TORONTO -- Toronto Mayor Rob Ford posed for dozens of pictures, walked arm in arm with drunken fans, and hoisted a tin-foil Grey Cup over his head. Torontos embattled mayor showed up at Rogers Centre on Sunday to watch his Argonauts lose the East final to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 36-24, ignoring a request from the CFLs commissioner that he stay away. And when Toronto police officers and security personnel finally had the smiling mayor safely through a mob of fans and into his black Cadillac SUV after the game, Ford rolled down his window and high-fived people as he was driven away. The Argonauts were leading 24-17 when Ford arrived shortly after halftime, wearing a blue Argos No. 12 jersey, with "Mayor Ford" written in block letters on the black. His arrival caused a commotion in Section 129, where he posed for pictures, and dozens of people stood to snap photos or try to get a better look at the mayor that has been making international headlines. One female Ticats fan seated nearby held a sign that read: "Our mayors better than yours." Flanked by security officials and a half a dozen police officers, Ford left in the final seconds of the game, but was mobbed on his way out, at one point being pinned against the wall outside wall of the Rogers Centre by the swarming crowd when he stopped to pose for a picture. A couple of fanss were knocked over in the melee as police attempted to clear a path to usher the mayor out. Nike Roshe One Hyperfuse Qs. Some fans hurled derogatory comments, but many yelled their support, a few pumping their fists in the air and chanting "Rob Ford! Rob Ford!" Ford tweeted after the game "Congrats to @Ticats for winning the #CFL East Division final." A big football fan, Mayor Ford had shared the stage in front of City Hall with the Argos at last years Grey Cup parade to celebrate the Argonauts CFL championship victory over the Calgary Stampeders. But he more than wore out his welcome with the team this week when he wore his Argos jersey during a media scrum in which he used sexually graphic language on live television. The CFL team released a statement later in the day, calling the situation "unseemly at best." CFL commissioner Mark Cohon strongly suggested he stay away, and Argos executive chairman and CEO Chris Rudge said the team would not be inviting the Mayor. The Ford family has deep football roots. The mayor served as a volunteer high school football coach with the Don Bosco Eagles until he was dropped by the Toronto District Catholic School Board last May. Krista Ford, the mayors niece and the daughter of city councillor Doug Ford, was a captain of Torontos short-lived team in a lingerie football league. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

TORONTO - It didnt take long for the Raptors to address their top priority of the summer. Nike Roshe Run Blauw Dames . Less than 48 hours after the July 1 free agency window opened, the Raptors reached an agreement with their star point guard Kyle Lowry, bringing him back to Toronto for four more years at a reported $48 million, according to several outlets and confirmed by Lowry himself over Twitter. "Toronto will be my home city," the 28-year-old tweeted Wednesday evening, along with a picture of himself decked out in retro Raptors gear. The deal has an early termination option in the final year, allowing Lowry to become an unrestricted free agent after the third season if he chooses. Although the contract has been agreed to in principle, it cant be signed or made official until the NBAs moratorium period is lifted on July 10. Lowry spent the day mulling over Torontos offer and weighing his options with his family and agent after meeting with Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri and head coach Dwane Casey Tuesday afternoon in his hometown of Philadelphia. The Raptors point guard was visited by members of the Rockets front office, also receiving interest from the Heat and Mavericks. Ultimately, he opted to return to the team he helped lead to a division title, at a significant pay raise from what he was making when he enjoyed a career season in 2013-14. Earning $6.2 million last year, Lowry registered career-highs of 17.9 points, 7.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds while narrowly missing out on what would have been his first all-star selection during a breakout campaign with the Raptors. Entering his prime, the eight-year vet will be the eighth highest paid point guard in the league next season after finishing third in Win Shares among players at his position last year. His new contract will be more than twice the size of his previous one, a four-year, $23.5 million deal signed in 2010. Lowry has earned a total of $28.8 million over the first eight years of his career. Although a deserved raise played a role in his decision to re-sign - the Raptors had the advantage of being able to pay him more than any other team - Lowry became entrenched as a leader with the team both on the court and in the locker room, endearing himself to the city with his hard play. "At the end of the day its still a business and you have to be a businessman for the situation that youre in," he had said the afternoon after his team was eliminated in the opening round of the playoffs. "But I am very happy. This has been one of the best seasons Ive had, through and through. Best coaches, teammates, [front office]. Its been great. I am happy. Without a doubt I can say Im happy." "I love this place," he continued. "I love the situation. Its simple as that." For that very reason his return was hardly in doubt, though Raptors fans are generally conditioned to hope for the best and fear for the worst. The Raptors front office, coaching staff and even Lowrys teammates remained confident a deal would get done throughout the process but he did have other viable options to consider, given his desire to compete for a championship and his status as this summers most coveted point guard. Bringing him back, amid the long-time perception that players dont want to be in Toronto, is a major coup for a Raptors franchise that is determined to change their culture under the leadership of Ujiri and MLSE boss Tim Leiweke. The Raptors acquired Lowry in a trade from Houston during the summer of 2012 after he fell out of favour with Rockets coach Kevin McHale. Despite a turbulent first season in Toronto, one that saw him battle injury and feud with Coach Casey, Lowry came to training camp in the best shape of his playing career and took his game to a new level after a pre-season meeting with Ujiri sparked his competitive nature. With the Raptors contemplating a rebuild following the December trade of Rudy Gay, Lowrys best friend, Ujiri nearly moved the point guard in a deal that would have sent him to New York. Fuelled by Lowrys breakout, the resurgent Raptors continued to win and Ujiri slowly became a believer. Last season, Ujiris first at the helm of the Raptors, was always supposed to be a "show me" year for Lowry. Ujiri had always promised to be fair to Lowry and maintained he would be given the platform to sink or swim. Like any other investment, Lowry is a calculated risk but the Raptors are betting the 2013-14 version will be more of the norm than an anomaly going forward. Prioritizing continuity this offseason, Ujiri can now shift his focus to re-signing restricted free agents Patrick Patterson and Greivis Vasquez, both of whom should attract varying degrees of interest on the open market. If retained, the Raptors wont have much more than their mid-level exception to spend and could flirt with the luxury tax this coming season. Marian Gaborik had two goals and an assist and Martin Jones made just 17 saves to record his fourth shutout of the season as the Kings snapped a three-game losing skid with a 3-0 victory over the lowly Oilers on Thursday.Stillwater, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - LeBryan Nash and Phil Forte III carried Oklahoma States offense and the rest of the Cowboys complemented that with a lockdown defensive effort in their 69-58 win over No. 10 Texas on Saturday. Nash and Forte both scored 20 points for the Cowboys (12-3, 2-1 Big 12), who were coming off a hard-fought loss at Iowa State on Tuesday. They recovered by making nine 3-pointers and limiting Texas to 34.4 percent shooting. Anthony Hickey Jr. did his part with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Myles Turner paced Texas (12-4, 1-2) with 18 points off the bench, while Demarcus Holland and Isaiah Taylor contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively. Jonathan Holmes missed all 10 of his shots and was held scoreless as the Longhorns dropped their second straight. They were five days removed from dropping a home game against No. 16 Oklahoma, a game that saw them score justt 49 points on 30 percent shooting. Nike Roshe One Br Heren Schoenen. It was no more than a two-possession game during a first half that featured six ties and five lead changes. The difference came in the second half when Oklahoma State made six of its 3- pointers, two coming from Forte after the score was even at 39-39 about seven minutes in. The Cowboys never trailed again and went ahead 58-50 after Tavarius Shine hit from the perimeter with just over four minutes to play. Forte added another one the next time down, sank a tough stepback jumper from the top of the key and stole an inbounds pass all in a two-minute span to keep the hosts comfortably ahead the rest of the way. DETROIT -- Now in his fourth season, Rick Porcello has a lot of experience for a 23-year-old. Andres Correa Sounders Jersey . Detroit hopes hes finally ready to become one of the games elite pitchers. Porcello threw seven solid innings on a snowy afternoon at Comerica Park, and Detroits powerful offence finally broke through in the eighth Tuesday to give the Tigers a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Miguel Cabrera doubled and scored on Prince Fielders single, part of a decisive three-run rally. Porcello allowed two runs and seven hits, working at a comfortable pace in the chilly weather. "I dont think I even realized how fast I was going," Porcello said. "I was throwing strikes and I guess wanted to keep that going." After Fielders tiebreaking single, a light snow shower passed briefly over Comerica Park. Jhonny Peralta added a sacrifice fly and Gerald Laird followed with an RBI single for a three-run lead. Phil Coke (1-0) pitched the eighth in relief of Porcello, and Jose Valverde finished for his first save of the season. Valverde blew a save chance for the first time since 2010 in Thursdays opener against Boston. Austin Jackson homered for Detroit, the ALs last unbeaten team after handing the Rays their first defeat. Porcello struck out four and walked one in a game that began amid snow flurries with the temperature in the 40s. Although the Tigers scored 26 runs in a three-game sweep of Boston, their starting pitching was already becoming a concern. Doug Fister went on the disabled list with a left side strain, and Max Scherzer couldnt make it out of the third inning in his start Sunday. Porcello went 14-9 as a rookie in 2009, but he posted ERAs of 4.92 and 4.75 the last two years. On Tuesday, he settled into a nice rhythm in an encouraging effort. "He commanded the fastball on both sides of the plate and when he does that, he pitches like he did today," said Laird, Detroits catcher. "Running sinkers in on them and then sinkers away, they didnt know what to look for. Throwing his offspeed pitches off that, I definitely think its a great building point for him." Tampa Bays Matt Moore allowed two runs and four hits in 6 2-3 innings. He walked five -- one intentionally -- and struck out four in his second career regular-season start. The 22-year-old also started a playoff game last year, not long after making his debut. The Rays intentionally walked Cabrera in the fifth to load the bases for Fielder, and the move worked when he lifted a routine fly to left that ended the inning. With first base open in the eighth, Tampa Bay chose to pitch to Fielder. He singled up the middle off Jake McGee (0-1), and Cabrera lumbered around to score for a 3-2 lead. "I liked the lefty-lefty matchup with Prince," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. "Prince hit the ball in the perfect spot." Tampa Bay had