PARIS - Bordeaux coach Willy Sagnol has apologized for making disparaging comments about African players in football, although he still maintains they were misinterpreted against a backlash of widespread criticism. Josh Sitton Jersey .Sagnol, capped 58 times by France and a member of the team which lost the 2006 World Cup final, gave a question and answer session Tuesday to readers of Sud Ouest regional newspaper when the subject of African players was raised. The advantage of what I would call the typical African player is that he isnt expensive when you sign him, (he is) a player who is ready for combat, but football isnt just about that, Sagnol said.Explaining himself, he continued: Football is also (about) technique, intelligence. You need a bit of everything. You need Nordics too, Nordics are good.Speaking Thursday at a pre-match news conference ahead of Saturdays game with Lens, Sagnol tried to explain his comments. If by my lack of clarity, or my imperfect semantics, I may have shocked, humiliated or hurt people then I am sorry, Sagnol said. The interpretation that these people may have made does not reflect my way of thinking in any way or my humanist convictions. However, he said the comments made sense in a sporting context. When I spoke about the African (player) who is cheaper and ready for combat, I simply meant to talk about the young African player arriving in Europe with all of his will to win and often to escape from a precarious situation, Sagnol continued as he read from pre-prepared notes. Then, since we were in a debate about football, the intelligence I spoke of was obviously related to tactical intelligence. The forming of young players in Africa, probably because of a lack of financial means, or (lack) of infrastructure, isnt always as complete as whats available in Europe.Sagnol distanced himself from accusations that his viewpoint was offensive. In no way did I mean to talk about an individuals intelligence in the proper sense of the term. Regarding certain accusations of racism, Im 37 (and) Ive spent 32 of them in a football dressing room. Ive never had a problem with anyone, the former Bayern Munich player said. But Lens coach Antoine Kombouare, who was born in New Caledonia, is among those who felt offended by Sagnol.Lets make things clear: this is not a case of him being clumsy. Hes really messed up, Kombouare said. What he said is serious. Its unacceptable. Explaining that an African player is cheaper ... I felt humiliated and hurt. The International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (LICRA) strongly condemned Sagnol, as did former Marseille president Pape Diouf, who called for African players to boycott one round of French league games in protest.French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet, who formerly employed Sagnol as coach of Frances Under-21 side, defended him, while former teammate Lilian Thuram — an active anti-racism campaigner — was more measured.I played alongside Willy, hes somebody I respect. I know him very well, Thuram told Sud Ouest. I dont think you should put Willy Sagnol on trial, but you should put prejudice on trial. Each one of us harbours some prejudice, which is why people working in football, who have a certain exposure to the media, should be educated on this subject.Sagnols captain at Bordeaux is Senegal international Lamine Sane, who called Sagnols comments clumsy before defending him, as did club president Jean-Louis Triaud. He doesnt have any twisted ideas. He believes in all the black players in the team, Sane told French radio. We believe in him and we hope to go very far with him.Bordeaux forward Henri Saivet, who is black, told RMC radio that Sagnol apologized. We all now pertinently well that the coach is not a racist, Saivet said. Its true that, at first, we asked ourselves a few questions. But he explained how it happened. He apologized to the players. That was very important. Datone Jones Jersey .Cueto allowed one run over eight innings, and Todd Frazier and Devin Mesoraco hit back-to-back homers on Tuesday night, sending the Cincinnati Reds to a 3-1 victory that pushed the Milwaukee Brewers to the verge elimination from wild card contention. Bryan Bulaga Jersey . Its the first-place Blue Jays against the team closest to them in the American League East. Toronto enters the series with a four-and-a-half game lead on the Yankees. Its another chance, the second of what will be as many as six, to wave goodbye to New Yorks future Hall of Fame shortstop, Derek Jeter. http://www.authenticpackersjerseysnfl.com/packers-randall-cobb-navy-blue-jersey/ . -- Frederik Gauthier scored twice and tacked on an assist as the Rimouski Oceanic extended their win streak to 11 games by defeating the visiting Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 5-2 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.PITTSBURGH -- Wandy Rodriguez has been shut down for the remainder of the season by the Pittsburgh Pirates because of continuing pain in the left-handers pitching arm. Rodriguez has been on the disabled list since June 6 with stiffness in his left forearm, though he was also found to have arthritis in his elbow when examined by orrthopedist James Andrews last month. David Bakhtiari Jersey. The Pirates made the move Saturday. Rodriguez made 12 starts for the Pirates this season, going 6-4 with a 3.59 ERA. DENVER - Less than a week removed from a 51-point coming out party, Terrence Ross was at it again. Nike Roshe Run Saldi . Ross had 16 points midway through Fridays game in Denver, connecting on six of his seven field goal attempts, none more memorable than his final bucket of the half. The Raptors guard picked off a pass from Kenneth Faried - one of the Nuggets 26 turnovers - and proceeded to go the length of the floor before throwing down one of the more emphatic one-handed dunks youll ever see directly over the defending Manimal. "I remember I had the ball, (Faried) had sprinted all the way down into the paint," Ross recalled. "So I knew he was kind of at a disadvantage and couldnt jump as high. Im coming full speed (and) he still jumped pretty high but at the same time I had enough room to still finish." The Raptors bench said it all. Jonas Valanciunas had to use most of his seven-foot-four wingspan to hold half his teammates from running on the floor. Ross had gotten their attention. "Man, its got to be a nomination for dunk of the year so far, especially on a guy like that," said All-Star DeMar DeRozan, who was returning from a two-game absence with an ankle injury. "That was big. I damn sure wouldnt have done it." Ross was 11-years-old the last time the Raptors had won in Denver. It was December 30, 2003, over a decade ago. Since then Toronto had dropped nine straight in the Mile High City by an average of 17.8 points per loss. The Raptors snapped that skid on Friday. In fact, it was the third time this season that theyve broken a road losing streak of eight or more games to a specific opponent (winning in Milwaukee for the first time in nine visits and snapping a 10-game slide to the Lakers in Los Angeles). They defeated the Nuggets by double digits and tied a franchise mark for most wins in January with 11. You wouldnt know it after the game. "Well take the W but I was disappointed and I let the players know about it," Dwane Casey said following a 100-90 victory over the depleted Nuggets. "I was disappointed in the close." Toronto led by as many as 25 early in the fourth before the visitors went ice cold. They went six minutes without scoring and didnt register a field goal over the final 7:44 of the game. "You cant come in and feel like youve got the game won with a 20-point lead," said the Raptors coach, infuriated after the victory. "Youve got to continue to execute, continue to be strong with the ball, continue to execute defensively if you want to be serious about winning in this league and until you grow up and do that, youre going to end up on the short end more times than not." "We cant be satisfied with the way we played in the fourth quarter." Times have changed and so too have the expectations. The bar has been raised, evident in Caseys post-game rant. "You have to respect that," said DeRozan, who tallied 14 of his 19 points in the third quarter. "Its not acceptable how we finished that game off with the turnovers. We have to learn to keep leads and close out games." Caseys team was excellent through three quarters, and to begin the fourth. When it was all said and done they were fortunate to be facing an undermanned Nuggets squad, missing leading scorer Ty Lawson, along with Nate Robinson and Andre Miller. Without a true point guard in the lineup, the Nuggets turned the ball over more than any Raptors opponent this season, resulting in 29 Toronto points. Still, Denver out-rebounded the Raptors by nine and bested them 50-38 in the paint. "They kicked our behinds in the paint and that was one of our focuses going into the game," Casey said. "We were soft going to the ball, slow reacting to the ball." In the end, the Raptors opened a five-game trip with a win, got off the schneid in Denver and welcomed DeRozan back to the lineup 24 hours after he was named a first-time All-Star. "Well take the win," Casey said. "Were happy with the win but we cant be satisfied. Nike Roshe Run Uomo Saldi . Ariza played with the Rockets in 2009-10 and averaged a career-best 14.9 points and 5.6 rebounds that season. He could be a replacement for Chandler Parsons if the Rockets choose not to match the offer sheet Parsons signed with the Dallas Mavericks. Scarpe New Balance 574 Offerte .Charlie Coyles goal late in the third period stood up as the winner as the Wild snapped a two-game losing skid with a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday, their ninth win in their last 10 visits to Edmonton. http://www.itscarpenikesaldi.com/adidas-zx-flux.html . The Irishman managed to save par from a fairway bunker on the last in a round of 4-under 68 to move to 11 under on the Golf du Palais Royal course. McGrane, whose only previous European Tour success was a nine-shot victory in the 2008 China Open, started his second round late Friday after a lengthy delay to the start of play because of high wind.AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Kevin Harvick had a nice send-off with Richard Childress Racing, winning his penultimate race with the team at Phoenix International Raceway. Back at Phoenix four months later, he stamped his arrival at Stewart-Haas Racing by winning the second race with his new team -- doing it on the same weekend he celebrated his 13th wedding anniversary, no less. Yeah, Harvick kind of likes it here in the desert. Disappointed at the Daytona 500 after a last-lap crash, Harvick bounced back quickly by charging to the front and dominating the rest of the way Sunday to win consecutive races at PIR with different teams. "Man, this is awesome," Harvick said. Harvick won the fall race after Carl Edwards ran out of fuel at the white flag. He needed no help Sunday. Harvick had the fastest car in practice and kept it rolling in the race, charging to the front after starting 13th and pretty much staying there. He led 224 of 312 laps on the odd-shaped mile oval and pulled away on several late restarts for his fifth NASCAR Sprint Cup victory at PIR, passing Jimmie Johnson for the most at the track. Not bad for someone whos still trying to feel his way around with a new team and new crew chief Rodney Childers. "It took long enough," SHR co-owner Gene Haas joked. "This phenomenal. I think there was a lot of skepticism last year about what myself and Tony (Stewart) what we were up to, was there a lot of madness to this. Quite frankly, its a great team, theres a lot of synergy at the shop, people working together. I dont know what we did, but I think we put together a great organization." Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished second, pole sitter Brad Keselowski was third and Penske Racing teammate Joey Logano fourth. Jeff Gordon rounded out the top five on a warm and partly cloudy day after downpours wiped out the final 32 laps of Saturdays Nationwide race, won by Kyle Busch Harvick won at Phoenix during the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship in the fall, giving him an outside shot at catching Johnson for the series title in his final season with Richard Childress Racing. He came up short, but the victory and a third-place finish in the standings gave him a bit of momentum heading into for his first season with Stewart-Haas. Harvick had a solid finish in his sights at Daytona last week before a last-lap crash dropped him to 13th. At Phoenix, Haarvick just missed the final stage of knockout qualifying, nipped by 0. Nike Roshe Run Shop Online Italia. 001 seconds, but had the fastest car in Saturday mornings final practice session. He had no trouble making his way through the field after the green flag dropped in the race, passing Keselowski on the apron, then Logano for the lead on lap 74. Harvick maintained the lead coming out of green-flag pit stops with just under 200 laps left and again with about 70 laps left. A series of cautions came out late in the race and Harvick easily pulled away each time to earn a quick win with SHR a nice capper to his anniversary weekend with wife DeLana. "Im just the lucky guy who gets to drive around the race track when they have dialed in like they did today," Harvick said. "We were able to put it altogether." Earnhardt had a whirlwind week after winning his second Daytona 500, needing his girlfriend to get him extra clothes while he went on a media tour. He had a solid follow-up, putting the distractions aside to qualify fifth. Earnhardt worked his way up in the opening third of the race, passing Logano and Keselowski to pull up behind Harvick. He dropped back a couple times and fought back to get Harvick within his sights again, but didnt have enough to track him down. "Ive got to congratulate Kevin. Those guys were two-tenths faster than everyone all weekend in practice. They were just phenomenal," Earnhardt said. "To be able to run with them all day was a big confidence builder for us." NASCARs new knockout qualifying system made its Sprint Cup debut at Phoenix and Keselowski came out on top, edging Logano for his fourth career pole. Not long after that, Keselowski found out he would be without his crew chief for the race; Paul Wolfe left the desert back to North Carolina for the birth of his first child. With team engineer Brian Wilson and its Nationwide Series competition director Greg Erwin at the helm, Keselowski ran near the front all day, but, like everyone else, didnt have the speed to keep up with Harvick. "They beat everybody before they came to the track today," Keselowski said. "Its a great combination. They were prepared for the weekend. To me, Randy Childers is like a rubber-stamp, carbon-copy of Paul Wolfe. Hes a great crew chief and it was just a matter of time before he found a combination that he excelled with." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

(SportsNetwork. Eric Berry Youth Jersey .com) - The Ottawa Senators will try to record consecutive wins for the first time since early February when they welcome the sliding Nashville Predators for tonights clash at Canadian Tire Centre. Watch the Senators vs. Predators live on TSN starting at 7:30pm et/4:30pm pt. The Senators ended a two-game slide by capping a four-game road trip with Saturdays 5-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets. It was only the second win in the last six games for Ottawa, which last posted consecutive victories when it beat St. Louis and Buffalo on Feb. 4 and 6, respectively. Ottawa has made the playoffs in each of the past two seasons and is trying desperately to get into the Eastern Conference postseason picture for 2014. The Sens are currently four points out of a playoff spot in the East. Eric Gryba, Kyle Turris and Mike Hoffman tallied in the second period for Ottawa, which was able to hold on for Saturdays win despite a ferocious attack by the Jets over the closing 20 minutes. Milan Michalek added a goal and two assists for the Senators, who managed a split of their four-game Canadian road swing after dropping the previous two. Ales Hemsky picked up three helpers and Jared Cowen also tallied to back a 46- save effort from Craig Anderson. The Senators goaltender stopped all 22 shots he faced in the third period when the Jets outshot Ottawa by a 22-7 margin. "No lead is safe until the game is over and that was the case tonight," said Ottawa head coach Paul MacLean. "Our goaltender really held the fort for us there at the end." The Senators are playing four of their next five games at home, but the club is just 13-12-5 in Canadas capital city this season. The Predators have scored a total of three goals during the current four-game slide and they were shut out 1-0 by Columbus on Saturday. The Predators fired 28 shots at Sergei Bobrovsky on Saturday, but the Blue Jackets netminder turned aside every one. Artem Anisimov tallied the games lone goal with 6:25 left in the third period. Anisimov entered the neutral zone on the rush and dropped a pass back to James Wisniewski. The defenseman quickly pushed the puck back up to Anisimov, who rushed in on net with a power move and backhanded a shot past Nashville netminder Pekka Rinne. Rinne turned aside 35 shots, but received no offensive support as the Predators lost for the seventh time in their last eight contests. "We played strong as a team, we never quit," said Rinne. "Its a good sign, but obviously right now the only thing we care about is getting points." Nashville is kicking off a three-game road trip tonight and will play seven of its next eight tilts away from Music City. The Predators are 10 points out of a postseason spot in the West and could be headed for a second straight season out of the playoffs. BEREA, Ohio -- The Browns hit the seasons halfway point in an all-too-familiar funk. Isco Jersey . They have lost three straight games, sensational punt returner Travis Benjamin is done for the year with a knee injury, trade rumours about top wide receiver Josh Gordon persist and Cleveland appears headed toward another disappointing finish. Theres the usual doom. Just not as much gloom. "I feel like a lot of good things are happening," said linebacker Paul Kruger. Less than 24 hours after a 23-17 loss at Kansas City -- a game the Browns could have won if they had minimized their mistakes in the second half -- there were reasons for optimism in Cleveland. A strong performance by quarterback Jason Campbell, making his first start in 11 months, gave the Browns (3-5) a welcomed boost after starter Brian Hoyer sustained a season-ending knee injury on Oct. 3 and Brandon Weeden played so poorly in consecutive losses. Campbell shook off a sluggish start and finished 22 of 36 for 293 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs tough defence. Campbells outing was a much-needed shot in the arm, and coach Rob Chudzinski didnt waste any time in naming the nine-year veteran his starter for this weeks home game against Baltimore. "I thought Jason played very well," said Chudzinski, already on his third quarterback through eight weeks of his first season. "After looking at the tape, he was able to manage the game. He was able to escape and get out of some trouble and create some plays. He did a good job from a decision-making standpoint as far as protecting the football and he gave us a lift in that game, so were real pleased with how he played." Kruger said Campbell invigorated the Browns on both sides of the ball. "He did a great job," Kruger said. "He made plays and put us in a position to win." Campbells composure allowed the Browns offence, which didnt get its initial first down until the final four minutes of the second quarter, to turn things around in the second half. Cleveland was a play or two away from an upset, but couldnt finish the job. "The guys did a great job stepping up protecting for him," said wide receiver Davone Bess, who dropped three passes and fumbled away a critical punt. "Jason stood in the pocket and made some crucial, crucial throws. He had a really solid game. ... We just fell short." Bess blunder with 7:13 left in the fourth was Clevelands most costly miscue. After Benjamin tore his anterior cruciate ligament, Bess took the speedsters spot returning punts. With Kansas City leading 20-17, Bess tried to catch a punt on the run, but took his eyes off the ball, coughed it up and Kansas City recovered. If Bess had held on, the Browns would have had the ball near midfield with a chance to tie the score or possibly take the lead. "I had it," said Bess, who also didnt handle a fourth-down pass from Campbell with 2:12 remaining. "When I got my eyes up to see where the defenders were, they were there and I must not have had it 100 per cent. Its just discipline. Those can be game-changing plays. It was just an opportunity I saw and I swung." Hell get another swing or two as Chudzinski plans to stick with Bess as Benjamins replacement. "I think that Davone is everything you could ask for in terms of a guy working and doing the things to be the very best he can," Chudzinski said. "Hes a pros pro in that way. I have faith in him that hell make the corrections." As the Browns begin focusing on the Ravens (3-4), theres still a chance Gordon wont be with them. The second-year wide receiver has been the subject of trade speculation for weeks and the Browns will listen to offers on Gordon up until Tuesdays 4 p.m. deadline. Theres a market for Gordon, who had five catches for 132 yards and a TD on Sunday. Hes arguably Clevelands best player, but hes also their most enigmatic as another failed drug test could lead to a minimum one-year league suspension. CEO Joe Banner and general manager Michael Lombardi could make a deal for the right package. Chudzinski, though, said the Browns have no intention of letting Gordon leave. "We have no plans of trading any of our guys, including Josh," he said. "Were not shopping him." Chudzinskis first eight games have been challenging with injuries, quarterback changes and tough losses. Its only been half a season and felt like several. But through it all, the Browns have shown resiliency and Chudzinski is confident his team will continue to improve over the final eight games. "Its been a tough stretch," he said. "What guys have learned playing some very good teams is weve played -- whether its a half, whether its a quarter, whether its a couple series or three quarters of games weve played very well at times. Its a matter of consistently putting it together for four quarters. Thats what the mission is were on right now." The contract will keep Thompson with the team through the 2018-19 season. The Warriors