The New York Rangers stayed alive in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final thanks to a brilliant performance from Henrik Lundqvist. However, the Los Angeles Kings will get another shot at winning their second championship in three years when the clubs meet tonight at Staples Center. You can listen to the game on TSN Radio at 8pm et/5pm pt and watch the post-game news conferences on TSN.ca and TSN GO. The Rangers lost the first three tests of this best-of-seven set, but finally broke through with a 2-1 victory Wednesday in New York. Lundqvist was the clear star for the Blueshirts, stopping 40 shots, including all 15 in a frantic third period to keep Los Angeles from mounting another comeback win in this series. Martin St. Louis netted the deciding goal early in the second to help the Rangers push the series to tonights Game 5 battle in the City of Angels. Faced with the prospect of being the first team to be swept out of the Stanley Cup Finals since Detroit beat the Washington Capitals in 1998, Lundqvist and his club improved to 11-2 in their last 13 elimination games and 5-0 during these playoffs. "We didnt want that Cup out on our home ice. The thought of it makes me sick," Lundqvist admitted. "Its about competing, you have to be extremely focused, one mistake and the seasons over. Exciting. Tough, but fun." The 32-year-old Swedish starter now owns an 8-0 record, 0.99 GAA, a .968 save percentage and two shutouts in his last eight games when facing elimination at home. Benoit Pouliot recorded a first-period tally for the Rangers, who hung on despite posting only one shot in the games final 20 minutes. Pouliots goal ended Kings goaltender Jonathan Quicks shutout streak at 123 minutes, 1 second. Dustin Brown scored and Quick made 17 saves for the Kings, who have a chance to celebrate winning their second Cup on home ice since 2012. L.A. beat New Jersey in six games for the crown in 2012. The Kings also opened a 3-0 lead in that series, but lost two straight before lifting the Cup at the Staples Center in Game 6. "It doesnt mean a whole lot. We wanted to close it out tonight, and we didnt do it," said Kings forward Anze Kopitar of being unable to sweep the Rangers. "But now were going home, and were going to try to close it there." In addition to a superb performance from their star goaltender, the Rangers also received the benefit of some "puck luck" in posting the franchises first Cup Finals victory on home ice since the clinching Game 7 of the 1994 Finals against Vancouver. Their second one led to the game winner. During an odd-man rush, Derek Stepan attempted a dish to Chris Kreider in the slot, but his stick shattered and the puck slid off a Kings defender before snaking under a needlessly-sliding Quick. St. Louis wisely stayed in position on the left wing and tapped the puck in from the near-side post at the 6:27 mark of the second period to give the hosts a 2-0 advantage. Brown halved the Kings deficit with 8:46 played on a breakaway, moving past Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi -- whose stick shattered at the right point -- and beating Lundqvist after several dekes from atop the crease. The score came two seconds after a Tyler Toffoli slashing minor expired. Los Angeles offense seemed to kick into another gear at that point, but Lundqvist stayed calm under the onslaught to prevent the Kings from claiming another win after falling behind 2-0 in a game. The Rangers blew two-goal leads en route to losing both Games 1 and 2 at L.A. beyond regulation, but were able to survive Game 4 with the win. On two occasions in Wednesdays game, the puck sat on the goal line behind Lundqvist and went no further thanks to a little help from his teammates. Midway through the first period, Jeff Carter had a prime chance to knot the score at 1-1 when a puck trickled between Lundqvists pads and headed for goal. Carter, however, failed to connect on his first chance and Rangers defenseman Anton Stralman was able to clear the disc out of harms way before the Kings forward could get a second crack at it. With time winding down in the third period, the situation repeated itself. Only this time, a bit of snow on the ice and the glove hand of New Yorks Derek Stepan saved the day. The puck found its way between Lundqvists pads again and slowed down just before the goal line when Stepan swept it out of danger with his fingertips. "Its not easy. The stress level is a little high obviously when the puck is laying there on the goal line," said St. Louis. "We had a little puck luck tonight. And you take those." The Rangers have won an NHL record eight straight home playoff games when their season was on the line, since Game 4 of the 2008 Eastern Conference semifinals vs. Pittsburgh. Detroit (1949-55) and the Montreal Canadiens (1934-40) previously shared the top spot with seven in a row. New York will need to extend that NHL record to win this series, but first it has to survive tonights elimination game on the road. Only four teams in NHL history have come back from down 3-0 to win a best-of- seven set, and only the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs pulled it off in the Stanley Cup Finals when they beat Detroit. The Kings, of course, became the fourth NHL team to come back from down 3-0 when they rallied to beat San Jose in the first round of this postseason. If the Rangers can stave off elimination again, the clubs will meet Monday in New York for Game 6. P.J. The result is another serious blow to Vancouvers fading playoff hopes as the club remains five points back of the Phoenix Coyotes for the final wild-card berth in the Western Conference. Luca Sbisa, Matt Beleskey and Mathieu Perreault also scored for Anaheim (48-18-, while Andrew Cogliano and Daniel Winnik added two assists as the Ducks moved into first place in the Pacific Division. Brad Richardson replied for Vancouver (34-31-11), which got 16 saves from Eddie Lack. The Minnesota Wild left the door open for the Canucks to move within three points of the Wests final playoff spot after a 3-1 road victory in Phoenix, but Vancouver was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. With just six games left on their schedule, it looks as though the Canucks can start making their off-season plans. The Ducks led 2-1 after the first period and increased their lead at 11:02 of the second off a Canucks turnover when Winnik chipped a pass from the side of the net into the slot to Koivu, who buried his 10th of the season. Vancouver had a number of opportunities to make things interesting, including three power plays in the second alone that yielded a lot of possession, but not many clear-cut chances for the leagues 27th-ranked unit. After Koivu gave the Ducks a 3-1 lead, Andersen made consecutive saves off Vancouver forwards Chris Higgins and Jordan Schroeder from in tight before shooting out a pad to stone Zack Kassian moments later. Perry then put the game out of reach by banging home his 38th of the season at 6:45 of the third. Vancouver had a chance to pull one back with about 11 minutes to go, but both Daniel Sedin and Nicklas Jensen failed to find the range from in close against Andersen, who started in place of No. 1 goalie Jonas Hiller. Perreault added insult to injury with his 18th of the season on a Ducks power play at 14:03. Anaheim has thoroughly dominated the ffirst four meetings of its five-game season series with Vancouver, outscoring the Canucks 21-6 and surrendering just one point to its division rivals.dddddddddddd The teams meet for the final time April 7 at Rogers Arena. The Ducks opened the scoring at 7:36 of the first period after the Canucks had a couple of good chances at the other end against Anaheims rookie netminder. The puck was played back to the point to Sbisa, whose shot found its way through a maze of players and past Lack for his first of the season. Beleskey then made it 2-0 just 1:11 later with his sixth of the campaign. Ducks forward Rickard Rakell collected a puck in front of Lack and fed a behind-the-back pass to Beleskey, who beat the helpless Canucks netminder upstairs as Anaheim scored on two of its first five shots. Vancouver got one back at 11:12 off some nice work from Kassian in the offensive zone. The big forward maintained possession at the blue-line before feeding defenceman Ryan Stanton. His shot was kicked out by Andersen right to Richardson and he buried his 10th of the season. Anaheim had a great response to that goal, with Perry hitting the Ducks second and third posts of the period on a dominant shift that saw Vancouver hemmed in its zone for an extended period of time. Higgins had a nice deflection in the slot that Andersen was quick to handle with just over a minute to play before Lack made a glove save on Anaheims Patrick Maroon. Notes: Richardson had a great chance with the game scoreless in the first period, but Andersen made a phenomenal stick save on a shot that he deflected onto the post. ... Ducks forward Teemu Selanne sat out after playing Friday night in Edmonton against the Oilers. The 43-year-old has not played back-to-back games this season, but said after the morning skate that he will play against the Canucks in Vancouver on April 7. ... Kassian now has two goals and five assists during his four-game point streak. ... Perreault now has six goals in his last eight games. ... The 2014 portion of this current campaign saw Michigan State log a 9-5 record, with the fifth setback coming against this same Maryland squad in East Lansing on Dec, 30, 68-66, in double-overtime. Since then, the Spartans have won three in a row, with the latest being an 84-77 overtime decision at home versus Northwestern last Sunday. Maryland has enjoyed tremendous success in this, its first season as a member of the Big Ten. The Terrapins bring a 16-2 record into this contest, and theyve won two straight since suffering a 64-57 setback at Illinois on Jan. 7. At 4-1 in conference, the Terps are tied with Wisconsin for first place heading into the weekend. Marylands win a few weeks ago knotted the all-time series between the teams at 3-3. All five starters scored in double figures for Michigan State, but the team needed an extra session to settle its differences with visiting Northwestern last weekend. Travis Trice scored 18 points and dished out 10 assists to lead the Spartans, who shot an even 50 percent from the field, despite missing the mark on eight of their 11 3-point attempts. The Wildcats stayed in the game by converting 12-of-25 long-range launches. Denzel Valentine tallied 17 points, and Branden Dawson was close to notching a double-double of his own as he finished with 13 points and nine rebounds. MSU only turned the ball over seven times, while outscoring NU in the paint (34-26) and off giveaways (22-10). Trice (14.3 ppg, 6.1 apg), Valentine (14.2 ppg, 5.99 rpg, 4.dddddddddddd.2 apg) and Dawson (11.3 ppg, 9.5 rpg) are all averaging double figures for Michigan State this season, helping the team as a whole generate 74.7 ppg behind typical shooting efforts of .482 overall and .413 from beyond the arc. The Spartans are connecting on only 64.6 percent of their free throws, but they play pretty stingy defense in permitting just 61.1 ppg, with foes shooting 37.8 percent from the floor, including 28.5 percent from downtown. A +7.8 rebounding margin also helps MSU win more often than not. Maryland took down visiting Rutgers in its most recent outing, using a productive first half to stave off the upset-minded Scarlet Knights. The Terps shot 46.4 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes before cooling off to a chilly 24.2 percent after the break. The team nailed 11 3-pointers in the game, four of which were credited to Jared Nickens. Dez Wells scored 17 points to pace the squad, while Jake Layman recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. A 20-8 edge in points from the foul line coupled with a 46-33 advantage on the glass played a huge roles in the positive outcome for Maryland. Sporting similar scoring averages to their opponent today, the Terrapins are putting up 72.8 ppg while allowing only 61.6 ppg. They are also +4.9 in rebounding differential, and there are three double-digit scorers on the roster in Melo Trimble (15.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg), Layman (14.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and Wells (14.1 ppg, 5.1 rpg). UMs defensive stand stifles the opposition to just 37.3 percent field goal efficiency, which includes a 28.4 percent showing from 3-point land. The Terps are also making the most of their free-throw opportunities, converting them at a 74.7 percent clip. wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

LOS ANGELES -- Don Mattingly had enough confidence to keep Chris Withrow on the mound with one out in the eighth inning after he walked the bases loaded. It paid off against two of the toughest outs in the majors. Withrow struck out Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki to escape the jam and help preserve a 6-3 victory for Paul Maholm and the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night. "Obviously, you dont like to see the bases loaded with those guys coming up," Maholm said. "But youve got confidence in Chris because with the stuff he has, he can strike out anybody and get out of anything he gets himself into." Withrow, a first-round draft pick by the Dodgers in 2007, relieved Maholm with a 5-2 lead and walked the bases loaded. But Gonzalez, who has hit 15 homers against the Dodgers since the start of the 2010 season, fanned on a 1-2 pitch and Tulowitzki whiffed on a 2-2 delivery. "Thats a perfect situation for me and Tulo to change the game, but it didnt happen tonight," Gonzalez said. Adrian Gonzalez homered for the third straight game and Matt Kemp also went deep in support of Maholm (1-2). The left-hander threw 84 pitches over seven innings, allowing two runs and six hits in his fourth start with the defending NL West champions. "Everything was working," Maholm said. "I was able to throw breaking balls for strikes. I fell behind some guys, but I was confident enough in my sinker to throw it behind in the count and get some groundballs. I felt way more in rhythm today than I have in any other outing." Maholm, a veteran left-hander who signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract as a free agent in February, had lost his previous seven decisions against the Rockies and was 1-8 with a 6.63 ERA in 10 career starts against them. "I cant tell you I was the most confident person going to the mound, knowing my history against them," Maholm said. "But I havent faced them in a few years, and I think Ive changed as a pitcher since then. Besides, I wasnt pitching in Colorado, so you just go out there, try to get ahead and get groundballs." Yasiel Puig added an insurance run in the ninth with a ground-rule double, and Kenley Jansen got three outs for his ninth save after Brian Wilson walked the first two batters in the ninth -- one of whom scored on a bases-loaded groundout by Charlie Culberson. Juan Nicasio (2-1) gave up five runs and eight hits in 4 1-3 innings for Colorado. The Dodgers grabbed a 3-1 lead with three runs in the third, capped by Kemps towering drive to right field that barely cleared Brandon Barnes outstretched glove as he made a leaping try. Kemp initially thought he was robbed of a homer -- as did the crowd of 45,241 -- until Barnes opened his empty glove. A relieved Kemp then continued his jog around the bases with a huge grin after his second homer in 52 at-bats since the pair he hit against San Franciscos Matt Cain on April 6 at Dodger Stadium. "I thought he caught the ball. Then I saw him slam his glove on the ground and that showed me that he didnt, so I was happy about that," Kemp said. Puig added a two-out RBI single in the fourth -- the first time this season that hes driven in runs in back-to-back games after his home run and RBI single Friday night. Gonzalez led off the fifth with his 1,500th career hit, an opposite-field homer to left that gave the Dodgers a 5-2 lead. The Rockies opened the scoring in the third on Barnes two-out RBI single. Colorado got another run in the fifth on Justin Morneaus RBI single, following a double to centre by Wilin Rosario that Kemp lost in the twilight. But second baseman Gordon kept the damage to a minimum when he robbed DJ LeMahieu of a single up the middle with a diving play and started an inning-ending double play with a backhanded flip to shortstop Justin Turner. NOTES: Ramirez left the game because of a bruised right thumb. X-rays were negative. ... Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw will throw another bullpen session Monday, following the 56-pitch minor league rehab start he had on Friday night with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. Mattingly would prefer one more rehab start for the two-time Cy Young Award winner, who hasnt pitched since the season opener on March 22 in Australia because of a muscle strain in his upper back. "I know our medical staff does. Im not sure if Kersh buys into that," Mattingly said. "Theres been a small debate going on, but I dont want to be a part of the debate. Well just see how his pen goes, and go from there. He felt good today. He said he felt like he didnt even pitch." ... Colorado RHP Chris Martin made his big league debut with a scoreless seventh inning, a day after the team purchased his contract from Triple-A Colorado Springs. ... TORONTO – Change was on the mind, but Brendan Shanahan wasnt looking explicitly for a new assistant general manager. The Maple Leafs president was combing the hockey world, trying to pick out the innovative thinkers, the rising stars, the great minds. One name kept coming up: Kyle Dubas, formerly the 28-year-old general manager of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and now assistant general manager to Dave Nonis in Toronto. Such was the latest shift in direction of the newly minted Shanahan era, one that has seen a coaching staff plundered, a roster reconstructed, a July 1st pass quietly (and prudently) by, and now a management team altered – Dave Poulin and Claude Loiselle fired Tuesday. “I like to surround myself with people that challenge ideas, that think differently,” Shanahan said. “The more I got to know Kyle the more I realized that this was somebody that obviously was an extreme talent.” Through extensive conversations with Dubas over the past few weeks, Shanahan, who accumulated nearly 700 goals and three Stanley Cups as a player, kept coming away with fresh thoughts and perspectives about the game. In Dubas, he appears to have found someone willing to think differently, a rising front office prodigy known for his openness to new ideas, including analytics. “I just found him intriguing,” said Shanahan, standing alongside Dubas at an introductory press conference from the Air Canada Centre. “I was learning things I didnt know and just wanted to learn more.” “Ive got the impression in talking to Brendan and talking to Dave that theyre certainly open to any and all ideas. That was one of the things that was most enticing about the situation here for me,” said Dubas, particularly enthused to work alongside Nonis, himself once a young assistant general manager in Vancouver. In just three short years in Sault Ste. Marie, Dubas – hired at age 25, mind you – helped steer the Greyhounds from the playoff wilderness to a West division title. He was once a teenage scout for his hometown junior team and later the youngest player agent to be certified by the NHLPA. Rising fast through the hockey ranks, he is known to be thoughtful, respectful and innovative in his thinking, a breath of fresh air to a game thats often remained engrained in old habits. Though not an all-out stats guru as portrayed in some corners, hes shown a willingness to consider the merits of analytics, employing them where suitable to help his team in the Sault. The Maple Leafs, previously led by noted analytics opponent Brian Burke, have been slow to adjust to the “Money-Puck revolution,” which has crept louder and louder into the game in recent years. And if not a voice for that community, Dubas should, at the very least, open up Nonis, Randy Carlyle and the entire group in Toronto to some different ideas. “Its really about learning as much as I can and getting as much information as I can,” Dubas said. “I havent run the team in Sault St. Marie based solely on statistics, its been a good size part of what weve integrated in, but the rest of it is just hockey. Its evaluating players, scouting reports, dealing with the personalities on the team, trying to hire the best scouts and people. And certainly the analytics, Ive found it to be a major help to me personally in the way that I view the game and just create a better level of certainty to decisions.” “Information is power,” Shanahan added. “Its about eliminating some of the noise and seeing what information works best for you, your team, and the direction you and your team want to go with. “Hes obviously got a great appreciation and understanding of analytics, but hes also married that to the complexities and instincts you have to have when youre putting a product on the ice. Hes not just talked about it, but hes done it.” Todd Reynolds, formerly a colleague in the agent business, says Dubas is not some analytics guru, but rather a well-rounded hockey mind on the rise. “I dont think its all about analytics like people have wanted to make it out to be today,” he told TSN.ca. “Hes not a computer nerd. Hes not sitting there crunching numbers and bringing sheets of paper into the GMs office with recommendations. Hes much more complete than that.” Reynolds firm, Uptown Sports Management, hired Dubas fresh out of the Brock University sports management program. They had known him to be “mature beyond his years” from past dealings with the Greyhounds organization. Dubas, they believed, was sensible, trustworthy and related well to people senior to him. “It really wasnt as much of a stretch or a leap of faith on our part as people thought it was at the time,” Reynolds said. “He held his own. [His age] was used against him at times – as you can imagine our business is competitive, the industry is – and people would say ‘Really, youre thinking about going with him? The kids 20-year-old. So it was used against him successfully at times, at other times he overcame it. “We encouraged him ‘just continue doing what youre doing and people wont talk about your age theyll talk about your track record.” And so they werent surprised at the Burlington headquarters of Uptown Sports to learn a few years down the road that Dubas had earned the GM job in hockey-mad Sault Ste. Marie – as one of the youngest GMs in OHL history – nor taken aback on this day when he rose to the NHL. “We all knew this was coming,” Reynolds said. Shanahan claims he never set out to hire an assistant general manager, but planned on assessing the various levels of the organization over the offseason and instilling change from there. He expected more hires to the management team, likely needing a replacement for Loiselle as it pertained to contract negotiations, the CBA, and the cap, and someone to assume Poulins duties, which included management of the Marlies. Tuesdays proceedings were ultimately another step in the remaking of the Leafs in Shanahans vision. That vision started to take shape with the early May firings of the coaching staff and the retaining of Carlyle. It continued with the selection of William Nylander at the draft, varied roster pursuits in and around July 1st – quiet for Toronto standards – and a pair of new hires (and voices) to surround Carlyle, including the youthful Steve Spott. In Dubas meanwhile, Shahanan will look for a different voice, a fresher perspective that may have been lacking. “Im just an assistant GM,” said Dubas. “Ill do what Im asked and go from there.” Cheap NFL Jerseys . Andjuar ripped through Tommy Robredo of Spain 6-1, 6-1.DALLAS -- Floridas Aleksander Barkov enjoyed his debut a little more than all the new faces for the Dallas Stars. The 18-year-old player from Finland scored the tying goal, veteran Marcel Goc followed with the first of his two in the third period, and the Panthers spoiled Lindy Ruffs first game as Dallas coach with a 4-2 victory over the Stars on Thursday night. "It had a lot of aspects to it," said Panthers coach Kevin Dineen, whose team had the worst record in the lockout-shortened season after a division-winning campaign. "Our young players coming through and making a difference, a really nice goal. Our veteran guys stepping up when they needed to." The Panthers erased a 2-1 deficit with goals about 4 1/2 minutes apart. Barkov, the No. 2 pick in this years draft, scored as bodies piled up around Kari Lehtonen in front of the Dallas net. The teenager found the loose puck, spun and shot it inside the left post to make it 2-2. "He had a big game," Panthers forward Kris Versteeg said. "He ended up playing well. He played great for us." Goc put Florida in front when he took a centring pass from Tomas Fleischmann and beat Lehtonen with 4:55 remaining. He scored again into an empty net in the final 2 minutes. "We didnt win enough battles," said Ruff, who spent 15 seasons with Buffalo before getting fired by the Sabres in the middle of last season. "When it was 2-2 and they walked in through the neutral zone to score, that wasnt a good play for our team." Three minutes before Barkovs goal, Brenden Dillon gave Dallas a 2-1 lead with a short-handed goal. He trailed a play that was started near centre ice by Vernon Fiddler and put the puck in an open net after Tim Thomas stopped Antoine Roussel. The Stars couldnt hold the lead in the regular-season debut of "Victory Green" jerseys, carrying a shade closer to what the franchise had in Minnesota before moving south two decades ago. They also had a bevy of new faces, but all the scoring for Dallas was by holdovers. Center Tyler Seguin had the biggestt contribution among the newcomers with two shots in 16-plus minutes.dddddddddddd "They played the same way all night," Dillon said. "They worked up and down the ice, and just came back on us. We cant take anything for granted. No lead is safe." Barkov wasnt the only teenager taken in the top 10 this year to make his debut on Dallas ice. But Valeri Nichushkin, an 18-year-old Russian taken at No. 10 by the Stars, had a much quieter night. Nichushkin had one shot in more than 17 minutes of ice time. Barkov ended up with four shots in 13:19. The Stars pulled even at 1 in the second period when Alex Chiasson went behind the net and stuffed the puck past Thomas, Tom Gilbert and Brian Campbell as they converged. The Panthers trio knocked the net loose just as Chiassons shot crossed the goal line. Dallas Ryan Garbutt and Floridas Dmitry Kulikov were ejected in the first period when they started fighting a few moments after Panthers defenceman Mike Weaver and Roussel fought. The sequence started when Weaver shoved Roussel after the Stars forward kept poking at the puck in Thomas pads. Roussel received a 10-minute misconduct, but wasnt ejected, and was given an extra 2-minute penalty for instigating. Scott Gomez, a 14-year veteran in his first season with the Panthers, opened the scoring with a backhand shot from the crease after a pass from behind the net by Scottie Upshall. "This is a new day for him," Thomas said of Gomez. "I know hes going to score a lot this year. The monkey is off his back." NOTES: The second intermission came with 25 seconds left in the second period. A problem with the netting above the boards led to a delay, and officials decided to send players to the dressing rooms instead of waiting out the repair. After playing the final seconds of the second, the teams switched ends and started the third. ... Ruff was on the Panthers original coaching staff in 1993. They have met on 216 occasions in the regular season, plus many more times in the playoffs. The Rogers Centre and the site of the new Tim Hortons Field in which the two gridiron competitors call home are a mere 70 kilometres apart. Its one of the best rivalries in Canadian sport. Its the Toronto Argonauts and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The long-time foes meet again Friday at the Rogers Centre (TSN and TSN Mobile TV at 7pm et/4pm pt) in a game that is a must-win for the visitors if they want to keep their hopes alive for home-field advantage against the Argos, should they meet in the playoffs. Argo head coach Scott Milanovich is a relative newcomer to the hostility between the two clubs. He joined the double-blue last year and guided them to a Grey Cup championship; a fact that drives die-hard Ticat fans insane. Milanovich has an extensive playing career in the NCAA, NFL , XFL and CFL before beginning his coaching career in NFL Europe, then moving back to this country. Despite all of these stops, he realizes this series is something special. "This would be the biggest rivalry Ive been a part of" the coach told TSN.ca. "Ive only been here for a year and a half, but this rivalry goes back. I think weve developed a little bit of a rivalry with Montreal, but this one is fun." Milanovich was only able to experience one Labour Day Classic at Ivor Wynne Stadium, a game in which the Argos scored 22 fourth-quarter points and won 33-30 on a last-minute field goal by Swayze Waters. The thoughts of that game obviously brought a smile to the coachs face. "The Labour Day game was an interesting atmosphere," said Milanovich. "One that I havent really experienced in the CFL before." Milanovich was a star quarterback at the University of Maryland before turning pro. His memories of his biggest rival there arent as pleasant as those of the Battle of Ontario. "Id probably have to say (Marylands biggest rival was) West Virginia" said Milanovich before starting to laugh when he added, "we werent very good, so good rivals were hard to come by." Chad Owens has been a part of the Argo-Ticat tradition for the last four seasons. He loves these games and is pumped about potentially getting back into the lineup for Fridays game after missing the last month due to injury. "Its big, were neighbours" chuckled last years CFL Most Outstanding Player. "Its a big game for both sides. Its a game that could potentially (with