OAKLAND, Calif. Larry Ogunjobi Browns Jersey . -- The Golden State Warriors are taking another chance on a television analyst and former NBA guard who has never been a head coach at any level. The Warriors won the bidding war with the New York Knicks for Steve Kerr on Wednesday, hiring him away from the TNT broadcast table to be their coach. Kerr agreed to a five-year, $25 million deal with Golden State, said his agent, Mike Tannenbaum. The Warriors confirmed the agreement Wednesday night and said they will introduce Kerr at a news conference after the contract is complete. Kerr had been in talks with the Knicks about becoming their coach since Phil Jackson took over as team president in March. He won three titles playing for Jackson in Chicago and another two under Gregg Popovich in San Antonio. Kerr told NBA.com, which first reported the agreement, that going to Golden State "just felt like the right move on many levels." He said his daughter plays volleyball nearby at the University of California, Berkeley, his oldest son is in college in San Diego and his youngest son is a junior in high school. Kerr called the offer to coach the Knicks a "tantalizing" opportunity. He said it was "agonizing" to say no to Jackson "because of what I think of him and what hes done for my career." "I told Phil, I think I have to pursue this other opportunity," Kerr told the website. "He gave me his blessing. He said. Go look at it, and do what was in my heart." Kerr, 48, said last month that he has wanted to coach since stepping down after three seasons as general manager of the Phoenix Suns in June 2010. And while the lure of rebuilding a flagship franchise with his mentor at Madison Square Garden looked appealing, the chance to coach a Western Conference contender in his home state proved to be too much. Kerr replaces Mark Jackson, who was fired by the Warriors on May 6 after three seasons and back-to-back playoff appearances -- mostly due to a sour relationship between him and team management. The Warriors job is certainly a far more attractive one than when owner Joe Lacob hired Jackson away from the ESPN/ABC broadcast table in June 2011. The Warriors are coming off a 51-win season and consecutive playoff appearances for the first time in 20 years, and theyve surrounded star Stephen Curry with a talented young core. Kerr became the hottest coaching candidate on the market after Phil Jackson started courting him to the Knicks. Kerr also has close ties to Lacob, his son, assistant GM Kirk Lacob, and Warriors President Rick Welts, who worked in Phoenixs front office during Kerrs time as Suns general manager. Given the tension that built between Jackson and Warriors management last season -- and the back-and-forth that played out between them in the media after Jackson was dismissed -- having an established relationship with Kerr was a big reason Lacob wanted him as coach. Lacob lauded Kerr as a candidate last week and defended the decision to change coaches -- which has been debated at great lengths in the basketball-united Bay Area. He compared the decision to how he built his fortune as a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley. Lacob said theres a different person to lead a business at different stages of development, and the Warriors have gone from a "startup" company to an organization looking to maximize its output. "Or in this case win an NBA championship," he said. "And we just felt overall we needed a different person to go forward and get to the next level." And while Kerr has no coaching experience, he played 15 seasons and -- also similar to Mark Jackson -- has been around some of the most successful sideline leaders. Kerr has credited Phil Jackson and Tex Winter for most of his basketball knowledge. Winter taught the triangle offence -- which Kerr would not commit to running with the Warriors -- and was a longtime assistant for Jackson, who used the system to win an NBA-record 11 championships as a coach of the Bulls and Lakers. Golden State also spoke with former Orlando Magic and Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy during its search. Van Gundy agreed to a $35 million, five-year deal with Detroit on Tuesday after the Pistons also gave him control of basketball operations -- something the Warriors wouldnt do with general manager Bob Myers and Kirk Lacob in place. The Warriors met with Kerr again on Tuesday night in Oklahoma City, where Kerr was calling the Thunder-Clippers game. And they apparently made a big enough impression -- and contract offer -- to land the man they wanted all along. DeShone Kizer Womens Jersey . NEW YORK -- Miles Mikolas earned his first win as a starter, pitching into the eighth inning Monday night and leading the Texas Rangers to a 4-2 victory over the sloppy New York Yankees. Guido Pizarro Argentina Jersey . Trailing by a run with none on and two outs in the sixth, Texas got run-scoring singles from Geovany Soto, Rougned Odor and Shin-Soo Choo to go ahead in only its third win in 17 July games. Adrian Beltre drove in the Rangers first run with a fielders choice in the third inning on one of New Yorks five errors -- three by starting pitcher Shane Greene (2-1). Second baseman Brian Roberts and shortstop Derek Jeter made the other errors for the Yankees, who had not committed five in a nine-inning game since Aug. 20, 1998, against Minnesota. Mikolas (1-2) yielded two runs, including Jacoby Ellsburys homer, and four hits in a career-high 7 1-3 innings to outlast Greene in a matchup of 25-year-old pitchers getting a shot because of injury-wrecked rotations. Joakim Soria gave up a single to Kelly Johnson and plunked pinch-hitter Brian McCann with a pitch before getting Yangervis Solarte to fly out for his 17th save. Mikolas won for the first time since Aug. 21, 2012, with San Diego. He made 25 relief appearances for the Padres that year. Hes had little success this year, coming in with a 10.05 ERA in three starts. It all nearly fell apart for Mikolas in the fifth when the Yankees loaded the bases. But with a large crowd cheering Jeter on his figurine night, he grounded into an inning-ending double play. Winners of only five of their last 25 games, the Rangers then broke through against Greene in his first appearance at Yankee Stadium. Soto struck out with runners on first and third in the second -- they were there thanks to two poor throws to first base by Greene -- but came through with the tying hit in the sixth, a single to left after Jake Smolinski singled and Jim Adduci walked. Matt Thornton relieved and gave up consecutive run-scoring hits to Odor and Choo. Playing the outfield for the first time since the All-Star break because of left ankle trouble, Choo snapped an 0-for-22 skid with a third-inning double. Green was charged with four runs and five hits in 5 2-3 innings. He had given up just two runs total in his first two career starts. Carlos Beltran put New York ahead with a sacrifice fly in the first after Jeter walked, advanced to second on a balk and third on Ellsburys single. Ellsbury homered leading off the fourth to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead. It was the seventh straight time he reached base after going 4 for 4 with a walk in a win over Cincinnati on Sunday. NOTES: Rangers C Soto left after the top of the sixth with tightness in his right groin. Smolinski bruised his left foot and was lifted for a pinch hitter in the ninth. ... Rangers RF Alex Rios (sprained right ankle) missed his second straight game. Manager Ron Washington said Rios looked much better and could play before the series ends Thursday. ... Injured Yankees LHP CC Sabathia (knee) turned 34. ... Up next: The Rangers plan to activate RHP Nick Martinez (1-6) from the DL to start Tuesday against the Yankees. He has been out since July 2 with discomfort on his left side. Rookie RHP Chase Whitley (4-3) starts for New York. Matias Kranevitter Argentina Jersey . With one week left in the regular season, Cornish - voted The Toughest Player To Bring Down - is a leading candidate for the CFLs Most Outstanding Player award. He has rushed for 1,799 yards and could break Willie Burdens club record for rushing yards in a single season with a 98-yard performance against the B. Carlos Tevez Argentina Jersey . Dumont, a fifth round draft pick of the Canadiens in 2009, has four assists and 20 penalty minutes in 12 games with the Bulldogs this season. The 23-year-old split last season between Hamilton and Montreal, recording 16 goals and 15 assists in 55 regular season games with the Bulldogs. http://www.argentinasoccerauthority.com/gabriel-mercado-argentina-jersey/ . The Wizards gave up two seldom-used players — forward Jan Vesely and point guard Eric Maynor. Vesely goes to the Nuggets, while Maynor gets shipped to the 76ers. Philadelphia receives two second-round draft picks, one from the Wizards in 2015 and one from the Nuggets in 2016.Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryan Little had the lone shootout goal to boost the Winnipeg Jets to a wild 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center. The Jets scored three goals on their first three shots of the night, all within the first 6:39 of the contest, but couldnt sustain the lead, yet snapped a two-game skid. Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick made an incredible sprawling save, falling backward with his left hand stopping a shot from Mathieu Perreault in the second round of the shootout. In the fourth round, Littles wrist shot found the right side of the net. Mike Richards missed the net on his attempt to extend the shootout. Little also scored in regulation, as did Blake Wheeler, Zach Bogosian and Perreault. Michael Hutchinson made 25 saves. Quick stopped 21 shots for the Kings, who got goals from Anze Kopitar, Marian Gaborik, Kyle Clifford and Justin Williams. The Kings suffered their third straight loss. Perreault put the puck in the net from in front at the 3:39 mark of the first period. Only 52 seconds later, Wheeler skated into the offensive zone above the right circle and found a streaking Little in the bottom part of the same circle for the quick goal. Wheeler made it 3-0 on the power play when he tried a center pass, but the puck deflected off the skate of Kings center Trevor Lewis and past Quick. LA got back in the contest with a pair of goals in a 1:27 span later in the first, both power play tallies. The Kings were awarded a two-man advantage due to penalties from Jim Slater (delay of game) and Adam Lowry (slashing). Kopitar scored on a rebound after Hutchinson stopped Doughtys one-timer from above the left circle. Gabriel Mercado Argentina Jersey. Williams then lit the lamp at the 15:58 mark off a loose puck in front. It looked as if Jeff Carter tied the game 3 1/2 minutes into the second period when he was left alone on a breakaway. His backhander went high and hit the bottom of the crossbar and came straight down onto the ice. Replay officials determined the puck never cross the goal line. The Kings deadlocked the game 1:29 into the third. Kopitars centering pass deflected off the skate of Winnipegs Toby Enstrom and right to Gaborik in front. Clifford gave LA a 4-3 lead with 7:35 remaining in regulation. Lewis sent a centering pass from the left side to Clifford, and his attempt deflected off the left skate of Jets defenseman Mark Stuart and past Hutchinson. Bogosian evened the game again with 5:56 left when his blast from above the right circle found its way through traffic. Kopitars blast in the high slot was deflected away with just over a minute left in OT. LA was given a power play in the final 31.5 seconds when Williams, who was cutting to the net, was held by Andrew Ladd. Game Notes Kings forward Tanner Pearson left the game late in the second period with a lower body injury after he was driven into the boards, legs-first by Jets defenseman Jay Harrison ... Kopitar and Doughty were named All-Stars Saturday, as was Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien ... The Kings have never lost a regulation game at home to the Winnipeg Jets/Atlanta Thrasher franchise (7-0-3). Day 23 in 100 words or less It was a day for central defenders and set-piece goals. Claudio Marchisio Jersey . Time to go through the motions and squeeze out a victory had passed. It was a day for the serious World Cup contenders to step up and show us what they had. Brazil and Germany, with eight World Cups between them, did just that and now meet each other in Tuesdays semifinal. Germany 1-0 France Twenty years ago next week Germany were almost there. Just after 1:30pm in the afternoon, inside the blistering heat of Giants Stadium, New Jersey, the Germans led 1-0 in a World Cup quarterfinal against Bulgaria with 15 minutes left in the match. The reigning World Champions were about to become the first ever country to reach four straight World Cup semifinals. Bulgaria suddenly scored two goals in three minutes and in a New York minute the Germans were going home. The football world was stunned. No one since has made the final four of the World Cup four times in a row. Until today. Fittingly, it was Germany again, playing on another hot afternoon, and up a goal on their opponents. This time, though, there was no meltdown in the heat. Joachim Lows team havent been near their best in Brazil since a blistering opening 30 minutes against Portugal but this was their best showing since that showing in Salvador 18 days ago. It was a statement of intent from Lows side. A statement that they can win games in such a manner. "You are not only the best side in the world, you are the best side I have ever seen." That is what Low said to Xavi after Spain had defeated his German team in the semifinal four years ago. Spain won 1-0 that day, through a headed goal, scored by a centre-back from a set-piece. Low, then, will surely have been thinking about that when his team beat France the same way. Goalscorer Mats Hummels had a wonderful match. He would have been man of the match even if Germanys goal had been scored by someone else. Behind him, Manuel Neuer, earning his 50th cap, was also impressive again, making two outstanding saves, with one denying Karim Benzema in the final moments. Philipp Lahm at right back wasnt anywhere near his best but his positioning made sense for the collective balance of the side. Thats because it allowed Sami Khedira to come into midfield and he made a big difference. The Real Madrid man is clearly still not at his peak after a long layoff through injury but his penetrating runs into space makes Germany more flexible in attack and, subsequently, harder to defend against. With Thomas Muller still a menace in attack, either on the right or central, all of this means Low is building a side with a strong spine. You do not need to have 11 players all at the top of their game to win a World Cup. This is good news for Mesut Ozil and whoever plays alongside him and Muller. Ozil is clearly struggling inside this system but with other players excelling it is not as vital. Lows mind will be full of exceptional memories of Ozil performing brilliantly at the last two major tournaments. He remains good at spatial awareness and in possession when given outlets close by. However, he is far from at his best and his reputation as a player who needs a lot of love shows he is incredibly low on confidence. He is, however, like all of his teammates, just two wins away from being a world champion. France go home with their heads held high and will be a force on home soil at Euro 2016. The Champions League has been a wonderful stage for many to show they can compete at a high level, while Ligue 1 continues to produce some sensational young players not even seen in Brazil. For those who were in Brazil, this tournament, unlike the past two, will have provided them a lot of good lessons in cohesion both on and off the field. Didier Deschamps deserves a lot of credit for turning Les Bleus into a team their nation loves once again, just nine months after many couldnt stand them anymore. Brazil 2-1 Colombia Where do we start? Here is what we DO know: Brazil scored two goals via set pieces and now have only scored two goals from open play in four games against Croatia, Mexico, Chile and Colombia at this World Cup. Games against Cameroon should not count when evaluating their attack. The game was very physical. The ref was very average. If you followed the match on Twitter there is a good chance that you think Brazil were very, very fortunate. Colombia, however, did very little in the match until going down 2-0. Brazils intensity early in the match was unlike anything we have seen from the hosts so far and, James Rodriguez aside, Jose Pekermans team look like a side that is only good enough to reach the last eight. Thiago Silva was absolutely magnificent in defence. His suspension for the game against Germany is enormous. James Rodriguez got even better, despite the loss. He was a marked man and on a completely different level than his teammates yet he was still sensational, finding space and creating goal-scoring opportunities. He deserved his sixth goal of the World Cup. We bid farewell to Colombia. They played a wonderful part in making this a special World Cup and gave us the true star of this tournament. However, on this night, the rest of the team was shown to be what they are. Juan Cuadrado is very good and had a great tournament but the rest were just good. Good enough to take Colombia to the last eight for the first time. It appears as this column goes to press that Neymar is out of the World Cup. Here is what we do NOT know: How good are Brazil? This is the biggest question going forward. Despite getting by two good sides they look very average relying on Neymars pace and creativity in the final third. Without Neymar, they have no real plan B in attack. Even when they are scoring, he is the one creating them. Neymars speed again made a massive difference. You will remember David Luizs goal against Chile but moments earlier it was Neymar whose run got Brazil into that territory. They will miss many things without Neymar but his pace on counters is one the biggest things. Here is a shot of how Brazil lined up in that game. You will see the ball is on the right as #7 Hulk defends his flank. Already Neymar is anticipating a quick counter, wanting to go to the left…. Once that counter happens he is away to press…. Then he wins the ball and is behind the defender…. Here is the build up to the corner won by Brazil that led to their opening goal. Colombia in possession with Neymar lurking and Cristian Zapata deep to deal with his speed….. Brazil win it back and transition with Neymar immediately heading into that zone once again… Neymar is now in possession and Zapata is losing the race despite the head start… Zapata must force it into a corner – out of nothing and all because of the quick counter made by Neymar… Neymar has carried this team on his back so far and now that back can not carry the nation any more. Man of the day Nominees David Luiz – a sensational free kick gave Brazil the moment of the World Cup so far. Thiago Silva – opened the scoring with a key early goal and was magnificent in defence throughout. James Rodriguez – His name is James. James Rodriguez. No one should ever mispronounce his name ever again. A global star was born in Brazil. Manuel Neuer – the German goalkeeper was, once again, commanding in goal on the big occasion. Got his 50th cap against France and another 50 will be on their way. Mats Hummels – Germany needed a defensive hero very badly and the Borussia Dortmund man returned from the flu to win the game for Joachim Lows side. The winner… David Luiz – He may not have been the best player on the field but it was very special for a Brazilian to score a 35 yard free kick with the SIDE of his foot in such a monumental match. What comes next? Argentina vs Belgium (12pm/9am) and Netherlands vs Costa Rica (4pm/1pm) Burning question for tomorrow Argentina have gone through this World Cup with one great player and ten average ones. Can one player step up from average to good to help Lionel Messi and dispose of Belgium? Key stat of day 23 Mats Hummels scored the 30th headed goal at the World Cup. Italy Jersey . - Pierre-Maxime Poudrier scored twice and added an assist, and Antoine Bibeau made 43 saves as the Val-dOr Foreur downed the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 6-3 on Sunday to force Game 7 in their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final series. In addition to what he reported in Insider Trading, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun wrote on ESPN. http://www.italysoccerauthority.com/stefano-sturaro-italy-jersey/ . Carey Price made 27 saves for Montreal (30-21-6) for his fourth shutout of the year and second in four games. David Desharnais added an empty netter for the Canadiens. Reto Berra stopped 25 shots for Calgary (21-28-7). BOSTON -- Jarome Iginlas slow start in Boston is now a distant memory. Iginla scored two goals, Tuukka Rask stopped 33 shots, and the Eastern Conference-leading Bruins extended their winning streak to nine games with a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Wild on Monday night. Signed during the off-season to replace departed free agent Nathan Horton on the Bruins top line, Iginla has fit in perfectly. "We lose a guy that we thought would be back for us, in Horton. That was a big hole to fill," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "Hes come in and filled that hole really well. You mention the stats, he brings us the same thing the other guy did with his size and scoring ability. Hes done a great job. "Were talking about a veteran here with tremendous leadership qualities. Hes certainly been a great asset to our team." Iginlas scoring didnt come for a while with Boston. He didnt net his first goal until his ninth game, and had just five in his first 29. But now he is scoring goals even when his shots are blocked. The Bruins grabbed a 1-0 lead 3:52 into the second period on Iginlas first of the game. His shot was deflected by the stick of defenceman Jonas Brodin and popped into the air. Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper appeared to lose sight of the puck, and it bounced between his pads just before he dropped. Iginla was smiling along the boards when his teammates came to congratulate him. Iginla added an empty-netter, his team-leading 25th goal, with 65 seconds to play. "It was a very fluky, fortunate bounce goal. Ill definitely take them," he said, flashing a similar smile while standing in front of his locker. The Bruins increased their conference lead to five points over idle second-place Pittsburgh by posting their longest winning streak since a 10-game run in November 2011. Boston is 12-1-2 in its last 15 games. Loui Eriksson and Reilly Smith also scored for Boston, which beat the Wild at home for the first time after losing the first six meetings. The Bruins are 3-10 overall against the Wild, who began play in the 2000-01 season. "They were real consistent in how they plaayed," Minnesota defenceman Keith Ballard said. Alessandro Florenzi Jersey. "Theyve got good balance to their lineup." Jason Pominville had the only goal for Minnesota, which lost for the fifth time in six games, but three of those defeats came in shootouts. Kuemper made 25 saves. About 2 1-2 minutes after Iginlas first goal, Rask robbed Mikko Koivu with a glove stop on a shot from in front. He also made a right-pad save on Nino Niederreiters shot from the left circle with just over 2 1-2 minutes left in the game. "Our goaltending has been outstanding all year without question," Iginla said. "They give us a chance every night with big momentum shifts. We also feel as the game goes on we can start playing physical to start taking over the game and try to wear teams down." Rask played like what the Wild expected to face. "He was very good. We knew that going into the game, and he was as