REGINA -- Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall jokes that if former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar moves to the province, Lesnar can pretty much pick any house he wants. Wall made the comment in a speech to a Regina business crowd that included Lesnar. The U.S. wrestler and retired mixed martial artist says he was visiting his brothers farm in Saskatchewan and decided he wanted to hear what the premier had to say. Lesnar says he loves farming and Saskatchewan and eventually wants to move to the province full time. It seems a far cry from 2010, when Lesnar fell ill on a hunting trip to Manitoba and criticized Canadian health care as being no better than in a Third World country. Lesnar says the digestive disorder with which he was eventually diagnosed could have happened anywhere and the experience wont deter him from moving to Saskatchewan. <a href="http://www.2015rosherunsaleuk.com/Red-White-Nike-Roshe-Run-Womens-Shoes-UK-Nike84076-8.html">Red White Roshe Run Womens Nike Shoes UK</a>. Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca! Hi Kerry! I enjoy your responses to the questions/comments put before you. I have an interference question. I am very often puzzled as to why forcing someone offside at the attacking blueline is not considered interference, resulting in a minor penalty. It disrupts play every bit as much as an icing. Like firing the puck over the glass, it may or may not be intentional, but the result is the same - stopping play. Could situations like these become a discretionary decision by a linesman where an advantage is given and no offside is called? Thanks Kerry,Tony McKeon, Leaf fan in Kelowna Tony: The truth of the matter is forcing a player offside at the blue line is an interference violation found in rule 56.2: "A minor penalty shall be imposed on a player who shall cause an opponent who is not in possession of the puck to be forced off-side, causing a stoppage of play. If this action causes a delayed off-side (and not necessarily a stoppage in play), then the application of a penalty for interference is subject to the judgment of the Referee." The first line of the rule is very definitive stating a minor penalty shall be assessed (not might or maybe). These strong words however have little bite when it comes to the application and standard of enforcement of this rule. There is often reluctance on the part of the Refs to apply this penalty unless the interference is extreme and obvious in nature. Incidental contact along the blue line should never be called but a deliberate bump or push to place an attacker in an offside position that causes a stoppage of play should (shall) always be called. An expectation placed on the Officials by the majority of the hockey world is for them to identify and call "good penalties" by utilizing "sound judgment". The unspoken word that the official is left with is to determine what a "good" penalty is? On a scale of one to ten, pushing a player offside might not come close to the value of a trip, high-stick or obvious major infraction. Thoughts like this can play with the Officials head and affect his judgment. Ask yourself if this is a "penalty" that would want called late in a game or overtime? Some might say, "A penalty is a penalty" while others espouse, "Let them play and dont call the ticky-tacky stuff!" Whatever position you choose to take I can tell you that the players will break any and every rule that they are allowed to get away with. The best deterrent for players to adhere to the rules is the fear that the Referee will call a penalty when they cross the line. When the Refs demonstrate sound judgment and enforce the rules (no matter the score or time in the game) we need to support them; even if its calling an interference penalty for pushing a player off-side and causing a stoppage in play! I also received a question this morning from a friend of mine down here in Philadelphia Flyer country. I wish to include my answer here for those that might have been watching the Flyers-Panthers game last night. Kerry; I hope all is well with you. I have a question for you about something that happened last night in the Flyers-Panthers game, officiated by Kelly Sutherland (one of the best in the business today, in my opinion) and Darcy Burchell. In case you didnt see the game, heres a brief synopsis. Philadelphias Jay Rosehill was called for a delayed-penalty roughing minor behind the play. The Flyers touched up for the stoppage and Rosehill started to skate toward the penalty box. As he did, a fracas ensued at centre ice. Rosehill saw it, left the box and jumped into the scrum. After Sutherland and Burchell conferred with each other, they skated over to Flyers head coach Craig Berube. According to Berube, he was given a choice between a four-minute 5-on-4 or a two-minute 5-on-3. (Rosehill also got a 10-minute misconduct in addition to a pair of separate roughing minors and there were offsetting minors to Phillys Zac Rinaldo and Floridas Tomas Kopecky). My question to you: Was this handled correctly by Sutherland and Burchell? Was there ever a circumstance where you gave a coach a choice between penalties? Berube said after the game that he does not recall that happening before in his career. Thanks!Bill Meltzer Hi Bill: I have had the same situation more than once during my career. When multiple minor penalties are assessed at the same stoppage of play to players of both teams the option presented to the coach is which minor penalty he would want to be eliminated (sawed off) for purpose of the coincidental minor penalty rule. If Berube preferred to play 5-on-3 for two minutes versus a man down for four minutes, Referee Kelly Sutherland would have treated one of Jay Rosehills minor penalties as coincidental with Tomas Kopekys minor penalty. That would have left Zac Rinaldo and Rosehill serving one minor each for the Flyers on the clock. By choosing the more obvious option (Zac Rinaldos minor penalty was treated as coincidental with Tomas Kopeckys minor) the Flyers were left to play one man short for four minutes as a result of Jay Rosehills double minor penalty. Rosehills double minor would then be placed on the game time clock. I have never seen a coach prefer the 5-on-3 but the choice is theirs to make. <a href="http://www.raidersproshop.us.com/raiders-player-4-jersey/">Derek Carr Jersey</a>. When a man bumped into Hernandez while dancing, spilling his drink, that may have been the last straw. Authorities say the former New England Patriots star followed the man and his friends, then opened fire on their car, killing two men and wounding a third.October 1st of 1980 wasnt a particularly special day in Blue Jays history. It was the final home game of the regular season at old Exhibition Stadium. The Jays were days away from wrapping up a 67-95 season. On this day, there were but 12,426 fans in the stands to watch the culmination of a fifth straight losing season. The fans on hand probably didnt even realize they were witnessing something special, something unique. Not the final score. Detroit out slugged the Blue Jays 11-7. So what was it about this game? Well it was the final start of the incredible, yet semi tragic career of Mark Fidrych. On this day the man-child they called the "Bird" went five innings giving up five runs, four of those earned. The Jays effectively ended his day by scoring four runs in the fifth. Ernie Whitt keying the rally with a three run homer, the last "Round Tripper" Fidrych would ever surrender. Fidrych gutted it out through that fifth inning and managed to get the win, to finish his season at (2-3). The starter for the Blue Jays that day was a 23-year-old Dave Stieb. He got torched for seven hits and six earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings and took the loss to fall to (12-15). Greatness was yet to come for Stieb who was in just his second season in the Majors, his first full campaign. For Fidrych, we were just left with memories and the lingering question of how great he might have been. Flash back to May 15th of 1976. The Tigers were home to Cleveland. Their scheduled starter that day had the flu. The manager, Ralph Houk "the Major" of Yankees fame, handed the ball to a 21-year-old long lanky right hander, who reminded a minor league coach of his at Lakeland of the legendary Sesame Street character "Big Bird". All Fidrych did was pitch a complete game two-hitter as he out-dueled Clevelands Pat Dobson in a 2-1 Tigers victory. There were 14,583 people on hand for the game. Remember that number. There were some great Blue Jays and Canadian baseball connections in that game. Rusty Staub was in right field for Detroit. Alan Ashby, a Blue Jay a year later was catching for Cleveland and the two DHs - the Tigers Willie Horton and the Indians Rico Carty - played with the Jays as well. For Fidrych this was only the beginning of one of most magical seasons in baseball history. After losing his next start at Fenway in yet another complete game, 2-0 to the great Luis Tiant, Fidrych would go on to reel off seven straight victories He was more than just a pitcher though, he was a fun loving unassuming kid who just loved playing the game. He would talk to the ball and carefully groom the mound before every inning. He caught the baseball world by sttorm.dddddddddddd. Fidrych appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated twice and was the first athlete ever to appear on the cover of "Rolling Stone" Magazine. In his first 13 starts, Fidrych worked an unbelievable 120 1/3 innings. If you do the math, thats over nine innings per start. How is that possible? Well three times over that span Houk let him go 11 innings. On June the 28th, he was featured in a Monday Night baseball national telecast, Fidrych beat the Yankees 5-1 in just an hour and 51 minutes. Fidrych would go on to start the All-Star game for the American League in his 12th Major League start. He would go on to finish the season at (19-9) for Detroit with a 2.34 ERA. But it was some of his other numbers that were truly astounding. Fidrych made 29 starts from mid-May till the end of the season. He pitched 24 complete games including four shutouts and pitched 250 1/3 innings. Pitchers today are proud just to hit 200 innings. On May 31st, he pitched a game that lasted one hour and 48 minutes. Then in his next start, he bested that taking just one hour and 46 minutes. Another unusual thing about Fidrych was he had his own personal catcher. He was 24- year-old Bruce Kimm, a rookie who played his first game with the Tigers just two weeks before Fidrych made his first start. They worked so well together in that first start Houk kept them as a battery all season. I dont know if that would ever happen today. As great as he was for Detroit that season, the Tigers still finished up the track at 74-87. Somehow, though he was voted Rookie of the Year, he didnt win the Cy Young too. That honour went to the Orioles Jim Palmer. But Fidrychs success on the diamond would be short lived. He injured his knee in the spring of 1977, and later in that season damaged his shoulder. Times being what they were, and medical advances in the treatment of arm injuries were still in their infancy, it wasnt discovered till 1985 that the "Bird" had a damaged rotator cuff. He finished his career with a (29-19) record and 3.10 ERA and 34 complete games in just 58 starts. This is the really incredible number. When Roger Clemens, one of the All-time greats pitched for the Blue Jays in 1997 and 1998, attendance barely increased on days he was on the mound at Rogers Centre. Yet in 1976, a year in which the Tigers drew 1,467,020 fans, more than half of that number showed up for the 18 games Fidrych pitched in. That is incredible. So if you were one of the few who were at Exhibition Stadium on Oct. 1, 1980 consider yourself lucky. You saw the final appearance of one of the most unique talents and colourful characters the baseball world has ever seen. <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysauthentic.us.com/">wholesale jerseys authentic</a> <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysnflcheap.us.com/">wholesale jerseys nfl cheap</a> <a href="http://www.cheapmlssoccerjerseys.com/">cheap jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.cheapjerseyschinass.us.com/">Cheap Jerseys china</a><a href="http://www.cheapjerseysworld.us.com/">wholesale jerseys</a> ' ' '

