EDMONTON – The Maple Leafs do not have a controversy. Authentic Clay Matthews Jersey . What they own instead, through the first 12 games of the season, is one of the strongest goaltending tandems in the league. "I dont think you could say that we dont have 1-A and 1-B," Randy Carlyle said confidently of his two goaltenders, following practice in Edmonton on Monday afternoon. Tag-teaming between the pipes in Toronto, Jonathan Bernier and James Reimer have combined to post the fifth-best collective save percentage in the NHL so far this season. Right there alongside potent special teams and a juiced up offence, goaltending has been a primary factor in the Leafs early season success (16 points, tied for first in the Eastern Conference). "If you dont have goaltending you dont have a chance, you dont have a starting point," said Carlyle, frowning on the daily interest his goaltenders attract. "And every team in the league is looking for the same thing; for their goalies to go in there and give them a chance. In our situation our goalies have been very, very good for us." The numbers between the two are nearly identical so far. Bernier (5-4-0) has started seven games and owns a .930 save percentage; .936 at even-strength and .919 when his team is shorthanded. Reimer (3-0-0) has started five of his own and boasts a .933 overall mark; .933 at even-strength and .920 shorthanded. As a tandem, the duo boast a .928 save percentage, trailing only the hot-starting Avalanche, (10-1-0), Bruins (7-3-0), Sharks (10-1-1) and Canadiens (7-5-0). Theyve managed such effectiveness in spite of an increasingly heavy strain; the Leafs yield an average of 35 shots per game, falling under the 30-shot plateau in just one game so far. Working within the tandem concept has been an adjustment for both goaltenders. Bernier had never started three consecutive games in the NHL prior to joining the Leafs, stuck as the understudy to Jonathan Quick for years in Los Angeles. The 25-year-old has started three in a row twice already this season and says the adjustment is mental above all else. "Its a whole new mind-set for me," he explained to the Leaf Report. Rather than gearing up for the one customary start hed made every couple weeks with the Kings, Bernier has had to prepare himself mentally for the possibility of a string of starts. He hadnt done that since the 2009-10 season, when he was the starting netminder for the AHLs Manchester Monarchs. "To get that routine back and get that good feeling every night I think thats the hardest part," he said. "I knew coming in this season if I was going to play a few games back-to-back my focus [needed] to be consistent. All year, thats what Im going to try to work as hard as possible because I kind of lost that." Bernier, who considers any game where he yields more than two goals to be an off-night, looks to Martin Brodeur as the ultimate example of mental consistency. The Devils future Hall-of-Famer was previously a regular for 70-plus games each and every season. Guiding the Leafs to their first playoff berth in nine years in 2013, Reimer faces a different and maybe more difficult circumstance than his Quebec-born counterpart. He was the entrenched No. 1 in Toronto last season, starting 31 of 48 games with a .924 save percentage that ranked eighth at the position. His once-firm hold on the starting job was thrown into question with the acquisition of Bernier. "I think you want to play consecutive games," he told the Leaf Report. "Thats when you feel you can get in a groove and thats when you feel you can play your best. I think thats the ultimate thing. And so when you have two guys its kind of hard to do that sometimes. It might be a little harder to adjust." Competition certainly has the tendency to breed improved results, but in Reimers situation, that may not be the case exactly. His focus, as he explains it, isnt squared so much on competing with Bernier, but rather on his own individual performance. "You cant think about it," said Reimer of the competition, coming off a 37-save performance against the Penguins on Saturday. "Its just some more, in essence, white noise that you cant let get through. "You dont run a marathon looking behind you the whole time – youre looking forward," he continued. "And if you feel a guy on your heels do you run a little faster? Maybe. But maybe thats not how you should run anyways ... You can say [the competition will] push you, but at the same time its more important for you to stick to your game-plan and not worry about it." Leading the bench in Anaheim for seven seasons, Carlyle has plenty of experience and success with the tandem approach in goal. When he and the Ducks won the Stanley Cup in 2007, it was actually Ilya Bryzgalov who started the opening four games of the postseason before Jean-Sebastien Giguere took over in Game 5 against the Wild, running the crease the remainder of the way. "That was the plan in the beginning," Carlyle said of the tandem concept. "Weve stated that and were going to continue to go again with the person who we feel is going to give us the best chance for success on any given night." When Leafs general manager Dave Nonis swung the trade for Bernier in late June he pledged to have the makings of a strong foundation in goal with a pair of 25-year-olds. "We feel weve got two of the top young goaltenders in the league right now," said Nonis. "Both of them we feel have the potential to be solid No. 1s. "Both guys have the potential, both of them want it, and that can only make your organization stronger." So far – its still early – so good. Eddie Lacy Jersey . Vazquez will be defending his IBF belt for the sixth time since August 2010, having lost only three of his 36 fights. Burns saw plans to defend his WBO belt dashed recently when two planned opponents withdrew from title fights. Jordy Nelson Packers Jersey . They became the first French team to win the mens doubles at Roland Garros since Yannick Noah and Henri Leconte in 1984. They broke for a 5-3 lead in the opening set. They won the last four points in the tiebreaker and clinched the victory when Lopez netted a volley. http://www.packerssportsonline.com/super-bowl-xlix-jordy-nelson-jersey/ . -- Milos Raonic and Aleksandra Wozniak continued successful injury comebacks as each advanced into the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open on Monday to next face reigning Grand Slam champions. LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly got on the plane after Josh Becketts no-hitter in Philadelphia and teased next-day starter Hyun-Jin Ryu. "You have to throw a perfect game to top Beckett," Mattingly told the South Korean left-hander. Ryu nearly did. He retired his first 21 batters before Todd Fraziers leadoff double in the eighth inning, and Los Angeles held on to beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 Monday. "For a minute there, I thought, Whew, he might do it," Mattingly said. The Reds hit only three balls out of the infield before Frazier doubled down the left-field line on an 0-1 pitch. That followed a three-run seventh by the Dodgers in which Ryu ran the bases and scored. Ryu came close to making the Dodgers the first team in major league history with consecutive no-hitters. Beckett won 6-0 on Sunday. "Of course it was in the back of my mind," Ryu said through a translator, explaining that he had never carried a no-hit bid that deep. "It wasnt until the seventh that I thought it could happen." Los Angeles pitchers tossed a club-record 17 straight hitless innings dating to Saturday, when Paul Maholm got it started against the Phillies. The only other team since 1974 to have a no-hitter through seven innings in back-to-back games was the Oakland Athletics on July 14-15, 2005, against Texas, according to STATS. "It gives us confidence as a ballclub that what weve been built for is to pitch," Mattingly said. "It tells me we can get on a roll." The only other club since 1974 to pitch 17 straight hitless innings was the Los Angeles Angels from May 1-3, 2012, including Jered Weavers no-hitter, STATS said. "I was more nervous tonight," Mattingly said. "Its a one-run game and one swing can change the whole game. It was fun to watch until the eighth." Cincinnati scored three times in the eighth, but right fielder Yasiel Puig made a key defensive play when he cut off Billy Hamiltons two-run double in the gap. The relay home held Skip Schumaker at third, and Kenley Jansen struck out Brandon Phillips with the bases loaded to preserve a 4-3 lead. Jansen also worked the ninth, retiring Devin Mesoraco with two on for his 15th save. Johnny Cueto (4-4) allowed four hits and four runs -- one earned -- in 6 1-3 innings. Ryu (5-2) was charged with three runs and three hits in 7 1-3 innings, improving to 6-0 in six starts against the Reds. He struck out seven and walked none while winning for the first time at Dodger Stadium this season. He was 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA in three previous home starts. "He was great through seven," said backup catcher Drew Butera, who also caught Becketts game. "When guys see a pitcher a third time theyre a little more confident. He still made some good pitches; they just foound some holes. Authentic Aaron Rodgers Jersey. " Ryu got help from third baseman Justin Turner, who was playing for injured Juan Uribe. Turner made two diving stops in the hole against Zack Cozart his first two times up and threw him out both times. "It was a huge part," Ryu said. "He motivated me to focus more and try a little harder." Reds manager Bryan Price singled out Turner as a standout. "His 16-pitch at-bat really took a lot of the starch out of Johnny in the seventh and led to their big inning," Price said. Ryu left to a standing ovation not long after Frazier spoiled his bid for the first perfect game in the majors since Felix Hernandez accomplished the feat for Seattle against Tampa Bay on Aug. 15, 2012. Ryan Ludwick followed with a single, moving Frazier to third. He scored on Chris Heiseys sacrifice fly that left the Reds trailing 4-1. Brayan Pena singled, bringing Mattingly to the mound to remove Ryu. "He was throwing every pitch in any count and just kept us off balance really well," Heisey said. "He wasnt leaving anything over the middle of the plate. It was almost like he was setting up his fastball with his changeup and his curveball. He did a great job of mixing it up and not giving in." The Reds continued the rally after Brian Wilson replaced Ryu. Wilson gave up Hamiltons two-run double and walked Cozart before he was yanked and angrily slammed his glove twice against the dugout wall. Wilson paced back and forth several times, then began clapping as Jansen was introduced. Ryu faced a Reds lineup in which only one batter began the day batting over .264. That was Phillips, who came in hitting .281. The Reds played without slugger Joey Votto, who went on the disabled list Sunday with a strained left knee, and right fielder Jay Bruce, who came off the DL last Friday after left knee surgery. The Dodgers had a long inning in the seventh, which started with Turners 16-pitch walk. Ryu was later credited with his first RBI of the season. Cozart charged Ryus slow bouncer to shortstop with the infield playing in, hoping for a play at the plate. Instead, Cozart bobbled the ball and all the runners were safe. Turner scored to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead. They extended it to 4-0 on Carl Crawfords two-run double that scored Ryu and Dee Gordon. Los Angeles led 1-0 in the third on a two-out fielding error by Frazier, who was making his second start at first base this season because of Vottos absence. NOTES: Sandy Koufax remains the only Dodgers pitcher with a perfect game, a 1-0 win over the Chicago Cubs at home on Sept. 9, 1965. ... Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully missed the game because of a chest cold that was expected to keep him out of the booth Tuesday as well. ... The Dodgers will give away Ryu bobbleheads on Tuesday. SEATTLE -- The first major contract extension finalized by the Seattle Seahawks following their Super Bowl title was a commitment to coach Pete Carroll -- and to an ideology that finally proved successful at the professional level. Nike Roshe Run Homme Noir Et Blanc . While getting stars such as Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman locked up remains important, the focus for the Seahawks was making sure Carroll was sticking around. "This was a huge priority for us coming into the off-season," Seattle general manager John Schneider said Friday. "We knew it was around the corner and it was, quite honestly, were trying to take care of our own people and keep our young players together. But where do you start? You start at the top." The Seahawks locked up Carroll through the 2016 season with a three-year extension announced Friday. The new contract rips up the final year of the original five-year deal Carroll signed in January 2010, and cleared up any uncertainty whether the 62-year-old coach wanted to stick around after his original deal expired. Carroll is staying. So are the ideas and beliefs he brought with him when he arrived from Southern California. Back then, there was skepticism whether his style and attitude would work in the NFL. Now, theres no question. "Whether this came about or not I was going to keep busting it and going for it. It wasnt going to matter in that regard. But I think the statement, that they wanted to validate the commitment to what were doing and how were doing it, was extraordinary," Carroll said. "It was an extraordinary effort on their part and Im just humbled and thrilled they see it that way." Carroll is 38-26 in four regular seasons with Seattle and 5-2 in the playoffs. Hes the second-oldest head coach in the NFL -- yet rarely acts his age -- and one of seven current coaches with a Super Bowl title. The championship was a crowning achievement for Carroll after struggles in his two previous stints as an NFL head coach with the New York Jets and New England. Carroll was lured to Seattle because of something he didnt have in his previous NFL stops: control. Seattle gave him the reins to the franchise, and hired him before adding Schneider to the mix, and creating a relationship that has been marked by stability and success. After nearly a decade of winning with the Trojans and having say over a program, that level of control was crucial if he was going back to the professional ranks. The Seahawks were willing. "I loved my time at USC and I was having the time of my life being part of that wonderful school and all the things that we were doing," Carroll said. "But I knew there was another challenge out there and that was coming to the league." The challenge Carroll inherited included tearing down and rebuilding the Seahawks roster and treading water through a pair of 7-9 seasons his first two years. The breakthrough came in Year 3 when Seattle drafted Russell Wilson, who gave them stability at quarterback. Seattle went 11-5 in Carrolls third season and reached the divisional round of the playoffs. Carroll followed that by guiding the Seahawks to 13 regular-season wins, the 2013 NFC West title and home-field advantage in the playoffs. Seattle knocked off New Orleans in the divisional round then edged San Francisco in the NFC title game before routing Denver 43-8 in the Super Bowl in February. Part of the allure for Carroll now is Seattles potential. The Seahawks are still young and have the likes of Wilson, Sherman, Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Percy Harvin and Michael Bennett, among others, returning from the title team. "Fortunately weve had a pretty good little run and were in the middle of something pretty special," Carroll said. "Theres no reason that either one of us think, OK, we did this one time and that was it and that was our shot. We think were right in the middle of a great opportunity here." They missed only in 2008, when Brady suffered a season-ending knee injury in the opener and Miami won the AFC East. Now they can secure home-field advantage with wins in their remaining games against the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.Everything starts with winning your division, Patriots safety Devin McCourty said. We wanted to win big. That seemed unlikely in the first half when they gave up Ryan Tannehills 32-yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace with five seconds left. The Patriots had a much different look after intermission, starting with Bradys 34-yard completion to Rob Gronkowski on the first play from scrimmage. Six plays later on third-and-11 at the Miami 20, Brady ran up the right side and was knocked out of bounds at the 3.I wished I wouldnt have gotten knocked down, but thats the way it goes, he said. Its good to go in there and finish them off like we did.Miami (7-7) gave up a touchdown on a blocked field goal and Tannehill threw two interceptions.Itll probably take a miracle to get into the playoffs, Wallace said. Here are some things to remember from New Englands second straight win and Miamis second straight lossCORING FAST: The Patriots scored 17 points in 3:14 late in the third quarter to take a 38--13 lead. Stephen Gostkowski kicked a 35-yard field goal before Brady threw touchdown passes of 27 yards to Gronkowski and 6 yards to Julian Edelman. It was awful, Wallace said. But just four plays later, Caleb Sturgis 41-yard field goal attempt was blocked by Jamie Collins and returned 62 yards by Kyle Arrington for a touchdown. Midway through the first quarter, Jason Trusniks interception began a drive that brought the Dolphins to the Patriots 10. But they settled for a 24-yard field goal by Sturgis. The game started on a good, positive play for us, Miami coach Joe Philbin said, but were down there in good position and werent able to capitalize.SAME TEAMS, DIFFERENT RESULT: The Patriots evened the season series that began with a 33-20 loss at Miami in the opener. In that one, the Patriots had a bad second half after leading 20-10. On Sunday, they dominated the last two quarters.Weve been waiting all season to get back and play this game, McCourty said.KICKERS MILESTONE: Gostkowski became the Patriots career leading scorer with 1,165 points, passing Adam Vinatieri, the kicker he succeeded in 2006. Gostkowski had 11 points on Sunday to top Vinatieris total of 1,158.It was a special game for me, he said. Its my sons birthday (Monday) and my whole family is in town. Just a coincidence of something like that happening at home and with a lot of people in town.NOTES: Brady completed 21 of 35 passes for 287 yards and one interception. MADRID, Spain -- Barcelona came from behind for an easy 4-1 victory over Cartagena in the Copa del Rey on Friday to end a two-game losing streak. http://www.therangersfanshop.com/Mats-Zuccarello-Jersey/ . Carlos de Lerma struck after just six minutes to put the hosts ahead against the Spanish champions, who left Neymar on the bench. Despite missing injured trio Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona then simply overwhelmed its third-division opponents with its sheer attacking talent. Pedro Rodriguez scored either side of Cesc Fabregas second-half volley, and substitute Jean Dongou marked his debut with a late goal as Barcelona snapped out of its first slump of the season. "We were obliged to win considering who we are and where we come from," coach Gerardo Martino said. Six matches opened the round of 32, with Juan Carlos Garrido beginning his Real Betis coaching career with a win as the struggling Spanish league side beat 10-man Lleida 2-1. None of the lower-tier clubs emerged victorious on Friday as Real Betis and Sevilla coming away from their first legs with away wins. De Lerma latched on to a bouncing ball inside the area to fire Cartagena ahead, and the hosts should have had a second 10 minutes later only Fernando Rodriguez shot wide. "They played a very intense game, they didnt stop running and showed a great attitude for the first 15 to 20 minutes," Martino said. "But after that when we controlled possession we took the legs out from under Cartegena." But Barcelona -- which had Jordi Alba return for the first time since September -- continued to pressure with its speed and combinations, with Alexis Sanchez and Pedro guilty of glaring misses before Fabregas sprung Pedro with a through ball to score from in the 36th. Fabregas volleyed Adrianos cross into the top corner to put Barcelona ahead just before the break. Sanchez re-directed Pedros cross over an empty goal just before the Chile striker put Pedro through to score in the 75th with a slick dummy around goalkeeper Jesus Limones. Dongou came on for Alexis and the Cameroon teenager latched on to Pedros shot as it came off the post in the 90th for his first goal. Lleida goalkeeper Pau Torres was red-carded in the fourth minute and his replacement, Fran Perales, saved the ensuing penalty from Jorge Molina. But Joan Verdu scored the next penalty in the 27th to put Betis ahead, and Molina made up for his earlier miss in the 42nd after a gaffe by Perales. Despite Betis scoring two away goals, Lleida pulled a goal back through Pere Milla in the 57th to stay in the second leg. Garrido replaced Pepe Mel on Monday with Betis bottom of the first division. Elsewhere, Algeciras rallied to draw 1-1 against Real Sociedad, 10-man Sevilla won 1-0 at Racing Santander, and Elche has the edge after drawing 2-2 at Villarreal in a matchup of topflight clubs. Rayo Vallecano and Valladolid drew 0-0 in the other topflight matchup. http://www.therangersfanshop.com/Walt-Tkaczuk-Jersey/ . -- Police say they responded to an argument at 49ers lineman Ray McDonalds home in San Jose three months before his arrest there on suspicion of domestic violence. http://www.therangersfanshop.com/Wayne-Gretzky-Jersey/ . Mike Shanahan looked like a beaten man, one who might be counting down his final days with the Washington Redskins. That was no thin line separating winning and losing when the Chiefs beat the Redskins 45-10 Sunday. It was a chasm. The Chiefs (10-3) broke their three-game skid by doing what they did so well during their 9-0 start -- beat up on a bad team. They scored on their first four possessions, sacked Robert Griffin III five times and Kirk Cousins once, and returned both a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown in Sundays 45-10 rout. All of which prompted Reid to go off-topic, even in his usual monotone. "Sporting KC, Im telling you its hard to be a champion right? And they did it. Im proud of those guys," said Reid, referring to the team back home that won the MLS Cup on Saturday. "I didnt mention Nelson Mandelas death the other day, but what a tribute to mankind he is." OK, but what about getting back on track after two losses to the Denver Broncos sandwiched around a defeat to the San Diego Chargers? "Its tough to lose three games in the National Football League, three consecutive games. It seems like a year, those are dog years as you would say -- each week that you have a loss in the NFL," Reid said. "For the guys to come back and rebound after that, I was proud of that." Across the way, the Redskins were their usual drama machine. They lost their fifth straight, and the stadium was virtually empty in the second half. Its already far from certain as to whether Shanahan will return for a fifth season, and now theres a report that he was close to quitting last year because of his relationships with owner Dan Snyder and Griffin. "Its not the right time or place to talk about my relationship with Dan Snyder, or its not the right time and place to talk about something that happened