good as people say he is," Koivu said. "He made some great saves." Boston made it 2-0 at 11:55 when Carl Soderberg circled the net and sent a backhanded pass across the crease and through a group of players to Eriksson, who one-timed it into the net. Pominville cut it to 2-1 with 1:26 left in the second. He unloaded a slap shot, and the blade of his stick broke. It flew toward Rask as the puck sailed by his glove inside the near post. Smith scored off the rebound of Bergerons shot, making it 3-1 at 7:50 of the third. NOTES: Bruins defenceman and captain Zdeno Chara will turn 37 on Tuesday. ... Boston D Johnny Boychuk missed the game because of a lower-body injury. He went into the boards awkwardly Saturday in a win against Carolina and was helped to the bench, favouring his right leg. He returned and blocked a shot with that leg on his next shift and went to the bench slowly again. He tested the leg Monday morning and said it was too sore for him to play. ... The Bruins have never scored a power-play goal against the Wild, going 0 for 36. Boston had no power plays in the game. ... CHICAGO -- Luol Deng and the Chicago Bulls found a way to win, so this ugly game looked just fine to them. Patrick Mahomes II Jersey . Deng scored 21 points and the Bulls overcame a rough shooting night to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 86-81 on Monday for their fifth straight victory. "As I told our guys, it got choppy, particularly in the second quarter, and they do that to you. Theyre very good defensively," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "I thought in the second half we did a better job of getting the ball to the second side, which you have to do." Carlos Boozer had 12 points and 17 rebounds for Chicago, which is on its longest winning streak since taking eight in a row from Feb. 20-March 7, 2012. Jimmy Butler had 14 points and Derrick Rose finished with 12. Dengs 3-pointer with 27.1 seconds remaining gave the Bulls an 85-81 lead. Gerald Henderson then missed for the Bobcats, and Rose had a free throw to help Chicago wrap it up. The Bulls went 26 for 31 at the foul line, compared to 8 for 16 for the Bobcats. "We fought hard. Obviously, the difference in the game was the difference in free throws," Bobcats coach Steve Clifford said. "You come here and theyre a great team, theyre well prepared. You cant get outscored by 18 at the free-throw line. Thats the game in a nutshell." Rose, who hit a career-high six 3-pointers in the Bulls 110-94 win Saturday over Indiana, went 4 for 13 from the field. The Bulls shot 27 of 75 (36 per cent) overall. "Well take it," said Rose, who played 31 minutes in his second game back after missing Chicagos win at Toronto on Friday with a sore right hamstring. Butler missed part of the game with a right toe injury but came back with 6:35 left in the fourth. Charlotte was looking for its fourth consecutive road victory and third in four games overall, but it was unable to take advantage of the Bulls poor shooting. Once again, the Bobcats struggled from the floor despite a strong effort in the paint. The Bobcats were shooting a league-worst 40.2 per cent from the field coming into the day, and they were 28th from 3-point range at 29.3 per cent. On Monday, they shot 36.3 per cent despite outscoring the Bulls 38-28 in the paint. "We played hard the whole game," said Henderson, who made two free throws with 51.3 seconds left to cut the Bulls lead to one. "We came out a little sluggish. We played them hard. We just didnt come up with the plays at the end of the game, defensively." Jeffery Taylor led Charlotte with a career-high 20 points and Henderson had 16 in a game that featured two of the leagues top defensive teams. Entering Monday, the Bulls were third in opponents scoring at 90.0 points per game, while the Bobcats were fourth at 93.6. "Theyre great defensively," Thibodeau said. "Steves a hell of a coach. Hes doing an unbelievable job. Im happy for him that hes finally gotten an opportunity and the job that hes doing." That defence helped Charlotte stay in the game without one of its best scorers. Bobcats centre Al Jefferson missed his third consecutive game with a bone bruise in his right ankle. Clifford said he hopes Jefferson can play Wednesday against Brooklyn, but he will more likely play Friday against Phoenix. Jefferson, who signed a three-year, $40.5 million contract with the Bobcats in July, has played in three of Charlottes 11 games and is averaging 15 points and 8.7 rebounds. Without him, Charlotte had a chance to win in the final minutes in Chicago, but couldnt find a way past the Bulls. "It was a long summer. We havent played in a while, all together. I think were starting to get a rhythm," Deng said. "Our offence, it still can get a lot better." NOTES: It was the Bulls last home game before they host New Orleans on Dec. 2. Their next six are away from Chicago as they go on their annual circus trip. ... Clifford and Thibodeau were on the New York Knicks coaching staff from 2001-2003 and in Houston from 2003-2007. ... Charlotte plays five of its next six at home. ... Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, former Houston Rockets centre Yao Ming, Bulls Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen and NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver were in attendance. At times during a solid but not spectacular season, they looked all three. Still the defending AFC champions persevered, riding their top-ranked defence and key contributions from younger players to a 12-4 record and their eighth playoff appearance since 2000, remarkable consistency in a league where change is the only constant. The Vancouver Canucks were hoping for an improved showing when they signed former Vezina Trophy winner Ryan Miller to a three-year deal this summer. The Canucks have experienced that so far with a promising start and Miller might have a chance to make another contribution Friday night if he gets to face a team thats never beaten him in seven starts, the scuffling Arizona Coyotes. Catch all the action on TSN 1040 starting at 5pm PT. After ending a streak of five consecutive playoff appearances in 2013-14, Vancouver appears very capable of making it back to the postseason with a 12-5-0 start. After an uneven beginning, Miller did his part with a 1.70 goals-against average during a recent seven-game win streak, but he needed a boost from his teammates for a league-best 11th win, a 4-3 overtime victory against Ottawa on Tuesday. After allowing the tying goal with 11:18 left in regulation, the Canucks finished it off when Daniel Sedin scored with 55 seconds remaining in the extra period. We are happy, obviously, defenseman Kevin Bieksa said. Its a good start for us. We wanted to get out of the gate early with the way the summer went and all the new changes. A lot of guys coming in wanted to prove themselves and reprove themselves. Weve got that accomplished so far. The Canucks have won back-to-back games since a 5-1 defeat to Los Angeles on Saturday and took a 2-1 shootout win over Anaheim the next day with Eddie Lack in net for the finale of a four-game trip. We find ways to win. Its fun, forward Henrik Sedin said. Having been off for two days and with a four-day break coming up, Vancouver will likely turn to Miller again as hes 7-0-0 with a 1.27 GAA all-time against the Coyotes. Thats easily his lowest GAA versus any opponent and his second-best record versus any team behind a 10-0-0 mark against Edmonton. Western Conference-worst Arizona (6-9-1) heads into Vancouver seeking to avoid a season-high fourth consecutive loss. Kareem Hunt Chiefs Jersey. Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith has been charged with a combined nine goals in the past two defeats, the latest a 5-3 loss in Calgary in Thursdays opener to a three-game trip. There are plays that have to get made, saves that have to get done. We just have to play better as a group, coach Dave Tippett said. Its unknown if Smith, 4-9-0 with a 3.43 GAA this season, will start on back-to-back nights. He started all five games against Vancouver last season and led the Coyotes to a 3-0-2 series victory while posting a 1.93 GAA. Smith, though, also gave up a combined eight goals in two overtime losses in Vancouver. Backup Devan Dubnyk allowed a total of nine goals in a pair of defeats in Vancouver last season while with Edmonton. Its also unclear if Vancouvers Radim Vrbata will get to face his former club, but he did practice Thursday. Vrbata has missed the past two games with a leg injury after producing six goals and seven assists in his first 15 with the Canucks. He had 20 goals and a career-best 31 assists last season with the Coyotes and scored a career-high 35 goals for them in 2011-12. Former teammate Antoine Vermette has nine goals and three assists in his last nine games against Vancouver and scored six times in last seasons series. He recorded the latest of his three career hat tricks in a 5-4 overtime defeat in Vancouver on Jan. 26. PROJECTED LINES: Forwards D. Sedin - H. MILWAUKEE -- Matt Clarks first home run of his career is something hell likely never forget. Eddie Jackson Youth Jersey . Or maybe he already did. Clark hit his first homer, Wily Peralta pitched into the seventh inning, and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Miami Marlins 4-1 Wednesday night. "I dont really remember much of it," Clark said. "I think they gave me a concussion when I walked through the dugout. It was definitely an awesome feeling." Peralta (16-10) gave up one earned run and five hits in 6 2-3 innings to help Milwaukee snap a four-game losing streak and win for just the second time in its last 15 games. The right-hander also had an RBI for the Brewers, who remained 1 1/2 games behind Pittsburgh for the second wild-card spot. "I really liked the way Wily came out and threw the ball," Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said. "He set the tone. His fastballs were outstanding. He threw more change-ups today. Thats the best change-up Ive seen him have." Francisco Rodriguez got the last three outs to reach 40 saves for the fifth time in his career. Miamis Jarred Cosart (4-2) allowed an earned run and four hits in six innings, striking out seven. He had won his last four decisions. Marcell Ozuna hit his 22nd home run of the season to lead off the seventh for Miami. Rodriguez, who gave up three runs in the ninth in a 6-3 loss Tuesday, last topped the 40-save mark in 2008 when he set a major league record with 62 while with the Los Angeles Angels. The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the third when Jean Segura reached second base when shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria fielded his ground ball and threw it over the head of first baseman Garrett Jones. As Segura went to second, Miami thought he failed to touch first. But when Cosart threw the ball to first to appeal the play, Segura took third and scored on the next pitch on Peraltas sacrifice fly. Official scorer Tim ODriscoll initially ruled Seguras advancement to third as a fielders choice. After discussing the play with the Elias Sports Bureau, however, he changed it to a stolen base. "That was on my shoulders for kind of lobbing the ball over there and giving Segura a chance to get to third," Cosart said. Added Miami manager Mike Redmond: "That was a crazy play, no doubt." Clark, a September call-up making his second start, got his first career RBI on a sacrifice fly in the fourth. He then led off the bottom of the seventh with his homer to right for a 3-1 lead. SURPRISE CALL Shortly after Jonathan Lucroy became the third Brewers player all-time to hit 50 doubles in a season, he was thrown out at the plate by left fielder Christian Yelich on a single by Aramis Ramirez in the first inning. Not only did the fans loudly cheer when the replay was shown, nearly every Miami player returned to the infield. Home plate umpire Dan Bellino, while the play was still under review, even