ENGLEWOOD, Colo. ETwaun Moore Jersey . - John Elway and John Fox embraced as they agreed to amicably part ways.Hugs and handshakes might not have been necessary had the Denver Broncos gone out kicking and screaming more often under Fox, the 59-year-old coach whos on the NFL job market with a 49-22 record in Denver on his resume.Nobody had a better regular-season record in any of the last three seasons than the Broncos did with Peyton Manning at quarterback. Yet, Denver lost two first-round playoff games as heavy favourites at home and suffered a 35-point thumping in last years Super Bowl.Elway, the general manager, said on Tuesday he was disappointed the Broncos didnt display more fire against the underdog Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, especially coming off a bye.At least in that last game, you want to feel like you go out kicking and screaming when youre right there, Elway said. And two years in a row it didnt feel like we went out kicking and screaming.Still, Elway thanked Fox and said the two remained friends.I like John Fox as a man very much. He is a very, very good man. Hes got a tremendous heart, even the new one they fixed is still tremendous. And hes a guy that I will always have a personal relationship with. Because I, and we, as an organization, do owe John Fox a tremendous amount because of what he did accomplish the last four years. What they wont owe Fox is his 2015 and 16 salaries if he lands one of the other head coaching jobs that are open.Elway said he did not press Manning for a decision on his future when they met the day after Denvers 24-13 loss to Indianapolis in the AFC divisional playoffs. He said he told the soon-to-be-39-year-old to take a few weeks to make his decision.I told him in four or five weeks — Im going to stay in touch with him — well get back together and see where he is because the career that hes had, what hes done not only in the NFL but in the short time hes been here with the Denver Broncos, what hes meant to us is tremendous, Elway said. The bottom line is we want him back. With or without Manning in 2015, the Broncos have a talent-laden team ready for another playoff run, maybe behind Brock Osweiler, whos served a three-year apprenticeship under Manning.Elway described the parting with Fox as the culmination of a disagreement over what it takes to win the Super Bowl, and stuck to a statement that has lived with him since he signed Manning: There is no Plan B. Plan A is still the same — to win a world championship. While coaching candidates will be eager to know the quarterbacks plans, Manning will certainly want to know how much things will change under a new coaching staff in 2015.Of equal importance to Manning is learning whether his late-season slump was primarily due to scheme, age, or health — he played with a strained thigh on his plant leg for the final month — and also whether he believes Elway can bolster his protection in free agency and the draft. The Broncos made four changes in their offensive line during the season. But pressure, especially up the middle, was a constant concern for Manning, who needs the time and space to step into his throws post-spinal fusion surgery as more of his thrust comes from his hips than his right arm. After spending $60 million in guarantees to bolster Denvers defence last year, Elway said hell address his O-line this off-season.Having been a quarterback, he knows that Im going to try to take care of him and that offensive line, Elway said. Anthony Davis Pelicans Jersey . Hes the same player he always was, only now his efforts are being rewarded. MONTREAL -- Rene Bourque scored in the second period to give the Montreal Canadiens a 2-0 victory over the Flames on Tuesday, ending Calgarys five-game win streak in the process. Kevin King Womens Jersey . Carey Price made 27 saves for Montreal (30-21-6) for his fourth shutout of the year and second in four games. David Desharnais added an empty netter for the Canadiens. Reto Berra stopped 25 shots for Calgary (21-28-7). Bourque, in only his second game against his old team, scored the winner for the Canadiens at 16:15 of the second period. Bourque was rather fortuitous on the play, notching his eighth goal of the year when a Brandon Prust pass banked off his left leg and beat Berra. The Flames have now lost four straight on the road. The Canadiens, meanwhile, have yet to lose in regulation this year when leading after two periods (25-0-3). After a scoreless first period, the Flames gave Montreal a scare with a full two-minute, two-man advantage early in the second. With Tomas Plekanec in the box for roughing, as well as Lars Eller for handling the puck on the ensuing faceoff, Calgarys struggling power play took three shots on Price -- none too threatening. The Habs have now killed off 27 straight penalties. They last allowed a goal while playing shorthanded on Jan. 24 against Detroit. NOTES: Mike Cammalleri made his return to Montreal, playing against his old club for the first time since being traded to the Flames in 2012. ... Berra got the nod in nets in place of Flames starting goaltender Karri Ramo (lower body). Ramo was injured in the first period of Calgarys 4-3 overtime win over Minnesota on Saturday. ... Dale Weise, 25, made his Canadiens debut playing on the fourth line with Ryan White and Michael Bournival. Weise was traded to Montreal from Vancouver for defenceman Raphael Diaz. ... The Habs cap their four-game homestand against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, while the Flames play the New York Islanders. Kevin King Jersey . Raonic, the No. 8 seed from Thornhill, Ont., had 18 aces in the match. He needed one hour 39 minutes to complete the victory.TSNs Jack Armstrong starts the week with five quick thoughts on the injury to the season-ending injury to the Pistons Brandon Jennings, the maturation of OJ Mayo of the Bucks, Iman Shumperts potential with the Cavs, Quincy Pondexters new role with the Grizzlies and the emergence of the T-Wolves Gorgui Dieng. FIVE QUICK NBA THOUGHTS: 1. BRANDON JENNINGS (Pistons): Im bummed out for the young man. Hes been awesome for the past four or five weeks and now, playing the best ball of his career, a freak accident leads to him tearing his Achilles. In my opinion, the Pistons would have ended up as the eighth seed in the East if he stayed healthy. Now, thats doubtful. Theres going to be lots of pressure now on DJ Augustin to produce nightly. Hes a good player, but its a lot to ask in filling in for Jennings, a guy so pivotal to their success. Its a real shame. 2. OJ MAYO (Bucks): Mayos numbers are respectable (11.3 PPG and 2.9 APG), yet I look beyond them and like even more of what I see. Hes playing with energy, really competing defensively and slowing down and trying to be a better teammate. Coach Jason Kidd is getting him to mature and buy in. I like his game right now. 3. IMAN SHUMPERT (Cavs): His offence might be a bit inconsistent, but his athleticism and perimeter defensive ability grade high in my books. Vince Biegel Jersey. If Shumpert stays within himself on the offensive end and concentrates on being a defensive stopper, hell be an impact defender for the Cavs. And you gotta have those guys. Ask Memphis with Tony Allen - they can really help you in a perimeter-dominated league. I love the three pick-ups (Shumpert, JR Smith and Timofey Mozgov) by general manager David Griffin. 4. QUINCY PONDEXTER (Pelicans): He had 14 and five last night in a big win over the Mavs. Pondexter is a sold pick-up from the Grizzlies and New Orleans might be a nice spot for him. Hell get the minutes he needs to get comfortable and hes a solid two-way player. It was a subtle move to acquire him, yet I like how he might fit here. 5. GORGUI DIENG (Timberwolves): I loved him in college at Rick Pitinos Louisville. This guy gets after it and takes no prisoners. Diengs having a solid year averaging 9.9 PPG and 8.3 RPG. Hes a very good shot-blocker and team defender. He and Andrew Wiggins are the young, bright spots for the T-Wolves and Dieng is certainly a keeper. SAN DIEGO -- Ian Kennedy has the luxury of pitching in spacious Petco Park. Ray Bourque Jersey . One would think, anyway. "All my wins have been on the road," Kennedy said. "That is how it works sometimes." Kennedy earned his first home victory of the season on Sunday, pitching the San Diego Padres past the Chicago Cubs 4-3. Kennedy (3-6) allowed one run and two hits with six strikeouts. He walked two in earning his first win in five starts. Huston Street got his 14th save in as many chances despite giving up Starlin Castros two-run homer in the ninth inning. The Cubs, who had four hits, were trying to win their first series since Sept. 9-11 in Cincinnati. The Padres backed Kennedy with some rare run support. "He deserved that one," Padres manager Bud Black said. "Hes been a victim of not a lot of runs and if you look across the board at his numbers, all that stuff, hes been good. We just havent scored for him and Im glad we got it done in the bottom half of the sixth." It appeared Kennedy was headed for another tough-luck loss. He was trailing 1-0 when he left for a pinch-hitter in the sixth. The Padres scored four times in the inning, surprising Chicago starter Jason Hammel (5-3). "I felt in complete command," Hammel said. "I felt like I was going to go complete-game shutout. Everything was working." Chase Headley tied it with a sacrifice fly and the Padres went ahead 2-1 Carlos Quentins pinch-hit single off reliever James Russell. Two walks by Hammel helped extend the inning. For Quentin, it was his third pinch-hit RBI in two games after a two-run, homer in Saturdays loss. "We were going to stay away a little bit from Quentin," Cubs manager Rick Renteria said. "The ball just came back out over the plate." Jedd Gyorko added an RBI double and when centre fielder Emilio Bonifacio misplayed the ball for an error, pinch-runner Tyson Ross also scored for a 4-1 lead. Ross, a pitcher, ran for Quentin and scored a run for the first time in the majors. He slid home, although there was no throw to the plate. "I figured better safe than sorry," Ross said. A sixth-inning home run by Junior Lake gave the Cubs a brief lead, although it took a little while for him to celebrate. Lake hit an arching drive to left field and Seth Smith appeared as if he caught the ball before it reached the seats. A disappointed Lake nearly veered off the basepaths, but he resumed his trot third when umpire Greg Gibson gave the home run signal. Hammel retired 11 straight before Yonder Alonso lined a single in the fifth inning for the Padres first hit. Alonso stole second and advanced to third on Cameron Maybins one-out infield single. But Maybin was picked off first by Hammel and Rene Rivera struck out to end the threat. The Cubs didnt have much luck against Kennedy early. Castro got into scoring position in the second inning after a leadoff single and a walk, but Kennedy got the next three batters. Hammel pitched 5 2-3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks, with five strikeouts. But this day belonged to Kennedy, and that it came at Petco Park made all the better. "Its always great to see runs scored like that," Kennedy said, "whether youre pitching or not." NOTES: The Padres are encouraged with the progress RHP Andrew Cashner is making with his sore right elbow. Cashner will throw again on Monday after playing catch on Saturday. ... Padres LHP Robbie Erlin, on the DL with a sore throwing elbow, is scheduled to throw next weekend ... Quentin is expected to start on Monday against the Diamondbacks. Quentin had missed four games with a groin injury. ... Luis Valbuenas eight-game hitting streak for the Cubs, which tied a career high, was snapped. ... Cubs RHP Jeff Samardzija (0-4, 1.96) faces Giants RHP Yusmeiro Petit (3-1, 4.76) on Monday. It will be Samardzijas 200th career game. ... Ross (5-4, 2.64) goes against Arizona RHP Brandon McCarthy (1-6, 4.67) on Monday. Ray Bourque Bruins Jersey . Broad will join fellow seamer James Anderson and skipper Alastair Cook in Englands current 100 club - and become just the 14th Englishman in history to reach the milestone - when the tourists begin the five-match at Rajkot on Wednesday. But the Nottinghamshire paceman, who made his Test debut in 2007, insists he is focused on righting the wrongs of the Test defeat to Bangladesh in Dhaka eight days ago. Obviously Im aware how special an achievement it is because of the players that have come before me - the amount theyve given to English cricket, said the 30-year-old. Broads pace partner James Anderson (left) is already a member of the 100 club So it will be a special cap to receive. But actually, I think what excites me more is we hope this game will be the start of a huge series for us as well.Theres no bigger occasion than the start of a series in India against the world No 1 team.I try not to think about end of careers, because I think that makes you slow down as a player. I think as soon as you set those targets, you stop chasing to improve, you stop training very hard.I certainly want to play in big series, and that counts at least two more Ashes series in my view. England captain Alastair Cook hopes Anderson will be fit for the Second Test in India after joining the tour Of Broads 99 Test appearances to date, only three have come in India and he has had precious little success in the country, taking just two wickets at the cost of 290 runs. I think I only bowled 25 overs in the series.I lacerated the fat pad in my left heel before the first Test match in the warm-up game, and the scans just didnt show it.It was a frustrating period for me, but I feel in a pretty good place at the moment... and Im excited to get going. Renan Barao made a statement as the undisputed bantamweight champion at UFC 169 on Saturday in New Jersey, but was his victory over Urijah Faber called too soon by referee Herb Dean? The champion looked superior from start to finish, exposing the challanger with overwhelming speed and accuracy. Erick Aybar Jersey . Midway through the first round Barao dropped Faber with a hard right hand and pounced on his wounded opponent. As Barao began to unleash a flurry of strikes, Faber turtled on his hands and knees and tucked his arm against the side of his head to protect himself. Dean stopped the fight at 3:42 of the opening round after Barao landed more than a dozen blows to the shoulder, forearm and neck area of the huddled Faber. A conscious and alert Faber looked up at Dean in confusion at the stoppage. He said in the post-fight interview that he assured the referee he was still fighting despite a lack of movement during Baroas onslaught. The UFC defines a knockout as a fighter who is knocked down and "either unconscious, disoriented or unable to intelligently defend himself." Also that a referee is "the sole arbiter of a contest and is the only individual authorized to stop a contest." The question is, does a lack of movement mean a lack of intelligent or conscious defending? Barao believed he had won, while Faber thought he had more time. Did Dean miss the mark with his stoppage of the fight, or was his judgment spot on? As always, its Your! Call Yangervis Solarte Jersey . Hicham Khalouas late goal improved Almerias chances of avoiding relegation in a match dominated by contentious calls, including three penalties. One day after Barcelonas 4-3 win at Real Madrid featured three penalties, referees again dominated a wide-open game that saw Almeria ultimately move out of the relegation zone and one point ahead of Getafe which took its place. Wil Myers Jersey . -- Golden State Warriors reserve centre Ognjen Kuzmic is expected to miss at least six weeks after undergoing surgery on his fractured right hand. http://www.baseballpadresmlb.com/authentic-dave-winfield-padres-jersey/ .com) - Richard Shermans two interceptions highlighted a dominant defensive effort, as the Seattle Seahawks routed the San Francisco 49ers in a highly anticipated NFC West Thanksgiving clash. It wasn’t the copy and paste job the Seahawks’ roster comparison was, but the New England Patriots are still bringing along a number of familiar faces from their last Super Bowl appearance, three years ago. The most important piece is of course back in quarterback Tom Brady. Brady’s numbers are down this year from his 2011 campaign – more than 1,000 yards less passing and six less touchdown passes – but his unofficial MVP rating is about the same. Another big offensive piece is back in tight end Rob Gronkowski, and this year he won’t be inhibited by an ankle injury, both during the game and at the post-game dance party. Gronk’s two best seasons have both now culminated in Super Bowl appearances. In 2011 the massive tight end had 1,327 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns, and this year he finished with 1,124 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Gronk’s running mate from three years ago however won’t be with the team, with Aaron Hernandez of course now behind bars and standing trial for murder. Along with Brady and Gronkowski, offensive linemen Nate Solder and Dan Connolly are returning as offensive starters for the Patriots, although both in different positions. Solder, a rookie the last time New England made it to the Super Bowl, moves from right tackle to left tackle, while Connolly shifts from centre to guard. Wes Welker is back in the form of Julian Edelman, who was actually with the team three years ago. Primarily a punt returner, Edelman played as much defensive back as he did wide receiver in 2011. That won’t be the case this time around as the (listed as) 5-foot-10 speedster has found a home as a pass catcher and could be Brady’s top target Sunday. Brandon LaFell presents a bit of an upgrade at the veteran starting wide receiver spot. The only position group with a much different look is the running backs. BenJarvus Green-Ellis led a ragtag committee approach in 2011 that was