a year ago," Shanahan said. "Ill get a chance to talk to Dan at the end of the season, and Ill give some viewpoints from me, and Im sure hell give me his thoughts and what direction well go." Shanahan did concedee that Sundays loss -- the Redskins fifth by double digits this season -- was his fault. http://www.therangersfanshop.com/Derek-Stepan-Jersey/. "I didnt have the players ready to play," Shanahan said. The first quarter was so lopsided that nearly all the footprints in the snow were on one side of the 50. That discrepancy was quickly corrected when the teams changed sides. The score was 38-10 at halftime. Quintin Demps immediately answered the lone Redskins touchdown with a 95-yard kickoff return that resembled at times a winter stroll, part of a stunning tally of 321 return yards by Kansas City in the first half alone. Alex Smith completed 14 of 20 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Jamaal Charles ran 19 times for 151 yards and a score, and his 35-yard, right-then-left scamper was a highlight of the second half. "You gotta go out there and play no matter what kind of conditions outside," Charles said. "Sleet, snow -- you gotta go." Tamba Hali and Tyson Jackson each had a pair of sacks, and Derrick Johnson set up a touchdown with a 40-yard interception return. Dexter McCluster took a punt 74 yards for a score and set up another TD with a 57-yard return. Fans mostly deserted Washingtons first snowy home game in decades, and those that stayed had plenty to boo. The Chiefs took the opening kickoff and gained 8, 9, 22 and 13 yards on their first four plays. The Redskins were a team with nothing to play for, and they looked like it. Shanahan eventually pulled the plug on Griffin, inserting Cousins for the final quarter. "Its a terrible game to be a part of," Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo said. NOTES: The runbacks by Demps and McCluster gave the Chiefs 10 return touchdowns this season. ... Griffin went 12 for 26 for 164 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Alfred Morris ran for 31 yards on 12 carries, putting him over 1,000 yards for the season. ... The Chiefs went 4-0 this season vs. the NFC East, Reids old division from his years with the Philadelphia Eagles. ... Redskins RB Evan Royster was carted off the field in the first half with a severely sprained left ankle. ... Chiefs CB Marcus Cooper left with a bruised back. PYONGYANG, North Korea -- Former NBA star Dennis Rodman arrived in North Korea on Thursday to meet leader Kim Jong Un and put the finishing touches on plans to bring 12 ex-NBA players to Pyongyang for a Jan. Antoine Vermette Jersey . 8 exhibition game marking the leaders birthday. Rodman said the game is on track despite the recent execution of Kims uncle in a dramatic political purge. Rodmans visit comes less than a week after North Korea announced the execution of Jang Song Thaek, an unprecedented fall from grace for one of the most powerful figures in the country. Jangs execution sparked speculation by foreign analysts over the future of the Kim regime. But officials in Pyongyang say Jangs removal has not caused any instability. Rodmans visit -- should it proceed uneventfully -- could be a sign that Kim is firmly in charge. Rodman told The Associated Press in a brief interview at his Pyongyang hotel that he was undaunted by the recent political events. "I cant control what they do with their government, I cant control what they say or how they do things here," he said. "Im just trying to come here as a sports figure and try to hope I can open the door for a lot of people in the country." Rodman and Kim have struck up an unlikely friendship since the Hall of Famer travelled to the secretive state for the first time in February with the Harlem Globetrotters for an HBO series produced by New York-based VICE television. He remains the highest-profile American to meet Kim since the leader inherited power from his father, Kim Jong Il, in 2011. "Ive come over to see my friend, and people always give me a little hard time about me saying that," said Rodman, who was given the red carpet treatment at the airport by Vice Sports Minister Son Kwang Ho and O Hun Ryong, secretary-general of the North Korean Basketball Association. "Im very proud to say hes my friend, because he hasnt done anything to put a damper, to say any negative things about my country." Rodman has not yet announced the roster for the game. He is also expected to train North Korean basketball players during his several-day stay in Pyongyang and to meet with Kim, though he did not give any details about what his plans are. He said, however, that if after the 12 former NBA players go home they say "some really, really nice things, some really cool things about this country," then he has done his job. Known as much for his piercings, tattoos and bad behaviour as he was for basketball, Rodman has mostly avoided politics in his dealings with the North. Hes mainly focused on using basketball as a means of boosting understanding and communication and studiously avoided commenting on the Norths human rights record or its continued detainment of an American, Kenneth Bae, for allegedly committing anti-state crimes. "North Korea has given me the opportunity to bring these players and their families over here, so people can actually see, so these players can actually see, that this country is actually not as bad as people project it to be in the media," he said. Butler served as the teams linebackers coach the past 12 years and replaces legendary defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, who resigned on Jan. 10. Its the dream of a lifetime, said Butler on Tuesday. There are only 32 of these jobs on this Earth. I am excited about the opportunity and I look forward to getting this process started immediately. Prior to joining the Steelers, Butler was linebackers coach for the Cleveland Browns for four years. He has also served as defensive coordinator for Arkansas State University and linebackers/defensive ends coach at the University of Memphis, where he and current Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin were on the same coaching staff in 1996. We are excited to announce Keith Butler as our defensive coordinator, said Tomlin in a statement Tuesday. Keith has been an integral part of our defensive game planning and schemes for several years and we look forward to him moving into the role of calling the defense. His passion and energy will be important to us taking the next steps to being one of the top defenses in the NFL. Butler was a three-year starting linebacker at Memphis, leading the team in tackles his junior and senior year. He was a second-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 1978 and played 10 seasons with Seattle, where he still ranks second all-time in franchise history with 813 tackles. Check out todays trade-related reports and speculation from around the NHL beat. And follow TSN.ca through Deadline Day for all the updates. Mystery Men The Ottawa Senators are trying to get down to business, theyre just having start-up issues. Senators general manager Bryan Murray told The Ottawa Sun he was close to a minor trade that would have brought the Senators a forward, but that the deal was taken off the table prior to completion. "We had a couple of teams I was talking fairly serious to about a smaller type deal that would add one player to our team, but it doesnt appear its going to happen at this point," Murray said. The Sun surmises the Senators are still looking for a winger to play with Jason Spezza and that the Sens still covet Mississauga-native Matt Moulson. Waiting on Bolland The Toronto Maple Leafs may be looking to add bodies before the deadline as they cling to third in the Atlantic Division, but much of their activity may well depend on the return of Dave Bolland. Bollands eventual return - whether before or after the Olympic break &ndassh; will necessitate some roster movement on its own, with the Toronto Star reporting that at least two players will need to be moved to get down to the 23-man roster limit. Cheap Womens Nike Air Max 90 Sneakers. However, his return could also move some salary cap dominoes, especially with the team having added Tim Gleason into the mix over the duration of Bollands rehab. The Star report points toward the Leafs recent resurgence in secondary scoring as one factor to consider before any possible addition as well as managements stated belief in the teams depth. Addition and Subtraction? The Buffalo Sabres - currently 30th overall in the National Hockey League - will undoubtedly be busy at the deadline, but will they exclusively be in sell-off mode? The Buffalo News notes that should the team pull the trigger on a deal to move long-time starting netminder Ryan Miller, the team may also have to consider adding to its options in net for both the present and future. Jhonas Enroth is 1-10-5 and hasnt won since Oct. 25. The Buffalo News states that if new general manager Tim Murray is not confident he can win with Enroth moving forward, the Sabres could be in the market for a goalie. CHICAGO -- Dave Bolland got an unlikely assist and the Chicago Blackhawks won in their return to the United Center after a long road trip. New Balance 574 Hombre . Bollands centring attempt in the third hit the stick of St. Louis leading scorer David Backes and went in the net for the go-ahead score Sunday as Chicago rallied with three final-period goals for a 3-1 victory over the Blues. "I saw Kaner (Patrick Kane) just to my left and tried to get it to him and it went off Backes," Bolland said. "Ill take it. Those are the kind of goals we need. We cant wait for pretty ones." Chicago couldnt solve St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott for the first two periods as he was working on his second straight shutout. But Duncan Keith scored a tying goal on a one-timer and then Bolland -- or Backes -- put the Blackhawks ahead. Marian Hossa added an empty-netter with 49 seconds left. The Blackhawks, coming off a nine-game road trip in which they won only two games, captured their third straight victory. The modest streak comes on the heels of a nine-game losing skid. Corey Crawford made 29 saves in Chicagos first home game since Jan. 24 Andy McDonald scored in the first for the Blues and it looked as if Elliott would make it hold up. He entered the game leading the NHL with a 1.55 goals-against average. Bolland took a pass from Keith at the left side of the net and directed the puck toward the goal. It hit Backes stick and went in at 13:03 of the period to make it 2-1, sending the crowd into a frenzy. "Tough luck but we should have had it out of the zone before that," Backes said. "You dont make plays to get it and I put one in the back of our net. ... We let them hang around, hang around. Id like to have that back. Ells played fantastic in nets and he deserves better." Keith earlier took a pass from Patrick Sharp and sent a screaming one-timer from the slot past Elliott, tying the game at 4:52 of the final period. "I didnt even see him. There were bodies there and sometimes those just squeak through the crowd," said Elliott, who finished with 24 saves. And on Bollands goal, he had no problem with where Backes was positioned. "Its probably where he should be, just taking away the pass across and just a bad bounce," Elliott added. Shortly after Keiths tying goal in the third, two Blackhawks crashed into Crawford as he was stopping a shot by McDonald and the collision dislodged the net before the puck crossed the line. Another video review followed and the call on the ice of no goal was upheld. During a scrum in front of the Chicago goal with 24 seconds left in the first period, the Blues Jamie Langenbrunner kicked the puck toward the goal and McDonald nudged it in past Crawford, a