tossed the ball back to Cosart as he walked to the mound. But shortly after, Lucroy was still ruled out. TRANSACTIONS Milwaukee recalled relief pitcher Rob Wooten from Triple-A Nashville prior to the game. He was 1-4 with a 4.59 ERA with the Brewers this season. ... The Brewers sent minor-league right-handed pitchers Kevin Shackelford and Barrett Astin to Cincinnati to complete the Aug. 31 trade for pitcher Jonathan Broxton from the Reds. TRAINERS ROOM Marlins: Henderson Alvarez will start Friday and Brad Penny has been moved to the bullpen. Alvarez left his start on Sept. 1 because of a left oblique strain. Brewers: Ryan Braun did not start for the second game in a row. The right fielder has been dealing with an injury to his right thumb that spread to his hand. UP NEXT Marlins: Nathan Eovaldi (6-10) is 0-4 with a 4.91 ERA in his career against Milwaukee. Brewers: Mike Fiers (5-2) is 0-2 in his career against the Marlins. Mitchell Trubisky Bears Jersey . Patriots attorney Andrew Phelan said at a hearing in Fall River Superior Court the team has agreed to produce 317 pages of materials sought by the defence, including medical and training records. But the team objects to turning over nine pages of scouting reports, which Phelan said contain proprietary "trade secrets." He also said they are irrelevant. Phelan said the Patriots have offered Hernandezs lawyers the option of reviewing -- but not copying -- what he described as a 1 1/2 page summary of the psychological assessment. Thats all the team has, according to court filings. The team says the defence should seek to obtain the full report from the third party that produced it, which specializes in providing character and mental assessments for professional sports organizations. Phelan accused the defence of being on a "fishing expedition." Hernandez, 24, has pleaded not guilty to murder in the June 2013 shooting death of Odin Lloyd, a former semi-professional football player from Boston who was dating the sister of Hernandezs fiancee. Lloyds bullet-riddled body was found in an industrial area not far from the ex-players Massachusetts home. Prosecutors say Hernandez orchestrated the killing because he was upset with Lloyd for talking to some people with whom Hernandez had problems at a nightclub a few days earlier. Hernandezs attorneyss last month asked a judge to approve a subpoena to compel his former employer to turn over all the records in his personnel file, saying they may contain important information about his state of mind. Adam Shaheen Jersey. "State of mind is critical," defence attorney Michael Fee told a judge Wednesday. "This is not a fishing expedition. Were not on a lark." He said the scouting reports may contain exculpatory information about "prior bad acts" allegedly committed by Hernandez before he joined the Patriots in 2010, including while he played football at the University of Florida. Fee called the offer to merely look at the psychological profile summary "a dodge and a feint," saying the document is part of the personnel file and that the defence is entitled to it. Hernandez has agreed to the files release. He was released by the Patriots on the day of his arrest last summer. The judge did not hear arguments on the merits of the subpoena request but set a hearing for July 22. Hernandez attended Wednesdays proceeding but did not address the court. Afterward, he was transferred to a new jail in Boston after his attorneys earlier request for a move -- to be closer to them -- was approved. Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins said Hernandez, who is being held without bail, will be treated like any other inmate. He said Hernandez will undergo an initial assessment before its determined whether hell be placed in the general population or isolation. Hernandez has also pleaded not guilty in a separate case in which hes charged with killing two men in Boston in 2012. But he left late in the third quarter with soreness in his left ankle and did not return. The Magic closed the first half with a 20-5 run. Greg Monroe led Detroit with 19 points. Andre Drummond had 14 points and 15 rebounds. Pistons guard Will Bynum missed the game due to food poisoning, leaving rookie Peyton Siva to log 47 minutes. With the players association in the midst of meetings in Las Vegas, a vote will be held on Friday to decide the CFLPAs presidency and other executive positions. NEW YORK -- The huge lead was gone, and the New York Knicks were in danger of a loss that would have hurt far more than their two straight blowouts. "From a mental standpoint, if this game would have got away from us, aint no telling what would have happened," Carmelo Anthony said. It didnt, thanks to Amare Stoudemires biggest moment of the season. Anthony had 30 points and 10 rebounds, Stoudemire made the tiebreaking jumper with 2:35 left, and New York pulled out an 83-78 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night after blowing a 23-point lead. Stoudemire finished with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Knicks, who ended a two-game losing streak but made it harder on themselves than necessary with some sloppy second-half offence. Stoudemire was a catalyst in a 19-0 second-quarter spurt while playing on both nights of back-to-back games for the first time this season. He was playing restricted minutes and was forced to sit out some games earlier this season following summer knee surgery, but has progressed past that and was on the court for nearly 30 minutes. He had scored 17 and 15 points in the previous two games, but this time his improved play resulted in a victory. "Its great in order to be out there playing in a desperation game down the stretch," Stoudemire said. "It feels good to be back on the court, Id tell you that much. A lot of hard work has been put in to be in top shape." Mike Dunleavy Jr. scored 20 points for the Bulls, who have lost three straight and five of six. They are having a dreadful time scoring, topping out at 75 points in their previous two games and barely surpassing that in this one. Joakim Noah had 12 points and 11 rebounds in his return after missing a game with a bruised right thigh, but Luol Deng missed his third straight game with a sore left Achilles for a team already without Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler. "We got them. We tied them. We just couldnt get over the top," Dunleavy said. "We couldnt break through." The Knicks were without Raymond Felton, who was resting a sore left hamstring and could be out for what coach Mike Woodson said would "probablly be a little while. ArDarius Stewart Youth Jersey. " Fellow starting guard Iman Shumpert joined him among the injured in the third quarter after bruising his left knee during a collision. The Knicks led by 12 points at halftime and were cruising in the third quarter before committing five turnovers in less than 2 minutes late in the period, allowing Chicago to pull within 68-54 heading to the fourth. The Bulls then held the Knicks to three field goals in the first 9-plus minutes of the fourth quarter, outscoring them 20-6 to tie it at 74 on Noahs follow shot with 3:39 remaining. Stoudemire broke the tie with his jumper, and Anthony made it 78-74 with two free throws with 1:29 to go before Chicago turned it over to end the comeback hopes. "We just couldnt get good shots," guard Kirk Hinrich said. "We had some turnovers, some bobbles. I feel responsible for a lot of those times." The Knicks have been far worse than expected, creating a strange situation before this game where both coaches were asked about the Knicks coaching job. Theres frequent speculation that Woodsons job is in jeopardy, and he acknowledged that the Knicks arent playing as well as last season, though added he thinks they can once they get healthy. Meanwhile, an ESPN.com story suggested that the Knicks would try to get Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, who was an assistant here under Jeff Van Gundy. "I dont pay any attention to any of that stuff," Thibodeau said. "To me, the only thing I have to do is concentrate on our team, our next opponent, our improvement, and never get away from that. You know, theres a lot of stuff that gets thrown out there ... so if you pay any attention, it does no good." Thibodeau went on to say how much he liked his team, though there wasnt much to like when Chicago missed its first 11 shots of the second quarter, turning a 17-15 lead into a 34-17 deficit before Dunleavy ended the drought with a 3-pointer with 5:43 remaining in the period. NOTES: The Bulls had won the last six meetings. They beat the Knicks 11 straight times in the regular season from 1990-92, the longest winning streak in a series that dates to 1966. CORK, Ireland -- Mikko Ilonen opened a two-stroke lead in the Irish Open, while Rory McIlroy missed the cut by a shot Friday at Fota Island. Romelu Lukaku Jersey . Ilonen had a 3-under 68 to reach 10 under. He opened with a course-record 64 on Thursday. The 34-year-old Finn birdied his opening hole, followed with eight straight pars, then had four birdies and two bogeys on the back nine. "I wanted to at least get to 10-under par and I did that," Ilonen said. "It wasnt as easy today and I didnt hit the ball that well but I putted well and it was good enough." Northern Irelands Graeme McDowell (66), Englands Robert Rock (66) and Frances Romain Wattel (65) were tied for second at 8 under, and three-time major champion Padraig Harrington (67) was 6 under. The loss of McIlroy, from Northern Ireland, was a blow to event organizers. He followed his opening 74 with a 69 to miss the cut for the second straight year in the national open. McIlroy had a double bogey on par-5 fourth after his tee shot clipped a tree and ricocheted out of bounds and over the fence into the adjoining Fota Island Wildlife Park. "It feels good, Ive never had one before, not even in College," Hagelin said after the Rangers outgunned the Jets 4-2, behind some solid goaltending from Henrik Lundqvist following a pretty wide open first period.COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Urban Meyer knows that if things dont get better soon his Ohio State Buckeyes might just face more defeats down the road like the one they were handed in front of the biggest home crowd ever. Michael Brewer passed for two touchdowns on Saturday night and Virginia Techs defence stood tough at the end as the Hokies stunned the eighth-ranked Buckeyes 35-21. "I still have confidence that we have enough skill on this football team to get by people," Meyer said. He added: "It didnt look like it (tonight). But we have to get by people or youre going to see what you saw today every week." Keyshoen Jarrett had two interceptions and Donovan Riley returned another 63 yards for a TD in the final minute before a record crowd of 107,517 at enlarged Ohio Stadium. It was a huge win for a Virginia Tech program that had lost 11 games the last two years and had gone from perennial juggernaut to a national afterthought. "I think this is a big, big win for this program, for the status of this program," coach Frank Beamer said. Virginia Tech had talked all week about a spotlight victory to conjure up the programs better days under Beamer, now 226-109-2 in his 28 years in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Hokies definitely did that. But Beamer wasnt talking about a Hokies renaissance. "I dont know," he said when asked if Virginia Tech had regained its national prominence. "We have to build on this win, learn from this win." Brewer led the Hokies (2-0) to a 21-7 lead at the half. After his fumble led to the Buckeyes (1-1) pulling even on Ezekiel Elliotts 15-yard run early in the fourth quarter, he led a 65-yard march capped by his 10-yard scoring pass to Bucky Hodges with 8:44 left. The defence then stymied Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett, the freshman taking over for injured three-year starter Braxton Miller. Miller watched the game from the