gone ahead 2-1 in the seventh on an RBI infield single by Desmond Jennings, but Jackson homered in the bottom half off Moore. Detroit has won its first four games -- three in its final at-bat. The Rays lost for the first time after a three-game sweep of the New York Yankees. It was their first regular-season loss in nine games. They won their last five of 2011 to snatch a surprising playoff berth. Tampa Bay opened the scoring in the third when Evan Longoria drew a bases-loaded walk. Detroit tied it in the bottom half when Moores wild pitch enabled Jackson to score. "I choked on a changeup and bounced it," Moore said. "That was just an awful pitch." NOTES: Tampa Bay OF Luke Scott missed the game and is day to day with a tight left hamstring. ... JOHNS, N. HOUSTON -- Los Angeles coach Mike DAntoni paid a lot of attention to former Lakers centre Dwight Howard down the stretch. He needed to get the ball out of the hands of Houston Rockets guard James Harden and figured the best way to do that was with the "Hack-a-Howard" defence. The strategy worked perfectly with Howard missing seven late free throws to allow the Lakers to keep it close before Steve Blake hit a wide-open 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds remaining to lift them to a 99-98 victory Thursday night. "I think it went real well because we took Harden out of the game," DAntoni said. Howard spurned the Lakers to sign an $88 million deal with Houston, joining Harden and a team that made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2009. A sombre Howard called his free throw shooting "terrible," but wouldnt concede that this loss was more difficult because it was against his former team. "Every loss hurts," said Howard, who had 15 points and 14 rebounds. "Nobody likes to lose. Its very upsetting that we lost the way we did." DAntonis decision to foul Howard was surprising because last season he said that the hack-a-whoever defence was bad for the game. "That doesnt mean youre not going to use it, if its out there," he said. "Im not crazy." Houston led by two points before Blake took the inbounds pass from Jodie Meeks and made the game-winning shot. The Rockets were disappointed they let Blake get free for the winning basket. "Guys just kind of messed up on the play," Howard said. "It happens." The Rockets had a chance to win it, but Patrick Beverleys 3-point attempt at the buzzer bounced off the backboard. "I was in a rhythm and then they started fouling Dwight," said Harden, who scored 35 points. "It kind of slows us down. It slows our pace down and what we like to do. Good coaching." The Rockets took their first lead since the first quarter on a dunk by Chandler Parsons following a steal by Harden that made it 93-91 with about 4 minutes left. Parsons left his arms outstretched as he came down from the dunk to wild applause from the home crowd. Harden had tied it up about a minute earlier on a 3-pointer. The Lakers started fouling Howard every time he touched the ball after that, sending him to the line 12 times, but he made just five. Meeks, who led the Lakers with 18 points, made a 3-pointer with less than 2 minutes remaining to cut the lead to two. Marco Pappa Sounders Jersey. The Lakers struggled all last season amid reports that Howard and Kobe Bryant didnt get along, and were swept in the first round of the playoffs. Los Angeles could have offered him a 5-year contract worth $118 million, but he chose to make the move to Houston with a four-year deal. "He made his choice, which is good," DAntoni said of Howard. "Youve got to respect that. Hes fine and theyre going to have a great team. Youre just happy for everybody because we won." The Lakers extended their lead to 14 points on a jump shot by Chris Kaman with about 8 minutes left in the third quarter. Houston finally got its offence going after that, going on a 15-3 run to get within 74-72 with 3 minutes left in the quarter. A highlight in that span came when Howard bobbled a bad pass from Harden before getting a handle on it and spinning around to finish with a dunk. The Rockets got eight points from Jeremy Lin during that run and the Lakers had three turnovers. Wesley Johnson made a 3-pointer to cool off the Rockets, but a 3-pointer by Harden just near the end of the quarter cut the lead to 81-77. Houston shot just under 35 per cent and made just two of 13 3-point attempts in the first half. But the Rockets stayed in the game by making 18 of 27 free throws -- 25 in the second quarter alone -- before halftime. The Lakers didnt share in Houstons long-range shooting woes in the first half, hitting 11 of 14 3-point attempts. The Lakers led by 17 points early in the second quarter before Houston used a 13-5 spurt capped by seven points from Harden to cut the lead to 45-36 about 7 1-2 minutes before halftime. Hardens seven points came in just 35 seconds. He made the second of two free throws before hitting a 3-pointer seconds later. Howard got a rebound on the other end and Harden made a layup. He was fouled on the shot and made the free throw. Harden made five more free throws in the last 1:19 of the first half, but 3-pointers by Steve Nash and Meeks extended the Lakers lead to 64-50 at halftime. CLEVELAND -- As shot after shot dropped through the net, it became clear LeBron James was going to have one of those special nights. Devin Funchess Womens Jersey . The kind he has every so often. The kind he has when Dwyane Wade sits. James scored 43 points -- 25 in a bewildering first-quarter shooting display -- and Chris Bosh added 21, leading the Miami Heat to a 100-96 win Tuesday night over the Cleveland Cavaliers, who played their first game without injured All-Star guard Kyrie Irving. With Wade out resting his sore knees, James took it upon himself to carry the Heat. The same thing happened on March 3 and James responded by scoring a career-high 61 against Charlotte. "I dont know, its one of those zones," James said, trying to explain how he made 10 of 11 shot and five 3-pointers in the dizzying opening quarter. "When I started the game off, I felt like I could have gone for 50 or 60." James added two crucial blocks and dropped six free throws in the final two minutes, and Bosh had a key rejection to lead the Heat to just their third win in eight games. With Wade out, the Heats two other megastars picked up the slack. Jarrett Jack scored 22 and Dion Waiters added 17 and 11 assists for Cleveland, which was also without starting forward Luol Deng (sprained ankle). Irvings expected to miss two weeks with a strained biceps tendon, an injury that further damages the Cavs fading playoff hopes. Cleveland fell six games behind Atlanta for the final playoff spot. "Our guys hung in there and they competed," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. After one quarter, it was: James 25, Cavs 25. And like the other 20,000 plus in attendance, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra marveled at James accuracy. "That had nothing to do with me," Spoelstra said. "Truth be told, its not like Im absolutely in love with those type of plays, but he had it rolling. So I took a step back for a little bit." The four-time MVP had 31 points at halftime and 37 after three quarters, but the Heat entered the final 12 minutes tied as they were unable to shake off the Cavs, who shot 60 per cent from the floor through three and had all five starters in double figures. With James content to distribute the ball, Bosh scored nine straight points to put Miami ahead 93-88 with 2:24 remaining. Cleveland cut it to three on a basket by Anderson Varejao and had a chance to get closer but James -- with an assist from Udonis Haslem -- snuffed a dunk attempt by Spencer Hawes. Just 11 seconds later, Bosh turned away Waiters and James made a pair of free throws to make it 95-90 with 1:06 remaining. After empty possessions by both teams, James blocked a drive by Waiters and Bosh split a pair of free throws, giving the Heat a 96-90 lead. Jack made two 3-pointers in the final 15.7 seconds, but both times James answered by hitting two free throws to close it out. Spoelstra was most pleased with Miamis defence down the stretch. "Probably my favourite play was the double block," he said. "U.D. and L.J. going for that. It should be a layup. It should be a dunk. To make that play, those are the things I like to see." James improved to 13-1 against the Cavaliers, the team he left after seven seasons as a free agent in 2010. James made his first six shots -- four of them 3s -- and showed most of his offensive repertoire in the first quarter. He hit fadeaways, runners and a thunderous breakaway dunk. The only shot James missed came on a "heat-check" 3-pointer from way beyond the arc. "Thats what makes LeBron unique in this league," Spoelstra said. "In todays age, there are players who would be looking for numbers with that type of start to see if you can go for 70. LeBrons just trying to play the game the right way. It takes great maturity. Hes selfless." It was James second visit to Cleveland in 10 days. He had been back on March 8, when former teammate Zydrunas Ilgauskas had his jersey retired by the Cavs, who may one day raise the No. 23 James wore to the rafters of Quicken Loans Arena. Much pregame hype focused on the All-Stars future. James can opt out of his contract with Miami this summer and become a free agent, and one of his possible destinations could be Cleveland. Asked directly if he wants to play for his former team again, James was noncommittal. "As of right now, its too hard for me to think about," he said. "We have 20 or less games before we gear up for no sleep for two months, hopefully. So for me to try and take my mind somewhere else when I know whats on its way is almost impossible." NOTES: Wade will be re-evaluated Wednesday when the Heat visit Boston. ... James has yet to fill out his NCAA tournament brackets and didnt seem to be in a hurry to do it anytime soon. "Im terrible," he said. He was then reminded about the $1 billion Gilbert and tycoon Warren Buffett are offering for anyone who picks the games perfectly. Doesnt he want the billion? "No," James said. "Im just going to ask him for it." Its unclear whether he meant Gilbert or Buffett. ... Spoelstra intends to keep C Greg Oden in the starting lineup, a drastic change for Miami, which has favoured smaller, shooter-heavy lineups. Oden made his third start and finished with six points in 14 minutes. Most important, perhaps, it went off without a hitch. Organizers poked a little fun at the now-infamous opening ceremony gaffe that saw only four out of five snowflakes open up into rings, leaving the Olympics logo one ring short. VANCOUVER -- Suffering their worst loss of the season to the best team in the league gave the Vancouver Whitecaps an idea of how much they need to improve to be competitive in Major League Soccer. Landon Donovan scored two goals, one off a penalty kick, and assisted on another as the L.A. Galaxy embarrassed the Whitecaps 4-0 Saturday on their home turf at Empire Field. For 30 minutes the expansion Whitecaps held their own. But any thoughts of an upset quickly disappeared after Donovan scored his first goal in the 61st minute. "It just started to go south," said Vancouver midfielder Peter Vagenas, who came on as a second-half substitution. "We gave up truly three amateur level goals. "At some point . . . its got to sting your ego a bit. Youre not going to be in this league, on this team or being paid to do this, if you line up a lot of losses like this. At some point its about personal pride. I can assure you, guys are pretty devastated right now." Midfielder Sean Franklin in the 85th minute and Adam Cristman in the 90th minute also scored for the Galaxy. It was the fourth time in five games L.A. has won in a shutout. A sellout crowd of 27,500 filled the stands at Empire Field on a warm summer afternoon. They were denied the chance to see Galaxy superstar David Beckham, who was serving a one-game suspension after accumulating eight yellow cards on the season. The game was a battle of first against worst. The Galaxy lead the league with a 12-2-9 record. They are riding the crest of a 8-0-6 unbeaten streak. The Whitecaps are last in the MLS with a 2-11-9 record. Vancouver is 0-5-1 since a June 18 win over Philadelphia at home. It was the first time this season Vancouver allowed four goals. Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said the Whitecaps are a better team than the lopsided loss indicated. Striker Eric Hassli missed on a couple of scoring chances, midfielder Shea Salinas fired a rocket that L.A. goalkeeper Josh Saunders just managed to get a hand on, and forward Mustopha Jarju had a ball roll off the tip of his boot. "I think Vancouver has a good team," said Arena. "I dont think they are a team that should stand with two wins. "I think they played pretty well at times this year and have been unfortunate. They have a good nucleus and have a bright future." Donovan said he was impressed by Hassli and play-making midfielder Davide Chiumiento. "They have a handful of guys that are good players," said Donovan, who sat out this weeks all-star game with a calf injury. "Its going to takke time. Devin Funchess Youth Jersey. "Its not easy in this league. There are teams like ourselves that have guys together for a long time. Its going to take time for them to jell." Donovans first goal came when he took advantage of a fall by Whitecaps defender Michael Boxall. The L.A. captain took a long pass from Franklin, let the ball bounce off his chest, then chipped a shot past Vancouver goalkeeper Joe Cannon. He celebrated by blowing kisses into the stands, then bowing to the booing crowd. His second goal came after referee Baldomero Toledo called Vancouver defender Jordan Harvey for a hand ball. Donovan struck the ball home for his 11th goal of the season, bringing another round of boos. Franklin scored on a crossing pass from Donovan, then Cristman added to the agony with a header. "In the first half I thought Landon was quiet," said Arena. "In the second half he was real loud." Donovan said the Galaxy had the luxury of being patient. "They are a team that is desperate and they need to win games," he said. "We knew if we were patient and kept the game at 0-0, or in our favour, it was going to benefit us. "Getting the first goal was real important. We knew if we were smart and passed the ball, we were going to get a number of chances." It was a match where the Whitecaps showed flashes of the team they could be. The smoke from the pre-game fireworks was still drifting away from the stadium when Hassli fed a pretty pass into the box for Jarju, but the forward from Gambia fired the ball over the net. A few minutes later Salinas sent a ball through the Galaxy defence that just rolled off Jarjus toe. "Everybody is pretty decimated about how it broke down in the end," said Vancouver coach Tom Soehn. "We did a lot of positive things. We could have taken the lead, but then things fell apart. Its back to the drawing board." It was the second time this year one of the marquee teams in MLS came to Vancouver without its biggest draw. In May, a knee injury kept Thierry Henry out of the New York Red Bulls lineup when they tied the Whitecaps 1-1 in Vancouver. NOTES: Vancouvers Omar Salgado missed the match playing for the U.S. U-17 team. ...Hassli has scored two goals in a game three times this season. ...It was the first MLS meeting between the teams but the Whitecaps have played the Galaxy twice in exhibition. A crowd of 48,172 watched the teams tie 0-0 at B.C. AUBURN HILLS, Mich. Nike Air Max 2016 Colorways . -- Dwyane Wade was back on the court for the Miami Heat. Wade, who missed the preseason opener saying he was "erring on the side of caution," played 21 minutes and had eight points and four assists in a 112-107 victory over the Detroit Pistons. He didnt speak to reporters after the game but coach Erik Spoelstra said it wasnt fear of an injury that kept him out of the opener. "Hes been practicing the whole time," he said. "Hes been fine and the explosiveness will come as we go along." Chris Bosh scored 28 points for Miami (2-0). James Jones added 12 points and LeBron James and Michael Beasley had nine each for the reigning NBA champions. James had seven assists. Beasley, signed almost a month ago, made the most of the 9 minutes he played with two rebounds and two steals. "To play meaningful minutes, it was fun," he said. "I just wanted to play good defence and let whatever offence there was come to me." Will Bynum had 28 points and Andre Drummond added 21 points and 11 rebounds for Detroit (0-1), which committed 23 turnovers. Beasley scored all of his points late in the third quarter to help the Heat take an 89-79 lead to the final period. The Pistons got close in the final minute and Josh Harrellson almost tied the game with a long heave that rimmed out with .6 seconds left. Pistons guard Brandon Jennings was a late scratch from the starting lineup because of wisdom tooth discomfort and the team announced before tipoff that guard Rodney Stuckey will be out indefinitely after breaking the bone in the tip of his right thumb. The team said Stuckey, who will have surgery on the thumb Friday, smashed it Wednesday in the door jamb of his car. Patriots attorney Andrew Phelan said at a hearing in Fall River Superior Court the team has agreed to produce 317 pages of materials sought by the defence, including medical and training records. But the team objects to turning over nine pages of scouting reports, which Phelan said contain proprietary "trade secrets." He also said they are irrelevant. Phelan said the Patriots have offered Hernandezs lawyers the option of reviewing -- but not copying -- what he described as a 1 1/2 page summary of the psychological assessment. Thats all the team has, according to court filings. The team says the defence should seek to obtain the full report from the third party that produced it, which specializes in providing character and mental assessments for professional sports organizations. Phelan accused the defence of being on a "fishing expedition." Hernandez, 24, has pleaded not guilty to murder in the June 2013 shooting death of Odin Lloyd, a former semi-professional football player from Boston who was dating the sister of Hernandezs fiancee. Lloyds bullet-riddled body was found in an industrial area not far from the ex-players Massachusetts home. Prosecutors say Hernandez orchestrated the killing because he was upset with Lloyd for talking to some people with whom Hernandez had problems at a nightclub a few days earlier. Hernandezs attorneyss last month asked a judge to approve a subpoena to compel his former employer to turn over all the records in his personnel file, saying they may contain important information about his state of mind. Nike Air Max 2016 Rea. "State of mind is critical," defence attorney Michael Fee told a judge Wednesday. "This is not a fishing expedition. Were not on a lark." He said the scouting reports may contain exculpatory information about "prior bad acts" allegedly committed by Hernandez before he joined the Patriots in 2010, including while he played football at the University of Florida. Fee called the offer to merely look at the psychological profile summary "a dodge and a feint," saying the document is part of the personnel file and that the defence is entitled to it. Hernandez has agreed to the files release. He was released by the Patriots on the day of his arrest last summer. The judge did not hear arguments on the merits of the subpoena request but set a hearing for July 22. Hernandez attended Wednesdays proceeding but did not address the court. Afterward, he was transferred to a new jail in Boston after his attorneys earlier request for a move -- to be closer to them -- was approved. Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins said Hernandez, who is being held without bail, will be treated like any other inmate. He said Hernandez will undergo an initial assessment before its determined whether hell be placed in the general population or isolation. Hernandez has also pleaded not guilty in a separate case in which hes charged with killing two men in Boston in 2012. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

ALAMEDA, Calif. Adidas ZX 700 Uomo|Donna . -- Terrelle Pryor will start at quarterback for the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, replacing Matt McGloin for the final regular-season game against the Denver Broncos. Coach Dennis Allen made the announcement at the end of his news conference Monday, saying it was "part of the plan" that apparently took shape when Pryor recovered from an injury to his right knee in late November. "Its been a while since weve gotten an opportunity to see Terrelle in a game and I want to get him in the game and get another opportunity to evaluate him," Allen said. "We all get frustrated when were not playing, but (Pryor has) done a good job with that and hes going to get another opportunity." Pryor was the leading rusher among quarterbacks in the NFL when he suffered a knee sprain in early November. However, he has thrown only five touchdowns with 11 interceptions and has a passer rating of just 66.0. When asked why he was making the move now, Allen emphasized that he was not benching McGloin and that it is simply another chance for the Raiders (4-11) to take another look at Pryor. Whether the decision was Allens or whether it came at the urging from owner Mark Davis remains unclear. Allen has been a strong supporter of McGloins since early in training camp and has repeatedly talked glowingly about the former Penn State star. Even after making the switch back to Pryor, Allen made it clear he believes McGloin will be in the mix for the job next season. McGloin has thrown more touchdowns (eight) and fewer interceptions (eight) than Pryor but has also completed a lower percentage of passes than his counterpart. "I liked a lot of things that I saw in Matt," Allen said. "He wasnt quite as sharp as he had been earlier in a couple of the earlier games, but Ive been pleased with what Ive seen out of (McGloin) from the first moment he walked on campus here. I think we have a guy that can be in our plans for the future and Im glad hes on this football team." Its been a tricky road back into the starting lineup for Pryor. He was hurt during Oaklands 49-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 3 then aggravated the injury the following week against the New York Giants. After that game, Pryor told reporters his knee had been bothering him -- a statement he later regretted making because, in his words, it sounded like an excuse. That opened the door for McGloin, who threw three touchdowns without an interception in his first NFL start against the Houston Texans on No. 17. Oaklands offence has made only modest improvements since then and the team has lost its past five games with McGloin as the starter. In the past two games, the undrafted rookie quarterback threw six interceptions and lost two fumbles. McGloin passed for just 206 yards and committed two turnovers during Sundays 26-13 loss to the San Diego Chargers. Allen, however, declined to say whether Pryor will play the entire game against the Denver Broncos or if McGloin will be rotated in. That was the pattern the Raiders used against the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, only in reverse with McGloin starting and Pryor coming off the bench. "Well see," Allen said. "Hes going to be the starter. I informed both of those guys this morning and well go from there. We want to get another opportunity to see, and weve said for a while now that we want to be able to evaluate Terrelle so heres an opportunity to go in and do that." Oakland went 3-5 in the eight games Pryor started before getting hurt. He has made only a few cameo appearances since then, but did not play against San Diego on Sunday. Allen gave players the day off Monday, so neither Pryor nor McGloin could be reached for comment. Two weeks ago, however, Pryor said he wasnt going to get caught up in a quarterback controversy. "The only thing I can do is control what I can control and just keep getting better," he said on Dec. 10, two days after a 37-27 loss to the Jets. "At the end of the day thats all I can control. Thats where were at." Adidas ZX Flux . But what separates him from other players is how competitive he is and how much he wants to make the difference out there.Fabbri wont be able to make a difference the rest of the way for Canada, which all along has been favoured to win gold on home ice. It was not clear how much time Fabbri would miss for Guelph. Not all high ankle sprains are the same, but Toronto Maple