Bryan Colangelo has admitted to tanking. Adidas NMD 2018 Outlet . The former Toronto Raptors general manager spoke to the MIT Sports Analytics Conference in Toronto on Friday where he said that he intended for the Raptors to finish as close to the Eastern Conference basement as possible in the lockout shortened 2011-12 season in hope of winning the NBA Draft lottery. "Admittedly, I will say, I tried to tank a couple years ago," said Colangelo to the conference. "And I didnt come out and say, Coach (Dwane Casey), youve got to lose games. I never said that. I wanted to have him establish a winning tradition and a culture and all of that, but I wanted to do it in the framework of playing and developing young players, and with that comes losing. Theres just no way to avoid that, but I never once said, Youve got to lose this game." The Raptors finished the 2011-12 season 23-43, good for 11th in the Eastern Conference, 12 games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the final playoff spot in the East, and the eighth-worst record in the NBA. The team neither rose, nor fell in the lottery, receiving the eighth-overall pick in the 2012 draft where they selected Terrence Ross out of the University of Washington. The 2007 NBA Executive of the Year (with the Phoenix Suns) was speaking on a proposal currently in front of the NBA Board of Governors which would see the draft lottery and any incentive to bottom out eliminated. Colangelo was relieved of his general manager position last May in favour of Masai Ujiri and eventually resigned his post as Raptors president the following month. It was considered unlikely that Rielly would be loaned to Canada for the tournament, which begins Dec. 26 in Malmo, Sweden, though a stretch of three straight games in the press box made it something of a debate.SOCHI, Russia -- No Dutch sweep this time. Martina Sablikova saw to that. Sablikova defended her Olympic speedskating title in the womens 5,000 metres Wednesday, knocking the Netherlands off the top step of the medal podium. The 26-year-old from the Czech Republic set a track record at Adler Arena with a time of six minutes 51.54 seconds. Its not like the Dutch didnt show up. They added two more medals to their record haul, as Ireen Wust took the silver in 6:54.28, while 35-year-old mother Carien Kleibeuker grabbed the bronze in 6:55.66. It was Wusts fourth medal of the Sochi Games, added to a gold in the 3,000 and silvers in the 1,000 and 1,500. Ivanie Blondin of Ottawa was the lone Canadian in the field, finishing 14th in 7:20.10, 28.56 seconds behind Sablikova. Racing against Sablikova in the seventh of eight pairs, Wust knew she had to push the pace early and hope to hang on. She built a sizeable lead but began to fade just past the midway point. Sablikova went right on by -- and never slowed up. The standings were a reversal of the 3,000, when Wust beat Sablikova to deny the Czech skater a shot at repeating as a double gold medallist in the two longest womens events. But Sablikova was determined to hang on to her title in the 5,000, even dropping the 1,500 -- an event she won bronze in four years ago -- to focus her preparation fully on the final individual speedskating race of these games. The strategy paid off with another gold. The Duutch speedskaters have now won 21 medals overall, more than every country in Sochi except Russia and the United States. Cheap Adidas NMD 2018 Grey. The Netherlands will be big favourites in both team pursuit races, the only events left at Adler Arena, giving Wust a shot at a fifth medal in Sochi. Forty-one-year-old Claudia Pechstein of Germany was denied again in her quest for a 10th career medal. She finished fifth, missing the podium by less than 3 seconds. Kleibeuker was the oldest female speedskater to represent the Netherlands at the Winter Games. After the flower ceremony, she scooped up her 5-year-old daughter for a victory lap around the infield. Kleibeuker was 10th in the 5,000 at the 2006 Turin Games, where she witnessed a bribery attempt by two members of the Dutch speedskating team. This time, the Olympics were all about her results on the ice. Pechstein won the 5,000 three straight times starting with the 1994 Lillehammer Games, and also had a silver and a bronze in the grueling event. She was determined to win another medal in Sochi after being banned from the Vancouver Games over a doping case which was based on abnormal blood levels rather than a positive test. She steadfastly denied any wrongdoing, kept on skating and qualified for her sixth Olympics at an age when most skaters have long since retired. But Pechstein couldnt make the podium in Sochi, finishing fourth in the 3,000, one spot worse in the 5,000, and 19th in the 1,500. FIVE QUICK HOOPS THOUGHTS 1. Air Max 90 Discount 2018 . SPURS WIN TITLE: The model NBA franchise. Bottom line, Im hopeful that everyone saw how beautiful the game is when its played with the team concept in mind and thats the right way to play. In a society where if very "Copycat" aligned, this could be a really good development for the game as a whole on all levels. Every coach out there has the blueprint that we all witnessed for the sacrifice and selfless play that is the core principle of the sport. Now its on every coach to demand that the game be played (and important for folks in authority to back this concept and their leaders) in the proper fashion with We/Us always coming first before I/Me and a guys nonsensical "brand". Youre a player, not a "brand". Its a TEAM game - always will be. Fingers crossed that young players across the globe and particularly here in North America (where some have a warped view of what the sport is) see this as a cool way of playing the game and that the "pass" is a great way of "expressing yourself". 2. LEBRON JAMES (Heat): Im tired of the knuckleheads that bash him vs. Michael Jordan. Hes a totally different player in a different era. The guy plays hard, is a great teammate and is the only reason the Heat even were able to compete in short stretches. I saw no Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant, Toni Kucoc, John Paxson or Steve Kerr out there for Miami in this series. The guy was fighting many times on his own. Hed be a guy that I would be honoured to coach and Id say more than 99 per cent of players - current and retired - would love to have him as a teammate. Is he as good as Jordan? No. So what? Its not like he isnt laying it on the line each night. Hes still terrific and not the problem. Im far from an apologist. He has made his fair share of mistakes but at the core, he carries himself properly and values the team concept. I would take him any day of the week on my team. 3. CARMELO ANTHONY (Knicks): I said this after Game 4 and Ill say it again, I think the Melo to Miami rumours were a distraction to the Heat - particularly to guys like Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. By the way, the two of them played poorly to say the least (24 points combined on 26 shots in Game 5). Not sure where he ends up but hes a wonderfully talented player who is an amazing scorer who Im not totally sold understands the 10-man (5-on-5) game and the value of team play. He needs a very strong coach and point guard to get him to see the light. In my opinion, Jason Kidd really helped him last season in his final year as a player, allowing him to understand the right way to play. With him though, its a daily fight to continue to get him to shake off bad habits and buy in to the value of the team game. He knows right from wrong - hes a big boy with tons of talent and money. Accountability is key with him. You keep him on the right path and he can really help you but you have to battle him every day. Ask George Karl - thats tiring. It can be done though. You need great energy and persistence to get him to do it each day. Teams need to decide if they want to fight that fight. 4. SHANE BATTIER and RAY ALLEN (Heat): Battier has already announced his retirement (guys actually retire? Not too often these days - normally guys hang on for anther deal as long as possible) and Allen might choose the same path. Both of them are FIRST CLASS, top-notch professionals who got everything out of their games. They had work ethics off the charts and are coachable. Wonderful examples of the best the game has to offer. Have always admired their approach. When you think of all the lucky guys who had a chance to play with these guys over the years, it has made the game better. Their influence and maturity were impactful, as was their play. 5. DAVID BLATT (Coach): Has had great success overseas and in international competition. Happy to see his name mentioned for the Cavaliers head coaching job as well as the top assistant job with the Warriors. Long overdue. Hes a top-notch offensive coach and gets a ton out of the talent level at his disposal. Very adaptable and creative. Would be a nice addition to the NBA coaching fraternity in some role. So heres what I do when I want to get into the baseball mood—I delve into "The Baseball Project".PHOENIX -- Former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper has been indicted in Arizona on charges of sexual assault and administering dangerous drugs, authorities said Wednesday, marking the latest development in investigations in five states involving the Super Bowl champion. A Maricopa County grand jury indicted Sharper in sexual assaults allegedly committed on Nov. 21 in Tempe. The four-page indictment dated Tuesday accuses the 38-year-old Sharper of two counts of sexual assault and three counts of administering dangerous drugs. Sharper knowingly administered the sedative zolpidem to three different victims and then had "sexual intercourse or oral sexual contact" with two of them without their consent, the document states. Sharper is currently in custody in Los Angeles, where he has pleaded not guilty to seven rape and drug counts in connection with two alleged attacks in Hollywood. He had been freed on $1 million bail before turning himself in when an arrest warrant was issued in New Orleans. In Arizona, police reports released earlier say two women in their early 20s had claimed Sharper drugged and sexually assaulted them at a Tempe apartment after a group including Sharper went drinking at bars in nearby Scottsdale. One of the women told police she hadnt had any alcohol that night until Sharper insisted she drink a shot. Another young woman said she had been drugged then went to bed, locked her door and wasnt attacked. The next day, one of the women confronted Sharper, who denied wrongdoing, according to the reports. The reports said Sharper was in Arizona to visit a woman who lived at the apartment. The two had met about a year earlier in Las Vegas. Skip Donau, a Tucson attorney who represents Sharper in the Arizona case, declined to discuss specifics. Under Armour Womens Shoes Sale. "We know that Darren will vigorously deny the allegations," Donau said. "We are hopeful of vindication." In Los Angeles, Superior Court Judge Renee Korn said last week that it was unfair to hold Sharper in jail there "into perpetuity" and gave prosecutors in Louisiana until Thursday to charge him or otherwise seek his return. Prosecutors in New Orleans said Wednesday that Sharper would not be indicted by that deadline and the investigation remained open. It could not be immediately determined if Arizona authorities would ask that Sharper be held longer in Los Angeles or would seek his extradition. Jerry Cobb, a spokesman for the Maricopa County Attorneys Office, declined to comment. Sharper is also under investigation in Florida and Nevada. In a bail motion filed last month, Los Angeles County Investigator John Maccharella described a pattern in which the former football star met women at clubs or parties and lured them to a hotel room, where they were allegedly drugged and raped. The New Orleans warrant says police learned from witnesses that Sharper and an associate had acknowledged having nonconsensual sex with two women. Sharpers attorneys say he never made such statements. The warrant does not elaborate on how the information was obtained or disclose the names of the witnesses. Sharper was selected All-Pro six times and chosen for the Pro Bowl five times. He played in two Super Bowls, one with the Green Bay Packers as a rookie and was part of a successful championship run while with the New Orleans Saints. He retired after the 2010 season and was working as an analyst for the NFL Network before being fired recently. Also new to the ballot for 2015 are sluggers Gary Sheffield and Carlos Delgado and shortstop Nomar Garciaparra. Rounding out the 17 first-time candidates are infielders Rich Aurilia, Aaron Boone and Tony Clark, outfielders Jermaine Dye, Darin Erstad, Cliff Floyd and Brian Giles, and pitchers Troy Percival, Tom Gordon, Eddie Guardado and Jason Schmidt. The 17 candidates returning to the BBWAA ballot (with their 2014 election percentages) are: Craig Biggio (74.8%), Mike Piazza (62.2%), Jeff Bagwell (54.3%), Tim Raines (46.1%), Roger Clemens (35.4%), Barry Bonds (34.7%), Lee Smith (29.9%), Curt Schilling (29.2%), Edgar Martinez (25.2%), Alan Trammell (20.8%), Mike Mussina (20.3%), Jeff Kent (15.2%), Fred McGriff (11.7%), Mark McGwire (11.0%), Larry Walker (10.2%), Don Mattingly (8.2%) and Sammy Sosa (7.2%). Mattingly is eligible for the ballot for the 15th and final time. If he is not elected in January, he will become eligible for consideration by the Expansion Era Committee beginning in the fall of 2016. Candidates need 75 percent of the vote to earn induction into the Hall of Fame. Results will be announced on Jan. 6, 2015. When including the returners to the ballot, its interesting to note that only once in the history of voting have as many as five candidates earned the 75 percent in the same voting year. That was in 1936, the first year of voting, when Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Babe Ruth and Honus Wagner became the First Five. Since then, the BBWAA has elected four candidates in one year only twice: 1947, when Mickey Cochrane, Frankie Frisch, Lefty Grove and Carl Hubbell were elected; and 1955, when Joe DiMaggio, Gabby Hartnett, Ted Lyons and Dazzy Vance earned election. The three candidates who at first glance deserve first-ballot Hall of Fame consideration are Johnson, Martinez and Smoltz. Johnson pitched 22 seasons for Expos, Mariners, Astros, Diamondbacks, Yankees and Giants, posting three 20-win seasons (1997, 2001-02) and winning five Cy Young Awards. The hard-throwing left-hander ended his career with a 303-166 markk with a 3. Air Max 1 Atmos. 29 ERA, finishing in top 10 of his leagues Most Valuable Player Award voting twice: 1995 (6th) and 2002 (7th) and was named to 10 All-Star Games, starting four times. Known as a strikeout pitcher, Johnson led his league in strikeouts nine times (1992-95, 1999-2002, 2004) and is second on the all-time strikeout list with 4,875. Martinez played 18 seasons for Dodgers, Expos, Red Sox, Mets and Phillies, going 219-100 with a 2.93 ERA. He had two 20-win seasons (1999, 2002) and captured three Cy Young Awards (1997, 1999-2000). An eight-time All-Star, the right-hander finished in Top 10 of his leagues Most Valuable Player Award voting twice: 1999 (2nd) and 2000 (5th). He won 1999 American League Pitching Triple Crown after leading the league in wins (23), earned run average (2.07) and strikeouts (313). Smoltz, who could be the first Hall of Fame member to have the famed Tommy John surgery, made a name for himself as a starter and closer, pitching 21 seasons for Braves, Red Sox and Cardinals. Smoltz had a career record of 213-155 with a 3.33 ERA with 154 saves. He won 1996 National League Cy Young Award and was named to eight All-Star Games (1989, 1992-93, 1996, 2002-03, 2005, 2007). As a reliever, the right-hander topped the 40-save mark three times (2002-04), the only three full seasons he served as his teams closer. His 3,084 strikeouts rank 16th all-time. Smoltz appeared in 25 postseason series over 14 seasons with Braves and Cardinals, posting 15-4 record in 41 appearances (27 starts) with 2.67 earned run average and four saves, striking out 199 batters in 209 innings. If the BBWAA elects at least two candidates in January, it will mark the first time since 2004-05 that the writers have elected multiple candidates in back- to-back years. Dennis Eckersley and Paul Molitor were elected in 2004, followed by Wade Boggs and Ryne Sandberg in 2005. The last time three-or-more BBWAA candidates were elected in successive years was 1954-55, when the DiMaggio-Hartnett-Lyons-Vance group followed the 1954 class of Bill Dickey, Rabbit Maranville and Bill Terry. The Class of 2015, and any candidates elected by the Golden Era Committee on Dec. 8, will be inducted on July 26 in Cooperstown. Carey Price gets the call in net for Canada when it takes on Finland to wrap up preliminary round play at the 2014 Winter Olympics today. Air Max 1 Trainers Cheap . Mike Babcock has turned to the Montreal Canadiens goalie over Roberto Luongo, who backed Canada to a gold medal in Vancouver in 2010, for Canadas final preliminary round game against the ailing Finns. You can listen to the game live on TSN Radio in Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Ottawa. Martin St. Louis takes his turn as the healthy scratch on forward, as Patrick Sharp draws back into the lineup. P.K. Subban will also be watching from the side with Dan Hamhuis returning to the blue line. "These are great players, great people that are committed to us winning a medal," Babcock said. "Its all about the medal. ... When you win at the end you made the right decisions, if you dont, you get second-guessed." Pittsburgh Penguins linemates Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz, along with Jeff Carter, will be split up for todays contest; Crosby playing alongside wingers Jamie Benn and Patrice Bergeron. "Benn, Bergeron and Tavares have been a great line," Babcock said. "But the great thing about it, is that I can put it back at any time. Ive got those lines set up where the wingers and go back and forth seamlessly. Kunitz and Nash can go tonight with Crosby in a heartbeat. So well see what happens." The team is already without Mikko Koivu and Valtteri Filppula. The ageless wonder, 42-year-old Teemu Selanne, will once again be thrust into a leading role for the Finnish offence. Since the NHL began participating in the Winter Olympics with Nagano in 1998, no player has more goals at the Games than Selannes 15. "Theyve been playing some good hockey, been putting up some big goals," Canadian defenceman Alex Pietrangelo said. "They have a lot of firepower up front and some pretty good skating D back there. When it comes to the goaltending everybody knows how deep they are back there." Either Canada or Finland can secure the number one spot in Group B with a regulation win. Sweden won Group C with a perfect 3-0 record, but with a goal-differential of five they would finish behind either team in that scenario. Finland enters the game with a goal-differential of nine, while Canada enters with eight more goals than they have conceded. Nike Air Max 1 Trainers Sale . The Rays hope to stay alive for the postseason and salvage the finale of this series Sunday at Rogers Centre, where they dropped a 7-2 decision Saturday. Chris Archer lasted 2 1/3 innings in the no-decision, charged with a run and five hits, and Alex Torres suffered the loss in relief. Air Max 1 Mens Sale . Wheeler scored two goals, including the winner, as the Winnipeg Jets beat the Minnesota Wild 6-4 on Friday in a game that featured a seven-goal first period. http://www.discountairmax1sale.com/ . On paper, it looks a little like Andre the Giant taking on a midget wrestler. It has all the makings of a rout with the Americans adding an eighth win in nine outings of this biennial event. The Yanks have eight players in the top 15 in the world while the Internationals have just one.INDIANAPOLIS -- Nick Foles threw a tying touchdown pass with 3:25 to go, and then set up Cody Parkey for the winning 36-yard field goal as time expired, lifting Philadelphia to a 30-27 win at Indianapolis on Monday night. Darren Sproles had seven receptions for 152 yards to go along with a touchdown run as the Eagles (2-0) won their first game on the road for the sixth consecutive season. Indianapolis (0-2) has lost consecutive regular-season games for the first time since Andrew Luck and coach Chuck Pagano arrived in 2012. The Colts led most of the night, including 27-20 late in the game. But Lucks late interception led to Foles tying 6-yard TD pass to Jeremy Maclin, and after another three-and-out by the Colts, Foles drove the Eagles into position for the winning field goal. "We felt we had some plays (in the first half), we just couldnt make them," Eagles coach Chip Kelly said. "But were going to play 60 minutes and we played 60 minutes." The Eagles potent offence started slow, managing just two field goals in the first half and failing to score a touchdown before LeSean McCoys 1-yard run with 4:32 left in the third quarter. They finished strong, tying it at 20 when Sproles managed to stay on his feet for a 19-yard run late in the third and again at 27 on a 6-yard TD pass