NASHVILLE -- Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne has been cleared by doctors to increase his physical activity, and now Nashville has to decide whats next for the two-time Vezina Trophy finalist. Manchester Jersey . The Predators announced that Rinne had been cleared for the next step of his recovery after meeting with doctors earlier Monday. Coach Barry Trotz said a meeting was planned for later Monday to set a weekly plan for Rinne. "Our destination is to get Pekka back in the net at some point," Trotz said. "Whenever that happens, that happens. It feels a lot better than it was a month ago or six weeks ago." The goalie has been sidelined since arthroscopic surgery on his left hip Oct. 24 as a result of a bacterial infection. The infection developed in the same hip surgically repaired May 9 after last season. Rinne started practicing Feb. 19 and has worked a bit more each day. Rinne is 4-4-1 in the nine games he has played this season with a 2.31 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. He practiced again Monday said he feels really optimistic. "The next step is playing games, and hopefully that is really soon here," Rinne said. The Predators, who return from the Olympic break hosting Tampa Bay on Thursday, could have Rinne play some games soon in Milwaukee with their American Hockey League affiliate. Nashville is four points out of the Western Conferences final playoff spot with 23 games remaining. General manager David Poile said last week the Predators best move at the trade deadline could be getting Rinne back on the ice. Tellitlikeitis also won his season opener, a Pennsylvania Sires Stake, at Pocono Downs last month. Lothlorien has shared ownership of three previous Cup winners -- Well Said (2009), Rocknroll Hanover (2005) and Red River Hanover (2002). Trainer Jim Takter has only started two previous Cup entrants, both in 2012, and finished second with Time To Roll. Brett Miller has two previous Cup drives, finishing second in 2010 with We Will See. "He has wicked speed and hell take you to where you want to go in the mile," said Miller. "I definitely wanted to sit in with him this week (in the elim) and it worked out very well that the two horses I wanted to follow were in front of me." The three Cup elimination races were held Saturday to determine the field for the final. Takter will have to Cup entrants, the other being Lyonssomewhere, the 4-1 third choice who also was an elimination race winner. Lyonssomewhere, owned by Geoffrey LLyons Mound of Burford, Ont. CHICAGO -- Reto Berra had the jitters before his first NHL game. Jeremy Lamb Jersey . It just didnt show when he hit the ice. Berra made 42 saves and Kris Russell scored at 1:32 of overtime, lifting the Calgary Flames to a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night. "I was really nervous, but right before the game when I was sitting in here," Berra said, "I just said, Go out, play your game and have fun. You have nothing to lose. "I put that excitement and nerves into positive energy." Russells shot from the blue line clanked off the crossbar and past Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford, ending Calgarys 10-game losing streak in Chicago. The Flames won at the United Center for the first time since March 2008. "I saw a body in front and tried to get a hard shot off," Russell said. "I dont think hes seen it. Fortunately it went in." "The last few games weve played well but havent got rewarded," Russell added. "Tonight, we had a grinder-style game. Especially coming into a barn like this, I hope we can grab some momentum off this." Mike Cammalleri and Curtis Glencross scored in regulation for the Flames. Calgarys T.J. Galiardi missed on a second-period penalty shot. Chicagos Marian Hossa scored a power-play goal with 4:19 left in the third period to tie it at 2. Patrick Kane also scored for the Blackhawks, who had won three in a row. Crawford made 27 saves. The 26-year-old Berra was recalled from Abbotsford of the AHL on Saturday after the Flames waived Joey MacDonald. The 6-foot-4 Swiss goaltender was acquired in the trade that sent defenceman Jay Bouwmeester to St. Louis last April. Berra was sharp against the Blackhawks, making a handful of point-blank and flashy stops. "Im very proud for Reto," said Flames coach Bob Hartley, who has coached in Berras home country. "He played tonight the same way I saw him play a full year in Switzerland. Obviously, its not the same calibre, but the poise he showed throughout the game. "He never got rattled. The perfect control on every shot. The two shots that beat him were perfect shots. Great win." After a slow start this season offensively, Chicago had scored 24 times in its previous five games. But the Stanley Cup champions showed little of that explosive skill and tempo against Calgary. Although Chicago fired 44 shots at Berra, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville thought there werent enough quality opportunities. "We did put pucks at him, but we didnt get enough rebounds and we didnt get enough traffic," Quenneville said. "Certainly, he was pretty good at controlling those rebounds tonight as well." The Blackhawks outshot the Flames 18-11 in the scoreless first. Berra coolly swept away Chicagos routine chances and turned in a couple of tough stops, including a quick glove save on Andrew Shaw with 5:00 left in the period. Calgarys best chance came with 1:28 left, but Dennis Widemans shot capping a 3-on-2 break was smothered by Crawford. Galiardi was awarded his penalty shot -- the first for Calgary and first against Chicago this season -- at 4:06 of the second after he was hooked from behind on a breakaway by Hossa. He fired wide on the attempt. Kane opened the scoring, beating Berra on Chicagos 23rd shot at 6:25 of the second. After cutting across the top of the Calgary zone, Kane moved to the left faceoff circle and wristed a shot through a screen that fooled Berra on the short side. Cammalleri tied it just 50 seconds later. Left open at the edge of the crease, Cammalleri was able to deflect Widemans shot from the right point in midair and past Crawford. Cammalleri has seven points in seven games since returning from an upper-body injury that sidelined him for the start of the season. Glencross gave Calgary a 2-1 lead at 2:16 of the third on a shot that sailed past Crawfords glove, clanked off the right post and landed in the net. Glencross cut in from left wing and gained a step on Chicago defenceman Sheldon Brookbank. He fired from the circle and Crawford fanned on a glove save attempt. NOTES: Calgary also recalled D Chad Billins from Abbotsford, but he was a healthy scratch on Sunday. ... The Blackhawks were set to leave for Washington following the game, and will visit the White House on Monday to be recognized by President Barack Obama for their 2013 Stanley Cup title. ... Chicago C Michal Handzus missed his fifth game with an upper-body injury, but has resumed skating. ... As for regular Olympic spectators, theyre being warned that most travel insurance policies wont cover acts of terrorism or war. The Games in southern Russia, which run from Feb. 7-23, are being staged amid unprecedented security and under global warnings of danger. To figure out two things NHL general managers will be discussing at their annual March meeting, look no further than the controversial game the Los Angeles Kings and Detroit Red Wings played in mid-January. First, the Red Wings scored the tying goal after officials missed the puck hitting the protective netting, then the Kings wound up losing in a shootout. That could affect playoff positioning in the Eastern and Western Conferences, and thats a concern for everyone. No different than many fans, GMs hate to see a game end on an incorrect call and generally dont like to see one end in a shootout. So its only natural that altering or extending overtime and expanding video review will be hot topics on the agenda for meetings Monday through Wednesday in Boca Raton, Fla. When it comes to overtime, the hope is to have fewer games even reach the shootout, which was instituted after the 2004-05 lockout as a way of eliminating ties. Since then, 13.3 per cent of all regular-season games have gone to one, and thats seen as too much. "I would prefer for our game to be decided by playing hockey instead of the skill part of the game, which is the shootout," Jim Nill of the Dallas Stars said. "Its really tough. You can play a great game, play a great overtime and then you go to a shootout and just because you lose a shootout it feels like youve lost the game -- and you have, and it hurts because you played such a good game. I would rather lose a game by playing the game." Through Saturday, 121 of 962 games this season have gone to a shootout (12.57 per cent). Each team has participated in at least four, while the Washington Capitals lead the league with 15 of them through 64 games. A handful of general managers said in recent weeks that there was an appetite to reduce the number of shootouts by making some changes to overtime. Detroit GM Ken Holland has long sought adding time or a three-on-three element to overtime, and it has come time that Don Maloney of the Phoenix Coyotes figures more members of the group are "open-minded to reviewing it and discussing it." "In the past, it was generally touched on but deferred," Maloney said. "And I think as you go on with the parity of the league, I think we all have to take a harder look." Jim Rutherford of the Carolina Hurricanes usually sits near Holland at these meetings and is in favour of his proposals to change overtime. After plenty of talk over the years, perhaps more will get on board. "I think were heading that way," Rutherford said. "Its been talked about a long time, this is not something new. I dont know how many minutes itll end up being -- the total minutes in overtime. Thats really where the big discussion will come. But I think the fact that this has been discussed for a few years now, I think its gaining some momentum going into this meeting." What that momentum will turn into remains to be seen. Rutherford and Holland would like five minutes of the already-established four-on-four followed by five minutes of three-on-three, while Doug Armstrong of the St. Louis Blues voiced support for simply making four-on-four overtime longer. But, as Doug Wilson of the San Jose Sharks knows, change in the NHL tends to go in "phases." So its possible that the first change to overtime is a very subtle one: teams changing ends like they do in the second period so that theres a longer way to go for players to get off the ice for line changes. "I would be a hundred per cent in support," Maloney said. "If you look at the second period and the (long) line changes how often mistakes are made, and bad line changes lead to rushes. All of a sudden you do that in overtime with four people and the tiredness of the game, I think thats a natural evolution, myself. I think thats the first step." Red Wings coach Mike Babcock brought that up in Sochi after seeing overtime in the womens gold-medal game between Canada and the United States. Mistakes led to three penalties and then a power-play goal 8:10 into overtime. "The NHL looks at that right there, we want overtime to be over in a hurry, all you do is flip ends, make it as hard as you can," Babcock said while at the Olympics. "Its harder on the long change." Another subjject that will get plenty of discussion is video review, which is currently limited to the situation room in Toronto determining if a goal was good or not. Reggie Lewis Jersey. . Even though it was just one instance, that Jan. 18 game between the Red Wings and Kings is example A for expanding review. "You can count on one hand how many times they miss a puck hitting the net, but that specific case and it ended up as a goal, yeah, it probably shouldve been (reviewed) -- maybe if the video department had that authority, it wouldve been used," Maloney said. "And I think we all agree that in that case that was just wrong, and we need to correct that." Several general managers cautioned that too much replay can be a bad thing. Just as its being debated in baseball and football, the biggest pitfall to more video reviews is the time they can take. "Our game is part of momentum and keeping the game going," Rutherford said. "But at the same time, the league has always said that they want to get goals right. We saw an example (in Detroit) where it had nothing to do with the guidelines