It was more than enough for Felix Doubront (2-3), who allowed a run on seven hits in 6 1-3 innings and retired nine straight at one point. Doubront hadnt won since April 3 at Baltimore, his first start of the season. Ortiz, who also doubled in the first inning, moved into sole possession of third place on Bostons all-time homers list (384) and recorded his 43rd career multi-homer game, 41 of which have come with the Red Sox. Even the Minnesota fans -- many of whom likely remember some of the 58 homers he hit with the Twins from 1997-2002 -- appreciated Ortizs display of power, politely standing and clapping as he rounded the bases after his second homer put Boston up 6-1 in the fifth. DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies have activated left-hander Boone Logan from the 15-day disabled list and optioned outfielder Corey Dickerson to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Yogi Berra Yankees Jersey . Logan is available to pitch when the Rockies face the Chicago White Sox on Monday night. Logan was placed on the disabled list March 21 with inflammation in his left elbow. He allowed one run and three hits in two-thirds of an inning in his only appearance in spring training. Logan signed a three-year contract with Colorado last winter after four years with the Yankees. Dickerson made Colorados opening-day roster this year after hitting .344 in spring training. He is hitting .200 in five plate appearances in 2014. The Rockies have a full 40-man roster. Sporting Kansas City had climbed ahead of the Revs in the East table with a draw against D.C. United on Friday, but New Englands defeat of Columbus sees the club improve to 48 points to claim sole possession of the runner-up spot behind first-place United. Lee Nguyen broke the deadlock in the 20th minute of Saturdays clash after collecting a failed clearance from the Crew defense and slotting a cool finish into the side-netting. The lead, however, lasted just five minutes as Ethan Finlay brought Columbus level momentts later. Chase Headley Yankees Jersey. The Crew attacker took a pass from Tony Tchani and eased past Jose Goncalves with a brilliant first touch before slipping a shot past Bobby Shuttleworth. The two sides remained level until the 67th minute when Chris Tierneys free kick from the left flank was met by Jermaine Jones, who nodded the delivery into the back of the net for the winning goal. Columbus was left no way back after Waylon Francis attempted to deny a 70th- minute throw-in, resulting in the defenders second yellow card of the match and subsequent ejection. Fort Worth, TX (SportsNetwork. http://www.baseballnationalsmlb.com/authentic-gio-gonzalez-nationals-jersey/ .com) - Trevone Boykin threw for four touchdowns and caught a pass for a score, powering fourth-ranked TCU to a share of the Big 12 title with a 55-3 rout of Iowa State. The Horned Frogs entered the game third in the College Football Playoff rankings and are hopeful Saturdays effort will impress the selection committee enough to keep them in the exclusive four-team field, which will be announced Sunday. Boykin was 30-of-41 for 460 yards and added 44 yards on eight carries. Aaron Green rushed for 104 yards and a score and also caught a touchdown pass for TCU (11-1, 8-1 Big 12), which will be co-conference champions with the winner of Saturday nights game between Kansas State and Baylor. Sam B. Richardson completed only 16-of-40 passes for 152 yards and one interception for the Cyclones (2-10, 0-9), who concluded the season with six consecutive losses. The Horned Frogs opened the scoring on a trick play. Boykin threw a backward pass to the left side of the field to wide receiver David Porter, who fired back across to the TCU quarterback. Boykin then followed a convoy of blockers as he raced down the right sideline for a 55-yard touchdown 5 1/2 minutes in. TCU marched 86 yards in 12 plays on its next possession and went up 14-0 on Greens 3-yard touchdown run. The Cyclones were in the red zone at the outset of the second quarter, but wound up settling for a 26-yard Cole Netten field goal after Ben Boesen dropped a pass in the end zone. Boykin later completed a 49-yard pass to Kolby Listenbee to set up Jaden Oberkroms 39-yard field goal. Iowa State then failed to capitalize on a TCU miscue. The Cyclones had the ball at the TCU 39 following a muffed punt, but turned it over on the next play. Unlike the Horned Frogs, they were unsuccessful on a trick play, as Ranthony Texada picked off an underthrown pass from wideout Jarvis West. TCU looked to extend its lead before halftime, but Boykin was intercepted by Sam E. Richardson in the end zone. The Horned Frogs then broke the game open in the third quarter by scoring 31 points. Green caught a pass in the flat on 3rd-and-3 and sprinted 54 yards to the end zone on the opening drive of the second half. Oberkrom made a 23-yard field goal, Derrick Kindred scored on a 44-yard return after picking off Sam B. Richardson and Boykin threw touchdown passes of 18 and 45 yards to Josh Doctson and Deante Gray, respectively. Boykin capped his glittering performance with a 14-yard TD pass to JaJuan Story early in the fourth quarter. Game Notes Boykin established a single-season school record with 30 touchdown passes. He broke the previous mark of 27 set by Andy Dalton in 2010 ... TCU has forced at least one turnover in 24 straight games ... Iowa State has lost 12 straight games against ranked opponents since a 37-23 win at then-No. 15 TCU on Oct. 6, 2012 .. Doctson had 151 yards on nine receptions. http://www.baseballnationalsmlb.com/authentic-derek-norris-nationals-jersey/ . Gal controlled the flight of her ball and picked up three birdies on the back nine at Tiburon Golf Club, giving her a 3-under 69 and a three-shot lead going into the weekend of an LPGA Tour finale that pays $700,000 to the winner. The 28-year-old German has spent much of the year working on a shorter swing and hitting a variety of shapes and trajectories, and that was put to good use in the blustery conditions. And the fact she opened with a 64 didnt hurt. "My advantage was yesterday," Gal said. "Shooting 8-under was big. Today it was hard for everybody to catch up. Thats what gave me that three-shot lead." Gal was at 11-under 133. Sun Young Yoo, the former Kraft Nabisco champion, had a 68 and was alone in second. The degree of difficult was best measured by what Yoo considered her best shot of the round -- a 6-iron on the 18th hole that didnt even hit the green. "Im very pleased with how I played," Yoo said. "I recovered very well." Lydia Ko, the 16-year-old from New Zealand making her pro debut, played her final 10 holes without a birdie and finished at 71, leaving her nine shots behind. "I thought I played much better today than yesterday, but the score was the same," Ko said. "I left a couple of my putts short just in front of the hole. Then when I got my speed right, the direction was wrong, so that was kind of frustrating." Gal hasnt won since her inaugural title at the Kia Classic two years ago, and her biggest disappointment this year was not getting picked for the Solheim Cup team. She felt her game was turning around, but not in time to warrant a captains pick. Instead, she might have to settle for the biggest payoff in womens golf. To win this week would amount to one-third of her career earnings. "Its easier for people to say, I dont care about the money, I only want to play well. But they dont mean it, right?" she said with a smile. "But Im not out here to play for money. Im out here to play with heart and to inspire others. Its a huge purse. But at the end of the day, when you win a tournament, youre happy about fighting and overcoming fear. http://www.baseballnationalsmlb.com/authentic-jayson-werth-nationals-jersey/. " Cristie Kerr had to fight plenty hard to get another 69 and lead the group at 6-under 138, five shots behind. Kerr thought she took take a 6-iron through a gap in the trees on the par-5 opening hole, and instead knocked it into the water. She had to drop in pine straw, and sent her fifth shot over the green. Her chip hit the pin, allowing her to tap in for a double bogey. What followed was a "horrendous" shot at the third (bogey) and a "horrible" shot on the fifth into a bunker. But she saved par, and that changed her thinking. "I wasnt going to let this tournament go down the toilet," she said. Kerr then ran off three straight birdies, knocked in a 15-foot birdie putt on the 12th, and then holed an 80-foot putt for eagle on the 17th that put her back in the mix. "On 17, I mean I was just due. I dont know how to describe it any other way than that," she said. Morgan Pressel had a 67, the low score of the second round. Four players failed to break 80. Inbee Park was within a shot of the lead early in the round, reaching 7 under, until she fell back to a 72 and was seven shots behind. Park headed off to rehearse her speech one last time before accepting LPGA player of the year at the awards dinner Friday night. Most players are nervous to stand before a big room for such a big moment. "Ive had a lot more pressure," Park said with a smile, a reference to going after a fourth straight major earlier this year at St. Andrews. Stacey Lewis (73) and Suzann Pettersen (72) were in the group at even-par 144, significant only as it relates to the Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average. Pettersen would have to finish nine shots higher than the American to win the award. Gal stayed in the lead most of the day, and one last birdie stretched her lead. She would expect to make birdie on the 17th, the shortest of the par 5s. Just not this way. She hooked her tee shot into the trees and wasnt sure she could find it. "Happy to find my ball," she said. "Had a swing -- very happy. Had an 8-iron and thought, Lets go for the pin, and almost holed it out. Made the putt (from 15 feet). All very simple Never in doubt." DENVER - Nolan Arenado thought for sure his liner to left field was gone. Brayden Schenn Flyers Jersey . Nope, hit off the top of the wall and bounced back into the outfield grass. Walkoff double. Walkoff homer. Doesnt really matter — it was still a walkoff win for the Colorado Rockies. Arenado hit a two-out, two-run double in the ninth inning, lifting the Rockies to a 5-4 win over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night. Its the second straight game the Rockies have won in walkoff fashion, with Justin Morneau hitting a two-run homer in the 10th against San Diego on Sunday. "Kind of got away from (walkoff hits)," cracked Carlos Gonzalez, who scored the winning run. "Were trying to pick it up a bit." Just another crazy game at Coors Field. The NL West-leading Giants took a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth on an RBI double by Tyler Colvin against closer LaTroy Hawkins (2-0). But it wouldnt last. With Troy Tulowitzki at third and Gonzalez on first, Arenado fouled off slider after slider from closer Sergio Romo (3-1). Finally, Romo hung a 2-2 slider that Arenado caught just right. He figured it was gone and sort of went into a half-run. The ball hit off the yellow portion of the fence and came back onto the field. Arenado started motoring toward second. No matter, though, Gonzalez was sprinting all the way, despite a sore shin and a balky knee. He easily slid into home to help the Rockies win and pull to within two games of the Giants in the division. Gonzalez even had a blood stain on his right knee, courtesy of his slide. "I didnt even know I was bleeding," Gonzalez said. "Youre trying to do anything possible and give all youve got." Arenado hardly thought this was his night, not after hitting into a double play and flying out in his first two plate appearances. But Tulowitzki gave him a pep talk. "Told him he was going to get a big hit and stick with it," Tulowitzki recounted. And Arenado did just that. "Saw a pitch and put a good swing on it," Arenado said of his third career walkoff hit. Its the second time the Giants have lost on a walkoff hit this season. "Thats tough luck," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Its a game of inches man and we just missed." Wilin Rosario had an RBI double and a two-run homer as he steadily regains his strength. Rosario recently missed a dozen games because of a viral infection that caused him to lose nearly 10 pounds. Madison Bumgarner allowed three runs in six innings before being removed for a reliever. Thats the 18th straight road starts hes surrendered three runs or less, which is the longest streak in team history as he surpassed Ed Whitson. The left-hander was staked to a 3-1 lead, but couldnt hold it as he gave up a tying two-run homer to Rosario in the sixth. Bumgarner was none too pleased in the seventh when he was hit by a pitch from Rex Brothers on the leg. Bumgarner jawed at the Rockies dugout as he made his way to first base. "Heat of the moment. Everybody was fired up," said Bumgarner, who hit Tulowitzki in the left leg with an errant pitch earlier in the game. "It shows two teams out there that care." Franklin Morales was sharp after scuffing for the last month, giving up three runs over six innings in the no decision. San Francisco took advantage of an overturned call to score three times