, QMJHL), Vaclav Karabacek (Gatineau, QMJHL) and Jack Rodewald (Moose Jaw, WHL); defencemen Ryan MacKinnon (Charlottetown, QMJHL), Brycen Martin (Swift Current, WHL) and Jared Walsh (Mississauga, OHL); and goalie Francois Brassard (Quebec, QMJHL). NASHVILLE -- Its game balls all around for the Jacksonville Jaguars, winless no more. They can thank the Tennessee Titans for helping them finally get that first victory this season. Owner Shad Khan gave first-year coach Gus Bradley a game ball, and the coach made sure both his boss and general manager David Caldwell each got one, too, after the Jaguars held off the Titans 29-27 Sunday. All the Jaguars will be receiving a game ball to remember this very big win. "What Im excited about is that we improved in many areas," Bradley said. "On my call sheet I was writing down things that were really good that were happening during the game. They just kept piling up. I thought, this is how it feels." Maurice Jones-Drew and Jordan Todman each ran for a touchdown as the Jaguars left Tampa Bay at 0-8 as the only winless team left. The Buccaneers host Miami on Monday night. The Jaguars (1- scored the most points in a game this season. They never trailed and forced four turnovers they turned into 17 points. "Its definitely a great feeling," Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne. "Hopefully we can build on this. We cant become complacent and say we got our first win ... weve still got to improve on what weve done today and get better individually." The Titans scored twice in the final 4:15, the last on a 14-yard TD pass by Ryan Fitzpatrick to Delanie Walker with 40 seconds left. But Johnathan Cyprien recovered the onside kick to seal the victory. On a day the Titans (4-5) held a moment of silence for late owner Bud Adams, they got caught looking ahead to Thursday nights AFC South game with division leader Indianapolis. The Titans also lost Jake Locker to an injured right foot that had him on crutches and in a walking boot in the second half. The Titans were coming off an emotional win over former coach Jeff Fisher in St. Louis, and they looked flat from the start -- when even Adams family was late to the stadium and a news conference introducing the owners was scratched before kickoff. "We had a lot of things happen today that should never happen to us in any game," coach Mike Munchak said. The Jaguars took advantage despite being outgained 362-214 in total offence. Henne threw for 180 yards. Outscored 70-15 in the first quarter of the first eight games combined, the Jaguars jumped to a 13-0 lead with Paul Posluszny stripping Chris Johnson of his first fumble this season on Tennessees first offensive play, and Dwayne Gratz intercepting a Locker pass. The first turnover set up Jones-Drew for three straight carries capped by a 6-yard TD run. Josh Scobee kicked his second field goal, a 44-yarder, after the interception, giving the Jaguars their biggest lead in any game this season, 13-0 early in the second quarter. The Jaguars could have had a bigger lead if not for a shotgun snap bouncing off receiver Ace Sanders as he ran in motion. Not even Munchak seemed ready. The Titans coach wanted to challenge a 22-yard sideline catch by Cecil Shorts III, but threw the flag as the Jaguars snapped the ball. Munchak said later he was waiting for a better replay before deciding to challenge. Locker hurt his right foot in the second quarter at the end of an option keeper. He was so hobbled he couldnt connect with Johnson on a handoff on the next play, and the Jaguars recovered with 6:22 left. Locker was on crutches after the game and said he will have more tests Monday. "I was tired of having to come off the field because I was hurt," Locker said. Fitzpatrick replaced Locker, and he threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a 4-yard TD with 4:15 left trying to rally the Titans. But after the Titans forced the Jaguars to go three and out, Fitzpatrick was sacked by cornerback Will Blackmon, who stripped him of the ball and ran it back 21 yards for a 29-20 lead. The Jaguars also held the Titans to a pair of field goals by Rob Bironas in the second half. Bryan Anger pinned the Titans at their 1 with a 42-yard punt, and the Jaguars got a safety when rookie right guard Chance Warmack was called for holding SenDerrick Marks in the end zone. That safety with 7:44 left was the winning margin. "Its something we can build off of," Marks said. NOTES: The Jaguars now have won four of the past six in this series. ... Jaguars receiver Stephen Burton suffered a head injury in the fourth quarter. ... The Jaguars had been outscored by an average 22.3 points through the first eight games. ... Johnson passed Earl Campbell for second all-time behind only Eddie George for most yards from scrimmage in franchise history. One quarter of the way through the NHL season, its time for an early look at the awards races, along with some advanced stats leaders and trailers. There are some early surprises in the race for the Hart Trophy, but two of the contenders are the leagues biggest stars over the past decade. There are many more players in contention for the awards than just the three that Ive named, and a good or bad week can easily alter the landscape, but through the first 20 or so games of the NHL season, this is how the awards races look to me. HART TROPHY Winner: Alexander Steen, LW, St. LouisRunners-up: Alex Ovechkin, RW, Washington; Sidney Crosby, C, PittsburghComment: A career low-percentage finisher (9.8% career shooting percentage), Alexander Steen has been a strong two-way player for much of his time in St. Louis, generating more than three shots per game and playing tough minutes for the last three-plus seasons but, suddenly, this year, he has started scoring at an outrageous rate (17 G, 9 A in 20 GP), thanks both to a career-high 23.3% shooting percentage and career-high 3.65 shots on goal per game. While the shots per game could be sustainable, as his line with David Backes and, often, T.J. Oshie, is one of the leagues best, but when Steens shooting percentage starts to fall, hes unlikely to hold off challengers. Ovechkin recaptured some of his lost lustre last season when he led the league with 32 goals in 48 games (a 55-goal pace in an 82-game season), but hes on fire this season, with 17 goals and 24 points in 19 games. While Ovechin is scoring on a career-high 15.5% of his shots, thats not nearly so far from his career average (12.3%) and his 5.79 shots on