RENTON, Wash. Marcus Cannon Jersey . -- Doug Baldwin does not want to be in the middle of this debate. On one side is his guy from college, Andrew Luck, whom Baldwin believes will one day be recognized as one of the all-time great quarterbacks. On the other is the guy delivering passes to Baldwin now, Russell Wilson, who is enjoying just as much success as Luck, both in their second NFL seasons. Two great QBs, two decidedly unique talents that will meet on the field for the first time on Sunday when the Colts host the Seahawks. Of course, the first meeting between the two leads to comparisons and discussions of what traits or skills one has that the other doesnt. It makes for great debate and was not a path Baldwin wanted to go down. "Theyre both very, very good quarterbacks," Baldwin said. "Highly intelligent. Both can make plays with their feet. Both have great arms." And then Baldwin paused and chuckled. "I dont want to take it any further than that," he said. Luck and Wilson are part of a quarterback class that will always be linked and overanalyzed, even if they are all very different players. While Robert Griffin III won the rookie of the year award, its been Luck and Wilson who so far have enjoyed the most overall success. Seattle is off to its first 4-0 start in franchise history. Indianapolis is 3-1 and sitting on top of the AFC South along with Tennessee. Sunday would be a big game without these two quarterbacks involved. "They vary in some ways, but theyre also very similar in some ways," Baldwin said. "The cerebral part of the game, they are definitely similar in, and they both study the game of football tremendously and take different aspects of players they have watched like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers. I know Luck loved watching Aaron Rodgers and I think the cerebral part of the game is very similar." Luck is the prototype, the guy who fit the mould of how a quarterback should look, how he should analyze the game and how he should lead a team. The one who was calling his own plays in college and amazes teammates past and present with his knowledge of the game. "Hes an incredibly perspicacious guy. Hes incredibly intelligent at the line of scrimmage, he uses great verbiage, he recognizes defences quickly," said Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman, a teammate of Lucks at Stanford. "Hes probably one of the most intelligent quarterbacks out there in the way he reads coverages and the way he reads the games." Wilson is the outlier, who breaks convention with his lack of size, but makes up for being vertically challenged with his smarts and the athletic ability to keep plays alive when nothing is there. "Hes a phenomenal playmaker when things go south. NFL arm strength, you can make every throw, you see him spinning out, running backward, and chucking the ball 70 yards down field in stride to someone running, which is incredibly impressive," Luck said. "So when things sort of go south or guys run free, his ability to extend plays and make something happen is very impressive." Statistically, both are about even early in their sophomore seasons. Luck has thrown for more yards, although with an improved running game in Indianapolis hes not being called upon to pass as much as he did last year. Wilson has a slightly better passer rating and has thrown for one more touchdown than Luck. Even what would seem to separate the two, doesnt. Wilsons improvisation when a play breaks down is part of the Seahawks offence. While Wilsons need to scramble for safety has happened more than Seattle would like -- especially last week against Houston -- hes escaped a number of potential negative yardage situations and has only been sacked 13 times, a number that for most quarterbacks facing the pressure he has would be higher. That has led to Wilson rushing for 131 yards so far this season, good for fifth in the league among QBs. But right behind him is Luck, with 126 yards rushing. "When I have watched him, seems like he does a great job staying in the pocket, stepping up sliding and just extending plays. Finding a way. Hes so athletic for how big he is, I think thats the thing that impresses me the most about his game in general, hes a very athletic football player," Wilson said. "My creativity, I just try to extend the play. I try to keep my eyes downfield. Jefferson injured his foot in the first quarter of Sundays 99-88 loss to the two-time defending NBA champions. His left foot remains in a walking boot and hell continue to receive treatment for the next two days. First-year coach Steve Clifford said the medical staff informed him Jefferson doesnt run the risk of serious injury if he continues to play on the injured foot. Clifford also said the injury wont require surgery this off-season. "There would be no long term effects, nothing that could be permanent going forward. So that part were not worried about," Clifford said. In essence, the injury is all about the 6-foot-10, 289-pound Jefferson managing the pain, something the 10-year NBA veteran said he didnt do well in Game 1 even though he finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the loss. "I have to adjust to the pain," Jefferson said. "I have to go out there and know that its going to be there and have that mindset. To me that will make me handle it a lot better. Last game it came out of nowhere and I didnt know what I was limited to and what I could and couldnt do. Now I know." Jefferson received two pain killer injections during Sundays game after injuring the foot in the first quarter while coming off a double screen. He said he will continue to receive injections to handle the pain throughout the series. "They are going to be my new best friend," he said with a laugh. After Sundays game, Heat centre/power forward Chris Bosh said Miami went after Jefferson to test his injured foot. The Bobcats are expecting the Heat will run plenty of pick and rolls at Jefferson to test his mobility in Game 2. But Clifford seems more worried about Jeffersons play on the offensive end, rather this ability to adjust on defence. "I thought it hampered him a lot more offensively than defensively," Clifford said. "We watched on film a couple of the pick and rolls and he defended them fine. His problem is he cant pivot hard off that foot and that is such a big part of his game -- the quick spins, going one way, faking and going back the other way. I thought it hurt his offence a lot more than his defence." Point guard Kemba Walker, who led the Bobcats in scoring in Game 1, said he and his teammates are going to have to help pick up the slack if Jefferson is limited. "I definitely think I have to increase my level of play and be a lot more aggressive offensively," Walker said. "Other guys as well. I think everyone is looking forward to that challenge." Assuming that Don Sterling has control over the trust, he would be the one with the sole authority to sign off on the sale. However, ESPNs Ramona Shelburne has reported that Don Sterling has been declared by "medical experts" as "mentally incapacitated." As a result, his wife Shelly has obtained sole power over the trust. A court, though, will generally hold a competency hearing and make that ruling. Given the speed at which this sale has been handled, it would be a surprise to learn that such a hearing was held. Rather, it seems he may have undergone a psychological assessment. As a result, should Sterling not agree to sell the team, he could turn around and sue the league. If he is indeed not mentally incapacitated, he would argue that his wife Shelley did not have the authority to unilaterally sign off on the sale of the team. Sterling could also argue proportionality: the punishment doesnt fit the crime. While his comments were disturbing, he would argue that they were made in private, illegally recorded and nothing unlawful was said. As a result, compelling the disposition of the team is too severe a penalty. As far as the NBA, it has reasonable arguments to make to strip the Sterling family trust of its ownership stake in the Clippers. Bottom line is that the NBA Constitution provides that an owner cannot do anything that "adversely" affects the league. With sponsors, players and fans all reacting negatively to Sterlings comments, the NBA is arguing that his comments adversely impacted the leagues economics and reputation. So even if Sterling did not have the intention of making those comments on account of cognitive impairment, the leagues rules focus on the impact or result of those comments. On the other hand, if Sterling does not oppose the sale of the team, the NBA will want him to sign a release waiving all claims against the league arising from this case. Basically, the league will want his guarantee he wont sue. Since a lawsuit could be worth billions, this release is pretty important. There has been some talk that Shelley may want to stay on as a part-owner. The NBA wants the Sterling name permanently disassociated from the team so that wont fly. The league will therefore want an assurance from Shelley that she is out. The hearing to strip the Sterling family of its ownership of the team (or as the league calls it, its NBA "membership"
is scheduled for Tuesday June 3. At the hearing, the league will need 22 of 29 owners to vote to remove Sterling. Assuming the league has the votes (a pretty safe assumption), Sterling would be removed as owner immediately following the vote and Commissioner Adam Silver would take over control of the team. Its that quick. In light of the potential sale of the team to Ballmer, the league is likely to postpone the June 3 hearing if it has assurances from Sterling that he will not oppose the imminent sale the team. Memphis forward Zach Randolph has agreed to a contract extension with the Grizzlies, his agent said Friday. Brooklyn Nets Jersey . Here are some of my observations from Week 1 for the Alouettes. Positive yards Dan Hawkins: Seemed to have an early grasp on the CFL game. He managed the clock well, conceded safeties when needed and procedure calls were minimal. S.J. Green: Came up big when needed. In a receiving corps full of stars, he caught the game-breaking touchdown and was