JERSEY CITY, N. Cheap Carolina Panthers Jerseys .J. -- Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch deservedly draw the attention for what theyve done in getting the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl. Players like Jermaine Kearse, Walter Thurmond and Malcolm Smith are just as big a reason why Seattle is facing Denver in Sundays championship game. Seattle may have one of the better starting lineups in the NFL, but the depth that general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll have amassed is equally impressive. Its the reason they can rotate eight different defensive linemen. Its why when Brandon Browner was injured and Thurmond suspended, Byron Maxwell could step in and the play in Seattles secondary not suffer. Its a regular refrain in the Seattle locker room to hear teammates say the Seahawks reserves could be starters on other teams. And there is some proof: in the past year 23 players once with Seattle have spent time on the 53-man roster of other teams. "Its crazy because were always saying our backups could be starters. We always say that," strong safety Kam Chancellor said. "Those guys, people dont see this, but in practice those guys play just as good as us. Theyre making plays, getting the ball. Those guys contribute on special teams. Our special teams are probably one of the best. "Those guys put in work on special teams and it just goes unseen." When Carroll and Schneider took over, there was a revolving door of roster moves --839 in total since before the start of the 2010 season -- that followed in an effort to make a roster that was competitive beyond just the starters on each side of the ball. They wanted a depth chart that was the envy of the NFL. They wanted their reserves coveted by other teams. They wanted guys they were going to be released grabbed off the waiver wire the second they were made available. Seattle got its wish. Of the players released in the past year, five ended up in Jacksonville and four landed in Kansas City. "John and I have joined together aggressively to compete at every single turn, at every opportunity whatever it may be, to see if theres something in there for us," Carroll said. "Hes done a great job of having the competitive will to keep pushing and fighting and clawing and scratching to have the opportunity that has sent us down the road early on with the hundreds of guys that came through the program." Kearse, Thurmond and Smith are just three examples of players not counted on as full-time starters that have proven invaluable. Seattles seen contributions from Michael Bowie, Clinton McDonald, Jeremy Lane and Heath Farwell just to name a few more. Kearse was an undrafted free agent that signed with Seattle in 2012 and became a needed option as a third and fourth receiver this season with Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice suffering through injuries. Kearse finished with 22 receptions and four touchdowns in the regular season, but his biggest catch came in the NFC championship game when his 35-yard TD grab in the fourth quarter gave Seattle a 20-17 lead. Thurmond missed four games late in the season when he was suspended for violating the leagues substance-abuse policy. But hes started three games at cornerback this season and is Seattles best option as the fifth defensive back covering slot receivers -- a big emphasis this week with the amount of times the Broncos throw. Smith has shown the same kind of versatility at linebacker. Hes played both outside spot this season, first when Bruce Irvin was suspended and later when injuries to K.J. Wright and Bobby Wagner forced shuffling. "Through all the stuff we have gone through there has always been a guy who stepped up and made plays," Wagner said. "Last year it was Walter, this year it was Walter and Maxwell and guys like Malcolm, everybody. We have a bunch of players that if someone went down can step in and do a great job." One of the ways Seattle was able to create such a dynamic roster came from the three-way quarterback competition that Carroll had last season and which Wilson eventually won. It sent the message to the entire roster and to any free agents -- big-name or small-time -- that Seattle was a place they could come and have a chance. "You could tell looking at our board of players that we had fast, confident, intelligent individuals," Schneider said last week. "Guys who knew they were going to come in and compete for positions because the previous year we had a three person quarterback competition. "You know you have a shot when you have a three person quarterback competition as a player." Cheap Panthers Jerseys Authentic . Louis Cardinals are one of Major League Baseballs model franchises. Even better, the Saints jumped into first place.Brees threw for 375 yards and three touchdowns, and New Orleans beat Chicago 31-15 on Monday night to grab the NFC South lead. The Saints (6- moved into first place ahead of Carolina (5-8-1) and Atlanta (5-9) after losing four of their previous five games. They also rebounded from a 41-10 loss to the Panthers.I think weve shown a couple times we can handle adversity, Brees said. Lets make sure we can handle success, too.The Saints host the Falcons before finishing the season at Tampa Bay.The tendency after success is to relax, and its not time to relax, Brees said.Brees completed 29 of 36 passes and reached the 4,000-yard mark for the ninth straight year. He threw two touchdown passes to Josh Hill and another to Marques Colston.Pierre Thomas had five catches for 83 yards. David Hawthorne had three of New Orleans seven sacks and the Saints intercepted Jay Cutler three times to bring his NFL-leading turnover total to 24.We were not in unison tonight collectively on the offensive side of the ball and that starts with me, Chicago coach Marc Trestman said. For the Bears (5-9), the loss comes after a week in which they were again engulfed in controversy. Offensive co-ordinator Aaron Kromer acknowledged he was a source behind a critical report by the NFL Network about Cutler, owning up to it in public Friday after earlier asking players and coaches for forgiveness.Cutler completed 17 of 31 passes for 194 yards, and the Bears couldnt get anything going. They managed only 278 yards against one of the leagues worst defences on a soggy night in which thousands of seats went unused. There were 10,749 no-shows, and that might not have been a bad thing for the Bears, the way they played. The Saints went ahead in the second quarter after wasting several opportunities in the opening period. Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller was called for a 17-yard pass-interference penalty trying to defend Jimmy Graham, setting up New Orleans with aa first down at the 8. Cheap Panthers Jerseys. Brees then rolled to his right on the first play of the second quarter and found an open Hill, who lunged across the goal line. The first half was so bad for Chicago that its best play might have been Patrick ODonnells 56-yard punt that went out of bounds at the New Orleans 5 with about four minutes left in the second. But the Saints responded with a 10-play, 95-yard drive.Brees threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Colston with 38 seconds left, giving the Saints a 14-0 lead. Cutlers pass was then picked off by Pierre Warren on the final play in the half.Brees and Hill connected for a 7-yard TD on their first possession in the third on a similar play as their first score, making it 21-0. It was 24-0 early in the fourth when Cutler hit Marquess Wilson with a 1-yard touchdown pass, denying New Orleans its first shutout since 2012.The Saints wasted a big scoring opportunity in the early going.New Orleans took over at the Chicago 24 after Patrick Robinson intercepted a pass that went off Martellus Bennetts hands on the games third play from scrimmage. Rather than grab the lead, the Saints quickly gave the ball back.Nick Toon got stripped by Brock Vereen after a 10-yard reception and Jared Allen made the recovery at the 3.The Saints came away empty-handed on their next possession when Shayne Grahams 51-yard field-goal attempt fell short. But the Saints eventually found their stride.I think theres a sense of urgency that we need to create each week, and we need to be mindful of how important that edge is to play well, coach Sean Payton said. Its something we made a point of emphasis with everyone.NOTES: Bears kicker Robbie Gould was inactive with a right quadriceps injury, leaving the kicking duties to Jay Feely for the second straight week. Safety Chris Conte and offensive lineman Michael Ola missed the game because of back injuries. ... Dallas Stars 6, Winnipeg Jets 4 - Saturdays loss drops the Jets to a game below five hundred, both on the season overall and at home. Adidas Teuvo Teravainen Jersey . It also extends the teams home winless skid to six. Their last win at MTS Centre was November 15 over Philadelphia. The Jets will play seven of the next 10 on the road, starting with a two-game trip -- Monday in Columbus and Tuesday in Buffalo (both games on TSN Jets, TSN Radio 1290). The Stars opened the scoring with Tyler Seguin getting his 16th; the goal coming off a bad line change by the Jets. Matt Halischuk with his third tied the game, with Mark Scheifele and Michael Frolik drawing assists. Scheifele now has seven points in his last 10 games, while Frolik has eight points in his last 11 games. Halischuk left the game later in the first with an upper-body injury. Initial indication is the injury is more than day-to-day. But the game did not stay tied for long. As was the case all game, one goal was quickly followed by another and 4:12 later Valeri Nuchushkin, the Stars 18-year-old rookie, made a great move on Ondrej Pavelec to score his fifth. A neutral zone turnover by the Jets contributed to this goal. Stars outshot the Jets 11-8 in the first. After failing to score on a five-on-three early in the second (second time in as many games after going three for three on their first three two man advantages), the Jets power play clicked for the fourth time in three games with Blake Wheeler tying the game, Olli Jokinen and Dustin Byfuglien assisting on the goal. But 48 seconds later, Jamie Benn with his 8th regained the lead for the Stars. One minute and seven seconds later, the Jets tied the game again, and again it was Wheeler. It was his 11th of the year, his sixth in six games and back-to-back two-goal games. Bryan Little with the assist to give him 22 points in the last 22 games. Then the turning point. Anthony Peluso was given five for boarding and a game misconduct for a hit on Alex Goligoski. The hit was a little late and appeared to catch Goligoski in the numbers and will certainly be reviewed by the Department of Player Safety. The Jets played the remainder of the game with 10 forwards. The Stars scored twice on the major penalty with Benn and Seguin each getting their second goal of the game. The Jets dominated the early part of the period; at one point outshooting Dallas 14-4 but