to Jeremy Maclin. Luck drove the Colts right back down the field and hooked up with Ahmad Bradshaw for a tiebreaking score, but Indy couldnt close it out and the Eagles took advantage. Foles was 21 of 37 for 331 yards with the one score. LeSean McCoy ran 20 times for 79 yards and a touchdown. Indy looked as if it would give Luck a respite from his late-game heroics. The Colts led most of the night, thanks to an unusually strong ground game. But it just waasnt enough. Air Max 1 Cheap. Luck tried to seal the game with a short pass to T.Y. Hilton with 5:08 to go and the Colts driving. But Malcolm Jenkins caught the ball on the run while it looked as if Hilton was grabbed on the play. There was no call. Two plays later, McCoy was stopped for a loss but LaRon Landry was called for a horse-collar tackle. Sproles then took a swing pass for a 51-yard gain to the 6, and Foles found Maclin for the tying score. The Eagles defence held again and Parkey finally won it. "They made the plays they had to make. We just didnt play a 60-minute ballgame," Pagano said. "Turnovers killed us. Big runs, big plays in the pass game, killed us." Indy controlled most of the first three quarters. Luck wiped out a 3-0 deficit with a 1-yard TD pass to Bradshaw with 5:18 left in the first quarter. And after Parkey missed a 38-yard field goal, Luck set up Adam Vinatieri for a 46-yarder to make it 10-3 early in the second quarter. After Parkey made a 23-yard field goal, Luck passed to Jack Doyle for a 1-yard TD with 1:13 left in the first half to make it 17-6. When it looked as if the Colts might pull away following Vinatieris 27-yard field goal midway through the third quarter, the Eagles rallied with the TDs from McCoy and Sproles. Luck broke the tie with the TD pass to Bradshaw, and a late interception gave the Eagles one more chance to tie it. "I just think we did a better job in the second half," Kelly said. NOTES: Eagles CB Nolan Carroll II left the game with an injured elbow but returned in the third quarter after X-rays were negative. ... Philadelphia linebacker Mychal Kendricks left in the third quarter with a calf injury. ... Indy was hosting its first Monday night game since 2010. Even with Al Horfords season-ending injury in December and a 1-14 stretch in February and March, the Hawks made the Eastern Conference field with two games remaining. "Im happy for all the guys," Teague said. "We worked so hard all year. Injuries and everything that can happen to a team happened. We were able to still make it to the playoffs." Teague scored 25 points, Lou Williams had 18 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and the Hawks earned the Easts final playoff spot with a 98-85 victory over the Miami Heat on Saturday night. Atlantas third straight victory eliminated the New York Knicks from playoff contention. Williams scored the Hawks last 12 points. LeBron James finished with 27 points and Dwyane Wade, in his first game since missing nine straight with a sore left hamstring, scored 24 for Miami. The two-time defending champion Heat, who have lost three of four, gave up the ground they gained in the standings Friday by beating Indiana at home and taking a one-half game lead over the Pacers. Miami and Indiana are now tied atop the Eastern Conference with 54-26 records. The Heats 85 points were their third-fewest this season. "Its not finished," James said. "I see the standings. Theres a couple games left and the seeding is changing every day." James and Chris Bosh returned to the floor with 6:42 remaining and Miami trailing 81-72, but DeMarre Carroll stole the ball from Bosh and Mike Scotts fastbreak dunk put Atlanta ahead by 11 with 6:09 remaining. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra called timeout to settle down his team, but James missed a jumper and Teague hit a free throw to make it 84-72. James hit a 3 two possessions later, but Teague drove to the rim again for an 11-point lead, and Miami never got closer than eight the rest of the way. Wade finished the first half with 16 points, going 7 for 7 from the field in just 11 minutes. He began the third quarter with an offensive foul, a missed jumper and hit one of two free throwws, but he finished strong before sitting out the final 5:46 to rest. Sale Air Max Black. "It was good, better than I can envision," Wade said. "When youre out so long, youre just thinking of getting your wind back. I think the best thing that happened was the first play of the game, getting that block and then LeBron kind of holding up and letting me get the first dunk. From there, I kind of was into the game." The Hawks never trailed after Teagues 12-footer made it 53-51 early in the third. Carroll finished with 17 points, and Paul Millsap added 11. Scott scored 12 points in a reserve role, joining Williams to help Atlantas bench outscore Miamis 35-8. Bosh finished with 11 points. "Needless to say that was a tough second half," Spoelstra said. "We couldnt get it going on either side of the court. Its disappointing to have this type of performance on the road." Miami visits Washington on Monday and end the regular season at home Wednesday against Philadelphia. The Pacers host Oklahoma City on Sunday and visit Orlando on Wednesday to close the regular season. Atlanta hosts Charlotte on Monday and visits Milwaukee on Wednesday. As the No. 8 seed, the Hawks will play either Miami or Indiana in the first round of the playoffs. "Im happy that we get to play more games and I get to talk more about improving and getting better each practice," Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said. "We want to build something here. Miami has been in the Finals for three years in a row. There are a lot of teams that have had a lot of success. It takes time to build your habits." NOTES: A moment of silence was held before the game following the death Friday of Lou Hudson, the six-time All-Star with the Hawks who retired in 1979 and still ranks as the franchises third-leading scorer. ... The Hawks are wearing a black stripe on their uniform to acknowledge Hudsons passing. ... The Heat dropped to 22-18 on the road. ... The Hawks improved to 24-16 at home. ... LOS ANGELES -- Prosecutors charged former NFL safety Darren Sharper on Friday with raping and drugging two women in California and disclosed he is under investigation in connection with five more drug-related rapes in three other states. Cheap Nike Free Uk . Sharper briefly appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court, where his arraignment was postponed until Feb. 20 at the request of his lawyers. They issued a statement saying he would be exonerated. Prosecutors then filed a motion to increase Sharpers bail to $10 million and outlined details of investigations involving him in Las Vegas, Tempe, Ariz., and New Orleans. Sharper has not been charged in the other jurisdictions. In the bail motion, Los Angeles County Investigator John Maccharella described a pattern in which the former football star met women at clubs or parties and lured them to a hotel room, where they were allegedly drugged and raped. The motion says the incidents happened in the past five months, with two occurring within a day in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. After conferring with police in other jurisdictions, Maccharella said in the bail motion that the first assault followed an event for New Orleans Saints football players on Sept. 22, 2013. Maccharella said he was told a woman went to a New Orleans bar with Sharper, consumed an alcoholic beverage provided by him and blacked out. She awoke the next morning while being sexually assaulted, the bail motion stated, noting that an exam later showed Sharpers DNA was present. The Los Angeles charges were based on incidents on Oct. 30, 2013, and Jan. 14, 2014, beginning at a West Hollywood nightclub. Sharper allegedly met two women each time, invited them to a party then said he had to stop at his hotel. In the October incident, each woman was given a shot of an alcoholic beverage before blacking out, and one later awoke to find the other being sexually assaulted, the charging documents state. In January, a woman awoke and suspected she had been assaulted, the documents state. Similar scenarios played out on Jan. 15 in Las Vegas and on Nov. 20, 2013, in Arizona, the bail motion states. In Los Angeles, Sharper is facing two counts of rape by use of drugs, four counts of furnishing a controlled substance, and one count of possession of a controlled substance. The complaint alleges the drugs involved were morphine and zolpidem, which is sold under the brand name Ambien. Sharper was represented by prominent Los Angeles attorneys Blair Berk and Leonard Levine. "We look forward to the true facts being revealed in this case," Berk said after the brief court appearance. "And we are hopeful Mr. Sharper will be fully exonerated before this case is concluded." Sharper, 38, played in the NFL from 1997 to 2010, mostly with the Packers. Sharper was arrested on Jan. 17. He was allowed to remain free on $200,000 bail and ordered to surrender his passport. He has not entered a plea. Superior Court Judge Roberto Longoria did not immediately take up the bail motion. Sharpers lawyers refused to comment on the other investigations. If convicted in the California case, Sharper could face more than 30 years in state prison. Sharper was selected All-Pro six times and chosen for the Pro Bowl five times. He played in two Super Bowls, one with the Packers as a rookie and a second with the Saints. Cheap Nike Free UK 2018 . The 20-year-old forward already has plenty of NHL experience and scored a memorable hat trick in last years playoffs against the Montreal Canadiens that led to chants of "Pageau, Pageau, Pageau" in a mock chant of the Habs "Ole, Ole, Ole" cheer from a fired-up crowd at Scotiabank Place. So it makes all the sense in the world that he dominated at the weekends rookie tournament in London. "He looks like the best player Ive seen this weekend," said Luke Richardson, who coached Pageau with the AHLs Binghamton Senators last season. "Im not surprised at all. I wasnt surprised last year when he went up to Ottawa (and) what he did." But Richardson doesnt think it was a fruitless exercise for Pageau to spend time amid sub-NHL-calibre competition. A little ego boost cant hurt as the Ottawa native tries to make the Senators roster out of training camp. "People even mentioned yesterday why he is even here, but its kind of a process that hes never really gone through," Richardson said Sunday. "Even with the success that hes got last year and at the end of last year in the NHL I think this is a good step for him to go out and have a chance to dominate at a level like this and just be real confident and stay on that same level that he finished off with last year going into the main camp." Pageau, who had four goals and two assists in 10 Stanley Cup playoff games and two goals and two assists in nine regular-season games for the Senators, could get caught up in a numbers game up front. But the natural centre might be too talented to send back to the minors. "When Ill be at the big camp Ill do everything I can to stay up," he said. With Ottawa beginning the process of trying to replace the offence gone after the departure of Daniel Alfredsson and the trade of Jakob Silfverberg to the Anaheim Ducks for Bobby Ryan, Pageau could be part of the solution. Black Nike Free UK. He scored 80 goals in 175 career QMJHL games. "Hes just a guy thats getting better and better all the time," Richardson said. "Hes real smart, hes getting stronger, hes fearless out there and hes showing a little bit more of an offensive touch, which he showed in junior." Taking everything at the weekends rookie camp hosted by the Toronto Maple Leafs at face value given the low stakes and Pageaus experience, he played as well as could be expected. Pageau was determined to use it as a way to get into game shape but also capitalize on being a step or three ahead of most of the other prospects on the ice. "I think coaches give me a lot of chance (to) play with good players, give me a lot of ice time, power-play time, PK time," he said. "That helps my confidence. When I jump on the ice Im more confident. I just try to work hard and good things happen when you work hard." Working hard isnt a problem for Pageau from Richardsons perspective. "The amount he plays and how he plays up and down the ice, on the bench you look at him, hes steamy, hes sweaty but hes never breathing hard," the former Ottawa assistant said. "Hes ready for the next shift. Hes a competitor." The competition will begin in earnest soon enough for Pageau, who will be among a few young players fighting for spots at the Senators training camp. If he manages to put up numbers like he did in the playoffs and carry some momentum over from rookie tournament games, Pageau is a good bet to make it. "I think this is a great situation for him to go into Ottawas training camp with that confidence high," Richardson said. "Hes really shown everybody that last year was not just a flash in the pan." Chicago Bears 1 (14) - Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech; 2 (51) - Ego Ferguson, DT, LSU; 3 (82) - Will Sutton, DT, Arizona State; 4 (117) - KaDeem Carey, RB, Arizona; 4 (131) - Brock Vereen, S, Minnesota; 6 (183) - David Fales, QB, San Jose State; 6 (191) - Pat ODonnell, P, Miami; 7 (246) - Charles Leno, Jr, OT, Boise State Top Picks Analysis: The Bears needed help on all three levels of their defense and ended up going for a cornerback, Virginia Techs Will Fuller, before bolstering the defensive line with back-to-back defensive tackles in Ego Ferguson of LSU and Will Sutton of Arizona State. Cheap Air Max 95 Womens . Fuller isnt as fast as the drafts top corner, Oklahoma States Justin Gilbert, and not as physical as former Michigan State star Darqueze Dennard but he may have been the most NFL ready, at least according to draft analyst Mike Mayock. "I thought he was most NFL-ready cornerback I saw on tape," Mayock said. "In run support, he reminds me of (Kansas City Chiefs cornerback) Brandon Flowers when he came out of Virginia Tech. Fuller can play nickel corner on Day 1." GM Phil Emery then carpet-bombed his three-technique issues with the unrefined Ferguson and the athletic but often out-of-shape Sutton. Best Value Pick: Fourth-round safety Brock Vereen is a blazing fast, rangy free safety with the cover skills to make a difference at a position which is a big need in the Windy City. Hes also got the bloodlines as his father Henry was drafted by Tampa Bay before playing in the Canadian Football League, and his brother, Shane, is a running back for the Patriots. Questionable Calls: Yeah, Charles Tillman is aging but the bottom line is that the Bears still have "Peanut" and Tim Jennings on the outside while the far-less inspiring Ryan Mundy and Chris Conte are currently penciled in at safety. Taking Fuller while the drafts two top safeties -- Louisvilles Calvin Pryor and Alabamas HaSean Clinton-Dix -- were available is going to be put under a microscope in the Windy City, especially if Fuller struggles early. Summary: Its no surprise that all of Chicagos picks during the first two days were used on defense but the Bears needed more than a nickel back and competition for Jay Ratliff. Final Grade: C Undrafted rookie free agent signings: QB Jordan Lynch, Northern Illinois; OT James Dunbar, TCU; DT Brandon Dunn, Louisville; LB Christian Jones, Florida State; LB Devekeyan Lattimore, South Florida; LB Tana Patrick, Alabama; DT Lee Pegues, East Carolina; TE Cody Booth, Temple; G Ryan Groy, Wisconsin Detroit Lions 1 (10) - Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina; 2 (40) - Kyle Van Noy, OLB, BYU; 3 (76) - Travis Swanson, OC, Arkansas; 4 (133) - Nevin Lawson, CB, Utah State; 4 (136) - Larry Webster, DE, Bloomsburg; 5 (15 - Caraun Reid, DT, Princeton; 6 (189) - T.J. Jones, WR, Notre Dame; 7 (229) - Nate Freese, K, Boston College Top Pick Analysis: The biggest need in Detroit was on the back end of the defense but the Lions stayed true to their board at No. 10 overall and added athletic North Carolina tight end Eric Ebron to a loaded list of offensive playmakers which already includes Calvin Johnson, Golden Tate, Reggie Bush and Brandon Pettigrew. Its going to be all about outscoring people in Motown this season. The Lions did add some defense in the second round with versatile BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who figures to solidify the SAM spot next to Stephen Tulloch and DeAndre Levy. Detroit then brought in Arkansas center Travis Swanson as the heir apparent to the 35-year-old Dominic Raiola. Best Value Pick: The Lions are set at receiver with Johnson and Tate but sixth-round pick T.J. Jones is an accomplished playmaker on the college level who eventually could turn into a solid slot receiver. Questionable Call: Ebron seems like a luxury pick for a team with plenty of holes on the other side of the ball. Detroit may have been in no mans land when it comes to defensive talent at No. 10 but GM Martin Mayhew could have traded down, added a pick or two and gotten a better fit for his team. Summary: Whatever you believe, its going to be very difficult for opposing defenses to match up when Johnson, Ebron, Bush and Tate are on the field together. Meanwhile, Van Noy and Swanson figure to be solid contributors in time. FINAL GRADE: B Undrafted rookie free agent signings: QB James Franklin, Missouri; TE Jacob Maxwell, Louisiana-Lafayette; S Gabe Lynn, Oklahoma; OL D.J. Morrell, Old Dominion; S Jerome Couplin, William and Mary; WR Andrew Peacock, App State; OT Cornelius Lucas, Kansas State; FB Chad Abram, Florida State; OG Alex Bullard, Tennessee; OG A.J. Dalton, Robert Morris; DT Greg Hickman, Florida International; CB Mohammed Seisay, Nebraska Green Bay Packers 1 (21) - Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, FS, Alabama; 2 (53) - Davante Adams, WR, Fresno State; 3 (85) - Khyri Thornton, DT, Southern Miss; 3 (9 - Richard Rodgers; TE, California; 4 (121) - Carl Bradford, OLB, Arizona State; 5 (161) - Corey Linsley, OC, Ohio State; 5 (176) - Jared Abbrederis, WR, Wisconsin; 6 (197) - Demetri Goodson, CB, Baylor; 7 (236) - Jeff Janis, WR, Saginaw Valley State Top Picks Analysis: Packers GM Ted Thompson had four picks in the first three rounds and did some nice things with them, snaring perhaps the best safety in the draft, potential replacements for James Jones and Jermichael Finley, and help for the front seven on defense. Alabamas Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, the No. 21 overall pick, is a natural center fielder and will fit in nicely opposite Morgan Burnett as Green Bays last line of defense. Second-round WR Davante Adams is a big, physical wide receiver who should fit in nicely as Aaron Rodgers third option after Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, while third-round tight end Richard Rodgers has had some weight issues and is not going to be nearly as explosive as Finley but he will help fortify a need position. Finally, defensive tackle Khyri Thornton will bring high energy to a group that badly needs it. Best Value Pick: Fifth-round wide receiver Jared Abbrederis of Wisconsin is a NFL-ready route runner with a lot of blue-collar traits who could develop into a nice fourth for fifth receiver for Aaron Rodgers. Questionable Calls: Richard Rodgers has pedestrian speed and even shakier short-area quickness so its hard to imagine him developing into anything more than a Y in-line tight end. Summary: This was a mixed bag but it looks like the Packers hit it big at the top with Clinton-Dix and Adams before things got far shakier. FINAL GRADE: B Undrafted rookie free agent signings: LB Joe Thomas, South Carolina State; QB Chase Rettig, Boston College; G John Fullington, Washington State; CB Ryan White, Auburn; RB Rajion Neal, Tennessee; LB Jake Doughty, Utah State; DL Carlos Gray, North Carolina State; TE Justin Perillo, Maine; LB Jay Elliot, Toledo DT Mike Pennel, Colorado State-Pueblo; RB James Sims, Kansas; OL Jordan McCray, Central Florida; OL Bronson Irwin, Oklahoma; LB Adrian Hubbard, Alabama; S Tanner Miller, Iowa; DE Denico Autry, Mississippi State; DB Demetruce McNeal, Auburn Minnesota Vikings 1 (9) - Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA; 1 (32) - Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville; 3 (72) Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon State; 3 (96) - Jerick McKinnon, RB, Georgia Southern; 5 (145) - David Yankey, OG, Stanford; 6 (182) - Antone Exum, CB, Virginia Tech; 6 (184) - Kendall James, CB, Maine; 7 (220) Stephen Shamar, DT, UConn; 7 (223) Brandon Watts, OLB, Georgia Tech; 7 (225) - Jabari Price, CB, North Carolina Top Pick Analysis: Vikings general manager Rick Spielman has been criticized a lot for missing so badly on Christian Ponder with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 draft. Now its time to give him credit for learning from his mistakes. Spielman has now amassed seven first-round picks in the last three NFL drafts -- Matt Kalil and Harrison Smith in 2012, Shariff Floyd, Xavier Rhodes and the explosive Cordarrelle Patterson from last year, and now Anthony Barr and Teddy Bridgewater in 2014. Barr