help from Edmonton) clinch first place in the East, so theres a lot riding on it." Owens favourite memory from the games hes been a part of was a post-season game. "My first year here was pretty special, when we went into Hamilton and won in the semis, to go on to the Eastern Final. That was a big win for us; the crowd was amazing and it was a great game." The Argos were major underdogs going into The Hammer, but would pull of a 16-13 upset win to move on to the Eastern Final in Montreal. Centre Jeff Keeping is in his eighth season with the Boatmen and recalled several memorable moments in the battles with Hamilton. He eventually settled on his favourite, somewhat fitting considering the amount of animosity that has been produced over the years. "I remember one game in 05 and our kick returner Bashir Levingston ended up getting into it with somebody in the stands," said the native of Uxbridge, Ontario. "They were throwing stuff down at him and then he had a moment of poor decision making and ended up throwing his helmet at them and things got heated from there." Things got heated after the helmet was thrown into the stands. That describes the intensity of the rivalry in one sentence. That said; Keeping loves the tradition of the Labour Day Classic. "Ive got to give them their due credit. Thats a hostile environment and the rivalry there - its been heated on the field, off the field, fans in the stands clashing - thats got to be the one for me." This weeks game isnt at Ivor Wynne Stadium. Sadly, there wont be any more games at the old Balsam St. facility. But when the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats run onto the field to play each other for regular season game number 217, the odds are pretty good that something interesting is going to happen. "Good goal" http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?id=2013020984-X-h (the Burns goal) The goalie was being held on the ice by an attacking player - isnt that textbook goaltender interference? Brian Hi Kerry, I have a question about the Sharks 2nd goal tonite. The ref blew his whistle and waived off the goal, seemingly indicating there was a reason why it wasnt a goal. If he only believed the puck had not entered the net, wouldnt the play go on as the puck was still live? Seems to me that was a give-back for the blown call minutes earlier where San Jose was robbed of a goal by the refs quick whistle. Love to hear your perspective. ThanksDavid Brian and David: Thank you very much for submitting your questions as to why contact with the goalkeeper in Philadelphia resulted in a crucial disallowed goal, yet in San Jose the Sharks second goal was allowed to stand. This is not an example of inconsistency, as some might suggest, but the referees correct decision on both plays is supported in the language and interpretation found in Rule 69. With the Flyers net empty for an extra attacker, the puck was kicked out of a high scrum of players and thrown across ice by Kimmo Timonen to Jacub Voracek. Scott Hartnell broke for the net with Anton Volchenchov in close pursuit from behind. There was some minor contact exerted by Volchenkov on Hartnell as the Flyer extended to redirect Voraceks pass at Martin Brodeur from outside the crease. Brodeur made the initial save but offered up a rebound as Volchenkov lost his balance and fell to the ice with a slide toward the goal. There was no push, shove or check delivered by Volchenkov on Hartnell and their contact was incidental in nature. Scott Hartnell remained on his skates in a path that took him into the goal crease. Hartnell repositioned his body and began to throw snow in a stopping motion. It appears at this point that Scotts skate contacted the puck and directed it back into Brodeurs stacked pads. Scott Hartnells forward momentum then took him deep into the goal crease. Hartnell initiated a hip bump at the point of contact with Martin Brodeur that knocked both the goalie and the puck into the net. Referee Tom Kowal, with very good position to see the contact, utilized Rule 69.6 to immediately wave off the potential goal. (69.6: In the event that a goalkeeper has been pushed into the net together with the puck after making a stop, the goal will be disallowed.) Kowal correctly ruled that the contact by Hartnell was "incidental" as opposed to deliberate thereby resulting in no goal and no penalty on the play. This is not a reviewable play. The deciision made by the Toronto Situation Room to initiate a review and the subsequent announcement the referee was forced to make did not bring clarity or support the decision made on the ice by referee Kowal.dddddddddddd The delay in getting the game resumed quickly, in addition to the announcement, "Following video review its confirmed its not a good hockey goal. Its no goal" further infuriated Flyers fans in the building for no useful purpose since video review could not overturn the referees decision. Bottom line is that in the judgment of the referee, Martin Brodeur and the puck were knocked into the net through incidental contact exerted by Scott Hartnell. The call made on the ice by the referee was both correct and courageous - end of story! In San Jose, Joe Thornton was positioned to the side and above the goal crease when Tim Gleason of the Leafs checked Thornton from behind with solid contact. The hit caused Thornton to lurch forward into Dion Phaneuf positioned at the top, middle of the crease. Phaneuf pushed back on Thornton, causing Jumbo Joe to enter the blue paint. Thornton was conscious of avoiding contact with Leafs goalkeeper James Reimer, as demonstrated by his effort to straddle Reimer with a wide stance. Thorntons forward momentum from the Phaneuf push, combined with Joes wide stance, caused his upper body to veer forward with a loss of balance. In an effort to regain his balance, Joe had no alternative but to place his hands on the back of James Reimer. Thornton quickly pushed himself up and off Reimer and then immediately exited the goal crease prior to the shot entering the net. The referees decision is supported by Rule 69.1; (If an attacking player has been pushed, shoved or fouled by a defending player so as to cause him to come into contact with the goalkeeper, such contact will not be deemed contact initiated by the attacking player for purposes of this rule, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact.) Joe Thornton made more than a reasonable attempt to avoid James Reimer after being body checked by two Leaf players at the edge of the goal crease. The speed with which Thornton exited the crease is also of significance. Had he delayed his departure and remained in contact with the goalkeeper a different decision by the referee would most likely have been rendered. The referee waved the goal off because he thought the puck hit the crossbar on the shot by Brent Burns. Video review subsequently confirmed that the puck did enter the net on the shot. The refs initial decision on this play had nothing to do with the previously disallowed goal when he ruled the puck was covered and play dead prior to Scott Hannan jamming the puck from under James Reimer. In Philadelphia and San Jose, two distinctly different plays involved contact with the goalkeeper and resulted in the correct decision being rendered by both refs based on two separate rule applications contained in Rule 69. wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Bernhard Langer won the Champions Tours Insperity Invitational for the third time, closing with a 1-under 71 on Sunday for a one-stroke victory over Fred Couples. Langer finished at 11-under 205 at The Woodlands to become the 10th 20-time winner on the 50-and-over tour. The 56-year-old German player also won the 2007 event at Augusta Pines and successfully defended his title in 2008 at The Woodlands. He opened this season with a victory in Hawaii. "Im hoping to add to that number," Langer said. "I hope Im not done yet. Im very blessed to have won 20 times in 6 1/2 years. Its been a great run and a wonderful achievement. I just feel like Im playing some of my best golf in my career." Couples, the former University of Houston player who won the 2010 event, finished with a 67. He won in March in Newport Beach, California. "On a golf course as hard as this, you cant really play relaxed golf," Couples said. "You have to pay attention to what youre doing. I didnt hit enough good shots to shoot a lot lower to catch Bernhard, although I got close to him." Colin Montgomerie was third at 9 under after a 70. His best finish on the tour is second in March in Newport Beach. The Scot had no complaints about his finish. "If youre second, third to Couples and Langer, youre doing OK," Montgomerie said. Fallen Comrade Raptors fans received

Posted in IYH Forums by fangxu0220 at 08:59, Oct 30 2015

1) Rumors about Jeff Samardzija being available and the Jays perhaps considering making a play if they are in contention near the end of July. The reported price for the Jays was Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez. Would you make that deal? The Blue Jays are in first place in the AL East. Read that again! The Blue Jays are in first place in the AL East!! I have visions of thousands of people outside of Rogers Centre just like there were for the Raptors outside of the Air Canada Centre. How much fun would that be? The AL East will be won by a general manager; not by players or managers this year. Who will make the moves that will give his team the advantage to separate from the pack? When is the last time we saw the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays as vulnerable as they are this season? This is the best chance in the last two decades that the Jays have to win the division. When I was in the front office of the New York Mets, John Gibbons was a manager and coach in the farm system there. When I got the Mets GM job it was Gibbons who made a statement that impacted me tremendously. He said, "Go for it. You dont know how long these jobs last or how many opportunities you will get to win, So Go For It!" That stuck with me and when I had chances to be a playoff team I did what I needed to do to get there and win. That included trading away some very good prospects to bring in winning players. I never regretted trading away prospects in years I made the playoffs. I searched "Toronto Blue Jays" online and went to the Jays Wikipedia page. Interestingly, the chronology of the Jays history is broken down by the era of the general manager. There is the Pat Gillick era, Gord Ash era, JP Riccardi era and now we are in the Alex Anthopolous era. It is time for Alex to write his legacy for his era. Go For It Alex! Prospects can get general managers fired. We all have waited for top prospects to impact our major league team and have seen many of them fizzle away. This is the year to go for it. Trade away what it takes to get Jeff Samardzija. He is darn good. If it takes both Marcus Stroman and Aaron Sanchez then so be it. Do it now. Dont wait. Get Samardzija for as many starts as you can. He is still young and in the prime of his career and you control his contract next year as well. Dont wait until the trade deadline. Be the team that people are trying to catch at the deadline. This is the year that will define the Alex Anthopoulos Era. I hope he goes for it! 2) Did you like the decision to send Stroman back down to continue starting in AAA, or should the Jays have kept him to help the struggling pen? It was definitely the right decision to send Stroman down to the minors to assume his spot in the starting rotation. It is the best thing for Stroman and the best thing for the Jays. Stroman pitched like a youngster in his first stint in the majors. He got knocked around a bit coming out of the bullpen. He isnt an obvious solution out there. He has more value going back to AAA as a starter in case he is needed in Torontos rotation. The main reason he needs to go back to AAA and start though is for marketing purposes. He is a chip for Samardzija or any other starting pitching deal that the Jays will consider. Toronto needs Stroman to go down and pitch successfully at AAA so another teams scouts and general manager can dream about him in their rotation. It is not a matter of IF Stroman will stick in the big leagues, it is just a matter of WHEN and with WHOM. 3) The Jays swept the Red Sox, who fell to 20-26, 4th in the AL East. Whats wrong in Boston with the champs? This is an interesting question because in some way it means that we are surprised that the Jays could sweep the Red Sox. The Sox clearly have issues but in detailing those I dont want to take away from the Jays who outhit, outpitched and out defended the Sox. The Jays won by playing Blue Jays baseball the way the team was built to play. The Red Sox are struggling and those struggles are indicative of some serious issues. They are not nearly the team they were a year ago. In 2013, the Red Sox led the AL in runs scored by a wide margin (+57 runs on second place Detroit). They also were in the upper half in pitching with their starting rotation ranked fourth in the league. This season not much is going right for the Sox. They are ranked a respectable sixth in the league in pitching but only because their bullpen is significantly outpitching their rotation. The starters have a combined 4.50 ERA which is ranked 12th among the fifteen AL teams. The Red Sox find themselves trailing in games quite often since their starters give up early runs. That ultimately impacts the quality of the at bats of the hitters as they feel more pressure to produce. The offence is the biggest issue for the Sox. They average 5.26 runs per game in 2014 and just 4.04 per game this year. That tells you all you need to know. The Sox won 97 games in 2013 because they could score in any number of ways. They had great team power (fifth in HR) and great team speed (third in stolen bases). This season they are 10th in HR and 14th in stolen bases. This is a team wide struggle and is most prevalent against right-handed pitching. They are just 10-20 against right-handed starting pitching whereas they were 65-43 last season. Certainly the loss of Jacoby Ellsbury to the Yankees couldnt have been this substantial or is it? Consider that Ellsburys stat line last season vs. right-handers was .328/.374/.489. Plus he stole 39 bases in those games. The Red Sox are barely on pace to steal that many bases as a team this season. Ellsburys replacements in CF, Grady Sizemore (.233/.307/.344) and Jackie Bradley Jr. (.209/.313/.279) are not doing much to make Red Sox fans forget about Ellsbury. It is not solely the loss of Ellsbury that is hurting the Red Sox against righties: Davis Ortiz is significantly less as well but that may be tracked back to Ellsbury too. Without Ellsbury on base in front of Ortiz he is getting much different pitches to hit. The Red Sox need much better starting pitching if they are going to win the division. They are also going to have to find a catalyst offensively (and it wont be the recently signed Stephen Drew) and they are going to need David Ortiz to have his best season ever. I thought Ellsbury was significantly overpaid by the