Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork. Rod Carew Twins Jersey .com) - The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without running back LeVeon Bell for Saturday nights AFC Wild Card game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Steelers officially ruled out their team MVP on Friday. Bell hyperextended his right knee in last weeks AFC North-clinching victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Although Bell suffered no ligament damage, he was unable to practice this week. The 22-year-old Bell was the second-leading rusher in the NFL this season, running for 1,361 yards and eight touchdowns. The Michigan State product also caught 83 passes for 854 yards and three scores. The Steelers will try to replace Bells production with rookies Josh Harris and Dri Archer. Pittsburgh also signed veteran Ben Tate earlier this week. Ricky Nolasco Jersey . In the middle game of a three-game series, the Goldeyes (18-12) watched Dunigan drive in all three runs for the New Jersey Jackals in a 3-2 loss in 10 innings at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, N.J. The loss marks the first time this season Winnipeg has lost three consecutive games and drops the Goldeyes record to 5-7 all-time in Can-Am League ballparks. In the bottom of the 10th, Alonzo Harris led off with a single and then stole second base. After Richard Arias laid down a bunt to move Harris to third, Dunigan singled off Goldeyes reliever Gabe Aguilar, who came in to face Dunigan after Kyle Bellamy started the inning, and Harris easily scored the winning run. Winnipegs two runns came off the bat of Donnie Webb in the fourth inning, as Webbs two-run home run gave the Goldeyes a 2-1 lead. Rod Carew Jersey. Dunigan hit solo home runs off Winnipeg starter Nick Hernandez in the first and sixth innings to account for New Jerseys other two runs. The Goldeyes had just five hits in the game and no player had a multi-hit night. Aside from the two home runs, Hernandez was fantastic for the Goldeyes. He struck out nine Jackals in seven innings of work and gave up just one walk. It was his third consecutive quality start. Salvador Sanchez pitched two innings of scoreless relief to get the win, while Bellamy took the loss for Winnipeg. Chris Kissock and Brendan Lafferty also saw action out of the bullpen, combining for 1 2/3 of scoreless work. The Chicago Blackhawks will try to sweep a two-game tour of Ontario when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs in Saturdays battle at Air Canada Centre. Chidobe Awuzie Youth Jersey . The Blackhawks won for the second time in three games on Thursday, picking up a shootout victory over the Ottawa Senators to kick off a brief road trip. Patrick Sharp scored in the third round of the shootout to give Chicago the 5-4 victory in Canadas capital city. Sharp was the final skater of the shootout and he made it count as he faked to the forehand and roofed the puck over Craig Anderson for the win. Its always nice to get a win on the road in a tough place like this, said Sharp. Jonathan Toews scored twice while Kris Versteeg and Marian Hossa each posted a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks. Hossa recorded his 1,000th career point in the victory, becoming the 80th NHL player to reach the milestone. Scott Darling made 28 saves for the win in his third straight start, but with No. 1 netminder Corey Crawford due to return from an upper-body injury tonight, the rookie was reassigned to the clubs AHL affiliate in Rockford on Friday. Darling went 2-1-0 with a 1.98 goals against average during his first foray into the NHL, but, for now at least, it appears head coach Joel Quenneville is content to keep Antti Raanta in the clubs backup role. Crawford is expected to start tonight, while Raanta should get the call in Sundays home tilt versus Winnipeg. The Blackhawks, who are 2-2-0 on the road this season, have dominated Toronto in recent years although the Maple Leafs did post a 7-3 rout when the clubs last met on Dec. 14 of last season at ACC. Chicago had won the previous eight encounters overall between the clubs and had claimed four straight in Toronto. The Maple Leafs, however, enter Saturday having won two straight and three of their last four games. Toronto notched a 4-0 home victory against Buffalo on Tuesday and posted a 4-1 decision Friday evening in Columbus. Phil Kessel and Daniel Winnik both had a goal and two assists, leading the Maple Leafs to the easy win over the Blue Jackets. Kessel, who leads Toronto with 13 points, has recorded four goals and four assists over his last four games and he already has five multi-point games this season. David Clarkson and Nazem Kadri also scored, and Jonathan Bernier made 28 saves for the Maple Leafs. Were feeling good, but the season is full of peaks and valleys, said Winnik, who played in his 500th career game. The Maple Leafs announced before the game that forward Joffrey Lupul will be sidelined indefinitely with a broken bone in his right hand. The oft-injured Lupul has two goals and one assist in nine games this season. James Reimer is likely to start in net tonight for Toronto. His only career appearance against the Blackhawks was on March 5, 2011, when Reimer surrendered five goals in a 5-3 loss. The Maple Leafs recalled centre Sam Carrick from their AHL-affiliate Toronto Marlies on Saturday and the 22-year-old will play in his first NHL game this evening. Carrick was a fifth-round draft pick by the Leafs in 2010 out of the OHLs Brampton Battalion. In 62 games with the Marlies last season, the Markham, Ontario native had 14 goals and 21 assists. He has a lone assist through seven AHL games this season. Jourdan Lewis Youth Jersey . JOHNS, N. Jourdan Lewis Jersey . The Raptors have to get through the pesky New York Knicks Wednesday at Madison Square Garden and can lock up the third spot in the Eastern Conference with a win or a Chicago loss in Charlotte. http://www.footballcowboysshop.us/cowboys-jourdan-lewis-super-bowl-jersey-authentic/ . Phoenix got injured centre Emeka Okafor and a top-12-protected first-round draft pick in 2014 -- giving the rebuilding Suns potentially four choices in the opening round. The Suns also sent guards Kendall Marshall, Shannon Brown and Malcolm Lee to Washington so the deal will work financially.SUNRISE, Fla. -- Nick Bjugstad snapped out of his scoring slump and spoiled Drew MacIntyres first NHL start. Bjugstad had two goals and an assist to lift the Florida Panthers to a 4-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. Brad Boyes and Brandon Pirri also scored for the Panthers. Roberto Luongo, who returned after missing Tuesdays game with an upper-body injury, made 27 saves. Bjugstads goals -- his first two after 21 games -- came less than three minutes apart in the third for his first two-goal and three-point game of his career. "It was a good night," Bjugstad said. "We had to get pucks to the net. First game for that goalie and we wanted to get shots on him. It worked out for us." Paul Ranger and Tyler Bozak scored for the Maple Leafs, and MacIntyre stopped 33 shots. The 30-year-old was making just his second appearance for Toronto this season. "Its been a long, long time but it was awesome. I have few regrets," MacIntyre said. "I was hoping it would be a win, thats how I envisioned it." MacIntyre was drafted by Detroit in the 2001 NHL Draft, which took place in the Panthers arena. "I looked up right at the end of the anthem and saw the Draft 2001 flag and I smiled at myself and said, Its been a fun ride. ... I found it so funny that this rink is my first game." The Panthers won for just the third time in 12 games. The Maple Leafs, who were in playoff contention most of the season, have lost six straight road games in regulation and are 2-11-0 in their last 13 games. The Maple Leafs were eliminated from post-season contention on Tuesday after a 3-0 loss at Tampa Bay. "Very challenging time right now for our group mentally," Maple Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said. "II thought wed have a little bit more compassion for the goaltender that was going in the net for his first NHL start. Taco Charlton Womens Jersey. ... Its very disappointing." At times, the Leafs certainly played like a team that was going through the motions. "Its the first one since were officially out, so its tough. Thats no excuse, weve got to have more pride than that," Bozak said. Leading 2-1,the Panthers stretched their lead on a wraparound goal by Bjugstad, who came from behind the net and stuffed it past MacIntyre at 3:23 of the third. "Its good to get that off my back and not worry about it anymore," Bjugsatd said about ending his scoring drought. Bjugstads second goal made the score 4-1. His short-handed shot from in front off a pass from Tomas Fleischmann easily got by MacIntyre at 6:02. Rangers shot from the point made the score 4-2 with 6:03 left. Boyes broke a 1-1 tie with 3 seconds left in the second. Bjugstad brought the puck from behind the net and passed in front of the crease to Boyes on the right side. He tapped the puck past MacIntyre. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead on Pirris goal 6:06 in. Pirri fired a shot from the top of the left circle and it hit the top right of the net. Pirri has points in five of the past six games. "Getting points is nice, but the team won in the end. Thats whats important," Pirri said. "Were just trying to build every game and every day get better." The Maple Leafs tied it 1-all on the goal by Bozak. Jake Gardiner dropped a pass to Bozak in the left, who wristed to past Luongo on the glove side for his 19th goal of the season, a career-high. NOTES: Pirri celebrated his 23rd birthday on Thursday. ... MacIntyre has played for over nine different minor league teams over a 10-year career. Billy Hamilton finished off Cincinnatis biggest comeback of the season for a doubleheader sweep.CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- LeBron James heard the cheers from the crowd as he lay on the court holding his right thigh and writhing in pain. It only seemed to awaken the four-time league MVP. James scored 19 of his game-high 31 points after sustaining a thigh bruise early in the third quarter, helping the Miami Heat earn a first-round sweep of the Charlotte Bobcats with a 109-98 victory Monday night. He finished Game 4 10 of 19 from the field and had nine assists. "Its definitely sore," James said. "Im fortunate we were able to close out tonight and I can give it a little rest." He should have plenty of time. The two-time defending NBA champions will await the winner of Brooklyn-Toronto series, which is tied 2-2. If that series goes the distance it wont wrap up until Sunday. James said playing Charlotte was a good first test and Miami is headed in the right direction as it looks to win its third straight NBA championship. "We got tested by a young, scrappy Bobcats team," said James, who averaged 36.2 points in eight games against Charlotte this season. "We responded with a championship-type attitude." Chris Bosh added 17 points and Dwyane Wade battled through foul trouble and finished with 15 as Miami extended its winning streak over Charlotte to 20 games. The Heat improved to 16-2 in first-round games since James arrival four years ago. This was the second straight year the Heat swept their first-round series, taking out Milwaukee in four games last season. This was Miamis ninth consecutive series victory. "We improved every game and thats the most important thing about this series," James said. Miami began to take control midway through the third quarter shortly after James gave his teammates a scare when he drove to the basket from the left wing and his right thigh collided with Bismack Biyombos knee, sending James to the floor. Concerned teammates gathered around him and he was down for about a minute. James eventually got up and hobbled to the bench where sat down during a timeout. But he stayed in the game. After the timeout he buried a 3-pointer and a long jumper before a one-handed dunk to help give Miami a 73-66 lead with 4:51 left in the third quarter. Miami pushed the lead to 13 when Norris Cole knocked down a 3-point buzzer-beater from the right corner aat the end of the quarter. Steve Cishek Jersey. Charlotte never got closer than seven points in the fourth quarter. Down the stretch, the Heat went to James time and time again with Wade on the bench with five fouls. James scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, taking advantage of a size advantage against Gerald Henderson. "LeBron was terrific during that stretch of the fourth quarter," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "I thought the last 5 minutes of the fourth quarter there was great execution and trust and the ball was moving and it was just working to the open guy. That was encouraging to see, especially at that time in the game." The Bobcats played without Al Jefferson, their leading scorer and rebounder who has been bothered by a foot injury since the first quarter of Game 1. "If you take away the best offensive player from any team in the league it dramatically changes your team," Bobcats coach Steve Clifford said. Kemba Walker picked up the slack, playing tough throughout and finishing with 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting. "He showed that he is not afraid of the moment," Clifford said. "He had a really good year and finished in a good way so we should be happy about him." Walker called the game a good learning experience for the inexperienced Bobcats. "At the same time its our first go-around in the playoffs for a lot of us and we can only go up from here," Walker said. In the end, turnovers again spelled doom for the Bobcats. They turned it over 16 times, leading to 22 Heat points, including two dunks by James. The loss signalled the end of an era for the Bobcats. They will become the Hornets next season. Before the game the Heat showed solidarity with the Los Angeles Clippers over the Donald Sterling controversy. Like the Clippers on Sunday, the Heat ran out of the tunnel wearing their warmups, huddled at centre court and tossed their white shooting T-shirts to the ground. They then went through their pregame routine with their red Heat warmup jerseys inside out, hiding the teams logo. NOTES: Charlotte never won a post-season game as the Bobcats in franchise history. ... James scored at least 20 points in all four games. ... Tyler Zeller of the Cleveland Cavaliers was in the crowd cheering on his brother Cody, a rookie with the Bobcats. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. James Van Riemsdyk Maple Leafs Jersey . - Sun Life Stadium is currently a mess, and the Miami Dolphins couldnt be happier.Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, along with team and political officials led a tour of the stadium in its latest remodeling phase on Friday, standing in one of the end zones as workers in the stands continued the process of ripping out every existing seat and making way for new ones.Dirt covers much of the field, debris piles are scattered about and the din of construction equipment is constant. When the work is done in 2016, a canopy roof will provide shade, the stadiums capacity will be lessened, the first row of seats will be closer to the sidelines and new video boards will hang — a modernization done in hope of luring Super Bowls back to the area. The NFL, lets face it, they want to come to Miami, Ross said. They recognize its a great place to have a Super Bowl. Were talking things out and hopefully trying to get it on a regular basis. My goal would be to have at least three to five in the next 20 years. The Dolphins are hoping to host a Super Bowl again in 2019 or 2020. The Miami area has played host to the Super Bowl 10 times, the last five of those in the Dolphins current home — but none since 2010, as owners have chosen to award the game to either newer or more amenity-friendly facilities. The Dolphins hope that wont be an issue going forward. This $350 million project will lower the capacity from about 75,000 to roughly 65,000, provide shade over 92 per cent of the seats at kickoff — compared to about 17 per cent for some games there now — and give the 28-year-old facility all the bells and whistles it figures to need to measure up to other stadiums. The canopy roof has been considered a key part of the deal. Fans have long said that even on fall days, the steamy heat and humidity in South Florida can be a drawback from attending either Dolphins or Miami Hurricanes games at Sun Life. The canopy was considered a solution, plus allows the stadium to keep its grass field. What better place? This is the best weather in the United States at Super Bowl time, Ross said. For now, the stadium will retain the Sun Life name, but the team is looking for a new partner for naming rights once the renovations are completed.Ross, speaking afterward on Dolphins-related matters, said:— Related to the hiring of former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum as the Dolphins executive vice-president of football operations earlier this month, Ross said we have an organization and a structure thats going to work. ... Footballs a lot more complex game than it used to be. Tannenbaum was at the event Friday, as was general manager Dennis Hickey.— Ross reiterated that Hickey still has total control of the draft and the 53-man roster.— Ross said he doesnt know if wide receiver Mike Wallace, who didnt play in the second half of the Dolphins season finale and whose future has been the subject of much speculation since, will be back in 2015. Next year we need to win, Ross said.— Ross said the Miami Hurricanes are liking what theyve seen from the renovation plan, and that the team will benefit. The Hurricanes did not factor into the decision-making when the renovation plan was being formulated. Toronto Maple Leafs Hats . From Pierre LeBrun While Anaheim GM Bob Murray said earlier this season he was not going to trade Jonas Hiller despite the fact hes an unrestricted free agent on July 1, some sources have told TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun that Murray might be willing to move another goalie.LEICESTER, England - Manchester United surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 5-3 to Leicester in a wild Premier League game on Sunday, with the promoted side scoring four times in 20 minutes to cap its thrilling comeback.Angel Di Marias exquisite chip put United 2-0 ahead in the 16th minute but it proved in vain as Leicester exposed the visitors defensive frailties to come from 3-1 down with 28 minutes left.Penalties by David Nugent and Leonardo Ulloa a€” the second after Tyler Blacketts sending-off a€” came either side of goals by Esteban Cambiasso and Jamie Vardy as Uniteds defence imploded at King Power Stadium.Robin van Persie and Di Maria scored to give United a great start before Ulloa reduced the deficit in the 18th with a third goal in a five-minute span. Ander Herrera regained the two-goal lead with a deft flick before United collapsed, leaving the team with five points from its opening five games despite a summer spending spree of $250 million. We have too many players who want to seek for the goal, United manager Louis van Gaal said.It is not good, he added, because we have the game in our pocket and gave it away. After beating Queens Park Rangers 4-0 last weekend, Uniteds all-star attack looks in good shape, with Radamel Falcao making his first start and setting up Van Persies deflected header for the 13th-minute opener. Di Maria repaid even more of his $99 million price tag by producing another effervescent diisplay and his goal a€” a scoop over the goalkeeper from about 15 yards (meters) out a€” would have been the highlight on another day. Tyler Bozak Maple Leafs Jersey Authentic. But United continue to look vulnerable defensively, with Blacketts upcoming suspension and a first-half foot injury to Jonny Evans, who left the stadium on crutches, not helping. Leicester could have won by even more as it created chance after chance in the final minutes. It was absolutely brilliant, said Vardy. We exploited their weaknesses and we got the result.Leicesters fightback was sparked by a penalty awarded after Rafael da Silva was adjudged to have pushed Vardy in the back. The striker appeared to have got away with a nudge on Rafael seconds earlier.Nugent slammed his penalty down the middle, Cambiasso drove in a low shot less than two minutes later for the equalizer before Vardy was sent clean through in the 79th minute to slip a low shot past David de Gea, with no United defender near him.Blackett was bundled off the ball by Vardy in the 83rd minute and, in attempts to get the ball back, tackled the striker from behind. Blackett was shown a straight red card and Ulloa made no mistake from the spot. How is it possible to give this game away? Van Gaal said. Leicester has proven already in four games that they have a strong character and that when they are 3-1 down, you can play all the game with more possession but you cannot do these kind of things. Jack Wilshere admits he is unsure if he will ever play for Arsenal again. Randy Johnson Mariners Jersey . The 24-year-old, who has been recalled for England after his impressive performances on loan at Bournemouth this season, says he does not know what the future holds beyond this term.Wilshere insists a loan was the best option for him after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger failed to offer him first-team football guarantees, and believes Bournemouths different approach is benefiting his fitness.Despite his affection for Arsenal, having graduated from the clubs academy, Wilshere admits there may come a time when he will have to consider leaving the club on a permanent basis. Jack Wilshere talks to Sky Sports about his future plans with Arsenal Its difficult for me to say because I love Arsenal and Ive had great times there, and theyve been great for me, and I can still see myself playing there. But who knows what the future holds? Ive got a year left when I go back there. At the moment Im just trying to have a season where it puts me in a good position at the end of the year, Im improved as a player and Arsenal want me back, and well see where we go from there. Jack Wilshere insists he has no issues with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger I always thought to myself of course I love Arsenal but if there comes a time where I have to leave, then I have to leave, you know? If I go back and Im not going to be playing, then, of course, I have to think about things. But at the moment Im concentrating on Bournemouth. I want to put myself in a position where I go back next year and Im a better player, and Im fitter, and I can prove to people I can play week in, week out, and Im ready for the challenge.Wilshere, who has played over 100 Premier League games for Arsenal but spent almost the entirety of last season out with injury, insists he has no issues with manager Wenger. And the midfielder says he would be delighted if the Gunners won the title in his absence. Jack Wilshere has impressed for Bournemouth on loan this season Jack Wilshere has impressed for Bournemouth on loan this season I spoke to Arsene before I went to Bournemouth and he said I would play, but I wanted more than that, he said. I wanted to be an important player for the team and play week in, week out - from the start - and I just got the feeling I needed a change if I was to experience that.I spoke to him on the phone, I didnt speak to him in person, so it was hard to tell (if he wanted to keep me). I said to him I wanted to play and hed already had a feeling that I wanted to go on loan because my agent had spoken to Dick Law (contract negotiator), and I think hed had the chance to think about it, and when I spoke to him he said its fine.I knew that theyd got a strong squad this year, they were in a good position when I left, so of course I want them to win the league. For the manager, especially, Id be delighted.I know that he really believes in that squad and hes worked hard over the years. Hes taken a lot of stick from people but I think thats always been his goal. Its the Premier League, hes working towards that and theyve got a great chance this year. Few critics had given France any chance, but coach Marc Lievremonts team rallied from 8-0 down and came within one kick of taking the lead with 15 minutes remaining, only for flyhalf Francois Trinh-Ducs 49-meter effort to drift wide. The Houston Rockets will try to even their Western Conference quarterfinal series with the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night when the teams play Game 2 at the Toyota Center. Portland snatched Game 1, 122-120, in overtime on Sunday night in Houston thanks to amazing heroics from its two All-Stars. Damian Lillard finished with 31 points, nine rebounds and five assists and LaMarcus Aldridge turned in a monster performance with 46 points and 18 rebounds before fouling out in the extra session. Aldridges 46 points set a Blazers franchise record for points in a postseason game. Down nine with less than five minutes to go in regulation, the Blazers employed the "hack-a-Howard" strategy. Dwight Howard, a 54.7-percent foul shooter, made his first two attempts, but missed the next four as the Blazers rallied with the next 11 points to tie the game on Aldridges two from the line with 2:46 left. James Harden got a tough jumper to fall just inside the final minute of regulation for a 102-99 lead and Aldridge cut it to one with a pair of free throws 13 seconds later. Jeremy Lin missed a runner on the other end, but Howard grabbed the rebound and was fouled. This time, Howard came through for his team and knocked down both free throws for a 104-101 edge. Lillard, however, buried a game-tying trey. On the inbounds pass, Lillard ran his defender Patrick Beverley into a brutal screen which sent him to the deck. Lillard then got Terrance Jones to bite on a pump fake before knocking down the triple. After Harden made it 106-104 with seven seconds left, Wesley Matthews attempted a three from the time out, but it drew iron. Lillard was there for the rebound, but his tip-in didnt fall. AAldridge, though, cleaned up that miss and tied the game again with 2. Joaquin Benoit Jersey. 9 seconds left. Harden couldnt get a tough look from the corner to go as the horn sounded, sending the game into overtime. The Rockets scored the first six points of the bonus period thanks to three- point plays from Howard and Lin. Aldridge and Nicolas Batum, though, hit back- to-back treys and Matthews knocked down two free throws to give the Blazers their first lead since late in the first half. The teams traded blows until Lin blew by his defender and got a layup to fall for a 118-116 lead with 53 seconds left. Lillard, however, used a three-point play on the ensuing trip to put Portland in front. Garcia and Howard split from the stripe before Lillard made the go-ahead free throws. "That was a tremendous game. Obviously when we fouled Dwight he missed some of the free throws, that was a turning point," said Blazers coach Terry Stotts. "They came out and scored the first six in OT, but we responded. We had to win one here, we did it, but were not satisfied. Tonight is behind us, we have to keep going." Howard and Harden both finished with 27 points while Howard pulled down 15 rebounds. Chandler Parsons added 24 and Lin chipped in 14 off the bench. Jones registered a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Beverley injured his knee, but it wasnt as bad as originally diagnosed. Hes expected to play Wednesday night. "Woke up at home, tried to put some weight on it, felt good. Squatted and felt good, one-legged jump felt good," said Beverley. "I did this all at home. I just have an ability to heal quicker than others I guess." Game 3 will be Friday night in Portland. Stefan (Skyscraper) Struve showed early on in his UFC career that he should never be counted out. [url=http://www.baseballroyals