score upheld by video review. St. Louis has allowed the fewest goals in the league, tied with the Rangers at 114 entering the game. And the Blues made it tough for Chicago to generate any offence, outshooting the Blackhawks 15-4 in that first period. "Theyre always thinking defence. Its not a wide-open game," Keith said. "We stuck with it. We learned a lot in that losing streak and brought those lessons to this game. We were able to play a patient game and win it." McDonald, who missed 51 games this season with a concussion, scored for the third time since his return a week ago. He nearly converted earlier in the first with the Blues short-handed. NOTES: Chicago is 2-1 against the Blues this season and the teams meet three more times. ... St. Louis G Jaroslav Halak, whod been slowed by flu-like symptoms, was scratched from the lineup for a second straight game. .... Blackhawks D Niklas Hjalmarsson missed his sixth straight game with an upper body injury. He skated Sunday and will be re-evaluated for Tuesday nights game against the Red Wings, coach Joel Quenneville said. New Balance 990 Made In Usa . The No. 8 seed from Thornhill, Ont., rebounded nicely after dropping a first-set tiebreaker in the 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-1 victory. "I did a lot of things well today," Raonic said. "I had the discipline I needed when things were not going so well. "I played a clean match, on a lot of his service games I was creating opportunities for myself." Raonic, who had a first-round bye, fired 19 aces and completed the win in just under two hours in cool, windy conditions. He had three set point opportunities in the opening set but couldnt convert. "Even losing the first set, I still had chances in his service games," he said. "During the rest of the match on every game on his serve I was at least getting close. "I felt at ease despite the situation after the end of the first set." The Canadian rallied in the second set with an early break to lead for 2-0, eventually taking a 5-2 lead and serving it out to pull even. He ran away with the third set for the win. Raonic will next play No. 11 Tommy Robredo of Spain, who earned a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 win over Julien Benneteau of France. "My goal is to do as well as I can this clay season and better than I did last year," said Raonic. "My main focus will be on the tournaments in Madrid and Paris." Also Wednesday, Roger Federer was happier than eight-time champion Rafael Nadal after their straight-sets wins to reach the third round. Federer took just 52 minutes to beat veteran Radek Stepanek 6-1, 6-2, while Nadal overcame a rusty start to put away Teymuraz Gabashvili 6-4, 6-1. The top-seeded Nadal, who lost the title to Novak Djokovic last year, dropped his opening service game and trailed 3-1 in the first set. But from 4-4, the Spaniard reeled off six straight games, then the Russian qualifier broke his serve again. "I think I started little bit slow," Nadal said. "But he was playing very, very aggressive, hitting very strong, with no mistakes." Nadals body language suggested he was far from happy with his performance. At times he looked glum-faced, other times annoyed with his shots. Ryane Clowe Devils Jersey. His serve was vulnerable, too, as he conceded four break-point chances -- including in consecutive service games during the second set. He clinched victory with a crisp forehand winner. "I felt comfortable in the second set," Nadal said. "I think I was playing better. " Federer, returning to the tournament for the first time since 2011, was far more ruthless as he raced to 5-0 in 17 minutes. He improved his record against the 35-year-old Stepanek to 14-2. The Czech has not beaten Federer in six years. "A bit surprised how well it went. On clay, when you have the upper hand from the baseline, its kind of hard to get out of it," Federer said. "Thats kind of how it was for Radek. I had a good start to both sets, I was solid on my own service games. It was clearly a good match to start my clay-court campaign." The fourth-seeded Federer next plays another Czech, Lukas Rosol, who beat Frenchman Michael Llodra 6-4, 6-4, while Nadal plays Italian Andreas Seppi, who won 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-4 against Spaniard Pablo Andujar. Federer has never won Monte Carlo, losing in three straight finals to Nadal from 2006-08. They cant meet again until the final. Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka, seeded third, was slightly faster than Federer, needing only 46 minutes to thrash Marin Cilic of Croatia 6-0, 6-2. "I expected a more difficult first round against him. I felt good on the court," Wawrinka said. "I know that if I feel good physically, then I am able to put a lot of pressure on my opponent." No. 10 Fabio Fognini of Italy, No. 11 Tommy Robredo, No. 12 Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria and No. 15 Nicolas Almagro -- both Spanish -- also advanced to the third round. Raonic rallied to beat Lu Yen-Hsun of Taiwan 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-1; Fognini downed Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain 7-6 (6), 6-4; Robredo won 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 against Julien Benneteau of France; Dimitrov downed Spaniard Albert Ramos 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and Almagro beat Nicolas Mahut, 7-6 (3), 6-3. Grand Prix Hassan II winner Guillermo Garcia-Lopez beat No. 17 Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-1, 7-5, and Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta next faces defending champion Novak Djokovic after winning 6-3, 7-6 (6) against Gael Monfils. The Senators also are just three points ahead of ninth-place Winnipeg, which plays Monday in Buffalo. The Sens hold a game in hand over both the Jets and Rangers, who are idle on Monday. Ottawa is 0-1-1 against the Penguins this season, as it dropped a home shootout decision to Pittsburgh on Jan. 27 before getting beat by a 4-2 score in a Feb. 13 meeting in the Steel City. The regulation loss in Pittsburgh was also the last game for Ottawa defenseman and reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson, who suffered a severe laceration to his left Achilles when he got clipped by the skate of Pittsburghs Matt Cooke. Karlsson was cleared for contact on Friday and he could return to the lineup before the end of the regular season. Karlsson, who has six goals and four assists in 14 games this season, was originally expected to miss six months of action due to the cut, but he shocked everyone by resuming skating three weeks ago. Senators general manager Bryan Murray said Karlsson will be back in the lineup once he returns to game shape. Ottawa had won four in a row before dropping Saturdays 4-1 decision to Toronto in the third test of a four-game homestand. James van Riemsdyk scored twice and James Reimer frustrated the Sens with 49 saves to help the Maple Leafs secure their first playoff berth since 2004. Jakob Silfverberg netted the lone Ottawa goal, while Craig Anderson allowed all four goals on 22 shots for the Senators. "We have four games left but to me it has been a sprint since January 19," Ottawa coach Paul MacLean said of his teams push toward the postseason. "If we come back and do this again Monday night (against Pittsburgh) well get a better result." Ottawa, which will play two of its final three games of the regular season on the road, is 15-4-3 at Scotiabank Place this season. Jussi Jokinen scored a goal and set up a pair of power-play tallies in the third period to lift the Penguins to Saturdays 3-2 victory over the Bruins at TD Garden. Jokinen has four goals and four assists in six games since being acquired at the trade deadline from Carolina. The Bruins and Pens were set to play Friday night, but the game was postponed because of the day-long manhunt for the second Boston Marathon bomb suspect who was taken into custody Friday night. Pittsburgh was slated to play at home Saturday night against Buffalo, but that game was shifted to Tuesday. Jarome Iginla and Kris Letang scored in the third period for the Penguins, who have won six in a row and 21 of their last 23 games. Tomas Vokoun made 38 saves in the victory. Iginla has three goals in nine games with the Penguins since being acquired from Calgary in late March. He was booed every time he touched the puck, as the Bruins initially thought they had a deal with the Flames before he was shipped to Pittsburgh. "I wasnt surprised," Iginla said of the crowd reaction. "Its a great sports city. At the time I was very humbled and flattered both teams were interested in me." Pittsburgh is playing its second-to-last road game of the regular season tonight. The Pens have identical 17-5-0 records at home and on the road in 2013. Letang is a game-time decision for tonight after missing practice on Sunday due to illness. The Sens and Pens have split the last eight encounters in this series, but Ottawa has claimed four of the last six tilts at Scotiabank Place. MILAN, Italy -- A last-minute goal saw Inter Milan fall to a 2-1 defeat at home to Atalanta in Serie A on Sunday and lose pace in the race for a European place. Giacomo Bonaventura scored his second goal of the match with 10 seconds remaining after Inter had hit the woodwork three times in an entertaining second half. Mauro Icardi had cancelled out Bonaventuras goal within 60 seconds in the first half. Inter remained fifth and is level on points with Parma, which earlier drew 1-1 against Genoa and has a game in hand. Hellas Veronas European bid was dented again as it lost 5-0 at Sampdoria. Elsewhere, Udinese beat Sassuolo 1-0 and Bologna won a relegation fight against Cagliari by the same score. Fourth-placed Fiorentina, which is a point ahead of Inter and Parma, visits Napoli later. Also Sunday, Lazio hosts AC Milan and leader Juventus visits bottom club Catania. Atalanta started the brighter at San Siro and Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic pulled off several good saves, while German Denis headed Bonaventuras cross off the crossbar. The visitors broke the deadlock in the 35th minute as Maxi Moralez rolled the ball across for Bonaventura to finish off a rapid counterattack. But Inter was immediately level when Icardi latched onto Fredy Guarins through ball and cut across Mario Yepes before firing into the bottom left corner. To celebrate he held up a T-shirt dedicated to his girlfriend Wanda Nera, the ex-wife of former Sampdoria teammate Maxi Lopez. Inter should have sealed the match in the second half but Guarin smashed a shot off the crossbar and Rodrigo Palacioo sent a glancing header onto the left upright. Tristan Thompson Jersey. Both sides could have snatched the win. Inters Jonathan cleared off the line three minutes from time before chipping the ball off the underside of the crossbar at the other end. Atalanta secured the result when Bonaventura was left completely unmarked at the far post to head a free kick between Handanovics legs. Parma maintained its charge toward a European spot as it extended its club record unbeaten run to 17 matches. Genoa took the lead against the run of play in the 21st when Isaac Cofie drilled Moussa Konates through ball across Parma goalkeeper Antonio Mirante. Parma levelled 10 minutes later. Genoa failed to deal properly with a free kick and Ezequiel Schelotto fired a powerful shot into the top corner. Verona looked on course for a European spot at the turn of the year but has only won one of its past 11 games and fell to a third consecutive loss. Sampdoria took the lead in the fourth minute when Renans effort crashed off the bottom of the right post and Gianluca Sansone was on hand for the tap in. Renan then got on the scoresheet himself before a double for Roberto Soriano. Angelo Palombo added the fifth. At Udinese, captain Antonio Di Natale scored his 10th goal of the season to ensure he reached double figures in goals for the eighth consecutive season. It was a good way to mark his 324th league appearance for Udinese -- a new club record. Di Natale could have had a second but kicked up a chunk of turf as he ballooned a penalty over the bar. Sassuolo also missed a penalty kick. Cheap China Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China China NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China ' ' '

