SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Just because the Sacramento Kings were familiar with Tyreke Evans didnt mean they could stop him. The former NBA Rookie of the Year made a memorable return to Sacramento, scoring a season-high 25 points and adding 12 assists to help the New Orleans Pelicans snap a four-game losing streak with a 113-97 win over the Kings on Monday night. "I know they have no shot blockers, so I was attacking every chance I got," said Evans, who made 7 of 14 shots and hit 11 of 12 free throws after coming off the bench. "Im quick enough to take it to the basket. Thats what I do best. I wanted to be aggressive." Known for his slashing style of play and his uncanny ability to get to the rim in four seasons with the Kings, Evans stayed true to his game, bypassing perimeter shots in favour of going to the hoop. He also added six rebounds and three steals. "He got wherever he wanted to go. Nobody could keep in front of him and thats how he gets to the rim," Kings coach Michael Malone said. "If our guys didnt think he would try to come into this arena and get off, then I question their IQ. He played here and hes going to come here and try to show everybody what were missing. And he did." Evans averaged 17.5 points in his four seasons with the Kings. He joined the Pelicans in the off-season as part of a three-team trade and subsequently signed a four-year, $44 million contract. The Pelicans pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Kings 36-23 to salvage their only victory on a five-game road trip. Evans was a major factor in the second half, scoring 13 points. "I just told the guys that this is just about us getting stops and our defence had to prevail in the fourth quarter and I thought it did," New Orleans coach Monty Williams said. DeMarcus Cousins had 24 points and 14 rebounds for the Kings, who committed 22 turnovers in losing for the sixth time in eight games. Isaiah Thomas had 21 points and Marcus Thornton had 19. Rudy Gay made 2-of -12 shots and scored 11 points. "First of all, we didnt get stops," Kings guard Isaiah Thomas said. "Secondly, we didnt dial in on that end of the floor and he made every play. He scored, he passed, and he did what he wanted." Anthony Davis had 21 points and 11 rebounds for New Orleans. Jrue Holiday had 17 points and 10 assists, and Eric Gordon also had 17 points. Ryan Anderson, who grew up in the Sacramento region, had a difficult evening trying to contain Cousins at the defensive end. Anderson went to the bench with five fouls at the 8:17 mark in the fourth quarter. The Pelicans leading scorer missed 3 of 9 shots and had eight points. NOTES: Shaquille ONeal sat courtside next to Kings majority owner Vivek Ranadive and Hall of Fame player Chris Mullin, who works in an advisory role with the team and frequently attends home games. ONeal is one of Sacramentos minority owners. . Pelicans starting centre Jason Smith missed his second consecutive game with a bruised bone in his right knee. Smith, who is on the inactive list, had started the teams first 24 games. . Cousins had it going early for the Kings, getting 12 points and seven rebounds in the first quarter . . Atleticos best finish in the competition is runner-up 40 years ago but it is top of the Spanish league along with Barcelona and Real Madrid, and qualified from its group with an almost perfect record — slipping in a 1-1 draw at Zenit St. Petersburg. Milan is going through another transitional year and is under the guidance of inexperienced coach Clarence Seedorf. The Italian team is further hampered by injuries and suspensions. Despite its difficulties, Milan is the only Italian team to progress to the knockout stages. Can it pull off a shock? Here are five things to know about the match: KAKA CONCERN: Talismanic AC Milan playmaker Kaka expects to be fully fit in time. Kaka recovered from the flu to play in Fridays 1-0 victory over Bologna but had to be replaced 10 minutes from time after injuring his right ankle. The Brazilian returned to training on Monday. "After Fridays win, were confident and ready for Wednesday," said Kaka, who scored against Celtic in the group stage. AC Milan is without Sulley Muntari and captain Riccardo Montolivo, who are both suspended, and Stephan El Shaarawy, Valter Birsa, Robinho and Bryan Cristante, who are all injured. Cristian Zapata is also doubtful with injury. New signing Keisuke Honda is cup tied, having played in the Champions League this season for CSKA Moscow. MILAN MISERY: AC Milan looks to the Champions League as a welcome distraction from its domestic woes. Milan lies ninth in the Serie A after the exact same number of wins, draws and defeats — eight. Its mediocre form got coach Massimiliano Allegri sacked at the beginning of the year, and former player Clarence Seedorf replaced him. It is the 37-year-olds first managerial experience. However, Seedorf knows the tournament better than most. The Dutchman lifted the trophy the last time Milan won the competition, in 2007, and is the only player to have won the league with three different clubs — Ajax, Real Madrid and Milan twice. "They are favourites in every area, but the Champions League is something different," Seeedorf said.dddddddddddd "I am confident but it will be difficult. We need to have a very great game. "The 2007 Champions League represents the characteristics of this tournament. You can give so much more if you are all together. That year we werent at the highest level, but we changed in the Champions League. We have to do so again now." SAN SIRO STAGEFRIGHT? Atletico will be relieved goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will play after a recent dip while the Belgium goalie was sidelined by injury. Courtois has been instrumental in helping Atletico share the lead in the Spanish league and for finishing the league group stage undefeated. The first leg away will not daunt Atletico, their goalkeeper insists. "We wont be intimidated by (the San Siro). Weve already managed good results at difficult stadiums such as Sevilla, or Bilbao," Courtois said. "We also went into the group stage with little experience and succeeded. If we maintain the same intensity as we have in the league all season we shouldnt have any problems." Courtois expects his teammates to keep Mario Balotelli from breaking out: "Im not sure how well defend against him, Im sure the coach knows, however." ATLETICOS TWO DIEGOS: While David Villa has returned from injury to be available, Atletico will be leaning on a pair of Brazilian Diegos at San Siro. Striker Diego Costa and midfielder Diego Ribas are expected to be key players. Diego Costa recovered his scoring touch in a 3-0 win over Valladolid on Saturday, while Diego Ribas is showing the form of two seasons ago when he helped Atletico win the Europa League. "I like important games like this. Atletico is a big club and we should be playing these types of games," Diego Costa said. "They certainly motivate you, so going to play at the San Siro will be memorable. We can get a result there." SIMEONES MILAN LINK: Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone knows San Siro well. He spent two seasons there as a player with Inter Milan from 1997-99. In that period Inter drew three times against Milan in the league, winning once. It also suffered a hefty 5-0 defeat in the Italian Cup. Also, Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati spent the 2007-08 season on loan at Atletico. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys china cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

MONTREAL -- Striker Jack McInerney cant imagine a better feeling than scoring against his former club. McInerney will face his former Philadelphia teammates for just the second time when the last-place Montreal Impact visits the Union at PPL Park on Saturday. "This is definitely a big game," McInerney said Thursday. "Its exciting. "There are still a lot of games left in the league where we can pick up points. We have to go in and get the three points if we want to make ourselves known in the league." After a successful 95-game career with the Union, the 22-year-old was traded to the Impact in April, four games into the 14 Major League Soccer season. McInerney has scored nine goals in all competitions for the Impact, including three in the Amway Canadian Championship. In his first game against the Union just two weeks after the trade, McInerney was kept off the scoresheet in Montreals 1-0 victory. "He needs to make his mark on the game," goalkeeper Troy Perkins said of the striker known as Jack Mac. "We want him to feel that hes an important player here. "He has to go over there with a chip on his shoulder to that stadium and show those people wrong." All signs point to McInerney starting against the Union. In Montreals midweek CONCACAF Champions League victory over El Salvadors C.D. FAS, McInerney was an unused substitute as manager Frank Klopas kept striker Marco Di Vaio on the pitch for the entire match. The Impact (3-13-5) is looking to build on that 1-0 defeat of FAS on Tuesday, the teams first win in five weeks. Montreal, last in the MLS Eastern Conference with just 14 points from 21 games, is on a six-game losing streak in the league. "We have to remain on a high," said Impact defender Hassoun Camara after Tuesdays win. "Thats the only way our play will build and develop. "We need to grow, even when its hard to do. When were hurting, its tough to perform technically. We might be stronger technically than some other MLS teams, but we need to start with a better desire to win." Added captain Patrice Bernier after the nail-biting victory: "Confidence will come one day at a time. We have to build on our win. We simply have to focus on the positives. Those positives will give us energy. When you lose, you remove all that good energy. Its all mental." The Union (5-8-9), undefeated in its last four MLS matches, has made a few personnel changes since McInerney was sent north of the border for forward Andrew Wenger. In June, after a 3-7-6 start to the season, Philadelphia fired manager John Hackworth and appointed Jim Curtin as interim coach. Since Hackworths dismissal, the seventh-place Union has gone 2-1-3 and is making a legitimate push for a playoff spot. On Wednesday, Philadelphia signed Algerian international goalkeeper Rais Mbolhi, who may make his MLS debut versus the Impact. Once match fit, Mbolhi will replace Phillys Zac MacMath as the starter. And at the start of this week, just before the end of the MLS transfer window, defender Carlos Valdes signed a multi-year deal with Philadelphia. The Colombian international returns to the Union after a year-and-a-half absence that included loan spells in his native country and Argentina. Up front against the Impact, Philadelphia will look to goalscorers Sebastien LeToux and Connor Casey, who both have two goals in their last four games. "Theyre going to come out and theyre going to high press us from the beginning," said Perkins, who will likely be in net after backup goalie Evan Bush earned the clean sheet in the Champions League on Tuesday. "Its their house, they want three points to move up in the standings but we want three points as well, just to close the gap. "Its a team thats fighting right now. They dont have the best quality, but they fight and compete. And thats where we have to match them. We have to let our quality take over. This team is big, strong, athletic, and we have to match that." Montreal will also need to regain its scoring touch, having scored just five times over its six-game losing streak with none coming from McInerney. Since joining MLS, the Impact has had success against the Union. After losing the inaugural encounter in 2012, Montreal has since beaten Philadelphia four times in six games (4-0-2) but hasnt won on the road this season. NOTES Midfielder Justin Mapp made 44 career appearances for the Union between 2010 and 2011. à Camara wont play against Philadelphia due to a one-game suspension for accumulating too many yellow cards. à Marco Di Vaio has scored five career goals against Philadelphia. à Cristian Maidana (hamstring), who leads the Union with eight assists, is questionable for Saturdays matchup. à This will be the third and final meeting between the Impact and Union this season. à Montreals next five opponents are Eastern Conference teams in a tight playoff race. à The Union takes on FC Dallas in the U.S. Open Cup semifinal Tuesday. The Washington Wizards, pushing for their first playoff berth since 2008, acquired disgruntled point guard Andre Miller from the Denver Nuggets on Thursday in a three-way trade that also involves the Philadelphia 76ers. The Wizards gave up two seldom-used players — forward Jan Vesely and point guard Eric Maynor. Vesely goes to the Nuggets, while Maynor gets shipped to the 76ers. Philadelphia receives two second-round draft picks, one from the Wizards in 2015 and one from the Nuggets in 2016. Washington receives a protected 2014 second-round pick from the 76ers. Miller hasnt played since his shouting match with coach Brian Shaw in the waning minutes of a loss to the 76ers on New Years Day. The Nuggets initially suspended