GLASGOW -- Canada enjoyed a successful first day at the Glasgow Sevens rugby tournament, finishing on top of Pool B with wins over Japan and France and a draw with England. airmaxonlinesalegr . Canada opened Saturdays play with a 52-0 thumping of Japan, and followed with a 28-12 win over France. That was enough to guarantee them a spot in the quarter-finals of the Cup competition. In a battle for top spot in Pool B, Canada and England fought to a 7-7 draw. Philip Mack converted his own try in the first half to give Canada an early lead, but Tom Powell replied with a converted try in the second to draw England level. Both Canada and England, which is currently fourth in the IRB Sevens World Series overall standings, finished with eight points in three matches, but the Canadians took top spot in the pool with a superior point differential. "I thought we had chances to score but so did they," Canada coach Geraint John said of England. "Its important for us to top the group. Weve come close in recent tournaments but we have shown the depth here, as well as the big players stepping up." Canada will play Kenya in Sundays quarter-final. The Kenyans advanced after a surprising 33-19 win over Argentina. England will face Fiji, ranked third on the circuit. Canada reached a fifth straight quarter-finals for the first time. Earlier, Canada routed Japan behind three tries by Mike Scholz. Sean White, Connor Braid, Mike Fuailefau, John Moonlight and Harry Jones also crossed the line, while Mack booted four conversions. Moonlight, Conor Trainor, Sean Duke and Scholz scored tries against France, while Mack kicked four conversions. Canada entered the tournament seventh in the overall series standings, one point behind Samoa. The Glasgow Sevens is the second-last stop on the Sevens World Series circuit. The schedule concludes with the London Sevens next weekend. Elsewhere, New Zealand underlined its tournament ambitions with a 19-5 win over South Africa in an uncommon pool matchup of the world series two leading teams. New Zealand and South Africa previously met only in finals this season, with the Africans winning two of three. But New Zealands consistency has it leading the series by seven points. Despite resting stars DJ Forbes and Tim Mikkelson, New Zealand dominated the pool decider physically, but struggled to score. New Zealand will face Australia in the quarter-finals, while South Africa lined up host Scotland, which topped a pool for the first time in more than a year thanks to comfortable wins over Australia, the United States and Spain. http://www.airmaxonlinesalegr.com/air-max-2017.html . -- Josh MacDonalds second goal of the game kept his team alive as the Peterborough Petes edged the host Kingston Frontencas 6-5 in overtime on Friday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action. www.airmaxonlinesalegr.com . The wind caught the bunting behind home plate and puffed it out like a pillow. And in the dugout, the Milwaukee Brewers were ready to end this game. http://www.airmaxonlinesalegr.com/air-max-2015.html . So would Roberto Luongo. Instead, the high cost of insurance will limit them to some optional off-ice workouts and maybe some golf on the side.MILWAUKEE -- Ryan Braun delivered the clutch hit for the Brewers. It nearly was their only hit. Braun hit a two-run triple off Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez and scored on a throwing error, lifting the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 win and a three-game sweep over Colorado on Sunday. Braun came all the way around to score in the third after centre-fielder Dexter Fowler tried to make a diving catch, then compounded the problem by committing a throwing error. "When youre facing a pitcher like Ubaldo you know youre not going to get too many opportunities or square up too many balls. So when you do get hits you hope guys are on base," Braun said. "We were efficient with our hits." Or hit. Brauns liner was the only one off Jimenez until Mark Kotsays double with one out in the eighth. "It is unbelievable. One hit, three runs, very unusual game," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "Braunies ball, hit it in a good spot, the guy dives for it and it allows us really to get the third run there, which is important." Jimenez (0-4) threw the seventh complete game of his career, but struggled to find the strike zone with five walks and a hit batter. "Ive been a work in progress," Jimenez said. "I made a major step today, but I still have things to work on." Randy Wolf (4-4) allowed four hits and pitched around trouble for seven innings. He got key double plays in the fourth and fifth innings before settling down. Kameron Loe pitched the eighth and John Axford of Simcoe, Ont., saved his 12th game, including his last nine chances in a row. He struck out Jason Giambi following a two-out walk in the ninth to end it. Milwaukee improved to an NL-best 16-6 at home and has won 10 of its last 13 overall. The Brewers are playing their best baseball of the season despite almost being one-hit for the third time this year. "Im just happy with the way weve played for the last couple of weeks. I think were playing the kind of ball that allows us, in a long season, to get to where we want to be," Roenicke said. "To win a game with two hits is not going to happen very often." Colorado took a 1-0 lead in the third when Fowler tripled with two outs and scored on Carlos Gonzalezs single to right. But that was the only offence for the Rockies, who finished this road trip 1-4 and have scored 16 runs in the span. Todd Helton returned from back spasms, but struck out twice and didnt get a hit in four at-bats. "We hit some balls hhard. airmaxonlinesalegr.com. . When we do square balls up, were not catching much of a break. Thats for doggone sure. We just have to move on," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "With whats going on with us right now offensively, its one situation like that after another." In the bottom of the third, Carlos Gomez walked and after Wolf sacrificed him over, Rickie Weeks was hit by a pitch. With two outs and Braun up, a double steal put runners in scoring position before Braun hit a sharp liner to centre field. Fowlers dive wasnt close as the ball crossed through the shadows, and Fowlers throw back to the infield was errant, allowing Braun to sprint home to make it 3-1. "I got a pretty good jump on the ball. The ball was running away from me," Fowler said. "If it happens again, Id do the same thing at that point in the game." The Rockies typically solid defence looked shaky to Milwaukee. Colorado had at least one error in all three games, the first time thats happened all year. Wolf got in a big jam in the fourth with the bases loaded and one out before Jimenez hit into a 4-6-3 double play. In the fifth, Gonzalez hit into another double play to end a threat. "As the game went on, my command got better," said Wolf, who had entered 0-2 with a 8.56 earned-run average in three previous May starts. "When I felt like I needed to make a pitch I could to get out of some trouble where before I didnt have that comfort level out there." The Rockies fell to 1-7 in games featuring Jimenez, a 19-game winner last year. Jimenez, who had a no-hitter last season, is now 5-2 when pitching a complete game. "We knew he was going to be tough, but youve got to do what youve got to do," Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder said. "Were just winning." It led to his downfall on Tuesday. The Major League Soccer club fired Rennie after a second straight up-and-down season that saw the Whitecaps start strong before limping across the finish line. Vancouver recovered in time to squeak into the 2012 playoffs -- a first for a Canadian MLS team -- but a 1-7-2 slide midway through the 2013 campaign was too much to overcome and cost Rennie his job. "Ultimately, the rationale behind the decision is the inconsistency," Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi said at a B.C. Place Stadium press conference announcing the move. "If we look back over the two years, we had two relatively good starts, and in each of those seasons we seemed to tail off. "In the first year we were able to survive that and make the playoffs, but in the second year we werent able to do so." Lenarduzzi said the Whitecaps have a "football committee" that includes himself, two of the teams owners and two other executives, which determines the fate of the teams coach, among other duties. He danced around the question when asked if the decision to axe Rennie was unanimous, saying only that they had come to "a consensus" that it was the right move. Rennie, who compiled a 24-25-19 record in two seasons with Vancouver, watched the Whitecaps 2013 playoff hopes come to end when they dropped a 3-2 decision to the Colorado Rapids in Commerce City, Colo on Oct. 19. Vancouver (13-12-9) rebounded to beat Colorado 3-0 in Sundays regular-season finale, with star Brazilian forward Camilo Sanvezzo burying a hat trick to win the MLS Golden Boot as the leagues top scorer. But it wasnt enough to save Rennie, who thanked the club and its fans in a statement released on the Whitecaps official website. "In life we have different roles at different times, and although there is great satisfaction in taking a project to fruition there is also a strong sense of accomplishment from turning a team around and giving it a solid foundation for future success," the statement read. "It has been an absolute privilege to have played the role that I have for the Whitecaps and I look forward to watching the organization move forward from strength to strength. " Lenarduzzi said the search for a new coach will begin immediately, and whoever gets the job will be the Whitecaps fourth in four MLS seasons. The 38-year-old Rennies fate was probably sealed when Vancouver stumbled midway through the season, but the Scot also failed to win the Canadian championship in his two years at the Whitecaps helm, which would have qualified the club for the CONCACAF Champions League. "Theres a fine line between success and, what would be deemed to be failure, and we just need to give ourselves the best chance possible to be on the right side of that," said Lenarduzzi. Chris Harris Jr Broncos Jersey. . "Over the last two years we felt that thats perhaps the biggest problem weve had. "Making the playoffs, winning the (Canadian championship) are benchmarks for us. We havent been able to achieve that." There were also questions about Rennies squad selection, tactics and the development of some of Vancouvers younger players. "Theres always going to be grumblings of guys that arent happy based on whether they play or whether they think that the managers way of coaching are valid," said team captain Jay DeMerit, who does not yet have a contract for 2014. "No manager is going to keep 30 guys happy." The Whitecaps did win this years Cascadia Cup -- their only title since joining MLS -- which is a trophy awarded to the top team in head-to-head competition with the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers. Vancouver actually finished with more wins and points this season than it did in 2012 and had just one fewer victory than Portland, which finished as the No. 1 playoff seed in the ultra-tight Western Conference. Vancouver, which wound up seventh, also tied for fourth in MLS with 53 goals scored. Rennie joined the Whitecaps on Nov. 1, 2011, from the Carolina RailHawks of the second-tier United Soccer Leagues First Division after a disastrous first season in MLS that saw Vancouver go through two coaches and finish tied for last overall. Prior to Sundays victory over Colorado, Rennie seemed to be lobbying to keep his job. "If playoffs was the only barometer, then nine coaches would be gone every single year and that would leave MLS and every team in complete disarray," Rennie told reporters last week. "You cant do it that way. You have to build an organization over time. "When I came here this team was the worst team in MLS, it was in disarray and it was almost irrelevant in Vancouver. Now its a very relevant team and its poised to be a great team, so Im very pleased with how thats gone." Vancouvers run to the 2012 MLS playoffs was brief, with the Whitecaps exiting in the first round at the hands of the eventual-champion Los Angeles Galaxy. DeMerit said although Rennie, who was trumpeted as a young and innovative mind when he arrived in Vancouver, succeeded in helping to build the clubs foundation, a veteran coach might be whats needed to take the Whitecaps to the next level. "At key times, experience does matter, and how you progress is mainly calling on those experiences," said DeMerit. "I think maybe in key moments, that was part of Martins learning experience and hell be a better coach for that. "You want a coach thats been there. You want a coach with experience and you want a coach that can lead you in the right direction when it really matters." cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

The New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens have enjoyed more playoff success than all other teams over the last 15 years. Kurt Coleman Panthers Jersey . While New England has also been the leagues most dominant home team in the same span, that hasnt necessarily meant much against Baltimore in the postseason. New England hosts Baltimore in a divisional matchup Saturday as these teams continue what has developed into one of the NFLs best playoff rivalries in recent memory. Watch live coverage on CTV NOW. You can also listen to the game on TSN Radio 1050 in Toronto and TSN Radio 1260 in Edmonton. The Patriots (12-4) lead all teams with an 18-8 playoff record since 2000, while Baltimore (11-6) is second at 15-7. Their mirrored success has led to numerous run-ins, and Saturday marks their fourth postseason meeting in six years. Theres experience against this team, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said. We know a lot of their players and some of their schemes, but I think each time weve played them our team has been different, their team has been different. In the same time frame, New Englands 109 home wins in are at least 14 more than the second-most successful team. That includes a 12-3 postseason record. The Patriots, who are coming off a first-round bye for the fifth consecutive season, have home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs as they seek their first Super Bowl appearance in three years. They reached the leagues championship game two of the last three times they claimed the conferences top seed. Weve put ourselves in a good position, said Tom Brady, whose 18 playoff wins are the most in league history. Weve just got to take advantage of it. Though New England leads the all-time series 8-3, two of its three home playoff losses since 2000 have come in three meetings with Baltimore. The Ravens outscored the Patriots 21-0 in the second half of a 28-13 AFC championship game victory two years ago. Joe Flacco threw three touchdown passes while New England scored one TD on four red-zone possessions, with Brady being intercepted on each of his last two drives. Brady also threw two picks in the previous years AFC title game, but ran in the go-ahead touchdown in a 23-20 victory. Baltimore scored 24 first-quarter points, ran the ball 52 times and intercepted Brady three times in a 33-14 wild-card win following the 2009 season. These teams are vastly different in some respects from those meetings, however. The top two receivers from each club in the last matchup - Anquan Boldin and Dennis Pitta for Baltimore and Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker for New England - are not around. Ray Rice, who ran for 274 yards and three TDs in the three postseason meetings, is no longer with the Ravens. Cary Williams and Dannell Ellerbe are also gone after picking off Brady in the most