in the fifth. After a one-out single by Brandon Crawford, Colvin laced a ball to left that appeared to drop right on the line, only to be ruled foul. Bochy challenged the play and the call was reversed, with Colvin being awarded a double. Gregor Blanco soon followed with a two-out, two-run triple to deep centre. Hunter Pence brought in Blanco with a slow roller that Tulowitzki struggled to cleanly field. The most explosive hitting team in baseball got another weapon back with reigning NL batting champion Michael Cuddyer returning to the lineup Tuesday. Hes been out the last month with a strained left hamstring. "Feels good to be able to get back on the field and put my pom-poms away and pick up a glove instead," said Cuddyer, who finished 0 for 4. NOTES: Giants OF Angel Pagan (left shoulder) and C Buster Posey (back irritation) were out of the starting lineup. ... Bochy said Posey "needs a day, might need a couple." ... The Giants will throw RHP Matt Cain (1-3) on Tuesday night, while the Rockies counter with RHP Jhoulys Chacin (0-2). Michael Raffl Flyers Jersey . Louis Cardinals, the team will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the opening of the SkyDome. Jays legends Jimmy Key and Ernie Whitt, members of playoff and World Series-winning teams of the past, will be on hand for the festivities to look back at what was the beginning of the Jays halcyon years. Dale Weise Flyers Jersey . Solomon Elimimian did not make the trip with the team after suffering what appeared to be a right leg injury in the teams regular season finale against the Calgary Stampeders. http://www.flyershockeypro.com/authentic-shayne-gostisbehere-flyers-jersey/ . on the 15-day disabled Monday list because of a strained right hamstring. OBERHOF, Germany -- Alex Harvey shrugged off a broken ski and difficult conditions to win the 4.5-kilometre freestyle prologue for the Tour de Ski on Saturday, beating Canadian teammate Devon Kershaw by 4.1 seconds. Harveys right ski broke early in the race and he was given a replacement from his team. With fog also coming down on the course, the native of St-Ferreol-les-Neiges, Que., covered the distance in nine minutes 3.4 seconds to edge Kershaw. "It feels so good to be back on the podium after a slower start to the season," Harvey said. "My training has felt good, but I have not been able to confirm those good feelings during the races this year. To do that today is a huge relief for me and the entire program." Its the second time that Harvey and Kershaw, form Sudbury, Ont., have shared the World Cup podium in cross-country skiing. The last time came in 2012 when Harvey and Kershaw finished one-three respectively in a prologue race at the World Cup final in Falun, Sweden. While Harvey captured two of the four podium finishes for the Canadian squad last year, Kershaw has been shut out of the medals since Falun. "This is huge today," said Kershaw. "After a difficult season last year, and a viicious start this year, this came as a big surprise today. Andrew MacDonald Jersey. Im still pretty shocked." Chris Jespersen of Norway was third, 10.2 seconds behind. Ivan Babikov of Canmore, Alta., was 26th at 9:28.2. In the womens prologue, overall cross-country World Cup leader Marit Bjoergen led a 1-2 Norwegian finish in a three-kilometre race. Mild and rainy weather forced organizers to shorten the course and change the format of the competition, a decision that led to the withdrawal of four-time womens Tour winner Justyna Kowalczyk of Poland. The Olympic champion said it was unfair to have five freestyle and only two classical races in the seven-stage event. "The changed program doesnt fit into my Olympic preparations," said Kowalczyk, a classical style specialist. Bjoergen covered the distance in six minutes, 34.4 seconds to leave teammate Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen 1.9 seconds behind. Sylwia Jaskowiec of Poland was seven seconds behind in third. Denise Herrmann of Germany was fourth, ahead of Jessica Diggins of the United states. Daria Gaiazova, of Banff, Alta., was the top Canadian, finishing 37th (7:01.3). Perianne Jones, of Almonte, Alta., placed 47th (7:03.2). The Tour ends in Italy on Jan. 5. Anderson ended with 11 points for the Cavaliers (15-0, 3-0 ACC), who are off to their best start since the 1980-81 season when it began 23-0 behind the play of the legendary Ralph Sampson. Darion Atkins added 14 points, eight rebounds and two blocks for Virginia, which is one of just three unbeaten teams left in the country (Kentucky and Duke are the others). Malcolm Brogdon contributed 13 points. Pat Connaughton ended with 21 points and eight rebounds for the Irish (15-2, 3-1), who had an 11-game winning streak snapped. Demetrius Jackson and V.J. Beachem each scored 12 points. Notre Dame, which came in averaging 85.0 ppg, shot just 33.9 percent from the field and went 10-of-24 from beyond the arc. Bob Uecker Braves Jersey . SIMONS ISLAND, Ga.TORONTO -- Tyler Bozak is anxious to get back into the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup after missing almost a month with a hamstring injury. But that doesnt mean hes making any promises about playing Saturday against the Washington Capitals. Bozak was one of just three players to skate Friday and said he was fine despite leaving the ice earlier than Mark Fraser and Frazer McLaren. "Its all good, just a little bit of a hard skate," Bozak said Friday. "Its needed, and hopefully Ill feel good tomorrow morning and go from there." Bozak has missed 11 straight games dating back to the Leafs game at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Oct. 25. He has been nearing a return all week, but theres no guarantee hell play against Washington. He said hes not going to rush back if the hamstring doesnt feel right. "You want to get back out there but at the same time, its a long season," Bozak said. "Theres a ton of hockey still to be played, so you dont want to push yourself and tweak something or get hurt again or even just not be able to play to your ability and hold the team back a little bit." The plan was for Bozak to get treatment Friday night and then again Saturday morning. &qquot;Hopefully it all works well," the centre said. Hector Olivera Jersey. Roommate, friend and regular linemate Phil Kessel has been asking Bozak "quite a bit" when hell be back. In Bozaks absence, Kessel has played on a line centred by Nazem Kadri, James van Riemsdyk and, most recently, Peter Holland. Still, Bozak said Kessel doesnt want him to come back too soon. And theres a need for some self-restraint, too, given that hamstring injuries can linger. "The hamstring you use quite a bit in this sport," Bozak said. "Whatever you do, its probably something thats going to nag for a little bit so I want to get most of it healed up before I try to do too much strenuous activity." NOTES -- The Leafs did dry-land workouts Friday, the morning after losing 4-2 to the Nashville Predators. Coach Randy Carlyle wondered after the game if he and the coaching staff pushed players too hard in practices or morning skates and said its their job to monitor fatigue. Carlyle did not address the media Friday. ... Toronto signed forward Connor Brown to a three-year, entry-level contract. The 2012 sixth-round pick leads the OHL in points with 46 while playing for the Erie Otters. FORTALEZA, Brazil -- Georgios Samaras scored an injury-time penalty to send Greece into the second round of the World Cup for the first time with a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast on Tuesday, eliminating the Africans in the process. Dallas Keuchel Jersey . Samaras was adjudged to have been tripped in the area by substitute Giovanni Sio, and calmly slotted in the spot kick for a win that puts Greece through to the knockout stage. Ivory Coast would have advanced with a draw. "This means so much to me, to us ... Tonight we had energy," Samaras said, dedicating the win to Greeks suffering through financial crisis. "We really hope we can make the people happy back home. We are a team. A team -- thats it." In Athens, where the game ended well after midnight, thousands of fans poured into the streets to celebrate. The players in Fortaleza danced around in a circle and sang with small groups of travelling fans at Arena Castelao who had been drowned out all night by the pro-African Brazilian crowd. The Greeks had taken the lead just before halftime through substitute Andreas Samaris, who punished Ivorian Ismael Tiote for a careless pass backward. Substitute Wilfried Bony equalized for Ivory Coast in the 74th, beating goalkeeper Pangiotis Glykos from close range after being set up by Gervinho. That goal looked like it would put the Africans through until the late drama. Samaras met a cross in the area and tried to shoot with his left leg, which got caught against the leg of Sio. Samaras foot then hit the ground and he fell to the turf, drawing a penalty. With his countrys hopes on the line, Samaras sent his spot kick past goalkeeper Boubacar Barry, who guessed the right way but couldnt keep the ball out. "We came here to advance from the group stage. Weve never done it before, and we did tonight in a great way," said Greece captain Giorgos Karagounis, a veteran of the team that won the European Championship in 2004. "The goal should have come earlier. So God helped us in the end and we all thank him. We prevailed against the odds. We had passion and we had fight." Veteran striker Didier Drogba started for Ivory Coast along with Yaya and Kolo Toure despite the recent death of their brother Ibrahim. The Ivorians wore black armbands as a sign of mourning. "The Ivory Coast is a great football nation. And this was a cruel game, a cruel game," Ivory Coast coach Sabri Lamouchi said. "After so much hard work and so much sacrifice, all of us and everyone in the Ivory Coast is very sad." Greece, which had failed to score in the previous two Group C matches, finished second in Group C with four points, behind winner Colombia with nine. Ivory Coast had three and Japan one. On Tuesday, the Greeks missed a handful of scoring chances against Ivory Coast, hitting the crossbar twice with shots from distance. The Greeks were also forced to make two early substitutions after valuable midfielder Pangiotis Kone and goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis were injured in the first half. "We found balance tonight. We are not the worst team when we lose or the best when we win," Greece coach Fernando Santos said. "To everyone in Greece I say: Go out into the street and celebrate." ------ Lineups: Greece: Orestis Karnezis (Panagiotis Glykos, 24), Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Kostas Manolas, Jose Holebas, Vassilis Torosidis, Giannis Maniatis, Panagiotis Kone (Andreas Samaris, 12), Lazaros Christodoulopoulos, Giorgos Karagounis (Fanis Gekas, 77), Georgios Samaras, Dimitris Salpingidis. Ivory Coast: Baboucar Barry, Souleymane Bamba, Arthur Boka, Kolo Toure, Serge Aurier, Ismael Tiote (Wilfried Bony, 61), Yaya Toure, Die Serey, Didier Drogba (Ismaael Diomande, 7, Solomon Kalou, Gervinho (Giovanno Sio, 83). David Perron had a career high four-point night with two goals and two assists as the Oilers experienced an offensive explosion, blasting the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-0 to record a rare home win for their second victory in a row.PHOENIX - The celebration seemed muted, maybe because these Patriots had gone through so much just to have a chance to win. They milled about midfield as the confetti streamed down, while Seahawks fans who just a few minutes earlier were sure this was their Super Bowl filed out of the University of Phoenix stadium in shocked silence. If anyone was worried about legacies and deflated footballs, the frenetic end to this game Sunday night surely went a long way to settle that. If anyone was worried that the New England Patriots couldnt overcome both controversy and recent history, well, the Lombardi trophy was going back East once again after the Patriots somehow escaped with a 28-24 win.For those keeping score at home, thats four Super Bowl wins in 14 years for the powerhouse under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. But the last one was a decade ago, and the pressure had been building long before the pressure was taken out of the balls in the AFC title game.I never thought another trophy would feel this good, but this absolutely does, owner Robert Kraft said. Any true Patriot fan understands that.Yes, Russell Wilson tossed this one away with one terribly ill-advised throw on what began as an ill-advised play call. No team with Marshawn Lynch in the backfield should throw the ball on the 1-yard-line with the Super Bowl on the line.Indeed, by all measures, the Seahawks should have been the ones celebrating. They should have had their second straight Super Bowl win, and the talk should have been about the dynasty Pete Carroll was building in the Pacific Northwest. But now Brady has his fourth ring, and is in the conversation again when it comes to great Super Bowl quarterbacks. Now the talk can begin again about the great Patriot dynasty that was quieted with losses in New Englands last two Super Bowls.Give the owner a rare assist on that. Kraft stepped