never considered much of a threat. The Patriots’ employed a similar approach for much of this year until LeGarrette Blount walked out on the Pittsburgh Steelers and fell into New England’s lap. After Blount’s 148-yard, three-touchdown performance in the AFC Championship Game, the Seahawks will surely be taking him more seriously than the New York Giants took the LawFirm. Five other offensive players are making their second trip to the Super Bowl with the Patriots in RB Shane Vereen, WR Matthew Slater, and offensive linemen Sebastian Vollmer, Ryan Wendell, and Marcus Cannon. On the defensive side of the ball, three starters haven’t moved on from 2011, highlighted by the immovable Vince Wilfork. Now 33-years-old, Wilfork is actually playing at a higher level this year than in 2011, his run defence numbers up more than 14 points according to Pro Football Focus, a good thing with a heavy dose of Marshawn Lynch expected to come his way Sunday. Rob Ninkovich remains alongside Wilfork and the new cast, highlighted by impressive linebacker Dont’a Hightower, presents an upgrade over the front seven of three years ago. While there is some name recognition on the left column in the front seven, those veterans have mostly been replaced by younger, hungrier players. Devin McCourty returns as a starter in the secondary and is joined by Kyle Arrington, who lost his starting spot along the way, and Patrick Chung. The addition of Darrelle Revis of course tips the scale in favour of this year’s ssquad. Johnny Manziel Jersey. Stephen Gostkowski leads a similar looking special teams unit as well, although while his long snapper Danny Aiken remains, punter Zoltan Mesko has been replaced by Ryan Allen. Mesko’s 46.5-yard average on punts in 2011 is almost identical to Allen’s 46.4-yard average this year. See the full roster comparison from Super Bowl XLVI to XLIX below. OCALA, Fla. Alex English Jersey . - Well-rested and healthy, Michelle Wie is ready to get back to work.Im very excited for this year, said Wie, set to begin play Wednesday in the LPGA Tours season-opening Coates Golf Championship. No major swing changes. Just working on building upon last year. I want to just keep the momentum going, just keep building. My goal for this year is the same. I want to be consistent, but at the same time I want to get a little bit better each and every day.The 25-year-old Wie won the U.S. Womens Open last year at Pinehurst, then struggled the rest of the season with a stress fracture in her right hand.My top priority this year is to stay healthy, Wie said. Ive always kind of struggled with that, so Im really keeping on top of it. Been working out really hard. The sixth-ranked Wie also won last year in her native Hawaii.Shes one of eight top-10 players in the field at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club. Top-ranked Inbee Park also is playing along with No. 2 Lydia Ko, No. 3 Stacy Lewis, No. 5 Suzann Pettersen, No. 8 So Yeon Ryu, No. 9 Karrie Webb and No. 10 Lexi Thompson.Park and Lewis shared the tour lead last year with three titles. Lewis also had six runner-up finishes.Thats what motivates me this year that last year could have been an unbelievable year, Lewis said. It was good, but it could have been unbelievable. So thats what I am looking for, Im looking for a major this year, but I think its really just about trying to get better every day and making little changes here and there that hopefully pay off in the long run.A ball change kept her busy during the off-season.Normally, I like to put the clubs away for a few weeks and just get rid of them, but I couldnt this time because I was having to make a golf ball change, Lewis said. The golf ball I was playing has come off the conforming list, so I had to find a new golf ball. I tested I think about every golf ball on the market. So thats what I did most of December.Park is starting the season earlier than she has before.I never really played the two first events, but I decided to play this year and get the feel of it early, Park said. It was a very short off-season, but I feel like I did the things that I really needed to get done. Worked on the swing, worked on rehab, my body.Cheyenne Woods, Tiger Woods niece, is making her first start as a tour member. She won the Australian Ladies Masters in February and recovered from a second-round 79 at Q-school to earn her tour card in December. It feels great to officially finally be a member, Woods said. Ive had the privilege to play a few LPGA events in the past, but to now be a member feels a little different. So Im excited for this week and to finally tee it up.Sadena Parks also is starting her rookie season, giving the tour two black members for the first since 1971. Woods and Parks are the fifth and sixth black members in tour history. Wilson Chandler Nuggets Jersey . Greece was on the wrong end of a 3-0 rout to Colombia in its first game of the tournament. They surrendered a goal in just the sixth minute of the contest, and despite some promising attacking play, failed to crawl back into the match. Japan, on the other hand, struck first in its match with Ivory Coast, with Keisuke Honda putting his side into the lead in the 16th minute. Mike Miller Nuggets Jersey . Hello Kerry, After watching Nino Niederreiter clobber Alex Burrows with an open-ice hit on Wednesday, do you think he should have gotten more than the two minutes for interference. On little sleep after travelling back from Quebec in the morning and under soggy conditions, Winnipeg Goldeyes pitcher Chris Salamida made sure the Goldeyes started a seven-game homestand with a win. Salamida went eight innings to lead the Goldeyes (25-14) to a 4-1 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (23-1 in front of 5,023 rain-soaked fans at Shaw Park Friday night. Thanks to the St. Paul Saints losing to the Sioux Falls Canaries, Winnipeg now has a three-game lead on the RedHawks and Saints in the American Associations North Division. After giving up the games first run in the top of the fourth inning off an infield single, Salamida retired the next 13 consecutive RedHawks and his teammates did the rest. "When you have a defence like that, its pretty easy to pitch," Salamida said. "You cant ask for a better situation." The Goldeyes quickly took the lead in the bottom of the fourth, as Reggie Abercrombie singled in Ray Sadler and Donnie Webb scored thanks to a balk by Fargos starting pitcher Drew Bowlin. Winnipeg added a run in the seventh when Casey Haerther singlled in Ryan Pineda and another in the eighth when Luis Alen dropped a single into right field to score Abercrombie. Jusuf Nurkic Nuggets Jersey. "We came off a pretty good road trip and everybody is swinging the bat pretty well right now," Abercrombie said. Haerther led Winnipeg with three hits in the game to improve his league-leading batting average to .376. Salamida, who allowed just one run in eight innings of work and struck out seven, improved his record to 3-3 with the win. "I hated facing him when I was in Sioux Falls and I have even more praise being on his team than when I played against him," Abercrombie said of Salamida. "When hes on, its pretty hard to hit him." Bowlin suffered his first loss of the year for Fargo, while Chris Kissock pitched the ninth inning for his seventh save of the season. The second game of the four-game series between the Goldeyes and RedHawks goes Saturday night at Shaw Park. Lefty Nick Hernandez (3-0, 3.51) will take the ball for Winnipeg against Fargos Taylor Stanton (1-4, 3.72). The game was delayed 34 minutes by rain. TORONTO - Late in the third quarter of the Raptors rout of Milwaukee on Friday, fans began chanting: We want Bruno!Thats how massive Torontos lead was. Vince Biegel Jersey .Lou Williams scored 22 points and the Raptors scorched the Bucks 124-83 on Friday, in a game that was both a gigantic punctuation mark on their seven-game homestand, and made rookie Bruno Caboclo a star.It was great, the crowd go into it. Thats definitely a memory hell have forever, DeMar DeRozan said of the 19-year-old, and his NBA debut. The Raptors margin of victory was one point shy of their franchise best.Kyle Lowry added 20 points, while Jonas Valanciunas had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Eastern Conference-leading Raptors (10-2), who went 6-1 on their homestand. But it was Caboclo who was swarmed by reporters in the post-game dressing room. Williams lifted up his phone to snap a picture of the media mob around the youngster. DeRozan teased him saying loudly: You play one game and you get this?Butterflies in my stomach, said the shy Brazilian, whos still learning English. Everybodys saying my name. Its incredible. He said he heard the fans when they starting chanting his name in the third quarter.I put my head down, he said. It was pretty emotional.People love him, said fellow Brazilian Lucas Nogueira, who also made his NBA debut. Hes just like Justin Bieber. After the game, Caboclo sent out two tweets — one in English and one in Portuguese — thanking fans in both Canada and Brazil. Thanks all the fans tonite for their support. Youre all really special. #WeTheNorth, Caboclo wrote. The Raptors pulled away virtually from the opening whistle, and had topped their franchise-best lead (43 points) when they went up by 45 late in the third quarter. The capacity crowd of 19,800 Air Canada Centre fans were rewarded for their chants when Caboclo checked into the game to start the fourth. And the six-foot-nine rookie — known for his almost freakish seven-foot-six wingspan — had the fans flying out of their seats when Williams found him for an alley-oop dunk for his first NBA points. The rookie followed it up with a three-pointer on Torontos next possession on an entertaining night of basketball. His second three with 6:01 left in the game put the Raptors up by a whopping 52 points, and by the games final few minutes, the ACC crowd was chanting Lets go Bru-no!This game, I feel not comfortable, said Caboclo, who finished with eight points. I try but its different than the pre-season. So different.Terrence Ross finished with 13 points, and Greivis Vasquez scored 11.Jabari Parker had 15 points to top the Bucks, who were coming off a 122-118 triple overtime win over Brooklyn two nights earlier.I take full responsibility. I thing the big thing is we got off to a slow start and just couldnt catch up, said Bucks coach Jason Kidd.Raptors coach Dwane Casey had cautioned his players not to look ahead past Milwaukee to Saturdays tough matchup against LeBron James and the Cavaliers in Cleveland. If we dont come out to take care of business, they can embarrass you, and just spank you like you stole something, Casey said before tip-off.In the end, all the embarassment belonged to the Bucks.I thought our mental focus was great, Casey said. Nobody in that locker-room was even talking about (Saturday) night. If were going to be an elite team, or grow to be an elite team in this league, we have to make sure to take care of business and take care of whats in front of us.The coach also had kind words for his young rookie, who was the surprise pick of the NBA draft when he was taken 20th overall.I thought it was special, Casey said on the fans reaction. Hes a beautiful kid. Like any other kid, hes learning and growing in the NBA. As a coach, I see him growing everyday and know what he needs to work on. Its great for him. That’s why as coaches were pushing to dress 15. If he wasnt in uniform tonight, he wouldnt have gotten that opportunity. The Raptors shot 52 per cent on the night, and hit 15 of their 25 shots from three-point range. They outrebounded the Bucks 57-30. Torontos best margin of victory was 42 points in a 96-54 win over Miami on March 19, 2008.Valanciunas had 12 points in the first quarter including the floater midway through the frame that put the Raptors up by 17 points. The Bucks fought back to within seven, but a three by Williams at the buzzer put Toronto up by 10 heading into the second.Williams was the high scorer with 11 points in a second quarter that saw Toronto top the Bucks 34-18. Williams hit yet another three at the buzzer to send the Raptors into the dressing room with a 71-45 advantage. The Raptors showed no mercy in the third, holding the Bucks to just 12 points and passing their franchise-best lead of 43 points late in the quarter, to go into the fourth up by 45.NOTES: The Raptors were missing James Johnson (ankle) and Tyler Hansbrough (shoulder). . . Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto of Toronto and former Blue Jays outfielder Vernon Wells were at the game. . . Toronto swept all four meetings with Milwaukee last season. This is a shot at redemption for Urijah Faber, his chance to win a title fight. Its also a massive proving ground for Jose Aldo, not that he needs it. If Aldo can pick up the victory, he will be at nearly a decade without defeat. He isnt even 27; his talent will only increase over the next few years. There is also a bout in the heavyweight division with Alistair Overeem facing Frank Mir. On paper it sounds like a great matchup but will need a dramatic ending or tense action packed rounds in order for people to be talking about it the next day. Here are the UFC 169 picks from the team at TSN 1290s the “Weigh In”. Jordan Cieciwa, Big Marv and Toby… thats right, just Toby. Catch us on air every Saturday at 11:30am ct/12:30pm et. Renan Barao (31-1-0) vs. Urijah Faber (30-6-0) Jordan Cieciwa Who doesnt love a big title fight? Well if you are Uriah Faber, history says you actually may not. His only losses came at the hands of champions. There are few people in the game as talented as him, especially when it comes to wrestling and the use of unorthodox strikes. Hes shown unbelievable skill with elbows off the cage and spinning back fists. His ability to target is second to none. Thats only gotten better with the addition of Duane ‘Bang Ludwig. Across the cage from him is the very dangerous Renan Barao. Barao came out of obscurity to start dismantling his competition in both the WEC and UFC. He is on nearly a decade long win streak. Ask anyone, except Eddie Wineland, and theyll say he is a submission specialist. He beat Wineland very quickly and with an amazing back kick to start the process. His talent is unquestioned now, and his ability to push the pace will make him hard to beat. So much so that I dont think “The California Kid” can do it. Barao via fourth round submission Big Marv You could make the argument that Urijah Faber was the fighter of the year in 2013. He went 4-0 last year, with only one of his fights going the distance. Even that fight, against Yuri Alcantara, was a dominant decision for Faber. In fact the last time Faber lost was to Renan Barao in 2012. Since then, the California Kid has been more determined than ever. With an incredible improvement in striking thanks to Alpha Males new coach Duane “Bang” Ludwig. However, lets not sleep on the champ. Renan Barao took that interim title with his win over Faber and has staked his claimed as not only the 135lb king, but also in the top five pound-for-pound fighters in the world. It is so hard to pick a winner here. Will Faber choke again in a championship fight situation? I say not this time. Urijah Faber via unanimous decision Toby This one should be an amazing fight! Faber had an outstanding 2013 and will look to finally become a UFC Champion, all that stands in his way is Renan Barao, who has the longest current unbeaten streak in active MMA today (33). This has fight of the night potential and as much as Id like to see “The California Kid” becoming the UFC champ I believe Renan Barao will have his hand raised in this one. Renan Barao via decision Jose Aldo (23-1-0) vs. Ricardo Lamas (13-2-0) JC What were you doing when you were 18? If you were an 18-year-old Jose Aldo, you were suffering your last MMA loss. At 27, Aldo has been on a nearly nine-year win streak. Most of those wins are while holding the UFC featherweight title. He is perhaps one of the sharpest fighters in the game. Fortunately, he isnt talked about all that often because it seems to have kept him hungry. Aldo willl probably keep this fight standing and use some amazing leg kicks to slow his opponent down. Josh Jones Youth Jersey. Though let it be known that Ricardo Lamas is no slouch either. Lamas is on a four-fight win streak of his own and looked great stopping Cub Swanson with a triangle choke and Erik Koch with elbows. The good news for fans, both these athletes stop fights including Aldo who has a 30% decision rate. That to me is fantastic. I think that, in combination with his skill level, will have this fight ending sometime in the fourth round. We will be treated to a lot of leg kicks and some great movement and skill on display. Jose Aldo via fourth round TKO Toby After watching Jose Aldo fight for the past couple of years Ive learned two things, he is without a doubt one of the best pound for pound fighters in MMA and its hard to bet against him. Ricardo Lamas is a real threat but I see Aldo getting his hand raised and us fans being one step closer to an Aldo vs. Pettis super fight. Jose Aldo via TKO BM Jose Aldo is one of those champions that just seems infallible. His striking is fast and vicious, his ground and pound is relentless, he has slick jiu jitsu and is almost impossible to take down. All of that adds up to him being one of the best in the world pound-for-pound. However, his opponent Ricardo Lamas has this crazy habit of winning fights he shouldnt. Sorry Toby, weve got to put the Aldo vs. Pettis super fight on hold, Lamas is taking this one. Ricardo Lamas via TKO round 4. Frank Mir (16-8-0) vs. Alistair Overeem (36-13-0) JC This is one of those fights that really means very little in the heavyweight division, but will be interesting to watch. I have a very bad feeling it will end in the first round with a toe hold, but who knows, Mir might try to show off his “highly average” boxing