in the end the shots were 16-13 Jets. To start the third, the Jets killed the remaining seconds on the power play then went to the attack and had a number of scoring chances but could not beat Kari Lehtonen. Then another defensive breakdown and Colton Sceviour on a breakaway beat Al Montoya to make it 6-3. Montoya replaced Pavelec to start the third. For Sceviour, it was his first NHL goal. Ollie Jokinen closed out the scoring with his 8th of the year with 1:41 left but the game would end 6-4. Jokinen has now surpassed his goal total from last year. Devin Setoguchi and Chris Thorburn drew assists on the goal. Shots in the third favoured the Jets 14-8 and 38-32 overall. Dallas is now 8-2-1 in their last 11 on the road. The Jets were again minus Evander Kane, although it appears he should be ready for Mondays game. Adam Pardy played in place of Keaton Ellberby. Pardy had been out the last eight. Statistically, Byfuglien lead in ice time at 27:49 and also in shots on goal with seven. He directed 15 shots at the Stars goal, with five being blocked and another three wide. Jokinen won 11 of 19 face-offs, Little nine of 16. Sergie Gonchar had a four-point game for Dallas and now has 48 points in 52 games against the Jets. Wheeler has eight points in seven career games against Dallas. Needless to say, it was a dejected Jets dressing room with comments ranging from "not acceptable" to "embarrassing." For coach Claude Noel, it was a "disappointing game and not only the result. Not a very intelligent game. Their first two goals came off bad line changes, the five minute major was costly, we wanted to contain their top line and we couldnt. It was a game we chased and every time we tied it, they would go ahead soon after. We didnt accomplish what we set out to do on this three game home stand (0-2-1). It was a step back today. I have not seen us play this way as a group for a long time. But we will regroup and start again." The Jets are now 3-11-3 inside their Central Division with the next three games against Eastern Conference teams (Columbus, Buffalo, Florida), although until this year Columbus was a Western Conference team. Espanyol midfielder Sanchez intercepted Bilbao goalkeeper Gorka Iraizozs clearance and, having spotted a gap, risked using his less-favoured left foot to fire a beautifully precise long-range shot that bounced in from high up the near post in the 24th minute.Modena, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Sassuolo trailed at halftime but stormed back to collect a 3-1 victory over Empoli at the Stadio Citta del Tricolore on Tuesday. The visitors were in front after only 18 minutes thanks to Daniele Croces strike, and they managed to maintain the lead through the intermission. But the hosts got back on level terms in the 56th minute through Simone Missirolis first goal of the campaign. Things looked grim for Sassuolo afteer Domenico Berardi failed to convert a 59th-minute penalty, but Sergio Floccari provided the go-ahead goal just two minutes later to rescue the home side. Adidas Victor Rask Jersey. Berardi made amends for his penalty miss in the 73rd minute by notching an insurance goal, clinching Sassuolos second league win of the season to put the club on 10 points through nine games. EDMONTON -- Chris Jones is from the small town of South Pittsburgh, Tenn. Cheap Chargers Jerseys Authentic ., where, he says, theres a lot of blue collar people who "work extremely hard for their money." And that hard work, he said, is what he will bring to the Edmonton Eskimos as the 20th head coach in their history. He also brings a wealth of CFL experience. Hes been a defensive coach since 2002, including stints as an assistant head coach two years in Calgary and most recently as assistant head coach, assistant general manager and defensive co-ordinator for the Toronto Argonauts. Jones has been in the post-season each of his 12 years in the league, won seven division titles and three Grey Cups. The length of terms of his contract were not revealed. "Today is about 2014 and beyond," Eskimo general manager Ed Hervey said in introducing Jones to the media and fans on Wednesday. "I know I have selected the right person to coach this team. We know there is work to do but we are committed to making this thing right and I believe our team is in the right hands of Chris Jones." Saying he was "tremendously excited" to have his first head coaching job, Jones told the gathering of about 50 people in the Eskimos dressing room that he remembers growing up in South Pittsburgh "where they make cast iron and all I wanted to do is be a head football coach. "Now I have a chance to do it with what I feel like is the best organization in this league and I fully expect to put together a great staff, I fully expect to win a ton of games and bring a Grey Cup back here. "My teams have won a lot of games, Grey Cup championships. Its been a tremendous, tremendous ride and its going to continue in Edmonton." One of his first priorities is to secure a coaching staff. He wouldnt mention any names, he said, because many of the people hes looking at are employed by other teams and hes waiting for permission to speak to the individuals. But, he said, when it comes to finding his staff and upgrading the player roster, "were going to hit the ground running. This is not going to be one of those slow procedures. . . its going to come rather quickly." Jones, who was a guest coach with Edmonton in 1999 when Hervey was a rookie receiver on the team, brings an aggressive style and attitude and said the Eskimos will play that way under his regime. He takes over a team that went 4-14 in 2013, a record that resulted in the firing of head coach Kavis Reed and at times had Hervey publicly criticizing the players. "Some of the parts are here," Jones said of the Eskimos. "Its just a matter of finding some help in other spots. To win you need great players, great coaches and in the next few months we will work on that." Hervey, who publicly apologized to members of the media for his attitude towards and treatment of last season, said he wanted a head coach similar to him and he likes the fit between himself and Jones. "His resume speaks for itself. He has the type of attitude that we need here. The expectation levels are high and when you talk about what is expected I felt there was only one person who could meet those expectations and hes standing in front of you. "I made the right football decision, for many reasons. I firmly believe we have the right guy for the job. I believe in Chris Jones. When I look at our club I honestly believe he gives us the best chance of winning." Cheap Caraun Reid Jersey . The moves were the first punitive steps taken by the Dolphins since a report on the NFLs investigation of the case was released last week. Investigators found that guard Richie Incognito and two teammates engaged in persistent harassment directed at tackle Jonathan Martin, another offensive lineman and an assistant trainer. Cheap Spencer Pulley Jersey . Rasmussen didnt have a decision during his four appearances in May, when he gave up two hits and no runs in two innings. Toronto used five relievers while pulling off the second-biggest comeback in franchise history on Friday night, rallying from an 8-0 deficit to a 14-9 win. http://www.cheapchargersjerseyselite.com/?tag=cheap-chris-mccain-jersey .com) - Australian Open champion Li Na, former Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova and former world No.Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Michigan State, Michigan, Syracuse and Florida were supposed to have down years. But this down? Meanwhile, defending champion Connecticut, SMU, Nebraska and UCLA have also started slowly after being ranked in the preseason polls. Only two of the eight teams listed above made my initial NCAA Tournament projection bracket (listed below), but the start of conference play will allow these squads to play themselves back into the tournament discussion. And why cant they? Seven of these teams sport upper-tier head coaches, with several of them Hall- of-Famers or future Hall-of-Famers. Nebraskas Tim Miles is the lone omission. Theres still plenty of time to fix the kinks. And if any of these teams play their way into the tournament dont be surprised if any of them makes a run. Since the tournament expanded to 68 teams in 2011, five double-digit power conference teams have reached the Sweet 16 -- Stanford (10 - 2014), Tennessee (11 - 2014), Oregon (12 - 2013), North Carolina State (11 - 2012) and Marquette (11 - 2011). Double-digit power conference teams are also 13-13 in the second round. Although the Big Ten is down, if Michigan State, Nebraska and Michigan can finish around the 9-9, 10-8 range in conference, that should get them in, although the Spartans are in a better position than the Wolverines and Huskers. The same could be said for ACCs Syracuse, SECs Florida and Pac-12s UCLA. Connecticut and SMU may have a tougher task. Theyll most likely have to sport better in-conference records because the league theyre in arent as deep as the Big Ten, ACC, SEC or Pac-12. Connecticut and SMU might have to get to 12-6 or 13-5 to receive an at-large bid. The Mustangs went 12-6 in the AAC last season and werent selected into the tourney field. Michigan might be the most erratic team of the bunch. John Beilein had to replace four major components and the top two scorers from last years Elite Eight team, but the Wolverines still have versatile scorer Caris LeVert and the 3-point shooting ability of Zak Irvin. They were a top-20 team in the preseason polls, but a mid-December swoon has Michigan scrambling for answers. The Wolverines had a fine showing at the Legends Classic in late November at Barclays Center, narrowly falling to Villanova in the title game. But they dropped four straight coming off a home win against Syracuse on Dec. 2. Michigan suffered a head-scratching home loss to NJIT (RPI 190) before following with another clunker in Ann Arbor to Eastern Michigan. Michigan was routed at Arizona and fell to SMU on Dec. 20 at Crisler Center. The Wolverines opened Big Ten play with a home overtime win against Illinois, but followed that up with a road loss at Purdue. The Spartans are without three starters and the top two scorers from their Elite Eight squad a year ago. Coach Tom Izzo said before the season that his team has upside, but theyve yet to play up to it. That was evident in a 71-64 overtime loss to Texas Southern (RPI 124) on Dec. 20. The Spartans began their league slate with a double-overtime loss to Maryland in what couldve been a solid win to put on their resume. Jacob Kurtzs accidental last-second tip-in of Devon Bookerts miss in a loss to in-state rival Florida State on Wednesday has exemplified Floridas season. Also Wednesday, Daniel Hamiltons trio of free throw misfires in the waning seconds of UConns loss to Temple in overtime was a perfect description of the Huskies year. They just havent been able to close. UConn had Texas beat until Jonathan Holmes knocked