Miller for two games, then rescinded the suspension and announced that he would instead be excused from all team activities for personal reasons. "Obviously we did our homework," Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld said. "I think that was an isolated situation, an isolation incident. Were going to move past that." Miller, who turns 38 next month, has played with five teams over 15 NBA seasons. He averaged 5.9 points and 3.3 assists for the Nuggets this season. The Wizards are under pressure from owner Ted Leonsis to end their playoff drought, with both team president Ernie Grunfeld and coach Randy Wittman in the final year of their contracts. Washington is currently fifth in the watered-down Eastern Conference, but the team has lost five of seven to fall two games under .500. "Our goal was all along to make the playoffs," Grunfeld said. "Weve put ourselves in a position where were right there." The Wizards will be counting on Miller to add depth to a rotation that has been shrinking during the season, with Wittman asking more from All-Star John Wall and other starters while relying less on the bench. Maynor, acquired last summer to be Walls backup, has disappeared almost entirely, having played just seven minutes in the last 27 games. Vesely has been a major disappointment since being selected with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2011 draft. He has played in 33 games this season, and only five of the last 14, while averaging 3.2 points. Grunfeld said Vesely didnt develop quickly enough into the player the Wizards were expecting. "He wasnt consistent enough for us," Grunfeld said. Wholesale Jerseys . This week they discuss their best of the year. Bruce Arthur, National Post: My thumb is up to the end of the NHL lockout. The Florida State quarterback became the second straight freshman to win the Heisman on Saturday night, earning college footballs most prestigious individual award with a performance so spectacular and dominant that even a criminal investigation couldnt derail his candidacy. "I cannot explain the feeling that I have inside right now," Winston said. "Im so overwhelmed. Its awesome." When his name was announced, he popped from his seat and quickly made his way to his mom and dad for hugs and kisses. He smiled and laughed through most of his acceptance speech, but got a little choked up when he talked about his parents. "When you see your mom and your dad and theyve been struggling through this whole process it was nice to see a smile on their faces," he said. Winston received 668 first-place votes and 2,205 points. He finished 1,501 points ahead of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron for the seventh-largest margin of victory in Heisman history, despite being left off 115 of the 900 ballots that were returned. Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch was third, followed by Boston Colleges Andre Williams, Texas A&Ms Johnny Manziel and Auburns Tre Mason. Manziel was the first freshman to win the Heisman, and was trying to join Ohio States Archie Griffin as a two-time winner. Instead, Winston made it two freshman winners in the 79-year history of the Heisman. He also became the youngest winner at 23 days short of 20. The 19-year-old also was investigated last month for a year-old sexual assault complaint, but no charges were filed and the case was closed four days before Heisman votes were due. "People trusted me and saw us play," Winston said. Winston is the nations top-rated passer and has led the top-ranked Seminoles to a spot in the BCS championship game against No. 2 Auburn on Jan. 6, his birthday. The former five-star recruit from Bessemer, Ala., made college football look easy from his very first game. On Labor Day night, on national television, Winston went 25 for 27 for 356 yards and four touchdowns in a victory at Pittsburgh. It was a brilliant debut that lived up to the off-season hype, when Winston wowed Florida State fans in the Seminoles spring football game and on the baseball diamond as a hard-throwing reliever and clutch-hitting outfielder. He had already earned the nickname Famous Jameis before he ever played a college football game. And he quickly became one of the most beloved Seminoles since Charlie Ward, the 1993 Heisman winner. Winston is the third Seminoles quarterback to win the award, along with Chris Weinke in 2000. Winston and Florida State were cruising toward an undefeated seeason when news broke of an unresolved sexual assault complaint against him made to the Tallahassee Police Department last December.dddddddddddd The dormant case was handed over to the state attorneys office for a full investigation. A female student at Florida State accused Winston of rape. Winstons attorney said the sex was consensual. During three weeks of uncertainty, Winston continued to play sensationally, especially in Florida States big games against Clemson and Miami, while other contenders stumbled or failed to distinguish themselves. If voters were looking to Manziel or McCarron or Lynch or Williams or even Marcus Mariota of Oregon to give them a good alternative to Winston, it didnt happen. Mason made a late surge and ended up in New York because of the lack of serious challengers to Winston. The Heisman Trust mission statement says: "The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity." Its a statement that has put the Heisman in awkward situations before. In 2010, Cam Newton played the season under the cloud of an NCAA investigation. He had also had legal troubles while in college. But like Winston, there was no doubt he was the best player and he won the award. Before last season, Manziel was arrested after being involved in a fight and providing police fake ID. It didnt stop Johnny Football from winning the Heisman. Johnny Rodgers, the 1972 winner from Nebraska, pleaded guilty to a felony after helping to hold up a gas station as a freshman in 1970. He was pardoned earlier this year. Reggie Bush had his 2005 Heisman stripped after the NCAA determined he had violated its rules during that season. But the Heisman trust did not ask Billy Cannon and O.J. Simpson to return their Heismans after serving jail time. The accusations against Winston were serious and documents released by the police with the accusers allegations were not flattering to him. It probably explains why so many voters left him out of their top three. Last year Manziel appeared on 92 per cent of the ballots. Winston appeared on 87 per cent this year. There was no doubting his on-the-field credentials. Winston is on pace (190.1) to break Russell Wilsons record for best passer efficiency rating in a season and set FBS freshman records for yards passing (3,820) and touchdown passes (3. Florida States average margin of victory is 42 points, and Winston has spent most of the Seminoles fourth quarters resting. The investigation has taken some of the shine off Winstons Heisman coronation, at least for some. But if the question is simply who was college footballs best player in 2013, Famous Jameis was the clear answer. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys china cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay running back Eddie Lacy was limited in practice Wednesday after bruising his hip in the Packers victory this week over Atlanta.Coach Mike McCarthy said he would monitor Lacy on the practice field Thursday. McCarthy has also said that he doesnt have high concern about the injury to the 2013 Offensive Rookie of the Year.Lacy has 843 yards and seven touchdowns on 188 carries. He has also turned into playmaking threat in the passing game this year with 385 yards and four scores on 36 receptions. On defence, cornerback Davon House missed practice with a right shoulder injury after getting hurt breaking up a pass in the end zone intended for Atlanta receiver Julio Jones in Monday nights 43-37 win.House has played well this year as one of the backups for starters Tramon Williams and Sam Shields in the deep Packers secondary.Jones knee apparently collided with the back of Houses right shoulder on the play in the end zone. Up to that point, House had had a little more success in limiting Jones, who finished with a career-best 259 yards on 11 catches. Its really all up in the air right now, House said. Well see what happens when we get these tests back and go from there.House was in the game for Shields, who was active after being cleared to play Monday following a concussion that kept him from practice the previous week. McCarthy has said it was part of a planned rotation in the game with Williams, Shields, House and another reserve cornerback, Casey Hayward.Shields, who signed a four-year, $39 million contract extension in the off-season, said the coaches were being cautious following his concussion.Yeah, yeah. I needed a couple reps. That probably wouldve helped out. It happens. I was in there, I got back on the field (and) that was the most important part, Shields said. Im getting reps this week and Ill be ready for Buffalo.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Trent Richardson Jersey . Both Lawrie and his manager agree it isnt preferable. What it is: a consequence of a game played without the designated hitter. "Im a third baseman," said Lawrie.WASHINGTON -- Atlanta Braves left fielder Justin Upton saw the baseball nestle underneath some green wall padding and initially, instead of trying to make a play, threw his arms up and waited for a call from the umpires. All the while, Washingtons Ian Desmond kept running, making it all the way around the bases for an inside-the-park homer, apparently tying the game in the fifth inning. Hold on, though. This is a new era in the majors, where all sorts of plays can be reviewed and changed. So Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez challenged the non-call, and Desmonds home run was switched to a ground-rule double after a five-minute delay. Desmond then got caught stealing, capping a significant sequence Friday in Atlantas 2-1 victory over Washington. "These umpires, theyre good enough," Upton said. "But sometimes they need a little bit of help." The result spoiled the Nationals home opener and gave rookie manager Matt Williams his first loss following a 3-0 start. Williams did not agree with the way the review went, pointing out that Upton did eventually grab the ball and heave it toward the infield. "One of the reasons we have replay is to make sure that we get the calls right. I have a question with that one, though, because of what happened after the fact," Williams said. "The fact that when he had to, he reached down and threw it in." Upton said he paused while hoping for an umpire to say the play was dead, but eventually did go get the baseball because shortstop Andrelton Simmons "was panicking, telling me to throw the ball." Added Upton: "I made the play a little more confusing than it should have been." Some in the sellout crowd of 42,834 chanted "Home run! Home run!" during the review delay. And after the homer was overturned, fans booed Upton whenever he was involved in the action, whether he was catching a flyout or stepping into the batters box. Desmond, meanwhile, was determined to run until someone told him to stop. "With the replay stuff the way it is now, not going to leave anything to doubt," he said.dddddddddddd As for this seasons expanded replay, Desmond said: "Everyones trying to figure it out." Desmond chided himself more for the subsequent running gaffe. It was one of a series of problems for Washington on the basepaths: Bryce Harper got caught because of a pitchout on a steal attempt, and Adam LaRoche was thrown out at the plate by Simmons on a relay. "We need to put pressure on the other team, as long as its intelligent," Washingtons Ryan Zimmerman said. "You dont want to run into outs." Washington did eventually even the score, but Atlantas Chris Johnson delivered a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the eighth off reliever Tyler Clippard (0-1). Luis Avilan (1-0) got one out in the seventh for the win, and Craig Kimbrel earned his third save with a 1-2-3 ninth. In the eighth, Atlantas fourth reliever, David Carpenter, put two runners on with no outs. But he came back to strike out Washingtons 4-5-6 hitters, LaRoche, Zimmerman and Harper. "We had him where wanted him ... and just couldnt get the hit when we needed to," Zimmerman said. Atlantas first run came on Evan Gattis homer leading off the fifth against Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann, who was scratched Thursday because of a fever and upset stomach. A 19-game winner last year, Zimmermann allowed one run and four hits in five innings while striking out nine. Atlanta right-hander David Hale threw five scoreless innings in his third career start. In 2013, Atlanta went 13-6 against Washington in 2013 en route to replacing the Nationals as NL East champions. "Last year is last year. You get a nice pat on the back and its over with," Gonzalez said. "We play them six series. Every series is important. It doesnt matter if you play them in April of September." The Ducks season was marked by a fortunate shooting percentage, leading the league at 