forward upon the Patriots arrival in Arizona with a handwritten speech blasting everyone — including the NFL — who thought the team might have been cheating by deflating the balls in the AFC game against Indianapolis.. Houston Astros Carlos Beltran Jersey. .He wanted to take the pressure off his team, and he did. The questions about deflated balls became questions about football instead. And when it came time for actual football to be played, the Patriots were more than ready. Brady was better than Wilson despite throwing two picks of his own, and no one panicked when the Seahawks rolled to a 24-14 lead in the third quarter.Surprisingly enough, the New England defence was also better than the vaunted Seattle unit behind Richard Sherman, especially when cornerback Malcom Butler made the play of his life by intercepting Wilson at the goal line with 20 seconds left. Its not the way we drew it up, Brady said, but this team has never given up the entire year. They didnt give up because they were professional football players, and they both played and acted like it. The Seahawks played pretty well, too, but the contrast in styles couldnt have been more evident. On the sidelines in the second half, Sherman mugged for the cameras. After scoring the touchdown that put his team up 10 points, receiver Doug Baldwin was flagged for a celebration that looked like something he might do in the bathroom, not on the field. And in the final seconds, Seattle linebacker Bruce Irvin was ejected after starting a fight.None of that would go on under Belichick, of course, though style doesnt always win games. Neither, for that matter, do 37-year-old quarterbacks who hear the whispers after going a decade between big wins yet somehow rise to win both the game and the MVP award.Brady was 8-for-8 on the final drive to put the Patriots ahead— all with balls that had been checked and rechecked by the best security people the NFL could hire.I dont think about that, Brady said when asked if it would be his signature drive. Its a team effort. Theres never one player. It took the whole team.On this night the whole team was there, and there were no more questions to be answered.____Tim Dahlberg is a national sports columnist for The Associated Press. BEREA, Ohio -- Michael Sam was laughing with teammates as they conducted a running-back drill for kids, each youngster stiff-arming and juking his way to a touchdown celebration dance in a makeshift end zone. Michael Lorenzen Reds Jersey . Sam didnt stand out. He was just another rookie, simply one of the guys. The NFLs first openly gay active player, Sams first months in the league have gone just as he would have hoped. "Its very positive, its very fun," Sam said. "Im excited to be playing for the Rams, Im excited to be in the NFL." Sam was in town with the other NFC rookies, who took part in a PLAY 60 youth football clinic with local children at the Browns training complex, part of the leagues four-day rookie symposium. The AFC rookies will begin their symposium on Wednesday. The full orientation for the players includes presentations, workshops and speakers covering a broad range of topics that fit under four core teaching principles: NFL History, Total Wellness, Professional Experience and, yes, Workplace Conduct. But workplace conduct -- that is, experiencing workplace respect and maintaining positive relationships, two main outlined elements of the symposium -- hasnt been a problem for Sam. Not with his teammates and not among the other rookies. Its obvious he has the respect of those around him. "You dont see anyone not talking to him or against him," said guard Greg Robinson, Sams teammate in St. Louis and the second overall pick in Aprils draft. "They look at him as a football player." That doesnt mean Sam has to shy away from who he is, though. In a group meeting during the symposium, he was able to share some thoughts on his own life with teammates and rookies from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. "Just know someones story before you judge them. Thats pretty much what it comes down to," said Tampa Bay wide receiver Mike Evans. "Hes a normal guy, just like us. Just here to play football." Sam is also quickly becoming known for his sense of humour. "The Rams love him," Evans said. "They always joke around with him. He seems like a fun-loving guy." And like any rookie, he is adjusting to the stark contrasts between the college and professional game. Sam was the SECs Co-Defensive Player Of The Year last season and was taken with the 249th overall pick in the seventh round of the draft, but he is working hard to carve out a role on a loaded Rams defensive line, led by ends Chris Long and Robert Quinn, who was second in the NFL in sacks last season. He has also been finding work on special teams. "Its every fast. Everything is full speed," Sam said. "If you make a mistake, it could cost you that win in practice or that win in a game. That one mistake. So youve got to pay attention to details." As for the details that have followed Sam around since he came out to the media in February, they havent mattered to anyone in the league, especially those who have met him. "Hes just another guy in the locker room," Robinson said. "Hes really cool once you get to know him and I feel like he has a great story behind him." That story has resulted in a whirlwind year for Sam, without much time to reflect on the fact that he is finally an NFL player. Its a lifelong goal that made him not unlike every player on the field Tuesday, having fun with kids eager to show off their quick feet or sure hands. "It still hasnt hit me yet, its still like a dream," Sam said. And as he continues to cross through uncharted territory, there is still that one vital, important thing to keep in mind. The thing that truly makes Sams experience a worthwhile success. "They treat me like a rookie," he said. Tony Perez Reds Jersey . His team rose to the occasion Sunday with a 3-1 victory over Sweden in the bronze-medal game. "The sting from yesterday is not something we hid from or pretend didnt happen," Dineen said. Anthony DeSclafani Jersey . The team said they will announce a corresponding roster move prior to their series opener on Tuesday night in Kansas City. http://www.redsapparelsshop.com/hoodie-c-2/ . -- Olympic medallist Jennifer Abel of Laval, Que. SOCHI — Carey Price will play in goal for Team Canada in its Olympic opener against Norway on Thursday, while Roberto Luongo will get the call against Austria on Friday. Its up the two of them to determine which goalie will start against Finland on Sunday. Canadian mens head coach Mike Babcock said there was no reason for his decision. Babcock informed his goalies, including the teams third goalie, Mike Smith, of the decision in face-to-face meetings on Wednesday morning. "Im really thrilled and ready to go," Price said. "Our preparations have been really good so far. All three of knew that if we were called upon, wed be ready to get in there." Price enters the Olympics on a roll. He won his final three starts with the Montreal Canadiens before the break, stopping 100 of 103 shots, including a 5-2 victory over Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks in Montreal on Feb. 6. Luongo and the Canucks, meanwhile, have struggled with seven straight losses. Luongo has been in goal for five of those defeats and has won only three of his last 10 starts. The Canucks netminder was in goal when Canada won gold in Vancouver four years ago. "Oh, it didnt matter," said Luongo, when asked about the decision to start with Price. "I think right now its just focusing on Norway, thats the first challenge for our team. Ive got to be ready, you never know what can happen in the gaame. Barry Larkin Jersey. I dont want to look too far ahead right now. I just want to focus on tomorrow, making sure that as a group, not only myself, that were ready to play." Price was asked to look down the road to possibly getting the start against Finland "All Im concerned about is our game tomorrow," he said. "Thats all that matters." Because of Canadas roster size, Smith will be joined on the sidelines by a defenceman and forward. But Babcock would not divulge who the two scratches will be. Canada practiced for the third time and once again kept their lines the same as they prepare to open the competition on Thursday. Here are Wednesdays practice lines with extra players in parenthesis: FORWARDS Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Jeff CarterPatrick Sharp - Jonathan Toews - Rick NashPatrick Marleau - Ryan Getzlaf - Corey PerryJamie Benn - John Tavares - Patrice Bergeron(Martin St. Louis, Matt Duchene) DEFENCE Duncan Keith - Shea WeberJay Bouwmeester - Alex PietrangeloMarc-Edouard Vlasic - Drew Doughty(P.K. Another chapter will be written in Ottawas CFL story when the Redblacks play their first home game in franchise history Friday night against the Toronto Argonauts. http://www.baseballgiantsmlb.com/authentic-matt-moore-giants-jersey/ . However, it will be far from the first professional football game the nations capital has seen. For almost a century they were known as the Rough Riders (not to be confused with the Roughriders from Saskatchewan). Then, after a six year absence, the city returned to the CFL with the Renegades for a short and controversial four-year stint. Now after a time where some thought it could never happen, football has returned to Ottawa with a new name, a new group of players and new optimism. Looking back at their long history, Ottawa definitely has had some proud - and not so proud - moments on and off the gridiron. The Early Years Before they were the Rough Riders, they were simply known as the Ottawa Football Club, formed in 1876. It wasnt until 1898 when they changed their name to the Rough Riders. For a five-year stint from 1925-30, they were called the Ottawa Senators before changing the name back. In the early 1950s Ottawa hosted the NFLs New York Giants for a pair of exhibition games, losing both times. They won four Grey Cup championships (1925, 1926, 1940 and 1951) before the Canadian Football League officially formed in 1958. The Glory Years The Rough Riders won five Grey Cups under the CFL umbrella from 1960-76 (1960, 1968, 1969, 1973 and 1976) with Frank Clair manning the sidelines as head coach and Canadians such as quarterback Russ Jackson, receiver Whit Tucker, running back Ron Stewart and tight end Tony Gabriel leading the charge on the gridiron. Jackson of Hamilton, Ont. is widely considered to be the greatest Canadian-born quarterback to play in the CFL and is a member of the Order of Canada, the Canadian Football of Fame and Canadas Sports Hall of Fame. He even finished eighth - and as the top Canadian - in TSNs ranking of the top 50 CFLers of all-time. Ottawa could run during those successful years as well. Rough Riders running back Vic Washington has the record for longest rushing touchdown in Grey Cup history with an 80-yard scamper during their 1968 Grey Cup victory over the Calgary Stampeders. Their final championship season came in 1976 and is probably the most notable. Burlingtons Tony Gabriel caught a deep touchdown pass from quarterback Tom Clements with just 20 seconds remaining in the final quarter to defeat their hated rivals, the Saskatchewan Roughriders 23-20. It became known as simply "The Catch" and was arguably the greatest moment in Rough Riders history as well as one of the most memorable Grey Cup plays ever. Ottawa made one more Grey Cup final appearance in 1981 against the Edmonton Eskimos - a game in which they blew a 19-point halftime lead to lose 26-23. With nine championships, the Rough Riders are fourth all-time in Grey Cup victories behind the Argonauts (16), Eskimos (13) and Blue Bombers (10). The Decline From 1983 to the end of their existence in 1996, the Rough Riders never put together another winning season and didnt win a single playoff game. As the team struggled mightily, fans stopped coming out and the franchise lost money at a rapid rate. One positive note from this era came in 1988 when Jo-Anne Polak was named co-general manager of the team, which made her the first woman to be appointed to an executive title in CFL history. On the other side of the spectrum, there was the time when Ottawa management drafted a dead man. Derrell Robertson was a defensive end who played one season with the Las Vegas Posse in 1994 during the CFLs doomed American expansion. Shortly after the season, the 27-year-old died in a car accident. With the Posse folding after just one season, all their players became available through a dispersal draft and Ottawa drafted Robertson fully believing he was alive and well. Not a great moment for a franchise that was on its last legs. The team folded in 1996, 120 years after the Ottawa Football Club played their first game against the Aylmer Club at Jacques-Cartier Square. Franchise Records Most Career Touchdowns: Bob Simpson (Windsor, Ont.) - 70 Most Career Passing Yards: Russ Jackson (Hamilton, Ont.) - 24, 592 yards Most Career Passing Touchdowns: Russ Jackson - 185 Most Passing Touchdowns in a Season: Damon Allen (American) - 34 in 1990 Most Career Rushing Yards: Dave Thelen (American) - 6, 917 Most Career Receiving Yards: Tony Gabriel (Burlington, Ont.) - 7, 484 Most Career Receptions: Tony Gabriel - 444 Back With The Renegades In 2002, Ottawa was back in the CFL game, this time with the Renegades. Hope was back in the nations capital with an entirely new franchise, but it ultimately didnt last very long. Over four seasons, the Renegades would win only 23 games and never got a sniff of the post-season. On April 9, 2006 the CFL suspended operations of the franchise after low attendance and unstable ownership from the Glieberman family. Football was done in Ottawa - again. A New Hope In 2008, a group led by Ottawa 67s owner Jeff Hunt was awarded a conditional CFL franchise that would become the Redblacks. After getting approval for a redevelopment of Lansdowne Park and the hiring of general manager Marcel Desjardins as well as head coach Rick Campbell, Ottawa was finally ready to start putting another team together. Receiver Fred Rouse, defensive lineman Dimetrio Tyson and defensive back Nick Turnbull became the first signings in franchise history. They would later sign free agent and veteran quarterback Henry Burris to a contract. The Redblacks have gone 0-2 so far in 2014, losing games on the road to the Blue Bombers and Eskimos. With a rejuvenated fan base and stable ownership along with a fairly strong team by expansion standards, this version of Ottawa football seems like its here to stay. And thats all football fans in the nations capital want to hear. http://www.baseballgiantsmlb.com/authentic-jeff-samardzija-giants-jersey/ . The Raptors (15-15) posted six road victories last month and have won seven of their last nine games overall. Toronto visits the Washington Wizards on Friday night. http://www.baseballgiantsmlb.com/authentic-ricky-romero-giants-jersey/ . After rookie right-hander Alex Colome excelled in a 5-2 victory in the opener, the Rays fell to Chris Tillman and the Orioles 4-1 on Friday night. http://www.baseballgiantsmlb.com/authentic-orlando-cepeda-giants-jersey/ . "I have had no discussions with Chad Johnson or his representation," Popp said Friday in an email. However, he appeared to confirm a report on Twitter from TSN this week that Johnson was on Montreals negotiation list. RITZING, Austria -- It wasnt the long-awaited win that Canada was hoping for, but it was a credible result against a decent European side and an end to an embarrassing 14-month goalless run for Canadas mens soccer team. The Canadians came from a goal down to draw Bulgaria 1-1 in an international friendly at the Sonnenseestadion in Ritzing, Austria on Friday. Atiba Hutchinson converted a penalty in the 26th minute to tie the game after Bulgaria had opened the scoring with a nicely-worked goal by Andrey Galabinov in the 18th minute. The draw represents arguably the best result of the teams current project under the leadership of Spanish coach Benito Floro. The Canadian side has been mired in a miserable spell on the back of a calamitous exit from World Cup Qualifying in October of 2012, but Floro said that Fridays result in Austria signals the end of the "first stage" of his restructuring of the teams fundamental philosophies. "For us it (was) a very good result. Not only because we scored a goal and tied the game but especially because of the tactical behaviour," said Floro, who still speaks largely through an interpreter due to his limited English. Canada showed some rare attacking verve in the first half with Hutchinsons incisive passing leading to clear-cut chances for Tosaint Ricketts and Randy Edwini-Bonsu. But as the game wore on and the score level at 1-1, it was Bulgaria who lookedd the more likely to score the winning goal -- something that Floro attributed to end-of-season fatigue for his players. http://www.baseballgiantsmlb.com/authentic-johnny-cueto-giants-jersey/. "In the second half our players were very tired because they are at the end of their (club) seasons and we did not have another experienced player to make a change with. "So, at the end, it was a very good result and tactical behaviour," he said. For Hutchinson, who broke Canadas ugly goalless streak that dated back to a March 2013 goal by Marcus Haber, it was simply a feeling of "relief to get that over and done with. "Now the next step is to get a win," he said. A victory would indeed go a long way to adding some sincerity to the notion that Canada is a team on an upward trajectory. The Canadians have not won a match since beating Cuba 3-0 in Toronto in October of 2012 and theyre still winless in six matches under their new Spanish boss. But despite another match without a win, Hutchinson cited the resiliency that Canada showed as something that bodes well for the future. "Its something thats definitely been a problem for Canada. Whenever weve conceded goals weve dropped our heads," he said. "Now were looking forward and building the right attitude, on and off the pitch." Canada will next take on Moldova on Tuesday in Mauer, Austria, before the team disbands again until its next camp in Toronto in September. Lions quarterback Kevin Glenn went through the concussion protocol and head coach Mike Benevides said the veteran will get the start against the Edmonton Eskimos on Saturday. A decision on whether Travis Lulay will suit up will be made by Wednesday or Thursday but it does not appear the Lions will rush him back into action. Running back Stefan Logan is ready to return from a severe bruise to his quad and Benevides hinted hell be in the line-up for the crucial game. With a win, the Lions would ensure a rematch with the Eskimos in the West Semifinal. Houston Astros Brian McCann Jersey . The CFL will help tackle womens cancers by playing four special "CFL PINK" games this weekend.FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Rex Ryan would love to be reunited with Ed Reed. Its on New York Jets general manager John Idzik to make it happen. But thats if he even wants the 35-year-old free-agent safety. Reed, released Tuesday by Houston, cleared waivers Wednesday and is available to any team. Ryan, who coached Reed for several years in Baltimore, acknowledged that he and Idzik discussed the possibility of adding him. "If we did, I keep that conversation private and all that kind of stuff," Ryan said. "But part of due diligence, if youve coached a player, Im sure you would want that input. So, did we have it? I think its safe to say yes." Reed missed the Texans first two games after hip surgery and was relegated to a backup role in recent games, making just 16 tackles. He was unhappy not starting in Houston after signing a three-year, $15 million deal in the off-season after 11 years in Baltimore. Reed also criticized the team for being outplayed and outcoached after the Texans seventh straight loss last Sunday. Mike Scott Astros Jersey. The Jets have the NFLs 26th-ranked pass defence, but Ryan insisted he is pleased with his current group of safeties, including Dawan Landry, Jaiquawn Jarrett and Antonio Allen -- whom the coach said has "a chance to be really good." But that might not prevent Ryan from wanting to add Reed, who was one of his favourites and is mentioned as one of the leagues greatest players at his position. "Its a logical question," Ryan said. "Look, the way I am, I could say absolutely yes, I would like him on our team. And Ill say that knowing you guys know me." Ryan quickly mentioned former Jets such as Brandon Moore, Alan Faneca, Trevor Pryce and Damien Woody as guys hed always like to have playing for him. "Anybody that Ive ever coached, that bled for me," Ryan said, "I want them." The National Hockey League handed down a 10- game suspension to New York Rangers forward Daniel Carcillo on Friday. Jose Reyes Rockies Jersey . At the 5:51 mark of the first period and following a fight with Montreals Brandon Prust in Thursdays Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, Carcillo used his elbow to try and disengage from linesman Scott Driscoll and swiped the side of Driscolls face with his forearm prior to being escorted to the penalty box. Carcillo was given an automatic game misconduct for his actions, and the suspension is commensurate with Rule 40.3 regarding physical abuse of officials. The rule states: "Any player who deliberately applies physical force to an official in any manner (excluding actions as set out in Category I), which physical force is applied without intent to injure, or who spits on an official, shall be automatically suspended for not less than ten (10) games." Had the feisty 29-year-old winger caused any physical harm to Driscoll, he could have been subject to Rule 40.2, which allows for a 20-game suspension to "any player who deliberately strikes an official and causes injury or who deliberately applies physical force in any manner against an official with intent to injure, or who in any manner attempts to injure an official." The ban means Carcillo wont be eligible to return unless the Rangers advance to the Stanley Cup Finals and reach a deciding Game 7. Gerardo Parra Jersey .C. -- After turning Tobacco Road into "Raleigh Top," Tennessee is headed to the round of 16. Jason Motte Jersey . The question is how many minutes will be available to them and can any of their defence or goaltending provide value? Top Picks: Following a down year in 2011-2012, Matt Duchene rebounded with his highest points-per-game (0. http://www.rockiesapparelsshop.com/dj-lemahieu-jersey-c-7/ . Two-time Olympic bronze medallists Savchenko and Szolkowy received 79.02 points to finish ahead of world bronze medallists Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford of Canada, who had 77.01 points.Just past the three-quarter mark of the 2013 MLB season, Scott Cullen digs into the numbers to make his picks for awards to this point of the season, along with Gold Gloves, All-Surprise and All-Disappointing teams: AL MVP Miguel Cabrera, 3B, Detroit (40 HR, 120 RBI, .359 AVG, 1.133 OPS) Runners Up: Mike Trout, LF, L.A. Angels (21 HR, 78 RBI, 28 SB, .333 AVG, 1.004 OPS) Chris Davis, 1B, Baltimore (45 HR, 115 RBI, .306 AVG, 1.071 OPS) Cabrera has put up numbers that would be sensational for a full season and, despite his fielding and base-running issues, his bat puts him in position to go back-to-back. Trout, who was runner-up last year, may not get as much consideration, since the Angels have been terrible, but Trout continues to be great and easily could win under different circumstances. Davis has been mashing, and has rebounded from a July slump but, even so, he has a tall order to overtake Cabrera. Adrian Beltre, Evan Longoria and Robinson Cano have been very good, but theyre not at the level of the top three. NL MVP Joey Votto, 1B, Cincinnati (18 HR, 58 RBI, .314 AVG, .931 OPS) Runners-up: Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, Arizona (31 HR, 100 RBI, 13 SB, .297 AVG, .945 OPS) Andrew McCutchen, CF, Pittsburgh (17 HR, 71 RBI, 26 SB, .316 AVG, .901 OPS) This race has been wide open all year, though this trio of candidates may be settling in. Votto hasnt put up big counting numbers, but he gets on base like no one else (.432 OBP leads the NL). Goldschmidt has the power numbers to draw attention, is a good defender and the Diamondbacks are at least contending for a playoff spot, so no argument if he turns out to be the winner. McCutchen started the season slowly, but has been gaining steam with strong play since the beginning of July. He does play a more demanding position than the other two finalists and if the Pirates are a playoff team, it could be hard to keep McCutchen from the winners circle. AL CY YOUNG Max Scherzer, Detroit (18-1, 2.82 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 185 K, 172 1/3 IP) Runners Up: Felix Hernandez, Seattle (12-6, 2.62 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 182 K, 178 2/3 IP) Yu Darvish, Texas (12-5, 2.68 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 214 K, 161 IP) Record isnt the measure of a pitcher, so its merely good fortune that Scherzer also happens to have an 18-1 record, but strong strikeout numbers and the fewest baserunners per inning in the AL earn him the nod. Felix Hernandez had closed the gap, possibly overtaking Scherzer, before allowing 11 earned runs over his last three starts. That Yu Darvish puts up such great numbers despite pitching in Texas is a credit to him and warrants inclusion in this discussion, ahead of Chris Sale and Hiroki Kuroda. NL CY YOUNG Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles (12-7, 1.80 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 182 K, 190 1/3 IP) Runners-up: Matt Harvey, N.Y. Mets (9-4, 2.25 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 187 K, 171 1/3 IP) Adam Wainwright, St. Louis (14-7, 2.66 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 173 K, 189 2/3 IP) Kershaw has been ridiculously dominant, so much so that even Harvey, who has been sensational, isnt going to catch him. Wainwright has slipped lately, opening room for Jose Fernandez, Madison Bumgarner or Patrick Corbin to overtake him by seasons end. AL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Leonys Martin, CF, Texas (6 HR, 31 RBI, 27 SB, .276 AVG, .724 OPS) Runners Up: Jose Iglesias, SS/3B, Boston (2 HR, 23 RBI, .321 AVG, .765 OPS) Dan Straily, LHP, Oakland (6-7, 4.21 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 92 K, 113 IP) The American League rookie class has been mediocre all year, but there is hope for late surges from call-ups Nick Franklin, Chris Archer and Wil Myers so that one of them could overtake Martin or Iglesias at the top.. NL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR Jose Fernandez, RHP, Miami (9-5, 2.41 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 157 K, 145 2/3 IP) Runners-up: Yasiel Puig, RF, Los Angeles (12 HR, 28 RBI, 7 SB, .352 AVG, .979 OPS) Hyun-Jin Ryu, LHP, Los Angeles (12-4, 2.95 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 126 K, 155 2/3 IP) The thin AL crop only looks worse when contrasted with the outstanding National League rookie class. Fernandez has been the best pitcher in baseball for more than a month, Puig has exploded onto the scene and Ryus season-long consistency places him ahead of Cardinals pitcher Shelby Miller. GOLD GLOVESC - Russell Martin, PittsburghRunners-up: Yadier Molina, St. Louis; A.J. Ellis, Los Angeles Molina is an all-time great and could easily win again, but Martin has been outstanding in his return to the National League. Miguel Montero, Welington Castillo and Salvador Perez are all having strong seasons behind the plate too.. 1B - Anthony Rizzo, Chicago Cubs Runners-up: Paul Goldschmidt, Arizona; Yonder Alonso, San Diego Youth is served, withh Rizzo just ahead of Goldschmidt, while Alonso, Eric Hosmer and Brandon Belt are all above average around the bag. Jake McGee Rockies Jersey. . 