And the young leadoff hitter kept coming through for the Miami Marlins. Yelich set career highs with four hits and four RBIs, including the go-ahead two-run single in the seventh inning, as the Marlins beat the Texas Rangers 8-5 on Tuesday night for their record-tying 13th consecutive interleague victory. "Oh really, thats awesome, I guess," Yelich said about the streak, after first asking what it was. "I guess we just like playing (AL teams) and play well against them." The 13-game interleague winning streak matched the major league record shared by the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, who both reached that mark in 2004. The Marlins, 8-0 vs. American League teams this season, wrap up their quick two-game set in Texas on Wednesday. "Its one of those baseball things you probably cant figure out," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "Im sure theres probably somebody a lot smarter than me that can figure it out, but we just go out there and try to win a ball game." Yelichs single in the seventh inning sent home two unearned runs and put the Marlins ahead to stay, after the Rangers had taken the lead with a four-run sixth. There was also his tiebreaking two-run double in the fourth and the hustling double in the sixth when he scored on Casey McGehees two-out hit. "That was a great play, a big momentum-builder for us," Redmond said. "Anytime you can press the issue with base runners, you put pressure on them and it fires the guys up." Bryan Morris (5-0), the third Marlins pitcher, struck out two in 1 1-3 scoreless innings. Steve Cishek worked a perfect ninth with two strikeouts for his 15th save in 16 chances. Texas right-hander Jason Frasor (1-1) was responsible for the two unearned runs while facing four batters. Miami took advantage of second baseman Rougned Odoors fielding error on a potential double play in the seventh when Yelichs two-out single made it 6-5. Nike Air Max Mujer Outlet. "In the end, we didnt play the defence we were capable of playing. That hurt us," manager Ron Washington said. "We fought hard to get back into that game but we shot ourselves in the foot." Garrett Jones drove in two runs for the Marlins, including his RBI double in the eighth right after the Rangers committed two errors on one play, when Giancarlo Stanton went from first to third on a ball hit to left and then scored on the miscues. Texas went ahead 5-4 after their sixth-inning outburst capped off when Brad Snyder, called up from Triple-A Round Rock earlier Tuesday, scored from second base when Odor beat out a slow chopper for an infield single. Marlins starter Tom Koehler struck out seven through five innings, but the right-hander then allowed the first four batters to reach in the sixth, including a bases-loaded walk to Snyder, before Robinson Chirinos had his second sacrifice fly of the game. Yelich doubled off the base of the wall in centre field for a 3-1 lead in the fourth off Colby Lewis, after Justin Bour had a single and Jeff Mathis drew a walk to start the inning. Mathis might have been out at the plate if shortstop Elvis Andrus relay throw hadnt been cut off near the mound by Snyder, who was playing first base in the major leagues for the first time. An outfielder before playing his last two Triple-A games at first base, Snyder came up when Mitch Moreland (left ankle) was put on the 15-day disabled list. NOTES: The Rangers are 15-19 at home, including 2-6 on this homestand after coming off their longest trip of the season with a 7-4 record. ... Miami had 14 hits and left 13 runners on base. ... The vision is close to becoming a reality. Nike Free Grise Et Rose . As Hamilton Bulldogs owner Michael Andlauer sat through the NHLs Heritage Classic outdoor game at McMahon Stadium last February, all he could think about what hosting a similar event in his own backyard. "I believe that the game out in Calgary really touched home with him," Ed Chamberlain, the Bulldogs vice-president of sales and marketing, said in a recent interview. "Our owner approached me and said he was at the Heritage Classic last year and that he really wants to put an outdoor game in Hamilton. "He said `I think it would be unbelievable. ... And here we are." The Bulldogs are scheduled to face the rival Toronto Marlies at Ivor Wynne Stadium -- home to the CFLs Hamilton Tiger-Cats -- on Saturday afternoon. The temporary ice surface was built by Ice Rink Events and saw its first action Monday, with staff from the two American Hockey League teams and members of the media given a chance to test it out. The Marlies and Bulldogs are also planning to practise at Ivor Wynne this week and an alumni game is scheduled for Friday night. "Were going to try and use it as much as we can," said Chamberlain. "The more people skate on it the better the ice gets. It gets stronger." The game marks the second time the AHL has taken its product outdoors in a matter of weeks -- and the fourth time overall. Adirondack and Hershey played before a sellout crowd at Philadelphias Citizens Bank Park on Jan. 6., four days after the NHLs Winter Classic. Like the NCAA and NHL, the AHL is an enthusiastic supporter of such events. "Our experiences have been outstanding with outdoor games," said AHL president Dave Andrews. "The players, coaches, officials and fans see the events as unique celebrations of the sport. "While the NHL Winter Classics and our AHL outdoor events have been televised, very few fans in most locations have ever had the chance to experience them." Chamberlain estimates that as many as 22,000 fans can be fit it into Ivor Wynne, which is below CFL capacity because one end of the stadium has been eliminated due to poor sightlines. As of Monday, tickets were still available. Even after the Marlies and Bulldogs face one another, the rink will remain in place for a week. It should be busy, too. "Were going to have community skates, were going to have youth hockey teams playing," said Chamberlain. "We have a lot of different activities going on over a two-week span. "Well have people on the ice from eight in the morning until 11 oclock in the evening." Even though numerous outdoor hockey games have been held over the last decade -- starting with the Michigan-Michigan State "Cold War" matchup in 2001 -- the concept still seems to have plenty of life left in it. "Our game last week in Philly was spectacular with 45,000 fans attending," said Andrews. "It was a great event which received rave reviews from players and fans. I expect that the experience at Ivor Wynne will also be very special for all involved. "I am really looking forward to it." Hes far from the only one. Andlauer wanted to ensure as many people as possible could experience the outdoor setting -- whether its attending the Bulldogs-Marlies game or having a chance to skate on the rink themselves. "This is the first event in the last season of Ivor Wynne Stadium," said Chamberlain. "Theyre building a brand new football field and we thought it would be cool to kind of launch it off with this. The second part of it is we want to do something special for the city of Hamilton. "Our owner really loves the whole area here and he said `Lets do something different, lets do something that people will remember. " Nike Free 3.0 Review 2016 Running . Cammalleri suffered a concussion in the Flames 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. The 31-year-old forward did not travel with the team to Carolina.NEW YORK -- Jose Fernandez arrived early. Wil Myers made it big after a blockbuster trade. Neither one needed much time to create a splash, and together they brought both Rookie of the Year awards back to Florida. Fernandez stood out in a very deep National League class this season, and the precocious Miami Marlins pitcher received 26 of 30 first-place votes from a Baseball Writers Association of America panel in results announced Monday. Myers won the American League prize after the Tampa Bay slugger put up impressive offensive numbers in barely half a season. The right fielder was chosen first on 23 of 30 ballots, beating out Detroit shortstop Jose Iglesias and Rays teammate Chris Archer. "Honestly, when I was called up that didnt even cross my mind. As the season went on I could see I would have a chance," Myers said on a conference call from his North Carolina home. "To be able to win is just a huge honour and Im very excited about it." The two announcements marked the beginning of awards week in baseball. NL and AL Manager of the Year will be revealed Tuesday, with the Cy Young winners Wednesday and MVPs on Thursday. Myers became the third Tampa Bay player in six years to be selected Rookie of the Year, joining Jeremy Hellickson (2011) and Evan Longoria (200. Seated next to each other, Myers and Archer smiled and shook hands when the winner was revealed on MLB Network. Fernandez easily topped runner-up Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers as Cuban players ran 1-2 in the NL race. The only previous Rookie of the Year winners from Cuba came in the AL: Jose Canseco in 1986 and Tony Oliva in 1964. "It means a lot just to be compared to those guys," Fernandez said. "Im not sure I was even born when those guys were playing. But for sure I heard the names before. ... All the kids in Cuba play baseball." Puig received the other four first-place votes and amassed 95 points to 142 for Fernandez, who made the All-Star team at age 20. He went 12-6 with a 2.19 ERA and 187 strikeouts for a last-place club that finished 62-100. Fernandez was shut down in September after 172 2-3 innings to protect his precious arm. Still, his debut season was so superb that hes one of three finalists for the NL Cy Young Award -- though Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is a heavy favourite. Fernandez already has one big prize, however, and he hugged his mother and grandmother when he won. He came to the United States by boat as a Cuban refugee in 2008, apparently rescuing his mom along the way. Drafted 14th overall in 2011 out of high school in Tampa, Fla., he had never pitched above Class A before this season. Fernandez was ticketed for Double-A Jacksonvillee at the end of spring training when injuries left two holes in Miamis rotation. Nike Roshe Run Flyknit Blanche. Fernandez became an unexpected addition to the roster, making him the youngest pitcher on a major league team on opening day. "I wasnt planning on being in the big leagues," he said. The surprises havent stopped -- on and off the mound. One day before winning the rookie award, a shocked Fernandez was reunited with his grandmother in Florida with help from his lawyer. "Out of nowhere," the pitcher said. "I have no idea how it happened." Now, she can visit for a few years and see him play in the majors. "Pretty excited about that," Fernandez said. After the Marlins dumped nearly all their high-priced stars last winter, Fernandez was a rare bright spot this season. The right-hander became the fourth Marlins player in 11 years to win Rookie of the Year, following Chris Coghlan (2009), Hanley Ramirez (2006) and Dontrelle Willis (2003). "Im very happy that he won," Puig told MLB.com in comments circulated by the Dodgers. "He worked really hard to achieve this and he pitched extremely well with Miami and he deserved this just as we deserved to be nominated. I am happy for him, that a Cuban won. Im happy his grandmother arrived and I hope he enjoys his time with his grandmother and enjoys the prize he won." The 22-year-old Myers batted .293 with 13 home runs and 53 RBIs in only 88 games after he was called up from the minors June 18. He immediately added much-needed power to the middle of the Rays lineup, helping them reach the playoffs as an AL wild card. Myers was rated one of baseballs best hitting prospects when he was traded from Kansas City to Tampa Bay last December in a seven-player deal that sent pitchers James Shields and Wade Davis to the Royals. "There were some mixed feelings in leaving Kansas City," Myers acknowledged. "I dont want to say they gave up on me. They made a move they thought would better their team and it did." Worked out well for Tampa Bay, too. The Rays were 36-33 before Myers arrived this season and went 56-38 the rest of the way. They won a tiebreaker at Texas for the final AL playoff berth and beat Cleveland in the wild-card game before getting eliminated by World Series champion Boston in the division series. Myers finished with 131 points in the balloting to 80 for the slick-fielding Iglesias, traded from the Red Sox to the Tigers just before the deadline in late July. Both teams ended up in the AL championship series. Iglesias was listed first on five ballots. Archer and fellow pitcher Dan Straily of the Oakland Athletics each got one first-place vote. Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. New Balance 574 Uomo .ca! Kerry, Two nights after the Scott-Eriksson incident in Buffalo, the Bruins returned home to play San Jose. In that game, Zdeno Chara put a check on Tommy Wingels that clearly targeted his head. This check was not a late check as Scotts. However, the check still targeted the head of an opposing player! Please explain the consistency/inconsistency of penalties called here? Tom Van Dusen --- Kerry, Can you explain why the NHL has completely ignored the high hit Chara leveled in Thursday nights game against the Sharks? It was on Tommy Wingels - It was well late and you can see Chara appear to intentionally go high by bringing his arms up right before contact. So the size differential between the players shouldnt be a factor. How to on-ice officials missed it is beyond me, but more perplexing is the league ignoring them as well? How can they say they are serious about head shots and player safety, but allow these hits to go unpunished? Looking forward to your insight. Spencer Doherty CLICK HERE TO VIEW VIDEO Tom and Spencer: Call me a dreamer but in a "perfect NHL" I would like nothing better than to see all contact to the head eliminated. The harsh reality is that given the speed of this contact sport, attack angles and body position can often be altered just prior to an intended legal hit. As a result, there are times when I am afraid to admit contact to the head will continue to occur. Under the current playing rules, contact to the head in almost all cases should be worthy of at least a minor penalty; but not always a suspension. The intended check by Zdeno Chara that resulted in Tommy Wingels head becoming the main point of contact is one of these times. The call on the ice should have resulted in a minor for high-sticking or two minutes for illegal check to the head. Every play must be judged on its own merit. Several factors, including the language contained in rule 48, must be considered when a potential suspension is warranted. Rather than looking at the current rule as ambiguous (which admittedly is not easy to do) let us attempt to dissect the language and apply it to Charas hit on Wingels versus the other end of the spectrum; John Scotts head shot on Loui Eriksson. An illegal check to the head