KRASNAYA POLAYNA, Russia -- Brian McKeever and Chris Klebl made sure Canada finished the Sochi Paralympic Winter Games on a high note. The cross-country skiers both won their races on Sunday, with McKeever taking the mens visually impaired 10-kilometre event before Klebl surprised the field with a stunning victory in the mens 10-kilometre sitting category. McKeever picked up his third gold medal -- and the 10th of his career -- at these Games, while Klebl won his first-ever Paralympic medal. The victories pushed Canadas overall medal count to 16, three shy of the 19 won at the Vancouver Games four years ago. More importantly, they moved Canada to third in the gold-medal standings, a stated goal that team officials set prior to the Paralympics. Russia topped the standings with an eye-popping 80 medals -- including 30 gold -- while Ukraine was second with 25 total medals. Germany was second behind Russia in the gold-medal count with nine. McKeever finished Sundays race in a time of 23 minutes 18.1 seconds, just 8.1 seconds ahead of Russias Stanislav Chokhlaev. He employed the same strategy with his guides that helped him win the 20-kilometre gold medal last week. With windy conditions starting to wear on guide Erik Carleton, Graham Nishikawa entered the race with about three kilometres to go to help seal the 10th gold medal of McKeevers storied career. "It was all on the guides today. They did such a great job with all the headwind," said McKeever. "There was so much wind out there today that just to be tucked in, I saved a lot of energy. By the time we got to the last lap there was still a little bit of gas left, just enough to get by." The 42-year-old Klebl won in a time of 30 minutes 52.0 seconds. Ukraines Maksym Yarovyi finished second at 31:06.5 and Russias Grigory Murygin skied to the bronze at 31:18.2. "It feels pretty good for sure," said Klebl. "I have exceptional skis for wet, sloppy conditions and today we got exactly those conditions. It just feels good. We prepare for this over and over and over again to try and get things to line up, and today it did." A three-time Paralympian, Klebl moved to Canmore, Alta. to join the Canadian team from the United States following the Vancouver 2010 Games. ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen is taking a different approach to the bye week this year. Almost half the team was excused from the first practice of this seasons bye week as Allen gave almost all of the teams veterans and injured players time away from the field. After the team held morning meetings, the veterans got some rest and treatment while the younger players held a short practice to tune up the passing game and clean up some mistakes. Thats a contrast to last years approach, when Oakland held mostly full practices during its week off in Allens first year as coach. "I just felt like with where were at as a football team, especially with the health of the football team, that I thought it was important for the veteran players to get some time to really take care of their bodies and get themselves back healthy and ready to go for next week," Allen said Tuesday. The Raiders (2-4) are riddled with injuries and were forced to cobble together a makeshift offensive line in Sundays 24-7 loss at Kansas City. Guard Mike Brisiel was forced to play at centre after backup Andre Gurode left the game with an injury with starter Stefen Wisniewski already hurt. That gave rookie Lamar Mady his first offensive action as a pro at right guard. Matt McCants, who played only a handful of snaps before starting against San Diego on Oct. 6, was forced back into action at right tackle after Tony Pashos got hurt. The Raiders have already had to move Khalif Barnes from right tackle to left tackle because of injuries to Jared Veldheer and Menelik Watson, and Lucas Nix made just his fourth career start at left guard. Running backs Darren McFadden and Rashad Jennings also are nursing hamstring injuries, putting the bye week at a most opportune time. "Its very important," receiver Rod Streater said. "I think its going to help get some linemen back. Just any nicks and bruises we have the week off will help us out." That led Allen to make the decision to keep his veterans out of practice as only 36 of the 61 players on the active roster and practice squad took part in the abbreviated workout. That included all the quarterbacks, receivers and tight ends, leading to a heavy emphasis on the passing game. Most of the time was spent in 7-on-7 passing drills with linemen doing individual work on the side. "Weve got a lot of guys that are banged-up, a lot of the veteran guys," Allen said. "We need those guys to get their bodies back, get their minds back. Well give them a little bit of time, but were still bringing them in, still meeting with them and spending a lot of time in the training room." The other focus this week is mental as a young Raiders team tries to learn how to win games. Oakland has been in position to win five of the six games this season with the only blowout coming in Week 3 in Denver. The Raiders faltered late in losses to Washington and Kansas City as they made too many key mistakes at the most inopportune times. "Weve given ourselves opportunities to win games. Weve got to continue to put ourselves in those types of positions," Allen said. "The more we do that, the more experience we get with that, the better were going to react to those situations and well begin to win some of these games and come out on the plus side instead of having to come back and make some adjustments after tough losses." Speaking on TSN Radio 1050s TSN Drive with Dave Naylor on Monday, Colangelo said he had no intention of tanking the shortened 2011-12 season, but definitely wanted a high pick in the draft. "I wish that word wasnt used for headline reasons," said Colangelo, "but the story behind it was: how can we fix the system? How can we tweak the system to make it less likely that teams are rewarded for losing records? "I do believe that if youre as transparent as we were at the time - with our season seat holders, our fans, the market place and the media - everybody knew what the plan was and what we were going through. It didnt make it easy to lose games but there was anticipation that games would be lost. With that comes curtain rewards and in the system that we currently play under, the team with the worst record gets the greatest odds and a non-playoff team is in a lottery that can ultimately lead to them getting top-notch talent coming to their team." Colangelo said the team was happy getting Terrence Ross in the first round (8th overall) of the 2012 draft and would never tell a coach to lose games since it can only have negative long-term effects. "Coach was doing such a fabulous job with the group that there certainly was no intentional losing going on because we won far too many games than anyone anticipated and it put us in a position to still get a nice draft pick in Terrance Ross," said Colangelo. "But it certainly decreased our odds of getting the top choice, which was a franchise centre in Anthony Davis." Colangelo talked about when the team faced heavy scrutiny when they picked Jonas Valanciunas, who was selected in the first round (5th overall) in 2011. "We got booed off the stage when the announcement was made but that was the right pick for this organization.dddddddddddd It was not an easy one to make knowing that Jonas would not be made available for at least a year and maybe more if the buyout hadnt been successfully negotiated. We knew it was going to be a tough scenario going into a new year without the inclusion of a top draft pick but the following season we also knew that not only would Jonas be coming but another fairly high-value draft selection - unknown at the time - would be helping us as well. Not to mention we would have cap space and greater developed players at that point." The Raptors finished the 2011-12 season with a 23-43 record, good for 11th in the Eastern Conference, 12 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the final playoff spot in the East, and the eighth-worst record in the NBA. The team neither rose nor fell in the lottery, receiving the eighth-overall pick in the 2012 draft where they selected Ross out of the University of Washington. The 2007 NBA Executive of the Year (with the Phoenix Suns) was speaking at the MIT Sports Analytics Conference on a proposal currently in front of the NBA Board of Governors which would see the draft lottery and any incentive to bottom out eliminated. "Admittedly, I will say, I tried to tank a couple years ago," said Colangelo to the conference. "And I didnt come out and say, Coach (Dwane Casey), youve got to lose games. I never said that. I wanted to have him establish a winning tradition and a culture and all of that, but I wanted to do it in the framework of playing and developing young players, and with that comes losing. Theres just no way to avoid that, but I never once said, Youve got to lose this game." Colangelo was relieved of his general manager position last May in favour of Masai Ujiri and eventually resigned his post as Raptors president the following month. cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

NASHVILLE -- The Tennessee Titans have agreed to a multiyear deal with linebacker Shaun Phillips. The Titans announced the deal Thursday. The 10-year veteran ranks ninth with 79 1/2 sacks over the past decade in the NFL. He also has forced 22 forced fumbles in 152 career games with his first nine seasons in San Diego. The 6-foot-3, 255-pound linebacker played all 16 games for Denver last season with 10 sacks, 36 tackles, an interception and two forced fumbles. General manager Ruston Webster says Phillips is a flexible linebacker who adds to the Titans pass rush with his play and experience. Phillips has missed only eight games in his career. The 35-year-old from West Vancouver, B.C., broke her wrist in training Jan. 28 and required surgery to repair the compound fracture. ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Up three goals in the first period against the worst team in the Western Conference, the Minnesota Wild appeared to be rolling to an easy win. However, the Edmonton Oilers refused to roll over. The Oilers scored twice in the final 9 minutes of regulation to force overtime, then completed their comeback when Taylor Hall scored in the fourth round of the shootout to lift Edmonton to a 4-3 victory over the Wild on Tuesday night. "We got really complacent when we were up 3-0," the Wilds Zach Parise said. "Just (a) lack of energy on the bench even when we were up 3-0. You could just sense, even though we were up 3-0, we werent feeling good. We played with no intensity, no urgency." Minnesota now holds a three-point lead over Dallas for the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference, with Phoenix just a point behind the Stars. The Stars and Coyotes both won on Tuesday, making the Wilds loss sting a bit more. Zach Parise, Jared Spurgeon, and Jason Pominville scored in 4-minute, 16-second span of the first period to put the Wild up 3-0. But they missed other key opportunities to put the game away, including a 5-on-3 power play midway through the second period and another man advantage late in regulation that extended into overtime. "I thought that we were a little bit lucky to be up 3-0. You could tell that we werent on it right away," Wild coach Mike Yeo said. "We addressed it, we talked about it, but we werent able to find it. Youre obviously playing with fire when youre doing that." Jeff Petry got the Oilers on the scoreboard about 90 seconds after the Wilds flurry, and David Perron and Jordan Eberle scored in the third period to tie it. Andrew Ference had two assists. Viktor Fasth finished with 28 saves through overtime to help Edmonton win for the third time in four games. "Im proud of them. It wouldve been real easy to pack it in, call it a night and get on to the next game, but our guys refused to do it," Oilers coach