of how the league proceeds, but we didnt get one right. "So thats something that well discuss, Im sure. But theres a fine line there: How many times can you review things in a game without slowing it down to change the time of a game another 15 minutes." In that same vein, Nill would like to see "tweaks" to video review in important cases but doesnt want the NHL to become a "robotic" game with frequent calls to the situation room. Still, theres a ground swell to at least add replay in isolated cases, like on plays goals are scored on. That may not mean instituting a challenge system for coaches right away but perhaps something more simple. "It would be nice to just have a monitor in the penalty box for the official to gather as much information to make the right call because theyre closest to the action like they have in other leagues," Wilson said, pointing to the model used in the NFL and NBA. Some things, like goaltender interference, would require a stricter interpretation to be subject to video review. Penalties, like players putting the puck over the glass or getting a double-minor called for high-sticking, would fall into another category to be considered. "I think everything thats critical to the outcome of the game, if its conveniently available, we should review," Columbus GM Jarkko Kekalainen said. "Not to disturb the flow of the game and the time of each game as a whole -- we dont want games to last four hours or anything like that. But with the technology these days I think that there should be some kind of a system where all the critical plays can be reviewed so that we dont see the (wrong) outcomes." With three days of meetings scheduled on Floridas east coast, general managers are expected to delve into a host of other topics, including the regulation -- or elimination -- of goaltender fights and the impact of the falling Canadian dollar on next years salary cap. At Decembers board of governors meeting, the 2014-15 cap was estimated at just above US$71 million, rising from the $64.3 million ceiling for this season. Kings GM Dean Lombardi told the Los Angeles Times that he and his colleagues were advised it could be as low as $US68 million as the Canadian dollar continues to fall. As of Saturday, the loonie was worth roughly 90 cents U.S., after being above 95 cents midway through 2013. Goalie fighting is expected to at least be touched on after it was broached at Novembers meeting in Toronto that followed the infamous incident between Ray Emery of the Philadelphia Flyers and Braden Holtby of the Capitals. Rutherford and Maloney indicated they believed the issue was a bit overblown at the time. "Really theyre so rare, arent they? That was an isolated (incident)," Maloney said. "If we start to see goalie fights every other game, yeah, OK, maybe theres a problem. I dont see it being a problem. That was a one-time incident that nobody liked, but I think our officials and the people that review the games, they do a pretty good job of cleaning up anything thats outside the rules. So I dont see a real mandate to start over-regulating the game in that area." NFL Jerseys China ' ' '

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with Henry Melton, the third defensive lineman to join them in free age

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with Henry Melton, the third defensive lineman to join them in free agency since the release of franchise sacks leader DeMarcus Ware. Custom Pacers Jersey . A person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press that the team was working on final details of the contract Tuesday night. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because an agreement had not been announced. Melton missed most of last season with Chicago after tearing a ligament in his left knee against Pittsburgh on Sept. 22. He will be reunited with former Bears defensive co-ordinator Rod Marinelli, who now has the same title in Dallas. The fifth-year player was a high school running back in the Dallas area before becoming a defensive tackle with the Texas Longhorns. The 27-year-old Melton has 15 1/2 sacks and 63 tackles in 48 career games, including 32 starts. The Bears drafted him in the fifth round in 2009, and he missed his rookie season with an ankle injury. Melton was arrested in December in Grapevine, where he went to high school, on charges of assault and public intoxication after police say he refused to leave a bar and fought with employees. Police say Melton was accused of punching the bar manager in the face and biting his arm. Meltons agent, Jordan Woy, said at the time that his client didnt start the altercation. The Cowboys released Ware, their star defensive end, just as free agency opened. Defensive tackle Jason Hatcher signed with Washington after leading the Cowboys with 11 sacks last season. A day after Wares release, the Cowboys signed defensive end Jeremy Mincey and defensive tackle Terrell McClain. Mincey is the teams current career leader with 20 sacks, now followed by Melton. Next on this list with 10 is George Selvie, who wasnt even on the Dallas roster when training camp started last season and ended up second to Hatcher with seven sacks on an injury plagued unit. Marinelli came to Dallas a year ago as defensive line coach with then-defensive co-ordinator Monte Kiffin after Lovie Smith was fired in Chicago. He was promoted when Kiffin was reassigned after the Cowboys gave up the most yards in franchise history and finished last in the NFL in total defence. MLS said Thursday it had assumed operation of the team, which had the second-worst record in the league last year at 6-20-8 and averaged a league-low attendance of 8,366 at home. Vergara and Fuentes have controlled the Mexican club Chivas Guadalajara since 2002 and had a 50 per cent interest in Chivas USA when it was created in 2004 and started play the following year. The pair took operating control of Chivas USA in August 2012 when they bought out former partners Antonio and Lorenzo Cue, who had been running the team. "The original plan which we came up with in 2004 and executed in 05 was to extend one of soccers most venerable brands into the United States," MLS Commissioner Don Garber said during a conference call. "The concept was to take a team that in essence represented the hopes and dreams of Mexican soccer fans both in Mexico and the United States and try to extend that here to the United States. "Ultimately the concept didnt work out," he added. "I came up with the idea with folks here at the league. I dont believe it was the concept as much as there was some executional issues." The concept of a league owning a team is not unprecedented. An entity owned by Major League Baseball bought the Montreal Expos in 2002, moved the club to Washington, D.C., for the 2005 season and sold it to the Lerner family the following year. The NHL had operational control of the Phoenix Coyotes from 2009-13. MLS said Wilmer Cabrera, hired as coach on Jan. 9, will remain oon the job. C.J. Miles Jersey. The league said it will sell the team to an ownership group committed to keeping the team in the Los Angeles area. Garber hopes to have a deal in place by the end of the year. "Sometimes it takes time to get this done. Were not in a rush," Garber said. Garber said the new ownership group must intend to build a new stadium, and he mentioned the site of the L.A. Sports Arena as a possibility. Chivas USA shares the StubHub Center with the Los Angeles Galaxy. David Beckham was not considered a possible buyer. The former Galaxy star exercised his option to purchase an expansion team in Miami. "I wonder if he would have thought differently if his option execution date was a year from now versus a year ago," Garber said. The team will use the Chivas USA name this year, then will get a new name and logo along with new owners. "When Angelica and I gained full operational control of the team for the first time 15 months ago, we were hopeful we would be able to turn it around," Vergara said in a statement. "However, there is only one Chivas de Guadalajara, and we have realized that it will require more time, further resources, and a level of commitment that would divert too much of our focus from our other business interests." Two former Chivas USA youth coaches, Daniel Calichman and Theothoros Chronopoulos, filed a discrimination lawsuit against the team last May in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming they were fired because they arent Mexican or Latino. "Its been resolved. Its no longer a pending case." Garber said. "It was resolved very recently." NFL Jerseys China ' ' '

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork. Nike Air Max 90 Grey Orange .com) - Michigan State, Michigan, Syracuse and Florida were supposed to have down years. But this down? Meanwhile, defending champion Connecticut, SMU, Nebraska and UCLA have also started slowly after being ranked in the preseason polls. Only two of the eight teams listed above made my initial NCAA Tournament projection bracket (listed below), but the start of conference play will allow these squads to play themselves back into the tournament discussion. And why cant they? Seven of these teams sport upper-tier head coaches, with several of them Hall- of-Famers or future Hall-of-Famers. Nebraskas Tim Miles is the lone omission. Theres still plenty of time to fix the kinks. And if any of these teams play their way into the tournament dont be surprised if any of them makes a run. Since the tournament expanded to 68 teams in 2011, five double-digit power conference teams have reached the Sweet 16 -- Stanford (10 - 2014), Tennessee (11 - 2014), Oregon (12 - 2013), North Carolina State (11 - 2012) and Marquette (11 - 2011). Double-digit power conference teams are also 13-13 in the second round. Although the Big Ten is down, if Michigan State, Nebraska and Michigan can finish around the 9-9, 10-8 range in conference, that should get them in, although the Spartans are in a better position than the Wolverines and Huskers. The same could be said for ACCs Syracuse, SECs Florida and Pac-12s UCLA. Connecticut and SMU may have a tougher task. Theyll most likely have to sport better in-conference records because the league theyre in arent as deep as the Big Ten, ACC, SEC or Pac-12. Connecticut and SMU might have to get to 12-6 or 13-5 to receive an at-large bid. The Mustangs went 12-6 in the AAC last season and werent selected into the tourney field. Michigan might be the most erratic team of the bunch. John Beilein had to replace four major components and the top two scorers from last years Elite Eight team, but the Wolverines still have versatile scorer Caris LeVert and the 3-point shooting ability of Zak Irvin. They were a top-20 team in the preseason polls, but a mid-December swoon has Michigan scrambling for answers. The Wolverines had a fine showing at the Legends Classic in late November at Barclays Center, narrowly falling to Villanova in the title game. But they dropped four straight coming off a home win against Syracuse on Dec. 2. Michigan suffered a head-scratching home loss to NJIT (RPI 190) before following with another clunker in Ann Arbor to Eastern Michigan. Michigan was routed at Arizona and fell to SMU on Dec. 20 at Crisler Center. The Wolverines opened Big Ten play with a home overtime win against Illinois, but followed that up with a road loss at Purdue. The Spartans are without three starters and the top two scorers from their Elite Eight squad a year ago. Coach Tom Izzo said before the season that his team has upside, but theyve yet to play up to it. That was evident in a 71-64 overtime loss to Texas Southern (RPI 124) on Dec. 20. The Spartans began their league slate with a double-overtime loss to Maryland in what couldve been a solid win to put on their resume. Jacob Kurtzs accidental last-second tip-in of Devon Bookerts miss in a loss to in-state rival Florida State on Wednesday has exemplified Floridas season. Also Wednesday, Daniel Hamiltons trio of free throw misfires in the waning seconds of UConns loss to Temple in overtime was a perfect description of the Huskies year. They just havent been able to close. UConn had Texas beat until Jonathan Holmes knocked down a left corner 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to lift the Longhorns on Nov. 30. The same result happened in its next game when Jack Montagues late triple lifted Yale past the Huskies. The Gators and Huskies clashed Saturday in Gainesville, with the Huskies picking