down a left corner 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to lift the Longhorns on Nov. 30. The same result happened in its next game when Jack Montagues late triple lifted Yale past the Huskies. The Gators and Huskies clashed Saturday in Gainesville, with the Huskies picking up a much-needed victory. The quartet of Scottie Wilbekin, Casey Prather, Will Yeguette and Patric Young set a school record with 120 career wins, 13 NCAA Tournament victories and four straight Elite Eight appearances -- 2013 Final Four visit. But those are four stalwarts Florida no longer has. The Gators have looked a lot better since a 3-4 start, rattling off four double-digit victories in a row prior to the FSU and UConn defeats. They dropped a 69-67 decision to in-state rival Miami-Florida in their second game of the season and lost a pair in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament -- Georgetown and North Carolina. UF also held a 39-24 halftime advantage against Kansas, but was outscored 47-26 over the final 20 minutes en route to a 71-65 defeat. Florida has a trio of talented guards in Kasey Hill, Eli Carter and Michael Frazier to go along with Dorian-Finney Smith. Its the development of former McDonalds All-American Chris Walker, though, that might propel UF into the Big Dance. Hes yet to show the potential, but its time for him to make his mark. He was suspended for three games earlier this year for a violation of team rules after having to wait until the conclusion of the first semester to see court time last season. A year removed from a postseason ban due to poor APR scores, Connecticut quickly made up for lost time by hoisting its fourth NCAA Title since 1999 last season. But gone is Shabazz Napier. The Huskies still have Napiers runnning mate from a year ago, Ryan Boatright, and the shot-swatting presence of Amidah Brimah. Cheap Melvin Ingram Jersey. NC State transfer Rodney Purvis is also a key cog. Due to being in a poor league, UConn scheduled a tough non-conference slate that included Duke, Texas, Florida and Stanford. The Huskies have to beat Stanford later this month to get some resume credibility with a lack of opportunities in the AAC. Two years ago Michael-Carter Williams led Syracuse to the Final Four and Tyler Ennis helped the Orange to a 28-6 mark a year ago. Thats a pair of NBA first- round talents. This season at point guard? Well, another freshman, but Kaleb Joseph still has a lot to learn. Joseph had his best game of the season Dec. 20 in an overtime loss to Villanova. He recorded 10 points and 10 assists, but that was after an eight-turnover performance against Louisiana Tech. The Orange dont own any bad losses like Michigan or Michigan State and a victory over Iowa may turn into something by seasons end. In potential games to boost their resume, Syracuse fell to California in the semifinals of the 2K Classic, at Michigan, at home to St. Johns and at Villanova. The expectations for the Mustangs in June were a lot higher than they were in early November. That was before Emmanuel Mudiay, arguably the No. 1 point guard in the country and a top-five pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, decided to take his talents to China. In September, it was found that Texas Tech transfer Jordan Tolbert would lack the necessary hours to graduate from SMU in one year. He will not play for the school this season. SMUs starting big man Markus Kennedy was then ruled ineligible for the first semester in mid-November, but was cleared to return on Dec. 19. The talent is still there to make the tournament. Nic Moore, Sterling Brown and Keith Frazier make up a formidable backcourt. Like Syracuse, SMU doesnt have any bad losses. The Mustangs began 2-3 with losses at Gonzaga, at Indiana and home against Arkansas, but it ripped off eight consecutive victories prior to losing at Cincinnati -- a critical chance in conference to put a top-50 win on the resume. For the last two seasons Kyle Anderson was a 6-foot-9, do-everything guard/forward for UCLA, leading the team in rebounds (8.8 rpg) and assists (6.5 apg) to go along with 14.6 points per game. Zach LaVine and Jordan Adams were also NBA first-round picks that the Bruins had to replace. UCLA, which advanced to the Sweet 16 in coach Steve Alfords first season, is led by his son Bryce. The Bruins are also guided by senior Norman Powell and talented freshman Kevon Looney. UCLA has yet to post a signature win and lost the first two games of its Battle 4 Atlantis tournament to Oklahoma and North Carolina. The Bruins have also recently lost to Gonzaga at home, Kentucky in Chicago, at Alabama and suffered a 71-39 blowout loss to Utah in the early stages of Pac-12 play. Nebraska was predicted to finish last in the Big Ten last season but instead ended fourth in the standings. With loftier expectations this season, its been a different story. The Huskers dropped a home game to Incarnate Word on Dec. 10 and fell to Hawaii in the Diamond Head Classic. Nebraska also has losses at Rhode Island and home to Creighton. Its lone key win was a double- overtime thriller against Cincinnati on Dec. 13. Nebraska has the talent to make a move in the Big Ten, Terran Petteway and Shavon Shields make up a solid duo, but this is uncharted territory for the program. Ultimately, five of the eight teams listed could make the tournament. Just too much talent and coaching experience for these squads to not make the Big Dance. I also think the bubble could be rather weak this season. Nebraska, UCLA, Connecticut and SMU could be in trouble. Nebraska isnt used to being in this position, while the Bruins, Huskies and Mustangs may have problems because the conference theyre in. But UConn is likely the best team in the AAC and should get in by winning its conference tournament. Notes: RPI rankings are as of Jan. 4. Projected bracket features predicted conference champions. TORONTO - Mark Buehrle eyes up a historic win Friday night when the Toronto Blue Jays welcome the Boston Red Sox to town for the opener of a three-game set between American League East rivals. Cheap Bruins Jerseys Authentic . Buehrle enters with a major league-best 0.64 ERA through four starts. He looks to become the first pitcher in the majors to reach five wins as well as the first Blue Jays pitcher ever to begin a season with five straight victories. "Hes just locked in right now," manager Jay Gibbons said. "He even admitted in spring training he hadnt felt this good in a long time. But he competes, hes a great competitor. "One thing about Buehrle is he pitches to win, he doesnt pitch for stats. You get guys in this game who pitch for stats. He pitches to win, and you need more guys like that." In his last start, Buehrle gave up just four hits in seven-plus shutout innings of a 5-0 win at Cleveland. Toronto will try to avoid its first three-game slide of the season after falling at home to Baltimore on Thursday, 11-4. While things have gone well so far this season for Buehrle, Bostons Jake Peavy is still in search of his first win. This marks the fifth time through the rotation for the right-hander. He had given up a total of just four earned runs over his first three starts before getting tagged for five runs on a season-high 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings against Baltimore his last time out. However, Peavy has a 2.29 ERA over his last five starts against Toronto. Boston has lost three of its last four after Thursdays lopsided 14-5 setback to the division-leading Yankees. "Every team goes through slumps hitting, goes through slumps defensively," shortstop Xander Bogaerts said. "Its part of the game. Were definitely going to get better." On the injury front, outfielder Shane Victorino was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Thursday after missing the first 22 games of the season with a strained right hamstring. He played right field and batted second in Thursdays game and went 1-for-5 with a double. "This is something we have been waiting for. Shanes return will help solidify our outfield defense and also the top of the order," manager John Farrell said. "It is good to have him back in the lineup. Langer matched Bryant at 6-under 66 at The Woodlands Country Club. Langer won the 2007 event at Augusta Pines and successfully defended his title in 2008 at The Woodlands. The 56-year-old German player won the season-opening event in Hawaii for his 19th Champions Tour title and has 20 straight under-par rounds. The birdie streak tied Dan Forsmans 2009 tournament record. "You want to keep going," Langer said. "I was sad the day was over. I wouldve liked to try a few more holes to make a few more birdies." Bryant won the Dicks Sporting Goods Open last year for his lone victory on the 50-and-over tour. He rebounded from a bogey on the par-5 13th with three straight birdies. "I felt like it was a real anomaly, but then to hit a really good iron shot and salvage the bogey was pretty big," he said. "That kept my spirits up." Defending champion Esteban TToledo was a stroke back. Adidas Patrice Bergeron Jersey. "I just have to get used to the position where Im at," Toledo said. "Im not scared. Ive played on the tour against Tiger in front of 50,000 people. Maybe more than that. Im not afraid to lose. I might lose but Im not afraid." Toledo, who moved to The Woodlands after last years tournament, said he is still in a whirlwind from that win. "To be honest with you, I cant believe I see my pictures on those little badges," he said. "Its funny to me. Ive never seen anything like that. It kind of got me going." Woodlands resident Jeff Maggert, Fred Funk and Joe Daley shot 68. Maggert won in Mississippi in March in his first start on the 50-and-over tour. LONDON -- Wayne Rooney scored for the first time in two months with a strike of the quality that justifies his lucrative new Manchester United contract as the floundering English Premier League champions won 2-0 at Crystal Palace on Saturday. Youth Air Max 2017 . The striker volleyed in Uniteds second, shortly after Robin Van Persies second-half penalty, a day after ending the uncertainty over his United future by signing a new deal that could earn him more than $140 million until 2019. Such a contract would seem to be beyond the reach of Palace, whose fans appeared to throw coins at Rooney, who flicked them back in their direction. "Its been more or less agreed for a month now and it was just the fine details that needed sorting," said Rooney, who pushed unsuccessfully to leave United last year. "I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible and thankfully its behind me and I can concentrate on my football." United needs Rooney, with just 12 goals this season having missed much of January through injury, to be more prolific for it to have any chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Although United ended a three-game winless run and climbed to sixth, David Moyes side was eight points from Liverpool in the fourth Champions League place having played an extra game. And this was a