confirmed a multiyear deal with Thompson. It was the final day for Thompson and the team to get a deal done or the shooting guard could become a restricted free agent next summer, when the Warriors would have had an opportunity to match any offer sheet he signed.Golden State decided not to risk the relationship turning sour in restricted free agency or another team putting a clause in an offer sheet that mightve made it difficult to match. And Thompson and his agent, Bill Duffy, got what they wanted all along: a maximum deal and financial security now.Its hard for me to express how excited and happy I am to know that I will be playing in front of the best fans in the NBA for a long time, Thompson said in a statement. This team, under this ownership group and with this collection of players, has an incredibly bright future. I could not ask for a better situation and am extremely thankful.Warriors general manager Bob Myers and Thompson will hold a news conference to formally announce the deal before Saturday nights home opener against the Los Angeles Lakers. In a statement, Myers also praised ownerships commitment to winning and said the team is excited to have one of the top young players in the NBA under contract for the next several years.Golden State drafted Thompson out of Washington State with the 11th overall pick in 2011. He has become one of the NBAs top two-way guards and teamed with fellow Splash Brothers star Stephen Curry to form one of the leagues best backcourts.Thompson averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists last season, helping the Warriors reach the playoffs for the second straight year. He shot 44.4 per cent from the floor and 41.7 per cent from 3-point range.Curry congratulated Thompson for the extension on Twitter, writing: Splash bros continue. The Warriors decided to build around the tandem when they refused to include Thompson in any trade talks with Minnesota for Kevin Love this off-season, believing all along that hhe and Curry could carry them to a title on their streaky shooting strokes. Isco Real Madrid Jersey. Thompson began to validate the decision over the summer, dazzling during the FIBA World Cup in Spain to help the U.S. win gold. The payday will put more expectations on Thompson, especially with fans still split about losing Love to Cleveland, but he appears ready for the challenge.Thompson led the Warriors with 21.7 points per game in the preseason, shooting 50.9 per cent from the floor, including 50 per cent from beyond the arc. He also scored 19 points in Golden States season-opening 95-77 win at Sacramento on Wednesday night.First-year coach Steve Kerr, a former NBA player and general manager with the Phoenix Suns, said before the extension was announced that Thompson never looked affected by the negotiations. It can definitely affect a player to think about all that stuff, worry about injury, whatever. Im pretty confident in Klay that hes just going to play, Kerr said.Thompsons contributions go beyond shooting and scoring. At 6-foot-7 and 215 pounds, the lengthy Thompson often defends the other teams best guard. That includes covering everybody from the Clippers Chris Paul to Lakers star Kobe Bryant, taking pressure off teammates on the perimeter, most notably the undersized Curry.Myers made extending Thompsons contract one of his top off-season priorities, and he predicted from the get-go that it could go right up to the deadline. The Warriors were also trying to balance Thompsons needs with their own payroll concerns. After all, the team will be facing similar scenarios with Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli next year and has increasingly less room to wiggle under the salary cap with its current roster.Thompsons deal eclipses the contract Curry signed prior to the 2012-13 season when he was due for an extension.Golden State signed Curry to a $44 million, four-year extension on Oct. 31, 2012. Curry, who started his first All-Star Game for the Western Conference last season, was coming off a second surgery on his right ankle in as many years that summer, and questions persisted about his durability. That risk worked out well for the Warriors. Currys contract has become one of the leagues best bargains, and Golden State is banking on Thompsons talents to evolve in much the same way now, especially with the leagues next television deal widely expected to increase player salaries.___Antonio Gonzalez can be reached at: www.twitter.com/agonzalezAP cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

SUWON, South Korea -- Canadas Amy Cotton narrowly missed a bronze medal en route to finishing fifth at a judo World Cup on Saturday. Mamadou Sakho Jersey . The Montreal native lost the duel for one of the two bronze medals in a match that was decided in overtime, bowing out by an ippon to South Koreas Gyeong-Mi Jeong. "Amy had a good day today," said Canadas coach Marie-Helene Chisholm. "Shes coming back from an injury. . . Her main goal this weekend was to get back into competition mode and she succeeded in that. This World Cup was a good test for her." Earlier in the day, Cotton had dispatched Mongolias Uyanga Bayasgalan with an ippon in the under 78-kilogram category, then went on to beat Italys Assunta Galeone with another ippon. Cotton, whose injury forced her to skip the Pan American Games in October, lost Saturdays semifinal by ippon to Germanys Luise Malzhan which relegated her to the battle for bronze. Eliaquim Mangala France Jersey . As for regular Olympic spectators, theyre being warned that most travel insurance policies wont cover acts of terrorism or war. The Games in southern Russia, which run from Feb. 7-23, are being staged amid unprecedented security and under global warnings of danger. Karim Benzema France Jersey . With an unusual offensive burst, the Kings proved their captain correct and headed back to San Jose with a flicker of hope. Justin Williams and Marian Gaborik scored two goals apiece, and the Kings emphatically avoided first-round playoff elimination with a 6-3 victory over the Sharks in Game 4 on Thursday night. http://www.francesoccerjerseystore.com/World-Cup-Zinedine-Zidane-France-Jersey/ .com) - Myles Mack had 21 points, Kadeem Jack scored 20 and Rutgers shocked No. Tim Duncan could have easily gone out on top, with his fifth NBA championship trophy under his arm and his health intact just a few months after his 38th birthday. Theres just no way. Duncan is having too much fun with his San Antonio Spurs coaches and teammates, and hes playing too well to call it quits now. Duncan has decided to exercise the option on his contract for 2014-15 and will return next season, a person with knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press on Monday. The person requested anonymity because an official announcement has not been made. As the Spurs beat the two-time defending champion Miami Heat in the NBA Finals earlier this month, Duncan was asked several times about his future, as he has been for the last five or six years. He was noncommittal, saying he would take some time after the season ended to mull his decision. But after Game 5, most of the Spurs said they expected the group to return and now Duncan has reached his decision, which was first reported by Yahoo! Sports. He will make about $10.3 million next season in the final year of a two-year agreement that was drawn up specifically to allow the Spurs the financial flexibility to surround Duncan with top-shelf talent. "He feels a responsibility to his teammates," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said after the team won the championship. "He enjoys them. He wants to hang around as long as he can while hes useful and while hes having an impact on the game. He takes care of his body. He works out all summer long with a variety of different things, boxing, swimming. Hes very careful about what he puts in his body, so he does everything he can to maintain a level of play. "At some point," Popovich added, "that will stop." But not this year. When Duncan looked around at the Spurs, he saw every reason to come back and try to do just about the only thing the SSpurs havent done during his 17 years there -- win back-to-back titles. Hugo Lloris Jersey. In Popovich he has perhaps the best coach in the game, one who has established a culture of teamwork, success and stability that is unparalleled in the league. In Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, he has two trusted teammates who have been by his side for years, have sacrificed money, fame and statistics right along with him to build the Spurs organization into the envy of the NBA. And in Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, Duncan has a young, fresh-faced star on the rise to carry more of the load as the Big Three get older. "With the front office putting the teams together that weve had and us playing smaller roles and our roles changing over the years, and us happy to accept the roles that were in, I feel we can do it until we feel we dont want to do it anymore," Duncan said two weeks ago. Perhaps as important as anything, Duncan is still one of the best big men in the league. He was named first team All-NBA in 2012-13 as he helped the Spurs to the finals, where they lost to the Heat in a heart-breaking seven-game series. This season, Duncan averaged 15.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in just 29.2 minutes per game, playing in a system expertly devised by Popovich to limit the wear and tear on his body. He shot almost 57 per cent in the finals and dismantled Heat star Chris Bosh, who grew up with a Duncan poster on his bedroom wall. "Weve been on our last run for the last five or six years from how everyone wants to put it," Duncan said. "We show up every year, and we try to put together the best teams and the best runs possible because what people say doesnt matter to us. "As I said, as long as we feel were being effective, were going to stay out here and were going to play. We feel like we can be effective, and we have been." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