skills. Lets face it, Alistair Overeem comes into this fight with a bad rap for using drugs (very deserved), and being a one sided fighter. Overeem has no business being in the cage with a jujitsu whiz like Frank Mir. Mir is also not afraid to end a fight with an “uncool” submission. He grabbed Brock Lesnars toe and threatened to break it. The loser of this fight probably wont have much longer in the UFC, and I dont know that its a bad thing. The winner probably wont ever contend for a title, but at least they dont have to retire or go find work somewhere else. Its a simple case of a very impressive K-1 specialist in Overeem, meeting up with a jujitsu guy that will take the submission anyway he can. I expect that Mir will find and exploit the very large weakness that is Overeems ground game. Mir via second round submission. BM Both these guys are desperate for a win. With Overeem, he beat up Bigfoot for two rounds before his cockiness got the best of him. Against Travis Browne, he almost finished him, but Brown proved too tough and Overeem got caught. In Frank Mirs last fight, he was slow and Barnet destroyed him quickly. Against Cormier, he was slow and lost by decision. The difference between the two, Overeem still has it, while it looks like Mir does not. Plus, Mir wont be able to weather the early storm like Silva or Browne. Its going to be an early night for both men. Alistair Overeem via KO round 1 Toby This is a possible “Loser leaves town” fight, with both fighters coming off consecutive losses Mir (3) Overeem (2). Overeem has lost some weight which will help his cardio, I love watching both of these guys fight but in this case I believe Overeems stand-up will be the difference on Saturday. The new Barclays Premier League season gets underway on Saturday and prior to the first kick, TSN. Cordrea Tankersley Jersey .ca presents a week long look at some of the teams and stories that will shape the up coming campaign. Last season, Arsenal finally ended their trophy drought with an FA Cup championship. Can they bring more hardware to Emirates Stadium this season? Manager: Arsene Wenger Last Season: 24-7-7 (fourth in Premier League) Notable Additions: Mathieu Debuchy (Newcastle), David Ospina (Nice), Alexis Sanchez (Barcelona) and Calum Chambers (Southampton). Notable Subtractions: Nicklas Bendtner (free agent), Johan Djourou (Hamburger), Lukasz Fabianski (Swansea), Park Chu-Young (free agent), Bacary Sagna (Manchester City) and Thomas Vermalen (Barcelona). That was Then: For a good chunk of last season, it appeared as though the Gunners were primed to win their first Premiership title in nearly a decade. Staying in contention for so long may have been enough for the Emirates faithful as the season started out under dire circumstances. The teams failure to land a top-flight name on the transfer market, despite interest in the likes of David Villa and Christian Benteke left many fans wondering what the end-game was. The team then went out and lost its opener 3-1 to Aston Villa, on the back of a Benteke brace no less. The Gunners would rebound, however and seize control of the Premiership in Week 4 on the midst of what would become a nine-game unbeaten streak. In fact, outside of two visits to Manchester, the Gunners would not drop a game between their opener and a Feb. 8 trip to Anfield. Over that span, the club would spend just one week anywhere other than the top of the table. Olivier Giroud would prove the catalyst in the teams early-season success, finding the net in each of the teams first four games and having Welshman Aaron Ramsey capture the BPL Player of the Month Award for September. (The Canadian Press) However, their attack would take a hit in the new year, with Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil (amongst others) all missing considerable time. The Gunners would hit the skids for two months, winning just twice between Feb. 8 and April 6 dropping home points to both Manchester clubs and suffering a humiliating 6-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge. The club was able to stop the bleeding enough to pull together a five-game winning streak to finish the season and preserve their spot in Champions League. They were also able to bring some hardware to their supporters in the form of the FA Cup. That title, though, would not come easy despite early-round victories over Spurs, Liverpool and Everton. The Gunners edged defending Champs (/Championship club!) Wigan on the back of penalty kicks before eventually erasing a 0-2 deficit in extra time of the Final against Hull. This is Now: At least Arsene Wenger has delivered his clubs supporters with the off-season splash of talent that they so hungered for prior to last season. In the dying days of the 2014 World Cup, he secured one of the competitions breakout stars, working out a transfer for Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. (The Canadian Press) If Walcott returns to full health, Ozil, Giroud and Podolski keep form and the team gets a full season out of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the addition of Sanchez could give the Gunners an outright scary attack. It also helps them keep pace with their cross-town rivals in blue, after Chelsea added Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa. Based on last seasons progression, there is no reason to believe the Gunners cant compete for the Premiership if their core players stay healthy. A top-four finish at the very least should be expected given the Luis Suarez-sized hole in Liverpools attack. The team will have to find an new option with the arm-band as captain Thomas Vermaelen is off to Barcelona, but the club has enough proven depth, especially in the trio newly-minted World Champions: Ozil, Podolski and Per Mertesacker. Burning Question: Having finished no higher than third since 2004-05 can Arsenal be counted as a true Premiership contender? Or, is the team merely good enough to round out the top four? Raekwon McMillan Womens Jersey . As the only competitor to try two quads, much less complete them, Kovtun ended the day nearly nine points ahead of Japans Tatsuki Machida, who opened with a clean quad but then stepped out of the triple toe loop that was the second jump in his combination. Cordrea Tankersley Womens Jersey . -- Michael Frazier II scored 21 points, Dorian Finney-Smith added 11 and No. http://www.dolphinsauthoritystore.com/Authentic-Charles-Harris-Dolphins-Jersey/ . The same cant be said of last Saturdays 2-2 draw at Olympic Stadium against a very weakened New York Red Bulls side and one which had three stalwarts in Henry, Cahill and Olave back home in Harrison, NJ.When youre in Toronto, what are some of the things you like to do? I know you like to bike around Toronto. For sure, my first time in Toronto was in 1997 when I was in high school. The thing I remember about 1997 was all the underground tunnels we got to go through. The next time I got to go Toronto was 2006. I enjoy riding bikes, the rental bikes, I think it used to be called bike share it used to be known as Dixie for a number of years. Ive also spent time up there in Yorkville for the film festival. Ive been to Kensington Market. I enjoy walking up and down Queen a ton; I enjoy the boutiques and shopping and also some of the sneaker sports west of Spadina. I just enjoy being around the city; I think its one of the great cities certainly in North America and in the world.Sticking on the topic of shoes, you have a shoe vault?I do, I have a shoe vault in my house just a concrete room. We put a vault there on it just to top off the look. How many sneakers do you have? Whats your favorite pair?I have around 400 sneakers. Most of them are Jordans, I got some of my Air Jordans when I was in high school and my first pair were black and white patent leather concord 11s which came out in 1996 and I still have those in the original box. I have my original Air Jordan 4s from 1989 that I kept, but those are obviously falling apart and crumbling. Ive also collected a number of pairs that I like since than as well.Sticking with Canada, youre a big fan of Avril Lavigne, no?Yeah I am. Great Royals win & perfect concert to top off the night! Be good @brian_littrell @skulleeroz & @kevinrichardson #BSB pic.twitter.com/jRnAhwohfr — Jeremy Guthrie (@TheRealJGuts) June 8, 2014I really enjoy her music. Shes one of those artists, one of four people, that Ill actually go to the store and buy their record. The four are Avril Lavigne, I really enjoy The Backstreet Boys, I really like Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber. Ill go buy all of their music, the hard copies. Avril is one of those artists I can listen to all of her songs on all of her albums, and I have them all. Her voice is unique and I really enjoy her music.Whats your go-to Avril song?I like all of the albums, they are all different, so the most recent album Avril Lavigne my favorite song by far on that one is Falling Fast. Its a slow song, one of those ballad type songs that I really like when she has those. Going back toGoodbye Lullaby, I really like the song I Love You.When you get a chance to listen to the songs, she has so many great records that every album I appreciate all of them.Shes been getting a lot of flack for the Hello Kitty song, critics have been calling it racially insensitive, what are your thoughts on it?I didnt take it that way [laughs], and ironically Im half Japanese. I didnt take it offensively. One thing I do know about her is that whenever she goes over to Asia and she performs shes over there in front of huge sell out crowds and arenas, I know that shes really appreciative of her fans over there. I dont know how exactly how you would take it, but when I first heard it, it seemed like she was writing it for her fans overseas. Its a catchy song.Whats your go to Bieber song?Oh man, all of them, theres not a bad song on any of the albums. Before games Ill usually pop in All Around The World, As Long as You Love Me or Boyfriend on occasion. Actually, one of my favorite songs hes done is the one hes recorded with Chris Brown. Obviously hes had his struggles outside of music, but in terms of just the music, I definitely think hes come up with some of his best songs on his latest albums. So what about The Backstreet Boys, is that a band you grew up with and its just stuck with you through the years? When The Backstreet Boys had just become popular in the U.S, they were already popular in Europe prior to their arrival here in North America, they had just come out with As Long As You Love Me, right as I was graduating high school in 1997. That song was catchy and they released a few more singles when I was in college and I got to here it a bunch. Than I moved to Spain, and over there I heard a bunch more of their music, and around that time thats when Millenium came out and although I wasnt in the U.S., I heard and saw a lot about them and they released more albums that I enjoyed. I was intrigued by them and watching them be interviewed and talk, they just seemed like a good group of guys.. Charles Harris Dolphins Jersey. .Do you ever take any flack from your teammates regarding your music taste?Oh yeah, all the time [laughs]. I appreciate the fact I can listen to the music I like with my kids and listen in front of anybody and although they may not like it, you cant really be offended by it. Where as a lot of the music my teammates like is music that you wouldnt probably play anywhere outside of a clubhouse or in your headphones because it can get a little bit rough.Whos got the worst music taste on the team? For sure [Royals outfielder] Jarrod Dyson. I cant even listen to their songs, whenever their songs come on I tell them "That was my favorite song, please play it again," and they actually take me seriously and replay it and its like the worst song Ive ever heard. You had some words for Fifty Cent after that pitch, what did you think of it? @50cent Ummm, 50? Clearly that pitching lesson did absolutely NOTHING for you tonight! Time to regroup haha. pic.twitter.com/q5oejhPGEZ — Jeremy Guthrie (@TheRealJGuts) May 28, 2014Well, it was terrible, really bad. You just take for granted that someone can put a ball in their hand, be it a baseball, softball or any type of ball, and that they should be able to throw it somewhat straight. Mechanically, they may look funny, they may have a funny arm motion or whatnot, but it just seems it would be relatively simple or elementary to be able to throw it straight. So to see how that came off of his hand, the trajectory towards the camera man, it was just really funny. It was so bad I was wondering if he was just joking or if he wanted to make it funny, because if it was just to be funny it was really good. If it wasnt than it was pretty bad. What pitching advice would you give him?Practice, you need to practice [laughs]. If thats what you got youve got practice a bit more.If you werent playing baseball what would you be doing?Id like to design shoes. Thats what I always wanted to do. Im not real artistic but Id like to think that if someone else could help me or I could tell them yes or no on what things I like. I always planned on working for Nike, which was kind of my childhood dream. Whether its an actual shoe design or just retail or advertising, its something Im passionate about and I would love to dedicate time and thought towards a job involving sneakers and the growth of a brand I really appreciate. What would a Jeremy Guthrie sneaker look like?Hm.. Im not totally sure. It would probably have patent leather, thats one of my favorite materials that they put on any of the shoes. I just recently learned that Nike has this big book with hundreds and hundreds of different materials that you can put on different shoes, and I never knew that. You get kind of used to seeing the same ones over and over, whether its a safari print, patent leather or flywire which weve seen more recently on shoes. So Im not totally sure what the shoe would look like but Id certainly mix in some of the different materials that youre not accustomed to seeing as often. What would someone be surprised to know about you? They would be surprised to know that in fifth grade I was Oregon State chess champion and that in sixth grade my four-man team competed in the national tournament in Westchester County, New York, where we placed eighth out of more than 300 elementary six grade and younger chess teams.Changing topics a bit, are you a big movie guy?Im relatively diverse, my favorite movie, which will probably make you laugh its kind of like my favorite music its a little bit different, is probably Serendipity with Kate Beckinsale, John Cusak and Jeremy Piven.I love the story of it, I love the humor and I dont mind seeing Kate Beckinsale in the movie either. I also like A Few Good Men, Back to the Future and The Social Network, the latter I was fascinated with the storyline and how they tell it, and I thought it was so well done, Justin Timberlake and the other actors were amazing in it. I really like Iron Man, I dont really care for the sequels, but the first one if probably the best action hero movie in my opinion. What other sports are you a big fan of?I love basketball, I played it growing up and I also love American football. I cheered for the Los Angeles Rams in Football, and the Chicago Bulls in basketball.Jeremy also shared some of his favorite pictures hes taken when hes been in the Toronto area. MONTREAL - The Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings were all over the Canadiens on Friday night, but that didnt matter to Montreal goaltender Carey Price. Ben Smith Blackhawks Jersey .The goalie who backstopped Canada to gold at the 2014 Winter Olympics was at his all-world best as the Canadiens pulled out a 6-2 victory despite being dominated territorially and being outshot 46-20.There was a little bit of (Dominik) Hasek in net today, a little bit of Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur and a little bit of Carey Price, Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban said, listing a few of the all-time greats. The same could not be said of Kings backup goalie Martin Jones, who came into the game with shutouts in his last two matches but allowed three goals on the first eight shots.Subban and David Desharnais each had a goal and an assist while Jiri Sekac, with two, Andre Markov and Sven Andrighetto also scored for Montreal (19-10-2). The Canadiens won a second game in a row, thanks to Price.Hes a great goaltender and he has the ability to make great saves, added Subban. Theres only a few goaltenders in the league that can do that and hes definitely one of them. Its not a surprise to us seeing him do that but to be able to see him do it against one of the best teams in the league, thats what we need.Defencemen Jake Muzzin and Drew Doughty scored for the Kings (15-10-5), who have lost three of their last four but were coming off a 5-3 win Thursday night in Ottawa. They played well enough to win in Montreal. Dustin Brown had eight shots, but didnt have a point and went minus-3. Trevor Lewis fired seven times and Muzzin six.We had a lot of really good chances, said Kings coach Darryl Sutter. We totally dominated the first period. I think Carey Price was really, really good, wasnt he?The Kings, as a team, have been labouring to score this season, with top end players like Anze Kopitar, Marian Gaborik and Brown all well below their usual scoring pace. After a five-goal outburst in Ottawa, The frustration returned in Montreal. We had the puck a lot and we created a lot, but no goals at the end of it, said Muzzin. You need goals to win.I thought we battled back and stuck with it and continued trying to fight and get some more goals. It just wasnt happening.Price had an answer for nearly everything until Muzzin and Doughty broke through in the third period. There was a furry in the second period, it was just desperation, Price