PAUL, Minn. - The NHLs motion to dismiss a class-action lawsuit brought by former players over concussion-related injuries was heard in court Thursday, and the federal judge assigned to the case said she saw legal strength in the arguments from both sides.I think its a very close call, to be honest, U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson said, near the end of the five-hour hearing.Nelson didnt make a ruling. She gave no timetable for her decision. The former players have been seeking unspecified financial damages and NHL-funded medical monitoring for neurological disorders, alleging the league had the knowledge and resources to better prevent head trauma, failed to properly warn players of such risks and promoted violent play that led to their injuries. The case is similar to that of the former NFL players who received at least $765 million through a tentative settlement to cover nearly 20,000 players over 65 years. This combination of several lawsuits by more than 200 former NHL players was formally filed in October. As a class-action complaint, the litigation effectively covers the estimated 5,000 living former NHL players. Dan LaCouture, Michael Peluso, Gary Leeman, Bernie Nicholls, David Christian and Reed Larson are the former players serving as six class representatives.Attorneys for the NHL made two arguments for dismissal of the lawsuit: pre-emption and statute of limitations. The gist is that the leagues collective bargaining agreement with the players should pre-empt the claim, subjecting the dispute to the National Labor Relations Board, and that a tort claim such as this cannot be made past the six-year window for raising them.Lawyers for the players countered that the CBA no longer applies to retired players, who didnt know at the time of their injuries how they would eventually affect them.In making the point for dismissal on the statute of limitations, NHL attorney John Beisner referred to expansive details on concussion-related trouble for the players that took up significant space in the original complaint. The leagues argument is thatt the players cant pick and choose by claiming post-career injuries without alluding to the long-ago dates those first hits to the head occurred. Nike Air Jordan Uk Sale. What is the aha event here that starts the clock running again? Beisner said.In arguing against the statute of limitations for the players and their claims, attorney Mark Bradford said the issue isnt simply about concussions that occurred immediately after hits to the head on the ice. Its about permanent neurological problems that arose later, he said. The lawsuit blames the NHL for taking no action to reduce the number and severity of concussions during a study period from 1997 to 2004. The penalty for targeting a players head wasnt instituted until 2010.The leagues argument to that is the information on head trauma is available to the public. It wrote previously that players should have been able to put two and two together to realize the risks. Bradford argued for the players that the message, then, is they should have double-checked the NHLs work in the concussions study.NHL attorney Joseph Baumgarten argued for the CBA precedence. If players suffered a concussion during their careers, Baumgarten said, they were covered then by the CBA even though retirees arent. No examination of the league-player relationship, he said, can take place without recognizing the CBA.Stephen Grygiel, an attorney for the players, argued that retirees have no post-career leverage in negotiating CBA terms. Since brain injuries came to light later, coverage of their concussions by the CBA was moot. They could not go to the union then or seek representation for a claim they didnt know they had, Grygiel said.Nelson was the judge who temporarily lifted the NFL lockout in 2011, ruling against that league. She asked the most questions Thursday regarding the dispute about whether or not the CBA should take precedence in this case. At one point, when Baumgarten referred to the NFL Players Associations past decertification in order to bring forward a class-action lawsuit, Nelson said, I know a little bit about that. PITTSBURGH -- Getting to . http://www.thenflapparelsshop.com/Cincinnati-Bengals-Will-Clarke-Jersey/ .500 certainly is not the ultimate goal for a franchise that has been to the post-season in three of the last four seasons. Considering the Cincinnati Reds started the year at 3-8, however, they were happy to get their record to 11-11 on Thursday. Ryan Ludwick lined a two-run double after two batters were hit by pitches, lifting Tony Cingrani and the Reds over the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1. The Reds won for the seventh time in nine games. "Three series wins in a row, back to .500," Ludwick said. "The pitching was outstanding. Pitching wins championships and those guys did an outstanding job. If we keep getting pitching like that, were going to be back in this thing in a hurry." The Pirates have lost six of seven, scoring a total of 22 runs in that span. Cingrani (2-2) allowed one run and six hits in six innings. He struck out seven and walked two. Logan Ondrusek, Sam LeCure and Jonathan Broxton pitched one scoreless inning each in relief of Cingrani. Broxton recorded his fourth save. "Certainly a great series here," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "We had to battle -- they pitched us tough, as they always do. Theyve got a good squad, and some way we found a way to grind out three victories here. Im really proud of the boys." Ludwicks double in the sixth drove in Joey Votto and Todd Frazier. Both of them were plunked by rookie Brandon Cumpton (0-1), promoted from Triple-A earlier in the day. "It was great because we were starting to get a little irritated because we had three hit batters in the game and a couple of our guys got squared up pretty good," Price said. "I dont think there was any intent to it, but the fact his two-run double followed the third hit by pitch had a little bit more sweetness to it for sure," he said. Cumpton gave up just two runs in seven innings while taking the rotation spot of lefty Wandy Rodriguez, put on the disabled list Monday with inflammation in his left knee. Cumpton held the Reds to four hits while walking one and striking out five, but also hit three batters. He had a string of 20 consecutive scoreless innings in the major leagues, dating to last season, until Ludwick snapped it. "I was feeling good, trying to attack guys and be aggressive," Cumpton said. "Unfortunately, I let a couple of pitches get away." Ludwick had two of the Reds five hits. Neil Walker got two of Pittsburghs seven hits. The Pirates scored in the first inning when Pedro Alvarez singled in Walker, who had drawn a walk. Pittsburgh left eight runners on base as it fell a season-worst five games under .500 at 9-14 a year after both making the post-season and having a winning record for the first time since 1992. "We cant worry about where we are right now," Pirates centre fielder Andrew McCutchen said. "We know were going to be better. Were going to learn as a team and keep pushing forward." "Its having a trust in one another, having each others backs. Weve just to keep working on things." NOTES: Reds CF Billy Hamilton was caught stealing as a pinch runner. To clear roster space, Toronto optioned infielder Jonathan Diaz to Buffalo and designated outfielder Moises Sierra for assignment. "Just looking to beef up the offence a little bit, and add a little team speed, something we dont have a lot of," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. The 23-year-old Gose was in the starting lineup Thursday night, batting ninth and playing left field in place of Melky Cabrera, who left Wednesday nights game when he was hit by a pitch. Cabrera walked through the clubhouse with his bruised left shin tightly wrapped but without a noticeable limp, and Gibbons said its possible he could pinch hit against the Royals. Gibbons also said its possible he could play Friday night when Toronto opens a series in Pittsburghh. http://www.thenflapparelsshop.com/Pittsburgh-Steelers-Louis-Lipps-Jersey/. "Hes doing better," Gibbons said. "He got hit pretty good, but theres no crack (in the bone) or anything like that. He just got hit square." Gose has spent parts of three seasons with the Blue Jays, hitting .238 with three homers and 23 RBIs in 109 games. Hes known for his speed but also his strikeout rate, and Gibbons said Gose must get that under control if hes going to stick as the clubs fourth outfielder. "When it comes down to the big leagues, its about production," Gibbons said. "Thats why its so hard to make the big leagues for any length of time. Guys go up and down." Tolleson, who was hitting .236 in 19 games for Buffalo, provides some versatility with the Blue Jays heading into interleague play. He has played in both the infield and outfield, though Gibbons said its likely he will platoon with Chris Getz at second base. "Maybe get a little more offence out of that spot," Gibbons said. "Hope he does something." Cheap China Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China China NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap Jerseys China ' ' '

SUNRISE, Fla. Carson Tinker Jaguars Jersey . -- When Roberto Luongo learned he wouldnt be starting the Heritage Classic, the disappointed goaltender asked agent Pat Brisson to call Vancouver Canucks general manager Mike Gillis just to get a read on his future. When Gillis gave Brisson permission to seek out a potential trade partner for the goalie and his massive contract, the attention turned quickly to the Panthers -- and not just because Luongo calls South Florida home. "It had to be a hockey move," Brisson said. "Roberto wants to play, wants to win. He wants to compete and win. ... When Roberto asked me, I said, I do believe that theres a light at the end of the tunnel for (the Panthers)," Brisson said. "I do believe theres a place where this team is going to go in the right direction." While the Canucks head in the direction of a rebuild, the Panthers look like a team on the upward climb thanks to new owner Vinny Viola and a cadre of young prospects GM Dale Tallon has assembled in the NHLs southernmost market. Through two games with his new team, Luongo has already caught a glimpse of what he and many hockey people believe is a bright future for the Panthers. Luongo sees potential stars in Jonathan Huberdeau, Nick Bjugstad and a handful more young players around the locker-room. At 34 years old, he wants to contribute to the revival of the franchise rather than riding coattails. "Its all about making a commitment to bringing some people in and trying to build a winner," Luongo said Sunday night after facing the Boston Bruins. "Thats what its all about for me. Im not here to fade into the sunset. I want to be part of something special coming here." Something special in the short term might just mean making the playoffs after missing in 11 of the past 12 seasons. Even as the Panthers head toward another early off-season, Bjugstad hopes its just "growing pains" as part of an important learning experience. Thats to be expected for a team whose top players include 18-year-old Aleksander Barkov, 20-year-old Huberdeau, and 22-year-old Erik Gudbranson. Players