Nathan MacKinnon and Matt Duchene also scored in the tiebreaker as Colorado ended a three-game road trip with five points.Iginla said he thought too many prior shooters were trying to fake their way past Mrazek so he took a more direct approach when it was his turn.No one had really shot, he said. If you want to look at the cold hard facts, the Kansas City Royals are now the only team in the Majors with a longer post-season drought than the Blue Jays. The Royals, who shrunk over the years from model franchise to annual also-rans, havent made it to the playoffs since 1985, the year they beat the Blue Jays in the American League Championship series en route to winning their one and only World Series title under the late Dick Howser. The past few years though, theyve developed a wealth of young home-grown talent, including catcher Salvador Perez, outfielders Alex Gordon and Lorenzo Cain, third baseman Mike Moustakas, shortstop Alcides Escobar and DH Billy Butler, not to mention outfielder Wil Meyers, who was dealt to Tampa Bay for pitchers James Shields and Wade Davis last year. The Royals are continuing their playoff push this off-season. They signed GM Dayton Moore to a two-year extension and then veteran lefty Jason Vargas to a four-year deal and this week, they traded for a needed lead-off hitter, getting Norichika Aoki from Milwaukee to play right field. The next move may be their boldest yet if they can bring back outfielder Carlos Beltran on a three-year deal. The bottom line is, even if they dont win the Central, theyd have to be a favourite for one of the two Wild Card slots, making it even more difficult for the Blue Jays to make it into the post-season. The Jays have been fairly quiet so far, non-tendering catcher J.P. Arencibia, signing catcher Dioner Navarro and then trading reliever Brad Lincoln to the Phillies for catcher Eric Kratz and lefty reliever Rob Rasmussen. Not exactly earth-shattering moves. GM Alex Anthopoulos is already dampening expectations for next weeks Winter Meetings at Orlando a bit by telling the Toronto chapter of the BBWAA that he doesnt expect to add any more than one starting pitcher from outside the organization in the off-season, when most believe they need two. I trust Alex still has a few tricks up his sleeve, but if the Jays arent aggressive enough, they could find themselves with the longest post-season drought of all at 21 years and counting after the coming season. Lone Ranger? From all reports coming out of Texas, it sounds as though Arencibia is going to wind up in Texas as the back-up catcher to Geovany Soto and maybe a part-time DH. The Texas ballpark is made to order for J.P.s power stroke, and heres hoping he can rediscover or rebuild the rest of his game. Hes too good a person to flame-out in this game so soon. On The Move? Dont rule out the possibility of the Blue Jays dealing Adam Lind next week. Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay both want free agent first baseman James Loney. But the team that doesnt get him might come a-calling about Lind. Names From the Past A few more ex-Jays in the news this week include former 2B Kelly Johnson, who is reportedly close to signing a one-year deal with the Yankees in a utility role. Eric Hinske, who won the Rookie of the Year Award as the Blue Jays third baseman in 2002, retired to become the Chicago Cubs first base coach. Finally Dave Winfield, one of the Jays World Series heroes of 1992, left his front office post with San Diego to become special advisor to Tony Clark, the new Executive Director of the Players Association. Winfield and Clark are two of the most impressive and imposing men Ive ever met, both charismatic and intelligent and just dominant in size when they enter a room with Winfield at 66" and Clark at 68". The PA confirmed the ratification via press release on Thursday night. It was unclear which way the players were leaning prior to the vote. After the league and CFLPA struck a tentative deal on Saturday, many players publicly voiced their displeasure over the terms. The five-year deal calls for a $5 million sallary cap which was below the PAs opening proposal of more than $6 million per year.dddddddddddd. The Players Association also wanted the agreement to be renegotiable after the third year if league revenues increased by more than $18 million, but settled for the leagues figure of $27 million. The next step is for the Board of Governors to vote on the deal, which is expected to happen Friday. wholesale jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys china jerseys from china nfl jerseys cheap authentic cheap jerseys ' ' '

GLENDALE, Ariz. - As a kid, years before he became a pretty good quarterback in his own right, Tom Brady idolized Joe Montana. Now, at age 37, Brady owns just as many Super Bowl championships — and just as many Super Bowl MVP awards — as the Pro Football Hall of Famer. And no QB in history has more.Brady completed 37 of 50 passes for 328 yards with four touchdown passes, each to a different receiver, including an 8-for-8, 65-yard bit of perfection on the drive that led to the go-ahead score with about 2 minutes left Sunday night. That performance, and a victory-clinching interception by rookie cornerback Malcolm Butler, lifted the New England Patriots to a 28-24 comeback victory over the defending champion Seattle Seahawks in a Super Bowl with a slow start and a Whoa! finish. This was not Brady at his best throughout. He threw two interceptions, including one deep in Seattle territory in the first quarter, and another in the third that led to points for the Seahawks.Thats part of why the Patriots trailed 24-14 in the fourth quarter, before Brady got the comeback going. It wasnt the way we drew it up. Certainly, throwing a couple of picks didnt help, said Brady, who broke Peyton Mannings Super Bowl record of 34 completions set last year. It was a lot of mental toughness. Our team has had it all year. We never doubted each other, so thats what it took. That was a great football team we beat. Im just so happy for our team. And to think, back in late September, folks were writing off Brady, saying his best days were long behind him, especially right after a 41-14 loss at Kansas City that dropped the Patriots to 2-2.Every team has a journey, Brady said Sunday, and a lot of people lost faith in us early. But we held strong. We held together.Decades ago, sitting in his familys season-ticket seats at San Franciscos Candlestick Park while growing up, Brady would wear a No. 16 jersey, just like Montana, and cheer for his favourite players team.Brady did a fairly good impression of Joe Cool against Seattle. He connected with Danny Amendola for a 4-yard touchdown with about 8 minutes left. That gave Brady 12 TD passes in Super Bowls, breaking Montanas mark. Then, with 2:02 to go, Brady hit Julian Edelman from 3 yards for TD toss No. 13 in Super Bowls — and, more importantly, the lead.Toms the best ever, Edelman said.Brady turned to New Englands sideline, pointed, then raised his right fist, his white jersey stained green from the turf.Only after Butler grabbed Russell Wilsons pass from the 1-yard line in the final half-minute could Brady really begin to celebrate, leaping up and down on the sideline and embracing coach Bill Belichick. Now Brady, Montana and Terry Bradshaw of the Pittsburgh Steelers are the only starting quarterbacks to earn four Super Bowl rings. At the outset of Bradys career after being a sixth-round draft pick, he and Belichick combined to win three championships in a four-year span, in the 2002, 2004 and 2005 Super Bowls. Brady was the MVP in the first two of those. But Sundays victory ended a decade title drought, after losses in the big games in 2008 and 2012, both times against the New York Giants.Well, its been a long journey. Ive been at it for 15 years and weve had a couple of tough losses in this game, Brady said. This one came down to the end, and this time, we made the plays.___Follow Howard Fendrich on Twitter at http://twitter.com/HowardFendrich___Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/AP_NFL James Develin Youth Jersey . Geneo Grissom Jersey . -- The Detroit Pistons are still one of the worst fourth-quarter teams in the NBA.Last April, Nik Stauskass season at Michigan came crashing to a halt with a tough 82-76 loss to the Louisville Cardinals in the NCAA Championship game. The 66" shooting guard started all but six games in his freshman year, averaging 11 points per game and shooting .440 from the three-point line. Based on his post-game comments, it was clear that he took the championship loss hard. "We just got to move on," he said, his eyes clearly filled with tears. "I know myself, Im going to get back in the gym tomorrow to start working on my game." Stauskas wasnt giving lip service. The dozen or so shooting videos, shot from his backyard in Mississauga, Ontario in sun, rain and snow on YouTube, attest to his incredible drive. His quest for improvement was doubly as important as the top two players on the Wolverines, National Player of the Year, Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway, Jr., were both selected as first-round picks in this past Junes NBA Draft. With their departure, someone had to emerge on the team to pick up the slack and Stauskass work ethic would not allow it to be anyone else but him. "It just comes from me loving the game," he said. "I enjoy playing basketball, so its not really work for me. I enjoy getting better and anytime you go out there and see yourself being successful, it motivates you to try even more and get even better. Its kind of like a cycle for me - the better I get, the more I want to work." Already established as one of the best shooters in college basketball, Stauskas spent the summer in Ann Arbor, Michigan, rounding out his game. Working on his ball-handling to take defenders off the dribble and finish at the rim, he also added 16 pounds of muscle to his lithe frame. The result of his efforts was something no one expected him to do, by averaging 18.2 points in his first 11 games of the season. When met with stiffer competition in the Big 10 Conference, he led the Wolverines to a 9-1 record in one of the toughest conferences in the NCAA, all of which translatedd into Michigan moving up the national rankings and