2B - Brian Dozier, Minnesota Runners-up: Dustin Pedroia, Boston; Brandon Phillips, Cincinnati Dozier, a former shortstop, has proven to be more than competent with the glove on the other side of second base while veterans Pedroia and Phillips are near the top in Ultimate Zone Rating. Teh As Eric Sogard and Cubs Darwin Barney are also viable candidates. 3B - Nolan Arenado, Colorado Runners-up: Manny Machado, Baltimore; Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay Arenado and Machado have been amazing, ranking at the top in Defensive Runs Saved and Ultimate Zone Rating. Longoria is also at the top tier, while Chase Headley and Juan Uribe have been very good, but not quite at the level Arenado, Machado and Longoria. SS - Andrelton Simmons, Atlanta Runners-up: Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado; Pedro Florimon, Minnesota Its a one-horse race as Simmons is likely the best fielder in all of baseball. Tulowitzki and Florimon are very good, among the mortals, while Yunel Escobar, Clint Barmes and Pete Kozma have had strong seasons with the glove. LF - Starling Marte, Pittsburgh Runners-up: Andy Dirks, Detroit, Alex Gordon, Kansas City Martes range puts him at the head of the class, a position that used to be held by Carl Crawford, who has been good when healthy this year. Andy Dirks is lesser-known, but a strong fielder and Alex Gordon is consistently above average. Yoenis Cespedes and Nate McLouth are among other left fielders playing well this season. CF - Carlos Gomez, MilwaukeeRunners-up: Lorenzo Cain, Kansas City; A.J. Pollock, Arizona Gomez is a sensational fielder, who effectively blocked Cain from regular duty in Milwaukee, but Cain has shown this season that hes an elite defensive outfielder too. Pollock made the most of his opportunity when Adam Eaton was injured, earning him the nod ahead of Jacoby Ellsbury and Andrew McCutchen. RF - Shane Victorino, BostonRunners-up: Gerardo Parra, Arizona; Josh Reddick, Oakland Victorino, a former centre fielder, has the best range at the position, Parra leads in Defensive Runs Saved and Reddick is near the top in both categories. This trio comes in just ahead of Jay Bruce and Ichiro Suzuki. (I realize there are Gold Gloves awarded in both leagues. Im just trying to recognize the best fielders at each position.) ALL-SURPRISE TEAM C - Jason Castro, Houston (14 HR, 46 RBI, .270 AVG, .799 OPS) 1B -Chris Davis, Baltimore (45 HR, 115 RBI, .306 AVG, 1.071 OPS) 2B - Matt Carpenter, St. Louis (9 HR, 62 RBI, .312 AVG, .859 OPS) SS - Jean Segura, Milwaukee (12 HR, 44 RBI, 37 SB, .308 AVG, .795 OPS) 3B - Josh Donaldson, Oakland (18 HR, 71 RBI, .297 AVG, .859 OPS) LF - Starling Marte, Pittsburgh (11 HR, 33 RBI, 35 SB, .282 AVG, .786 OPS) CF - Carlos Gomez, Milwaukee (18 HR, 55 RBI, 30 SB, .288 AVG, .858 OPS) RF - Michael Cuddyer, Colorado (17 HR, 66 RBI, .324 AVG, .925 OPS) SP - Patrick Corbin, Arizona (13-3, 2.45 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 150 K, 172 1/3 IP) SP - Matt Harvey, N.Y. After a prolonged stint in the OHL and a successful season in the AHL, new assistant coach Steve Spott will find himself behind the Leafs bench next season, coaching a team he grew up rooting for. Paul Molitor Brewers Jersey . Spott joined TSN 1050 to discuss how hell bring some new ideas and philosophies to the Leafs staff and why his ability to act as a buffer between Randy Carlyle and the players was the “biggest reason I got the job.” Spott: Communication with players key, Carlyle Chris Carter Brewers Jersey . First, the Red Wings scored the tying goal after officials missed the puck hitting the protective netting, then the Kings wound up losing in a shootout. Louis Blues, having added Ryan Miller and Steve Ott from Buffalo, remain the No.NEW YORK -- The Seattle Mariners game at the New York Yankees on Wednesday night was postponed because of rain. It was rescheduled for June 2 at 7:05 p.m., which had been an off day for both teams. For the Yankees, that date falls between home series against Minnesota and Oakland. But the Mariners must start a road trip one day early, stopping first in New York before playing two games in Atlanta and four at Tampa Bay. They do have an off day between those two series. Due to the rainout, the Yankees wont have to face Mariners ace Felix Hernandez this week. Hernandez had been slated to pitch the series finale Thursday night, but Seattle pushed him back. Rookie left-hander Roenis Elias, originally scheduled to start Wednesday, will now pitch Thursday instead, the team said. Hiroki Kuroda gets the ball for New York, as planned. David Phelps had been set to pitch Wednesday for the Yankees in place of suspended Michael Pineda. Phelps was to make his first start of the season following nine relief appearances. Pineda cut short a simulated game Tuesday in Florida after experiencing tightness in an upper back muscle. An MRI showed he has a Grade 1 lat strain. Before the rainout, the right-handers 10-game ban for having pine tar on his neck had been on track to end SSunday, and Pineda had been scheduled to pitch Monday night at the Los Angeles Angels. Tyler Thornburg Brewers Jersey. Phelps likely will start that game instead. The game was called nearly 5 hours before it was supposed to begin, with rain falling in New York throughout the day and a forecast for heavy showers all night. The Mariners cancelled their buses to the ballpark, and the Yankees kept the stadium closed to fans and reporters. By late afternoon, the storm had also washed out scheduled night games in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Boston. It was the second rainout of the season for the Mariners, who had their April 4 game in Oakland postponed due to poor field conditions. That game is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader on May 7, the final day of Seattles current trip. Seattle won the series opener 6-3 Tuesday on a rainy, chilly night. Robinson Cano went 1 for 5 with an RBI and a run, booed in his return to New York after the former Yankees second baseman signed a $240 million, 10-year contract with the Mariners in the off-season. A pregame ceremony to honour Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Wolff was moved from Wednesday to Thursday night, the Yankees said. Guinness World Records plans to recognize Wolff for having the "Longest Career as a Broadcaster." Alec Martinez scored at 14:43 of double overtime to give the Los Angeles Kings a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers in Game Five

Alec Martinez scored at 14:43 of double overtime to give the Los Angeles Kings a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers in Game Five of the Stanley Cup Final, taking the series in five games, with three of the wins coming in overtime. Miguel Cabrera Jersey . Martinez, the 26-year-old defenceman enjoyed a breakthrough season, scoring a career-high 11 goals and 22 points in 61 regular season games, then followed up with five goals and five assists in 25 playoff games and was one of three Kings to have at least 75.0% of the 5-on-5 shot attempts during Game Five. The Kings earned the win in Game Five, outshooting the Rangers 51-30, but with that many shots, both teams had opportunities. Each team found iron a couple of times in the extra frames, but the Kings controlled play, particularly after the first period. Shot attempts were even after one, but the Kings had 68.8% of the total shot attempts from the start of the second period onward and that relentless attack finally paid off when Tyler Toffolis rebound landed on Martinezs stick. It was a sensational run for the Kings, rallying from multi-goal and multi-game deficits throughout the postseason, winning their last four overtime games on the way to the Cup. Kings RW Justin Williams, who scored the first goal of the game, won the Conn Smythe Trophy, finishing tied for second in the playoff scoring race with 25 points (9 G, 16 A) in 25 playoff games, scoring two goals and five assists in the Final, when he was skating on what was ostensibly the Kings third line. Williams had the best plus-minus in the postseason (plus-13) as he was on for 23 goals for and 10 against during 5-on-5 play. Williams had a game-high eight shots and 12 shot attempts in Game Five. Williams was a deserving winner, on a team full of viable candidates. D Drew Doughty was a stalwart, finishing with 18 points, while averaging 28:45 of ice time per game. C Anze Kopitar was the playoffs leading scorer, with 26 points (5 G, 21 A), one point ahead of Jeff Carter, who anchored That 70s Line, with rookies Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli on his wings. For their part, Toffoli and Pearson had the best possession stats for the Kings in the playoffs, and offered a glimpse at what could be a formidable line in the future. Pearson and Toffoli combined for 26 points (14 for Toffoli, 12 for Pearson) in the playoffs. Former Ranger Marian Gaborik, who tied Game Five early in the third period, led the playoffs with 14 goals, four more than Carter. Acquired from Columbus at the trade deadline, for Matt Frattin and a couple of draft picks, Gaborik was a difference-maker for a Kings team that was having trouble scoring goals. Rangers G Henrik Lundqvist stopped 48 of 51 shots in the deciding game, finishing the playoffs witha .927 save percentage. It was a terrific effort that ultimately came up short. Kings G Jonathan Quick wasnt at his best in the playoffs -- his .911 save percentage was well below his past couple postseasons -- but with the Kings controlling play in the Final, Quick needed to be good, not great. Rangers D Ryan McDonagh had an assist and played a game-high 42:12 in Game Five and led the Rangers in playoff scoring with 17 points (4 G, 13 A); this after going scoreless in the first 10 games of the playoffs. He hit the post on a great power play opportunity in overtime. Close, but no dice for the Rangers. Rookie LW Chris Kreider scored the Blueshirts second goal in Game Five and was one of their most dangerous forwards throughout the playoffs, registering 13 points (5 G, 8 A) in 15 games. Kreiders speed and physical game make him a threat, though it remains to be seen just how high his offensive ceiling may go. The story of disappointment for the Rangers lands on RW Rick Nash, who managed a total of three goals, despite registering 83 shots on goal, in the playoffs. That leaves Nash in rather select company of forwards that have had more than 70 shots on goal in a playoff year and scored three or fewer goals; the list includes Marian Hossa this year as well as Jonathan Toews and Tyler Seguin last year. Basically, this doesnt mean that Nash has forever forgotten how to score goals. That he finished seventh in the league in Goals/60 during the regular season is also evidence that Nash hasnt completely lost that skill. It was a bad time to go through that goal-scoring drought. In the end, the leagues best puck possession team hoists the Stanley Cup and looks like theyll have the horses to mount a strong defence next season. That the Final only went five games this year doesnt quite do justice to the tension involved in the series, with the Kings taking three games in overtime (two in double-OT) to dispose of the Rangers. These Kings didnt do it the easy way, needing seven games to win each of their first three series, but that heightened drama made for a satisfying conclusion to a brilliant postseason. Scott Cullen can be reached at Scott.Cullen@bellmedia.ca and followed on Twitter at http://twitter.com/tsnscottcullen. For more, check out TSN Fantasy on Facebook. Kirk Gibson Jersey . Patrick Deslisle-Houde and David Rose each scored in the second to give the fourth-seeded Redmen a 3-1 lead after Jean-Philippe Mathieu scored