sidelines, his injured right arm in a sling. Barrett, who looked solid in a come-from-behind 34-17 win over Navy last week, was just 9-of-29 for 219 yards and a touchdown with three interceptions. He led all rushers with 70 yards on 24 carries. His line permitted seven sacks and he was hurried numerous other times. But Meyer refused to point the finger. "There are some weaknesses right now on our team and it was rather obvious what (they are)," he said. "We can play better on both sides." Brewer, meanwhile, handled heavy pressure all day while moving the chains. He was 23-of-36 for 199 yards and the twwo scores with two interceptions. Sven Kums Belgium Jersey. "Hes tough," said fullback Sam Rogers said. "I have complete trust in him." It was Ohio States third loss in its last four games after a school-record 24-game winning streak. They also handed the Big Ten a third embarrassing loss on Saturday night. No. 3 Oregon ran away from seventh-ranked Michigan State 46-27 and No. 16 Notre Dame pounded Michigan 31-0. The rest of the conference went 8-2 earlier in the day against a bunch of underdogs from smaller conferences. After the final seconds ticked off the clock, the Hokies ran to their small section of enthusiastic fans near the closed end of the stadium, smiling, waving and hugging everyone they met. "Its not the last game of the season," Ohio State tight end Jeff Heuerman said. "Theres a long way to go to finish out. Coach Meyers message after the game is theres a lot to accomplish but we have to accomplish it at 11-1." The Hokies relied on co-ordinator Bud Fosters tough, hard-nosed defence to shut down the Buckeyes at the finish. Ohio State drew within a touchdown when Barrett tossed a short pass in the right flat to Michael Thomas, who spun and raced untouched the rest of the way for a 53-yard TD that left the Hokies up 21-14. Then Brewer, who had stared down Ohio States vaunted front all night, got hit from behind on a scramble by end Joey Bosa and fumbled, with Rashad Frazier recovering at the Virginia Tech 15. Two plays later, Elliott took an option pitch around right end and broke three tackles, tying it at 21 with 11:40 left in the fourth quarter. Virginia Tech took over at its own 35 after an Ohio State kickoff went out of bounds. Deon Newsome went 22 yards on an end around and Rogers gained 17 more on a reverse on which he faked a pass and then picked his way downfield. On second and goal from the 10, Brewer fired a low, hard pass to the outside for Hodges to put Virginia Tech up 28-21. The Hokies never flinched when Ohio State made its run. "Hanging our head is something we dont do," Jarrett said. Riley put the icing on the win when he stepped in front of a Barrett pass and raced down the right sideline -- and in front of the Ohio State bench -- for the 63-yard score with 46 seconds left. "Im a little bit surprised. I thought our skilled guys would perform better, I thought wed protect a little better," Meyer said. "Coaches dont get surprised, we get disappointed. Obviously, weve just got to work a little harder." Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Luol Deng has never once forgotten home. Philadelphia Phillies Hoodie . He has spent much of his adult life trying to give back to his native South Sudan, the war-torn African nation the Cavaliers forward and his family fled when he was a young boy. And while Dengs contributions have touched many, he knows the work will never end. "I wish I could wake up tomorrow and nobody needs help," Deng said. "But we all know thats not going to happen. Im just happy to be in the position that Im in to be able to do the things that Im able to do." On Tuesday, Deng was commended for his compassion and dedication when he was named the winner of the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, given annually to an NBA player, coach or trainer for outstanding community service. Deng has had a long commitment to philanthropic work in South Sudan, which gained independence in 2011 but has been ravaged by ethnic violence. The two-time All-Star, who came to Cleveland in a trade from Chicago in January, recently recorded a public service announcement for EnoughProject.org, urging peace in his homeland. In a video directed at the nations youth, Deng says, "Look around you, and reach out. Make peace among those who are fighting. Forgive one another and encourage others to forgive. Build trust with people who fear each other. You are young, and if you are wise, you will build bridges with people your age that will last a lifetime." The video is a small sample of Dengs attempts to help others. The 29-year-old also has established The Luol Deng Foundation, a global non-profit organization using basketball as a platform to bring hope to those less fortunate in Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. His work in Africa has focused on the construction of outdoor courts and initiatives to bring together local communities. His charity work in the U.S. has been focused primarily on his two NBA homes -- Chicago and Cleveland. He has funded holiday events in the cities, providing meals and toys to the needy. He has served as a mentor to the "Lost Boys of Sudan" and supported the NBAs "Basketball Without Borders" program. Deng is the third Cleveland player to win the award, joining Austin Carr (1979-80) and Eric Snow (2004-05). He also joins an illustrious list of past winners, including Dave Bing, Isiah Thomas, Julius Erving, Magic Johnson, Dikembe Mutombo, David Robinson, Kevin Garnett and Steve Nash. The award is named after the leagues second commissioner. Dengs journey to pro stardom is almost unbelievable. One of nine children, he and his family left Sudan and lived as refugees in Egypt before going to England. Cavs coach Mike Brown was fully aware of Dengs background before the forward came to Cleveland. Brown was thrilled that Deng was honoured. "Its well-deserved," Brown said after practice. "From what hes come from and his life experience is off the charts. He told me about it and I was touched. To see where he is now, and for him to know my job is not done, I was one of the fortunate ones. Because of where I am, I have a platform to help bring awareness for others. "Its a remarkable thing. I dont know how he does it. You applaud him. Obviously, you applaud his parents for raising him the way they did. Its an amazing story. I would be surprised if his life story doesnt turn into a Hollywood movie deal someday. Its that special." Deng finds greater reward in helping others. "Its one of those things when I talk to my parents about it, theyll be very proud," said Deng, who has been slowed by a sore back. "I dont have any kids, but its one of those things where, when you have a kid and your kid calls home and tells the parents what award he won, theyll be proud that theyve done a good job. "Its all about helping other people and just doing what makes you happy in life." The last time Rory MacDonald fought in Vancouver, things didnt exactly go as planned. Patrick Mahomes II Youth Jersey . The B.C. native immediately turned heads in a thrilling bout with future interim welterweight champ Carlos Condit at UFC 115 in 2010. Though MacDonald was ahead on the judges scorecards going into the final round, he succumbed to Condits relentless ground-and-pound with only seven seconds left on the clock. While he may have come out on the losing end that night, MacDonalds performance established him as a young fighter to watch. Over the past four years hes largely lived up to the hype, making the leap from prospect to contender. Now that hes poised to make his Vancouver return against Tyron Woodley in the co-main event of UFC 174 Saturday, MacDonald said he has grown both as a fighter and a person. "I was an inexperienced fighter at that point, it was a very big fight and I got a lot of response (from fans)," said MacDonald of his bout with Condit. "So it was a tough, but good learning experience for me as a martial artist and a UFC fighter to deal with that pressure and perform under it. "Since then Ive had a lot of big fights. Ive been able to deal with it great since then. So I see no difference going back there and fighting there again." Though MacDonald has since etched his spot in the welterweight title picture, consistency has been a problem. If he has struggled in one area, its been the frequency within which hes competed. Since joining the UFC roster in early 2010, hes managed only two fights per year due to a variety of injuries. MacDonald has attributed many of these to over-training and not knowing when to dial back his efforts. However, MacDonald appears to have found his groove as of late. His scrap with Woodley not only marks his second of 2014, but also his fourth in the past 12 months. MacDonald said hes finally hit the right balance. "In a years time Ive been very busy and Ive been focused," MacDonald said. "My trainings been good. Ive been training very smart and been able to stay healthy. Obviously there are some injuries that are out of your control, but others are in your control and I think its just up to your experience as a martial artist. You know, growing up in your training and seeing what works for you. Im starting to figure out a rhythm that works for me. "I understand how to warm my body up, how to spar more technically and put less stress on my system. Its been a combination of a lot of things." MacDonald said a big piece of the puzzle has also been separating east coast from west coast. While in Montreal and New York, hes 100 - percent focused on training. However, after each fight, he spends time with family and friends back in B.C. The Tristar fighter said this allows him to recharge his batteries. "I take a month back home after my fights," MacDonald stated. "After all the hard training, I relax, but I also stay busy and stay active. I go into the gyms where I used to train with all the people that I know. I work with them — nothing crazy; just once a day. I spend my time there and enjoy it with family. It makes me happy. When I come out to Montreal and New York, I focus on my training and I feel energized." With his training formula firmly in place, MacDonald said he cant wait to put on a show in his home province. "It feels great," MacDonald began. "I love fighting in Canada and being in Vancouver is even better because after the fight Im right at home. I get to see my family and I dont have to fly anywhere. I also get a lot of recognition there from the fans. "Its going to be a very exciting night. Im very much looking forward to it." Patrick Mahomes II Womens Jersey . Both moves were announced Tuesday. (SportsNetwork. Patrick Corbin Jersey .com) - The Memphis Grizzlies halted a four-game losing streak last time out, but will face a tough test Tuesday night when they host the defending champion San Antonio Spurs. Memphis endured its first four-game losing streak in more than a year, but ended the slide on Saturday night with a 103-95 road victory over the Miami Heat. Mike Conley scored 24 points and led the Grizzlies, followed by Marc Gasol, who had a productive game, scoring 22 points with 10 rebounds to help Memphis to its third road win in its last four. When you are on a losing streak, its easy to find excuses, but I thought that we worked extra hard and gave the extra effort to pull away from the losing streak, Gasol said. Beno Udrih and Tayshaun Prince went for 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Memphis, which played without Zach Randolph (knee) for a fourth straight game. Randolph is listed as questionable for Tuesday. The Grizzlies went on a four-game losing streak after a thrilling, triple- overtime victory over the Spurs almost two weeks ago. Memphis prevailed in that one, 117-116, in San Antonio, based on great play from Randolph. He scored all six Grizzlies points in the third extra session and finished with 21 points and 21 rebounds. The Spurs havent been great recently, thanks, in part to the triple-overtime