results when the head was the main point of contact and such contact to the head was avoidable. In determining if Charas contact to Wingels head was avoidable, we must factor in the following: i) Whether the player (Chara) attempted to hit squarely through the opponents body and the head was not picked as a result of poor timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the body upward or outward. ii) Whether the opponent (Wingels) put himself in a vulnerable position by assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full body check unavoidable. iii) Whether the opponent (Wingels) materially changed the position of his body or head immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way that significantly contributed to the head contact. Zdeno Chara approached Tommy Wingels to make a hit squarely through the body with his shoulder. Charas hands and stick, based on his left shooting posture, were positioned in front of the intended contact and to seal off Wingels route to the net at the boards. Tommy Wingels anticipated the contact from Chara after releasing the puck to teammate Tomas Hertl directly behind the Bruins net and ducked down in an attempt to slip the intended check by Big Z. Chara reacted to this material change of Wingels body position at the last second by extending his hands to make contact; albeit to the head/helmet of his opponent. I deem this illegal contact to be a high-sticking infraction or a minor penalty for illegal check to the head, if you prefer! How could it be missed on the ice, you asked? The referee, deep in the corner on the opposite side of the ice, set up in a direct line looking through Hertl who provided an obstructed view for the finish of Charas hit on Wingels. Referee-1 became a puck watcher on the play and missed Charas infraction as Hertl received the pass with no threat of being checked by a Bruins defender. There was no need for Ref-1 to maintain a visual focus on Hertl at this time. Ref 2 on the same side of the ice and outside the blue line as Zdeno Charas hit was most likely obstructed by Charas body and did not see the hands come up to make contact with Wingels head. These reasons do not excuse the fact that both Refs missed the call on the ice but provide you with some insight as to how it could have occurred. Both Refs needed to move their feet to gain the proper angle and retain a focus of attention on the finish of Zdeno Charas illegal check on Tommy Wingels. While this play was deserving of a two minute penalty (but no suspension), I would like to see the maximum allowable fine implemented in all cases where the head was the main point of contact resulting from an illegal check. The capability to fine players is currently within the arsenal of the Player Safety Committee to help act as a deterrent for contact to the head of an opponent. New Balance 574 . Woods told The Associated Press on Thursday he has been fined $15,000 by the NFL for punching Dolphins safety Reshad Jones. "I wasnt surprised, I was just waiting for when," Woods said, referring to the official notice he received from the league upon arriving for practice. The altercation occurred in the third quarter of Buffalos 19-0 win Sunday. Woods and Jones became tangled up during a running play and eventually wrestled each other to the ground. Woods was unhappy with how Jones threw him into a pile of players following the whistle. Jones was on one knee and had his back turned when Woods caught him with an uppercut across the facemask. Woods said earlier this week he regretted losing his cool, while adding hes learned his lesson. On the injury front, coach Doug Marrone has yet to determine whether rookie quarterback EJ Manuel will be ready to start Sunday, when Buffalo (6-9) closes its season aat New England (11-4). Nike Roshe Run Mesh Donna. Manuel was limited in practice for a second consecutive day and looked "improved," Marrone said. Manuel missed last weeks game because of a swollen left knee, which he hurt in a 27-20 win at Jacksonville the previous weekend. Backup Thad Lewis would make his second start and fifth of the season if Manuels not ready. Lewis was listed as practicing fully despite a sore left shoulder. Marrone is still factoring how stable Manuels knee is and whether he has enough mobility to run the offence. Buffalo has already been eliminated from playoff contention. The Bills do have a chance to win three straight for the first time since opening the 2011 season 3-0. With a 3-2 record against AFC East rivals, they have a chance to match their best record since the NFL realigned its divisions in 2002. A quarterback decision could come as early as Friday, after Marrone indicated he would prefer to choose his starter sooner than later. Safety Aaron Williams (ribs) did not practice, and is in jeopardy of missing his second straight game. AUBURN HILLS, Mich. Cheap Authentic Jerseys . -- Thirty years ago, the Detroit Pistons beat the Denver Nuggets 186-184 in triple overtime, a game that remains the highest scoring in NBA history. Saturday, the same teams played a game that also featured very little defence. Once again, it was Detroit coming out on top, riding a combined 65 points and 20 assists from Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith to post a 126-109 victory. Randy Foye led the Nuggets with 25 points, while Wilson Chandler scored 20 and J.J. Hickson added 15 points and 16 rebounds. Denver lost point guard Ty Lawson to a fractured rib late in the first half. Evan Fournier replaced him at the start of the second half, with Foye moving from shooting guard to the point, and Denver wasnt able to keep up the scoring pace. "You could see it take the wind out of us when Ty came out of the game," Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said. "Hes our floor leader and hes the one who controls the pace and the tempo of the game. Hes also the best guy we have to stay in front of Jennings." Still, Detroit needed to put up its highest point total in regulation since March 18, 2008, when they scored 136 against, of course, the Nuggets. "Thats a product of the way Denver plays," Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said. "Were not used to playing at that kind of pace, but we stepped up and made the adjustments to stay with them." The win was a victory of sorts for embattled Pistons President Joe Dumars, who saw his two big off-season acquisitions put up big numbers. Jennings had a season-high 35 points and 12 assists -- the first Piston to do that since Isiah Thomas in 1988 -- while Smith had 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. "I think that pushing the ball and making it an up-tempo game made it easier to get the shots that weve been looking for," Smith said. "Guys were setting screens, we were communicating and talking on defence, and it was good. Its fun to be part of something when were doing it the right way." Jennings also hit six 3-pointers, something he has struggled with all season. His outside shooting was important on a night when Denver hit 15 3s and Jennings teammates only combined for two. Rodney Stuckey added 19 points for Detroit, while Andre Drummond had 18 points and 15 rebounds. "Were not going to win too many games when we give up 126 points," Shaw said. With both teams on the second night of back-to-back games, it was clear early that this was not going to be a defensive struggle. The Nuggets jumped out to a quick lead by hitting their first four 3-point attempts, but Detroit was able to get to the rim at will, scoring 40 points in the paint before halftime. Chandler and Foye combined for 23 points in the half -- 21 on 3-pointers -- but Denver had to adjust their attack with Lawson on the bench. The Nuggets turned the ball over twice in the opening moments of the third quarter, but Hickson pulled down six rebounds in the first three minutes of the period to keep Denver in the game. Denver was within 97-86 at quarters end, putting the pressure on a Detroit team that has struggled all season to hold fourth-quarter leads. Sure enough, even though Shaw had to go to Randolph and Jordan Hamilton, the Nuggets used an 8-0 lead to pull within 106-100 with 7:14 to play. Detroit forced enough turnovers to end Denvers surge and Jennings iced the game with a pair of late 3-pointers. "We are just being careless with the ball," Foye said. "As a team, we have to do a better job of fighting. We can make shots and we can make threes, but when it comes down to making stops, we have to do that, too." NOTES: Will Bynum did not play for the second straight game, and hasnt been on the floor since an argument with Cheeks during a loss in Orlando on Wednesday. ... Chauncey Billups, who played for the first time in a month on Friday, also sat out Saturdays game. ... John Long, who scored 41 points in the NBAs highest-scoring game, was broadcasting Saturdays shootout for Detroit radio, filling in for Rick Mahorn. ... The Saints later announced that Graham sat out the team drills, which are closed to reporters, and coach Sean Payton declined to discuss Grahams prospects for playing against the Lions.Payton also stopped short of guaranteeing that Ingram would play in Detroit.Hes doing well and we will kind of see how we handle that on Sunday, Payton said. He also scored three touchdowns. It was disappointing, frustrating to have an injury, Ingram said. There wasnt much I could do about it. I had to get the surgery, just try and be positive and it wasnt a long term injury. The Saints still moved the ball well in his absence, with hard-running second-year pro Khiry Robinson and veteran Pierre Thomas sharing most of the carries. The Saints rank eighth in the NFL in rushing with about 133 yards per game, and theyre averaging 5.2 yards per carry as a team.Meanwhile, New Orleans ranks second in passing with 309.8 yards per game, and quarterback Drew Brees said hes confident thhe Saints offence is dynamic enough to maintain such production if Graham sits out. But Im really confident those other guys are going to do a great job.Brees stressed that he has plenty of confidence in veteran tight end Ben Watson as well as second-year tight end Josh Hill, whose seven catches include one for 37-yards and a 34-yard touchdown. While the Saints are 2-3, moving the ball has not been one of their problems. Their 442.8 yards per game ranks behind only Indianapolis, which averages 444 yards. However, the Saints are 13th in scoring with 26.4 points per game. Theyve been hurt by 10 turnovers, including Brees six interceptions.I feel like weve run the ball very well. I feel like weve been very balanced. I feel like weve maintained a lot of long drives that ended up in touchdowns, Brees said. Id say weve turned the ball over too much, which is my responsibility, more so than anybody.Brees said the Saints also are not hitting on as many big plays as usual, but added, You can only take what the defence is giving you. You dont want to read into that too much because then all the sudden you feel like we have to manufacture these big plays, we have to force these big plays, and if theyre not there, thats when some of those mistakes come.Since Payton, who designed the offence, and Brees arrived in New Orleans in 2006, the Saints have never ranked worse than sixth in yards gained for a whole season, and have ranked first four times.Right tackle Zach Strief has also been with New Orleans since 2006, and noted, As long as we have Drew and as long as we have coach Payton, I think that well be a consistently good offence.Notes: FB Erik Lorig, who has yet to play this season because of an ankle injury, practiced fully on Wednesday, as did C Jonathan Goodwin, who was knocked out of New Orleans previous game with a knee bruise. ... WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State John Kerry, the most powerful politician in the house, performed a ceremonial puck drop to send the Olympians on their way. Air Max Thea Blancas . Alex Ovechkin, the biggest hockey star in the arena, scored his league-leading 40th goal to give his team the lead in the third period. Set aside those two larger-than-life names for a moment, however, and look at the trio who occupy the score sheet for the crucial tying goal early in the third period of the Washington Capitals 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night. Patrick Wey (second NHL game). Julien Brouillette (first NHL game). Tom Wilson (second NHL goal). "It was a simple play, but it was nice that we ended up scoring," Wey said. "And Im really excited." Simple but effective. Wey passed cross-ice to Brouillette, who then deliberately shot wide of the net to set up a carom off the boards that eventually made its way to Wilson. "The play Brou made, banking it off the boards like that, I thought that was a great play," Washington coach Adam Oates said. "And obviously it worked, the bounce was right. ... It gave us a lot of life." Wey and Brouillette had arrived in town the night before, having been recalled from Hershey of the AHL to serve as the third defensive pairing because the Capitals had run out of healthy bodies. "From what I expected," Oates said, "they were fantastic." The Wey-Brouillette-Wilson goal made the score 2-2, setting the stage for Ovechkin. The Russian forward lifted the puck over a pile of bodies in the crease with 12:14 remaining, following up after Nicklas Backstrom had taken two whacks at a rebound before sliding into goaltender Ondrej Pavelec. Troy Brouwer then added his second goal of the game in the closing minutes, and Braden Holtby made 34 saves for the Capitals, who are trying to generate at least a modicum of momentum headed into the Olympic break. Washington had dropped 10 of its previous 13, including a 1-0 shutout loss to the New York Islanders on Tuesday. Bryan Little and Dustin Byfuglien scored, and Pavelec stopped 26 shots for the Jets, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Winnipeg dominated play in the second period before allowing three goals in the third, dropping the team to 9-3 since coach Claude Noel was fired on Jan. 12 and replaced by Paul Maurice. "I think they just did a little bit to us what weve been doing to (other) teams," Maurice said. "They weathered that second-period storm." With the NHLs Olympic break beginning after Saturdays games, Kerry was on hand to recognize the four players from each team headed to Sochi. He then dropped the puck at centre ice between two U.S. Olympians, Winnipegs Blake Wheeler and Washingtons John Carlson. Kerry also met with Capitals coaches and players in the locker room before the game. "I had a good talk with him," Oates said. "But hes obviously a very busy man. He comes with his entourage; its pretty tough to have a chat." NOTES: Littles goal was actually put into the net by Washingtons Martin Erat, something the Czech forward has yet to do for his own team this season. Erat has 21 assists but no goals for the Capitals. ... Oates said Holtby was in goal because scheduled starter Michal Neuvirth wasnt feeling well. ... Brouillette and Wey were needed because D John Erskine (off-season knee surgery) was given a rest day and D Mike Green was still sidelined with a concussion. ... Carlson played in his 272nd consecutive game, breaking Calle Johanssons Capitals record for a defenceman. Nike Air Max 2015 Blancas . Olt, who grew up in Branford, Connecticut, attended UConn and made a nearly 2 1-2 hour trek to Boston a handful of times to watch the Red Sox, belted a two-run homer, one of four hit by Cubs in a 16-9 rout that completed a three-game interleague series sweep.LONDON – Following an early-round win at this years Wimbledon, Genie Bouchard brought a stuffed Cinderella doll to her news conference. A fan had tossed it to her. "I like to think thats me," Bouchard said sheepishly with a smile while looking down at the blonde-haired doll in her hand. "Someone gave me it, because Im a princess." Bouchard was named after royalty: Princess Eugenie, the daughter of Prince Andrew, to be precise. And she admits she does have some "princess-like tendencies" that go beyond just the name. "You can ask my coach or my parents or anyone: I can be a princess," Bouchard admitted eliciting laughs from a throng of reporters. "I mean, theyre not horrible, but I can be moody in the morning. Im not so much of a morning person. My fitness trainer carries my tennis bag around, but thats so I dont get tired, because I want to save all my energy for the match. "I mean, I can demand a few things once in a while, but I do it with love," the 20-year-old said with a big grin. Bouchards Wimbledon campaign has all the elements of a fairytale story. Even a platonic Prince Charming has emerged in the form of an American television star. Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory, has travelled to the All-England Club to support Bouchard. "Its my favourite show," Bouchard explained. "Its a comedy, you know. For me, so many unexpected things, you just burst out laughing. Its a nice way to relax and have a good time. Its less stressful to watch than, say, like a movie on a war or something. Its pretty relaxing, which I love. Jim Parsons character, Sheldon, is my favourite character. Hes so nerdy. I love the character. Hes so smart and set in his ways. "I think the writing of the show is pretty spectacular." Considering how much Bouchard likes the hit sitcom her agent decided to reach out to Parsons last year and invite him to Wimbledon. Parsons was touched, but couldnt attend due to work obligations. However, he started watching Bouchards matches and writing her emails after each one. Theyve become friends through this pen-pal relationship. And now Parsons is finally here in London. "Its a random pairing, right?" Bouchard said again with a huge smile. "Well, its been a year since weve been in contact. Since then hes watched pretty much every match he could watch or else he would follow on live scores. Hes emailed me after every single match Ive played. Hes more positive than all of my team combined. So its a refreshing change to get a nice email with exclamation marks and smiley faces. Im such a big fan of his show. He says hes such a big fan of me. So its really cool that hes here to finally watch me live. "We talk about, you know, the mental aspect in tennis. He says how its similar tto him acting. Air Max Negras y Rojas. He has to be in the moment on set and all these things. Its interesting to see how similar the mentality is in different careers." WATCH: Jim Parsons explains how he and Bouchard became friends With a Prince Charming on site, Bouchard has lived a somewhat charmed life at Wimbledon this year. A seemingly difficult draw opened up a bit when Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova were eliminated one round before they were to face Bouchard. On Monday, Bouchard was scheduled to play on Centre Court, which has a retractable roof, and was able to complete her fourth-round match while all her rivals sat and waited due to a lengthy rain delay. "Im happy I got the experience of playing under the famous roof," Bouchard quipped that day. "I follow the roof on Twitter (@WimbledonRoof) and hes kind of funny. I hope hes proud of how I played today. He was looking down. Hopefully he enjoyed the match." The rest of the field didnt find it so funny as every other woman in the draw was forced to play on Tuesday while Bouchard rested up. Then in the semifinals, opponent Simona Halep injured her foot early in the first set, somewhat limiting her mobility and contributing to her defeat. Everything seems to be falling into place and a lifelong ambition is within reach. "I started playing tennis at five years old," Bouchard said on Friday. "Soon after, you know, it was my dream to become a professional tennis player. I was very young when I decided I wanted to do it. I was nine. Since that age I dreamt of winning a Grand Slam." On Saturday, Bouchard gets that chance. Standing in her way is No. 6 seed Petra Kvitova, the 2011 Wimbledon champion. But Bouchard is a Wimbledon champion as well. It has been just two short years since the Canadian claimed the junior title here. Bouchard likes the grass, which accentuates her aggressive game. She likes the Royal Box, the tradition and even the strict all-white clothing policy at the All England Club. This is her favourite Grand Slam and Bouchard seems to have the crowd on her side in each match she plays. Considering all of the above, it would be fitting if this was the stage where all her hard work pays off. "Its been a long time in the making, you know, for it to finally come together, all the hard work, the talent I know I have, the effort I put in, you know, for it to produce results on the match court. Thats happened this year, but, you know, its been a long time in the making. I wouldnt say its an overnight thing," Bouchard explained. "Ive just been believing in myself more and more and meeting the challenges I faced. I played on the professional tour for a year and I was improving as I was playing that year; the same this year. So every time I have a challenge, I just try to get better. Its really helped." NEWARK, N. Nike Air Max 2016 Zwart .J. -- For the second straight game, the Los Angeles Kings used a strong third period to get a road victory. Dwight King and Anze Kopitar scored third-period goals and Ben Scrivens made 26 saves to lift the Kings to a 2-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday night. Scrivens, playing for the injured Jonathan Quick, got a 3-2 win on Thursday over the Islanders when the Kings scored three times in the third period. The Kings finish their New York City metropolitan area trip with a game at Madison Square Garden on Sunday against the Rangers. "The confidence was there after winning on the island," Scrivens said. "Its obviously important to stop every shot." Scrivens came up with 12 saves in the first period when he was tested by the Devils. "We probably deserved to have one or two in the first period," Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. "We just didnt take advantage in the first. Were not a pretty group offensively. We have to score some ugly goals. We all feel for (Schneider) He cant do more than what hes doing. Its frustrating for all of us." Kings sixth goal of the season came at 13:08. Defenceman Jake Muzzins drive from the left point was redirected by King, standing in front of goalie Cory Schneider. "It came off a line change," King said. "They were battling on the wall and it got to the point, I was wide open at the net and he slid one on the ice and I got a stick on it. We came back last night and tonight. We had to find a way to win and thats what good teams do." Kopitar scored an empty-net goal with 2.9 seconds left. Schneider made 19 saves. "Hes a solid goaltender," Kopitar said of Scrivens. "We got off to a little bit of a slow start and we kept building up our game, making plays. Eventually in the third, we got one." Fridays game was the Kings first visit to the Prudential Center since playing the Devils in the 2012 Stanley Cup finals. The Kings nearly scored 7:33 into the third period. Muzzin centred a puck from the left side of the blue line. New Jersey defenceman Andy Greene put out his stick and deflected it on goal, where Schneider alertly made the save. In the second period, defenceman Peter Harrold was whistled for a four-minute penalty when he was called for high sticking Tyler Toffoli of the Kings. But King was penalized for hooking 50 seconds into the power play and sat for two minutes. Harrold was the recipient of a hit to the head by Jordan Nolan with 1:31 left in the second. The centre put his shoulder down and levelled Harrold with a shot to the side of his head. Harrold was face-down on the ice, but, after play was stopped, he managed to skate off on his own. Harrold returned to regular shifts in the third period. The Devils were the aggressors in the scoreless first period, but couldnt solve Scrivens. "(Schneider) has played unbelievable for us so far this year and we havent given him the goal support," Devils winger Stephen Gionta said. "I thought we played a pretty good controlled game in their end, but we could have gotten to the net a little more." NOTES: The power-play goal by Kopitar in the closing seconds broke a string of 12 straight kills over three games by the Devils. ... Jaromir Jagr has 120 career game-winning goals, just one behind the NHL record held by Gordie Howe. ... FORT WORTH, Texas - Dustin Johnson had played Colonial only once before, six years ago when he didnt even make it to the final round. Nike Roshe Run Saldi Online . In his return to Hogans Alley, Johnson took a one-stroke lead after the first round. Johnson shot a bogey-free 5-under 65 on Thursday, driving a lot of 3-irons off the tees into the fairways and hitting 16 of 18 greens in regulation. "Ive got to keep doing what Im doing," Johnson said. "Ive got a pretty good game plan for the golf course off the tee. So Im going to stick to that, just trying to keep getting birdie looks on every hole." His only birdie on the back nine was a 2-footer at the 177-yard 16th hole. That was enough to lead after his front-side 31 that included a 45-foot birdie putt on the difficult par-4 fifth hole. Hunter Mahan, playing in the group ahead of Johnson, led before a double-bogey 6 at the 433-yard 18th hole for a 66. He was tied for second with Harris English, Tim Wilkinson and Robert Streb. Jimmy Walker, a three-time winner this season, and 20-year-old Dallas native Jordan Spieth were in the group of 10 players at 67. Mahan started eagle-birdie and was already 6 under after a 3-foot birdie on the 178-yard eighth hole. He had two bogeys and two more birdies before his drive at the 18th hole into the right rough, with trees blocking a clear shot to the green. After punching the ball back into the fairway, his approach came settled on the edge of the fringe and he eventually two-putted from 7 feet. "You have to get over it," Mahan said about the disappointing 18th. "Its all about the drive there." Adam Scott, playing as the No. 1 player in the world for the first time, shot 71 after playing his first nine holes at 4-over 39. Scott had bogey-6 on the straight 631-yard 11th hole, his second of the day, when he hit twice from fairway bunkers. After a two-putt from 11 feet at the 433-yard 18th hole, Scott was bogey-free the rest of the way, with consecutive short birdies after making the turn. "I thought I actually hit plenty of good shots," Scott said. "All of a sudden, I had the momentum going the way I wanted and managed to hang on for the next few holes." The Australian said he felt the same as he did before this week when he overtook injured Tiger Woods for the top spot in the world ranking. "Theres not a big difference," Scott said. "Its always the first tee nerves of starting a tournament out, but I certainly didnt feel that much different." Johnsons 65 was the highest score to lead after the first round at Hogans Alley since another 65 in 2002. There were opening 62s in two of the previous three Colonials. When he first played at Colonial in 2008, Johnson made the initial cut. But after a 72 in the third round, he was among six more players trimmed to reduce the field to 73 for the final day. Walker, the FedEx Cup points leader, also played a bogey-free round with a tremendous par-saver at the 470-yard fifth hole after hitting his drive left into the rough under trees. With the ball on a hill several inches below his feet, he hit an off-balance shot to the left of the green. He then chipped up over the bunker, and the ball rolled to inside 4 feet of the cup. "I kind of had a shot, and I went for it, he said. "I had a big high cut over the trees, and didnt hit a very good shot, but it came up just short of the green, and made a great up and down there." Matt Kuchar, ranked No. 4 in the world and with a chance to move to the top with a victory, had birdies at Nos. 11 and 12 early in his round. He then had five bogeys before finally getting his only other birdie on his 16th hole, an 11-foot putt on the 437-yard seventh hole, in a 72. That matched his highest score in his 29 career rounds at Colonial, where he finished second last year. Rickie Fowler, who stars in a series of funny commercials for tournament sponsor Crowne Plaza, played with flu-like symptoms and had two triple bogeys in an 80, the worst score in the 123-player invitational field. The Blue Jays have slugged their way to a pair of victories to open this set, pushing their winning streak to an impressive eight straight games. Tuesdays 9-6 win gave Toronto a fifth straight series victory for the first time since Sept. 17-Oct. 3, 2010 and put the club in position to sweep Tampa Bay in a three-game set for the first time since Aug. 6-8, 2010 in Toronto. Toronto has homered in 10 straight games, with Edwin Encarnacion a big part of that surge. He went deep in last nights win to match a club record for the most homers in a month with 14. That equaled Jose Bautistas mark set in June of 2012. Juan Francisco and Adam Lind also homered, while Bautista went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Torontos 13th win in 15 games. "Everybodys having fun," Encarnacion said. "You can see it on their faces. Were playing great baseball." That also holds true for starter Mark Buehrle, who picked up his Major League- leading ninth win of the season last night. He gave up four runs -- three earned -- over 6 2/3 innings. Sean Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Wil Myers knocked in two runs for the Rays, who had won four in a row prior to this series. Tampa Bay starter Alex Cobb came into Tuesdays start with a 21 2/2 scoreless- innings streak. He stretched that to a club-record 24 2/3 straight frames before the Blue Jays finally got to him for a total of six runs over his five- inning outing. "He was really good, moving along really nicely and all of a suddeen they struck," Rays manager Joe Maddon said of Cobb. Nike Air Max 2016 Italia. Now it will be Chris Archers turn to try and tame the Blue Jays offense and he comes in having not allowed a run in his