Yankees but maybe he was worth it….to the Red Sox!!! 4) When we were kids growing up, we all played baseball and at times imagined ourselves as major league players. I have four boys and love to ask them what they want to be when they grow up. "I want to be a baseball player," says one. Another says, "I want to be a football player." During basketball season I get, "I want to play in front of Raptors fans." Another son says, "I want to be a baseball analyst." He is my favorite. Most sports fans at one point or another dreamed of playing professionally. When we grow up we all want to be general managers. We call in to talk radio shows with opinions about players and trades and free agents. It seems like such a great job doesnt it? The first two months of this baseball season has made me remember the pain of being a general manager. John Steinbeck wrote in his 1937 novel Of Mice and Men, "The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." Well isnt that the truth. You all want to be a general manager but there are days that I would have rather been raking the field than making decisions about the team. So often in baseball you can have the right design and configuration of your roster but stuff happens: injuries, underperformance, marital problems, etc. There are so many unpredictable variables that can impact a teams results. The Dodgers started the season with the best one-two punch in baseball with Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke, but Kershaw hurt his back and has missed time. The As and Rays started the season with great young starting pitching depth but both have two starters out from elbow surgery. The Pirates and Indians both made the playoffs last year with very young teams. They came in to 2014 expecting their young players to take another step forward and to be competitive again for a playoff spot. Both clubs are struggling. Werent those fair expectations? Heck the Red Sox won the World Series last year. Even though they lost a player here and there they should still be among the best in baseball…right? The Nationals were a very popular pick to represent the NL in the World Series this year. They have been just mediocre, but who would have predicted that Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman would miss weeks of the season and that Doug Fister and Gio Gonzalez would spend time on the DL. It is the most frustrating part of being a general manager. Your thinking and decision-making can be spot on yet the results can completely collapse. So much happens that cant be predicted. Stuff that is completely out of your control. I am breaking out in hives just thinking about it. Having been in the room when my kids were born I have always wondered why women go back for more after having one. It hurts so much why would anyone want to do it again. Women say they have "selective memory." They have the ability to move away from the pain and only remember the joy of childbirth. I guess being a GM is kind of like that too. The anguish of seeing your plans blow up before your very eyes can be painful. Yet GMs go back for more year after year. As for me…no more kids please! Cheap Jerseys . While some players merely solidified their standing on big boards and mock drafts, several others saw their Combine results either boost or drop their placing in the mind of scouts and general managers across the league.TORONTO - Dwane Casey was more composed than you might expect after his team surrendered 101 points in defeat on home court Wednesday night. The reason being; this loss - 101-89 at the hands of Minnesota - came in the second game of the exhibition season, a time of trial and error for the Raptors. "[We are in] no way a finished product," Casey said after the loss. "I dont think you can talk to a coach in the NBA now that is where they want to be. Were definitely not where we want to be defensively." "Weve got to fight through things, weve got to fight through adversity and I like it," he continued, stressing that a night like this, at this stage should be used as a learning experience. "I like that it showed us tonight what we have to work on, especially defensively." Casey and his staff will go back to the drawing board on Thursday, as they do after each preseason game - win or lose. For them, October is a month-long chess match, a card game thats all about gathering information, utilizing it in the gym and choosing how much of it they wish to reveal before the games count. Its a month of experimentation and tactical development. "In preseason you stick with your coverage," Casey said, pointing out that through two games the team has yet to switch into the zone defence theyve been working on. "You dont try to do anything tricky, you dont try to game plan. Were still trying to learn our defensive fundamentals." Zone coverage is expected to be a big part of what the Raptors do defensively this season -- or better yet, what they can do when the situation deems it necessary. Whether theyre using a small lineup or simply masking some of their weaker second-unit defenders, it is a trick theyd like to have up their sleeve. But for now it remains in the sleeve. "You dont want to show them too much in the preseason," said Rudy Gay, who scored 11 points in the losing effort to Minnesota. Defensive Slippage For Casey the message is, has been and will remain focused on defence. After holding the Celtics to 89 points on 40 per cent shooting in Mondays preseason victory, the teams recommitment on the defensive end took a step in the wrong direction, most notably in the third quarter where they were outscored them 28-16. "We had a lot of mental breakdowns on the defensive end that were going to come in here tomorrow and watch and try to correct," admitted DeMar DeRozan, who was a standout on the offensive end with a team-high 17 points. The Wolves shot 47 per cent from the field and 37 per cent from three-point range, where they burned Toronto in the second half. The Raptors frontcourt had their hands full all night, as expected, bodying up against a slimmer but always physical Kevin Love (20 points, nine rebounds) and Nikola Pekovic (12 points, eight rebounds). "We just have to start with the mindset that we have to do everything right," Gay put bluntly. "Were honestly not good enough to lack in any category. So we have to try to [be] as perfect as possible." A Determined DeRozan With Corey Brewer preoccupied on Gay, DeRozan took advantage of the smaller guards Minnesota threw at him. After the newly signed Kevin Martin left the game (he played six minutes and was pulled as a precaution with a sore Achilles) DeRozan began attacking the paint, routinely posting up or driving right by Alexey Shved and company. DeRozan scored all but twwo of his 17 points in the paint or from the line, finishing six-of-seven from the floor and five-for-six from the stripe.dddddddddddd He and Gay combined to shoot 14 free throws, making 12, each playing around 20 minutes. "It puts pressure on the defence," Gay said of the duos ability to draw fouls in the lane "The more we can do that the better were going to be." "Now we just [have] to start hitting shots," he joked. "Itll come, its just preseason." Another Efficient Night for the Starters Although they havent been effective from beyond the arc, an area of emphasis for that unit, the Raptors starters havent had much trouble hitting their shots. For the second straight game the starting unit shot above 50 per cent from the field and continued to build on the chemistry they developed towards the end of last season. "I thought they played solid minutes, the minutes they were in there," Casey said of the starters who, with the exception of Jonas Valanciunas, sat out the fourth quarter. Rotation Roulette Again, Casey experimented with different combinations, specifically in the second half. More than wins and losses, the Raptors coach has emphasized the importance of experimenting with his rotation and finding the groupings that work best going into the season. Casey used a couple variations of his small lineup late in the first half with Gay slotted at the four and matching up with Love. "I gained the weight he lost," Gay joked after facing a slimmed-down Love. After sitting out on Monday Steve Novak was also used as a stretch four, playing 20 minutes in place of Austin Daye, who was used in that role against Boston. Novak scored nine points off the bench, knocking down his first three triples in his Raptors debut. "We know what Steve is," Casey said. "We know who he is [and] what he can do. We wanted to give him a turn tonight." Novak, a 45 per cent three-point shooter over the last two seasons in New York, is as automatic as they come in the corner but the challenge for Casey will be masking him on defence and surrounding him with players he will complement. "From a distance you may not see exactly whats going on, but some nights some guys are playing, other [nights] guys arent," Novak said of the preseason. "I think a lot of it is for the coaches to see what theyre comfortable with, where they want to play guys [and] just see how guys react." Fallen Comrade Raptors fans received disheartening news prior to Wednesdays preseason home opener when it was reported that the teams beloved mascot, the Raptor, tore his Achilles tendon during a community visit in Halifax this weekend and will be sidelined for the season. Widely considered the best mascot in the NBA, the Raptor - and the man wearing the suit - has been with the organization, entertaining fans since the inaugural season in 1995-96. "I was disappointed," Casey said of his reaction when he heard the news. "My daughter cried. She was upset." "Hell bounce back. Hes in good hands with the physicians. The Raptor will be back, he will be back. We need his spirit and hes in our thoughts and prayers." Up Next Andrea Bargnani will make his highly-anticipated return to the Air Canada Centre with his new team, the Knicks, who make the first of two preseason visits to Toronto on Friday. HOUSTON -- The Seattle Mariners couldnt do anything against Houstons Collin McHugh in his first start against them this season. Sundays game was a lot different. Robinson Cano and Willie Bloomquist each drove in two runs, and the Mariners pulled away in a four-run third inning to beat the Astros 8-7. Bloomquist broke a 1-all tie with a two-run double against McHugh (2-1) and Cano followed with his first triple since June 3, 2012. McHugh, who entered with a 0.59 ERA and 19 strikeouts in two starts, gave up six runs -- five earned -- and eight hits in four innings. He allowed three hits and struck out 12 in 6 2-3 scoreless innings against Seattle on April 22. "We had no knowledge of him the first time, and the young man threw the ball pretty good," Seattle manager Lloyd McClendon said. "This time I thought we had better at-bats, gave him stressful at-bats. His pitch count was up, and we were able to take advantage of it." Houston manager Bo Porter said McHugh struggled with his offspeed pitches Sunday. "What you saw today was a Seattle Mariners team making an adjustment from the last time they faced him," Porter said. "He didnt have the sharpness to his breaking stuff like he did that day in Seattle." Brandon Maurer (1-0) allowed four runs and six hits in five innings for his first win since Sept. 28 against Oakland. McClendon was proud of how Maurer got out of the fifth. "It was a big inning in a lot of ways for him from a mental standpoint," McClendon said. "I think he learned a lot. And I think maybe he grew up a little bit." Danny Farquhar allowed one run in two innings for his first save since that Sept. 28 game. Farquhar allowed a two-out single to Jason Castro that pulled Houston within one run in the ninth, then struck out Matt Dominguez to end the game. Alex Presley and Jonathan Villar homered, and Chris Carter and Marc Krauss had two RBIs apiece for the Astros, who lost for the seventh time in 10 games and dropped to a big league-worst 10-21. It was the second straight game with a homer for Villar, who leads the team with five and his 14 extra-base hits are most among American League shortstops. Cano hit an RBI groundout in the first after Michael Saunders singled leading off and took third on McHughs errant pickoff throw, which went for an error. Saunders is hitting .444 with four RBIs in four games in the leadoff spot. Presleys leadoff homer tied the score in the second. After Canos triple, Corey Hart singled for a 5-1 lead in the third. "Just not executing pitches very well is what it comes down to," McHugh said. "I just missed with a couple of pitches here and there. They put some good swings on it, and that really took the wind out of the sails in that third inning." John Buck, who had three hits, doubled and scored on Saunders single in the fourth. Buck had two doubles for his 10th career game with more than one double and first since July 20, 2010. Carter, who entered with a .169 average, hit a two-run double in the fourth -- three of his four homers and seven of his 12 RBIs have come off Mariners pitching. Seattle boosted its lead to 7-3 in the fifth when Jerome Williams walked Dustin Ackley with the bases loaded. Villar homered in the bottom half. NOTES: The Mariners optioned OF Abraham Almonte to Triple-A Tacoma after the game. A corresponding roster move is expected on Monday. ... Houston designated LHP Raul Valdes for assignment and recalled LHP Darin Downs from Triple-A Oklahoma City. ... Astros starter Scott Feldman, who has been on the DL since mid-April with right biceps tendinitis, felt good after throwing 60 pitches in a simulated game on Sunday. ... McClendon said there wont be any pitch limitations on RHP Hisashi Iwakuma in his next start after he threw 81 pitches Saturday in his first outing after coming off the DL. "Theres no reason why he cant go 100 or 105 pitches next time out," McClendon said. Raptors Jersey . Michael Raffl scored in the first period for Austria, which finished third in its group at 1-2. Encouraged by Dustin McGowans start on Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium, manager John Gibbons will hand him the ball again on Sunday in Pittsburgh and go with left-hander J.A. Happ on Monday in Philadelphia. "Well see where that takes us," said Gibbons. McGowan pitched into the seventh inning on Tuesday for just the second time this season. His spot in the rotation is vulnerable, with Gibbons on repeated occasions saying how much he values McGowan out of the bullpen. Happ, entering Thursdays series finale with the Royals, hadnt pitched in more than a week, a 2 2/3 inning performance against the Baltimore Orioles on April 23. He entered spring training with a spot in the rotation but posted a 20.57 ERA in four Grapefruit League appearances and missed time with inflammation in his back. His performance forced the Blue Jays to seek alternatives. Stroman, who turned 23 on Thursday, is coming off a 10-strikeout, one-walk, no-hit performance over six innings for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday night. Along with Aaron Sanchez, he is considered a top pitching prospect and some in the organization believe he is major league-ready. GOSE