garnering the sophomore a spot on the Naismith Award Midseason Top 30 list.dddddddddddd "Ive never really had recognition like that before," Stauskas said. "To be put in that group with those guys, its an honour. Theyre all really talented and its a prestigious award. Im happy that I can be there and that my work is paying off." Yet as Stauskass talent continues to develop with increased freedom and responsibility, opposing coaches have recognized this, as well. In some games, he has been neutralized as defences key in on Michigans primary threat. "I think the biggest challenge for me personally has just been addressing the way teams have been defending me," he said. "A lot of teams have been preparing for me, more than anyone else on our team. Getting double-teamed and being face-guarded has been an adjustment for me, cause Ive never had to deal with that before. Its made me work harder in a lot of areas I havent had to work on before." Stauskass growth, however, isnt solely physical, as he has had to make the adjustment to being a leader on his team. "Its tougher to pick up the rest of the team and stay positive and encourage everyone else while you struggle personally," Stauskas. Yet, he recognizes its a necessary adjustment to take his team and game to the next level. His focus and drive to succeed wont allow him to think otherwise. This April, Stauskas has similar visions on what another Michigan group of fabulous freshmen accomplished in consecutive seasons - back-to-back trips to the NCAA Championship game. "After the loss we had in the Final Four, obviously our goal is to get back there and win that championship game," he said. "At the same time, we came two points away from winning a Big 10 Championship. Those are both goals I want to achieve coming back this year. The way were playing right now, I think were right on pace to do that, we just have to keep working hard." wholesale jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys china jerseys from china nfl jerseys cheap authentic cheap jerseys ' ' '

WINNIPEG -- Anthony Calvillos big arm usually puts opponents away. On Saturday, it let the Winnipeg Blue Bombers back into the game. The Alouettes quarterback threw a rare trio of interceptions as Montreal lost 26-25 to the Blue Bombers. Winnipeg scored 15 points off the turnovers, including a crucial touchdown in the fourth quarter when the Bombers were clawing back from a 25-10 deficit. The teams are now tied for first place in the CFL East Division with 10-6 records, but the Bombers have won the three-game season series and would get first place if the clubs finish the regular season tied. "The turnovers. Thats what so crucial and disappointing at the same time," said Calvillo, who only had five interceptions this season heading into the game. "Thats why Im so sick, because all these guys fought so hard, so dang hard, and then to come up knowing that youre a big part of the loss, thats what stings me. "But thats part of being the quarterback. Youve got to deal with it and move on." Calvillo, who was sacked six times, finished 14-of-37 for 199 yards, three interceptions and no TDs. It was his lowest yardage this season for a full game. Bomber quarterback Buck Pierce was 21-of-33 for 236 yards with one TD and one pick that led to a Montreal touchdown. The Bombers werent putting too much emphasis on the comeback victory. "All we did was live to play another day in terms of having that opportunity and that chance (for first place) in front of us," defensive tackle Doug Brown said. The Alouettes host the Stampeders next Sunday and end the regular season on the road against B.C. on Nov. 5. Winnipeg plays at home against Toronto next Friday and travels to Calgary Nov. 5. The Bombers had lost three of four games heading into the Montreal match, while the Alouettes had a four-game winning streak halted. Greg Carr hauled in a seven-yard TD catch for Winnipeg and running back Chris Garrett had a pair of touchdowns. Bomber kicker Justin Palardy was good on a 15-yard field goal, had a single off a missed 32-yard attempt and hit the uprights on a 27-yard attempt. Punter Jamie Boreham added a pair of singles for Winnipegs other points. Windy conditions played a huge role in the game. When the Alouettes had the wind in the third quarter, they scored 16 points and mounted a 25-10 lead, including a four-yard run for a TD by Brandon Whitaker after Pierce threw an interception. Montreal kicker Sean Whyte finished the game with a personal-best six field goals in front of a sellout crowd of 30,360 at Canad Inns Stadium. The Bombers turned the tables in the fourth, scoring their own 16 points. Palardy began the surge with a 15-yard field goal at 2:30 of the fourth, but hit the uprights on a 27-yard attempt. Calvillos third interception of the game was a tipped ball that was grabbed by Bomber defensive back Jonathan Hefney and led to Garretts first TD at 8:21 for the 25-20 score. Garretts final TD was set up by a Montreal pass interference call on linebacker Chip Cox that took the ball to the one-yard line. Quarterback Alex Brink kept it and failed to get in on the first try. He then flipped it to Garrett for the winning points with 48 seconds left. A two-point convert attempt failed. When the Als travelled to Winnipeg Sept. 30, they stymied a Bomber come-back attempt for a 32-26 victory. That day, a questionable Montreal penalty took Winnipeg to the one-yard line, but Brink failed to get into the end zone twice and time ran out. Bomber offensive lineman Glenn January said he was thinking of the deja vu as he was walking to the line of scrimmage. "The football gods ruled in our favour," January said, tipping his hat to the defences performance. Cox said the Als have struggled all season with letting opponents come back in the fourth quarter. "Weve got to learn how to step on teams," Cox said. Bomber Terrence Edwards led all receivers with 110 yards off six catches, his first 100-yard game since Sept. 11. Garrett finished with 11 carries for 57 yards. Whitaker rushed 15 times for 109 yards and receiver Jamel Richardson had five receptions for 102 yards. Notes -- Winnipeg linebacker Odell Willis left the game in the third quarter with a rib injury that will be evaluated. China Jerseys . THE FORMATIONS Toronto FC lined up in a 4-4-2 formation, as it did last weekend in its 2-1 victory over the Seattle Sounders. There was one change to TFCs starting XI, as designated player, Gilberto, made his debut in a Toronto jersey, replacing Dwayne De Rosario up front. DC United named an unchanged lineup from their 3-0 loss to the Columbus Crew on the opening weekend of the season (DC had a bye last weekend). Head coach Ben Olsen again chose to line up his team in a 4-4-2 diamond formation. (Click for larger) THE GAME Toronto FCs home debut wasnt pretty. Not because the players on display were poor, but because the pitch simply wasnt ready for soccer. That is not the fault of the BMO Field grounds crew though, who did an admirable job getting the surface prepared for the game. But after the coldest winter in recent memory, it was always going to be an impossible task to turn the playing surface into the lush carpet that players come to expect. While DC United boss Ben Olsen said the pitch "was as bad as Ive ever seen in MLS", it didnt stop the players from trying to play. But the bobbly surface, which cut up as the game wore on, made it virtually impossible for the players to string long sequences of passes together. Despite the difficult conditions (it was also cold and windy down on the pitch), there were some glimpses of what lies ahead for the long-suffering fans of Toronto FC. The partnership between Jermain Defoe and Gilberto looks to be very promising. Defoes movement in the final third was exceptional, and he had a number of chances in the first half to break the deadlock. In Gilberto, Defoe has a partner who can serve as his perfect foil. The Brazilian was comfortable dropping deep to receive the ball, didnt shy away from the physical battle, and once he had the ball at his feet, was willing to drive at the back four or play the role of provider. Michael Bradley was again a dominant force in midfield, and his partnership with Jonathan Osorio is also reason for optimism. They can both get caught ahead of the ball at times (as they did in Seattle last week for the Sounders goal) but that is due more to their lack of familiarity than to any tactical negligence. The early signs are that these two players will be very influential for Toronto FC. At the back, TFC looked comfortable all game. Both Doneil Henry and Steven Caldwell had strong games, with Henry winning everything in the air. In Eddie Johnson and Fabian Espindola, DC United have two very experienced front men, but Henry and Caldwell thwarted everything that the pair could throw their way. THE TURNING POINT Only one goal separated the teams at the final whistle, and it came from great work from Torontos three designated players. Apparently, you do get what you pay for. On the hour mark, Bradley picked up a square ball from Osorio in midfield, took one touch and floated a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Gilberto, who had made a great run in behind DC Uniteds central defender, Jeff Parke. (Click for larger) Gilberto settled the ball with a perfect first touch, and as the covering defender, Bobby Boswell, was closing him down, fired a right-footed shot on target. Look at the positional awareness of Defoe when Gilberto is shooting; he put himself in the ideal position to pick up the rebound. He didnt charge in full-speed towards goal; instead, he held his run so that he could adjust his position, which gave him the best possible chance of recovering the ball. (Click for larger) DC United goalkeeper, Bill Hamid, did very well to parry the hard, low shot from Gilberto. Bobby Boswell tried to hack the ball clear, but Defoe, who had taken up the ideal position inside the penalty area, intercepted his clearance. (Click for larger) From there, Defoe did what he does best. He took one touch to set himself and one touch to fire the ball into the back of the net. THE POSITIVES In a scrappy game, it was encouraging to see the developing partnerships all over the pitch for Toronto FC. The strength of this team is its