Dallas Eakins said. "They just kept scrapping and clawing and its tough against a team like that." In the shootout, Hall beat Darcy Kuemper with a forehand after each team scored in the first two rounds. Fasth stopped two straight shots before Hall slipped the game-winner between Kuempers pads. "Its been a while since Ive taken a shootout shot. I was kind of panicking a bit, but (EEberle) told me he thought five-hole would be there, and sure enough, fake shot, five-hole," Hall said.dddddddddddd "It was good to see that one go in." Mikael Granlund had a pair of assists for the Wild, who have lost three straight, including the last two in shootouts. Parise opened the scoring on the power play, taking a pass from Granlund and beating Fasth with his own rebound for his 22nd goal of the season with 9:53 left in the first. Minnesota doubled its lead when Spurgeons slap shot from the right point hit Oilers defenceman Justin Schultz in the leg and deflected past a screened Fasth with 6:14 to go. Pominville made it 3-0 with 4:37 left in the first when he scored his team-leading 24th of the year off a feed from Granlund, who had chased down a loose puck behind the net. Petry then fired a shot from the right corner that hit traffic in front of the net and skipped past Kuemper with 3:05 left in the period to get Edmonton on the board. The Wild controlled the pace for most of the second period, but they couldnt beat Fasth, who held them at bay during an extended 5-on-3 power play when Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Ryan Smyth were each called for hooking within 36 seconds. Parise said the Wilds struggles on the power play were frustrating, "but it goes way beyond that. If youre up 3-0, you cant give up three straight." Perron tipped in Ferences pass for his team-leading 24th goal with just under 9 minutes to play in the third to cut Minnesotas lead to 3-2. Eberle tied it with 4:53 to go in regulation, scoring off a long rebound given up by Kuemper. Ference fired the puck into the Minnesota zone from centre ice, but Kuemper could not control the carom. Eberle beat Ryan Suter to the puck in the high slot and slipped a wrist shot past Kuemper for his 21st goal of the year. Edmontons Matt Hendricks took a 2-minute minor with 8.7 seconds left in regulation when he inadvertently shot the puck into the crowd in his defensive zone. But the Oilers killed off the penalty, and Parise later hit the post as the Wild failed to put the game away. NOTES: Wild F Matt Cooke played in his 1,000th NHL game. DETROIT -- Joel Hanrahan is still working back from elbow surgery for a team eagerly awaiting his return. The former All-Star agreed to a $1 million, one-year deal with the Detroit Tigers, who are hopeful the right-hander can bolster a shaky bullpen when hes ready to pitch again in the majors. Hanrahan had Tommy John surgery last May after nine appearances for the Boston Red Sox in 2013. He saved 76 games over the previous two seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates. "The one area we wanted to address the most with our ballclub has been our bullpen," general manager Dave Dombrowski said after announcing the deal Friday. The Tigers put Hanrahan on the 15-day disabled list, saying they will not rush him back to the majors. Hanrahan is expected to throw to hitters next week. "Right now I feel good. My arm feels good, my body feels good," Hanrahan said. "Im able to throw a slider again, which I havent been able to do for a while." Hanrahan will earn $819,672 of his base salary, or 150-183rds given that he wasnt on the roster until Friday. He can make $2.17 million in bonuses based on time on the active major league roster: $310,000 each for 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 and 105 days. "Im not going to jump to the conclusion that hes going to be 100 per cent just because of the nature of the recovery from these surgeries, but the reports are his velocity has been good," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "I dont know necessarily back to where he was pre-surgery, but it doesnt mean he wont get back. "I do know hes battle-tested in late innings," Ausmus added. "He wont be intimidated by a situation, which I think is very important, especially if you work your way into a pennant race by September." The 32-year-old said Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter -- a friend of his -- helped recruit him. Detroit signed veteran Joe Nathan to be the closer in the off-season, but the bullpen was hurt by a season-ending injury to Bruce Rondon. Tigers relievers had a 5.37 ERA entering Friday nights game at Kansas City. The 6-foot-4 Hanrahan is hesitant to put any timetable on his return. "I dont think anybodys really saying like, Youve got to be back on June 1," Hanrahan said. "Its kind of a situation where I havent faced a hitter yet, I havent bounced back from throwing in a game. Its a situation that, itll come day by day." Ausmus also tried to temper expectations that Hanrahan will be able to help soon. "Youre making the assumption that everything is going to go well, and I hope it does," he said, "but theres some Ts to cross and Is to dot before Im ready to say how great this is. But all things equal, Id rather have him if hes healthy than not have him." If Hanrahan is healthy and effective, he could end up being one of the teams top right-handed options in the bullpen, along with Nathan. Al Alburquerque and Joba Chamberlain have shown the ability to strike hitters out, but they had ERAs of 4.50 and 4.35 entering Friday. Hanrahan was an All-Star in 2011 and 2012, and in 2010 he struck out 100 hitters in 69 2-3 innings for the Pirates. "When anybody comes back from injury thats got an established big league history, we try to watch all of those guys throw whenever we can," Dombrowski said. "Were always looking to upgrade." GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers has been cleared to return from a left collarbone injury, just in time to start Sunday for the Packers against the Chicago Bears in a game to decide the NFC North title. With no advance warning and little fanfare, the franchise quarterback received the long-awaited good news at the same time as the rest of his teammates Thursday. "This is a fun day for me, but I think the focus needs to be on this game and the opportunity we have to win the division," Rodgers said. Soon enough. But the spotlight for now is squarely on the return of one of the NFLs most irreplaceable players. Green Bay (7-7-1) is 2-5-1 since Rodgers went down during the first series of a 27-20 loss Nov. 4 to Chicago. The Packers have managed to hang on, with a shot to win a third straight division title with a victory Sunday at Soldier Field. "Ill start with the announcement that were preparing for the Chicago Bears with Aaron Rodgers as our starting quarterback," coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Thursday after practice. Win and Green Bay returns to Lambeau Field the following weekend to host a wild-card team in the first round of the playoffs. "Were in it. You know we have a chance against our rivals, and what a better way than to go down there and get some redemption and host a home playoff game," Rodgers said. The last two months have been filled with angst for Packers fans. Discussions about whether Rodgers should risk future injury or return to bolster Green Bays playoff chances have filled sports talk radio shows and holiday office parties. Now imagine what it was like for the Packers brass and team doctor. The organization made a big investment in Rodgers this past off-season, signing him to a five-year contract extension through the 2019 season worth as much as $110 million. "Every football player that plays in this game Sunday will have risk. I think we all understand that," McCarthy said. "So weve done our due diligence. Weve gone through all the evaluations and we feel it is time. Aaron is ready to play." Finally at 8:05 a.m. Thursday, McCarthy gave the official word at a team meeting. No rousing speeches or rounds of applause. "The scene? We were sitting in the team room and he told us," Rodgers said matter-of-factly. "That was the scene." Rodgers is returning just when pass-rushing linebacker Clay Matthews is leaving the lineup again with a right thumb injury. Green Bay also has gone the majority of the season without tight end Jermichael Finley (neck). Projected starting left tackle Bryan Bulaga went down in training camp. Defensive end Johnny Jolly (shoulder/neck) was the latest Packer to get knocked out for the year last week. Still, the Packers managed to start 5-2 despite the injuries with Rodgers leading the offence. Things changed drastically after the 2011 NFL MVP got hurt on a sack while scrambling out of the pocket in the Week 9 loss to Chicago at Lambeau Field. The Packers went on a five-game winless skid, shuffling through three more starting quarterbacks. Green Bay then won two straight with backup Matt Flynn before falling 38-31 last week to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Losses by Chicago and the Detroit Lions set up the winner-take-all finale Sunday with the Bears for the division. Rodgers impending return wasnt the only good injury news Thursday in Titletown. Rookie running back Eddie Lacy was held out of practice with a lingering ankle injury, though McCarthy expects his 1,100-yard rusher to play Sunday. Playmaking receiver Randall Cobb, out since Week 6 with a leg injury, is moving well in practice and appears to be getting closer to returning. While he wont make the final call, Cobb said "This week in practice Im going out and preparing to play." And now with Rodgers back, positive vibes are reverberating through the locker room. Rodgers has gained added perspective from having to watch from the sideline with a headset. Hes been there to help Flynn. He understands that every move he makes in Chicago will be dissected by armchair quarterbacks. "Its easy to talk about it with you guys and understand the risks," he said. "But when youre out on the field, its about performing and playing and not worrying about it." TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has no concerns about the health of shortstop Derek Jeter, who was limited to 17 games last season due to leg injuries. Jeter is scheduled to play Thursday against Pittsburgh in his first spring training game of his final season. Cashman said Wednesday he is "more curious as to like how the weather report is for tomorrow than what hes going to look like." "What happened last year was unfortunate and unexpected," Cashman said. "Ive been conditioned not to worry about Derek Jeter, and I havent deviated from that." Jeter, who turns 40 in June, broke his left ankle in the 2012 AL championship series, then broke it again last spring during his rehabilitation. "Im looking forward to being out there," Jeter said. "I feel good now, so last year doesnt matter. Since Ive been here this year, everything has been like a normal spring. You cant really compare last year and this year. Two entirely different years. Last year I felt as though I was rehabbing, this year Im good to go." "Hes pretty remarkable," Jeter said. "I think its cool that hes playing two sports. You dont see that too often now." NEW YORK -- ACL injuries are down, the NFL has told its Health and Safety Advisory Committee. In a memo to the committee sent earlier this week and obtained by The Associated Press, the league said research showed there were 30 ACL injuries in games through the preseason and first 13 weeks of the schedule. There were 39 such injuries in 2012, 35 in 2011, 37 in 2010, and 31 in 2009. Anterior cruciate ligament problems are the most severe knee injuries. There was an increase in medial collateral ligament injuries (MCL), from 74 in 2012 to 89 in games this season through 13 weeks. But there were 106 MCL injuries in 2011, 89 in 2010 and 103 in 2009. The injury reporting service Quintiles/Outcome provided the numbers to the league, which then sent them to the