victory against a Palace side that might have sprung from the bottom in recent months with a recovery but was still only two points above the relegation zone. "We moved the ball well, maybe could have created more chances but overall we were in control of the game and once we got one goal we knew wed get another and see the game out," Rooney said. Looking at the team sheet, this is not a United side that should have taken until midway through the second half to score, or be in such a lowly position. The forward line in south London saw Rooney working in tandem with Van Persie and January signing Juan Mata. Uniteds teenage midfield dynamo, Adnan Januzaj, did put the ball in the net early on but it was ruled out because he appeared to control a pass from Van Persie with his arm. And as United struggled in front of goal initially, goalkeeper David de Gea was called into action to block Marouane Chamakhs header. Uniteds Marouane Fellaini, starting his first game since December following wrist and groin injuries, squandered a good chance when he missed the target with the net in sight. It was a dangerous start to the second half by Palace, with De Gea tipping over when under pressure from Glenn Murrays corner, and saving low from Jason Puncheon after Ince sliced over. United looked unable to score, but the breakthrough came after Chamakh, the forward who was back in defence, tripped left back Patrice Evra. From the spot, Van Persie sent Julian Speroni the wrong way to make it 12 goals for the season in the 62nd minute. Suddenly United looked a more confident attacking unit, with Mata setting up Fellaini for a low shot that was saved. But Palace also came close to levelling, with Mile Jedinak playing in Cameron Jerome who fought off defenders to force De Gea into a low diving save with almost his first touch since coming off the bench. Uniteds anxieties were eased by Rooney scoring his first goal since Dec. 26, powering the ball in after Evras cross bobbled over to him, unmarked, in a prime central position. "Sometimes when Wayne has not got time to think, he does things naturally," Moyes said. "He has natural talent and the technique and ability to get his weight behind the ball and strike it cleanly. He works really hard for the team and some of his passing was fantastic." It left Moyes relieved that he prevented Rooney from defecting to a rival. "He would have been too difficult to replace," Moyes said. "There arent enough top players out there that you can get cheaply or easily. Waynes one of them, one of the top players." ANAHEIM, Calif. Under Armour Basketball Shoes For Sale . -- The Tampa Bay Rays put switch-hitting second baseman Ben Zobrist on the 15-day disabled list Thursday because of a dislocated left thumb. "Right now, were just doing treatment and weve got to let the inflammation get down," Zobrist said before the Rays began a four-game series with the Los Angeles Angels. "As far as everything else, I can throw, I can do exercises and I can run, so I can keep my body in complete shape -- outside of swinging and catching balls. "So once it starts feeling good enough, Ill be able to be able to hit left-handed first. Catching the ball will probably be the last thing." Zobrist was injured on a headfirst slide while trying to steal second base in Wednesdays 2-0 victory at Seattle. "I knew it was dislocated when I looked at it," he said. "But I was definitely relieved that it wasnt broken, too." The headfirst slide is a part of Zobrists game, and something he plans to continue when he returns to the lineup. "Ive slid headfirst a whole lot in my career," said Zobrist, who turns 33 in less than two weeks. "And every time Ive slid normally headfirst, Ive been safe -- not safe on the play, mind you -- but as far as not getting hurt. The only two times Ive tried to avoid a tag diving headfirst are the two times Ive hurt myself. So for me, its not a matter of sliding headfirst. Its a matter of trying to do something crazy while youre sliding headfirst." Zobrist played in a career-high 157 games last season, becoming the first player in franchise history to appear in 150 or more games in five consecutive years. The nine-year veteran and two-time All-Star is batting .260 with three homers and nine RBIs for the Rays, who came to Anaheim last in the A.L. East -- but just 3 1/2 games out of first. "This guy is a regular part of our heartbeat," manager Joe Maddon said. "Hes the guy that puts you back into a normal rhythm a lot of times, so its no fun. But weve had to go through these moments before -- and some of our best years we had to go through a lot of adversity early with injuries. The fact that nobodys running away with the division while were going through our maladies is a good thing." The Rays selected the contract of Cole Figueroa from Triple-A Durham. The 26-year-old infielder was hitting .299 with three homers and 16 RBIs at Durham. This is his seventh season in professional ball and his first trip to the big leagues. Gausman pitched six innings and Pearce, who homered during a 7-5 victory over Tampa Bay on Tuesday, went 2 for 4 to boost his batting average to .324 with six homers and 15 RBIs. Not bad for a guy who was out of baseball for two days after the Orioles designated him for assignment and eventually released him in the opening month of the season. Since re-signing with the team on April 29, hes gradually built confidence while making the most of limited chances hes had to contribute. "And I want to keep continuing it and doing what I can do to help the team win," Pearce said. "Thats 10 at-bats in two days, I dont know if Ive ever had that in my career." The first of Pearces two doubles, a line drive down the right-field line, drove in Nick Markakis from first base in the fifth inning. Alex Cobb (2-5) would have gotten through the fifth unscathed if second baseman Ben Zobrist hadnt mishandled Markakis two-out grounder for an error. Cobb yielded four hits and four walks in seven innings. The right-hander fanned six in his sixth start since returning from a five-week stay on the disabled list with a left oblique strain. "Its kind of been the story of the year so far for us in the fact that on those days we pitch good, its been tough to come across some runs," Cobb said. "On the other hand of that is were pitching poorly and the offence is putting up a lot of runs," the right-hander added. "Weve just got to get on the same page and ... and play the type of baseball we should be." Gausman (3-1) allowed five hits, walked one and struck out five, including Zobrist and James Loney after the Rays loaded the bases with no outs in the first. The Rays were blanked for an AL-leading 11th time, finishingg with five hits and going 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position. Under Armour Basketball Shoes USA. "We just didnt hit," Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon said. "How many times have I had to say that this year?" Pearce is hitting .444 with three homers, three doubles, five walks, five runs scored and six RBIs against Tampa Bay this year. Most of the damage has come at Tropicana Field, where the Orioles have won five of six meetings between the AL East rivals to build a 7-1 lead in the season series. Cruz, who also leads the majors with 58 RBIs, homered for the first time since June 3. The solo shot off Kirby Yates made it 2-0 in the eighth. Tommy Hunter pitched two perfect innings and Zach Britton worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his ninth save in 10 opportunities. The Rays loaded the bases in the first on a leadoff walk, Kevin Kiermaiers single and shortstop J.J. Hardys fielding error. Gausman worked out of the jam, striking out Loney and Zobrist before getting David DeJesus to foul out along the left field line to end the threat. The Rays wasted another opportunity in the sixth when Evan Longoria had a leadoff double, Loney struck out and Zobrist hit a soft liner to left field that Pearce caught on the run before tossing the ball to second for an easy double play, when Longoria continued to run, mistakenly thinking there were two outs. "Stevie just seems to be dialing up what we need," Showalter said. "Its probably no coincidence that he was involved in the double play, too. That was pretty good positioning." NOTES: Pearce, who grew up in nearby Lakeland, has three homers in 18 at-bats against the Rays this season. All of the homers have come at Tropicana Field. ... After striking out with the bases loaded in the first and hitting into a double play in the sixth, Zobrist has one hit in his last 36 at-bats with runners in scoring position. ... The Orioles have Thursday off before beginning a weekend series at Yankee Stadium, with RHP Ubaldo Jimenez (2- facing RHP Hiroki Kuroda (4-5) on Friday. The Rays continue a 10-day homestand, opening a four-game set against Houston, with RHP Chris Archer going against RHP Collin McHugh (4-4) on Thursday. TURIN, Italy - Home favourite Francesco Molinari and Austrias Bernd Wiesberger both shot 66 to share the first round lead at the Italian Open on Thursday, while Stephen Gallachers bid to earn a late spot on Europes Ryder Cup team ran into trouble. Myles Garrett Womens Jersey . Molinari — who was born in Turin — and Wiesberger managed six birdies each in their bogey-free rounds to finish six under par. They lead a group of five players, including early leader John Hahn of the United States, by one stroke. Gallacher, who needs a top-two finish to dislodge former U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell from Europes team, opened with a par-72. The Scot is the only player still capable of moving into the automatic Ryder Cup places in the final qualifying event. European captain Paul McGinley said Molinari is "very much in my mind" for one of the three Ryder Cup wild cards he will announce on Tuesday, while the man himself thinks he needs a second Italian Open win on Sunday to guarantee a third consecutive cup appearance at Gleneagles next month. "I had a chat with Paul when he got here and I think the good thing is that he knows what I can bring to the team because he has seen me as vice-captain on the last two teams," Molinari said. "But its up to me to prove that I really want it and am playing well enough. I think anything less than a win would not be enough so I have to aim for that." Gallacher headed straight to the range after a round featuring four birdies and four bogeys. The 39-year-old Scot squandered a good start after almost holing his approach to his second hole of the day. "Im a bit disappointed because I threw away a couple of shots midway through my round, but its OK for the first day and I am only one good score away from the top of the leaderboard," Gallacher said. "I know I have to finish first or second, thats not going to change, so Im not putting any pressure on myself. Once you get out on the course you just try to birdie every hole. Thats the easy part. Its when you finish you think about the Ryder Cup." Hahn produced six birdies but bogeyed the