loss to the Grizzlies. San Antonio dropped another triple-overtime heartbreaker two days after the Memphis loss and has dropped six of its last eight. On Sunday, the Spurs won in a great back-and-forth game against the Houston Rockets, 110-106, in Alamo City. In a game that featured 13 ties and 20 lead changes, the Spurs came out on top thanks to Danny Green, who led San Antonio with 24 points and added five steals to help the Spurs snap a two-game losing streak. Tim Duncan added 16 points and eight rebounds. Manu Ginobili chipped in 15 points off the bench and Cory Joseph scored 14 on 6-of-9 shooting. We didnt play well down the stretch. We made a whole bunch of mistakes, said Duncan. We got a win here, and hopefully that points us in the right direction. San Antonio hit 21-of-24 shots from the free throw line while the Rockets made just 18-of-31 as they lost their two-game winning streak. With the Spurs down four with eight minutes left, Ginobili responded with a reverse layup at the other end of the floor, and that began a 15-0 Spurs run to give them breathing room for the first time in the game. The run was capped by Patty Mills hitting a layup following a Joseph steal. The Rockets had one more run left in them. Over the next four minutes, Houston outscored San Antonio 15-6 to cut its deficit to two points with 12 seconds remaining. After Trevor Arizas contested 3-pointer to make it a 108-106 game, Green made both of his free throws with 10 seconds left. Ariza missed a triple on the following possession to end the game. Tony Parker missed the game with a left hamstring injury and is out on Tuesday. Head coach Gregg Popovich updated his status, saying theres swelling, but Parker should be back soon. Including the 2013 playoffs, the Spurs had won nine straight against the Grizzlies prior to Memphis win on Dec. 17. San Antonio has won five straight in Memphis. Curt Schilling Jersey . CALGARY -- Mike Cammalleri has had a knack for scoring game-winning goals for the Calgary Flames lately. [url=http://www.nbanets

CALGARY -- Mike Cammalleri has had a knack for scoring game-winning goals for the Calgary Flames lately. DAngelo Russell Youth Jersey . Cammalleri has scored 10 times since the National Hockey Leagues trade deadline on March 5 and four of them have been winners, including his goal with 7.8 seconds left in the second period of Calgarys 4-3 win over the New York Rangers at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Friday. "I think it has a lot to do with team play," said Cammalleri, who also scored the shootout winner in Calgarys 2-1 win at home over the San Jose Sharks on Monday. "To get a game winner, you have to win the game. I would think that were doing a lot of things better as a group and thats putting guys in positions where they can do things like that." Joe Colborne, Mark Giordano and Kevin Westgarth also scored for the Flames (31-36-7), who tied a franchise record (set in 2005-06) with their 45th one-goal game of the season. They improved their record to 22-17-8 in those one-goal affairs. "Around the league, were well known," Westgarth said. "Its never going to be an easy game against the Flames. Obviously the season hasnt gone the way that we wanted it to. Playoffs is the goal. Were not there this year. Were looking to spoiler a lot at the end of this season and were looking forward to having a big next year." T.J. Brodie had a pair of assists for Calgary, while goalie Karri Ramo made 38 saves to improve his record to 14-11-4. Brad Richards had a goal and an assist for the Rangers (41-30-4), whose winning streak ended at five games. "We knew coming into this game that Calgary was a very good team at four-man rush and they proved it tonight," said New York coach Alain Vigneault. "We didnt do a good enough job coming back in our zone and picking up the rush and after the rush protecting the front of our net. That led to Grade-A opportunities and they capitalized." Brian Boyle and Raphael Diaz also scored for the Rangers, who sit in second spot in the Metropolitan Division, just one point ahead of the Philadelphia Flyers (39-27-7), who beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 on Friday. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist finished with 24 saves in the New York net. "Theyve been playing well," Lundqvist said of the Flames. "Theyve been beating a lot of good teams. Theyre a fast team. It doesnt matter if you play a team in the playoff race. Guys are playing for pride and for jobs and theyre going to come hard no matter what." The Flames took an early 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Colborne at 4:51 of the first period. After Curtis Glencross wired a wicked shot from the slot off the post, the puck found its way to Colborne, who backhanded a shot over the fallen Rangers goalie. Less than two minutes later, New York appeared to tie the game when Rick Nash threw a puck to the front of the net that bounced off of Martin St. Louiss skate and past Ramo. After review, referee Mike Leggo waved off the goal after it was deemed St. Louis intentionally directed the puck into the net with his skate. Giordano put the Flames up 2-0 at 16:49 of the first when he snapped a shot over Lundqvists glove hand, off the post and in. Late in the opening frame, Ramo made a great glove save to stop a point-blank shot by Derek Stepan, who was left wondering what the Rangers had to do to score. After stopping all 18 shots he faced in the first, Ramo allowed three goals on four shots early in the second. "They came back in the second with three relatively quick ones and that can deflate teams sometimes, but I think thats been a hallmark of our game is that response and the never-say-die attitude," Westgarth said. "Were at this point of the season playing big teams, playing teams with a lot to lose. Its a huge step in the right direction to be in every game and winning a lot of them." Boyle opened the scoring for New York at 2:12 of the second. After swatting a feed from Derek Dorsett off the post behind Ramo, Boyle easily tapped the loose puck in the crease into a wide-open net. Diaz tied the game 39 seconds later when his point shot deflected off Calgarys Kenny Agostino and Tyler Wotherspoon before finding its way into the back of the net behind Ramo. Richards capped off New Yorks goal-scoring spree when he took a pass from Carl Hagelin and beat Ramo with a shot to the top corner to put the Rangers up 3-2. Calgary coach Bob Hartley commended Ramo for keeping his composure after giving up the three quick goals. "He is so strong mentally," Hartley said. "Its almost like a boxer that takes a few good ones on the chin. You get wobbling but with Karri, hes solid, he stayed focused, than came back in the third period with big saves." Calgary tied things up again at 13:49 of the second when Westgarth knocked a loose puck in the crease past Lundqvist. Cammalleri then scored with 7.8 seconds to go before the second intermission when his shot squeaked through Lundqvists pads and across the goal-line. St. Louis had a great chance to tie the game just past the seven-minute mark of the third period, but Ramo made a sprawling save to deny the veteran forward. "I was able to read it pretty well," Ramo said. "Nash didnt really have any other options than to pass it because he was being tripped so I was able to read it." St. Louis has yet to score in 13 games since being acquired from the Tampa Bay Lightning by the Rangers at the trade deadline. He has just three assists in that span. Notes: After taking a hit from Dorsett late in the first period, Calgary defenceman Ladislav Smid left the game with an upper-body injury and didnt return. a The Flames are now 19-7-3 when scoring first this season and 19-4-2 when leading after two periods. a Calgary forward Sean Monahan is stuck on 19 goals in his rookie season. Lets remember, this team were supposed to be nowhere near a 4-1 mark after five games. Grade: CNew York Giants (L 16-23 @ Green Bay)The Giants are sinking, having lost their third straight match. But the blame cant be placed at the feet of Odell Beckham Jr this week, as he notched his first touchdown of the season to bring the Giants back into the game late in the fourth quarter. Grade: D Pick Six: Week Five Neil Reynolds takes a look at the biggest talking points from week five NFC NORTHMinnesota Vikings (W 31-13 v Houston)The only undefeated team left in football. Thats enough to earn them an A+ right there, but add to that the fact that their dominant defence is still yet to allow more than 16 points in a game this season, and their offence is rolling along with back-up QB and RBs in tow. They didnt just beat a decent Houston Texans team, they embarrassed them. Grade: A+ Highlights of the Houston Texans clash with the Minnesota Vikings in week five of the NFL Detroit Lions (W 24-23 v Philadelphia)Detroit snapped a three-game losing skid with a hard-fought win over a previously undefeated Philadelphia. The Lions scored on all three of their possessions in the first half, building a 21-7 lead late in the second quarter, but stalled badly after the break, relying on an interception of Wentz - his first in the NFL - to secure a narrow win late on. Grade: B Highlights of the Philadelphia Eagles clash against the Detroit Lions in week five of the NFL Green Bay Packers (W 23-26 v New York Giants)This Packers team are still a tad unconvincing, despite moving to 3-1 on the season with a good win over the Giants late on Sunday night. Aaron Rodgers play was particularly off colour for much of the contest, with two first-half picks, and a completion percentage that sat below 50 for much of the game. Still, they did enough to get the W. Grade: B- Highlights of the New York Giants clash with the New York Giants in week five of the NFL Chicago Bears (L 23-29 @ Indianapolis)You cant fault the efforts of Brian Hoyer (33 of 43 passing, 397 yards, 2 TDs) and Jordan Howard (118 yards rushing, 45 yards receiving, 1TD), but the Bears somehow still contrived to lose their fourth game on the year. Grade: DNFC SOUTHAtlanta Falcons (W 23-16 @ Denver)How do you follow up a 300-yard receiving game, Julio Jones? Oh, with just 29 yards on two catches. In fairness, Denvers No Fly Zone defence was always likely to provide a stern follow-up, and it mattered little as Atlantas D produced a dominant display of its own, sacking rookie Broncos QB, Paxton Lynch, six times. Grade: A- Highlights of the Atlanta Falcons clash against Denver Broncos in week five of the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers (W 17-14 @ Carolina)The Buccaneers won this but they could, and possibly should have lost it. Erratic decisions from quarterback Jameis Winston put the team under pressure, and kicker Roberto Aguayo missed two field goals before scoring a 38-yard attempt to clinch victory. Fortunately for Tampa, the defence did deliver, forcing four turnovers including an end zone interception. Grade: C+Carolina Panthers (L 17-14 v Tampa Bay)Sorely missing Cam Newtons mobility and ingenuity, the Panthers created winning opportunities but struggled to maintain drives under back-up Derek Anderson. Carolina led the game in rushing and receiving yards despite ten minutes less on the field, but four costly interceptions was enough to hand this one to their divisional rivals. Grade: D-New Orleans Saints (Bye week)NFC WESTArizona Cardinals (W 33-21 @ San Francisco)Drew Stanton threw two touchdown passes to Larry Fitzgerald in his first start for two years, as the Cardinals survived a week without injured starter Carson Palmer. Stanton wasnt exactly exemplary, only completing 11 of 27 for 124 yards, but Arizona didnt turn the ball over, and that was enough to edge out the 49ers. Grade: B Highlights of the Arizona Cardinals clash with the San Francisco 49ers in week five of the NFL Loos Angeles Rams (L 19-30 v Buffalo)The Rams suffered their first defeat in Los Angeles, and their first since their Week One 28-0 stuffing in San Francisco - which seems a long time ago now. Grade: C-San Francisco 49ers (L 21-33 v Arizona)In stark contrast to the Cardinals, the 49ers were error-filled in a winnable game at home against an under-strength Arizona. San Francisco gave up 17 points off three turnovers - two via Blaine Gabbert interceptions, who looks likely to lose his job to Colin Kaepernick any day now. Grade: D-Seattle Seahawks (Bye week)AFC EASTNew England Patriots (W 33-13 @ Cleveland)Welcome back Tom Brady. Looking razor-sharp and rust-free following his four-game Deflategate suspension, Brady went 28 of 40 passing, for 406 yards and three touchdowns to Martellus Bennett. No, not Rob Gronkowski, yet… Grade: A Highlights of New England Patriots clash with the Cleveland Browns in week five of the NFL Buffalo Bills (W 30-19 @ Los Angeles)The Bills edged out the Rams in a battle of two of the NFLs better defences. Though he didnt get the touchdown his display deserved, LeSean McCoys 150 yards on the ground made much of the difference as Buffalo earned their third straight win. Grade: B+ Highlights of the Buffalo Bills clash with the Los Angeles Rams in week five of the NFL New York Jets (L 13-31 @ Pittsburgh)The Jets, meanwhile, have suffered three consecutive defeats since besting the Billis, of all teams, in Week Two. They were utterly blown apart by Big Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday - the veteran QB torching their defence for 380 yards and four touchdowns. Grade: D-Miami Dolphins (L 17-30 v Tennessee)The Dolphins have only an overtime victory over the winless Cleveland Browns to show from their season so far, and with a performance like Sundays its easy to see why. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was particularly poor, with just 191 yards passing and two interceptions. Grade: EAFC NORTHPittsburgh Steelers (W 31-13 v New York Jets)What a stunner from Sammie Coates! Sure, it was Big Ben who got him the ball, but weve already mentioned him (see Jets grade above), and Coates deserves some column inches too. The pacy wide receiver broke off 139 yards from six catches, including two TDs - the first of which he took 72 yards to the house. Grade: A Highlights from the Pittsburgh Steelers clash against the New York Jets in week five of the NFL Baltimore Ravens (L 10-16 v Washington)Offensive co-ordinator, Marc Trestman, has paid with his job after the Ravens lost a second in a row at home, and his offence scored only three points in the contest following a touchdown on their opening possession. On the plus side though Ravens fans, the last time your team made an offensive co-ordinator change mid-season - replacing Cam Cameron with Jim Caldwell - you ended up winning the Super Bowl. Grade: C-Cleveland Browns (L 13-33 v New England)A gutsy effort by an utterly battered and broken Browns squad, that was forced to field its fifth quarterback in five games! Rookie Cody Kessler was knocked out in the first half with rib and chest injuries, seeing quarterback-turned-wide receiver Terrelle Pryor take a few snaps and veteran Charlie Whitehurst come in. The Browns have lost seven straight matches stretching back to last season, and 14 of their last 15. Grade: DCincinnati Bengals (L 14-28 @ Dallas)What has happened to the Bengals team that roared to an 8-0 start last year? In contrast, theyve now dropped three of their first five games in 2016 - the latest courtesy of Dallas dream rookie duo of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. Grade: D-AFC SOUTHTennessee Titans (W 30-17 @ Miami)It was a return to form for second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota, who had previously struggled to make an impact in the early part of the season. Mariota threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score as the Titans earned their first road victory of the season. Highlights of the Tennessee Titans clash with the Miami Dolphins in week five of the NFL Running back DeMarco Murray had over 100 yards for the second time this season, and head coach Mike Mularkey will be hoping this is the turn in Tennessees fortunes. Grade: B+Indianapolis Colts (W 29-23 v Chicago)Coming off a London loss with no bye week was a potential recipe for disaster but Andrew Luck and the Colts did enough against an ailing Bears team. Indianapolis used a no-huddle offence from the beginning which helped the attack, but the defence failed to register a sack while Luck was hit five times. Still plenty of room for improvement. Grade: C Highlights of the Chicago Bears clash with the Indianapolis Colts in week five of the NFL Houston Texans (L 13-31 @ Minnesota)Brock Osweiler really struggled against the Vikings defence, completing just 19 throws from 42 attempts and had only seven yards before Minnesota went 21-0 ahead. Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus impressed once again, but the Texans will have to improve on offence if they want to make the post season again this year. Grade: DJacksonville Jaguars (Bye week)AFC WESTOakland Raiders (W 34-31 v San Diego)Michael Crabtree has done much of the leg work in the early weeks for this talented Raiders receiving corp, and though he again hauled in a touchdown, it was Amari Cooper who finally broke out in 2016, tallying 138 yards and a TD on six receptions. Oakland move to 4-1. Grade: B+ Highlights of the San Diego Chargers clash with the Oakland Raiders in week five of the NFL Denver Broncos (L 16-23 v Atlanta)The Broncos suffered their first loss of the season to the red-hot Atlanta Falcons offence. It was RB duo Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman - not Julio Jones - who they couldnt contain, though. The pair picked up 286 all-purpose yards and two TDs, while Denvers rookie QB, Paxton Lynch, struggled on his NFL debut. Grade: C-San Diego Chargers (L 31-34 @ Oakland)The Chargers find another new way to lose. San Diego built an eight-point second-half lead, lost it in a blink of an eye, but then had the chance to tie the game with a field goal with two minutes remaining only for the snap to slip through the hands of rookie holder, Drew Kaser. The NHLs Mar. Gabi Atletico Madrid Jersey . 5 Trade Deadline is drawing closer and teams will be deciding on whether to buy or sell. Check out todays trade-related reports and speculation from around the NHL beat. And follow TSN.ca through Deadline Day for all the updates. Kings Ransom With the Los Angeles Kings fighting for a Western Conference playoff berth and just three points up on the wild card zone, is it time for general manager Dean Lombardi to pull the trigger on a deal? The Hockey News looks back at one of Lombardis shrewdest moves - sending Jack Johnson and a first rounder to the Blue Jackets in exchange for Jeff Carter in 2012 – and wonders if the same type of shake-up is available this season. Former Kings Matt Moulson and Mike Cammalleri would work - THN muses - but even a cheaper option like Brad Boyes could also do the trick. Not Going Wild The Minnesota Wild turned heads at the 2013 trade deadline by letting go of prime assets like Johan Larsson, Matt Hackett and a pair of high draft picks for then-Sabres captain Jason Pominville. So, naturally, surrendering all those future assets would naturally take them out of the running to add a major piece this year, right? Not necessarily so, says Wild GM Chuck Fletcher. He told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he intends to be more cautious this deadline, but that he wont say no to the right deal. "In a perfect world, I dont want to trade first-round picks in consecutive years," Fletcher told the Star-Trib. "If opportunities come up, sometimes you have to do things, and this first round isnt as deep and our scouts always seem to deliver no matter what picks I leave them with. But it would have to be something pretty special. Id like our guys to have a first-rounder this year." Blue Line Bolts Thanks to injuries on the blue line including Mattias Ohlund and Brian Lee, the Tampa Bay Lightning find themselves with a defence budget to work with ahead of the deadline. With about $3 million in available cap space, the Tampa Bay Times envisions the Bolts looking for a blue line stalwart to help the likes of Victor Hedman and Mark Barberio. The Islanders Andrew MacDonald and Detroits Kyle Quincey headline the Times wishlist. MacDonald averages the seventh-highest ice-time in the league while Quincey - a more expensive rental option would be a more stay-at-home pick-up. Kevin Gameiro Jersey . Thats 14 consecutive losses to the two-time defending champs, and most of them were over before they even began. Result notwithstanding, Sundays game had a very different feel to it.PORTLAND, Ore. -- Its unusual for the Trail Blazers to talk about being frustrated with a win. But Portland, which ended last season with a 13-game losing streak, is off to a 5-2 start and taking a hard look at its early success -- with an eye on improvement. After a 109-103 victory over Detroit on Monday, the Blazers were concerned by a late push by the Pistons that brought them within three points after Portland had built a 13-point, second-half lead. "We cant relax and let a team get back like that," Nicolas Batum said. Robin Lopez warned about being complacent: "Thats something we need to fend off. We need to be mentally tougher, mentally stronger. " But Damian Lillard, who rebounded from a rough shooting night in the Blazers previous game to score 25 points, said this season Portland is better equipped to fight off late opponent runs. "Last year some games wed have an answer and get a big win and other times wed let the game get away from us," Lillard said. "Now weve got a different level of confidence in those situations and we expect to win those games." Brandon Jennings had 28 points and four rebounds for Detroit. Acquired by the Pistons in an off-season sign-and-trade with Milwaukee, Jennings came into the game the game needing one rebound for 1,000 in his career, and one point for 5,000. Jennings alley-oop layup from Rodney Stuckey pulled the Pistons within 107-103 with 1:28 left. After he stole the ball from Lillard and was fouled by Batum, Jennings drove to the basket but missed a layup and fouled Lillard on the rebound. Lillard made free throws for the final margin and Stuckey missed a 3-pointer on the other end. "Its very difficult. We knew coming in they were a team that takes a lot of 3s," Jennings said. "They were on fire tonight." The Blazers made 11 3-pointers, including five from Lillard. It was Portlands sixth straight victory at home over the Pistons. The Trail Blazers were coming off a pair of victories over the Sacramento Kings in a home-and-away back-to-back. Lillard, last seasons NBA Rookie of the Year, was 1 of 15 from the floor with four points in the Blazers 96-85 victory on Saturday night. &quoot; When players like that have a bad game you know they rarely have two consecutive bad games," Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said. Jan Oblak Atletico Madrid Jersey. "Hes a confident player and shooter and tonight he showed that." Portland was one of just five teams in the NBA with two players averaging more than 20 points. LaMarcus Aldridge was averaging 23.3 points and Lillard was averaging 20.5 heading into the game. Aldridge finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds against Detroit. His 15-footer that put the Blazers out in front 20-11 in the first quarter. Portland held onto the lead through the second, going up 38-30 on Dorell Wrights layup. Detroit came back with a 13-4 run capped by Stuckeys 3-pointer to pull ahead 43-42. Greg Monroes jumper knotted the score at 51 but Lillard answered with a 3-pointer and the Blazers went on to lead 58-55 at the half. Aldridge made an acrobatic layup and Joel Freeland added a basket to give the Blazers a 77-70 lead late in the third quarter. Andre Drummonds alley-oop dunk narrowed it to 83-80 for the Pistons to open the fourth quarter. Lopezs slam off Batums no-look