spine: Defoe-Gilberto / Bradley-Osorio / Caldwell-Henry / Julio Cesar is as good a spine as any team in MLS. If those players can stay healthy (and not miss too many games due to this summers World Cup), Toronto FC fans can look forward to playoff soccer for the first time in the clubs history. Defoe was a class apart against DC United. His movement to pull off the shoulders of the DC United defenders was something that all aspiring strikers should watch over and over again. But I thought that 20-year old Henry was immense for TFC. Ive said it before (and I promise you, Ill be saying it again) - Henry is going to be a real player. THE NEGATIVES Jackson had a game to forget, and I suspect that he could be getting a call from the Leagues Disciplinary Committee. In the 50th minute, Jackson was booked for an altercation with DC Uniteds Davy Arnaud. While the referee cautioned Jackson on the play, I think that video evidence will show that Jackson intentionally elbowed Arnaud off the ball – which could draw a suspension similar to the one received by Seattles Clint Dempsey for striking TFCs Mark Bloom last weekend. THE STAR MAN With three goals in his first two games in MLS, Defoe is off to a flying start for Toronto FC. Goals get the headlines – and rightly so – but it was Defoes overall play that was so impressive. His movement and finishing ability are superb, and if his teammates can continue to deliver him good service, it is quite possible that Defoe will sit atop the leagues scoring chart come the end of the season. Never before has Toronto FC started the season with two victories. But a major investment in better players is paying dividends early on for TFC as they sit joint top of the Eastern Conference standings with maximum points from their first two games. TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are changing directions on their rebuilding project -- again. Coach Greg Schiano was fired Monday after two losing years extended the franchises playoff drought to six seasons. General manager Mark Dominik was also ousted, ending an unsuccessful five-year stint that produced flashes of hope but far more disappointment than ownership felt was acceptable. "The results over the past two years have not lived up to our standards and we believe the time has come to find a new direction," Bucs co-chairman Bryan Glazer said in a brief statement released a day after a season-ending 42-17 loss to the New Orleans dropped Schianos record to 11-21. "Mark has been a valued member of our organization for two decades and we respect the passion he showed for the Buccaneers during his time here," Glazer added. "We thank Greg for his hard work and effort the past two seasons, but we feel these moves are necessary in order to achieve our goals." In typical Bucs fashion, the reclusive owners of the team announced the third coaching change in five years with a one paragraph statement and did not schedule a news conference to discuss the situation. Word broke less than 30 minutes after the team closed the locker room, where players were sorting through equipment and belongings before scattering for the off-season. They met with the coaching and medical staff for exit interviews and physicals and had not been informed of the dismissals before media was allowed into the room. Many, including Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, had hoped Schiano would keep his job. "Its tough for the players to see your coaches go. You never want to see anybody get fired," McCoy said after the announcement. "Me personally, I havent had any consistently in my career. Third head coach, going on my fifth year and three head coaches. Add up everybody, itll be six d-line coaches." The Bucs went 7-9 in their first season under Schiano, collapsing after a 6-4 start that had the team in playoff contention. After trading for three-time All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis and signing safety Dashon Goldson in free agency to bolster a porous defence, the team entered training camp this season with heightened expectations. But a messy split with former quarterback Josh Freeman, an outbreak of MRSA infections in the locker room and repoorts that Schiano was losing the support of players tiring of his rules and coaching style dogged the team during an 0-8 start that put the coachs job in jeopardy.dddddddddddd Despite having a rookie quarterback and finishing with 16 players on injured reserve, including running back Doug Martin and receiver Mike Williams, the Bucs went 4-4 over the second half of the season. That hardly seemed like progress, though, because the offence got progressively worse and finished last in the NFL in passing and total yardage. Still, players seemed impressed with the way Schiano held the team together, insisting right up until the end that the coach never lost the locker room. "In times like that you see a lot of guys crumble, a lot of guys break. You never saw a different attitude with him," McCoy said. "You could never see if the media was getting to him or see if anything we were doing was getting to him. He came in every day and was the same person, regardless," McCoy added. "... Hes the most consistent thing in the building, I will give him that." Schiano was hired in January 2012, leaving Rutgers to take over a team that ended its final 10 games under Raheem Morris on a 10-game losing streak. He inherited one the NFLs worst defences, but also a young quarterback in Freeman, who won 10 games in his first full season as a starter and became the franchises first 4,000-yard passer in Schianos first year in Tampa Bay. But Freemans relationship with Schiano soured when the Bucs dropped five of the final six games of 2012, with Freemans inconsistency contributing to the slide. The fifth-year quarterback was benched and subsequently released after an 0-3 start this season, replaced by rookie Mike Glennon, a third-round draft pick who went 4-9 in 13 starts. The Bucs have not made the playoffs since 2007. They havent won a post-season game since their 2002 Super Bowl run that produced the franchises only Super Bowl title. Part of the blame for the poor performance rests with Dominik, who was named general manager in 2009 -- the year Morris was promoted from defensive co-ordinator to replace former coach Jon Gruden. Dominik survived Morris firing after a 4-12 finish two years ago. But in the end, a spotty draft record, the mishandling of Freemans situation, and the teams 28-52 mark during a five-season tenure as GM became impossible to overlook. wholesale jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys china jerseys from china nfl jerseys cheap authentic cheap jerseys ' ' '

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have their hands full as they play on back-to-back nights and hit the road to face the streaking Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. Detroit is looking for its eighth victory in nine games, while the Leafs are enjoying their own 6-1-1 stretch. Toronto (15-9-3) is coming off a 4-1 home victory over the Calgary Flames. James van Riemsdyk had a goal and an assist and Phil Kessel scored for the third time in four games. The second period was one of the best periods we have played this season from a perspective of playing more of the style of hockey that is required for 60 minutes, coach Randy Carlyle said after his team outshot the Flames 13-4 in that stretch. They know this is the way were going to have to do it on a more regular basis. James Reimer gets the start in this contest to complete Torontos back-to-back set after Jonathan Bernier made 32 saves against the Flames. Reimer, 0-3-0 with a 3.96 GAA in four career games against Detroit, hasnt started since allowing six goals in a loss to Buffalo on Nov. 15. He allowed six goals in relief against Nashville in his most recent appearance Nov. 18. When the Red Wings fell at Toronto a little over two weeks ago, Pavel Datsyuk was still two games away from returning to the lineup while battling one of his multiple injuries this season. Theyve been on quite a roll since, with Datsyuk providing plenty of assistance. Datsyuk has missed 11 games for the Red Wings (17-6-5), including a 4-1 loss to Toronto on Nov. 22. Detroit has gone 7-1-0 since, with Datsyuk recording seven goals and four assists over the last six since returning from a groin injury. He had a goal and assisted on both of Tomas Tatars tallies in Sundays 3-1 win over Carolina, the Red Wings third straight victory. You always have more energy if you win, Datsyuk said. Its important that the team is sticking together. Tatar has three goals and four assists during a five-game point streak, and linemate Darren Helm has three goals and an assist during a three-game streak of his own. Were doing a good job and I hope we stay this way, Tatar said. I think Pavel is the best player Ive ever seen. We all know what he can do. When hes healthy, hes a big help for us. Detroit is tied with Tampa Bay atop the Atlantic Division one season after barely qualifying for the playoffs and losing in the first round to top-seeded Boston. Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg missed 28 games apiece due to injury. We battled through a lot of injuries last year throughout the year to a lot of key guys, Jimmy Howard, who had a 2.66 goals-against average in 2013-14 but has a 2.21 mark this season, told the teams official website. We felt coming into this year, with everyone getting healthy over the summer, we had a good team. Howard has won five of his last six starts since losing to Toronto, and hell be in goal again for this contest after having Sunday off. Detroit swept a home-and-home set Oct. 17 and 18 before Tyler Bozak scored twice in the Maple Leafs victory last month. Theyre a team that lives off transition, they want to get the puck onto their forwards sticks and make plays, Howard said. Its just important for us to keep going the way we have been, rolling four lines, keeping them off our D and having fun in the offensive zone. Howard is 3-1-1 with a 1.97 GAA in his last five against Toronto, which hosts Detroit on Saturday to complete the season series. Parise, Minnesotas first shooter, beat Devan Dubnyk with a wrist shot, but Antoine Vermette answered back for Arizona by firing the puck under the arm of Niklas Backstrom. Koivu skated up the left side, cut across the slot, and roofed the puck over Dubnyk. Tobias Rieders shot was wide to seal the win for the Wild. I thought that our guys, not only the urgency, the way that we executed and I thought it was a good job, Wild coach Mike Yeo said. Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Lauri Korpikoski and Vermette all lit the lamp for the Coyotes, who lost their ninth straight home game. Dubnyk made 32 stops in defeat. Jason Pominvilles shot from the left side of the net was blocked by an Arizona defender, but he gathered the rebound and sent a pass through the crease to Parise, who tapped in the puck for a power-play goal and a tied game with 5:53 remaining. Early in the extra session, Koivu was alone on the doorstep, but Dubnyk made a sensational glove save oon his backhander.dddddddddddd After Joe Vitale went off for holding, Niederreiter deflected Ryan Suters point shot past Dubnyk for a Minnesota lead 2:48 into the game. Arizona answered right back with a power-play goal of its own just 1:04 later as Ekman-Larsson skated up to the right circle and one-timed a cross-ice feed from Mikkel Boedker into the net for a tied game. Vermettes wrister from the high slot flipped off Backstroms blocker and back into the back of the net for a 2-1 Coyotes lead just 1:40 into the second. Zucker stripped a defender of the puck and finished off a breakaway by lifting a backhander over Dubnyk for a 2-2 score with 6:35 left in the middle stanza. CLEVELAND -- Brian Hoyers story, seemingly pulled from a Disney movie script, took a cruel turn. The Cleveland quarterbacks season is over. A lifelong Browns fan living out his boyhood dream by starting for his hometown team, Hoyer tore a knee ligament while running for a first down Thursday night against Buffalo and will miss the remainder of this season. Its a devastating blow for Hoyer, who had waited five years -- three as Tom Bradys backup in New England -- to become an NFL starter and led the Browns to wins over Minnesota and Cincinnati while replacing an injured Brandon Weeden. "This is disappointing," Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said Friday on a conference call. "Its an unfortunate thing." Chudzinski said an MRI taken Friday showed Hoyer tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He will undergo surgery, ending his feel-good story after just three starts and with the Browns (3-2) rolling. Chudzinski said there is no other damage in Hoyers knee, which got caught in the turf at FirstEnergy as he slid and was hit by Bills rookie linebacker Kiko Alonso. The usual recovery time is nine months to one year, but for Hoyer the injury stole a chance to prove to Clevelands front office he could be their franchise quarterback. Chudzinski said he spoke with Hoyer after getting the medical results. "Its hard on him," said Chudzinski. "Obviously hes disappointed, but if you know him and you know how positive he is and the type of person he is. Hes already thinking about when hes going to be back. I reassured him that as well. I wanted to let him know how much he meant to us and what he did. But hell be back. Hell make it back. Hes that type of guy. "Hes the kind of guy you dont doubt." Chudzinski said there are no immediate plans to sign another quarterback and Weeden will return as Clevelands starter. Signed by Cleveland as a free agent in May, Hoyer, released by New England, Pittsburgh and Arizona in the past year, began the season as Clevelands No. 3 quarterback. With Weeden out recovering from a sprained thumb, Hoyer made just his second NFL start in Week 3 and led the Browns to consecutive wins, directing clutch fourth-quarter drives and throwing clinching touchdown passes in both games. "He did a great job and he was a big reason why we won those games, but not the only reason," Chudzinski said, professing the "next-man up" mantra all NFL coaches maintain because of injuries. With the Browns trailing 7-0, Hoyer, flushed from the pocket, took off up field. He had just passed the first-down marker and was sliding when he took a blow near the helmet from Alonso in front of Clevelands sideline. Several Browns coaches and players screamed for a penalty as Hoyer lay face down in the grass. Chudzinski wouldnt say if he thought Alonso should have been given a personal foul. "If it was close," he said, "I dont think there was any intention there." With Hoyer out, Weeden, who returned from injury only to be demoted to a backup role, has his starting job back. Weeden replaced Hoyer against the Bills, and following a slow start -- some Browns fans booed his first few incompletions-- he rallied Cleveland to its third straight win. Weeden threw a 37-yard TD pass to wide receiver Josh Gordon in the third quarter and finished 13 of 24 for 197 yards. "The guys rallied around him," Chudzinski said. "It was a gutsy performance, and it wasnt always pretty. I think he was still a little bit rusty, but he got the job done and he was able to help us win that game. There were some ups and downs, but he was resilient and was able to make some big plays." Weeden was only cleared to play earlier in the week after he threw in Wednesdays practice. Chudzinski decided to have him as the Browns No. 2 quarterback and made Jason Campbell inactive against the Bills. Following the game, Weeden said he never lost faith despite being injured and dropping behind Hoyer on the depth chart. "I knew I couldnt, because regardless if I was the starter or not, eyes are on you," he said. "So I was upbeat the entire time, never let it bother me. It kind of lit a fire in me. I still needed to prepare, still needed to watch tape at night just in case something unfortunate happens." NOTES: Chudzinski said DE Desmond Bryant is "fine" after being kept overnight as a precaution at the Cleveland Clinic. Bryant was removed from the game with shortness of breath and an irregular heartbeat. Chudzinski expects Bryant to play next week against Detroit. Bryant had a similar problem last season with Oakland but played in the next game. ... OAKLAND, Calif. -- In one corner of the Golden State Warriors locker room, Stephen Curry iced a welt on the left side of his forehead. On the other, Jermaine ONeal limped out of the training room with bandages around his waist and wrist. The Warriors emerged from 53 minutes of basketball battered and bruised by the NBAs hottest team but delivered their own kind of knockout blows. Curry converted a tying layup with 3.2 seconds left in regulation and finished with 25 points, ONeal made a big-time block in overtime and the Warriors outlasted the Rockets 102-99 Thursday night to halt Houstons eight-game winning streak. "Thats one of our biggest wins of the year," said ONeal, who grabbed 10 rebounds and defended Dwight Howard as well as anybody has this season. Just after James Harden hit a go-ahead jumper, Curry came back with a left-handed layup over Howard to send the game to the extra session. The Warriors got a big boost in overtime when ONeal, who had surgery on his right wrist earlier this season and was filling in for injured centre Andrew Bogut, blocked Chandler Parsons baseline dunk attempt at the rim. Curry followed with two free throws to give Golden State a 98-95 lead with 15.9 seconds left. The teams traded free throws as the Rockets ran out of time. "There were so many big plays that we made both offensively and defensively," Warriors coach Mark Jackson said. "We were patient, we executed and it was just a big-time win for us." Harden scored 34 of his 39 points in the second half to rally the Rockets, but said he hyperextended his right elbow in a collision during the closing minutes. Harden had an X-ray but the results had not come back. Hes scheduled to have an MRI in Phoenix, where Houston plays its next game Sunday. "When it first happened, I thought it was over. I thought I broke it or whatever," said Harden, who stayed in the game. "Its still painful. Its throbbing but hopefully its nothing too serious." The Warriors outshot Houston 39.8 per cent to 36.6 per cent and made just enough plays late. David Lee had 28 points and 14 rebounds, and Klay Thompson and Jordan Crawford scored 12 points each in Golden States all-round defensive effort. Howard grabbed 21 rebounds, but scored just 11 points on 4-for-13 shooting, and Parsons added 21 points and eight rebounds as Houston lost for the first time since Jan. 25 at Memphis. It was the Rockets longest winning streak since a franchise-record, 22-game run in 2007-08 season.dddddddddddd "It just wasnt a crisp game for us," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. Playing on consecutive nights made for two tired teams until both picked up the intensity late in the fourth quarter. Harden stripped Lee as he turned to shoot out of the post, then hit a go-ahead shot from 23 feet over Thompson that put Houston ahead 89-87 with 6.9 seconds to play in regulation. After the Warriors called timeout to advance the ball to half court, Curry received a pass from Andre Iguodala while running off a screen and drove to his left and to the hoop. With Howard approaching, Curry floated a left-handed layup over the Rockets centre for the tying score before Harden missed a 3-pointer at the regulation buzzer. Curry said the play was designed for him to shoot a 3-pointer but defenders overplayed him. "At that point, it was just about getting into the lane as quick as possible and try to get it on the rim," said Curry, who was inadvertently bruised by Howards leg as the two dove for a loose ball earlier. "Dwight was there to protect and thankfully I was able to get a little bit of touch on it and it went in." The Warriors took control for good when Parsons sprinted down the baseline, received a pass from Harden and went up for a one-handed dunk only to be emphatically denied by the veteran ONeal, bringing the announced sellout crowd of 19,596 roaring to their feet. "He made a great play going baseline, and when youre big, you kind of look at it like being a free safety," ONeal said. "I wanted to make sure I got to the rim in time to save the dunk." "It was just perfect timing on his part," Parsons said. The Rockets were forced to foul Curry with time running out. He made both free throws, then the Warriors intentionally