9.8% during 5-on-5 play, and thats the kind of thing that doesnt tend to sustain year-over-year, but the Ducks have a roster that is still poised to be competitive going forward. They have a lot of young players on the way up, including goaltenders Gibson and Frederik Andersen and defencemen Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanen. Many of their forwards, aside from Getzlaf and Perry, are in their early-to-mid-20s, so they may be able to improve enough to at least somewhat offset the likely statistical regression. The Kings meeting the Blackhawks in the Western Conference Final pits the leagues top two puck possession teams against each other and that ought to make for a competitive series; more competitive than last year when the Blackhawks ousted the Kings in five games. WACO, Texas -- Turn out the lights, the fiesta is just getting started for No. 9 Baylor. These Bears are headed to a BCS game as the Big 12 champion, making a reality out of the goal that seemed so far out of reach when Art Briles became their coach six years ago. "Thats what hit me," quarterback Bryce Petty said. "This is where it is, this is where that vision was." In what became a de facto Big 12 championship game after Oklahoma States loss, Petty threw for 287 yards with touchdown passes on the first drives after halftime and the Bears beat No. 23 Texas 30-10 on Saturday in the final game at Floyd Casey Stadium after 64 seasons. "Its a defining moment for our program," Briles said, adding he hopes they can repeat it multiple times. "We always believed with him," big offensive guard Cyril Richardson said. "We werent going to disappoint him." The Bears (11-1, 8-1 Big 12), who never even had a winning record in the Big 12 before Briles arrived, have the first 11-win season in school history and are headed to the Fiesta Bowl. That is the reward for their first outright title in any league since winning the Southwest Conference on 1980 when Mike Singletary called Floyd Casey Stadium home. Antwan Goodley made a nifty one-handed grab on a slant pass for an 11-yard TD, one play after Petty overthrew his wide-open tight end at the goal line. After Texas (8-4, 7-2) went three-and-out, Lache Seastrunk had three consecutive runs for 28 yards and Glasco Martin ran 10 yards to help set up Pettys 6-yard TD pass to Levi Norwood and a 17-3 lead. Texas coach Mack Brown made joking references all week about being the only coach in America playing for a conference championship while also shrugging off speculation that he could be replaced. Well, the intense speculation about Browns future is certain to increase now. The regular season is over for the Longhorns without a Big 12 title after losing two of three games -- just like the year started before a six-game winning streak. "Im disappointed in the loss, obviously," said Brown, who didnt want to talk about his future. " I told them they played hard enough, played tough enough, but we didnt make the plays we needed to make. " Norwood came to the postgame interview wearing a cap that read "RIP Floyd Casey," and said it was hard to put into words what the final game in the stadium and the Big 12 championship meant. Ahmad Dixon, the senior safety who grew up in Waco, placed in front of the podium a sign declaring the Bears Big 12 champion. He then told everyone to hold their questions, then reached down and pulled out two bags of Tostitos, the sponsor of the Fiesta Bowl. "What does this mean to me?" Dixon said repeating a question, hold up the sign as an answer. "Thats about is. ... It was all just a dream, and that dream just became a reality." Petty finished 21 of 37, with Goodley catching eight of those for 114 yards. Martin rushed for 102 yards with 18-yard TD run in the fourth quarter, one play after officials wiped out K.J. Mortons touchdown on a 60-yard interception return when he was penalized for celebrating before getting into the end zone. Malcolm Brown ran 25 times for 131 yards for the Longhorns. Case McCoy completed only 12 of 34 passes for 54 yards, two interceptions and a touchdown. The score was a 2-yarder to Brown while scrambling on fourth down after the Longhorns took a field goal off the board after a Baylor penalty on the made kick. About the same time the coin toss was happening at midfield in Waco, No. 18 Oklahoma was wrapping up its 33-24 over No. 6 Oklahoma State (10-2, 7-2), which with convincing victories over both Baylor and Texas last month was in the position to win the Big 12s guaranteed BCS berth. Before moving next year into a new $260 million stadium on campus, along busy Interstate 35 and the Brazos River, Baylor had a memorable finish in the final game after 64 seasons at Floyd Casey. Fans in black, green or gold didnt even seem to mind the bitter cold -- the temperature was 24 degrees at kickoff with the wind chill making it feel much colder. And most stayed around to share in the celebration and a stadium closing ceremony, chanting "Big 12 champs!" and "BCS!" That ceremony ended with representatives from different eras in Baylor history turning over one of the eight light standards in the stadium. The last was Briles. "It was emotional for everybody," Norwood said. "Everybody knew it was there, whether it was outright or a share. We wanted to be Big 12 champs." Nike Air Max 90 VT Baratas . The second-ranked Serb has been practicing hard as he prepares for this weeks Italian Open and the French Open, which starts in two weeks. "Right now I feel much more confident at the state of my wrist and I know that Im ready much more to play a match than I was one week ago," Djokovic said Sunday after attracting thousands of spectators to a practice session with Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka on the Foro Italicos spectacular Pietrangeli court, which is lined with neo-classical statues. When Djokovic lost to Roger Federer in the Monte Carlo Masters semifinals last month, his wrist was heavily strapped and he was unable to serve or return at his usual level. "Its a wiser decision if you try to heal it 100 per cent than 50 per cent and compromise the next weeks," Djokovic said. The last thing Djokovic wanted to risk was a recurrence, citing wrist problems that have affecteed fellow players Juan Martin del Potro and Nikolay Davydenko "The second time that it comes back it becomes a chronic injury, which you definitely dont want to have," he said.dddddddddddd "From now on I will be extra careful about my wrist." Djokovic opens in Rome against Czech veteran Radek Stepanek and hes hoping to have both of his head coaches in place this week -- long-time adviser Marian Vajda and six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker, who joined his staff in December. "Boris is here. And were trying to see if we can get Marian here, because theyre both going to be present in Paris," Djokovic said, adding that Vajda is spending more time with his family and two tennis-playing daughters lately. "(Vajda) understands and knows me really well and he can help Boris to get more efficient in that transition to co-operating well with me on the court," Djokovic said. "Thats why Im trying to get them to be together." MONTREAL -- The latest chapter in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers storybook start to the CFL season featured last-minute, come-from-behind heroics from local boy Julian Feoli-Gudino. Winnipeg trailed by five points in the final minute when quarterback Drew Willy completed a 13-play, 75-yard drive with Feoli-Gudinos 18-yard touchdown catch on third down to lift the Bombers to a 34-33 victory over the Montreal Alouettes on Friday night. The Blue Bombers went 3-15 last season, but are 3-0 to start the 2014 campaign under rookie head coach Mike OShea and Willy, who is in his first season as a starter. "Third down, in my hometown, it was amazing," said Feoli-Gudina. "It was a good team effort. I just had to make a play at the end." He grew up playing football for the Sun Youth Organization at Jeanne-Mance Park, a five-minute walk from the Alouettes home stadium, where he watched a lot of CFL games. So the former Toronto Argonaut, who joined the Bombers this season, was delighted to get a dramatic, game-winning grab with 29 seconds left before about 30 family and friends in the seats at Percival Molson Stadium. "Its pretty sweet," Feoli-Gudino said. "I had a diagonal. It was man coverage. I went inside and Drew put it right on the money." Backup quarterback Robert Marve had a touchdown and the Winnipeg defence got one from linebacker Desia Dunn and another from defensive back Chris Randle. Lirim Hajrullahu booted three field goals for the Bombers, who played their first road game after a pair of wins at home. Troy Smith threw his first three touchdown passes of the season to Chad (Ochocinco) Johnson, Kenny Stafford and S.J. Green for Montreal. It was the first career CFL touchdown for former NFL star Johnson. The Alouettes (1-2) also had four field goals from Sean Whyte. It was a long, grinding game slowed by 33 penalties to both teams for 328 yards and a pair of time-consuming challenges each from OShea and Montreal coach Tom Higgins. The last-minute TD marked the sixth lead change in the game. But while Montreal led 385-274 in total offence and in time of possession at 33:22, it went down to the wire when Montreal had to settle for a field goal after Demond Washingtons second fumble of a punt in the game. That left the Bombers needing a touchdown to win with 2:18 left to play. The final drive was aided by a pass interference call and a pair of third-down conversions, but Willy pulled it out in the end. "That last drive was pretty exciting," said Willy, who spent the last two seasons as Darian Durants backup in Saskatchewan. "Ive been in some crazy games before but to make a touchdown on third and 10 in a tough place to play like this, it was fun to be part of." It was a heartbreaker for Montreal, which saw Smith have his best game since taking over as the starter this season. He completed 18 of 32 passes for 309 yards, and for the first time looked to have found his range on longer throws downfield. But he also had a pass picked off by Randle when Montreal held an eight-point lead early in the fourth quarter. "Turnovers are costly, particularly when you turn them into touchdowns," said Higgins. "We got that turnover on a punt and it would have been nice if we got a touchdown there. "Then were breathing differently. But thats the reality of it. We are exactly where were at: slowly but surely getting better, but obviously not good enough to beat Winnipeg tonight." The Bombers got a 16-yard Hajrullahu boot on their first drive, but Montreal answered with a six-play drive capped by a 46-yard TD pass to Johnson. Ochocinco is known for hugging people he meets, and thats what he did to the nearest official after the score. Winnipeg looked to be stopped twice on their next drive, but a roughing call and a review of Jeff Tisdales hold on Clarence Denmark produced a pass interference call in the end zone that set up Marves one-yard TD 8:56 into the game. Whyte tied it with a 25-yard kick to open the second quarter . Winnipeg gave up the ball on downs on their own 32, but Jason Vega then stripped the ball from Troy Smith and Dunn ran it 70 yards to score at 10:41. However, the convert attempt was blocked by Alan-Michael Cash. Whyte and Hajrullahu traded field goals late for a 19-13 Winnipeg halftime lead. Montreal opened the second half with Smiths 49-yard TD pass to a wide open Stafford to take a one-point lead. Willy answered with a 49-yard toss to Nic Moore to set up Hajrullahus third field goal of the game, only to see Washington fumble a punt to set up a Whyte 37-yarder to put Montreal back in front. Early in the fourth quarter, Smith found Green in the end zone for a five-yard TD, but the Winnipeg defence struck back when Randle picked off a pass and ran it in from 28 yards. The two-point conversion attempt that would have tied the game failed. Whyte added a 23-yard boot for a five-point lead with 2:18 left in the game. Then came the winning drive that has Winnipeg off to its best start since 2003. "It looks like were all starting to believe in it," said OShea. "We played a tough defence tonight. We pulled out a win in the dying moments, which is a great CFL game in terms of back and forth. Its good for the fans and the league." Among the crowd of 20,384 was Marc Trestman, who won two Grey Cups with Montreal before he was hired last season as head coach of the Chicago Bears. Trestman got a warm ovation as he was honoured in a half-time ceremony. Chip Cox had six tackles and passed Kelly Wiltshires to take over 10th place all-time in career tackles with 613. The career leader is Willie Pless with 1,207. The Bombers are back home Thursday to face Edmonton, while Montreal travels to B.C. on July 19 for their second meeting with the Lions in three weeks. Bradys 367 yards and three touchdowns, the last a go-ahead 23-yard strike to Brandon LaFell with 5;13 remaining, rallied the New England Patriots to a 35-31 AFC Divisional Playoff victory over Harbaughs Ravens at Gillette Stadium. The fourth postseason meeting between the teams in six years was another classic, with the Patriots twice battlingg back from 14 points down -- including a 28-14 deficit midway through the third quarter -- and not taking their first lead until Bradys final TD delivery of the day.dddddddddddd New England also overcome a career postseason-best four touchdown throws from Flacco, though his second interception of the game virtually ended Baltimores own comeback hopes with 1:39 left to play. FINDING GOOD GUYS: All eyes