pass with 4:29 left gave the Blazers their biggest lead of the game at 104-92. Lopez, acquired by the Blazers in a three-team trade this summer from New Orleans, finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Afterward, Aldridge joked: "His mom is here. Shes staying the rest of the season." Charlie Villanueva made his season debut for the Pistons after returning from a shoulder injury and had two points. Drummond had 16 points and 16 rebounds. Detroit was coming off a 119-110 loss to Oklahoma City on Friday night. Jennings had his first double-double with the Pistons with 22 points and 11 assists against the Thunder. Notes: Cheeks was coach of the Blazers for three-plus seasons from 2001-05. ... Rasheed Wallace, who played for the Blazers from 1996-2004, is an assistant on Cheeks staff. ... The Blazers and the Pistons split their series last season, with each team winning at home. ... The Blazers have made at least eight 3-pointers in all of their games this season, the teams longest streak ever. ... Aldridges 11th rebound tonight was the 4,000th of his career. Asked if his chase of Suarez was over, Wenger says "yes. Absolutely no chance of that." Arsenal has seen two offers for Suarez, the second in excess of 40 million pounds ($62 million), rejected by Liverpool. Arsenal has been criticized by its fans for signing only one player -- young French striker Yaya Sanogo -- in the off-season despite having increased cash resources this year. JOHNS, N.MONTREAL -- Carey Price can relax -- his Labrador retrievers are back home. The Montreal Canadiens goaltenders dogs Motty ("short for Mozart" and Duke got loose overnight. But, after word went out on Twitter, both were found and returned Monday morning. "I was preoccupied and they snuck out the garage doors," Price said. "They turned up this morning. "Its not the first time and its probably not the last time." The dogs were found by John Mastromonaco, who happened to be listening to TSN 690 in Montreal on Monday morning and heard an item about the missing dogs. "When I left the house at 6:15 a.m., I heard that Carey Price lost his dogs in Candiac, he lost his two labs," Mastromonaco told The Canadian Press. "Almost at the same time, I see this jogger with two Labradors following him, but the dogs didnt look like they were with him." After checking with the jogger, Mastromonaco realized hed happened on the goaltenders dogs. Candiac is a suburb south of Montreal. After trying to reach Price through the radio station, Mastromonaco said he called the number on the dog tag, which happened to be Prices wife. She directed him to the couples home where Price answered the door and gave him an autographed stick. It was around midnight that Price tweeted that the dogs were missing. "Actually it was my wife that suggested it," he said of the tweet. "It was actually a good idea. Shes smarter than me. "I think its good karma because I picked up a dog four or five months ago and returned it to the owner. What goes around, comes around." Both starting goalies in the Montreal-Boston playoff series lost sleep on the same night. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rasks girlfriend gave birth to a daughter either late Sunday or early Monday. TORONTO - Drake stood from his courtside seat, his arms over his head motioning for the sellout crowd to get on their feet as the final buzzer sounded and his iconic anthem, "Started From The Bottom" blared over the Air Canada Centre loudspeakers. Mike Williams Womens Jersey . The Raptors global ambassador was the guest of honour on Saturday but - as he explained to the hoard of media that assembled in front of him before the game - he did not want the evening to be about him, although the night was in fact titled Drake Night. It could have been and very nearly turned out to be a sideshow. The Toronto-born recording artist handed out free shoes while his DJ entertained a captivated audience of 19,800 at halftime. Moments later the buzz that had filled the arena abruptly disappeared as the Raptors came out flat in the third quarter, trailing by as many as 10 to the division-rival Brooklyn Nets, winners of their previous five contests. In the end, Drake asked for noise and the ACC faithful obliged, saluting the team and its ambassador. The Raptors had earned it, putting on a show of their own and sending their fans home with more than just a black and gold OVO T-shirt. "I think we just got a spark there," coach Dwane Casey said after the Raptors closed out the game on a 40-18 run to defeat the Nets 96-80. "I thought our guys showed mental toughness and won a slug-out game, which I dont know if we could have won a couple months ago, no less last year. [Its] a testament to our guys mental growth and mental toughness to win a game like that." "We stayed patient," said DeMar DeRozan, who led all scorers with 26 to go along with seven rebounds and a team-high five assists. "We knew they were going to make a run, especially in the second half and we understood that. We stayed disciplined, understood we had to get stops, rebound the ball and push it." DeRozan scored the last seven points of the third and first two of the fourth as the Raptors began to take advantage of a veteran Nets team that had played a double overtime game against the defending champions a night earlier. Toronto held the visitors without a point for over seven minutes of game time and without a field goal for over nine minutes during a 22-1 run midway through the final frame. Despite their 41 per cent field goal shooting and just 16 assists, the Raptors were able to get out in transition - besting the Nets 13-6 on the break - and take advantage of Kevin Garnetts absence on the boards (the 37-year-old was rested on the second night of back-to-back). As a team the Raptors grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, five of them from Patrick Patterson, who continued to be a game-changer off Torontos bench. The Raptors outscored Brooklyn by 40 with Patterson on the floor Saturday. He finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds while fellow reserve John Salmons added 13, connecting on all five of his shots. The Nets and their rookie head coach Jason Kidd were struggling when they visited Toronto in late November, having lost five in a row before narrowly defeating the Raptors. This time around, they came to town riding a five-game winning streak, which included impressive victories over the Heat, Warriors and Thunder. Without Garnett, Deron Williams (nursing an ankle injury) and Brook Lopez (out for the season after foot surgery) in the lineup on the second night of a grueling back-to-back, Toronto seized another opportunity during this crucial stretch against sub-.500 teams. The Raptors have now won seven of their past nine contests overall and five of their last six at home, pulling within one-game of third place Atlanta in the Eastern Conference standings. With some assistance from Drake, the in-arena atmosphere reflected the teams recent success on Saturday and did not go unnoticed by those in the locker room. "I definitely think (Drake) succeeded," Amir Johnson said. "He got fans hyped, they had some sweet t-shirts in the crowd, everybodys screaming, every play everybody seemed like they were standing up cheering for us and thats what we need from our fans." "The atmosphere was great, I hope we can continue having that. Weve got to keep winning though." Accompanied by an entourage that included Tim Leiweke and Masai Ujiri before the game, Drake showed off his suit jacket, lined with a retro Vince Carter jersey. He also pitched in during the pre-game introductions, announcing the Raptors starters with his own unique twist. "Tonights not really about me, despite the title of the night," he said. "I think its just more about the momentum in the city, bringing the city together, how well these guys have been playing, honouring this squad that is really finding [itself], finding stability with each other and the revamp of this team." He has a lot of versatility to play multiple positions on the field, which certainly is attractive to us.” Kuhn, who has played both corner outfield positions, second and third base and shortstop during hiss career, had a banner campaign in 2011 in the Chicago White Sox organization with Class AA Birmingham of the Southern League. REGINA -- The players wont be the only ones in a huddle at Sundays Grey Cup. Terrence Ross Raptors Jersey . Thousands of fans at Mosaic Stadium will be cozying up to each other in an effort to stay warm in chilly temperatures and block the Prairie wind that locals say can knock your socks off. "Saskatchewans notorious for its wind," says Trevor Norgan, assistant manager of Fresh Air Experience, an outdoor clothing and equipment store in Regina. "Theres not a lot of shelter because we dont have a lot of trees and things, so it just really continues across the entire province. So you get these cold fronts that come in and the key thing that I have found is if a person can stay comfortable, and basically block the wind but have a little bit of insulation, thats the key ingredient." When the Saskatchewan Roughriders hosted the CFL West Division semifinal against the B.C. Lions on Nov. 10, Environment Canada said the temperature at halftime was -15 C. It was a biting -21 C with the windchill. The weather this week in Regina has been bitterly cold with Wednesdays high -17 C. A bit of relief may be coming with temperatures expected to rise to just below zero by gameday, though the low for Sunday is -14. Norgan recommends layers to stay warm. He starts with a lightweight base layer shirt in a merino wool because it can wick away moisture and doesnt smell the way a synthetic material can, and tops that with a fleece sweater. Those can be followed by down sweaters and a windproof exterior shell "to block that great Saskatchewan wind we have here" or a down-filled parka. The bottom is just as important, says Norgan. For the legs, longjohns are a must. Ski or snow pants that block wind are a plus too. Norgan says children and women may need to dress a little bit warmer because they tend to feel the cold more then men, but "it just depends how rambunctious and active you are during the game." "The important thing is basically to stay comfortable because you want to enjoy the experience at the game. Its one of those things where you dont want to feel that youre cold or you dont want to feel that you wished you had something else," says Norgan. Dave Ash, a tour organizer and super fan who is best known for wearing a flashing green light mounted on a Riders helmet, swears by goose down-filled jackets. Of course, Ash tops all of that with a Saskatchewan Roughriders jersey big enough to fit over the parka. "As part of any Grey Cup festivities, the most important thing is a little survival kit," says Ash. "Inside youll have a warming blanket, but the most important things are these two items: handwarmers and toe warmers -- a must for Grey Cup. Youre going to be outside in the cold for three hours. The only way to fight the cold is with heat, remember that." Ash says another must is a seat cushion to separate your bum from the cold benches at Mosaic Stadium. The Regina tour organizer, who has been to 38 consecutive Grey Cups and plans to be there on Sunday, says the coldest was probably the first Grey Cup he attended in Calgary in 1975. "It was really cold and there was a streaker at that game," Ash says with a laugh. "It was really cold." Norgan remembers going to the Grey Cup as a kid in 1995 and its the cold that stands out for him too. "It was shocking, like I couldnt describe it any more than shocking," recalls Norgan. "I can remember the wind was so vicious that if somebody moved four or five seats down, you could feel the wind coming up, so it was actually a community effort to stay warm. "You see the athletes huddling on the side. You can everybody else in the stands huddling as well." Bruno Caboclo Jersey .