were on a bus in Boston when they found out Luongo was coming and represented something of a safety valve for mistakes of youth. "Any time you can have a solid goaltender behind you, it gives you confidence that you can make some plays," said 20-year-old forward Vincent Trocheck, who made his Panthers debut the same game Luongo returned. "If you do make a mistake, you know that hes back there to save your butt, basically." Yet in the larger scope, Luongo is not being asked to save a franchise by himself. It is, however, Tallons hope that trading for him "sets the tone" for the organization. The message of taking on the final eight-plus years and over US$28 million of Luongos contract was that the Panthers are willing to spend. Hours after making the move, Tallon said it was about making good on all the talk about wanting to win a Stanley Cup because "talk is cheap." Doing so could be expensive, but its not out of the realm of possibility that Florida has a better chance of winning a Cup in the next four or five years than Vancouver. "You never know," Luongo said. "Its tough to say. You hope so. Thats why Im here. I think the pieces are definitely here, just a matter of making sure that we bring the right piece to complement these young guys that are talented and theyre going to be stars in this league." Tallon has a plan. After already taking the goaltending gamble that was Jacob Markstrom out of the equation and getting Luongo, he has his sights set on signing, drafting or trading for two power wingers to support Barkov, Huberdeau, Bjugstad and Trocheck. The Panthers payroll is the lowest in the league at just over US$50 million, but with Viola in charge, Tallon expects to be "a cap team or close to a cap team" next season. Having almost $30 million of cap space could help the Panthers continue down the path to being a contender, but it also helps to have Luongo as a salesman and a symbol of the clubs all-out push to get better. "Its hard to recruit anybody if they dont think youre doing the right thing," Tallon said. "I think the commitment of making that deal and the commitment that Vinny Violas going to make ... will really influence a lot of decisions as far as players wanting to come here, seeing that were really committed to winning." Luongo didnt keep close tabs on the Panthers rebuild while he was playing for the Canucks because he didnt expect to get traded, let alone back to Florida. But Brisson, who just negotiated a two-year extension for winger Brad Boyes, had a good sense of what was happening. New ownership meant a new opportunity for Luongo. "If it was back to the former ownership where they werent sure what they wanted to spend, what they wanted to do, I wouldnt have recommended it at the time -- absolutely not," Brisson said. "If you look at good ownership and willingness to spend and the right chef, so to speak, the right cook in the kitchen, its an attractive place for Roberto and the players that are there." Tallon is that chef, and he has quite the recipe on his resume. Even though Stan Bowman was the general manager when the Blackhawks won the 2010 Stanley Cup, Tallon orchestrated much of the turnaround in Chicago. "It went well for them," Bjugstad said. "Thats kind of what were banking on." For every Blackhawks success story theres another example like the Edmonton Oilers, who are set to miss the playoffs for the eighth straight season despite three straight No. 1 picks and six in the top 10. They provide a cautionary tale for the Panthers, even as Tallon rattles off prospect after prospect who could make a difference. Each one of those young, unproven players represents essentially a raffle ticket for Florida, another chance to hit it big. But theres plenty of risk and uncertainty in that. "Obviously weve got to prove ourselves before we can get too excited," Bjugstad said. "Theres a ways to go." In Luongo, the young Panthers get a goalie who is already established. Even if his play is not Vezina Trophy-calibre, he could instill plenty of confidence on and off the ice. "I think maybe as more of an experienced guy in the locker-room to bring whatever I have learned over the years and maybe help them out along the way as far as just being a pro and all that kind of stuff to help their development," Luongo said. That team-wide development and progression toward a playoff team is still in the "early" stages, according to Tallon. Luongos addition speeds it up, but theres still no set goal on when he figures the Panthers will get over the hump. "I dont put numbers on that," he said. "I just let the players start to develop and see when theyre ready to make a real hit on the team as far as moving forward. And when they all come together as a group, as a team, not just in a group of individuals, thats when you pretty well know when youve got something special." Chris Ivory Jersey . -- Former British Open champion Darren Clarke has withdrawn from the Masters because of a hamstring injury. Julius Thomas Jersey . But its also a smart game. Theres more to the Kings than banging bodies. They take a toll mentally on their opponents. http://www.thejaguarslockroom.com/Youth-Roy-Miller-Elite-Jersey/ . With their second-round pick in Saturdays NHL draft at No. 36, the Canucks took the highest-ranked goalie on the board, Thatcher Demko, as new general manager Jim Benning begins the process of replenishing the organizations goaltending depth. CLEVELAND -- A trip to Progressive Field last month began a downward spiral for the Detroit Tigers. Their return visit could signal the start of a significant reversal. Max Scherzer pitched six strong innings, Miguel Cabrera homered and drove in three runs, and the Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 10-4 on Sunday for a three-game sweep. The Tigers, swept in a three-game series at Cleveland in May, have won four in a row overall and reclaimed first place in the AL Central. "Were playing good baseball right now," Scherzer said. "If we play good baseball and do the little things right, were as good as any team in the American League. Thats what we did this series." The first trip to Cleveland began a 9-20 tailspin that dropped the Tigers out of first place for the first time this season. Manager Brad Ausmus is pleased his team finally seems to be out of its funk. "We played well here," he said. "Were playing better, obviously, but Im not going to make any declarations that anything is starting or finishing." Scherzer (9-3) bounced back from one of the worst outings of his career. The reigning AL Cy Young winner allowed 10 runs in four innings against Kansas City on Tuesday. Scherzer gave up one run and six hits, striking out eight. He was struck in the side of the right leg by Lonnie Chisenhalls line drive in the sixth, but recovered to throw him out and completed the inning. "That one hurt," Scherzer said. "He hit it good. My leg is planted into the ground, so it has no give. I wore the whole thing." Ausmus and a team trainer checked on Scherzer, who quickly indicated he wanted to remain in the game. Nick Swisher doubled, but David Murphy grounded out and Scherzer pumped his fist as he headed to the dugout. "His velocity actually went up after that," Ausmus said. Cabrera hit his 13th homer in the first, added an RBI single in the third and drove in a run with a grounder in the fifth when Detroit scored seven times. Josh Tomlin (4-5) allowed eight runs in four-plus innings. He faced six hitters in the fifth and all reached base. Cabrera, whose RBI double in the 10th inning Saturday gave Detroit a 5-4 win, lined a full-count pitch to right after Tomlin retired the first two batters in the firstt. Myles Jack Jaguars Jersey. The Tigers took advantage of errors by shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and centre fielder Michael Bourn in taking a 9-0 lead in the fifth. "Against any team, if you give them extra opportunities, theres a decent chance you pay for it," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "They just blew it open and we helped them. They dont need the help." Singles by Ian Kinsler and Austin Jackson placed runners at the corners. Cabreras grounder scored a run -- the call of an apparent force play at second was overturned when a replay review requested by Ausmus showed the shortstop dropped the throw from Jason Kipnis before completing the out on Jackson. Bourn charged in for Victor Martinezs line drive but dropped the ball, loading the bases. J.D. Martinez, extending his hitting streak to 12 games, doubled to right before Nick Castellanos doubled to left for a 7-0 lead. Austin Romine added an RBI single off Kyle Crockett. J.D Martinez is batting .447 with four homers, five doubles and 11 RBIs in his hitting streak. Even though Torii Hunter is expected to return Tuesday in Texas after missing six games with a strained right hamstring, Martinez will remain in the lineup. "I dont see how I can take him out unless he tells he doesnt want to play or cant play," Ausmus said. Michael Brantley drove in three runs for Cleveland with an RBI double in the fifth and a two-run double in the ninth. NOTES: Cleveland has lost four of five at home since winning 10 straight at Progressive Field. ... Tomlin, who has lost three straight starts, has allowed a team-high 10 homers in 55 1-3 innings. ... The Indians committed three errors, bringing their season total to a major league-high 67. Cabrera leads the team with 14. ... ... Indians RHPs Justin Masterson and Corey Kluber have been taking batting practice and running the bases to get ready for interleague series at Arizona that begins Tuesday. ... Tigers LHP Patrick McCoy, called up from Triple-A Toledo following Saturdays game, made his major league debut and pitched a scoreless eighth. Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. wholesale nfl jerseys .ca. Hey Kerry, Thanks for your insight on some great situations! I dont always agree with your assessment but I appreciate it. My simple question is this; since when did goalie interference become a reviewable thing? During the Hawks-Kings game 1, Toews was driving the net, got a bounce off the skate of a d-man and the pucks goes in the net. As the puck is crossing the line, Toews gets a gentle nudge from said d-man falling onto Quick, even though he did everything but levitate to avoid him. Goal called good on-ice, Toronto calls no goal for goalie interference. While it didnt matter in the end, Id still love to understand better. Thanks! JasonHouston, TX ----- Hi Kerry, I would just like to have some clarification on this disallowed goal in the Los Angeles versus Chicago Western conference game #1. The call originally was called a goal. Then when reviewed they said that there was goalie interference. Isnt the rule you cant review goalie interference? And if they called it off because of goalie interference why was there not a penalty? Thanks,Jordan Pearson ----- Kerry, Can you tell me why Jonathan Toews spectacular goal on Jonathan Quick was disallowed in second period today? Theres no doubt there was contact, but Toews received a slight push in the back on the drive to the net. Even if there was a goal disallowed by contact, I thought that call had to be made by the on ice officials. It looked from the lengthy headset conference that the call was made by Toronto. What gives? Mike Kedzierski Jason, Jordan and Mike, I can understand your confusion once referee Marc Joannettes initial decision to allow Jonathan Toews goal was reversed following discussion with the other members of the officiating crew and then a rather lengthy teleconference with the Situation Room personnel in Toronto. The correct protocol was implemented by the on-ice officials to determine that Toews goal would be disallowed based on incidental contact with Jonathan Quick in the goal crease. The officials quickly gathered