up a much-needed victory. The quartet of Scottie Wilbekin, Casey Prather, Will Yeguette and Patric Young set a school record with 120 career wins, 13 NCAA Tournament victories and four straight Elite Eight appearances -- 2013 Final Four visit. But those are four stalwarts Florida no longer has. The Gators have looked a lot better since a 3-4 start, rattling off four double-digit victories in a row prior to the FSU and UConn defeats. They dropped a 69-67 decision to in-state rival Miami-Florida in their second game of the season and lost a pair in the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament -- Georgetown and North Carolina. UF also held a 39-24 halftime advantage against Kansas, but was outscored 47-26 over the final 20 minutes en route to a 71-65 defeat. Florida has a trio of talented guards in Kasey Hill, Eli Carter and Michael Frazier to go along with Dorian-Finney Smith. Its the development of former McDonalds All-American Chris Walker, though, that might propel UF into the Big Dance. Hes yet to show the potential, but its time for him to make his mark. He was suspended for three games earlier this year for a violation of team rules after having to wait until the conclusion of the first semester to see court time last season. A year removed from a postseason ban due to poor APR scores, Connecticut quickly made up for lost time by hoisting its fourth NCAA Title since 1999 last season. But gone is Shabazz Napier. The Huskies still have Napiers running mate from a year ago, Ryan Boatright, and the shot-swatting presence of Amidah Brimah. NC State transfer Rodney Purvis is also a key cog. Due to being in a poor league, UConn scheduled a tough non-conference slate that included Duke, Texas, Florida and Stanford. The Huskies have to beat Stanford later this month to get some resume credibility with a lack of opportunities in the AAC. Two years ago Michael-Carter Williams led Syracuse to the Final Four and Tyler Ennis helped the Orange to a 28-6 mark a year ago. Thats a pair of NBA first- round talents. This season at point guard? Well, another freshman, but Kaleb Joseph still has a lot to learn. Joseph had his best game of the season Dec. 20 in an overtime loss to Villanova. He recorded 10 points and 10 assists, but that was after an eight-turnover performance against Louisiana Tech. The Orange dont own any bad losses like Michigan or Michigan State and a victory over Iowa may turn into something by seasons end. In potential games to boost their resume, Syracuse fell to California in the semifinals of the 2K Classic, at Michigan, at home to St. Johns and at Villanova. The expectations for the Mustangs in June were a lot higher than they were in early November. That was before Emmanuel Mudiay, arguably the No. 1 point guard in the country and a top-five pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, decided to take his talents to China. In September, it was found that Texas Tech transfer Jordan Tolbert would lack the necessary hours to graduate from SMU in one year. He will not play for the school this season. SMUs starting big man Markus Kennedy was then ruled ineligible for the first semester in mid-November, but was cleared to return on Dec. 19. The talent is still there to make the tournament. Nic Moore, Sterling Brown and Keith Frazier make up a formidable backcourt. Like Syracuse, SMU doesnt have any bad losses. The Mustangs began 2-3 with losses at Gonzaga, at Indiana and home against Arkansas, but it ripped off eight consecutive victories prior to losing at Cincinnati -- a critical chance in conference to put a top-50 win on the resume. For the last two seasons Kyle Anderson was a 6-foot-9, do-everything guard/forward for UCLA, leading the team in rebounds (8.8 rpg) and assists (6.5 apg) to go along with 14.6 points per game. Zach LaVine and Jordan Adams were also NBA first-round picks that the Bruins had to replace. UCLA, which advanced to the Sweet 16 in coach Steve Alfords first season, is led by his son Bryce. The Bruins are also guided by senior Norman Powell and talented freshman Kevon Looney. UCLA has yet to post a signature win and lost the first two games of its Battle 4 Atlantis tournament to Oklahoma and North Carolina. The Bruins have also recently lost to Gonzaga at home, Kentucky in Chicago, at Alabama and suffered a 71-39 blowout loss to Utah in the early stages of Pac-12 play. Nebraska was predicted to finish last in the Big Ten last season but instead ended fourth in the standings. With loftier expectations this season, its been a different story. The Huskers dropped a home game to Incarnate Word on Dec. 10 and fell to Hawaii in the Diamond Head Classic. Nebraska also has losses at Rhode Island and home to Creighton. Its lone key win was a double- overtime thriller against Cincinnati on Dec. 13. Nebraska has the talent to make a move in the Big Ten, Terran Petteway and Shavon Shields make up a solid duo, but this is uncharted territory for the program. Ultimately, five of the eight teams listed could make the tournament. Just too much talent and coaching experience for these squads to not make the Big Dance. I also think the bubble could be rather weak this season. Nebraska, UCLA, Connecticut and SMU could be in trouble. Nebraska isnt used to being in this position, while the Bruins, Huskies and Mustangs may have problems because the conference theyre in. But UConn is likely the best team in the AAC and should get in by winning its conference tournament. Notes: RPI rankings are as of Jan. 4. Projected bracket features predicted conference champions. When Kevin Martin and Jennifer Jones won the season-ending Players Championship, many rinks – especially on the mens side – had played their last game together. A legend retired, a skip left his Brier-winning team, old friends reunited and the best stayed together. With this being an Olympic year, many curlers felt it was necessary to join a new squad at seasons end in order to have a better shot at competing in the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. With all the changes, which rink do you think is the favourite going into next season and beyond? Lets start from the beginning. Going into the mens world championships in Beijing, China earlier this month, Canadian champion Kevin Koe announced that he was leaving his team to join a new rink next season, comprised of Marc Kennedy and Ben Hebert from Martins team as well as Brent Laing from Glenn Howards rink. This group is an interesting one. They definitely have a lot of experience as Kennedy and Hebert won Olympic gold with Martin back in 2010, while Laing captured world titles as Howards second in 2007 and 2012. Laing and Hebert will remain in their familiar positions, but Kennedy will be bumped up to third stones after spending the last 11 years throwing in the two hole. Is Koe the favourite despite a third who has never played the position professionally? As a result of his team finding new homes and – more importantly – a lack of desire to devote four years to an Olympic run, curling legend Kevin Martin retired at seasons end. Martin played 26 seasons, racking up four Briers, one world championship and, of course, Olympic gold in 2010. Pat Simmons, Carter Rycroft and Nolan Thiessen will return to the Brier in 2015 as Team Canada after winning the national championship this season with Koe at the helm. With Koe jumping ship, the threesome were able to convince John Morris to join them as their skip. Morris had previously skipped Jim Cotter, Tyrel Griffith and Rick Sawatsky to the finals at the 2014 Brier where they lost to Koe. The 35-year-old, who had planned to take a year off from curling unless a good opportunity presented itself, wiill play a limited schedule due to work commitments next season. http://www.discoveryukshoes.com/nike-air-max-90-best-color.html. Hes a two-time Brier champion (2008, 2009), a world champion (200 and an Olympic champion (2010). Will Morris be able to keep this team back at the same level? Another veteran skip on the Grand Slam circuit also made news recently. Glenn Howard, 51, will reunite with an old friend next year, as Richard Hart will come out of retirement to play third. The pair were able to capture a Brier and world championship together back in 2007 before Hart decided to leave the game in 2011. Howard is also bringing in Jon Mead to replace Laing at second after he played third for Jeff Stoughtons rink for the past five seasons. Craig Savill will remain the teams lead. After a disappointing year for Howard, will there be a revival of past success with these changes in 2014-2015? Then there is Jeff Stoughton, who had his entire team leave him this season. Mead went to Howard, Mark Nichols left to throw third stones for Brad Gushue (they won Olympic gold in 2006 together) and Reid Carruthers will skip his own squad next year. With Morris taking the Team Canada position, Stoughton had to start from scratch. According to the Winnipeg Free Press, the 50-year-olds new rink will be comprised of Rob Fowler at third, Alex Forrest at second and Connor Njegovan at lead. Can Stoughton surprise some people with this new group? One of the few teams that is staying pat is Brad Jacobs Sault Ste. Marie rink. The foursome is coming back for another shot at Olympic glory. Will they continue to roll or will an Olympic hangover set in after reaching the top of the sport at such a young age? As seen above, Gushue will have a new/old look next year. Does he have what it takes to get back to the top of the sport with the move? Then theres a few under-the-radar teams that may surprise some people. Is there a chance Mike McEwen, who finished atop the money standings this season, Jim Cotter, John Epping or Steve Laycock could make some noise on the curling circuit? It should be an interesting season of rock throwing next winter. With all the changes, which rink do you think is the favourite as we prepare for another run at Olympic gold? As always, its Your! Eller said the Oilers were a "junior team" that was "all over the place" before Edmontons 4-3 victory over Montreal on Tuesday night, Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins took offence to Ellers comments and used it to motivate his youthful team. "When youve got some young player whos trying to get his feet wet calling an organization a junior team, people take notice," said Eakins. "I knew it was going to turn. It makes for great banter in our dressing room. "That is a total hockey god thing. Im sure that young man has learnt his lesson, and I highly doubt youll see anything like that out of his mouth again." Eller, Montreals leading goal-scorer, had only one shot on net and didnt earn any points in the loss. "Hes a young player," said Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien of Eller. "I think hell learn from that. He made inappropriate comments." Ales Hemsky and Ladislav Smid both scored in the second period for Edmonton (3-6-1) to tie the game 2-2. Jeff Petry and Ryan Jones then had back-to-back goals in the third to give the Oilers a 4-2 lead. Tomas Plekanec and Brendan Gallagher struck in the first period to give Montreal (5-4-0) the lead and Brian Gionta scored with three seconds left to play. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was at the heart of Edmontons turnaround with two assists. "I got a huge momentum boost from (Eakins) talk between periods," said Nugent-Hopkins. "That was big for us. I thought we responded well. "Its what we needed at that point. We were losing battles, we werent playing with the passion that we need to win games in that situation." With the win, the Oilers ended a six-game road trip on a high. They went 2-3-1 on that stretch, and sit in last place in the Pacific Division. Plekanec put the Canadiens on the board first when he scored a power-play goal at 16:36 of the firrst period. Clippers Jersey. Andrei Markov started the play, showing great vision with a diagonal cross-ice pass from the blue-line. Plekanec made no mistake slotting home his fourth goal of the season between Devan Dubnyks legs. Rookie Michael Bournival got an assist on the play. Gallagher increased Montreals lead less than two minutes later. Gallagher intercepted a poor clearance by the Oilers Jones and beat Dubnyk glove-side with a quick wrist shot. Edmonton answered with two goals of its own in quick succession. Hemsky scored the first at 12:50 of the second period, getting around Alex Galchenyuk with ease and beating Price above the shoulder. Smid then tied the game 2-2 with his first of the year, when he put the rebound of a Nugent-Hopkins shot into a gaping net at 15:37. Edmonton completed the comeback when Petry scored at 7:59 of the third. Nugent-Hopkins pretended to shoot on a 2-on-1, but instead dished the puck to Petry who made no mistake from close range. Jones put the game out of reach, scoring the eventual game-winner at 9:57. Brian Gionta scored a late consolation goal for the Canadiens with three seconds remaining. "We cant expect to play one period and win," said Gionta. "We had a great start, we did what we wanted to, we stuck to our game plan for the first period, and we didnt adjust after that. "We have to do a better job of finding a way to play 60 minutes." The injury-plagued Canadiens were without the services of Max Pacioretty, Brandon Prust and Daniel Briere. All three forwards sustained injuries last week. Edmonton was missing star forward Taylor Hall and veteran Ryan Smyth. Hall, who injured his knee on Saturday in the Oilers win over Ottawa, is expected to be out four weeks. Rookie defenceman Nathan Beaulieu, who was sent down to Hamilton on the weekend, was recalled by the Canadiens and played in place of Jarred Tinordi. Beaulieu finished the game with three blocked shots and 11:26 of ice time. NFL Jerseys China ' ' '