sixth hole to leave him second with Northern Irelands Gareth Maybin, Scotlands Richie Ramsay, Englands Richard Bland and South African Hennie Otto, with 17-year-old Italian amateur Edoardo Lipparelli among a seven-strong group another shot back. Myles Garrett Black Jersey . "He came up to me and said, I want to train," said Toronto coach Ryan Nelsen. The 26-year-old midfielder is expected to play Saturday night when Toronto hosts D.C. United, returning to his Major League Soccer squad with mixed feelings about the Americans World Cup run -- sad that it ended when it did but proud of his teams performance. Myles Garrett Texas A&M Jersey . Rodgers was ruled out on Friday by Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. Matt Flynn will make his second consecutive start for the Packers. http://www.mylesgarrettjersey.com/ . -- Former NHL star Jeremy Roenick shot a second-round 69 to take the lead after 36 holes and former LPGA great Annika Sorenstam and Chad Pfeifer, who lost his left leg above the knee serving in Iraq, are among several players in contention in the American Century Championship tournament on Saturday.PHILADELPHIA -- Down and out or down to the wire, the 76ers are freefalling toward NBA history. D.J Augustin scored 20 points and Taj Gibson had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 102-94 win over Philadelphia on Wednesday night, handing the 76ers their 22nd straight loss. The Sixers are four losses shy of matching the NBA record for the longest single-season losing streak. The Cleveland Cavaliers set the record of 26 consecutive losses in the 2010-11 season. The Vancouver Grizzlies (1995-96), Denver Nuggets (1997-9 and Charlotte Bobcats (2011-12) each lost 23 straight. "Winnable game," 76ers coach Brett Brown said. "I say that because a group thats been losing ... still stays together. They still compete. Im proud of them." The Sixers also lost their 17th straight home game since beating Charlotte on Jan. 15. They were 8-11 at home at that point and had already defeated Miami, the Bulls, and Houston in Philadelphia. After the Sixers were 3-0 following a Nov. 2 win over Chicago, fans held signs that said, "3-0. Thats No Bull." That seems like another season at times after the Sixers traded Evan Turner, Spencer Hawes and Lavoy Allen at the deadline for draft picks, a necessary step for a rebuilding franchise. Unlike most of the first 21 losses in the streak, the Sixers were competitive until the final possessions, never letting the Bulls lead by more than 11. Sixers centre Byron Mullens, who hadnt attempted a shot all game, hit consecutive 3s to pull the Sixers to 83-80. He made a nifty save on a ball headed out of bounds, leading to Henry Sims bucket and a foul. With a chance to tie the game, Sims missed the free throw with 8:19 left. Thaddeus Young bailed him out a possession later with a 3-pointer that made it 85-all. Joakim Noah buried a go-ahead 3 from the top of the arc and Augustin followed with one from the sideline to put the Bulls up 91-85. Tony Wrotens 3 made it 93-90 but it was just more false hope. Carlos Boozers emphatic dunk stretched the lead to six and the Bulls did enough to hang on and move to .500 onn the road (17-17). Myles Garrett Youth Jersey. The Sixers have lost three of four by less than 10 points after losing each of the previous 10 games by double-digits. "We knew it would be this type of game," Augustin said. "We just tried to fight them until the end and it was a fight, a real fight." The Sixers could make it 23 straight with a loss Friday to New York. Then three straight on the road at Chicago, San Antonio and Houston. If the Sixers lose all of those games, the potential record 27th loss would come March 29 vs. Detroit. Young scored 24 points for the Sixers and Wroten had 17. "Were going to get one soon," Wroten said. Boozer had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulls and Noah added 14 points and 10 boards. The Sixers solid 11-for-24 3-point shooting was undone by a 9 of 19 mark from the free-throw line. "There is just no inch for error," Brown said. "Theres no wiggle room at all." The Sixers stayed tight and chipped away in the third, making it 64-61 on Youngs 3-pointer. Sims was 0 for 7 from the floor until his first basket cut it to 64-63. The Sixers just couldnt make the clutch basket or two to finally take the lead. Theyd get as close again as two points in the third and trailed only 75-69 at the end of the quarter. "I think Bretts done a great job with them," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "Theyve got a lot of moving parts. I give a guy like Young a lot of credit for his professionalism -- how hard he plays. They shot the ball well. The Bulls played without Derrick Rose, the former MVP point guard who tore the meniscus in his right knee at Portland in November and was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Thibodeau said Rose could could be ready to return if he gets the call to play this summer for Team USA at the world championships. "I know hed like to do it," Thibodeau said. "I know how USA basketball feels about him. If hes cleared to do it, Id love to see him do it." NOTES: The Sixers are 3-32 since a four-game winning streak ended Jan. 4. ... With the final four being arguably the four best – and most complete – teams from the regular season, picking a winner is not as easy as it sounds.Playoff hockey begins Wednesday and this years Playoff Payoff once again has the numbers and information to help you win your playoff pool. Click here for TSN.cas 2014 NHL Playoff Payoff, a full team-by-team stats breakdown for your playoff pool prep. When it comes to playoff pools, the basic strategy is simple: pick players from the four teams you think will reach the Conference Finals; that will give the players selected ample opportunity to score enough points for your squad. Its very difficult, if not altogether impossible, to win without having a solid presence among the final four teams because no matter how many points get accumulated in early rounds, if your team runs out of active bodies before the Conference Finals, its going to be extremely challenging to hold the lead. Naturally, the focus will be on top seeds and there is nothing wrong with loading up on players from Boston and Chicago if you can get quality players. At the same time, it needs to be recognized that there is not a huge difference in quality between the rest of the playoff teams, so theres likely going to be plenty of value to be found on lower-seeded teams. That doesnt mean ignoring the blue chip players -- top players on the favourite teams are the most valuable -- but it does suggest that once you have laid the groundwork with players from higher-seeded teams, then there ought to be an opportunity to secure value on lower seeds. There will come a time, at some point in your draft, that you have to decide whether you would rather have the best player on a low seed or a lesser player on a top seed and the answer will probably come by looking at the players youve already selected. BEST PLAYER vs. PLAYER ON BEST TEAM If you can take the best player off a lower seed, and it wont contradict any of your early picks, then its likely a good move. If you dont have representation on a highly-seeded team already, its generally not worth it to start investing in lower-tier players. So, Reilly Smith and Carl Soderberg might offer value when youre picking Bruins, but if they are the best available Bruins by the time you pick, youre likely fighting an uphill battle to beat out teams that have David Krejci, Patrice Bergeron, Jarome Iginla etc. As an aside, it makes lots of sense to target Bruins because they have a more definitive edge over their Eastern Conference competition, compared to the West where, for example, legitimate Cup contenders Los Angeles and San Jose meet in Round One, and one of them has to lose. It could make more sense, instead, to go for Zach Parise or Mikko Koivu, top players on a lower seed that offer bigger marginal returns if they pull off at least one series upset. INJURIES Just as with the real teams involved, injuries are always a factor in fantasy sports, so its imperative to stay on top of the playing status of top players heading into the postseason, both for the potential line combinations and having some idea who might be filling in if a significant player remains sidelined. NHL teams are notorious for being vague or even dishonest regarding injuries at the best of times, let alone at this point in the season, but you may want to avoid, or at least decrease the value of, guys who are already going into the playoffs with injuries. As the playoffs start, there are a number of high profile players that arent expected to be ready. That list includes: Matt Duchene, Nathan Horton, Henrik Zetterberg, Mikael Granlund, Alex Galchenyuk, Chris Kreider, Evgeni Malkin, and Vladimir Tarasenko. Add into that mix, stars that at least have questionable health status after late-season injuries. Jonathan Toews, Drew Doughty, Ryan McDonagh, Martin Hanzal, T.J. Oshie, David Backes and Ben Bishop have all missed time late in the year and at least some could miss at least some first-round games. PICKING PAIRS Consider doubling-up on line combinations, when thhe value is right. Nike Shox Clearance. If you set your sights on Joe Thornton early, youll get all the more enjoyment out of Brent Burns a round or two later. Over the short season of an NHL playoff tournament, a hot line can go a long way and if you happen to pick the right one, that can tilt the results of your pool. TAKE A CHANCE Dont be afraid to make a sleeper pick late in the draft. The small sample size of playoffs lends itself to unexpected results, like Bryan Bickell scoring 17 points last year, Bryce Salvador scoring 14 points in 24 games in 2012 (he had nine points in 82 regular season games), Joel Ward scoring 13 points in 12 games in 2011, Ville Leino tallying 21 points in 19 games in 2010 or many others, from Ruslan Fedotenko to R.J. Umberger to Fernando Pisani, generally unheralded players who have all had double-digit goal totals in a single playoff year. Late in your draft, roll the dice on an unheralded player that might have a decent opportunity. THE NUMBERS Given these basic plans, the following team lists will provide information to help organize your drafting priorities. Each player listed has their points per game listed and thats a general value to start with. Then, look at what the player has done in the later portion of this season. Usually, I break down splits after the All-Star break but, for this year, a look at the pre and post-Olympic splits can reveal some changing roles. If the point totals are higher, maybe its a young player who is taking on more responsibility, or a veteran whose playing situation changed due to trade. Gustav Nyquist, for example, could be held in higher esteem than the standard player that hasnt even scored 50 points. Nyquist was the leagues most dangerous scorer from about mid-January through to the