for a conference just 10 seconds after Joannette pointed into the net to signal the scoring of Toews goal. The conference (protocol) became necessary because the other officials had important information to share with Joannette on how and why the puck entered the net illegally from their perspective. This play was a classic case of incidental contact with the goalkeeper that should result in no goal and no penalty under Rule 69. Toews received a lead pass through a seam that required his abrupt hard left turn toward the crease for the Hawks captain to make a scoring attempt. Slava Voynov followed close behind in pursuit and used an active stick to separate Toews from the puck a split second before Quick, positioned fully within his blue paint, pushed his paddle toward the puck and made contact with Toews skates at the edge of the crease. In spite of the contact to his skates by Quicks goal stick, Toews was in too close and going too hard (momentum) to effectively stop or avoid contact with the goalkeeper, regardless of any effort to "levitate", Jason. Voynov placed his glove on the pants of Toews after the Hawk was in flight from contacting the goal stick with his skate. Toews made significant contact with Quick inside the crease, causing the goalkeeper to be knocked laterally and allowed the puck to enter the net off the skate of Voynov. Referee Joannette was unable to observe these developments and render an initial decision on the goalkeeper interference, based on his position deep behind the goal line and against the end boards on the opposite side of the goal as Toews was attacking the net. By the time the referee had curled to the other side, the contact had long since taken place and the puck was in the net. Both linesmen rushed to the referee following his point toward the net and as Toews got up off the ice to celebrate. I am firmly convinced the goal was disallowed in the subsequent conference of officials, held at the timekeepers bench, based on the accurate information provided by the other members of the crew to referee Joannette! The system then broke down and needless confusion was created when the referee picked up the headset and engaged in a lengthy conversation with the Situation Room personnel in Toronto that lasted over a minute; even though interference on the goalkeeper is not reviewable. Beyond protocol, it is mandatory that the referee take the call when the headset is passed through the hole in the glass at the timekeepers bench and when a disputed goal has been scored. All goals are reviewed and Hockey Operations does need to be kept informed, since they have to answer questions from irate general managers (and on occasion owners). That part is reasonable and should be expected. This unusual delay however gave Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville, game broadcasters, members of the media and you (the fans) an impression that the call was reversed through video review. That impression is understandable because none of you have ever been on the other end of that headset nor have you had the direct line ring in the officials dressing room between periods. Toronto wants to know every detail and control the process where they can. If they could referee the game from mission control, Im convinced they would. Since that is not yet an option the phone line is their best source to exert and maintain control. The nature of this particular conversation however, should have been very brief and controlled by the referee. Joannette should have informed the caller on the other end of the line that, "following a conference of the four officials, it was determined that incidental contact with goalkeeper Quick by Toews took place prior to the puck entering the net. We have NO GOAL and NO PENALTY on the play!" The ref should have then handed the headset through the hole in the glass, moved back from the side boards to his broadcast position, clicked on his microphone and made the exact same announcement to the hockey world that was waiting patiently for the referees decision. cheap nfl jerseys . The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Wednesday that the team will be shutting down goaltender Ben Bishop for at least the remainder of the regular season and potentially into the playoffs. Nike Huarache Rebajas . Bishop was injured in the Lightnings 3-0 win on Tuesday night over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Early in the first period, the 27-year-old fell awkwardly on his left arm after getting his legs tangled up in an attempt to retrieve a puck. Bishop left the game and was spelled by Anders Lindback. Bishop suffered a similar injury earlier this season. On January 5, he hurt his wrist during practice and aggravated the injury later that night in a game against the Edmonton Oilers. He was diagnosed with a sprain and missed a week of action. Bishop had an MRI following Tuesday nights injury, but Lightning coach Jon Cooper says that no structural damage was detected. Cooper didnt rule out Bishop appearing "at some point" in the first round of the Atlantic Division playoffs for the Lightning in a likely match-up with the Montreal Canadiens. The Denver native is a leading Vezina candidate with a record of 37-14-1, a GAA of 2.23, a .924 save percentage and five shutouts. To replace Bishop on the active roster, the team has recalled goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. CHARLOTTE, N. Cory Harkey Jersey .C. -- Al Jefferson and the Charlotte Bobcats cant help but sneak a peek at the Eastern Conference standings every now and again. "I would be great to get in that sixth spot," Jefferson said. The reasoning if obvious: It would help the Bobcats avoid a potential first-round playoff series with Indiana or Miami. For now, the Bobcats are the seventh seed in the East, but theyre gaining ground. Charlotte took a big step on Wednesday night with Jefferson scoring 35 points and Kemba Walker adding a double-double in a 116-111 overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The win pulled the Bobcats within 1/2 games of sixth-seeded Washington, which lost Wednesday night to Phoenix, and three games behind the fifth-seeded Nets. "I think if we continue to win games everything will take care of itself, everything will work out," Jefferson said. "At this point we should be happy and blessed to be in any (playoff) spot." Walker had 20 points and 12 assists, and Chris Douglas-Roberts added 16 points, including two big jump shots in overtime. Deron Williams finished with 29 points for Brooklyn after scoring 18 in the first quarter. Joe Johnson had 18. Josh McRoberts put the Bobcats ahead for good in overtime when he cut to the basket, received a pass from Jefferson and twisted his body in midair for a reverse dunk in traffic, bringing the crowd to its feet. Douglas-Roberts and Johnson traded 3-pointers before Walker hit a 19-footer over Williams to push the lead to 114-111. Shaun Livingston missed a driving layup with 35 seconds left and the Bobcats got the ball. McRoberts was blocked on the ensuing possession, but Douglas-Roberts tracked down the loose ball and made a 20-footer from the left wing to push the lead to five and seal the victory. "I thought the defence was great, but in the end, we come up with a blocked shot, the ball bounces, and you know CDR, he makes a shot with the shot clock winding down and so everybody executed," Nets coach Jason Kidd said. "The ball just bounced their way tonight." Williams tied the game with 26.8 seconds left in regulation when he knocked down a 20-footer from the left wing. The Bobcats had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation, but the ball slipped out of Walkers hands as time expired. Douglas-Roberts joined the Bobcats in December from the NBA Developmental League and has been a reliable contributor during the teams playoff push. He saw extra minutes off the bench with Gary Neal out with an ankle injury. "Im very confident when Im on the floor and I go in there knowing I have to contribute for this team," Douglas-Roberts said. Williams set a career-high with 57 points in this same building against the Bobcats on March 4, 2012. And early on he looked like he was aiming to better the mark. Despite missing the morning shootaround with an illness, he made seven of his first eight shots, including four 3-pointers to finish with 18 points in the first quarter. The Bobcats, who have surrendered 62 points to Carmelo Anthony and 61 points to LeBron James this season, seemed intent not to allow that to happen again. They shaded their coverage to Williams in the second quarter and he was limited to only two more points before halftime. In the meantime, Jefferson was starting to heat up, scoring 22 points in the first half on 9-of-14 shooting, using a variety of low-post moves and jump hooks. "We gave him some easy ones early," Brooklyns Mason Plumlee said. "... You cant give a great scorer easy buckets early." Brooklyns Jorge Gutierrez was ejected from the game with 6:42 left in the fourth quarter after a flagrant two foul against Cody Zeller. Zeller grabbed an offensive rebound and Gutierrez came down hard with both hands on Zellers shoulders, sending the 7-footer crashing to the hardwood. "I watched the replay and it looked pretty bad -- but that wasnt my intention to do that," Gutierrez said. "Coach always says Nothing easy. Make them earn it on the free throw line. I was just trying to do a hard play." NOTES: The Bobcats are 12-7 since the All-Star break. ... Grammy Award winner Nelly took in the game from a courtside seat. ... VANCOUVER -- Toronto FC head coach Ryan Nelsen was surprised to see star striker Jermain Defoe left off Englands 23-man World Cup squad, but he knows that snub could pay dividends in the long run for their Major League Soccer outfit. Jurrell Casey Titans Jersey . Defoe failed to make England manager Roy Hodgsons team announced Monday, instead being named to a seven-man standby list that will only be used in the event of injuries in the leadup to the tournament in Brazil. The 31-year-old Defoe is healthy, scoring goals in MLS and could well take out his frustration at being left out by Hodgson on opponents in North America. "You never like to take benefit from other peoples agony, if you know what I mean," Nelsen said Tuesday. "If Jermain stays with us, hes probably going to be motivated to prove a lot of people wrong, which I suppose is nice for us." That could come as early as Wednesday night when Toronto FC visits the Vancouver Whitecaps in the second leg of the Amway Canadian Championship semifinal. Toronto holds a 2-1 lead after a victory at home in the first leg last week. Even though its a boost for his team, Nelsen also couldnt hide his disappointment. "Obviously devastated for Jermain. Its surprising," he said. "I dont know how Roy Hodgson picks his team. Its a surprising decision -- gutted for the man. I know Ive played against all those guys and I know with 10, 15 minutes to go in a World Cup, I know who Id want with the ball at his feet in front of the net." Defoe said he was stunned not to be heading to Brazil after figuring into all but two of Hodgsons matchday squads prior to this announcement. "I was shocked, like you can imagine," Defoe said after training at B.C. Place Stadium. "Especially when youve been involved in every squad, and then for some reason youre not included. But (I) always remain positive and just continue doing what Im doing. Ive come over here and done exactly what I used to do at home and thats play well and score goals." A veteran of the 2010 World Cup who has scored 19 times in 55 games for his country, Defoe added that he didnt think his move from the English Premier League to MLS had anything to do with Hodgsons decision. "Ive been here two months. Does it really change much? I dont think so," he