Stefan (Skyscraper) Struve showed early on in his UFC career that he should never be counted out. Kansas City Royals Hoodie . At UFC 99 in Cologne, Germany, in June 2009, the six-foot-11 Dutch heavyweight was gushing blood out of his forehead after taking a string of hammer blows from Denis Stojnic while on his back in the first round. Stojnics forearm looked as if it had been dipped in blood. But a bloody Struve rallied in the second round to take Stojnics back and choke him out. The German crowd roared as Struve, his face a crimson mask and long torso tinged red from blood, rose in victory. "Thats one hell of a Band-Aid," UFC president Dana White said dryly, referring to a plaster the size of a cigarette package on Struves forehead at the post-fight news conference. Struves size -- he is the tallest fighter in UFC history and is tied for longest reach with light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones -- combined with slick kickboxing and submission skills have helped him rise up the heavyweight ranks while compiling a 9-4 record in the UFC. But his career appeared over last year when he was diagnosed with a rare heart condition. Given the OK to resume fighting by his doctors in the Netherlands and the UFCs cardiologist, Struve (29-6) returns to the cage Saturday when he takes on Matt Mitrione at UFC 175 in Las Vegas. "It looks good," Struve, who divides his training between the Netherlands and Los Angeles. "I just need to do checkups two times a year with my doctors in Holland and two times a year with my doctors in LA. "Thats no problem for me. I actually like that I know for sure that my heart is healthy." Mitrione (7-3) is a former NFL defensive lineman who switched to MMA via Season 10 of "The Ultimate Fighter" reality TV show in 2009. Struve, ranked 12th among heavyweight contenders, last fought in March 2013 when he suffered a broken jaw in a knockout loss to hard-hitting Mark Hunt in Japan. Struve says he had been sick for six weeks before the bout and was still under the weather during the fight. "I felt horrible." And he just couldnt recover after. "I just couldnt get over the jet lag. I couldnt sleep at night," he said. "I just didnt feel good and I didnt have any energy." He returned to full training some three months after the loss. Then one day at his parents house, he got dizzy standing up after working at the computer. He sat down and blacked out briefly, "which scared me because I had never had that." He went to the hospital, which couldnt find anything but asked him to come back for a stress ultrasound test which uses high frequency sound waves to examine the hearts anatomy and function. "Thats where they found it," he said. Struve was diagnosed with a leaking aortic valve, as well an enlarged heart. It meant that his heart was only pumping 60 per cent of his blood into the aorta and then the rest of his body. The remaining 40 per cent was ending up back in the heart chamber. Doctors used medication to control his blood pressure and the demands on his heart. Struve says he will probably have to undergo surgery at some point but hopes to do it after his fighting career. "As it is right now, its getting better every day," he said. He kept training throughout, raising his regimen as his health improved. He also taught MMA, which he said he enjoyed immensely. "I just enjoy being healthy and living a good life," he said. "I love this sport." MMA takes a toll, however. While Struve puts on exciting fights, he has endured punishing knockouts losses at the hands of Junior Dos Santos, Roy (Big Country) Nelson, Travis Browne and Hunt. The big Dutchman says he feels a lot more energy these days. "And a lot more joy in life, if you want to say so, because if you feel tied all day long, youre just miserable." But Struve says he may have taken time off from fighting even if it hadnt had the heart scare. He had plenty on his mind. "This was by far the hardest year of my life," he added. "Not only because of this but my father passed away in October after being sick for a year and a half. And then there were some other things that happened close to me that really impacted me." Back training, his performance in the gym gives him confidence that ring rust wont be an issue Saturday night. While Struve says he has got on well with Mitrione in the past, he says its a "little strange" the American asked for the fight before he was cleared to compete again. Despite offers from several teams, Atkinson ultimately signed with the team he was always destined to join, following his famous fathers footsteps to the Oakland Raiders. Now more than a quarter century after George Atkinson Jr. terrorized Lynn Swann and dozens of other NFL wide receivers as a hard-hitting safety with the Raiders, his son is trying to make the team as a backup running back and special teams contributor. "I had to turn a lot of teams down," the younger Atkinson said. "Right out of the gate, they were like, Dont go to the Raiders. I know you want to follow your heart but, weve got a spot for you here. But I know without a doubt this is the spot for me." Father and son knew this was a distinct possibility as the fifth round of the draft ended and no team had called. With two rounds remaining, they believed it might be better if the younger Atkinson wasnt drafted so he could make sure he could sign with the Raiders. While some sons might prefer to blaze their own trail in an organization with no connection to their father, the younger Atkinson had been waiting to put on a Raiders uniform ever since he was a kid. "Ive looked up to this organization and this club for a long time and there was no part of that going on with me," he said. "Ive looked up to my dad and wanted to follow in his footsteps but also lead my own trail at the same time. Youve got to find that balance and thats what Im trying to do right now." The elder Atkinson is a beloved member of the organization for his hard-hitting play that epitomized Oaklands style of play in the 1970s. He had 30 career interceptions and helped Oakland win its first Super Bowl following the 1976 season. He was most famous for his hits on Swann, which led former Steelers coacch Chuck Noll to refer to him as part of the "criminal element" in football. Omar Infante Jersey. He is now a broadcaster for the team but made a point of staying away from rookie minicamp last weekend. "He doesnt need that added pressure," the elder Atkinson said. "Hes learning a new game altogether. The pro ranks are a little bit different from high school and college. He needs time to focus on getting adjusted to the NFL. I dont need to be around. Its his time. I dont want to be a distraction to him and the team." The opportunity to play with the Raiders took out much of the sting of going undrafted after skipping his senior season at Notre Dame. In three years in college, the younger Atkinson rushed for 943 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also returned two kickoffs for scores as a freshman. "Its not all about how you come in, but how you leave," he said. "How you set your mark here in the league. You still have to make a team, drafted or undrafted." Atkinson is part of a crowded group of running backs that includes free-agent acquisition Maurice Jones-Drew, returning starter Darren McFadden and last years sixth-round pick, Latavius Murray. But Oakland is searching for a returner and Atkinson III brings one attribute none of the other players competing for a roster spot have. "I think hes a talented athlete and hes got a lot of speed," coach Dennis Allen said. "He has the ability to help us on special teams also. So, I think anytime a chance to get a legacy, somebody who has the Raider blood lines, ... those guys understand what it means to be a Raider. We were pleased that we were able to bring him in here." NOTES: The Raiders signed seventh-round S Jonathan Dowling and CB T.J. Carrie to four-year contracts. ... Oakland also signed free agent DE Denico Autry and waived DT David Carter. ___ AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

SOCHI, Russia -- Age is just a number for Canadian Paralympian Mac Marcoux. David West Spurs Jersey . The 16-year-old from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and guide Robin Femy from Mont Tremblant, Que., captured gold in mens giant slalom at the Sochi Paralympics on Saturday, adding to the two bronze medals he claimed earlier in the Games. Marcoux -- the youngest member of Canadas Paralympic team -- led from start to finish in the mens visually impaired category, dominating in their first of two runs and easily maintaining their lead in the second run. "Its so awesome. Its still setting in. Ive never been so excited after a race," said Marcoux, who won with a two-run combined time of two minutes, 29.62 seconds. "When we crossed the finish line and Rob told me we won, my heart stopped for a second. I crashed into him and just couldnt speak. "All of what has happened at Sochi has exceeded my expectations. I never thought I would win a medal, let alone three." Marcoux and Femy only began skiing together two weeks ago when Marcouxs regular guide and older brother, BJ Marcoux, injured his back. Marcoux and Femy put any doubts of their fledgling partnership to rest early in the Games by winning bronze in downhill and super-G -- even winning their super-G medal with a broken radio headset and no communication. Immediately following Saturdays giant slalom, BJ, who has been by his brothers side all week, ran to Marcoux and the two embraced in a teary hug. "That was a pretty emotional hug. We both broke down a little bit," Marcoux said. "Weve been through everything together since we first started skiing together eight years ago and he has been the most supportive person. This is as much his medal as it is mine." As youngster Marcoux wraps up his first Paralympics with three medals, veteran Chris Williamson, from Toronto, skied in his final Paralympic race on Saturday. Williamson, who won bronze in the mens slalom on Thursday, said he feels like he is passing the torch to Marcoux. "I have a huge mix of emotions here at my last Paralympics, but Im so pleased to have a medal and its pretty clear that visually impaired skiing in Canada is in good hands with Mac!" said Williamson, who finished fifth (2:37.57). Jakub Krako of Slovakia (2:31.66) won the silver medal in the mens visually impaired category, and Russias Valerii Redkozubov earned bronze (2:33.57). Canadas mens sit-skiers didnt fare well in the giant slalom, with Josh Dueck, of Kimberley, B.C., Caleb Brousseau, from Terrace, B.C., and Calgarys Kurt Oatway all not finishing their first runs. Standing skier Kirk Schornstein, of Spruce Grove, Alta. finished 13th (2:40.97). Also at the Paralympics, Canadas national sledge hockey team won bronze, defeating Norway 3-0 in Saturdays bronze medal game at Shayba Arena. The medal is Canadas fourth all-time at the Paralympics; it won gold in 2006 in Torino, Italy, silver in 1998 in Nagano, Japan, and bronze in 1994 in Lillehammer, Norway, in addition to this years third-place finish. Billy Bridges of Summerside, P.E.I., scored twice to lead the Canadian offence, while Brad Bowden of Orton, Ont., added the other goal as Canada found the back of the net three times in 6:12 early in the second period to break open a scoreless game. Bowden finished with a goal and two assists, and Corbin Watson of Kingsville, Ont., made 10 saves for his third shutout in four games. Canada defeated China 5-4 in the semifinals and then went on to defeat Russia 8-3 in the final match to win the gold medal. In the 4x2.5-kilometre mixed para-Nordic skiing relay, Quebec Citys Sebastien Fortier, Robbi Weldon of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Ottawas Margarita Gorbounova did not finish. In the 4x2.5-kilometre open relay, Chris Klebl of Canmore, Alta., along with Brian McKeever, also from Canmore, and his guides of Erik Carleton, from Canmore, and Whitehorses Graham Nishikawa placed fourth in the open 4x2.5-kilometre relay with a time of 25:51.9. McKeever and company will look to win their third gold medal of the week on Sunday when they hit the start line for the final Nordic race of the 2014 Games. David West Jersey . The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has overturned a Russian runners two-year doping suspension because her sample was retested beyond the eight-year statute of limitations. Gareon Conley Womens Jersey . The ruling means Tatyana Andrianova will be able to keep the bronze medal she won in the 800 metres at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.Andrianovas initial sample was deemed clean but when it was re-tested last year, it showed traces of the banned steroid stanozolol and she was given a two-year suspension by the Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF).Adrianovas results from 2005 to 2007, including her bronze medal, were also annulled. The IAAF felt it could act based on a 2015 ruling that increased the statute to 10 years from eight, but the 36-year-old appealed against the ban and CAS ruled in her favour. As the eight-year statute of limitations had expired prior to January 1 2015, the 10-year statute of limitations provided under the new 2015 anti-doping rules cannot apply, CAS said in a statement. Stanton agreed to terms with the team Monday on a $325 million, 13-year contract, Miami owner Jeffrey Loria said. Its the most lucrative deal for an American athlete and averages $25 million per season, or $154,321 per game. The deal includes a no-trade clause, and Stanton can opt out after six years, Loria said. A news conference was planned Wednesday. Its a landmark moment for the franchise and Giancarlo, and its for the city and fans to rally around, Loria said. Any kind of multiyear deal is a big departure for the Marlins and Loria, whose frugal ways in the past alienated fans, angered the players union and made the franchise the butt of jokes. Given such thriftiness, the Marlins generosity toward Stanton becomes even more stunning. His contract tops the $292 million, 10-year deal Miguel Cabrera agreed to with the Detroit Tigers in March. Alex Rodriguez signed the largest previous deal, a $275 million, 10-year contract with the Yankees before the 2008 season. Stanton, who turned 25 on Nov. 8, is perhaps the games most feared slugger. He has 154 career homers despite playing home games in spacious Marlins Park. Giancarlo Stanton has come of age, and hes going to be here a long time, Loria said in a phone interview. Its wonderful to have a young man this calibre, integrity and ability, and Im very happy. Stanton wasnt due to become eligible for free agency until after the 2016 season, and signing him to a long-term deal was considered a long shot for the Marlins. They havent reached the playoffs since 2003, and he was distrustful of the franchises direction. Eddie Vanderdoes Raiders Jersey. The Marlins 2014 payroll of $52.3 million was the lowest in the majors. The last time they spent big was before the 2012 season, the first in their new ballpark. Then came another salary purge, intensifying fan animosity toward Loria. The owner hopes that will start to subside with the Stanton deal. Stantons 2014 season ended Sept. 11 when he was hit in the face by a pitch. Despite missing the final 17 games, he led the NL with 37 homers and a .555 slugging percentage for the Marlins, who went 77-85 but ended a three-year streak of last-place finishes in the NL East. The Marlins have said theyre not concerned the injuries will have lingering effects. They made locking up Stanton their top off-season priority and overcame his skepticism about their efforts to fielding a winning team. The Marlins believe theyre poised to contend next year with a young roster than includes right-handers Jose Fernandez and Henderson Alvarez, Gold Glove left fielder Christian Yelich, centre fielder Marcell Ozuna and shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria. Stanton made a team-high $6.5 million in 2014. The two-time All-Star right fielder recently won the NL Hank Aaron Award and was voted the NLs outstanding player in balloting by his fellow major leaguers. He won a Silver Slugger Award and finished second to Clayton Kershaw in NL MVP voting. Stanton likes to travel in the off-season and spend time in his native California. But he attended the Miami Hurricanes home football game Saturday against Florida State, and now hell be staying in town for a new conference. The Miami Heat will hang a third NBA championship banner, and second in a row, when they kick off their title defense tonight against the Chicago Bulls. Christian McCaffrey Panthers Jersey . Commissioner David Stern will be on hand to dole out some fancy jewelry. The Heat players will receive the championship rings pre-game as Miami will begin its quest for a third consecutive title. Listen to the game live on TSN Radio 1050 starting at 8pm et. "Its an exciting time for us, for our fans, for our franchise," two-time reigning MVP LeBron James said after practice on Monday. "But, we cant prepare for it." And what about the fact that the Heat get their rings and banner ceremony, on opening night, at AmericanAirlines Arena, and against the Bulls, a team several pundits picked to usurp the Heat in the Eastern Conference? "It didnt matter who it was," said James, ever the diplomat. "But, we like the fact that it is the Bulls. It makes us stay on our toes. Its exciting. Its great for the league." Its definitely great for the NBA, pitting arguably the two best teams against each other on opening night. Its also great that James will battle Derrick Rose, the former MVP, who missed all of last season when he tore his ACL in the playoffs in 2012. Rose took his fair share of criticism for sitting the entire season, despite the Bulls announcing he was medically cleared to play. Rose didnt feel ready, but he does now and has had this day circled on his calendar. "Its just going to be an emotional day," Rose said back in September about this night. "Just playing again and being around my teammates and being in the atmosphere of an arena, playing in front of people...I havent had that in a long time." Roses return should propel a Bulls team that lost to the Heat in the Eastern Conference semifinals last season. Chicago knocked off the Brooklyn Nets in Game 7 at the Barclays Center last season, but Miami then dispatched the Bulls in five games. That was all without Rose. The two seasons prior to last, the Bulls were the No. 1 seed in the East. Rose won the MVP in 2011 and Tom Thibodeau was named Coach of the Year. Yet, the Bulls never made it past the Heat. This season, the Bulls still boast an incredible defense (third last season in points allowed), a great starting unit with former All-Stars Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng alongside Rose and Jimmy Butler, who emerged in the postseason. But, all roads to championship banners run through Miami. James is the best player by miles and is the odds-on favorite for a fifth MVP. At 28, James is still in the prime of his career, although this season might be taxing at times. He can opt out of his contract with the Heat and become a free agent, but James doesnt want to discuss that during the season. (Good luck.) Dwyane Wade had an awesome regular season last season and an awful playoff run. Same goes for Chris Bosh. Both can also vacate their contracts, but both should be much improved from their disastrous postseason performances. The biggest additions in Miami this offseason came in the form of Greg Oden and Michael Beasley. They went first and second in the 2007 and 2008 NBA drafts, respectively. Odens career seemingly ended due to bad knees and Beasleys looked to be over thanks to poor decisions, but the Heat are giving them a chance. The two teams have been evenly matched the last seasons, going 4-4 against each other. Chicago did win in Miami on Jan. 4 and the two sides wont meet again until Dec. 5 in the Windy City. Taylor Moton Panthers Jersey . Top-seeded Djokovic swept to a 6-1, 6-3 win over 51st-ranked Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain in just 57 minutes, but fourth-seeded Federer had to see off a serious challenge from 48th-ranked Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic before coming through 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3. With the league and CFL Players Association putting forth a tentative collective bargaining agreement over the weekend, new Bombers head coach Mike OShea will be focused on matters on the field - starting with all four of his import quarterbacks getting a chance to play tonight. Max Hall came in last season as a CFL rookie and ended the season as the starter for the struggling Bombers. He was passed over for the No. 1 spot this season in favour of Drew Willy, but was the only quarterback invited to return to camp after the Bombers finished 3-15 last year. Hall will get another good look at camp, along with Brian Brohm and Robert Marve. Taylor Moton Jersey. "I feel good, I had a whole season this time to get ready," said Hall. "I feel strong, I feel healthy, I feel like I understand whats going on in the offence. Im excited this year." For the Argonauts, quarterback Ricky Ray did not make the trip to Winnipeg so Trevor Harris, Mitchell Gale and rookie Casey Paschall should all get a chance to impress the coaching staff as they vie for the backup role this season. With Chad Kackert retiring, University of Manitoba running back Anthony Coombs hopes to take advantage of familiar surroundings as he battles for a job in the backfield with second-year player Curtis Steele and five others. "Its wide open," said Argonauts head coach Scott Milanovich last week. "Curtis has an advantage because hes been here and been in the offence but it could be any of those guys at this point." The Miami Heat will hang a third NBA championship banner, and second in a row, when they kick off their title defense tonight against the Chicago Bulls. Matias Laba is headed to the Vancouver Whitecaps. Tomas Hertl Jersey . After reports emerged on Tuesday that the Toronto FC midfielder would head to Vancouver on loan, the team confirmed on Wednesday that they had, in fact, traded for the Argentine designated player. Toronto will receive future considerations. Laba came to Toronto last season from Argentinos Juniors and started all 16 of his appearances with the club last term. With the acquisitions of a trio of designated players this offseason in Brazilian striker Gilberto, American international midfielder Michael Bradly and striker Jermain Defoe of Tottenham, TFC had one more designated player than the three allowed by Major League Soccer rules and Laba was the odd man out. Whitecaps manager Carl Robinson, a former TFC midfielder himself, believes that Laba can help the Vancouver midfield immediately. "Matias is a promising young talent and we are excited to have him join our club," said Robinson in a statement. "He is a hard, aggressive player who brings a lot of energy to the pitch and although he is only 22, he is a natural leader on the field." ANN ARBOR, Mich. Cameron Sutton Jersey . -- Nik Stauskas and Glenn Robinson III are skipping their last two seasons at Michigan to enter the NBA draft and chase a dream theyve had since they were kids. Stauskas, who is from Mississauga, Ontario, set his sights on joining in the worlds best basketball league when he started playing the game in an organized way at the age of 7. "From that point on, I pretty much committed myself to doing whatever it took to get to this point," he said. "I dont think many Canadian kids had that same dream. I think most of them were trying to go to the NHL, but I think the rise of Canadian basketball has been unbelievable. You see a lot of kids now making that jump from Canada and Im glad to be a part of that group." Robinson, meanwhile, might have looked at the league a little earlier because his father -- nicknamed "Big Dog" -- was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1994 NBA draft. "My dad has been through this whole process, so that was definitely a big help," he said. "He stayed an extra year in college when he thought he wasnt ready." Robinson, who is from St. John, Ind., said the NBAs undergraduate advisory committee informed him he would be a first-round pick if he entered the draft and he chose to make the leap Monday night. Stauskas wouldnt say what he was told, but he obviously liked the feedback. "I heard from the advisory board in the middle of last week, a couple days after that I really decided," he said. "The information I got from them was kind of what I wanted to hear." Mitch McGary has not announced his future plans. "Mitch is still gathering information," coach John Beilein said. "He has all the way until the 27th to make a decision, so hes looking at all the possibilities right now." McGary was not made available for interviews after his teammates had a news conference. He turned down a chance to enter the draft last year as a likely first-round pick and ended up having back surgery last season, putting his standing as an NBA prospect in doubt. The Wolverines lost Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway to the NBA last year as underclassmen, but retooled well enough to win the Big Ten title and advance to an NCAA tournament regional final. Stauskas said hes confident Michigan is strong enough to keep winning next season. "I think were leaving this program in great hands," Stauskas said as he looked toward his former teammates, who gathered to show their support for him and Robinson at their news conference. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard became one of the nations most well-rounded offensive players, averaging 17.5 points and improving defensively and earning Big Ten player of the year honours last season. The 6-6 Robinson came on strong toward the end of the season and finished with a 13.1 point average. The pressure will now be on improving guard Caris LeVert to have another big season for Michigan next season. Derrick Walton and Zak Irvin -- who both had their share of impressive moments as freshmen -- will also have a chance to take on more leadership. The Wolverines also will lose fifth-year senior Jordan Morgan, and Jon Horford is transferring. Early departures have become the norm at Michigan now that the program has become a Big Ten power again. After going without a regular-season conference title since 1986, the Wolverines tied for first in 2012 and went on to reach the NCAA finals. Thanks in part to Stauskas and Robinson, Michigan won a school-record 59 games over the last two seasons and lost just 17 times. T. J. Watt Youth Jersey . He was attracted by the punishing defence, the strong running game and a coaching staff he trusted. The Catalans entered the contest in poor form after dropping back-to-back matches in league play to slip from their perch atop the table, and things appeared to heading further south after Thievy Bifouma handed Almeria a 37th- minute lead by slotting a shot past Claudio Bravo on the counter. The hosts held the advantage until the 73rd minute when Neymar got on the end of Luis Suarezs square pass and tucked home the equalizer with a nifty finish. Barcelona ultimately found a winner eight minutes from time and it was Suarez again playing the role of the architect. The Uruguayan delivered an inch- perfect cross to the back post where Jordi Alba was arriving to guide the pass into the back of the net with a first-time finish. It wasnt a vintage Barcelona performance, but it was enough for the fableed club to stop the rot and climb to 25 points on the season. T. J. Watt Steelers Jersey. The Catalans climb to second place in the table after Real Madrid cruised to a 5-1 demolition of Rayo Vallecano at the Bernabeu later on Saturday. Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos put the hosts in good stead with first-half goals, though Alberto Bueno managed to pull one back for Rayo before the intermission. The second half, though, belonged to Madrid as Toni Kroos, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo notched a goal apiece to put the club back atop the table on 27 points. Malaga claimed a 2-1 home win over Eibar on Saturday to improve to 21 points on the season. The visitors took the lead through Mikel Arruabarrenas opener in the 42nd minute, but Juanmi leveled the score in the 53rd before a 90th-minute penalty from Nordin Amrabat handed Malaga the vital victory. Also on Saturday, Celta Vigo was held to a 0-0 home draw by Granada while Elche claimed a point from a 0-0 draw at Getafe. TSN Baseball Insider Steve Phillips answers several questions each week. Duke Riley Jersey . This week, topics include fallout from Marcus Stroman throwing at Caleb Joseph, whos primed to bounce back in the AL East in 2015, the Los Angeles Angels emerging as American League favourites and Derek Jeters exit from the game. 1. Did Torontos Marcus Stroman have to throw at Caleb Joseph on Monday after it appeared Jose Reyes overreacted to the play at the plate? And why would he appeal the decision now, when youre out of the race, rather than just get it over with before next year? It is so hard being a major league pitcher, sometimes. Those darn unwritten rules can bite you in the behind. Nobody has to say anything - you just know. When one of your stars has a beef with the other team and he has been attacked, it is up to the pitcher to show he is a good teammate. The way a pitcher shows he is a good teammate is to throw at the individual player involved in the beef or the other teams star. When Jose Reyes believed he was intentionally stomped on when sliding in to the plate, Orioles catcher, Caleb Joseph, suddenly had a target on his back. Fortunately, Marcus Stroman missed his target and the pitch soared past the head of Joseph. That is a no-no. Pitchers should never throw at an opponents head. A beaning can end someones career or even kill them. Based upon the circumstances, I understand why the umpires and Commissioner Bud Selig believe the pitch was intentional and why he was suspended. When there is a bad blood, the primary participants are the focus of the umpires attention and protection. Stroman has remained steadfast in his claim that there was no intent in the pitch that almost domed Joseph. He is appealing because he truly didnt mean to throw at Joseph. It makes no sense otherwise. If he intended to do it, he should just accept the respect of his teammates and his punishment. Missing six games when you have already been eliminated is painless. If you do the crime, you have to serve the time. He will lose his appeal and sit for six games sooner or later. 2. Aside from Baltimore, the entire AL East underperformed this year. Who among the Blue Jays, Yankees, Red Sox and Rays is best suited to turn it around in 2015? This has been a down year for the AL East. It has long been the best division in basebal,l but not this season. Over the years, the spending and success of the Yankees and Red Sox caused every other AL team, particularly in the AL East, to spend more and add power. For almost two decades, everyone in the AL chased the Yankees and Red Sox. The last time the Yanks and Sox both missed the playoffs in the same season was 1993. The Rays, before this season, have had nice run of competitiveness for a small market team and the Jays have the power bats to slug with anyone. Every team has flaws of some sort. Teams that make the playoffs tend to have fewer flaws or they have enough impact in some areas of the game to compensate for their weakness in another. Of the four AL East non-playoff teams the one with the best chance to sit on top next year is very difficult to predict. It will take good general managing to fix all of these teams. The Rays are going to depend upon the growth and development of their young players. They are hoping for a healthy season for key players like Matt Moore, Wil Myers and Desmond Jennings. They wont have money to spend in the free agent market, so they have to hope Joe Maddon can rebuild the young roster into a competitive one. The Red Sox started the reconstruction process early. The Jon Lester and John Lackey trades brought them Yoenis Cespedes and Allen Craig that immediately improved an offence that lacked punch from the right side. But by trading Lackey, Lester and Jake Peavy, they left themselves with huge holes in a rotation that already wasnt good enough. I expect the Sox to be players in the free agent market for Lester, Max Scherzer and James Shields for sure. The Yankees need an overhaul. Joe Girardi gets as much out of his roster as any manager. The reality is that the Yanks need offence, defence and pitching. They will have gaping holes at second base and shortstop, as well as an aging Mark Teixeira and a returning Alex Rodriguez to third base. The pitching staff has fallen off significantly, as CC Sabbathia is half the pitcher he used to be and Masahiro Tanakas great first half and career is now clouded by a tear in his elbow. The Yanks have money to spend, but too many holes to solve all their needs in one off-season. That leaves the Jays. The Jays are in their window to win. They have a first-place offence and some first-place pitchers. They need an ace, though. They need the guy who will keep them out of the losing streak because he is the stopper. He wins after a loss. That pitcher will cost money and lots of it. It seems remote that the Jays will be big spenders in the free agent market, but if they get an ace they have a legitimate chance to win the division. So, here are my predictions for next year. The team that is closest to being the team to beat next year is the Jays. They have balance and depth in every component of the game, except starting pitching. The Red Sox and Yankees need starters too but they both have other significant offensive needs as well. The one advantage that the Yanks and Sox have is that they have money to get what they need. The Jays most likely do not have money to spend. The Rays will be competitive, but they dont have enough offence to support their good young arms. 3. Since June 6, the Los Angeles Angels have been on fire, posting a 63-29 record (.684 winning percentage) and have skyrocketed to an 11-1/2 game lead in the AL West over the Oakland Athletics. Their overall record of 95-57 is the best in the majors as well. Are the Angels the favourites to win the World Series this year or are they a team who has a lot of success in the regular season and then falters in the playoffs? The Angels had huge expectations in 2012 after signing Albert Pujols. They had even bigger expectations last year when they added Josh Hamilton. But both years, they were dismal failures. This season has been absolutely remarkable. The Angels are playing Angels baseball again. They are fundamentally sound. They take the extra bases. The Angels are the best at going first to third on a single. They score from first on doubles. They are a solid defensive team. They make plays. They have pitched better than expected. I knew Jared Weaver and CJ Wilson would be high quality starters, but there were real questions about the rest of the rotation. Garrett Richards took advantage of the opportunity that he finally got and became the ace of the staff. When Richards went down to injury, Matt Shoemaker emerged and rounded out the rotation. In fact, after the loss of Richards, the Angels played even better than they had already been playing. Mike Scioscia reconfigured and developed his bullpen on the fly during the season and he is one of the best at managing the bullpen. Offensively, the Angels are the highest scoring offence in the AL. They have the AL MVP in Mike Trout and a former MVP in Pujols. They have gotten significant contributions from veteran middle infielders Howie Kendrick and Erick Aybar, as well. Sciosca has done a nice job blending in some young players, as well. Youngsters, CJ Cron and Kole Calhoun are important to their line-up as they add length, depth and power. They clearly have a potent offence. The Angels will end up with the best record in the AL and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. That is certainly a big leg up, as they have the best home record in all of baseball. But I do have a concern about the Angels: starting pitching depth. Without Richards and, possibly, his replacement Shoemaker (strained oblique,) Games 3 and 4 of the playoff series will put them at a disadvantage. I believe the Angels will get to the ALCS and lose to the Detroit Tigers. 4. The Blue Jays lost to the Yankees last night 3-2. Both teams are still mathematically alive for a wild card spot, but the odds are remote that either will get there. So, effectively, both teams are just playing out the string. In Thursday nights one-run win, the Yankees got a solo home run from Derek Jeter. In and of itself, not a huge deal, since he has hit 260 in his career, but it does exemplify Jeters career. This is the final road trip of the Jays season or, more appropriately, the final homestand of Derek Jeters career. It is only fitting that he gives Yankee fans something to cheer for. On Wednesday in Tampa, Jeter broke an 0-for-28 slump just in time for his return to New York. He cant finish his final season in pinstripes in a funk. Jeter always seems to get it right and his finishing his career in a flurry sure feels right. Everywhere New York teams go, they are despised by the opposition. They have been the villains in baseball for decades. They win too much or they spend too much or they are too smug or they are just from New York, etc. People found reasons to hate them. Yet the face of baseball has been Derek Jeter over the last two decades. He has endured and been bigger than every distraction. He is bigger than the game. Jeters on-field performance has been remarkable. He has the most hits ever by a Yankee - more than Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle. In fact, he has more hits (3,453) than all but five players in the history of the game. He has won five World Series championships. He was the AL Rookie of the Year, All-Star Game MVP and World Series MVP. He won the Gold Glove five times and was second in MVP balloting in 2006. Once can make the argument that he was the best shortstop ever. Even for those unwilling to give him that moniker, he is in the top five all-time. He is and always will be a legend in Yankee lore. But Jeters most significant accomplishment is that he has been respected by every teammate and opponent he has ever known. Jeter always did the right thing. He respected the game. He respected umpires and teammates. He respected his closest competitors. He never got caught up in his own hype. He never took the bait to respond inappropriately to any situation. He maintained a respectful and friendly relationship with the media. He has done everything right. There are no perfect people, let alone baseball players, but Jeters career has been perfect. He couldnt have played better. He couldnt have represented the Yankees or the game of baseball better. He is simply amazing. In this day and age of social networking, with Twitter and cameras on phones and all of the other ways that we invade each others privacy, he has never had a misstep. He is always classy and appropriate. He is grateful for what he has and has never taken any aspect of being a big leaguer for granted. Jeter has dated some of the biggest stars and models, yet never a scandal. He treats women with he same respect he treats everyone else. It is not only Yankee fans that will miss Derek Jeter - it is all baseball fans. I will be at Jeters last home game at Yankee Stadium on Thursday, September 25. I for one will stand and applaud to show my respect and gratitude for how he played and his success. I will mostly be standing, though, out of gratitude for his representing the game I love with class and dignity. I applaud him for being a role model for so many young kids. We all wish our kids could grow up and be just like him. So please join me in saying, “Thank you, Derek for 20 great seasons. You broke our hearts many times, but we never held it against you because you beat us with grace, class and dignity.” Oh, and by the way, “Good riddance!! Maybe we can win a championship now, too.” Takkarist McKinley Womens Jersey . With nothing tangible at stake, the Raptors turned in their most impressive outing of the fall in their seventh and second to last exhibition tilt against their stiffest competition yet, but they lost a couple starters in the process. Duke Riley Falcons Jersey . But defending champion Elena Vesnina of Russia held off a strong challenge to beat Shuai Peng of China 6-3, 6-4, and there was another hard-fought victory for 2012 runner-up Angelique Kerber of Germany, who defeated Alison Riske of the United States 7-6 (6), 6-4.TORONTO -- Blue Jays manager John Gibbons didnt hold his usual post-game availability with reporters after Toronto dropped a 5-3 decision to the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. His brief quote issued through a team spokesman said it all. "Skaggs was great -- he