in the first. Anibal Sanchez Jersey . The Brazilian international goalkeeper was beaten twice in the first 12 minutes of his Reds debut in a 3-1 preseason loss to Columbus Crew in Florida earlier this week. ST. LOUIS -- Billy Hamilton had three hits and his first two steals, and scored easily after tagging up on a shallow outfield pop fly to support a strong outing from Mike Leake in the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday. Leake (1-1) allowed four hits and a walk in eight scoreless innings and Devin Mesoraco hit a two-run home run for the Reds, who avoided a three-game sweep after dropping their ninth series in their last 10 in St. Louis. Theyre 2-4 against the Cardinals, their NL Central rival, and wrapped up a 2-4 trip. Shelby Miller (0-2) allowed his fourth homer in two starts and faced trouble most of his six innings, but held the Reds hitless in nine at-bats with runners in scoring position. Mesoraco hit his first homer in the fourth after doubling twice Tuesday in his first start after coming off the 15-day disabled list. Hamilton entered batting .091 with two hits and seven strikeouts in 22 at-bats and left town batting .192. He reached safely his first three trips beginning with a triple to open the game when left fielder Matt Holliday missed on a diving catch in the gap. After singling to start the fifth he put on a show with his legs, stealing second without a throw, going to third on a flyout to shallow right and scoring easily to beat Jon Jays relay on Bruces pop fly to even shallower right and put the Reds up 3-0. Hamiilton bunted for a hit in the ninth against Pat Neshek and stole second, then scored without a throw on Brandon Phillips one-out single to make it 4-0. Detroit Tigers Hats. . Leake retired nine of the first 10 hitters and benefited from three double-play balls, two of them in a run of five straight three-up, three-down innings from the second through sixth. Leake was 0-2 in three starts last year against St. Louis while allowing 15 earned runs in 16 1-3 innings and beat them for the first time since Aug. 25, 2012. Millers best work came in the first when he struck out Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto and got Bruce on a groundout to strand Hamilton at third. He gave up three runs on seven hits. Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter made an outstanding diving stop on Leakes grounder down the line in the third. Notes: Slumping cleanup man Allen Craig (.097) was not in the lineup for the Cardinals and the Reds gave Zack Cozart (.03 a day off. Together, those two are 4 for 57. ... Both teams have a day off Thursday. The Reds open a six-game homestand Friday with Johnny Cueto (0-1, 1.93) opposing the Rays and David Price (1-0, 4.05) and the Cardinals and Joe Kelly (1-0, 1.69) begin a three-game series with the Cubs and Jeff Samardzija (0-1, 1.29). ... Comfortably atop the Atlantic Division and already with a franchise record for wins before the All-Star break, the Toronto Rapto

Comfortably atop the Atlantic Division and already with a franchise record for wins before the All-Star break, the Toronto Raptors would like to see some consistency from DeMar DeRozan. Oakland Athletics Alejandro De Aza Jersey . DeRozan will try to capitalize on one of the NBAs worst defensive teams as the Raptors go for a fourth straight win Wednesday night against the struggling Sacramento Kings. Catch all of the action LIVE on TSN2 and TSN Radio 1050 at 7pm et/4pm pt. Toronto (30-15) is the only team in the Atlantic with a winning record - and in playoff position - so its not surprising that the Raptors have built an 11 1/2-game lead on second-place Brooklyn. While they appear headed for a second straight division title and rank fifth in the league with 105.7 points per game, coach Dwane Casey feels theres more to be done. Were still not a finished product, Casey said. Weve still got a lot to work on. Guys have to stay hungry, stay focused because its a long season. A healthy DeRozan producing consistently could make Casey fell better. The guard has totaled 49 points on 15-of-29 shooting with 12 rebounds in the last two games after scoring 14 points while missing 28 of 34 shots in the previous three. He put that stretch further behind him Tuesday, scoring 24 points with six boards to help Toronto win its third straight, 104-91 at Indiana. Im getting more comfortable every single day, said DeRozan, who has played eight games after missing 21 with a torn tendon in his left groin. Just getting back to used to playing the game Im accustomed to playing. DeRozan missed Torontos 117-109 win at Sacramento on Dec. 2, but Kyle Lowry picked up the slack with 27 points and 13 assists. The Kings (16-27) didnt get a chance to snap their season-high six-game losing streak Monday at New York with that contest postponed by a snowstorm. Sacramento will now take the court for the first time since being on the receiving end of a spectacular shooting display in Fridays 126-101 loss to Golden State. Klay Thompson lit up the Kings porous defense, scoring 37 of his 52 points in the third quarter and setting NBA records for points and 3-pointers (9) in a quarter. Sacramento has allowed 107.8 points during the six-game skid. DeMarcus Cousins was a bright spot Friday, tallying 28 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. The center is making a strong case to be named to next months All-Star game in New York, ranking among the league leaders with 12.6 rebounds. Hes averaged 26.4 points and 13.9 boards over his past seven games. Rudy Gay went scoreless in 12 minutes Friday before he was ejected for receiving two technical fouls. He averaged 24.3 points on 48.1 percent shooting over the three prior games after missing one with a knee sprain. Murphy capped a four-run seventh inning with a two-run homer as the Chicago Cubs rallied for a 9-7 victory over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Since joining the Cubs in early August, Murphy is hitting nearly .400 from the seventh inning on and Wednesdays home run was his sixth in the seventh inning or later. "Ive come through in those situations before and for some reason Im comfortable in em," he said. "I just like the situation. I like the game on the line. Its not pressure on me. Someone else has to throw the pitch over the plate. Its pressure on them sometimes and I just like the situation." Murphy has been one of the few bright spots for the Cubs in an otherwise dismal second half. Since being called up from the minors in early August, hes been one of the teams best hitters and certainly the best clutch hitter. Not bad for a guy who essentially was on baseballs scrapheap this season after bouncing around for much of his career since making his major league debut in 2004. "Throughout the rest of his major league career, hes been hurt and on the (disabled list) and never really got a chance," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said of Murphy. "Hes obviously getting a chance here and is making the most of it." The Cubs certainly made the most of some shaky pitching by the Marlins. Rookie left-hander Brian Flynn lasted just four-plus inning in his debut, giving up three runs on six hits. The bullpen was worse and couldnt protect 6-3 and 7-4 leads. "Theyve been pretty consistent for us all year, but today wasnt one of our better days," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said of his bullpen. The Cubs pounded out four home runs, with Sterlin Castro, Dioner Navarro and Ryan Sweeney adding solo blasts. The Marlins went deep twice. On the strength of a grand slam by Adeiny Hechavarria and a two-run shot by Logan Morrison, they led 7-4 when reliever A.J. Ramos entered the game in the seventh and walked the first two batters he faced, Darwin Barney and Anthony Rizzo. After a passed ball advanced the runners, Navarro hit a dribbler off the end of the bat down the leftt-field line for a single that scored both runners and made it 7-6. Dave Henderson Jersey. That was all for Ramos as Ryan Webb came on. He didnt fare any better as Murphy, who played with the Marlins last season, hit the first pitch from Webb (2-6) into the left-field bleachers. "I know that guys a sinker ball guy," Murphy said of Webb. "I was looking for a sinker, he gave it to me and I put a pretty good swing on it." The Cubs added an insurance run in the eighth on Castros double. Carlos Villanueva (4- got the win. Kevin Gregg, despite walking the potential tying runs on base, worked out of a jam for his 29th save in 34 chances. But, of course, the star of the game was Murphy, who was considered nothing more than a placeholder for the remainder of the season when he arrived but now has to be considered for the future even though hes no youngster at 30. "I dont want to get too far ahead of myself and starting thinking about it a little too much and maybe its affecting my play on the field," he said of next season. "I dont want to do that, but at the same time, its at that part in September when it does start to get in the back of your mind a little bit more." NOTES: Before the game, the Cubs claimed RHP Daniel Bard off waivers from the Boston Red Sox and selected the contract of RHP Chang-Yong Lim from Triple-A Iowa. Bard, 28, was first-round pick (No. 28 overall) of the Red Sox in 2006 and was one of organizations most highly-regarded prospects at one point. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Cubs designated outfielder Cole Gillespie, who originally was in the lineup Wednesday, and RHP Michael Bowden for assignment. ... Rob Brantly, the Marlins opening-day catcher before being sent to the minors, is back with the expanded roster and eager for a second chance. "The biggest problem I had at the beginning of the season was I was trying to do too much," he said. ... Both teams are off on Thursday. The Cubs host the Brewers on with LHP Chris Rusin (2-3) taking on RHP Kyle Lohse (9-, while the Marlins open a home series against the Nationals with RHP Jose Fernandez (10-6) facing a pitcher to be announced by Washington. PHOENIX -- Edwin Encarnacion says Chase Field is "one of the best" places to hit in the majors. Danny Salazar Indians Jersey . Of course he should feel that way. The Toronto slugger homered for a record fifth straight time at the Arizona ballpark to help the Blue Jays beat the fading Arizona Diamondbacks 10-4 on Tuesday night. "Eddie hits everywhere," Toronto manager John Gibbons said, "but he hits really well here." Rajai Davis, Adam Lind and Moises Sierra also homered for the Blue Jays, who jumped out to a 5-0 lead in two innings off Wade Miley (9-10). Toronto clinched its third straight series. The Blue Jays have won five of six and seven of nine. "Its been a tough year for us but were playing some good baseball right now," Gibbons said. "Weve got some young guys in there that are contributing, bringing some energy. The bottom line too is when you pitch, youve got a chance, and thats pretty much what weve been doing lately." The Diamondbacks have lost three straight and five of six, all at home. Adam Eaton, Didi Gregorius and Miguel Montero homered for Arizona, which fell eight games behind Cincinnati for the final NL wild-card spot. Washington moved ahead of the Diamondbacks in the wild-card chase. "We have to figure out how to get something going," Eaton said. "It is called a grind for a reason and we cant put our heads down and pout about it. We have to get something going, some way and somehow and figure it out." Todd Redmond (3-2) allowed three runs and four hits in five innings for his second win in a row. "The offence did a great job tonight. Hats off to them," he said, "and I was able to keep the ball down and throw strikes." Encarnacion also doubled, singled and walked twice. Going back to May 2010, he has seven home runs in his past five games at Chase. "It surprised me when they told me that, but its good," he said. "You can see the ball good here -- I can see it." Miley didnt make it out of the second inning, allowing five runs and eight hits in 1 2-3 innings. Eaton had two throwing errors in left field, one of which led to an unearned run. Toronto got one run in the first on Brett Lawries RBI single, then added four in the second to bring a quick end to Mileys night. Kevin Pillar doubled with one out, then Redmond walked. Jose Reyes followed with a single but was picked off first base. That saved a run for Arizona because Davis sent Mileys 3-2 pitch over the wall in left-centre, a two-run shot that made it 4-0. Encarnacion doubled and Lawrie got another RBI single to put the Blue Jays up 5-0. Miley walked Mark DeRosa and the Arizona left-handers night was over. Josh Collmenter came on and retired J.P. Arencibia to end the inning. Redmond was perfect through three innings before Eaton led off the fourth with a home run to the swimming pool area in left field. The Diamondbacks went on to get runners at first and third with one out in the inning, but Aaron Hill grounded sharply to third and Toronto converted the inning-ending double play. The Blue Jays got a run off Collmenter in the fifth when DeRosa led off with a single and reached third when Eatons throw from left field after Arencibias fly out sailed into the Toronto dugout. DeRosa scored the