said, recalling his busiest moments. There was one in the first on Drew. He got me back in the third.Just playing the odds and getting lucky out there. Just trying to keep it simple, stupid.Price is 16-8-1 and has two shutouts, but could not have had a better game this season. The 46 shots and 44 saves were season highs. We were definitely opportunistic, he said. We capitalized on the few chances we got.Thats a good hockey club over there. They played well. The score doesnt indicate how the game went. Well take the two points, obviously. The Kings owned the puck in the first, outshooting Montreal 14-4. But the Canadiens got the only goal.Doughty had served only four seconds of an interference call when Tomas Plekanec won a draw to the point, and Subbans point shot beat Jones at 8:16 off a deflection in front. Montreal didnt get a shot the rest of the period. The Canadiens had a man advantage to start the second frame and Markov scored on a point shot that was deflected at 1:01. Only 2:44 later, Subban one-timed a drop pass from Dale Weise and saw the puck trickle through Joness pads. Manny Malhotra got his first point in 31 games as a Canadien on the goal.Muzzin scored on the Kings 34th shot at 3:35 of the third when his wrist shot from the point went in off Markovs hand.Desharnais scored his first goal in 13 games since Nov. 15 when he one-timed P.A. Parenteaus pass in on a two-on-one 9:47 into the third.Only 1:01 later, Doughty beat Price cleanly with a shot from the right side.Andrighetto was alone in the right circle to swipe in Michael Bournivals pass at 13:59. The Swiss rookie has one point in each of his first three NHL games. Sekac got another at 15:26 on a bad-angled shot with Jones down.Sometimes quality over quantity is more important, said price. Tonight was one of those instances where they got a lot of so-called stat-padders. But for the most part, I thought we did a good job of picking up the rebounds in front. They didnt get a whole lot of second chances. Notes: Jones shutout streak lasted 154 minutes 17 seconds. . . Jones made 31 saves when the Kings won 6-0 on their last visit to Montreal last December. . . Parenteau went off for repairs late in the first period after being clipped in an eye by Marian Gaboriks stick, but was back to start the second. . . Montreals Brandon Prust got an assist in his 400th NHL game. He has 31 goals, 98 points and 907 penalty minutes. . . . The CFL team confirmed the news on its official Twitter account. According to TSNs Matthew Scianitti, Collaros has not had any setbacks, but has not been cleared for anything other than soft toss without pads. If Collaros progresses well, the team can pull him off sooner, with no penalty. There are unlimited chances to pull a player off without a cap hit unless theyre placed on another six game list. The team would then have to wait until the fifth week to pull a player off without incurring a cap hit. Collaros has been out with head and back injuries after taking a hard hit from Edmonton Eskimos linebackerr Odell Willis in a 28-24 loss on July 4. Martin Havlat Blackhawks Jersey. Collaros was flattened on the play after taking a helmet to the chin area. The league fined Willis for the high hit. Backups Jeremiah Masoli and Dan LeFevour have split time under centre for the 1-3 Tiger-Cats. Collaros, a 25-year-old native of Steubenville, Ohio, was tabbed as the No. 1 quarterback after signing with Hamilton in the off-season. He has completed 23 of 41 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions through two games this season. Collaros spent his first two CFL seasons with the Toronto Argonauts. HOUSTON -- Bill OBrien got a bit antsy as his introductory press conference with the Houston Texans started to drag on and a question was posed about how much he knows about his new team. Montravius Adams Womens Jersey . "Ive got a lot of work to do on this team and the sooner that I can get back to my office and start that work, itll be better," he said straight-faced as the rest of the room erupted in laughter. Less than two years after replacing Joe Paterno as coach at Penn State, the 44-year-old OBrien has returned to the NFL as coach of the Houston Texans. He was an offensive assistant under Bill Belichick at New England from 2007-12, but the Penn State job was his first as a head coach. Now he gets the Texans, who spiraled to an NFL-worst 2-14 record last season. "He showed that he has the ability to step into difficult situations and turn them around," Houston owner Bob McNair said. "He did that at Penn State under very difficult circumstances and did an outstanding job there. We expect to see good things happen immediately." OBrien was 15-9 at Penn State, hit hard by NCAA sanctions levied for the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal that cost the late Paterno his job. He takes over for Gary Kubiak, who was fired with three games left in the Texans dismal season. Despite Houstons collapse, many believe it is a plum position because the Texans have many talented pieces in place and could make a quick turnaround. Houston won consecutive AFC South titles before this years disaster. OBrien said he planned to meet with Houstons assistant coaches on Friday and begin making decisions on who will make up his staff. After his first season at Penn State, OBrien interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cleveland Browns, among others, only to stay in State College. This time the lure of the NFL was too strong to resist. "I do regret not being able to continue with the great kids on that team," OBrien said. "While I tried never to mislead anyone, I understand that some people feel let down. But again, it was a decision that was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me." He said an attractive aspect of this job was Houstons world-class medical centre. OBriens 11-year-old son Jack cant walk or talk because of a rare neurological disorder that also causes seizures. Almost exactly two years ago, OBrien fidgeted with a water bottle while taking questions from reporters at his introductory news conference at Penn State. He said then that he couldnt wait to get going, and he feels that way in Houston, too. The first-time NFL head coach was relaxed and confident throughout most of his first press conference in Houston. He did squirm a little when asked about his lack of ties to Texas in following Houston native Kubiak, and stammered some when asked about his infamous sideline blowout with Tom Brady in New England. He escaped the first question by saying he was going to buy his first pair of cowboy boots after the press conference. As for the second issue -- he downplayed the screaming match that ended with other coaches pulling OBrien away. "These things happen," he said. "There was a camera on it which I feel bad about, but what people dont understand about that was 30 seconds after that was over, we were sitting together looking at the pictures ... that quickly passed." OBrien follows Dom Capers, who led the team from its expansion season in 2002, and Kubiak as the only coaches in Texans history. Like Kubiak, OBrien is known as a quarterback guru, which will be important for a team searching for a solution after veteran Matt Schaub had a terrible season and lost his job to Case Keenum, who also struggled. OBrien has almost exclusively coached offence with a focus on quarterbacks, though he was a defensive end and linebacker while at Brown. "Its a job thats never-ending," he said of coaching quarterbacks. "Its a job that you can always improve if you like coaching quarterbacks and its a lot of fun to do." Houston has the top overall draft pick and could use it on a one of a trio of talented signal-callers who could be available. Louisvilles Teddy Bridgewater, 2012 Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M and Fresno States Derek Carr, younger brother of Houstons first-ever draft pick, David Carr, are the top-rated quarterbacks expected to be in the draft. "If we wound up with a young quarterback, wed probably bring in a veteran so we dont have to depend on that rookie," McNair said. "Thats tough putting a rookie in there and expecting them to be able play right off the bat. Thereve been a couple of them that have done it but a number of them didnt do so well. I think having that veteran presence is important." Houston has had the first pick in the draft two other times, choosing Carr in 2002 and defensive end Mario Williams in 2006. "The defensive player worked out better than the offensive player," McNair said with a laugh. "But that wont lock us into anything. Theres always a possibility. (General manager) Rick (Smith) and the coaches will trade around. Maybe well trade down and still get a quarterback that can do the job and get an outstanding defensive player." Kevin King Jersey .C. MacArthur scored two goals, and the Senators outlasted Detroit in a testy third period to beat the Red Wings 4-2 on Saturday night. http://www.packersauthoritystore.com/Authentic-Montravius-Adams-Packers-Jersey/ . First reported by FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal, its unknown if the impetus for the deferral proposal came from players or management, but it never left the preliminary stages.OAKLAND, Calif. - After sewage backups, toilet overflows and foul smells surfaced the past two years, nothing at the Oakland Coliseum surprises the home team anymore. Eric Sogard drove in two runs and threw out a runner at the plate, Scott Kazmir pitched another gem and the Oakland Athletics stayed focused after a delay caused by a malfunction with the outfield lights to beat the New York Yankees 5-1 on Saturday night. "Thats the Coliseum for ya," Sogard said. "Thats why we love this place. Never know what youre gonna get." The game was stopped for 38 minutes in the middle of the fourth inning because of an outage to the panel of lights above left field. Players from both sides said that the lights never initially turned on. The As said the circuit breaker turned off and had to be manually reset. "Maybe some carry over from Friday the 13th the night before. I dont know," As manager Bob Melvin said. New Yorks four-game winning streak ended because of its own errors. Two passed balls by backup catcher John Ryan Murphy, who was inserted in the lineup after Mark Teixeira was scratched with what he called a spasm in his midback, helped Oakland score twice in the fifth. But the delay surely didnt help Hiroki Kuroda (4-5), who compared the stoppage to a rain delay. He allowed four runs and five hits in 4 2-3 innings. That included a perfect fourth after the delay before he lost his rhythm in the fifth — and so did his catcher. "The fact that I couldnt protect (the lead) was really frustrating," Kuroda said. Kazmir (8-2) allowed one unearned run and three hits in six innings for his third straight win. Dan Otero pitched two perfect innings before Sean Doolittle closed out the Yankees in the ninth. Kazmir stayed warm in the clubhouse during the delay and then threw a simulated inning in the bullpen, which wrapped up just as the lights came back on. "It worked out perfectly," Kazmir said. Brian McCann was switched from catcher to first base after the Yankees took Teiixeira out about 30 minutes before the game. Josh Jones Packers Jersey. Murphy moved into the catchers spot. Sogard walked, advanced to second on Coco Crisps single and moved to third on Murphys first passed ball. Sogard scored on John Jasos groundout, and Crisp came home on Murphys second passed ball to put the As up 4-1. After being held out of Friday nights game to rest his sore right ankle, Sogard came through at the plate and in the field. Sogard lined a two-out, two-run single to centre to give the As a 2-0 lead in the second, and he cut down Kelly Johnson at home after fielding a grounder by Jeter in the fifth. New York scored its only run in the third when shortstop Andy Parrino sailed his throw to first on Derek Jeters grounder. Parrino got the run back when he hit an RBI double in the sixth. But the latest maintenance issue at Oaklands dual-purpose ballpark overshadowed the Kazmirs latest gem and anything else the As did on the field. The aging Coliseum, which is shared with the NFLs Oakland Raiders and is the only stadium in the country still home to teams from both leagues, has had multiple plumbing problems the past two years. The As have been trying for years to move to a new ballpark, including in San Jose, which the San Francisco Giants contend is part of their territory. The As are in the process of negotiating a new lease at the Coliseum, which opened in 1966, though its unclear what — if any — facility upgrades will be included in a potential deal. NOTES: Josh Donaldson was ejected for arguing with plate umpire Hal Gibson at the end of the seventh inning. Donaldson is in an 0-for-31 skid after going hitless in all four plate appearances. ... Yankees CF Jacoby Ellsubury had his 17-game hitting streak snapped after going 0-for-3 with a walk. ... Yankees 2B Brian Roberts (sore right knee) sat out and DH Carlos Beltran had the day off. ... Now what for the New York Jets? Well, they have less than two weeks to solve their big quarterback question before they face Tampa Bay on Sept. 8 in the regular-season opener. "We said from Day 1 that there was no timetable on us announcing a starting quarterback," coach Rex Ryan said Monday. And, theres no rush, of course -- except when you consider that the preseason is nearly over and the Jets still have no clarity on the situation. Smith was given an opportunity to possibly seize the starting job last Saturday against the Giants, but came up with a dismal performance that included three interceptions and taking a safety when he stepped out of the back of the end zone. Sanchez, who appeared in great shape to win the competition, is now recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in garbage time against the Giants -- and could keep him out for the start of the season. It is conceivable, of course, that the Jets could keep everyone -- the media, fans and opponents -- guessing until the Friday before their game against the Buccaneers. "Well probably have our decision before that," Ryan said. "But as we said, were not going to rush the decision until were completely comfortable with that decision. And, well stay with that. "Hey, I dont know what else to say about it." Ryan is probably a bit surprised hes even still talking about the competition at this point. After all, it was deemed an "open competition" that would be decided when one of the quarterbacks had elevated himself above the other. But, it has been so tightly contested that there was no clear opening, an opportunity for most observers to say, "Thats the guy." Until Saturday night. Thats when Smith showed his inexperience in his first NFL start with some jitters, mistakes and missteps through three-plus quarters. "It (was) pretty uneven," Smith said. "I had some ups and downs. Its all a part of the learning curve." Its a curve that could continue through Thursdays game against Philadelphia and into Week 1 against Tampa Bay. Ryan said the Jets havent yet determined whos playing against the Eagles, but Sanchez will certainly not. Many fans and media assumed Sanchez, with a solid camp and preseason performance, had clinched the starting job after Smiths performance. But then, Ryan wanted to see more of Sanchez, who went into the game and had his right shoulder crunched by Marvin Austin after completing a pass with less than 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Sanchez is day to day with the injury, which neither he nor Ryan would detaiil. http://www.baseballyankeesmlb.com/authentic-austin-romine-yankees-jersey/. . Sanchez is staying positive, though, about potentially being ready for the season opener. "Thats the goal," Sanchez said. "Every injury is different. Its all subjective at this point, and Im going to do everything I possibly can. Thats all I can promise." Sanchez refused to speculate about possibly losing the starting job, which he has held since coming into the league in 2009, because of the injury. He also wouldnt go into what type of rehabilitation process he faces. "Emotionally, youre just upset, and thats really where your heads at," he said. "Youre just upset to be hurt. You never want to be hurt. You work too hard to get hurt and its just a bummer. So, you just rebound, rehab your butt off and get back as soon as possible." And, if hes not ready to go against Tampa Bay, the starter could be Smith -- by default. One things for sure: It wont be either Greg McElroy or Matt Simms, who has had an impressive camp while competing for the No. 3 job. Smith has shown some promise this preseason, and come a long way with improving his footwork and picking up Marty Mornhinwegs offence. The Jets claimed they needed much more film on Smith to better evaluate him after he sat out a game with a sprained ankle, and they certainly got it against the Giants. "With Geno, there was the good, the bad and the ugly," Ryan said. The good was the two scoring drives he led in the 24-21 overtime win, including a 22-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. The bad was the interceptions, although Ryan credited Justin Tuck for making a "great play" on one of them. As for the ugly, that was the safety when Smith lost track of his surroundings on the field. Despite all of that, Smith insisted that if the decision came that he would be the Week 1 starter, hed be ready to lead the Jets. "Yes, I am," he said. "Ive been working hard, extremely hard this off-season. Im preparing myself to be a starter Week 1 and if Im given the chance, Ill be prepared for it." Sanchez, meanwhile, wouldnt say whether he thought he had won the starting job before his injury. "I feel like Ive put together a great camp and its been my best camp," he said. "That decision is going to be up to the coaches. So, well see." ---- NOTES: WR Santonio