recent playoff matchup. Given the differences, coach John Harbaugh downplayed Baltimores success in the postseason series. I dont think it really matters, he told the teams official website. Its a new game. Really, the past, the future, its just whoever plays best Saturday afternoon is going to be the team that wins the game. The Ravens are one of two teams, along with Carolina, with winning playoff road records. Baltimore is 10-5, tied with Green Bay for the most wins in league history despite playing at least two fewer games than all teams with seven or more such victories. Last weeks 30-17 victory in Pittsburgh was its third straight road playoff win. Harbaugh is 7-4, tied with Tom Coughlin and Tom Landry for the most road postseason wins in league history. I really dont have an explanation for that other than the fact that we played well, Harbaugh said. Youve got to play well on the road, obviously, to have a chance to win. Flaccos seven road playoff wins are a record. He has thrown for 17 TDs with one interception while winning six of his last seven postseason games and posted a 117.2 passer rating in Baltimores run to the 2012 title. He cashed in the following offseason with a six-year, $120.6 million deal. Harbaugh called Flacco the best quarterback in football after he was 18 of 29 for 259 yards and two TDs against the Steelers. He ranked 16th this season in terms of passer rating, but ranks 12th all-time in the playoffs. At the end of the day it doesnt really matter what everybody wants to think, Flacco said. It obviously means a lot for a head coach to stand up in front of everybody in the whole world and say those kind of things. Whether it really means anything, I dont know. But it definitely means a lot to me. New England coach Bill Belichick can tie Landry for the most playoff wins with his 20th, while Bradys 18 postseason wins lead all quarterbacks. Brady has thrown seven TDs with five interceptions while splitting his last six playoff games, however. He was 8 of 16 for 80 yards while playing only the first half in a Week 17 loss to Buffalo. The Patriots had already clinched home field. I dont think thats really useful, Brady said of recent playoff performances. We cant change what has happened. You just have to move forward and you have to think about the things that weve done really well this year. Greg Hardy Panthers Jersey . He played like an All-Star when the Pacers really needed it. After 48 hours of questions and criticism, Roy Hibbert scored a season-high 28 points, grabbed nine rebounds, blocked two shots and altered a handful of others to help the Pacers get even in the Eastern Conference semifinals with an 86-82 victory over Washington. Kony Ealy Jersey . Thats where their similarities end. Luck was the first overall pick in the 2012 draft and started from Day 1. Keenum joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent and spent all of last season on the practice squad. http://www.jerseyspanthersofficialshop.com/elite-michael-oher-panthers-jersey/ .com) - Tonight will go a long way in determining the two wild card spots in the Eastern Conference. On February 9, 2014, Michael Sam publicly declared he was a homosexual. The Missouri Tigers Defensive End and SEC Defensive player of the year is eligible for the upcoming NFL draft in May. The watershed announcement gives rise to a bit of a legal minefield and the league and teams will look to ensure that no lines are crossed. Lets break it down. Does the NFL have any rules any place protecting homosexuals from discrimination? They do have protection for homosexual players, although it wont apply unless Sam gets drafted. Article 49 of the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement provides that you cant discriminate against a player on the basis of "race, religion, national origin" or "sexual orientation". The reference to "sexual orientation" is brand new in the CBA, and the other 3 major sports also have a similar provision. Heres the catch: the CBA wont apply to Sam if hes not drafted. While the CBA provides that it covers all "present and future" players, it still restricts that player pool to drafted rookies or undrafted players who are negotiating with a team. If undrafted, Sam wouldnt qualify as either type of player. So that means if Sam goes undrafted, the NFL CBA wont apply to him. Is that it? Is there nothing else protecting a player like Sam? There is, but its not perfect. Theres no federal law prohibiting discrimination based upon sexual orientation. The existence of such a law would be ideal for Sam since it wouldnt matter where he would end playing since a federal law covers the entire country. There are laws at the state level, although not every state has them. In all, 21 states have laws on the books that prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation in the context of private employers. So that shakes out to 27 of the 32 NFL teams being the subject of gay employment protection laws. So which teams are in states where there arent state or other local laws protecting gay people? The five teams are as follows: Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals and Tennesseee Titans. Corey Brown Jersey. Heres the big question: if Michael Sam is not drafted, can he sue and win? Indeed, that is the big question. Sam is projected to be a mid to late round pick. In order to be successful in a lawsuit against the league he will need to show that he was not drafted because he is a homosexual. That can be tough in the context of a draft – even if it is true. We have seen the draft stock of players inexplicably drop in all the sports. We routinely see players drafted a lot later (or earlier) than projected. Apart from the top prospects, drafts can be highly unpredictable. Indeed, drafts are complicated beasts and it can be hard to show that a player wasnt drafted simply because he is gay. To have a shot at winning a lawsuit, Sam would need strong evidence supporting his case. He would be looking for things like incriminating statements or emails that provide that a team conspired not to draft Sam because of his sexuality. That may not be easy to find. Teams may pass on Sam because he is gay, but just never say it. Ultimately, Sam would need a smoking gun, and absent that he would have a tough time winning a lawsuit. Do you think teams will take a pass on Sam because hes gay? Reason would suggest that some teams may shy away from Sam because he is gay. From a philosophical standpoint, some executives may not be comfortable with the idea of a gay player. Other teams may not have an issue with his sexuality, but may still take a pass because they fear he will become a distraction. Indeed, we have already heard anonymous executives express this sentiment. While some may believe he could become a distraction, and by extension adversely affect his team, it seems unlikely to be the case. The NFL is filled with real and legitimate distractions: DUIs, domestic violence, vehicular manslaughter, murder and whatever Dez Bryant did last Sunday. None of these events have led to the downfall of a team or the demise of the league. And most certainly something as innocuous and irrelevant as a players sexuality wont become a problem. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (SportsNetwork. Nike Roshe Run Uomo .com) - Thursday marks the official debut of a new dirt racing surface at Meydan Racecourse. Home of the $10 million Dubai World Cup, Meydan Racecourse begins its first meeting of the 2014-15 racing season Thursday and introduction of its newly- installed dirt track. We were very pleased with tonights trials, observed Frank Gabriel, Dubai Racing Club Executive Director - Racing, following Tuesday nights trial run. The feedback from trainers and jockeys has been positive and we are excited about the new season. This is an important season for us as we will stage the 20th running of the Dubai World Cup and we look forward to welcoming top international horses to compete on the surface during the Dubai World Cup Carnival and on Dubai World Cup day. The worlds richest thoroughbred race will be conducted in 2015 on Saturday, March 28. Thursdays card has six races and is the first of 19 racedays I was ecstatic to hear of the return to dirt, said trainer Doug Watson, won both the trial races at Meydan on Tuesday. It seems to ride really well and we have horses in the yard who should suit this surface. Jockey Richard Mullen was impressed with the new dirt track at Meydan. The trial went very well, he said. There didnt seem to be much kick back at all. If you were behind horses at Nad Al Sheba you would certainly know about it, but there was much less of that today. The track rode a little slow but that is to be expected for a new track and we will see it quicken up with some watering and racing. Nike Roshe Run Saldi . OAKLAND, Calif. cheap nfl jerseys . -- Michael Brantley gets to head home celebrating a game-winning hit instead of dwelling on a rare error. Brantley atoned for a dropped fly ball by hitting a two-run single in the ninth inning off new Oakland closer Jim Johnson that helped the Cleveland Indians salvage a split of a day-night doubleheader with a 6-4 win over the Athletics in the nightcap Wednesday. "Its just a never-die attitude, never quit, always picking each other up and always fighting to the end," Brantley said. "What we did tonight was fun. It was special, and hopefully well use that momentum to keep going." Scott Kazmir (1-0) pitched 7 1-3 scoreless innings against his former team in his Oakland debut to help the As win the opener 6-1. They appeared to be on their way to a sweep when they took a 4-3 lead into the ninth with help from Brantleys dropped fly ball. But Johnson allowed back-to-back singles to Ryan Raburn and Nick Swisher to open the inning. After a one-out walk to Carlos Santana loaded the bases, Brantley grounded a single to right field to give the Indians the lead. "Any time you can win a game its always great, but especially in a doubleheader," said Mike Aviles, who homered earlier in the game. "Last thing you want to do is get on that plane after losing two." David Murphy added a sacrifice fly to end Johnsons night to a chorus of boos. Johnson also allowed two runs in the ninth inning to take the loss on opening night and is 0-7 with a 7.94 ERA in 17 games against the Indians. More importantly for As fans he has lost twice since taking over from Grant Balfour as closer. "We should be 3-0 and I take responsibility," Johnson said. "But if I sulk or pout its not going to do anyone any good. I have to be better." Cody Allen (2-0) pitched a scoreless eighth for the win and John Axford got three outs for his second save. The As had taken the lead when Brantley dropped a fly ball in left-centre that allowed Josh Donaldson to reach second and ended a club-record streak of 247 games in the outfield without an error. "They both called it at the same time," manager Terry Francona said. "Probably the most conscientious guy on the field is kicking himself. For him to get a hit like that was really great." Donaldson later scored on Brandon Moss single that made it 4-3. The teams played the earliest doubleheader in baseball history following the first rainout in Oakland since May 5, 1998, on Tuesday night. The previous earliest doubleheader came on April 7 in 1971, 74 and 96, according to STATS. Kazmir started the day off on the right note for Oakland, allowing three hits and no walks in 7 1-3 scoreless innings. He signed a $22 million, two-year contract in the off-season to replace All-Star Bartolo Colon in the rotation. Kazmirs importance in the rotation only grew when projected opening day starter Jarrod Parker was lost to a season-ending elbow injury and starter A.J. Griffin opened the season on the disabled list. "You always want to make that good first impression and thats what he did," catcher Derek Norris said. "If he had any type of pressure on his shoulders to do something good I think thats pretty much eliminated." Alberto Callaspo hit a two-run homer for the Athletics. Corey Kluber (0-1) failed to make it out of the fourth inning and lost for the first time in 13 starts since June 27. He gave up five runs and eight hits in 3 1-3 innings. He was hurt by a nearly five-minute replay delay in the second inning. The disputed play came with runners on first and third and one out when Josh Donaldson hit a grounder to third. Carlos Santana threw home and umpire Mark Wegner ruled that Gomes tagged Norris before he touched home. As manager Bob Melvin challenged the call but the ruling stood after a review of about 4 minutes, 45 seconds, because there was no conclusive evidence to overturn it. Kluber allowed an RBI single to Lowrie after the delay to fall behind 3-0. "By that point it was apparent I was searching and I dont think that had anything to do with it," Kluber said. "That being said, I thought it took way too long. It took away from the flow of the game and thats what they are trying to avoid." NOTES: Brantleys previous error came on June 3, 2012, against Minnesota. ... The Indians won a replay challenge in the second game when replay showed Nick Punto missed the tag on Aviles on a steal attempt of second base. The Victoria native picked up his second silver of the meet on Sunday, finishing behind a world-record performance by Chinas Sun Yang in the mens 1,500-metre freestyle. "My swim today was not really where I saw myself coming into these championships," said Cochrane. "I kind of just did what I needed to do to be second place. I think you can expect a lot more for me (in the future), especially the first half of the race. "I think that will really change up the environment when it comes to being in London." Yang broke Grant Hacketts world record that had stood for 10 years. He surged late in the race to finish in 14 minutes 34.14 seconds -- eclipsing Hacketts mark of 14:34.56 -- and beat Cochrane by more than 10 seconds. The Canadian plans to be aggressive in one of swimmings most gruelling races and believes hes among a group of "four or five" men who will challenge the world record again at the Olympics. "Im hoping going in to next year that I can lead from the start and see where that takes me," said Cochrane. "I want to stay competitive in this event. Were proving that we can actually be on the podium in multiple instances. "I think thats really good for the team going in to next year." Two other Canadian medals came in diving, and one in synchronized swimming. The only other action on Sunday saw the Canadian mens 4x100 medley relay finish seventh. That was good enough to qualify the country for a spot in that race at the Olympics. Even though Cochrane was feeling fatigued at the end of the world championships, he wasnt planning on enjoying much of a break after the competition. "Knowing that it is less than a year to the Olympics it will probably be three or four days off and then back to work," said Cochrane. "Im excited about that. It was against Atlanta, with the Saints committing four of them. For the season, the Saints are minus-11 in turnover margin. You really just keep yourself from having an opportunity to win a game, Payton said. Thats something that I obviously have to look closely at.That close look will come in the off-season.Payton said Monday there wouldnt be any wholesale changes in how the Saints approach the season-ending game at Tampa Bay on Sunday. Those who have played a role in New Orleans going 6-9 will carry a similar responsibility against the Buccaneers, a 2-13 team in position for the No. 1 pick in the draft.Well have our best guys out there and preparing and doing everything we would normally do if we were playing for a playoff spot, Payton said. It wont be a bit different. That means if the Saints finish 7-9, theyd have to eliminate the costly mistakes going into next season. And besides