There won’t be a similar conspiracy after the Super Bowl. Cheap Jerseys . According to a report from ESPN, the NFL’s custom – set up long before allegations the New England Patriots deflated balls ahead of their AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts – is to use independent and impartial equipment managers and ball attendants for the Super Bowl. D.J Augustin scored 20 points and Taj Gibson had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 102-94 win over Philadelphia on Wednesday night, handing the 76ers their 22nd straight loss. The Sixers are four losses shy of matching the NBA record for the longest single-season losing streak. The Cleveland Cavaliers set the record of 26 consecutive losses in the 2010-11 season. The Vancouver Grizzlies (1995-96), Denver Nuggets (1997-9 and Charlotte Bobcats (2011-12) each lost 23 straight. "Winnable game," 76ers coach Brett Brown said. "I say that because a group thats been losing ... still stays together. They still compete. Im proud of them." The Sixers also lost their 17th straight home game since beating Charlotte on Jan. 15. They were 8-11 at home at that point and had already defeated Miami, the Bulls, and Houston in Philadelphia. After the Sixers were 3-0 following a Nov. 2 win over Chicago, fans held signs that said, "3-0. Thats No Bull." That seems like another season at times after the Sixers traded Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes and Lavoy Allen at the deadline for draft picks, a necessary step for a rebuilding franchise. Unlike most of the first 21 losses in the streak, the Sixers were competitive until the final possessions, never letting the Bulls lead by more than 11. Sixers centre Byron Mullens, who hadnt attempted a shot all game, hit consecutive 3s to pull the Sixers to 83-80. He made a nifty save on a ball headed out of bounds, leading to Henry Sims bucket and a foul. With a chance to tie the game, Sims missed the free throw with 8:19 left. Thaddeus Young bailed him out a possession later with a 3-pointer that made it 85-all. Joakim Noah buried a go-ahead 3 from the top of the arc and Augustin followed with one from the sideline to put the Bulls up 91-85. Tony Wrotens 3 made it 93-90 but it was just more false hope. Carlos Boozers emphatic dunk stretched the lead to six and the Bulls did enough to hang on and move to .500 onn the road (17-17). Wholesale Jerseys. The Sixers have lost three of four by less than 10 points after losing each of the previous 10 games by double-digits. "We knew it would be this type of game," Augustin said. "We just tried to fight them until the end and it was a fight, a real fight." The Sixers could make it 23 straight with a loss Friday to New York. Then three straight on the road at Chicago, San Antonio and Houston. If the Sixers lose all of those games, the potential record 27th loss would come March 29 vs. Detroit. Young scored 24 points for the Sixers and Wroten had 17. "Were going to get one soon," Wroten said. Boozer had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulls and Noah added 14 points and 10 boards. The Sixers solid 11-for-24 3-point shooting was undone by a 9 of 19 mark from the free-throw line. "There is just no inch for error," Brown said. "Theres no wiggle room at all." The Sixers stayed tight and chipped away in the third, making it 64-61 on Youngs 3-pointer. Sims was 0 for 7 from the floor until his first basket cut it to 64-63. The Sixers just couldnt make the clutch basket or two to finally take the lead. Theyd get as close again as two points in the third and trailed only 75-69 at the end of the quarter. "I think Bretts done a great job with them," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "Theyve got a lot of moving parts. I give a guy like Young a lot of credit for his professionalism -- how hard he plays. They shot the ball well. The Bulls played without Derrick Rose, the former MVP point guard who tore the meniscus in his right knee at Portland in November and was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Thibodeau said Rose could could be ready to return if he gets the call to play this summer for Team USA at the world championships. "I know hed like to do it," Thibodeau said. "I know how USA basketball feels about him. If hes cleared to do it, Id love to see him do it." NOTES: The Sixers are 3-32 since a four-game winning streak ended Jan. 4. ... Guelph has also racked up five CIS bronze medals over the years, including third-place finishes each of the past four seasons. Laval (1-1) will play for CIS bronze for the second time in program history Sunday at noon against Lethbridge (1-1). The Rouge et Or lost the third-place match to Guelph back in 2008. Eyles of Goderich, Ont., made it 19-3 six minutes before the halftime break when she took an offload pass from Murphy and scampered 12 metres, nearly untouched, for the converted score. Back from the break, Murphy added her second converted try of the afternoon five minutes in. Following a penalty, she took a quick tap and rumbled 18 metres for the score, breaking several tackles in the process. Another long run by Linthwaite of Guelph, Ont., extended the lead to 33-3 in the 44th minute. The fourth-year lock ran 22 metres accelerating past the Laval defence to hit pay dirt. Benn would add an unconverted try in the games final minute to round out the scoring. Guelph head coach Collette McAuley was excited about her teams performance and is looking forward to their next test. "The girls finally played to their potential," said McAuley. "They had fun on the field, supported the ball well and ran like they know how. We beat a tough team today and we hope to carry that into the gold medal final." Laval sideline boss Bill McNeil saw positive and negative aspects in his teams performance. "We contested what we could today and did that well. CHARLOTTE, N. Fernandinho Brazil Jersey .C. -- A small piece of metal in his eye, and not a sinus infection, caused Denny Hamlin to miss last weeks race at California. Hamlin was not medically cleared to race last Sunday by doctors in the infield care centre at Auto Club Speedway. He had visited the care centre on Saturday and Sunday complaining of an irritation to his eye, and it was determined at the track that it was related to a recent sinus infection Hamlin had suffered. Hamlin was referred to a local hospital for further evaluation, and once there, "a small piece of metal was found to be in Hamlins eye," Joe Gibbs Racing said in a statement Wednesday. The metal was removed and JGR said "Hamlin felt immediate improvement." By then, the race at Fontana had already started and replacement driver Sam Hornish Jr. was behind the wheel of Hamlins No. 11 Toyota. Hamlin underwent further testing in California before he was cleared to fly home to North Carolina. He was evaluated in Charlotte on Monday and again on Wednesday, when it was determined he had no lingering issues with his vision and is cleared to race this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. Hamlin has four career victories at Martinsville and an average finish of eighth. The timeline of Hamlins diagnosis and revelation it was a piece of metal in his eye and not a sinus infection comes a day after Dale Earnhardt Jr. called on NASCAR to release information regarding Hamlin not being cleared to race at California. Earnhardt, during an appearance Tuesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, questioned why there had been no official NASCAR statement or further explanation from Hamlin on what happened. He was particularly interested because it is so unusual for a driver to be parked shortly before a race is about to begin. "Im worried the perception is bad for NASCAR and the perception is bad for Denny," Earnhardt said. "If Denny didnt race because his vision is blurred and he had a sinus infection, NASCAR should put out a release and say, This is the timeline of the events and this is why we made this choice and this is the protocol for going forward. "That answers everybodys questions. Dont you have questions? I have questions. We shouldnt have questions. We should all feel pretty comfortable with what happened." Earnhardt missed two races in 2012 after he suffered his second concussion in six weeks. He drove for weeks following the first concussion, which occurred while testing at Kansas Speedway. He was cleared to drive following that crash, and the concussion was discovered after he wrecked again at Talladega. "If Denny did everything right, thats good to know," he said. "Why NASCAR did the things they did and the timeline, it would be good to know those things because the drivers are all curious and the fans are curious. Information is moving around. It just doesnt need to be going on. We should all know what happened and know why it happened and be done with it and not have to worry about it." Dani Alves Brazil Jersey . Penn has never been one to take a loss lightly. In recent years, the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion has appeared determined to avenge previous defeats. First he evened the score with Jens Pulver, dominating the inaugural UFC lightweight titleholder en route to a submission victory in 2007. Less than two years later he attempted a similar feat against Georges St-Pierre, but suffered a late TKO loss after his corner threw in the towel. In 2010 he then snagged the rubber match with Matt Hughes, dispatching the UFC Hall of Fame inductee with a rapid-fire knockout. Though Penn has always made a point of returning the favour against fighters who have bested him in the past, he said he isnt necessarily obsessed with vengeance. "I dont know about fixated, but I believe everyone out there would want to have another shot at somebody who beat them," Penn told reporters on a recent media call. "I just think thats part of life. I just think thats human nature — bottom line." Penn now has his sight locked on the man who took his UFC lightweight championship when he once again locks horns with Frankie Edgar in the headliner of The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale in Las Vegas Sunday. The bout will also mark the Hawaiians first at featherweight. Penn admitted that while batting around ideas for his return to the Octagon, he lobbied UFC president Dana White for another crack at Edgar. As a result, the two were paired up as opposing coaches on the most recent season of TUF. "I talked to Dana and said (I wanted to) get back in and avenge a couple of my losses," Penn said. "Frankies name came up and everything got put together. "This is the first time I asked to fight Frankie. When I first had to fight Frankie, I was like, Really, Frankie, who is this? Let me check it out. Then Frankie comes out and proves himself. Frankie now is one of the best of all time in the UFC. Its definitely a fight Im looking forward to." Penn and Edgar originally met in the co-main event of UFC 112 on April 10, 2010. A sizable underdog going into the bout, Edgar pulled off a stunning upset to win the 155-pound title via unanimous decision. He then dominated Penn in the rematch to earned the judges nod four months later. Edgar admitted his second victory over Penn remains one of the most memorable of his career. "I think they were both rewarding in their own right," Edgar said. "I guess the second time was a little more reassuring just because everyone thought the first time was a fluke and I was able to get it done the second time. Maybe that one stuck out a little more for me." Though hes next on Penns hit list, Edgar can relate to the Hilo native. During his run as UFC lightweight champion he delivered a stunning knockout against Gray Maynard, who had previously handed him a decision loss in 2008. Edgar said he understands Penns motivations. "Yeah, absolutely, Ive been there before," Edgar said. "Its just competitive nature. Id think all fighters would want a chance at redemption." Though Edgar already holds two victories over Penn, hes hardly in a lose-lose situation. On top of the bout being yet another high-profile encounter against one of mixed martial arts trrue legends, he could also become the only fighter to go 3-0 against Penn. Ronaldinho Brazil Jersey. However, Edgar admitted he was surprised when the opportunity came across his plate. "I was definitely not expecting B.J. to be the guy I was coaching against," Edgar said. "(Dana and I) were throwing around the idea of me coaching the show. I thought I was going to miss the opportunity just because we couldnt get someone. Then he threw out the name B.J. to me. Im pretty easy going and I just jumped at it." For Penn, not only does does a victory over Edgar allow him to earn a measure of retribution, it proves hes still