VANCOUVER -- If the Calgary Flames were looking to provoke Vancouver head coach John Tortorella into losing his cool again, this time he wasnt taking the bait. Defenceman Yannick Weber scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period and the Canucks breathed a sigh of relief with a 2-1 win on Saturday night. It was the first meeting between the teams since a fierce line brawl broke out two seconds into a game on Jan. 18 that saw 150 penalty minutes assessed. Tortorella had a meltdown that night and went after Flames head coach Bob Hartley by storming Calgarys locker-room during intermission. Tortorella, furious at Hartley for icing his fourth line to start the game, served a 15-day suspension and the struggling Canucks have been in free fall ever since. Hartley started tough guy Brian McGrattan again on Saturday night, but this time the gloves stayed mostly on. "We didnt even talk about it in our locker room," Tortorella said of Hartleys starting line. "We needed to play. We have to scratch, claw and grind and find pints anyway possible." Darren Archibald also scored for the struggling Canucks, who snapped a four game slide and came into Saturday as losers of 11 of their last 12 games, including Thursdays dispiriting 6-1 drubbing in Texas that defenceman Kevin Bieksa called "rock bottom" for the team. McGrattan had the only goal for Calgary, which had won its last two and three of its last five games. The teams played nice until six minutes into the game when Vancouvers Bieksa got the better of Calgarys Mark Giordano with a mean right hand after the two dropped gloves. Giordano headed to the dressing room after, but returned later in the period. "I could tell that Gio was good," said Hartley. "It was just a gash that needed to be fixed." The Canucks had their chances early, including a 2-on-1 against Flames goalie Joni Ortio, but David Booth fired the puck wide to keep his goal drought in tact. Booth hasnt scored since Dec. 17. The absence of Canucks stalwart goalie Roberto Luongo -- traded on Tuesday to Florida -- was sharply felt at 2:13 of the second when a harmless looking slap shot by McGrattan near centre ice somehow eluded new No. 1 Eddie Lack. The crowd groaned and Tortorella shook his head in disbelief. "I just wanted to throw one on net. I was at the end of my shift and fortunately it went in," said McGrattan. "It was a muck and grind game. A lot of sloppy plays at both ends; the puck was bouncing everywhere. Those are good tests to see what youre made of." Lack says he didnt let the bad goal take him mentally out of the game. "I am just telling myself to get going again, and try to focus on the next save," he said. "And the guys got a goal really quick and that took the pressure off." Vancouver evened the game three minutes later with a goal almost as ugly. With three Canucks crowding Ortio in the crease, Archibald whacked in the puck for his first career NHL goal. It breathed some life into the Rogers Arena, which didnt have much to cheer with only eight Vancouver shots compared to the Flames 14 through two periods. "Its never a bad play to stuff it and crash the net and get a greasy one," said Archibald. "Thats part of my game -- win battles down low -- and I kind of won a battle and stuffed it from behind the net and pitchforked it in." Action picked up in the third as Canuck Ryan Kesler was stopped by Ortio on a point-blank shot in the slot, while at the other end, Lance Bouma missed on a wide-open net with Lack way out of position. Bouma has seen increased playing time lately as Hartley grows more confident in young winger. "Im gaining confidence every game," said Bouma. "The coach is putting a lot of trust in me and playing me in key situations. Im just trying to learn as much as I can, and I feel like its been going pretty well." Weber scored the go-ahead goal five minutes into the third when he banged home a rebound off a shot from new teammate Shawn Matthias, who came to Vancouver from the Panthers in the Luongo trade. "Maybe it wasnt the prettiest goals, but thats how we have to get out of our slump," said Weber. "We played a gritty game, and got some ugly goals and thats the way we have to play." Calgary had a chance to tie the game with two power-play chances thanks to Vancouvers Chris Higgins in the final five minutes, but the Flames couldnt capitalize. Higgins had three straight penalties in the third period. Ashton scored a hat trick -- giving him 13 goals in 16 AHL games this season -- to power the Toronto Marlies to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Lake Erie Monsters in AHL action on Sunday. "He took the game over," said Marlies coach Steve Spott. "You see what he can do at this level. "Hes going to have to find that same confidence and swagger when he plays for the (NHL parent) Maple Leafs. Here in the AHL, he does a nice job, he maintains possession of the puck, he uses his body, uses his speed, and it becomes a weapon for him. He just needs to find the confidence to do that at the next level." Ashton broke a 2-2 tie -- and completed his hat trick -- during a goal-mouth scramble when he deposited a rebound into the net past Monsters goalie Calvin Pickard at 6:16 of the third period. Defenceman T.J. Brennan, with his team-leading 21st of the season, gave the Marlies a two-goal cushion 45 seconds later when his point shot trickled through Pickards legs. Brandon Kozun closed out the scoring with an empty-netter at 17:51. "Its definitely a process, so to come back down and get these games and some good ice time, thats good for me," Ashton said. "And we finished off our homestand with a win, so thats great." Toronto went 7-3-0 on its 10-game homestand and improved to 33-18-4 on the season, good for first place in the North Division. Ashtons linemates, Spencer Abbott and Greg McKegg, collected two assists apiece in front of 4,351 fans at Ricoh Coliseum. Joey Hishon and Mike Sgarbossa replied for the Monsters, who dropped their second game in a row to fall to 23-26-6. "Give Lake Errie credit, they found a way to get back into it after a two-goal deficit," said Spott, who watched the Monsters strike twice in the latter stages of the second period after Toronto had staked a 2-0 lead.dddddddddddd "We knew we were at home, playing the last period of a 10-game homestand, and we wanted to take advantage of it. I give our guys a lot of credit for the way they played the final 20 minutes." Marlies goalie Drew MacIntyre was sharp making 26 saves, while Pickard stopped 18 of 22 shots. Toronto led 1-0 after the first period and the score was tied 2-2 through 40 minutes. The Marlies opened the scoring 53 seconds into the first period when Ashton took a pass from Spencer Abbott in the slot, cut to the left and whipped a wrist shot past Pickards blocker. The Monsters had some chances of their own in the opening frame -- including a two-minute 5-on-3 power play and a breakaway by right winger Guillaume Desbiens -- but they couldnt beat MacIntyre. Ashton gave the Marlies a two-goal edge when he deflected Greg McKeggs point shot past a screened Pickard at 10:02 of the second period. The advantage was shortlived, however, as Hishon put the Monsters on the scoreboard 52 seconds later when he redirected a slapshot past MacIntyre. Sgarbossa tied it up when he whacked in a rebound for a power-play goal at 18:35 of the middle frame. Ashton regained the lead for Toronto with his third goal of the game at 6:16 of the third period, and Brennans goal 45 seconds later sealed the win for the Marlies. Kozun capped the scoring with an empty-netter at 17:51 Toronto went 0 for 3 on the power play while Lake Erie was 1 for 6. RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks and wide receiver Sidney Rice have agreed to terms on a deal. Rice returns to Seattle after spending the last three seasons with the Seahawks. Rice was released by Seattle in February in a salary-driven move. He was scheduled to make $8.5 million this season under his previous contract. The team confirmed the agreement Wednesday. Terms of his new deal were not disclosed. Rice is coming back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered in October against the St. Louis Rams. They know how dangerous a desperate team can be. The unbeaten Whitecaps head to Boston on Saturday afternoon to face a struggling Revolution squad eager to ignite their offence in their home opener. "Im not getting fooled by the results they had in the first two games," said Vancouver head coach Carl Robinson. "They are a good team and it will be a big test for us." New England has been outscored 5-0 in two road games so far, but has won both its previous meetings against Vancouver when playing at Gillette Stadium. New England is also unbeaten in home openers since 2007. "Its a dangerous time to play them," said Whitecaps captain Jay DeMerit. "Theyll have a lot of fire in their bellies and we need to make sure we combat that. Our energy needs to be there from the start." DeMerit wont be on hand to deliver that spark, as he said on Twitter that he is being rested this weekend in advance of Vancouvers upcoming Western Conference matchups. Vancouvers energy level was a recurring topic during the teams training sessions this week on the UBC campus. After dazzling home fans in their season-opening 4-1 win over the New York Red Bulls, the team looked somewhat sluggish in a 1-1 tie against a 10-man Chivas USA side in southern California. Against Chivas, the Whitecaps fell behind 1-0 before Gambian forward Kekuta Manneh tied it with a spectacular strike in the 81st minute. Although Vancouver pulled out the road point, many on the team felt it was an opportunity missed. "We were not a 100 per cent in our energy last weekend and thats something we can improve on," said Whitecaps goalie David Ousted. "If youre up a man, you have to work maybe even harder to break them down than if theyre 11. "They did really well at ruining our play and we had to work hard to get through and I think thatts something well learn from.dddddddddddd. If it happens again, we will be even more aggressive in going for the goals." While fans pine to see Manneh and his scoring touch in the starting lineup on Saturday, Robinson says Mannehs not there yet. The quick-footed forward missed the pre-season with a lower back issue and right now his fitness level is still a work in progress. Manneh, who scored six goals and started six games last year, played 30 minutes against Chivas and seven in the opener. He was seen running drills alone during practice. "Hes a great kid and has got fantastic ability," said Robinson. "Its important we do the fitness that the guys did in pre-season. He missed that. He got his reward on Sunday, and played very well. Hell be fine for (Saturday) and Im sure he play some part in New England." Vancouver will need its offence clicking against a Revolution team that, despite its goal-scoring struggles, is known to be stingy at the back thanks in part Jose Goncalves, last years MLS defender of the year. The Portuguese centre back helped New England tie for the third-best defensive record in 2013 with 38 goals allowed. "They play tight and narrow at the back, so if we can spread them out and get some crosses, hopefully (we) get some of these guys on the scoreboard again," said DeMerit. "New England is a compact team. Theyve got a couple good forwards up top, guys who are proven scorers in this league. They havent scored a lot of goals yet, but that doesnt mean they arent capable of doing so." Notes: Whitecaps midfielder Russell Teibert of Niagara Falls, Ont., says hes feels good and is ready to return after missing Sundays match with a hamstring injury. NEW ORLEANS - When DeMar DeRozan found out he had made his first NBA All-Star Game two weeks ago, receiving the news on the team plane upon landing in Denver, he wasnt surprised but instead described the feeling as a surreal one. Now - 48 hours before the main event - the Raptors leading scorer is soaking it all in, still a little starry-eyed, mindful of how far he has come and what its taken to get him to this point. "Its starting to become real now," he told TSN.ca Friday afternoon, as the All-Star participants gathered in the cavernous ballroom of a New Orleans hotel for their annual media day circus. "I think when I really go out there, put the jersey on and head to the arena Sunday evening [it will really hit me]." The 24-year-old DeRozan does not have to look very far to find mementos of his NBA journey, the closest one will be sitting adjacent to him on the Eastern Conference teams bench when the game tips off on Sunday. Heat forward and fellow All-Star reserve Chris Bosh was one of the first to pull DeRozan aside upon arrival in New Orleans this weekend. Bosh - the Raptors last representative in the All-Star Game, four years ago - left for Miami following DeRozans rookie season. He, as much as anyone, can attest to DeRozans growth as a player and the message he had for his former teammate was just that. "Im proud of you," he told the Raptors guard. "It means a lot," DeRozan said of Boshs kind words. "We were just laughing because I remember being the only rookie, 19-years-old on the Raptors, him being a star and seeing all the things he was going through when he was [in Toronto] and how he had to carry the team on his back." "After he left I had