is raw, spending just two years on defense at UCLA after flipping from running back, but his athletic skills are off the charts and some look at him and think Jason Taylor. "Ive never had a linebacker, even thinking back to my Dallas days, that has the size and speed and all the things that this guy has," Vikings first- year head coach Mike Zimmer when talking about Barr. The key to the Vikings draft, though, will be Bridgewater because Minnesota needs the answer at the games most important position. That said, getting a player with the 32nd overall pick who was once considered a top-five-level prospect is a prudent gamble. "There is no pressure on this kid to come in and play," Spielman said. "Were very comfortable with Matt Cassel right now. Were very comfortable with Christian Ponder. Hell come in and compete and then the coaches will determine if hes even ready to play this year." Third-round defensive end Scott Crichton, meanwhile, is tailor-made for Zimmers rotational style of defense up front, and the insanely-gifted Jerick McKinnon will be given every opportunity to replace the departed Toby Gerhart as Adrian Petersons caddy. Best Value Pick: It remains to be seen if hes athletic enough but fifth-round offensive guard David Yankey is a physical, road-grader who could push Charlie Johnson at left guard for the Vikings Questionable Calls: McKinnon has frightening physical gifts but he is a very raw player and its going to be difficult to get him on the field except in very manufactured situations. Summary: Spielman had done a nice job adding talent, especially in the guts of the draft. Evans is charitably listed at 5-foot-9. His coach and teammates tease him that he looks a foot shorter. Yet he stood awfully tall for Albany on Tuesday night. Evans scored 22 points, including two clinching free throws with 12.6 seconds left, to lead the Great Danes to their first NCAA tournament victory, 71-64 over Mount St. Marys in the First Four. Evans, an often overlooked component in Albanys lineup, belied his height with nine rebounds to go with three assists. "Hes about 4-foot-8, so hes really impressive," laughed his running mate at guard, Peter Hooley, who had 20 points. "I dont think theres another 4-8 guard who could go in there and get that many boards. He did what he needed to do to get this win." It was a signature victory for the America East Conference tournament champs, who had come up empty in three previous trips to the big dance. "It means a lot," said an emotional coach Will Brown. "Theres no better feeling. Like I told our kids, were going to be in the history books at the University of Albany forever." The Great Danes (19-14) advance to meet overall No. 1 seed and top-ranked Florida on Thursday in Orlando. But that was a concern for another day. It was a wild game of incredible turnarounds, with the Great Danes bolting to leads of 13-0 and 21-2, only to have The Mount (16-17) bounce back with a 21-2 run of its own to pull even. Hooley, one of three Australians on the Albany roster, hit two free throws with 2:43 remaining to stretch the lead to 65-62. After Julian Norfleet countered with a bucket, Hooley again pounded his way to the basket and lofted a shot over a defender for a 67-64 lead at the 2-minute mark. It stayed that way with the teams missing big shots. Rashad Whack and Norfleet each missed potential tying 3s -- Whacks rolled almost inside the rim and then bounded away. "When it hit the rim, I thought it was going to go in," Whack said softly. Evans was fouled with 12.6 seconds left and hit both shots to increase the lead to five points -- and out of reach of another long-range shot. Evans was most proud of his rebounding. "They shot a lot of 3s and there were a lot of long rebounds," he said with a grin. "I was just at the right place at the right time. Cheap Air Max 95 Online. " After playing two years of junior-college ball and sitting behind a senior starter a year ago, Brown told Evans his day would eventually come. "Hes the happiest kid in the world right now," Brown said. Norfleet then missed another 3 and Albany finally could call itself an NCAA winner. Will Miller, a freshman who came off the bench, led The Mount with 21 points, all on 3s. But he didnt get off a shot in the last 3:32 after making back-to-back 3s to draw the Mountaineers within a point. Whack added 16 points and Sam Prescott 14 for The Mount, which electrified the crowd at the University of Dayton with 3-point fireworks. The Mountaineers hit 12 of 37 shots behind the arc to time and again come back from deficits. The glut of 3-pointers was nothing new for the Mountaineers. They came in with an offence heavily dependent on shots behind the arc. They averaged 9 of 25 on 3-pointers coming in. Albany had made some racket in the NCAAs before, but had never come out on top. In 2006, the Great Danes led by double figures in the second half but lost to Connecticut, 72-59. A year later, they held their own before falling Virginia, 84-57. A year ago, as a 15 seed, they battled Duke throughout before coming up short, 73-61. Mount St. Marys was also making its fourth NCAA appearance, although it had won once before -- a victory over Coppin State in 2008 in the old format of an opening-round leading into the big tournament. Albany led 35-31 at the break, but that didnt tell the story of one bizarre half. The Mount couldnt do much right for the first 8-plus minutes. The Great Danes raced to a 13-0 lead. The Mountaineers missed misfired on their first 11 shots from the field, including six behind the arc. "A lot of teams would have folded," said Mount coach Jamion Christian. "Our guys didnt do that. They took the punch and they bounced back." Things quickly turned around, with Mount going on an 18-0 run. Like a couple of sparring partners, the teams kept trading flurries in the second half. Down 45-41, Albany went on a 10-1 run. Trailing 60-53, the Mountaineers scored nine of the next 12 capped by Millers two 3s to cut the deficit to a point. That set the stage for Evans to play like a giant. Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '

Joel Embiid scored a career-high 18 points and keyed a pair of big second-half runs that propelled No. Cheap Air Max China 2017 . 13 Kansas to an 80-63 victory over New Mexico at the Sprint Center. The Jayhawks (7-3) were coming off back-to-back road losses to Colorado and Florida, but got back on track behind big efforts from Embiid and Perry Ellis, who had a game-high 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting and added nine rebounds. Embiid tallied 16 of his points after halftime. Cameron Bairstow and Kendall Williams each finished with 24 points for the Lobos (7-2), who shot just 27.3 percent (6-for-22) in the second half en route to having a four-game win streak halted. Kansas owned a slim 41-40 edge early in the second half until Ellis and Embiid led a 14-2 run to create some distance. The two dropped in seven points apiece during the surge, with Ellis layup off a Wayne Selden feed putting the Jayhawks up 55-42 with under 13 1/2 minutes left. New Mexico netted six straight points later on to cut the deficit to 60-54 midway through the final frame, and Williams was fouled by Andrew Wiggins while burying a deep triple shortly afterward. He promptly sank the bonus attempt to pull the Lobos within 63-58 with 8:03 remaining. That was as close as New Mexico would get, as Kansas responded by embarking on a 12-1 tear to put the contest out of reach. Embiid again had a big hand in the momentum-changing sequence, putting up seven more points as the Jayhawks built a comfortable 75-59 advantage with under three minutes to play. Behind 16 points from Bairstow and 12 from Williams, the Lobos were able to hang right with the Jayhawks all throughout a tightly-contested opening half that contained six lead changes and saw neither team ahead by more than six points. Wiggins tipped in teammate Naadir Tharpes miss with 1:16 to go in the period to snap a 34-34 tie, then later hit two free throws to put Kansas ahead by a 39-36 score in the closing seconds. New Mexico trailed by just one at intermission, though, after Arthur Edwards second-chance bucket just prior to the buzzer. Zanetti will retire after 19 seasons at Inter, and the stadium was sold out as fans packed in to bid farewell to their 40-year-old captain. Lazio threatened to spoil the party when Giuseppe Biava scored the opening goal inside two minutes to stun San Siro. However, Rodrigo Palacio scored twice, either side of Mauro Icardis strike, and Hernanes netted against his former club to secure victory. At the end of the match, footage was shown on the big screens of Zanettis greatest Inter moments, and the clearly emotional player was led out by his family, peers and club presidents, with all his teammates wearing shirts with his number four on it. To chants of "theres only one captain," Zanetti took the microphone and thanked the fans and teammates. "I have always tried to honour and defend the Inter shirt in every country in the world," he said. "I learnt to love it thanks to you, I will love you forever. A very lovely career is coming to an end for me. I dont know what I will do but now one thing is certain: I will defend Inter even off the pitch." Players from across the globe also took to Twitter to pay tribute to Zanetti, including former teammate Mario Balotelli, who wrote, "Javier Zanetti is an example of humanity and professionalism for all of us!" Inter has five points more than Torino and six more tthan Parma and AC Milan, who all have two matches remaining. Nike Air Max Shoes 2017 China. It is the same number of points above Hellas Verona, which squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to Udinese following a superb goal from Antonio Di Natale. Verona and Inter have only one match remaining. Inter coach Walter Mazzarri was resoundly booed before kickoff when it was revealed Zanetti was starting on the bench. The 20-year-old Mateo Kovacic - who was less than four months old when Zanetti made his Inter debut - set up two of the goals with delightful throughballs. The Inter players hugged Zanetti after every goal, and the Argentine was eventually sent on seven minutes into the second half to a raucous standing ovation. Zanetti was wearing a special captains armband for the occasion. It had the words "Zanetti 4 Ever" in large letters over a background with the name of all his Inter teammates past and present. In Verona, substitute Badu came off the bench with minutes left and drilled in a stoppage-time equalizer for Udinese with a low shot into the corner. Luca Toni put Verona in front from the penalty spot in the 14th minute after Alessandro Agostini was tripped by Allan. It was the veteran strikers 20th league goal of the season. Emil Hallfredsson doubled Veronas lead in the 54th before Di Natale pulled one back two minutes later in stunning fashion. The Udinese forward controlled the ball with his back to goal and swiveled to fire a volley under the bar with his second touch for his 190th Serie A goal. SAN ANTONIO -- Led by a no-frills coach, the San Antonio Spurs have long stated the regular season means little to them. Nike Vapormax For Sale . Yet even normally stoic San Antonio couldnt hide its emotion on the court, and the satisfaction afterward, of toppling the two-time defending champion Miami Heat. Tim Duncan had 23 points and 11 rebounds, and the Spurs never trailed against the Heat, weathering a sluggish third quarter for an intense 111-87 victory Thursday. "Im sure this has some special meaning, to say something different would be silly," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said, "but we expect them to come out hard and play." In their first home game against Miami since losing a heart-wrenching, seven-game NBA Finals, the Spurs handed the Heat their worst loss of the season. The rematch brought out a raucous sold-out crowd and sparked high emotions from both teams. Players dived recklessly for loose balls and yelled at officials, while Popovich often screamed at his own players. "We needed a game like this," Manu Ginobili said. "Weve been talking (about it) all season long. Our record was probably 1-10, 1-8 or something like that against the top four teams in the league. So we needed a big one, and today we played well. . Its one of those wins that really gets you going." Tony Parker scored 17 points, including 14 in a wild first half, Boris Diaw added 16 and Kawhi Leonard had 11 for the Spurs (45-16), which has won five straight. Chris Bosh had 24 points, LeBron James added 19, Dwyane Wade had 16 and Michael Beasley 11 for Miami (43-16). James, who ditched the protective mask he was wearing early in the first half, was hounded by Leonard into shooting 6 for 18. The Spurs didnt do anything different defensively than they had in the past, James said, but the NBA did. The four-time MVP said the short-sleeved, tight-fitting "El Heat" jerseys Miami had to wear are not conducive for shooting. "Im not making any excuses, but Im not a big fan of the jerseys," James said. "So I have to figure something out next time I have to wear the short-sleeve jerseys. Every time I shoot, it feels like its just pulling right up underneath my arm. I already dont have much room for error on my jump shot anyways, so its definitely not a good thing." James got rid of the mask that protected his broken nose with four minutes left in the first quarter. "I dont like it," James said. "Its that simple; just got frustrated with it early on so I took it off. It didnt help me, taking it off. Its probably a game-to-game thing." He missed his first two attempts sans mask, tossing up a wild 14-footer that banged off the front of the rim and backboard, then botching a reverse layup. His first mask-free basket was a 5-foot running floater over Leonard with 6:26 left in the half. "(Leonard) was a pest," Duncan said. "Thats what we need him to be. He stuck his hand in there, knocked some balls away, got some steals, he contested shots. I think he did a great job overall in every aspect." The Spurs opened the fourth quarter on a 13-6 run, returning to the breakneck attack that led to a 17-point lead in the first half. Duncans 18-foot jumper gave San Antonio a 99-85 lead with 3:00 remaining, drawing a fist-pounding of the scorers table by Manu Ginobili as he waited to enter the game. The closing run was needed after the Heat kept the Spurs out of the paint early in the second half, to the point Popovich screamed, "Tony! Attack!" after his All-Star point guard walked the ball up midway through the third period. Miami turned up the heat defensively, closing quickly on every pass. San Antonio was 7 for 22 from the field in the third quarter. Miami was 10 for 18 in the quarter, with James, Wade and Bosh scoring six points each. Miami had cut the lead to 79-74 with 2:00 left in the third period, but could get no closer. "They are difficult to guard," Wade said. "They have a great system and they have a very unselfish team. That is why they are one of the better teams in the league. Thy stay true to their system and believe in it." Parker showed no signs of the lower body problems that sidelined him six games last month, driving unrestrained into the paint. Parker played all but the final two minutes of the first quarter, going 5 for 6 from the field in scoring 10 points and dishing out three assists. "Tonys our setup guy," Duncan said. "He runs our team, he sets our pace, sets our rhythm and he played the right way tonight." NOTES: The Spurs Jeff Ayres (sprained right hand) sat out for the second time in the last three games. Ayres has started 10 games. ... Miami received a rousing ovation when it took the court for pregame warmups, but was booed lustily during introductions. ... James glared at official Kevin Scott after drawing consecutive fouls, starting with a charge. He was mum when he drove headlong into Duncan for his third foul of the quarter and fourth overall. Time to go to work. Cheap Adidas NEO 2017 . After four months of everyone telling you how good you are, the transition of now proving how good you are begins. Yes, the contract still has to be signed and a residence found, but in a matter of 30 days for those drafted in the first round of this years NFL Draft, expectations will be high, as now you have to prove your worth. As always, it was an interesting process at Radio City Music Hall with limited drama and more logic than risk. The logic began early with with Jadeveon Clowney and Greg Robinson going #1 and #2 to the Houston Texans and St. Louis Rams, respectively. Blake Bortles at #3 was a surprise, but then again the Jacksonville Jaguars have serious quarterback developmental problems, so this was a need pick more than a move for the best available player. Where the draft became interesting was when the Buffalo Bills moved up to take Sammy Watkins out of Clemson. As an organization, I doubt they will regret the move 365 days from now, as Watkins is about as sure as you can get (barring injury, of course). When you look at the Bills right now, and this is despite the trade earlier today of Stevie Johnson to the San Francisco 49ers, Watkins and Robert Woods make for a solid tandem at wide receiver. Add CJ Spiller at running back and EJ Manuel has a lot to work with. And all four are similar in age , that age being young . A #1 pick in 2015 is a lot to give up, but Watkinss ability to take a short pass and make it into a major gain is phenomenal. A good aggressive move by the Bills. The next 3 picks (Khalil Mack to the Oakland Raiders , Jake Matthews to the Atlanta Falcons and Mike Evans to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) were expected. But then how about the Cleveland Browns? Justin Gilbert at corner to work in tandem with Joe Haden, also a first-round pick, was a bit surprising, but getting Johnny Manziel buy trading up four spots with the Philadelphia Eagles was smart, Draft day football. So the Browns created a top cornerback and a new quarterback and will have two first-rounders in 2015 with the Bills pick. Nice day of Draft strategy for Cleveland. I think Manziel will do well in the NFL. Kyle Shanahan will be his offensive co-ordinator and personal coach and that is significant in that it was Shanahan who coached Robert Griffin III in Washington. Whatever developmental mistake he made, if any, in Washington, he will not make in Cleveland with Manziel. The next seven picks had reason and thought about the until # 16 with the Dallas Cowboys. Now Zack Martin from Notre Dame will be a solid player, but Dallas allowed the third-most points in NFL history last year, so it did not make sense to draft a guard/tackle with their first. Yes, their center and last years first-rounder, Travis Frederick, was outstanding last year, but there were glaring needs ignored. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat Dallas to the Ryan Shazier pick one spot before and he was a player who Dallas wanted, but Calvin Pryor and CJ Mosley went to the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens with the next two picks! Both would be instant starters in Dallas. This one made no sense unless Zack Martin is a star very soon. Another team that made a good move was the New Orleans Saints with Brandin Cooks. They traded up with the Carolina Panthers and took the player who most emulates Darren Sproles, who is now an Eagle. Sean Payton is a master designer of both physical football on offence and speed football the next series. Cooks is a speed element that, in the Mercedes Superdome, could be difficult to contain. Pick #23 by the Kansas City Chiefs was pretty smart too. Dee Ford of Auburn fell off the evaluation radar completely as the Draft came closer to happening. He is a good speed rusher and now the Chiefs have three of them on their Roster. The Seattle Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos because of the pass rush in this years Super Bowl and the Chiefs took notice. Maybe the biggest risk/reward draft pick was #29 by the New England Patriots. i dont know much about Dominique Easley, a defensive lineman out of Florida, other than that he has had two ACL surgeries. If you are unfortunate to have a third, it is tough to remain explosive as your main body part is wearing out. I am sure the Patriots investigated his health intensely, but it is a risk, especially when you consider Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, that I am surprised they would take. Finally, Mike Zimmer and his Minnesota Vikings had a good day. Anthony Barr at # 9 out of UCLA could be a star on the horizon and then trading up with Seattle to get Teddy Bridgewater was also smart. The fans at Radio City Music Hall gave Bridgewater a standing ovation for a quarterback who lives for his mothers heath and dropped hard after his pro day. It will be really interesting to see how he does and, if he does well, it will put into dispute the emphasis on physical skills versus football skills coming out of college. He is in a great situation as Mike Zimmer will improve the defence, Adrian Peterson will be Adrian Peterson and with Phil Loadholt at right tackle and Matt Kalil at left tackle, Teddy Bridgewaters in-pocket skills will be supported. Bridgewaters coach by position is Norv Turner, who is responsible for Troy Aikmans success and Alex Smiths best year in San Francisco. Its a nice place to be. The first round is over in the NFL Draft and you know every team will say they got precisely what they wanted. We know thats not the truth, but with six more rounds to go, there still is optimism for all involved . Blue Adidas NEO Shoes . Irving played 10 minutes Sunday night before going to the locker room. He had two points and four assists, missing all five of his shots. The All-Star game MVP is the top scorer among Eastern Conference point guards with 21. His recovery time is expected to be six to eight months. Seidenberg was injured in the third period of Fridays 5-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators, when he got his leg tangled with forward Cory Conacher. The Montreal Impact are heading into hostile territory for their upcoming CONCACAF Champions League matchup. The Impact will need to contend with the Central American heat along with a raucous crowd in El Salvador when the Major League Soccer squad takes on C.D. FAS on Wednesday. Due to strict CONCACAF stadium requirements, FAS is unable to compete on its usual turf in Santa Ana. Instead, the match will be held in the substantially larger Estadio Cuscatlan, a 53,400-seater in the nations capital. Knowing just how loud and disruptive the FAS faithful can be, Impact midfielder Maxim Tissot is preparing for an intense atmosphere. "I heard about them, and its intimidating," Tissot said in a recent interview. "Itll be tough there, with both the opposing team and the referees. We have to be ready." In the clubs prior Champions League appearances in 2008 and 2013, Montreal travelled to Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guatemala. The Impact are 2-1-1 all-time in the Champions League in Central America. This will be the clubs first visit to El Salvador — Central Americas smallest nation — where the fans are known for their passion and sometimes unruly behaviour. In addition, Impact manager Frank Klopas will have to watch the match from the press box. Two weeks ago, when 10-man Montreal beat FAS 1-0 at Saputo Stadium to take a three-point lead at the top of their group, Klopas was ejected for leaving his technical area late in the game. The ejection came shortly after defender Hassoun Camara was shown a straight red card for a studs-up slide tackle on FAS midfielder Raul Renderos. Camara will also miss Wednesdays match due to suspension. After the ejections, FAS pressed for the equalizer, but could not capitalize with the man advantage. Striker Marco Di Vaio had the games lone goal. "Were going with confidence to El Salvador because we know that its going to be an important game for us," Di Vaio said. "We have to go there to try to win. We arrive there with more confidence for sure because we came out of a bad time and we know that everything now is simpler." Montreals meagre victory at home against the groups weakest team could be its undoing. The Impacts offensive woes proved costly lastt year when goal differential was a factor in their group stage elimination. Mens Adidas NEO Shoes. This fall, Montreal (1-0-0) will finish group play with a home-and-away series against the New York Red Bulls, the third and final team in Group 3. New York has yet to play a Champions League match this year. Only the winner of the group will advance to the eight-team knockout stage. FAS (0-1-0) is one of the most popular soccer teams in El Salvador. With 17 national titles, it is the countrys most decorated club. FAS is currently sixth in the Salvadoran Premier League with four points from three games. In 1979, the club won the CONCACAF Champions Cup in what later became the Champions League. Since the tournament changed name and format in 2008, FAS has never made it past the group stage in three occasions. On Wednesday, FAS will look for another standout performance from goakeeper Luis Contreras, who made six saves against the Impact two weeks ago. If not for Contreras, Montreal would likely have run away with the game early on. FAS will also benefit from a full team, which wasnt the case at Saputo Stadium. Due to visa issues, the team from Santa Ana travelled to Canada with just 14 players and without its head coach. The Impact, meanwhile, will have a slightly different look for the road game. Montreal finally added Argentine midfielder Ignacio Piatti to its roster after a lengthy courting process. Piatti made his first start for the club on Saturday before being substituted shortly after halftime. His arrival may not help the struggling team in MLS play, but the 29-year-old could help Montreal make a push in the Champions League. The Champions League is an annual club tournament that involves 24 teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Montreal is representing Canada in the competition after winning the Amway Canadian Championship in June. Notes: The Impact trained in Miami on Monday before leaving for El Salvador on Tuesday. … The distance between Montreal and San Salvador is 3,825 kilometres. … In 2008-09, when still in the North American Soccer League, the Impact reached the Champions League quarter-finals. … Montreal ended a seven-game losing streak in MLS with a 1-0 victory over Chicago on Saturday. CLEVELAND -- Theyre alive, barely, but it beats the alternative. The Indians playoff hopes are fragile, and theyre doing all they can to keep them from shattering. Yan Gomes hit a three-run homer, Michael Brantley got three more hits and Cleveland stayed in the AL wild-card chase for at least one more day with a 6-4 win over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night. A loss would have eliminated the Indians, but after blowing a 3-0 lead, they rallied and moved within 3 1/2 games of Kansas City and Oakland in the wild-card standings. There are four days left in the regular season. "We said all year long as long as we have life, were going to keep battling and thats exactly what we did tonight," outfielder David Murphy said. "Weve had some good moments. Weve had some bad moments this season, but hopefully were going to be going into the last series of the season still alive." The Royals, who havent made the playoffs since 1985, fell two games behind first-place Detroit in the AL Central. Zach McAllister (4-7) pitched 2 1-3 scoreless innings and Cody Allen worked the ninth for his 23rd save as the Indians kept their season relevant. Theyre off on Thursday, but the Indians will closely monitor Kansas Citys game in Chicago and Oaklands visit to Texas. "It has all to do whether or not we have life coming into Friday," Murphy said, "so regardless were going to come ready to play, but hopefully were going to be playing for something." Brantley has hit safely in 15 straight games and needs one more hit to be the first Indians player with 200 in a season since Kenny Lofton in 1996. The Indians took the lead in the fifth off rookie Brandon Finnegan (0-1) on Carlos Santanas RBI groundout. Cleveland added a run in the sixth on Murphys pinch sacrifice fly. Cleveland entered the unusual series -- the teams completed a suspended game on Monday -- 3 1/2 games behind the Royals and the Indians ended in the same place. Unfortunately for them, they wasted a chance to pull closer and now have to win their final three games and hope for help from other teams to play in the post-season. Billy Butler had three RBIs for Kansas City, which can lock up one of the two wild cards by winning one of four games in Chicago against the White Sox starting Thursday. "I know things are close, were close," Butler said. "Weve got four games left. If we could do it right now, wed be in a playoff spot. You cant help but realize that its right around the corner, but you have to keep grinding and keep your head down." Their flimsy playoff hopes fading, the Indians scored twice in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. Jason Vargas hit Michael Bourn with a pitch to open the inning and Royals manager Ned Yost pulled the left-hander, who has just one win in his last seven starts. Jose Ramirez doubled off the wall and the speedy Bourn, waved around by third-base coach Mike Sarbaugh, scored the tying run on a headfirst dive into the plate, reaching in with his left hand to avoid catcher Salvador Perezs tag. "When you see a guy dive into home like that you realize nobodys playing out the string," Indians manager Terry Francona said. "He was pretty fired up." Gomes two-out shot, his 21st homer, to straightaway centre gave the Indians a 3-0 lead in the first. WALK THIS WAY Santana walked three times, giving him 112 this season, the sixth most in club history. Santana has walked more than any major league switch-hitter since Lance Berkman (127) for Houston in 2002. NO RELIEF Indians reliever Bryan Shaw tied the club record with his 79th appearance, matching the mark set by Bobby Howry in 2005. K KINGS Clevelands pitchers have combined for 1,419 strikeouts, nine shy of the major league record set by Detroit in 2013. TRAINERS ROOM Indians: Nick Swisher rejoined his teammates after undergoing surgery on both knees last month. Swisher tried to play through pain for several months before deciding to have his knees "cleaned out." He expects to be ready for the start of spring training. UP NEXT Royals: RHP James Shields (14- makes his team-leading 34th start as Kansas City tries to clinch a playoff spot in Chicago. Shields is 20-5 with a 2.48 ERA on the road since the start of 2013. Indians: The Indians end a stretch of 30 games in 30 days with their final off day of 2014. They open a three-game series vs. Tampa Bay on Friday as Corey Kluber (17-9) tries to strengthen his case for the Cy Young. Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit Femme. Compared to what hes gone through in recent weeks, that seemed like a breeze. Russell Wilson against Darrelle Revis, former teammate Brandon Browner and whatever schemes Bill Belichick dreams up.Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca. I am sitting here watching the remainder of the Bruins and Habs game. You have said on numerous occasions that referees do not decide games or in this case, series. Was that the case with Game 7? I have many calls that we could discuss but I only want to ask about the one called against Boston with 4:31 left in the game. Did that call not decide the series? That was an interference call, however to be fair, lets sit and review the game. Can you tell me that throughout the game(s) it was fair and the calls were fair? They let so much go and then make calls like snow on the goalies shoulder! When was the last time that was called? Definitely not in a Game 7! Brian Gamley Brian: First, the Montreal Canadiens were the better team on this night and deserved the win and the series. The Bruins were tight and out of sync throughout most of Game 7. If you look at the penalty called by referee Dave Jackson on Johnny Boychuk with 4:31 remaining in regulation time it is fair to determine that by the letter of the law interference was committed once Boychuk built a bridge with his stick and shoved Bournival to the ice shortly after the puck was chipped through the neutral zone. There is also some argument to make that since Bournival did not alter his path to get outside Boychuk, but instead skated a stride or two directly into the Bruins defender that contact was inevitable and no harm, no foul - resulted 130 feet from the Bruins net. Whatever you believe to be most accurate is your prerogative. I want to focus my attention on how this specific call, with the score 2-1 and 4:31 remaining in Game 7, fit into the overall standard that the refs employed throughout the game. When I do that, it is only reasonable to conclude there were too many inconsistencies to deem this a penalty at that particular time in the game. Before I explain why I believe this to be true I want to provide some background on how the officials prepare for a game of this nature and the assignment process. When approaching any playoff game, especially a deciding game or Game 7, it is vital that the officiating crew be well prepared mentally and physically. In this case, that process would actually begin at least a day before the game when the officials left home and travelled to Boston (they might have also anticipated or even been assigned to Game 7 prior to Game 6 being played in Montreal. In any event they would have likely watched that game closely on television). While the officials are responsible for their personal preparation and readiness, the series supervisor (in this case, Kris King) also has some responsibility to get the crew mentally prepared in a meeting he conducts at noon on the day of the game. He, of course, cant work the game for them so his job is more like that of a coach and motivator. Selecting the officials assigned to the game is the direct responsibiliity of Stephen Walkom, V.ddddddddddddP. of Officiating based on his evaluation process and that of his supervisors and Hockey Operations. Referee Dan ORourke has been selected to work the Stanley Cup Final on a couple of occasions. Dave Jackson returned to playoff assignments this season under Stephen Walkom after not participating in the playoffs from 2010-13 under boss Terry Gregson. The first period was crucial for the referees to set an acceptable standard and tone that hopefully the players would respond to and could be consistently applied throughout the game. From almost the opening puck drop key decisions were made on calls and non-calls that made this objective almost impossible to be maintained and achieve success. On the very first shift, Brad Marchand caught Michael Bournival with a high-stick to the head just inside the Montreal blue line that went un-penalized. Marchand then received the first penalty at 6:18 of the game for goalie interference assessed by referee Jackson. On this play, it was Andrei Markov of the Canadiens that cross-checked Marchand in the neck and caused the Bruins player to fall through the crease and contact Carey Price. The first penalty call is often crucial to set the standard and this one clearly sent the wrong message. At approximately 9:48 of the first period, Reilly Smith was given a rough ride with an obvious leg/stick trip takedown in front of the Habs net by Josh Gorges as Price caught on incoming puck. The same referee was once again in good position to see the play but chose not to call this tripping/interference infraction. At the other end of the ice, Zdeno Chara received a holding penalty following a puck battle with Rene Bourque against the boards where some detainment was exerted by Chara and a quick call resulted from Dan ORourke. These decisions set a difficult standard for the referees to maintain as it appeared the game was being worked differently from end of the ice to the other. It only took seven seconds into the second period when Brad Marchand was whistled for stopping hard at the crease and penalized for a snow-shower on Habs goalie Price. These calls are typically something that needs to be addressed early in a series and not in game seven. It would be at this juncture that some "game management" as I described in yesterdays column could be used to the refs advantage. Then at 17:06, David Krejci had his lower glove hand slashed by Lars Eller on the back-check as Krejci was attempting to redirect a centering pass from Torey Krug. Krejci had words with referee Jackson when no call was made. So now we move to the Johnny Boychuk interference penalty that was called with 4:31 remaining in regulation time of Game 7. Given all of the above events, plus the fact that Bournival did not attempt to skate around Boychuk in addition to some embellishment on the play, it would have been the appropriate time for the referee to keep his arm down and allow the play to continue. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

CLEVELAND - The Phoenix Suns pulled off a memorable comeback. For the Cleveland Cavaliers, it was a collapse they wont soon forget. The Suns, who looked as though they were about to get run out of the building, rallied from an 18-point halftime deficit by dominating the final two quarters for a 99-90 win Sunday night. "We were getting embarrassed," said Markieff Morris, who led Phoenix with 27 points. "Everybody knew it. Thats why we said if we were going to lose, we were going to go down fighting." Cleveland coach Mike Brown had a simple assessment of his teams meltdown. "It was hard to watch," he said. "Its disappointing we came out and played that way, and we should all feel embarrassed for the way we played in the second half." The Suns held Cleveland to six points in the third quarter and outscored the Cavaliers 56-29 in the second half. Channing Frye finished with 16 points, including four 3-pointers after halftime, and Goran Dragic scored 15 to help Phoenix rally on the first stop of a four-game road trip. "We were so, so bad in the first half, but at least everyone knew how bad we were," said Suns forward P.J. Tucker, who had 13 points and 10 rebounds. "When we were down, everyone was like, Were good. Thats the kind of faith we have in our team, but we cant keep doing this." The Cavaliers, who led by 20 late in the second quarter, fell to 1-3 on a five-game homestand considered crucial to their chances of staying in the Eastern Conference playoff race. "They outworked us in the second half, simply put," said All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, who led Cleveland with 24 points. Cavaliers centre Anderson Varejao injured his left leg late in the fourth quarter. He was down on the court for several minutes, but remained in the game. Varejao, who has battled injuries the last three seasons, will be checked by the teams medical staff on Monday. "I was worried," Brown said. "His knee was bothering him a little bit. It was tough to see." Phoenix trailed 61-43 at halftime, but hit five 3-pointers in the third quarter. Tucker scored on an offensive rebound with 45 seconds left to put Phoenix ahead 68-67, its first lead since 9-6 just 4 minutes into the game. The Cavaliers were 2 of 22 from the field in the third and set a season low for points in a quarter. Clevelands 29 points after halftime marked a season worst for a half. "I got on their case at halftime because we didnt give effort in the first half," Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said. "It was the defence that did it. We got stops and that started it. Then all of a sudden, the other team was back on their heels." The Suns broke away from a 70-all tie with 11 straight points early in the fourth. Leandro Barbosas free throw put Phoenix ahead for good. Morris scored six points in the run before Barbosas steal and layup made it 81-70 with 8:38 remaining. Irvings two free throws with 2:06 to play cut it to 88-85. The teams traded baskets before Fryes 3-pointer made it 93-87 with 1:14 remaining. Phoenix shot just 39 per cent in the first half, when its starters combined for 24 points. Morris scored 15 off the bench. The Suns came out firing in the third quarter, forcing Cleveland to call timeout twice in the first 5 minutes. Frye hit 3s on three straight possessions, Gerald Green added a 3-pointer and a jumper, and a 3 by Dragic helped cut the lead to 65-61. Phoenix trimmed the lead to two on two occasions. Ish Smiths free throw with 1:13 remaining made it 67-66 before Tucker put the Suns ahead. Cleveland ended the second quarter on a 22-10 run sparked by Luol Dengs 10 points and six by Irving. The Cavaliers led 39-33 with 7:39 remaining in the period when Deng hit two jumpers, a layup and four free throws. He also found Jarrett Jack in the corner for a 3-pointer with a pass from the top of the key. Irving added a pair of jumpers and two foul shots. Irving had 13 points and seven assists in the first half. The third-year guard, elected an All-Star starter for the first time last week, had six assists in the first quarter, including Clevelands first four baskets of the game. Deng had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists in the first half. The Suns opened a road trip in which they will play four games in five nights. Phoenix went 1-4 on a trip earlier this month. NOTES: Suns G Eric Bledsoe (right knee surgery) is travelling with the team, but there remains no timetable for his return to the court. Bledsoe, the teams leading scorer, averaged 18 points in 24 games before undergoing an arthroscopic procedure on Jan. 10. ... Deng had his first double-double for the Cavaliers with 18 points and 10 rebounds. ... Phoenix recalled G Archie Goodwin from his NBA Development League assignment with Bakersfield. ... Cleveland brought back F Sergey Karasev and G Carrick Felix from their D-League assignments with Canton. Homme Nike Air Vapormax Cdg Blanche.Mack, a reserve guard who came in averaging 3.8 points, made all six of his 3-pointers as the Hawks went 16 for 28 from behind the arc.Trailing 50-38 midway through the second quarter, Atlanta outscored Cleveland 89-48 the rest of the way and sent the Cavaliers to their largest loss of the season. Nike Air Vapormax Flyknit Homme Bleu Profond. Carey Price made 27 saves for Montreal (30-21-6) for his fourth shutout of the year and second in