past two outings. Archer hurled 5 2/3 frames of two-hit ball in a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on May 16, then did not factor into Fridays decision versus Boston despite six scoreless innings. Archer scattered four hits and five walks while matching a career high with 11 strikeouts and throwing a personal high 119 pitches. Walks have been a concern for the right-hander as he has issued 19 free passes over his last five outings, but still comes in 3-2 on the year with a 4.11 earned run average. Archer, 25, is 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA in four previous meetings with the Blue Jays, beating them on April 3 after giving up two runs over six frames with seven strikeouts. The Blue Jays counter with Liam Hendriks, who made his Toronto and season debut with a 3-2 win over Oakland on Friday. The righty yielded one run on three hits and three walks, also fanning three in 5 2/3 frames. "I was given opportunities in Minnesota and I didnt capitalize on them," said the 25-year-old Hendriks, who played for the Twins from 2011-2013. "Now Ive got a different mindset coming into the season of just getting ready, getting aggressive and getting after guys early. "I think its paid dividends so far and hopefully I can continue this trend and stay up here all year." Hendriks, who was 5-0 with a 1.48 ERA in nine games this year with Triple-A Buffalo before getting recalled, faced the Rays once before while with the Twins and did not get a decision, allowing four runs over 5 2/3 frames in the start. KANSAS CITY, Mo. Nike Roshe Run Udsalg . -- Brad Miller stepped to the plate against one of baseballs best closers in the ninth inning of a tied game, a sellout crowd rooting for him to fail. Miller silenced them all with one swing of the bat. The Seattle shortstop pounded a pitch from the Royals Greg Holland just inside the right-field foul pole, his homer breaking a 5-all tie and helping the Mariners to a 7-5 victory Friday night. "That was honestly one of the best baseball games Ive been a part of," Miller said with a grin. "Theyre one of the hottest teams in baseball and I was pumped." Logan Morrison drove in another run later in the ninth to provide some breathing room. "What a swing by Miller. Oh my goodness," he said. "He crushed it." Charlie Furbush (1-4) inherited a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the eighth, but the Mariners reliever calmly retired Mike Moustakas on a lazy popup to shallow right field. Furbush then struck out Alcides Escobar to silence a crowd of 38,475 and keep the game tied. After Holland (0-2) coughed up the lead, Fernando Rodney allowed two singles in the ninth for Seattle. But the veteran closer bounced back to retire pinch-hitter Nori Aoki on a groundout, and then he struck out Alex Gordon on three pitches to earn his 19th save. "They are big league baseball players. Big league ballplayers dont miss mistakes too often," Holland said. "I got up on (Miller) two strikes and didnt get the slider where I wanted. I made a mistake. Sometimes you pay for them and I did tonight." Morrison added a two-run homer for Seattle, which overcame a subpar start from Hisashi Iwakuma to end the Royals five-game winning streak at Kauffman Stadium. Mike Zunino added a solo shot and Robinson Cano drove in two runs, extending his hitting streak to 21 games. Moustakas hit a two-run shot to lead the Royals, who have dropped two in a row after winning 10 straight. Salvador Perez homered and drove in two runs for Kansas City. "Listen, we ran into a buzz saw. These guys are hot and everything is going for them," Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said. "When you run into teams like that you have to play extremely well." Iwakuma went eight shutout innings in each of his two starts against Kansas City this season, and the right-hander was headed that way again with four scoreless frames to start the game. Along the way, Iwakuma struck out the side in the first inning on just 12 pitches. Meanwhile, his offence was staking him to a 5-0 lead. Cano, who has dominated James Shields throughout his career, drove in a run off him in the first inning and another during a three-run fifth that was capped by Morrisons homer. Zuninos solo shot came in the fourth inning, a no-doubt rocket over the bullpen in left. The Royals finally broke through when Perez homered on a meaty 0-2 pitch in the fifth. They didnt stop there, either. Lorenzo Cain followed with a double, and Moustakas belted his eighth homer of the season over the wall in right to trim the Royals deficit to 5-3. Iwakuma escaped the inning, but he quickly ran into more trouble in the sixth. Consecutive singles by Billy Butler and Gordon knocked him from the game, and reliever Dominic Leone gave up the lead when Perez hit an RBI single and Moustakas an RBI groundout to make it 5-all. Iwakuma allowed nine hits and a walk in five-plus innings. It was his shortest start since July 9, 2013, when he allowed six runs and eight hits in three innings against the Red Sox. Shields went seven innings and still has not lost since May 2, a span of nine starts. "It was a great to see the crowd come out, obviously a sellout. We love it when the fans come out," Shields said of the rare packed house. "We didnt get a win for them tonight, but hopefully they keep coming out and well get some wins here." Josmil Pinto homered for the Twins, who reached double digits in runs for the third time this year. Mike Moustakas had two hits for Kansas City, which had won seven straight at Target Field. A 4-6 start to the season for Minnesota has been largely due to ineffective starting pitching. http://www.airmax2016dk.com/nike-air-max-sko/air-max-thea.html .com) - The Winnipeg Jets have thrived under Paul Maurice despite injury limiting Evander Kane to just four games under the new head coach.Despite the on-pitch action being over for another year for Canadas three MLS teams, there is still plenty to be resolved in the coming weeks as the Whitecaps, Impact and Toronto FC all have crucial decisions to make ahead of the 2014 season. On this weeks blog, I look at three big questions surrounding our MLS clubs. 1. Who is next in Vancouver? When the Whitecaps took the decision not to renew the contract of head coach Martin Rennie after two years with the club, it seemed as though Frank Yallop would be the man to take over the job. However, the former Canada head coach instead became the top man in Chicago with the Fire - a deal that was completed in the space of 24 hours, something that maybe caught Vancouver a little bit by surprise and ruled out a leading contender to replace Rennie. The Whitecaps have now started the interview process. Current assistant coach Carl Robinson should be a leading candidate. Another name in the running is Richie Williams. Marc Weber reported in the Vancouver Province this week that Williams was in Vancouver to meet with club officials about the position. The former New York Red Bulls player and assistant coach is currently head coach of the United States U17 team. Promoting Robinson would be a move that is welcomed by many of the Whitecaps players. Both Canadian Russell Teibert and MLS Golden Boot winner Camilo have given their support to the former Wales international who has plenty of experience in Major League Soccer since joining the league in 2007. He is well-respected around the league as a bright young coaching mind who will go on to be a successful head coach in Major League Soccer. The Whitecaps have a wealth of young talent within their squad and their Residency Program so the new coach must be someone who is capable of developing that talent. Both Robinson and Williams have experience in that area. There is also the possibility of the Whitecaps holding out to see who else becomes available in the coming weeks. Will Sigi Schmid stay in Seattle? Is out-of-contract Jason Kreis really a viable option? With decisions needing to be taken regarding players futures, the Whitecaps need to move swiftly to fill the void if they are to have the maximum time available to prepare properly for next season. 2. Will Marco be back in Montreal? Montreal Impact president Joey Saputo apologized to the MLS family during his post-season press conference earlier this week following his clubs meltdown in Houston a few days earlier. The 3-0 defeat against the Dynamo was hard to take, but the way in which the team lost their heads was a bitter pill to swallow. Finishing with eight men was bad enough, but losing top scorer Marco Di Vaio for the first three games of next season after supplemental discipline was a further kick in the teeth. Whether or not the loss of Di Vaio will be a problem for Marco Schallibaum to deal with remains to be seen. The Swiss coach is keen to come back for another year, but Saputo and Sporting Director Nick De Santis are still unsure whether they want to stick with Schallibaum in 2014. That would have been unthinkable even two months ago, with Montreal still tied for first place in the Eastern Conference as late as mid-September, but the way they plummeted down the standings has raised concerns. Nike Roshe Run Sort. Saputo is wise to take his time over the decision instead of making a rash move while the emotion of the playoff exit is still very raw. If Schallibaum isnt back, it would be the third coach in as many years for Montreal. The decision must come down to why Saputo and De Santis believe things went wrong in the closing weeks of the year. In late summer, they were happy with the coach and expected him to lead them into next year. Does the last two months of the season change that? Down the stretch, the Impact were unable to field a settled lineup due to a number of significant injuries. It seemed the squad also struggled to deal with the impact of the added Champions League games in the schedule. That is beyond Schallibaums control, but there were also questions surrounding some personnel decisions as well as some key games where they looked flat. Schallibaum is an intelligent coach and someone who has the respect of many of the players. If given the opportunity to return, I believe he will have learned some key lessons from his first season in MLS, and will come back a stronger, wiser leader next season. 3. Is Torontos DP search nearing an end? Toronto FC supporters have grown tired of broken promises in recent years, especially in the 2013 season when there was plenty of talk about Designated Player signings that wasnt backed up with actions. However, it seems under new MLSE president Tim Leiweke, the club is finally getting close to securing a couple of big name additions. Two of Torontos main targets right now are Italian forward Alberto Gilardino and England striker Jermaine Defoe. Gilardinos agent attended the final match of the season at BMO Field against Montreal a couple of weeks ago, and reports suggest a deal has been agreed upon with the strikers current club Genoa which would see the man who won the World Cup with Italy in 2006 added to the Reds squad at some stage next year. The club is also doing all it can to woo Defoe. The Tottenham Hotspur striker is a former teammate of Reds head coach Ryan Nelsen and when asked about the 31-year-old, Nelsen said he would be a phenomenal signing, speaking in glowing terms about his finishing ability and also his character on and off the pitch. While the additions of Gilardino and Defoe alone would not guarantee a turnaround, they would go a long way to finally giving the long-suffering fans a team capable of challenging for the playoffs. It would give the club two proven goal scorers who have the potential to be prolific in MLS – if they get the service. Thats where new GM Tim Bezbatchenko and Nelsen would have to work hard to ensure they can secure the pieces necessary to give those big name players the opportunity to thrive. While these deals are still not across the finish line, it does seem as if significant progress has been made, and Toronto are closing in on a couple of major signings that would finally provide the fans with something to smile about. Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. Andrea Ranocchia Inter Milan Maglia .ca. Kerry, In the Pittsburgh/New York Islanders game last night, a goal was reviewed in the third period. The referee made no indication of a goal, he just blew the play dead. We assumed that it was no goal because he had intent to blow the whistle, but he didnt signal no goal either. He made no call, just blew the play dead, after the puck crossed the line. There was a gathering of officials, and the war room initiated a review, and called it a goal. The explanation was odd. It said the puck crossed the line legally, but it wasnt a reviewable play. But they did review it, and make a call where the referee didnt. I am confused. Can you clarify this? John Szpala John, You werent the only one that appeared to be confused on the play. The rookie referee that you referred to is gaining experience and learning his trade primarily in the AHL this season. He is also earning his stripes in every NHL game that he is assigned to work. While the AHL is a tremendous training ground for players and officials alike, things happen much more quickly at the NHL level. The speed and skill demonstrated in the best league in the world requires an adjustment and a quick learning curve to take place. Beyond just being a question and answer forum, I am aware that this Cmon Ref column is utilized from time to time as a teaching tool for fans, officials and even players. I sincerely hope our young referee friend learns from his experience in last nights game and in the constructive advice that I am about to offer beyond just answering your question, John. This was clearly a "good goal" that was correctly determined through a lengthy conference with all four officials on the ice. The other three officials on the crew assisted the young referee and provided their perspective when they saw that he was uncertain what had taken place. The expected protocol was handled perfectly in this situation both on the ice and by the Situation Room personnel, who initiated a call following the officials decision to confirm that the puck crossed the line in a legal manner. (No distinct kick, glove, etc. occurred during the crease crash of players from both teams.) The official response from the Situation Room posting reads: At 10:55 of the third period in the Penguins/Islanders game, the Toronto Situation Room initiated a video review because the puck crossed the Penguins goal line. The officials on the ice discussed the play and determined that the puck had crossed the Penguins goal line in a legal fashion. This is not a reviewable play. Good Goal New York Islanders. Now the lesson for the young man in stripes! On a red line dump-in by Matt Donovan of the Islanders, the puck travelled past our young referee as he backed into the zone and came to a resting spot against the end boards to the left of Pens goalie Jeff Zatkoff. Brooks Orpik was the first Penguin on the puck and as he attempted