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- One day after Kyle Okposo was left off the U.S. Olympic team, the New York Islanders forward added another clip to his highlight reel. Okposo scored 58 seconds into overtime to lift the Islanders to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night after they blew a two-goal lead to the Stanley Cup champions. Barring injuries to others, Okposo will likely be home during the Sochi Olympics. Yet he didnt hang his head after being passed over. "Youre giving me chills right now," Okposo said during an on-ice interview as the Nassau Coliseum crowd chanted "U-S-A! U-S-A!" "Sometimes you get tough bounces in life," Okposo added. "You dont always achieve your goals. Tonight I thought I left everything out there." Casey Cizikas scored in his 100th NHL game, and Thomas Vanek added a goal for the Islanders. Defenceman Andrew MacDonald had two assists, and Evgeni Nabokov made 37 saves. Okposo ended it with his 16th goal. "He was probably a little disappointed," Islanders coach Jack Capuano said of the Olympic snub. "He is just excited that we won the game." The Islanders have won three straight, building off a pair of comeback road victories against Minnesota and Boston -- Chicagos opponent in last years Cup finals. "Right now, were competing and were winning some battles we werent winning earlier this season," Capuano said. "With Boston and Chicago, you can see the skill level. We had to be on our toes, we had to be sharp, we had to execute." Brent Seabrook scored in the second period, and Ben Smith early in the third scored to help the Blackhawks rally for a standings point. Patrick Kane was held without a point for the second consecutive game after recording at least one in a career-best 14 straight. Crawford returned from a 10-game injury absence and improved as the game went on, shining after his club got even. He finished with 31 saves and was superb in the third. "The energy was definitely there. I was seeing the puck pretty well," Crawford said. "There were maybe some rebounds I gave up that usually I take care of but I felt pretty good." The Islanders have a four-game winning streak on the road, but havent had recent success at home. Since their last regulation win at Nassau Coliseum on Nov. 12 against Nashville, the Islanders are just 2-5-4 there. "I definitely hope something is brewing," Nabokov said. "We have to stick with the moment and our game plan. The defence did a great job clearing rebounds. That was the key. "We have put three together," Nabokov said. "Now we have to for the fourth one." Chicago is 8-1-3 in its last 12 games. "They attacked," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "They have some quickness and speed and they make plays. It was nice to get it to overtime, but it didnt last very long." Several inches of snow piled up in the parking lot and on cars during the game. The Islanders offered all ticket-holders, whether they came to the game or not, the opportunity to exchange tickets for any weekday home game this season. Also, hot dogs and sodas were discounted to $2. Though the crowd thinned after the second period, many seats were filled despite the ominous forecast that called for upward of 10 inches of snow by Friday. Many of the 13,618 in attendance were decked out in Blackhawks red, but when cheers of "Lets Go Hawks!" went up, they were met with boos and counter calls of "Lets Go Islanders!" Smiths tying goal 1:50 into the third elicited a loud celebratory cheer that wasnt answered by home team supporters. After a turnover in the Islanders end, Patrick Sharp brought the puck from behind the net and tried to jam it in. A scramble in the crease ensued, and Smith poked in his fifth of the season. Cizikas made a quick impact in the first period when he knocked the puck free from Blackhawks forward Bryan Bickell and then beat Bickell to the loose puck at the Chicago blue line. Cizikas corralled the puck, skated in alone on Crawford and scored his fifth of the season with 4:36 left in the period after shifting from backhand to forehand. Outside of that, the Blackhawks had the better of the play in the opening frame, holding a 12-5 edge in shots. The Islanders doubled their lead 8:09 into the second when Vanek netted his 14th goal with a backhander in front off a rebound of MacDonalds shot. New York took the first penalty of the game when Matt Carkner was sent off for tripping with 2:34 remaining in the second, and Chicagos potent power play took advantage. Kris Versteeg sent a crisp, cross-zone pass to the left circle to Seabrook, who ripped a one-timer as he crouched to a knee past Nabokov for his fifth of the season with 1:24 left in the period. Sharp took the Blackhawks first penalty, cross-checking with 24.5 seconds to go in the second. The Islanders started the third with 1:36 left on the advantage but couldnt convert. Gerald McCoy Youth Jersey .Y. -- Canadas Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse have another World Cup gold medal after winning the two-women bobsled race on Saturday in Lake Placid, N.SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The way things have gone for the San Francisco 49ers recently with issues off the field, general manager Trent Baalke finds himself being questioned about the importance of drafting for character. The Niners top three selections from the 2011 draft have been involved in off-the-field situations in recent weeks, resulting in a negative hit for the teams image. Most notably, star linebacker Aldon Smith was arrested at an airport last month and authorities say he used the word "bomb." Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was linked to a Miami police report involving a woman who passed out in a hotel and later woke up in a hospital not knowing how she got there. Kaepernick has strongly denied any wrongdoing. Cornerback Chris Culliver -- who made anti-gay remarks before the 2013 Super Bowl -- has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanour hit-and-run charges and felony possession of brass knuckles from a March 28 arrest. "Its a risk-reward business," Baalke said. "And we try to take chances -- calculated chances -- and it has worked in a lot of cases. There are other times when the character of an individual coming into the NFL was sterling. But they end up being guys who get in trouble. "Its not always the guys that come into the league with a checkered past that leave the league with a checkered past. It can be the opposite. And if anybody in here has the answer about who is going to end up doing what, give it to me. I could use it." Here are five things to watch for in the draft for the 49ers, who pick 30th: FRONT-OFFICE TEAMMWORK: For anybody wondering whether Baalke and coach Jim Harbaugh will be duking it out in the draft room about which player to take, the GM says enough already. He insists the issue has been "misrepresented" since news broke that the Browns tried to trade for Harbaugh after San Franciscos loss in the NFC championship game. "To say that its always two rams butting heads is so false and misleading. To say theres no tension would also be false and misleading. Its good tension, its creative tension. It couldnt be better," Baalke said. "I feel good about where were at. If you want us to hug and mug for the cameras and do all that, youre looking at the wrong two guys." TRADING UP: Dont put itt past this team to move up the board.dddddddddddd And Baalke just might look to make a splash with a player who could have an immediate impact for the Niners as they begin a new era at Levis Stadium next to team headquarters. He has done so before. "A lot of its spontaneous, happening as the drafts unfolding," Baalke said. DEPTH AT LINEBACKER: San Francisco will be without All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman for a while as he recovers from torn ligaments in his left knee sustained in the post-season loss to the Seahawks. Baalke knows Smith could face a suspension from the NFL, too. The 49ers went 5-0 during Smiths five-week stint in rehab for substance abuse last season following his DUI arrest. While Dan Skuta and rookie Corey Lemonier emerged as solid replacements for Smiths pass-rushing presence on the edge, San Francisco is expected to search for depth at linebacker. Michael Wilhoite also became a reliable reinforcement, and Baalke says the team is "very confident in being able to replace guys when they go down." "We saw it in play last year," Baalke said. "Sometimes when you lose a player, you cant replace him with just one. Sometimes it takes multiple people, it takes other people stepping up to the challenge." THE CORNERBACK NEED: Carlos Rogers and Tarell Brown joined the Raiders on the other side of the bay. With Culliver working to come back from a serious knee injury, drafting a cornerback will be a top priority to complement Tramaine Brock. FINDING GOOD GUYS: All eyes will be on Baalke, who has a successful run of draft picks who have produced right away, including first-rounders Anthony Davis, Mike Iupati and Eric Reid. But now, at least some fans will be counting more than ever on the 49ers finding just the right player. Baalke points to the locker room and roster as a whole, because only a few are affecting the franchises reputation. "We just have to do a better job. And thats the mentality of this group and thats the mentality of this ownership. To think that we dont care? I take offence to classless or lawless, because thats far from the truth," Baalke said. "Respect the masses because the masses are doing it right, and well get the other things fixed." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys china cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

CLEVELAND -- With wads of money to spend, the Cleveland Browns didnt waste any time shoving millions into two defensive holes they created this winter. During the furious first few hours of free agency Tuesday, the team agreed to terms with strong safety Donte Whitner, a Cleveland native who cant wait to play in his hometown. "I must now embark on my intended journey and become a Cleveland Brown," Whitner wrote on his Twitter account. "A place thats very dear to my heart!" Also, the Browns reportedly struck a deal with inside linebacker Karlos Dansby, who resurrected his career last season in his second stint with Arizona. The team has not made any announcements. With $49 million of space under the salary cap to sign players, new Cleveland general manager Ray Farmer addressed two pressing needs after the club decided not to re-sign safety T.J. Ward or linebacker DQwell Jackson -- the Browns top tacklers last season and two of their best players. Whitners deal is reportedly worth $28 million over four years, and Dansbys is for $24 million -- $14 million guaranteed -- over four years. Farmer could be working on a blockbuster deal, with the Browns said to be interested in trading with Tampa Bay for shutdown cornerback Darrelle Revis. If they can land Revis and pair him with Pro Bowler Joe Haden, the Browns would have arguably the NFLs best tandem of cornerbacks. The Buccaneers are eager to part with Revis, who makes $16 million a year. Revis has a previous relationship with Browns coach Mike Pettine, who coached him in New York. The Browns didnt ignore their offence on the first day of free agency, signing Cincinnati wide receiver Andrew Hawkins, a restricted free agent, to an offer sheet. The Bengals have five days to match the contract or Hawkins will join the Browns, who need a replacement at slot receiver after releasing troubled veteran Davone Bess. A two-time Pro Bowler, Whitner is returning to Cleveland to help turn around a franchise he pulled for as a kid. As word of his signing leaked out shortly after 4 p.m., Whitner, who played at Ohio State before he was drafted by Buffalo, tweeted "O-H" in a nod to both his alma mater and home state. After playing 14 seasons in Cleveland, 49ers kicker Phil Dawson can appreciate Whitners excitement about the homecoming. "If most guys are honest, they have a soft spot in their hearts for their hometown, and obviously Dontes getting to go home," Dawson said on a conference call after receiving a new two-year deal with San Francisco. "One thing I know about Cleveland is when you grow up there, you wear orange and brown. No matter where you go or how far youve been gone, if youve grown up in Cleveland, youre a Browns fan. "Im sure its a special opportunity for Donte. Obviously were going to miss him. Hes a great player. Hell be a huge addition to that organization." Whitner spent five seasons with the Bills, who selected him with the No. 8 overall pick in 2006. Nicknamed "Hitner," the 28-year-old signed a three-year, $11.75 million free-agent deal with San Francisco in 2011 and played three seasons with the 49ers, getting to the NFC championship each year. Hes been durable, missing just one game in the past four seasons. Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer, another proud Clevelander, is thrilled to have Whitner as a new teammate. "Great to have another hometown guy here to help us win! Congrats @DonteWhitner!" Hoyer posted on his Twitter account. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Dansby fills the void left by the surprising departure of Jackson, the respected captain and team leader. Dansby, 32, had 122 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks and four interceptions with the Cardinals last season. He spent his first six years with Arizona, signed with Miami for three and then returned to the Cardinals as a free agent in 2013. A speedster who played collegiately at Toledo, Hawkins worked out for Cleveland in 2008 before he signed in the Canadian Football League. The 28-year-old signed with the Bengals in 2011 and had a career-high 51 receptions for 533 yards and four touchdowns in 2012. He was limited to eight games last season because of an ankle injury. He may have nothing to fear. Davis padded his resume by scoring 30 points with eight blocks and seven rebounds and Eric Gordon scored 20, leading the New Orleans Pelicans to a 100-89 win over the puzzling Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night. Davis, one of three No. 1 overall picks on the floor, was dominant from baseline to baseline as the Pelicans won their third straight. With New Orleans hosting next months All-Star weekend, the Pelicans are hoping their second-year star will be added to the Western Conferences squad when reserves are named Thursday night. "Everybody keeps talking about All-Star, and should he be an All-Star," New Orleans coach Monty Williams said. "All you have to do is look at tonight. Show me other bigs who are doing it on both ends like he does every single night." Davis dislocated his left index finger in the final minutes, but got taped up during a timeout and stayed in. New Orleans scored 16 straight points to close the first half and opened a 22-point lead in the third, causing some fans to boo the listless Cavaliers, who followed a 3-2 trip out West by going 1-4 on their homestand. Clevelands lone win was against Milwaukee, which has the NBAs worst record. "Our competitive spirit is non-existent," said Cavs coach Mike Brown. "Maybe I need to shake some things up." Kyrie Irving scored 23 and Dion Waiters 21 for Cleveland. Rookie Anthony Bennett, the first pick in last years draft, scored a season-high 15 and was the lone bright spot for the Cavs. A major disappointment so far, the 6-foot-8 Canadian added eight rebounds and played 31 minutes -- his most action this season. Davis scored 11 points in the third quarter, when he showed off his well-rounded game. He swished a long jumper, dropped a runner, nailed a bank shot and, of course, dunked. Missing Anderson Varejao, who was out with a hyperextended and bruised left knee, the Cavs had no defensive answer for Davis, who was coming off a 22-point, 19-rebound, seven-block performance in a win over Orlando. As the Pelicans were putting the finishing touches on the win, Davis injured his finger and came to the bench in obvious pain. He bent over as a ttrainer worked on his fingers and several of Davis teammates patted him on the back as he was treated.dddddddddddd "He said, tape it up. Im going right back," Williams said. "That to me says more about him than any number or stat that he can put up. His heart and his willingness to do whatever it takes for his team is why hes an All-Star in my opinion." Davis returned to the floor, but didnt have to do much in the final three minutes as the Pelicans had already wrapped up their 10th road victory. Davis said the All-Star talk is not distracting. "Its cool," Davis said. "I hear it, but Im trying to win games. Im trying to get better each and every day. If it happens, Ill be more than grateful and more than excited to be able to play." The Pelicans outscored the Cavs 16-0 over the final 5:25 of the second quarter to open a 56-44 halftime lead. Gordon had six points during the spurt, which included a possession where all five New Orleans touched the ball before Davis dunked. Cleveland, which scored just six points in the third quarter of a loss to Phoenix on Sunday, missed its last nine shots of the period. The Cavs committed three turnovers in the last four minutes and shot only 5 of 20 from the field. Irving said the Cavs have not tuned out Brown, whose second second stint with Cleveland has not gone well to this point. "As a team, we go through stretches where its ups and downs, thats just part of the game," Irving said. "I leave my trust with coach Brown, Im riding with him. Whatever he says and whatever he needs me to do, Im going to go out there and do. Im pretty sure all of my teammates feel the same way and thats where that rests. Anything he needs us to do, Im willing to do and I know my teammates do as well." Notes: Clevelands Luol Deng scored just six points. Hes been slowed by a sore Achilles. ... The No. 34 banner representing former Cavs guard Austin Carrs retired number was mysteriously missing from its usual place hanging from the arenas rafters. The Cavs are investigating the disappearance. Carr, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1970 draft who played nine seasons for Cleveland, joked, "Maybe Im coming out of retirement." ... Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - John Tavares recorded four goals and Jakub Voracek followed with three scores and three assists, as Team Toews walked away with a 17-12 decision over Team Foligno in the 2015 All-Star Game from Nationwide Arena, the highest-scoring mid-season event in league history. Yeah, Ill take it, Tavares said of his offensive explosion. Yes, its pretty cool. The 2001 event in Denver held the previous mark of 26 combined goals in a 14-12 North American victory over the World, but the new record was set when Jonathan Toews put his own team ahead by a 16-11 count with 5:39 remaining in the contest. Toews and Patrice Bergeron each ended up with a goal and four helpers, with Filip Forsberg, Rick Nash and Tyler Seguin adding two strikes apiece. Corey Crawford -- the last of three goaltenders to give up four goals, stopped 14- of-18 shots in the third period to earn the win. Ryan Johansen from Team Foligno picked up the MVP award, pacing his side with two goals and as many assists. Patrick Kane and Steven Stamkos added two goals and one assist apiece, while Claude Giroux totaled three points on a tally and two helpers. Marc-Andre Fleury took the loss, charged with seven goals on 16 shots in the second period. So proud of our fans for showing the world that hockey is a big deal here in Columbus, said Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno, despite his captaining the losing side on his home rink. It was Brian Elliott in net for the third, and he obliged the winning side by giving up six scores to turn a three-goal deficit into a five-goal loss. Nash scored at 1:29 to make it 12-8, then Kane followed at 2:15 before Tavares and Voracek lit the lamp in a span of 1:17 to put Team Toews ahead by a 14-9 count with 7 1/2 minutes gone in the third. Bobby Ryan pumped one home for Team Foligno at 8:23 before Seguins shot slipped home 63 seconds later. Kane scored again and his team got within four, then Toews finally helped out his side at 14:21 and Forsberg made his contribution for a 17-11 score with 3:20 to play. Brent Burns rounded out the scoring at 18:20. The first period featured 33 shots and eight combined goals, leaving both sides tied at 4-4. Radim Vrbata opened the scoring for Team Toews at 3:09 before Ryan Getzlaf equalized at 6:33 for Team Foligno and Voracek beat Carey Price with a high shot with 9:51 gone to make it 2-1. Hometown selection Johansen tallied just 1:14 later for a tie, but Bergeron put his squad back on top at 12:17. Kevin Shattenkirk and Johansen added markers in a span of 1:36 for a 4-3 game and Tavares finished the period on his lamp-lighter in the final 57 seconds. Obviously feel bad for the goalies with that many goals, Stamkos said. The fans love it, and it looked like they were having fun. It was great to see this city. They had been waiting a couple years for this game. They did it right. Ryan Suter put Toews picks back on top just 24 seconds into the second period, but Giroux struck only eight seconds later for Folignos choices. Seguin followed at 1:22, then Stamkos evened things at 2:27. Nash then opened up a clip of four straight for Team Toews, on a marker with 4:08 played. Forsberg connected at 5:56, Tavares scored again with 8:16 gone to make it 9-6 and Voracek picked up another red light at 9:22 for a four-goal spread. Team Foligno closed out the middle frame with scores by Foligno and Stamkos ahead of Tavares hat-trick tally with one minute left for an 11-8 score. It was a slow period. It felt like forever, Fleury said. I think after 10 minutes, it was six goals in already. I was like, thats a tough one. You want to have some fun, but when youre a goalie, its frustrating when it goes in. I laughed for a few, but a few of them, I cringed a little bit. Game Notes Team Toews also snapped the previous single-game record for goals by one side, eclipsing the 16 scored by the Wales Conference in a 16-6 decision over the Campbell Conference at Montreal in 1993 ... Despite not winning the MVP, Voracek tied Mario Lemieuxs all-time record for points in one All-Star Game, with Lemieux doing it in 1988 at St. Louis and pacing the Wales in a 6-5 overtime triumph against the Campbell ... Tavares joined Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, Vincent Damphousse, Mike Gartner and Dany Heatley as the only players to score at least four goals in a mid-season classic ... Marian Gaborik was the last player to strike three times in an All-Star contest, three years ago ... The last time hat tricks were recorded by two players in an All-Star Game occurred in 1997, when Mark Recchi (East) and Owen Nolan (West) did so ... Roberto Luongo gave up four goals on 17 shots, while Jaroslav Halak allowed the same number on 10 shots for the winning side ... Price stopped 11 shots while Elliott made only nine saves. Dont make the mistake of overlooking the other players around the Big 12s top-scoring freshman. Naadir Tharpe scored 22 points, nine in a go-ahead run before halftime, and the Big 12-leading Jayhawks rebounded from their first league loss with a 69-52 victory at Baylor on Tuesday night. "Weve just got to be a team that its going to be a different guy most every night," Self said. "And (Tharpe) stepped up when we needed him to step up." Early on, there were three ties and nine lead changes. Tharpes short jumper with 3 1/2 minutes left in the half broke a 25-all tie and put the Jayhawks (17-5, 8-1 Big 12) ahead to stay. The tiebreaking shot was Tharpes third basket in a 14-3 spurt over the final 5 minutes of the first half, and he added a 3-pointer with a minute left. He then made another 3 on Kansas opening possession after halftime. Wiggins, a native of Vaughan, Ont., finished 4-of-13 shooting and didnt make his first basket until a half-court shot to beat the buzzer going into halftime for a 35-27 lead. "Well, we ran that play for him at the end of the first half to get him going," Self joked of Wiggins, who finished two points off his season average. "It was big. It gave a great momentum push going into halftime," said Perry Ellis, who had 14 points and 10 rebounds. "It was great that he knocked that down. It got him going." Cory Jefferson had 14 points to lead Baylor (14-8, 2-7), which lost its fourth consecutive game at the Ferrell Center after a 13-game home winning streak. Its the longest home drought since dropping six straight in 2005. The Bears, coming off a win at then-No. 8 Oklahoma State that snapped their overall five-game losing streak, was trying to set up for a final shot before halftime when Kenny Chery threw an errant pass that Wiggins intercepted. "Round 1 is over in the league. We have to do betteer in Round 2," Baylor coach Scott Drew said.dddddddddddd "The good thing is I believe we can win every game, but with the Big 12 being like it is we can lose every game. We have to make sure we play well to have a chance to win." Baylor has never won consecutive games over Top 25 opponents. The Bears shot only 29 per cent from the field (16 of 55) -- Drew, looking for a positive, pointed out they did have assists on all but one of those made baskets. They were outrebounded 45-31. Kansas was coming off an 81-69 loss Saturday at surging Texas. "We just came out there without energy. I felt like even though Texas played that tremendous game out there, we kind of beat ourselves," said Tharpe, who sat the final 10 minutes of that game when had only three points on 1-of-4 shooting. "We didnt come out with any kind of energy, we had nothing. After they made a play, we had nothing coming back. So we knew coming into today in Waco, we had to come out with some fire right away. And thats what we did." In their regular season finale last March, the Jayhawks lost 81-58 at Baylor. They still had a share of their ninth consecutive Big 12 title, but that loss kept them from winning it outright. Baylor was within 49-44 midway through the second half and Wiggins had just shot and missed the rim. But the Bears missed three free throws on the same possession. Then, with Baylor students chanting "Air Ball!, Air Ball!", Wiggins swished a 3-pointer from the right wing. Wiggins scored again on the next possession to push the lead to 54-44, and had the next basket as well with a dunk with 7:49 left. Brady Heslip had 12 points on four 3-pointers, but didnt score again after his last gave Baylor a 22-21 lead with 6:34 left in the first half. "We were just playing him behind his numbers. We were running behind him," Tharpe said of second-half adjustments on Heslip. "We just knew that he got a lot of good looks off in the first half, and we couldnt let that happen again." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys china cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