fouled Harden so he couldnt attempt a tying 3-pointer. Harden and Curry swapped free throws before the Warriors stole the ball to finish off a thrilling game between teams that could see each other in the Western Conference playoffs. ATLANTA -- Less than one month after the Clippers sale ended Donald Sterlings ugly downfall, another NBA team is on the market following a racially charged disclosure from its owner. Atlanta Hawks co-owner Bruce Levenson said Sunday he is selling his controlling interest in the team, thanks in part to an inflammatory email he wrote two years ago. Levenson said he wrote the email in an attempt to bridge Atlantas racial sports divide. Instead, he offered his divisive comments, including his theory that Hawks black fans kept white fans away. Levenson said he regrets the email sent to the teams co-owners and general manager Danny Ferry in 2012 as inappropriate and offensive. In a statement released by the team, Levenson said he sent the email due to his concerns about low attendance and a need to attract suburban whites. He says he later realized the email made it seem white fans were more important. He voluntarily reported the email to the NBA. I have said repeatedly that the NBA should have zero tolerance for racism, and I strongly believe that to be true, Levenson said in the statement. That is why I voluntarily reported my inappropriate email to the NBA. After much long and difficult contemplation, I have decided that it is in the best interests of the team, the Atlanta community, and the NBA to sell my controlling interest in the Hawks franchise. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Sunday the league will work with the Hawks ownership group and CEO Steve Koonin, who now will oversee all team operations. Silver said the leagues independent investigation regarding the circumstances of Mr. Levensons comments in the email was ongoing when he was told Saturday night of Levensons plan to sell his share of the team. Silver said he supported Levensons decision. As Mr. Levenson acknowledged, the views he expressed are entirely unacceptable and are in stark contrast to the core principles of the National Basketball Association, Silver said. He shared with me how truly remorseful he is for using those hurtful words and how apologetic he is to the entire NBA family -- fans, players, team employees, business partners and fellow team owners -- for having diverted attention away from our game. I commend Mr. Levenson for self-reporting to the league office, for being fully co-operative with the league and its independent investigator, and for putting the best interests of the Hawks, the Atlanta community, and the NBA first. Sterling was forced to sell the Los Angeles Clippers after a recording surfaced in April of the owner scolding his girlfriend for bringing black men to Clippers games. Steve Ballmer officially became the teams new owner on Aug. 12. In the email sent in August 2012, Levenson said southern whites were uncomfortable at games. My theory is that the black crowd scared away the whites and there are simply not enough affluent black fans to build a significant season ticket base, Levenson said in the email released Sunday by the Hawks. Please dont get me wrong. There was nothing threatening going on in the arena back then. I never felt uncomfortable, but I think southern whites simply were not comfortable being in an arena or at a bar where they were in the minority. Levenson said Hawks crowds were 70 per cent black, the teams cheerleaders were black and hip-hop music was played. Then I start looking around at other arenas, Levenson said. It is completely different. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Atlantas population was 54 per cent black and 38.4-per cent white in 2010. For metro Atlanta, the ratio is 55.4 per cent white and 32.4 per cent black. Levenson said he often heard fans say the area around Philips Arena in downtown Atlanta is dangerous. This was just racist garbage, Levenson said. When I hear some people saying the arena is in the wrong place I think it is code for there are too many blacks at the games. Though he said he disagreed with the conclusion, he said he told team executives to add white cheerleaders and music familiar to a 40-year-old white guy. Added Levenson in the email: I have even (complained) that the kiss cam is too black. Atlanta mayor Kasim Reed said the comments in Levensons email were reprehensible and offensive. The statements do not represent the city of Atlantas history of diversity and inclusion, and we will be clear and deliberate in denouncing and repudiating them, Reed said. I applaud the NBAs efforts to enforce a no-tolerance policy of discrimination. As a city, we will continue to stand behind the Atlanta Hawks organization as they work to find new ownership that reflects the values and ideals of a city that is too busy to hate. The Rev. Al Sharpton released a statement encouraging Silver to continue vetting all owners. The announcement by Bruce Levenson is welcomed and appropriate by those of us in the civil rights community, that raised the issue of Donald Sterlings need to be removed, and that other owners must be held accountable, Sharpton said. Though the NBA investigation of the email was ongoing, Levenson apparently concluded he couldnt continue in his ownership role. If youre angry about what I wrote, you should be, Levenson said in Sundays statement. Im angry at myself, too. It was inflammatory nonsense. We all may have subtle biases and preconceptions when it comes to race, but my role as a leader is to challenge them, not to validate or accommodate those who might hold them. This is not Levensons first effort to sell the team. In 2011, the Hawks ownership group, headed by Levenson and Michael Gearon Jr., made an unsuccessful attempt to sell to California developer and pizza chain owner Alex Meruelo. The group acquired the Hawks and the NHL Thrashers from Time Warner in 2004. The Thrashers were sold and moved to Winnipeg in 2011. Abdul-Jabbar Lakers Jersey . NEW ORLEANS -- Rudy Gay went from ejection to redemption in just a couple of days. One game after a miserable showing in Oklahoma City, Gay tied a career high with 41 points and the Sacramento Kings cruised to a 114-97 victory at the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night. "Honestly, I didnt even know how much I scored," Gay said. "It was more about getting the win." In a loss two nights earlier to the Thunder, Gay scored only six points before being sent off the court with two technical fouls in the fourth quarter. But Gay hit 16 of 25 shots in the Big Easy, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range, to match a point total he last put up on Dec. 13, 2009, in Miami. It was going so well for Gay that he casually walked the ball up the court with an eye on the clock late in the third quarter, and then drilled a pull-up jumper from 27 feet. "He put on a show tonight, coming off a game in Oklahoma City where he didnt play very well and got thrown out," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "He wanted to bounce back and show everybody what he is capable of." DeMarcus Cousins had 18 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks for the Kings, who have won five of eight. Isaiah Thomas added 20 points and 11 assists. "When in doubt, go to Rudy and youll get an assist," Thomas said. "He really carried us tonight." Tyreke Evans scored 17 for New Orleans, which trimmed a 23-point deficit to six shortly before halftime, only to fall behind by 23 again in the third quarter and remain behind by double digits the rest of the way. Anthony Davis scored 16 points and blocked four shots, and New Orleans rookie centre Jeff Withey had a career-high 14 points, but that was not nearly enough to prevent the Pelicans from losing for the ninth time in 10 games. The latest loss came one night after the Pelicans snapped an eight-game skid in Memphis. "We just didnt have a lot of juice collectively from our starters tonight and certainly didnt play with any kind of intensity that was comparable to what we did last night," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. "That is just part of being a pro and understanding that when you have an emotional win like we did last night, theres a quick turnaround." Quincy Acy grabbed 10 rebounds for the Kings, who outrebounded New Orleanns 46-35.dddddddddddd The Kings were the sharper team from the outset, shooting 70 per cent (14 of 20) in the first period, during which they scored 38 points and built an 18-point lead. "Obviously I could point to a few things, but that would be emotional and I dont want to do that," Williams said. "Theres some things Ive discussed with our team that they need to be better at, and they understand. ... Were not the type of team that can just put our jersey on and step onto the floor. Weve got to go out and play with a high level of energy." New Orleans had 10 players in uniform, out of 15 on the roster. Ryan Anderson (herniated disk), Jrue Holiday (stress fracture, right shin) and Jason Smith (right knee) were injured. Reserve shooting guard Anthony Morrow was sick and newly acquired guard Tyshawn Taylor was not with the team. All 10 active players had checked in before the first quarter ended, in part because four players --Davis, Al-Farouq Aminu, Greg Stiemsma and Alexis Ajinca -- each had two fouls in the period. The Kings lead grew to 23 on Gays 3 midway through the second quarter, and it might have been worse if not for Witheys 12 points in the period. New Orleans enjoyed momentum for only the last half of the second period, scoring on 10 of its last 11 possessions. Witheys dunk sparked a 12-3 spurt, capped by Roberts fast-break layup. Next came an 11-2 run during which Evans scored eight, trimming Sacramentos lead to six before Derrick Williams free throws gave the Kings a 64-56 halftime lead. The Pelicans second-quarter surge put them in striking distance of a memorable comeback, but Sacramento opened the third with a 17-4 run. The surge began with two baskets by Cousins and included two 3s by Gay, the second making it 83-60. "When we play that type of basketball, were a tough team to beat," Cousins said. "Weve got a long way to go to grow as a team, but were definitely on the right