to make a play, a quick forecheck and active stick by John Taveres forced the puck in front of the net. Kyle Okposo quickly threw the puck at the Penguins net, catching Zatkoff by surprise. The puck rested between the goalies pads and unfrozen as players quickly attacked the goal crease. Pittsburgh defenceman Paul Martin attempted to protect the puck and freeze it under Zatkoffs pads but instead, his stick caused the puck to accelerate and cross the goal line. The puck was clearly in the net before Thomas Vanek crashed the net and pushed Zatkoffs pads into the net. As quickly as these series of events took place, our young ref delayed his movement toward the goal and remained stationary at the sidewall. As the action in the crease intensified, he began drifting slowly toward the goal and was forced to avoid players that stood in his path. By the time the referee arrived in a position behind the net, the puck was visible to him inside of the goal frame but he was uncertain how it had arrived there. His hands in the air were not to waive off a goal but only to signal play stopped. His body language signaled uncertainty and a cry for help. Fortunately, the cavalry arrived in the form of two linesmen that charged to the net to offer their assistance. His referee partner needed to be just as quick on the scene to lend assistance instead of waiting at the refs crease to hold a conference. This is what you need to do the next time a play like this happens, kid. When players attack the net or a goal-mouth scramble results, you should "sprint" toward the net like a starving dog chasing a soup bone to find that puck! I found the best attack angle is just ahead of the goal line so you end up looking into the net and not through the back of players. Whenever you position yourself in the end zone, have your legs in a flexed (knees bent) and ready position to move quickly. Do not stand "stiff-legged" because your reaction time is greatly inhibited. Face the puck squarely, adjust and angle your skates in the direction of the puck as it continually moves about the end zone. In doing so, you are set up to either attack or retreat from the puck location! Finally, dont beat yourself up over this. You are the nameless rookie referee in this column that worked the New York Islander-Pittsburgh Penguins game last night on Long Island. I know how exciting it must be for you to step on the ice with Crosby, Tavares and all those great players. Enjoy each moment of it with every opportunity you are given. See the play quickly and remain in the moment, even if you have to engage in a Gord Miller—"Doc" Emrick style play-by-play in your head as I did on many occasions, to sustain the quick visual pace required at the NHL level. Embrace each experience as part of your learning curve and file it in your memory banks so that everything you do correctly becomes part of your "muscle memory." Above all, have fun doing one of the greatest jobs in the world! Work hard every game to find a better way. Best of luck and have a great career, kid! Juan Pablo Carrizo Inter Milan Maglia . The Durban-based Sharks withstood a furious second-half fightback to beat the Queensland Reds 35-20 for a fourth straight win which gave them a five-point lead atop the championship table. The Hamilton-based Chiefs scored two late tries to beat the Cape Town-based Stormers 36-20 for their third win, after the Stormers rallied from 24-6 down to 24-20 with six minutes remaining. Rodrigo Palacio Inter Milan Maglia . Floyd participated in the first day of the Chargers organized team activities Tuesday. In his words, "Its good to be back out there. Im cleaned for contact. http://www.intermilansoccerstore.it/juan-pablo-carrizo-maglia.html . David Perron helped his coachs cause by scoring three goals as the Oilers doubled the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 on Monday night. "It was a real good road game," said Eakins, enjoying a rare occasion to offer praise to his forwards, defence and goaltender alike.TORONTO - With a protective splint wrapped all the way around his injured left ring finger, Kyle Lowry practiced Sunday for the first time since sustaining the injury last week. "Its very sore, its very tender," Lowry said of the torn tendon in his finger, which will require him to wear the splint on his non-shooting hand for six weeks, still participating in practices and playing in games. "It is what it is. Ive got to just adjust to it." The Raptors guard left Wednesdays preseason game late in the fourth quarter after he felt his finger pop out while reaching for the ball. "Just not being able to completely use my finger," he said of the adjustment hell need to make as he prepares to open the regular season with the team on Oct. 30. "Its pretty much taped all the way to the top so Im limited to probably four fingers on that hand but I should be okay. Ill figure out how to shoot, score, pass and play defence with it." "Itll be a difficult adjustment but Im not going to complain about it, Im just going to fight through it and help the team as best as I can." Lowry, who is entering his second season in Toronto and the final year of his contract, acknowledged hell have to be more cautious reaching in with the injury but insists his style of play will remain the same. "I doubt its going to change my game because I dont know how to play any different," the starting point guard maintained. "So Im not really going to be concerned about it, Im just going to try to not worry about it and play through it." His coach echoed that sentiment. "I dont think hell be limited at all," Dwane Casey said. "Today he had no problems. He had the special [splint] on there and he was handling the ball, shooting the ball, playing with no problems whatsoever, so I dont think itll affect him." Chip on their Shoulders With the season approaching, Casey referenced an NBA preview article from The New York Times, one he and the team has taken issue with. "When the teams mascot tore an ACL in training camp, it was seen as a bad omen, which says a lot", the author wrote in the piece published on Saturday. "Thats total disrespect and hopefully our guys will use that as motivation," Casey protested. "Masai [Ujiri] saw that this morning and brought it in. It should give us motivation from that standpoint, but weve got to play the game." Although Casey wrestled with the exact wording of the slight at his team, its not the first time hes heard the American media underestimate or crack a joke at the expense of the Raptors franchise. A year ago, the Raptors coach and a number of his players took issue with the 33-win prediction made by former ESPN analyst John Hollinger. They went on to win 34 games. "I like that people are not respecting us," Casey said. "Weve got to have a chip on our shoulders, I have a chip on my shoulder, and if you dont you shouldnt be in uniform." Stone Makes Team, Still Not Satisfied Over the past couple weeks it became clear that guard Julyan Stone was the standoout in a three-player battle for the 15th and final spot on the teams regular season roster. Dodo Maglia. On Saturday it was made official. "My family told me, I didnt know," Stone said Sunday after finding out the news the day prior. "I was just going on day-by-day." "My mom hit me with the smiley face," he continued, "but for her when she texts smile, she like writes the whole word smile out instead of [using a] smiley face, so I kind of got it from [that]." Stone has endeared himself to Raptors fans and the local media with his personality and quirky stories but his versatility and commitment to defence have kept him around. "He does a good of job of running the show, good things happen when hes out on the floor," Casey said of the versatile 6-foot-6 guard. "Hes a tough kid and he gives us a different defender at that point guard position that can guard the quick guys and guard the big guards so he gives you another tool in your tool box to work with. Hes a hungry kid." The Raptors waived forward Chris Wright and guard Carlos Morais, allowing Stone to stay on. With Lowry playing through injury and back-up point guards D.J. Augustin and Dwight Buycks failing to stand out in camp, Stone has an opportunity to play his way into a the rotation, something hes strived for from the minute he arrived in Toronto. "Everybodys happy with just being in the league [but] my journeys been different," Stone said. "If youre a competitive person youre not just fighting for the 15th spot. I didnt come in here just to fight for the 15th spot. That was never really on my mind." "It was a fight for a position to play," he continued. "So making the cut for me was just something I had to do but I didnt think about it that way. I came in here to play, I came in here to make a name [for myself], I came in here to be in the rotation, thats always been my mindset and that will continue to be my mindset." Believed to be something of a long shot upon receiving a non-guaranteed contract and invite to training camp, Stone has impressed the coaching staff and continues to overcome a variety of injuries that have plagued him over the past couple years. Stone averaged 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds in 26 games regular season games with the Denver Nuggets over the last two years, also appearing in four playoff contests. The 24-year-old guard was expected to sign a guaranteed deal with the Raptors earlier in the summer before lingering knee and hip injuries put the agreement on ice. Ujiri, who previously acquired Stone in Denver, had maintained that the guard would be given another opportunity to earn a spot on the roster if and when he proved to be healthy. "Masai did a good job of just telling me, I know what youre capable of now go show me, if you dont show me what I saw before you will be out of here. Ive got to respect [him] for that." Stone took a knee to his surgically repaired right hip on Wednesday but returned to practice on Sunday and should be ready to go when the season kicks off next week. WASHINGTON -- Washington Capitals coach Adam Oates wants his team to focus less on power plays and more on even-strength situations. Nike Roshe Run Print Pas Cher . "Its tough to tell Ovi about that," Oates said. For one night, Oates will give Alex Ovechkin a reprieve. Ovechkin scored two goals, including one on a power play and assisted on Nicklas Backstroms game-tying power-player goal at 14:10 of the third. He also scored in a shootout, and the Washington Capitals rallied from an early three-goal deficit to beat the Calgary Flames 5-4 on Thursday night. Washington was 2 for 3 on the power play. Michal Neuvirth, who replaced an ineffective Braden Holtby, made 27 saves and stopped Sven Baertschi and Jiri Hudler in the shootout. "Youre looking for some sort of momentum change," Oates said of switching goalies after Calgary took a 3-0 lead in the first period. "The time it takes to do that, maybe a new guy, the guys start talking among themselves. Some coaches yell. I just kind of said things to guys. Youre just looking for them to re-group." Marcus Johansson assisted on all three second-period goals for Washington, which earned its first win after dropping the opener to the Blackhawks on Tuesday night. Connor Carrick and Nicklas Backstrom also scored for Washington. David Jones, Lee Stempniak, Hudler and Lance Bouma scored for Calgary. Karri Ramo made 35 saves. Calgary, which has missed the playoffs the past four seasons, has lost four straight season openers. "Very happy with the effort, obviously disappointed with the result," Flames coach Bob Hartley said. "I told the boys, Its one thing to play in the NHL, and there a different way to win in the NHL. "Were not going to start tonight on Game 1 saying, Oh, were young and this. Theres absolutely no excuse." The Capitals fought back in the second period, scoring three goals -- the second two by Ovechkin and first by Carrick, who got behind the Flames defence and had a clear path to the net. David Jones, acquired in an off-season trade with the Colorado Avalanche, gave Calgary a 1-0 lead at 5:18 of the first period. About three minutes later, Lance Boumas check left Washington defenceman Jack Hillen injured on the ice while Tom Wilson had a fight with Bouma. Wilson and Bouma both connected punches before Wilson flipped Bouma to the ice. Both received five-minute majors. Hillen, who suffered a lower-body injury and did not return, was helped up and off the ice by teammates. Ovechkin escorted Hillen, who leaned on a trainer, across the ice to the bench. Oates said Hillen was at the hospital "is going to be out for a bit." Stempniak made it 2-0 with the teams playing 4-on-4 midway through the period. Hudler added a power-play goal with a slap shot at 16:22 of the first. Oates said he believed his team was still reeling from its loss Tuesday, when Chicago earned a 6-4 win. "I think we were really flat coming out. I really do," Oates said. "I didnt expect it, but I really thought we were. And you know what? It was their first night. They were flying." Notes: Oates said Holtby would start when the Capitals play the Stars on Saturday. "Everybody has hiccups," Oates said. "Everybody." . The Capitals claimed defenceman Alexander Urbom off waivers from the New Jersey Devils and assigned centre Michael Latta to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Urbom, a native of Sweden, has two goals and nine penalty minutes in 14 career NHL games. He had 64 penalty minutes in 68 games with the AHLs Albany Devils last season. LONDON -- Chelsea rode its luck to hold Arsenal to a 0-0 draw in the Premier League on Saturday, keeping the race for Champions League qualification in the balance. The third-place hosts came closer to breaking the deadlock in a London derby of few chances at Emirates Stadium, with top scorer Robin van Persie and Laurent Koscielny both striking the goal frame in the first half. Just like against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday, Chelsea held firm to keep a clean sheet and stay seven points behind Arsenal with a game in hand. "Under the circumstances, we have to be pleased with a point away at the Emirates," said interim Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo, who made eight changes to the team that beat Barcelona 1-0 in their semifinal first leg with a view to the return fixture at the Camp Nou on Tuesday. The result leaves Arsenal within range of Tottenham and Newcastle, who are both six points behind Arsene Wengers team having played two matches fewer. To add to Wengers concerns, Theo Walcott hobbled off in the second half with a hamstring pull and is unlikely to play in the teams final three league matches. "I think we were nervous today because we could not afford to lose the game," Wenger said. Arsenal was desperate to avenge Mondays shock 2-1 home loss to lowly Wigan, a result that breathed unexpected life into the race for third and fourth, and created the games few clear-cut chances. Chelsea relied on the goal frame to twice get out of trouble -- just as the team did