four games. David Desharnais added an empty netter for the Canadiens. Reto Berra stopped 25 shots for Calgary (21-28-7). CLEVELAND -- When their turnaround season hit a dead end in October, long after most expected it to stop, the Indians spent a few minutes reflecting on their six-month thrill ride and what might have been. There wouldnt be any more champagne, but there was plenty to celebrate. "We proved a lot of people wrong," first baseman Nick Swisher said. "Still, it hurts." The pain, though, was only temporary. Following a 4-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL wild-card game on Wednesday night, there were few tears as the Indians said goodbye to a year none of them will ever forget. They became a close-knit group, bonding under first-year manager Terry Francona, who not only oversaw a 24-win improvement from 2012, but made them believe anything is possible. "All this team really ever needed was a heartbeat," said 42-year-old designated hitter Jason Giambi, "and we kept it all the way down to the end." In returning to the post-season for the first time since 2007, the Indians rekindled their on-again, off-again relationship with Cleveland fans, who had grown distant and disenchanted in recent years mostly because of the teams inability to re-sign Cy Young winners CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee. But although they may not have shown their support at the box office during the regular season, Indians fans were there when it mattered most. Dressed in red, more than 43,000 of them raged for three hours as they urged the Indians, a team that pulled off 11 walk-off wins and won their last 10 games to make the playoffs, to give them one more magical moment. It wasnt to be. "There wasnt one guy that didnt think we werent winning that game in the bottom of the ninth," said All-Star second baseman Jason Kipnis. "We didnt come up with the big hit." The Indians blew several scoring chances against Tampa Bay starter Alex Cobb., who deserves credit for making pitches when he needed to. But Clevelands failure in the clutch -- one of their strengths during the season -- can at least partially be pinned on Swisher, Kipnis and leadoff hitter Michael Bourn. The trio went a combined 0 for 12 with four strikeouts. Its just one game, but Swishers post-season problems have trailed him from Oakland to Chicago to New York and now to Cleveland. Hes batting .165 in 47 career playoff games. With two runners on in the seventh inning, Swisher, swinging out of his cleats at every pitch to try and hit a game-tying homer, struck out on three pitches from reliever Joel Peralta. The at-bat summed up Swishers night and further exposed one of Clevelands glariing weaknesses, the lack of a big, run-producing bat in the middle of the lineup.dddddddddddd The Indians didnt have a player with 85 RBIs, and one of general manager Chris Antonettis top priorities in the off-season is to find a slugger. That wont be easy, but Antonetti, who has been aggressive in rebuilding the Indians -- with owner Paul Dolans financial backing -- could get creative with trades perhaps involving closer Chris Perez, catcher Carlos Santana or shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera. All three had disappointing 2013 seasons and could be dealt to bolster Clevelands power. Another issue for the Indians to address is their inability to beat quality teams. They were just 14-33 against the playoff teams in both league and 54-17 against teams with under .500 records. "We had a good year, but one thing we did wrong was not play better against teams like the Rays," Bourn said "Thats something well improve on." The starting pitching, a major question mark when the season started, became a strength with Ubaldo Jimenez bouncing back from a 17-loss season to win 13 and lead the Indians staff down the stretch -- 4-0 with a 1.09 ERA in September -- when All-Star Justin Masterson was injured. Jimenez has an $8 million mutual option for next season with a $1 million buyout. If he chooses to venture into free agency, Jimenez could land a monster deal but he appreciated the Indians willingness to stick with him during tough times. "They did everything possible to help me out," he said. "They never gave up on me." Left-hander Scott Kazmir, too, said he would like to return to the Indians, who signed him to a minor league deal in January and got 10 wins on a $1 million investment. Reliever Joe Smith, another possible free agent, has told the Indians he wants to stay. Giambi, who essentially saved the season last week with a pinch-hit, ninth-inning homer to beat Chicago as the Indians were fighting for a wild card, doesnt know what his future holds. Francona has credited Giambi, more than any other player, for Clevelands stunning rebound. Giambi could receive managerial offers after nearly getting Colorados job last year, but he wouldnt mind being a part of this Indians revival. "I had the time of my life, no doubt about it," he said. "Its been fun. Ive enjoyed every minute watching this ballclub grow and being a part of it. We came together. We exceeded everybodys expectations, now guys have a little taste of what its like to go to the playoffs, so hopefully they continue to work hard and keep that push." Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Cranes career as a figure skating judge has spanned over 40 years.TSN Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie, Pierre LeBrun and Darren Dreger gathered for the latest installment of Insider Trading and the topics discussed were the suspensions to Coyotes forward Paul Bissonnette and Leafs forward David Clarkson for leaving the bench to get involved in fights, hybrid icing and players who are and arent making a splash in the pre-season. Does Phoenix Coyotes forward Paul Bissonnette have a valid case for appealing his 10-game suspension for leaving the bench to get involved in a fight? Darren Dreger - He may have a case. Its ultimately going to be determined; was it a legal line change vs. an illegal line change? He received the automatic 10-game suspension because it was viewed to be illegal. There is a process in the new CBA that you have to go through. Gary Bettman is the first rung up the ladder of the appeal process and if he doesnt adjust the total, Bissonnette does have another option where he goes to a neutral decision arbitrator and all of this has to happen in the next handful of days before the beginning of the regular season. Will Leafs forward David Clarkson appeal his suspension for the same infraction? Pierre LeBrun - David Clarkson will not appeal his suspension, telling reporters after Tuesdays game that he has decided not to. That is the only decision to be had. He had zero chance and grounds to change the mind of Gary Bettman or a neutral arbitrator that he didnt deserve 10 games. The evidence is clear cut and it took a while for him to get to that decision over the last couple days but he made the right one. Will hybrid icing be in the NHL this season? Darren Dreger - The good news is the NHL and the NHLPA have agreed on the language for hybrid icing which has been finalized. Keep in mind, the Players Association does have to sign off on this, so between the end of this week and Monday, the PA will conduct a full membership vote to see if they have the approval. The concern is, as the defencemen were getting pasted in the old system, well now maybe its reversed because if the forward gains the edge, he might be in jeopardy but its better than what is already in play. Where are we with the possibility of NHL expansion into Seattle? Darren Dreger - The Commissioners office, Gary Bettman and Bill Daly met with Chris Hansen, who is the projject manager trying to get that new area built in Seattle.dddddddddddd That meeting was on Tuesday and they will continue to monitor, but there is no official push for an expansion any time soon. Who are some players that are and arent making an impression in the NHL pre-season? Bob McKenzie - Dustin Penner is under the gun with the Anaheim Ducks. It would be fair to say they are a little underwhelmed with what he has done so far. They have given him every opportunity to be the left winger on the line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry but he has not taken advantage. In the pre-season game on Tuesday between the Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings, Penner is getting another chance with the big line but the chances might be running out for him if he doesnt step up his game. Bob McKenzie - Tyler Toffoli, who scored some great goals in the playoffs last year and Linden Vey, who was really good with Manchester, they have played well enough to be on the Kings, but they can be sent to the minors without waivers and right now, there is a body crunch and cap crunch with the Kings. They are trying to move either Keaton Ellerby or Jeff Schultz. They have nine NHL defencemen because of a healthy Willie Mitchell and Matt Greene, so some of those deserving players might get sent down. Bob McKenzie - Jake Allen has been the best goaltender bar none, better than Jaroslav Halak and Brian Elliott for the St. Louis Blues but hes quite likely going to get demoted because he can be sent down. Halak and Elliott looks like the one-two punch to start the season for the Blues. Pierre LeBrun - Valeri Nichushkin is a dark horse for the Calder Trophy and he has absolutely dazzled in Dallas with two goals on nine shots in his first pre-season game for the Stars. Sergei Gonchar is from the same hometown in Russia and has been a great influence. He was rated top three by the Stars on their draft list and a lot of people were scared to draft him because of the possibility of playing in the KHL, but they were lucky to get him at number 10. Darren Dreger - Tim Thomas could play for the Florida Panthers as early as Thursday. Hes been really good in training camp. Pierre LeBrun - Jose Theodore has an offer to play in the KHL. He isnt sure hes going to take it at this point but there is interest. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

MACAU, Macau -- Robert Garcia, the trainer of Brandon Rios, said Friday that Manny Pacquiao is showing signs of coming to the end of his career and vulnerable in the WBO welterweight title fight. Pacquiao is coming off two losses and has not fought since his devastating knockout defeat at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez almost a year ago. Garcia said hes noticed subtle signs of decline in the Filipino boxer, once considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. "Everybodys end comes someday and it could be this fight," Garcia said. "He does have a lot to lose in this fight, and thats pressure not only for him but his trainer and everybody in his camp." "There are things Ive seen in his last two fights that maybe a lot of people who havent fought dont see. I went through those things and I already see them ... A lot of fighters go through the same things, they dont even tell their wives, but I can see it in him." Pacquiaos trainer Freddie Roach bristled when told of Garcias comments. There has been no love lost between the two camps since a physical altercation between them in the training gym on Wednesday. "When does he watch my guy? Does he see my guy train every day, does he see the sacrifices my guy goes through, does he see the roadwork we do every day?" Roach said. "If Manny shows any sign of slippage in training camp Id be the first to tell him its time to quit, and its not time yet for sure. I hope they are overconfident because Manny is going to destroy this guy." The undercard for the fight at The Venetian casino in Macau begins Saturday night, followed by the main event about 3 hours later. It begins early Sunday local time. Pacquiaos contentious points loss to Timothy Bradley, followed by his frightening knockout against Marquez had raised questions about whether he could ever get back to his top form, with Garcia among the doubters. "The Manny of three, four years before should have beaten Bradley," Garcia said. "Marquez is 40 years old and Pacquiao was supposed to beat him, to knock him out. Pacquiao got tired and he got knocked out, it wouldnt have happened three or four years ago. He hasnt dropped anybody since 2009." Roach acknowledged Pacquiaos recent failure to knock out opponents -- dating back to his victory over Miguel Cotto in 2009 -- but said the Filipino fighter was eager to do so as way of announcing his return to the peak of the sport. "He could have knocked out a couple of guys since then, but his compassion got in his way," Roach said. "Coming off two losses, he knows he has to be impressive, and being impressive is not winning by close decision, being impressive is winning by knockout. "I dont feel Rios can go the distance with a guy with the talents of Manny Pacquiao. Its a world-class fighter going in against a guy who is a journeyman at best." Mens/Womens Air Max Classic BW Black Grey Shoes.com) - The Chicago Blackhawks take aim at their longest winning streak of the season on Sunday when they host the Calgary Flames in a battle at the United Center. Nike Vapormax Platinum Red. The 25-year McGinn had 19 goals and 19 assists in 79 games last season in helping the Avalanche tie a franchise record with 52 wins.JUPITER, Fla. -- After spending years trying to find a quality shortstop, the St. Louis Cardinals now appear to have an excess. The Cardinals introduced their newest acquisition, Cuban shortstop Aledmys Diaz, on Monday. Within the organization, some have compared him to a young Derek Jeter. "He walks like him you can see some of that there," St. Louis general manager John Mozeliak said. Diaz liked to heard that. "He thinks Derek Jeter is definitely the model ballplayer that everyone should look up to, that he looked up to in the opportunities that he had in Cuba to watch baseball games," said translator Moise Rodriguez, a team employee. "Hes a world-renowned baseball player that comes across as somebody thats a leader and somebody that everybody should try to be like." The Cardinals signed Diaz to a four-year deal over the weekend only months after signing current shortstop Jhonny Peralta, a two-time All-Star, to a free agent contract of the same length. Having Peralta will allow the Cardinals to take their time with the 23-year-old Diaz, who will begin this season in the minor leagues and likely be given a chance to learn multiple infield positions. "We plan on being patient with him," Mozeliak said. "He hasnt played baseball in, really, over a year and a half competitively. Its not something where were looking to have him put his fingerprints on the major league team tomorrow. We can give him time to develop and let him, from a talent standpoint, take his time to get back to where he wwas.dddddddddddd" Diaz defected from Cuba to Mexico in 2012. The Cardinals scouted Diaz in Mexico and worked him out earlier this spring at the Roger Dean Stadium complex. "I thought he did a lot of things well," said St. Louis manager Mike Matheny, who attended the Jupiter workout. "You are just looking at tools at that point. You can see that hes had some repetitions out there. He knows what hes doing. Swinging the bat, the ball jumped off. Just a guy that you could tell hes been around the game a while." Diaz hit .315 with 12 home runs in 270 at-bats during the 2011-12 season in Cuba. Mozeliak expects Diaz to continue to hit for average with gap power as a major leaguer. "Were very confident that he can be an offensive middle infielder, specifically a shortstop," Mozeliak said. Diaz went through practice with his new team before Mondays game against Detroit, but it will be some time before he appears in a major league spring training exhibition. Later this week, he will return to Mexico to finalize his work visa. Until that issue is cleared, Diaz can work out with the big league club but can only play in games on the back fields. "Its always been his dream to try and compete at the highest level in the world," Rodriguez said. "Obviously this represents that. Yeah, there are some challenges and difficulties. But for him, being able to come here and try to compete with the best in the world in the industry is something that hes always looked forward to doing." Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

PHILADELPHIA - A lead scientist studying the brains of deceased athletes with brain trauma has criticized the proposed NFL concussion settlement, because it would not compensate retirees who exhibit mood swings, aggression, depression or other aberrant behaviour.Boston University researcher Robert Stern said that many of the 76 deceased NFL players found to have the brain decay known as CTE would not have qualified for awards had they lived. Some never developed the dementia, Alzheimers and other neurological problems covered in the minimum $765 million settlement.CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, can cause either cognitive or behavioural disorders, or both, according to Sterns research, which includes interviews with the families of 33 deceased athletes. The behavioural and mood problems can include violence, social isolation, drug overdoses and suicide, Stern wrote in a court affidavit this week.Thats what started the whole discussion (of NFL concussions) and its not compensated, Stern told The Associated Press in an interview Tuesday. Repetitive hits to the head do not lead to Alzheimers disease. They lead to CTE, if anything.A federal judge in Philadelphia plans to weigh final objections to the settlement next month. However, the nearly 20,000 retired players eligible must decide whether to opt out by next week.I dont want to play an adversarial role, Stern said. I want a settlement to go through, I just dont want a settlement to go through without people understanding what it truly means. In his affidavit, Stern, of the Boston University Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy, noted that individuals with impaired mood and behaviour can still experience devastating changes in their lives, even without significant cognitive impairment.