NYON, Switzerland - UEFA says Greek referee Tasos Sidiropoulos did not show a yellow card to the wrong CSKA Moscow player in Wednesdays Champions League game against Manchester City.Reports of CSKAs 2-1 win suggested Sidiropoulos should have sent off Pontus Wernbloom by showing the Sweden defender a second yellow card for his 77th-minute foul on City forward Sergio Aguero.Instead, Sergei Ignashevich was booked in what was widely reported — including by Man Citys official website — as a case of mistaken identity.UEFA says Sidiropoulos explained in his written match report that Ignashevich was given a yellow card for dissent, and he did not think Wernblooms foul merited a second yellow. The referee, in his first season at Champions League group-stage level, also sent off two Man City players. Switzerland has lost forward Sven Baertschi for the rest of the World Championship after the Calgary Flames prospect suffered a fractured rib during a game on Friday against Russia. Baertschi was hurt in the third period of a 5-0 loss and will be out of action for several weeks. The 21-year-old appeared in 26 games for the Flames this season and 41 with Abbotsford of the AHL. To replace Baertschi, the Swiss added forward Benjamin Pluss, who plays for Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss A league. Uk Nike Air Max 90 Jacquard . They were his team, the only team. Thaddeus Young scored seven of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, Evan Turner added 22 points, and the 76ers hung on for their first road win since Nov. 1, beating the depleted Los Angeles Lakers 111-104 on Sunday night. Spencer Hawes had 19 points and eight rebounds, while Young and Michael Carter-Williams contributed big points down the stretch as the last-place Sixers held on for just their second win in 11 games overall. "You keep hammering the rock, and one day its going to split," Philadelphia coach Brett Brown said. "Tonight it split." The Lakers are a shadow of their traditional selves these days, with Pau Gasol joining Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash on the sidelines for this meeting. That didnt dampen the Sixers enthusiasm after doubling their road win total in the second game of a back-to-back set. Philadelphia had lost 19 of 23 since its unlikely 4-2 start to the season. "Wins from time to time help validate the work that everybody is putting in," Brown said. "If theres such a thing as deserving something, I think they deserved it." Philadelphia went up 104-99 with 1:44 to play on a layup by Young, who added a three-point play on the next possession. Jordan Farmars 3-pointer with 55 seconds left cut the Sixers lead to three points, but Shawne Williams missed an open 3-pointer that could have tied it, and Carter-Williams hit two late free throws to secure Philadelphias second straight road win over the Lakers. "Its definitely a great way to close out the year," Young said. "Weve been playing hard all season long. Our record doesnt say were going out there and doing the job, but were working to get better every time." Nick Young scored 26 points on 6-for-21 shooting in the Lakers fifth consecutive loss. Los Angeles also has lost five of six at Staples Center, winning just once at home since Nov. 24. Gasol missed his second straight game with a respiratory infection for the Lakers, who already werre without Bryant, Nash and Steve Blake.dddddddddddd. Chris Kaman suited up despite limited movement on his injured ankle, and Jordan Hill contributed 18 points and 13 rebounds while starting at centre. Los Angeles then lost swingman Xavier Henry to a strained right knee in the first quarter. Henry recently filled in at point guard while Bryant and the Lakers top three point guards were injured. "We had guys battling, but we just dont have enough right now," Lakers coach Mike DAntoni said. "Its tough to gauge where we are because we dont quite know what were going to get when we get out there. ... Weve got to turn the corner somehow. Weve got to get a couple of breaks and get some momentum going." Two days after the Lakers lost to Utah, the Western Conferences last-place team, Los Angeles lost to another one of the NBAs worst. Injuries are an undeniable factor, but the Lakers 22 turnovers and 37-per cent shooting might have been topics of general manager Mitch Kupchaks meeting with DAntoni after the game. Jodie Meeks scored 15 points as the Lakers used their 16th starting lineup in 31 games, including seven straight games with a new starting five since Bryant broke a bone near his knee. "Weve just got to go out there and find ourselves again," Nick Young said. "We have to bring our energy and just have fun. Weve been worrying too much out there. Its tough trying to get wins, but we have to fight. We cant fight with ourselves and be down on ourselves. This is the time we have to stay together the most. We need to be a team right now more than anything." Henry will have an MRI exam Monday. In his absence, recent D-League call-up Kendall Marshall stepped in as Farmars backup at point guard, contributing eight points and three assists. NOTES: After the Sixers missed nine of their first 10 shots in the first quarter, the Lakers promptly missed nine of their next 10. ... Nick Young spent last season with Philadelphia, averaging 10.6 points while largely coming off the bench. He left as a free agent to join his favourite boyhood team in his native Los Angeles. ... One day after Dallas Stars forward Rich Peverley collapsed during a game, the hockey community spoke up about the incident and were relieved that Peverley is in stable condition. "Thank God hes OK," Stars forward Tyler Seguin said as his club prepared to face the St. Louis Blues Tuesday night. "Hockeys just a game at that point. It really puts things in perspective." The incident occurred with 13:37 remaining in the first period of Mondays contest against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Peverley was transported to hospital after being attended to for several minutes, and the Stars later issued a statement saying that he was conscious and his condition was not life-threatening. "Hes doing good. Hes stable, hes in good spirits," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said on Tuesday. "A few guys said hes interacted and said hes got his sense of humour back and ready. Hes in good medical care and the story we get to tell is a real good one. Thats the part I like." On Tuesday, Stars general manager Jim Nill said in a statement that Peverley is in stable condition and has been communicating with teammates and friends since he was admitted into hospital. Nill said doctors are focused on finding a long-term solution to Peverleys irregular heartbeat. The condition was diagnosed in training camp, and he underwent a procedure that sidelined him for the preseason and the season opener. "Its a big relief. We were pretty scared there. Once we found out that he was good and stable, it was a very big relief," Stars captain Jamie Benn said. "Hes in good hands. Its something you never want to see. Obviously Rich is a big part of this team. Were obviously a family in here and we never want to see someone go down like that." The Stars game against the Blue Jackets was postponed after Peverley went down. "Its scary when you see something like that happen," Senators captain Jason Spezza said. "Its very scary when you see a guy collapse like that; Im sure those guys that were involved in the incident are pretty shaken up and everyone wishes him the best and hopefully he recovers well. "When you see things like that happen, it puts things into perspective for everybody and their families." Senators forward Clarke MacArthur added "When something like that happens its like time stands still. I was just waiting by the TV hoping to hear the best news possible. Thank God for the trainers and the guys who took care of him. Hes got a wife and a family and its a scary situation." Blue Jackets centre Brandon Dubinsky said Tuesday that he and his teammates are coming to grips with what they witnessed. "Obviously being part of a traumatic incident like that is never easy, but hopefully the fact he is doing well will allow us to get ready for an important game," Dubinsky said. Blue Jackets forward Nathan Horton added: "I was sick to my stomach wondering if hes OK." The situation on the bench brought back memories of when Detroit defenceman Jiri Fischer went into cardiac arrest during a game against the Nashville Predators on Nov. 21, 2005. Fischer, now the Red Wings director of player development, subsequently retired due to heart problems. "It affects everybody," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "I know how rattled our guys were. Its way different than hockey and obviously way more important than hockey." Senators head coach Paul MacLean, who was an assistant coach in Detroit when Fischers emergency happened, added, "When I got home last night I got to see it again on the news and its a terrible thing to have happened; having been there for one previous event, its scary. Its really scary to see something like that happen. You dont expect that from professional athletes with the highest fitness level. It gives you a bad feeling in your stomach." Meanwhile in Montreal, Canadiens forward Brandon Prust said Peverley has the support of the entire NHL. "I think everyone in the league is thinking about him and praying for him," Prust said. "Its always really sad to see, it kind of breaks your heart." Donovan Smith Womens Jersey . LOUIS - Reliever Jordan Walden and the St. Mike James Womens Jersey . The Hall of Fame defenceman told Landsberg that he believes fighting still has a place in todays game, but thinks staged fighting needs be outlawed. "I just think that the fear of getting beaten up is a great deterrent from all of a sudden becoming a tough guy," Orr said. "I really believe we have to get rid of the staged fighting and get rid of avenging the legal hit, but I think that we have to leave (fighting) in there. I just think a lot of guys will all of a sudden get real brave and I think that it will lead to more violence in our game." Orr was asked about the hit by Buffalo Sabres forward John Scott to the head of Loui Eriksson of the Boston Bruins and called it outrageous, adding that fighting is needed after illegal hits such as Scotts. "(The hit) made no sense," said Orr. "Loui Erikssons a pretty good hockey player and very important tto the Bruins.dddddddddddd I mean, Scott goes after Phil Kessel and thats outrageous. Why do you do that? This is why I believe that the fear of getting beat has to be there and a policeman has to be there if theres a reason to fight." Orr, who won Stanley Cups with the Boston Bruins in 1970 and 1972, said that times have changed and the game has to evolve with the changes. "Hey, we did things back in the day that if we did today wed probably be in a lot of trouble," said Orr. "Its changing now. The new fan were trying to attract doesnt want to see some of the foolishness. But I really think we have to be careful with eliminating (fighting) completely. Orr credited the NHL for doing a great job with punishments on head hits and blindside hits, as well as the new hybrid rule. "I think the league is doing a great job with the hits from behind and the high blind spot hits, and I think hybrid icing is a wonderful rule," said Orr. "Its a changing world and weve got to make changes." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys china cheap jerseys wholesale jerseys wholesale jerseys ' ' '