the most reliable of the bunch on the night. Geoff Tisdale: I felt he was involved, he did get hit up on the Clarence Denmark TD but it was tight coverage. His early interception did help the Alouettes set the tone for the first half. Tyrone Carrier andd Noel Devine: You can already sense a jump in the Alouettes special teams game as both have dynamic speed. Chris McCullough Nets Jersey. Devine also brought a certain punch to the Als offence when needed. Other Notable Positives: Kyries Hebert, Mike Edem, Sean Whyte. Negative yards Pass Protection: The same issue the Alouettes had last season once Brandon Whitaker went down to injury. It is never good when a 40-year-old QB gets sacked five times in a game. Special teams coverage: This will take time with a brand new coaching staff but the Als saw too many TDs returned against them last season so adjustments will need to be made to solve an early problem. Jamel Richardson: After a sub-par season in 2012, youd expect a few mistakes early in the season but it looked just like last season. Other Notable Negatives: Luc Brodeur-Jourdain, Chris Jennings On the injury front, the main concern was Anthony Calvillos throwing hand as halfway through the game, he was wincing after hitting it on a helmet. He didnt miss a snap so the worries were put to rest quickly. Calvillo started strong, struggled a little in the third quarter but came out firing in the fourth after trying to rally the troops with some rarely shown emotion after a Chris Jennings drop. All in all, Montreal picked up a road win to start the season, which is never easy. They get to do it all over against Winnipeg next Thursday in Montreal. Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series is Tuesday in Pittsburgh. New York advanced in the first round with a Game 7 win over Philadelphia. St. Louis rejoined his teammates for Game 5 in Pittsburgh on Friday, after a quick trip to Montreal to be with his family. That dedication inspired his teammates during a 5-1 win and carried over to Sunday. "Its probably one of the cooler things Ive been a part of in my professional career," said Derek Stepan, who earned the first assist on St. Louis goal. "The emotion on that goal is something that I will never forget." Fans were already chanting "Mar-ty, Mar-ty" on his first shift. The cheers got louder after he scored. Jeremy Maclin is on many a fantasy experts breakout watch heading into the season. Despite hovering around the 1,000-yard mark in each of his four seasons, Maclin has yet to crack the mark. That figures to change if the 26-year-old can stay healthy a year after tearing his ACL and missing the whole season. “I just know him from what Ive seen of him (before the injury),” Eagles receivers coach Bob Bicknell told The Times of Trenton regarding Maclin. “And he looks the same. Hes catching the ball, making plays. No charges were filed against Winston by Leon County prosecutors who investigated the case nearly a year after the woman said the attack happened. But Carroll said her client, who was an FSU student at the time, was sexually assaulted. The woman was 19 and reported what happened to Tallahassee Police. At a mid-December news conference, Carroll criticized the way the police investigation was handled, saying that detectives failed to interview key witnesses, used unreliable and incomplete forensic tests and never tested the alleged victims blood for the presence of date-rape drugs. Carroll said that her client was "treated like a suspect." Tallahassee police have defended their handling of the case and Carroll said she received a letter from the department that said an internal affairs investigation found that the case was handled with proper procedures. Carroll has also criticized police for not submitting her clients sexual assault kit to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab until Jan. 17, 2013 -- 39 days after it was taken. The attorney questioned whether evidence was properly preserved during those 39 days. Carroll says she asked Floridas attorney general, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the governor for an independent examination into the rape investigation, claiming it was riddled with problems. Scott "didnt even give us the courtesy of a response," Carroll said Thursday. On December 13, Scott, through a spokeswoman, said he declined to look into the matter. Jackie Schutz at the time said local prosecutors and state law-enforcement authorities did "a thorough investigation of this case and they concluded that no further action on this matter is required." Carroll sent Scott a letter on Dec. 19 -- along with one from the woman and her mother. The documents were released Thursday by Scotts office following a public records request. In a one-page letter, the woman who has accused Winston told Scott that her attorney received calls from two other FSU students who said they were raped, but were "discouraged" from going through with a prosecution. The accusers mother said in her letter that she knows the governor has daughters and asked him to "put yourself in my shoes for a moment."