(They include) ... the inability to maintain employment, homelessness, social isolation, domestic abuse, divorce, substance abuse, excessive gambling, poor financial decision-making, and death from accidental drug overdose or suicide, he wrote. The NFL would pay $765 million under the plan to fund claims over the next 65 years, and more if needed. The individual awards would reach $1 million to $5 million for the most severe neurological problems, such as Lou Gehrigs disease or Parkinsons disease. The average award for moderate dementia or Alzheimers disease is likely to be $190,000.The settlement also provides up to $4 million for CTE-linked deaths through July 7, when Senior U.S. District Judge Anita Brody granted preliminary approval. However, they will not be covered in the future, in part out of concerns about financially-motivated suicides.CTE can only be diagnosed after death at the moment, although Stern expects that to change within five to 10 years. The proposed class-action settlement, which may cost the NFL an additional $112 million in plaintiffs lawyer fees, followed more than a year of negotiations between the NFL and the lead players lawyers.Lead players lawyers Christopher Seeger and Sol Weiss on Wednesday again called the deal an extraordinary settlement for retired NFL players and their families a€” from those who suffer with neurocognitive illnesses today, to those who are currently healthy but fear they may develop symptoms decades into the future.Only nine ex-players have formally opted out of the settlement, signalling they will pursue individual lawsuits against the NFL. Lawyers representing hundreds of others have raised various concerns about the deal a€” especially given the NFLs nearly $10 billion in annual revenues. Some have asked Brody to extend Tuesdays opt-out deadline.Stern attached his concerns to an objection filed this week by seven former players represented by lawyer Stephen Molo.CTE is the industrial disease of football, Molo said, and CTE goes effectively uncompensated in this entire sham of a deal. Puma Fur Slides Pink. Course Record: 59 (Phil Mickelson, 2004). Website: poipubaygolf.com. HISTORY: Built near the site of the ancient Hawaiian village of Kaneiolouma, with remains of Hawaiian heiaus (place of worship), Poipu Bay Golf Course is a wonderfully crafted design by Robert Trent Jones II. Often considered Kauais father of golf, Jones II designed four of the nine venues on the island, with Poipu Bay being his last on the Garden Island. With more than 270 courses in over 40 countries on six continents to his credit, RTJ II boasts more than 100 courses to have hosted tournaments on every major golf tour in the world. It will include the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay (Washington). Poipu Bay features four archaeological sites on the course dating back over 500 years. The first of these special areas is on the ninth hole, which includes a lava rock heiau located to the right side of the fairway. The final three areas where the remnants have been incorporated into the course are on holes 16-18. The 16th features a heiau, just short of the green on the left side, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, while the 17th hole sports another ancient structure next to the elevated tee and a stone wall down the right side of the cart path and through to the 18th tee. When we came upon a heiau, we obviously respected it and went around it, specifically on 16 and 17, Jones said. In some cases, we worked with the historical society and rebuilt part of the heiau wall in the old-fashioned way. It wasnt difficult, it was interesting and it added a cultural story to the course. The layout is built on the south shore on the island of Kauai, on 210 acres of breathtaking land, featuring rocky cliffs 150 feet above the mighty Pacific. Not only does the course possess ancient archaeological significance, it sports beautiful tropical foliage and flora, not to mention its mix of design strategy, making Poipu Bay Golf Course a unique, golfing experience. What started out as a 6,959-yard venue has been stretched to over 7,100 yards with room to grow! The challenge and adventure of Poipu Bay is all about the design. RTJ II used the lay of the land to create a precise layout, not only to challenge the best players in the world, but to make for a most enjoyable visit by the resort golfer. Poipu Bay is on the dry and arid part of the island, and its more exposed to the wind, Jones said. So our challenge at Poipu Bay was to lay it out as a continuous 18 that reaches way out and way back. This is similar to St. Andrews and Pebble Beach, so once you start playing golf, you have to play golf, youre committed. The pillar of our design philosophy is that every project is site specific, Jones added. We listen to the land and work with it to create the best golf design possible on every unique site. As with most courses in Hawaii, the elements can play havoc on your game and Poipu Bay is not without its share of weather, especially when discussing the trade winds, which whip throughout the layout. The course finishes along the coast and we laid it out in that direction, rather than in reverse of that, to take advantage of the prevailing winds finishing, so the winds are at your back, Jones continued. The winds are a form of a hazard, so you can either learn to use it as a player or be abused by it. As a designer, we like you to finish happy, so we wanted you to play downwind. But Jones II did not create just up and back holes. His layout features holes that play with the wind, into the breeze and across, just enough to keep you guessing on each and every shot. The word Poipu literally means crashing waves in Hawaiian and the final four holes run alongside and well above the Pacific Oceans mighty bounty. Just under one mile in length, the closing four holes are without a doubt the signature grouping at Poipu Bay, with the worlds largest water hazard on the left. The 16th is what many consider RTJ IIs autograph. In fact, he considered this gem as the Pebble Beach of the Pacific. It comes as no surprise that Poipu Bay Golf Course has received the accolades and awards that it has, such as one of Golf Digests Americas 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses, and since 2000, Conde Nast Traveler considers the course and the Grand Hyatt Resort as one of the top resorts in the United States. We wanted to distinguish Poipu Bay from the other courses, so the greens are generally smaller and somewhat rounded on the edges, Jones said. Theyre a little like a Donald Ross concept, like an inverted concept and thats pretty tricky in the wind. Its a shorter course and compact and a real golf experience. Its produced a lot of excitement and a lot of history and fun when the Grand Slam was here. After just three years of opening its tee boxes, the powers that be at the Professional Golfers Association of America decided to bring its premier after-season event to Poipu Bay. The PGA of America was certainly pleased, as from 1994 through 2006 Poipu Bay hosted the Grand Slam of Golf, which features the winners of the four majors in that calendar year. The champions during this time frame read like a whos who of World Golf Hall- of-Famers, led by seven-time winner Tiger Woods. In addition, other HOFs who captured the Grand Slam at Poipu Bay were Greg Norman, Ben Crenshaw, Ernie Els and course record-holder Phil Mickelson. Two other winners, Tom Lehman and Jim Furyk, can possibly reach this pinnacle in the near future. When Norman captured the 1994 event, he became the first alternate in the history of the event to win the title. Norman capped off his final round 66 with a 5-foot eagle on the last hole to win by three shots over Nick Price, who had recorded wins that year in the PGA Championship and the British Open. A more dramatic finish came the next season, when Crenshaw holed his 50-yard approach on the last for an eagle to clip Steve Elkington and Corey Pavin by a shot. It should be noted that John Daly also eagled the closing hole by reaching the green in two and making the putt. According to Daly lore, the long-hitting lad from Arkansas leaped over part of the sacred ground (stone wall), but still made eagle. Call it irony or karma, but Daly has not won again on the PGA Tour since. Els set a tournament record in 1997, as he finished the two-day event at 11- under-par 133, besting Woods, then a first-time participant, by three shots. Woods started his streak of five consecutive wins at the Grand Slam of Golf by defeating Vijay Singh 2-up in match play as the PGA of America changed the format. Following another match-play win the following year over Davis Love III, the PGA of America returned the format to stroke play, and Woods edged Singh again, this time in a playoff. Woods made eagle in regulation to force the playoff and then eagled the 18th hole again in the extra session. In 2002, Woods obliterated the field by carding a 36-hole total of 127, which included a final-round 61 for a whopping 14-stroke win over Davis Love III and Justin Leonard. Making his first appearance at the Grand Slam, Furyk cruised to an eight-shot win over Masters champion Mike Weir. Furyk, who captured his only major at the U.S. Open in 2003, had 11 birdies in the two-day event and needed just 55 putts. Playing in the event for the first time, Mickelson made history when he carded a course-record 59 to win by five shots over three-time runner-up Singh in 2004. Mickelson played flawless golf during his record run, as he tied Woods for the lowest 36-hole total in event history. In his round, he made 11 birdies and an eagle and needed only 24 putts. The round could have been better if he had only made a 9-foot eagle putt on the last! Woods returned to Poipu Bay for the final two seasons of this event in Hawaii and did not disappoint, as he captured the 2005 and 06 events. In all, Woods recorded seven wins and one runner-up finish in his eight appearances at Poipu Bay. Over the years, Woods recorded 87 birdies and eight eagles for a scoring average of 66.75 and earnings of $3.15 million. Its hard to argue with success and Woods certainly has had his share. This facility here, the Hyatt, is absolutely fantastic, all of the amenities that they have. Its a pretty great place, said Woods. In 2010, Poipu Bay underwent a facelift of sorts, as the greens were transformed from traditional Bermuda to the eco-friendly Seashore Paspalum. In addition, several of the bunkers and tee boxes were upgraded. The main thing we changed were the greens, said Chad Dusenberry, head golf professional at Poipu Bay. Initially we had Tid Dwarf Bermuda, which wasnt a consistent putting surface for the weather that we have. After researching to find the best product to fit our conditions that we have, such as ocean breeze, we settled on Seashore Paspalum. We were looking for more consistency, quality and something we could speed up more, so that in the future we might be able to host another event here. HOLE-BY-HOLE REVIEW: The opener is a pretty straightforward hole, playing uphill from tee to green. Bunkers guard both sides of the landing area off the tee, but with the trade winds at your back, a solid tee ball will certainly avoid the trouble. A medium to short iron should remain to a fairly large putting surface that slopes toward the front and to the right. Stay below the hole, avoid the bunker on the left and youll get off to a good start. The second is a boomerang par-5 that stretches 524 yards from the back markers. Playing uphill from the tee to the fairway, the key here is to avoid the bunker down the right side of the landing area. Cut the corner if you dare, but missing the short grass might eliminate your shot at getting home in two. If youre forced to lay up, this shouldnt be a problem, as long as you stay left of the grouping of bunkers down the right. With a wedge in hand, the player should be able to stick one close to the flag and set up a great chance at birdie. Although the yardage does not suggest that the third hole will be the longest of the par-3s, trust me, it is, as it plays directly into the wind. The trouble here is pin placement and club selection. The green wraps around a deep bunker on the right side of the putting surface, so when the flag is tucked, stay away and play toward the center. A gentle, left-to-right shot, riding the breeze is the play here. This is not the time to be heroic. Make your par and move on. The fourth hole is an average par-4 of just 380 yards in length. Simple, right? Not so fast. At first blush, it might appear to be a real birdie chance, but with the elements in your face and a cross-bunker staring at you, youd better be careful. With a successfull tee shot, youll have a medium iron remaining and dont forget to take enough club, as sand short of the green is not the place to be.dddddddddddd The green is fairly simple, but if you miss right, youll finish in a tightly mown chipping area. The shortest par-4 on the course, the fifth is just 355 yards in length, but it requires pinpoint accuracy off the tee as fairway bunkers tighten the landing area. Missing the fairway will most likely end in bogey, but a quality tee ball can produce a birdie. From the shortest to the longest, as the Z-shaped sixth is a monster par-5 of 573 yards from the gold markers. One large fairway bunker guards the right corner of the first dogleg. Usually downwind, this hole can be had despite its length. A successful tee ball can set up a shot at the green in two, but a more sensible effort would be to lay up just past the bunkers on either side of the landing area, thus setting up a simple run to the pin. Your hardest choice will be what club to play to the putting surface, as this is one of the longest on the course with a huge slope splitting the green. Place your approach in the proper spot and youll have a great shot at birdie. One of the prettiest holes on the course, No. 7, is also the shortest of the par-3s at 179 yards. Club selection is critical in more ways than one, as a large pond protects the entire right side of the hole and with a back-right pin placement, youll need to be spot on, otherwise a double-bogey or worse might mess up your scorecard. I know first hand of this! A critical juncture of the golf course, the eighth, although short, is generally played back into the breeze, making this one of the more difficult par-4s. Two fairway bunkers squeeze the landing area off the tee and with the wind in your face, it would be best to avoid them at all costs. Your slightly uphill approach gets even more difficult with the fact that the putting surface is guarded by a dozen bunkers and is the smallest green at Poipu Bay. Lets not forget the undulating and tiered surface and you have one diabolical hole. The closing hole on the outward nine is rated as the most difficult on the course. A par-4 reaching 420 yards from the tips, this bad boy is also the first hole on the course to feature historical sites dating back over 500 years. Playing back into the trade winds, the ninth requires an accurate tee shot, as the bunkers lining the undulating landing area, crimp the fairway to just 24 yards. From here its a guessing game, as your approach plays uphill to an elevated green, so take an extra stick. To top it off, the first rock heiau (ancient worship site) is located on the right side of the hole and is a culturally sensitive area, where players are not allowed to enter or play from. The back nine opens with the fourth-most difficult hole on the course. A long, 429-yard par-4, the 10th features fairway bunkering that narrows the landing area, so much so that many players will use 3-metal off the tee for accuracy. Now youre faced with a 200-yard approach to a very tight putting surface, guarded by deep bunkers. Miss right of the green and youll be faced with a difficult up-and-down from a tight chipping area. Number 11 is a slightly downhill par-3, just under 200 yards in length. A pond guards most of the green, from the center to right, while a pair of bunkers protect the left. The winds generally blow left to right, so play out to the left for your best chance at par, especially when the pin is tucked to the right behind the pond. Any shot long will end up in a deep, chipping area, so your best play is middle of the green. Playing away from the ocean and toward the mountains, the 12th is a straightaway par-4 that reaches 435 yards in length. The large fairway bunker on the left side of the landing area off the tee pinches the short grass and must be avoided. Your approach to the green will be uphill and into the breeze, so choose the right club to bypass the bunker that fronts the putting surface. The green itself runs from front to back and is quite narrow, which will test your skill level. Missing the putting surface might result in bogey, as several bunkers lay in wait. This hole concludes a stretch of five holes that rank in the top 10 of most difficult on the course. If there ever was a chance to get a stroke back, the 13th is certainly that chance. The final of four par-4s under 400 yards, No. 13 can be had, especially with a good tee shot. Playing back toward the water, the trade winds will once again blow from left to right, so avoiding the bunker left and the trees right will be important to your success. The difficulty will be with your approach. Although youll have a short iron, the tiered putting surface is protected on the left by sand and the right by another pond. Another back- right pin can spell doom, especially since the water wraps around the green, so be careful not to go long. Half of the green is encased beautifully by a surrounding rock wall, from the front-center to behind the green. Adjusting your ball flight will serve you well. The final stretch of holes, starting with the 14th at Poipu Bay, are as rock- solid and as exciting as many of the courses in Hawaii. This par-5 is only 537 yards long, but plays longer than all of the three-shotters due to the uphill climb from tee to green and the fact that the wind blows against you. The landing area is one of the largest on the course, so let it fly off the tee. Your second shot, most definitely a layup, must avoid the long fairway bunker that stands right-center of the landing area. With a short iron in hand, your approach, again uphill, must be struck with precision, as the green is long with plenty of undulations. The 15th is a dynamic par-4 of just 427 yards. Dynamic because of the huge water hazard to your left, the Pacific Ocean. From an elevated tee, this hole plays down breeze and does not play as long as the yardage indicates. It does, however, require an accurate tee shot, as three fairway bunkers down the right, tighten the landing zone. A successful tee ball with leave a short iron to a green that features a bunker on either side and a severe slope on the left. Dont be cute, play toward the center of the putting surface and trust your putter. The final four holes play atop a 150-foot cliff overlooking the ocean. Many believe the 16th is the signature hole at Poipu Bay, and with good reason. Stretching 501 yards from the back markers, this par-4 is as difficult as it is breathtaking. Again with the Pacific down the left, your tee ball must favor the right side, avoiding the fairway bunker. Although this hole also plays down wind and slightly downhill, it will plays almost as long as its yardage. Called the Pebble Beach of the Pacific, by Jones II, since it hugs the coast and bends to the left, similar to its counterpart in California. Number 16 stifles the best of players, especially with your approach, which is played uphill from the fairway. With the ocean crashing down below and an ancient rock wall squeezing the fairway by the green, your target looks as small as a thimble. Toss in a back-left pin placement and youll be begging for bogey. At 225 yards, the final par-3 on the course - the 17th - is outstanding and difficult, to say the least. Although downhill and down breeze, youll need a long iron or fairway metal to reach the putting surface. Be careful to avoid the heiau to the right of the green and, of course, the bunkers guarding the left and right portions of the putting surface. Take time to take a look back from behind the green at the wonder of the Pacific Ocean. Trust me, its worth it. From the back tee, the closing hole plays like a dogleg right, as it bends around a stand of trees. Although it has been reached in two, No. 18 is really a three-shot, par-5 of 550 yards in length. Although the tee shot is important, it is the second shot thats crucial, as it must play short of the pond fronting the green and the bunker to the right. Roughly 100 yards will remain to a putting surface that runs from middle to back, so land soft to set up a birdie chance. If you played your cards right, you will be rewarded. FINAL WORD: Poipu Bay Golf Course is another Robert Trent Jones II classic on the island of Kauai, complete with rolling terrain, awesome elevation changes, dramatic views of the Pacific (as much of the golf course sits almost 90 feet above the ocean and 150 feet in some places), several water holes, over 85 bunkers and, yes ... the elements. The trade winds blow on an average of 15-20 miles per hour each and every day, making Poipu Bay quite a challenge. Jones laid the golf course out so that the wind direction is diverse throughout the layout. In doing so, Jones made club selection and strategy crucial in playing the course. As if you didnt have enough problems to worry about! The average player should not be overly concerned, however, as Poipu Bay is for all levels of golf. The playability, depending upon what skill level you are, and the different tees, makes it enjoyable for all different player types, Dusenberry said. From the high handicapper to the low handicapper, depending upon what tee boxes you play, it will provide a challenge. There are not a lot of forced carries, and you can miss it left and right and still keep your golf ball in play. Poipu Bay is a great mix of holes, such as three par-3s over water, with the quartet of one-shotters ranging from 179 to 225 yards. There are four par-4s under 400 yards in length, five over 420 yards and one over 500. Finally, the spectacular par-5s are all laid out in different directions, presenting their own set of problems. Our philosophy also calls for the creation of courses that combine playability for the average golfer with sufficient difficulty from championship tees to challenge the worlds best players, Jones said. Providing alternative lines of play adds another crucial strategic component to our courses. Although not as flamboyant as The Prince Course on the north shore, Poipu Bay is itself quite unique, with its several archaeological sites that boast Heiaus and ancient stone walls. The one aspect of the course that really stands out is the natural beauty of the layout. The conditioning of the layout is top notch and the flora and fauna throughout the course are stunning. From tropical flowers, such as the beautiful pink blossoms by the 18th green or the thick vegetation and timeless palms scattered throughout, make Poipu Bay a visual delight. As mentioned before, the fact this course is playable for all levels makes it a favorite amongst the locals and, of course, the resort guests. The forward tees are 5,372 yards in length and are followed up by the white markers (6,127 yards), the blue (6,612 yards) and finally, the gold tees at 7,123 yards. The inexperienced player, not to mention the medium handicap player, will enjoy the course, while the best of players will be extremely tested on a course that at times plays as difficult as any. Youll be forced to play shots that you normally dont on the mainland, such as knock-down shots with a 6- iron from 150 yards away or putting from 10 yards off the green. So pick a spot or mix and match and youll have the time of your life. The fairways are generous, the greens are undulating and slick and the course as a whole is a top-caliber venue that will bring you back, time and time again. Hey, if the golf doesnt bring you back, then the dramatic views of the Pacific Ocean, the waves crashing down below, the seals sunbathing and the surfers hanging loose will. Did I forget to mention the 21,000 square foot clubhouse, with a fully stocked pro shop, complete locker