RETURNS When the Blue Jays acquired Anthony Gose from the Astros on July 29, 2010, he was a hot prospect less than two weeks shy of his 20th birthday. Now, almost four years later, Gose is up for a second time this season and has been on the option train for a couple of seasons. Hes up when the Blue Jays need him and back in Buffalo when they dont. "Hes got to play and be productive," said Gibbons. "Its like anybody else. When it comes down to the big leagues its about production. Theres no secrets; you can hope guys are going to do something but eventually its all about production. Thats why its so hard to make it in the big leagues and stay for any length of time. Thats why guys come and go, bounce up and down. Big part of it is opportunity but when you get it youve got to take advantage of it." In 19 games with the Bisons, Gose is hitting .235/.350/.309. Hes walking at a higher clip than usual with 12 free passes in 81 plate appearances (14.8 per cent). "I think it was too cold for me to swing," Gose joked. "I wasnt trying to do anything different. I wasnt working on anything. I just walked a little bit more earlier on.dddddddddddd" He admits its difficult to get into a groove early in the International League season because of the weather. Games are often rained out; sometimes games are snowed out. "I think this year was much colder and a lot longer than last year, especially in other cities also," said Gose. "I dont know if its going to warm up. Its been freezing. I got here and its freezing too. Everywhere Im playing baseball its cold." ROSTER MOVES To accommodate the recall of Gose, the Blue Jays optioned infielder Jonathan Diaz to Triple-A Buffalo. Toronto also purchased the contract of infielder/outfielder Steve Tolleson. To make room for Tolleson on the 40-man roster, outfielder Moises Sierra was designated for assignment. The moves give the Blue Jays additional depth in the absence of Melky Cabrera, who was hit by a pitch on his left shin in Wednesday nights game and is listed as day-to-day. HIGH PRAISE FOR BAUTISTA Pointing out that Jose Bautista is good at baseball is a waste of everyones time. Nobodys splitting the atom with such an observation. Through the first month of the season, Bautista is baseballs leader in on-base percentage (.465) and on-base plus slugging percentage (1.065). His eight home runs prorate to a total of 48 over a 162-game schedule. Defensively, Bautista has one outfield assist and has come close on a couple of other occasions. His arm is feared by opposition baserunners. What arent so obvious to the viewing public are Bautistas contributions to game preparation. "Hes helped me out more than you can imagine, more than I ever imagined (he would)," said first-year outfield coach Tim Leiper. "When Im out there its like having another coach out there because number one, hes been in the league, hes seen everybody, he has great recall and he knows the game situations." When Bautista shifts to centerfield, which has happened in four games so far this season, Leiper jokes that his work day ends. Bautista takes charge and knows where he wants himself and his corner outfielders to be on each pitch. "From day one in spring training every fungo, every drill, 100-percent fundamentally correct every single time," said Leiper. "You watch him in the game, hes into every pitch, he doesnt take pitches off. Theres a reason why hes good at everything he does. Hes intelligent and hes into it. Hes as professional a guy as Ive ever been around." wholesale jerseys authentic wholesale jerseys store cheap jerseys Cheap Jerseys china wholesale jerseys ' ' '

OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Senators have signed goaltender Chris Driedger to a three-year entry-level contract and forward Garrett Thompson to a one-year entry-level contract. Driedger, a 19-year-old Winnipeg native, was the Senators third-round selection (76th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft. He recently completed his fourth season of major junior hockey with the Western Hockey Leagues Calgary Hitmen, ranking fifth among league goaltenders in save percentage (.91 and tying for seventh in wins (2. The six-foot-three, 200-pound goaltender has earned a record of 94-46-15, including eight shutouts, over 170 career WHL games with the Hitmen and Tri-City Americans. Driedger surpassed current Los Angeles Kings goaltender Martin Jones to become the Hitmens all-time saves leader when he made his 3,375th stop for the club in Calgarys 7-4 home win over Brandon on Feb. 1. Thompson had a team-high 16 goals and added 16 assists in 42 games this season with the NCAAs Ferris State Bulldogs. In four years with the Bulldogs, the 24-year-old native of Traverse City, Mich., recorded 87 points (42 goals, 45 assists) over 139 games. Prior to attending Ferris State, the six-foot-two, 191-pound, winger spent three seasons with the Traverse City North Stars of the North American Hockey League, where he scored 40 goals and added 40 assists in 121 games. <a href="http://www.shop49ersofficial.com/Women-Patrick-Willis-49ers-Jersey/">Patrick Willis 49ers Jersey</a>. VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Canucks are about where Willie Desjardins expected them to be 40 games into his first season as an NHL head coach. How they got to this point is another matter entirely. We started quicker than I thought we would — but then weve had some tough games lately, Desjardins said after Mondays practice at Rogers Arena. I think were probably where I thought, but I thought it would kind of be reversed. I thought wed go out a little bit slower and then be trending upwards. Now weve kind of flattened off again. The Canucks briefly led the NHL standings with a 16-6-1 mark back in late November, but are just 7-8-2 since, including back-to-back losses to the Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames that closed out a disappointing 2-3-0 homestand.Vancouver (23-14-3) sat second in the Pacific Division heading into Mondays action, but were just two points up on Calgary for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference, albeit with three games in hand.I think we realize how close it is to miss the playoffs, said Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieksa. Weve done a good job of staying in moment and taking care of the points, especially in the middle half, the dog days of the season. We make sure were up for these games because we know how important the points are.The Canucks will have to be up for Tuesdays opener of a five-game road trip against the league-leading Nashville Predators, who have just three losses on home ice this season.Weve got real tough games, said Desjardins. Its going to be a battle. Every points going to be a battle (but) hopefully teams are saying the same things about us.Speaking of battle, Desjardins was asked Monday before the Canucks left for Nashville what he wants more of in the second half of the season, and that was what came to mind for a team that didnt get a single power play against in the loss to Calgary. If youre battling hard then other teams get frustrated (and) when they get frustrated they take penalties, he said. Were pushing them, but were not pushing them to the point where they get frustrated and (are) taking penalties on us. We have to get to that point. The good news for the Canucks as they prepared to meet the Predators is that Vancouver has played much better away from home this season, sporting a 12-6-2 mark with victories in Pittsburgh, Washington and St. Louis.Desjardins was at a loss to explain discrepancy with the Canucks 11-8-1 home record, but offered a few ideas.Maybe its a factor that the guys are a little more focused (on the road), he said. Maybe they think on the road its going to be a real tough game and so they are really prepared, and maybe we relax a little bit at home, I dont know. Theres a couple games at home that it wouldnt have taken much (more effort) to get wins. You always wish you had a little bit more in those games.Canucks captain Henrik Sedin couldnt explain the road success either, adding the team tries to approach each game the same.I think we try to keep it simple, he said. Its not a big difference that way. I dont know why our home record isnt as good as on the road. Weve gone into some tough buildings and weve shown before this year that we can win in those buildings.Lack of scoring was a consistent theme last season when Vancouver missed the playoffs for the first time in six years. The Canucks scored just once in the losses to Florida (3-1) and Calgary (1-0) despite directing a combined 69 shots on target — they had 77 shots attempts against the Flames — but Desjardins suggested more can be done to make life difficult on the opposition.Weve got to be harder, he said. Overall we do need more. I dont think were creating as much as we need to. We have to get better and we have to create more.Sedin agreed the Canucks have to do a better job getting to the dirty areas of the ice on a road trip that will also take them to Philadelphia, Carolina, Florida and Tampa Bay.Were not driving to the net, he said. Were not getting people there, and thats usually when (referees) are calling the penalties — when they take away a scoring chance. Its something we keep talking about, but weve got to do it in games.Teams across the league are in an almost constant search for consistency and the Canucks are no different as they approach the midway point of this campaign. But Sedin said if someone had told him back in training camp that Vancouver would have 49 points through 40 games, he would have taken it.I think if you ask anyone, its a good spot to be in for us, he said. Weve got a lot of games in hand on a lot of different teams. But we know we need to win games. Its going to be tough all the way down to the final game, but its a great spot to be in. Its fun to be a part of.Were happy, but were not satisfied.Notes: Canucks defenceman Dan Hamhuis (torn groin), who has been out since getting hurt on Nov. 20, continues to practice with his teammates and hopes to play at some point on the road trip. ... There are only six guys who have ever scored more. So yes, this is a significant marker to reach. "Maybe not for Wayne Gretzky, but for the rest of us its a very big number -- 800 is a little bit better than 700," he said. Jagr scored in the second period of the New Jersey Devils 6-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday. Through bits of laughter, Jagr suggested that 800 goals is attainable, as well as Gretzkys record 894. With tongue firmly in cheek, Jagr said he could get to the first number in two years and Gretzkys mark in four. So far, he has no plans for the special puck that got past goalie Evgeni Nabokov. "I might save the 800th one, but I dont know what I am going to do with the 700th," he said with a smile. Jagrs tally sparked New Jerseys four-goal second period, and Martin Brodeur earned the win in his first start in over a month. Jagr gave the Devils a 2-0 lead early in the second, and Ryane Clowe, Marek Zidlicky, and Mark Fayne followed in rapid succession. The four goals came in a span of 4:36 in the first 8:07 of the second. Adam Henrique opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 5:00 of the first. New Jersey needed only 12 shots to net its first four goals and 16 total to get to five against the beleaguered Nabokov. Clowe and Zidlicky, with a milestone assist from Jagr, also tallied during power plays. "The game went away from us pretty quickly. We deflated after they scored two power-play goals," Nabokov said. "This is part of the business. You got knocked down, but you have to get up again and you have to do the job. "When the penalty kill is good, the goalie makes the saves. Today that wasnt the case." Kyle Okposo cut New Yorks deficit to 3-1 at 6:14 of the second with his team-leading 25th goal, but the Devils quickly answered with two more goals. Anders Nilsson, recalled Saturday from Bridgeport (AHL), made 15 saves in the third period in place of Nabokov, who stopped only 14 shots. Eric Gelinas scored a power-play goal with 38.1 seconds left to make it 6-1. Brodeur, the subject of trade rumours less than a week before the NHL deadline, played for the first time since being pulled from a loss to the New York Rangers on Jan. 26 at Yankee Stadium when he allowed six goals on 21 shots in two periods. Cory Schneider started all seven games since. "I am happy Im back playing. Thats the bottom line," Brodeur said. "I play hockey to play hockey games. Its been a hard month. "I wish every game was like that. It would make it a lot easier on us. I did my job in the first with the chances they had after we scored our goal to keep the gamee under control.dddddddddddd The second and third we just took over." Brodeur, who said he did the rare move of tapping his stick to honour Jagrs milestone goal, stopped 10 shots in the first period and 18 overall in earning his 14th win this season and 683rd of his NHL career. "I didnt have a great warmup, so I was kind of really bearing down in the game," Brodeur said. "They got some great chances early on and I was able to make the saves. That makes you feel a little bit good about your game." Brodeur said he had thoughts that this could be his final game with the Devils, the only NHL team for which he has played. He holds the right to refuse any trade. "Its just a little different because my name has been swarming around a little bit," the soon-to-be 42-year-old Brodeur said of trade rumours. "We have a couple of more days to go and we will see what the future will bring for me." The 42-year-old Jagr moved into the elite goal group when he netted his 19th of the season. The Islanders have been Jagrs top target in his 20 NHL seasons. He has 61 goals and 88 assists in 101 career games. "Is it that many? I love this team," Jagr said. "Its my favourite team. Thats a lot of goals. Its almost 10 per cent." Jagr stickhandled from the right wing boards into the slot and then slid a shot along the ice that eluded Nabokov at 3:31 of the second. Jagr was surrounded by his teammates on the ice with him and then skated across the front of the bench, patting gloves along the way. He received a nice ovation from the crowd when his milestone was announced. "Well they knew I scored 61 goals against them," he said with yet another laugh. The Islanders are the only team from the old Patrick Division for which Jagr, a recent Czech Republic Olympian, has never played. This is his first season with New Jersey. Jagr is only eight goals behind Mike Gartner, sixth on the NHL career list. Jagr is seventh in career points with 1,740. Gretzky netted his 700th goal on Long Island on Jan. 3, 1991, while with Los Angeles. Marcel Dionne, then of the Rangers, also reached the mark against the Islanders at Nassau Coliseum on Oct. 31, 1987. Dionne is fourth with 731 goals. Jagr later set up Zidlickys goal that pushed the Devils ahead 4-1. It was Jagrs 1,040th assist, tying him with Dionne for ninth in NHL history. NOTES: Devils captain Bryce Salvador missed the game because of a bruised collarbone. D Anton Volchenkov took his place in the lineup. RW Damien Brunner also sat out because of a charley horse in his left leg. C Jacob Josefson replaced him. ... The Islanders loaned G Kevin Poulin to Bridgeport (AHL). ... Clowe, Henrique and Zidlicky had two-point games. ... New York had killed 21 of 22 penalties over eight games before yielding four power-play goals. <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysauthentic.us.com/">wholesale jerseys authentic</a> <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysnflcheap.us.com/">wholesale jerseys nfl cheap</a> <a href="http://www.cheapmlssoccerjerseys.com/">cheap jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.cheapjerseyschinass.us.com/">Cheap Jerseys china</a><a href="http://www.cheapjerseysworld.us.com/">wholesale jerseys</a> ' ' '