relevant in the ever-evolving sport of MMA. Conversely, White recently stated a loss would result in a talk about retirement. Though there is a lot at stake for him, Penn said part of his decision to return is that he simply loves to compete. "This is what I do, this is what Ive done my whole life and this is all I know," Penn said. "It just comes down to having fun and doing what I love." ----- B.J. PENN TIMELINE UFC 31 (May 4, 2001): A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu standout, Penn makes his MMA debut, picking up a first-round TKO win over Joey Gilbert. UFC 35 (Jan. 11, 2002): Penn fails to capture the UFC lightweight title, losing a majority decision to Jens Pulver. UFC 41 (Feb. 28, 2003): Penn comes up short again in his bid for the 155-pound belt, going to a controversial split draw with Caol Uno. UFC 46 (Jan. 31, 2004): Penn shocks the MMA world by moving up to welterweight and dethroning champion Matt Hughes via first-round submission. He would later be stripped of the belt after signing with K-1. K-1: Heros 1 (March 26, 2005): Penn loses a hard-fought unanimous decision to future UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. The Hawaiian weighed in at 191 pounds, while Machida tipped the scales at 225 pounds. UFC 58 (March 4, 2006): Penn returns to the UFC, losing a close split decision to Georges St-Pierre. The San Antonio Spurs open their rematch with the Miami Heat on Thursday, and their star point guard is nursing a balky left ankle. "Hes getting better every day, and I expect him to play," coach Gregg Popovich said Tuesday. Parker aggravated the injury Saturday, missing the second half of San Antonios series-clinching victory over Oklahoma City in the Western Conference finals. Parker didnt practice Tuesday, but said he expects to be back Wednesday. Parker is averaging a team-leading 17.2 points and 4.9 assists this post-season but has been bothered by injuries the past two rounds. "I always try to be honest with Pop," Parker said. "He knows, but if Im 50 per cent Ill try to play. If Im under 50 per cent, we can argue." Parker conceded the ankle has bothered him since San Antonios second-round series against Portland, although he did not divulge it at the time. "I dont like to talk about when Im hurt," he said. "I played on it for the whole series against Portland. Thats why I think my hamstring got hurt because I was playing on a bad ankle." Parker had tightness in his left hamstring midway through the second quarter of Game 5 against the Trail Blazers, forcing him to miss the rest of the Spurs series-clinching victory. He did not miss any of the Western Conference finals because of his hamstring. Chris Conley Jersey. But he aggravated the ankle injury in Game 4 against Oklahoma City. "I twisted it again, but didnt say anything," Parker said. "Played on it, and then Game 6 I think my body is like, Thats enough. Its perfect timing to get five days and to get better and to be ready for Game 1." San Antonio was still able to clinch the series without Parker, holding off Oklahoma City for a 112-107 overtime victory to advance to its sixth finals appearance. Parker said he wanted to return for the second half, but was overruled by Popovich and the teams medical staff. "I wanted to play. I wanted to play," Parker said. "Pop was like, No, we never know for Game 7. So I understand where he was coming from, but it was hard to watch from the locker room. At the same time, I was very proud of my teammates. They stepped up big. It was huge for us because I think those five days (off) are big for us to prepare for the finals." Asked whether he would possibly hold Parker out if he was less than 50 per cent, Popovich smirked and alluded to the calf injury that was supposed to keep the Thunders Serge Ibaka out of the Western Conference finals -- but didnt. "Its too early -- hes either 50 per cent or out for the rest of the playoffs," Popovich said. "One of the two . I had to do it. Ill never do it again, I promise. Were done with that joke." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

NEW YORK -- Jason Giambi pointed toward the right-centre field stands from the dugout in the first inning to thank the Bleacher Creatures for giving a rare call to a visiting player. Wholesale Jerseys . An inning later he hit the ball right to them, although its doubtful they appreciated that gesture as much. Ubaldo Jimenez overcame early wildness to pitch seven impressive innings and Giambis long homer helped lead the Colorado Rockies to a 4-2 victory Friday night over New York in a rare trip to the Bronx. "I wasnt touching the ground," Giambi said. "Theres an incredible energy playing in this stadium with the fans that they have here, just being excited like old times to have that opportunity to play in front of them again. I think he couldve thrown the rosin bag 2-0 and I wouldve swung no matter what." Troy Tulowitzki homered again in New York City and Todd Helton hit an RBI single for Colorado. No. 9 batter Chris Iannetta walked three times and scored a run. The Rockies were swept by the Yankees in a three-game series in 2004, their only other trip to the Bronx. "We have developed an expectation level with this ballclub. We dont care where were playing or who were playing," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "We expect to come in and we expect to play good professional baseball." A.J. Burnett (7-6) became the first pitcher in Yankees history to strike out four batters in one inning when he followed up three ineffective innings with the major league record-tying performance in the sixth. The gangly right-hander struck out Iannetta and Carlos Gonzalez looking before Chris Nelson swung at a pitch in the dirt. The wild pitch bounced off catcher Russell Martin from Chelsea, Que., and went to the backstop, allowing Nelson to reach base. Helton struck out swinging to end the inning. Seattles Felix Hernandez was the last to strike out four in a game -- in the eighth inning on June 3, 2010, against Minnesota. Burnett got the first out in the seventh before manager Joe Girardi came to get him and Burnett clearly was displeased with the move. "Its never personal," Burnett said. "Im not mad that he took me out, Im just mad because I had to come out." Fun loving and gregarious, Giambi was one of Yankees fans favourite player in his seven years with the team from 2002-08 and he always appreciated the group of fans in the bleachers who chanted the starters names during "roll call" in the first inning of home games. This time, he answered their rare call for a visiting player with his first homer at the new Yankee Stadium, and his eighth this season. "Theyre the greatest. Thats the greatest thing in baseball I always loved those guys forever," Giambi said of the Bleacher Creatures. "For them to do that was such an honour." It was Giambis first visit to New York since he came with Oakland in 2009, the season after finishing his seven-year contract with the Yankees. He finished 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored before being lifted to a smattering of applause for a pinch runner in the ninth. "He looked good, looked like hes in great shape, " Alex Rodriguez said. "Happy to see him do good, just not against us." Tulowitzki wears No. 2 in part as a tribute to Derek Jeter and was hoping the Yankees shortstop would get his 3,000th hit while the Rockies were in town. But Jeter is on the disabled list with a calf strain and it is not certain that hell even be ready to be activated when he is eligible to come off the DL on June 29. The Big Apple has been good to Tulowitzki this year. He homered in four straight games against the Mets in April and has hit five of his 14 homers in New York. He connected off Burnett in the fifth. "I think it wouldve been a little different if he had been playing in the game," Tulowitzki said. Jimenez (3-7) walked Curtis Granderson twice in the first three innings and Rodriguez drove him in both times -- a double in the first and a sacrifice fly in the third. But after the third, Jimenez started relying more on his changeup, slider and curveball. "That was a big thing about tonight, I was able to throw my breaking ball for strikes," Jimenez said. Jimenez, whose last outing was cut short by a leg cramp, allowed two runs and four hits to lower his road earned-run average to 2.16 in six starts this season. Huston Street gave up a hit in the ninth and got two fly balls to die in the strong wind to finish for his 23rd save. Burnett walked five, all in the third and fourth innings, but he limited the Rockies to two runs on an RBI single by Helton and a run-scoring groundout to Ty Wigginton. Helton hit a one-out single with the bases loaded, but Tulowitzki ended the threat with a double-play grounder to Rodriguez. Wigginton grounded out to third for a 3-2 lead after Giambi walked and Seth Smith doubled to open the fourth. Notes: Yankees RHP Bartolo Colon (hamstring), threw 31 pitches in his first bullpen session. Josh Smith had 18 points and six rebounds, Harden added 17 points, eight assists and four steals and the Houston Rockets defeated the Dallas Mavericks 99-94 on Wednesday night. Harden was slow to get up after banging knees with Monta Ellis near the left elbow during the middle to late stages of the fourth quarter following a drive. Harden, though, gutted it out, but was seen grimacing near the Rockets bench after knocking down his foul shots. Donatas Motiejunas posted 16 points and five rebounds for Houston, which has won three straight games. Six Rockets reached double figures in scoring. When weve got so many guys contributing its kind of hard to beat us, Harden said. Center Dwight Howard missed his second straight game due to a sprained right ankle. Ellis finished with 33 points and five assists and Chandler Parsons netted 21 points for the Mavericks, who have dropped four consecutive contests. Dallas turned the ball over 23 times. We had chances, but that ultimately killed us, Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said of the turnovers. After Smmiths 3-pointer staked the Rockets to a 95-87 advantage with 2:56 remaining, a 7-2 Dallas spurt helped it get within three. Cheap NFL Jerseys. Parsons hit a triple and Ellis sunk two foul shots before Smith drove in for a layup. Dirk Nowitzkis layup capped the flurry and got the Mavs within 97-94 with 43.5 seconds left. Harden airballed a left wing jumper and then committed a flagrant foul on Tyson Chandler at the other end, but Chandler missed both free throws. Corey Brewer then tipped the ensuing inbounds pass off of Devin Harris and Harden put in a pair to seal the outcome. Earlier, the Mavs netted the first seven points as Ellis sandwiched a pair of baskets around a Nowitzki trey. Houston closed the frame on a 10-2 run to get within 25-24 following a quarter of play. Smith knocked down a late triple in the second and Houston held a 54-53 edge at the break. It was up 81-78 after three. A crowded house at the pivot position in the nations capital could see Kevin Glenn on the move. Jim McMahon Bears Throwback Jersey . Sources tell TSNs Farhan Lalji that the Ottawa Redblacks are listening to offers for the quarterback, with a reported initial asking price of a first round pick. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who have the second overall pick in Mays CFL draft, are reportedly among the teams interested in his services. But after trading away their last two first round picks in recent deals for Drew Willy and Korey Banks, its believed the Bombers would not be willing to part with another top pick in 2014. The Redblacks currently have three quarterbacks under contract that started CFL games last season. Ottawa acquired Glenn and Thomas Demarco through the expansion draft in December and then signed veteran quarterback Henry Burris to a three-year contract six days after being released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The club also has quarterback Matt Faulkner on its roster. Ottawa is currently scheduled to pay their top two quarterbacks somewhere in the neighbourhood of $600,000 this year, which is above the league average. With the 34-year-old Glenn having a very cap-friendly deal with the Redblacks and the club already paying his roster bonus, he could be attractive to clubs in need of a starting quarterback. It was widely believed that Glenn, who split time under centre with the Calgary Stampeders in 2013 and finished with 2,710 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions, would be Ottawas starter. But any question as to who would lead the team into training camp was answered when Ottawa general manager Marcel Desjardins introduced Burris as the "new starting quarterback for the Redblacks." Glenn, a Detroit native, has played 13 years in the league for the Stampeders, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Blue Bombers and Tiger-Cats. He was a CFL East All-Star in 2007, and is currently 10th on the leagues list of all-time leading passers with 36,666 yards. The team didnt release any details on the contract.WASHINGTON -- Joel Ward scored the go-ahead goal with just over 8 minutes left in the third period, and Alex Ovechkin added a goal and an assist as the Washington Capitals edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Friday night. Nicklas Backstrom also scored, and goalie Michal Neuvirth made 32 saves in his first game in seven weeks as the Capitals won on back-to-back nights for the fourth time this year. It was the fourth straight loss for Toronto after a 3-2 victory over Detroit on Jan. 1 in the Winter Classic, and the Maple Leafs have been outscored 21-7 in the defeats. James Van Riemsdyk and Phil Kessel each had a goal and an assist. Kessels team-high 21st goal gave Toronto a short-lived 2-1 lead in the third when his shot went off the stick of Washington defenceman Karl Alzner and over the shoulder of Neuvirth. The Caps got the equalizer in similar fashion with 15:24 left as Backstroms severe-angle shot went off the skate of Maple Leafs centre Jay McClement and past Jonathan Bernier for his 11th goal. Jim Palmer Orioles Throwback Jersey. Wards winner, his 13th of the season, came with 8:10 left, 6 seconds after Toronto had killed a penalty, as he fired a slap shot from 15 feet out on a pass from Marcus Johansson. After that, Neuvirth kept Washington in command, making his final save with 12 seconds left. The last time the 25-year-old was set to play for the Capitals, on Nov. 29, he suffered a leg injury in warmups. He had not suited up for a game since. With the Caps playing their second of five games in a span of seven days, Braden Holtby struggling and rookie Philipp Grubauer coming off a taxing 4-3 win Thursday night at Tampa Bay, Neuvirth made his first start since Nov. 22. In the absence of Neuvirth, Grubauer (6-2-3) emerged as perhaps the teams most reliable goalie, prompting Neuvirth to request a trade late last month. LOS ANGELES -- Zack Greinke is in midseason form. Nike Free Grise Et Rose . Cole Hamels is just starting his season. Greinke outpitched Hamels with seven strong innings, Hanley Ramirez homered and Yasiel Puig drove in two runs for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night. "It wasnt like everything was incredible, but I could use anything in or away at any time," Greinke said. "For the most part, throughout my whole career, Ive had at least two pitches. There have been very few games where I dont have two pitches working, and usually theres three." Greinke (4-0) allowed two runs and five hits while striking out 11 and walking one batter intentionally. Manager Don Mattingly tried to squeeze one more inning out of the right-hander, but lifted him after Jayson Nix drove Greinkes 108th pitch to left-centre for a leadoff homer. J.P. Howell got three outs in the eighth, and Kenley Jansen pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save after the Dodgers picked up a couple of insurance runs in the eighth on Ramirezs leadoff homer to centre and Justin Turners RBI single off Shawn Camp. Greinke is off to the second-best start of his 11-year career. He won his first six decisions in 2009 with Kansas City, when he finished 16-8 and established career bests with a 2.16 ERA and 242 strikeouts en route to the AL Cy Young Award. "Hes been a great pitcher. He took off in Kansas City when he won that Cy Young and hes been good ever since," Hamels said. "Hes a true competitor and hes pretty smart. He definitely knows how to pitch, and you know when you have to face a guy like him, you have to keep the other guy from scoring because hes going to do the same." It was Greinkes 18th double-digit strikeout game in the majors and his first in 33 starts with the Dodgers. This was the 17th consecutive start in which Greinke pitched at least five innings while allowing fewer than three runs. Hamels took the loss in his season debut, after missing the first three weeks because of biceps tendinitis. The 30-year-old left-hander made 86 pitches, allowing two runs and six hits over six innings with five strikes and a walk. He made 30 or more starts in each of the previous six seasons, so starting the season this late was an adjustment for him. "Thats in the past. I dont really think about last year or last week. I just keep going forward and try to get healthy," Hamels said. "I was worried about what I had to do -- build up my pitch going and get ready to start every five days. Thats what transpired for the past couple of weeks. Thats kind of all I could do. "I knew what I was going into. It was just a matter of preparing myself just like I normally have and getting ready in a spring training-type setting. It was just a couple of weeks later than everybody else." Puig struck out his first two times up, but lined an RBI single to right in the fifth to put the Dodgers ahead 2-1 after Hamels gave up a two-out single by Drew Butera and walked Greinke. "You can never walk the pitcher. I understand Greinke is a very good hitter, but at the same time, you have to let him hit his way on," Hamels said. "That right there was the ballgame. It decided everything in terms of what transpired in the next inning and it racked up my pitch count right there." Juan Uribes sacrifice fly gave Los Angeles 1-0 lead in the second, after Matt Kemp led off with the first of his two doubles. Ryan Howard tied it in the fourth with an RBI single after a leadoff double by Jimmy Rollins. "One of the keys, where Rollins hit that leadoff double, I didnt even try to keep him from scoring," Greinke said. "It would be really tough. As long as you just limit it to that one run, its not that big of a deal. Thats kind of the mindset. Its been working." Greinke had nine strikeouts through the first five innings, including five in a row after Howards hit. Greinke doubled with two outs in the seventh and scored on Puigs triple off the right field fence. NOTES: Two-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw will make a minor league rehab start on Friday with Class A Rancho Cucamonga as he works his way back from a muscle strain in his upper back. Raonic said he is noticing signs of improvement on court after struggling somewhat in his opening match, a 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 win over Australian qualifier Nick Kyrgios.COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Bradley Wright-Phillips continued his hot scoring with the second-half equalizer and the New York Red Bulls rallied to tie Columbus 1-1 on Saturday. He followed a three-goal game in a 4-0 win against Houston on Wednesday with his fifth goal of the season in the 66th minute. He settled a pass from Lloyd Sam on the left side of the box and put a shot through the legs of Crew defender Josh Williams and off the right post. "I ended up getting a good touch on it and getting a good strike on goal because I let two in the first half get away so I wanted to get one on target," Wright-Phillips said. He understands that a goal streak like hes on doesnt come around often. "Two weeks ago that probably would have got blocked and gone the other way on the attack," he said. "Thats how football goes, especially for strikers. The Crew is winless in four (0-1-3) including three straight draws, after opening the season with three consecutive victories under first-year coach Gregg Berhalter. The Hawks announced late Sunday that Koonin would take an ownership stake, serve as chief executive officer, oversee all business operations and represent the ownership at league functions. Koonin comes to the Hawks after 14 years with Turner Entertainment Networks, where in his most recent role he led the division that included TNT, TBS, TruTV and Turner Classic Movies. He previously spent more than a decade as a marketing executive at Coca-Cola. "Steve Koonins reputation as a game changer in both marketing and media makes him the ideal leader to usher the Atlanta Hawks into a new era," said Bruce Levenson, the teams majority owner. "He has created a legacy as an expert in sports marketing, television, branding and digital media." The Hawks clinched their seventh straight playoff appearance this past weekend but perennially rank among the worst teams in attendance. The team is hoping Koonin can change that after his stint at Turner, where he was involved in programming and media rights acquisition with both the NBA and the NCAA. At Coca-Cola, he served as vice-president of sports and entertainment marketing. Koonin is a lifelong resident of Atlanta, headquarters of Turner and Coca-Cola. "My family has been a parrt of this city for nearly a century," Koonin said in a statement. Toni Kroos Jersey. . "We have a lot of work to do, but I believe my professional experience, my passion for this team and the NBA, as well as the Hawks great existing executive talent ... make this organizations future very bright." Under general manager Danny Ferry and first-year coach Mike Budenholzer, the Hawks are in the midst of a major rebuilding effort. Only two players, centre Al Horford and point guard Jeff Teague, have been with the team longer than two years -- and Horford missed most of this season with an injury. Koonins focus will be off the court. Heading into its final home game Monday night, the Hawks were averaging crowds of 14,400 a game -- 28th out of 30 NBA teams. The actual turnouts are generally much lower, with thousands of empty seats a trademark of games at Philips Arena, where capacity was actually reduced by curtaining a section of seats at the top of the upper deck. Over the past decade, the team has never ranked higher than 18th in attendance and is largely overlooked in a market that also has the NFL, Major League Baseball and a passion for college football. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Cheap Oakland Raiders Jerseys . -- Jacksonvilles offensive makeover is just getting starting. The Jaguars signed former Minnesota Vikings running back Toby Gerhart and former Denver Broncos guard Zane Beadles to contracts Wednesday, bringing the free agents in to replace longtime starters Maurice Jones-Drew and Uche Nwaneri. And former Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Emmanuel Sanders visited the facility Wednesday. Signing Sanders would give Jacksonville a potential replacement for wideout Justin Blackmon, who is suspended for repeated violations of the NFLs substance-abuse policy. "They know the pieces they want to put together," Beadles said. "They want to build this thing for the long haul and plug in some guys in certain areas that can really help bring this team along. Hopefully I can be one of those guys for this organization." The moves might not be the one Jacksonville really needs -- finding a franchise quarterback -- but they could help improve one of the leagues worst offences in recent years. The Jaguars ranked 31st in total offence last season, 29th in 2012 and 32nd in 2011. General manager Dave Caldwell and coach Gus Bradley did little to tweak the offence in their first season, outside of drafting left tackle Luke Joeckel with the second overall pick. But its clear theyre focused on revamping the offence this year. They let Jones-Drew walk, cut Nwaneri and traded quarterback Blaine Gabbert, the 10th overall pick in the 2011 draft, to San Francisco in exchange for a sixth-round selection. Throw in longtime centre Brad Meesters retirement, and the Jaguars had plenty of holes. The already filled two in free agency. Gerhart signed a three-year deal worth $10.5 million that includes $4.5 million guaranteed. Beadles signed a five-year, $30 million contract that includes $12.5 million guaranteed. The team also re-signed quarterback Chad Henne and cornerback Will Blackmon, and signed free-agent defensive end Red Bryant and free-agent linebacker Dekoda Watson. The Jaguars arent done, either. Sanders and former Pittsburgh Steelers teammate Ziggy Hood could be next. Hood also visited Jacksonville on Wednesday. Clearly, the Jaguars are intent on spending some of the roughly $60 million of salary-cap space they opened free agency with. And the wisest investments could come on offence. Gerhart, a second-round pick by Minnesota in 2010, played in 61 games with six starts for the Vikings over four seasons. He has a modest 276 carries for 1,305 yards (4.7 yards a carry) and five touchdowns. He also had 77 receptions for 600 yards and three scores. His arrival likely shuts the door on Jones-Drew returning to Jacksonville. Bradley essentially named Gerhart the starter Wednesday, saying he would like to get him about 15 carriers a game. Gerhart welcomed the workload, especially after sitting behind All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson his entire career. "I dont have that mileage on me," Gerhart said. "Im a semi-proven veteran without the mileage on me." And Gerhart will have a revamped line to run behind, with Joeckel returning from a broken right ankle and the addition of Beadles. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Beadles was a second-round pick in 2010 who gave up just 2 1/2 sacks the last two years. His 62 starts are the second-most among offensive linemen who entered the NFL that season, just two behind San Franciscos Anthony Davis. Beadles missed just three snaps last season -- all at the end of a game -- and played every down in 2011 and 2012. "I take a huge amount of pride in my durability," he said. "Its something I hang my hat on. I try to take care of my body and eat healthy. I always want to be on the field." And maybe helping get Jacksonvilles offence turned around. "I heard great things about the direction of the organization," Beadles said. "In Denver, I went from a 4-12 team my rookie year to playing in the Super Bowl my fourth year. I want to be a part of that, helping bring this team along and hopefully we can get to that point eventually." Blackhawks Jerseys China . In one emphatic finish, NaVorro Bowman, Colin Kaepernick and the Niners sealed their post-season berth in a ceremonious regular-season farewell for Candlestick Park. Bowman returned an interception 89 yards for a touchdown with 1:10 remaining, and the 49ers clinched a playoff spot with a wild 34-24 victory against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night in the likely final game at The Stick. The Toronto Raptors have dropped a season-high four straight games and no loss was more disappointing than the opener of a three-game western trek earlier this week. The Raptors will try to put their recent setback out of memory when they visit the Phoenix Suns Friday night at US Airways Center. Watch the game on TSN2 at 9pm et/6pm pt. Toronto suffered a 112-103 loss at Golden State on Tuesday. The final score indicates the Raptors probably trailed through most of the game. That would be incorrect because the Raptors blew a 27-point advantage (75-4 and relinquished an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter. Golden State scored 42 of the 57 points in the last 12 minutes and recorded its first comeback of more than 18 points in the fourth quarter since the Philadelphia Warriors rallied from 19 points down at Boston on February 9, 1962. Toronto was led by DeMar DeRozans 26 points and Kyle Lowry added 20 points and nine assists. Rudy Gay and Amir Johnson netted 18 and 16 points, respectively, for the Raptors, who shot 51.9 percent for the game and fell to 0-7 when allowing 100- plus points this season. Gay and Lowry are averaging 17.6 ppg in the last five contests. DeRozan has scored 17 or more points in a career-high 11 straight games and is averaging 24.5 points per game in that stretch. He needs 18 points to become the sixth player in franchise history with 5,000 career points and would join Chris Bosh (10,275), Vince Carter (9,420), Andrea Bargnani (6,581), Morris Peterson (6,49 and Jose Calderon (5,235). The Raptors, who have lost six of eight games overall, are 3-5 aaway from Canada and will visit the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday at Staples Center. Warriors Jerseys China. That day could mark the possible return of future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant. Bryant has been recovering from Achilles surgery. Phoenix ended a two-game slide its last time out and won for the fifth time in eight tries with Wednesdays 97-88 win at Houston. Eric Bledsoe had 20 points and seven assists, Goran Dragic added 19 points and P.J. Tucker scored 18 for the Suns, who shot 45.6 percent and scored 25 points off 23 Houston turnovers. The Suns, playing their second game in as many nights, almost squandered their lead in the fourth quarter, when the Rockets posted a 27-24 advantage. "They cut it down, and we could have gotten panicked where we forced shots, but we didnt," Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek said. The Suns held the Rockets to a season-low 35.2 percent shooting from the field and kept the NBAs top-ranked scoring unit (108.1) to over 20 points below its season average. Dragic has scored at least 14 points and handed out eight assists in six of the last eight games, averaging 20.0 points and 8.0 assists in that time. Bledsoe returned to the starting lineup on Tuesday after missing six games with a left shin contusion. He leads the Suns with 18.8 ppg. Phoenix is 5-3 at home this season and lost both meetings with Toronto in 2012-13. The Raptors have won three in a row over the Suns after losing the previous 14 encounters between the teams, but Phoenix still holds a 15-5 advantage in the past 20 games in this series. MELBOURNE, Australia - Australia veteran Mark Bresciano has warned his teammates to expect their Asian Cup rivals to use stifling defensive tactics to counter the positive, attacking style the Socceroos attempted at last years World Cup. Nike Air Max NÅ‘i .Australia predictably lost all three matches at the World Cup against tough group opponents Spain, Chile and the Netherlands, but used an expansive approach that won some plaudits. This time around were going to be coming up against other countries that play in a different style and are going to try and stop us playing that attacking football ourselves, Bresciano said Wednesday. We just have to go, from the first minute, 100 miles an hour and try and also wear them down physically. The Socceroos, who open the Asian Cup on Friday against Kuwait in Melbourne, held a tactical training session on Wednesday, closing the stadium to media and fans after the warm-up.The host may be expected to comfortably defeat Kuwait, but are up against something of an unknown quantity, as the Gulf team fired its coach a month ago and have played only one game since under Tunisian-born manager Nabil Maaloul. The Socceroos were hoping to scout Kuwait in its friendly against the United Arab Emirates on the Gold Coast last Saturday but the match was cancelled at the last minute due to dispute between the two national federations over whether the match could be videotaped.Qatar-based Bresciano has played against sides coached by Maaloul and rates him as a shrewd leader. He has been a successful coach. PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas -- Ryan Arcidiacono had not made a shot all night. Cheap Jerseys . So naturally, he was Jay Wrights choice on the play that wound up deciding Villanovas fate. And it was the right choice. Arcidiaconos 3-pointer with 10.1 seconds left put Villanova on top for good, and the Wildcats upset No. 2 Kansas 63-59 in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Friday night. "We had a choice who we were going to run that for," said Wright, the Villanova coach whos now 4-1 in last five games against teams ranked in the top five. "And we picked Ryan. I dont think theres a guy on our team who would doubt that. ... Everybody just knows he lives for that. When we practice end of the game situations in practice, he always makes the shot." Sure enough, he delivered. Arcidiacono had missed all five of his previous shots, but made the one that counted -- the only field goal for the Wildcats in the final 7 minutes. "I thought I was wide open, so I just pulled the trigger," Arcidiacono said. Arcidiacono got it off in plenty of time, even as Kansas Perry Ellis -- listed as 5 inches taller -- charged his way. "Almost," Ellis said. Darrun Hilliard and Dylan Ennis each scored 14 for Villanova (6-0), which meets Iowa in Saturday nights championship game. JayVaughn Pinkston scored 13 and James Bell added 10 for the Wildcats. Frank Mason scored 12 for Kansas (5-1). His three-point play with 34.2 seconds left gave Kansas its first lead in more than 25 minutes, but the Jayhawks couldnt hold on in the final moments. "It was not a pretty game," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "Certainly, I hate that it came down to one possession like that." Ellis scored 11, while Canadian Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid added 10 each for Kansas, which plays Texas-El Paso in the third-place game Saturday. Villanova led 57-46 with just over seven minutes left, then got outscored 13-1 to lose the lead -- and then found a way at the end to cap a wild night where one team would go on a run, then the other would follow. It held true to the end, with the Wildcats having the last run. Pinkstons layup made