room facilities, a restaurant and a lounge. To top it off, the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is just a short walk from the first tee, so take advantage of this beautiful resort and its 602 luxurious rooms. As with all the courses on Kauai, Poipu Bay is a must play and should be on everyones proverbial bucket list. It was an unusual feeling watching an NFL game from London, England here in the Eastern time zone. I know on the West coast its normal but on the East coast, I kept losing track of time thinking it was 3:30pm, not 12:30pm. It does seem like an NFL team in London is inevitable. When you look around Wembley Stadium, it is truly sold out and many NFL teams do presently have attendance problems. You add in television revenue and all marketing revenue possibilities and it is going to happen. As awkward as it was to be watching a live game at 9:30am in a good way, it was also awkward the way the Lions won the game with a missed field goal attempt and then a second chance due to a time count violation. Something is wrong with the way it happened. In New York, the Bills won 43-23 and I was surprised because I thought the Jets took a step forward after the New England game. What to do about Geno Smith is a problem question. Bill Polian had the logical and relevant comment that the Bills sat EJ Manuel and the Bills benefited with Kyle Orton. Can Michael Vick do what Kyle Orton did asap? He did play at a higher level than Smith but still gave the ball away three times. And trying to win in Kansas City next week is going to be a major challenge. In Tennessee, the Texans had the easiest win of the week (30-16) and Arian Foster had 151 yards on only 20 carries. DeMarco Murray is the number 1 running back of popularity across the NFL but Foster is quietly having a great year. For both players, all they have to do is stay healthy and hungry and the success will continue. Congratulations to Luke Willson of the Seattle Seahawks and his 23-yard touchdown reception to help win the game with 47 seconds left. There are a number of very good Canadian players in the NFL and Willson now is getting an opportunity and making the most of it. Having met him at the last Super Bowl in New York City, he is a good person and player. Well done, Luke. In New England, the win over Chicago was impressive with 32 first downs, almost 500 yards in offence and punting only once. It sets up the Broncos-Patriots game with the Broncos coming off two impressive games over San Diego and San Francisco. For both teams, perspective is needed. With New England, after struggling to beat the Jets, the win over the Bears was over a team that has dramatically regressed in a short period of time. And the Broncos played Charger and 49er teams that each were missing as many as five starters. That does not take away from this next game, its just that its not always who you play, it is when you play them and the circumstances involved. In Arizona, I was more impressed with the Eagles than the Cardinals for 521 reasons, as that is the number of yards the Eagles produced on a good Cardinals defence. The eagles are a speed and finesse team and when they play Dallas, it will determine the NFC East as they are a power and physical team. The dates coming up November 27th in Dallas (Thanksgiving) and December 14 th in Philadelphia. And finally, Monday night Football, Washington at Dallas. The fFirst half was impressive for Washington and you cant help but wonder if Robert Griffin III was at quarterback, the halftime score would have been more than 10-7. Brandon Merriwether was an impact player in the first quarter for the Redskins defense and 3rd down defence was excellent for the Redskins in the second quarter. The opening drive of the second half was also impressive with Alfred Morris key on an eight-play, 80 yard drive that took five minutes off the clock . For Dallas, two fumbles and two key inaccurate passes from Tony Romo killed drives and eliminated points. After the Redskins took a 10 to 7 lead, Dallas opening possession of the 3rd quarter was game-changing. Surprisingly, Dallas had trouble picking up the Washington blitzes on 3rd down and on that drive, Romo took an awkward hit directly on the back on 3rd down. Off he goes to the locker room for precaution and in comes Brandon Weedon. One handoff to DeMarco Murray and everything changed for Dallas again. Both of the Redskins young cornerbacks are playing very well, stopping Dez Bryant on back-to-back pass plays of four yards. Good blitzes and good cornerbacks for the Washington Redskins. So Brandon Weedon comes back and hits Jason Witten for a touchdown and then the pressure shifts back to Colt McCoy. But he takes a critical sack and Dallas gets the final chance to win. And back in comes Romo, trying for his 27th game-winning drive but he cant get it done. To overtime we go. Washington wins the toss and McCoy takes them to a three-point lead and Dallas cant convert on a 4th down. It was an excellent performance by McCoy and the two young corners of Washington. Jordan 4 Retro Scarpe Uomo Oregon Ducks Scarpe Grigio/Nere/Giada Verde. The Barclays Premier League season is officially halfway through. No exaggeration, the season has been great thus far. A more unpredictable Premier League is better viewing. Competition at the top and bottom of the table remains fierce and ever-changing. League leaders Arsenal are on pace for 84 points. Fewer than 84 points has only won the league once in the last decade. The word parity is thrown around, and its not entirely accurate. Top teams are beginning to hit their stride, although every team continues to show flaws, making for a topsy-turvy table. There has been no shortage of talking points through 19 games. Before we get to our mid-season awards, lets go all High Fidelity. Here are the top five storylines at the halfway mark. 5) Methodical Mourinho: You love to love him and love to hate him. Its all more compelling with Jose Mourinho in the Premier League. Inspiring, entertaining football however from has been few and far between from his Chelsea team. Mourinho is Exhibit A in over-managing. His meticulous approach leads to a dull end product more times than not. Chelsea has been clinically stifling at times against top competition, in particular stuffing out matches against Arsenal and Manchester United. Free flowing football has been sacrificed to climb the table. Although its surprising a team with the financial wherewithal and talent of Chelsea need to resort to such mind-numbing tactics at times, Mourinho understands its what needs to be done until he can get his players at the club. Its been a Masterclass job thus far; Mourinhos teams are among the most consistent and competitive week to week. While team performance has been predictable, the notable persona of the Portuguese has not. Mourinho 2.0 has overall been more subdued than his previous tenure. The trademark arrogance and gamesmanship however remain omnipresent. Mourinhos leap into the Stamford Bridge crowd, sitting amongst the supporters after being sent to the stands, and interrupting post-match interviews are few examples the Mourinho of yester year is not far from the surface. As Chelsea close in on the top of the table, Chelseas tactics will become more dry and Mourinhos personality more rebellious. We all win with the latter. 4) Managerial Merry-go-round: Five managers were fired in the 2012/13 season. There have been six casualties already this campaign. Paolo Di Canio (Sunderand), Ian Holloway (Crystal Palace), Martin Jol (Fulham), Steve Clarke (West Brom), Andre Villas-Boas (Tottenham), and Malky Mackay (Cardiff City) are all no longer with their respective sides. The biggest shock has to be AVB. The young Portuguese is now a two-time Premier League failure. Its a massive let-down for a perceived tactically superior young mind in the game not being able to relate with the modern player, isolating individuals within the team and not getting the most out of the players at his disposal. Losing Gareth Bale was a blow for Spurs. But the finances spent and the talent on hand is capable of much more. AVB as a man manager will rightfully be questioned in his next gig. The unlucky loser of the unemployed bunch is Mackay. Playing a public chess match with tumultuous Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan was never going to be a battle won. When an owner operates on an island without rhyme and reason, the environment becomes poisoned and stability goes out the window. Mackay leaves with his head held high, despite his big money swing and a miss of striker Andreas Cornelius. Di Canio gets the nod for most warranted sacking. Who in their right mind would think 11 new players; most of marginal talent, at the Stadium of Light would be a recipe for success? And the audacity to stand before the travelling Sunderland supporters after a 3-0 loss at the Hawthorns provided pictures that will go down in infamy. 3) Golden Gunners: Arsene Wengers demise was widely predicted after a 3-1 home loss to Aston Villa to start the season. After the opening day loss, Arsenal reeled off a streak of 12 straight undefeated in all competitions, signed Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, and brought Mathieu Flamini back to the Emirates. Meanwhile, talent became realized for Welshman Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud showed his worth as a Premier League talisman and a resurgent backline has developed into one of, if not, the best defensive unit in the league. So much for Wenger losing the plot. Arsenal sits atop the table and on top form despite losing Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as long-term absentees. You know things are rolling when goalkeeping is even top notch at the Emirates. The coming of age of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has provided much needed stability. Is this Arsenal team good enough to be Champions? The starting XI is virtually set. January depth moves can be made up front and at the back. But it will inevitably be up to the current crop. They are a strong group. But are they capable of taking their game to the next level? 2) Sizzling Suarez: Its incredible what can change in a matter of four months. Luis Suarez has gone from a biting, erratic misfit to the most consistent performer and producer in the league. Suarez has more goals than seven Premier League teams, and his 19 are equal to the tally of Fulham. And all this has all come in just 14 games. Incredible. The Uruguayan also has five assists, making it sound bizarre to suggest his stats alone doesnt tell the entire story. He is a true game-breaker in a time where players of that dimension are rare. A constant threat, remarkable touch on the ball and extraordinary movement off it, Suarez has evolved into one of the worlds best. Liverpool has broken the bank to sign Suarez to a new mega contract. Ironically enough, it may be his own influence that determines whether he actually sees that contract out on the Merseyside. Its Champions League or bust. Suarez is key. 1) The noise about Moyes: Its the most talked about story and will continue to be. The start of the David Moyes era at Old Trafford has been shaky at best. But there are signs the team is turning the corner. While still lacking true top end talents en masse, the team as unit is playing much better football. Unfair to Moyes, a transition period within the team hit at the same time as the managerial change. This is no fault of Moyes. And to suggest it could all be remedied in his first transfer window was naïve. That doesnt excuse his panic purchase of Marouane Fellaini or the all too cautious approach in team selection/tactics to open the season. Manchester United is in the midst of a squad evolution. The process will continue in January. The knee-jerk, have-it-now nature of sport demands swift change. Moyes will get blamed or praised for whatever happens in the transfer windows. But this is more of a test to the Glazer ownership. Sponsorship acquisition has come fast and furious. The player side continues to lag behind, not moving in accordance with the clubs commercial growth. In the meantime, United on the field will have to continue to be their scrappy best. Theres something truly likeable about an underdog United team. Its been years since theyve been in such a role. Champions League qualification and lengthy runs in Cup competitions would be seen as a successful year. Next year, the stakes will be much higher. Mid-season Awards Top Player: Suarez (Liverpool) – Honourable mentions to Sergio Aguero, Aaron Ramsey and Wayne Rooney. But Suarez is the clear choice. Manager: Brendan Rodgers (Liverpool) – Year number two at Liverpool has exceeded expectations. The manager bemoans his lack of squad depth, and rightfully so. Yet his team, no matter the change in formation or personnel has managed to play an increasing prominent passing game with the ability to adapt in shape and approach appropriately to the occasion. The man deserves a lot of credit. Belief is back at Anfield. Best Goal: Pajtim Kasami (Fulham) vs. Crystal Palace – An ultimate team goal by Arsenal and Jack Wilshere was trumped later the same weekend by an all-time strike from Kasami. A run on full trot from the middle of the park, controlling with the chest and volley top corner on the run from a ridiculous angle at the top corner of the box wins it. Hands down. End of story. Memorable Moment: Asmir Begovic (Stoke City) goal vs. Southampton – It took just 12 seconds for the goalkeeper to score the shock goal of the season. The story goes it was a windy day, Begovic launched the ball from inside his own box, the ball landed between two Southampton centre-backs, Artur Boruc misjudged the big bounce and embarrassment ensued. Perhaps the most shocking variable was the goal made Begovic joint top goal scorer for Stoke at that time on the season. And the goal was scored in November, Surprise player: Seamus Coleman (Everton) – Roberto Martinez has struck gold with the Irish right back. His defensive play has been standout for one of the most dependable backlines in the league. Coleman has added five goals to his account. Thats more goals than he has scored in his Premier League career, one more than Christian Benteke and just one less than all of Chelseas strikers have scored combined. Surprise team: Hull City – many, including myself pegged the Tigers to go straight back to the League Championship. Instead, Hull sits 10th at the halfway point. They have beat Liverpool and Newcastle, were robbed against Spurs, and gave the two Manchester clubs a scare. This has all come from a team without top talent, a manager with a track record of Premier League failure, and a team garnering more attention for a potential name change than anything on the field. This is the feel good story of the league. Team Performance: Manchester City vs. Manchester United – Its one thing to win by a converted touchdown over Norwich City. Its another thing to run your neighbours and reigning Champions off the field in extraordinary fashion. The 4-1 final flattered United. It was truly a performance for the ages. Worst Owner: Vincent Tan (Cardiff City) – Mike Ashley is dethroned by a man who 1) changed the teams historic colours to the chagrin of club supporters, 2) fired his chief scout and hired his sons unqualified friend, 3) fired the popular coach, 4) has thrown the clubs reputation into disrepute. Not bad work for just four months. Well see how much further he goes, and how much higher his pants get in the New Year. Best XI: De GeaColeman-Jagielka-Mertesacker-SantonRamsey-Toure-HazardRooney-Suarez-Aguero Herre Nike Air Max 2017 KPU Sort/Sølv. DeMar DeRozan, a 20-year-old rookie at the time, remembers it well. "I was here when Chris Bosh was the last guy to go," said DeRozan, now 24 in his fifth NBA season, less than two hours after receiving the news. A first-time All-Star, DeRozan got the nod Thursday evening when the NBA named the Raptors guard to the Eastern Conference squad as a reserve. "I work extremely hard every off-season to try and be the best player that I can be," he said proudly. "Just to be a part of All-Star Weekend is something you dream of. I remember being a kid watching All-Star Weekend and wishing to be a part of it. To see your dreams come true definitely means a lot." DeRozan, the fourth ever Raptor selected to the midseason showcase, which will take place in New Orleans on Feb. 16, was hardly surprised to find out his selection had been made official. He had expected it. The texts from family and friends started to come in as the Raptors plane landed in Denver, shortly after the announcement had been made live on TNT. Houston Rockets All-Star guard James Harden called to congratulate him, John Wall of the Washington Wizards, also an Eastern reserve, sent a text. The first call he made was to his fiancé and his infant daughter back in Toronto. "That was cool," he said of what had to be a special moment. Its a moment, an achievement that didnt come overnight. Hes put in the work and his growth as a player, a leader and as a man reflects that. "Hes worked at it [and] he deserves it," said Dwane Casey, who has coached DeRozan in three of his five seasons. "Every year Ive been here he has improved. He has brought something new back after every summer. Im so happy and proud of him as a young man watching him grow." DeRozan, the ninth overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft, is 11th in the league in scoring, fourth in the East, and averaging career highs in points (21., rebounds (4.7) and assists (3.6). The Raptors iron man has missed the clubs previous two games with an ankle injury, but hes still only missed 10 contests in his career, with two full seasons under his belt. Since the trade of Rudy Gay, DeRozan has blossomed in his new role. DeRozan has recorded five or more assists in 12 of the 43 contests hes appeared in this season. He accomplished that feat 12 times all of last year and five times total in his first three seasons combined. He has already grabbed five or more rebounds 23 times this season, something he did in 19 games during the 2012-13 campaign. "Im so happy for him, man," said snubbed teammate Kyle Lowry. "It just shows the hard work that hes put in. Its great for our team, its great for the organization, its great for the city, its great for the country." Of course, the news wasnt entirely positive. Lowry, in the middle of a career season, was left off the All-Star rostter.dddddddddddd The 27-year-old point guard - widely considered to be the most notable name missing from the East team - stood in the lobby of the Raptors Denver hotel, looking ahead to his mid-Febrary vacation. He too was not surprised by the result of the voting and if he was disappointed by it, he didnt show it. "Im alright," said Lowry, averaging career-highs in points (16., assists (7.6) and three-point shooting (41 per cent) this season. "Ill be on a beach somewhere hanging out. Ill watch the All-Star game and cheer for (DeRozan)." Lowry is coming off of back-to-back 30-plus point games for the first time in his eight-year career, however both performances came after the coaches submitted their ballots for All-Star reserves on Sunday. Casey has spent the better part of the last month campaigning for both of his guards, hoping to get both voted in, but expecting to only get the one. Why was Lowry left out? Politics, most likely. He and DeRozan may have split votes from coaches who were only willing to vote for one Raptor. Coaches trying to get their own guy in - unable to vote for their own players, by rule - may have thrown their votes to others, less likely to make it. Then theres Lowrys reputation for being, well, prickly on occasion. However, the numbers speak for themselves, or at least they should have. Lowry leads the East in assists in January, averaging 8.3. Hes also hit more threes this month (49) than any player in the league, shooting them at a 46 per cent clip. Hes among the league-best in assist-to-turnover ratio and he has the second highest PER (player efficiency rating) of any guard in the conference. "I am disappointed for Kyle because he is playing like an All-Star," Casey said. "He is one of the best point guards in the league right now and hopefully this doesnt deter him from his continuing his journey to being the best in the league and proving people wrong." Instead, the Nets Joe Johnson made the cut. Johnson is averaging 15.7 points, his lowest mark since 2002-03, his second season in the league. Hes only the second All-Star voted in by the coaches with a below-average PER since 2003. "Im going to keep grinding no matter what, All-Star or not," Lowry said. "Im always going to work hard and continue to be the best player I can be to help my team win." "Honestly I didnt even worry about it," he continued. "We didnt get two, doesnt matter, we got one and thats a big statement for our team. [DeRozans] going to represent our team and hes going to represent us well." DeRozan joins Johnson, Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat, Wall, the Indiana Pacers Roy Hibbert, Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks Paul Millsap on the East squad, along with starters LeBron James and Dwyane Wade of the Heat, Indianas Paul George, Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks and the Cleveland Cavaliers Kyrie Irving. Wholesale Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Authentic Jerseys From China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Day 11 in 100 words or less We must remember that people are seeing a World Cup for the first time, just dont tell them it isnt always like this. Many of those eyes are in the United States of America, a country that the sport has wanted on its side for some time. On Sunday the football Gods delivered once again, only this time it was time for good old USA to experience as much heartache as joy. Portugal 2-2 USA Football is a funny old game. Last week the USA struggled to keep the ball, were not at their best, and still won. This time they treasured the ball far better, were absolutely outstanding, and didnt win. This World Cup has been an absolute blockbuster and some of its main characters have been counter-attacks, comebacks, headers, and substitute goals. All four starred together in an incredible last scene in Manaus. Portugal were on the ground, seemingly knocked out in Brazil, flat out on their back with the referee standing over them about to wave his arms and end their misery. They knew they were out of the fight. Angry, petulant, disappointed they were a wounded bunch. Then, like a boxer swinging one last right hook at an opponent just for the sake of it, they delivered a stunning final moment to another monumental match in Brazil. The clock read 94:25. Michael Bradley picks up the ball and has no outlets to pass the ball to. Eder, the Portugal striker who came on early in the first half finally did something valuable by making a crucial tackle. 