Subban. The Norris Trophy-winning defenceman is a restricted free agent coming off a two-year bridge deal worth $5.75 million and is looking at a sizable raise in the neighbourhood of the NHLs elite defenders.VANCOUVER - After years of playing the villain, Matt Cooke relished the chance to be a hero. Cooke swears hes trying to shake his label as the most disliked player in the NHL. Hes off to a good start by scoring two goals for the Pittsburgh Penguins, and staying out of the penalty box, in a 4-3 shootout win over the Vancouver Canucks to open the NHL season Thursday night. "Im just trying to have the best game I can, Cooke said after the win. "You just try to roll with what ever comes. "I feel a sense of joy being out there with my teammates and being able to help them play. Fortunately, tonight I was able to chip in offensively. Evgeni Malkin scored the deciding goal in the shootout after the Canucks twice battled back from two-goal deficits. Malkin waited for Canuck goaltender Roberto Luongo to go down, then lifted a shot over him. Kris Letang also scored in the shootout for Pittsburgh. Vancouver shooters Mikael Samuelsson and Alex Burrows both missed their chances Luongo felt he should have stopped Malkin. "I could have been a little more patient, said Luongo, who stopped 25 shots but allowed a couple of soft goals. "I was trying to wait him out but they went backhand both times and over my pad. It was a frustrating way for the Stanley Cup finalist Canucks to start the season. Vancouver looked tentative early. Several of the players appeared nervous and fought the puck. It took almost 40 minutes for Vancouver to show the speed and finesse the team used to win the Presidents Trophy last season and advance to the final against the Boston Bruins. "Thats what happens when youre not playing your best hockey, you lose games in overtime and shootouts, said captain Henrik Sedin, who had two assists. "We were lucky to get back in this one. Daniel Sedin tied the game at 7:51 of the third with Pittsburgh being called for a delayed penalty. He fired a hard shot over a diving Penguin defenceman into the short side of the net. Defenceman Keith Ballard and centre Maxim Lapierre also scored for Vancouver. Cooke scored on the power play and short-handed. James Neal also scored a power-play goal for Pittsburgh. Pittsburghs Marc-Andre Fleury kicked one puck into his own net, but looked solid most of the night blocking 33 shots. The crowd at Rogers Arena was announced as a sellout of 18,860, but there were many empty seats. The building seemed quiet for the first half of the game but the fans began to make noise by the third period. Canuck coach Alain Vigneault said his team didnt quit. "We didnt get off to the start we wanted at home, said Vigneault. "For the first 25 minutes of this game they were the best team on the ice. "Our guys gutted it out, down by two goals against an elite team, and played a real strong third period and oveertime.dddddddddddd. Pittsburgh opened the scoring on a shot that deflected off Luongo and into the goal. Cookes short-handed goal made it 3-1 early in the second period. He shot a puck through defenceman Kevin Bieksas legs from the top of the face-off circle that grazed Luongos blocker and went into the net. For Canuck fans, seeing Luongo give up a couple bad goals brought back memories of last years Stanley Cup final. Vigneault was quick to defend his goalie. "Goaltenders are going to give up bad goals sometimes, he said. "Its part of the game and you have to play through them. "He has to play through them and the team has to play through them. For much of his career Cooke was known as a cheap-shot artist. He was a master at delivering a dirty blow, then disappearing before anyone could get even. Last March he was suspended for the final 10 games of the regular season and the first round of the playoffs for an elbow to the head of Ryan McDonagh of the New York Rangers. With the league cracking down on hits to the head, Cooke said he has learned his lesson. He has watched video and worked with coaches to try and play clean. One game is a short yardstick, but Cooke feels good about the changes hes made. "When you have success early it makes it that much easier to feel good about what youre doing, he said. "If I didnt score two goals tonight, and the result was the same, I would still feel good about what was happening. It just makes it that much sweeter. Cooke played almost seven years in Vancouver, before being traded to Washington in 2008. He signed with Pittsburgh as a free agent for the 2008-09 season. He admits being traded caused some initial hard feelings. "I think that time heals, he said. "It was an emotional time for me, Im not going to lie. "I felt like I had played my whole career in Vancouver. I had ingrained myself in the city. A lot of the angst I had toward the organization and the city for the way it ended (is gone). Now I can focus on the good times I had here. The good moments and all the good people that are in this city. The Penguins played the game without captain Sidney Crosby who is still suffering from post-concussion symptoms. Crosby is travelling with the Penguins and practised with his teammates in Vancouver Wednesday. He still isnt sure when he will return. Notes: GM Mike Gillis says centre Ryan Kesler, who underwent hip surgery during the summer, could be ready to play in five or six games. ...It was the first time the Canucks hosted a season-opening game against Pittsburgh. ...Canuck captain Henrik Sedin played in his 500th consecutive game. ...Prior to the game the Canucks acknowledged representatives from police, firefighters, medical personnel and citizens who helped during the June 15 Stanley Cup riot.

NEW YORK -- NBA owners and players are ready to try mediation, and commissioner David Stern wants results quickly. Stern said last week during an interview with WFAN radio in New York without a deal Tuesday when the sides meet with federal mediator George Cohen, his "gut" was there wouldnt be NBA basketball on Christmas. Owners are opening two days of board meetings Wednesday, and Stern wants to be able to bring a deal to them. But can a mediator swoop in and smooth out two years of bickering in one day? Lawyer Jay Krupin, chair of EpsteinBeckerGreens national labour practice in Washington, doesnt think so -- unless the players are prepared to concede on some issues. "If the players want to get back on the court, then this is a great time for them to try to show that theyre willing to make some type of compromise, and I think thats what it is," he said. "This is an opportunity to really determine whether or not the players are willing to make concessions. "I think the owners are willing to walk away without concessions, so if the players really want to make concessions when they meet, that has to be expressed to the mediator. "If that happens, then the burden turns to the NBA to say, All right, youll be willing to make some concessions; now were willing to talk. If theyre not willing to make concessions, then the mediation would just go on for the day and itll let the NBA know that they probably have to cancel, go through Christmas and maybe even the rest of the season." Players already feel theyve conceded plenty financially, and they dismissed Sterns attempt to attach added importance to Tuesdays talks. Union president Derek Fisher of the Los Angeles Lakers said it was just an "arbitrary deadline" for potential Christmas cancellations. Stern was clear in the radio interview and others he gave late last week that he was just stating his opinion about further losses of games -- but not about his desire for significant movement Tuesday. "If theres a breakthrough, its going to come Tuesday," he told NBA TV. "And if not, I think that the season is really going to potentially escape from us because we arent making any progress." Cohen, who tried to resolve the NFLs labour dispute, met with the sides individually at their offices in New York on Monday. He will then oversee talks between their full bargaining committees Tuesday at a hotel. He said last week he had already been in contact with representatives of both sides "for a number of months," so hes familiar with some of the issues that still divide them. Players oppose a hard salary cap, and they believe owners attempts to make the luxury tax more punitive and limit the use of spending exceptions will effectively create one. Also, each side has formally proposed receiving 53 per cent of basketball-related income after players were guaranteed 57 per cent under the previous collective bargaining agreement. With so many issues remaining beyond those, it seems too much to get done in one day. Executive director Billy Hunter said Friday after meeting with players in Los Angeles the union sought to have the whole week set aside for mediation but the league wouldnt commit to that because of its owners meetings. "The board of governors meeting has been scheduled for a year for Wednesday and Thursday. We told the mediator that we would make ourselves available day and night on all other days," Stern said in a statement to The Associated Press. Cohen was appointed director of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service by American President Barack Obama in 2009. He helped broker a deal between Major League Soccer and its players just before the season was scheduled to begin and was lead lawyer for the baseball players union when it won an injunction against its owners in 1995, ending the 7 1/2-month strike. Krupin calls Cohen "a very good mediator" and "wonderful gentleman," saying, "If theres a real interest in the parties trying to get something done, George would be able to make it happen." But, he adds, thats dependent on the players. "Its much easier for the federal mediator to say to the players, Look at the scale where we are. Really the owners have very little to lose. They made a long-term investment. As players, you have only a few years to play at your peak and the owners can hold out a lot longer than you can. So when you look at this objectively, you really should try to understand that there has to be a change in the system," Krupin said. "And I think thats why the commissioner said, Im going to give you Tuesday. Im not going to meet the rest of the week. I think that (owners) know they have the upper hand and theyre giving them the opportunity to reach a deal, and so I dont see George having to put great thoughts into either sides mind. I think that George can be used as a facilitator to try to get a deal if the players really wanted one." <a href="http://www.classyjersey.com/">cheap jerseys from china</a>. ARLINGTON, Texas -- Christian Yelich kept coming up to bat in big situations. And the young leadoff hitter kept coming through for the Miami Marlins. Yelich set career highs with four hits and four RBIs, including the go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning, as the Marlins beat the Texas Rangers 8-5 on Tuesday night for their record-tying 13th consecutive interleague victory. "Oh really, thats awesome, I guess," Yelich said about the streak, after first asking what it was. "I guess we just like playing (AL teams) and play well against them." The 13-game interleague winning streak matched the major league record shared by the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, who both reached that mark in 2004. The Marlins, 8-0 vs. American League teams this season, wrap up their quick two-game set in Texas on Wednesday. "Its one of those baseball things you probably cant figure out," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "Im sure theres probably somebody a lot smarter than me that can figure it out, but we just go out there and try to win a ball game." Yelichs single in the seventh inning sent home two unearned runs and put the Marlins ahead to stay, after the Rangers had taken the lead with a four-run sixth. There was also his tiebreaking two-run double in the fourth and the hustling double in the sixth when he scored on Casey McGehees two-out hit. "That was a great play, a big momentum-builder for us," Redmond said. "Anytime you can press the issue with base runners, you put pressure on them and it fires the guys up." Bryan Morris (5-0), the third Marlins pitcher, struck out two in 1 1-3 scoreless innings. Steve Cishek worked a perfect ninth with two strikeouts for his 15th save in 16 chances. Texas right-hander Jason Frasor (1-1) was responsible for the two unearned runs while facing four batters. Miami took advantage of second baseman Rougned Odors fielding error on a potential double play in the seventh when Yelichs two-out single made it 6-5. "In the end, we didnt play the defence we were capable of playing. That hurt us," manager Ron Washington said. "We fought hard to get back into that game but we shot ourselves in the foot." Garrett Jones drove in two runs for the Marlins, including his RBI double in the eighth right after the Rangers committed two errors on one play, when Giancarlo Stanton went from first to third on a ball hit to left and then scored on the miscues. Texas went ahead 5-4 after their sixth-inning outburst capped off when Brad Snyder, called up from Triple-A Round Rock earlier Tuesday, scored from second base when Odor beat out a slow chopper for an infield single. Marlins starter Tom Koehler struck out seven through five innings, but the right-hander then allowed the first four batters to reach in the sixth, including a bases-loaded walk to Snyder, before Robinson Chirinos had his second sacrifice fly of the game. Yelich doubled off the base of the wall in centre field for a 3-1 lead in the fourth off Colby Lewis, after Justin Bour had a single and Jeff Mathis drew a walk to start the inning. Mathis might have been out at the plate if shortstop Elvis Andrus relay throw hadnt been cut off near the mound by Snyder, who was playing first base in the major leagues for the first time. An outfielder before playing his last two Triple-A games at first base, Snyder came up when Mitch Moreland (left ankle) was put on the 15-day disabled list. NOTES: The Rangers are 15-19 at home, including 2-6 on this homestand after coming off their longest trip of the season with a 7-4 record. ... Miami had 14 hits and left 13 runners on base. ... Texas has a majors-high 13 players on the DL. ... Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre had multiple hits for the seventh time in eight games. <a href="http://www.2015rosherunsaleuk.com/Mint-Blue-White-Nike-Roshe-Run-Womens-Shoes-UK-Nike45942-59.html">Mint Blue White Nike Roshe Run Womens Shoes</a>. Vancouver outshot San Jose 13-7 in the third period and the rally was sparked by Henrik Sedin, really not a moment too soon considering his struggles in this postseason.(Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers are in the midst of playing 10 of 12 games on the road and will close out a three-game swing tonight against the San Jose Sharks. It dropped the opener of the trek by a 3-0 score at Calgary, then was doubled up by Phoenix in a 4-2 setback on Thursday. Taylor Hall returned from injury to score a pair of goals and Devan Dubnyk made 38 saves for the Oilers, who have lost three in a row on the road and fell to 5-9-1 as the guest this season. "We were not near as engaged as 18 skaters as we needed to be," said Oilers coach Tom Renney. Renneys club has just five wins in the last 17 games (5-11-1) and will return home for two games after their tilt with the Sharks. Edmonton will then hit the road again for a seven-game trek from Dec. 26-Jan. 7. Edmonton and San Jose are playing the first of four meetings this season. The Sharks won three of four matchups with the Oilers a year ago and have prevailed in nine of the previous 11 encounters with Edmonton. The Oilers ended a four-game road losing streak in this series with aa 5-2 victory on Jan.dddddddddddd 13, 2010. The Sharks got their six-game homestand off to a promising start and will try for back-to-back wins for the first time in almost a month when they entertain Edmonton tonight at HP Pavilion. The Sharks ended a three-game slide with a 5-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday in the back end of a home-and-home set. Brent Burns, Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture scored in a 4:29 span of the third period, while Ryane Clowe and Michal Handzus also scored for San Jose, which won for the third time in 10 tries (3-5-2) and improved to 9-6-1 at home this season. "I think we decided it was our turn to come back. It is a big win for us," Couture said. Antti Niemi made 23 saves in a winning effort. The Sharks havent recorded two straight wins since a four-game run from Nov. 17-23 and are tied with Phoenix for second place in the Pacific Division. Dallas currently leads the division. Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez will be sidelined at least one week because of a lower back strain. The Nets revealed the diagnosis prior to Mondays game against the Cavaliers and noted Lopez will be evaluated again in a week. Lopez was coming off a 20-point, seven-rebound effort in just 27 minutes against the Hawks on Friday and was averaging 16.1 points and 6.2 rebounds over his first 16 games. A series of injuries, most notably a foot fracture, have limited the 7-footer to just 96 games the previous three seasons. Lopez will miss at least four games with the current injury. <a href="http://www.cheapnfljerseys2015.us.com/">wholesale jerseys</a>. Thats where their similarities end. Little-used defender Tobias Alderweireld headed home a corner kick for Atletico in the 74th minute to cancel out Samuel Garcias opener. Though Malaga finished with 10 men, Atletico failed to score a winner that would have secured a first league title in 18 years after Elche held Barcelona 0-0.ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — When his father, Tie, played for the Maple Leafs, Max Domi took to the ice after morning skates and imagined playing a game at Air Canada Centre. Its pretty close to happening, Domi said Thursday. Domi and the rest of Canadas world junior team will face Russia tonight in its first exhibition game to prepare for the upcoming championship tournament. Its a chance for coach Benoit Groulx, his staff and the management team to make some final roster decisions. For Domi, its an opportunity to live out part of a lifelong hockey dream. A prospect with the Arizona Coyotes whos starring in his fourth season with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, he spent much of his youth in Toronto. The whole experience is going to be pretty special, for sure, Domi said. Its something were all looking forward to. But weve got to take care of business and weve got to beat the Russians. In downplaying his trip to Toronto, Domi seems to have bought into Groulxs concern about what the environment could do to the 19-year-old forward. I think its big for Max to go to Toronto and play a game, Groulx said Wednesday. I think its going to be very important for him to manage his emotion, to stay calm and focus on what hes got to do, not on being in Toronto where his dad used to be a star. Tie Domi spent 10 full seasons and parts of two others with the Leafs. During that time, Max developed a love for one specific part of games at Air Canada Centre: the cookies in the family lounge. Theyre unbelievable, man, Domi said. I dont know what it is. They have different guys names and their numbers.dddddddddddd. (Mats) Sundin was my guy, so I shoved them all in my pockets and just ran away and they were all gone before I got home. Domi is close to his fathers size at five-foot-nine and 194 pounds but brings much sharper offensive skills. In 214 games with London, Domi has 287 points on 111 goals and 176 assists. Groulx said Domi had a good summer camp with Canadas world junior team and hasnt seen that play drop off. Domi has 58 points in 27 games so far this season. I watched him play three times from September to November, and every time I watched him play he was good, Groulx said. So Im not surprised the way hes performing here so far. We expect him to be a good player for us. Domi spent this week of training camp as the first-line left-winger alongside Sam Reinhart and Anthony Duclair. Thats major billing for the 2013 first-round pick, skating with the No. 2 selection in 2014 and a player who has spent the bulk of this NHL season with the New York Rangers. Over the past year, Domi said he has tried to work on his 200-foot game and become a more complete player. Groulx liked what he saw out of Domi at camp. I like the way he works, the poise that he has with the puck, Groulx said. He seems to be very confident. Some of that confidence comes from Domis speed, which teammates know is one of his biggest assets. Hes a good guy in the room, centre Connor McDavid said. And on the ice he can absolutely fly with the puck and he can make so many special plays. Just an unbelievable player.

TORONTO -- Toronto defender Doneil Henry said hes not one to shy away when he makes mistakes and accepted full blame for a pair of miscues which resulted in New England Revolution goals. Henry, who missed three games with a knee injury, was charged with a handball in the penalty area in the 82nd minute as he went to block a strike from Patrick Mullins. On the ensuing penalty kick, Lee Nguyen picked up his fourth goal of the season, giving the Revolution a 2-1 win Saturday afternoon. Henrys turnover in the 24th minute led to the Revolutions first goal of the day. Daigo Kobayashi capitalized on the turnover and sent the through ball in for rookie Mullins, whose left-footed strike beat a diving Julio Cesar to tie the game 1-1. The goal was Mullins first of his MLS career. "That pass there on the first goal, thats my fault, I take full blame for that, but it was a tough match," said Henry. "I think we were very unfortunate not to put more goals in the back of the net, but at the end of the day, I have to get better, and thats on me. "Second half penalty, dying seconds of the game, thats unfortunate, no way I go to hand ball that, Im not even looking at the ball. I just tried to put my body in the way." In Henrys absence defender Bradley Orr filled in at centre-back, but TFC coach Ryan Nelsen felt Orr was playing out of position. "Doneil had been training really well and him and Steven (Caldwell) are centre-backs, Brad is not a centre-back," Nelsen explained. "Also, if you look at the attributes of Steven and Bradley, theyre very similar type players. I thought we needed some athleticism. "I didnt think that was our problem." The win was the first in eight tries at BMO Field for New England (4-3-2), and stretches its undefeated streak to four games. Toronto (3-4-0) has now lost three straight. Henry had an opportunity to redeem himself in the 84th minute as Michael Bradley sent in a cross off a set piece, but Henrys header sailed just over the bar. Then in the 86th minute, Gilberto put a header off a Mark Bloom cross off the post. "I thought the first half, early on, we created some good chances, just unlucky not to score, its frustrating. I thought we were the better side in the second half," said Jermain Defoe, who returned to the Reds lineup after missing five weeks due to a hamstring injury. "Overall I thought we were the better team, especially the second half, they didnt really create anything. We were the ones creating everything for the chances." Toronto opened the scoring in the sixth minute as Jacksons strike deflected off of Revolution defender A.J. Soares and got past keeper Bobby Shuttleworth. The goal was Jacksons first in MLS. Mullins had an excellent chance to give the visitors a 2-1 lead in the 28th minute with a strike in the area but put it wide of the goal. "The most important thing is that we got the three points, especially in a tough place to play on the road," said Mullins. "I think the big thing today was not me scoring or Lee scoring, it was a full team effort from start to finish and us getting the win." Cesar made a huge save off of Teal Bunbury in the 39th minute. A Revs midfielder sent the ball into the area for Bunbury, but he failed to get enough on the ball before Cesar was able to grab possession of the ball. Gilberto had a number of first half chances for Toronto. In the fifth minute, the forward put his strike just wide of the net. Then in the 30th minute, Gilbertos strike from the left side of the box went of the far goal post. Jackson was handed a yellow card in the 43rd minute for a dangerous play as his boot caught Revs defender Chris Tierney in the chest. "Its really difficult when you start slow, and they capitalized on that scoring early," said Revolution coach, Jay Heaps. "The first half was very open, it could have been 2-2 and I thought that the team fought hard and found a way to win as we didnt play our best so that is always nice." The two teams reconvene August 30 at Gillette Stadium in New England before a third and final meeting Oct. 25 at BMO Field. <a href="http://www.chargersproshop.us.com/Womens-Authentic-Melvin-Gordon-Chargers-Jersey/">Melvin Gordon Chargers Jersey</a>. -- Vladimir Tkachev scored his second goal of the game 16:58 into overtime as the Moncton Wildcats took Game 2 against the host Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 6-5 on Friday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action. <a href="http://www.chargersproshop.us.com/Womens-Kendall-Reyes-Authentic-Jersey/">Kendall Reyes Chargers Jersey</a>. The Titans have lost eight consecutive games and are down to third-string quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, who is making his eighth career start. The Jaguars have dropped six of seven, have scored two offensive touchdowns in the past four games and are without their top rusher, top receiver and top tackler. So expectations should be low.Theres not a lot to hang our hat on from this season, but its a Thursday night game, said Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt, whose team is looking to sweep Jacksonville for the just second time in 11 years.National games always seem to add a little more zest to it. I dont know if its really sweeping a division opponent that makes that much as it is an opportunity to get a win.The Jaguars, meanwhile, are favourites for the first time since Sept. 30, 2012. Since losing 27-10 to Cincinnati as a 1 1/2-point favourite, Jacksonville had been underdogs for 42 consecutive games.Weve had plenty of opportunities to win a lot of games, Jaguars defensive tackle SenDerrick Marks said. Its like we have to learn how to finish. ... Once we build that mindset and grow the guys, I really feel like it will be that much better. Weve had plenty of opportunities to pull out a victory in all of these games and we just fell short. I think we have that ability to change that within no time.Getting the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft should help either team, and the Thursday nights loser would move closer to securing the top pick. For Tennessee, it could mean having its pick between Oregon quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota and Florida States Jameis Winston.Former first-round draft pick Jake Locker is a free agent, and Whisenhunt bristled earlier this week when asked whether he was committed to Zach Mettenberger.I dont know where you heard that, Whisenhunt said. Thats something that we said wed discuss. Thats not a question that we want to discuss in-season. Thats something wed go through after the season is over and go back and look at all of the snaps and go from there. For Jaccksonville, landing the top draft spot would leave the rebuilding franchise in position to possibly trade down and get more picks.ddddddddddddNeither team is thinking about that right now — at least not publicly. They focused on winning, regardless of how less-than-ideal the matchup might appear.A lot of people will turn the TV on Thursday night football and theres nothing else to watch, Titans receiver Kendall Wright said. Were going to try to give them a show either way. Here are some things to know about the Titans and Jaguars:___BORTLES READY? The Jaguars are leaning toward playing injured quarterback Blake Bortles. The rookie sprained his right foot Sunday at Baltimore and has been limited during light practices this week. He will go through pregame mobility tests before his status is determined.MARKS MARK: Jaguars defensive tackle SenDerrick Marks has extra incentive against his former team. Marks needs half a sack to trigger a $600,000 bonus in his contract. Marks has 7 1/2 sacks, an impressive number for an interior lineman playing on a team that rarely has a lead. I wont abandon the scheme just to be selfish and get something for me, said Marks, who spent four seasons with the Titans.STILL LOOKING FOR 100: The Titans have yet to have a 100-yard rusher this season, and only one receiver had topped the century mark in 2014. Kendall Wright had 132 yards receiving in a Nov. 30 loss at Houston, then he broke a bone in his right hand in practice. That has kept him out of the past two games. The Titans are hoping Wright can return against the Jaguars, with Whisenhunt saying its a matter of pain tolerance.AT LEAST THERES WALKER: Titans tight end Delanie Walker has been the bright spot on offence, and he already has set the franchise record for yards receiving in a season (793). He also is the only player on the roster to top 100 yards receiving in two separate games, and he had 93 in last weeks loss to the Jets. That has made him a big target for defences.MULARKEYS RETURN: Former Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey will return to EverBank Field for the first time since getting fired after the 2012 season. Mularkey sat out last year before joining the Titans as tight ends coach.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysauthentic.us.com/">wholesale jerseys authentic</a> <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysnflcheap.us.com/">wholesale jerseys nfl cheap</a> <a href="http://www.cheapmlssoccerjerseys.com/">cheap jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.cheapjerseyschinass.us.com/">Cheap Jerseys china</a><a href="http://www.cheapjerseysworld.us.com/">wholesale jerseys</a> ' ' '