committee chaired by 49ers owner John York. The committee also includes Giants owner John Mara, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Packers President Mark Murphy and Falcons President Rich McKay. The data are for all types of ACL and MCL injuries, including tears and sprains. There have been suggestions that knee injuries have gone up since the NFL cracked down heavily on hits to the head and neck area. While there have been several high-profile hits to the knee that sidelined players -- New England tight end Rob Gronkowski, for example -- the league-requested survey of this years injuries does not indicate a trend toward increased major knee problems through 13 weeks. Earlier this week, Patriots coach Bill Belichick claimed injuries were up. He didnt cite specific numbers, but said it was "a matter of record not opinion" that injuries league-wide have been on the rise over the past three years.dddddddddddd Belichick blamed a decrease in the number of off-season, preseason and in-season practice sessions and workouts allowed as a main contributor to higher injury totals. League spokesman Michael Signora disputed Belichicks assertions. "We carefully monitor player injuries," Signora said. "There is no evidence that the new work rules have had an adverse effect on the injury rate or that injuries have in fact increased." And with the ACL injuries, the research by Quintiles/Outcome shows the opposite. This season through 13 weeks, about 68 per cent of ACL injuries involved contact with another player. The percentage in the four previous seasons ranged from 67 per cent in 2009 to 55 per cent in 2012. A breakdown by positions showed one tight end, one wide receiver and one quarterback had contact-related ACL injuries through 13 weeks this season. That compares to five such injuries combined at those positions in 2012 and four in 2011. For offensive players in general, there have been six such injuries in 2013 through 13 weeks, compared to 10 in 2012, eight in 2011, nine in 2010 and six in 2009. On defence, there were six ACL injuries involving contact with another player. This compares to nine such injuries in 2012, 10 in 2011, nine in 2010, and seven in 2009. For special teams, there were four ACL injuries involving contact with another player as compared to two last season and four in 2011. cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

OTTAWA -- Antoine Vermette scored three times -- including the overtime winner -- for the Phoenix Coyotes in a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon. Vermette found a loose puck in front of Senators goalie Craig Anderson and pushed it through to the back of the net at 2:23. He now had three goals against his former team in five games. Radim Vrbata also scored for the Coyotes (19-10-6), who halted a three-game losing streak. Marc Methot, Kyle Turris, and Zach Smith had goals in a losing effort for Ottawa (14-17-7). The Senators have now lost three straight. Both goaltenders, Anderson for the Senators and Mike Smith for the Coyotes, saw plenty of action as Ottawa outshot Phoenix 40-38. Smith made solid back-to-back saves pad saves on Turris and Clarke MacArthur two minutes in overtime to keep the game going. The second, on MacArthur, Smith was on his stomach and just stretched his right leg out enough to get his toe on the puck. Seconds later Vermette scored the winner Vermettes second goal tied the game with just 2:13 to play in the third period and forced the overtime session. While on the power play the Coyotes were aided with two horrible clearing attempts by the Senators and eventually Vermette took a pass from David Moss and deposited the puck into an empty net behind a fallen Anderson. Ottawa was on the positive side of a 2-0 score early in the second period. Fresh from the penalty box, Zack Smith got a long pass from Eric Gryba and skated in on a partial break from centre ice and beat Mike Smith high to the stick side at 3:10. The lead was short lived though as the Coyotes scored twice in a little more than three minutes, including once on the power play, to tie the game. Vermette scored his first goal when he beat Anderson from the slot at 5:28. Vrbata then scored on the power play at 8:47 when he moved in from the point and beat Anderson short side with a shot that barely made it past teammate Martin Hanzal. Methot then gave the Senators the lead back with his goal at 14:51. LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Jim Boeheim and Syracuse remained perfect in Maui. C.J. Fair scored 14 of his 24 points in the second half and No. 8 Syracuse beat No. 18 Baylor 74-67 on Wednesday night for the title. The Orange (7-0) delivered three wins in three days, taking control against Baylor midway through the first half and limiting the Bears hopes of a comeback. Syracuse beat Minnesota on Monday and California on Tuesday, improving to 9-0 all-time at Maui. The Orange also won the tournament in 1990 and 1998. "And guess what -- Im never coming back," said Boeheim jokingly after the game in a television interview. He later told reporters: "The next time I come to Maui I will have my golf clubs." Fair won the tournaments MVP, taking home a wooden trophy shaped like a basketball. After the game, he posed for photos with several fans with the hardware before walking off the floor. "Im still in the moment, so Im good to go," Fair said. "Tomorrow at practice, itll hit me then." Syracuse stopped would-be runs by Baylor several times. The loss snapped Baylors 11-game winning streak -- longest in the nation -- dating back to last seasons NIT championship run. "I thought we left here becoming a better team," Baylor coach Scott Drew said. "Obviously theres not much time to work on anything but Im pleased with our players, how they battled." Baylor had a 10-2 run to make it 68-62 with Cory Jefferson dunking an alley-oop pass, but Fair responded immediately with a jumper with just over two minutes left. Earlier, Baylor pulled to within 4 points when Jefferson tipped in a missed shot by Kenny Chery, but Syracuse answered with a 10-point run capped by a steal by Trevor Cooney that led to a fast break and a layup for Tyler Ennis to make it 66-52 with just over five minutes left. Jerami Grant scored 19 points and also made the events all-tournament team. Cooney and Ennis scored 11 points each. Syracuse shot just under 51 per cent, hanging on in the second half after shooting 57.1 per cent before halftime. Baylor outscored Syracuse by 1 point in the second half. "We are figuring out how to make plays. Three nights in a row against good teams -- this was a really good tournament for us," Boeheim said. Jefferson led Baylor (6-1) with 15 points. Brady Heslip and Chery had 12 points each. "There is always room for improvement win or lose no matter what happens," Jefferson said. "Were just going to go back, watch film of the games, over this whole tournament. Look at the things we did wrong and improve it." Syracuse jumped to a 10-2 lead on 3-pointers by Fair and Ennis and a jumper from Cooney. Baylor quickly closed the gap and took a 16-14 lead on Brady Heslips 3-pointer. Fair later scored five straight points to give Syracuse its first double-digit lead of the night midway through the first half. First, he hit a 3 from the left corner. He then thought about shooting a long jumper the next possession, but instead pulled the ball down and drove to the basket, laying it in left-handed. Randy Foye Jersey . VITTORIO VENETO, Italy -- Stefano Pirazzi won the 17th stage of the Giro dItalia on Wednesday, the first professional victory of his career while Nairo Quintana retained the overall leaders pink jersey. Pirazzi made an obscene arm gesture as he crossed the finish line and was reduced to tears following his win. "It wasnt a nice gesture, Im sorry, forgive me," Pirazzi said. "But its been five years of anger, five years of criticism. As the days went by, my moral was going down. I was here to get this victory finally, that was the target. "I was unleashing all that. Five years of criticism is a lot for a young guy. I really had to deal with a lot. Today I reached a goal that I wanted since I was a young boy watching the Giro. Im very happy. Ill enjoy it and never forget this moment." Pirazzi, who had led from the breakaway, made his move with little more than a kilometre remaining and edged out Tim Wellens and Jay McCarthy in a sprint at the end of the 204-kilometre (127-mile) stage from Sarnonico to Vittorio Veneto. The peloton crossed the line 15:36 behind Pirazzi as the top overall standings were unchanged. Quintana remained 1:41 ahead of fellow Colombian Rigoberto Uran and 3:21 ahead of Cadel Evans, with Pierre Rolland only five seconds further back. Victorias Ryder Hesjedal, the 2012 Giro champion, finished 33rd in Wednesdays stage and was in ninth overall, 4:16 back of Quintana. Svein Tuft of Langley, B.C., was in 158th after finishing 144th in stage 17. Quintana had moved into pink after Tuesdays tough leg, which was marred by confusion after some teams believed part of the route had been neutralized -- meaning the times for that section wouldnt count. "In reality there is no controversy," Quintana said. "I know what happened. Theyre creating a story which isnt there. "It would be unjust (if they took time away from me). The organization said the race wasnt neutralized so why remove an advantage that I won?" The peloton remained together for almost half the route before a group of 26 riders managed to get away. After the previous tough stage -- where the cyclists had to deal not only with both the legendary Gavia and Stelvio climbs, but with snow and rain as well -- the peloton was happy to keep a steady pace and let the escape go. The best-placed rider in the break was Damiano Cunego, who was more than 48 minutes behind Quintana, and so the pink jersey group allowed the gap to go out to more than 12 minutes. Thomas De Gendt attacked from the breakaway on the approach to the last of three classified climbs, the ascent up the Muro di Ca del Poggio. Pirazzi followed and caught the Belgian cyclist near the summit, and they were soon joined by Wellens, McCarthy and Matteo Montaguti. There were attacks off the chasing group but the quintets advantage continued to grow and it swiftly became apparent they would not be caught before the finish. PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- David Wrights left rib cage injury has been diagnosed as a muscle tear, but the New York Mets third baseman said hell be ready by opening day. Wright returned to camp Wednesday after receiving a cortisone shot Monday in New York. The injury occurred during a fielding drill early in camp and he hasnt played in a spring training game this year. Wright is expected to resume baseball activities Thursday. He said he just needs about two weeks to prepare for the season, which starts April 4. "I think Im past the difficult part," Wright said. "Now its just a matter of getting back in the swing of things and making sure that I can get back on the field as soon as my body will allow me to, and then get some at-bats." Last week, he had been fielding grounders and running, but not hitting. Wright said the cortisone shot was the best way for him to get on the field faster, but had the injury occurred during the season, he might have remained in the lineup. He played through the back injury for a while last season before finally getting a diagnosis. "It wasnt so much a sharp pain. Its just more of an uncomfortable cramp," Wright said of his rib cage injury. "This would have been one of the times where I would have hoped that I could have played through it, but it doesnt make any sense doing that now." http://www.baratasrosheone.es/comprar-nike-roshe-one-flyknit.html . Palermo had a first-half strike from Fabrizio Miccoli ruled out for offside and also had Michel Morganella sent off 15 minutes from time after picking up his second yellow card.HAMILTON - The Toronto Marlies scored three goals in the second period en route to