Holmes, taken off the physically unable to perform list last Friday, participated in positional drills as he works his way back from a foot injury suffered in Week 4 last season. ... NASHVILLE -- Shea Weber and a couple of first-timers helped the Predators snap a home skid. ArDarius Stewart Womens Jersey . Weber scored twice and Colton Sissons and Calle Jarnkrok each scored their first NHL goals to lead the Nashville Predators to a 6-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. Colin Wilson and Eric Nystrom also scored for Nashville, winners of three of four. Rasmus Ristolainen scored for Buffalo, which has lost 10 of its last 11 games. The Predators got off to a fast start, scoring four goals in the first, and ended a six-game home losing streak. "Weve talked about that the few games that we have to play better at home," Weber said. "Weve always been a team in the past that takes pride in winning at home and we havent done that lately. We need to change that." Sissons scored the games first goal at 6:26 of the opening period. From the left circle, Rich Clune sent a backhand on net. Buffalos Matt Hackett turned it aside, but Sissons pounced on the rebound at the left of the net and slammed it home for his first career NHL goal. "I cant really describe it," Sissons said. "Im on top of the world right now. Ive been working pretty hard and fortunately got a bounce there to get my first." Wilson struck at 11:44 of the first when he picked up a loose puck in the slot and beat Hackett for his eighth of the season. Just 9 seconds later, Jarnkrok beat Hackett with a snap shot from the slot to record his first career NHL goal. "Jarnkrok was good," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "Thats a goal-scorers goal. Hes very detailed. I love the way he plays. He plays on the right side of the puck every time." Weber completed Nashvilles first period barrage with a one-timer from the top of the right faceoff circle while the Predators had a 5-on-3 advantage. "Guys came out, and they didnt come out to play that first period," Buffalo coach Ted Nolan said. "In order to rebuild and retool, you rebuild and retool with the right people." Hackett was removed following the first period and replaced by Nathan Lieuwen. Ristolainen got Buffalo on the board at 2:06 of the second when he beat Carter Hutton with a slap shot from above the right circle. It was the rookies second career goal. "It was a goal, but a horrible hockey game," Ristolainen said. He was recalled earlier Thursday from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis due to an injury to Tyler Myers. Weber struck again at 6:19 of the first with another slap shot from the top of the right circle. It was the captains 20th goal of the season, the second time in his career that he has reached that mark. NOTES: Wilsons goal was his first since Dec. 30, a stretch of 33 games . The No. 1 team in the country was put the test yet again Saturday but held off rival Florida, 24-19, to complete a second straight undefeated regular season. Florida State (12-0) won its 28th straight game in spite of reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston, who threw four interceptions -- three in the first quarter alone -- and completed just 12-of-24 passes for 125 yards. Winston did toss a pair of touchdown passes to Nick OLeary, while Dalvin Cook gained 144 yards on 24 carries for the defending champion Seminoles, whose last three wins have come by a combined 12 points. A matchup against Georgia Tech in the ACC title game next week is the final hurdle in FSUs quest for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Florida (6-5) missed two potential go-ahead field goals in the second half and had the ball at midfield in the waning minutes. Treon Harris went 0-for-6 through the air on the final drive and finished 13- of-32 for 169 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, one of which was returned 94 yards for a TD by Terrance Smith. Despite being bowl eligible, this was the final game on the Gators sideline for head coach Will Muschamp, who announced two weeks ago he will step down. Roberto Aguayos 37-yard field goal staked the Seminoles to a 24-19 lead with 3:23 remaining, and a pass interference call on fourth down gave the Gators life at midfield with just over two minutes to play. Harris, though, threw three straight incomplete passes, and Demarcus Robinson dropped a fourth-down throw behind him to essentially seal the outcome. Winston beccame the first FBS quarterback to throw three interceptions in the first quarter this season, but the Seminoles defense minimized the damage. Marcus Maye Jets Jersey. . Floridas first two picks led to field goals of 52 and 39 yards from Austin Hardin, and Brandon Powells 42-yard reception set up Hardins 43-yarder with 2:15 remaining in the opening quarter. Brian Poole stepped in front of a Winston pass on the ensuing series, and the Gators took over at the FSU 9-yard line, primed to build on their 9-0 lead. Harris pass, however, went through the arms of tight end Tevin Westbrook, and Smith made a key interception that he took back 94 yards for a score. OLeary caught touchdown passes of 10 and six yards in the second quarter to give FSU a 21-9 lead, but an errant punt set Florida up are the FSU 15-yard line just before the break. Clay Burton caught a touchdown pass on the next play to make it a 21-16 game at halftime, and Hardin made another kick, this time from 32 yards out, less than five minutes into the third quarter. FSUs first three second-half possessions ended in a punt, interception and turnover on downs, respectively, but a pair of misses from Hardin -- from 52 and 42 yards out -- kept the Seminoles in front. Game Notes Winston became the first quarterback to win his first 25 starts since Oklahomas Jimmy Harris in 1954-56 ... The Gators went 28-21 in four seasons under Muschamp ... Florida is the last team to take down the Seminoles, doing so back on Nov. 24, 2012 ... Florida still leads the all-time series, 34-23-2 ... FSU starting tailback Karlos Williams sustained a big hit early in the third quarter and did not return. TALLADEGA, Ala. Authentic Capitals Hoodie . -- Most of Elliott Sadlers memories of Talladega Superspeedway are unpleasant. They either involve a horrific 2003 crash in which his car flipped several times and slid forever through the grass on its roof, or many different ways hed come up empty racing for a win. Finally, he has a victory that tops all those other disappointments. "I have such a love-hate relationship with this race track. We always run good here, but I always doggone flip or wreck or hit hard or something," Sadler said in Victory Lane. "Every autograph session, everywhere I go, everybody always reminds me of the flip I had down the backstraighaway here. Now maybe they can ask me about winning here." Sadler won a three-lap shootout to the checkered flag in the Nationwide Series race. The race Saturday was stopped for a little more than nine minutes to clean the track following a six-car accident that began when Jeremy Clement was turning into an outside wall and his car shot back into traffic. Sadler reflected on many of his previous races during the stoppage. "Under the red flag, I was playing all these scenarios in my head," Sadler said. "Really, how many races Ive lost in the last couple laps not making the right decisions." There were three laps remaining on the restart, and Sadler had to throw several blocks to hold off a charge from the pack of traffic behind him. It was the 10th Nationwide Series victory of Sadlers career, first at Talladega, and first win since 2012. "We just stayed to the bottom and stuck to our guns," Sadler said of his strategy. "We made the right blocks at the right time." "I was disappointed last year we werent able to do it. It means a lot to me to get the JGR team to Victory Lane -- they work their butts off and we werent able to reward them." After going winless last season, his first with Joe Gibbs Racing, finally grabbing a victory was a heavy relief for Sadler. He left Richard Childress Racing to join JGR in an attempt to race for the Nationwide title. Instead, after winning four races in 2012 and finishing second that year in the standings, Sadler had just nine top-10 finishes and was a distant fourth in the title race. "When you come to a new place and you are running for such a respectable man and owner, and you are not able to give back to them, and not go to Victory Lane and not able to run for the championship as strong as you want to, man, it weighed on me heavy," Sadler said. "To be able to go to Victory Lane, and (Gibbs) call me on the phone, was amazing to me. That was a feeling that is really hard to put into words, but it feels good." Chris Buescher finished second and Regan Smith, winner of last years race, was third. Sadlers win ended a three-race winning streak for JR Motorsports, which picked up victories from Chase Elliott at Texas and Darlington and Kevin Harvick last week at Richmond. "We couldnt keep the JR Motorsports winning streak alive, but theres a lot of races left," Smith said. Elliott, who finished 19th, maintained his lead as the Nationwide points leader. But Sadlers victory pulled him to just one point behind Elliott. David Ragan finished fourth and was followed by Sam Hornish Jr., making his first race since losing the Nationwide title by three points last season. Hornish has a seven-race deal with JGR and made his debut by winning the pole in Friday qualifying. Joe Nemechek was sixth and followed by J.J. Seven strokes behind leader Canada entering the day, Australia took the lead through six holes and finished at 29-under 547 for a two-stroke victory. Shelly Shin had a 74 for Australia, with only the top two scores each day counting in the team total. "They never thought they were out of it, but they were close to possibly being out of it," Australian captain Matt Cutler said. "It was the fastest start you could ever see coming." Lee and Oh were 7 under on the first six holes to give Australia the lead. Lee had an eagle and two birdies during the run, and Oh had three birdies. "I wanted to make this something to remember," Lee said. "I wanted this to be a priceless experience for everyone." The 18-year-old Lee turned professional Monday and will play the Evian Championship next week in France. She was No. 1 in the world amateur ranking. Australias 72-hole total of 547 was a stroke off South Koreas 2010 record and the final-round 131 was the second-best in tournament history. The top teams finished on Karuizawa 72 Golf Easts Iriyama Course. The 18-year-old Lee, No. 1 in the world amateur ranking, shot a 64 on Friday on the Oshitate Course to give Australia a chance to win the Espirito Santo Trophy for the third time. The seven-shot comeback broke the tournament record of three set by Australia in 2002 in Malaysia. Australia also won the biennial event in 1978. "We talked last night thhat if you broke it down as an individual and you were three or four strokes down through 54 holes, you could give yourself a chance," Cutler said. http://www.hockeycapitalsnhl.com/authentic-braden-holtby-capitals-jersey/. "We were seven down, so thats how we approached it." Canada was second at 27 under, with 16-year-old Brooke Henderson winning the individual title at 19-under 269. Lee was second, three strokes back. "Australia had a great round today. I was really impressed," Henderson said. "They have very skilled players, including two in the top 10 in the world rankings, which is unbelievable. Its a little disappointing to finish second, but overall we had a really great week and played really well as a team." Henderson closed with a 68 to break the individual record of 274 set by Lydia Ko in 2012. Ranked second in the world, Henderson was the low amateur at the U.S. Womens Open and the U.S. Womens Amateur runner-up. Brittany Marchand added a 72 for Canada, and Augusta James had a 75. South Korea, the 2010 and 2012 winner, was third at 26 under, and Denmark was fourth at 20 under. The United States tied for fifth at 19 under. Allison Lee shot 68, U.S. Womens Amateur champion Kristen Gillman 71, and Emma Talley 74. "Alison was hitting the ball as well as she had any other day, maybe even better, but she just couldnt buy a putt," U.S. captain Martha Lang said. "Kristen was 3 under before she made three straight bogeys, but she hung in there. And today, unfortunately, Emma never got it going. Overall, we are pleased and disappointed at the same time." The 2016 tournament will be play in Cancun, Mexico. Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

Should two-time defending champion London wrap up its first round series on Thursday night, Stolarz could miss the entire second round of playoffs. In the first period of Londons incident-filled 10-2 victory in Game 3 on Tuesday night, Ho-Sang jabbed his stick at the goaltender after a play at the net. As the Spitfires star skated away, Stolarz took a one-handed swing with his stick and hit Ho-Sung on the back of the head. The Knights said the suspension was for a "stick infraction." Stolarz, a 2012 second round puck of the Philadelphia Flyers, was given a surprisingly lenient minor penalty for high-sticking. "I apologize for my actions on Tuesday night," Stolarz said Wednesday in a statement. "Its an unfortunate situation and in no way did I intend to injure my opponent, Joshua Ho-Sang. Ronaldo netted his 14th goal of the season in Europes top competition to give Madrid a clear advantage ahead of next weeks quarterfinal return leg in Germany. But it came at a price as the Portugal forward, who came into the first-leg nursing a sore left knee, came off in the 80th minute. We are told the table never lies. It is a cliché dragged out by fans and pundits regularly when discussions take place around which teams are better than others. However, the only lies being told are coming from the ones who deliver the cliché. We have have been told Manchester City are a poor away side. A quick glance of their record heading into Wednesdays match at West Brom (1 win, 1 draw and 4 losses) would suggest this but once again the league table was lying. To judge teams, at this stage of the season, solely on their results misses so many factors that go into ensuring teams sustain success in the long-term. During 90 minutes of football things happen that can have a direct effect on the result at the end of the game. It is too simplistic to say the team that won played well and the team that lost didnt and there is no better example of that this season than with Manchester City away from home. Before Wednesday at West Brom headlines, splashed across England previewing the match, called City away from home everything from rubbish to poor. It is, of course, not ideal to lose four games this season early in the season. In fact, the last team to lose four of their first eleven games (which City did) and win the title in the top flight of England was City themselves back in 1968. However, for the majority of their away matches this season City have been far from poor. On the contrary, City, in large parts of away matches, have looked like the attacking, entertaining team many dreamed they could sustain under Roberto Mancini. Two years ago under the Italian, City sprinted out of the blocks, scoring an incredible 23 goals in their first six away matches in the Premier League. Six goals at Manchester United and five at Tottenham sent messages that this team was the clear favourite to win the Premier League. Then the league started to work them out. Teams sat deeper and City couldnt adjust. They went on to win the league title, in the most dramatic ways through a late Sergio Aguero goal on the final day, but it was their atrocious away form that almost cost them. A look at their championship winning final league table shows City scored 38 goals and won 10 games away from home that season. What it fails to tell you is that half of their wins, and 23 of their 38 goals, came in those first six away matches. Ten goals, including 8 against Norwich and Wolves, and three wins also came in their last three matches, in late April and May. In the 10 away games in between, from the end of November to the middle of April, City scored just five goals (2 from open play), won 2, drew 3 and lost 5. It was a run that was far worse than the way they started this season but it didnt get the attention it deserved because the league table told a story that included Citys breathtaking start. When rivals United collapsed and handed City the title, Mancinis constant tactical changes, and failures to get his team to create as a unit away from home, was forgotten. It would play a massive part in their failure the following season, however. When City failed to win for the 7th time in their first 10 away games last season last year, on Boxing Day at Sunderland, their attempts at regaining the championship were already over. Wins later in 2013, at Arsenal and Manchester United, teams who didnt sit deep and took the game to City, werent surprising, but neither were there abysmal performances in losses at Southampton and Everton. When Mancini was replaced by Manuel Pellegrini many felt the Chilean had been hired to help turn around Citys woeful Champions League efforts under Mancini. That is certainly true, but also Pellegrini is expected to get more out of his team as an attacking unit, particularly away from home. There is no denying Citys brilliance at home and many teams will be on the wrong end of some serious hammerings this season, just as Norwich and Tottenham already have encountered. In those victories, City have shown they can score goals from quick transitions and counter-attacks, something that is sure to translate to successful away performances also. In fact, for large parts of their four away losses, City have been very impressive in attack, getting their full-backs forward and showing some useful combination