goal per game represent the second-best rate of his career. When Ovechkin is generating that many chances, the goals, and points, will follow. Early in the year, this looked like it would be a runaway for Crosby, who is finally healthy and appeared to be at the peak of his powers. A funny thing happened on the way to that coronation, however, as Crosby has endured a bit of a slump. Now, its only a superstar slump, which means nine points in the last 13 games, so its not like hes completely dropped off the map, but when he had 17 points in the first eight games and gave every indication that he would run away with the Hart and Art Ross trophies. NORRIS TROPHYWinner: Erik Karlsson, OttawaRunners-up: P.K. Subban, Montreal; Alex Pietrangelo, St. LouisComment: It has been a trying season for the Ottawa Senators, but Karlsson has been great, scoring a point per game and logging more than 27 minutes of ice time. Not surprisingly, Karlssons top challenger is last years winner, Subban, who has 19 points in 22 games and, despite a manufactured controversy surrounding his ice time, has played a career-high 24:54 per game. This race is a long way from settled, but its kind of cool to have the last two winners off to strong starts again this season. Theres still plenty of time for other defencemen to climb into the conversation. Alex Pietrangelo is playing as well as he ever had, with more offensive production in the early going. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Duncan Keith are a couple more early contenders to consider. VEZINA TROPHYWinner: Tuukka Rask, BostonRunners-up: Josh Harding, Minnesota; Carey Price, MontrealComment: If not for Tuesdays loss in Montreal, the award would go to Harding, but he surrendered three goals in a little more than 33 minutes, opening the door just a crack for Tuukka Rask to take the lead. With a .946 save percentage in 18 games, Rask is not only handling a heavy workload, but hes playing better than ever before, and thats saying something because from 2009-2010 through 2012-2013, he had the best save percentage among goaltenders with at least 100 games played. Thats not to suggest that Hardings year hasnt been incredible -- hes allowed 23 goals against in 18 games (1.38 GAA) -- but hes just a hair behind Rask today. As for other contenders, Price gets the nod over Kari Lehtonen, who missed time with injury, and Torontos duo of Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer, largely because Price has handled the starters workload. CALDER TROPHYWinner: Tomas Hertl, LW, San JoseRunners-up: Seth Jones, D, Nashville; Torey Krug, D, BostonComment: Hertl, the 20-year-old Czech winger burst onto the scene with six goals in his first three games, then went through a bout of mediocrity, scoring four points in the next 11 games, but hes picked up again and with 12 goals and 18 points in 21 games, hes having a lot of success on Joe Thorntons wing. Hes on a 47-goal pace and, sure its not likely to continue, but thats where we are through the first quarter of the season. Jones has been handling a heavy workload, 24 minutes per game, and is facing tough matchups as he frequently pairs with Shea Weber on the Predators top pair. He may not score enough to hold voter interest (see Jonas Brodin last season), but Jones appears to be on the fast track to stardom. A defenceman who may score enough, Krug, is quarterbacking the Bruins power play and has scored half of his 12 points with the man advantage, but he holds his own at even strength to rank ahead of Calgarys Sean Monahan and Detroits Danny DeKeyser. Some rookies that didnt start the year in the NHL, including the Rangers Chris Kreider and the Kings Tyler Toffoli, are close for consideration already, despite playing fewer games. SELKE AWARDWinner: Patrice Bergeron, C, BostonRunners-up: David Backes, C, St. Louis; Dave Bolland, C, TorontoComment: Some things dont change and both Bergeron and Backes have continued in their roles, taking on the toughest matchups for their respective teams, while still controlling puck possession. Keeping the puck away from other teams best players is a great way to defend, by the way, and the continued excellence of Bergeron and Backes in their roles makes for a great competition. If not for suffering his ankle tendon injury, Torontos Dave Bolland would be a challenger because, in addition to tough matchups, Bolland has started a lot of shifts in the defensive zone (a product of the Maple Leafs territorial play). Some others of note early in this season: Vancouvers Chris Higgins, Ottawas Kyle Turris and Columbus Brandon Dubinsky. JACK ADAMS AWARDWinner: Patrick Roy, ColoradoRunners-up: Dave Tippett, Phoenix; Mike Yeo, MinnesotaComment: Always a difficult call because there are many great candidates and we dont know how much of a teams performace is necessarily coaching-related, but Roys start with the Avalanche is too strong to ignore. Fortunately, hes a Hall of Famer goaltender, so no one will be ignoring anything that happens with the Avalanche. Tippett is in contention every year and even if the Coyotes arent the buckled-down defensive team that hes favoured in past seasons, theyve also lost just four games in regulation through the first 21. The reason for including Yeo is a nod towards the Wilds change in style of play towards a stronger puck-possession game, going from below average last season to among the league leaders in Fenwick Close, a metric for possession when the game is most closely contested (ie. within one goal in the first two periods and tied in the third period and overtime). For a team to make such a shift has to come, in some manner, from the coaching staff and how they want their team to approach the game. Jon Cooper and Barry Trotz are deserving candidates as well. For those that have been reading my work for a while, its no secret that I like digging into the advanced stats at www.behindthenet.ca, www.extraskater.com and stats.hockeyanalysis.com, so here are just a couple of interesting stats leaders/trailers at this point in the season (minimum 12 games played). Those that start more shifts in the offensive zone are more likely to generate shots on goal (and points) because of that relatively advantageous location. In some cases, its merely playing to an individual players strengths as an offensive or defensive player, but it might also reflect a coachs level of trust in that player since theres greater risk if something goes wrong in the defensive zone.