Leafs winger Brandon Kozun recently missed more than six weeks with one.Fabbri said a couple of St. Louis staffers reached out to him along with star forwards T.J. This is another blow.Ive had a little bit of a tough year this year, in St. Louis as well, Fabbri said. Everything happens for a reason and you just have to build off it and build character.Fabbri barely got to enjoy playing close to home at Air Canada Centre but is still a part of the camaraderie this group has been building for weeks. His teammates are glad hes still around and dont take his upbeat mood for granted.Hes a great guy on and off the ice, and his attitude is still really positive and hasnt changed at all, Domi said. HOUSTON -- Lance Berkman and Roy Oswalt signed one-day contracts and officially retired as Astros on Saturday. Lazar Markovic Jersey . Berkman and Oswalt were drafted by the Astros a year apart and came up through the minors together before Berkman made his major league debut in 1999 and Oswalt followed less than two years later. "Its an honour to come back here and retire as an Astro," Oswalt said. "Lance and I both came up through the organization about the same time. We got to play together for a long time. The best thing about Houston was that it was always home. I know Im speaking for myself, but I went to Philadelphia, Texas and Colorado afterwards, but Houston has always been home." Berkman said it was special to play for an organization that had the tradition the Astros did. "We all kind of felt like we were all part of the Astros family," Berkman said. "Thats what made this, in my opinion, a special place to be. They made a conscious effort to draft guys, develop them and keep them here for a long time." As part of the pregame ceremony to celebrate the two players, a video played with comments from Nolan Ryan, Jake Peavy, Tony La Russa and Albert Pujols and former teammates Brad Ausmus, Andy Pettitte, Craig Biggio and Adam Everett. Both players were given multiple standing ovations by the crowd at Minute Maid Park and presented with their framed 2005 World Series jerseys along with personalized rocking chairs and Stetson hats. It was also announced that the two Texas flags flying at the State Capital in Austin on Saturday would be framed and given to the two players. Oswalt, the MVP of the 2005 NLCS, ranks second in wins and strikeouts in franchise history. Oswalt went 2-0 mark with a 1.29 ERA in the Astros six-game series win over St. Louis and was the starter and winner of the Astros Game Six series-clinching win at Busch Stadium. Berkman spent 12 of his 15 seasons in the majors with the Astros after being Houstons first pick in the 1997 draft out of Rice. For his career, he hit .293 in 1,879 games with 366 home runs and 1,234 RBIs with a .406 on-base percentage and a .537 slugging percentage. Oswalt finished his 13-season career with a 163-102 record in 365 appearances -- 341 starts -- with a 3.36 ERA. Oswalt, a three-time All Star, reached 20 wins in 2004 and 2005 and was a 19-game winner in 2002. After being selected by the Astros in the 23rd round of the 1996 draft, Oswalt was called up to the majors in 2001, finishing that season with a 14-3 record in 28 appearances -- 20 starts -- with a 2.73 ERA. "You always wonder when it will be your last year," Oswalt said. "My goal when I first started was to play 10 years. I felt that if you play 10 solid years in the big leagues, you have had a solid year, and I got to play 13. I feel like some days I can still play. However, here - for your consideration or dismissal – are five theories as to the origins of the stick. Jeremy Maclin Chiefs Jersey . 1. Its not an individual hockey stick, but rather a splinter from what was once the Worlds biggest hockey stick. Think about it, its Minnesota. Giant mall, giant Paul Bunyon statue, giant ball of twine, giant stick… its probably the most logical explanation. 2. Its a carefully planted relic by Zach Parise to further taunt the New Jersey Devils. The Minny native is just looking for new ways to endear himself to local fans and stick it to Lou Lamoriello. In the first draft of this news story the stick was actually engraved with “WonderBoy” but CBS brass found it just a bit too improbable for locals to swallow. 3. Its a relic, but only from Brent Burns “Caveman” phase. That stick probably just fell out of his beard last time the Sharks were passing through. Who knows what else was hiding in there. 4. Its a piece of hockey history, all right, but thats no stick. Its actually a weapon thats been left behind in a “Back to the Future”-esque plot in which an enraged Gopher Stater goes back in time to try to erase the existence of Norman Green, thereby never letting the North Stars leave Minnesota. Dear, local police ... youre welcome. 5. Its actually Petr Nedveds stick for the 2014 Olympics. He just likes to kick it old school. Please ship it back to Liberec for him before February. Hes been looking all over the place for that thing! Len Dawson Jersey . Schneider, who was traded to New Jersey at Junes NHL draft in a deal that ended more than a year of goaltending drama involving himself and Roberto Luongo, was honoured with a video tribute just prior to the opening faceoff. The fans at Rogers Arena saluted their former netminder with raucous applause. "It was fun, a great environment, great atmosphere, really nice of them to show that screen at the start," said Schneider, who finished with 29 saves. "It was a nice touch, but once the puck dropped we had our hands full, they are tough to play against. "With Louie at the other end, you have to match him save for save because hes not going to give you much." Luongo, who finished with 21 stops, said the game didnt hold any extra meaning even though it was against his friend and former teammate. "We got the win, so thats what matters at the end of the day. I thought we both played really good games," said Luongo, who shared a word with Schneider as the two stretched next to each other during the warmup. "Schneids kept them in it, made some big saves throughout the whole game. Somebody had to win. "It was fun. Obviously we spent many years together so it was nice to battle it out head-to-head." Garrisons winner, his third goal of the young season, came after he slid across the blue-line and fired a shot through traffic that beat Schneider. The puck appeared to go off Canucks centre Mike Santorelli, but the goal was still credited to the Vancouver defenceman. Vancouver fell behind 1-0 against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday before securing a 6-2 victory, and followed that up with a 5-4 overtime win in Calgary after spotting the Flames a 3-1 lead on Sunday. Canucks coach John Tortorella said the fact his team has three straight come-from-behind victories bodes well moving forward. "Early on in the season, its good to happen that way. Well be in these situations and hopefully was can fall back on some of the positive things that are going on," he said. "You dont want to spot them a 2-0 lead but I appreciate how (the Canucks) just stay with it. "There was no panic on our bench. We just started playing a little bit quicker and a little bit simpler." Daniel Sedin, with a goal and an assist, and Alexander Edler also scored for Vancouver (3-1-0). Jaromir Jagr and Patrik Elias each had a goal and an assist for winless New Jersey (0-1-3), which was playing its second game in as many nights. Schneider posted a 17-9-4 record with five shutouts, a 2.11 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage for Vancouver last season after supplanting Luongo as the starter under former coach Alain Vigneault. The 27-year-old appeared to be the Canucks goalltender of the future until he was traded to the Devils after Vancouver was unable to move Luongo and his 12-year, $64-million contract. Jason Avant Chiefs Jersey. Schneider is now sharing the crease in New Jersey with 41-year-old future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur, who allowed four goals on 27 shots in Mondays 5-4 shootout loss to the Oilers. Tied 2-2 after two periods on Tuesday, the teams didnt generate much in the third until the midway mark when Luongo was forced to make saves off both Elias and Jagr. "We had some chances, we had the lead again, so we have to stop playing bad with the lead," said Jagr. "Its not easy to get a lead in this league and we had it the last two games, 3-0 and 2-0 and we still get only two points together, so we should get more points than that." Leading 1-0 after the first, Schneider made big stops on David Booth and Kevin Bieksa before the Devils doubled their advantage at 7:25 on a strange play. New Jersey defenceman Anton Volchenkov threw the puck into the Canucks corner, but it took a deflection off the referee and fell to Elias, who fired a shot past Luongo that went in off Vancouver right-winger Dale Weise. The Canucks responded at 8:51 on a shot from Sedin that deflected off Volchenkovs skate and past Schneider. Vancouver then tied it up at 13:47 on Edlers first of the season. With Devils left-winger Ryane Clowe hobbling to the bench, the Canucks defenceman found a seam and tucked a shot under the crossbar off a feed from Sedin. The fans who had given Schneider a standing ovation in the first period started to jeer their former goalie after Vancouvers second goal. "Yeah, Id like to think that came from a place of love but probably not," said Schneider, who regrouped to stop Jannik Hansen on a breakaway with under five minutes to go to send the teams to the locker-rooms still knotted. New Jersey opened the scoring with 68 seconds left in the first when Elias slid a cross-ice pass to Jagr, who one-time a shot past Luongo. With all of the pre-game hype focusing on Schneiders return to the scene of a goaltending soap opera that polarized fans in the city for more than a year, both he and Luongo stole the show early as both players made big saves before Jagr opened the scoring. "It was fun playing against (Luongo), hes a great goalie, I have always said that," said Schneider. "Ive learned a lot from him and hes been put through a lot but his resiliency and how hard hes worked through it. "I think he deserves everything he gets. It was fun seeing him at the other end for the first time." Notes: Tuesdays game marked the Devils first trip to Vancouver since Nov. 1, 2010. The Canucks were victorious that night, with Luongo making 30 saves for the shutout. ... Calgary Flames president of hockey operation Brian Burke was in attendance. Pinch-hitter Reid Brignac lined a tiebreaking, two-run double in the sixth inning, John Mayberry Jr. hit a three-run homer and the Phillies beat the San Diego Padres 7-3 to complete a three-game sweep Thursday in a game played in steady rain. Brignac, whose three-run homer in the ninth sent the Phillies to a 3-0 victory a night earlier, hit a drive off Dale Thayer to the gap in left-centre for a 4-2 lead. Mayberry connected an inning later off Alex Torres. Making a spot start for Ryan Howard, Mayberry also doubled twice. "Its definitely a game of momentum and I think with the way weve played these last few games, that can definitely carry over." Mayberry said. "I think from top to bottom, weve pitched well, had timely hitting and played good defence. Hopefully we can continue." Kyle Kendrick (2-6) allowed one earned and seven hits, striking out five in six innings. He earned his second win in 20 starts, dating to last year. The Phillies have their first three game-winning streak since May 17-20 and recorded just their second series sweep this season. Ken Giles made his major league debut for the Phillies with two outs in the ninth. He threw a 100 mph fastball on his first pitch before Yasmani Grandal hit an opposite-field homer on a 3-1 pitch. "I just go out and pitch. Whatever it says, it says," Giles said of the radar gun. As for the homer, Giles said: "It looked like a routine fly ball to the warning track to me." Welcome to hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park, kid. Padres starter Eric Stults (2- allowed four runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. Mayberry is batting .324 (12 for 37) with five doubles, three homers and 12 RBIs against lefties. Howard is hitting just .206 (12 for 63) with one double, four homers, 15 RBIs and 30 strikeouts vs. lefties. Manager Ryne Sandberg may