play between their forwards. Their loss at Cardiff came from poor defending and goalkeeping on two corners. City were not at their best that day but did enough to win the match. Their loss at Aston Villa came from a fantastic individual free kick by Leandro Bacuna and some terrible defending and goalkeeping on a long clearance by Brad Guzan. City were absolutely magnificent that day and played far better than their past two visits to Villa Park, under Mancini, when they won 1-0 each time thanks to a goal from a set-piece (header by Joleon Lescott) and a mistimed poor back pass by Ciaran Clark (finished off by Carlos Tevez). Cameron Sutton Steelers Jersey. Their loss at Chelsea came from poor defending, and, in particular, goalkeeping (there is a theme here) when Joe Hart rushed out and allowed Fernando Torres to put the ball in the back of the net in the final minute. Having gone a goal down, City were the best side in the second half, after Sergio Agueros equalizer, showing they can be equally dangerous when the Argentine plays as a lone striker with a strong midfield 3 behind him. City caused Chelsea much more of a threat than they did in their past two visits to Stamford Bridge when they were lifeless in each of those second halves. Like at Villa, it was yet more evidence, that City had improved away from home, blinded by the games result. Their loss at Sunderland was their worst of the season, highlighting the key area Pellegrini has to get right. Once again they were a real threat going forward but a second-string back four featuring Micah Richards, Martin Demichilis, Joleon Lescott, Aleksandar Kolarov let themselves down on the Phil Bardsley goal and this time their attackers could not bail them out. Citys defending, at times, away from home has clearly not been good enough but Pellegrini will know this is much less of a concern than if his attacking unit was not playing well. Scoring goals is the hardest thing to do in the game and if that is not working (as we saw under Mancini) it can lead to much bigger problems. Making a team organized and better defensively, particularly with the players at his disposal (this is no Newcastle of the mid 90s), is a much less difficult job for the Chilean. "I worry about the away form," Pellegrini conceded after the Sunderland loss, but he knew the way the team is playing in an open 4-4-2 style has to stay despite the results, saying: "Weve had a lot of chances and played really well in (away) matches, I am absolutely sure we are playing the right way and know the wins will come." That attitude took the manager and his City side to the Hawthorns for a date with West Brom on Wednesday evening. City welcomed back captain Vincent Kompany at the heart of their defence and kept their 4-4-2 shape with Edin Dzeko replacing Alvaro Negredo alongside Aguero. Pellegrini had predicted the wins and performance would come and his players didnt let him down, Citys first half display will rank as one of the finest halves a team will play all season. After 24 minutes, they led 2-0 and were so dominant it should have been up by more. The first involved 14 passes, over 46 seconds, that saw the ball move to the right and to the overlapping right back Pablo Zabaleta whose cross was smashed home by Aguero. It was a sensational team goal but fifteen minutes their second one was even better, coming from 15 passes, in which the home side didnt touch the ball for 53 seconds, finishing with the left back, Kolarov, this time getting forward to cross for Yaya Toure to power home. It was a dream half of football for Pellegrini. Jesus Navas and Samir Nasri were outstanding in their movement and combination play while Aguero was just as lethal with Dzeko as it has been with Negredo this season. At the back, Kompany was a rock with key blocks denying West Brom of any real scoring threats. City were that dominant they made more successful passes in the first half than they attempted in the recent win over Swansea at home. This, as regular viewers to their away games would attest to, this was not a team who have played poorly away from home. In the second half City stepped down a few gears but still sent West Brom fans home early when they converted a third, from the spot, again created by a run by full back Kolarov down the left. "You should have gone Christmas shopping," chanted City fans to the home supporters as they dragged themselves out of their seats. Not only had they watched a superb away performance, they had also failed to see their team put a shot on goal or attempt a shot inside the penalty box for the first 81 mins. It was the perfect all-around performance for City until West Brom scored two late goals with Toure, Nasri and Aguero all resting on the bench. In many ways it was fitting that those who will judge the game solely on the scoreline will once again miss the point. City look very much like the formidable away team they need to be to contend for the title. Just dont let the scoreline or the league table tell you otherwise. A $40 million settlement has been completed that will pay college football and basketball players dating to 2003 for the use of their likenesses in NCAA-branded videogames. Cordrea Tankersley Jersey . The payouts could go to more than 100,000 athletes, including some current players, who were either on college rosters or had their images used in videogames made by Electronic Arts featuring college teams. Lawyers for the plaintiffs say it would be the first time college athletes will be paid for the commercial use of their images. Depending on how many athletes apply for the settlement, the payments could range from as little as $48 for each year an athlete was on a roster to $951 for each year the image of an athlete was used in a videogame. "Were incredibly pleased with the results of this settlement and the opportunity to right a huge wrong enacted by the NCAA and EA against these players and their rights of publicity," said Steve Berman, one of the lead attorneys in the case. "Weve fought against intense legal hurdles since filing this case in 2009 and to see this case come to fruition is a certain victory." The settlement is with Electronic Arts and Collegiate Licensing Co., which licenses and markets college sports, and does not include the NCAA. The case against the NCAA is scheduled for trial early next year. Plaintiffs in the case, which dates to 2009, contend the NCAA conspired with Electronic Arts and Collegiate Licensing Co. to illegally use their images in videogames. U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken still must approve the proposed settlement, which comes on the eve of a major antitrust trial against the NCAA that could reshape the way college sports operate. That case, featuring former UCLA basketball star Ed OBannon and others as lead plaintiffs, goes to trial June 9 in Oakland, California. According to documents filed with the court late Friday, attorneys for OBannon and 20 other plaintiffs say they have already run up legal fees exceeding $30 million and expenses of more than $4 million in pressing their case. They are seeking an injunction that would stop the NCAA from enforcing rules that prohibit athletes from profiting from their play in college. OBannon, who led UCLA to a national title in 1995, is also part of the group settling with EA Sports and Collegiate Licensing Co. Also covered by the settlement are suits brought by former Arizona State quarterback Sam Keller, former West Virginia football player Shawne Alston and former Rutgers player Ryan Hart. According to the filing, a pool of money will be available to players after attorneys take 33 per cent of the proposed settlement and up to $2.5 million in expenses. Named plaintiffs like OBannon and Keller will receive $15,000, while others who joined the suit later would get $2,500 or $5,000. The majority of the money, however, will go to athletes who file for claims, a group that attorneys say could contain between 140,000 and 200,000 players who were on football and basketball rosters from 2003 on. The final payouts will depend on how many of those athletes file claims in the class-action case. EA Sports announced last year it would stop making the long-running NCAA football videogame series because of the litigation and other issues in securing licensing rights. He confirmed he wouldnt be able to play on Friday night either. But Bautista is progressing. “Better,” he said. “That is the best way I can describe it. It feels better than when it happened, better than the day after. So theres been a lot of progress. But Im obviously not ready to play, not today.” The first tests of Bautistas hamstring were passed on Monday and Tuesday. “Just to make sure I didnt need to go on the DL,” he said. The next test will be conducted on Saturday morning, hours before the third game of this four-game series. Bautista will run a series of sprints and, if his leg holds up, hell be available to at least pinch hit on the weekend. The Jays havent faced a left-handed starting pitcher since the Cardinals Jaime Garcia on June 8, a span of 17 games. Chicago will send three left-handers to the mound from Friday to Sunday, including most difficult challenges on Saturday (ace Chris Sale: 6-1, 2.27 ERA) and Sunday (Jose Quintana: 4-7, 3.69 ERA). Bautistas right-handed power bat would be especially welcomed. He admitted it can be difficult to remain patient as the hamstring heals. “Its tough because I dont want to handcuff the team by not being available,” said Bautista. “But at the same time I dont think I need the extra week to come back and, after two weeks, you normally would have to get some at-bats somewhere. I just dont want to go through that process because I dont feel like I need it.” In 77 games this season, Bautista is hitting .305/.433/.526 with 15 home runs and 59 walks to 48 strikeouts. He is baseballs leader in on-base percentage (.433) and bases-on-balls. Defensively, Bautistas eight outfield assists place him in a three-way tie for second. BAUTISTA CALLS FOR SUPPORT FOR ENCARNACION Edwin Encarnacion entered Thursdays action with 24 home runs, making him the major league co-leader with Baltimores Nelson Cruz. He is listed as a designated hitter on the All-Star fan voting ballot and currently sits fourth at the posittion behind Cruz, Bostons David Ortiz and Victor Martinez of the Tigers. Cordrea Tankersley Womens Jersey. Jose Bautista isnt happy about it. If the fans dont put Encarnacion into the game, Bautista expects the American League manager will. That man: former Jays skipper John Farrell. “How could you not pick the guy who is leading the league in home runs and RBIs?” asked Bautista. “Im surprised still that the fans havent come out and supported him better and hes not leading the votes for his position, but you cant control that as much as you can control a manager picking a player.” Encarnacion captured the imagination of Toronto fans and baseball in general with his 16-home run May. “I think, either way he should make the team,” said Bautista. “It would be a huge disappointment and let-down to all fans if you dont have a guy like Edwin dressed up for that game. No matter if its the other players or the manager picking him.” Bautista is the captain of the American League team for the annual Home Run Derby, which is held the night before the All-Star Game. Players who take part in the derby dont have to be participants in the game. However, Encarnacion has already told Bautista he wants no part of the derby. Bautista is actively recruiting potential derby-mates. He plans to speak to Chicagos rookie slugger, Jose Abreu (23 home runs) at some point this weekend. “I dont want to pick guys that dont want to do it and I dont want to force guys into doing it if they dont really feel like it, if theyre uncomfortable or they have some health issues,” said Bautista. “I want to win this, so Im not going to pick anybody who is going to be reserved in any way when they go and pick up a bat.” TOLLESONS VISION IMPROVING Steve Tolleson replaced Juan Francisco at third base in the seventh inning of Thursdays game against the White Sox, his first action on the homestand. He began suffering from dryness of the eyes and blurred vision on the last road trip. Tolleson made a Thursday visit to a cornea specialist, his fourth trip to an eye doctor in as many days, and came away with the diagnosis of an allergic reaction to contact lenses. ARLINGTON, Texas -- Yu Darvish returned to his dominant form. Chandler Parsons Jersey . The star pitcher allowed just four hits over eight sharp innings and the Texas Rangers beat Minnesota 5-0 on Saturday, handing the Twins their fifth straight loss. Darvish (8-4) allowed only one hit and one walk after the second inning in lowering his earned run average to 2.42 following two consecutive defeats and his home ERA to 1.83. With 10 strikeouts, he hit double digits for the fifth in his last eight starts. Adrian Beltre had three hits for the Rangers and scored Texas first run, which proved to be all the Rangers needed, in the second inning. Shin-Soo Chin and Leonys Martin added two hits each. "I thought he was Yu Darvish again," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "I dont care how good you are. There will be bumps in the road. There will be times when things dont go right. And that even can happen for Yu Darvish. It was good for him to go out there today and find his pitches that worked." Darvish, though, said he was unable to find a comfortable delivery throughout the game. "I just couldnt find the right one today," he said through an interpreter, "but I managed to pitch those eight innings. I cant say I was disappointed." No matter the delivery, Darvish frustrated the Twins with a cut fastball that was particularly effective against lefties. "Id say (Darvishs cutter) is probably his best pitch," said Twins DH Joe Mauer, whose first-inning single extended his hitting streak to a season-high nine games. "He can definitely make the ball move in a lot of different directions." Phil Hughes (8-4) lost for only the second time in eight road starts this season, allowing all five runs on 11 hits in 7 2-3 innings. "Its not been going our way as of late," Twins leftfielder Chris Parmelee said, "but our hitting will come around." Neal Cotts finished for Texas in a non-save situation and retired the side in order. The Rangers have won the first two of the three-game weekend series with the Twins following a season-long eight-game losing streak. The shutout was Texas 14 of the season, tops in the American League and one short of the St. Louis Cardinals major league leading total. Beltre scored on a double by Chris Gimenez on a fly to straight-away centre that sailed just beyond the reach of Sam Fuld. The Rangers added a second run in the third inning when Rougned Odor singled, stole second, advanced on an infield out and scored on a dribbler back to the mound by Elvis Andrus. The Rangers added three insurance runs in the eighth, one on a squeeze bunt by rookie Luis Sardinas. They chased Hughes, who went into the game with a 1.52 ERA in five previous career appearances at Globe Life Park. Darvishs strong outing followed a quality start by Nick Tepesch on Friday night to give Texas consecutive quality starts for the first time since June 14-15. The Twins put runners at second and third in the second inning on singles by Oswaldo Arcia and Parmelee. No. 9 batter Pedro Florimon, hitless in his previous 18 at-bats, flied out to centre with two away to end what proved to be Minnesotas only threat of the game. Bozak and Clarkson suffered the injuries in pre-training camp workouts, according to Carlyle, who said they made "small amounts of improvement" from Friday to Saturday. After the players were deemed less than 100 per cent by doctors after Thursdays medical testing, the Leafs held them out of on-ice testing and are being cautious. MIAMI -- Jake Arrieta made it look easy, then made it sound easy. The Chicago Cubs right-hander had a career-high 11 strikeouts in seven innings to beat the Miami Marlins 6-1 on Wednesday. Arrieta (3-1) lowered his ERA to 1.98, and he has 55 strikeouts in 50 innings. "Im not doing anything different," he said. "Im just commanding everything down in the strike zone and trying to force early contact. Strikeouts are just a byproduct of throwing several plus pitches for strikes." Arrieta has become one of the few bright spots for the last-place Cubs, although they have been playing better lately. By taking the rubber game of the three-game set, they won consecutive road series for the first time since June 2013. Chicago went 5-5 on a three-city swing. "We had a nice trip," manager Rick Renteria said. "Thats big. Were playing some consistent baseball." Miamis Giancarlo Stanton hit his NL-leading 20th homer in the first but left the game after six innings with a bruised left wrist. Stanton said the injury wasnt serious, and he expected to be back in the lineup Thursday against the New York Mets. But his wrist was swollen and bothered him more as the game progressed. "It was getting tighter and tighter," he said. "On swings and misses, it hurts a lot." Stanton hasnt missed a game this season, and he leads the NL in homers and RBIs with 57. Thats why manager Mike Redmond took no chances with the injury. "We need this guy for the long haul," Redmond said. "He wanted to stay in, but Im thinking about tomorrow and the next day." Stanton was hurt when he hit the wall in the first inning chasing a flyball. Nate Schierholtz hit a three-run homer for the Cubs. Starlin Castro had two RBI doubles and single batting cleanup. "I like batting fourth because there are usually runners on base," Castro said. "I just like that they put me in a spot and leave me there. If they keep moving me around, it breaks my concentration." Arrieta allowed five hits and one walk. He also doubled for his first career extra-base hit, but Renteria was more impressed with his