man-handled us," Gibbons said. It was the first time Los Angeles pitcher Tyler Skaggs had started against Toronto and he didnt allow the Blue Jays to find their rhythm. The 22-year-old left-hander gave up a run in the first inning and then retired 21 straight batters. Skaggs was pulled after giving up two singles in the ninth inning. The Blue Jays scored twice in the frame to make things interesting for the crowd of 31,412 at Rogers Centre. Toronto (18-19) brought the potential winning run to the plate but reliever Joe Smith got pinch-hitter Adam Lind to hit into a game-ending double play. Skaggs (3-1) gave up four hits and two earned runs over eight-plus innings of work. "He pitched one heck of a game for us, took us into the ninth inning," said Angels acting manager Dino Ebel. "Cant say enough about the kid today." Skaggs struck out four and didnt walk a batter. He threw 70 of his 103 pitches for strikes. "He was missing our barrel," said Jays catcher Erik Kratz. "He did a good job of mixing his speeds a little bit but attacking with his fastball. He had some good movement on his fastball that kept us (hitting) ground balls, popups, ground balls, popups. "Not a lot of hard hits today." Smith earned his fourth save of the season. C.J. Cron hit his first career home run and Chris Iannetta added a two-run shot for the Angels, who knocked Toronto starter J.A. Happ (1-1) out of the game in the third inning. "He just got hurt on a couple of balls in the middle of the plate or up," Kratz said. "He got behind in a few counts and they made him pay." Los Angeles (18-17) has won two straight over Toronto. The teams will continue the four-game series on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Jays opened the scoring in the first when slugger Jose Bautista reached base after Skaggs misplayed a comebacker. Edwin Encarnacion drove a double into the left-field corner that brought Bautista home. Howie Kendrick hit a ground-rule double off Happ in the second inning and came around on a single by Cron. Iaannetta made it a 3-1 game with his third homer of the season. Takkarist McKinley Youth Jersey. The Angels batted around in the frame and nearly broke the game wide open. Slugger Albert Pujols flew out to deep left field with the bases loaded for the final out. Happ didnt fare much better in the third. He gave up a solo shot to Cron and was replaced by Todd Redmond after an Iannetta single. "Obviously theyre a great-hitting ballclub," Happ said. "Weve got a lot of those in our division though too and throughout baseball. So you kind of put that out of your mind and try to pitch and try to execute. "It certainly was frustrating today not being as sharp as Id like." Skaggs, meanwhile, was in complete control. Steve Tolleson finally got to him with a two-out double in the eighth inning but Chris Getz grounded out to strand him at second base. Redmond did a nice job in long relief, allowing just one unearned run and five hits over 4 2-3 innings. Happ, meanwhile, allowed seven hits, four earned runs and a walk while striking out four. Jose Reyes started the Toronto rally in the ninth with an infield single and Melky Cabrera followed with a single up the middle. Bautista hit another single to drive in Reyes. Encarnacion hit a grounder that moved Cabrera to third but forced out Bautista at second base. Smith gave up another single to Dioner Navarro that brought Cabrera home. Lind followed by hitting a comebacker to Smith and the Angels turned the double play for the win. The game took two hours 46 minutes to play. WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have brought back Bob Wylie to help develop their offensive line. Adrian Dantley Jersey . Wylie was Winnipegs offensive line coach in 2007 and 2008 and most recently he coached the offensive line of the NFLs Oakland Raiders in 2011. Under Wylie, Oaklands offensive line improved from one of the worst in sacks given up to the top five in the NFL. Wylie spent the 2010 season coaching the offensive line with the Denver Broncos, and before returning to the NFL he spent the 2009 season coaching the Saskatchewan Roughriderss offensive line. Winnipeg head coach Mike OShea praised the veteran, who has coached for 20 professional seasons. "Bob is a great teacher of the game," OShea said Tuesday. "He has a long resume of coaching experience and we are thrilled to have him join our staff. His experience in all levels of football, on both sides of the border, is such a huge asset for us." The Bombers also added import offensive lineman Randy Richards and import linebacker Cyhl Quarles to their roster Tuesday. Richards is a six-foot-three, 303-pound offensive tackle who played two seasons at Missouri State University from 2011 to 2012. He went undrafted but had a tryout with the San Diego Chargers and was on Tampa Bays practice roster. Quarles, six-three and 212 pounds, played four seasons at Wake Forest University from 2008 to 2011. He attended the 2012 NFL Combine but went undrafted, signed a tryout contract with the Baltimore Ravens and was released in August 2012. Trey Lyles Jersey . Ryane Clowe also scored and the special teams tallied twice on the power play and once short-handed as the Devils opened the post-Olympic break with a much-needed win if it wants to make the playoffs after missing last season. Patrik Elias added a goal and two assists and Cory Schneider made 17 saves as New Jersey salvaged the final game of its four-game season series with Columbus (1-2-1). Artem Anisimov scored for the Blue Jackets and set up one by Marian Gaborik. The Devils, who had the NHLs second-fewest goals (135) before the break, tallied three times in the 2:45 span early in the first period against Sergei Bobrovsky in taking the lead for good. Clowe got the Devils going with a shot from the right circle on what seemingly was a three-for-one chance. Bobrovsky saved his first shot. The second was blocked and came back to Clowe, who tallied his fourth goal of the season on his third attempt. Special teams took over from there. With James Wisniewski off for interference, Bobrovsky made an outstanding stop on a rebound attempt by Jagr. The 42-year-old Czech got the rebound and stickhandled the puck around the prone goaltender and deposited into the net at 7:31. It was his 18th goal of the season and left him one shy of becoming the NHLs seventh member of the 700-goal club. Henrique pushed the lead to 3-0 at 8:54 by deflecting an Andy Greene point shot with Ryan Johansen off for hooking. Columbus coachh Todd Richards called a time out after the goal and it settled the Blue Jackets, who had been 12-5-1 since Jan. Joe Johnson Jazz Jersey. 1. Anisimov got the Blue Jackets on the board with a gift from Schneider. The Russian backhanded a shot from the right corner and Schneider lost his position on the corner of the net and allowed it to sneak in. Gaborik, who had missed Columbus last 22 games with a broken collarbone, cut the margin to 3-2 at 11:42 of the second period by knocking a puck out of the air and beating Schneider in close. The Blue Jackets had the better of the play the rest of the period and seemingly were in position to tie the game when Travis Zajac was penalized for hooking with 34 second left in the period. Columbus not only didnt tie, but it fell behind two goals. Defenceman Jack Johnson could not control the puck at the point and Elias floated an alley-oop pass over his stick to Henrique. He skated in on Bobrovsky and beat him between the pads for his 16th goal of the season. Elias scored into an empty net in the final minute. NOTES: The Devils, who were 0 for 12 on the power play in their last four games before the break, scored on their first two power plays. The Blue Jackets had killed off 23 straight penalties in their final five games before the break. ... The three-goal period was only the sixth of the season for New Jersey, one goal shy of its season high against Carolina in November. ... Maui, HI (SportsNetwork. Jayson Tatum Celtics Jersey .com) - Russell Henley fired an 8-under 65 on Friday as he grabbed a 1-stroke lead after the opening round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Henley won The Honda Classic in 2014 to earn his spot in the winners-only field. He birdied five of the first seven holes and carded eight birdies in a bogey-free round on the Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort. The 25-year-old played this event last year after winning the 2013 Sony Open in Hawaii. Henley failed to break 70 and he finished in 27th place last year. Sang-Moon Bae is one stroke back at minus-7. Jimmy Walker, a three-time winner last season, carded a 6-under 67. He was joined in third place by Patrick Reed, Scott Stallings, Ben Martin and Robert Streb. One of the teams four picks in the sixth round of this years draft, Rivera had gone mostly unnoticed through the Raiders first nine games before catching a season-high five passes, including a go-ahead 26-yard touchdown, in a 28-23 win over the Houston Texans. Rivera called it his moment of arrival in the NFL, though the 6-foot-3, 245-pound former Tennessee star is quick to acknowledge hes still in the infancy of his development. "You always want to make plays, thats what you come into the game to do," Rivera said Friday. "But you also have to realize those plays come in many ways. Those plays can come in a backside block, a touchdown pass. Those plays can also be just helping out the guy next to you and doing what you need to do. Thats what a real playmaker needs to do." Until last week, the Raiders hadnt gotten many plays at all out of their tight ends. A combination of things has played into it. Oaklands offensive line has been battered all season and has needed the extra blocking support from the tight ends. Oakland has also used three different starting quarterbacks this year. At his current pace, Rivera will finish with just 37 receptions -- fewer than half the total made in 2012 by then-Raiders tight end Brandon Myers. "I think Mychal Riveras done a nice job," Oakland coach Dennis Allen said. "He understands the passing game. Obviously, hes a rookie so he still makes mistake but every week Ive seen him continue to get better, so Im pleased with where hes at." Still, the drop-off in tight end production is a huge departure from what Oakland is used to getting from that position. Since 2006, tight ends have led the Raiders in receptions four times, including Myerrs who caught 79 passes last season before signing with the New York Giants as a free agent in the off-season. Jayson Tatum Youth Jersey. When Myers left, it created a void Oakland tried to fill by drafting Rivera and signing veteran Jeron Mastrud. Mastrud has started seven games this season but has been used primarily as a blocker while Rivera has caught 23 of the 32 passes thrown his way this season. "I just want to build every week," said Rivera, who has two touchdowns receptions. "Last game I had five catches. Im going to try to get seven catches this game. You always want to build on what you did last week, and I know I can do better than what I did last week. And next week Im going to be saying the same thing." Rivera might be needed a little bit more this week. Oakland will be without leading wide receiver Denarius Moore, who sat out his third straight practice with a shoulder injury. That leaves the Raiders with just one receiver who has caught more than 10 passes -- Rod Streater, who has 35 receptions. Without a full complement of receivers, facing a Tennessee team that is 10th in pass defence could be more of a challenge for McGloin. Thats where the tight ends may come into play, as a safety outlet for McGloin if plays break down. "Really it all depends on the scheme, the play call, who were playing," Rivera said. "Just like with anything, if coach wants to be pass heavy (with) a lot of routes, wed be able to do that. Whatever the scheme is I go with and do the best that I can." Notes: Quarterback Terrelle Pryor (knee) remains limited and is questionable. ... Injured running back Darren McFadden, defensive end Jason Hunter and safety Tyvon Branch have all been declared out. ... WR Andre Holmes, who missed the first four games of the season serving an NFL suspension for PEDs, will start in Moores absence. LeBron James & Co. were back in business in a big way. James had 21 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds to help the Miami Heat snap a three-game skid and beat the Philadelphia 76ers 101-86 on Friday night. "It was great to see our energy from the beginning, basically, to the end," James said. "Thats what we are. We cant be nobody else. Weve got to be us." Being themselves has worked out fine for the Heat. The two-time defending NBA champions avoided their first four-game losing streak since March 2011. The Heat had dropped games at New York, Brooklyn and Washington. They had no trouble in their second game against the Sixers. They led by 25 and atoned for a 114-110 loss to Philadelphia in October. Chris Bosh scored 25 points and Norris Cole and Shane Battier had 13 points. "We didnt do everything perfect," coach Eric Spoelstra said. He could have fooled the Sixers. Tony Wroten led Philadelphia with 13 points and Spencer Hawes had 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Sixers missed 18 of 20 3-pointers and had 23 turnovers. James was stretched, twisted and massaged in the locker room, headphones on, and glued to the Sixers recent win over Charlotte on the big screen. About an hour before tip, he hardly seemed concerned the losing streak would hit four. "Its a long season, man," he said. "Every now and then, you just need to refocus." They found moments of clarity against the Sixers. At one point, Philadelphia used a lineup of Wroten, Dewayne Dedmon, Hollis Thompson, Brandon Davies and Elliot Williams. That rotation wont win too many games. It