path." NOTES: The Kings conclude a six-game road trip Wednesday night at Houston. They are 2-3 on the trip so far. ... Former Montreal Alouettes president Larry Smith denies that the CFL team falsely promoted sold-out games in order to ensure government funding that helped expand Percival Molson Stadium to 25,000 seats for the beginning of the 2010 season. A report Wednesday in La Presse, based on two unnamed Alouette sources, challenged the teams claim of 105 consecutive sellouts which ended last week when the team opened its 2011 season with nearly 2,700 empty seats. But Smith, who is now a Senator, claims all tickets leading up to this season were sold and that the team netted $12 million in ticket revenue last season. "No tickets have ever been given away," said Smith. Smith said the there was no incentive for the Als to falsely announce sellouts since the funding for stadium expansion was in no way tied to attendance. Cost of the $29.4 million expansion was shared by the local and provincial governments, and team owner Robert Wetenhall who contributed $6 million. Smith believes the disappointing crowd for Montreals season-opener on June 30th is attributable to "disastrous" access to the stadium due to road construction and bridge repair in Montreal. Canada, which is currently ninth in the series standings, is coming off three impressive performances in the U.S., New Zealand and Japan, where it qualified for the quarter-finals of the elite Cup competition each time. Nanyak Dala, Conor Trainor and Sean White also scored tries Friday for Canada, which will face No. 8 Argentina and No. 4 England on Saturday. Captain Nathan Hirayama, who missed the final day of action in Tokyo last time out due to injury, converted all five Canadian tries. Pedro Bettencourt had the lone try for No. 14 Portugal. Moonlight opened the scoring with a try just 39 seconds into the match. Hirayama then converted tries from Dala and Trainor to put Canada up 21-0 by the 7:20 mark of the first half. Bettencourt got Portugal on the board late, cutting Canadas lead to 21-7 at the break. Moonlight struck quickly to open the second half with a try 50 seconds in. Tuesdays game between the Carolina Hurricanes and Philadelphia Flyers has been postponed due to a winter storm in the Philadelphia area. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday. In addition, the league announced that the Hurricanes scheduled home game against the Ottawa Senators on Friday night has been moved to Saturday, Jan. 25. Fridays game had to be moved due to a league rule preventing teams from playing games on three consecutive days. The Hurricanes face the Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center on Thursday. The cash-strapped government wants to put an end to a policy that allows businesses to write off up to 50 per cent of all tickets and luxury suites for sporting events and is asking the federal Conservatives to help. The tax writeoff also applies to other live performances like theatre and concerts and costs the province about $15 million a year. But the Senators, which operate in a smaller market than the Maple Leafs, cant survive without the tax deduction, said team president Cyril Leeder. "We have a sizable portion of our operation thats run based on corporate support for suites and for tickets," he said. "So if we had a 10 per cent to 20 per cent loss of that business, we would be out of business." Corporations lease 120 of the 150 luxury suites at Ottawas Scotiabank Place, he said. About half of their season ticket holders -- who take up 11,000 of the arenas 19,000 seats -- are businesses. And theres no waiting list for suites or season tickets, he said. If someone pulls out, theres no one waiting in the wings to take their place. "I just know that in our case -- and I think in the case of a lot of other sports teams in Ontario and in Canada -- were not completely sold out and we dont operate with waiting lists and we operate very close to the margin of viability, and we cant afford to take a big hit to the support that we rely on," he said. Infraastructure and Transport Minister Bob Chiarelli, a former Ottawa mayor who holds one of the citys ridings, played down the prospect of driving his home team out of business.dddddddddddd. There are a lot of elements that determine the sustainability of the Senators, including the rise of the loonie, which is a "huge bonus" for teams that pay their players in U.S. dollars, he said. "Certainly the governments have been very supportive in a number of ways over the years to the Ottawa Senators, the Canadian dollar has been very helpful to the Ottawa Senators," Chiarelli said. "So I think were jumping the gun in terms of assuming that it might be a done deal." The province will work "collaboratively" with the Senators on the tax issue, he vowed. "Its not a done deal, its a list of possible considerations on which the federal and provincial governments would have to work together," Chiarelli said. Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan sent a letter to his federal counterpart, Jim Flaherty, requesting co-operation on a list of proposed changes to the tax system. "It is not clear that taxpayers should be subsidizing certain business expenses for income and sales tax purposes, such as private boxes and corporate seats at sporting events," Duncan wrote. Duncan said Thursday that hell respond to Leeders advice in his upcoming spring budget, which is expected to be tabled before the end of March. "Obviously, we want the Senators to continue and hopefully eventually win a Stanley Cup," he said. wholesale jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys china jerseys from china nfl jerseys cheap authentic cheap jerseys ' ' '

His career wasnt even a minute old and the Brampton, Ont., native was already leaving his mark on Kansas. While Wiggins disappeared at times, the highly touted freshman dazzled at others, finishing with 16 points in leading the fifth-ranked Jayhawks to an 80-63 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Friday night. "He did some good things," Jayhawks coach Bill Self said. "I think he can be more aggressive, but I think all the guys can be more aggressive." Aggressive may not have been such a good thing on this night, though. New rules designed to clamp down on hand-checking resulted in 58 fouls and a slew of free throws. It also resulted in a herky-jerky affair for both sides. "Im telling them not to freak out. Thats what Im telling them," Warhawks coach Keith Richard said. "The players have to adjust and not lose their minds. Its not going away, and so its difficult. It sure is. And there were some bad calls tonight, pitiful, but both ways." Andrew White III and Perry Ellis finished 12 points each for the youthful Jayhawks, who wont have a whole lot of time for all their freshmen to work out the kinks. Kansas, which is replacing all five starters from last season, plays No. 4 Duke on Tuesday night in Chicago. "Its going to be a pretty good matchup, two high-profile teams," White said, "but were not paying too much attention to the hype thats out there." Marvin Williams had 19 points and six rebounds to lead the Warhawks, who sure didnt look like a team that won just four games last season. They trailed 47-41 early in the second half before the quicker more physical Jayhawks finally went on a 15-5 run to seize control. Williams fouled out with 8:16 left in the game, and Louisiana-Monroe struggled the rest of the way as Wiggins and Co. made the final score appear much more comfortable. "Obviously we want to come out and win bigger than we did, and finish the game off stronger, but were still fresh," senior transfer Tarik Black said. "Were still learning each other." The Jayhawks started three freshmen in Wiggins, Selden and Frank Mason, who got the nod at pointt guard with junior Naadir Tharpe serving a one-game suspension for playing in an unauthorized summer league game.dddddddddddd Black also was in the starting lineup after arriving from Memphis. That left Perry Ellis as the only holdover from last season in the starting five. Still, the unknown of all the fresh faces resulted in the same kind of energy inside Allen Fieldhouse that has accompanied just about every other home opener -- Kansas has won 42 of them in a row. Students waited in lines hours before the doors opened before rushing to their seats. All that fervour quickly subsided when it became apparent how far Kansas has to go. Consecutive dunks by Williams in the first half, the second one after a turnover by Wiggins at the other end, gave the Warhawks a 15-13 lead and forced the Jayhawks to call a timeout. "I definitely felt like we were in the game," Williams said. Making waves of substitutions, Kansas methodically regained the lead, and then pulled away on a jumper by Brannen Greene and a parade of free throws. But it was still just 42-32 at halftime, and Selfs jaw was clenched as he followed his team to the locker room. He wasnt any happier early in the second half, when the Warhawks had closed to within 47-41 and Mason was whistled for a foul on a loose ball. Self stomped up the sideline, his face red in fury, and screamed at the officials while the crowd roared their disapproval. Asked whether he was surprised that he didnt get called for a technical foul, Self replied: "I would say that would be an accurate observation. Yeah, probably so." His impassioned tirade finally woke the Jayhawks from their slumber. Black scored moments later to kick off a 15-5 spurt that allowed Kansas to seize control. Wiggins coasted to the rim for two layups during the run, and White knocked down a 3-pointer off a feed from Connor Frankamp, then converted a conventional three-point player. Louisiana-Monroe got into foul trouble down the stretch -- Tylor Ongwae picked up his fifth with 14:40 to go, and Williams picked up his fifth 6 minutes later. The Jayhawks took advantage of the Warhawks lack of depth to put the game away. "Its an entire team of younguns, and its going to be frustrating from time to time," Self said, "but hopefully it will be very rewarding at the end." wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