unearned run on Sierras double off Eatons glove at the wall in left-centre. Arizona cut it to 6-3 on Gregorius two-run home run into the right field seats off Redmond in the fifth. Another leadoff homer, this one in the seventh by Montero off Neil Wagner, cut the lead to 6-4. Gerardo Parra followed with an infield single, but was erased when pinch hitter Willie Bloomquist grounded into a double play. Encarnacions towering home run off Will Harris in the seventh put Toronto up 7-4. Toronto blew the game open in the ninth. Linds pinch-hit home run off left-hander Eury de La Rosa made it 8-4, then Sierras two-run shot, his first homer of the season, put Toronto up 10-4. The shortstop Reyes threw A.J. Pollock out from his backside after knocking down a sharp grounder in the first inning. He said he had done that only once before, also in Arizona when he was with the New York Mets. Notes: The Diamondbacks recalled 3B Matt Davidson and C Tuffy Gosewisch and selected SS Chris Owings from Triple-A Reno. Owings was the PCL player of the year. LHP Matt Reynolds was transferred to the 60-day DL to make room for Owings on the 40-man roster. ... Owings grounded out as a pinch hitter in the fifth in his major league debut. ... Toronto recalled RHP Kyle Drabek from Triple-A Buffalo. The Blue Jays also selected LHP Ricky Romero, RHP Jeremy Jeffress and C Mike Nickeas from Buffalo. LHP Luis Perez returned from a medical rehab assignment and activated from the 60-day DL. ... Randall Delgado (4-5, 3.67 ERA) goes for Arizona and Mark Buehrle (11-7, 3.92) for Toronto in the series finale Wednesday afternoon. Eddie Robinson Jersey . Carlos Santana Indians Jersey. We want to put the best product on the field, guys in the right spot, ones that give us the best opportunity to win — things weve been saying each week, Smith added. Thats where were at.The Bucs have gone 1-7 under the 35-year-old McCown, who signed a two-year, $10 million contract as a free agent after having his best season as a pro while filling in for an injured Jay Cutler in Chicago last season. But after throwing for 13 touchdowns and just one interception a year ago with the Bears, McCown has struggled with his accuracy and decision-making while completing 58 per cent of his passes for 1,790 yards, nine TDs and 11 interceptions for Tampa Bay.Glennon hasnt had much more success getting the Bucs into the end zone, completing 57.6 per cent of his throws for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Bucs are averaging 18.2 points per game. While Glennon get another opportunity to run the offence, there probably wont be wholesale lineup changes. Were going to do what gives us the best chance to win. If playing a player in a position wont hurt our football team to win the football game, well always look at that. But we havent made it that far to even decide, Smith said.We havent started looking at video from Carolina, yet. We wont give up a game just the see to put a player in a situation like that, the coach added. I would like to think if theres a young player we havent played, when you go through a 2-11 season, you would have looked at that option a little bit earlier. I dont think we have a lot of those situations around.___Online:AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

ANAHEIM, Calif. Scottie Pippen Jersey . -- This was one time when C.J. Wilson didnt question manager Mike Scioscias decision to remove him from a game while an inning was in progress. Despite the fact that a bout with the flu had sapped his energy, he still was able to dominate the Chicago White Sox for 7 1-3 innings. Wilson bounced back strongly from his shortest outing of the season, taking a three-hit shutout into the eighth, and Josh Hamilton drove in three runs to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Wilson (7-5) was charged with one run, struck out six, and was lifted after 107 pitches. Last Tuesday at Houston, the left-hander gave up five runs, six hits and five walks through 2 2-3 innings in a 7-2 loss. "I dont even remember what happened five days ago. Ive just been in a stupor," Wilson said "Ive been sick with the flu the last couple of days, so I didnt really have much in the tank. That was pretty much all I had. I wish could say that I could have gone nine today, or throw 130 pitches, but it just wasnt in the cards." Joe Smith relieved Wilson, giving up a double to pinch-hitter Alejandro De Aza, a run-scoring infield hit by pinch-hitter Conor Gillaspie and an RBI single by Adam Eaton before retiring Gordon Beckham in a double-play grounder. Ernesto Frieri got three outs for his 10th save. The White Sox concluded a nine-game stretch in Southern California in which they lost two of three to San Diego, won two of three against the Dodgers and were swept by the Angels thanks to Wilsons gem. "Wilson threw a great game. We didnt get anything going, and we were just flat," manager Robin Ventura said. "We just couldnt get anybody on base. And when we did, he got a couple of double-play balls that really just took the life out of any kind of rally." Chicago first baseman Jose Abreu started in the designated hitter role for the 10th time and was 0 for 4 with a pair of double-play grounders. A top contender for AL Rookie of the Year, he is 9 for 38 with four homers and 11 RBIs as a DH. "I think we held him in check the whole series, but I think we just sort of got him at a bad time," Wilson said. Jose Quintana (3-6) allowed four runs, seven hits and four walks through 4 1-3 innings and struck out four. It was the eighth time in the left-handers 13 starts that he left a game with fewer than three runs of support, and he is 0-6 in those outings. "It just seemed like Q was battling all the time with guys on base," Ventura said. "I mean, hell walk a few guys here and there, but today he was just falling behind and not really locating like he normally does." Quintana escaped a bases-loaded jam in the first when he retired Hamilton on a popup and struck out C.J. Cron. But Hamilton drove in the Angels first run with a two-out double in the third, then made it 3-0 in the fifth with a bases-loaded two-run single after Quintana walked cleanup hitter David Freese. Cron followed with an RBI single that chased the left-hander. "In situations with guys on base, the biggest thing is putting the ball in play," Hamilton said. "One time I didnt and two times I did. You do what you can to help the team win. Weve done a great job the last few games getting runners in scoring position with two outs." Freese, who had never drawn more than two walks in any of his 507 previous regular-season games in the major leagues, got a free pass all four times up -- all on 3-2 counts. That tied a franchise record for a nine-inning game, and was the first time it happened since May 18, 2013, when the White Sox walked Chris Iannetta four times. "We worked a lot of walks today. Freese had the force field going today," Wilson said. "Anytime you put that much pressure on the starting pitcher and knock him out before the fifth inning, thats good." NOTES: This was the Angels third series sweep this season, and Jered Weaver had recorded a victory in each of them. ... The Angels are batting .170 with the bases loaded (8 for 47). ... The last time Wilson faced the White Sox was May 17, 2013, when he lost his second 3-0 decision to Chris Sale in a span of six days. ... Wilson has pitched at least five innings in 12 of his 13 starts without allowing any fourth-inning runs. ... Playing at home has meant everything so far in this best-of-seven series, with the host winning the first five tests. Colorado broke a 2-2 deadlock with an OT win in Saturdays Game 6 at the Pepsi Center, and the Wild hope the trend holds true again tonight. If Minnesota can extend the series on Monday, a decisive Game 7 will be played Wednesday in Denver. Colorado, however, could have star forward Matt Duchene back in Game 6. Duchene, who has been sidelined since March 29 with an injured left knee, practiced Sunday and will be a game-time decision on Monday. "If he is back its a huge addition for us," Avs forward Ryan OReilly said. "Hes been one of our best players all year, and for me, he really helps create offense playing on a line. He brings so much to the table it makes it a lot difficult for them (opponents)." Duchene led the Avs with 70 points (23 goals, 47 assists) in 71 games this season. The 23-year-old centermans only career playoff action came in a six- game run with Colorado against San Jose in the 2010 conference quarterfinals. Duchene had three assists in those six games. After winning the first two games on home ice, Colorado allowed Minnesota to tie the series at 2-2 with two straight victories in St. Paul. However, the Avalanche were able to regain their advantage on Saturday with a comeback victory. Nathan MacKinnons terrific rookie season continued, as the leading candidate for the Calder Trophy scored 3:27 into OT to lift Colorado to a 4-3 win in Game 5. MacKinnon also added two assists after being held without a point in consecutive losses at Minnesota. He had a goal and six assists in the first two games at Pepsi Center. Before getting the game-winning marker from MacKinnon, Colorado had to tie the game late in the third period. In a bad break for the Wild, the game-tying goal shouldnt have counted based on video review as Paul Stastny narrrowly beat a puck-carrying MacKinnon into the Minnesota zone. Kirk Hinrich Jersey. . However, the play wasnt blown dead for an offside. With play allowed to continue, MacKinnon chipped the puck ahead to Stastny, who snapped a shot from below the left circle that Wild goaltender Darcy Kuemper turned away. Stastny then gathered the rebound and slipped the puck into the slot, where P.A. Parenteau fired the puck home with 1:14 remaining in regulation for his first career playoff goal. "It is what it is, but to sit here and dwell on it, I dont think is going to do us any good," said Wild head coach Mike Yeo. "Obviously frustrating, obviously disappointing, but bottom line is, its not going to do us any good." In overtime, MacKinnon handled a pass from Gabriel Landeskog in the left circle, made a move around Wild defenseman Marco Scandella and scored on a shot to the top right corner. "I was kind of screaming for the puck from Landy. He obviously made a good heads-up play to me," MacKinnon said. "(Stastny) looked great on the forecheck. I kind of just fired it to the net and I dont know if it tipped off one of their defenders or not, but Im definitely very fortunate for the win." MacKinnon (18 years, 237 days) is the second-youngest player in NHL history to score an overtime goal in the playoffs. Don Gallinger was 17 years, 339 days when he scored an OT winner for Boston on March 21, 1943 against Montreal "We knew when we drafted him what kind of player we were drafting, and he had a solid game again tonight," Colorado head coach Patrick Roy said about MacKinnon. Semyon Varlamov made 29 saves for Colorado, but the best save belonged to Avalanche defenseman Nick Holden, who prevented a goal in the extra session by blocking a Matt Moulson shot. Kuemper surrendered four goals on 35 shots after facing a combined 34 shots in the previous two games. This is the third all-time playoff meeting between the clubs. The Wild won a 2003 conference quarterfinals matchup in seven games, while the Avalanche knocked off Minnesota in six games during the same round in 2008. Thirteen of the 18 all-time playoff games between Colorado and Minnesota have been decided by one goal. MIAMI -- Earl Morrall stepped in when the 1972 Miami Dolphins needed him most. [url=http://www.officialmarlinsbaseball.com/Edwin