turnovers, the losses have piled up for a myriad of other reasons. The offence scored only 24 points in the final two home games of as the Saints finished with a five-game home losing sstreak. nike air max 90 essential suomi. The Saints havent allowed as many sacks as in 2013, when they gave up 37, but the ones they have given up this season have played a part in the inconstant play.Against Atlanta, which entered last in the league in sacks, the Saints allowed a season-worst five.New Orleans defence didnt hold up when it needed to in key situations. While the Saints have forced 15 fumbles, they have only recovered five of them.A group that finished No. 4 in the NFL last season is ranked 31st in yards allowed. The Saints are 30th in the league on third downs and have given up at least 400 yards seven times. We rarely put together a complete game — offence, defence and special teams, tight end Benjamin Watson said.New Orleans has one more opportunity to put together that complete game.Though Payton said preparation will be similar to any other week, it would be easy for the players to lose focus before heading into the off-season.Those in the locker room on Monday said getting ready for the Buccaneers wont be a problem, however. You cant just sit around and feel sorry for yourself all day, linebacker Parys Haralson said. VIENNA - Robin Haase of the Netherlands upset top-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-5, 7-6 (4) on Saturday to set up a final against Tommy Haas at the Erste Bank Open. Eddie George Jersey . The second-seeded Haas reached his third final of the season after rallying to beat Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (0). The German, who won in Vienna in 2001, earned his 14th career title in Munich in May. Haase held off four set points for Tsonga in the opening set. The 63rd-ranked Dutchman failed to serve out the match at 5-4 but won six of the last seven points in the tiebreaker against the eighth-ranked Frenchman, who had his left knee taped. "He was a bit injured and that made me nervous," said Haase, who had lost his last 14 matches against top-10 opponents since beating Andy Murray in Rotterdam in 2008. "You tend to keep the ball in play and wait for his mistakes," Haase said. "Later on, I managed to focus better on my own game." Tsonga declined to comment on his apparent injury and said he was going to prepare as usual for his upcoming events in Valencia and Paris. "I tried everything I could but it wasnt enough today," the Frenchman said. "I just didnt play well enough." It will be Haases fourth career final but first on a hard court. The Dutchman won both his career titles on clay in Austria — in Kitzbuehel in 2011 and 12. He lost the final in Gstaad, Switzerland three months ago. Haase has never played Haas before in an ATP event. "Maybe the referee should just call game Tommy and game Robin tomorrow," the Dutchman joked about their similar last names. Haas initially struggled for rhythm against the 44th-ranked Rosol, who hit 16 aces to raise his total for the tournament to 49 and conceded just two points on serve in the opening set. Haas couldnt convert his first break point at 3-2 but used his second to level the match. The final set went with serve before Haas dominated the tiebreaker. "I managed to play my best tennis on the big points and in the tiebreaker," Haas said. "That makes me very satisfied." The German led 6-0 when a penalty point for Rosol ended the match. After being warned earlier by referee Cedric Mourier, the Czech broke his racket by smashing it on the court. "Ive been on the circuit for 17 years but Ive never won a match without playing match point," the 35-year-old Haas said. Calgary enters Thursday having lost two of three and the Flames were stung by the former face of their franchise in Tuesdays 2-1 loss against Jarome Iginla and the Boston Bruins. Iginlas return to Calgary was a triumphant one, as the Bruins overcame a 1-0 deficit with a pair of late goals to down the Flames. Reilly Smith potted the game-winner for Boston with 4:33 left to play, a mere 98 seconds after David Krejci recorded the equalizer with the Bruins on the power play. Iginla, the Flames all-time leader in goals (525), points (1,095) and games played (1,219), faced the club he spent 16 highly productive seasons with for the first time since Calgary traded its longtime captain to Pittsburgh during last Aprils trade deadline. The revered 36-year-old received a warm and rousing ovation from the home crowd during introductions. "It brought back a lot of great memories," Iginla said of his return. Jiri Hudler had the lone goal for Calgary, which received 22 saves from Reto Berra in a losing cause. "I think the best way to describe this is a lack of maturity," Flames head coach Bob Hartley said of his team allowing Boston to get back in the game in the third. It was the third loss in Calgarys last four home games, dropping the club to 5-7-3 at the Saddledome this season. This evenings game marks the first meeting between the Canes and Flames since Calgary posted a 7-6 home win on Dec. 6, 2011. Igginla scored twice for the Flames in that win. Sammie Lee Hill Jersey. Calgary has taken five of seven from Carolina overall and the Hurricanes have dropped four straight and five of six at the Saddledome. Carolinas last win in Calgary came on Dec. 12, 2002. After consecutive losses to begin a four-game road trip, the Hurricanes hope to pick up a win in Calgary. The Hurricanes carried a three-game winning streak into this current trek, but lost 2-0 at Vancouver on Monday before dropping a 5-4 overtime decision the following night in Edmonton. However, Carolina did do a good job to even earn a point in Tuesdays setback, as they fell behind 4-1 to the Oilers before mounting a comeback. The Staal brothers -- Jordan and Eric -- each scored a goal to cut the deficit to 4-3 and Jeff Skinner tied it late in the third for Carolina. Eric Staals short-handed tally came 7:47 into the third period and Skinners tying marker was at the 14:46 mark. However, Jordan Eberle notched a power- play goal at 1:48 of OT to deliver the 5-4 victory for the hometown Oilers. "We showed some good jump battling back into the game," said Eric Staal. "Unfortunately, we had to kill a lot of penalties." In addition to goals from the Staals and Skinner, Carolina also received a tally from Tuomo Ruutu. Cam Ward took the loss after yielding all five goals on 29 shots. The loss dropped Carolina to 6-7-2 as the visiting team this season. INDIANAPOLIS -- The Eastern Conferences top team just got more imposing. L. P. Ladouceur Jersey . On Saturday, the Pacers added size and scoring punch to their roster by signing mercurial free agent centre Andrew Bynum for the rest of the season. Team officials did not release additional details about the contract and said Bynum was expected to join the team sometime next week. "We are obviously happy to have him join our team," Larry Bird said in a statement issued by the team less than 12 hours before Indiana hosted Brooklyn on Saturday night. "He gives us added size, he is a skilled big man and he has championship experience. With the minutes he gets, he should be a valuable addition." Adding a guy with Bynums mercurial reputation to a locker room as selfless as the Pacers is definitely a gamble, though likely a low-risk one since Bird, the Pacers president of basketball operations, has made it clear the Pacers would not pay the NBAs luxury tax and Indiana had an open spot on its roster. But if Bynum performs as he did in helping the Lakers win back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010, it could create even more lineup mismatches against two-time defending champion Miami in the East. Indiana (35-10) entered Saturday with a three-game lead over the Heat in the chase for home-court advantage and has made no secret of its desire to get the top seed in its quest to win the teams first NBA crown. Bynum