MEMPHIS, Tenn. Kris Bryant Jersey . -- The Memphis Grizzlies are leaning on point guard Mike Conley as they wait for other starters to return from injury. Hes coming through. Conley matched his career high with 31 points and led a fourth-quarter rally as the Grizzlies defeated the Phoenix Suns 104-99 Friday night. It marked Conleys second consecutive game with at least 30 points as Memphis plays without centre Marc Gasol, who is rehabbing a knee injury. Tony Allen, Conleys backcourt mate, has missed three straight games with a sprained left wrist. "(Conleys) been great," said forward Zach Randolph, who had 20 points and 13 rebounds for Memphis. "The kids worked on his game, and he keeps getting better and better." Ed Davis had 10 points and a career-high 17 rebounds as the Grizzlies outrebounded the Suns 53-44. Mike Miller finished with 11 points. Randolph tied his season high in assists with seven. "We were really focused on getting boards, and they still get them," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said of the Grizzlies. Conley was a key force in the fourth quarter when he scored five points in run that put the Grizzlies ahead for good. He finished the night 11 of 19 from the field, including 3 of 7 from outside the arc. "Im having fun with it," Conley said. "Ive had games where I dont play well, and Im still trying to carry the load and games where I do. Im just having fun and trying to help us get wins." Goran Dragic led the Suns with 21 points and eight assists, connecting on six of 10 shots. Markieff Morris came off the Phoenix bench for 17 points. Gerald Green had 12 points. The Phoenix loss came on a day when the Suns announced that guard Eric Bledsoe, the teams second-leading scorer, is out indefinitely after having knee surgery earlier in the day to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. Phoenix held an 88-86 advantage with about 6 minutes left when Memphis scored seven straight points. Memphis lead was built as the Suns struggled from the field in the final quarter, connecting on only 9 of 27 shots, including 2 of 11 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Memphis hit 10 of 18 shots in the fourth. "They are not known to be a 3-point shooting team," said Channing Frye who scored 10 points for Phoenix, "but they hit some huge threes down the end." Hornacek, like others, did not lose sight of Conleys impact. He talked about the point guards court vision and quickness to keep the Grizzlies offence flowing. "Mike Conley made a bunch of great plays at the end of the game," Hornacek said. "You want to have a chance to win in the fourth quarter. .They made the plays that we didnt. We missed layups. We had open shots. We just didnt finish them." The Suns built a 10-point before carrying a 55-48 lead into the break. After Phoenix opened the third quarter hitting 4 of 5 shots from outside the arc, Memphis chipped away, outscoring the Suns 16-7 in the closing minutes of the third to tie the game at 74 entering the fourth. "We crashed the boards," Conley said of the second half rally. "They started missing a couple of shots. They were making some tough shots throughout the game. We had a feeling that once they started to miss, we had to be there to get the rebound and go down on the other end and convert it." At 6-foot-2, 255 pounds, Sam will likely have to transition to outside linebacker, which could impact where hes drafted. But announcing hes gay could also have an impact on his draft status. "Im not naive to think there arent potentially some owners or executives out there who will say, Eh, Im not so sure now." said Golden State Warriors President and Chief of Operations Rick Welts, who came out publicly in 2011. "But also, I hope, there are a lot who would say, Theres an opportunity to do something that I think our fans would actually embrace. Nike Free 5.0 Schwarz Damen .J. - Donald (Cowboy) Cerrone earned his third victory of 2014, scoring a second-round knockout of perennial contender Jim Miller in the headliner of Wednesdays "UFC Fight Night: Cerrone vs. Miller" event at Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J. It was New Jersey native Miller who was the sharper fighter early, taking advantage of a typical slow start from Cerrone to rack points with a crisp jab and aggressive gameplan. But that changed in the second, as Cerrone took control of the fight. Using crushing knees to the body and big punches up top, Cerrone began to deal crushing shots in the standup game. A front kick to the liver nearly ended the fight, but referee Dan Miragliotta mistakenly thought the shot was to the groin and called timeout. Miller explained the shot was legal, and the bout was restarted, potentially robbing Cerrone of a chance to finish the fight. It hardly mattered. On the restart, Cerrone went right back on the attack, drilling the body before launching a high kick that landed flush and sent Miller tumbling to the floor. Cerrone jumped on top to secure the finish, and Miragliotta waved off the fight at the 3:31 mark of the round. In the nights co-feature, lightweight striker Edson Barboza (14-2) made quick work of Evan Dunham (14-6), landing a devastating kick to the liver that ended the fight at the 3:06 mark of the first round. Barboza was patient from the centre of the cage as Dunham looked to move in and out of range and set up a potential takedown. The strategy paid off, as they two never got into any real dangerous exchanges. Instead, a well-placed kick to the body saw Dunham crumple to the canvas, and Barboza followed with a few punches to secure the TKO stoppage. "Everybody knows my background is in muay Thai," Barboza said. "I saw his elbow come up a little bit, and just as my coach taught me, it was the opening I needed for the win." looked impressive in a one-sided destruction of Brazilian Leonardo Mafra (11-2), manhandling him the opening round before scoring a submission win in the second. While Mafra looked eager to turn the fight into a striking battle, Story wisely exploited his opponents weaknesses by repeatedly throwing him to the floor and controlling the action from top position. Mafra had no