pitching. Zach Randolph Grizzlies Jersey. Arrieta has 27 strikeouts in 20 innings over his past three starts. "I think he is commanding his fastball better, and his breaking ball is starting to get some bite and location," Renteria said. "Hes got great stuff, and hes very composed." The Marlins agreed. "He was using his cutter in good spots and staying on the corners," Stanton said. "He did a good job." Schierholtz was in a 3-for-26 slump before he hit his third homer off Nathan Eovaldi (4-3) in the Cubs four-run sixth. Eovaldi, back from paternity leave after joining his wife in Texas for the birth of their first child Monday, declined to blame any distractions for his performance. "Youve got to be able to come back and perform," he said. "If anything, I was excited to get back to the guys and play." The Philadelphia Flyers returned to the playoffs, for the 17th time in the past 19 seasons, where they were eliminated in seven games by the New York Rangers. Chris Kunitz Jersey . Off-Season Game Plan looks at a Flyers team that has challenges going forward, as they try to fit under the salary cap and try to maintain their hold on a playoff spot. New GM Ron Hextall has lots of talent on hand, but has issues to face too. For one thing, they ranked 23rd in puck possession last season and its not easy to sustain success when the other team has the puck so frequently. Perhaps the biggest issue to handle this summer will be what to do with Vincent Lecavalier, last summers big free agent acquisition who fell flat after joining the Flyers. A buyout would be awfully expensive, so maybe the Flyers could find team willing to take on Lecavaliers contract while Philadelphia pays some of the salary. The Flyers have enough skilled players, and young, developing forwards, that they should still be decent on the attack. Then, there is the defence, where they are faced with the prospect of losing their best defenceman, Kimmo Timonen, to retirement, and are paying a lot of money to guys who arent pusing the puck in the right direction when they are on the ice. It might be easier to convince Timonen to play another season, to buy some time, rather than overhauling a defence corps that needs improvement. Even once the lineup is sorted, Hextall looks at a goaltending situation which remains a question mark. Steve Mason is coming off a good year, his best since his rookie year of 2008-2009, but what happens if Mason regresses towards his previous norm? Hextall appears to be taking the long view to his new job. "I like young players and I like draft picks," Hextall told CSN Philly. "My vision is to build this team and to continue to make this team better through the draft. That doesnt mean we wont make trades. At some point if its a good enough player, and weve got to trade a young player, we may look at that. But its not a vision of mine to trade young players for older players." With all of the decisions that Hextall gets to make as a first-time GM, he has a team that will expect to make the postseason again next year, yett hes walking a fine line, fine enough that a few wrong decisions or even a couple of bad breaks could be enough to cost them. Of course, the flip side is that the Flyers are close enough that a few sharp decisions and a few good breaks could put them right back in the playoff mix again next season. The TSN.ca Rating is an efficiency rating based on per-game statistics including goals and assists -- weighted for strength (ie. power play, even, shorthanded) -- Corsi, adjusted for zone starts, quality of competition and quality of teammates, hits, blocked shots, penalty differential and faceoffs. Generally, a replacement-level player is around a 60, a top six forward and top four defenceman will be around 70, stars will be over 80 and MVP candidates could go over 90. Hes one of the premier power play point producers in the league and no one has scored more total points in the past four seasons. Jakub Voracek has emerged as a real offensive threat, a solid complement to Giroux on Philadelphias top line. Over the past two seasons, Voracek ranks 23rd with 108 points and hes a skilled, big winger that can be difficult to remove from the puck. Voracek, 24, also happens to be hitting his prime. Coming off a career year, Wayne Simmonds had career-highs in goals (29), assists (31) and points (60), while playing a career-high 16:46 per game. Hes missed nine games, total, in six NHL seasons and only two players (Alex Ovechkin, James Neal) have more than Simmonds 32 power play goals over the past three seasons. Hes not an ideal possession player, but contributes plenty otherwise. A solid two-way player who plays tough minutes, against quality opposition with more defensive zone starts, Matt Read has also scored 57 goals in three seasons and played a career-high 18:48 last season. Hes valuable because he can play a variety of different roles and ranked third among Philadelphia forwards in ice time per game. Read frequently rides shotgun with Sean Couturier, the 21-year-old who plays a shutdown role. He scored a career-high 39 points last season, but only three of those points came on the power play, so there is potential for more offensive production if he is given the opportunity. He had 96 points in each of his last two junior seasons and scored 28 points in 31 AHL games as a 20-year-old, so the pedigree is there for Couturier to take on a bigger role offensively, if he gets the chance. Vincent Lecavaliers game went off a cliff last season. He had poor possession numbers, despite offensive zone starts and relatively easy quality of opposition; 37 points in 69 games was his lowest points per game since 2001-2002 and he ended up playing 15:11 per game, his lowest time on ice since his rookie year, 1998-1999. Hes still under contract for four more seasons which is more than a little problematic for a 34-year-old coming off a bad year. Austrian winger Michael Raffl made a surprising jump to the NHL, almost directly from Leksands in Swedens second tier, and while his production was modest, he had respectable possession stats, which makes him a reasonable option as a depth forward. Hes 25 and may not have enough offensive upside to fit higher on the depth chart. Hes a physical presence on the fourth line, but Zac Rinaldo gets buried in possession terms, and has seven goals and 470 penalty minutes in 165 career games. Among those lucky few who play enough to register at least 400 penalty minutes over the past three seasons, Rinaldos production is on the low end. Jay Rosehill has fought 14 times in 45 games over the past two seasons, so hes a heavyweight face-puncher, if thats required. Hes also put up eight points in 117 career games and has been overmatched when it comes to puck possession, which is why he ends up as a part-time player. Progress has been gradual for Brayden Schenn, who did set career-highs with 20 goals and 41 points last season, but he also had poor possession stats despite facing relatively easy competition. It may be fair to wonder whether Schenn and Couturier are blossoming as effectively as possible, as they both compete for playing time down the middle behind Giroux. As the Flyers look to improve long-term, yet also under some financial constraints, they could look to free agent wingers like Mason Raymond, Benoit Pouliot or Radim Vrbata as possibilities to fit in a scoring role without necessarily breaking the bank. Streit may not be driving play, but the Flyers can do worse than getting respectable possession numbers to go along with his offensive production. Its difficult to imagine what the Flyers saw from Andrew MacDonald in 19 games to warrant a six-year, $30-million contract extension, because MacDonald has been a puck possession nightmare, whose with-or-without-you stats show that nearly everyone fares better without him. There has been some evidence that his neutral zone defence is an issue, and that would have to improve in order to give MacDonalds new contract some value. Braydon Coburn hasnt materialized offensively the way that might have been expected after a 36-point season in 2007-2008 but, as a big guy who can skate and move the puck, hes been able to hold his own in a shutdown role. The question going forward may be just how effective Coburn could be if Kimmo Timonen doesnt return. Its pretty clear that, over time, Coburn has been better with Timonen. Stay-at-home defender Nicklas Grossman scored a career-high 14 points last season and that indicates certain limitations to his game, the same that are inherent to many stay-at-home defensive defencemen. Grossman gets eaten alive in relative possession terms, yet he played more last season (1491 minutes) than he had in any previous season. This is the disconnect that comes between old-school coaching and analytics that emphasize positive shot differentials. After a decent showing in his first (lockout-shortened) season in Philly, Luke Schenns game regressed dramatically. In six NHL seasons, Schenn has alternated between having seasons with at least 21 minutes of ice time per game seasons in which hes played fewer than 17 minutes per game. Last season saw him play 16:32 per game and his per-game scoring rate (0.15 points per game) was the lowest of his career. Even with that reduced ice time, Schenn ranked third among defencemen with 260 hits last season, which means he didnt have the puck that much, but the Flyers may need Schenn to handle a bigger role again in the future. There are some holes on the Philadelphia defence. Maybe it was part of the reason that they were so quick to sign MacDonald to an extension. A mobile, undersized defenceman, Erik Gustafsson couldnt earn a regular spot on the Flyers blueline and made the decision to sign in the KHL for next season. Chris Pronger, while on the payroll, hasnt played since November 19, 2012 and isnt going to play again. 39-year-old Kimmo Timonen could be on his way to retirement, but it wouldnt be a surprise to see the Flyers or another team try to convince him to keep playing. Timonen has been a stalwart on the Flyers blueline, putting up strong possession numbers while facing top-tier opposition. If he really is going to leave, that would create a significant hole. Philadelphia could use a quality addition on defence even if Timonen returns, so if Timonen leaves, might as well make it two. Free agents Sami Salo, Anton Stralman or Raphael Diaz might help and taking a shot at top AHL defenceman T.J. Brennan (from nearby Willingboro, NJ) might improve the Flyers ability to move the puck from the back end. In four-plus seasons with Columbus, Mason had a .903 save percentage, and was one of the worst starting goaltenders in the league over that time. But, in 68 games with the Flyers, Mason has a .920 save percentage. His real value may be some point in between, but having a point in between counts as progress. Should the Flyers lose Ray Emery to free agency, they will need to find a suitable backup for Mason. How much the Flyers will be willing to spend will likely depend on cap space, but a veteran with some measure of reliability would be ideal. The 11th pick last summer, Samuel Morin is a towering blueliner who could become an intimidating presence, but he skates well for his size and has improving puck skills. A third-round pick of the Flyers in 2012, Shayne Gostisbehere finished an impressive junior campaign with national-champion Union College. Hes not big, but Gostisbehere can skate, move the puck and work the point on the power play. Taken in the third round in 2011, Nick Cousins is a two-way centre who went through a learning process in his first pro season. Hell need to get stronger and continue to improve if hes going to take the next step, but the 20-year-old can play a feisty game that should endear him to the Flyers. Acquired from Carolina in January, 2013, Mark Alt is defenceman with good size and physical game who had a solid first pro season, during which he saw power play time and played a big role in the AHL. A second-round pick in 2012, Anthony Stolarz has posted a .924 save percentage in 55 OHL games since leaving Nebraska-Omaha. At 6-foot-6, Stolarz has prototypical size, yet hes a 20-year-old goaltender so its likely to take some time before hes ready to mount a challenge for an NHL job. Drafted in the second round last summer, Robert Hagg is a steady defensive defenceman who joined Adirondack late last season after a solid season in the Swedish Hockey League. He could use time to develop, but Hagg holds promise as a well-rounded blueliner. Undrafted winger Jason Akeson has forced his way into consideration for a spot with the Flyers, after scoring 172 points in 208 AHL games over the past three seasons. He took a regular spot in the Flyers top nine in the first round of the playoffs, and had respectable possession stats to show for it. Power forward Tye McGinn was a fourth-round pick in 2010. Hes scored seven goals and 10 points in 36 NHL games since, and had 34 goals and 61 points in 100 AHL games over the past couple seasons. A fourth-round pick in 2012, Taylor Leier is a skilled two-way forward who plays on a powerhouse Portland team and has improved steadily over three WHL seasons. Signed as a free agent after he failed to come to terms with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Petr Straka has some offensive upside and was okay in his first pro season. Hell need to produce more to warrant further promotion. Undrafted out of the Western Hockey League, Brandon Manning is making it hard to ignore his contributions, racking up penalty minutes to go with improving point totals. Nelson Cruz celebrated his Orioles debut by hitting a tiebreaking home run in the seventh inning, and Baltimore beat Jon Lester and the defending World Series champion Boston Red Sox 2-1 Monday. Signed as a free agent in February, Cruz lined a solo shot into the left field seats to put the Orioles ahead. He hit 27 homers last year with Texas during a season marred by a 50-game suspension from Major League Baseball in the Biogenesis drug scandal. Cruz joins a batting order that features Chris Davis, who led the majors in 2013 with 53 homers and 138 RBIs. Davis went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts as the cleanup hitter, but it didnt matter because the guy in the 5-hole picked up the slack. "It takes some of the pressure off everybody in the lineup knowing that you can pass the baton and the next guy can pick it up," Davis said. "We have to know as hitters going into the game that we can be patient, we can wait for our pitch, knowing that the guy behind us can pick us up." Cruz, meanwhile, couldnt have been more delighted. Not only did the Orioles provide him with a fresh start, but the fans chanted "Cruuuuuze!" every time his name was announced. "It was really neat, it was special," he said. "I made the right call to come and be part of this organization, be part of this town." Cruz wasnt the only player to enjoy a successful start with his new team. After missing two seasons recovering from knee surgery, Boston centre fielder Grady Sizemore marked his return from a 922-day absence with a second-inning single for his first hit since September 2011. The three-time All-Star for Cleveland later hit his first home run since July 15, 2011, which also came at Camden Yards. "Today was very exciting," Sizemore said. "I couldnt wait to get to the ballpark." Zach Britton (1-0) got the win with two scoreless innings of relief and Tommy Hunter got three outs for the save. Hunter earned the job as closer this spring after the Orioles dealt away Jim Johnson during the off-season. The Red Sox got two on with one out in the ninth before World Series MVP David Ortiz hit a flyball and Jackie Bradley Jr. took a called third strike. "Its life in baseball," Hunter said. "Youve got to earn everything you get. Onee-run game to start the season off against the defending world champs. Mark Recchi Penguins Jersey. " Starting on the road for the fourth year in a row, the Red Sox got nine hits but stranded 12 and went 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position. "We had a lot of opportunities, we had a lot of guys on," second baseman Dustin Pedroia said. "We just hit the ball right at people. It was one of those deals where we couldnt find a way to push runs across." Making his fourth straight opening day start for Boston, Lester (0-1) gave up two runs, six hits and a walk in seven innings. He struck out eight. Orioles starter Chris Tillman allowed one run, seven hits and a walk in five innings. The right-hander went 3-1 against Boston last year, but in this one he needed 104 pitches to get 15 outs. Britton gave up a one-out double to Xander Bogaerts in the sixth and got three straight outs in the seventh, the only time all day that Boston went down in order. Evan Meek walked two in the eighth before Brian Matusz retired A.J. Pierzynski on a comebacker. Gametime temperature was announced at 60 degrees, but a stiff wind chilled many in the crowd of 46,685 -- the 23rd consecutive opening day sellout at Camden Yards. Hopeful that the off-season acquisitions of Cruz and right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez will enable Baltimore to return to the playoffs after missing out last year, Orioles fans were out in force. Until recently, games against Boston often drew as many Red Sox backers as those rooting for the home team. "Our crowd was legit," Hunter said. "That was awesome. I hope they come out like that every game for 80 more here." The Orioles used a walk, a single by Matt Wieters and a double-play grounder to take a 1-0 lead in the second. The Red Sox put runners at second and third with two outs in the third before Tillman struck out Mike Carp. In the fourth, Sizemore hit a 3-1 pitch over the right-field wall. NOTES: Dustin Pedroia got Bostons first hit of the season, a one-out single in the first inning, to extend his hitting streak on opening day to eight games. ... After