to step up and learn. Its just crazy, we were laughing at how fast time flies. It seems like yesterday I was that rookie who wouldnt shoot the ball and passed it to Chris every time." There was pressure on DeRozan to contribute right out of the gate, starting 65 games - most of them alongside Bosh - as a rookie in Toronto. He was, to his own admission, a deer in the NBA headlights. He attempted fewer than seven shots per game - which more than doubled in his second year, without Bosh in the lineup - yet averaged less than an assist in over 21 minutes a night. At the time, becoming an All-Star was not even on his radar, his focus was self-preservation and proving his worth as an NBA player. "Youre always stuck in the moment," he remembered. "You stay on course with your everyday tasks and you work towards something like this, you just work every single day. I knew if I just stay consistent, stay focused and didnt get down on myself too much I knew I had a chance." Five seasons later - one year removed from signing a long-term contract extension - his work ethic has not wavered, if anything its gotten stronger, more relentless. "Im proud of DeMar," said Terrence Ross, who has become a protégé of DeRozans. "Hes put in so much work. To see him here is like, man, I wish we could give him more for all hes done. Im just happy hes here getting a chance to prove to the world what he can do." Now that hes here, now that hes come this far he knows not to take it for granted. DeRozan - who is tied for fourth in the league in minutes played, also nursing an ankle injury - could have used the time off but youll never get him to admit it. Hes honoured to be representing the third-place, division-leading Raptors on the world stage. He was caught off guard when his agent called to deliver the leagues invitation to participate in Saturdays Skills Challenge, an event usually reserved for point guards, one thats out of his comfort zone. Originally he declined but it didnt take much prodding to convince him to change his mind. "Everybody doesnt get a chance to be a part of All-Star Weekend," he said when he was announced as a participant last week. "The big thing for me is to go out there and have fun. I think it will be cool to go out there and represent my team as much as I can and you never know, I might mess around and win it." DeRozans attitude is a refreshing change of pace from many of todays star players who decline invitations to participate in All-Star Saturday Night each year to preserve their energy, prevent injury or simply because they feel like theyve graduated from it. Sure, LeBron still wont dunk but perhaps times are changing after all. For the first time since 1988 three All-Stars will compete in the Slam Dunk contest, one of them, Damian Lillard will participate in all five major events this weekend. His rationale is on par with DeRozans. "Im happy Im really a part of the weekend," said Lillard, another first-time All-Star. "Ive gotten great reception from the fans. Fans are excited about having someone who is participating in the All-Star Game being in all the events." DeRozan is considered a long shot to defeat Lillard, the reigning champion, in Saturdays Skills Challenge but hes not putting too much pressure on himself. For him, the weekend is all about embracing a new opportunity, his first real All-Star opportunity. Nike Roshe One Flyknit Grise . Reporters who asked if he was concerned about his Los Angeles Kings bad start in Detroit on Friday (they fell behind 4-0 in the first period) were probably expecting an obvious answer when they should have been expecting a Darryl Sutter answer.INDIANAPOLIS -- The Pacers were back to being themselves Sunday. They made shots. They defended hard for 48 minutes. Lance Stephenson regained his swagger and, yes, the reeling Pacers even looked like a playoff-ready team. David West made three free throws in the final 15 seconds and Stephenson produced his league-leading fifth triple-double to give Indiana a 102-97 win over Oklahoma City 102-97, putting the Pacers on the cusp of clinching the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. "Were going to treat it (the season finale) like a playoff game. We have to get that No. 1 spot," Stephenson said. "Thats what we wanted from the beginning of the season so we have to take it, not get it, we have to take it." All they need is a win Wednesday night at Orlando or one more Miami loss. The Heat visit Washington on Monday and host Philadelphia on Wednesday. Its been a wild second-half ride for Indiana (55-26), which held the top spot in the East from opening night in October until the last week of March. When the Pacers beat the Heat on March 26, they had a three-game lead and a seemingly firm grasp on home-court advantage. As the losses mounted, though, Miami charged back and finally took the top spot on March 31. But rather than pulling away, the two-time defending champs gave the lead right back. Miami retook a one-half game by beating the Pacers at home Friday, then fell into a tie with Indiana after losing Saturday night in Atlanta. The Pacers went into Sundays game with six losses in eight games and the knowledge that all they had to do was win their last two -- because they have a better conference record than the Heat. So just like that, Indiana flipped the switch and got back to looking the a championship contender. Six players reached double figures including West, who had 21, and Stephenson, who had 17 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. He broke Detlef Schrempfs franchise record for most triple doubles in a season (four in 1992-93). "Hes a big part of our personality, a big part of our edge, a fan favourite with good reason and hes one of the head coachs favourites," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said after getting a low-five from Stephenson after a late 3-pointer. Paul George finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds and C.J.&nnbsp;Watson scored a season high 20 points.dddddddddddd. The Pacers didnt even need much from Roy Hibbert, who had six rebounds, no points and was 0 for 9 from the field. The Thunder (58-22) shot 42.9 per cent from the field, were 7 of 28 on 3-pointers and were outrebounded 46-32. NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant had 38 points and Russell Westbrook had 21 as they rallied Oklahoma City from a 10-point deficit over the final seven minutes. The Thunder, who were trying to lock up the No. 2 seed in the West, have no doubt Indiana can play with the best in the NBA. "Whats surprising to me is the people who are down on them," Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said. "In an 82-game season, youre going to have some tough times. Unfortunately for them, theyre having it late in the season. But all it takes is a game or two to get back on." What changed for the Pacers, aside from returning to their home court? They were gritty and selfless, the starters who sat out Wednesday at Milwaukee looked well-rested and the bench that produced a big win over the Bucks looked more confident. While there were still signs of lingering problems, such as 21 turnovers. Indiana stayed in control and closed it out late. After Georges 12-foot runner gave the Pacers an 87-77 lead with 6:59 to go, the Thunder charged back, tying the score at 89 when Westbrook hit a 3 with 2:46 to go. "We put ourselves in good position, we just couldnt finish," Durant said. The Pacers wouldnt allow it. George broke the tie with a 3 and 2:09 to play, West followed that with two straight mid-range jumpers and Stephenson knocked down a 3 with 34.2 seconds left to give make it 97-91. "Were just trying to put together good basketball at this point and hopefully carry it into the playoffs," West said. The Vancouver Canucks will be without forward Alexandre Burrows for a couple of weeks according to head coach John Tortorella. Hed just won the U.S. Public Links title, graduated from North Carolina State and was embarking on his professional career. He landed in Moncton to play the New Brunswick Open and without the benefit of a practice round, won the tournament. A week later, in London, Ont., again without the benefit of a practice round – this time because hed spent the previous three days celebrating his first win – he did it again, capturing the CPGA Championship. Those two wins jump-started his pro career and so it was appropriate that the South African golfer returned to Canada to notch another victory, the RBC Canadian Open. This time around, he knew how to get to Montreal although the celebration could be similar. "The irony of it, it could be the place of my first win and my last," he said, throwing out a little dark humour perhaps pointing to the looming long putter ban in 2016. "Thats pretty interesting. To come back here, yeah, full circle, thats 16 years ago when I was just cutting my teeth as a professional." It seems as if Clark has learned a lot in that period. He put together a sensational Sunday back nine at Royal Montreal to reel in and pass Jim Furyk to earn the victory. Clark started the day three behind Furyk and was still that many back when they headed for the back nine. But birdies on 11 and 12 got him to within one. Two more birds on the 14th and 15th put him into the lead and standing in the fairway on 18, he was a shot ahead and had the tournament in his hands. However his approach landed 44 feet from the hole and his first putt wasnt really cozy; he left himself a stomach-turning six feet. But when Furyk missed his 12-foot birdie putt, the 38-year-old Clark made no mistake. "That was a big swing there," he said, admitting that he was thinking more of the tournaments hed lost than the ones hed won while standing over his putt. "I didnt want to have to go into the playoff knowing that he can take it over the water (on 1 and I have to play out to the right." Thats right, chalk up one for the short hitters – Clark averaged just 269 yards off the tee (which made clearing the water on the 18th at Royal Montreal impossible). And give another tick mark to the long putter posse. Clarkk is a card-carrying member of both outfits and a win from either of those groups is becoming rare these days on the PGA Tour.dddddddddddd "I didnt quite have it with my golf swing or the putter," Clark said of his opening nine holes, "but making the turn I was still only three back so I was still in the tournament and I knew it looked like Jim wasnt going to make any mistakes so I knew I had to make birdies and sometimes that can be easier when you know you have to be aggressive. At that point, [I had] nothing to lose and like I say, I suddenly just got hot and went with it." Furyks loss marked the 16th time in his career that hes frittered away a 54-hole lead, including the last seven consecutively. He hasnt won since 2010 and at 44, he will likely have fewer and fewer chances. "Im obviously disappointed," he said. "Ive got no one to blame but myself. It was a benign day and 69 is not a bad round by any means, and only making two birdies, I let a couple guys back into the tournament that if they go out there and fire a 66 or 67, its a done deal." Now Clark is a talented player, but hes been a little short on PGA Tour wins. Hes managed to earn $22 million yet this was just his second victory. It took him 206 starts to notch his first win, the Players Championship in 2010, where he also came from three back on the last day. After that he struggled, underwent elbow surgery and missed basically an entire year. And then he had kids and hes also had to worry about what to do with his long putter, which hes used since college. So its not a big surprise that he needed another 78 starts to grab the second victory. But this was a tournament he was exceedingly proud to win, even if he did manage to drop the trophy shortly after it was presented. "Its certainly one Ive wanted to win for a long time," he stated. "Any national open championship to me is special, particularly to those people for their country." That would include his wife, Candice, who happens to be from Toronto originally. Clark knows a thing or two about national opens too. While hes short on PGA Tour wins, he does have a handful of national titles, including his own, the South African Open. And he has a Scottish Open and an Australian Open. Those, of course, go along with that all-important first win, the New Brunswick Open. Full circle indeed. wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