have to consider a platoon at first, even though Howard is making $25 million per season through 2016 with a $23 million team option for 2017. "I see it pretty well (againnst lefties)," Mayberry said. Lance Kendricks Jersey. "I think traditionally righties hit left-handers better obviously. Im just trying to take the same approach into every at-bat." Mayberry led off Philadelphias sixth with his second double. Domonic Brown lined a single to right on an 0-2 pitch, chasing Stults. Thayer came in to face Will Nieves, who hit a bouncer to third baseman Chase Headley. His high throw to the plate was in time to get Mayberry. Sandberg challenged the call, but a video review confirmed catcher Grandal tagged Mayberry before his foot touched the plate. Thayer then struck out pinch-hitter Howard. But Brignac followed with a shot to the wall to give the Phillies a two-run lead. Mayberry made it 7-2 with his fifth homer of the season in the seventh. Padres manager Bud Black won a replay challenge in the third inning when a video review showed Ben Revere was out at first base following a drag bunt. Jimmy Rollins hit an RBI single in Philadelphias first to move within two hits of breaking Mike Schmidts franchise record of 2,234. The Padres jumped on Kendrick for two runs in the first. Will Venable led off with a single and Everth Cabrera followed with a single, snapping an 0-for-23 slump. After Seth Smiths groundout, Headley hit an RBI double. Smith scored when right fielder Marlon Byrd bobbled the ball for an error and Headley went to third. Kendrick has a 9.00 ERA in the first inning and batters are hitting .393 against him. "I dont have an answer," Kendrick said. "Ive tried everything. Maybe next game I wont warm up." DETROIT - The Detroit Lions are one win from a post-season berth — and a division title is also within reach. Cheap NFL Jerseys .We can taste it, man. Its right there in front of us, defensive lineman Jason Jones said.Coach Jim Caldwell doesnt want to hear that kind of talk.I hope hes talking about tasting practice next week, getting ready for the Bears, Caldwell said. Thats probably what it was. Ill clarify it for him.The Lions dont want to get too far ahead of themselves, but Sundays 16-14 victory over Minnesota put Detroit in a tie for first place in the NFC North. The Lions can clinch a playoff berth with a victory next weekend at Chicago, and no matter what happens in that game, Detroit will take the division if it wins at Green Bay the following week. For a while, it looked as if the Lions (10-4) might waste their opportunity to pull even with the Packers atop the division. Green Bay had already lost to Buffalo when Detroit spotted Minnesota a 14-0 lead, but the Lions rallied thanks to two second-quarter interceptions, and they finally took the lead on Matt Praters 33-yard field goal with 3:38 left in the fourth quarter. The Vikings (6- had the ball two more times, but by the end they were reduced to sending Blair Walsh out to try a 68-yard field goal on the games final play. It was short, and the Lions held on.The Lions have been through a lot of seasons where they havent been doing too good, said Jones, who is from nearby Southfield. I experienced it when I was younger, but just to be a part of this right now and what we can bring to this city, its so important right now. Our fans, they want it, we want it and were going to go back to work. Here are a few things about Detroits tight victoryefence FIRST: The Lions didnt manage a first down until their fifth offensive possession, and they never totally solved the Minnesota defence, so it was up to Detroits defence to keep the game close. Glover Quins second-quarter interception, which included a 56-yard return, set up the only touchdown of the game for the Lions.Darius Slay added another interception in the second quarter, and Detroit shut out the Vikings in the second half.BOUNCING BACK: Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was sacked eight times in a loss to the Lions in October, and Detroit got to him four more times Sunday. The two interceptions were crucial, but Bridgewater went 31 of 41 for 315 yards and a touchdown.I think hes pretty resilient in really everything, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. I thought offensively we had a pretty good plan against them. Our backs ran hard, we kept fighting for extra yards.CRUCIAL KICKS: In a remarkable reversal, the Lions won this game because of field goals. Prater made all three of his attempts, while Walsh missed from 53 and 68 and had a 26-yarder blocked by Jones in the fourth quarter.Detroit has missed 12 field goals this season, but most of those were before Prater joined the team in October.HELD IN CHECK: Although Detroit won, the Lions were held to a season-low 233 yards of offence. Detroit didnt do much better in its 17-3 win over Minnesota in October. The Lions had only 255 yards in that game.HAPPY AT HOME: The Lions finished 7-1 at home this regular season, the first time theyve managed that since 1995. By sweeping a three-game homestand against Chicago, Tampa Bay and Minnesota, theyve put themselves in a good position to reach the playoffs. These fans deserve the world for everything that theyve been through, centre Dominic Raiola said. Not only in this building with this team, but life in general being here in Detroit. Just some little positivity in everybodys world aint going to hurt.___Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping . Montreal Alouettes offensive lineman Scott Flory is expected to be named the new President of the CFLPA, according to the Hamilton Spectators Drew Edwards.ORLANDO, Fla. - Adam Scott keeps putting his name in the Bay Hill record book, each round moving him closer to another handshake with The King. One day after Scott opened with a record-tying 62 in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he hit his stride around the turn Friday with five birdies in an eight-hole stretch to leave everyone else far behind. Even with a three-putt bogey on his final hole, Scott still had a 4-under 68 for a seven-shot lead. He was at 14-under 130, matching the 36-hole record at Bay Hill first set by Tom Watson and Andy Bean in 1981. And his seven-shot margin at the halfway point shattered the previous record held by Tiger Woods in 2002 and Paul Azinger in 1988. Scott sounds like hes not the least bit satisfied. "The challenge might be just to start again and try and play a great 36 holes," he said. "Start fresh and try to be the leader after the next 36." That would merit a visit with Arnold Palmer, the tournament host known simply as "The King" in golf circles. Scott has spoken glowingly all week about his first invitation to Bay Hill when he was 20. Walking off the first green, Palmer was in a cart to greet him with a handshake, and Scott was amazed that Palmer knew his name. Now hes the Masters champion, and the 33-year-old Australian is playing like one. J.B. Holmes (69), Chesson Hadley (6 and Francesco Molinari of Italy (70) were tied for second at 7-under. Keegan Bradley had the low score of the blustery second round with a 67, putting him in a group at 138 that included Brandt Snedeker (71) and Jamie Donaldson of Wales (71). "I think Im 10 behind and playing pretty well for two rounds," said Snedeker, who was off by two. "Hes playing pretty phenomenal. Hes going to be a tough guy to catch. A guy that hits it as good as he does and seems to have a complete game like he has, and the way hes playing now, hes not going to come backward. Seems like an awfully special week if you can get close to him." Scott played in the afternoon, when the course began to get firm under two days of full sunshine, and the pace on the greens began to quicken. No one ever got closer than his three-shot lead to start the round, though there were two pivotal moments. He holed a 15-foot par putt on the first hole to calm his nerves, and he hit a gorgeous shot out of the rough from 167 yards and made a 12-foot birdie on the ninth. He went to the back nine 1-under par for his round, and he took off from there. Scott hit a 7-iron to 4 feet on No. 11,, got up-and-down for birdie on the par-3 12th, nearly holed a tough chip from behind the 14th green to save par, and then made consecutive birdies with a 30-foot putt on the 15th and a 7-iron to pin-high for a two-putt birdie on the par-5 16th. Cheap Authentic Jerseys Wholesale. He only made it look easy. There were three rounds in the 80s, including by U.S. Amateur champion Matthew Fitzpatrick. U.S. Open champion Justin Rose, playing in the same group with Scott, had a 79 and missed the cut for the first time in a regular PGA Tour event since The Players Championship last May. "This course will really start to bare its teeth," Scott said. "Ive got to take in the attitude of starting over again and trying to play a really hard 36 holes. And hopefully, if I can I can keep striking the ball like I am, Ill give myself enough chances for birdie — and hopefully, more birdies than bogeys." At one point, caddie Steve Williams was some 275 yards down the left side of the fairway on the par-5 16th. His boss was barely visible back on the tee, but Williams watched his swing and instantly said, "Perfect." And that it was, 325 yards right down the middle. Scott missed only two fairways and has taken just 52 putts over the first 36 holes. He was in no mood to celebrate just yet. For one thing, he is still recovering from being sick. His energy was better Friday, though he could barely talk above a whisper during a brief interview with Golf Channel before his round. And the Australian knows how a big lead can get away, even on the final day. He had a four-shot lead with four holes remaining in the 2012 British Open when it all went wrong — four straight bogeys — and Ernie Els walked off with the claret jug. Thats a distant memory for Scott, who takes that green jacket from Augusta National with him just about everywhere he goes. "Seven shots over two days is not enough," Scott said. "I dont think you can ever be enough in the lead, to be honest." DIVOTS: Ryo Ishikawa had a 74 and was among those in the group at 5-under. The Japanese star has been working hard on his English. He used the words, "sucker pin," in an interview, and then chatted comfortably with Jimmy Roberts of NBC Sports for about five minutes. ... Southern Amateur champion Zachary Olsen made the cut. ... Sam Saunders, the grandson of Arnold Palmer, had a 71 and was in a tie for 16th. ... Paul Casey made a 7-foot bogey putt on his last hole for a 79 to make the cut on the number at 2-over 146. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