will give the Pacers another big body off the bench, backing up All-Star centre Roy Hibbert. And his offensive skills give Indiana another scorer to go with the leagues best defence. Miami, which struggled against Indianas size during last seasons Eastern Conference finals, tried to close the gap by signing the oft-injured former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden, an Indianapolis native, last summer. Oden has played sparingly this season, though he has been improving. Saturdays move could give the Pacers an even bigger advantage -- if the 7-foot-1, 285-pound centre returns to his previous form. The move also prevents the Heat from signing Bynum as had been widely speculated. But Bynum is far from a sure thing. After the Lakers traded Bynum to Philadelphia in 2012, he missed the entire season because of knee injuries. This season, after signing with Cleveland as a free agent, he played in only 24 games before he was suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team. He was eventually dealt to Chicago, which quickly released Bynum so it didnt have to guarantee the remaining $6 million owed to him this season. Since then, Bynum has been looking for a landing spot and finally settled on Indiana. "It really wasnt a hard decision, I think its the right fit for me and, in all honesty, I think weve got the best chance of winning," Bynum said in a statement. "It will be great to back up Roy and Ill do whatever I can to help this team." With Cleveland, he averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds. He has career averages of 11.5 points per game and 7.7 rebounds, and his best season came in 2011-12 when he averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds with the Lakers. Jasper Brinkley Cowboys Jersey . "It has to have the viewers and the sponsors. I think this is a really good test." Tour de France Director Jean-Francois Pescheux said he was already looking to the future. NEW ORLEANS -- Portland was trailing by three points with under five minutes left in the game and Damian Lillard was determined to keep the Trail Blazers losing streak from reaching five games. UGG Boots Cyber Monday UK CHEAP . Lillard nailed a 3-pointer from the corner to tie the game and give Portland the momentum it needed to snap its four-game skid with a 111-103 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night. Anthony Davis scored a career-high 36 points for New Orleans and Brian Roberts added 19. Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon added 16 apiece after both missed one game because of illness. Portland was trailing 94-89 with 7:30 to go in the fourth quarter when Lillard scored the games next seven points, and his jumper with 4:15 gave the Trail Blazers the lead for good at 96-94. "Up to that point I hadnt been able to get it going the entire game," Lillard said. "... Coach Stotts just kept deciding to put me in ball screens and in situations where I could attack; especially late in the game. My shot started to fall. I was able to make some plays and get it going a little bit." Wrapping up a five-game road trip, Portland opened the game on a 10-2 run. From there it became a back-and-forth affair that featured 18 lead changes with no team ever having a double-digit advantage. Davis alley-oop dunk with under 3 seconds to go in the half gave the Pelicans a 55-53 lead at the break. "A much-needed win needless to say," Stotts said. "I was proud of the way we competed and kept focused. ... Everybody that was on the floor tonight really had an impact on the game." The game was tied 75-75 with 3:36 to go in the third quarter when the Pelicans went on a 6-0 run to grab an 81-75 lead. They stayed in front until midway through the final quarter, when Lillard scored 16 points to lead Portland to victory. Emotional throughout the game, particularly after his jumper gave Portland the lead for good in the fourth quarter, Lillard said the victory was crucial to his teams post-season hopes. "I mean we had lost four games in a row," he said. "Then we finally were able to close a team out in the fourth quarter and come away with the victory. It was a great feeling." New Orleans coach Monty Williams wasnt surprised by Lillards performance. "You know what hes capable of doing," he said. "Some of the stuff is un-guardable like the last 3-pointer he made. Our guys know that when hes going left late game, you know hes going to raise up. We just didnt execute that well. Weve played against him a number of times the past two years so youve got to know what to expect." Davis scored 30-plus points for the sixth time this season "I didnt care about that," he said. "I only care about winning. We lost, so all of that is up to you guys. We just didnt get the stops. I missed some shots. They (Portland) made some shots. We just have to defend. We cant let them score thirty-something points in one quarter. We especially need to defend." Landeskog, who had the games first goal, fired a shot from the wing that bounced away from goalie Peter Budaj. PHILADELPHIA -- Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino is among the latest group of football players to file a concussion-related lawsuit against the National Football League. Nike Free 5.0 Damen . The 52-year-old former Miami Dolphins quarterback is one of 15 former players who filed a lawsuit in federal court in Philadelphia last week. Marino and the other 14 plaintiffs join more than 4,800 others who have alleged the NFL misled players about the long-term dangers of concussions. The NFL has denied those claims. The lawsuit doesnt specify any medical problems suffered by the plaintiffs including Marino, who retired in 1999. It seeks unspecified damages and medical monitoring. The NFL and the original group of players agreed on a $765 million settlement last August. But the settlement was rejected by a federal judge in January. Nike Free Günstig . Oviedo, one of his countrys top players, was taken to hospital after being hurt in a challenge in the 14th minute of the fourth-round match against Stevenage. "Bryan was trying to win the ball but unfortunately I think he has picked up a double fracture, the tibia and the fibula," Martinez said. Nike Air Max 1 Herren . Stults (3-11), winless in his last nine starts, was victorious for the first time since a 9-3 victory over Miami on May 10. "It was a real tough game, I think, for L.A," Vigneault said. "It was probably their best game of the playoffs that theyve played against us." And it was a loss, as the Kings failed to finish off the sweep thanks to 40 saves by Henrik Lundqvist, one by Anton Stralman and one by a combination of snow built up in the crease and Derek Stepan.A pair of Western Canadian NHL teams travel east tonight as the Vancouver Canucks face the Buffalo Sabres and the Edmonton Oilers battle the New York Islanders. The Vancouver Canucks will face former teammate Cody Hodgson and the Buffalo Sabres when the clubs meet in tonights clash at First Niagara Center. The Sabres were 0-6-1 through the first seven games of 2013-14, but finally picked up a victory in Tuesdays road tilt against the New York Islanders. Tyler Ennis scored the deciding goal during the second round of the shootout to lift the Sabres to a come-from-behind win at Nassau Coliseum. The 4-3 shootout decision ended a club record-tying streak for futility at the start of the season. The last time Buffalo went seven games into a campaign without a victory was in 1999-2000, when the Sabres recorded five losses and two ties. The Sabres trailed 3-2 before Marcus Foligno found the back of the net with 2:01 remaining in the third period, and Thomas Vanek and Ennis both converted their shootout opportunities before Ryan Miller officially stopped Buffalos losing streak with a save on John Tavares. Ennis and Vanek also scored in regulation, while Miller racked up 41 saves prior to stoning two of New Yorks three skaters in the shootout. "It was