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Belk Bowl will pit a pair of top-20 teams for the first time in its 13-year history, as the 13th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs and 20th-ranked Louisville Cardinals battle at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Dec 30. The matchup is a classic great offense vs. great defense affair, as Georgia boasted the highest scoring offense in the SEC and Louisville ranked sixth in the entire country in total defense. Georgia has had a month to dwell on its last regular season game, and the Bulldogs still probably have a bad taste in their mouth about it. Even though the possibility of reaching the SEC title game was out of reach, the Bulldogs still had a chance at upending in-state rival Georgia Tech. A touchdown with 18 seconds left in regulation gave Georgia the lead, but an improbable Yellow Jackets field goal forced overtime. Georgia Tech scored a touchdown in OT, and Hutson Mason was intercepted on the ensuing series to end the 30-24 heartbreaking loss. The interception was Masons final throw at Sanford Stadium, spoiling an otherwise terrific season that saw the senior lead a prolific offense. The architect behind the attack, coordinator Mike Bobo, was named Colorado States head coach last week and will not be coaching in the bowl game. His duties will be taken over by Will Friend, head coach Mark Richt said. Mason completed 67.9 percent of his passes for 2,019 yards with 20 touchdowns to just four interceptions. His 154.8 passer rating ranked second in the SEC. He accumulated those numbers without having a go-to receiving, as Michael Bennetts 35 catches led the team. Chris Conley recorded a team-high 577 yards and seven touchdowns on 32 receptions, and six other players caught at least 10 passes. The running game is where Georgia really shined, as it gained 3,060 yards and 35 TDs on the ground. Nick Chubb was a phenomenal fill-in for Todd Gurley, whose Heisman campaign was derailed when he was suspended four games for accepting cash for autographed memorabilia. Gurley amassed a stunning 794 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in five games before being suspended, then gashed Auburn for 138 yards and a score upon his return. He tore his ACL during Georgias signature win, and Chubb took over the backfield duties for good. The Bulldogs did not miss a beat with the freshman toting the rock, as Chubb gained 1,326 yards and 12 touchdowns while earning a 6.9 ypc average. He was named to the All-SEC First Team. Georgias defense often gets overlooked with the offense hogging the headlines, but the Bulldogs unit held opponents to 21.2 ppg and just 334 ypg. Three Georgia defenders were named to the All-SEC Second Team, including linebackers Amarlo Herrera and Ramik Wilson. The duo totaled 112 and 102 tackles, respectively, with a combined four sacks. Defensive back Damian Swann made the Second Team on the strength of three interceptions, four forced fumbles and 62 tackles. The Bulldogs have played in a bowl game 17 straight years and are 27-19-3 in the postseason. They lost to Nebraska in last years Gator Bowl. Ten wins is something to be proud of, although its not what we wanted to accomplish, Mason said. Im a black and white guy and we didnt get the job done this year with what we wanted to do in winning the SEC Championship. This is where were at so lets go 10-3 and not 9-4 and lets finish the season off right. While Georgia may not have lived up to expectations, the Cardinals first year in the ACC can be seen as a success. The program welcomed back embattled head coach Bobby Petrino despite his tumultuous departure from the school eight years ago. Petrino, always a winner at the college level, guided the Cardinals to a 9-3 record and a 5-3 mark in conference play -- good for third place in the Atlantic Division. Louisville, which was not ranked in the preseason polls, won its final three regular season games despite a change at quarterback. Reggie Bonnafon took over for injured starter Will Gardner and went 4-1 as a starter, but he too, went down with a knee injury in the regular season finale against Kentucky. The freshman was so-so throwing the ball and tossed for only five touchdowns with three interceptions on 51.3 percent efficiency. He did show duel-threat ability with five rushing scores, however. Redshirt freshman Kyle Bolin will start in Bonnafons place if he does not recover in time from a bone bruise in his left knee. On the ground, the Cardinals got the most out of sophomore Brandon Radcliff, who amassed 648 yards and 11 touchdowns. He and Michael Dyer each average over 50 ypg on the ground. Bonnafon had the luxury of throwing to one of the nations premier wideouts in DeVante Parker. The extremely talented senior missed the first half of the season with a foot injury but has made up for lost time with 35 catches for 735 yards and five touchdowns in five games. Defensively the Cardinals have been stellar, allowing just 20.5 ppg and only 293.2 ypg to opponents. They are especially good against the run, limiting teams to 93.7 rushing ypg having given up just nine ground scores all season long. Gerod Holliman tied the NCAA record for interceptions in a season with 14 and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nations top defensive back. While Holliman locks down the secondary, the Cardinals know stopping Georgias running game is of the utmost importance. Its going to be one of the toughest (tests), linebacker Keith Kelsey said. Theyve got good running backs and good running game. Georgia is just a physical team. Weve got to put on our pads and go after it every play. Louisville is 9-8-1 in the postseason and lost the 2011 Belk Bowl to NC State. A win would give the Cardinals 10 wins for the third straight year. We want to get to 10 wins, Petrino said. Thats certainly something our seniors would be very proud of so they can look back at their career and see the double-digit winning seasons theyve had. HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets recently have developed a knack for playing great in the third quarter. Coach Kevin McHale loves what his team has been doing after the break and wishes they could find that intensity early in games. James Harden tied a season high with 38 points, Dwight Howard added 20 points and 13 rebounds and the Rockets used a big third-quarter run to earn a 113-99 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. Howard got his first win against his former team as the Rockets sent the injury-riddled Lakers to their third straight loss. "We did a better job in the second half of defending," McHale said. "It was a big difference in the game." The Rockets trailed by a basket in the third quarter before going on a 17-2 run to take an 80-67 lead and roll to victory. Harden hopes they can find a way to play better early when they leave Houston for a long road trip on Thursday. "At the beginning of the game ... we have to come out with a sense of urgency," he said. "We cant put ourselves in situations like that because on the road these four games anything is possible and if we do that, some games we might not be able to come back." Harden continued his recent torrid scoring with his third straight 30-point game. He has piled up 113 points in the last three games combined. Nick Young scored 25 points to lead Los Angeles and Pau Gasol and Jodie Meeks scored 21 each. Ronnie Brewer started for the first time this season in place of the injured Chandler Parsons, who was out with a sore right knee. Howard made a season-high four steals, Harden collected a season-best five steals, and Terrence Jones had 15 points and 13 rebounds. The Lakers had a two-point lead midway through the third quarter when Houston got rolling, scoring seven straight points thanks to a 3-pointer by Harden and back-to-back buckets by Howard to take a 70-65 lead. The second one brought the crowd to its feet when Harden swiped a bad pass from Kendall Marshall and tossed up an alley-oop that Howard finished with a monster two-handed slam. That spurt was the beginning of the 17-2 burst that extended Houstons lead to 80-67 with about two minutes left in the quarter. Harden was on fire in that span, scoring nine points and drawing a collective "ooh" from the crowd when he crossed up rookie Ryan Kelly on a layup to cap it. Los Angeles was as cold as Harden was hot, missing five shots and committing three turnovers while the Rockets built the lead. "We seem to run out of energy," Los Angeles coach Mike DAntoni said. "I dont know if they are getting tired or its just the other team turns on the burners." Howard spurned the Lakers to sign an $88 million deal with Houston, joining Harden and a team that made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2009. He admitted after practice Tuesday that he was ticked off that Los Angeles came out on top in the first meeting earlier this season. The centre missed several key free throws down the stretch in that one, a one-point win by the Lakers in November when they employed the Hack-A-Howard strategy. They were down by 14 points when they used that approach again Wednesday night, fouling him every time Houston got the ball for a two-minute span ending with about two minutes left. "Its nothing I like," DAntoni said. "It makes an ugly game, but were trying to get a win." Howard made just six of 14, but Houstons lead was so big this time it didnt matter. He finished 10 of 24 from the free throw line. "I was upset at myself for missing all those," Howard said. "I just have to get better at it." He wouldnt acknowledge that this win meant any more than beating any other team. But said it was important for the team to win in general to get going for the road trip. The Lakers, who are missing Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Jordan Farmar and Steve Blake with various injuries, lost for the ninth time in 10 games. Houston opened the second half with a 9-3 run to take a 61-60 lead with about 8 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter. Jones scored the last four points of that run. The Lakers led 57-52 at halftime. SAN DIEGO -- Tim Lincecum doesnt pitch like the two-time Cy Young award winner from five years ago. Hes just beginning to get similar results. The right-hander struggled after winning the honour in 2008 and 2009, but a retooling of his game has begun to pay off and has the San Francisco Giants thinking about the Lincecum of old. After throwing a no-hitter against San Diego 11 days ago, Lincecum took a shutout into the seventh inning Sunday to lead the Giants to a 5-3 win over the Padres. Lincecum (8-5) extended his scoreless streak to 23 1-3 innings before Brooks Conrad hit a solo homer in the seventh to knock him out of the game. The streak started with his second career no-hitter against San Diego on June 25. Lincecum followed that with eight scoreless innings in a 5-0 win over St. Louis on Tuesday. Although this is not the overpowering Lincecum who won the Cy Young in consecutive years, the results are impressive. "Im not going to overpower teams with my stuff," Lincecum said. "Im just going to have to mix my pitches and locations. Im doing a good job of that. Im not missing in big spots with pitches." He allowed one run on three hits, walked four and struck out six. Lincecum has won all three starts this season against San Diego and improved his mark against the Padres to 16-6 in 29 career starts. Lincecum threw his first no-hitter at San Diego on July 13, 2013. "Timmys just been on a good roll," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "How poised hes been, how easy his delivery has been." The Giants have been down this road before with Lincecum since he began struggling after his last Cy Young season and lacked the consistency that had marked the early part of his career. Bochy thinks this recent stretch may last. "Hes reinvented himself," Bochy said. "I think he has a better idea of what he wants to do as far as pitching. Hes become more of a pitcher. It was pure stuff early on in his career. Hes gotten more cerebral with the pitching side of it." Lincecum also believes he may be able to sustain his most recent success as compared to other stretches when it didnt last. "Its just a feeling I have right now," he said. "I look for consistency and this is about as consistent as I have been in the last few years. Hopeefully, this is the start of something good.dddddddddddd" The Giants, who had dropped 18 of 22 games after they lost the opener Friday, won two straight to win only their second series in nearly a month. Brandon Belt drove in two runs for San Francisco and Hunter Pence had three hits, extending his season-best hitting streak to 11 games, and scored three runs. Rookie Joe Panik and Michael Morse each had an RBI. Three relievers combined with Lincecum on a four-hitter. Santiago Casilla pitched the ninth for his third save in six chances. The Padres did not get their first hit off Lincecum until there were two outs in the fourth. Yasmani Grandal hit a two-run homer, his seventh, off former closer Sergio Romo in the eighth inning to cut the Giants lead to 5-3. Rookie Jessie Hahn (4-2) lost his four-start winning streak, allowing three runs on five hits over seven innings in his sixth major league start. The left-hander struck out five and walked two. "In the early innings, they were sitting on my curveball, so I had to make some adjustments," Hahn said. Hahn retired 11 straight batters after he allowed Morses RBI single to fall behind 3-0 in the third. "The second half of his outing was outstanding," Padres manager Bud Black said. "I was really impressed with how Jesse hung in there." Belt singled in a run in the first and had a sacrifice fly in San Franciscos two-run eighth. NOTES: Lincecums career best for scoreless innings is 29 in 2009. ... Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval, who left Saturday nights game with a left elbow bruise after he was hit while swinging at a pitch, did not play. ... The Giants 5-3 win Saturday night in 10 innings was just the clubs third victory since moving to San Francisco in 1958 in which the team won a game with a game-tying homer in the ninth inning and a game-winning home run in the 10th, according to information provided to the Giants by the Elias Sports Bureau. ... Giants RHP Ryan Vogelsong (5-5, 3.86 ERA) is scheduled to face As RHP Jesse Chavez (6-5, 3.23) in the opener of a three-game series at Oakland on Monday. ... DAYTON, Ohio -- Given a second chance, T.J. Warren put on a show in the NCAA tournament. The hard-to-guard sophomore forward scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half on Tuesday night, showing why he was the ACCs player of the year, and North Carolina State led most of the way in a 74-59 victory over Xavier in the NCAA tournaments First Four. N.C. State (22-12) didnt have much time to celebrate. The 12th-seeded Wolfpack headed to Orlando, Fla., for a game on Thursday against St. Louis in the Midwest Regional. Warren had the most to do with it. He made up for a freshman tournament flop on the same floor a year earlier and prevented Xavier (21-14) from getting any traction in the second half. "Hes just a great player," coach Mark Gottfried said. "Its hard to keep him down for a whole 40 minutes." Centre Matt Stainbrook led Xavier with 19 points and nine rebounds despite an injured left knee. Leading scorer Semaj Christon was limited to 14 points, and Xavier made only 2 of 14 shots from beyond the arc. Xavier was playing in a familiar arena less than an hour from campus. Familiar, but not entirely friendly. Fans of the Dayton Flyers -- a long-time rival -- booed loudly as they took the court, making for a mixed welcome with a lot of Musketeer fans in the stands as well. Warren made it all a moot point, helping N.C. State take all the drama out of the game over the final 11 minutes. Ralston Turner added 17 points. The Wolfpack went six years between NCAA appearances before Gottfried got them there three years in a row. This was his youngest and least-experienced team: Only two players with tournament experience. They got one of the final at-large bids with a strong closing run, winning five of their last six games, including an upset of Syracuse in the ACC tournament. Warren was the key. And he really wanted a second chance at the NCAA tournament. As a freshman last year, he managed only four points as N.C. State lost to Temple 76-72 at the University of Dayton Arena in its opening game. Hes grown a lot in one year, leading the ACC with 24.8 points per game this season and hitting the 40-point mark twice. He got off to a bad start on Tuesday, missing his first two shots and picking up two fouls in the first 4 minutes, 14 seconds. Warren checked back into the game and hit a jumper for his first points at the 11:29 mark. Christon, who was Warrens roommate at Brewster Academy for one year, kept the Musketeers in it during the first half. He scored off two drives to the basket, starting an 8-1 run. Stainbrooks reverse layup trimmed it to 27-26 with 2:22 left. Jordan Vandenbergs three-point play gave N.C. State a 34-28 advantage at halftime. Dee Davis hit Xaviers first 3-pointer, and Christon scored on a fast-break lay-in that cut it to 39-37. Thats when Warren took over. He had a pair of pull-up jumpers, followed by a steal and a lay-up as N.C. State rebuilt the lead to 51-42. He had another pull-up jumper and a fast-break dunk that made it 57-47 with 7:56 to go. Xavier never got closer than seven points the rest of the way, fading down the stretch. The biggest question for Xavier was how Stainbrooks left knee would hold up. The Big Easts second-leading rebounder sprained a ligament, sat out the final regular season game and was extremely limited in two Big East conference games. He was back in form, but Xavier didnt have enough other scoring options to keep up. Dwyane Wade Swingman Jersey . BARCELONA, Spain - Andres Iniesta signed a three-year contract extension Monday that will keep him at Barcelona at least through the end of the 2017-18 season. The contract includes a clause that from 2018 the midfielder will automatically extend his contract on a yearly basis if he plays in a non-disclosed number of games per season. The 29-year-old Iniesta has helped Barcelona win 21 trophies, including three Champions League titles and six Spanish league titles. He has scored 48 goals for Barcelona. Iniesta has also played a major role in helping Spain win the World Cup and the past two European Championships. Iniesta joined Barcelonas football academy at the age of 12 and debuted with the first team in 2002. He played his 480th match with Barcelona on Sunday, when it rallied to win 5-2 at Getafe to retain its share of the Spanish league lead with Atletico Madrid. Iniesta said after Sundays match that he was happy with his new contract — announced by the club last week — because it meant "its possible I will retire at Barca." Austin, the first-round draft pick with uncanny speed and unlimited potential, scored on a 98-yard punt return and grabbed two long TD passes Sunday as the St. Louis Rams ended a three-game losing streak with a stunning 38-8 victory over the AFC South-leading Colts. "Ive been patient for eight weeks and, hopefully, its my time right now," Austin said. "I knew the day was going to come. It was just me being patient and me being true to myself and to keep working. Im just glad that I had an opportunity." Nobody did more against Indy (6-3) this season -- or any time recently. Austin returned four punts for 145 yards and scored on touchdown passes of 57 and 81 yards, his only two catches of the day. He also returned one kickoff for 27 yards while making the Colts look foolish all day. Hes the first player with a punt return of 95 yards or more and two 55-yard or longer TDs receiving in a game. Austins one-man show started when he backed up and waved off teammates as Pat McAfees punt sailed deep into Rams territory. But as the Colts moved into position to down the bouncing ball, Austin reached out and dangerously grabbed it at his own 2-yard line. The Colts didnt react immediately, apparently believing the play had stopped, and Austin sprinted down the right sideline, avoided one defender and picked up a block on McAfee and reached the end zone to give the Rams (4-6) a 21-0 lead. Even Rams coach Jeff Fisher couldnt believe it. "I went from saying, Get away, get away, get away, to Go, go, go!" Fisher said. Austin later caught a short pass on a drag route over the middle, turned upfield and avoided two defenders with an inside cut for the 81-yard score. That made it 35-0 -- too big a deficit even for the masterful Andrew Luck to overcome. The Colts just couldnt get a handle on the 5-foot-8, 176-pound receiver who finished with 310 total yards and three TDs. "That was a lot of fun to watch. Tavon, hes lightning in a bottle when he gets the ball in his hands," quarterback Kellen Clemens said. "His performance tonight is certainly going to be one for the books." Clemens went 9 of 16 for 247 yards with two scores and no interceptions, hooking up with Austin on the two longest completions of his eight-yeear NFL career.dddddddddddd His previous long was 56 yards in 2007 with the Jets. The defence was good right from the start, too, opening the game with a strip-sack from Robert Quinn. Chris Long scooped up the loose ball and returned it 45 yards for a score. Until scoring their only touchdown, late in the third quarter, Indy had just 181 yards in offence. Luck was sacked three times and the Rams picked off four passes -- three of them from Luck -- to win for the first time since Sam Bradford went down with a season-ending knee injury Oct. 20. For the Colts, it was a miserable performance. "We just didnt do anything," coach Chuck Pagano said. "I take full responsibility for it as the football coach, we did not have this team ready to play." Luck finished 29 of 47 for 353 yards with one TD, though most of that came after the Colts dug themselves into a 38-0 deficit. Indy ran 14 times for a measly 18 yards, 1.3 yards per carry. The defence couldnt get a handle on Austin or his teammates, resulting in Indys worst loss at Lucas Oil Stadium -- and its worst home loss since San Diego hung a 31-0 shutout at the RCA Dome on Nov. 29, 1993. Robert Mathis did have two sacks to retain the league lead (13 1/2). The loudest cheers, and most tears, came during a halftime ceremony when Army Sgt. 1st Class Jeremy Inocencio surprised his family by stepping out of an SUV in one of the end zones at halftime. His wife, Christin, and children, Dominique and David, ran toward him to give him a hug, drawing both cheers and tears. Inocencio had been serving in Afghanistan. Austin provided the rest of the highlights on a day the Colts would like to forget. "It is what it is, we got our butts kicked, weve got to move on," said Pagano, who will take the Colts to Tennessee on Thursday night. NOTES: Mathis also broke the franchise record for mutli-sack games in a season (six) and has a new single-season career-high, too. ... The Rams played without starting right guard Harvey Dahl (knee) and second tight end Lance Kendricks (broken finger) and lost linebacker James Laurinaitis late in the game with a head laceration. ... GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Ryan Millers debut for the St. Louis Blues started with a tough break and ended with a victory. Miller made 23 saves and Patrik Berglund scored twice during St. Louis four-goal, third-period rally and the Blues beat the Phoenix Coyotes 4-2 on Sunday night. Kevin Shattenkirk and Magnus Paajarvi added goals for the Blues, who had been scoreless for a franchise-record 187:44 before scoring three in a nine-plus minute span. Miller was playing in his first game since being acquired by St. Louis in a five-player deal with Buffalo on Friday. In addition to posting a 284-186-57 record in 10-plus seasons, all with the Sabres, Miller entered the game 6-0-0 with a shutout and a 1.15 goals-against average in his career against Phoenix. "I was pretty anxious and nervous all day," Miller said. "Its a new group of guys and you want to show them what youve got and let them know youre there for them." The night got off to a rocky start courtesy of an unlucky bounce less than three minutes into the game. With a teammate skating down the slot, Paul Bissonnette wristed a soft shot toward the net. St. Louis defenceman Barret Jackman, seemingly anticipating a harder attempt, dropped to the ice for the block. But the puck ticked off the prone Jackmans left skate and bounced off Millers right shoulder and into the net for the goal and a 1-0 Phoenix lead at 2:56 of the first. "Things like that happen," Miller said. "You need to be able to react quickly enough to recover." Halpern made it 2-0 at 7:09 of the second, slipping behind Shattenkirk after the Blues defenceman cleared Bissonnette from the front of the crease and scoring off Yandles pass from the left boards. But momentum turned quickly in the third. Berglund took a backhand pass from Jaden Schwartz and beat Mike Smith from the left of the net to pull St. Louis within a goal at 3-1 at 3:18 of the third, his first goal in 17 games. "Everyone on the team could see Berglund was going to score," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He was on a 2-on-1 and when it went in everyone jumped up. Once we got that first goal, it was a like the weight was lifted off of everybodys shoulders and they just took off." Just over four minutes later, Paajarvi rifled a shot past Smith from the middle of the faceoff circle to tie the game with 12:26 to go. Shattenkirk gave the Blues their first lead of the game with 7:14 left when he took a pass at the point, skated into the left faceoff circle and took advantage of a screen from T.J. Oshie to score his first goal since Jan. 21. Berglund capped the scoring with an unassisted goal with 1:39 left, jumping on a loose puck after Yandle was apparently tripped between the circles in the St. Louis zone and skating the length of the ice before scoring on a sharp wrist shot. "I think that in the last few games weve had a lot of chances, but we havent been able to capitalize," Shattenkirk said. "We did a great job of going down 2-nothing and staying with our game plan." Jeff Halpern scored his 150th career goal and Bissonnette added his first goal since Dec. 14 for the Coyotes, who have lost four straight and five of six. "I still look and there are good things that we are doing," said Coyotes coach Dave Tippett, whose team squandered a chance to move from 11th place into a wild-card playoff spot in the Western Conference. "They pushed hard and we couldnt push back." Smith made 26 saves for the Coyotes. NOTES: The Blues have won four straight in Phoenix. ... Shattenkirks goal was his first since Jan. 23. ...