MIAMI -- Earl Morrall stepped in when the 1972 Miami Dolphins needed him most. Edwin Jackson Jersey . And then he willingly stepped aside, earning enduring admiration from his teammates and coach Don Shula. Morrall, who started 11 games during the Dolphins perfect season and spent 21 years as an NFL quarterback, died Friday at age 79. He had been in failing health for some time. "There would be no perfect season, and probably no Super Bowl win in 1972, without Earl Morrall," Bob Griese said Friday. When Griese broke his ankle in 1972, Morrall came off the bench and started the final nine games of the regular season. Morrall won praise from Shula for returning to the sideline without complaint when Griese came back to play in the final two post-season games, including the Super Bowl to cap the only perfect season in NFL history. Morrall also played for the 49ers, Steelers, Lions, Giants and Colts, winning three Super Bowl rings. He came off the bench to replace an injured Johnny Unitas and help the Colts win the Super Bowl to cap the 1970 season, and he was the backup to Griese on the Dolphins 1973 championship team. Morrall also was the starting quarterback opposite Joe Namath in the 1969 Super Bowl after guiding the Colts to the conference title and winning the leagues MVP award. He struggled in that famous 16-7 loss to the Jets, throwing key interceptions, and was benched during the second half for Unitas. The 72 Dolphins were led by such future Pro Football Hall of Famers as Shula, Griese, Larry Csonka and Paul Warfield, but their season might be long forgotten if not for Morrall, then regarded as a journeyman who looked the part with his old-school flattop haircut. Thats why Shula -- who also coached Unitas and Dan Marino -- held Morrall in special regard as a quarterback. "When Bob went down, Earl stepped in like nothing happened, and we just won all the games," Shula said in a 2007 interview. "Then Griese was healthy for the AFC championship game against Pittsburgh, and I put Bob in the second half and he helped us come from behind and win the game. "Then I had a decision to make, which to me has always been the toughest decision Ive ever had to make -- who to start in the Super Bowl. Earl had done such a great job to get me there, but Bob was my quarterback going into the season, and he was my quarterback of the future. So I figured as long as Bob was healthy and ready to go, I was going back to Bob. "So Ive always said Unitas, Griese and Dan Marino are in the Hall of Fame, and Earl is in my own personal Hall of Fame." Griese said Morrall acknowledged he didnt like Shulas decision, but accepted it. "He said, I dont agree with you, but whatever you think is best for the team, Ill go along with it," Griese said. "Thats the way Earl was throughout his career. "He was the most popular guy in the locker room because of his personality. He always had a smile, a good word, a pat on the back, whether he knew you or didnt. He was just an upbeat good guy." The 1972 Dolphins finished 17-0, but Morrall said they seldom dwelled on their perfect record as the season progressed, because they were focused only on winning the Super Bowl after losing in the title game the previous year. He recalled a teammate raising the subject of being undefeated just once -- before the final regular-season game. "We were going to play the Colts, and thats the only time I heard something about it in the locker room," Morrall said in 2007. "It wasnt about going undefeated. It was, Guys, if were going to lose a game, this is the one to lose." At 38, Morrall was the oldest player on the 1972 Dolphins. He attended their 40th reunion in 2012 and said he thought most of his ex-teammates looked good. "Weve all gotten a little bigger and stronger," Morrall said with a smile. He was inducted into the Dolphins Walk of Fame that year. Morrall also attended an 80th birthday party for Shula in 2010. "Were just happy Don made it this long," Morrall said. "When he cut some of the players, they had ill feelings and might have got to him." Morrall was a Michigan native who played at Michigan State. He led the Spartans to two Rose Bowl victories, and was an infielder in the 1954 College World Series. "He was a great Spartan," current Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio said. Morrall was the second overall pick in the 1956 draft. He was never able to hold a No. 1 job for long but developed a reputation as a super sub and was once traded for Bobby Layne, one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. In retirement Morrall lived in Naples, Fla., where former teammate Charlie Babb also lives. "I was the youngest guy on the 72 team," said Babb, a defensive back. "Earl was 37 when Im a 22-year-old rookie. He was kind of like Pops, and he was the king of the flattop. He was kind of a father figure to us young guys, until it was time to hit him. Then we didnt mind hitting him. "Earl was a gentleman and a great representative of the NFL. Hell be missed." Andre Dawson Marlins Jersey . The deal, according to multiple Twitter-based reports out of New Jersey, is worth an average annual value of $3.1 million. Zubrus, 35, scored two goals and seven assists in 22 games with the Devils in 2012-13. Randolph totaled 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Gasol scored 10 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter for the NBA-best Grizzlies, who have won five straight and nine of their last 10 overall. Tony Allen chipped in 13 points, while Courtney Lee and Mike Conley added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the victors. Reggie Evans produced a solid 17-point, 20-rebound showing off the bench, but the Kings could not overcome 23 turnovers and the absence of Cousins, who missed a second straight game due to a virus. Rudy Gay netted 20 points and Ben McLemore added 18 in the setback. Turnovers have always been our biggest focus. Limiting turnovers, said McLemore. Our turnovers kind of hurt us tonight, but this game is behind us. We know what we have to do. Sacramento has dropped nine straight meetings against Memphis, including a controversial loss on Nov. 13 when Lee made a layup off an inbounds pass at the buzzer. The play was reviewed for several minutes before being upheld. The Kings protested the outcome, but NBA commissioner Adam Silver denied the request on Friday. They trailed by as many as 21 Sunday but pulled within seven at one point in the third quarter and scored the first six points of the fourth, cutting their deficit to 74-71. Jon Leuer ended a string of six straight Memphis misses with a jumper, and the Kings never pulled closer than three the rest of the way. Gasol scored three straight times down the floor to give the Grizzlies some breathing room. He made two free throws, rattled in a hook shot and hit a 20- footer that yielded an 85-76 cushion with under five minutes to play. Hes a clutch performer, Conley said of Gasol. He knows when to get his offense going when we need him to. Tonight was one of those nights. Memphis shot 8-of-11 from the free throw line over the final four minutes to seal the win and improve to 15-2 on the young season. Randolph scored on four consecutive possessions to break an 18-18 tie and help the Grizzlies take a 28-20 lead at the end of the opening quarter. Memphis bench scored 19 points in the second, including nine during a 13-4 that extended the margin to 51-30 with four minutes left in the half. The visitors led 58-42 at the break. NEW YORK -- Making a pair of thrifty deals to fill holes on their roster, the New York Yankees agreed to a $2 million, one-year contract with second baseman Brian Roberts and a $7 million, two-year deal with left-hander Matt Thornton. The deals are contingent on the players passing physicals, a person familiar with the agreements told The Associated Press on Tuesday, speaking on condition of anonymity because the contracts were not final. Roberts is among the options at second base to replace Robinson Cano, who left the Yankees for a $240 million, 10-year contract with Seattle. Kelly Johnson, signed to a $3 million deal, is another possibility. An All-Star in 2005 and 2007, the 36-year-old Roberts had spent his entire 13-year major league career with Baltimore. He has not played a full season since 2009 because of injuries. Roberts signed a $48 million, five-year contract before the 2009 season, then hit .283 with 16 homers, 79 RBIs and a big league-high 56 doubles. His injury problems started the following year, when he missed most of spring training with a herniated disk in his back, then strained an abdominal muscle in the fourth game of the season while stealing second base against Toronto. Roberts came down with pneumonia and didnt return until July 23. Then he missed the final six games of the season because of a concussion sustained when he knocked himself on the batting helmet with his bat after striking out in the ninth inning at Tampa Bay that Sept. 27. Roberts had another concussion while sliding intoo first base against Boston on May 16, 2011, and didnt return until June 12 the following year. Colorado Rockies Hoodie. He appeared in just 17 games due to season-ending hip surgery in August, and had another operation for a sports hernia in December. His total of 77 games last season was his highest in four years, and he hit .249 with eight homers and 39 RBIs. Roberts strained his right hamstring while stealing second base in Baltimores third game of the season April 4 and was sidelined until June 30. The 37-year-old Thornton replaces Boone Logan, who left for a $16.5 million, three-year contract with Colorado. A 10-year big league veteran, Thornton was 0-4 with a 3.74 ERA in 60 relief appearances this year for the Chicago White Sox and Boston, which acquired him in July for minor league outfielder Brandon Jacobs. Thornton made $5.5 million in each of the last two seasons, and the Red Sox declined a $6 million option, which included a $1 million buyout. His agreement with the Yankees was first reported by the YES Network. When the agreements are completed, along with a pending three-year deal with outfielder Carlos Beltran, the Yankees projected luxury tax payroll for 2014 will rise to $177.7 million for 15 players. Thats about the maximum if the team wants to remain under the $189 million threshold, which includes $11 million to $12 million for benefits. New York would gain flexibility if Alex Rodriguez is suspended for most of the season, relieving the team of a large percentage of his $25 million salary. PHILADELPHIA - The Devils wasted leads in two straight periods and were rattled on the road, in danger of a season-opening collapse. Eddie Robinson Jersey .Cory Schneider settled in at the right time in net to send New Jersey out a winner.Dainus Zubrus scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and Michael Cammalleri had two goals, leading the Devils to a 6-4 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.Michael Ryder, Adam Henrique, and Patrick Elias also scored for the Devils.Claude Giroux had a goal and Wayne Simmonds scored twice to help Philadelphia rally from a three-goal deficit. Vincent Lecavalier also scored for the Flyers, who lost 2-1 in their season opener Wednesday night against Boston. The Devils won the first of a four-game road trip, the second-longest stretch to start a season in team history.Schneider won his first game in goal since taking over full-time for Martin Brodeur and signing a $42 million, seven-year contract in the summer. He was good at key times, Devils coach Pete DeBoer said. When we needed some saves in the third, I thought he was really good.Schneider stopped 12 of 13 shots in the third and had 34 saves overall. He played a career-high 45 games last season and now, as the undisputed No. 1 goaltender, might be expected to push that number to 65 or more. Schneider had a 16-15-12 record last season and posted a 1.97 goals-against average, third best in the NHL.My guys bailed me out a couple of times with some big goals, Schneider said. It just seems like that was the kind of game last year that might have gotten away from us.The Devils nearly let this one get away, too. They blew 3-0 and 4-3 leads before taking the lead for good on Zubrus goal early in the third.Elias had snapped a tie game with a goal early in the third to make it 4-3.Much like they did in the second period, the Flyers came storming back with the tying goal. Lecavalier, a disappointment last year in his first season with the Flyers, scored off a 2-on-1 break to make it 4-all.Zubrus, though, wiped out the momentum with the go-ahead goal only 15 seconds later. Moments after the Flyers killed a penalty, Zubrus poked the puck from the right circle off goaltender Steve Masons stick, and the lead held this time.Theres a lot of things we want to clean up, but we did a lot of good things, too, DeBoer said. We still got two points in a tough building. The Devils seemingly had the game in hand after three straight goals on nine shots against Mason.Mason, starting his second game in two nights, was caught up in a pair of deflections that gave the Devils the early edge.Ryder fired one from the circle over Masons right shoulder for a goal in the first. The Devils added two more in the second, both on deflections. Henriques shot went off Flyers defenceman Luke Schenns skate and Cammalleri scored off a similar bounce for a 3-0 lead just 5:33 into the second. With the deflections that are going in, those are tough goals to get past, Mason said.New Jerseys Jaromir Jagr had an assist on the goal for his 1,756th career point, sixth on the NHLs career scoring list. He also assisted on Cammalleris empty-netter in the final seconds.Down by three, the Flyers rallied.Giroux, still rounding into shape after missing part of the preseason with an unspecified injury, cut it to 3-1 on a slapper.Simmonds then scored twice in 57 seconds to tie it at 3. His first goal was pretty much kicked into the net. Simmonds stuck his second one just under the buzzer. His tying goal was reviewed a€” and when the videoboard showed his goal just made it with 0.6 seconds left, the crowd roared.Simmonds has been on a bit of a hot streak at home, although his last two games were separated by about six months. He scored three goals against the New York Rangers in Game 6 of a first-round Eastern Conference playoff game.Mason stopped only 20 shots after posting 31 saves in the opener. We have an opportunity to get back into it this weekend, Mason said. The Flyers are 0-2 for the second straight season. They lost their first games last season en route to a 1-7 start. Its always not the start we want, Giroux said. We have a lot of work to do, we know that.NOTES: Flyers D Braydon Coburn was a late scratch with a lower body injury. He was on crutches during player introductions. ...