Avery Bradley Celtics Swingman Jersey .30pm - just like every other match this season, as they stand on the verge of clinching the title. Enriques side go to Andalucia a point clear of Real Madrid, knowing victory at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes would deliver a 24th La Liga crown.Granada, meanwhile, in theory have nothing to play for after securing their top-flight status with a 4-1 win at Sevilla last weekend. Enrique, though, remains focussed on the job in hand. Gary Cotterill reports from Madrid, where the city is gearing up just in case Real Madrid can better Barcelonas result and finish the day as champions We are planning for the last league game just like we did for the previous 37 and it will be difficult, for sure, the Barcelona manager said at a press conference.I am sure that in some moments of the game we will suffer, because Granada will attack, so we have to be focused. These types of games can have a lot of tension and you have to relax the players. La Ligas final-day title dramas Cruyff, Beckham, Godin - when La Liga glory came down to final day Barca went out at the quarter-final stage of the Champions League to Atletico Madrid, but will take on Sevilla in the final of the Copa del Rey next weekend.Enrique hopes they will do so still chasing a domestic double and feels the title would be reward for his teams consistency. The league title shows your level throughout the season, and this season has shown La Liga is the toughest league in Europe, he added. Barcelonas coach Luis Enrique wants his players to treat Saturdays game at Granada as just another match As of today I am satisfied with what the team has achieved, but the grades come when the season ends. There had been reports Granada goalkeeper Ivan Kelava suggested incentive briefcases were on offer from Real Madrid to defeat Barcelona, which the Croatia international was quick to refute. Watch how Lionel Messi helped Barcelona beat Real Betis on Saturday However, Granada head coach Jose Gonzalez has dismissed the reports of any briefcases in the offing.I have to face the match with the best possible mood and forget the bickering, he said.Throwing false accusations does seem very unfair and I think that should be punished. Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork. Anthony Mason Knicks Jersey .com) - Darren Helm recorded the tie-breaking goal 7:40 into the third period as the surging Detroit Red Wings rallied for a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers at Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings trailed 2-0 deep into the second period before getting goals from Riley Sheahan and Luke Glendening just over a minute apart. Jimmy Howard stoned the Rangers over the final two frames, finishing with 26 saves in Detroits sixth win in seven games and the 500th of head coach Mike Babcocks career. (Howard) just put up a wall of plywood there, said Babcock. If they get three (goals), we dont win, so it was a real good job by Howie in the final 40 minutes. Cam Talbot stopped 31-of-34 shots for New York, which received early tallies from Kevin Klein and Rick Nash in its second straight loss. Talbot was mostly sharp filling in for a resting Henrik Lundqvist, but allowed two goals within a 61-second span in the second period that erased the Rangers 2-0 lead. Sheahan spun around and fired a shot past Talbot from close range to get Detroit on the board with 5:46 remaining in the middle session. The Red Wings kept up the pressure following the ensuing faceoff, with Glendening netting the equalizer by alertly knocking through a puck that Talbot couldnt control after temporarily stopping a Detroit rush. We were playing a pretty solid game. They got a couple odd-man rushes at the end of the (second) period that cost us, said Rangers defenseman Marc Staal. The Red Wings then dominated the early stages of the third, getting the go- ahead score when Tomas Tatar split the New York defense with a pass that Helm took in and landing a wrister over Talbots glove. Howard made the lead stand by making three saves in the final minute, including a close-range denial of Lee Stempniak with Talbot pulled for an extra skater. Klein opened the scoring midway through a strong first period for the Rangers, with the defenseman backhanding in the rebound of his own initial attempt that was blocked in front of the Detroit net. Nash made it a 2-0 lead just over five minutes later by beating a defenseless Howard on a breakaway that started with a crisp outlet pass from Derick Brassard. Hamiltons lap around the brand-new Sochi Autodrom was clocked in 1 minute, 38.513 seconds, which beat Rosbergs lap by 0.2 seconds. This 3.637-mile (5.853- kilometer), 18-turn street circuit is located on an Olympic venue. Sochi hosted the XXII Olympic Winter Games in February. Pole is a great place to start, said Hamilton, who will start first in a grand prix for the 38th time in his F1 career. An amazing job done by the team, constantly improving and moving forwards this year. Thanks to them. Were able to be on the front row quite often. Its great to come here (to Sochi). Its a beautiful place, and the weather has been amazing. Really enjoying driving this track. On his final run, Bottas had the quickest time in the first two sectors, but he got loose and ran wide in the final two turns, finishing 0.407 seconds behind Hamilton. I risked it a bit too much in the last two corners, went a little bit wide, and when you go offline, its really slippery like everyone saw. and that was it, Bottas said. Hamilton, who has won the last three grand prix (Italy, Singapore and Japan), enters Sundays Russian GP with a 10-point lead over Rosberg. Every race is important at the moment, Rosberg said. We have four to go. They are all just as important. Today, Lewis was quicker - all weekend really. So, Ive been working hard to try to get close but didnt manage to get closer than those two tenths (of a second) now, but thats the way it is. I need to accept that. Mercedes has swept the front starting row nine times this season, including five straight grand prix, a streak that began in Belgium on the fourth weekend in August. It wasnt the easiest session, Hamilton said of qualifying for the Russian GP. These guys (Rosberg and Bottas) were looking quite strong. Just hookingg up a lap from some reason it wasnt the same as practice. Bernard King Knicks Jersey. But Im really grateful that I got the pole here for the first time. Its going to be tough tomorrow. Its a long way down to turn one, so well find out how that works out. If Hamilton or Rosberg wins this race, then Mercedes will clinch the F1 constructors championship. Mercedes currently holds a 190-point lead over its closest competitor, Red Bull. Jenson Button placed his McLaren fourth on the grid, while Russian Daniil Kvyat from Toro Rosso qualified a career-best fifth in front of his home crowd. It feels great securing P5 in todays qualifying here in my home country, Kvyat said. Im very happy we could put it all together and achieve my best ever qualifying result. The car felt very good and everything worked out well, so well done to the team. Kevin Magnussen from McLaren finished sixth in qualifying, but Magnussen received a five-spot grid penalty for an unscheduled gearbox change. He will start 11th. Magnussens penalty allowed Daniel Ricciardo from Red Bull to move up to sixth on the starting grid, followed by Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen. Ricciardos teammate, Sebastian Vettel, the four-time F1 world champion, failed to advance into the final qualifying round for the first time since the Austrian Grand Prix in June. Vettel will start 10th. I wasnt comfortable in the car today, Vettel said. It was very difficult. I think we took a step back from this morning (final practice), and we expected the rear to be a lot stronger and the track to pick up more than it did. The car felt nervous, so I couldnt take the speed into the corners. I lost the rear many times around the lap and therefore wasnt quick enough. Felipe Massa from Williams did not make it into the second round, as he qualified 18th. Massa experienced a fuel pressure problem. I had no real power throughout qualifying, and we were trying different things to resolve this out on track, but in the end, there was nothing I could do, Massa said. NFL Jerseys China ' ' '

6) Want an NHL trade to remember? On April 3, 2013, the Washington Capitals traded Filip Forsberg to Nashville for Martin Erat and Michael Latta. Jason Williams Kings Jersey . Forsberg might win the Calder Trophy. End of trade analysis.7) If Wally Buono and I had our way, the CFL would be a nine-team league that would send the two best teams to the Grey Cup. Yes, that might mean an end to the Grey Cup tradition of East vs. West. That might mean a Grey Cup in Vancouver featuring teams from Calgary and Edmonton. Who would have a problem with that? With Rogers Centre attendance figures in hand, Im waiting to hear that someone in Toronto would have a problem with that. After the first week of the NBA season, who stands out? Golden States Klay Thompson, thats who. He just might be worth the four-year, $70 million rookie contract extension that raised eyebrows when it made him the Warriors highest-paid player. You are reminded that Stephen Curry plays for the Warriors.9) As Ernie Banks would say "Lets play three". Do you wonder why NHL coaches routinely use two goalies when theyre faced with back-to-back games? Jason LaBarberas weekend would suggest its not necessary. LaBarbera played on Friday and Saturday for the AHLs Norfolk Admirals and was recalled by Anaheim to serve as John Gibsons backup on Sunday against Colorado. Gibson was hurt in the warmup. LaBarbera played his third game in three nights and the Ducks won 3-2.10) Wouldnt it be something if the Ottawa Redblacks one-point win over the Toronto Argos in the Redblacks first-ever home game should wind up costing the Argos a playoff spot? Thats possible, but this is definite--the Argos would be out if they managed to lose to Ottawa a second time in Ottawas last game of an otherwise awful first season.11) Okay to re-tweet this? "Hard to beat the Giants winning formula--get a lead and turn it over to the closer for the final 15 outs".12) Who saw this coming? Ben Roethlisberger has thrown 12 touchdown passes in his last two games. He had 10 in the Pittsburgh Steelers first seven games.13) And what do you make of this? The Montreal Canadiens are tied for first place in the NHL East and their opponents have outscored them 35-31.14) Remember when each and every NHL suspension was a big story? Now, they are routinely mentioned and generally ignored, seldom debated and simply taken for granted as part of what goes on in the NHL.15) I guess it makes sense that Paul Molitor is the manager of the Minnesota Twins--he was born there, got his 3,000th hit there, finished his career there and coached there. But wasnt it always a good idea that the MVP of the 1993 World Series and one of the Blue Jays most popular players, and people (though he only spent two years with them) manage in Toronto?16) Should Jon Cornish have played in a game that meant