KITZBUEHEL, Austria -- Erik Guay moved one step closer to Canadian skiing history on Saturday. Nike Roshe Run Print Baratas . The reigning world downhill champion from Mont Tremblant, Que., finished second in the mens World Cup race in a time of one minute 57.69 seconds. The silver-medal finish was Guays 19th-career World Cup podium and moved him just one back of Steve Podborskis Canadian record of 20 top-three results. "If ever theres a place you want to podium its Kitzbuehel. Its definitely the Super Bowl of the World Cup," said Guay, who added the result was a nice build-up toward the Feb. 10 downhill race at the world championships in Schladming, Austria. "Ive never been on the podium here so second place is great. "I am already starting to think toward Schladming. My goal obviously is to defend my title. It will be a tall order but I feel like my form line is coming into place." Guay finished the downhill 0.13 seconds back of Domink Paris, who became just the second Italian skier to win the classic mens World Cup downhill in Kitzbuehel, following in the footsteps of Kristian Ghedinas victory in 1998. Hannes Reichelt of Austria was 0.36 seconds back in third place. The Canadian ski team has had plenty of success at Kitzbuehel, just not in recent times. Ken Read started an incredible win streak with his victory in the downhill in 1980 and Podborski won in 1981 and 1982 before Todd Brooker claimed another victory in 1983. Rob Boyd was the last Canadian man to make the podium in the downhill, finishing third in 1991. Thomas Grandi was second in the slalom in 2004. Vancouvers Manuel Osborne-Paradis finished 10th on Saturday, while Ben Thomsen of Invermere, B.C., was 17th and Calgarys Jan Hudec was 18th on the 3.3-kilometre course. "I think in other years when our team has come here we havent really attacked but this year we had a different mindset," Guay said. "Our team is strong. I like that we are a small team -- small but focused. Four guys who can all be competitive." Paris, who also won in Bormio in December, and teammate Christof Innerhofer now share four downhill victories this season, a record for the Italian team. "Winning Kitzbuehel is even a bigger achievement (than Bormio)," Paris said. "Its the dream of every downhill racer to win here. When that dream comes true, its beautiful." The crowd of about 50,000 included Austrian-born actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who took a break from a promotional tour to watch the race in sunny conditions. The victory sent Paris top of the downhill standings with 317 points, closely followed by Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway with 314. Svindal, who won Fridays super-G, finished ninth and failed to overtake Marcel Hirscher atop the overall standings. The Austrian skipped the race and leads Svindal with 935 points to 876. Svindal had to wait in the start gate as the previous racer, Peter Fill, crashed. The Italian went into the fences and made an ugly-looking back flip, but escaped unhurt. Later, Johan Clarey of France also avoided injury in a full-speed crash. "(Waiting) is not ideal, it interferes with your rhythm up there," Svindal said. "But I have been around long enough to know how to handle that. I just didnt ski good enough. I had some mistakes on the bumps but my speed wasnt good enough anyway for a win today." Following a punishment by the International Ski Federation, Innerhofer had to start the race in 46th position instead of his usual spot among the first 30. The Italian still clocked one of the fastest split times early in his run, but could not keep up the pace on the damaged course after 45 racers. He finished 20th, 1.92 behind Paris. Innerhofer was fined for ignoring a yellow flag -- a stop signal from the jury -- during Thursdays final downhill training. It was the first time since 2006 that the Kitzbuehel downhill was not won by a skier from Switzerland. Didier Cuche won the race four times in the past five years, but has retired. Patrick Kueng became the highest ranked Swiss skier, finishing in 15th. -- With files from The Associated Press Air Jordan 6 Retro Infrared . Kouzmanoff, who is hitting .362 in 13 games and is the reigning AL player of the week, came out of Tuesdays game at Oakland because of a sore back. General manager Jon Daniels said Kouzmanoff has some history of lower back problems and was still having symptoms Thursday, an off day for the Rangers between series at Oakland and Seattle. Daniels said Kouzmanoff was travelling back to Texas and that the Rangers hoped to have a report from Dr. Drew Dossett before making room on the roster for Beltre, the third baseman who hasnt played since April 8 because of a left quad strain. Left-hander Pedro Figueroa, who has had Tommy John surgery in the past, has a torn ligament in his elbow and damage to a flexor tendon. The reliever, who last week got his first two major league victories in consecutive games, will likely have surgery next week. Figueroa was put on the disabled list Wednesday after thrrowing only one pitch Tuesday night. Nike Air Max 2016 Outlet. He was the 11th Rangers player to go on the DL this year. Daniels said outfielder Shin-Soo Choo reported improvement Thursday on his sore left ankle that the team is "expecting at this point to be able to avoid the DL." Choo got hurt Monday night at Oakland when he landed awkwardly when extending his leg to beat out what was ruled an infield single. Former Rangers closer Neftali Feliz was put on the minor league disabled list with Triple-A Round Rock because of soreness and inflammation around his right elbow. Team physician Dr. Keith Meister examined Feliz, and Daniels said Feliz is on oral medication for the inflammation and could resume throwing early next week. There appears to be no structural damage or issues with any ligaments. Feliz had ligament replacement surgery Aug. 1, 2012, after starting that season in the rotation, and returned to the Texas bullpen for six appearances at the end of last season. The Rangers sent him to the minors after he was inconsistent with his velocity and performance during spring training. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Davante Adams Jersey . -- The Jacksonville Jaguars expect to be without suspended receiver Justin Blackmon all season, maybe even longer. General manager Dave Caldwell said Friday it would be "relatively surprising" to have Blackmon back on the field this fall. "Its not something that were counting on," Caldwell said at the teams annual predraft luncheon. "It would be something that would be relatively surprising. Havent gotten a whole lot of updates from the league where hes at or from Justin, to be honest with you." Blackmon is suspended indefinitely without pay for repeated violations of the leagues substance abuse policy. He was previously suspended the first four games of last year for violating the policy. He played four games before getting suspended again -- at least for a year. But the Jaguars arent counting on Blackmon to return after eight games in 2014. NFL rules prohibit the team from having any contact with Blackmon -- aside from texts -- during his suspension. "Without having contact, we just have to protect the team now," coach Gus Bradley said. "Weve got to do whats right for the organization so we have to continue to move forward and project that. Weve got to get some guys in here at that spot and thats why youve heard Dave talk about wide receiver is a need because of that. Now, if everything works out to get him back, thats OK. We always will love to get very talented players in here. But its hard. But we just have to keep going forward." With Blackmons future uncertain, the Jaguars are considering selecting Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins with the third overall pick in next weeks draft. If they dont take Watkins in the first round, they expect to use at least one of their other 10 picks on a receiver. The wideout class is considered one of the deepest in the draft. Blackmon has been involved in three substance-related incidents in three years. He was arrested on a misdemeanour DUI charge in Texas in 2010 after officers caught him speeding on a suburban Dallas highway. The charge was later reduced to an underage alcohol possession charge. A little more than a month after the Jaguars drafted him, he was arrested during a traffic stop in Stillwater, Oklahoma, after a breath test allegedly showed his blood alcohol content to be three times the legal limit. A subsequent violation landed him the four-game suspension. Another one got him the indefinite suspension. Blackmon caught 29 passes for 415 yards and a touchdown in the four games he played last season. He was the teams leading receiver during that stretch. While Blackmon sat out the first four games, the Jaguars averaged 224 yards of total offence. In the four games he played, Jacksonville hiked its offensive output to just over 350 yards per game. He has 93 catches for 1,280 yards and six scores in 20 games -- all since Jacksonville traded up to select the former Oklahoma State star with the fifth overall pick in the 2012 draft. Without him, the Jaguars relied on Cecil Shorts III, Ace Sanders and Mike Brown last season. Micah Hyde Packers Jersey . Varlamov made 19 saves in winning his third straight start, and Jamie McGinn provided all the offence 2:32 into overtime to lift the Avalanche to a 1-0 victory on Saturday night. Varlamovs 12th career shutout and first this season came one day after prosecutors in Denver filed a misdemeanour assault charge against him following a complaint by his girlfriend that he attacked her on Oct. 30. The six-year veteran spent a night in jail before he was freed on $5,000 bond. "You know what? Varlys been like this since the start of the year, and hes been very focused," Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said. "In some ways, it was not a big surprise. Those charges were dropped (three of the four), which is good news for him. "He made a couple of big saves at the right moments. Hes having the support of his teammates, and his teammates want to play hard in front of him, as well." The Avalanche, who have allowed an NHL-low nine first-period goals, blocked nine shots during the first 20 minutes and finished with 15. Los Angeles received a 4-minute power play with 77 seconds left in the second period, after John Mitchell cut Willie Mitchell with a high stick, but the Kings got only two shots during that stretch and finished 0 for 4 with the man advantage. "Team defence is something we pride ourselves in, and we try to take away time and space" defenceman Nate Guenin said. "Our forwards and defencemen take pride in the defensive zone, and weve got two rock-solid goalies back there (including Jean-Sebastien Giguere). So if we make a mistake, they are there to bail us out." McGinns fourth goal of the season, and first game-winner, helped the Avalanche (17-5-0) improve the best start in franchise history. They are 15-0 when they score first. Ben Scrivens made 32 saves in his sixth straight start for the injured Jonathan Quicck. Don Barclay Jersey. He got a bad break when a rebound trickled into the net off the elbow of teammate Jarret Stoll after Scrivens made the initial save on McGinn. "Im just trying to drive to the net, get a lot of wood on it, and make sure I hit the net," McGinn said. "I thought Scrivens made a great save on the shoulder, and it was unlucky for them that it hit their guy -- but lucky for us that it hit the back of the net. We worked hard the whole game, so were glad we got rewarded." The Kings, coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to New Jersey on Thursday, were shut out for the first time this season and ended an eight-game stretch in which they recorded at least one point. Scrivens was at his best during the second one, stopping point-blank shots by John Mitchell, Ryan OReilly, rookie Nathan MacKinnon and two more by P.A. Parenteau after Willie Mitchell was off for high-sticking Maxime Talbot with 7 minutes left in regulation. "Its hard to win in this league, so you cant take anything for granted," Scrivens said. "You have to respect Colorado. They are a good team and they find ways to win. I dont think a lot of people at the start of the season had them where they are in the (standings), so you have to give a ton of credit to them." TUCSON, Ariz. Cheap NFL Jerseys . -- Arizona came out of its last meeting with California a bit discombobulated, hurting from its first loss and the loss of forward Brandon Ashley for the rest of the season. It took a little while, but the Wildcats seem to have their groove back -- just at the right time. Coming off two solid road wins, No. 3 Arizona played one of its best games of the season -- certainly since Ashley went down -- quickly turning its rematch with Cal into an 87-59 rout Wednesday night. Nick Johnson had 22 points after struggling against Cal the first time and Kaleb Tarczewski added 16 points for the Wildcats, who pulled out a tough win at Utah and routed Colorado last week. "Obviously, we played very well tonight, one of our best games of the season," Arizona coach Sean Miller said. "You might make the argument that the game against Colorado and tonights game were the best back-to-back games weve played all season." Cal won the first meeting 60-58 on a last-second jumper by Justin Cobbs that sent the students pouring onto the court. Arizona (26-2, 13-2 Pac-12) ran away from the Bears early in the rematch, using a big first-half run and good shooting all game to prevent the season sweep. T.J. McConnell finished with 13 points and six assists, and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson provided a lift off the bench with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Johnson also had seven rebounds and five assists after scoring four points on 1-of-14 shooting the first game against Cal. "It feels good right now," said McConnell, who has 22 assists and one turnover the past three games. "Were shooting the ball well and when we do that, were