never stood a chance against the Heat. Back in October, the Sixers made their first 11 shots and raced to leads of 19-0 and 26-4, putting the champs on their heels a night after they received their rings. "It seems 1,000 years ago," Sixers coach Brett Brown. It was also the highlight of a season that has the Sixers tumbling toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference -- which has been the plan all along as the franchise tries to gobble lottery picks and rebuild. Its why Brown has a four-year contract and a promise of patience from ownership. But that win against the Heat still danced in their heads until tip. "They were able to beat an NBA champion and you cant take it away from them," Brown said. No, but they sure couldnt do it again. The Heat scored 17 seconds into the game, raced to a 12-point lead in the first quarterr and never looked back. Aaron Hill Brewers Jersey. James brought what had to be about 10,000 Heat fans to their feet with a rim-rattling dunk in transition. Bosh scored 15 in the first half and Battier hit three 3s. The Sixers? Well, they missed 12 of 13 3-point attempts in the first half and committed 10 turnovers. They never led. They rested their starters and played all subs in the fourth. "They earned the right to keep trying to make a push for it," Hawes said. James crushed Davies in a 1-on-1 mismatch late in the fourth, burying a string of mid-range jumpers to stretch the lead to 20. Bosh-to-James for the alley-oop made it 96-79. His left shoulder was heavily wrapped in ice after the game to nurse a hard hit suffered against the Wizards. James posted a collage of photos on his Instagram account as part of a birthday tribute to his friend and teammate. "Happy Bday to my running mate, homie, brother, and most of all straight up friend!" James wrote. "The friendship weve created our rookie year at pre draft camp was pure and thats why we stuck together from that point on! Obviously didnt know we would eventually become teammates and do the things weve done so far. I came to Miami for 2 reasons. To play with U and to win championships and I cant thank u enough for the sacrifice youve made since I arrived homie! No matter what happens in the future we stuck together like brothers for life." James, who can become a free agent again this summer, was amused that his message was interpreted by some that he may leave Miami. The Montreal Canadiens and Minnesota Wild both took advantage of home-ice. Alex Avila White Sox Jersey . Notes on P.K. Subban, Dale Weise, Erik Haula, Mikael Granlund, Ilya Bryzgalov and more. HABS HOME COOKING Returning home for Game Three of their series against the Boston Bruins, the Montreal Canadiens delivered their best game of the series and took a 4-2 decision, gaining a 2-1 lead in the series. As he has been throughout the postseason, Canadiens D P.K. Subban was front-and-centre for the Habs. He had a goal and an assist, giving him 11 points (3 G, 8 A) in seven games this playoff. He has 27 points in 33 career playoff games and his 0.82 points per game in the playoffs is the best among defencemen to have played at least 30 playoff games since 2000. Subban also played a game-high 27:50, bumping his postseason average to 27:34 per game, most among Eastern Conference skaters still alive in the second round. Montreal got a goal and an assist from Dale Weise, giving him four points in seven playoff games and five goals in 24 (regular season plus playoff games) since he was acquired by Montreal. Lars Eller also contributed a goal and an assist, notching the empty-netter, giving him eight points in seven playoff games to lead Montreals forwards; quite a change in fortune for a player that had six points in his last 35 games of the regular season. Habs veteran defence pairing of Mike Weaver and Douglas Murray was dominated possession-wise, both on for less than 32% of 5-on-5 shot attempts but, to be at least a little bit fair, they also started nearly all of their shifts in the defensive zone. Rookie LW Michael Bournival, skating mostly with Tomas Plekanec and Thomas Vanek as the Canadiens shuffled lines, was the only Hab on for better than 60% of shot attempts for. Patrice Bergeron scored Bostons first goal and had another strong all-around game, generating a game-high 10 shot attempts. Montreals leaders in shot attempts were left wingers Rene Bourque and Max Pacioretty, with seven apiece. For a big rivalry game, the Canadiens took a very disciplined approach -- each team had just one power play -- and it removed some of the emotion from the proceedings, which worked for the Habs. They raced out to a 3-0 lead and, this time, held on to win. With another game in Montreal, suddenly there is some pressure on the favoured Bruins. WILD BACK IN THE SERIES The first couple period of Game Three between the Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Wild were snooze-worthy, with the two teams combining for 25 shots on goal in a scoreless affair. The Wild, though jumped on the Blackhawks with a couple of goals early in the third period, tacked on a couple more late and skated away with a 4-0 win, cutting the Blackhawks lead in the series to 2-1. Rookie Erik Haula scored the first goal for Minnesota, giving him five points (2 G, 3 A) in 10 playoff games. Haula scored 15 points in 46 games this season, but finished the year with seven points in the last seven games as he filled the second-line centre role for an injured Mikael Granlund. Speaking of Granlund, the second-year centre scored a pair goals, including the empty-netter. He missed time late in the year due to injury, but Granlund had 22 points in his last 24 regular season games and now has seven points (4 G, 3 A) in 10 playoff games. Wild G Ilya Bryzgalov stopped all 19 shots he faced for the shutout. It was Bryzgalovs first playoff shutout since 2006, but he still has an abysmal .860 save percentage in six playoff games this year. Unable to generate offence, the Blackhawks tried shuffling lines part way through the game, putting Patrick Kane with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp, while Marian Hossa skated with Bryan Bickell and Ben Smith, but to no avail; they couldnt beat Bryz. Blackhawks D Nick Leddy, a Minnesota native, was scratched, for Sheldon Brookbank. An interesting choice for coach Joel Quenneville, considering that Leddy has the teams best possession numbers in the playoffs. When a team like the Wild comes into a series as prohibitive underdogs, one way to reduce the advantage of a more skilled club is to reduce the number of shots and hope that increases the role that randomness can play in the proceedings. So far, the Blackhawks are averaging 21.0 shots per game (the Wild at 23.0) through three games, which is decidedly lower than the 33.1 shots per game that the Blackhawks averaged during the regular season and its probably the way it has to be if the Wild are going to build on their Game Three win. Four others were arrested in an early morning police sweep. Cremona prosecutor Roberto Di Martino, who has been leading the Last Bet operation for three years, told The Associated Press that Gattuso and retired Milan and Lazio player Cristian Brocchi were allegedly part of a ring that fixed Serie A and other Italian matches at the end of the 2010-11 season. "About 30 matches, a good part of them involving Serie A, are under investigation," Di Martino told the AP. The four people arrested were Salvatore Spadaro, Francesco Bazzani, Cosimo Rinci and Fabio Quadri. Each of them allegedly helped connect fixers to players, Di Martino said of the case that has seen more than 50 people arrested since mid-2011. Di Martino said a couple of the people arrested Tuesday met as recently as this year, suggesting matches continue to be fixed. "Were seeing clear facts that despite the arrests and investigations a good part of these people continue to do what they did before," Di Martino said later in a news conference, lamenting that past arrests have not made much of an impact. "There certainly were not big reactions in Italy, considering that things continue to go on like before," the prosecutor added. Gattuso and Brocchi face charges of criminal association with the aim of fraud and sports fraud, and had their homes searched. About 20 other people were also placed under investigation. "Gattuso and Brocchi were connected to the case by the use of phone taps," Di Martino said. Gattuso, who won two Champions League titles with Milan, was fired as Palermo coaach in September. Adam Dunn Jersey. Brocchi is currently coaching in AC Milans youth program. "I spoke to Rino and hes (stunned)," Gattusos agent Andrea DAmico told the ANSA news agency, using the former players nickname. "Right now its important not to draw any conclusions and rather wait and see why these names are coming out." Police said in a statement that the arrests were carried out in Milan, Bologna, Rimini and Messina. Other former and current players placed under investigation included Claudio Bellucci, Davide Bombardini, Leonardo Colucci, Lorenzo DAnna, Nicola Mingazzini, Claudio Terzi, Samuele Olivi and Fabrizio Grillo. The Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan matches against Lazio, Chievo Verona and Bari in February and March 2011 were under investigation, plus games involving Juventus and Inter Milan. Milan won its last Serie A title in 2011. The Last Bet operation has resulted in more than 100 people placed under investigation in Italy since mid-2011, with suspect matches being looked at by prosecutors in Cremona, Bari and Naples. The case has led to lengthy bans for former Lazio captains Giuseppe Signori and Stefano Mauri, as well as former Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni. Several clubs have also had points deducted. Prosecutors have detailed an extensive match-fixing ring stretching as far as Singapore and South America that was allegedly in operation for more than 10 years. The arrests of 14 people in Singapore in September was hailed as a major breakthrough in the fight against corruption in football, with the global networks suspected mastermind among those taken into custody. The Last Bet operation came only a few years after the 2006 Italian match-fixing scandal, which revealed arrangements with referees and resulted in Juventus being stripped of the 2005 and 2006 Serie A titles. The Edmonton Oilers traded for the rights to a free agent defenceman, and got him signed to a two-year deal, paying a premium for a shorter term contract. Eddie Jackson Jersey . Numbers Game looks at the Oilers inking Nikita Nikitin. The Oilers Get: D Nikita Nikitin. Nikitin, 28, played a career-high 66 games last season, an indication that hes still trying to establish his place in the league. A couple of years ago, in 2011-2012, Nikitin contributed a career-best 32 points in 54 games for Columbus (after seven scoreless games with St. Louis to start the year), playing a career-high 23:12 per game for the season putting up strong relative possession numbers while facing high-quality opposition, while frequently paired with veteran Fedor Tyutin. Thats the Nikitin that the Oilers have to hope they are acquiring. In 2012-2013, Nikitins role was decreased somewhat, and while he still logged 21:12 per game, Nikitin was then surpassed on the depth chart last season by rookie Ryan Murray, leaving Nikitin to play 17:07 per game on the third pair. Playing on that third pair didnt bring ideal results, as Nikitin was a little below break-even in possession terms, but if there is reason to hold out hope for Nikitin, it may be that his with-or-without you numbers arent bad over the past three seasons. Among the 16 skaters with whom he played at least 300 5-on-5 minutes over those three seasons, Nikitin had better possession numbers apart than 11 of those skaters, but that relative effectiveness has decreased in the past two seasons, to the point that in 2013-2014, Nikitin had better possession stats apart from just three of the 13 skaters with whom he played more than 150 5-on-5 minutes. What this would seem to indicate is that Nikitin, who has good size, can skate and handle the puck a bit, isnt necessarily one to carry the play. He could be a useful complementary player and presumably Oilers Senior VP of Hockey Operations Scott Howson (who acquired Nikitin as GM in Columbus) is a fan, but there is risk in bringing in a player with falling possession numbers to a team that already ranked 28th in Fenwick Close (unblocked shot attempts during 5-on-5, score within one goal in first two periods and tied in third period). Its not as though Nikitins play in the past couple seasons indicates that he would improve the results no matter with whom he is partnered and its reasonable to wonder if the Oilers have the right personnel to get positive results with Nikitin on the ice. If the Jeff Petry and Martin Marincin pairing goes ahead, then perhaps Nikitin gets a chance alongside Andrew Ference. Maybe that somehow works out and allows the Oilers some time to develop their young defencemen. Its entirely possible that it wont work out, though, and the short-term nature of the contract suggests that both sides recognize that risk. Signed to a two-year, $9-million deal, Nikitin will be well-compensated, particularly if he cant stick in the Oilers top four, but the downside of a two-year deal is limited compared to the longer term that will be available to other free agent defencemen. The Blue Jackets Get: A fifth-round pick. Since the Blue Jackets werent going to bring Nikitin back, getting any asset in return is a plus. The fifth-round pick, 137th overall, belonged to Columbus originally and was traded to Edmonton last season to acquire D Nick Schultz. A fifth-round pick doesnt bring a lot of value, but its something. From 1990 through 2009, just under 15% of the picks between 