BURNABY, B.C. -- Japan rugby coach Eddie Jones might want to bottle whatever he told his team at halftime on Saturday night. Down 25-9 at the break, Japan stormed out of the gate and outscored Canada 25-0 over the final 40 minutes to stun the hosts 34-25 in the first game of the Pacific Nations Cup tournament for both countries. Jones is back coaching after suffering a stroke in October, but that didnt stop him from letting loose on his players after a disappointing first half. "Ill tell you what, it wasnt good for my blood pressure," said the 54-year-old. "We thought we were fitter than them. We thought if we could just hang in there ... we were just like a boxer on the ropes hanging on there. And if you get a chance to throw a jab, you throw it, and thats what we were able to do. "It takes a bit of courage to do that, so Im really pleased with that from the boys." Japan ran ragged in the second half, busting through the line for a pair of tries that left Canadian head coach Kieran Crowley shaking his head. "We really played well in that first half. We put pressure on them, we scored a couple really good tries," he said. "Second half, we had a couple bad defensive errors from set plays, which you cant afford to do. They were pretty soft tries, really. "Japan just took it to us and they deserved to win with that second-half performance." Yoshikazu Fujita, Yu Tamura and Hendrik Tui had the tries for the visitors, who won their eighth straight overall, while Ayumu Goromaru kicked five penalties and added two converts. John Moonlight, Ciaran Hearn and Taylor Paris had the tries for Canada, while James Pritchard added two penalties and two converts. Japan started to claw its way back after halftime with a try in the 42nd minute as Fujita dove over the line, and after Goromaru missed the conversion, the score stood at 25-14. Goromaru then kicked his fourth penalty of the night in the 56th minute to make it 25-17 before Tamura broke through the Canadian midfield untouched in the 63rd, with Goromanus conversion cutting the deficit to just one. Clearly rattled, Canada could barely hold onto the ball and Tui completed the comeback by again busting through the line to make it 31-25 after Goromarus conversion. Goromaru added to his point total by booting another penalty on the last kick of the game for the 34-25 final. "We always knew wed have to cope with the physical onslaught of Canada at home for the first 40," said Jones. "If we wouldnt have given away that try away (before) halftime we would have been pretty happy, but 25-9 at halftime, youre battling to stay in the game." Despite watching his team get bossed around in the second half, Tyler Ardron -- a 22-year-old from Lakefield, Ont., who plays for Ospreys in Wales and captained Canada for the first time -- saw some positives. "Tons of things to work on still," said Ardron, who made just his 14th appearance for the national team. "But we executed a lot things that we wanted to and I think if you look at that first half, a lot of things went our way and in the second half a couple bounces maybe went their way." The six-team Pacific Nations Cup tournament also includes Samoa, Fiji, Tonga and the United States. Canada will play world No. 10 Scotland at Torontos BMO Field next Saturday before travelling to Sacramento, Calif., to face the U.S. on June 21 in another Pacific Nations Cup match. The tournament consists of two groups of three teams, with each country taking on the other two in its conference. The top teams from each meet in Novembers final. Before his teams dominating second half, the turning point appeared to come in the 34th minute when Japans Shota Horie was sent to the sin bin for a foul, leaving his team down a man. Pritchard made the ensuing penalty from close range and Canada opened the floodgates with two impressive tries to close out the half. Moonlight finished off a good move for a try in the 37th minute before Paris broke through the Japanese line moments later, with Pritchard converting both for a 25-9 lead. "(We) definitely didnt think it was over," said Ardron. "I think we felt that if we played our game over the next 40 minutes we would be comfortable, but that clearly wasnt the case. "Credit to Japan -- they came out and played their game and we didnt turn it around." Japan, ranked No. 12 in the world, has been a pain for 15th-ranked Canada over the last several years. The Japanese tied Canada at the last two Rugby World Cups, with the 23-23 draw in 2011 helping to push the Canadians to fourth in their pool to miss out on automatic qualification for the 2015 tournament. Japan then beat Canada 16-13 in last years Pacific Nations Cup, a result that handed the championship trophy to Fiji. Crowley said earlier in the week that a win over Japan on home soil would help propel his side up the International Rugby Boards rankings and his players started brightly in front of a partisan crowd at Swangard Stadium. Canada had sustained pressure early in the match, with Hearn going over the line for the opening try in the seventh minute, but Pritchard missed the conversion for a 5-0 lead. Goromaru got Japan on the board with a penalty kick in the 12th minute, and he connected again three minutes later to give his team a 6-5 advantage. Pritchard then added a penalty in the 18th minute to restore the Canadian lead at 8-6, but Goromaru kicked his third penalty of the half in the 29th to make it 9-8 Japan. "Rugbys on a bit of a high at the moment in Canada," said Crowley. "Weve just got to get some of these tight games across the line. Japan have had our number a little bit the last few times weve played them, which is unfortunate." Notes: Scotland beat the U.S. 24-6 on Saturday night in Houston. ... SAN DIEGO -- Arizonas Brandon McCarthy went seven innings and won for just the second time this season, pitching the Diamondbacks past the Padres 2-1 on Friday night. McCarthy (2-10) limited San Diego to one run and six hits. He struck out seven with no walks as he beat the Padres for the second time this season and fourth in five career decisions. Addison Reed pitched the ninth inning for his 18th save in 21 chances. The Padres, who were no-hit by the Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants in their last game, were again challenged offensively. Tyson Ross (6- took the loss as the Padres continued a disturbing trend. In Ross last five starts the Padres have scored one run. The Padres cut Arizonas lead in half in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Ross. He drove in Cameron Maybin who reached on a single and took third on a single by Alexi Amarista. San Diego squandered a chance to tie the game in the sixth when Chase Headley reached third with one out. But with the infield in, Will Venable grounded to Aaron Hill at second base and he erased Headley trying to score. Venable was retired when he broke for second base while Headley was in a rundown. The Diamondbacks broke the scoreless tie in the fourth when Paul Goldschmidt walked to open the inning, which preceded a single by Miguel Montero. They advanced to second and third on a wild pitch by Ross. David Peralta drove them both in with a sharp one-out single up the middle. Martin Prado smacked a similar ball toward centre, but with Amarista covering second on a steal attempt by Peralta, he was in position to turn an inning-ending double play. Down 2-0, the Padres had an opportunity to cut into their deficit when Headley and Yasmani Grandal had consecutive one-out singles in the fourth inning. But Venable and Jake Goebbert struck out looking to squash the rally. The Padres got their first hit in 11 innings in the third when Ross bunted for a two-out single. Ross effort down the first base line was fielded by McCarthy but his throw was late and offline. Ross, the Padres second base runner over that 11-inning span, didnt go far. Everth Cabrera followed with a ground ball to shortstop to end the inning. NOTES: Diamondbacks SS Chris Owings was scratched from the lineup with a sore left shoulder. . CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Magic coach Jacque Vaughn had been eagerly awaiting the return of Nikola Vucevic to his starting lineup. The 7-foot centre showed why Wednesday night. Vucevic had a double-double in the first half after missing the last four games with a sprained left ankle, Jameer Nelson had 12 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter and the Orlando Magic snapped a six-game losing streak with a 92-83 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Glen Davis added 17 points and 12 rebounds and Arron Afflalo chipped in with 16 points. "We needed this one," Davis said. "We needed it bad. We are a good team. We just all got to be healthy, you know what I mean? Look at what Nik did out there today. Weve been missing that. Its been tough for us in the paint. He loosens everything up for me, most definitely. Him being a factor out there, people have to guard him and also hes going to get rebounds and help us with fast-break points." Orlando had 36 points in the paint and outrebounded the Bobcats 52-41. The Magic scored 17 points off second-chance points, many of those rebounds kept alive by Vucevic. Vucevic, who was a game-time decision, finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season. "Just overall you see rotation-wise, we were a little bit more concrete and had a little bit more flow to our rotations tonight," Vaughn said. "We had favourable matchups at different parts of the game, and when he can match up against Al Jefferson thats pretty good for us." Nelson came up with a big 3-pointer late for the Magic, and also had seven rebounds and six assists while outplaying opposing point guard Kemba Walker. The Magic led by four with just over a minute remaining in the game when Nelson knocked down a 26-footer from the top of the key to push the lead to 86-79. The Bobcats cut it back to five, but Nelson beat Walker on a drive for a layup to push the lead back to seven with 42 seconds left and essentially seal the victory. Seven Orlando players finished in double figures in scoring. "I think that is how we have to play," Vucevic said. "We dont really have a goo-to guy on this team that is going to score 20 a game.dddddddddddd You got to have a different guy scoring." The Bobcats shot 37 per cent in ending their two-game win streak. Jefferson led Charlotte with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Walker, who had 31 points against Stephen Curry on Monday night, was held to 10 points on 4-of-18 shooting. Orlando led 43-42 at the break behind a productive first half from Vucevic, who had 12 points and 11 rebounds while outplaying Jefferson inside. After going 13 straight games without giving up 100 points, the Bobcats second-ranked defence allowed 111 points to Golden State on Monday night in a four-point victory, prompting coach Steve Clifford to say tongue-in-cheek "we shut them down." While the Bobcats limited the Magic to 42 per cent shooting, they couldnt get their offence going and the ball wouldnt go down. Charlottes trio of Walker, Gerald Henderson and Jefferson were a combined 11 of 42 from the field. "I think our team for the most part all year our effort has been exceptional. Tonight our readiness from our starters was poor," Clifford said. "... We got outworked on the glass. We came in as the No. 1 rebounding team in the NBA and for whatever reason tonight didnt put the effort in, the physicality in, the things that are hard to do night in and night out. We didnt want to do it tonight and it cost us." The game featured a matchup of former Indiana Hoosiers with Cody Zeller taking on Victor Oladipo. Zeller finished with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting and six rebounds, while Oladipo had 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting with four rebounds. "Its always fun playing against Victor and we seem to bring out the best in each other," Zeller said. NOTES: The Bobcats signed small forward Chris Douglas-Roberts earlier in the day, but he did not play. The team released James Southerland to make room on the roster. ... Afflalo has scored in double digits 21 times this year. ... Henderson has scored in double digits in 13 straight games. ... Walker has started 170 straight games for the Bobcats, tied for the third-longest streak in franchise history. wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Heavy rain at PGA Championship brought another round of player complaints about not being allowed to lift, clean and place their golf balls in soggy conditions. Play was halted for 1 hour, 51 minutes Sunday in the final round at Valhalla Golf Club after an inch of rain fell in about 45 minutes, creating temporary ponds and streams that had workers scrambling to squeegee water from fairways and greens. Showers also forced an hour-long delay Friday morning in the second round. In both instances, tournament officials decided not to allow players to use preferred lies, except when a ball came to rest in standing water. That didnt sit well with some players, who struggled after play resumed. "To me, its fair out there if you can play the ball up," Graeme McDowell said. "The ball is picking up mud. ... Common sense has to prevail at some point. ... If they played the ball up