nothing in the standings to the Calgary Stampeders? It allowed him to record his third straight 1,000-yard season, but he left the game with another concussion. By the time they host the Western final, the Stampeders will have gone four weeks without playing a game that mattered, so its understandable that they need to stay sharp. More importantly, tho, Cornish needs to stay healthy.17) If this sort of thing appeals to you, ESPNs MLB Future Power Rankings puts the Toronto Blue Jays at #18 when assessing the chances for success of all 30 teams over the next five years. If thats depressing, consider that the outlook for the San Francisco Giants entering the 2014 season was worse--San Francisco was #19. #1 this time? Andrew Friedmans LA Dodgers.1 In NASCAR news, what could be worse than Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski getting out of their cars and fighting? Sure-- staying inside their cars and fighting.19) From this seasons daly returns, which was the best NHL free-agent signing? a) Ryan Miller by the Vancouver Canucks b) Jonas Hiller by the Calgary Flames c) Radim Vrbata by the Vancouver Canucks?20) If Mayor John Tory is serious about reducing Torontos traffic congestion, why doesnt he tell the Leafs to leave Stuart Percy with one team or the other? Tampa Bay got a break when shortstop Jonathan Villar dropped a throw on Brandon Guyers potential double-play grounder after a leadoff single by James Loney. OVERLAND PARK, Kan. Swingman Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Jersey . -- Andrew Wiggins told Kansas coach Bill Self that he wants to be traded from Cleveland to Minnesota because the No. 1 overall pick believes it will be better for his long-term future. Wiggins, from Vaughan, Ont., joined his former coach as a guest instructor at Selfs basketball camp in suburban Kansas City on Sunday. And while Wiggins declined to speak to the few reporters at Shawnee Mission West High School, Self said the rookie wants to carve out his own legacy in the NBA. "When all this trade stuff started, I talked to Andrew and Andrew told me, "I hope I get traded," Self said. "And Im like, No you dont. And he said, "Coach, I do. Its better for me, knowing my personality and what I need to do, to go somewhere where Im forced to be something as opposed to going in there where theyre going to be patient with me and Im going to be a piece." Earlier this week, The Associated Press and several other outlets reported a deal has been reached to send Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a first-round pick to Minnesota for All-Star forward Kevin Love, who will join LeBron James and Kyrie Irving to form a new "Big 3" in Cleveland. The deal cannot be consummated until Aug. 23, when Wiggins is eligible to be traded. Self said that he initially thought everything worked out perfectly for Wiggins, who would have a chance to win immediately in Cleveland. But he also saw Wiggins point: The low-key, soft-spoken swingman could fare better if hes carrying the weight of a franchise. That would never have happened if Wiggins was playing in Jamess lengthy shadow. "Even though in a weird way everybody would love the opportunity to play with LeBron because youre guaranteed winning," Self said, "for the longevity of his career, he needs to develop that mindset to be the guy, for him to be great, and I think being Minnesota will help him do that." Wiggins, who set numerous freshman records during his lone season with the Jayhawks, also appears to be a good fit for the Timberwolves. While his defence is already NBA-caliber, Wiggins will be able to develop his offence alongside point guard Ricky Rubio in an up-tempo system. Speaking of that offence, Wiggins took part in a modified game of horse on Saturday against former Kansas stars Jeff Graves, Jeff Hawkins and several young campers. After clanking a series of 3-pointers off the iron, Wiggins was the first contestant to be eliminated. He took the ouster with a smile and a shrug, just as he has all of the trade talk. "I think hes handled everything great. Hes excited," Self said. "I think the whole thing thats been blown out of proportion a bit is that hes been in limbo. Hes known since the summer that hed be traded. Its OK. In some ways hes looking forward to going to Minnesota." Frank Kaminsky Hornets Jersey . "It caught me pretty good, dazed me for that shift, but I didnt want to be off the ice for too long," he said after practice, his lip still bleeding a little despite the plastic stitches holding it together. http://www.officialhornetsonline.us/alonzo-mourning-hornets-jersey/ . Calgary finished atop the CFL standings with a 14-4 record and earned the right to host the West Division final at McMahon Stadium on Nov.Just as the late season perfect storm takes shape for the Impact, Marco Di Vaios possible departure at seasons end casts a foreboding shadow down Stade Saputo way. It was back in July that Di Vaio disclosed to TSN.ca he would wait until the season had run its course before sitting down with his family to consider the option of continuing to play football in a city he, his wife and children were very comfortable living in. Not long afterwards the current MLS player of the week was given permission to return to Italy for personal reasons. Now we know, following his midweek disclosure, the comfortable Di Vaio family life has been shattered. Di Vaio is now living alone in Montreal, while his wife and two young children remain in Italy due to a family illness. There appears to be no timeline for their return. The leagues top scorer told media Wednesday that he wants to be with his family and if they are not able to re-join him in Montreal, he will not extend his career with the Impact. In early January this year, Di Vaio returned to Montreal a few weeks ahead of training camp with one clear objective in mind. He felt, after a disappointing debut season, he owed a debt of gratitude to Joey Saputo and Impact supporters. So, he promised himself that in return he would do something special for the upcoming season. Now, with the club on the cusp of the playoffs Di Vaio has certainly kept his side of the bargain. With the immense promise there is much more to come. Meanwhile, Brazilian-born Felipe, a player instrumental in so many of Di Vaios goals this season and also the Impacts second leading scorer, shone a beacon of light in the direction of a woefully underperforming Canadian mens national team the day after they were humbled by Mauritania. However, his midweek tweet was hardly an impulsive thing, with the Impact midfielder disclosing to TSN 690 the thought of playing for Canada has been on his mind for quite some time. "I told my coach Mauro Biello last year I want to stay here in Montreal, I love playing on the Impact, I love this city so I want to stay here and play and if I have opportunity to play on the Canadian team – why not," explained Felipe. Adding, "Well see what happens, you never know what can happen but if I have the opportunity to stay here and play for the national team that would be nice." With his star certainly on the rise Felipe surprisingly does not retain the services of an agent. Nor has he let the CSA know of his feelings towards perhaps one day trotting out in a jersey emblazoned with the maple leaf. "For now I didnt talk with nobody but well see whatt is going to happen and I hope I have opportunity to play for them," he said. Nicolas Batum Hornets Jersey. . Back in July, Camilo also revealed his intentions towards the mens national team. To date Felipe has not spoken with his fellow Brazilian. "I havent had opportunity to speak with him about that. But I think like me he would like to play for the Canadian national team if he has an opportunity." Felipe will be eligible to apply for permanent resident status next year and, if he is successful, a further wait would be required to comply with the FIFA international rule book. Making Montreal seem more like home Felipe also revealed that unlike in his first season where he lived alone, his girlfriend has now joined up with him in la belle ville. With a pair of midweek CONCACAF Champions League games mushroomed between two straight home league games, Saturday afternoons home date with Columbus is the start of a four games in 10 days stretch for the Impact. The team is currently on a season best four-game unbeaten streak in MLS play, matching their perfect start to the season. Against Columbus, Montreal is up against a club desperate for three points as the Crew look to put their spluttering playoff campaign back on track. The last time Columbus was in town on April 13, a freak snowstorm led to the game being pushed back 24 hours. Di Vaio was on the score sheet that day in a game that ended with the spoils shared. With Di Vaios disclosures as a back drop and the expectation of yet another sold out stadium, you can be sure the Impact faithful will do all they can to ensure the leagues top marksman feels right at home. For all the noise that comes out of the Pacific North West, there will be no greater moment across the MLS landscape than if Di Vaio bangs in his 18th Saturday afternoon. His instinctive goal celebration - a kiss of his wedding band finger - would be a moment for the MLS MVP-in-waiting to bridge that immense void felt for those three people who have been ever present at Saputo Stadium - his wife and two young children. Like Gianfronco Zola, who upon re-signing an additional year option with Chelsea back in 2002 told the supporters it shouldnt be him they should be celebrating but instead Mrs. Zola, before him. If it wasnt for Mrs. Di Vaios willingness to uproot her family from their comfortable life at home in summer 2012, the Impact supporters would never have had the chance to enjoy their 2013 MLS MVP. SAN FRANCISCO -- Mike Leake has gotten stronger every year, and his fastball velocity has increased as a result. http://www.germanynationalshop.com/Lukas-Podolski-Germany-Jersey/ . Even so, he still doesnt know where all those strikeouts came from. Leake allowed four hits in eight innings and had a career-high 12 strikeouts in the Cincinnati Reds 3-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday night. "It didnt feel like that many," said Leake, who allowed one run and walked one, which was intentional. "But I guess its a big accomplishment. Im not high on strikeouts." Cincinnati manager Bryan Price thinks Leake (6-6) could be a strikeout pitcher if that was his goal. "Hes pretty consistent hitting 93, 94 mph with his fastball," said the former pitching coach. "Thats not a fastball you have to apologize for. He could throw more pitches and be less effective but strike out more guys." Brandon Phillips had three hits, including a home run and double, and scored twice in his return to the lineup for the Reds, who won their fifth in six games. Leake, still looking for his first major league shutout, didnt try to talk his way onto the mound for the ninth. He hasnt pitched a complete game in nearly two years. Aroldis Chapman worked the ninth for his 15th save in 16 chances. "We have a good closer, why not use him?" Leake said. Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier each added two hits for the Reds. Bruce doubled in the seventh and has an extra-base hit in each of his last seven games, the longest streak by a Reds player since Dave Parker did it in eight straight in 1986. "We seem to play well here," Bruce said. "With this pitching staff, if you put runs on the board, you have a chance." Adam Duvall, making his major league debut, hit a home run for the Giants, who lost for the 12th time in 16 games. Ryan Vogelsong (5-4) allowed a run on five hits over six innings one day after Tim Lincecum threw a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres. He struck out seven and walked one. "I rubbed up against him before the game, but it didnt work," Vogelsong said. "I just wasnt good enough." Jean Machi, who allowed Phillips home run leading off the seventh, had his scoreless streak end at 25 1-3 innings. Zack Cozart and Ryan Ludwick also drove in runs for the Reds, who have won eight of their last 10 games, including playoffs, in San Francisco. The Reds ended a scoreless duel with a run in the fifth. Phillips, who missed the last three games with a bruised heel, led off with a single. Two outs later, Cozart doubled him home. Bruce followed Phillips homer with a double and scored on Ludwicks single. Duvall hit a 0-2 pitch from Leake into the left field bleachers to put the Giants on the scoreboard. "Thats a feeling Ill never forget running the bases," Duvall said. "I tried to tell myself it was the same game, just a bigger crowd." Leake allowed a two-out double to Buster Posey in the first and then retired 15 of the next 16 hitters before Hunter Pences triple in the sixth. Leake improved to 4-0 with a 0.87 ERA in four starts at AT&T Park. The Giants also threw out two runners at home. Billy Hamilton tried to score on Devin Mesoracos shallow fly to second baseman Joe Panik in the sixth, and Brandon Crawford nailed Mesoracso trying to score on Phillips double to centre field in the eighth. NOTES: Frazier has a 13-game hitting streak against the Giants. ... Chapman has at least one strikeout in each of his last 33 appearances, the longest active streak by a reliever and the fourth longest since 1900. . Reds LHP Tony Cingrani, optioned to Triple A Louisville on Friday, was placed on the minor league disabled list with a strained shoulder. That came as a surprise to the Reds, who sent him down to work. ... RHP Johnny Cueto (7-5, 1.86), the major league leader in ERA, pitches for the Reds on Friday night. Hes won his last two decisions. . LHP Madison Bumgarner (9-4, 2.63) goes for the Giants. Hes 2-2 in five starts against the Reds. ... Giants 1B Michael Morse was scratched because of illness. . Duvall became the 11th Giant since 1958 to homer in his first game. ... The Junior Giants Stretch Drive Fund, created in honour of Hall of Famer Willie McCovey, began Thursday to help provide baseball programs in 90 underserved communities. Information can be obtained at the website jrgiant.org. http://www.germanynationalshop.com/Jerome-Boateng-Germany-Jersey/ . -- Isaiah Pead took a stutter step forward, then raced to the left sideline and travelled 60 yards up the field before finally getting tripped up by a leg tackle. http://www.germanynationalshop.com/Joshua-Kimmich-Germany-Jersey/ . -- Catriona Matthew remained atop the Airbus LPGA Classic leaderboard Friday, birdieing four of the last seven holes to take a one-stroke advantage over Charley Hull into the weekend. http://www.germanynationalshop.com/Matthias-Ginter-Germany-Jersey/ . With their coach gone, they finally played offence the way he would have wanted. Amare Stoudemire made all seven shots in the first half, Anthony passed and shot well, and the Knicks shook off the surprising departure of their coach to rout the Portland Trail Blazers 121-79 on Wednesday night, snapping a six-game losing streak.ALGIERS, Algeria -- The Muslim players in World Cup teams that have qualified for the second round in Brazil face a thorny question on Sunday when much of the Islamic world will start observing the holy month of Ramadan with a dawn to dusk fast. The question is trickiest for the Algerian team, which faces a formidable German side on Monday. There are also Muslims on the Nigerian and French teams and those players also will have to weigh their religious convictions against the possible effects of fasting on their performance. "We need to discuss it among ourselves," Algerian player Djamel Mesbah said. "Its clear that our religion is very important for the team, so we will talk about it and see how to go forward." Athletes in the Olympics in 2012 faced the same hurdle, with many teams allowing their players to eat during Ramadan so as not to impair their performance and make up for it at another time or make donations to charity. While fasting during daytime over the 30 days of Ramadan, including abstaining from drinking liquids, is mandatory for all able bodied Muslims and one of the five pillars of Islam, there are exemptions, including for the sick, pregnant, infirm or elderly. Those travelling or going to war are also excluded and it is under this provision that most athletes will likely delay the fast until a more suitable time. Algerian team captain Madjid Bouguerra pointed out in interviews with the Algerian press that it is a challenge Muslim players in European clubs have long faced and when he was with the Glasgow Rangers, he fasted but made sure he kept his performance up. "The hardest thing is staying hydrated, but its ok, the weathers good here," he said. "Some players will postpone their fast for another time, but depending on my physical condition, I think I will do it." Bacary Sagna, a Muslim player in the French squad, said that many of the players who do it are used to it from their time in the European leagues and able to function. "As a Muuslim I know that there are certain rules that allow us to avoid it," he told The Associated Press in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil. http://www.germanynationalshop.com/Marc-Andre-ter-Stegen-Germany-Jersey/. "Personally Im not going to do it, everyones free to do as they will and I totally respect those that will do it." From a religious standpoint, however, it becomes a bit more complex. Islam lacks a central hierarchy like the Catholic church and any imam can issue an opinion that is then obeyed depending on how much respect they command. Even in Algeria, which is bathing in the euphoria of qualifying for the second round of the World Cup for the first time in its history, there have been a range of opinions from religious scholars, with some coming out quite strongly against fasting exemptions. "It is not allowed for an Algerian player to avoiding fasting just for a game -- they must fast because God is with those who fast and young people can fast and play at the same time," said Mohammed Mekerkab, the head of Algerias association of religious scholars. He also dismissed the exemption for travel claimed by most athletes since the provision was only for voyages undertaken in the search for knowledge, health reasons or fighting jihad. Algerias government-appointed High Islamic Council, however, has come down in favour of those wanting to delay their fast. Sheikh Mohammed Sherif Kaher, the head of the councils commission for religious opinions said "those playing can abstain from fasting." Dr. Hakim Chalabi, a specialist in sports and fasting who accompanied the team to Brazil, admitted in an interview that it is a delicate question because of the need for hydration and the increased risk of injuries. He noted, though, that fasting wasnt always a total hindrance to players. "We are often asked to urge players not to fast, but oddly, in some cases, there are athletes that get better results during Ramadan because they are fasting and want to," he said. "It can be a spiritual and psychological aid." NFL Jerseys China ' ' '

NEW YORK -- The New York Mets told Wilmer Flores the starting shortstop job is open next year, and the young infielder might just win the job with his bat. Clyde Drexler Rockets Jersey . Flores homered twice and drove in six runs for the second time this year, Ruben Tejada capped a four-run fourth inning with a two-run double, and the Mets routed the Miami Marlins 9-1 on Tuesday night to end a three-game skid. "I think what hes done offensively has helped him defensively," manager Terry Collins said of Flores, who has been knocked for his play in the field. Just hours after Commissioner Bud Selig said he was impressed with the manner in which the Mets were rebuilding, the 23-year-old Flores hit a three-run shot in the fifth and a two-run drive in the seventh -- both off reliever Brad Penny. He also had an RBI double in the fourth as the Mets scored their most runs at home since they tallied 11 against the Phillies on July 30. After slowly developing the power stroke the organization thinks he is capable of providing, Flores is 8 for 15 with three homers and 10 RBIs in his last four games. He has six long balls overall. "Maybe it takes a little more time for some people," Flores said about finding his swing against big leaguers. "Im seeing the ball well right now." Bartolo Colon (14-12) bounced back from his shortest outing of the year to pitch 7 2-3 innings for New York, allowing one run and a season-high 12 hits. The only extra-base hit was a double to Reed Johnson, who had three hits. He struck out seven without a walk. "I was able to execute at the right moment to get out of the big inning," the always smiling Colon said through a translator. The Mets and Marlins each have 73 wins in the competition for third place in the NL East. New York has two more losses with 10 games to play. Miami, which outhit the Mets 13-12, has 12 games remaining. The Mets must go 8-2 to avoid their sixth straight losing season. Curtis Granderson had an RBI single among his three hits, and the Mets handed Nathan Eovaldi (6-12) his sixth straight losing decision over seven starts, dating to Aug. 13. Eovaldi yielded six runs and six hits over 4 1-3 innings. Flores connected off Penny two batters after Eovaldi was pulled in the fifth. Flores also had six RBIs on June 2 at Philadelphia. "Hes in a career record for innings, so maybe he could be running out of gas. I dont know. The ball seems to still be coming out of his hands. Hes just making mistakes," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said of Eovaldi. "Hes making mistakes and theyre making him pay." TRAINERS ROOM Marlins: Giancarlo Stanton was undergoing tests in Miami to determine if he will be able to play again this year. He was hit in the face by a pitch on Thursday and sustained facial fractures, cuts and dental damage. He posted gruesome photos on his Instagram account Tuesday, showing how much he has healed in the five days. The first photo was taken hours after he was beaned. "Well have an official statement tomorrow, but its probably not looking good for him," Redmond said after the game. Mets: CF Juan Lagares left the game because of a hyperextended right elbow before the fifth inning, and he said the elbow was sore. He will be re-evaluated Wednesday. ... RHP Matt Harvey (elbow surgery) felt great a day after his simulated game thrown from the Citi Field mound. "It was a bright, bright spot for us, knowing he is going to be a hundred per cent," Collins said. UP NEXT Marlins RHP Henderson Alvarez (10-6) goes for his fifth career win vs. the Mets. New York RHP Dillon Gee (7-7), however is undefeated in five starts against Miami (3-0, 2.30 ERA). NOISY NEW YORK Redmond and Marlins pitcher Jarred Cosart werent too happy with the sounds coming from the street outside the teams midtown hotel. "Thanks New York construction for beginning your jack hammering at 730 am. Im sure everyone appreciates it. .Nofeel .cleanitup," Cosart tweeted. Redmond said he could hear the work from his room on the 40th floor. Custom Rockets Jersey . Spains victory rendered Frances 3-0 win against Finland meaningless as Spain needed just one point to secure passage to Brazil. Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema scored either side of Joona Toivios own-goal as France advanced to the playoff among the eight best second-place finishers. Tracy McGrady Rockets Jersey . -- A 25-year-old freelance journalist from British Columbia was formally charged on Thursday with a felony, five days after she was arrested in the United States over allegations she threatened to kill her hockey player boyfriend. http://www.therocketsofficial.com/Authentic-Clyde-Drexler-Rockets-Jersey/ .J. - Trying to learn and absorb the new West Coast offence being installed by new offensive co-ordinator Ben McAdoo, the New York Giants wrapped their final organized team activity Thursday before a three-day mini-camp next week.CHICAGO – The Blackhawks have captured two Stanley Cups in five years and on Sunday night they showed the suddenly skidding Maple Leafs exactly why. Chicago outclassed their Original Six rivals for the better part of 60 minutes, sending them to a third straight loss and some soul-searching just days after a fiery 10-1-1 stretch came to an end. The Leafs are admittedly trying to chase the Blackhawks model. Head coach Randy Carlyle expressed admiration for Chicagos up-tempo brand, describing it as the type of game his team would like to implement consistently. Players echoed his thoughts. We can learn from playing teams like that when theyre at the top of their game, said Joffrey Lupul after a 4-0 loss, just the second time the Leafs have been shutout this season. Thats the type of team were striving to become. Not only are the Blackhawks a polished offensive powerhouse, but unlike their Toronto counterparts, they lock things down at the other end, standing on top of the league defensively. Lupul observed how well they manage to play collectively – building off years of experience – Daniel Winnik noting just how effective and nifty they are with the puck in all three zones. Theyre so good with the puck when they have it, said Winnik. The Leafs, a sometimes sloppy outfit with the puck themselves, continue to tumble down the league rankings defensively, yielding an unseemly 15 goals during the three-game skid. Only the likes of Dallas, Edmonton, Buffalo, Arizona, Colorado and injury-ravaged Columbus have been worse this season at keeping pucks of the net. Weve allowed the opposition to score too many goals, said Carlyle following the first of seven straight on the road. Weve got to get our defensive side of [the game] back in order and play a tighter game, specifically on the road. You cant come into a building like this and play the Stanley Cup champs in these situations and think that youre going to play loose hockey. Thats not the way its going to work. Superior goaltending and a powerful offence kept such an approach afloat during much of the month-long stretch of winning hockey, but no longer. James Reimer was forced to make a good number of quality saves to keep things tight for two periods – with a handful of odd-man opportunities to contend with – Antti Raanta tested more and more often as the night wore on, but ultimately perfect with 31 saves. The Blackhawks struck twice in a controlling first frame – the second with just seconds left on the clock – adding two more in the final 20 minutes. They flung the puck around with precision, were often first to loose pucks - Patrick Kane snatching control ahead of Tyler Bozak on Chicagos second of the game – and were seemingly just a step ahead. Theyre a pretty good hockey club obviously, said Carlyle. And they executed at a very high level. They moved the puck around us quite a bit in the hockey game and we just didnt have an answer for it. And then when we did have chances I think their goaltender made some big stops. Carlyle continued to shuffle his line combinations around, mixing and matching furiously in hopes of finding a better mix at even-strength. That process Sunday saw David Booth and Richard Panik both move higher in the lineup (replacing David Clarkson) and Phil Kessel bounce between Nazem Kadri and Tyler Bozak. But it was to no effect against the Blackhawks, who held off a third period Leafs rally. The two teams are obviously at different stages in the curve to success with vastly different amounts of talent. Chicago is an annual Cup contender and an organization that generates a healthy amount of envy around the league. Toronto just trying to get into the postseason dance, looking at a team like the Blackhawks admiringly. Theyre a better team than us right now, Lupul said. Were striving to get to their level and its a work in progress. -- Five Points 1. 2015 Its very likely that Leo Komarov doesnt play again for the Leafs until 2015. Komarov, whos missed the past 11 games with a concussion, has been skating recently and steadily improving. But the 27-year-old continues to experience symptoms related to the concussion, according to a source, even if those symptoms are not quite as severe as those in the initial aftermath of the injury. And while he has taken to the ice briefly with the teams strength coach in recent days, Komarov still has yet to practice with the team, has yet to go through any substantial drills, and will miss the final game before the Christmas break in Dallas. The Leafs will have five games in seven days when they return from the holidays with the possibility of one, maybe two practices in that span. Hell need more than that to return given the precarious nature of the injury and length of time missed. And thats assuming those symptoms disappear – they havent yet – which is obviously far from a guarantee. The likely timelline for Komarovs return, according to the source, is January – perhaps as late as the middle of the month. Swingman Robert Horry Jersey. Leafs general manager Dave Nonis did not respond to a request for comment on the matter. Komarov was among the better Leafs through the first two months this season. He had 16 points in 23 games. -- 2. Embracing Analytics Carlyle likes to jest from time to time about the wave of analytics in the game today, but its evident that hes embracing the movement, even looking to procure a new stat. Frustrated with sloppy play recently, Carlyle wants to create an analytic that tracks how much time the club ends up spending in the defensive zone after a puck is turned over at the offensive blue-line. Its something he intends to present his players with. Its an interesting stat, Carlyle said ahead of the Sunday tilt with Chicago. And were going to be hard and fast with our players to show them whats happening when we do that. As to analytics, Carlyle said, Its just a different way of looking at the game and its a tool. We think that its a valuable tool in some of those situations where we can apply it. -- 3. Improvements Winnik offered one subtle change the Leafs could make to control possession longer, thus giving up fewer opportunities and shots against. Puck support, he said. Sometimes we just get too spread out. Were looking for cross-ice passes as opposed to being close and making short chips or short passes, I think thats kind of an adjustment we might have to make. The Leafs had maybe their three best games of the year after the 9-2 blasting at home by Nashville last month. They played Tampa, Detroit and Pittsburgh, holding all three under 30 shots with a structured brand of hockey rare to this group. Those are games that we really shut, I think, really good offensive teams down, Winnik said. I think the challenge is playing structured every single night. Its not easy and it might not be fun some games because you might feel robotic to what you have to do, but it gets the job done. In the 12 games after that brief three-game window, the Leafs gave up 30 or more in 10 of 12 games. I thought we were a pretty good team defensively for a while there, Winnik continued. Now weve kind of gotten away from it. Maybe weve just got to look back at those games. -- 4. Best Year Yet? It may not look like it, but Phil Kessel is quietly pushing toward what could be the best statistical season of his career. Kessel is on pace for 41 goals, 46 assists and 87 points, all of which would be career-highs. Hes also produced more efficiently than in years past, on pace for less than 270 shots and currently shooting nearly 16 per cent – which would also be a career-high. Now 27, Kessel is producing at about the same rates in even-strength situations as past seasons – though he endured about a month-long cold spell – receiving a big bump from a potent Leafs power-play. Nearly 40 per cent of his offence comes with the man advantage. Kessel, nonetheless, remains a drain on the Leafs in other areas; he is amongst the teams worst possession players and a glaring negative in the subtler points of the game, including in the defensive zone. But the production continues to be there. -- 5. Gardiner With an eye towards Tuesdays game in Dallas, the Leafs took Stephane Robidas out of the lineup against Chicago. Robidas spent the majority of his career with the Stars, Carlyle opting to give him an extra night of rest ahead of what should be an emotional return. In doing so the Leafs flipped Jake Gardiner back into the lineup, a night after scratching him against the Flyers. Gardiner led the Leafs with nearly 23 minutes, on the ice for the Blackhawks final two goals in the third frame. I thought Jake played very well until the third period, Carlyle said, describing Gardiners game as being more determined. Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork. Yaya Toure Jersey .com) - Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena has said on numerous occasions that his club is the premier club in Major League Soccer. While other big-market clubs such as the New York Red Bulls and Seattle Sounders FC might disagree, Sundays MLS Cup title win proves that Galaxy are the dominant team in the league. The Galaxy won the first of their impressive five titles back in 2002, coincidentally against the New England Revolution, and their second title came in 2005, again a win over the Revolution in 2005. The club then failed to reach MLS Cup in each of the next three seasons before getting back to the final in 2009 and falling short against West rivals Real Salt Lake. Motivated by falling short, the team returned to the showpiece event in 2011, this time armed with a trio of superstars in Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and David Beckham. It is with those three mega-stars that the Galaxy have done their best work, knocking off the Houston Dynamo in both 2011 and 2012, while sending Beckham off into the sunset with a title. The Galaxy essentially dominated the league those years, but this seasons triumph speaks volumes about the clubs resiliency, given the path they took to reach their ultimate goal. Arenas club got off to a slow start, but came on strong in the summer, roaring up the Western Conference standings courtesy of a 10-match unbeaten streak from Aug. 20 to Oct. 4. The team headed into the final two weeks of the season level on points with the Seattle Sounders and battling for the Supporters Shield. They came up short in the race for the Shield, but the setback seemed to serve the club well heading into the postseason. After battling Real Salt Lake to a scoreless draw in the opening contest of the Conference semifinals, the Galaxy clicked into gear in the second leg, thrashing RSL, 5-0, to set up a date with Seattle in the West finals. In the West finals a goal from Marcelo Sarvas gave the Galaxy a 1-0 opening leg win, but heading to Seattle for the second leg would certainly be a challenge. Seattle grabbed a 2-1 aggregate lead with goals from Brad Evans and Clint Dempsey, but the Galaxy didnt panic in a hostile environment, showed some intestinal fortitude and grabbed the all-important road goal to advance via a tiebreaker. Heading into the final, all the storylines centered around Donovan, who was looking for his storybook ending to an outstanding career. But it was the Galaxys other stars that came up huge. Gyasi Zardes, often looked upon as a bit of a forgotten man next to the blinding star power of Donovan and Keane, got the party rolling for the hosts in the 52nd minute with a well-taken left-footed strike. The Revolution pulled one back through Chris Tierney, sending the game into extra time, where the visiting side had the better of the play. But just when the Galaxy needed a superstar to step up, Keane did the trick as the Irish international got in behind the defense via a nice through ball from Marcelo Sarvas before depositing it into the back of the net. Keane, the newly-minted league MVP, came up with an MVP-level play right when they needed it, which is what dominant teams do -- they come up large in the clutch. The win marks the clubs third title in the last four years, and Keanes third title with Los Angeles since arriving from Tottenham-Hotspur in 2011. For Donovan, there is no other way the greatest player in American soccer history would want to end his career, with a sixth title. Donovan joins some impressive company on the list of athletes that have won a championship in their final season, which includes Ray Bourque, John Elway, Bill Russell and Joe DiMaggio. Of the clubs five titles, Sundays win is probably the most satisfying given the route they took to get there in the regular season. It certainly cements the Galaxys place as Major League Soccers greatest dynasty. Eliaquim Mangala Jersey . Head coach Lindy Ruff confirmed on Sunday that his starting goalie has a head injury and the team will take it day by day. Rony Lopes Jersey . "Well over 50 (per cent)," coach Claude Noel said Tuesday after practice, where the Jets were looking at ways to cut down the scoring chances theyve been giving away. http://www.authenticmanchestercityshop.com/Authentic-Joe-Hart-Manchester-City-Jersey/ . Cory Batey and Brandon Vandenburg were each convicted on four charges of aggravated rape, one of attempted aggravated rape and two for aggravated sexual battery. Vandenburg was also found guilty of tampering with evidence as well as an unlawful photography charge.Carson, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alan Gordons late second-half tally proved to be the difference on Saturday as the Los Angeles Galaxy clinched a postseason berth