end of the season. The third rate included for each player is their NHL career playoff scoring average. In the vast majority of situations, that number will be lower than players career averages because the playoffs are tighter checking games that involve the best teams. Even some great players have lower career scoring averages in the playoffs because they didnt contribute much early in their career and theyve since emerged as elite postseason perfomers. Pavel Datsyuk, Marian Hossa, Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau are among the high-profile players that didnt produce early in the playoffs, but have had many productive postseasons since then. By no means should previous playoff production eliminate a player from consideration -- because sometimes a player is labeled as unproven in the postseason, until suddenly he is -- but if a player has made a career of under-performing in the playoffs, the safe play could be to let someone else take that risk or wait an extra round or two before wading into those waters. Power plays rule the postseason so make sure your roster is loaded with players who get time with the man advantage. No one in the Top 20 of last years playoff scoring had zero power play points. Bostons Milan Lucic along with Chicagos Patrick Kane and Bryan Bickell each had one power play point. Power play defencemen, in particular, have more value in the playoffs so dont let these players slip by you in the middle-to-later rounds of the draft. Kris Letang, Zdeno Chara, Slava Voynov, Duncan Keith and Paul Martin all hit double figures in scoring in last years playoffs, all with at least four points on the power play. Power play point totals are included as a general guide for which players are most likely to get those man advantage opportunities. Finally, as the postseason approaches and match-ups are set, check out the Fantasy Hockey Update playoff editions, and my blog which will have my playoff picks for more information as you prepare to win your playoff pool. TORONTO -- Striker Jermain Defoe says he is back to 100 per cent and ready to play for Toronto FC -- and England. Air Max Tavas Black . "Its been really frustrating because when you get off to a good start, you just want it to continue as long as possible," said Defoe, who scored three goals in his first two games in Major League Soccer before being sidelined with a hamstring strain in late March. "But it happens. Its football, you get little niggles. Luckily enough it wasnt something that was too serious. It was just a case of resting and doing your rehab stuff. But yeah it feels fine now. I feel 100 per cent. Ive worked really hard. So maybe Ill come back stronger than I was before, which is important for the team." Saturdays game against the visiting New England Revolution (3-3-2) will mark five weeks since Defoe walked off the field favouring his hamstring in the 61st minute of a 3-0 loss to Real Salt Lake. Thanks to a bye, he only missed three games with Toronto (3-3-0) going 1-2-0 in his absence. Defoe, speaking to reporters after practice Tuesday, rubbished the suggestion that the injury layoff may affect his chances at making Englands World Cup squad. England manager Roy Hodgson plans to name his 23-man roster on May 13. "I missed three games. It happens in football, players get injured," said the 31-year-old Defoe, who has won 55 caps for England. "But if you miss three games and that changes the fact that you could, I dont know, go to a tournament, thats crazy." Manager Ryan Nelsen says he has not heard from the English camp. "Not yet," he said. Defoe, for one, does think much talk is needed. "I dont feel like I need to sell myself to anyone because Ill just let my football do the talking. Ive done that since I made my professional debut at 17 ... Im sure the manager knows what I can do." Defoe said not only is he 100 per cent physically, he feels stronger than he did before. Toronto FC officials have said privately they had to put the brakes on Defoe, who has acknowledges he is not known for his patience during injury layoffs. Defoes final days at Tottenham were marred by another hamstring injury. "Its a case of just getting it (the hamstring) strong again. Maybe I didnt do that before," he said. "I think now Ive really given it time to heal," he added. Defoe said his style of plays lends itself to hamstring issues -- "sometimes I go from a standing still position to get up to full speed." Toronto has had a spate of hamstring injuries this season with midfielders Jonathan Osorio, Alvaro Rey and Dwayne De Rosario all missing action. The club has said having to train longer than usual on artificial turf because of the harsh winter has not helped matters. Ironically it would have liked to have been able to practise under the bubble on turf Tuesday because of a downpour. But with the bubble about to come down, the lighting system had been dismantled and so they endured the rain outside. The good news is that the walking wounded are returning after the bye week. Osorio is already back in action while Nelsen says Rey, De Rosario and centre back Doneil Henry (knee) are "very close" to returning. Nelsen says the only player definitely out for this weekends game is midfielder Jeremy Hall (Achilles). Striker Bright Dike (Achilles) is also a long-term injury absence. Star U.S. midfielder Michael Bradley, who has been nursing a variety of ailments, is also doing well. Injuries have hampered Nelsen in blending his squad, which features three new designated players in Defoe, Bradley and Brazilian striker Gilberto and as many as five other new starters since last season. Two weeks ago against Colorado, he was unable to assemble a fully healthy bench. While Toronto has given up seven goals in six games, it has scored just six with Defoe accounting for three of them Toronto is getting healthy at the right time. After three games in April, Toronto has six in May including a home-and-away series with the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Amway Canadian Championship. Three of the four league games are at home so May represents a chance to harvest points. With Bradley, Brazilian goalie Julio Cesar and possibly Defoe joining their national teams at the end of May ahead of the World Cup, points may be harder to come by later. While Defoe has not yet heard from Hodgson, Cesar says he reached out to Luiz Felipe Scolari to invite him to Toronto after reading that the Brazil coach had visited players in Europe. "I was a little bit jealous," Cesar said with a smile. WASHINGTON -- An already rough-and-tumble playoff series between the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls now has a full-blown fracas, an ejection and a Game 4 suspension for Nene. Air Jordan Retro 11 For Sale Cheap . What everyone will be watching when these clubs meet Sunday, with Washington leading the Eastern Conference series 2-1, is just how physical the play will get -- and whether things will escalate again. "Weve had scuffles all three games, basically. Youve got to make sure we dont lose our composure, where we get thrown out of the game like that. It doesnt matter who it is, we cant afford that," Washington coach Randy Wittman said after the Wizards loss Friday night. "So weve just got to do a better job. Hey, its very emotional. Emotional game, tough game." Nene was tossed with about 8 1/2 minutes left in the fourth quarter after wrapping both hands around the back of Jimmy Butlers head and neck as they stood so close their foreheads touched. Rod Thorn, the NBAs president of basketball operations, announced Saturday that Nene had been suspended one game without pay for head-butting and grabbing Butler "around the neck with both hands and attempting to throw him down." Butler made two key 3-pointers from there, helping the fourth-seeded Bulls win 100-97. "When you play physical ... things get hot," Nene said with a smile and a shrug Friday. During Washingtons victory at Chicago in Game 2, some lesser contretemps led to a total of four players getting called for technical fouls: Washingtons Bradley Beal and Trevor Ariza, and Chicagos Kirk Hinrich and Joakim Noah. So neither club seemed all that surprised at the rising temperature in Game 3. "Hes a guy, just like each one of us, hes a guy with a big ego," Wizards centre Marcin Gortat said about Nene. "Theres nobody in this locker room whos going to be pushed around like that. And thats just how he reacted. Does he deserve two technical fouls? I dont know. But at the end of the day, he got kicked out and we had to play without him." Added Beal: "It gets to the point where you just get pushed to the limit way too much, and I think Nene got pushed to the limit. Do we agree with what he did? Not necessarily, but he did it and we cant take it back." Noah, who has spent plenty of time jostling with Nene in the low block, called the ejection a "turning point" of Fridays game. Indeed, not only did Nene average a team-high 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in Washingtons wins in Games 1 and 2, but the teams entire approach changes when the 6-foot-11 Brazilian is on the floor. He provides big-body defence and soft-hands passing. He can score and rebound. Hes so influential that John Wall, Washingtons All-Star point guard, has called him the "X-factor." During the regular season, Washington won two of three games from Chicago, but lost at home 96-78 on April 5 without an injured Nene. The Wizards scored 26 points in the first half. As for what Game 4 would mean without Nene, Noah said Saturday before the official announcement, "Im not sure. I dont think it changes our mindset, though. Its a crucial game for us. All three games really came down to the end. Attention to detail is huge. The game in these situations is so mental. For us, its just about staying focused on the things that we can control." Asked whether he thought Nenes actions warranted a suspension, Noah said, "As a player, those arent things I can control. The only thing I can control right now is eating lunch and ice baths and sleeping and shooting free throws and things like that." All three games so far have been won by the visiting team, a pattern the Bulls would love to see continue Sunday, of course. "I cant tell you why thats happened," Wizards forward Trevor Ariza said. While Washingtons offence is particularly dependent on young guards Wall and Beal, the Bulls found some new sources of much-needed offence in Game 3: Mike Dunleavy scored 35 points, one shy of his NBA high, and Butler finished with 15, including a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 24 seconds to go. Wittman will want to come up with a way to change that Sunday, of course. What is not likely to change is the testy nature of this matchup. "It gets chippy," Bulls forward Taj Gibson said. "But youve got to be smart. Its playoff basketball. You can get ejected; you can get suspended. Youve got to keep your hands to yourself." Air Jordan 11 Retro Sneakers . The Canucks figured to be active prior to Wednesdays trade deadline, getting a jump on things the previous day when they dealt goaltender Roberto Luongo to the Florida Panthers for netminder Jacob Markstrom and forward Shawn Matthias. Air Jordan 11 Retro Womens . Signs of a turnaround have emerged in this series at Minnesota. Brian Roberts had three doubles and a triple for the first four-extra-base-hit game of his 14-year career, and the Yankees used their bullpen to preserve a 6-5 win over the Twins on Friday. http://www.efsfl.com/ . Matt Carkner got back into the Ottawa lineup, and made his presence felt right away by settling his clubs score in a one-sided fight with Rangers forward Brian Boyle. Only this time, the thousands in attendance fell silent at exactly 2:17 p.m. Fans, family members plus fellow and current drivers attended a solemn but also festive memorial Thursday to mark the exact 20th anniversary of Ayrton Sennas death at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. The Anaheim Ducks will start rookie goalie John Gibson again in Mondays Game 5 against the visiting Los Angeles Kings. Under Armour Womens Shoes Sale . Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau made the announcement on Sunday, a day after Gibson made 28 saves in his playoff debut in a 2-0, Game 4 victory. The second-round series between the Southern California rivals is tied at two games each. Boudreau also said that Matt Beleskey and Frederik Andersson would miss Game 5 with injuries and Jonas Hiller will be the back-up netminder. Mathieu Perreault will be a game-time decision. The 20-year-old Gibson was recalled by the Ducks from AHL Norfolk on Friday and was named to start ahead of Hiller with the Ducks down 2-1 in the series. Gibson became the youngest player in NHL history to record a shutout in his playoff debut. Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano was impressed with the rookie netminder. "I like his style. He has a pretty unique style in net. Hes a pretty calm, cool and collected guy," Cogliano told the Ducks website. Defenceman Bryan Allen was equally impressed with the debut performance. Houston will now have to decide whether to match the offer. Several photos of Parsons signing an offer sheet were posted on a Cyber Dust account controlled by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and the team early Thursday, when the NBAs moratorium on signing free agents ended. The photos, including one of Cuban posing with Parsons, appeared briefly just after midnight Dallas time. The Rockets have three days to match the offer, though it wasnt immediately clear if they would do so for the 25-year-old forward who has played for them the past three seasons. Parsons was a second-round pick out of Florida in the 2011 draft. Dallas got an agreement in place with Parsons even before small forwards Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James announced where they will play, a signal thatt the Mavericks are most likely out on the two most prominent free agents. Under Armour Basketball Shoes Womens. Anthony visited the Mavericks at the start of the free agency period, but Dallas owner Mark Cuban has acknowledged that he couldnt offer the forward a max contract. Parsons averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists last season for the Rockets. He has played 213 games, starting 207 of them, while averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists. In Dallas, he would be in a frontcourt with Dirk Nowitzki and recently reacquired Tyson Chandler. Nowitzki and point guard Devin Harris have already agreed on new contracts that will be able to be signed as early as Thursday. Chandler, part of the Mavericks only NBA title in 2011, rejoined Dallas in a trade from the New York Knicks. Shawn Marion, the primary small forward for Dallas the past five seasons, is a defensive specialist and unrestricted free agent. PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has an interesting take on how responsible he, or any quarterback, is for his teams won-loss record. Cheap New York Giants Jerseys China . He says quarterbacks are responsible for losses while teams should get credit for wins.Wins are the team, Foles said. Thats why you have to play together. That seems a little tough, even for the extremely humble Foles.I do it in a productive way, Foles said as his team prepares to face the New York Giants on Sunday night. I dont tear myself down, you never want to do that. But if I do make a mistake, why did I do that? And if I see that again, what am I going to do? I want to correct that so what used to be a mistake, is now a good play.Foles has made his share of good plays this season, but not the same way he did a year ago when he threw 27 touchdown passes with just two interceptions for a league-leading quarterback rating of 119.2.This year, there have been more mistakes. His eight turnovers (five interceptions, three fumbles) and an 82.5 quarterback rating have fueled doubters questioning whether hes the long-term answer for the Eagles.Foles teammates, especially wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, and coaches have defended the quarterbacks inconsistent play this season by pointing out the teams record. Were 4-1, and hes been our starter throughout, Eagles offensive co-ordinator Pat Shurmur said. So thats the overriding judgment. We dont judge him as much as we coach him to get better.Since he became the full-time starter in the middle of the 2013 season, when he replaced an injured Mike Vick and then kept the job, Foles record is 12-3.Again, Foles wants to spread the wealth. We won those games as a team. I go out and play for those guys, because I know theyre out there playing for me, he said. As a quarterback, you get a lot of credit and you get a lot of blame, thats all a part of it when you sign up to play the position.NOTES: Four Eagles have been ruled out of Sundays game with the Giants, while starting inside linebacker DeMeco is listed as questionable with a groin injury, meaning there is a 50-50 chance he will play. Ryans has played in 53 straight games dating back to 2011. The four players ruled out are centre Jason Kelce (sports hernia), wide receiver Brad Smith (groin), running back Chris Polk (hamstring) and linebacker Mychal Kendricks (calf). After trading sets, Gasquet trailed 4-3 in the decider but broke back to 4-4 in a game that went to seven deuces with Kukushkin constantly failing on his forehand shots.PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Sidney Crosby will be back. Evgeni Malkin too. After that, what happens to the Pittsburgh Penguins over another post-season disappointment is anybodys guess. Dan Bylsma, the winningest coach in franchise history, may be out of a job. Ray Shero, the general manager who spent the last half-decade unsuccessfully trying to replicate the success of 2009, could also be gone. When Crosby lifted the Stanley Cup in triumph on that warm night in Detroit five years ago, it was supposed to mark the beginning of hockeys next dynasty. That hasnt materialized. A handful of maddening springs later, it might be time to move on. Bylsma allowed as much Tuesday night after the Penguins fell to the New York Rangers in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, a 2-1 defeat that capped a stunning collapse after Pittsburgh grabbed a commanding 3-1 series lead. "You think about it being the last game," Bylsma said. While the Rangers exulted at one end of the Consol Energy Center ice after advancing to hockeys final four, the Penguins solemnly lined up for a handshake after losing a Game 7 at home for the third time in five seasons. This isnt the way it was supposed to go. Not this time. Despite losing over 500 man games to injury — easily the highest total in the NHL — Pittsburgh strolled to the Metropolitan Division title behind the steady and spectacular play of Crosby, who led the league in scoring and is a heavy favourite to win his second MVP award. After surviving a bumpy six-game series with plucky Columbus in the opening round, the Penguins appeared in total control after a 4-2 win in Game 4 against the weary Rangers. Then it all fell apart. A dismal 5-1 loss in Game 5 shifted momentum to the guys in the blue shirts. New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist did the rest, including 35 sublime saves in the deciding game. Defenceman Matt Niskanen called the debacle in Game 5 a "missed opportunity," one that could lead to significant change in a dressing room that has been among the most stable in the league. "When expectations are high and you ddont win, thats normal," Crosby said. Cheap New York Giants Jerseys. "Im sure there will be a lot of questions." At the moment, there dont appear to be a lot of answers. Crosby insists hes healthy but lacked his otherworldly sharpness at times, scoring just one goal in 13 playoff games. "It wasnt a lack of effort or competing or anything like that," he said. "Id love to tear it up every series, but its not always the case. It doesnt make it any easier, Ill tell you that. Its tough losing as it is but when youre unable to contribute as much as youd like, its even tougher." Maybe, but its become all too common for one of the NHLs marquee franchises. The Penguins have sold out every home game since Valentines Day in 2007 and play a brand of entertaining hockey that is overwhelmingly successful in the regular season but doesnt always translate in the tight-checking crucible of the playoffs. The leagues top power play during the regular season went just 1 for 20 with the man advantage against New York. Unable to generate much offence from in front of the net, the Penguins spent most of the last three games unsuccessfully peppering Lundqvist from long distance. Its a path that led only to frustration and an all-too-familiar result: the Penguins watching another team skate off the ice in celebration. It happened in 2010, when Pittsburgh fell to Montreal at home in Game 7. It happened last spring, when the Penguins failed to lead the Boston Bruins for a single second while getting swept out of the conference finals. Ray Shero doubled down after seeing his team silenced by the Bruins. He awarded Bylsma a two-year extension, signed Malkin and defenceman Kris Letang to long-term deals and brought back defenceman Rob Scuderi to give the blue line some heft. Different path. Same result. Only this time there will be no doubling down. There will be only change. "Its all tough," Malkin said. "We have great teammates here. We work hard. But 3-1 up in series and last three games we lost, its tough. See you next season, I dont know." Neither does anybody else. The rookie manager has made a habit of heaping praise on others when things are going well, and accepting criticism when they arent. But in the case of Hurtado, its what the coach is NOT saying that may be the secret to a superb run of form. METAIRIE, La. Cheap Air Max Outlet . -- Jairus Byrd was drawn to the Big Easy by New Orleans "winning culture" and an explosive offence, so much that the safety signed a