it 36-26 early in the second half, before Kansas ran off eight unanswered points in a flash -- four of them by Ellis -- to get within two. Villanova was undeterred. The Wildcats answered with a 12-2 run, capped by Ennis 3-pointer with 12:44 remaining to give Villanova what was its biggest lead, 48-36. The margin was still 11 with 7:19 left, but the Jayhawks just kept coming. And after Villanova went more than 4 minutes without scoring, Kansas was back within 57-54 with plenty of time left. Masons layin off a lob cut Villanovas lead to one, and the converted ballroom serving as an arena this weekend was simply rocking. Kansas fans had filled the building, and they werent quiet. That is, until Arcidiacono rendered them silent and gave Villanova a huge early win. "He seemed like a tough kid to me," Self said. "Usually, in a game like this, the tough guy is the one making plays. It didnt surprise me at all that hes the one who took the shot." For the first 6 1/2 minutes, Villanova made nothing. Literally, outside of a couple free throws, nothing. It was 11-2 Kansas out of the gate, and Villanova was looking wholly overmatched in the early going. The Wildcats missed their first seven shots, not getting anything from the field to drop until Hilliard -- who had scored 12 by intermission, seven more than anyone from Kansas to that point -- hit a 3-pointer with 13:14 remaining. Just like that, everything changed. Villanova scored 27 of the next 35 points over a stunning 12 1/2-minute stretch, turning that 11-2 deficit into a 29-19 lead, the last point coming when Arcidiacono made one of two free throws awarded after Self was protesting a bit too much with one of the referees during a time-out. The shot by Arcidiacono capped a 12-0 burst by the Wildcats. It was his only point until the 3-pointer in the final moments. Kansas went into the locker room down only 29-22. It could have been so much worse -- after holding Villanova without a field goal for nearly seven minutes to start the game, the Jayhawks went the last eight minutes of the half without one of their own, going 0 for 7 from the floor with five turnovers during that dismal stretch. Combined, the teams were 14 for 53 in the opening 20 minutes. Villanova shot 29 per cent, Kansas 24 per cent, but the Wildcats held a 28-15 rebounding edge in the half. "Were a long ways to go," Self said. "I love our talent, I love our players and all that stuff. But the thing is, theres a difference between trying hard and actually competing. And we have to learn how to compete. And its not going to happen overnight." Wholesale Jerseys free shipping . TORONTO - According to Masai Ujiris wish list, the Toronto Raptors draft picks will be tough, eager to play defence, able to blend in well with coach Dwane Caseys playing style, and one of them will be a shot blocker. Wholesale Jerseys . The Raptors general manager has his list of possible draft selections whittled down to a handful ahead of Thursday nights NBA draft in Brooklyn, New York. The Raptors, who have auditioned dozens of players over the past couple of weeks, have the 20th overall pick in the first round, as well as the 37th and 58th picks in the second. "I think probably by (Tuesday), it will be narrowed down to probably five guys (for the No. 20 spot), and that doesnt include guys that could fall," Ujiri said. "And about 600 at 37," he added laughing. Ujiri said part of his pre-draft research is figuring out players who are capable of giving Casey what he wants. "Were an aggressive team, were going to play tough, play hard on the defensive end and stop people, and we are going to play up-tempo on the offensive end," Ujiri said. "We have to bring in those kinds of players, we cant just draft anybody to come here and throw to Dwane Casey, that wouldnt be fair." He and his staff will go for the best player on the board rather than draft specifically for position, although he said hed be happy if a shot blocker happened to be available at one of their three picks. Ujiri, who was still with the Denver Nuggets during last years draft, hasnt entirely ruled out moving up to a higher pick. "(But) I dont do heartbreaks very well," he said. "Those trades and talks, people dont understand, we talk about a hundred trades and maybe two happen. Thats just the nature of our business. "Well be aggressive, but our energy is focused on 20 rather than wasting our time on whats not. If theres anything, I always feel like those kinds of things almost come to you rather than you chase them. If we smell anything anywhere, well be aggressive, but 20 is what were counting on." Toronto didnt have a pick in last years draft. They selected Terrence Ross with their No. 8 pick in 2012. They selected Kareem Rush at No. 20 in 2002 and traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers. The previous year, they took Morris Peterson at No. 21. Ujiri said its been a gruelling few weeks of pouring over the specifics of this years draft class. "We do a lot of mechanics, pictures, analytics, background checks, psych tests and all that stuff. When they come for workouts, there are so many things you look at, foot speed, how tall they are, their demeanours, so many things," he said. "Its a huge process for us and just builds and builds and builds. "Now hopefully by Wednesday morning we will have gathered all the information we have. And then mess it up with a trade or something," he added, laughing. The difficult part is judging a players potential — "we have to figure out where the player is now and what he will be in a couple of years from now or four years from now." Point guard Kyle Lowry led the Raptors to their first post-season appearance in six seasons, where they were eliminated by the Brooklyn Nets in the first round. Lowry becomes a free agent on July 1, but Ujiri said his status wont be a factor in how the Raptors select in the draft. "We are going full force after Kyle Lowry, and if theres a talented point guard in the draft. . . well go for talent in the draft. But Kyle Lowry is our target," he said. Several Canadians have been among the players whove worked out for the Raptors at the Air Canada Centre, including point guard Tyler Ennis, forwards Melvin Ejim and Khem Birch and seven-foot-two centre Jordan Bachynski. There could be as many as five to eight Canadians taken in the draft, led by Andrew Wiggins, the Vaughan, Ont., star whos expected to go No. 1 or 2. Ujiri pointed out that plenty can happen between now and Thursday night. Three days before the NBA draft, there have already been a couple of surprises. Highly-touted prospect Joel Embiid had surgery last week on the stress fracture on his foot. Draft prospect Isaiah Austin has been diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, a career-ending condition. "I walked into (the office) today and was like Please, no news thats going to throw me off right now. Because it will keep coming, there will be something tonight, tomorrow morning, there will be something, thats just the nature of the draft," Ujiri said. "You love it, thats why we do it, theres always action." Cheap Jerseys . Danks (1- lost his first eight decisions in the worst opening to a season by a White Sox starter since 1942. The Panthers have lost five straight and eight of nine. All of the scoring took place in about 4 1/2 minutes of the second period. Calgary took just six shots in the period but scored twice. The Flames took a 1-0 lead on Agostinos wrist shot from the left circle that got past Luongo at 1:34. It was Agostinos first NHL goal, and came in his fifth game. Trocheck was there for the rebound and beat MacDonald on the stick side at 2:21 for his 4th goal since being recalled from AHL San Antonio on March 5th. There was a lot of stuff that happened in between but I have nothing but good things to say about the fans that were really supportive especially towards the end. This organization brought my game to another level. Its all positive stuff." "I dont know if were done yet or not," Gillis said. "Were trying to get younger, get more depth and more balance." Matthias has nine goals and 16 points in 59 games for the Panthers this season. MIAMI -- David Beckhams architects and advisers have recommended the Port of Miami as the stadium site for the Major League Soccer expansion team that will be owned by the former English national team captain. Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit Noir . The plan announced Monday would have an open-air stadium with views of the bay and the downtown skyline. The capacity could be as low as 21,000 or as high as 35,000. The operating premise is about 25,000. "Miami is all about the water, all about the culture," said Beckham, speaking from a rooftop terrace on the Wolfson Campus of Miami Dade College, located just a few blocks from the Port of Miami. "I dont think people see that enough. "Our site is all about the skyline. It opens up to that. And thats what we want people to see that all around the world." More than 30 sites were evaluated for the stadium. In addition to the recommended site, Marlins Park, Florida International University and a site near the citys airport remain under consideration for the team. There is no year set for the team to start play. John Alschuler, chairman of the consulting firm HR&A, said the earliest the new stadium could be ready was 2018. If the team starts play earlier, it would have to play in a temporary home, such as Marlins Park or FIU. Alschuler said a stadium at the Port of Miami would be built without the use of taxpayer money and that fans could drive there by using the Port of Miami tunnel and seeking limited parking spaces. However, Beckham said he was headed to Tallahassee on Tuesday to lobby the state legislature for money. "We will be funding the money ourselves, but as an organization, we want to be treated like every other (sports franchise)," Beckham said. "Were not asking for anything more or anything less." Beckham was asked if he could make it work without state funding. "I dont think it would be fair to say we could or couldnt," he said. "We just want to be treated like every other franchise. Its not an ideal world, but this is what we would like to have happen." Beckhams group envisions perhaps as many as 4,000 fans per game making a "seven- or eight- minute walk" across the bridge from where the Miami Heat plays its NBA home games at AmericanAirlines Arena. "The March to the Match is a soccer tradition common in Europe and in certain parts of the United States," Alschuler said. "They hang out in bars and march to the match." To ease traffic and parking concerns, the proposed MLS team has said it would not schedule home games on the same nights the Heat plays. Beckham said he has never played in a stadium that doesnt have traffic issues and views that as a good problem because it would mean, in his view, that the team is playing to a "full house." Alschuler said Beckhams group would pay "fair market" value for the land at the proposed site and would make a $200 million investment in creating jobs and economic activity downtown. "We want a site that can feed off of the incredible energy that is developing downtown. We believe we can contribute to that," Alschuler said. "We want to be the most significant asset we can be to the economy of South Florida create jobs, create tax revenue and contribute to the economic balance sheet of the Port of Miami."