taking Tuesday off, the teams meet Wednesday night. John Lackey (13-5 lifetime against Baltimore) faces Jimenez in his Orioles debut. ... The Red Sox put RF Shane Victorino (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list and recalled Bradley. ... Ortiz received his 12th opening day start at DH, tying Don Baylors major league record at the position. LONDON -- Andy Murray won his first match since adding Amelie Mauresmo as his new coach, beating Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-4, 6-4 in the second round of the Queens Club grass-court tournament on Wednesday. Wade Boggs Yankees Jersey . "I was looking forward to getting back on the court," Murray said. "I enjoy playing here. I love being back on the grass. "I thought I was quite disciplined with my movement today. I moved pretty well. I wasnt sliding about too much. Yeah, it was a good start." Top seed and Australian Open winner Stanislas Wawrinka also advanced into the third round when Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus retired with a right shoulder injury as the Swiss led 3-2. There was victory too for 2011 finalist and fifth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France, who weathered a close first set before overwhelming Belgiums David Goffin 7-6 (5), 6-2. Since his loss to Roger Federer in the 2012 Wimbledon final, Murray has won 19 consecutive matches on grass and captured three titles, including the 2012 London Olympic gold at the All England Club, and Wimbledon and Queens last year. Murray hired former top-ranked player and two-time major winner Mauresmo as his coach on Sunday, initially for the grass-court season. He has been without a coach since he parted ways with Ivan Lendl in March. Hiring a female coach has generated a great deal of attention, and although he previously worked with his mother, Judy, for a long period, he admits that such a move at his level of the game was unusual. "At first when I thought about it, it was obviously a consideration, because for a few years I havent worked with a woman," he said. "Now the decision has been made, its not something that Im thinking about. Its more about the qualities that she can bring that will help me and my tennis and my team as well. I hope it works out long term because I like her. Shes a good person. I hope it works out well." Murray was impressed with Mauresmo when they met, and saw the qualities she could bring. "After I spoke to her the first time I just really liked her. She was calm. She asked a lot of questions. She listened. She listened a lot. I liked chatting to her, so then I decided to sit down and speak to her and had a good chat with her about tennis. "This week, theres not going to be any big changes in my game. I also wouldnt expect any before Wimbledon. But well definitely work on some things after the tournament is finished here." Vasek Pospisil of Vancouver lost 6-4, 6-4 to Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine while Torontos Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia defeated Wawrinka and Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria 7-6 (4), 7-5. Pospisil also lost in mens doubles. Ernests Gulbis, who reached his maiden Grand Slam semifinal at the French Open last week, fell to Kenny De Schepper of France 7-6 (3), 7-5. "I like the grass," Gulbis, the sixth seed from Latvia said. "But I never played well the first tournament. I always played decent in Wimbledon if I practiced well. So now Im going to stay here, practice two weeks on grass. Im going to be fully fine for Wimbledon." Lleyton Hewitt remains one victory short of Roger Federers record of 122 match wins on grass after being beaten 6-3, 6-4 by Feliciano Lopez. Hewitt, a four-time champion at Queens, was broken once in each set and failed to earn a single break point against the Spaniard. Its the first time the Australian has lost to Lopez in five meetings. Hewitt had been bidding to become the first player to win Queens five times. He shares the record of four titles with Andy Roddick. "I played a bit of a loose game the second game of the match," he said. "Then, yeah, he served really well the whole match. He had a lot better rhythm today than he did yesterday in his first-round match. He hit his spots really well." Dmitry Tursunov of Russia and Nicolas Mahut of France were beaten, but there were wins for eighth seed Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine and Radek Stepanek. Starlin Castro Jersey . Expensive. The Brazilian-born strikers brace drew him level with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo as the leagues leading scorers with 17 goals apiece through 16 rounds. After a first half dominated by defence, Atletico pressed Valencia into its area and Diego Costa did the rest. The Portland Trail Blazers will try to win a playoff series for the first time since 2000 on Wednesday night when they visit the Houston Rockets for Game 5 at the Toyota Center. Portland won Game 4 Sunday night at the Moda Center and are now up 3-1. The last time the Blazers won a playoff series came in the 2000 Western Conference semifinals against the Utah Jazz. They fell to the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games in the Conference Finals, but since, Portland has lost six times in the first round. That could all change on Wednesday. The Trail Blazers won the first two games in Houston, then fell in Game 3 at home. Portland is on the precipice of advancement, but its been a tough trek to get to this point. Three of the first four game went to overtime, including Game 4, which the Blazers won 123-120. "Its not exhausting if you win, its exhausting if you lose," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said of the series three overtime games. "And weve lost two of the three." LaMarcus Aldridge scored a game-high 29 points for the fifth-seeded Blazers, followed by 25 from Nicolas Batum. Damian Lillard had 23 and Wesley Matthews added 21. James Harden had 28 points to lead the Rockets, Chandler Parsons scored 26 -- but just seven after halftime -- and Dwight Howard ended with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Portland took its first lead since 6-5 when Batum spun Parsons around with a crossover dribble and knocked down a 3-pointer from the high right side to make it 99-97 with 4 1/2 minutes left in regulation. Later, Howards only two blocks of the game came before Harden made four foul shots in a row to give Houston a 104-102 edge with 50.9 seconds on the clock. After Batum missed a 3, Jeremy&nbbsp;Lin rebounded the ball for the Rockets but was stripped by Mo Williams. Thurman Munson Yankees Jersey. Matthews missed a layup, but Lillard got the rebound and kicked it to Williams, who knocked down a 3 to give Portland a one-point lead with 18.9 seconds left in the fourth. Howards game-tying dunk came after Dorell Wright missed one of two foul shots for the Blazers, and Williams missed a 3-point try at the buzzer for Portland. Matthews opened overtime by wrestling the ball away from Howard and called a timeout, Parsons smacked Aldridge across the face at the other end for a Flagrant 1 foul and Aldridge made his free throws for the first points of overtime. Still, the game was tied until Batum scored five straight to spark a 7-0 run that gave the Blazers the lead for good. He made a 3-pointer after Aldridge stripped Howard under the Rockets basket, then found Lillard in transition for a layup and 117-110 lead with 2:19 to play. Troy Daniels, the former D-League player and unexpected hero for the Rockets in Game 3 when he hit the winning 3 in the closing seconds of overtime, made his first three NBA foul shots to get them within a point with 8.9 seconds left. After Williams made two free throws at the other end, Matthews stepped in front of Patrick Beverley just beyond midcourt and knocked the ball loose, sealing the win -- Portlands second in overtime in the series. "It was another terrific game and I think its obvious that both teams are pretty evenly matched," said Portland coach Terry Stotts. "I was really proud of the way we played in the second half. I thought we showed a lot of heart and determination to get back into the game." If needed, Game 6 will be Friday night in Portland. MISSISSAUGA, Ont. Artemi Panarin Jersey . -- Sam Bennett isnt accustomed to being last in anything. First among North American skaters in NHL Central Scoutings final 2014 draft rankings, the Kingston Frontenacs centre finished dead-last in one category during Saturdays fitness testing at the annual combine. Bennett couldnt do a single pull-up. "I was definitely disappointed with myself," Bennett said. "I was wanting to do the best I can in every test. But, I guess, ultimately games arent won or lost if you can do a pull-up in the gym." Bennett likely wont take much of a hit from being 12 pull-ups behind the leaders. If anything, his showing could help whichever team takes him early in the first round June 27 in Philadelphia. "The fact that he can play the game the way he plays the game, I think the teams feel that hes a pretty complete package," NHL Central Scouting director Dan Marr said. "This is what the whole combines about: The team thats going to get Sam Bennett knows what work lies ahead and theyll be able to put him on the proper path for development." Bennett finished ahead of Barrie defenceman Aaron Ekblad, Kootenay centre Sam Reinhart and two other potential top picks, Prince Albert winger Leon Draisaitl and Oshawa winger Michael Dal Colle because of what he developed into on the ice. With his fathers favourite player, Doug Gilmour, overseeing his progress as Kingstons general manager, the Holland Landing, Ont., native had 36 goals and 55 assists in 57 OHL games this past season. But just like with pull-ups, Bennett doesnt want to be defined by numbers alone. "I think (what sets me apart) really just a combination of my hockey sense along with my compete level," he said. "I think I compete as hard, if not harder, than anyone else." Bennett isnt the only one trying to compete to go first overall, or in the top five, the first round or in the draft, period. Over a hundred fellow prospects joined him at this weeks combine with the aim of impressing NHL teams. Well before the physical grind that was Saturdays fitness testing, players gathered outside of Toronto to meet with NHL teams. Marr likened the entire process to a giant conveyor belt as these teenagers went through the mental trials of often answering the same questions over and over. Most dont mind it. Top European skater Kasperi Kapanen -- son of former NHL forward Sami -- called it "natural" to sit around and talk to people, and Draisaitl didnt want to downplay the week, either. "I think its really important for them to know what kind of a guy I am and how I work off the ice," said Draisaitl, the only German-born player at the combine. "Thats a really important part of it. Its not only everything about the ice." Teams have spent countless hours watching these players on the ice, and thats not what the combine is about. Despite talk among general managers about adding on-ice testing, there is nothing of the sort, and individual teams arent allowed to invite prospects to their cities to skate. At the annual GM meeting in March, commissioner Gary Bettman said there was some discussion to see "what needs to be done to make the combine as effective as possible." After consultation with strength coaches, Marr said that new, more "dynamic" tests were put in this year to better gauge players physical abilities. One change was pull-ups replacing push-ups because it meant players had to lift their own body weight. While Bennett couldnt do one, Brandon centre Jayce Hawryluk and Czech winger David Pastrnak each did 12. Of course that doesnt necessarily mean theyll be better players, or that theyre closer to being NHL-ready. "This isnt a pass or fail type of test," Marr said. "It just allows the NHL teams to see where these players are in their current state of development." Bennett, who turns 18 in June, conceded that hell need to work on his upper-body strength in the gym this summer. As Marr knows, thats not unusual for junior-aged players. "(At age) 17, 18, 19, if you go back in history with some of the players in the game, theyll find that there was one summer that really made a difference in their physical development," he said. "So maybe at this stage he just hasnt had that summer of development, and itll come." By then, Bennett will more than likely be a top-five pick. If he goes first to the Florida Panthers -- or whoever makes that selection -- itll be clear that on-ice potential is worth tons more than a lack of pull-ups. "It would be pretty special," Bennett said. "At the end of the day it is just a number, and everyones going to be in the same spot come training camp, trying to make the team. Obviously it is every kids dream to go as high as they can get into the NHL." Martin Havlat Jersey .While Rosberg is coming off a strong victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Hamilton is dwelling on a mistake that ended his streak of five consecutive wins and kept him from increasing his advantage. Teuvo Teravainen Jersey . "Right now were kind of looking at him at the end of the rotation right now," said pitching coach Pete Walker. "Not indicative of how hes doing or how hes feeling. Its just, it seems like the spot we want him right now. http://www.blackhawksshophockey.com/red-58-graham-knott-womens-jersey/ . -- The Kelowna Rockets earned their 16th straight win with a 7-2 rout of the Portland Winterhawks in Western Hockey League action Thursday.WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Lizette Salas didnt have to wait long to be tested in her latest attempt at a breakthrough victory on the LPGA Tour. The challenge came on the first hole Sunday in the Kingsmill Championship, after she was overly cautious with her first putt, leaving it nearly 10 feet short of the cup with a sliding, downhill test to save par. She made it, the start of a day when she did little wrong on her way to a four-shot victory. "Yeah, that was a big putt just to start off the day," Salas said. "Downhill slider to the right. I mean, I even threw in a fist pump because I knew how important that was for me mentally and on a confidence standpoint." The 24-year-old Salas made it look easy the rest of the way, even while shooting just an even-par 71 on the River Course. Salas started the day with a three-shot lead, doubled it with birdies on the par-5 third and par-3 fifth. A bogey on the par-4 eighth was her only hiccup -- and only her third bogey in four rounds -- until she three-putted the par-3 17th. She finished at 13-under 271 and earned $195,000. Yani Tseng, Kraft Nabisco winner Lexi Thompson and Sarah Jane Smith tied for second. Salas was never really challenged in the final round on the River Course, and when her final putt fell on the 18th hole, she cupped her head in her hands and covered her face in celebration. Her winning moment was quickly interrupted, however, when four fellow players arrived and doused her with champagne, water and wine. The victory came after Salas flirted with victory several times in her three years on tour. It also came after she missed the cut two weeks ago and realized she needed to change her mental approach to give herself a fighting chance. "I felt like I wanted to be perfect all the time," she said. "I felt like I needed to play like a top tier golfer every week. Thats not it. Its about feeling confident. Golf is a sport where you cant control everything. ... I just took a step back and looked at golf differently. I just tried to have fun this week. That was the most important thing." This year, she tied for third in the season-opening event in the Bahamas and shared the lead after three rounds in the Kia Classic in her home staate of California, but Anna Nordqvist closed with a 5-under 67 -- to Salas 70 -- to win by one. Duncan Keith Jersey. Last year, playing alongside winner Inbee Park in the final group of the Kraft Nabisco, Salas shot 79 to tie for 25th. Two weeks later, Salas lost a playoff to Suzann Pettersen in the LPGA LOTTE in Hawaii. Salas chunked her approach into the water on the first extra hole after closing with a tournament-record 62. The daughter of Mexican immigrants, Salas was introduced to the game when her father, the head mechanic at Azusa Greens west of Los Angeles, did some handyman jobs for the club pro and, instead of pay, asked him to teach his daughter to play. She went on to star at Southern California, where she was a four-time All-America selection and helped the Trojans win the 2008 NCAA title. The victory came on a rare weekend when her parents didnt come to the tournament, but watched from their home in California, and it brought tears to the eyes of Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez, who has been a mentor of sorts for Salas. "Im crying. Im so proud of her," Lopez said by telephone after watching the celebration on the green. "She looked great out there, just very confident and swinging great. ... Like she said on TV, she was ready. It was time." Salas expects "some tears of happiness" when she sees her parents Monday. Tseng, seeking her first victory since 2012, got within three with three birdies in a four-hole stretch on the back nine, but she finished with two pars and a double bogey for a 69, expanding Salas lead to five shots. Thompson had a 69, and Smith shot 66 -- the best round of the day. Tseng nearly made it very interesting at the par-5 15th, but her eagle putt stopped just short of the cup. "One more roll it will be in," she said. "I know if I make that I have a good chance." The tournament also featured a golf rarity, a double eagle. It was scored by Frenchwoman Joanna Klatten on No. 15. Klatten said her drive left her a perfect distance away for her 3-wood, and she had a feeling something great was coming. "Its intuition.