a 4-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League on Friday. Spencer Abbott had a goal and two assists, and Kory Nagy, T.J. Brennan and Brad Ross also scored for the Marlies (13-9-1). Drew MacIntyre made 28 saves. Louis Leblanc had the lone goal for the Bulldogs (12-11-3), while Robert Mayer stopped 20 shots in a losing effort. The Marlies enjoyed offensive pressure from the opening whistle Friday, but the Bulldogs were able to effectively limit their scoring chances early in the first period. That luck ran out at 11:08 of the period, when Andrew MacWilliams point shot bounced off the end boards and straight to Abbott to the right of Mayers net. Abbott easily slotted the puck into the empty net with the goaltender well out of position. Hamilton pushed back immediately, and nearly found an equalizing goal when winger Patrick Holland drove the net and one-timed a centring pass toward MacIntyre. The goaltender was up to the challenge, and dropped low to kick aside the slap shot. The Bulldogs began the second period with pace, and saw two quality scoring chances pass them by when Holland and Nick Tarnasky were both denied by MacIntyre from close range. After weathering the early pressure, the Marlies struck to double their lead at 7:24 of the second period. David Broll collected the puck in the left corner, and centred for the strreaking Nagy, who tipped the puck through the legs of Mayer.dddddddddddd The lead swelled to 3-0 with Toronto on the power play, after Hamiltons Gabriel Dumont was whistled for kneeing. Stuart Percy shifted the puck across the blue-line to Brennan, whose low wrist shot moved through a screen and the pads of Mayer at 9:03 of the second period. Momentum was clearly with the Marlies, who continued to threaten in the offensive end against a disheartened Bulldogs team. That pressure paved the way for a fourth goal, as Tyler Biggs carried along the left wing unguarded, and threaded a cross-ice pass to Ross at the far post. With Mayer sprawling to his left, Ross waited and lifted a wrist shot over the goaltenders outstretched glove at 10:35 of the second period. Friday marked the Bulldogs annual Toy Toss game, and Louis Leblanc gave the fans in attendance reason to throw their plush toys when he scored to break Drew MacIntyres shutout bid at 11:01 of the second period. The puck took a radical bounce off the foot of Martin St. Pierre behind the net, and rolled to Leblanc in front, who turned and fired a low wrist shot through the legs of MacIntyre. Leblanc had the Bulldogs best chance for a goal in the third period, stickhandling into the high slot on the power play and snapping a heavy wrist shot that clanged off the crossbar and lay in MacIntyres crease. But no Bulldog could poke the loose puck over the goal line. cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

PITTSFORD, N.Y. - After a shaky start to training camp, Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel has had a renewed confidence on the practice field in recent days. Buffalo is looking to keep that momentum on its side in its first real test of the preseason when the Bills play the New York Giants in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, on Sunday. "Obviously we want to go out there and put out a great product," Manuel said. "Its national TV. Its the kickoff of the NFL season so obviously we want to start off with a bang." Most of the attention has been on Manuel at Buffalos training camp in suburban Rochester. The Bills have surrounded the second-year quarterback with an assortment of playmaking options, including newcomers Sammy Watkins and Mike Williams at wide receiver and incumbents C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson at running back. With an assortment of talent at the skill positions, the pressure is on the former first-round pick to step up and lead the Bills into the post-season for the first time since 1999. As expected, the results have been mixed two weeks into training camp. Watkins, the dynamic rookie chosen fourth overall after Buffalo traded up in the draft, has been electric. After injury-filled seasons one year ago, Spiller and Jackson are healthy and running well. But Manuels first week on the practice field was littered with incompletions, slow reads in the pocket and questionable decision-making. Manuel has made progress throughout Buffalos second week of camp. On Wednesday, he appeared to have more command in the pocket and connected with second-year receiver Robert Woods for a pair of impressive touchdowns in the red zone. He also connected with receiver Chris Hogan on a decisive throw in a tight window down the middle of the field. On Thursday, he was aggressive early in the practice session and found Watkins for a 99-yard touchdown down the left sideline. "We have been making strides," Manuel said. "Even in the dog days of last week, I felt like we were still making strides to get to this point. Its not always going to be perfect. The O-line has been doing a great job. Our communication has really picked up. I think thats just allowing us quarterbacks to have time to throw the ball downfield to our receivers." After displaying a conservative nature on the field as a rookie, Manuels aggressiveness in recent days has been encouraging. The quarterback said that he has watched film of top quarterbacks around the league — including Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson and Cam Newton — and gained more of an appreciation for taking chances down the field. "I think a lot of the throws that Ive started to make this year, at least attempted to make, I wasnt doing it last year," Manuel said. "I think instead of being more cautious ... our receivers, they want to make plays. They want the opportunity to make a big catch. I think watching a guy like Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees, they cut it loose. They allow their receivers to go out and make a play and earn their money. I think thats what Ive started to do." Manuel and the Bills still have a long way to go, but the quarterback feels that their progress is heading in the right direction. On Sunday, they get their first chance to prove it. "I think were progressing along the timeline that we want to be progressing," Manuel said. "Were still four weeks away from the opener in the regular season, so as long as we continue to put a brick in each day and get better and better, I think well be more than ready to go." Millers mind, however, was clearly elsewhere. When he left the stage area and moved to the back of the room to greet his wife, pro volleyball player Morgan Miller, and play with his baby boy, Nathaniel, the cameras hadnt caught up to him yet but Millers smile couldnt have been wider. "Theres a lot to World Cup and having your most important people around you is something that has always been important to me," Miller said later. "Before, I had Jake (Serino, a childhood friend) and sometimes family and my Uncle Mike has been a coach. ... But now I have my own family over here and its just the logical sort of step and I feel really, really good about it." Another reason Miller feels good is that the U.S. Ski Team has surrounded him with familiar faces on its coaching staff as the two-time overall World Cup winner and Olympic combined champion returns after taking last season off to let his surgically repaired left knee fully heal. The staff is led by Millers good friend Forest Carey and his uncle Mike Kenney, who has rejoined the team after a yearlong sabbatical. "Theyre just good people to have around for the team, too. It obviously benefits me but for everybody theres a benefit," said Miller, who will ski in Sundays giant slalom on Rettenbach glacier. "Those guys are really knowledgeable, they love the sport and theyve seen success at the highest level." Carey and Kenney were coaches on Millers breakaway personal team when he won his second overall title in 2008. "Its designed to keep Bode inspired and also to keep him accountable," U.S. mens head coach Sasha Rearick said. "t;Both of those guys do an amazing job.dddddddddddd" Millers former roommate on the circuit, Erik Schlopy, is an assistant coach on the technical team, and Miller noted a transformation in experience among the staff. "I cant speak highly enough of how far the team has come in the last 17 years since I first made the team," Miller said. "Theres been times where Ive been pretty down, and its been a fun process to be a part of." Of course, it wasnt just the staff whom Miller returned for, or even the Sochi Olympics in February. "Ive been to four (Olympics) before and I dont think one more is going to do much to change anything at this point," Miller said. "I came back because I had the chance to. ... Im doing it because I believe I can do it." Millers family situation -- he had his one-year wedding anniversary this month -- has coincided with an improved physical condition. He lost 20 pounds (9 kilograms) during his year off. All the changes helped Miller avoid thinking about retiring. "Im in a much more healthy place in general," he said. "Just motivation-wise, the balance in the rest of my life -- my fitness, my health, my body. Those are all things that make you want to retire. Right now all of those things are much better than theyve been in the last 10 years. Thats the biggest factor for me." As Miller spoke, scores of European journalists stuck microphones in his face, at one point nearly toppling over a table he was standing in front of. But Miller, who would once run away from such a scene, kept his composure. "You get better at every part of this," he said. "(The media attention) doesnt bother me as much as it used to. I wouldnt say its your skin getting thicker, just maturity does different things to you." cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

BANGKOK, Thailand -- Manny Pacquiaos trainer says the Filipino boxer will contemplate retirement if he fails to perform well against Brandon Rios this month. Freddie Roach said if the Rios fight "does not go well, we will seriously talk about his retirement," but that Pacquiao was training as well as ever for the Nov. 24 bout in Macau. Pacquiao is coming off successive defeats against Timothy Bradley in a much-criticized judges decision, and then a knockout at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez. A third successive defeat would put his career at the crossroads, and while Roach said performance levels were more important than results, he acknowledged serious thought would have to be given to the future of "Pac-man" if he does not return to his best in Macau. Pacquiao is juggling his boxing career with responsibilities as a Philippines congressman and other outside interests, and defeat could see him turn his attentions fully to his commitments outside the ring. "If it does not go well, we will seriously talk about his retirement and possibly going to politics," Roach said in a teleconference on Wednesday. "Its really hard to say until we see the fight, but I will be the first one to tell him to retire, and we have an agreement that as soon as I tell him that, he will retire." However Roach said "I dont see him slipping in the ring at all." The duo have been preparing in the southern city of General Santos City, which was not affected by the typhoon that hit the east coast of the Philippines last Friday. Roach said General Santos City remained hot and sunny as Typhoon Haiyan devastated more northern parts of the country, killing thousands and leaving more than half a million people homeless. His status as a national hero in the Philippines meant Pacquiao considered leaving the training camp to help relief efforts, but Roach said it was too close to the fight to alter preparations. "Its way too close to the fight, he needs to double down," Roach said, although he granted his fighter much of Wednesday off, giving him the chance to help out remotely. The brutal nature of the Marquez knockout, when Pacquiao fell face first to the canvas, raised questions