121 and 150 played at least 100 NHL games, so there is a little better than a one-in-seven chance of netting an NHL player. While its reasonable for the Oilers to have hope Nikitin can perform in a top-four role, it could be telling that the Blue Jackets would let Nikitin depart as a free agent. Mabye they simply didnt want to pay that kind of money to a third pair defenceman, when they have younger, cheaper options (David Savard, Dalton Prout, Tim Erixon) available and thats fair, but current Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen was the Blues Director of Scouting when St. Louis picked Nikitin in the fifth round in 2004. Lots can change over time and the Blue Jackets arent likely to regret letting Nikitin go, even if he works out well for the Oilers. SEATTLE -- Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon wants his team to take responsibility for this loss. Gerald Everett Youth Jersey . Right fielder Cole Gillespie committed two of Seattles season-high five errors in a 9-7 loss Sunday to the Kansas City Royals. The five errors were three more than they had in a game this year and the teams most since Sept. 5, 2011, against the Los Angeles Angels. "One thing I dont do is make excuses for guys, so the onus is on the players in the locker room today," McClendon said. Johnny Giavotella had a three-run homer in a four-run seventh inning, helping the Royals rally from a 7-5 deficit. Alcides Escobar had given the Royals the early lead with a second-inning grand slam off starter Roenis Elias. But the Mariners rallied behind Dustin Ackleys two homers and Kyle Seagers two-run shot to take the 7-5 lead after five innings. Danny Farquhar (1-1), though, took over in the seventh and yielded all four runs. Farquhar was upset by a critical call by home umpire Marcus Pattillo three batters before Giavotellas home run. The Royals seventh began with a double by Eric Hosmer. Farquhar then struck out Billy Butler and appeared to strike out Danny Valencia on a 2-2 curveball. But Pattillo called it a ball, causing Farquhar to throw up his arms in disgust. "Im pretty sure umpires dont like that," Valencia said. Farquhar was upset and it seemed to have an impact on the rest of his inning. He ended up walking Valencia and Alex Gordon, loading the bases. Lorenzo Cain tied it with a sacrifice fly to centre. Then Giavotella, promoted from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday, hit Farquhars first pitch for his first home run. "Sometimes you want pitches and they are not called," Farquhar said. "You cant let that affect you. I want everything called a strike, so that is nothing different for me." Valencia added, its part of the game. Its going to happen. No ones perfect out there. Fortunately, it was in my favour." Royals manager Ned Yost, when asked about Farquhars borderline pitch, said, "We were upset when we didnt get a third strike on (Mike) Zunino, too, which ended up costing us two runs. Thats part of the game." That pitch came during the Mariners three-run, second-inning rally. After Ackley hit his first home run to open the inning, Stephen Romero was hit by a pitch, bring up Zunino. Starter Jeremy Guthrie believed he had Zunino struck out but it was called a ball. Zunino then singled to right and both runners scored on a double by Brad Miller, ending a 0-for-19 slide. Greg Holland came on in the ninth to pick up his ninth save in 10 opportunities. Louis Coleman (1-0), who worked a scoreless sixth, earned the victory. A pair of errors in the fourth allowed the Royals to build the lead by to 5-3. Giavotella walked and Escobar singled. Catcher Zunino tried to pick Giavotella off second but his throw scooted into centre for an error, with the runners advancing. First baseman Justin Smoak then bobbled Nori Aokis bouncer, allowing Giavotella to score. Seager, who missed the previous two games with flu-like symptoms, hit his sixth home run in the fourth followed by Ackleys second, his first career multihomer game. Ackley also had a home run in the sixth inning Saturday, giving him three in three straight at-bats. He has four on the season. "Ive been seeing the ball pretty well," Ackley said, "putting good swings on balls and not missing things." The Mariners added a run in the fifth on Corey Harts two-out single, scoring James Jones from second. Entering the game, the Royals had hit just 14 home runs, lowest in baseball. But seven of their nine runs scored via the long ball. "Sometimes errors are as contagious as hitting is," Ackley added. "Anything is contagious. We just have to scratch this one and move on. It was a tough game. I think we should have won it." NOTES: Mariners RF Michael Saunders, who slipped chasing a flyball in the third inning of Saturdays game, missed the game with a hyper-extended left knee. "Its a little sore but nothing thats going to hinder me from missing significant time," Saunders said. He pinch hit in the eighth and struck out. ... Mariners pitchers James Paxton (strained lat muscle) and Taijuan Walker (shoulder impingement) threw bullpen sessions before the game. Paxton is up to 40 pitches and will have another session Wednesday before a decision will be made where he will pitch next. Walker threw 25 pitches and will need at least a couple more sessions before the club considers a rehab assignment. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Team USA Hockey Jersey . -- Mark Calcavecchias 8-foot closing putt for birdie put him in a better mood and sole possession of the second-round lead in the Regions Tradition at Shoal Creek. Calcavecchia insisted that only the first benefit was meaningful. He shot his second straight 3-under 69 on Friday to reach 6 under and take a one-stroke lead over Jay Haas at the Champions Tour major. Haas had a 70 after they came in as part of a four-way tie in the major championship. Haas missed a 4-footer on No. 18 to give Calcavecchia a shot at the solo lead at the midway point. Calcavecchia said finishing with a birdie improves his mood, lead or no lead. "It really doesnt matter, other than the fact that Im happier that I made the putt on the last hole, made the 8-footer for birdie as opposed to missing it," said Calcavecchia, who is seeking his first Champions Tour win since the 2012 Montreal Championship. "Sixty-nine sounds better than 70, it always has. "It always feels good to birdie the last hole. Leading as opposed to being tied for the lead, that makes no difference whatsoever to me." It was the highest score for a 36-hole leader at the Tradition since J.C. Snead was 6 under at Desert Mountain in 1996. The 36-hole leader has only won one of the last nine majors on the 50-and-over tour, with the exception being Mark Wiebe last year in the Senior British Open. Calcavecchias main concern is a rib problem he aggravated late in Thursdays round, leading to upper back spasms. He said it began flaring up again after swings starting on No. 14 Friday. "Its like a delayed reaction, then it kind of goes away," he said. Kenny Perry and Olin Browne were 4 under. Perry had a 68, and Browne shot 71. Browne was part of the first-round logjam along with Chien Soon Lu, who shot a 77. Haas birdied the first four holes, and Calcavecchia had three birdies on the first six holes. "I didnt put myself into a lot of bad positions," Haas said. "Being 4 under after four was kind of a dream start and it kind of slowly got away from me. But I like my position. I feel pretty good about my situation going into the weekend." He bogeyed No. 5 after landing in the bunker and then three-putted No. 15 for another bogey. Haas followed that with a 35-footer for birdie on No. 16. Calcavecchia also had a bogey on the 15th hole after having a bad lie about 10 yards right of the green. He chipped it some 15 feet past the hole. Calcavecchia said he started his round knowing Haas had gotten off to a good start and that Tom Pernice Jr. -- who finished with a 70 and was four strokes back -- had also opened with four straight birdies. Beyond that, he said hes not a scoreboard watcher. "Theres no point in really looking at this stage," Calcavecchia said. "Youre just trying to play the course and make as many birdies as possible and pars. Still a long way to go. If it was a three-rounder like most of our regular tournaments, it would be a little different story maybe. But were only halfway done." Haas takes a different approach. "I look at scoreboards all the time," he said. "I like seeing my name up there and seeing whats going on and all that. Its such a long race and theres so much golf left to be played that Im not too concerned about one shot here and there. You hate to throw any shots away obviously, but Im still feeling pretty good about where I am." Perry had three birdies on the final nine holes and was already looking forward to Round 3. "Saturdays the rocking chair day as I call it, and Ive got to make my move on that day," said Perry, who also had two bogeys. "I need to shoot another one of these or a little better to get back into it for Sunday." Defending champion David Frost was five strokes back and two-time winner Tom Lehman was six away from the lead. Both had 71s. Fred Couples was 7 over after a 77. Patrick Kane Jersey . Pinch hitter Ricardo Nanita singled with two out in the ninth to lift the Blue Jays to a 5-4 victory over the New York Mets on a Friday night that was part exhibition baseball, part tribute to former Expos and Mets catcher Gary Carter and part appeal to the world to bring baseball back to Montreal. It was the first game at the Big O since the Expos farewell game on Sept. 24, 2004, before they moved to Washington, D.C. to become the Nationals. The teams will play again on Saturday afternoon, when the Expos 1994 team will be feted. Carters widow Sandy and daughter Kimmy were on hand with his ex-teammates Tim Raines, Steve Rogers and Warren Cromartie for a pre-game tribute to perhaps the most popular player in Expos history. He also played for and won a World Series in 1986 with the Mets. "The city always embraced Gary, and us as a family" Sandy Carter said afterwards. "I really felt that tonight. We made it our home and felt privileged to be here for 11 years." Carter died of brain cancer at age 57 in 2012. The City of Montreal named a street after him outside the Expos original home, Jarry Park. "He was a great teammate, a great player, a great competitor," said Raines, a roving outfield instructor for the Blue Jays. "Him and Andre Dawson taught me the meaning of playing the game. "If I didnt listen to him, Andre Dawson would slap me upside the head." Many other former players and management personnel were on hand to see the Blue Jays come back from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game in the seventh and win it in the ninth. Fans chanted Lets Go Expos throughout most of the game, but all were on their feet for the final inning trying to will the Blue Jays to victory. Munenori Kawasaki opened the ninth with a double and scored from third as Nanita singled up the middle. Jeremy Jeffress pitched the final two innings for the win. Mets third baseman David Wright, a rookie in 2004, called it a fun night. "It brought back a bunch of memories for me," said Wright. "My first road trip in the big leagues was to Montreal, my first home run was in Montreal, so it was nice today to reminisce as bit. "Its nice for us to be able to come up here and break up spring training a bit, because it gets a little boring down there (in Floridda). Jack Johnson Jersey. To come up to a great city with an obviously hungry fan base -- its kind of like a dress rehearsal for us. Youve got the big crowd, you get a little more excited than at a normal spring training game. "Its good practice for Monday (the Mets season opener against the Nationals)." The Mets scored two in the fourth off Jays starter Mark Buehrle on Chris Youngs two-run double. Toronto got one back in the fourth on Jose Bautistas home run, but Ruben Tejada doubled and scored on Daniel Murphys two-bagger off Casey Janssen in the fifth. Former Blue Jays prospect Travis dArnaud led off the seventh with a home run, but Edwin Encarnacion tied it with a two-run single in the seventh off Gonzalez Germen. Encarnacion was tagged out in a rundown after the runners scored. Cromartie leads a movement called the Montreal Baseball Project that is working to get a team back in Montreal, even though estimates are that it would cost more than $1 billion for a team and a new ballpark. The Expos, who became Canadas first major league team in 1969, moved to Washington to become the Nationals in 2004 after a decade of fire sales of top players, dwindling attendance and timid ownership. Cromartie and others are trying to revive baseball interest. They called on Montreal fans to turn out in large numbers to the pre-season games to show that the city will support baseball. "If people think there are no fans here -- you see tonight, the support is here," said Raines. "I think it would be good," said Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie, a native of Langley, B.C. "If the fans show up -- that would be the telling tale. You need that support. But it would be good for Canada." The Mets are old Expos rivals, but the crowd was behind the Jays from the start. There was a big ovation for a diving defensive play by Lawrie in the third and another an inning later for Bautistas homer. But in the stands, there were periodic chants of Lets Go Expos, just like in the old days. The Blue Jays open the season on Tuesday in Tampa Bay, so the trip north from Florida spring training actually took them out of their way. But no one complained of playing in front of huge, supportive crowd. "To be honest, Id rather stay in Florida, but its good for Canada," said Lawrie. "We can suck it up. Its good energy." Buehrle gave up two earned runs and four hits in four innings.