six-year contract with the Saints. New Orleans efforts to make him a Saint began almost as soon as teams were allowed to contact agents of players on the free agent market. Though Byrd said other teams showed interest, it was ultimately up to him to let New Orleans have the first chance to sign him. They brought him in early Tuesday evening and shortly after, announced the two sides had agreed to terms. "The winning culture" put New Orleans over the top, Byrd said. "What coach (Sean) Payton has done and what Drew Brees has done here. Any time you have that explosive offence, it always helps." New Orleans 55 wins since 2009 are second-most in the NFL and the Saints have been to the post-season in four of the past five seasons. The offence, meanwhile, has finished No. 1 four times since 2006 and in the top five seven times. The Saints explosive offence really stood out to Byrd, who has 33 forced turnovers -- including 22 interceptions -- since entering the NFL five seasons ago. "If youre a guy on defence and you know a team is able to get leads on people, . that bodes well for guys like me who want to get turnovers and create turnovers because it makes another team one dimeensional," Byrd said. Sale Youth Air Max. "Thats a really big factor and what allowed me to weigh all my options and think about what the best situation was for myself." Hell get a chance now to play beside Kenny Vaccaro, the Saints first-round pick in 2013 whose hard-hitting style made an immediate impact in the defensive backfield. Vaccaro started 14 games as a rookie and finished with a sack, an interception and a forced fumble to go with 62 tackles. "Im really looking forward to seeing what he does really well," Byrd said. "And when he played against us, I know he made a lot of plays." Byrd saw firsthand just what hes about to join when the Bills, who drafted him in the second-round in 2009, lost in New Orleans 35-17 on Oct. 27. That day, the Saints finished with 386 total yards of offence and went 3-for-5 in the red zone. New Orleans defence, meanwhile, allowed only 299 total yards and just 5 of 13 on third downs. The Saints finished with one interception and had two fumble recoveries on four forced fumbles. It didnt hurt that the Superdome boasted its usual loud, energetic atmosphere. "Playing here last year, I saw how the atmosphere was," Byrd said. "It was electric. Theyre really behind their team. The Dome was rocking when I was here. They feed off that, and I think thats really big." Two and a half weeks removed from one of the greatest fights in MMA history, the Ultimate Fighting Championship heads to Barueri

Posted in IYH Forums by jokergreen0220 at 09:13, Jul 25 2017

Two and a half weeks removed from one of the greatest fights in MMA history, the Ultimate Fighting Championship heads to Barueri, Brazil for UFC Fight Night 29. Cheap Air Max 2017 . While no hardware is one the line for this event, there are a number of pivotal matchups in both the welterweight and flyweight divisions. Jordan Cieciwa is off this week for this article (probably still upset over fellow Winnipeg native Louis Fisette being ousted from the Ultimate Fighter last week) so Im riding solo. As always you shoot me a tweet on Twitter @LynchOnSports if you agree or disagree. As well feel free as well to leave your opinions in the comment section below. Demian Maia vs. Jake Shields Lynch A pair of ground specialists clash in the main event, as the Brazilian Maia battles Cesar Gracie student Shields. This match is intriguing because both fighters have been headed in opposite directions as of late. Back in 2010, Shields was considered a prized acquisition from the now defunct Strikeforce organization and after just one fight in the UFC (albeit a controversial decision win over Martin Kampmann at UFC 121), fought for the welterweight title against Georges St Pierre at UFC 129. Fast forward to today, the 34-year old has racked up a 2-2-1 record since his UFC debut, which included a first round knockout loss to Jake Ellenberger and a failed drug test against Ed Herman (Which caused that bout to be overturned). Even in his last victory over Tyron Woodley, UFC President Dana White was not impressed, going on his Twitter post-fight and writing “Woodley GOT Robbed!!!” The 35-year old Maia meanwhile has looked very impressive since his drop to welterweight, going a perfect 3-0 and dispatching the likes of Dong-Hyun Kim, Rick Story and Jon Fitch. The question is how will this fight play out? Both are well versed on the mat, with the edge going to Maia being a fourth degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt. Shields arguably has better standup and may want to keep the fight on the feet if hes worried about the Maias submission game. While many pundits are claiming this is 35-year-olds fight to lose, I think well see very hungry and desperate Shields, as he potentially faces unemployment. The former Strikeforce Middleweight champion should use his underrated wrestling to control the fight and dictate the pace, something that Maia hasnt been accustom to in his last three fights. Expect Shields to pull off the upset and prove critics wrong yet again. Shields via unanimous decision Erick Silva vs. Dong Hyun Kim Lynch Another intriguing welterweight matchup serves as the nights co-feature as Team Nogueira fighter Silva battles Korean standout Kim. After a string of first round finishes starting off his UFC career, the hype train came to a halt for the 29-year old Silva when he lost to Jon Fitch back at UFC 153. A lack of conditioning and wrestling in that unanimous decision loss proved to be the biggest detriments to “Jungle Boy” losing that fight. He bounced back in his last contest dispatching Jason High back in June with a first round submission at UFC on FUEL 10. Kim meanwhile is on a two-fight winning streak, successfully using his clinch game to control his opponents in both those unanimous decision victories. Whats interesting is Kim has never tapped out during his 21-fight career, while Silva boasts nine submission victories on his resume. Could we see a first for the Busan Team M.A.D member Kim? Its unlikely for a number of reasons. For starters the 31-year old Kim is one of the biggest fighters in the welterweight division and holds a three inch height and reach advantage over the Brazilian. He also possesses exceptional judo, being a fourth degree black belt. Much like the main event, we should see another upset and a fight playing out similarly to what Fitch imposed in his victory over Silva, controlling the Brazilian over three rounds for the decision win. Kim via unanimous decision Thiago Silva vs. Matt Hamill Lynch Two 205lb fighters go to war in a wide open Light Heavyweight division, as the Brazilian Silva takes on Ultimate Fighter 3 contestant Hamill. After a string of failed drug tests, the Blackzillians member Silva finally got back on the winning track at UFC on FUEL 10, knocking out former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion Rafael Cavalcante. Hamill meanwhile came out his 2011 retirement (after losing to Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 133) to defeat Canadian Roger Hollett at UFC 152. While the 36-year old Hamill does have the superior wrestling which could threaten Brazilian, Silva is just too good in all other areas. A combination of being a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and possessing some of the most devastating knockout power in the division, the fight doesnt bode well for the Ohio native. Expect Sao Carlos native to find his range sometime in the second round and knockout “The Hammer” Silva via second round knockout. Fabio Maldonado vs. Joey Beltran Lynch In a contest that has “Fight Of The Night” honors written all over it, 33-year old Maldonado takes on “The Mexicutioner” Beltran. With 23-knockouts between the two of them, its no secret this will be a standup affair, but the question becomes who will get the better of the exchanges? Despite losing to Glover Teixeira last October, the Brazilian showed that hes extremely durable in that fight and that should serve him well in this bout. You should see Maldonado display more technical boxing than his foe and connect on his chin sometime in the second round for the knockout win. Maldonado via second round TKO Rousimar Palhares vs. Mike Pierce Lynch After back to back losses against Alan Belcher and Hector Lombard, the Brazilian Palhares makes his welterweight debut against Mike Pierce. Physically these two fighters are identical in height and reach, but stylistically the ADCC silver medalist is far superior on the mat. Pierce is a former NCAA Division I wrestler and that should serve him well if hes able to keep Palhares against the cage and off the ground. It will be interesting to see how the weight cut affects the 33-year old as well, who at times was bullied in the middleweight division because of his size. Because Pierce is on a four-fight win streak and doesnt have to deal with a first time weight cut, I give him the nod over three rounds to take home a decision. Pierce via unanimous decision Raphael Assuncao vs. T.J. Dillashaw Lynch In what arguably is the most competitive matchup on the main card, 31-year old Assuncao goes to war with former NCAA Division I wrestler Dillashaw. Expect the Brazilian Assuncao to immediately try and take his American foe on the ground early on, as he boasts nine submission victories. For the TUF 14 runner up, its another chance to display his much improved striking, thanks to the addition of striking coach Duane Ludwig. Both fighters are on four-fight win streaks and could easily emerge as the next title challenger to current interim champion Renan Barao. Expect Dillishaw to use his wrestling and superior standup to earn himself a decision and a shot at the bantamweight title. Dillashaw via unanimous decision Undercard Picks: Dias, Alcantara, Cabral, Cariaso, Whiteley Also be sure to tune into the “Weigh-In” on TSN Radio 1290 Winnipeg every Saturday as myself, Jordan and Big Marv Timog go toe to toe discussing the hottest topics in MMA. Lewis persevered 16-14 in a back-and-forth tussle against Peter Snakebite Wright before Van Gerwen eased to a 16-9 win over Dave Chisnall, taking another step to winning a second title at the Blackpool event. The Stoke thrower missed four match darts and gave Wright hope of a late comeback before suddenly breaking his opponents throw to seal the deal. A sensational surge in the second half of the quarter-final handed Lewis a 14-11 lead, the first time either player had led by three legs. Watch Adrian Lewis defeat Peter Wright in the World Matchplay quarter-final Wright refused to wilt, hitting a nerveless double 16 to remain alive at 13-15. Lewis, with the darts in hand and a semi-final in sight, drew boos from the crowd for not attempting a 170 checkout then somehow allowed Wright to break. But with the 13th break of tthe match, the 2013 runner-up Lewis emphatically snapped Wrights momentum and sent him hurtling out of the tournament.