about whether he could maintain the all-action, on-rushing style which propelled him to the top of boxing. Roach said he saw no sign of any inhibition or caution in his style so far during a scheduled 110 rounds of preparation. "I know people are skeptical about that. Manny is a realist. He accepts it. It does not bother him," Roach said. "If you dont think youre going to be knocked out, youve got the wrong sport." <a href="http://www.nikeflyknittrainer.de/flyknit-roshe-one-deutschland/nike-roshe-one-flyknit-damen.html">http://www.nikeflyknittrainer.de/flyknit-roshe-one-deutschland/nike-roshe-one-flyknit-damen.html</a>. -- Former Auburn and LPGA player Danielle Downey has died in a single-car accident. <a href="http://www.nikeflyknittrainer.de/flyknit-nike-schuhe/nike-flyknit-trainer1.html">http://www.nikeflyknittrainer.de/flyknit-nike-schuhe/nike-flyknit-trainer1.html</a>. A day after Samardzija was dealt from the Chicago Cubs to Oakland, a big league-high six Athletics were picked Sunday for the game at Target Field in Minnesota on July 15. That doesnt include Samardzija, selected as a National League All-Star. Major League Baseball said he is ineligible to play because of the league switch. The 29-year-old right-hander, who was 2-7 with a 2.83 ERA and 103 strikeouts for the Cubs, won his American League debut Sunday when he allowed one run in seven innings for a 4-2 victory over Toronto. He will be introduced with the NL players before the All-Star game; still to be decided is whether he wears a Cubs or As uniform -- or a generic NL jersey. "I wont get to pitch, which is a bummer, but thats all right," Samardzija said. "Ill just go through whatever ceremonies they have and just jump over to the AL dugout with an NL jersey on and have some fun with the six other dudes we have over there, which is exciting." Oakland, with the best record in the majors, has its most All-Stars since 1975: left-handers Sean Doolittle and Scott Kazmir; catcher Derek Norris; first baseman Brandon Moss; third baseman Josh Donaldson; and outfielder Yoenis Cespedes. "Its really cool," As manager Bob Melvin said. "We were hoping for something like this." Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, playing his 20th and final season, was chosen for his 14th All-Star team and will start for the ninth time. He gets reunited with Seattle second baseman Robinson Cano, his former double-play partner in New York. Mariano Rivera, the retiring Yankees reliever, was the centre of attention at last years All-Star game when the Mets hosted in Citi Field. Jeter could be in the spotlight this year. "All-Star game was in New York last year. Its a little bit different," Jeter said. "I dont go into it with any expectations. Just trying to enjoy myself and have fun with whoever is here." Among the big names bypassed entirely were slugger David Ortiz and closer Koji Uehara from World Series champion Boston, San Francisco catcher Buster Posey, and Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett. "I had a chance to talk with David, and he felt the four days of rest might be more advantageous to him," said Boston skipper John Farrell, the AL manager. "He was a pro about it. He spoke his mind and had a lot of input in the decisions." Also elected by fans to start for the AL were Detroit first baseman Miguel Cabrera, Donaldson, and outfielders Jose Bautista of Toronto, Adam Jones of Baltimore and Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels. Baltimores Matt Wieters, sidelined by season-ending elbow surgery on June 17, was elected to start at catcher and willl be replaced by Kansas Citys Salvador Perez.dddddddddddd Orioles bopper Nelson Cruz, tied for the major league home run lead with 27, was voted in by fans at designated hitter after serving a 50-game suspension last year for violating baseballs drug agreement. The big year could lead to a large contract for Cruz, who left Texas for an $8 million, one-year deal with Baltimore. "Its always a blessing when you make the All-Star game," Cruz said. "Im happy because I know I made the right decision." Elected to the NL starting lineup were Arizona first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, Philadelphia second baseman Chase Utley, Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, Milwaukee third baseman Aramis Ramirez and St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina along with outfielders Carlos Gomez of Milwaukee, Andrew McCutchen of Pittsburgh and Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka and Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu, a pair of rookies off to superlative starts, were among 26 first-time All-Stars and 24 foreign-born players. Tanaka and setup man Dellin Betances are the first Yankees rookie pitchers to be picked as All-Stars since Spec Shea in 1947. Surprise selections included Pittsburgh utilityman Josh Harrison and left-hander Tony Watson, and St. Louis reliever Pat Neshek, who is from Minnesota and began his career with the hometown Twins. "I shook head my head for a while. I couldnt believe it," Neshek said, his voice cracking with emotion. "Its awesome to be rewarded like that and to get the chance to play against the best." Milwaukee closer Francisco Rodriguez made his fifth All-Star team, his first since 2009. Bautista, at 5.68 million, received the most votes for the second time in four years. Tulowitzki topped the NL at 5.35 million. Other players omitted despite strong credentials were Cincinnati pitcher Alfredo Simon, Seattle third baseman Kyle Seager and San Diego closer Huston Street, who had converted 23 consecutive save chances before allowing a tying home run in the ninth Saturday. Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun and Toronto outfielder Melky Cabrera, who like Cruz served lengthy drug-related suspensions, also were left out. The candidates in online voting for the final AL spot are all pitchers: Houstons Dallas Keuchel, Clevelands Corey Kluber, Los Angeles Garrett Richards, Detroits Rick Porcello and Chicagos Chris Sale. Vying for the NL spot are Miami third baseman Casey McGehee, Colorado first baseman Justin Morneau, Washington third baseman Anthony Rendon, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo and Atlanta outfielder Justin Upton. ------ AP Sports Writer Jimmy Golen and AP freelance writers Mike Cranston, Brian Hall, Michael Wagaman and Jeff Melnick contributed to this report. <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysnfl.top/">cheap jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.chinacheapjerseys.top/">wholesale nfl jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.cheapnfljerseyssale.cc/">cheap jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.cheapjerseysnfl.top/">cheap nfl jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.cheapjerseysstitched.us.com/">wholesale jerseys</a> ' ' '

MIAMI -- Veteran cornerback and rookie negotiator Cortland Finnegan sealed a deal Friday with the Miami Dolphins. Representing himself in contract talks, the eight-year veteran found a new home after an injury-plagued 2013 with the St. Louis Rams. Finnegan, who has no agent, said he spoke with a lot of general managers and head coaches around the NFL, but his only free-agent visit was to Miami. "It was a great experience," he said. "If I was like four years in the league, it would be cool to have an agent. The older you, you can understand where your market value is." The Dolphins also signed another ex-Ram, guard Shelley Smith. He agreed to a $5.5 million, two-year deal, with $1.5 million guaranteed, then left town headed for his wedding. Smith reinforces a troubled offensive line that gave up a franchise-record 58 sacks last year. Four of the five starters have departed, including tackle Jonathan Martin and guard Richie Incognito, who were involved in the teams bullying scandal. Smith started eight games over the past two seasons for the Rams, including two last year. Finnegan, who was an All-Pro in 2008, started only five games last year, when he was sidelined by a hamstring injury and then an eye injury that required surgery. The Rams signed him to a $50 million, five-year contract in 2012 but recently released him, his career in apparent in decline. "You can never know how much a guy has left in the tank if hes injured," Finnegan said. "I was injured most of the year. Now its a clean slate. Im on a new team with great coaches, and Ive got to let my play do the talking." Finnegan is known for drawing flags and fines, a sensitive issue for the Dolphins after their experience with Incognito, who had a reputation for dirty play. "I play with an edge, and Ive learned to control that throughout the years," he said. "At the same time, I want to bring that same tenacity and spunk and everything I had that maybe I was missing. A lot of people said something was missing, and maybe thats what it was. You dont want to hurt the team, but you want to play with the edge that got you where youre at." General manager Dennis Hickey said the Dolphins like Finnegans zeal on the field. "He has been a tough playmaker over his career, with a veteran presence and leadership and love and passion for the game," Hickey said. Finnegan is expected to complete for playing time with Jamar Taylor and Will Davis, who saw little action as rookies last season. The Dolphins are looking for a starter opposite Brent Grimes, a Pro Bowl cornerback re-signed last week to a $32 million, four-year deal. "Grimes is one of the best in the NFL, in my opinion, if not the best," Finnegan said. "Im excited to play with him and learn from him." Grimes and Finnegan are both 5-foot-10. A native of Milton, Fla., Finnegan was a seventh-round draft pick with the Tennessee Titans, where he spent his first six NFL seasons. He has 18 career interceptions, with four returned for touchdowns. <a href="http://www.thethunderfanshop.com/kyle-singler-womens-jersey/">Kyle Singler Jersey</a>.The 1992 United States mens Olympic basketball team, otherwise known as the "Dream Team," didnt have a specific moment of glory. <a href="http://www.thethunderfanshop.com/dj-augustin-womens-jersey/">D.J. United on Saturday night. The shutout, just Columbus third of the season, prevented United (6-4-4) from leaping above the New England Revolution into first place in the Eastern Conference. Columbus (4-5-6) finished the season series against United with a win and two draws. The Crew won just once in its last 12 matches overall. Clark saved the penalty simply by remaining upright. Espindola attempted to fake the goalkeeper into a dive, and then chipped his kick straight at Clark, who caught it easily for his third stop of the game. Referee Hilario Grajeda awarded the kick after he ruled that Columbus defender Bernardo Anor handled the ball inside the penalty area. Columbus earned the draw despite missing injured leading scorer Federico Higuain (hamstring) and Costa Rican World Cup call-ups Waylon Francis and Giancarlo Gonzalez. The Crew were also without forward AAlvaro Rey, who was acquired Friday from Toronto FC for Dominic Oduro.dddddddddddd United, which was without suspended midfielder Perry Kitchen, lost striker Eddie Johnson in the 58th minute to an apparent injury to his right leg. Columbus created more of the second-half chances. In the 55th minute, United goalkeeper Bill Hamid dove left to block Anors firm, low strike before Ethan Finlay fired his rebound effort well high. Later, D.C. defender Bobby Boswell deflected Ben Speas shot from the right just inches outside the left post. United almost got a break when Columbus defender Tony Tchani nearly deflected a cross into his own goal. But on the other end, Hamid pushed away Adam Bedells strike in the 83rd minute after Finlay found Bedell from the right side. Clark appeared to take down D.C.s Steve Birnbaum inside the penalty area in the 89th minute, but Grajeda didnt rule a foul. Clark then dove to his right to save Jared Jeffreys low shot early into stoppage time, and shortly after stopped Espindola.