answer, bucking and rolling but never able to get back to his feet. After punishing his opponent with punches and elbows from the top in the first round, Story changed approaches in the second, locking in an arm-triangle choke and scoring the tapout victory at the 2:12 mark of the round. "Going into all of my fights, I know the takedown is going to be there," Story said after the win. "I just need to do it. Being able to go in and do what I can do was the key to my win." Lightweight Joe Proctor (10-2) survived some early trouble against a hard-hitting Justin Salas (12-6) to come back and score a TKO win of his own in the second round. Salas was the early aggressor, firing heavy shots from range and drawing blood from his opponent in the early going. A stiff right hand later in the frame would create a gruesome-looking hematoma in Proctors left temple, but Proctor refused to go away. In the second, with Salas still firing heavy leather, Proctor scored with a left hand that dazed his foe. A second came behind it, and Proctor pounced to get the finish with a flurry of punches on the floor. Referee Gasper Oliver stopped the fight at the 3:27 mark of the second round, and while Salas protested the decision, he was obviously dazed as he complained. "I worked with a great boxing coach," Proctor said after the win. "Everybody knows I like to finish with my right hand, but I was able to finish with my left hook, which was great. Ive been working and working on my boxing and looking for the knockout and it finally came." Flyweights John Lineker (24-7) and Alptekin Ozkilic (9-3) combined for one of the most thrilling contests in recent memory, slugging it out over the course of three rounds before Lineker scored a TKO win with just nine seconds remaining in the contest. The three-round affair was punctuated by vicious striking exchanges from both fighters, who stood in the pocket and traded punch after punch. Lineker was always just a touch quicker, and his shots seemed to land with a little more power. The Brazilian targeted both the body and the head, and Ozkilic finally broke in the final round. A series of left hands found their mark, and Ozkilic went to the floor, where Lineker sealed the result with a series of punches on the floor. "He liked to play my game, and that let me go for the striking and the exchange," Lineker said after the win. "I found the right openings at the right time, and that enabled me to get the knockout." In the nights first main-card matchup, Brazilian striker Lucas Martins (15-1) handed featherweight Alex White (10-1) his first professional loss with a thrilling third-round TKO. While White moved forward with big shots on the feet throughout the fight, Martins was more efficient with his counters, using pinpoint punches to pick apart his foe. In the third, a right hand scored on the button, sending White to the floor, and Martins pounced with thunderous hammerfists to seal the TKO at the 2:08 mark of the third round. "He was a very tough fighter, and it was a hard fight for me," Martins said after the win. "I have heavy hands and a long reach. FIVE QUICK NBA THOUGHTS: 1. Nike Roshe Run Herren . DEMAR DEROZAN (Raptors): Hopefully, hes back sooner rather than later. Hell be missed by his team - obviously. Hes such a competitor. After getting hurt the other night, he kept trying to play on his injured foot. He loves the game and Im so impressed with his progress over the years. DeRozan is a mature and serious young man. There is a reason above and beyond his physical ability why hes a good player; he has worked incredibly hard on his skills, his strength and conditioning and is a student of the game. It would be nice to see him make the All Star game. In the meantime, Raptors really need to buckle down defensively and find scoring and consistency in other areas, could be a challenge. Big one tonight here in New York City vs. the red hot Nets. 2. SHAUN LIVINGSTON (Nets): When you watch the Raptors tonight it is always nice to see a guy who has fought back from a devastating injury to have success. When he was a young player with the Clippers, Livingston had a chance to be a special player in this league and then it all got derailed. He has made a difference with Brooklyn, being a sound defender who sets the tone for his team. In the absence of Deron Williams, his leadership was critical for Coach Jason Kidd turning this team around. Not a flashy player yet his smarts, toughness and consistency are a big part why the Nets are surging right now. 3. SPENCER HAWES (Sixers): Hawes has really developed in the past few years into a steady Post player. His rebounding instincts are solid while his back to the basket game has improved. Jimmy Rollins, who should go down as one of the all-time great Phillies, is being questioned about his attitude and whether he is hurting the franchise by refusing to allow himself to be traded. Grove went all the way in a 10-6 victory over Cleveland giving up five earned runs on 12 hits. He never won again that season and called it a career on December 7, 1941, the day the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Early Wynn, Tom Cheeks original partner on the Blue Jays radio broadcasts, went 7-15 with the Chicago White Sox in 1962 and finished that season with 299 victories. He came back with the Cleveland Indians, the club with which he had most of his greatest seasons, in 1963 at age 43 for one last shot at number 300. On July 13, he finally got it , but hardly in grand and glorious style. Wynn left the game after five innings with Cleveland holding a 5-4 lead over the Kansas City Atheltics. There was one other case that I can recall of a player hanging in to get a record. Carlton Fisk, then of the Chicago White Sox, broke Bob Boones all-time record for games caught behind the plate with his 2,226th on June 22, 1993. Six days later, in what was perceived to be a heartless move, Fisk was released by the club. Is Jimmy Rollins selfish? No less so than any of the above three Hall of Famers. As long as the effort and the desire are there, I say more power to Rollins. He has a contract and the rules of baseball say he cant be traded.