tough to beat." Cal (18-10, 9-6), struggled at times against Arizonas defensive pressure and had little chance of stopping the Wildcats at the other end to lose for the 17th time in 19 games at McKale Center. Arizona shot 50 per cent against the Bears and had a 42-25 rebounding advantage, including 15 on the offensive glass. Cobbs led Cal with 12 points. "Theyre good; you have to give credit where credit is due," Cal coach Mike Montgomery said. "They were solid and a little angry having lost to us. Theyre making shots now and at our place they werent making all their shots. Theyre playing really well right now." Arizona wanted a little revenge after what happened in the first meeting against Cal. The Wildcats entered the Feb. 1 game with the No. 1 ranking and a school-record 21-game winning streak. They left Berkeley with their first loss of the season -- thanks to Cobbs stepback jumper with 0.9 seconds left -- and Ashley in a walking boot after he injured his right foot going up for a rebound in the first half. Ashley is done for the season, but Arizona has found ways to win without him, picking up three victories in four games, including Sundays 88-61 blowout at Colorado. The Wildcats started slowly in the rematch against Cal, opening 1 for 6 to miss more shots in the first 3 1-2 minutes than they did the entire half against Colorado (22 for 26). Once they got rolling, the Bears couldnt keep up. Triggered by its defence, Arizona went on a 12-2 run, building its lead to 39-23 on a series of steals and dunks. Johnson had one dunk in transition after a steal and Aaron Gordon had another, racing off for a head-above-the-rim reverse dunk that triggered a roar inside McKale Center. Hollis-Jefferson had a high-flying dunk on an alley-oop pass on an inbounds play, then threw down a tomahawk in transition after Johnson tracked down Cobbs to block his layup from behind at the other end. Arizona made 18 of 36 shots to lead 44-29 at halftime. Johnson had 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, four rebounds and three assists while leading the top of Arizonas defence with McConnell at the top. "Its always good when everybody is hitting shots," Johnson said. "Whenever you hit a shot, it feels good and you hit a few in a row, its great for your confidence." The Wildcats quickly built the lead to 20 points in the second half, but Cal showed a little resiliency, going on an 11-0 run that cut Arizonas lead to 53-44. That was as close as the Bears would get. Arizona turned up the pressure again, McConnell hit a 3-pointer in transition and Gordon soared in for another dunk, putting the Wildcats back comfortably ahead, 70-52. "We cant afford a 15-point deficit against a team like Arizona," Cobbs said. "We played well for a stretch and cut the lead by eight, but they executed well on offence and I give them credit." Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork. Iker Casillas Jersey .com) - The Kansas City Royals officially announced Tuesday that the club has agreed to terms with first baseman/designated hitter Kendrys Morales on a two-year contract with a mutual option for the 2017 season. The contract is reportedly worth $17 million. Morales will fill the void left by Billy Butler, who signed a three-year, $30 million free-agent contract with the Oakland Athletics. Morales split last season with the Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners, who acquired him right before the non-waiver trade deadline. However, he only hit .218 in 98 combined games with eight home runs and 42 RBI. The 31-year-old switch-hitter had declined a qualifying offer from Seattle last offseason, but found no takers in free agency, as no team was willing to surrender a draft pick to sign him. Morales did not sign with the Twins until June 8 when compensation was no longer a factor. Morales broke into the majors with the Angels in 2006 and spent the next six years with the club. He is a career .271 hitter with 110 homers and 387 RBI in 718 games. Following a career-best season in 2009, in which he recorded 43 doubles, 34 home runs and 108 RBI, Morales was limited to 51 games in 2010 and missed the entire 2011 season because of a severe leg injury. He suffered a fractured lower left leg celebrating a walk-off grand slam on May 29, 2010 against Seattle. To make room for Morales on the 40-man roster, the Royals designated outfielder Moises Sierra for assignment. Daniel Carvajal Jersey . PAUL, Minn.Palermo, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Roma failed to move level with Juventus at the top of the Serie A table on Saturday after being held to a 1-1 draw at Palermo. Roma has now drawn three of its last four games in league play, leaving the club two points back of Juve, which can extend that lead on Sunday with a win at home against Hellas Verona. Palermo capitalized on an early mistake to take the lead inside of two minutes through Paulo Dybala, while Roma answered after halftime courtesy of Mattia Destro to claim a point. Davide Astori was largely to blame for the opening goal as he made a poor pass inside his own half of the field that was cut out by Palermos Franco Vazquez. He then played Dybala into the area, allowing the Argentine to slot his shot past goalkeeperr Morgan De Sanctis for a 1-0 Palermo lead. Sergio Ramos Jersey. De Sanctis was called into action six minutes before halftime and he needed to produce a diving save on a flicked header from Edgar Barreto following Michel Morganellas cross to keep his side within a goal. Roma failed to register a shot on target in the first half, and the visitors had trouble mounting a consistent attack throughout the match. However, a left-wing free kick from Miralem Pjanic in the 54th minute set up the equalizer as the ball was played to the back post for Kevin Strootman, who nodded it back to the front of goal for Destro to redirect inside the left post. GREEN BAY, Wis. Custom USA Soccer Jersey . -- Packers coach Mike McCarthy says the chances of quarterback Aaron Rodgers playing Thursday at Detroit are "slim to none." McCarthy said Monday he isnt sure whether he will go with Matt Flynn, who rallied the team from a 16-point deficit to a 26-26 tie with the Minnesota Vikings, or Scott Tolzien, who started the past two games but was benched with 8 minutes 22 seconds left in the third quarter Sunday. Grey wont reveal exactly what he and Young worked on. Suffice to say, the Athletics young staff ace is pleased with the results. Brandon Moss hit a tiebreaking RBI double in the fifth inning, and Gray bounced back from two sub-par outings to lead Oakland over the Texas Rangers 4-2 Wednesday, giving the Athletics (44-2 the best record in the majors. "Overall it was a pretty good outing," said Gray, who had won just two of eight starts before going seven innings against Texas and striking out seven. "I dont think there really is a difference other than I was able to make pitches," he said. "Thats probably it. People sometimes forget that baseball is a pretty hard game and theres going to be some rough patches that youre going to go through." Grey (7-3) bounced back nicely from his recent rough stretch. The right-hander needed only 31 pitches to get through the first three innings, then struck out Brad Snyder on a high 95 mph fastball to end the fourth with runners at second and third. Grey also got help from left fielder Yoenis Cespedes, who made a leaping catch at the warning track to rob Adrian Beltre of extra bases two batters before Snyder struck out. His lone mistake came in the fifth when Texas loaded the bases with two outs. Gray walked two and gave up an infield single before Shin-Soo Choos two-run single made it 2-2. "Its just balance for him," As manager Bob Melvin said. "He knows his delivery (and) his mechanics pretty well, and Curts terrific at pointing out subtle things. There are a couple things hes been working on." Cespedes and Josh Donaldson each had two hits for the As. Oakland has won four of five and is a season-high 16 games over .500. Their record is one game better than cross-bay rival San Francisco. "Anytime in the season that you can say you have the best record in baseball, its satisfying," Melvin said. "But theres a lot of baseball yet to be played. At least for the time being it feels good." Luke Gregerson pitched the eighth, and Sean Doolittle worked the ninth for his ninth save. Kyle Beckerman Jersey. Nick Tepesch (2-3) went five innings for Texas. Choo drove in both runs for the Rangers. "We have to get more than five innings out of our starting pitching and we have to have a shutdown inning after we score runs," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "Somehow that (Oakland) lineup is always functioning. Somebody is always having a good day." Melvin shuffled his lineup and didnt start centre fielder Coco Crisp and second baseman Eric Sogard. Oaklands offence didnt miss a beat. John Jaso replaced Crisp in the leadoff spot and knocked in the As first run with a double in the third. Craig Gentry, who filled in at centre field, added two hits and scored a run. Second baseman Alberto Callaspo also had two hits. That was enough for Gray, who gave up two runs and six hits. He improved to 8-2 with a 1.90 ERA in 13 career starts against teams from within the As division. "He was keeping us off balance," said outfielder Alex Rios, who doubled off Gray in the fourth. "He managed his slider well. and his fastball had good velocity. He was locating it well." Cespedes scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the inning. He singled off Tepesch and scored on Moss double to right, barely beating the throw home with a headfirst slide. After Donaldson singled Moss to third, Stephen Vogt hit a short sacrifice fly to left to put Oakland up 4-2. Tepesch remained winless since May 26. He allowed nine hits over five innings with two walks and one strikeout. NOTES: Doolittle hasnt allowed a run in 22 1/3 innings, the longest active streak in the AL. ... Sacramento, CA (SportsNetwork. Nike Free Noir Et Rose .com) - Rudy Gay had 28 points and nine rebounds in the Sacramento Kings 104-83 rout of the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. Darren Collison made a career-high five 3-pointers en route to 24 points for the Kings, who snapped a 12-game losing streak against Oklahoma City. DeMarcus Cousins contributed 23 points and 15 rebounds. I thought tonight was the first night in a long time where we really committed on the defensive end, Collison said. I dont know if it was the stage of the game playing a team like OKC, but I thought our urgency was really high tonight. Kevin Durant ended with 24 points and nine boards for the Thunder, who have dropped two straight. Reggie Jackson had 14 points and Serge Ibaka tallied 11 points, 10 rebounds and a season-high eight blocks. Dion Waiters scored four points on 1-of-9 shooting in his debut with Oklahoma City, which acquired him from the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a three-team deal on Monday in exchange for a first-round pick. The Thunder dealt Lance Thomas to the New York Knicks as part of the trade. Ahead 11-7 midway through the first quarter, the Kings created some distance with a 14-0 run. Cousins scored the final nine points of the surge to make it 25-7. We found the good shots but couldnt hit them tonight, Durant said. When you get down 25-7 thats when you start to rush and turn the ball over. So we have to go back to the drawing board and get our next one. The Thunder responded with nine straight points, but trailed 28-16 heading to the second. Sacramento led by as many as 16 in the second and took a 53-43 edge into the locker room. The Kings put the game out of reach with a 17-7 run to start the third quarter. Collison recorded eight points during the burst that Cousins capped with a layup for a 70-50 advantage. He badly wants to erase the doubts about the health of his three times surgically-repaired right shoulder. He wants, once and for all, to eliminate the too-good-to-be-true cloud that hovers over his unlikely story. After yet another all-too-brief outing, four innings plus three batters in Wednesday nights 10-8 loss to the Orioles, McGowan admitted that hes wearing out sooner than hed like. "Maybe a little bit," said McGowan when asked if he feels fatigued. "I do seem at 60 pitches, I kind of seem to be falling