94:28 - Nani counters with pace, looks up and sees Cristiano Ronaldo on the right side. It was the first time the talisman was in that zone where he could put a pass in. (stats powered by Opta) 94:31 - Ronaldo had just enough time to take one touch, look down at the ball, look up and deliver an absolutely incredible cross. 94:33 - Silvestre Varela then runs into the box and delivers a powerful header into the mix. The USA victory and place in the last 16? Gone in eight seconds. It was a fitting dramatic finale to an enthralling game in the Amazon. It will be remembered for the final scoreline, the Ronaldo pass, and the USA comeback, but we shouldnt forget about the tempo. The game was stretched throughout, played at an incredible pace in exhausting conditions. Watching it we learned many things. We learned that Portugal have very little depth. Anyone who has followed this small, yet proud football nation would tell you they already knew that but this exposed it even deeper. Anyone who criticizes Ronaldos performance would be best served to look at what he had to work with. They lost Helder Postiga early, threw on Eder and effectively played with 10 men for the second successive match. The sight of the worlds finest player having to play up front in the second half and get absolutely no service was an all too familiar one. A sad tale of what could have been. Nani scored a goal but was very disappointing the rest of the way, giving the ball away far too much. Joao Moutinho is a special player but his sparring partners, Miguel Veloso and Raul Meireles are not at the form of Euro 2012. Theyve been hammered by injuries, admittedly, but this was one of the worst showings by a Portugal team in two decades. Last week they could blame Pepe and a brilliant German attack. On Sunday their excuses ran out and they will likely fly home on Friday as another European team humbled in Brazil. Jurgen Klinsmanns team were by far the better side and will be happy to be on four points through two games but it is far from job done. Indeed, it could turn out to be what might have been. Sure, Jurgens new mates and old mates can kick a ball around for 90 minutes in Recife on Thursday and both go through but anyone who thinks Germany would agree to that are kidding themselves. Germany are in Brazil to win the World Cup, not risk playing a close game with an inferior country, where a bad bounce or poor decision could end up costing them the chance to progress or, even, win the group. If the game is even as it enters the final 25 minutes I could see the two teams defending deep and giving up very little but until then I expect Germany to use the game as an opportunity to get back the tempo and attacking guile that was missing against Ghana. Belgium 1-0 Russia The 2014 World Cup has been billed by some as the greatest ever but then Fabio Capello arrived in a time machine from 2010 to remind us just how easy a game can be killed off. It almost worked. To be fair, the dullest game of the tournament so far was not all Russias doing. An average Belgium defended deep and rarely got playmaker Eden Hazard into the game, looking to settle for a point they know would have helped them win the group. The schedule makers also played a small part in the snoozefest. Every team in this World Cup, Mexico vs Brazil aside, had four or five games off in between group games but all the teams who played on Sunday play again on Thursday, giving them just three days off before a crucial group finale. Thankfully, Belgium decided to find some extra gears in the last ten minutes and for the second successive match their changes made a difference. Substitute Kevin Mirallas got the best out of Hazard and the two combined on the goal, scored by another sub, 19-year-old striker Divock Origi. The extra gear found by Belgium showed, again, they can reach another level when required and also left Russia embarrassed that they couldnt. Russia were organized and clearly had a game plan that almost worked and it is hard to be too critical of that based on that game but the bigger question mark over this teams methods is do they have it in them at all to play a more open, expansive style that will be needed against Algeria to progress? This World Cup has made a mockery of players and coaches who have tried to play like it was 2010. Capello gets one last shot to prove otherwise, against Algeria. How did that work out for him in 2010? South Korea 2-4 Algeria Missed by many, this was a fantastic game. Algeria are a real threat to Russia. They are strong in attack, have a fine, technical leader in Sofiane Feghouli who can glide by midfielders and can score. Admittedly, South Koreas defending in the first half was woeful but Vahid Halilhodzics side deserve tremendous credit for sensing their opportunity to finish the game off early. It has been a good couple of days for African football. Man of the day Nominees.... Vincent Kompany - on a day where most of his teammates were average, the Manchester City skipper was fantastic in the middle of the Belgian defence. Islam Slimani - he got his first start at the World Cup and it wont be his last after he tormented the South Korean backline. Clint Dempsey - talk about a big game player. Not blessed with any one outstanding trait, he just seems to pop up in big moments. Jermaine Jones - After a brilliant display on the left of a midfield diamond against Ghana, he was asked to come more centrally this time and had a superb match. Cristiano Ronaldo - he was far from his best but, just like Lionel Messi on Saturday, he had his moment. Winner Cristiano Ronaldo - a defensive liability in the first half, clearly not fit, playing with a bunch of average players, sulking and then he does that. Wow. Whats next Australia vs Spain & Chile vs Netherlands (12pm/9am) Croatia vs Mexico & Brazil vs Cameroon (4pm/1pm) Burning question for Mondays games Can Chile win the group and finally carve open a path to the late rounds that doesnt include nemesis Brazil? Stat of day 11 Silvestre Varela became the 16th substitute to score at this World Cup. Herr Nike Air Max 2017 Löparskor Svart/Antracit. Orlando is to begin play in the MLS for the 2015 season. Kaka, who currently plays with AC Milan, is expected to be loaned out to his home club Sao Paulo for the upcoming season before joining Orlando for next season.SIX QUICK HOOPS THOUGHTS 1. J.R. SMITH (Knicks): I look at the mess in NY and the loss of Tyson Chandlers Defense and Rebounding is huge, this man is not performing anywhere near the level he did as the NBA 6th Man of the Year. Look at his numbers (11.7ppg / 33 FG + 29 3 PT PCT) this season. Not good at all. This is a team with multiple problems, but after the Knicks gave him the contract extension he doesnt look like hes very locked in. You cant count on guys like this 2. TIM DUNCAN (Spurs): How about one for the old guys! He put up 23 points and 21 rebounds on Monday vs. Atlanta, oldest guy to do the 20/20+. He stays in terrific shape and another example of that fact was this game. He epitomizes the savvy veteran who knows how to play to his strengths each night and conserve energy for the defining plays. As long as he stays upright, San Antonio will be in the hunt. He has gotten off to a bit of a slow start but is rounding into shape as the season goes along. 3. TREY BURKE (Jazz): Theyve been waiting patiently for their first round pick out of Michigan to come back from injury. He has arrived—21 points and six assists vs. Houston. Utah has had poor production at that spot this season and Burke will get every opportunity to prove that hes going to be the lead guard in Salt Lake City. There are so many terrific point guards in the league right now; you must have a guy you can trust to run your team. Hes a talented scorer/shooter, now he has to prove that he can run a pro team. 4. RYAN ANDERSON (Pelicans): Tough break losing Anthony Davis to a hand Injury but coach Monty Williams has to love having Anderson back. One of the best shooting step out 4s in the League, loved him in New Jersey and OOrlando.dddddddddddd Hell compete on the boards for you as well and do it within the flow of the offense quite efficiently. Huge to have that floor spacer to set up the spacing and driving lanes for your guards. He does that at a high level, good to see him back. 5. LAWRENCE FRANK (Nets): The former Head Coach of the Pistons and Nets is now out as Jason Kidds top lieutenant. Strange news hearing of his reassignment. I had a nice chat with him last Tuesday night in Toronto and I thought he was a great addition for Kidd. They had a close relationship and now it seems to have come apart under the expectations and pressure of the spotlight. Coaching is a tough business and the most important factor is having everyone on the same page. Obviously, there were differences on philosophy. Rarely do you see a move like this though in season, its very odd. Frank is a good coach, Im sure hell be back on the sidelines down the line. Coaching is a wacky profession. Things in Brooklyn are at the point of dysfunction. 6. WARRIORS FANS: Ive just witnessed an amazing comeback here at Golden State by the Warriors-theyre a very good team. Conversely, I just saw a collapse by the Raptors that has me speechless. This is the absolute lowest point of this season for Dwane Caseys squad. Forget the Basketball and X + Os for a moment, these fans here are awesome, magnificent, terrific and whatever superlative you want to throw out there. For those of you who watched the game you know what I mean. On an early December Tuesday night when many arenas are a morgue this was magical. They stayed behind their team and this is what folks who claim to be basketball fans will agree with me wholeheartedly about. A supportive and passionate crowd does pump a team up and make a HUGE difference. It happened this evening. SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs needed a pick me up after a disappointing loss and a series of injuries, and they got it Sunday night by stepping all over the Milwaukee Bucks. Patty Mills had 20 points, Tim Duncan had 11 points and 13 rebounds in limited action, and San Antonio rolled to a 110-82 victory over Milwaukee that kept the Bucks winless in the new year. Marco Belinelli scored 14 points, Jeff Ayres and Nando De Colo had 13 points apiece, and Kawhi Leonard added 11 points in 21 minutes for San Antonio. After hanging their heads following a 109-100 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, the Spurs were feeling pretty good after trouncing the Bucks. "(My confidence is) going through the roof, man" Ayres said. "You dont see me out there? Im having fun, dunking on people and stuff. Its awesome. Life is good." Even San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich was in a light-hearted mood, joking about the season debut of athletic, 6-foot-9 forward Malcolm Thomas. "I thought he was real active," Popovich said. "He blocked (two) shots. You know we dont block shots; thats not part of our program . thats a joke." The merriment came at the expense of adding to Milwaukees misery. The Bucks have lost nine straight, dropping those games by an average of 15 points. Making matters worse for Milwaukee, starting off guard Luke Ridnour left the game after spraining his right wrist late in the first quarter. The wrist bent back after it was sandwiched between Mills and Ekpe Udoh as Ridnour attempted to roll off a screen. He still attempted a 19-foot jumper, but feverishly signalled for a sub as he clutched his wrist in pain. "The X-rays were negative, which is a good sign," Bucks coach Larry Drew said. "Right now it looks like hes in a splint and I dont know how long he will be out." It swelled right away, as soon as he did it and that was a big concern. I guess well go back and I believe hell get an MRI." Brandon Knight scored 21 points, Giannis Antetokounmpo added 11 points and John Henson had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Milwaukee, which trailed by double digits the entire second half. San Antonio played without starters Tony Parker and Tiago Splitter, former starter Danny Green and 3-point specialist Matt Bonner. Parker missed the game with a bruised right shin that stiffened in the second half of the Spurs loss to the Trail Blazers. "We were missing a lot of guys so that was a little worrying, but overall I think we did a good job," San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili said. "Everybody got to play and everybody played well. Guys made shots and its a good feeling." The Spurs bench scored 58 points, with only one coming from Ginobili. Duncan played only 27 minutes, sitting out the fourth quarter as San Antonio built its lead to as many as 28 points in the second half after breaking the game open early. The Spurs went on a 15-0 run bridging the first and second quarters, taking a 29-16 lead that essentially put the game out the Bucks reach. Milwaukee went scoreless for five minutes, missing six shots, committing two turnovers and an offensive foul. Hensons 20-foot jump hook with 11:18 remaining in the first half ended the drought. Mills opened the run with the first of his four 3-pointers, sinking a 25-footer with 4 minutes left in the first quarter. "They move the ball, they make the right play and they get the open shot," former Spurs guard Gary Neal said. "Patty was the recipient of good ball movement today and he was able to knock the shots down. You have to give credit where credit is due, that system has been in effect for a long time and its been successful for a long time." Even the notoriously tough Popovich was able to give his team a figurative pat on the back afterward. "Coaches are sick puppies," Popovich said. "Theres always things you can improve and do better. You look at the film, try to keep your standard and get ready for playoffs, but overall it was a good performance." NOTES: Parker received the La Gazzetta Dello Sports European Player of the Year award before the tipoff. Parker led France to its first European Championship in the off-season. . Neal was greeted by apathy when he entered the game, receiving little reaction in his first game in San Antonio since leaving in the off-season as a free agent. . Bonner missed the game with a broken nose he sustained after taking an elbow from the Trail Blazers Thomas Robinson in the first quarter Friday night. . Spurs analyst Sean Elliott quickly grabbed his notebook and paperwork during the first half when Duncan walked toward the scorers table with a mischievous grin. Earlier this month, Duncan playfully tossed Elliotts things during a timeout. Duncan laughed as he stood over Elliott, failing to find anything to toss at his former teammate. . San Antonios mascot, the Coyote, made a behind-back, three-quarter-court shot during a timeout. New Balance 574 Uomo Offerta. The lightning strike was in the parking lot of Crew Stadium on Saturday night, but its not known if the off-duty lieutenant was struck directly, Columbus Fire Department Battalion Chief Tracy Smith said. Kyle Denbrook, a soccer player from Saint Marys University, took the CIS male athlete of the week honour. The Raptors have been outscored 88-66 in the opening quarter over a three-game span to begin the month of February. Their most recent loss, 109-101 in Sacramento on Wednesday, was eerily similar to Saturdays defeat at the hands of the Trail Blazers.OKLAHOMA CITY -- Not much about Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook goes unnoticed. In the past week, while much of the NBA has focused on Kevin Durants run at a possible first MVP award, Westbrook quietly has been the Thunders most productive and efficient offensive player. Westbrook turned in another gem on Friday, finishing with 24 points and seven assists in just 28 minutes to help Oklahoma City beat the short-handed New Orleans Pelicans 116-94 on Friday night. Oklahoma City won its third straight and clinched the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Westbrook has been sitting in one game of back-to-backs, so he has played in just four of Oklahoma Citys past six games. In those four games, he is averaging 28.5 points, 6.8 assists and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 51 per cent from the field. "Hes well rested and hes taking advantage of a lot of matchups," Durant, who led the Thunder with 27 points against New Orleans, said. "Thats what we need from him. Hes playing extremely well. Hes picking and choosing his spots well. Hes playing with a lot of intensity for us." Westbrook said moving in and out of the lineup hasnt slowed him down. "My job is to always stay confident, regardless of if Im playing or if Im missing games," he said. "Just come out with a positive mindset and try to keep going." Serge Ibaka added 16 points, 10 rebounds and a season-high eight blocks for the Thunder. "It seemed like he had 10 or 11 blocks," Durant said. "He was protecting the paint. He was there on pick and rolls. He was there all night." The Thunder shot 54 from the field, made 23 of 27 free throws and committed just 11 turnovers. Oklahoma City led by 25 points at the end of the third quarter, so Durant and Westbrook rested in the fourth. Oklahoma City outscored New Orleans 28-0 in fast-break points. "They were able to steal a lot of buckets in transition," New Orleans guard Austin Rivers said. "I felt like every time we made one mistake, I felt like they capitalized on it, where when we got one, we werent able to." Darius Miller scored a career-high 18 points and Rivers had 18 points and eighht rebounds for the Pelicans.dddddddddddd New Orleans was without injured starters Anthony Davis (back) and Eric Gordon (left knee tendinitis). "Our guys, they just scrapped and clawed and tried to do what they can to help their teammates," New Orleans coach Monty Williams said. "Its a tough situation playing against a good team." The Thunder took advantage of New Orleans depleted lineup by taking a 30-23 lead at the end of the first quarter. Oklahoma Citys reserves helped the Thunder push the lead to 44-27. New Orleans went on an 11-0 run before Derek Fisher scored for the Thunder. On Oklahoma Citys next possession, Durant sent a nice pass to a running Ibaka, who dunked to put the Thunder up by 10. Durants jumper with three seconds left in the first half put the Thunder up 60-47 at the break. Westbrook scored 16 points in the first half on just 10 shots, while Durant and Ibaka added 12 points apiece. Midway through the third quarter, Rivers got ahead of the pack for what looked like an easy basket. Ibaka caught up with him and pinned his shot on the glass, then Durant dunked on the other end to give the Thunder a 75-56 lead. "Hes fast enough to keep up with guards," Rivers said of Ibaka. "When you have a 7-foot guy who can jump, running on a fast break on defence, its hard to get to the basket. Their defence is all on him. Without Ibaka, this is a whole different team." NOTES: Oklahoma City started its preferred lineup of Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, Kendrick Perkins and Thabo Sefolosha for just the 22nd time this season. Oklahoma City has played nine starting lineups. ... Durant was presented the Western Conference Player of the Month award for March before the game. He has won four out of five months. ... Rivers got his first start of the season, and New Orleans rookie F Jeff Withey got his second. ... New Orleans G Brian Roberts left the game with a left ankle injury and did not return. ...