ARLINGTON, Texas - After Philip Rivers and Peyton Manning torched their defence, the Dallas Cowboys get no respite. Up next are Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins. The 2011 Heisman Trophy winner from Baylor returns to Texas after embarrassing Dallas with a huge second quarter to win his first NFL game in his home state last Thanksgiving. Coverage begins with Football Night in America, tonight at 7pm et/4pm pt on TSN. Kickoff follows at 8:15pm et/5:15pm pt. Dallas defenders are at a low point again because Tony Romos franchise-record 506 yards passing and five touchdowns werent enough in a 51-48 loss to Manning and Denver last weekend. "Weve got a sense of pride in this group," Dallas defensive tackle Jason Hatcher said. "I know Im hurting because Im part of this defence. One thing weve got to do, weve got to clean it up. We got another good quarterback coming in here." The Redskins go into Sunday nights game at the $1.2 billion home of the Cowboys with similar problems. Theyre last in the NFL in passing defence, one spot behind Dallas. But Washington is coming off a win over Oakland and a bye after starting the season 0-3, while the Cowboys are trying to avoid their first three-game losing streak since 2010. "Yeah, that was our goal — go into that last game before the bye week, get the win, allow that momentum to carry us the rest of the way throughout the season," said Griffin, who threw for more than 300 yards in all three losses. "I think everybody has the right mindset coming back rejuvenated, ready to go." Griffin and Alfred Morris combined to give Washington its first sweep of Dallas since 2005 last year. Griffin completed all eight passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns in a 28-point second quarter, and the Redskins held on for a 38-31 win on Thanksgiving. In the finale with the NFC East title on the line, Morris rushed for a career-high 200 yards and three scores in a 28-18 victory. That put the Redskins in the playoffs for the first time in five years and extended Dallas post-season drought to three years. But now Griffin is less of a dual threat while he continues his recovery from knee surgery, and Morris isnt getting the same number of carries because the Redskins fell behind in all three losses. "Theyre best when they hand him the ball," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said of Morris. "Hes a good football player and they want to run the football. And we have to be prepared to stop him because a lot of what they do comes off his success running the football." Here are five things to know as the Redskins go for their first three-game winning streak against the Cowboys since 1988: ROUGH WEEK FOR ROMO: Hes getting beaten up again for another late-game mistake that spoiled an otherwise sublime day. This time it was Danny Trevathans interception at the Dallas 24 in the final two minutes, leading to Denvers winning field as time expired. "He played his butt off," Hatcher said. "We didnt give them a chance to win. So its on the defence." NICKNAME DEBATE: The Redskins are playing their first game since President Barack Obama joined others in saying the team should consider changing its nickname over concerns that its offensive to Native Americans. And this week, owner Daniel Snyder renewed his support of the name in a letter to season ticket-holders. "You dont want to minimize anything thats going on outside of these walls, but inside these walls we have to focus on football and thats what our goal has to be," Griffin said. BEVY OF RECEIVERS: Dallas rookie Terrance Williams had a career-high 151 yards with Miles Austin out for a second straight game with a hamstring problem. It appears Austin will be back, which means Romo has six guys who have made big plays in the passing game this year. Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Gavin Escobar and Cole Beasley are the others. "Theres no other way to put it," said Bryant, who has six touchdowns. "We are explosive. Thats our identity: our explosive offence." BACK FROM SUSPENSION: Defensive end Jarvis Jenkins and linebacker Rob Jackson will play their first games for the Redskins since their four-game suspensions ended last week. Jenkins tested positive for a banned performance enhancing substance, while Jackson was suspended under the NFLs drug policy. Both said their violations were unintentional. QB PRESSURE: These teams are trending in opposite directions with the pass rush. The Cowboys had just one sack total against Rivers and Manning after getting 13 the first three games. The Redskins had a season-high seven against the Raiders, just the second time theyve had that many since 2010. ___ Online: AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org ___ Follow Schuyler Dixon on Twitter at https://twitter.com/apschuyler Cheap NFL Jerseys . The Ottawa Senators owner voiced his disappointment over the teams performance this season in a conference call with media Tuesday, and said changes could be coming. Melnyk said he and general manager Bryan Murray are "in the process of evaluating everything, our players, our prospects and our coaching staff." "Definitely not a wholesale change, we just need to show up more often," Melnyk added. "I think we need leadership. I think we need accountability from top to bottom and thats more of a mindset and it could also reflect the maturity of the team and as they mature, dont kid yourself, because I did some exit interviews and these are not happy campers." While there had been speculation that head coach Paul MacLean could be relieved of his duties, that doesnt appear to be the case. "I think its pretty certain, well I can assure you Pauls our coach," said Melnyk. "And hes going to be our coach going into next year, but were evaluating everything within the hockey operations, but as far as the leadership is concerned thats staying put." Thats not to say management was overly impressed with MacLeans performance this past season. "They should have done better," said Murray of the coaching staff. "Unless you win a championship I think you can say that about everybody. I think there were some stages in the year where maybe a different decision could have been made." On Monday MacLean admitted that he went into the season with the belief that he needed to be more demanding of his players, and Murray said it probably wasnt the wisest strategy. "My note to him today was the players like the old Paul," Murray said. "They like the guy that sat and talked to them, treated them in a more easy-going fashion, that taught, not confronted. "There were some mistakes made obviously. You dont go to some of your better players and confront them early in the year and expect change. The change is usually in the negative form. I think what Paul did two years leading up to this was a real strong indication of the type of coach he is. I think as you go through your career you learn lots of things and I think its a stage that hell be much better because of it." Murrays biggest decision in the off-season could be whether or not to move captain Jason Spezza. Spezza has one more year remaining on a contract that has a cap hit of US$7 million, but a salary of $4 million. Speculation of Spezza being traded surfaced at the trade deadline and one has to wonder if the Senators feel now is the time to make a significant change. "I think Jason understands what his role was and is," said Melnyk. "Hes a professional. He understands youre here today, could be gone tomorrow. "Its very dependent on what other pieces we have to put together and I think at the end of the day hes just one of 20 plus players that participated this year and we just didnt get it done. " Murray said Spezza was one of five players going into the final year of a contract and that all five, in addition to this years three unrestricted free agents, would be evaluated.dddddddddddd "Im not sure why Jason is the single guy here being evaluated," Murray said. "Number one I guess maybe he wore the C and thats part of it, but we, I believe, have five guys going into their last year and decisions have to be made and they will be made at the right time." The Senators actually have six players entering the final year of their contract including Spezza. Bobby Ryan, Clarke MacArthur, Erik Condra, Marc Methot and Craig Anderson will all be looking for new contracts next season. At this point it seems Ryan could be the first to re-sign as both parties seem eager to come to terms on a new agreement. Milan Michalek, Ales Hemsky and Matt Kassian are all unrestricted free agents this season and it appears Michalek could be the only one returning. Murray said Kassian isnt in his plans and he didnt believe the Senators were in Kassians plans. As for Hemsky, it doesnt appear he will return. Michalek has expressed an interest in returning and its likely term and money will play a factor. The Senators have a number of young players who will be pushing for playing time and they want to ensure theres room. Murray said Mark Stone, who played 19 games this season and had eight points (4 goals, 4 assists), now looks like an NHL player and was impressed with Jean-Gabriel Pageaus play late in the season. He also mentioned that Curtis Lazar looks to be NHL ready and will be pushing for a roster spot as well as a few others who are currently playing in Binghamton. In addition, Murray said the Senators would like to find a tougher forward. The Senators have three restricted free agents, Mike Hoffman, Eric Gryba and Robin Lehner, that Murray will need to make decisions on. Lehner, 22, will likely be the priority, considering Anderson will be heading into the final year of his contract. "I still think to be a good team in the league you need two goaltenders," Murray said. "You need both that can win games for you. I think Robins very close (to being a number one goalie). I think if we gave him the stick and said go in the net and play every night I think he could win a lot of hockey games for us." Financially the Senators are in good shape, but they dont anticipate significantly increasing their salary structure. "Its very, very easy to increase payroll, any idiot can do it and a lot of idiots do and they overspend and they go to the cap and Ive done it twice and both times it didnt make an impact," Melnyk said. The Senators owner says he prefers to spend money on various resources that can be used in the development of players on the roster and in the minors. Notes: Much was made last Saturday when Kassian didnt dress for the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, but Murray said a decision had been made earlier in the day when a call between he and Toronto GM Dave Nonis took place. Nonis wanted to call up a young player, but was concerned that if Kassian was in the lineup things could get physical and so Murray assured Nonis he wouldnt play Kassian. wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