IRVING, Texas - Dez Bryant smiled through a no comment, yet the questions kept coming about a new contract with the Dallas Cowboys. Before long, the star receiver said a deal wasnt about money, which prompted someone to ask what it was about. Its all about respect, said Bryant, who was sitting at his locker when reporters showed up in a mostly empty room during the Cowboys bye week Wednesday. I am a very loyal person, but just dont test my loyalty. Its probably too early to call that a warning shot for owner Jerry Jones. But Bryant did recently replace agent Eugene Parker with a combination of Jay Zs Roc Nation management company and agent Tom Condon. After saying before the season that he didnt want negotiations to continue once the games began, Bryant changed course. He said he was willing for talks to resume as he wraps up a rookie deal worth $11.8 million over five years.Meanwhile, Jones faced questions whether he was hesitant to give Bryant an expensive long-term contract because of issues away from the field that plagued his first two years in the league.None of the above bothered Bryant in London against Jacksonville, when he set a franchise record for yards receiving in a quarter with 158 with two touchdowns in the second period of Dallas 31-17 win. The Cowboys next game is at the New York Giants on Nov. 23.People are going to say a lot of different things about you and if you get caught up in whats going on outside this building and that takes away from what your preparation is, youre probably not going to be your best, coach Jason Garrett said. And I think Dez understands that.Jones has said for months he wants a long-term deal with Bryant, and he says that answers the question about off-the-field concerns. He represents the star. We want him to be proud of that, Jones said. Im real impressed with how hes evolved over the last several years, or we wouldnt be in serious contract negotiations with him.Executive vice-president Stephen Jones said the Cowboys havent had discussions with Bryants new management team. Bryant, who has turned down several offers, has a base salary of $1.8 million this season.Detroits Calvin Johnson, the leagues highest-paid receiver, has a $113 million contract with $49 million guaranteed. Bryant says the guaranteed money is an important factor for him.I didnt make it a big deal my rookie year, my first year about getting to camp, Bryant said. I remember when people thought I was going to hold out and I didnt. I just wanted to get in and show that Im worthy of being in the NFL and I can be a dominant player.Bryant also made it clear early in his career that he appreciated Jerry Jones sticking with him through lawsuits over unpaid jewelry bills, a saggy pants episode with police at an upscale Dallas mall, and a domestic violence complaint involving his mother. But what has long been viewed as a father-son relationship is evolving into a business partnership. Not saying that theyre not for me or anybody is for me, but Im used to a family atmosphere, said Bryant, closing in on his third straight 1,000-yard season with at least 10 touchdowns. But we got money involved, so they got to make sure that theyre making the right investment. And I got to make sure that Im worthy of everything. The Cowboys had severe salary cap issues last off-season and also have NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray in the final year of his contract. While they could use the franchise tag on a player to put off a decision on a longer contract, at some point Dallas will have to pay to keep both along with quarterback Tony Romo.At the end of the day, I want to win, Bryant said. Ottawas Jason Spezza and Craig Anderson did their best to block that effort. Spezza scored twice and Anderson made 45 saves as the Senators topped the Islanders 4-1 on Tuesday night. The Senators (34-31-14) will still miss the post-season for the first time since 2011 and just the third time since 1996. They were making their first appearance this season at Nassau Coliseum, and the Islanders won the previous two meetings in Ottawa. "It feels good to put together a team effort and come away with the win," Anderson said. "We played well." Matt Kassian scored an empty-net goal at 19:48, his first this season. Spezza, the Senators captain, had the chance for a hat trick, but instead passed to Kassian. Frans Nielsen scored the lone goal for the Islanders with his career-best 25th in the teams home finale. Anders Nilsson made 28 saves for the Islanders (31-37-11), who wont reach the playoffs for the sixth time in seven years. They finished 13-19-9 at home. "The effort has been there and will continue to be there," Islanders defenceman Travis Hamonic said. "Were going to keep pushing and playing hard until the end." Spezza opened the scoring on a tip-in at 12:45 of the second. Nielsen then tied it 22 seconds into the third. Rookie defenceman Kevin Czuczman and Josh Bailey had assists, giving Bailey points in six straight games. Spezzas go-ahead goal at 12:45 of the third came when his shot edged under crossbar behind Nilsson. Ales Hemsky, who assisted on both of Spezzas goals, added his 13th at 14:26 of the third to make it 3-1. The Islanders qualified for the post-season last year for the first time since 2007 and lost to the top-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins in a tough six-game opening-round series. But they never found firm footing this season after trading captain John Tavares longtime linemate Matt Moulson to Buffalo for Thomas Vanek on Oct. 27. They subseequently traded Vanek to Montreal at the March 5 deadline.dddddddddddd The Islanders also had to contend with a litany of injuries to key players, particularly veteran defenceman Lubomir Visnovsky, who missed most of the season with a concussion and starting goaltender Evgeni Nabokov. Then, Tavares suffered a season-ending knee injury during the Winter Olympics in February. The Islanders have dressed at least nine rookies in their last nine games in which theyve gone 5-2-2. They are 7-4-2 in their last 13 contests. There are 11 rookies on the current roster: Defencemen Calvin de Haan, Scott Mayfield, Matt Donovan and Czuczman in addition to forwards Brock Nelson, Brett Gallant, Mike Halmo, Anders Lee, John Persson and Ryan Strome plus Nilsson. All but an injured de Haan played against the Senators. "Im proud of the young guys, they are playing hard," Islanders coach Jack Capuano said. "When we get our team back next year and play the way we can play, I think we can make a push and get back to the dance." Gallant, 25, made his NHL debut. He had 245 penalty minutes in 56 games for Bridgeport of the AHL. The feisty forward levelled Kassian with a single punch midway through the first period. "He caught me with one," said Kassian, sporting a postgame bruise under his right eye. "Sometimes that happens in a fight, you get punched right in the face." The Islanders conclude their season with road games at Montreal, New Jersey and Buffalo. Ottawa hosts New Jersey and Toronto before finishing at Pittsburgh. NOTES: Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck left during the first period with an upper-body injury and didnt return. ... Ottawa was without defencemen Colin Greening and Jared Cowen with lower-body injuries, plus forward Bobby Ryan (sports hernia). ... Defenceman Thomas Hickey is the only Islander to play all 79 games this season. ... The Islanders are 25-10-4 when they score at least three goals and 6-27-7 when they do not.

PRETORIA, South Africa -- The chief prosecutor in Oscar Pistorius murder trial on Monday alleged numerous inconsistencies in the athletes account of how he killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last year, seeking to show that the athlete is lying when he says he shot her by mistake. Chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel also accused Pistorius of tailoring his testimony to fit the evidence at the scene. Pistorius denied the accusations. Nel alleged that the Olympic runner changed his aim with his 9 mm pistol to ensure that he hit Steenkamp as she fell back against a magazine rack in a toilet cubicle. Pistorius said the claim was not true, one of many denials he has issued in four days of unrelenting cross-examination in a pivotal stage of the trial that is being broadcast on television and followed globally by people who once admired the double-amputee runner for his international achievements on the track. Nels methodical questioning put Pistorius under intense pressure, and the athlete sometimes became distressed, which in turn only prompted his accuser to ask him if he was using his emotional displays to mask his difficulty in answering the questions. Pistorius testified he fired four times through the closed toilet door in his home last year after hearing a "wood" sound that he mistook for the door about to open. He said he thought an intruder was about to come out and attack him. Pistorius said that, in retrospect, the noise he probably heard was the magazine holder being moved by his girlfriend. Nel said Pistorius killed Steenkamp intentionally after a fight and is lying about fearing an intruder. He said Pistorius heard Steenkamp, struck by the first shot, fall against the magazine rack and that he used that sound to adjust his aim. "Im saying you heard the magazine rack and you changed your aim," Nel said to the Paralympic champion. Steenkamp was hit by three of the shots, prosecutors say, while one missed. "I wouldnt have heard anyone fall inside of the toilet while I was shooting," Pistorius replied to Nel, though directing his gaze to Judge Thokozile Masipa, who will decide on the verdict. The athlete faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted of premeditated murder. He twice broke down crying, once when he was asked to repeat the order to leave that he says he shouted to the perceived intruder before firing through the door. Pistorius sobbed and wailed again when Nel insisted that he knew he was firing at his girlfriend, who was allegedly hiding from him after they fought in the pre-dawn hours of Feb. 14, 2013. "I did not fire at Reeva," Pistorius said, crying as Masipa announced the days second unscheduled break. After the judge left the courtroom, Pistorius stood sobbing with his body trembling and turned away from the gallery. Nel also tried to pin Pistorius on whether he intended to shoot at the intruder, but Pistorius said he did not intend to do so and that he was terrified at the time. "I didnt have time to think about what I wanted to do," Pistorius said. That prompted Nel to question whether Pistorius was changing his legal strategy from "self-defence" to "involuntary action" and he later said Pistorius did not fire a warning shot. Pistorius said that when he shot he had no idea who was behind the door, in response to Nels remark that he didnt know whether a child, an unarmed burglar or more than one person could have been in the toilet. "You never gave them a chance, in your version," Nel said, building the prosecution case that Pistorius shot to kill. Pistorius was also accused of tailoring his version to fit evidence at the scene, with Nel painstakingly listing alleged inconsistencies in the account and alleging that Pistorius had "concocted" his version of the shooting. "Youre tailoring your version as youre sitting there," Nel said. He accused Pistorius of being a stickler for detail on some matters, in contrast to his frequent statements on the witness stand that he could not remember aspects of his testimony. Nel noted that Pistorius earlier said he warned Steenkamp to call police about an intruder in a whisper, contradicting later testimony that he spoke in a "low tone" and the prosecutor also said blood spatter evidence indicated that