to me, didnt matter what they did, they made the right call. It was the wrong call to play the ball down, simple." McDowell had just bogeyed the 16th hole and was in the fairway on 17 before the stoppage. He said the deluge left "casual water everywhere." McDowell went on to bogey the par 4 as well and finish the round with a 2-under 69 for a 1-under 283 total. He railed about the decision not to lift, clean and place, which hasnt ever been allowed in a major championship. Tiger Woods has often said that if he were in charge and allowed to change one rule in the game, that would be it. Ian Poulter followed a 32 on the front nine with a 40 on the back, including a triple-bogey 7 on the par-4 12th hole. "They told us to stay in place on the 12th," Poulter said, noting that the rain became heavier at that point, making the fairway barely visible. "I had to have a canoe to get in. I mean, come on." Poulters shot to the fairway was in standing water when play resumed, and he took relief with a drop in the semi-rough. The Englishman three-putted the hole and went on to finish the round at 1-over 72 and even par for the week. What bothered Poulter most was the prolonged wait for the call to suspend play as the rain became heavier. "You know what, it was laughable in the end," he added. "Hold position, hold position, hang on a second. We cant even see anything apart from the water." Kentucky native Kenny Perrys only lament was the long wait. "I struggled," Perry said, despite shooting 68 for his lowest round this week. "I was playing nicely, and then when I had to sit down and wait an hour and come back, my game wasnt nearly as good. I fought it all around." Maybe so, but Perry might have been boosted from friendly galleries that sung "Happy Birthday" as he turned 54 on Sunday. "Every hole," he said. "Poor Luke (Donald, his playing partner), was like, Did you tweet out that it was your birthday today, or how did everybody know? It was funny. It was pretty special." wholesale nfl jerseys . In the latest chapter in his controversial career, the Uruguay international tussled with Branislav Ivanovic in Chelseas penalty box and television pictures showed Suarez biting the top of the defenders right arm. In 2010, Suarez was banned for seven matches for biting an opponent while playing for Ajax against PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch league, earning him the tag Cannibal of Ajax. Suarez issued an apology hours after the match, but was harshly criticized by both club officials and pundits. "Im sad for what happened this afternoon, I apologize (to) Ivanovic and all football world for my inexcusable behaviour," Suarez said on Twitter. "Im so sorry about it!!" As usual, Suarez was the centre of attention throughout a frenetic match at Anfield, giving away a penalty with a needless handball to allow Eden Hazard to convert the spot kick and put Chelsea ahead in the 57th minute. But the striker -- who is the Premier Leagues leading scorer -- made amends by glancing in Daniel Sturridges cross with seconds remaining at Anfield. That still failed to overshadow the biting incident that could land him another long ban. He was suspended for eight games last season for hurling racist insults to Manchester United defender Patrice Evra during a match. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers initially refused to comment on the incident, but criticized Suarez after watching replays. "Having reviewed the video footage and spoken to Luis, his behaviour is unacceptable and I have made him aware of this," Rodgers said in a statement issued by Liverpool. The clubs managing director Ian Ayre said Suarezs behaviour "is not befitting of any player wearing a Liverpool shirt and Luis is aware that he has let himself and everyone associated with the club down." Interim Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez, who was denied a winning return to the club he led to the Champions League title in 2005 during a six-year spell at Anfield, said he didnt see the biting incident and refused to comment Benitez recently said he would return to manage Liverpool one day and his family still lives on Merseyside.dddddddddddd. The draw left Chelsea in fourth place and one point behind Arsenal, having played a game less, in the race for Champions League qualification. Tottenham is a further point behind after its 3-1 win against Manchester City earlier Sunday. Oscar put Chelsea ahead in the 26th minute before Suarez supplied a superb cross for substitute Sturridge to sidefoot home in the 52nd. With his scoring spree this season -- the equalizer was his 23rd league goal of the campaign -- Suarez was starting to rehabilitate his damaged reputation this season. His penchant for diving aside, even his critics had been starting to warm to one of the worlds most gifted players. He is one of the leading contenders for the annual Player of the Year award voted on by fellow footballers. Yet he remains a magnet for controversy, with few people likely to forget his deliberate handball on the goal line in a World Cup quarterfinal in 2010 that prevented a goal and helped Uruguay qualify for the last four at the expense of Ghana. He was seen celebrating on the sideline when Ghana missed the spot kick. Suarez was foiled by Ivanovic as he attempted to kick the ball between the centre backs legs in the area. As the ball rebounded toward the edge of the area, Suarez turned to his opponent and images clearly showed him biting into Ivanovics jersey. Ivanovic shrugged off Suarez and immediately complained to referee Kevin Friend, but to no avail. Suarez wasnt even spoken to by the official, who clearly didnt see the incident. "I think it would be an injustice to Luis Suarez to talk about (the incident), he has been the best player in the league this season," Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said after the game. "I think he is the third best player in the world behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo." Suarezs equalizer came after the allotted six minutes of injury time in the second half and reduced the gap to local rival Everton to five points with four matches remaining. wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

With a 2-2 record in Week 1, The Big Man is set with his Week 2 predictions. The CFL on TSNs Chris Schultz makes his bold predictions, which includes the official return of the Ottawa Redblacks. Ottawa at Winnipeg Well, it is good to say it - Ottawa. As a life-long fan of the CFL, I can tell you many stories of the games and players I identified with that were Rough Rider alumni. Its great to have 0ttawa back. I truly dont have any idea how they will play this year or how many games theyll win. Yet Im optimistic as good teams arent about the best individual players as much as good players working efficiently together. The Redblacks have a solid coaching staff and I feel a good 24 to begin with so competitive games are a real expectation early in the season. Winnipeg? Surprise, surprise! I didnt see the win over the Argos on the horizon and they have a real opportunity to begin the season 2-0. The challenge for Winnipeg is that many of the Redblacks are unknown and theyre team strengths and weaknesses are will only be known after a month of football. A tough team to prepare for. I must stay with logic on this one, a Bombers win but much closer than score than the 45-21 victory over Toronto. More like 31-24 Winnipeg. B.C. at Montreal Both teams had disappointing losses to start the season, but of the two - Montreal was the greater disappointment. Every week there will be one or two players that desperately need to bounce back from a poor game and have a great one. This week its Troy Smith at quarterback for Montreal. His accuracy wasnt there in Calgary and he has to improve quickly - not only for the Als to win but for Troy to keep his position as a starter and leader. Patience is never found in abundance in pro football - quite the opposite in fact. It was good to see Brandon Whitaker back at running back and he was effective, but he may have to be even more effective this week. This one should be close but I like B.C. on the road. They are not going to allow another fake field goal for a first down or an onside kick for a change of possession. Neither team will dominate so B.C. by three in an upset. Hamilton at Edmonton Protection problems, quarterback hesitation problems, run defence problems and there are more problems right now than solutions in Hamilton. Not in Edmonton. Confidence should be high after the win over the Lions on the road and this being the home opener. How about Adarius Bowman, nine catches for 105 yards and a touchdown! Mike Reilly as a quarterback may have found some chemistry after one week of football. Zach Collaros has to improve fast, as Kent Austin still has Dan LeFevour as plan "B" who could turn into plan "A" before anticipated. I have to go with the confident Eskimos over a Hamilton team searching for confidence. Saskatchewan at Toronto This one will be closer than anticipated. It would be easy to say the Riders in an easy win, but I would be shocked if Toronto didnt respond with a more professional response here in Week 2. I do think the Argo defence will play at a higher level in that the combination of pass rush and pass coverage will be much more evident. And I do not for see a 16-penalty first half repeat as was created in Winnipeg. Ricky Ray will have more opportunity this week at home. But - and a big but - the best offensive line may be in Regina. Fulton, Labatte, Picard, Best and Heenan are all athletic and technically sound. Also, the sixth best offensive lineman may be Dan Clark and hes used extensively in tight end run packages. I love my quarterbacks, receivers, running backs, line backers and defensive backs. But just like against Hamilton, I see Rider control thats closest to the line of scrimmage, offence and defensive lines. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated forward Derek MacKenzie off injured reserve after he missed five games with a strained back. MacKenzie was hurt at Vancouver on Nov. 22. The 32-year-old fourth-line centre has two goals and an assist in 22 games with Columbus this season. He has the second-best faceoff percentage on the team (54.3). Originally selected by Atlanta in the fifth round, 128th overall, at the 1999 draft, MacKenzie has 24 goals and 32 assists and a plus-14 rating in 258 career games with the Thrashers and Blue Jackets. <a href="http://www.officialthecowboysonline.com/AUTHENTIC-DARYL-JOHNSTON-COWBOYS-JERSEY/">Daryl Johnston Cowboys Jersey</a>. Tuukka Rask, Boston Bruins (4) – He had a very solid tonight with big saves on David Desharnais, Brendan Gallagher and Max Pacioretty.Despite sitting last in the Western Conference, the Edmonton Oilers enter Thursdays tilt with the Buffalo Sabres on a two-game winning streak and are coming off Tuesdays 5-1 home victory over Nashville. Catch the game on TSN starting at 9:30pm et/6:30pm pt. Jordan Eberle had two goals and an assist to lead the Oilers in the rout of the Predators. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had a goal and two assists while Sam Gagner also scored for Edmonton. Eberle is also ailing, tending to a knee injury sustained in Tuesdays victory and will sit out tonights contest. Nail Yakupov has been sidelined by a sore ankle and will also miss tonights action. Gagner has 10 points in his last 11 games and recently told the Oilers official web site how hes playing with more confidence since the Olympic break. "Im feeling better, Im feeling more confident," Gagner said. "Im obviously not happy with how my year has gone. I think the Olympic break was good for me to just kind of refocus and Im feeling better and our team is playing a lot better" All told, the 24-year-old Gagner has eight goals and 25 assists in 56 games in 2013-14 after recording 38 points (14 goals, 24 assists) in 48 tilts last season. Taylor Hall added the other goal for the Oilers and Viktor Fasth stopped 28 shots in the win. Edmonton improved to 13-16-3 at Rexall Place this season and is playing the second test of a six-game homestand tonight. The Oilers halted a six-game losing streak in the series with the Sabres by recording a 3-2 win in Buffalo on Feb. 3. Ilya Bryzgalov made 42 saves to help Edmonton register that regulation victory, but the goaltender has since been traded to Minnesota. Ben Scrivens gets the call between the pipes for the Oilers this evening. Meanwhile for the Sabres, it has already been a trying season. The club will try to avoid its longest losing streak of this difficult campaign when the Sabres visit the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place. Buuffalo is at the bottom of the NHL standings with just 46 points.dddddddddddd. The next- worst team is the Oilers, but Edmonton is still 13 points ahead of the lowly Sabres, who have lost seven straight in regulation. The teams current skid matches a season-opening 0-6-1 stretch from Oct. 2-14 for the longest winless drought of 2013-14. Buffalo has managed just six goals over the course of its present slide. Buffalo began a five-game road trip Tuesday night in Calgary and dropped a 3-1 decision to the Flames. Mike Cammalleri and Paul Byron scored in the third period to help Calgary pull away for the win at the Saddledome. Drew Stafford scored the lone goal for the Sabres, who have lost four straight on the road and are 7-22-3 as the guest this season. Nathan Lieuwen made his first NHL start and turned aside 23 shots in the loss. Lieuwen was recalled from Buffalos AHL affiliate in Rochester on Sunday and made his NHL debut later that day in a 2-0 loss to Montreal after Jhonas Enroth left 36 minutes in with a lower-body injury. The 22-year-old Lieuwen was playing for the fourth time in five days after starting games for Rochester on Friday and Saturday. "I thought he (Lieuwen) played well," Sabres interim head coach Ted Nolan said. "The second goal we kind of backed right into him and we lost our positioning. They got a good shot and tipped it in. Overall I thought he played well." With Enroth and fellow goaltender Michal Neuvirth expected to miss tonights game with injuries, Matt Hackett will get the call in net. Hackett, 24, has seen action in 13 NHL games, but last played at this level when he started for Minnesota at Dallas on March 29 of last season and he surrendered five goals on 33 shots to take the loss in that game. Hackett is 3-7-0 with a 2.64 goals against average over his 13 career outings. DAVIE, Fla. - Dolphins centre Samson Satele has been the rock of Miamis offensive line this season. He is the only lineman to have started every game at the same position heading into Monday nights matchup with the New York Jets.Satele, a second-round draft choice of Miami in 2007, was signed as a free agent the first week of August to fill the void created by Mike Pounceys hip injury. But his solid play through the first four games led to Pouncey moving over to right guard upon his return to the lineup against Green Bay in Week 6.Its always great when you have two centres out there, said Satele, who spent three seasons in Oakland (2009-11) and two with the Indianapolis Colts (2012-13). I dont even have to look out to the right sometimes because the two of us can communicate to the guards and tackles. . We have a great group of guys on the O-line and anybody can fill in.Creating that stability in the interior has allowed the Dolphins to weather the loss of starting left tackle Branden Albert and injuries to rookie tackle JaWuan James and veteran guard Daryn Colledge. The result has been better pass protection for quarterback Ryan Tannehill and better run blocking.Last season, Tannehill was sacked 58 times, the most in the league, and so far through 11 games he has only been sacked 26 times. Satele is on pace to start all 16 games for the first time since his second season in Miami in 2008.I thought he played one of his better games the other day (at Denver), I really did, Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said. We actually showed the team some pictures today and he showed up on a lot of the pictures from last weeks game. I like the way he plays. Hes got good poise and composure and hes been practicing hard and playing hard. The running game has improved significantly over last season, averaging 4.7 yards per carry and amassing 1,370 yards. Lamar Miller leads the way with 673 yards and five touchdowns with a 4.9 average. A lot of those yards have come up the middle behind Satele, Pouncey and the combination of College and Shelley Smith at left guard.Colledge is a ninth-year veteran who played the previous three seasons in Arizona (2011-13). He considers the Satele-Pouncey combination to be unique.Samson puts us all on the right page and Pouncey has a chance to steer what him and the right tackle are going to do, Colledge said. That frees me up to worry about just what I and the left tackle are going to be doing, so it allows us to be on the same page more often. I think that our mental errors count has probably gone down considerably from where we were at Week 1.An active Jets defensive line will put that comfort level to the test Monday night, but Satele has earned the confidence of his teammates. <a href="http://www.thepacersjerseyfanshop.com/cj-miles-womens-jersey/">C.J. Tolzien would become the first Green Bay quarterback other than Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers to start back-to-back games since Don Majkowski started the first three games of the 1992 season. Coach Mike McCarthy has named Tolzien, a former practice squad player, the starter for Sundays game. Rodgers, sidelined with a collarbone injury, has said he might be able to play if he practices Friday. Rodgers, who has missed the last two games, hasnt practiced this week. He has otherwise had a durable nine-yeear career in Green Bay, following the equally dependable Favre.dddddddddddd The quarterback situation has been less stable for the rest of the NFC North. According to STATS, the Lions have had 18 different quarterbacks start consecutive games since 1992, while the Bears and the Vikings have each had 21. The Packers have lost three straight since Rodgers got hurt Nov. 4 during the first series of a 27-20 loss to Chicago. "All of us want him playing. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed goaltender Oscar Dansk, the 31st pick in the 2012 NHL draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract. A native of Tumba, Sweden, Dansk has spent the past two seasons with Erie of the Ontario Hockey League, compiling a 40-32-7 record with a 3.25 goals-against-average, .897 save percentage and six shutouts in 85 appearances. Dansk was chosen as the top goaltender at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships after posting five wins, a 1.79 GAA and .928 save percentage in helping Sweden win a silver medal. <a href="http://www.cheapjerseysworld.us.com/">Cheap Jerseys From China</a>. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Although it was only the eighth game of the season, it was already vital for the Columbus Blue Jackets to show some improvement. A pair of thirty-somethings led the way. R.J. Umberger scored his first goal of the season with 8:46 left to help make a winner of Curtis McElhinney as the Blue Jackets ended a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night. "Its a good feeling," said coach Todd Richards, given a nice present on his 47th birthday. "I sense in the locker room theres some relief. As the losses started piling up, obviously the pressure amps up as well. The win will alleviate some of that." The 31-year-old Umberger had yet to score this season. "Its a good first step for us to get out of the hole we were in," he said. "It was a gutsy challenge we had and we had to find a way to win." McElhinney, making his first appearance for the Blue Jackets in place of Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky, had 37 saves -- including several clutch ones while Columbus protected a one-goal lead. "I just felt relaxed in there," said the 30-year-old McElhinney, who won his 20th NHL game but first since going 1-0-0 in 2011-12 with Phoenix. "I was certainly nervous going into the game. Its been a while since Ive played at this level. I just wanted to go in, get that first save and then after that it was all downhill. The guys did a good job in front of me of letting me see pucks." McElhinney, who has spent parts of five seasons with Calgary, Anaheim, Ottawa and Phoenix, played last year in the American Hockey League after being picked up in a trade with the Coyotes. Bobrovsky, selected the NHLs top goalie last season, was given the night off after starting Columbus first seven games. Marian Gaborik and Ryan Johansen also scored for the Blue Jackets, who won for the first time at home this season after losing their first two. Umberger and Johansen each had an assist. Umberger scored his 152nd career goal but first since April 15, when the Blue Jackets were putting on a late surge that fell just short of getting them into the playoffs. With the game tied 1-all, Johansen carried the puck on a 2-on-2 rush intoo the offensive zone and slid a pass through the skates of Vancouvers Chris Higgins to Umberger, who had advanced behind Higgins.dddddddddddd Umberger faked and slid the puck between Lacks legs. "Phenomenal," Umberger said of Johansens pass. "He came to the middle and he threaded it right through the guys legs. It was right on my tape. I didnt have to move my stick." The win left a lot of Blue Jackets breathing easier. "Its huge," Johansen said. "But its one win and its not going to get any easier." Henrik Sedin had the goal for the Canucks. Eddie Lack stopped 26 shots in place of Roberto Luongo, rested on the second night of back-to-back games for Vancouver. "It was tough to get good opportunities," Sedin said. "A lot of shots were outside and we didnt have a lot of traffic (in front of the net)." The Canucks, playing their fourth of a season-high seven-game road trip, applied plenty of pressure to try to tie it. McElhinney gloved a hard one-timer by Jason Garrison in the final minutes and then stopped Higgins jam shot from point-blank range off a pass from the back wall by Daniel Sedin with 45 seconds remaining. Johansen then added an empty-netter. Canucks coach John Tortorella said the stat sheet was misleading. "Dont let the shots fool you," he said. "I dont think we played enough in the areas (you have to) to score goals. Theyll let you play on the outside all night long. For most of the minutes, thats what we did." NEW YORK, N.Y. - Peyton Manning made his fifth MVP award a family affair. Mannings record-setting season earned him The Associated Press NFL MVP award Saturday night in a landslide. No other player has won more than three. Denvers record-setting quarterback, who threw for 55 touchdowns and 5,477 yards in leading the Broncos to the AFCs best record, earned 49 votes from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the league. New England quarterback Tom Brady got the other vote. Manning won his other MVPs with Indianapolis in 2003, 04, 08 and 09. He also was the runner-up last season to Adrian Peterson. "I am humbled by this recognition and grateful to my family, (Broncos owner) Pat Bowlen, John Elway, John Fox and the entire Denver Broncos organization, and of course, my coaches and my teammates," Manning said in a prepared video acceptance speech. He was not on hand as he gets ready for Sundays Super Bowl against Seattle. "Now, I sent a couple of guys over there tonight to pick up the trophy on my behalf: my father Archie and my son Marshall. Thank you very much and God bless you." Archie Manning, holding his grandson Marshall in his arms, accepted the award from two more MVPs, Joe Montana and Aaron Rodgers. Manning still trails several Hall of Famers for total MVPs in their sport. Wayne Gretzky won nine NHL MVPs, Barry Bonds owns seven in baseball, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won six in the NBA. Manning also took the APs Offensive Player of the Year award for the second time. Elway accepted the Offensive Player award on Mannings behalf. "I can say I have never seen a better year played by a quarterback than Peyton Manning," said Elway, a Broncos executive who won the MVP award in 1987. "To see what he did this year, it was truly amazing." Manning received 33 votes for the offensive player honour. He also was runner-up last year to Peterson for the award. This time, running back LeSean McCoy of Philadelphia was second with 10 votes, followed by Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles with four. Carolina grabbed two major awards, with Ron Rivera winning AP NFL Coach of the Year and linebacker Luke Kuechly voted top defensive player. Rivera engineered the Panthers turnaround from a 7-9 record to 12-4, the NFC South title and a first-round playoff bye. Kuechly keyed a defence that allowed 241 points, less than every team except NFC champion Seattle. "I had no idea," he said of adding the award to the top defensive rookie honours he got last season. "You look at the list of guys: Robert Mathis, a sack master, a guy that forced a lot of fumbles. And obviously, everybody knows about Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas. Those guys are both studs." Green Bay running back Eddie Lacy and Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson were the top rookies for 2013. San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers took the Comeback Player of the Year award at the NFL Honors show. Riveras fine work in his third season in charge in Carolina brought him 21 1/2 votes. That outdistanced Kansas Citys Andy Reid, who