against Barca -- with Van Persie striking the base of the post from two yards out in the 14th minute and Koscielny heading against the bar when unmarked in the 42nd. "They decided to lock up the game and catch us on the break only," Wenger said. "We had the chances and they had zero." Foor Chelsea, a point at one of its biggest rivals isnt the worst result but with games running out -- Chelsea has four left -- its best chance of qualifying for the Champions League now likely hinges on winning this years competition. Nike Roshe Run Original Homme. . They could have done with the likes of Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Juan Mata, who started on the bench, and were again reliant on the obdurate centre-back partnership of Gary Cahill and John Terry -- four days after their resilient defensive display against Barcelona. Chelsea looked dangerous on the counter-attack and from set pieces but lacked the killer ball as well as numbers going forward, with lone striker Fernando Torres often isolated. "Two semifinals and an away match against Arsenal in the space of six days is a crazy schedule," Di Matteo said. "I think we are still in the running for fourth spot and we will fight until the end of the season." Arsenals hopes of pressing home its narrow advantage in the second half werent helped by the hamstring injury sustained by Walcott. The speedy winger pulled up with the problem in the 57th but decided to play on, something Wenger said may have exacerbated the injury. Three minutes later as he attempted surge down the right, he came to a stop again clutching his hamstring and was replaced by Gervinho. "Theo has a serious hamstring (injury)," Wenger said. "(Hell be out for) 21 days. It will be tough to come back before the end of the season." Van Persie missed a couple of chances late on when he shot wide from acute angles as the Netherlands striker failed to add to his league-leading 27 goals this season. "He played his 50th game of the season today," Wenger said. "And it wasnt easy for him -- he was completely on his own at some stages." OAKLAND, Calif. Adidas Superstar Rojas . -- Pinch-runner Rajai Daviss decision to steal third base just as Oakland catcher Derek Norris was throwing the ball back to the pitcher caught most everyone by surprise -- including several of his Detroit teammates. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus just hopes its the spark to pull his slumping team out of its two-week funk. Davis scored on Austin Jacksons fielders choice groundout in the eighth inning and the Tigers beat the Athletics 6-5 on Tuesday night to end a three-game losing streak. "Raj was just being Raj," Ausmus said. "He likes to wreak havoc on the bases, he saw the pitchers head drop and he took advantage." A day after getting shut out in this ALDS rematch from a year ago, the Tigers jumped out to an early lead, lost it, then rallied to win for just the second time in nine games. That helped overcome another rough outing by reigning AL Cy Young winner Max Scherzer, who gave up five runs and eight hits in six innings but was long gone by the time Davis scored the game-winning run. J.D. Martinez drew a one-out walk off Oakland reliever Fernando Abad (0-2). Davis was brought in to run and the speedy outfielder took second on a passed ball. He then stole third when As catcher Derek Norris was throwing the ball back to Abad. After Luke Gregerson replaced Abad, Jackson hit a sharp grounder to shortstop Jed Lowrie, but the As were unable to turn the double play and Davis raced home with the go-ahead run. "I think he caught the whole stadium sleeping," Tigers closer Joe Nathan said. "I know I missed it." As manager Bob Melvin credited Davis for his aggressive running. "That was the difference," Melvin said. "He timed it perfectly. As soon as (Norris) let go of the ball he took off. I havent seen the replay yet if he had a chance to get it and throw him out, but thats a big chance he took and it paid off." Miguel Cabrera and Torii Hunter homered for the Al Central-leading Tigers. Al Albuquerque (2-1) pitched one inning for the win and Nathan worked the ninth for his 12th save in 15 tries. John Jaso homered for the As. The game began as a marquee matchup between Scherzer and Sonny Gray, but both starters were gone after the sixth. Scherzer, who beat the As in Game 1 of the ALDS last season, struck out four, walked two and balked home a run. Grey, who led the AL in ERA entering the night, wasnt much better. He pitched with runners on base in nearly every inning, allowed four runs for the first time this season and struck out five before leaving with a one-run lead after the sixth. The As bullpen couldnt make it stand. Reliever Dan Otero gave up Hunters tying home run with two outs in the seventh before the Tigers scored off Abad in the eighth. It was a much-needed boost for the slumping Tigers, who had dropped seven of eight before coming from behind to beat the As. "We certainly needed it for sure," Ausmus said. "The mood has been good all along ... (but) you could tell in the dugout that the players really wanted this one." Detroit, which was shut out in the series opener, got to Gray when Hunter doubled with one out in the first and scored on Cabreras single up the middle. After Gray walked Victor Martinez on four pitches, J.D. Martinez lined an RBI double to right-centre to make it 2-0. Oakland tied it in the second on RBI doubles by Lowrie and Alberto Callaspo before Cabrera hit his tiebreaking home run in the third and Alex Avila doubled in Jackson in the fourth to make it 4-2. Coming off his worst start of the season, Scherzer couldnt make it hold up. He balked home a run in the fourth after giving up singles to Josh Reddick and Callaspo. Jaso followed with his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot that gave Oakland a 5-4 lead. The two-time Gold Glove winning outfielder was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks for a pair of minor leaguers Thursday ahead of the non-waiver trade deadline. The NL Central-leading Brewers sent outfielder Mitch Haniger and left-hander Anthony Banda to Arizona. Parra was hitting .259, about 25 points lower than his career average, with six homers and 30 RBIs. The Brewers could use him in a platoon with righty bat Khris Davis, who is hitting just .232 against right-handers. Parra is hitting .271 against righties, and .429 overall since July 23. The Brewers were off Thursday, spending much of the day in St. Petersburg, Florida, after losing two of three to the Tampa Bay Rays. Milwaukee begins a three-game series Friday against division rival St. Louis, which added right-handed starters Justin Masterson and John Lackey at the trade deadline. Parra was expected to join the team Friday in St. Adidas Superstar Grises. Louis. centre fielder Carlos Gomez, Jonathan Lucroy, Ryan Braun and Aramis Ramirez -- all right-handed hitters -- lead the Brewers lineup. Lyle Overbay, who is hitting .232 with four homers, is the only other left-handed hitter who plays with any regularity. The addition of Parra gives Milwaukee another top glove in the outfield to join Gomez. Outfielder Logan Schafer will be optioned to Triple-A Nashville to make room for Parra, the team said. The 23-year-old Haniger was playing for Double-A Huntsville. He was Milwaukees No. 3 prospect, according to Baseball America. He was hitting .255 with 10 homers and 34 RBIs. CLEVELAND -- Five down, two to go. Adidas ZX 750 Uomo|Donna . The Cleveland Indians wasted no time in avoiding salary arbitration with key players Tuesday, agreeing to terms on one-year contracts for 2012 with right fielder Shin-Soo Choo, All-Star closer Chris Perez, starter Justin Masterson, reliever Joe Smith and third baseman Jack Hannahan. Only All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and left-handed reliever Rafael Perez remain unsigned. The Indians havent gone to an arbitration hearing with a player since 1991, and by all indications, it appears as if theyre intent on keeping that streak alive. Cabrera and Rafael Perez have exchanged salary proposals with the club. If they do not reach a deal, the players will have their cases heard between Feb. 1-21 in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Indians last went to a hearing 21 years ago with pitcher Greg Swindell and infielder Jerry Browne. The 26-year-old Cabrera set career highs in almost every offensive category last season. He batted .273 with 25 homers and 92 RBIs, the most by an AL shortstop, and played Gold Glove-caliber defence for 151 games. Its possible the Indians will offer him a multiyear deal. "Were willing to do them," general manager Chris Antonetti said last week. "In the end, both parties have to be interested in doing it, and you have to align on the value." Cabrera asked for $5.2 million this season, while the Indians offered $3.75 million. He made $2,125,000 last season. Choo earned a respectable raise despite his troubled 2011 season, getting a $4.9 million deal after making $3,975,000 last season. The 29-year-old South Korean batted .259 with eight homers and 36 RBIs in 85 games. But Choo had two lengthy stints on the disabled list and was arrested for drunken driving, an incident that affected his play. One year earlier, Choo was the only AL player to hit .300 with at least 20 homers and 20 stolen bases. After a rough start, Choo settled in and began to find his groove when he was hit on the left thumb by a pitch from San Franciscos Jonathan Sanchez on June 24. He underwent surgery and missed six weeks. Choo batted .348 in 12 games in August before straining a side muscle and going on the DL for the second time. He aggravated the injury on Sept. 15 and missed the remainder of the season. Chris Perez will make $4.5 million in 2012. He earned $2.35 million last season, when he developed into one of the ALs top closers. The 26-year-old had 36 saves in 40 tries, ending the year by converting his final nine chances. Masterson had a breakout season in 2011, going 12-10 with a 3.21 ERA as the Indians most consistent starter. Hell make $3,825,000 in 2012 after getting $468,400 last season. The big right-hander led the Indians with 158 strikeouts, 33 starts and 216 innings. The hard-throwing 26-year-old, who was acquired in 2009 from Boston, was just 6-13 in 2010. However, he opened 5-0 last season and became the staff ace before the Indians traded for Ubaldo Jimenez in July. Smith was terrific in a setup role last season, going 3-3 with a 2.01 ERA in 71 games. The sidearming right-hander began 2011 on the disabled list, but once he got healthy, the 27-year-old made opposing hitters look sickly. Of his 71 appearances, 60 were scoreless and he did not allow an earned run in 27 straight outings. Smiths new deal is worth $1.75 million. He made $900,000 in 2011. Hannahan was a pleasant surprise last season for the Indians, who signed him to a minor league deal before training camp not expecting much. But after Jason Donald broke his hand, Hannahan took over the starting job at third and finished batting .250 with eight homers and 40 RBIs in 110 games. He made his biggest contribution defensively, leading all AL third basemen with a .983 fielding percentage. Hannahan, who will make $1,135,000 after earning $500,000 last season, will compete for the starting job this spring with Lonnie Chisenhall. Adidas Originals Superstar 2 unisex . ORCHARD PARK, N. nike roshe one Mujer baratas .Y. -- The Buffalo Bills approach to the NFL draft this year has much to do with EJ Manuel. After selecting the quarterback in the first round last year, the next step is adding talent to give Manuel the opportunity to progress after an inconsistent and injury-shortened rookie season. "Its a quarterback-driven league, so were going to give every avenue and every piece of the puzzle to surround EJ and make him as successful as possible," general manager Doug Whaley said. "What we did this off-season affords us the opportunity to go any way and every way in the draft. But our main focus is making sure EJ progresses." Manuels progression is a point of emphasis for a team that hasnt had stability at quarterback since Hall of Famer Jim Kelly retired following the 1996 season. And questions remain whether Manuel is capable of providing that stability. He went 4-6 and oversaw a sputtering offence that contributed to Buffalo (6-10) extending the NFLs longest active playoff drought to 14 seasons. The Bills can do little but cross their fingers in hoping Manuel can stay healthy after being sidelined by knee injuries on three separate occasions. What they can control is adding pieces to the offence. Buffalo began by creating two new offensive positions on coach Doug Marrones staff, including quarterbacks coach Todd Downing. Whaley also acquired Mike Williams, a proven receiver with a troubled off-field past, in a trade with Tampa Bay. The next step is the draft, which is top-heavy on receivers and offensive tackles. Here are five things to look out for from Buffalo, which opens with the ninth pick: DOUBLING DOWN ON WR: Despite acquiring Williams and drafting receivers Robert Woods and Marquise Goodwin last year, the Bills might not be done restocking the position. Buffalos passing attack lacked a dependable threat, finishing 29th in the NFL in yards gained. At 6-foot-5, Texas A&Ms Mike Evans has the size and range Buffalo lacks. And Clemsons Sammy Watkins has the overall talent that might be too good to pass up despite his 6-1 frame. "We believe so," Whaley said of Watkins, for whom Buffalo probably has to move up. "We think his traits are dynamic enough to overcome his lack of height." Tight end is another option, with North Carolinas Eric Ebron in the mix. O-LINE NEEDS: With left tackle Cordy Glenn protecting Manuels blind side, the Bills are interested in upgrading the other side of their line. Whaley expects more teams to adopt what he calls "NASCAR packages," featuring swift-footed pass rushers across the defensive front. "You need a right tackle nowadays as athletic as your left tackle," he said. The draft features several highly regarded tackles, including Auburns Greg Robinson, Michigans Taylor Lewan and Texas A&Ms Jake Matthews. The Bills also have a pressing need at left guard that is expected to be addressed in later rounds. REPLACING BYRD: The Bills believe they have enough depth to overcome losing three-time Pro Bowl safety Jairus Byrd in free agency. Aaron Williams was solid in making the switch last season from cornerback. Returning players DaNorris Searcy, Jonathan Meeks and Duke Williams will compete for regular jobs. And then theres the free agent addition of Corey Graham, who can play cornerback and safety. WHALEYS DEBUT: After spending his first three years in Buffalo being groomed for the GMs job, Whaley gets to run his first draft after Buddy Nix stepped down a year ago. At 41, Whaley has extensive background as a scout after working his way up through the Steelers organization. And hes eager to begin being judged on how he does rebuilding the Bills. "Call me crazy, I like it," Whaley