said. "I mentioned before the squad was announced that the manager, he knows most of the players, even before he was manager. He knows the players. I think the fact of me being here two months, that shouldnt play a factor at all." England is bringing four strikers to the World Cup, including Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Welbeck and Rickie Lambert. Defoe said that despite this disappointment, he will remain available for England selection. "Im not going to retire (from the national team) just because someone doesnt put me in a squad," he said. "I would never do that. I would never turn my back on my country because I still feel like Ive got a lot to offer. The games Ive played and just being involved with England over the years, its been great. "I think my record speaks for itself and Ill just try and continue to work hard and enjoy my football." Defoe will remain with Toronto FC and only join up with England if called upon. He added that Hodgson told him: "He wants to go with the young kids. Thats it." Toronto midfielder Michael Bradley, who was named to the U.S. 30-man provisional roster and will leave to meet up with the American camp after Wednesdays game in Vancouver, said he was disappointed for his club teammate. "He and I have developed a really good relationship since weve come (to Toronto), both on the field and off the field," said Bradley, who along with Defoe, joined Toronto FC in a big-money off-season deal. "Ive seen first-hand what a great player he is, what a great person he is and I know how much it meant to him, so on a personal level I know were all really disappointed for him. "Hes taken it exactly how youd expect -- committed and ready to keep going, keep fighting, keep scoring goals here and do as much as he can to help us win in Toronto." With about a month to go before the World Cup, Defoe said he will continue to work hard in MLS and see what happens. "Its still a long way to go. You never know what happens, people get injured, but at the same time if it doesnt happen, then it doesnt happen," he said. "I wish the team good luck, all the young players that are in the squad, I wish them good luck because Ive had that experience, been at a World Cup, and its the best feeling ever. Its special." 20:21ET 13-05-14 Nate Palmer Titans Jersey . -- Montee Ball acknowledges he was "a little bit" intimidated by Peyton Manning last year, something he says contributed to his slow start. Never facing a break point, the seventh-ranked Berdych broke Sijsling early in each set and secured one break in the first set, two in the second and three in the third before converting his first match point with a powerful forehand winner. NEW YORK -- Now the waiting begins for Alex Rodriguez and Major League Baseball. A-Rods grievance hearing to overturn his 211-game suspension ended Thursday when both sides rested their cases, a day after the New York Yankees third baseman angrily walked out and decided not to testify in his own defence. The sides set a schedule to file briefs by Dec. 11 and reply briefs by Dec. 21, which will close the record and submit the matter to arbitrator Fredric Horowitz. His decision on whether to uphold or alter the discipline for the three-time AL MVP likely will be made in January, a person familiar with the proceedings told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no statements were authorized. Rodriguezs lawyers already are vowing to challenge the ruling in federal court, where judges usually are reticent to overturn an arbitration decision unless there is a finding the arbitrator was biased, exceeded his authority or failed to comply with the rules agreed to by the parties. The exact timing of a decision is uncertain. Baseballs Joint Drug Agreement states the arbitrator shall make "all reasonable efforts" to close the record in time to permit a decision within 25 days of the start of the hearing. But in this case, the hearing began Sept. 30, making that timetable impossible to meet. After the arbitrator renders his decision, the written opinion is to be issued within 30 days. It is unclear if Horowitz will issue his written opinion simultaneously with his decision. The timing of the case could complicate planning for the Yankees, who dont know if they will have to pay Rodriguez his $25 million salary and are unsure whether they will need a different starting third baseman. Rodriguez was suspended by MLB on Aug. 5 for alleged violations of baseballs drug policy and labour agreement stemming from the leagues investigation of the Biogenesis of America anti-aging clinic in Florida. The players association filed a grievance, and because Roddriguez was a first-time offender of the drug agreement, the discipline automatically was stayed pending a resolution of the grievance. Titans Jersey. . Horowitz heard the case in a trio of four-day sessions, with management presenting its case from Sept. 30-Oct. 3 and Oct. 15-18. Rodriguezs side then took its turn during the first four days of this week. While Horowitz had set aside six additional days for testimony through Wednesday, that time was not needed. Rodriguez left in the middle of the 11th session Wednesday, furious the arbitrator refused to order baseball Commissioner Bud Selig to testify. Rodriguez and his lawyers then went on radio and television, accusing Selig of bias and the entire arbitration process of being flawed. His lawyers returned without him Thursday to complete their case, and MLB started and finished its rebuttal. At the end of the hearing, the sides learned union head Michael Weiner had died from the brain tumour he was diagnosed with 15 months ago. Outside MLBs offices, representatives of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization, including state Sen. Ruben Diaz, held a prayer vigil to express opposition to Rodriguezs discipline. Rodriguez lawyer James McCarroll issued a statement Thursday pointing out that this case is the first grievance under the drug agreement involving discipline that didnt stem from a positive test and involved "the commissioners discretion and decision-making." While he said the commissioner in the past "was harshly criticized in the arbitrators decision for not voluntarily appearing at a grievance," that statement appears to refer to arbitrator George Nicolaus 1987 decision cutting Peter Ueberroths drug suspension of pitcher LaMarr Hoyt from one season to 60 days. While Horowitz has issued an order for the proceeding to be confidential, Rodriguezs lawyers are considering making some of the evidence public. Rodriguez spokesman Ron Berkowitz said Friday nothing would be released until next week. Pittsburgh also avoided back-to-back regulation losses for the first time since dropping three straight in early November. "When you dont score you sometimes try to pick corners and be a little too cute," Neal said. "I was able to find one tonight. It was a good feeling." Ottawa goalie Craig Anderson stopped Robert Bortuzzo from the slot in overtime, but the rebound popped out to Neal, who dragged the puck around a Senators defender before dumping a shot past an out-of-position Anderson and into an empty net. "I was trying to be patient with the puck and wait for an opening," Neal said. "I knew their D-man was going to go down and Anderson was kind of far out when (Bortuzzo) got the puck to the net." Ottawas Stephane Da Costa and Pittsburghs Brian Gibbons scored in the first period. Ottawas best chance to take the lead in regulation came midway through the third period, but Fleury robbed Karlsson with a dazzling glove save. Fleury, while pushing from post to post, reached high above the cross bar, snagging the fluttering wrist shot from Karlsson, who had a partially wide open net to shoot at. "I dont know if theres a save that beats it," Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma said. "It was going high to the right corner and he had to get up there and get it. "It was an open cage, he pushes over, and gets the glove up to make the save. I hope we see this one over and over again." Karlsson might see it in his sleep. The Senators leading scorer fell to the ice in astonishment after Fleurys stop. "I just smiled at him," Karlsson said. "Theres nothing I can really say. He knows he made a good save and unfortunately Im going to be on the highlights for quite some time with that one." Fleury stopped 24 shots for his league-leading 30th win of the season, while Anderson turned aside 46 shots for the hard-luck loss. Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who leads the NHL with 75 points, was held without a point and hasnt scored a goal in five games, his longest drought since a seven-game slump earlier this season. "Hes 100 per cent," Bylsma said. "He was our best player on both sides of the puck and I thought he played an excellent game regardless of whether he got a point or not." The Penguins, who lead the Eastern Conference with 80 points, went 6-3-1 their previous 10 games, looking dominant during impressive wins against Montreal and Los Angeles but struggling in losses against Edmonton, Florida, Dallas, and Phoenix, all teams out of playoff contention. The Senators handed the Penguins arguably their worst loss of the season Dec. 23 in Ottawa, shutting them out 5-0 in a physical contest that saw Pittsburgh forward Pascal Dupuis tear his anterior cruciate ligament on a hit from Marc Methot. Ottawa, in the mix for an Eastern Conference wild-card spot, allowed three goals in the final 5:58 during a 6-3 loss at Toronto on Saturday, the second time in four games the Senators allowed six goals. The improved, hardened defensive effort Monday was certainly enough to help the Senators a win but they couldnt take advantage of their opportunities. "We played hard," Anderson said. "We gave ourselves the opportunity to be there. Just unfortunate we didnt come out with two points." Ottawa broke through at 5:56 of the first period, Da Costa scoring his third of the season after he lifted a short-side wrist shot over Fleurys shoulder from the top of the crease. Ottawas Zack Smith took a boarding call 29 seconds later and the leagues top power-play unit capitalized with the man advantage winding down, tying the game after Gibbons tipped Olli Maattas shot from the point past Anderson. That was all until Neals goal in the overtime won it for Pittsburgh. Fellow star forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic was rested with a minor knee injury ahead of Tuesdays Champions League match against Anderlecht but PSG got off to the perfect start when Lucas was given too much space in the area and volleyed in Lucas Dignes cross after just two and a half minutes. The capital club almost doubled its lead in the 20th minute but Alexs header was cleared off the line by Lorient defender Raphael Guerreiro. There was more bad news for Lorient as goalkeeper Fabien Audard was injured in that incident and had to be replaced, as did forward Jeremie Aliadiere. Jeremy Menez doubled PSGs lead in the 39th mminute, driving home Marco Verrattis chipped throughball. Torrey Smith Jersey. In the absence of Ibrahimovic, Cavani played in his preferred centre-forward position and the Uruguayan extended PSGs lead three minutes from halftime. Baptiste Reynet mistakenly came to try and gather a ball but Lucas evaded the substitute goalkeeper and crossed in for Cavani to head into an empty net. Moments earlier Lorient had had its best chance of the match when PSG goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu pulled off a stunning save to keep out Kevin Monnet-Paquets header. Cavani doubled his tally nine minutes from time. Reynet did well to parry Adrien Rabiots header but Cavani was on hand to tap in the rebound for his ninth goal of the season. PSG moved provisionally three points clear of Monaco, which visits Lille on Sunday.