got 13 1/2 votes. In his first year with the Chiefs, Reid took them from 2-14 to 11-5 and an AFC wild-card berth. "I do feel a lot of pride because it has been a long journey, but it also was a part of the process," Rivera said. "Just like us getting to where we are winning 12 games was part of the process. We started, the team was 2-14 before I got there and we went to 6-10 and then 7-9, and this year we broke through at 12-4. It was part of the process of growing and developing." Rivera is the second Panthers coach to win the award. Dom Capers was AP Coach of the Year in 1996, Carolinas second season in the NFL. All-Pro Kuechly received 19 votes, ahead of Indianapolis All-Pro linebacker Mathis, who earned 11 1/2. Kuechly was credited with 96 tackles, four interceptions, two sacks, eight passes defenced, and was a presence from sideline to sideline on the NFLs No. 2 unit. A second-round pick (61st overall) from Alabama, Lacy was a key performer in the Packers offence, particularly when star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sidelined for seven games. He rushed for 1,178 yards on 284 carries (4.1 average), with 11 touchdowns. He also had 35 receptions. That was good enough for 35 votes. "Im comfortable where I am, and my teammates believe in me, and they make me feel comfortable, so Im able to play the way Im capable of playing," said Lacy, who beat out San Diego wide receiver Keenan Allen, who received 12 votes. Richardson, the 13th overall pick in Aprils draft on a selection acquired when New York traded star cornerback Darrelle Revis to Tampa Bay, won a close race over Buffalo linebacker Kiko Alonso. Richardson received 23 votes; Alonso, a second-round choice (46th overall), got 19. Often double-teamed as the season wore on, Richardson made 42 tackles and had 3 1/2 sacks. He clogged the running lanes so effectively that the Jets ranked third against the run this season. "Im surprised," Richardson said of beating Alonso and Arizona safety Tyrann Mathieu, who got two votes. "Kiko and Tyrann most definitely had outstanding rookie years and it was a toss-up to me. Kiko made a lot of tackles and Tyrann made a lot of plays down the field. Unfortunately he got hurt, but it was a tight race." Richardson joked about the possibility of winning both awards — he scored two touchdowns as a fullback in goal-line situations. "Eddie Lacy beat me out there," Richardson said. "He had a few more touchdowns than I did." Rivers led the Chargers to a wild-card playoff spot with four straight victories to close out the schedule, giving them a 9-7 record. He led the league with a 69.5 completion rate and threw for 32 TDs against 11 interceptions. He received 13 votes in balloting so widespread that 12 players got votes. He was not at the awards show at Radio City Music Hall. Chicago cornerback Charles Tillman won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, and accepted the honour with tears in his eyes. "As a Chicago Bear, this award has a special meaning to me," Tillman said. <a href="http://www.maxsaldionlineit.com/nike-air-max/nike-air-max-90-camo.html">NIKE AIR MAX 90 CAMO UOMO blu</a>. Davis, 28, was stopped in Tysons Corner about 4 p.m. Thursday and arrested, Fairfax County Police said. Police spokeswoman Shelley Broderick declined to discuss why Davis was stopped. A court date has not been set. The NFL announced Wednesday that Davis was suspended indefinitely without pay. Davis, who will become a free agent next month, said in a statement Thursday that the suspension resulted from taking a supplement that contained a banned substance, not recreational drug use, which prompted his 2011 suspension. Court records show nearly three dozen traffic-rrelated charges against Davis in recent years.dddddddddddd Specifically, court records in Fairfax, Loudoun and Arlington counties and Fairfax City show 34 charges from 23 separate incidents going back to 2008, the year the Redskins drafted Davis in the second round. Twenty-one of the charges resulted in convictions, including a speeding charge for 82 mph in a 50 zone, driving on a suspended license, and numerous charges for improperly tinted windows. The count does not include dozens of charges for failing to pay tolls, and none of the previous charges includes any allegations of drunken driving. A lawyer who has represented Davis on some of his most recent charges, Mark Dycio, was not immediately available for comment Friday morning. <a href="http://www.cheapjerseyscustom.us.com/">cheap custom jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysstore.us/">wholesale jerseys store</a> <a href="http://www.cheapjerseysown.us/">cheap jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.cheapjerseysmarts.us/">Cheap Jerseys</a><a href="http://www.wholesalejerseyscc.us.com/">wholesale jerseys</a> ' ' '

to make the hard yards. playing his first game

Posted in IYH Forums by fangxu0220 at 08:41, Oct 27 2015

It is true. Once the final regular season game is over - Edmonton at Saskatchewan on Saturday night - a brand new season will begin that may only last one game for each team, and won’t be more than three. Every player on every team will have that conclusive thought on their mind and every fan should look at it at that way. Whether you’re the Calgary Stampeders with the best regular season record or the cross- over team, the truth is that if the football bounces your way you will find yourself in Vancouver the last week of November. The problem is that a football is a very odd shape and can bounces in many directions at any given moment. So you do have to control the football, which means you have to control how you play football more than ever as the regular season closes and the playoff begin. In Hamilton, the Tiger-Cats did what they had to do to win. A special teams return for a touchdown, a turnover which created a short field touchdown, and two interception returns for touchdowns. Now that is a skill, an ability for sure, but you cant depend on it; you just have to create it in the moment. Hamilton has a very limited running game due to injury. Without CJ Gable and depending on the concussion status of Mossis Madu, it may be back to Nic Grigsby as the third back. He has similar talent but cant be expected to know the playbook as clearly as you do if you had been performing in it for the last 17 games. I would have liked to see Zach Collaros run more as a quarterback. He is a good athlete and if mobile on purpose it opens up areas of the offence just by the threat of that mobility. Hamilton needs Andy Fantuz back ASAP from injury. He is a different type of target and a physical presence downfield. Fantuz and Bakari Grant are the big receivers. Luke Tasker, Sam Giguere and Brandon Banks are the little receivers and Terrell Sinkfield is the speed receiver. A nice balance of abilities but you need all of them all the time. With Ottawa they close out the season next week. I do feel goal No. 2 has been accomplished: finding a core of players, and goal No. 1, creating an enthusiastic fan base, is genuine. But there is more to go, a lot more. Not sure much you can take from the Stampeders’ loss to Winnipeg because the weather was brutal and the Bombers were experimenting with on field talent. The drama does relate to Jon Cornish and his concussion. Obviously we will not see him until the West Final especially considering this was his second concussion in one season. What could you have possible done to prevent it? What premeditated planned out decision is out there? He hit his head on the turf in an extremely aggressive way on a completely clean and legal tackle. At this point of the year football is like gambling. You roll the dice hoping and even praying to the football Gods (there are more than one) that you avoid injury to all in every way. You have to play and hope for the best and here is hoping Cornish has a complete recovery as he is great for the league and the Stamps need him. Especially the way Edmonton is playing. And speaking of Edmonton, is there a more confident team in CFL football right now? Going into that game that Edmonton won 37-3, the Lions really needed it. Not only to enhance their playoff opportunity but just for their confidence and belief in their ability. It was Edmontons best game when you consider how effective the Lions defense was until that Saturday afternoon. They were first in just about every significant defensive category but did not perform as so throughout the game. They allowed yards rushing and yards passing and on offence they did not throw for over a hundred yards and did not run for much more than 60. I dont think BC is as bad as this one game indicates but I am wondering if Edmonton is just that good? The Eskimos’ efficiency is a good story but the best story is the Montreal Alouettes’ resurgence as a Grey Cup contender. Jonathan Crompton did it again. Nothing spectacular, 13 completions in 26 attempts for 251 yards and a touchdown but the key here is no interceptions. Then defensively Ricky Ray threw for only 209, only seven yards more than the previous game three weeks ago at the Rogers Centre. Defensively, Montreal knows how to play Ray effectively. Interesting fact here is that in Cromptons 251 yards passing, 181 went to Duron Carter. That is only 70 yards to others. Of Crompton’s 13 completions, 11 went to Carter. The other 2 to SJ Green. There is good and bad in that because you know what to defend but can you do it? Tyler Sutton, great game. 135 yards rushing on only 23 carries. Crompton, Carter and Sutton are emerging as reasons for success on the football field for Montreal. And Bear Woods too at linebacker. He is surprise performer No. 4 on this resurgent Alouettes team. All things considered, a Montreal-Edmonton Grey Cup is a real possibility. <a href="http://www.cheapjerseysworld.us.com/">Cheap NFL Jerseys China</a>.ca NHL Power Rankings, but there werent a lot of changes at the top, with the same top five as the previous week. <a href="http://www.cheapjerseysworld.us.com/">Wholesale NFL Jerseys</a>. The Pelicans played one game in the Big Easy following a five-game road trip. New Orleans went 2-3 on that trip with wins over the Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons and losses to the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks. On Wednesday, the Pelicans returned home and defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 96-80. Anthony Davis, who was named a starter for the Western Conference All-Star team, had 29 points and eight rebounds as the Pelicans pulled away from the Lakers in the fourth quarter. Davis returned from a three-game absence with a toe injury. We just love Gordons floor game, having 10 assists was huge for us, Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. New Orleans scored the first nine points of the fourth quarter to grab a 10- point cushion at the 8:32 mark. The Lakers never got within less than eight the rest of the way. On Wednesday, the home losing streak reached nine with a 98-75 setback at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks. Andrew Wiggins paced the Timberwolves with 18 points, with Thaddeus Young tallying 14 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in defeat. Nikola Pekovic, playing his first game since Minnesotas loss in Dallas on Nov. 15, had 14 points in 23 minutes in his return. The Mavericks hit on 11-of-27 shots from beyond the arc. Minnesota, in contrast, went a poor 2-of-15 on 3-point tries and shot just 34.8 percent overall. It felt like we were playing with deflated balls tonight, Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders joked in reference to the controversy surrounding the New England Patriots recent win in the AFC Championship Game. We couldnt shoot at all tonight. The Timberwolves might be getting some reinforcements soon in the form of Kevin Martin. He has practiced for almost a week and is listed as questionable for Friday. There is no return timetable for Ricky Rubio or Shabazz Muhammad. The Pelicans beat the T-wolves in New Orleans on Nov. 14 and have taken two straight versus Minnesota. SOCHI, Russia -- IOC President Thomas Bach paid tribute Tuesday to the victims of the recent suicide bombings in southern Russia that killed 34 people and heightened security concerns for the Sochi Olympics. Bach spoke at a ceremony in the athletes village to urge compliance with the "Olympic Truce," a symbolic resolution urging warring parties to cease hostilities during the games. "We remember and grieve for the innocent victims of conflict, and especially the recent victims in Volgograd," Bach said. "Our presence here today is a rebuke to those whose motives and goals stand in sharp contrast to the spirit of harmony and global solidarity at these games." An Islamic militant group from the North Caucasus region claimed responsibility for the back-to-back bombings in late December in