said. "Im a competitor and I want to win. If thats my role and thats my job, I embrace my destiny." REMEMBERING RALPH: This is the Bills first draft since owner and founder Ralph Wilson died in March. Wilson enjoyed being involved in the draft. Wilson proudly recalled the time he broke a deadlock among executives by urging them to select running back Thurman Thomas in the second round of the 1988 draft. Thomas went on to a Hall of Fame career. "This was his favourite time of year," Bills president Russ Brandon said. "People ask me all the time how we can honour Mr. Wilsons legacy. And my answer is always the same. Its one word: Win." nike roshe one . Its an interesting list that create more than few debates and observations and a couple leap out right away. Adidas ZX Flux Sale . For example, Mexicos top soccer league, Liga MX, ranks highly and is comparable to the Canadiens, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco Giants and Chicago Bulls. The main argument against using this list to determine popularity would be that a large number of fans do not depend on Google to follow their favourite teams. If you consider that many hockey fans get their information about their teams from sites like TSN.ca or NHL.com, as well as apps that give them real time scores and information, there wouldnt be much reason for them to use Google to search for what they are looking for. From then on, it was another professional job for the three-time All-Star. Haren pitched into the seventh inning and hit a tiebreaking three-run double, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night. "I was scuffling out of the gate, and its been the same way for a long time now," Haren said. "I havent been coming out that crisp out of the bullpen, but I felt really good today and my stuff was there." Dee Gordon hit a rare home run for the Dodgers, who are 10-3 against the Diamondbacks and 27-30 against everyone else. With six games left between the NL West rivals, this is the earliest the Dodgers have ever clinched a season series with Arizona. They began the year by sweeping a two-game set in Sydney, Australia. "We thought wed be doing a lot better against everybody, not just these guys," Arizona catcher Miguel Montero said. "Unfortunately, were not doing good against anybody. So weve just got to pick it up and be a better team the rest of the way." Haren (7-4) allowed three runs and eight hits, including a one-out single in the seventh by pinch-hitter Jordan Pacheco that chased the former Diamondbacks right-hander. Haren, coming off a 6-2 victory last Monday at Cincinnati, has won back-to-back starts first the first time since beating Arizona by identical 8-6 scores in a span of seven days in April. Kenley Jansen got three outs for his 19th save despite giving up a leadoff homer in the ninth by Martin Prado -- his third hit of the game and 1,000th of his career. Arizona right-hander Josh Collmenter (4-4) gave up six runs and eight hits through six innings. He is winless in three starts since his three-hit shutout against the Reds on May 29. Prado gave the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead with an RBI single in the fourth, but the Dodgers responded with four runs in the bottom half. Matt Kemp singled in a run and Haren drove a 1-0 pitch to right-centre field, clearing the bases as teammate Clayton Kershaw jumped for joy in the dugout. "Collmenter did good, except that one inning. But he went out and gave us six innings and just battled and competed," Montero said. "I know that Haren can hit. He can swing the bat. Hes not like normal ppitchers. Nike Air Max Dames Goedkoop. I dont know if it was a bad pitch or not." Haren, a 12-year veteran with 71 hits and a .209 career batting average, had one RBI in 26 at-bats over his 13 previous starts this season. "I got into a good count and was looking to go the other way, and I got a pitch that I could handle," Haren said. "I used to be a really good hitter, and Im not as good now as I once was. But I put a good swing on that one and the bullpen made it hold up." The damage could have been worse for Collmenter had Goldschmidt not robbed Andre Ethier of at least a double three batters earlier with a diving stop toward the first-base line and toss to Collmenter for the out. Goldschmidts 14th homer came after a leadoff double by Didi Gregorius. Haren has allowed at least one homer in seven consecutive starts. His longest such streak was 10 starts in 2012 with the Angels. "I just got burned with a cutter on Gregorius, and I hung the cutter again to Goldschmidt and made a really bad pitch," Haren said. "But after that, I settled in and got some ground balls." The Dodgers tied it in the fourth on a two-run shot by Gordon, who turned on an 0-1 pitch and drove it into the first row of seats in the right-field corner. It was the second homer this season for the second baseman, and just his fourth in 874 big league at-bats to that point. NOTES: Arizona LHP Joe Thatcher pitched a scoreless eighth, extending his streak against the Dodgers without allowing an earned run to 36 innings and 21 2-3 innings. The only reliever in history with a longer streak against one team without giving up an earned run was Troy Percival, who had 39 in a row against Minnesota spanning 40 innings. ... The Dodgers placed utilityman Chone Figgins on the 15-day disabled list because of a left quad strain and recalled INF Carlos Triunfel from Triple-A Albuquerque. ... The Dodgers were well-represented at Saturdays memorial service for Bob Welch in Scottsdale, Arizona. Among the mourners were Tommy Lasorda, former teammates Steve Yeager, Dusty Baker, Dave Stewart, Rick Honeycutt and Ken Howell, along with longtime visiting clubhouse manager Jerry Turner. Also on hand was ex-Oakland As teammate and current Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire. Welch, who died Tuesday at age 57, was the Diamondbacks pitching coach when they won the World Series in 2001. CHARLOTTE, N. Greg Maddux Jersey .C. -- Cam Newton will undergo surgery Wednesday on his left ankle and will be sidelined for four months, the Carolina Panthers announced. The team said Tuesday the Pro Bowl quarterback has experienced soreness in the ankle since the end of last season and the problem simply wasnt getting better. "The ankle was sore after the San Francisco game and we wanted to see if rest would calm it down, but it is still bothering him and the decision was made to address it," Panthers trainer Ryan Anderson said in a press release. The Panthers lost to the 49ers on Jan. 12 in the NFC divisional playoffs. The surgery will be performed by Panthers team physician Robert Anderson at Carolinas Medical Center. If all goes as expected, Newton could return before training begins at the end of July. Newton led the Panthers to a 12-4 record last season and the NFC South championship. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl. The news is particularly concerning for the Panthers since Newton is expected to be working with almost an entirely new group of wide receivers this season. The Panthers released Steve Smith, the franchises all-time leader in receptions in a salary cap related move last week. Brandon LaFell, the teams other starter last season, signed with New England in free agency while top reserves Ted Ginn Jr. and Domenik Hixon signed free agent deals with Arizona and Chicago respectively. Given that Newton wont be back until just before the start of training camp means he wont have much time to develop chemistry with the new receivers the team brings in to play this season. The Panthers havent signed any free agent receivers this off-season, although they did recently visit with Jerricho Cotchery from the New York Jets. Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman and coach Ron Rivera were unavailable for comment. Newtons father, Cecil Newton, reached by telephone, said he hasnt spoken to his son about the ankle and didnt feel comfortable discussing the injury in the media. He said Cam Newton has been taking classes at Auburn where he is working on his college degree. Newton has started all 48 regular season games since arriving as the No. 1 overall pick out of Auburn in 2011. This past season Newton threw for 3,379 yards with a career-high 24 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. He also led the Panthers on five come-from-behind victories in the fourth quarter. In three seasons Newton has thrown for 11,299 yards passing with 64 touchdowns and 42 interceptions. Hes also run for 2,032 yards and 28 touchdowns. Grant was fired a day after the Cavs dropped their sixth straight game, an embarrassing home loss to a Los Angeles Lakers team that started with eight players and finished with five. Vice president of basketball operations David Griffin will serve as acting general manager. Owner Dan Gilbert made it clear hes unhappy with what has transpired in a season that began with hopes the Cavs would make the playoffs after a three-year absence. "This has been a very difficult period for the franchise," Gilbert said in a statement. "We have severely underperformed against expectations. Just as this is completely unacceptable to our loyal and passionate fan base, season ticket holders and corporate partners, it is also just as unacceptable to our ownership group." Gilbert also met with reporters at the teams training facility following the announcement. He expressed confidence that the Cavs can show improvement under coach Mike Brown over the final 33 games. Grant was instrumental in the rehiring of Brown, who was fired during his first stint with the team in 2010. Gilbert was asked if Browns job was safe for the rest of this season. "Were going to see Mike Brown succeed this year because I think that hell be able to do good things and I think this team will be able to do good things," Gilbert said. "I think theyre going to look at each other and theyre going to look in the mirror and theyre going to rally." Gilbert also was asked why he decided to change his general manager but not his coach. "Coach Brown has only been here over half a season," he said. "Chris Grant has been here 8 1/2 years. Hes been the general manager almost four years. Theres a lot of talent on this team. I think everybody knows that." Gilbert promised last spring the Cavs would not return to the NBA lottery, but Cleveland is 16-33 and has dropped six in a row -- matching its longest losing streak of the season. The Cavs are 5 1/2 games out of the final playoff spot in the weak Eastern Conference and their only win in the last nine gammes came over Milwaukee, which has the leagues worst record. Mookie Wilson Mets Jersey. "Accountability starts with me," Gilbert said. "I take responsibility for where were at." Grants tenure will be known for not being able to rebuild the Cavs fast enough despite having a slew of first-round draft picks, including two No. 1 overall selections. Grant addressed the teams poor play last week, saying everyone in the organization was accountable, including himself. Grant took Anthony Bennett with the first pick last June and then signed free-agent centre Andrew Bynum during the summer when no other team would offer the 7-footer a contract. Grant was able to unload Bynum in a trade with Chicago for Luol Deng, but the forwards arrival has done little to invigorate the Cavs. Cleveland has been under .500 since the fifth game of the season and the players have been slow to pick up Browns system on both ends of the floor. In a season thats already had too many low moments, the Cavs hit rock bottom Wednesday. Not only did they fall behind by 29 points to Los Angeles, the Lakers played the final few minutes with five healthy players, including one who was allowed to remain in the game after committing his sixth foul because coach Mike DAntoni was out of bodies. The Cavs were booed throughout the game and Brown, who has been unable to come up with any answers to stop his teams skid, benched All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving and three other starters in the fourth quarter as Cleveland got back in the game before losing 119-108. The acquisition of Deng last month brought hope the season could be salvaged, but that proved to be temporary. The Cavs went 3-2 on a West Coast trip, but followed that with a 1-4 record on its longest homestand of the season. Cleveland then lost three consecutive road games, including a 31-point rout by the Knicks on national television. Grant joined the organization in 2005 as vice-president of basketball operations/assistant general manager. He was hired as general manager on June 4, 2010. Griffin was hired later that year after spending 17 seasons with the Phoenix Suns, the last three as the clubs senior vice-president of basketball operations. SUNRISE, Fla. nike air max 90 essential herren . -- Max Pacioretty kept the Montreal Canadiens on a roll. Pacioretty had two goals and an assist to help the Canadiens extend their winning streak to five games with a 4-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Saturday night. Thomas Vanek added a goal and an assist for Montreal and Carey Price made 36 saves. David Desharnais had an empty-net goal. This was the first time Pacioretty has scored goals against the Panthers. Coming into the game, Pacioretty had never scored on 50 shots in 16 career games against the Panthers, although he did have eight assists. "Its a good feeling. I havent been able to score against this team so its nice to come into this building a put a few on the board," Pacioretty said. Both of Paciorettys goals were similar; standing near the crease and waiting for a pass to redirect into the net. "I got set up perfectly for both goals," he said. Paciorettys second goal put the Canadiens ahead 3-0 in the second period. Pacioretty camped at edge of the crease and tipped in a pass from Desharnais at 14:00 for his 35th of the season, a career high. Pacioretty has 11 points in his past 10 games. "Nothing really special (about the number of goals) Im trying to get better every year, and every year my game has gotten better," Pacioretty said. The Canadiens are playing their best hockey at an opportune time, winning eight of their past nine. "Obviously, were trying to make a push toward the playoffs. Its all about timing and being able to play well at the right time," Price said. The Canadiens seem to be hitting a groove, with good efforts from top players such as Pacioretty and Vanek and solid goaltending from Price. "They played really well again tonight," Canadiens coach Michel Therrien said. "The chemistry is there; they are having a lot of fun playing together and it worked out again tonight." Brad Boyes scored for Florida and Dan Ellis stopped 15 shots for the Panthers, who have lost five of their past six games. The Panthers closed to 3-1 on Boyes goal. Boyes took a pass from Sean Bergenheim and wristed it past Price at 16:09 of the second. Boyes leads the Panthers with 19 goals, but that was his first in eight games. "No finish. We generated a lot of shots, a lot of chances ... again, a lack of scoring obviously hurt us," Boyes said. The Canadiens two leading scorers each had goals in the first. Montreal went ahead 2-0 on the first goal by Pacioretty. Daniel Briere passed from the left side across to Pacioretty at the right side of the crease, who tipped it in with 2:57 left in the first. The Canadiens took a 1-0 lead on Vaneks goal. Vanek took a shot from the slot that Ellis blocked but the puck drifted under Ellis pads toward the net. Ellis couldnt find the puck but Vanek did and he skated in and poked it in at 10:47 of the first, his 27th of the season. Vanek has six goals and 10 points over his past seven games. Desharnais empty-net goal came with 23.4 seconds left. "Price was the biggest difference," Panthers coach Peter Horachek said. "Theyre a very mature team that capitalizes on their chances." MELBOURNE, Australia -- Norways Suzann Pettersen birdied her last three holes in a 6-under 66 on Thursday to lead the womens Australian Open by a shot after the first round at the Victoria Golf Club. Pettersen, winner of last years Evian Championships, had nine birdies and three bogeys, holding off a series of challengers led by Marion Ricordeau of France. The second-ranked Norwegian made her season debut after missing the LPGA Tours opening event last month in the Bahamas because of a shoulder injury. Shes in position to take the No. 1 spot in the world from Inbee Park with a victory or a solo second-place finish. "In the first round of the year youre always anxious to get started," Pettersen said. "It took me a while to get really comfortable, to trust what Ive been working on. "In the end the trust was stronger than the rest. I hit a lot of great shots but I also have to say I left a lot of shots out there. I three-putted a lot of greens, stupid three-putts really, but I also felt like I played good and gave myself a lot of birdie channces. Nike Free 3.0 Herren. quot; Ricordeau, who had eight birdies, a bogey and a double bogey, briefly drew level with Pettersen before finishing among a group of four players with rounds of 67. Tied in second place were Park Hee-young of South Korea and Americans Jaclyn Sweeney and Jessica Korda, daughter of former tennis star Petr Korda and already a tournament winner this year. World No. 4 Lydia Ko of New Zealand was among a larger group at 4-under after a mixed opening round. The 16-year-old was one-under after her opening nine but came home with five birdies and two bogeys, including birdies at her last two holes. Australias Karrie Webb, a record four-time winner of the event, opened with a 71. The Hall of Famer had another brush with rules officials after being disqualified last week at Royal Pines for signing an incorrect scorecard after the second round. NEW YORK -- Nearly halfway through their homestand, more than halfway through their season, and the only move the New York Knicks are making is backward. Juan Pablo Carrizo Inter Milan Maglia . Evan Turner scored a career-high 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, Thaddeus Young made a key 3-pointer on a play the Knicks admittedly botched, and the Philadelphia 76ers send New York to a fifth straight loss with a 110-106 victory on Wednesday night. Blowing a favourable portion of their schedule, the Knicks fell to 15-27, a season after losing 28 games total in winning the Atlantic Division. "This is the time right here to make up ground and were not," guard J.R. Smith said. "Were playing better on the road than we are at home and it should be the other way around if anything." Michael Carter-Williams and Young each added 19 points for the 76ers, who won for just the second time in nine games. James Anderson finished with 18 points as Philadelphia outrebounded New York 54-39 to snap a three-game skid. "Our team was good tonight. We played good team defence and we ended it with rebounds," 76ers coach Brett Brown said. "So Im happy that we came in here and found a way to get a win and it was through our defence." Carmelo Anthony scored 28 points after a slow start for the Knicks, who were at least competitive after losing the previous four by a combined 75 points. They are 0-3 on an eight-game homestand that matches a franchise record. But its not helping the Knicks at all, as they started their second half with another loss after going 15-26 through the midpoint of their schedule. With that in mind, Brown said he expected to see an "angry team" that wanted to fix things. Instead, the Knicks started slowly and finished poorly. "I really dont know what it is, why we cant play well on our own home court," Anthony said. "This should be the time where we gain some momentum, gain some confidence as a team playing here on our own home court, but that dont seem like its the case right now." After trailing most of the game, the Knicks ran off 10 straight points to open the fourth quarter and take a 90-84 lead on Tim Hardaway Jr.s three-point play. Philadelphia then held New York without a basket for more than 5 minutes and moved back into the lead at 96-92 on consecutive 3-poiners by Carter-Williams and Turner. "Really big for us to come back," Carter-Williams said. "We stayed together, stayed as a team, shared the ball at the end and we executed down the stretch." Smith ended the Knicks drought with a 3-pointer, but baskets by Young and Anderson pushed it to 100-95. New York had one last chance when it got within two, but Young made a wide-open 3-pointer and Turner followed with a basket for a 107-100 cushion that sent fans for the exits. The Knicks said they knew what the Sixers would do on the possession that ended with Youngs open look from the top of the key, but coach Mike Woodson said they "botched it up." Andrea Bargnani scored 20 points for the Knicks in his return to the starting lineup after coming off the bench Monday in a loss to Brooklyn. Woodson wanted to return to the bigger lineup similar to the one that beat the 76ers in the last meeting. But the Knicks also had Amare Stoudemire and Kenyon Martin for that game, and both are out now with sprained left ankles. The loss to the Nets was a tumultuous holiday for the Knicks, as their blowout loss was followed by quotes from Anthony that seemed critical of his teammates effort and Chandler that appeared to question coach Woodsons defensive strategy. They probably didnt feel much better after this one, losing to a team they had defeated eight of the previous 10 times. "Weve got to believe that we can win a game," Woodson said. Anthony missed all four shots and had just one point in the first quarter while the 76ers hit 56 per cent for a 33-26 lead. He came back with 13 in the second, helping the Knicks pull to 61-56 at halftime. NOTES: Sixers F Brandon Davies had surgery for a broken right small finger. NEW YORK -- The disappointing Brooklyn Nets shook up their coaching staff Tuesday, reassigning top assistant Lawrence Frank to a non-bench role. Head coach Jason Kidd said Frank will not be at practices or games, and that he will be writing daily reports. He said the two had "different philosophies." "This is a decision that I had to make and I made it and we move on," Kidd said. Kidd played for Frank with the Nets and hired him when he became a first-time coach in June. Frank had spent the two previous seasons as coach of the Detroit Pistons, and earned a league-high 21.4 per cent of the vote as best assistant by executives who voted in the preseason NBA.com GM survey. Frank is the Nets career leader in NBA wins with 225. He was expected to work mostly with the defence, but the Nets are near the bottom of tthe league in that category, allowing 102. Kidd said the rest of his staff would remain as is and there would be no new coaching hires. The Nets brought a 5-12 record into their game Tuesday against Denver, which is coached by Brian Shaw -- the other finalist for the Nets job that went to Kidd. Shaw, a longtime successful assistant before finally getting his first head coaching opportunity this season, interviewed just after Kidd and said he thought he had a "pretty good chance" to be the Nets choice. John Tortorella will try to lead the struggling Vancouver Canucks to a win as the fiery head coach returns to the bench for Mondays road test against the Detroit Red Wings. Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Prix . Tortorella has completed a 15-day suspension for his antics during a 3-2 shootout win against the Calgary Flames on Jan. 18 and returns to a club that has lost 12 times in its last 16 trips to the ice. The Canucks also tweeted that Henrik Sedin, who has missed the past six games with bruised ribs, will also return to the lineup. Angered by Calgary head coach Bob Hartleys decision to start that game with his fourth line, a move that helped instigate a game-opening line brawl, Tortorella tried to get at Hartley in the Calgary locker room between the first and second periods but he was restrained from doing so by Flames players and members of the Vancouver staff. While Tortorella wasnt allowed to have any contact with his team during the 15-day ban, Hartley was fined $25,000 for his role in the brawl. The Canucks, who are 4-9-3 over their last 16 games, went 2-4-0 while Tortorella was serving his suspension and the club has lost its last three tilts in regulation. Assistant coach Mike Sullivan handled the bench duties during Tortorellas absence and he relinquishes the reins with Vancouver still hanging onto the eighth and final playoff seed in the West. The Canucks are just one point ahead of Phoenix for that distinction. Like Tortorella, Canucks captain Henrik Sedin has missed the last six games, although his layoff has been due to a rib injury and not a suspension. Sedin, who had played in 679 straight games before bruised ribs led to the end of the iron man streak, participated in a full practice on Sunday but he expects to sit out another tilt today. Meanwhile, Daniel Sedin, Henriks twin brother and linemate, has gone 15 straight games without a goal. The winger has five assists during the goal- scoring drought. The Canucks were handed a 4-3 loss Friday in Winnipeg, as Devin Setoguchi scored the game-winner for the Jets with 2:56 to play in the third period. Ryan Kesler had a goal and two assists for the Canucks, while Eddie Lack allowed all four goals on 34 shots. "Well, it was frustrating because we fought our way back into the game," said Sullivan. "I give our guys credit for fighting back, but weve got to find a way to win that game." Vancouver ended January with a 4-9-2 record and the club lost six of seven on the road during the month. The Canucks, who will make the second stop on five- game swing tonight, are 13-11-4 as the road team this season. The Red Wings have lost three of their last four games (1-1-2) and recently split a home-and-home series with Washington. Detroit won the home portion of the two-game series Friday night at Joe Louis Arena, claiming a 4-3 shootout victory, but the Wings fell 6-5 in overtime in Sundays wild battle at Verizon Center. Alex Ovechkin scored a power-play goal 2:37 into overtime to lift the Capitals to Sundays win. Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith was called for tripping at the 1:26 mark of the extra session. The Capitals moved the puck around and John Carlson fed Ovechkin for a one-timer from the left circle. Detroits Gustav Nyquist posted his first career hat trick and picked up an assist on Justin Abdelkaders goal that tied the game at 5-5 with 13:35 remaining in the third period. Henrik Zetterberg recorded three assists for the Red Wings, while Jimmy Howard surrendered all six goals on 28 shots in the loss. "Offensively we played really well," Zetterberg said. "Some mistakes cost us a few goals, and obviously theyre good when they get the power play." The Red Wings had been shut out in their previous three road games, so Sundays scoring outburst was a welcome sight. However, the club is tied with Philadelphia for the eighth and final playoff seed in the East and wouldve liked to have earned the extra point. The Red Wings and Flyers, who visit San Jose tonight, are only a point ahead of Carolina and Washington and two points in front of Ottawa and New Jersey. "We showed some good resilience tonight," Howard said. "We found a way to come back, scraping and clawing and getting a point. At the same time, we couldve easily been walking out of here with two points. Ive got to find a way to come up with a couple more saves for the guys." The Red Wings have won three of their last four on home ice but they are still only 10-11-8 at the Joe this season. Detroit recorded a 2-1 regulation win in Vancouver on Oct. 30 and it has won three of the past four meetings in this series. Atlantas All-Stars came through again on Friday. Paul Millsap, Al Horford and Jeff Teague had plenty of help as the Hawks pushed their franchise-record winning streak to 18 games. Millsap scored 21 points, Horford had 17 and Teague scored six of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Hawks held off LaMarcus Aldridge and the Portland Trail Blazers for a 105-99 victory on Friday night. Kyle Korver added 16 points and Kent Bazemore had 12 points in 40 minutes off the bench as the Hawks won without injured forward DeMarre Carroll, who sat with a left Achilles strain. Thabo Sefolosha replaced him in the starting lineup but played just 2:21 before going out with a calf strain. Millsap, Horford and Teague were all named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team on Thursday, the first time since 1980 that three Hawks made the game. Atlantas Mike Budenholzer will coach the East in the Feb. 15 game at Madison Square Garden in New York. The NBA-leading Hawks havent lost since Dec. 26 in Milwaukee. And at 39-8, they surpassed last seasons win total (38-44). They could secure a perfect 17-0 month with a win Saturday against Philadelphia, which will end a seven- game homestand. Neither the Hawks, nor the Blazers led by more than six in the game. The Hawks took the lead for good on Horfords jumper midway through the fourth quarter. Later, Horforrds rebound and Teagues long pass over the defense led to a dunk for Millsap at the other end to make it a six-point game with 1:30 remaining. Adidas Superstar Grise. Luc Mbah a Moute paced the Sixers with 18 points, while Nerlens Noel contributed 14 points, six rebounds and a career- high six blocks in the win. The Sixers, who have won two straight home games since taking the first two at home last season, snapped their season-opening 17-game losing streak with a win over Minnesota on Dec. 3. The Sixers scored a season-best 61 points in the first half and topped the 100-point mark for the first time since Dec. 13 in an overtime loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The bottom line is that we played defense in the second half. Thats where it starts and stops with me, Sixers coach Brett Brown said. Phillys mini road trip wont get much easier as itll visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. LeBron James group has won nine in a row.