SEATTLE - Fresh off spending more than two hours winding his way in front of a parade crowd that surpassed the population of Seattle, Pete Carroll was ready for the post-season to finally arrive. Perhaps Carroll was so prepared for a break because he believes there is very little the Seattle Seahawks need heading into the off-season. "I dont see anything that we need to add. We just have to get better," Carroll said. "These players know that they got better all the way to the last game of the season. Thats always out there for us and that will continue to be our focus." Carroll and his team were feted in grand fashion on Wednesday, enjoying the first championship parade for a team in one of the four major sports in the city of Seattle since 1979. Seattle officials estimated the crowd along the parade route at 700,000 while owner Paul Allen, addressing a celebration at CenturyLink Field, said it was 1 million fans that crammed downtown streets. Carroll was at the front of the parade and later was leading the charge that this team he helped put together is not expecting to be a one-year wonder. "They have come together to do something very special and its not just one year," Carroll told the crowd. "Were just getting warmed up if you know what Im talking about." That means Carroll doesnt believe the Seahawks need to make major off-season additions as they did a year ago when Seattle signed defensive linemen Cliff Avril, Tony McDaniel and Michael Bennett in free agency and traded for Percy Harvin. Seattle will continue to mine the draft for gems like those they have found in the past and look at free agency but Carroll said they are very comfortable with the roster they have moving forward. "The priority is for us to get back to work and work really hard again. Thats going to be more important. Its not going to be something from the outside of us. We have what we need, we just need to get back to work when the time comes with the right attitude and the right focus. Thats all Im concerned about." It appears Seattles free agency focus will be on trying to retain players on its current roster that could be coveted by others. Wide receiver Golden Tate and Bennett will both be free agents in the off-season and both expressed their desire to return to Seattle. Tate is at the end of his rookie contract, while Bennett gambled on a one-year deal with Seattle last off-season and now could be in line for a significant pay increase after a standout season with a team-high 8 1/2 sacks in the regular season and another 1 1/2 in the playoffs. Bennett became the interior pass rusher that Carroll has sought since his arrival in Seattle and part of a defensive line rotation that caused havoc. "I want to be back here 100 per cent," Bennett said. "I love the team. I love my teammates. Pete does a great job letting us play. I want to be a part of that. I know we can go back and win a Super Bowl again with all of these guys." Tate was Seattles leading receiver this season, his fourth with the team after being a second-round pick in 2010 as part of Carrolls first draft class. Tate said he would consider accepting a "little" less money for a chance to stay with the Seahawks. "In my eyes I would rather stay and play in a great organization, in a great city, around great people, around great teammates for a little less than go to a crappy city and win a ball game every now and then and be miserable for six months and have a fan base that doesnt care about the sport," Tate said. "Youve got to give a little or take a little, whatever. Well see how it works out. Hopefully, it does work out. I think Ive done everything in my power to earn the trust and respect of this organization." Carroll said Seattle will go into the off-season very healthy, the only lingering concern being a possible surgery on the toe of left tackle Russell Okung, who was injured in Week 2 against San Francisco and aggravated it later in the season. Harvin came out of the Super Bowl fine with his hip and now gets an entire off-season to get healthy. Giants trainer Dave Groeschner said Wilson was getting extensive treatment and put his status as day to day. But the right-hander was definitely unavailable for Thursday nights game against the Braves. Wilson reported the pain after blowing a save Monday night. He gave up three runs in the ninth as the Braves pulled out a 5-4 victory. Wilson flew to Pensacola, Fla., on Wednesday to get his elbow checked out by Dr. James Andrews, who performed major elbow surgery on the reliever eight years ago. Andrews found no major problems, sending Wilson back to Atlanta with a recommendation of rest and treatment. But he will continue to monitor Wilsons progress by telephone. "Any time a guy says his elbow is tight and sore, you always worry about that," Groeschner said. "I think Brian has the ultimate respect forr Dr.dddddddddddd Andrews, as do we. It was good for him to go see the man, put his mind at ease a little bit, too." Persuaded that Wilson wont be out for an extended period, the Giants decided not to put him on the disabled list right away. "Hes our closer," the trainer said. "Hes the best guy weve got in the bullpen. Even if it takes a few extra days, wed rather have him. If (the DL was) what wed gotten from Dr. Andrews, we would have done it. But that wasnt his recommendation." Still, theres no timetable on when Wilson might be able to pitch again. "He has a remarkable ability to recover, so I wouldnt put anything past him," Groeschner said. "But we also need to make sure hes healthy." On Monday, the Giants placed outfielder Carlos Beltran and pitcher Sergio Romo on the DL. They already lost catcher Buster Posey, last years NL Rookie of the Year, to a season-ending injury. ------ AP freelancer Amy Jinkner-Lloyd contributed to this report. wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

DENVER - Semyon Varlamov was nearly unbeatable in regulation and overtime. He couldnt match it with the game on the line.Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski scored in the shootout to help the San Jose Sharks beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 on Tuesday night.Antti Niemi stopped 31 shots and both Avalanche players in the shootout to give the Sharks the win.Varlamov had a season-high 49 saves, many of them highlight worthy. He kept the Sharks frustrated through overtime but didnt make a save in the shootout. We finally made a couple good shots to beat him, Pavelski said.Alex Tanguay and Gabriel Landeskog scored in regulation for the Avalanche, who have one win in four home games this season.Marleau and Pavelski came through as the first two shooters to put the pressure on Colorado in the shootout. Niemi stopped Tanguay and then made a glove save on Matt Duchene to end the game. Were happy we got two points. We played a good game, a good 60 minutes, Niemi said. We were able to get chances in all the periods. We played well, we (just) couldnt score. It was a frustrating end for Colorado, which fell to 0-3-1 in games decided after regulation. This was the Avalanches first shootout loss. After a stingy first two periods the teams scored goals 1:59 apart in the third. Landeskog gave Colorado a 2-1 lead with his fourth goal of the season 3:04 in the period. Logan Couture answered when he scored on a rebound at 5:03.San Jose reached its season high in shots with more than three minutes left in the second period. The Sharks were swarming Varlamov but he had big saves on Pavelski, Marleau and Joe Thornton to keep Colorado close.I felt pretty good, but we need points right now, Varlamov said. Every point is very important. We want to win every game and there is frustration, but I think we played a solid game. We had a couple chances around the net.His skaters finally came through on a short-handed chance late in the second. Erik Johnsons clearing attempt to the San Jose blueline was mishandled by Burns and scooped up by Tanguay. Tanguay skated around Couture and beat Niemi high to tie it at 1-1. It was his fourth goal of the season.San Jose had a 41-17 shot advantage heading into the third.Niemi was rarely tested in the first two periods but had to come up with some big saves in the third period and overtime. Colorado had a power play in the final 1:05 of the extra period and had chances to end it but couldnt cash in.Niemi made a save on Duchene as the horn sounded to end overtime. That was a big save, and it really did give us confidence going forward, Niemi said. The Sharks led 1-0 after the first despite outplaying Colorado for the entire period. San Jose held a 23-8 advantage in shots and at one point had 14 straight on Varlamov. The only one to get past him was Brett Burns tip of Mirco Muellers shot from the point at 9:23 of the period. He was outstanding, he made some incredible saves, especially in the first where we were struggling a lot, Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said. After they took a 1-0 lead we just lost our focus. That part of the game was not very pretty for us.The Sharks had other opportunities to score. Tomas Hertl had an open net but his backhand hit the crossbar. They also had numerous odd-man rushes but couldnt capitalize on them.We said all the right things before the game, we were ready to, but then the Sharks just pounced on us and they were better than us in the first period, Avalanche forward Jamie McGinn said. Varly gave us a chance to stay in it and win the game. Our second period was better but still not good enough. It;s just unacceptable to have that kind of start.Colorado, despite being dominated, nearly tied it on Duchenes shot with 1.5 seconds left in the period but Niemi made a diving glove save to keep San Jose in the lead.NOTES: Johnson played despite suffering a hit to the head in Sundays loss at Winnipeg.