Volgograd, about 640 kilometres (400 miles) east of Sochi, and threatened to strike the Olympics. Russia has mounted a massive security operation to guard the games, which open Friday and run through Feb. 23. Tens of thousands of military and police personnel have been deployed, along with warships, drone aircraft and anti-missile batteries. The U.N. General Assembly adopted a resolution in November calling for a global truce during the Sochi Games. Similar resolutions have been passed going back to the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics. "We are not naive," Bach said. "We know our limits." The IOC leader said the Olympic Village is a symbol of peace. "Men and women from different backgrounds, different cultures, different religions and different perspectives live side-by-side in harmony," he said. Bachs use of the term "different perspectives" could be seen as a reference to sexual orientation. The buildup to Sochi has been overshadowed by an international outcry against a Russian law banning gay "propaganda" among minors. Activists and some politicians called for a boycott of the games over the issue. "We must never let politics or other outside forces spoil this spirit," Bach said. Among those attending the ceremony was Russian pole vault star Yelena Isinbayeva, who is serving as the "mayor" of the Olympic Village in the coastal cluster of venues. Isinbayeva made headlines in August at the world athletics championships when she condemned homosexuality, saying Russians have "normal" heterosexual relations. The next day, she said her comments in English may have been misunderstood and that she is against any discrimination. Isinbayeva declined further comment Tuesday on the Russian laws butSvetlana Zhurova, mayor of one of the other two athletes villages in the mountains above Sochi, said the issue had been overblown, was unfairly clouding the buildup to the games and she was fed up with fielding questions about it. Zhurova, the 2006 Olympic speedskating gold medallist , urged activists not to use the Winter Games as a platform for protests. "For the spectators it is more important who wins than whether he or she is homosexual or not," she said. "This doesnt matter. Im sure there will be no problems." Tuesdays ceremony began in embarrassing fashion for the hosts. As Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak prepared to speak, the plastic lectern collapsed onto the ground. Bach drew laughs when he said: "We can see that sport can break down walls this morning." Members of the IOCs executive board toured the Olympic Village, which will accommodate about 2,200 athletes along the Black Sea coast. Two other smaller villages are located in the mountain cluster above Sochi. Bach chatted with athletes, grabbed some lunch in the cafeteria and played table tennis in the recreation room. "The village is really magnificent," he said. "What the athletes appreciate is the proximity to the competition venues. I just spoke to a female American speedskater and Russian ice hockey player and the first thing they say is, We can walk from here to our training sessions." Bach has his own room in the village, keeping a tradition started by his predecessor, Jacques Rogge, though he also stays in a luxury hotel nearby during IOC meetings. "One of the greatest privileges of an IOC president is you can ask for a room in the Olympic Village," Bach said. "Its here where the Olympic spirit lives." <a href="http://www.airshoesusasale.com/air-jordan-11.html">jordan 11 legend blue release date</a>. CATHARINES, Ont.LONDON -- The enforced inclusion of No. 8 Ben Morgan for the injured Billy Vunipola was the only change in the England run-on side for the Six Nations showdown with Wales at Twickenham on Sunday. Vunipola came off with a sprained ankle in the first half of the 13-10 win over Ireland two weeks ago and was replaced by Morgan. Vunipola has been ruled out of the last two rounds of the championship. Morgan, as expected, stays where he finishes, and Exeters Tom Johnson, capped five times, takes Morgans spot in the reserves. Coach Stuart Lancaster has said he regards Morgan and Vunipola as "like for like" in their ability to make the hard yards. Morgan became second-choice to the more dynamic Vunipola during the autumn tests, and will make his first start in nine months..dddddddddddd There are six survivors from the run-on side which was pounded 30-3 by Wales in Cardiff last year, denying England the Grand Slam in the tournament finale. Its a game we wish we could have back,"

VANCOUVER -- Struggling Vancouver Canucks winger David Booth has no shortage of motivation to get his game back on track before the Stanley Cup playoffs. Booth will participate in the post-season for the first time in his six-year NHL career. He never made it in five full campaigns with the Florida Panthers. "Its something Ive been looking forward to for a long time," Booth said. "So I want to get a little confidence back and get rolling into the playoffs." He will get a chance Tuesday as the Western Conference-leading Canucks (41-21-9), who are tied for first overall in the NHL, host the Anaheim Ducks (33-35-11). Booth, who was acquired in an October trade that sent Mikael Samuelsson to Florida, has only participated in one playoff series as a professional, with Rochester of the American Hockey League in 2006-07. The sought-after chance to compete for the Stanley Cup came after he battled back from a career-threatening concussion that limited him to 28 games in 2009-10. He was also sidelined with a knee injury this season. But, lately, the 27-year-old Detroit native has been struggling with the mental challenge of trying to ramp up his performance at a time when he was winding down in previous seasons. Booth has no points in his past eight games. On Saturday, he was benched during the third period against Calgary after getting caught up ice as the Flames took a 2-1 lead in the first minute of the final frame. "Its definitely a mental challenge to bring it every night," he said. "Its a mental challenge of how to get over (the slump) and change from one bounce that usually goes in and doesnt, or one pass that usually comes on your stick and takes a bounce over. "Its just tough to come back. Your confidence starts to go a little bit. You start to question yourself. It gets frustrating when you dont play in certain situations. Then you dont think youre as good a player as you once thought, because youre not playing." The benching came after Booth was promoted to the first power-play unit a game earlier against Dallas. Booth is not the only forward on the second line who has been struggling lately. Ryan Kesler and Mason Raymond have also produced a dearth of offence. Kesler has gone nine games without a point after scoring in three straight games. Raymond, under constant criticism for inconsistent play most of the season, has gone four games without a point while shifting between the first and second lines. Raymonds dry spell has come following a stretch of three points in two games after he was a healthy scratch for the first time in his career. "Weve got to get better," Booth said. "Weve got to start producing. The second line, youre supposed to produce." But coach Alain Vigneault indicated he is willing to be patient with the trio. Vigneault noted he has put different linemates with Kesler lately. The moves have resulted in part because of Daniel Sedins concussion, which has kept him out for six games and counting. The Canucks have won every game without him. Vigneault said he said Keslers work ethic was beyond question, and instead attributed the lines difficulties to the normal ups and downs of the season. "Were still trying to work with him, and his linemates, on getting the offensive contribution," Vigneault said. "Were getting the hard work and were getting defensive responsibility. Its just a matter of time, I think, when elite athletes like that get their game to where they need it to be. So Im not overly concerned." Despite the benching, he expressed confidence that Booth can rebound as the playoffs approach. "In the last game, there were some moments that were good and some moments that were, maybe, a little more challenging," Vigneault said. "But hes a real good player for us, and we expect a good performance from him moving forward here." Booth has three games to turn things around before the playoffs. But he will have to try to maximize his performance against playoff also-rans -- presuming Vigneault does not choose to rest him. After meeting the Ducks, the Canucks play their final road game of the regular season Thursday in Calgary and then close out the campaign at home Saturday against Edmonton. In the meantime, Booth is relishing the chance to chase the Cup for the first time. "Thats going to be a great experience," he said. "Thats something you dont really know about until it happens. But Ill be proud to be a part of this team and keep going." <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysbuy.us/">Wholesale Jerseys</a>.com) - George Fant picked up a game-best double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds to lead Western Kentucky to a 72-65 win over No. <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysbuy.us/">Wholesale Jerseys From China</a>. -- As Louisville strives to reach the high level of performance and consistency achieved by last years championship squad, the Cardinals also know that getting there will take time with a bunch of new faces. <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysbuy.us/">http://www.wholesalejerseysbuy.us/</a>.com) - Robin Lehner made 35 saves, and the Ottawa Senators scored four goals in a 5 1/2 minute span in their 7-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday afternoon. <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysbuy.us/">Jerseys Wholesale</a>. The club will try to build off its late effort in Fridays 4-3 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes. Ben Scrivens will get the start in net against the Predators, while Ales Hemsky (ankle injury) and Andrew Ference (head injury) will be out of the line-up. The Oilers allowed the Coyotes to score three times in a 4:02 span of the first period and trailed 4-0 at the three-minute mark of the second frame. Hendricks, though, found the back of the net in the middle period for his first goal with the Oilers, then David Perron and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored six minutes apart in the third period in a spirited comeback attempt. "We found a way to bring some energy and bring some life back to our game, but we got to try to do that for 60 minutes," said Nugent-Hopkins. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 25 shots in defeat. He is 10-6-3 with a 2.41 GAA in 20 career games versus the Predators. His first start with the Oilers came against the Preds on Nov. 28 and he recorded a 33-save shutout. Ben Scrivens, acquired from Los Angeles the same day Devan Dubnyk was traded to the Predators, has lost both of his previous games against Nashville. Edmonton, which has won three of four and nine of its last 13 at home versus Nashville, is expected to be without defenseman Andrew Ference tonight after he left Fridays loss with a head injury. Winners in four of their previouus five games, the Predators got a career-high four goals from Eric Nystrom on Friday versus Calgary, but also saw the Flames score twice in the third period to tie the game before Nashville ultimately dropping a 5-4 decision in a shootout.dddddddddddd Defenseman Roman Josi scored as the second shooter in the third round to extend the tiebreaker, but Calgarys Sean Monahan beat Devan Dubnyk between the legs as the next skater and Ryan Ellis had his attempt stopped. Nashville has now split the first two of a four-game road trip despite Nystrom notching the first four-goal game in franchise history. He upped his season goal total to 11 and had never before scored more than two goals in a game. "It was just one of those nights. Its just frustrating that it was on the short end of the stick. Its a game we wish we could have back," said Nystrom, who was selected 10th overall by Calgary in the 2002 draft. "Its nice scoring goals, but not when its on the losing side." Dubnyk stopped 27 shots for the Predators and has allowed nine goals on 60 shots in two starts since being acquired from the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 15 in exchange for forward Matt Hendricks. Selected 14th overall by the Oilers in the 2004 draft, Dubnyk was 11-17-2 with a 3.36 goals against average in 32 games (29 starts) with Edmonton this season before the trade. It is unknown if he will face his former club tonight or if rookie backup Carter Hutton will get the call instead. Hutton, who has never faced the Oilers, has won four straight starts, including all three since Dubnyk was acquired.