backwards a little bit, I guess you could say. But I feel good, my arm feels great, its just sometimes it seems like the ball is not coming out quite right after 60, 65 pitches." Theres some positive in there with that negative. His arm, he insists, is healthy. Hes pleased with how he feels when hes pitching. Hes encouraged with his bounce back in the days after an outing. The problem, it seems, relates to a lack of stamina. "The body just feels like it runs out of steam a little bit," said McGowan. "I shouldnt be feeling that, I should be at the point where I can go 90-100, especially the way my arm feels. It feels great." Pressed further, McGowan didnt deny hes had thoughts about giving up his starters spot and returning to the bullpen. "You think about that, but right now Im planning on being a starter and Ive got to get past that hurdle sometime," he said. His unlikely return to the rotation aside, its important to put McGowans issues in context. While hed openly mused about taking one more shot at being a starter as far back as last September, and general manager Alex Anthopoulos was supportive of McGowans winter efforts to stretch out, there wasnt a realistic expectation hed be leaving the bullpen. McGowan found a home there last season, posting a 2.45 ERA in 25 appearances and showing the stuff of a late-inning, high leverage, shut down reliever. Then this year, toward the end of spring training, the Blue Jays fell just short in the pursuit of free agent right-hander Ervin Santana. There was a spot to fill behind R.A. Dickey, Drew Hutchison, Mark Buehrle and Brandon Morrow. J.A. Happ dealt with back inflammation and pancaked with four awful Grapefruit League starts, resulting in a season-starting stint on the disabled list. Marcus Stroman was inconsistent and started the year with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. Aaron Sanchez, whose repertoire has Blue Jays personnel frothing, is working at Double-A New Hampshire and his innings are being monitored early in the season. Esmil Rogers and Todd Redmond are best suited for long relief, which left McGowan as the best option. This despite the fact he suffered through a bout with a nasty stomach virus in early March, which docked about a week off his spring training schedule and pushed back efforts to get him multiple-inning appearances. "It could be," said McGowan of whether his shorter than expected spring has caught up with him. "We sped it up a lot, usually you wouldnt increase that much that fast, but we had to and we did it. Ive just got to find a way. Theres a way, Ive just got to get it past that hurdle." Whats still unclear is how long the Blue Jays are willing to give him. Stroman is off to a fine start with the Bisons, posting a 2.18 ERA, 1.355 WHIP and 26 strikeouts against six walks in three starts. His time is coming. So is Sanchezs, eventually. Could it be sooner rather than later? A Relievers Approach The Blue Jays entered Wednesdays action a Top-100 team in relief innings pitched. Nike Free Flyknit 3.0 Femme. . Relievers have hurled 67 2/3 innings so far this season, getting on average about 10 outs per game. The bullpen is its own world, made up of pitchers who take different approaches to getting ready and staying fresh in case theyre called on to appear in games on consecutive days. Take Brett Cecil, a closer during his sophomore year at the University of Maryland in 2006. By the time he debuted in the big leagues in 2009, he was a starter. Cecil won a career-high 15 games in 2010, then had a mysterious drop in velocity on his fastball, struggled, and has since revived his career as a left-handed relief specialist. "Its just kind of an everyday thing about how I feel," said Cecil of a days preparation. "Whether Im off that day, whether Im going to throw that day; it just all depends on the night before, the two nights before, what Ive done. If I need to stretch, I stretch. If I need to lift, I go lift." Cecil is being careful early in the season after experiencing elbow pain late last year. He made a career-high 60 appearances before being shut down in mid-September. The games he could handle but as a former starter, Cecil was learning how to prepare for relief work. Hes got a better handle on the demands this season. "I wasnt sure how to police myself being a reliever so the days that I felt like throwing a flat ground, I would throw a flat ground," said Cecil. "Did I really need it? No." Cecil believes its easier on the arm to be a starter. You pitch every fifth day, working through a rest, treatment, throwing regimen in-between starts. In relief, you could pitch on back-to-back days and then sit for a number of games. There are periods of consistent work, every other day. Its unpredictable. If a reliever has a two-pitch outing, like Cecil did on Friday night in Cleveland, it counts as a days work so when he throws again on Saturday, as he did against the Indians, hes not available for Sunday. "Thats one of those things that people dont see," said Cecil. "We as bullpen guys dont get a chance to gradually warm up. Its, youve got to get on the mound and throw and youve got to get hot in a very short amount of time. It puts a lot of stress on the arm." Closer Sergio Santos didnt appear in Tuesday nights win over the Orioles but with the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth, he was warming up to pitch the ninth. Its not an appearance in Santos stats line but it is a day of work. "I had two days off plus an off day so it was technically three days off," said Santos. "It was fine for me to get off the mound and I threw maybe eight to 10 pitches. Just something to where I was sharp enough that if the inning were to end, Id be able to go out and do my job and if it didnt, then it was just a day of a little bit more than a flat ground." Santos is less concerned about a day like Tuesday in April but come July and August, the dog days of summer, relievers become more concerned with "saving their bullets." That is, throw when needed and to stay ready; just dont throw any more than whats required. Bullpen coach Bob Stanley charts pitches thrown and keeps track of each relievers throwing schedule. Guys have different warmup routines. Santos likes eight to 12 pitches off the mound before entering a game. Cecil likes 15 to 20, throwing the final five at maximum capacity. If hes rushed, hell factor in the eight pitches he gets on the game mound. "Some guys warm up with an intensity that matches almost the game and can be harder," said Santos. TORONTO -- A star athlete from Cole Harbour, N. NBA Jerseys From China .S., sidelined by a concussion at the peak of his game. Its not a new story, but this time the athlete in question is UFC lightweight contender T.J. Grant rather than hockey superstar Sidney Crosby. The 29-year-old mixed martial arts fighter missed out on an August title shot and has had to pass on another slated for December while he waits to feel normal. Ask Grant these days how he is feeling and the answer is not simple. "Not too bad. Feeling all right," he said in a recent interview. "It could be better ... Im a lot better now than I was, thats for sure." Some days, it feels like one step forward, two steps back. But despite the occasional setback, the hard-nosed fighter says he is still on the road to recovery. "Progress is getting a little slower again. But it was going pretty good," he said. He says he does some "light activity ... to keep myself from going crazy." Grant (21-5) was riding a high after knocking out Gray (The Bully) Maynard two minutes seven seconds into their May 25 showdown at UFC 160. That earned the Canadian a shot at then-champion Ben (Smooth) Henderson. But two weeks later, Grant was hit in the head by his training partners foot during a jiu-jitsu session. Later in the session, he used his head to stop a sweep and was hit again. "I dont know which one it was," he said of the head blows. "All I know is just when I was done training, I didnt feel right." He saw a doctor and was diagnosed with a concussion -- his first. "I took my time hoping it would just heal up and I could get back at it. It just took longer than I expected. So thats kind of where I am now." For those who have not had one, its hard to imagine the disruption of a concussion. "Especially earlier on, I had difficulty concentrating, just carrying on a conversation with somebody. Just simple things that you do every day that are a lot more difficult," said Grant, ranked third among 155-pound contenders. The proud father of a five-month-old daughter, Grants symptoms were set off early on by the baby crying. Motion also made him nauseous. "Im getting past a lot of that stuff. Now I just have a little bit of a headache ... The worst is definitely behind me." But there are still limits to what he can do. He came to Toronto recently to do some TV work and appearances around UFC 165. "After the weekend I was a little bit worn out," he acknowledged. Grant says time is whats needed. Hes happy with the team he has helping him, with physiotherapy to work on his balance and regular visits to a chiropractor to have work done on his neck. The UFC has offered help and paid for an MRI, that came back clean. But inactivity must feel strange after years in a sport built around complex layers of training. And the lightweight merry-go-round continues in his absence. Replacement challenger Anthony (Showtime) Pettis submitted Henderson in the first round of UFC 164 on Aug. 31 to win the championship belt. The UFC had hoped Pettis would make his first title defence in December against Grant in Sacramento. But Grant said he would not be ready. "Its one of those unfortunate things that can happen in a contact sport," UFC president Dana White said when asked about Grant. "Were not going anywhere. The kids just got to take his time, heal up, and relax and well see what happens." Theres never a good time to be injured in the UFC, given inactivity equals no paycheque. But this timing particularly sucks. Grant, ranked third among lightweight contenders, was on a roll having won five straight since dropping down to 155 pounds from welterweight. "The belts going to be there no matter who has the belt," White said. "It will be there and well figure the T.J. Grant thing out when T.J. Grants healthy." In the meantime, the December title shot has been given to No. 4 Josh Thompson. Even talk of title shots has consequences for Grant. "Im trying not to put too much pressure on myself," he said. "Being offered fights and stuff like that was definitely putting more pressure (on me) which causes you to stress out and make things worse. "Man, Im just worrying about just getting better, taking it slow. No real pressure. When I feel 100 per cent and Im able to return to training and all that stuff, then Ill start looking for a fight. "For now, Im not really too much worried about it." White says concussions are monitored closely in that the sport is regulated by government agencies, with mandatory suspensions after knockouts. Often fighters have to be cleared by a doctor before they can step back into the cage after a bad loss. Injuries in training are tougher to monitor, he acknowledged. "We cant baby-sit everybody. We cant police grown men," White said prior to UFC 165. "We can lay down the rules. "If you are on a three month suspension because you were hit in the head or whatever your deal is in a fight and you go back into the gym and start sparring again, first of all youre a moron. No 2, the people who handle you probably dont care about you." Grant has been healthy the majority of his career, missing just two previous fights through injury or sickness in his 7.5-year pro career. He says he has known other fighters who had concussions. "Some guys try to hide it and keep going. They think its like any other injury. But I dont want to be that guy. So I want to do it as safely as possible. I want to enjoy my life, thats for sure." Grant has plenty of motivation on that front. He married wife Belinda on the weekend. They planned to slip away for a few days but with a young daughter the focus of attention, a real honeymoon will likely have to wait a while. As for Crosby, Grant says he does not know the Penguins star so has not been able to share war stories. It would make for an interesting conversation. "No doubt," Grant said with a chuckle.