the athletes statement about the location of a duvet in the bedroom was false. Pistorius has said the duvet was on the bed, and that police photographs of the bed cover on the floor suggest that police moved it there after the shooting. Nel said a pattern of blood drops on the duvet and on the carpet nearby show that it was on the floor before police arrived, and that its location amounts to evidence that the couple had been having an argument. <a href="http://www.shoplakersonline.com/Wilt-Chamberlain-Jersey/">Wilt Chamberlain Lakers Jersey</a>. WASHINGTON - Washingtons Nicklas Backstrom and Carolinas Anton Khudobin had a similar opinion of Backstroms winning goal.Luck was involved.Backstrom scored off the rebound of Alex Ovechkins shot at 4:46 of overtime to lift the Capitals to a 4-3 victory over the Hurricanes on Saturday night.Ovechkin skated in and let loose a blast from the right point. Khudobin made the save, but the puck went to Backstrom in the left circle, and he fired in his fourth goal of the season.I think I was just lucky to be in the right spot, to be honest with you. You never know where its coming, Backstrom said.It was a tough ending for Khudobin, who stopped 35 shots while playing in place of Cam Ward on the second night of back-to-back games.I tried to focus on the first shot, he said. The rebound was unlucky, I would say.The assist was the 400th of Ovechkins career. In big games, you want your big players to step up, Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. Thats what those guys do. They like the spotlight, they want to be in it, and they usually come through. The Capitals squandered a 3-1 lead in the third period on goals by Carolinas Eric Staal and Elias Lindholm.Troy Brouwer, Jay Beagle and Eric Fehr also scored for Washington, and John Carlson had two assists.Justin Peters, signed by Washington as a free agent in July after playing in 68 games for the Hurricanes from 2009-14, stopped 24 shots in his first game against Carolina. After losing five straight, the Capitals won on consecutive nights.Riley Nash had a goal and an assist, and Justin Faulk had two assists for Carolina, which had won four straight.Staal pulled Carolina within 3-2 when he converted a pass from Jeff Skinner at 8:38 of the third period. Faulks wrist shot from the left point was deflected by Lindholm and eluded Peters with 6:07 left in regulation. It could have deflated us, Fehr said of Carolinas rally, but we kept going and got a big goal at the end.The Hurricanes trailed 2-1 after one period despite being outshot 18-3. Khudobin made several point-blank saves as the Capitals repeatedly swarmed the Carolina zone.Washington broke through on a power play at 7:26 when Brouwers shot deflected into the air. Carolinas Patrick Dwyer attempted to swat the puck out of danger, but instead sent it past Khudobin. The Capitals made it 2-0 when Beagle fielded Carlsons shot off the back wall and banked the puck in off Khudobin for his first point of the season. It was good to see that the guys kept fighting to get the point, but if we start out like that its hard to fight back, Faulk said. We were fortunate to get to overtime.Carolina made it 2-1 with a power-play goal by Nash, who beat Peters high on a drive from the left circle with 49 seconds left.We didnt put them away, Trotz said. In the first we could have been up more than a goal, thats for sure. We had some great looks, we had a lot of chances and they sort of hung around.Fehr made it 3-1 at 16:48 of the second period.NOTES: Ovechkin ranks second on the Capitals franchise assists list behind Michal Pivonka (41. ... ATLANTA -- The Colorado Rockies began another day without Carlos Gonzalez in their starting lineup with the more daunting knowledge Nolan Arenado will be missing for much longer. The Rockies placed Arenado on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, one day after he broke his left middle finger on a head-first slide into second base. The team recalled infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Arenado was hitting .305 with six homers and 28 RBIs. A decision on surgery or other treatment options wont be made until the third baseman is examined by a specialist. Arenado said Saturday he knew the finger was broken as soon as he made the slide in Fridays 3-2 loss to the Braves. "I kind of feel like Im letting these guys down a little bit," Arenado said. "That hurts a little bit." Manager Walt Weiss said he knew Arenado was upset "so I shot him a text late last night." "At some point, if youre lucky enough to play long enough, youre probably going to have to deal with an injury," Weiss said. "And sometimes a substantial one. Hes got to keep his mind strong and be ready to help us when he gets ready." Charlie Culberson, who replaced Arenado on Friday, was starting at third base Saturday. Meanwhile, Gonzalez missed his third straight start with a swollen left index finger.ddddddddddddWeiss said he didnt want to give Gonzalez a full game but said the outfielder was available to pinch-hit. Gonzalez was on deck to pinch-hit when Fridays game ended. Rutledge has played second base and shortstop this season. He was placed on the 15-day DL on May 2 with a viral infection, then was optioned to Colorado Springs on May 13. The addition of Rutledge gives Colorado the flexibility to move D.J. LeMahieu from second base to third. "Weve got some moving parts here so well mix and match at little bit," Weiss said. "Some of those things tend to work themselves out, but weve got some options. "Sure, D.J.s got some history at third base. Hes playing a Gold Glove second base. You dont necessarily want to move a guy thats playing dominant defence like he is, but for our club that may be something we look to do." Right fielder Michael Cuddyer started 150 games at third with Minnesota from 2002-10. "Ill play anywhere anyone ever tells me," Cuddyer said before adding: "But there are some positions that for the betterment of the team ..." NEW YORK – A pall loomed over the tight quarters of the New York Rangers dressing room Tuesday afternoon, mere hours after their hopes of capturing Lord Stanleys mug dimmed to the very faintest light. A third straight loss has them staring dead in the eye of elimination and try as they might, belief of some valiant comeback was difficult to summon on this day. The faces were long, sour and glum ahead of Game 4 at MSG on Wednesday night, to be expected in light of a gaping 3-0 series hole. "Im not going to lie to you, its a tough day today," said a particularly downcast Brad Richards, the 34-year-olds dreams of a second Cup fading dramatically after a 3-0 loss in Game 3. "I mean, the goal is to get through today and [Wednesday] will be a Stanley Cup playoff game-day and Im sure everybody will be in a lot better mood, a lot better outlook to try to get in and win a game." "Belief is everything," Martin St. Louis said, his beard speckled with grey in the final days of the postseason. "Right now, its a big mountain to climb but once you get into battle … first shift you get into battle, get into the game, win a game and now its 3-1 and you go from there. You cant look at trying to win four. Youre trying to win one." Despite the appearance of a one-sided series, the Rangers know full well that this Cup Final has been anything but; two overtime games that couldve gone either way followed by Jonathan Quicks brilliance in a Game 3 during which they controlled puck possession. But as Rangers coach Alain Vigneault put it – his mood predictably sour – none of that matters now. One game is all that counts. One more loss and hope of adding the first Cup in New York in 20 years dies a quiet death. "Whatever talk you might use, at the end of the day for us right now, its about one game," Vigneault said. "Thats as simple and logical and realistic as I can put it for you. We have to focus on one game and thats what were going to do." Though it matters little at this point, as stressed by Vigneault, the even nature of the series does offer the slightest bit of belief for the Rangers. Heavy underdogs coming into the series, theyve stood toe-to-toe with the Kings, felled by their opponents will under duress, unmatched depth and an unfortunate bounce or two. "Its not like weve been outplayed here – thats not been the case," said Henrik Lundqvist, appearing most at ease amongst a tense New York group. "Theyve been good, but I think weve been playing pretty good, as well. It comes down to a couple plays here and there. Thats been the difference in these games. But it starts with your belief and it starts with how you approach this game and the games after that. But they know its possible and we know its possible." Only four teams have ever rallied from a 3-0 series deficit, including L.A. in the opening round against San Jose. New York dug out from a 3-1 deficit itself in the second round against the Penguins, winning Game 7 on the road in Pittsburgh. This task, however, opposite maybe the most complete and mentally-tested team in the league, is almost beyond comprehension. Felled by Quicks 32 saves in Game 3, adjustments for the next one are simple for the head coach. "Score," said Vigneault, hopeful that the 28-year-old Kings goaltender wasnt locked in again on Wednesday night. A power play goal for a group thats managed one in 14 opportunities might be of help as well. "You keep repeating the process," added Richards, the Rangers centre held without a point through three games, "firing more on net, and youd expect eventually something is going to go in. For sure, you can always will words and battle and all that, you can talk about it, be better. The third period of Game 1, the ice was tilted, but overall the ice hasnt felt that tilted in this series. Theyre a calm, cool, collected team that doesnt get rattled and it just seems that theyre scoring at the right times and getting big saves at the right times." At their darkest point, the sky notably cloudy in midtown Manhattan, the Rangers were simply trying to summon some kind of light. "Its the waiting and thinking thats the tough part," Richards said. "Weve gotta get back in the battle and see where it goes." <a href="http://www.authenticramsgear.com/women-rob-havenstein-jersey/">Rob Havenstein Rams Jersey</a>. -- The Vancouver Whitecaps gave the expansion Montreal Impact a first-hand look at what their impressive force of attackers can do. <a href="http://www.authenticramsgear.com/women-nick-foles-jersey/">Nick Foles Youth Jersey</a>. Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron, San Jose Sharks forward Brent Burns and Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Duncan Keith have been named finalists for the 2013-14 NHL Foundation Player Award, presented to "an NHL player who applies the core values of hockey – commitment, perseverance and teamwork – to enrich the lives of people in his community." The 30 NHL clubs each submitted a nomination for their team and the finalists were selected by a judging panel. Bergerons community intitatives include “Patrices Pals,” a program that provides children from various youth organizations the opportunity to watch Bruins home games from a luxury suite. Among the charities that have participated are Boston Childrens Hospital, Defending the Blue Line, Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, Franciscan Hospital for Children, The Jimmy Fund, The Home for Little Wanderers and Massachusetts General Hospital. Burns has donated more than $1 million to Defending the Blue Line, which provides children of military families the opportunity to play hockey. He hosts guests in the “Burnzies Battalion” suite at SAP Center each season and his hockey equipment drives at Sharks Ice at San Jose are the organizations most lucrative fundraisers each year. Burns also shaved his infamous long hair and beard to raise $24,000 for DTBL and the Katie Moore Foundation this season, established by close friend and former teammate Dominic Moore to help those suffering from rare cancers. Keiths impact in the Chicago community is felt through his charity, Keith Relief. Keith and his wife assist others by alleviating some of the financial and emotional burdens of families and individuals during times of medical crises. Keith Relief has raised more than $250,000 through benefit concerts since 2012, with all proceeds benefiting the organization as well as Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. "It was a great exhibition of 60-minute football," first-year coach Bruce Arians said after the comeback from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit ended what would have been a tough extended road trip on a positive note. "The game is played for 60 minutes, and it doesnt matter really what goes on as long as you can maintain the chase that something good is going to happen," Arians added. "That fourth quarter was some of the best football weve played all year. It was just a matter of doing it. It was there to be done." The Cardinals pressured Glennon all game until the third-round draft pick out of North Carolina State made a costly mistake. Petersons first interception set up Arizonas first TD in six quarters. The other ended any chance of Glennon bringing the Bucs back after Jay Feelys 27-yard field goal snapped a 10-10 tie with 1:29 remaining. Starting in place of the benched Josh Freeman, Glennon was steady -- if not spectacular -- for most of the day to give Tampa Bay the type of performance it had been wanting from a quarterback. Freeman was declared inactive for the game and was not in uniform, instead watching the game from a suite at Raymond James Stadium. Coach Greg Schiano said it was a "mutual" decision. Freeman declined to comment as he left Raymond James Stadium. "With all the happenings of the week, it was the best thing for our team," Schiano said. "Theres stuff that Im not going to get into, but that was the best thing for our football team." Glennons day shifted suddenly when Peterson stepped in front of a pass intended for Vincent Jackson and returned the pick 11 yards to the Bucs 13. Fitzgerald beat cornerback Darrelle Revis on the next play for his 80th career TD reception with 3:06 left. Arians couldnt say enough about Peterson, a third-year cornerback with a knack for game-changing plays. "Im really surprised they threw toward him. And with a rookie quarterback, hes going to make you pay," the coach saaid.dddddddddddd "I think hes the best in the league. Some will argue that Darrelle is, but its not even close in my opinion." The Cardinals moved 29 yards after forcing a punt to win it. Palmer threw 19 yards to Jaron Brown on the first play of the drive, and an unnecessary roughness penalty on Bucs safety Dashon Goldson moved the ball to the Tampa Bay 9. Palmer overcame a slow start to complete 21 of 38 passes for 248 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Fitzgerald had six catches for 68 yards, all in the second half. Revis and Johnthan Banks had Tampa Bays interceptions, and Leonard Johnson set up Glennons first career TD pass by forcing a fumble that Gerald McCoy recovered at the Cardinals 41. "Its just an unfortunate way to end the game. The defence played great the whole game," Glennon said. "The offence looked good in the first half. At the end, I just cant make that throw. Definitely a learning experience, but also a tough one to swallow." Arizona had trouble moving the ball until Palmer got Fitzgerald involved in the third quarter. The seven-time Pro Bowler was matched up most of the day against Revis, and Palmer didnt even attempt to throw the ball his way in the first half. "That was bad ball in the first half all around, and our defence just kept fighting and fighting for us, kept the game manageable for us, and were so thankful those guys played their tail off," Fitzgerald said. "We lost a lot of bodies last week, and guys continued to step up in new roles, and thats what being a team is about." The Cardinals lost linebackers Sam Acho, Lorenzo Alexander and Alex Okafor to season-ending injuries during the previous weeks lopsided loss at New Orleans, then flew straight to Florida to practice in nearby Bradenton instead of returning home to prepare for the Bucs. Glennon was 24 of 43 for 193 yards, including an 8-yard TD pass to Mike Williams in the first quarter. He threw two interceptions and was sacked twice. Notes: Cardinals S Rashad Johnson was inactive after losing the tip of a finger making a tackle last week. NT Dan Williams also missed his second straight game due to the death of his father. ... Tampa Bays Doug Martin began the day second in the NFL in rushing. He was limited to 45 yards on 27 carries. ... Olympic sprinter Jeff Demps made his NFL debut for the Bucs. He had a 14-yard run on his only carry, caught one pass for 8 yards and returned three kickoffs for 69 yards. cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys cheapjerseyswholesale wholesale jerseys ' ' '

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Michael Frazier II scored 14 points, highly touted freshman Chris Walker had two crowd-pleasing dunks in his debut and No. 3 Florida beat Missouri 68-58 on Tuesday night. The Gators won their 14th consecutive game and extended a school record with their 28th straight victory at home. Frazier came up huge in the latest one. The sophomore drained three 3-pointers in a 2-minute span in the second half, giving Florida some breathing room in a tight, back-and-forth game. Patric Youngs driving layup with 4:10 remaining gave the Gators (20-2, 9-0 Southeastern Conference) a 58-48 lead. Missouris 3-point shooting kept the Tigers (16-6, 4-5) in it for much of the game. Missouri made 8 of 21 from behind the arc, but just 4 of 13 in the second half. The Tigers went more than 4 minutes without a point, a stretch that helped Florida build its biggest lead. Jabari Brown led the Tigers with 15 points while Jordan Clarkson added 14. Scottie Wilbekin finished with a career-high 19 points for the Gators. He was 13 of 16 from the free throw line, most of them down the stretch. Young chipped in 13 points and six rebounds. Florida coach Billy Donovan notched his 16th consecutive 20-win season. Only Syracuses Jim Boeheim and Dukes Mike Krzyzewski have longer active streaks. Donovans current team has some issues -- shaky free throw shooting and few long-range threats outside Frazier -- but the addition of Walker could increase Floridas chances of making another deep run in the NCAA tournament. A forward from Bonifay in Floridas panhandle, Walker sat out 12 games, or 40 per cent of the season, because the NCAA determined he "received preferential treatment from five people, including two agents." The NCAA said Walker and people close to him accepted free cellphones and service, airfare, lodging, meals and apparel while he was a prospect. He was ordered to donate the $270 received from the agents to a charity of his choice and serve 80 hours of community service. Walker, who failed to qualify academically and spent the fall taking online classes to gain eligibility, joined the team Dec. 14 and has been practicing since. His debut had been much-anticipated. Walker, who drew oohs and aahs with every move during pregame warm-ups, entered the game to a standing ovation with 11:28 remaining in the first half. His first few minutes on the court gave Florida fans even more to celebrate. Walker blocked two shots and pulled down a rebound in just 3 minutes. There was some obvious confusion, especially on the defensive end, but he showed surprising poise considering all the hype, the wait, the atmosphere and the opponent. He was even better in his second stint. Walker had two thunderous dunks in the final 2:07 of the half, finishing alley-oops from fellow freshman Kasey Hill. The second one had the OConnell Center rocking -- but just briefly. Brown hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer a few seconds later, giving Missouri a 28-25 lead. Billiga Nike Air Max 90 Herr . Even a declaration that City is now the dominant power in Manchester didnt seem so farfetched, albeit unusually eye-catching from a manager renowned for his intentionally bland public comments. Rather than attempting to set off a verbal skirmish with Manchester United, this was just a statement of fact on Monday by a manager with a spring in his step ahead of the biggest European game in the clubs long, but not so illustrious, history. Well, not compared with Uniteds. That could all be changing, Pellegrini predicts. Barcelonas previous trips to Manchester for competitive games have always been to Old Trafford, failing to win on four visits against United. But the Spanish champions will play a first competitive game against City on Tuesday, in the Champions League round of 16, facing a team third in the Premier League while United is fading in seventh and unlikely to qualify for European soccers elite competition next season. "If we only consider this season, there is just one club in Manchester and its ours," Pellegrini said in Spanish. "But you cannot forget what United has done in the previous years. We are aiming to keep growing by winning many trophies -- not just national but international trophies. We are fighting for four titles this year." Just 15 years ago, though, City was in the depths of the third tier of English soccer before embarking on an uneasy ascent back from the wilderness. After returning to the Premier League in 2002 and staying in business when it faced oblivion, the wealth of Abu Dhabis ruling family has enabled City to become the biggest spenders in world soccer since 2008. The takeover had City supporters starrt to dream about knocking United off its pedestal, but despite winning the Premier League in 2012, only since Alex Fergusons retirement from United last year has the balance of power looked as if it was seriously shifting.dddddddddddd "We have to be patient because you cannot change the team from one day to another," Pellegrini said. "We have to keep the philosophy of the style and for that you need time." Under David Moyes, United seems to be fading as a force on the pitch, just as Barcelonas cloak of invincibility has slipped away since manager Pep Guardiola left in 2012. Yet while Barcelona is on top of the Spanish standings, in a three-way battle for the title with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, United is not a Premier League threat -- for now. But it will take far longer for City to usurp Uniteds commercial might or global fan base. A victory over Barcelona would go some way to enhancing Citys global credibility after the expensively assembled squad slipped out of the Champions League at the group stage in the previous two seasons when Roberto Mancini was still in charge. Mancinis departure after last season ended without a trophy and enabled City to bring in a more composed manager who has enjoyed a tranquil first season at the helm. "This club is trying to develop in all areas, and so far we have a good season, but we must finish that way," Pellegrini said. City midfielder Yaya Toure left Barcelona just before the Catalans went on to sweep five trophies in 2011 alone. Toure has only won the Premier League and FA Cup at City, but sees a victory over Barcelona as an opportunity to show there is more to come from this team. "Barcelona are at the top level in the world and if we want to move on and one day be one of the top clubs in the world, we have to play against those teams," Toure said. cheap nfl jerseys wholesale jerseys cheap jerseys cheapjerseyswholesale wholesale jerseys ' ' '