with a 2-1 win over FC Dallas at the StubHub Center. Los Angeles entered the match in fine form, riding a seven-match unbeaten streak and collected goals from Robbie Keane in the 62nd minute followed by Gordons winner with six minutes to play. The win extends the Galaxys unbeaten run to eight, clinches a playoff berth in the Western Conference and moves the club level on points atop the conference with Seattle on 54 points. FC Dallass lone tally came from Blas Perez, but it wasnt enough to get the club three points. FC Dalllas remains in fourth place in the West with 45 points. Joe Hart Jersey. After a scoreless first half, the visitors struck first in the 54th minute as Perez got on the end of a free kick from Andres Escobar and nodded it into the top right corner, leaving Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo with no chance for a save. Los Angeles battled back to equalize in the 62nd minute when Keane collected a deft layoff at the top of the box from Gyasi Zardes and fired it home with ease. The winning tally came six minutes from time as Keane shook his defender and served a great ball into the box for Gordon, who nodded the ball back across the face of goal and into the bottom left corner. TORONTO - FIFA has attacked another plank in the legal challenge to artificial turf at the Womens World Cup, saying a mens World Cup could be held on artificial surfaces sooner rather than later. http://www.teambrazilsoccer.com/Thiago-Silva-Copa-America-Jersey/ .Secretary-general Jerome Valcke, in an interview on fifa.com, offered his personal guarantee that the playing surfaces at the 2015 tournament in Canada will be of the highest international standard — for artificial turf.Valcke said that FIFA tournament organizers have had the right for some time to use turf provided that it is of the highest quality and the same playing surface is used for all venues and training sites. It could well be that sooner rather than later the mens World Cup will also be played on artificial pitches, he added. The Canadian Soccer Association proposed for the tournament to be played on artificial turf based on the fact that most sporting infrastructure in Canada is on artificial turf, primarily due to the extreme climate in the host country. It would be very difficult to ensure solid natural-grass pitches at all venues.A group of elite female players has launched a human rights complaint in Ontario, arguing that tournament organizers are discriminating against women by making them play on artificial turf while the mens showcase is played on natural grass surfaces.A lawyer for the women said Valcke was being disingenuous in his comments about the mens event possibly being played on grass. The 2018 and 2022 mens World Cups are already slated for grass so, by soon, FIFA means 2026, Hampton Dellinger said. Obviously, FIFAs definition of soon is different from mine or any dictionarys.Even in 2026, Ill believe the mens World Cup will be played on turf when Im hopefully still around to see it. And Mr. Valckes excuse of Canadas extreme climate is astounding given that Russia and Qatar boast their own equally (or even more) difficult weather conditions. The natural grass pitch at BMO Field in Toronto certainly appears to do just fine during the summer months when the World Cup is staged. The FIFA Womens World Cup Canada 2015 is slated to be played on artificial turf at venues in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton.Valcke says playing the Canadian tournament on artificial turf is due to conditions here.As has already been explained, this is not a question of money, or of differences between men’s and women’s events, but it is a matter of the natural conditions in Canada, he said. We want to guarantee consistent top-level playing conditions for all 24 teams during the event, both in the official stadiums and at the training sites. This has been the sole reason behind the decision to play on artificial turf from Day 1.He cited ongoing studies of the turf to ensure that it is of the necessary quality. We fully understand that the players who have qualified for the Women’s World Cup want to ensure that they have the best conditions to perform well. This is a goal they share with FIFA.———Follow @NeilMDavidson on Twitter. http://www.teambrazilsoccer.com/Alex-Sandro-Copa-America-Jersey/ .com) - Eric Fehr and Marcus Johansson each registered a pair of goals, as Washington spoiled the head coaching debut of Peter Horachek by picking up a 6-2 victory in Toronto on Wednesday. http://www.teambrazilsoccer.com/Customized/ . "Right now were kind of looking at him at the end of the rotation right now," said pitching coach Pete Walker. "Not indicative of how hes doing or how hes feeling. Hattestad managed to avoid the carnage midway through the mens final, as a crash took out three skiers, essentially leaving two men vying for gold. The Norwegian posted a time of 3:38.39, outlasting Swedens Teodor Peterson, who took silver with a time of 3:39.RALEIGH, N.C. -- With his latest milestone within reach, Alex Ovechkin caught himself pressing and overthinking his play. All of a sudden, his path to history was clear. Ovechkin scored his 400th career goal into an empty net after the Washington Capitals had three power-play goals in the second period of a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night. "I had a couple of chances to score, and they were good ones, but maybe I tried to make more moves than I usually do," Ovechkin said. "(An) empty-netter is (an) empty-netter. Of course I (thought) about it, but its over and its time to move on." Troy Brouwer, Marcus Johansson and John Carlson scored with the man advantage and Nicklas Backstrom assisted on all four goals to help the second-place Capitals win for the fifth time in their last seven games. Ovechkins empty-netter with 24.5 seconds left in his 634th career game made him the sixth-fastest player in NHL history to reach No. 400 and the seventh active player with that many. "As we all know, hes a pretty good goal-scorer," Backstrom said. "Its always fun to see a player accomplish something big and I think 400 goals in however many games he has, its great. We all know hes a great player." Jordan Staal and Riley Nash scored for Carolina while Cam Ward stopped 25 shots. The Hurricanes had earned at least a point in six of their previous seven games. But theyve dropped four of five with the loss to the Caps. "Five-on-5, we were all over them," Staal said. "We were the better team, 5-on-5. But three power-play goals, you cant let that happen. Thats not good enough, obviously, and thats how you lose games." Washingtons Philipp Grubauer matched a season high with 39 saves -- and got some help from the choppy ice after Alexander Semins shot with about 6 minutes left trickled just wide of the net. The Capitals have the leagues second-best power-play unit with a success rate of nearly 25 per cent. They converted all three of their chances in the second. ";You dont want to have to rely on it, but whenever its going to power you through games, absolutely you want to rely on it," Brouwer said of the power play. http://www.teambrazilsoccer.com/Pele-Copa-America-Jersey/. A fortunate bounce helped the Capitals reclaim the lead at 3-2 with 4:31 left in the period: Mike Green broke his stick while dribbling a shot up the middle that clipped Brouwer on its way past Ward. "When it comes slower, obviously I get a better touch on it," Brouwer said. "I had my stick halfway up my body thinking it was going to be a higher shot because thats where he usually likes to shoot. Its almost a weird adjustment where you dont ever practice having to put your stick back down on the ice." That capped a big period for the Capitals power play. Johansson tied it 41 seconds into the second when he stuffed the puck between Wards left leg and the post. Carlson put the Capitals up 2-1 with 11:26 left -- and just 14 seconds into a holding minor on Tuomo Ruutu -- when his straightaway blast from just inside the blue line got past Ward. Carolina, which has the leagues third-worst power play, made it 2-all 2:42 later by scoring on the man advantage, with Nash making the most of Andrej Sekeras rebound. But it couldnt convert late after Carlson went off for hooking with 4:50 to play, despite peppering Grubauer with a barrage of shots from close range. The Hurricanes were playing for the first time since Dec. 14, when they wrapped up a four-point, four-game western swing with a win at Phoenix. Staal put the Hurricanes up 1-0 with 2:48 left in the first when he scored on a one-touch pass from Semin, who played seven years with the Capitals before signing with Carolina in July 2012. "We did a good job of getting after him and getting shots and getting opportunities," Staal said. "We just didnt bury them." NOTES: The Hurricanes scratched D Mike Komisarek (lower-body injury) after activating him from injured reserve earlier in the day. ... Semins point was his first since his Dec. 12 return from a concussion that cost him 12 games. NFL Jerseys China ' ' '

NEW YORK -- California Chrome has jogged for the first time on the Belmont Park track as the colt prepares to try to win the Triple Crown. Adrianna Franch Soccer Jersey . The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner jogged 1 1/2 miles on Wednesday with exercise rider Willie Delgado aboard. The colt slowed to a walk for the final sixteenth of a mile. Assistant trainer Alan Sherman says California Chrome is surprising him with how quickly he is bouncing back from his last two big races. Sherman says the chestnut colt with four white feet is feeling "really good." Sherman says California Chrome will start galloping on Thursday, which will provide a better idea of how hes handling the deep, sandy surface. California Chrome is set to run in the 1 1/2-mile Belmont Stakes on June 7 in his bid to sweep the Triple Crown for the first time in 36 years. Lindsey Horan Jersey . Check out todays trade-related reports and speculation from around the NHL beat, including breaking news around the New York Rangers plans for captain Ryan Callahan. Blue-shirt biddingsTSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger tweeted Friday that Western Conference teams are suggesting the New York Rangers are collecting information on St. Louis Blues forward Chris Stewart. With rumours swirling around pending unrestricted free agent Ryan Callahan, Dreger tweeted "Callahan for Stewart would be a sweet deal for Blues. On Wednesday, Dreger said he was told that "Rangers general manager Glen Sather has reached out to a number of general managers and he is gauging trade interest on Callahan." The Rangers captain is in the final season of a three-year, $12.825 million deal. He has nine goals and 20 points in 38 games. Rapid responseColorado Avalanche forward P.A. Parenteau has found himself front and centre of trade rumours with the Montreal Canadiens. Talking to Mike Chambers of the Denver Post on Sunday, Parenteau addressed his current situation with the Avalanche and the potential for a move to Montreal. "Any time a top-six guy on a team is out of the lineup (rumours) are going to go around. Its parrt of the game, but its not fun with family and stuff like that. Meghan Klingenberg Jersey. Its Montreal, too, and everyone was calling me. But Im trying to block that out and wait for my turn," he said. Parenteau, 30, is in the second season of the four-year, $16 million contract he signed with the Avalanche as an unrestricted free agent in 2012. Patiently waitingThomas Vanek is close to making a decision on his future with the New York Islanders, or so his agent says. Steve Bartlett, who spoke to Newsdays Arthur Staple on Wednesday, said the Austrian winger is not quite ready to seal his fate, but that "we continue to have what I consider very good and constructive conversations with the Islanders." The Islanders acquired Vanek last October from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Matt Moulson, a conditional first-round pick in 2014 -- New York could defer the pick to next year if it is a top-10 selection -- and a second-round pick in 2015. "We certainly understand the team will want to explore [a trade] and try to recoup some of the assets they gave up," Bartlett said. "We are getting close to that line in the sand time and we understand the risks and rewards of the situation were in. (GM) Garth (Snow) and the Islanders have been nothing but great in this whole process." NFL Jerseys China ' ' '