a great job by our guys," said Miller. "Glad to get that (first win)." Buffalo now has a chance to earn its first home win of the season, having posted an 0-3-1 mark in Western New York so far. Thursdays contest marks the start of a three-game homestand for the Sabres, who also will welcome Colorado and Boston during the residency. Sabres forward Hodgson will play his second career game against the Canucks, who drafted him with the 10th overall pick in the 2008 draft before eventually trading him to Buffalo for fellow forward Zack Kassian during the 2011-12 season. Hodgson played at Vancouver on March 3, 2012, less than one week after the trade, but did not record a point in that meeting. Kassian had one goal and one assist in that game, which Buffalo won by a 5-3 score. Hodgson has one goal and five assists in eight games this season. Kassian, meanwhile, has failed to record a point for the Canucks in two games since returning from a suspension for a high-sticking incident against Edmonton in the preseason. All told, Hodgson has 19 goals and 48 points in 76 games since the trade, while Kassian has posted eight goals and six assists over 58 contests with the Canucks. Vancouver had lost two straight regulation games by identical 4-1 scores before ending the brief slide with Tuesdays win in Philadelphia. Ryan Kesler scored a pair of goals, including the deciding tally with 2:25 left in regulation, to help the Canucks open a seven-game road trip on a positive note. The Canucks trailed the Flyers by a 2-1 count heading into the third period, but Vancouver scored the only two goals of the final 20 minutes to take a 3-2 decision. Chris Higgins added a goal and one assist and tied the game at 2-2 with 12:29 remaining in the third period, setting up Keslers game-winner. Henrik Sedin posted two helpers for the Canucks, while Roberto Luongo stopped 20 shots for the win. "It was a nice one, especially since the couuple of guys that scored goals had been working hard all year so far, but hadnt gotten rewarded much," Luongo said. Nike Free 3.0 Herren. "So its nice that they both contributed in a huge way there." Vancouver is 2-1-0 as the visiting team this season and will continue its swing this Saturday in Pittsburgh. The Sabres have won four of the last five meetings against the Canucks. Buffalo also has claimed three in a row and five of the past six encounters in Western New York. EDMONTON OILERS vs. NEW YORK ISLANDERS A couple of teams desperate for a victory will meet Thursday on Long Island when the New York Islanders host the Edmonton Oilers at Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders are 2-2-2 on the season and enter Thursday riding an 0-2-1 losing streak. New York dropped the first two games of this slide on the road, but couldnt break the trend in Tuesdays home game against the Buffalo Sabres, who recorded a 4-3 shootout win to earn their first victory of the season. New York led the Sabres 3-2 after Matt Moulsons power-play goal with 11:16 remaining in the third period. However, Marcus Foligno netted the equalizer for Buffalo with 2:01 left in regulation and Tyler Ennis notched the decisive goal for the Sabres in the shootout. Thomas Vanek and Ennis both converted their shootout opportunities for Buffalo before Ryan Miller officially sealed the win for the Sabres with a save on John Tavares. In addition to Moulsons score, the Islanders also received goals from Frans Nielsen and Matt Martin, while Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 31 shots in the loss. "We put a lot of pucks on net today," said Tavares. "We didnt get the result we wanted. When we have a lead, we have to bear down and find a way to get the job done." New York is 1-0-2 on home ice this season and is playing the second test of a four-game stand on Thursday. Edmonton has just one win in seven games (1-5-1) this season and the club will be aiming for its first victory at Nassau Coliseum since 1999 when it takes the ice on Thursday. The Oilers have dropped six in a row on Long Island since last earning a road win against the Isles on Dec. 14, 1999. New York has taken two of three and eight of the last 11 meetings in this series overall. The Oilers last played on Tuesday when they dropped a 3-2 regulation decision in Pittsburgh. Evgeni Malkin potted the game-winner on the power play 7:20 into the third period to hand Edmontons its fourth straight loss. Jordan Eberle and Ales Hemsky each scored once for the Oilers, while Jason LaBarbera stopped 25-of-28 shots. "Its about wins and losses and weve got to find ways to win games," LaBarbera said. "Thats the bottom line. Everyone of us can step it up a bit more and just find a way to get a win and get a good feeling in here." Its unclear if LaBarbera or the struggling Devan Dubnyk will get the start tonight for the Oilers. Dubnyk entered this season as the clubs clear No. 1 goaltender, but he is 0-3-1 with an astronomical 5.43 goals against average and .829 save percentage in four games. The Oilers are 0-2-1 so far on a six-game road trip and will play the next portion of the swing Saturday in Ottawa. cheap jerseys cheap jerseys cheap nfl jerseys Ray Ban Outlet Michael Kors Outlet Michael Kors Sale Cheap Michael Kors ' ' '

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Girouxs teammates had a feeling he would end his 21-game goal drought Saturday. Nike Free Og Femme . "I knew he was going to score tonight," Wayne Simmonds said. "I think he could kind of feel it. Hes getting a million chances all year long, and then finally he put that one in." Girouxs third-period goal in the Flyers 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers was his first of the season, and first since April 15. Jay Rosehill, Scott Hartnell and Vinny Lecavalier also scored for the Flyers, who had more than two goals for only the second time in 16 games this season. But for Giroux, the goal was more than a goal. "It was obviously a lot of relief," Giroux said. "To see all the boys on the bench being happy too, I think that was really fun. But you know what, its a big win for us. And we go on the road now, and weve got to get on a roll here." David Perron and Taylor Hall scored for Edmonton. Ilya Bryzgalov, the former Flyers goalie who signed with the Oilers on Friday, was not at the game. The game marked the Flyers first win at the Wells Fargo Center since Oct. 24 against the New York Rangers, and ended a stretch of 175:22 during which they had gone without a goal at home -- a franchise record. They seemed to surprise the Oilers, who were expecting to face far less pressure from a Flyers team that ranks last in the NHL in goals per game. "That was a team that had been described as fragile," Hall said. "But I thought they came out and played really hard and won a lot more battles than we did." The Oilers, actually, controlled the pace early. It wasnt until Giroux drew an interference call on Anton Belov at 7:20 of the first period that his team woke up. The Flyers didnt score during the power play, but Rosehill did at 11:56, just moments later. Mark Streit, who set up Rosehills goal, also set up the goal that followed it with a cross-ice pass to Hartnell at 17:16. The Flyers first period was their first multi-goal period since they hosted the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 29. It was the fourth period all season the team scored more than a single marker. "Probably everybodys a little bit surprised with their struggles with scoring so far this year with the personnel they have," Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk said. Despite being largely outplayed in the games final two periods, the Oilers managed to stay within a goal for most of the afternoon. They cut the Flyers lead in half when Perron scored on the power play at 18:25 of the second period. Third periods have been the Flyers worst all season - as a number of players have said, theyve often found ways to lose. But they