The second game of the Tigers scheduled four-game series at the Chicago White Sox was postponed Tuesday night. <a href="http://www.cheapnfljerseysonline.co.uk/">Cheap Jerseys</a>. The Thunder, with their 20-something All-Star duo Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, are instead going home to wait and see who they will play next. And it was their other emerging star who led the way. CLEVELAND -- Brandon Weeden never once hung his head after getting hurt and losing his job to a hometown hero. He figured the Browns would need him again, and he had to be ready. On Thursday night, his number was called and Weeden delivered. Weeden came off the bench after Brian Hoyer injured his knee and rallied the Browns to a 37-24 victory over the Buffalo Bills, who also lost starting rookie quarterback EJ Manuel with a knee injury. After spraining his right thumb in Week 2, Weeden watched as Hoyer, a lifelong Browns fan who began the season as Clevelands No. 3 quarterback, led the team to two straight wins. Weeden got healthy enough to play but found himself demoted to a backup role, not what the first-round draft pick imagined after being named the starter in training camp. He could have sulked or complained. Instead, he fought back. "Whether I was the starter, eyes are still on you to see how you respond, to see how you react," he said. "I was upbeat the entire time and never let it bother me. Inside, it just kind of lit a fire." Weeden threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Josh Gordon in the third quarter as the Browns (3-2) won their third straight and temporarily moved into sole possession of first place in the AFC North. Its the Browns best record after five games since they were 3-2 in 2001. ""We dont care about history," Gordon said. "This is a new year and this is a new team." Safety T.J. Ward intercepted rookie Jeff Tuels pass and returned it 44 yards for a TD with 1:44 left to end any comeback hopes for the Bills (2-3). Travis Benjamin had an electrifying 79-yard TD punt return in the first half for Cleveland. Hoyer sustained a potentially serious right knee injury on a scramble in the first quarter, and Manuel was forced out after taking a helmet to his right knee on a run in the third. Neither returned and their injuries could impact both teams seasons. Following the game, Hoyer left the stadium on crutches with his knee immobilized. Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said Hoyer has a sprained knee and will undergo an MRI on Friday. But the tone of Hoyers teammates seemed to indicate that the 27-year-old, who was finally getting a chance to start in his fifth NFL season, might be sidelined for an extended period. "He was playing great, man," said Weeden, who added that Hoyer was in the locker room following the game to celebrate with his teammates. "You hate to see it because hes a teammate and a friend. I tried to be as positive with him as I could." With the Browns trailing 7-0, Hoyer took off on an 11-yard run and was sliding after picking up the first down when he was hit from the side by rookie linebacker Kiko Alonso. Both of Hoyers knees were bent awkwardly on the hit in front of Clevelands bench, and several players and coaches yelled for a penalty to be called on Alonso. Hoyer stayed on the grouund for several moments before he was assisted to a trainers table.dddddddddddd. He limped to the locker room for tests and treatment. Hoyer was attempting to become the first quarterback in team history to win his first three starts -- now he may not get back on the field this season. "We definitely dont want to see a teammate go down like that, especially a guy like Hoyer," Gordon said. "Hes a great guy and I hope he comes back healthy." C.J. Spiller had a 54-yard TD run and Fred Jackson had a pair of 1-yard TD runs for the Bills, who could do nothing on offence once Manuel left. Manuel got hurt at the end of a 14-yard run when he was hammered near the sideline by Browns safety Tashaun Gipson. Manuel walked off the field attempted to get his knee loose on the sideline by jogging and riding a stationary bike. But after having his knee examined, he jogged to the locker room with two trainers. Bills coach Doug Marrone said the doctors told him Manuel has a sprained knee and assume he will have an MRI. "I was hoping we could get him back, but they said it was a sprain and they shut him down," Marrone said. "Hes a tough kid. He took a shot. He was trying to score a touchdown." Billy Cundiff kicked field goals of 24 and 44 yards in the fourth quarter for the Browns, who overcame a 10-0 deficit and were down 24-17 less than two minutes into the second quarter. Cundiffs second kick with 2:91 left put the Browns ahead 30-24, and Cleveland turned it over to their third-ranked overall defence. Beyond the quarterbacks, both teams had one other key player go down with an injury. Bills leading receiver Stevie Johnson injured his back in the first half and didnt return. Johnson caught two catches for 19 yards before he went out. Browns defensive end Desmond Bryant was taken to the Cleveland Clinic in the third quarter after experiencing shortness of breath. Last year with Oakland, Bryant had to be hospitalized during a game with an irregular heartbeat, but returned to play the next week With Buffalo leading 24-17, Weeden found Gordon down the left sideline and the wide receiver made a juggling catch. Weeden started slowly but finished 13 of 24 for 197 yards. "He did a great job," tight end Jordan Cameron said. "At first he was a little rusty. I think he shook that off and really got us going." NOTES: Benjamin set a team record with 179 return yards, breaking the mark held by Eric Metcalf, who had 166 on Oct. 24, 1993, against Pittsburgh. ... Bills DE Mario Williams had two sacks, moving him into a tie for the league lead with 7 1/2. ... Bills WR T.J. Graham sustained a neck injury in the fourth but returned. ... Browns RB Chris Ogbonnaya left in the first half with a concussion and did not return. ... With three catches, Cameron has 33 this season, the most by a Browns TE in the first five games. <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysauthentic.us.com/">wholesale jerseys authentic</a> <a href="http://www.wholesalejerseysnflcheap.us.com/">wholesale jerseys nfl cheap</a> <a href="http://www.cheapmlssoccerjerseys.com/">cheap jerseys</a> <a href="http://www.cheapjerseyschinass.us.com/">Cheap Jerseys china</a><a href="http://www.cheapjerseysworld.us.com/">wholesale jerseys</a> ' ' '

we support the entire team

The popular commentary out of almost any NHL training camp, including Vancouvers, often circles around the top offensive line combinations created by the coaching staff. While there certainly is plenty of room for intrigue when it comes to what bodies will appear in the top half of Willie Desjardins forward crew, it is my feeling that the most captivating section of forwards lies in the bottom half of the allotted four lines. The trios representing what could be the third and fourth lines will have a large role to play under the regime of Desjardins. If his coaching history lends its hand to how these six players will be used, by all accounts, they will be responsible for making the Canucks a tough team to play against in the following ways: Pace and Tempo: Desjardins likes his teams to play up to a high level of compete, which includes dictating the pace of the game and determining the change in tempo. If the level drops off, no line will be spared from the expectation to once again kick-start the pace and swing the tempo back in favour of the Canucks. Maintaining the tempo is also a requirement and the bottom half of the forward lineup may be played in more situations in order to pave the way for the top six forwards to spring into action. Frustrating the opponent: Owning up to responsible play will be a mandate across all of the lines, but in particular, the bottom half of Desjardins forward crew. These lines will be called upon to finish every check and play sensible, not giving into reactionary penalties. If this attitude is combined with the above pace and tempo narrative, one can imagine how agitated the opponent could become. Balancing the line-up: It is my belief that Desjardins would like to have the opportunity to go to any line, any night and rely on that line based on how the game is being played out. This puts the onus on the bottom six forwards to be ready to play variable minutes from night to night, depending on how the coach sees fit. It may surprise some which lines get used against certain teams or on certain nights, but it could be a reactionary element that helps to round out Dejardins arsenal. Another aspect of increased bottom six minutes is to bring balance to the lineup, relating to the top six forwards. This not only applies to overall minutes, but situational play in games. The fresher the top six are kept throughout the later stages of the game, the more opportunity there is to dictate the play and either change gears to catch up or to power home the win. With all of this in mind, the competition for spots on the third and fourth lines could be extreme. Many of the players who held those jobs in the previous year are still around and there have also been new names added to the mix, which widens the group that must be narrowed down, come opening night. Adding to internal competition, is the fact that some players are in contract years, including the likes of Shawn Matthias, Brad Richardson and Tom Sestito who are due to become unrestricted free agents and Linden Vey who is a restricted free agent at seasons end. These players will not only be competing in camp for jobs on this years Canucks team, but will be slugging it out the whole season for a chance to be renewed. Thus, the drive to survive is on, in a big way, for a group of forwards hoping to find their names on the Canucks roster this season and it all leads to puck-drop Oct. 8th in Calgary. <a href="http://www.cheapsoccerjerseys.us.com/">cheap soccer jerseys from china</a>. -- Unselfish offence, tenacious defence. <a href="http://www.cheapsoccerjerseys.us.com/">wholesale soccer jerseys</a>. The tweets were not deleted. James needed intravenous fluids after the game, during which temperatures inside San Antonios AT&T Center were measured at nearly 90 degrees after the arenas air conditioning system failed. The Spurs won the game 110-95, pulling away in the final 3:59 after James left the game for good with cramps ravaging his left leg. "Our apologies for our response to fans tweets during (Thursday) nights Heat vs. Spurs game," Gatorade said in a release. "We got caught up in the heat of the battle. As a longtime partner of the Miami Heat, we support the entire team." Gatorade has a long business relationship with the NBA.dddddddddddd James is an endorser of Powerade, a Gatorade rival. One of the tweets, in response to someone who directed a message toward the sports drinks feed, read that, "We were waiting on the sidelines, but he prefers to drink something else." He may be paid by Powerade, but it appeared James was drinking Gatorade at least once during Game 1 of the finals. Video and photos taken of James on the Heat bench during the second half showed him holding what appeared to be a Gatorade bottle with the label removed, as has been the case on many other occasions. The original tweet posted by Gatorade came late in Game 1, saying, "With a game this hot, were right at home." The Spurs said a power outage was to blame for the air conditioning failure. The team announced Friday it had been repaired.

Jurgen Melzer, playing with a broken

DETROIT -- Prince Fielder was placed on the disabled list Friday, days before he is scheduled to have season-ending neck surgery. The move by the Texas Rangers came a day after the team said Fielder would have cervical fusion surgery Tuesday for the herniated disk in his neck. General manager Jon Daniels said he expected a second opinion to confirm the initial recommendation for the operation. It is the first time the durable first baseman has been on the DL in his career. Before a nerve root block injection to treat his neck last Saturday, Fielders 547 consecutive games played was the longest active streak in the majors. Fielder, who turned 30 earlier this month, missed only one game the previous five seasons and hadnt missed a game since Sept. 14, 2010. Fielder went on the 15-day DL, retroactive to May 17. Infielder Donnie Murphy was recalled from an injury rehab assignment and activated for the game against the Tigers. Mitch Moreland was set to start at first base, where he played last year before the trade for Fielder pushed him toward the designated hitter role. "A big blow for us as a team, losing him in the middle of the lineup," Moreland said. "But weve been dealing with adversity all year." Moreland hit 23 home runs last season. He was hitting .275 entering Friday nights game at Detroit. "Prince is on the DL. We dont have him," manager Ron Washington said. "And theres nobody who can replace him, so let Mitch Moreland be Mitch Moreland. Dont even mention Mitch Moreland in the same breath with a Prince Fielder." Murphy was placed on the disabled list May 8 with a neck strain. He was hurt when he tripped at first base trying to beat out a ground ball the previous day against Colorado. He played six games on an injury rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock, and Friday was the date he was eligible to return to the roster. The Rangers have a majors-high 13 players on the disabled list. They have had 17 DL placements this season, also the most in the majors. Fielder hit .247 with three home runs and 16 RBIs in 42 games in his first season with the Rangers. The only time he has played fewer games was when he appeared in 39 as a rookie in 2005 with Milwaukee. The Tigers, meanwhile, sent minor league infielder Francisco Martinez outright to Double-A Erie, a move that cleared room on the 40-man roster for right-hander Corey Knebel. Knebels contract was purchased by the Tigers from Triple-A Toledo. <a href="http://www.barataszapatillas.net/">Zapatillas New Balance España 2015</a>. - Klay Thompson scored 25 points and backcourt-mate Stephen Curry added 20, leading the Golden State Warriors to a 120-105 preseason victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. <a href="http://www.barataszapatillas.net/new-balance-574/new-balance-574-ninos.html">New Balance 574 Niños Baratas</a>.