took to heart words that were shared during a players-only meeting Thursday, and hit the ice with confidence in the third period. Facing the NHLs worst defence didnt hurt, either. "The attitude in the room, if they get a late goal, usually were kind of down," Giroux said. "They got a late goal in the second, and you know what, the attitude was great. I was responsible for that goal at the end of the second, and guys stayed positive, and we just stayed with it and kept playing our game." Giroux, at 11:26, was the Flyer who beat Dubnyk next, to bring the score to 3-1. The crowd rose to its feet and stayed there as Giroux was greeted by Steve Mason, who left his crease to congratulate his captain. Mason finished with 24 saves. Hall again cut the Flyers lead to a single goal at 13:25, but it didnt last. Lecavaliers shot at 16:33 flew high over Dubnyks shoulder, and the Oilers simply couldnt fight their way out of their own zone in the little time that remained. With the win, the Flyers improved to 5-9-1. The Oilers (4-12-2) are last the Western Conference. For the Flyers, the win is something to build upon as they embark on a three-game trip, starting Tuesday in Ottawa. "Its great," Hartnell said. "We didnt hear a boo all night here at home, first time in a long time. Our efforts havent been great at home and we wanted a big effort 60-minute game and thats something we did tonight. "We have to continue that and carry that forward." NOTES: Edmontons Luke Gazdic (shoulder) left the game in the second period and did not return. Belov received a match penalty for a hit on Giroux. . The game was just the seventh of 16 this season in which the Flyers scored more than one goal. ... SOCHI, Russia – No player entered the Olympics on more of a roll than Phil Kessel. Cheap NFL Jerseys . And that scorching performance kept right on going on the grand stage here in Sochi. Kessel scored once and added two assists as the Americans opened their bid at gold redemption with a 7-1 rout of Slovakia at Shayba Arena. "Hes on fire," said Leaf and American teammate James van Riemsdyk, who had two assists paired with Kessel and Joe Pavelski at the outset of the Olympic tournament. "The game I think is coming to him really easy right now. Hes working hard, creating a lot and he seems to be on fire." Kessel has been downright dominant since the calendar turned to 2014. The 26-year-old has a league-leading 28 points since Jan. 1 (John Tavares is second with 22), vaulting to fourth in NHL scoring with 65 points, also second behind Alex Ovechkin with 31 goals. Sizzling through the hottest stretch of his NHL career, he led the Leafs to 11 wins in 14 games before the Olympic break. "Hes a game-breaker, does a lot of things out there that a lot of guys cant do," van Riemsdyk said of Kessel shortly after landing in Russia. Kessel has, in one game mind you, exceeded the production he managed in totality at his first Olympics in Vancouver. Then just 22, he managed a mere two points (one goal, one assist) in six games as the US fell just short of gold, losing in overtime of the gold medal game. "Obviously that was a long time ago the last one," said Kessel of 2010. "Im a little older now." Dropping a pass to John Carlson for the games first goal, Kessel notched his first marker of the tournament on a doorstep feed from van Riemsdyk. He added a helper on the fourth American goal from David Backes. Van Riemsdyk, his linemate and roommate here in Sochi, fully expected to be nervous when his first-ever Olympic tilt kicked off, but said the nerves cooled being around the increasingly steady Kessel. "I dont know if he knows hes doing it, but he keeps it very light," said van Riemsdyk. "The bigger the stage, I think thats when his true colours come out. It shows how good of a player he can be." "Its tough when you were the guy that probably hurt him, too, which was me," Jones-Drew said. "You never want to run up anyones back like that. He was doing so well. He was coming along." TAMPA, Fla. Super Bowl Jerseys China . -- Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston has no plans to stop being a two-sport man. "Im just 20-years old," Winston said Tuesday after Florida State lost 8-3 in the New York Yankees spring training opener. "This is my life, man. I want to play both as long as I can. I love both of them. Ive got a strong passion for both." Florida States quarterback in the fall, Winston went 0 for 2 in the Seminoles exhibition game against the Yankees. He grounded out to second base while facing Shane Greene in the sixth and struck out looking on a full-count pitch from Bryan Mitchell two innings later. "Obviously, hes a great talent," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "I guess he had a football injury in the championship game which kept him from hitting for a while. But hes just starting to pick up the bat again. I guess he had torn a ligament in his left index finger." Winston has made three scoreless appearances as a closer this season but didnt get a chance to pitch against his favourite baseball team. Seminoles coach Mike Martin said Winstons arm was a little tender after his outing Saturday. "There were really not any plans for him to pitch," Martin said. "Not throwing today gives him Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday off before he pitches again. We felt that would be the best way to approach it." Florida State plays Miami on Friday. Winston played in the field twice previously this year, getting a hit in his lone at-bat. Against Greene, the 6- foot-4, 230-pound sophomore got a big cheer from the announced crowd of 7,708 at Steinbrenner Field after shattering his bat on foul grounder. "The favourite part of the day was just being out here," Winston said. "Being around a bunch of big league guys, and they proved it. They beat us." Winston talked with his favourite player, Derek Jeter, calling the meeting "surreal." Winston said playing for the Yankees "would be a dream come true." "I guess it feels like when I talk to little kids, how they feel sometimes," Winston said. "Theyre speechless, and thats how I was with Jeter." Winston led the Florida State football team to the national championship in a 34-31 victory over Auburn on Jan. 6. "Im focusing on getting our guys to the College World Series," he said. Transcript:"On December 2nd I received a fax from Commissioner Paul Tagliabue informing me the Bills are being fined $50,000 for criticism on my part of officiating in the last moments of our game with New England. Seattle Seahawks Jerseys China . I described two calls, back-to-back, as probably the worst I have witnessed in the 60 years I have watched pro football. Those two calls cost the Bills a very important game, one in which out team fought back very courageously from a substantial deficit. Society today is more enlightened. Fair comment and criticism are rampant. The entire media as a unit is frank and the millions watching a game are frank. But the Commissioner lecturing to me as if I were a novice, instead of one who has been involved in football infinitely longer than he has, contends that criticizing a call has "destructive and corrosive effects on the game."What is more destructive and corrosive – errant calls in front of millions of viewers or my statements of opinion? People all over the country registered shock at the way officials, however honourable their purpose, took the game away from us. Even the league has admitted to us that the calls near the conclusion of the game were incorrect. On Monday morning the Commissioner can sermonize on destruction and corrosion, but he has never experienced the pain of blowing a crucial game due to officiating. I have yet to decide whether or not I will pay or challenge the fine. But, at 80, I do know I dont need pompous lectures from the Commissioner and I feel that the $50,000 is not only unwarranted, but punitive in nature. The next time he may ask me to sit in corner."
