MILWAUKEE -- A little veteran leadership got the young Milwaukee Bucks back on the winning track. http://www.baseballindiansauthentic.com/bob-feller-indians-jersey/ . Caron Butler scored 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out four assists in his return to the lineup after missing 12 games with a swollen left knee, leading the Bucks to a 106-96 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday night. "The thing this team has desperately missed from him is his leadership," Milwaukee coach Larry Drew said of the 12-year NBA veteran. "Throughout the game he was on the court talking, pumping his teammates up. We had a couple of bad stretches, but he kept the guys positive. Thats something weve missed with him being gone." The hot-shooting Bucks recovered from consecutive overtime losses to pick up just their sixth win of the season. Khris Middleton scored 27 points and Brandon Knight added 21 points and six assists for the Bucks (6-21). Butler played nearly 40 minutes in his return, something that Drew said wasnt part of the game plan for the chronically short-handed Bucks. "Coach stayed in my ear consistently the whole game asking me how I felt," Butler said. "I got a rhythm early. We had the game under control from the beginning." Milwaukee, owner of the leagues worst record, led most of the game and built a 19-point cushion early in the fourth quarter, matching its largest lead in any game this season. The 76ers pulled within seven with about one minute remaining, but the Bucks converted 10 consecutive free throws to secure the win. Butler praised Middleton, a second-year player, and rookies Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Miroslav Raduljica, who contributed a season-high 14 points. "(Middleton) did a great job of loosening up everything. He was finding pockets and getting in the paint and hitting floaters. I thought Giannis did a great job continuing to run the floor. (Raduljica) was huge. He was banging down there and making good decisions and keeping the ball high and not turning it over." The injury-depleted Bucks played without starting centre John Henson, who bruised his knee in a collision with the Cavaliers Anderson Varejao in the loss at Cleveland Friday night. Hensons absence left Middleton as the lone Milwaukee player to appear in all 27 games this season. Raduljica, who has played sparingly at times this season, filled in nicely in Hensons absence. "Im here to help and I think Im doing that every time I get a chance," Raduljica said. "We had two really unlucky losses and we had Caron back with great energy and he gathered us around him and everybody took part of his energy and that allowed us to win." Thaddeus Young had 30 points and 10 rebounds to lead Philadelphia. Spencer Hawes added 25 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams were coming off overtime games Friday. The Bucks lost 114-111 at Cleveland, their fifth consecutive defeat, while the 76ers nipped the Brooklyn Nets 121-120 at home. "As a group, our only hope to play some semblance of NBA defence is by committee," 76ers coach Brett Brown said. "When different pieces go missing, or it is not a collective toughness and focus, then we are vulnerable. At times we were vulnerable tonight. In general, trying to find 48 minutes worth of defence has been a problem." The Bucks shot 52 per cent from the field for the game, compared with 41 per cent for the 76ers. "You are not going to win a whole lot of games giving up that kind of efficiency to the other team," Hawes said. After trailing by 10 at the half, the 76ers opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run. The Bucks regained control with a 15-4 run midway through the quarter and held an 85-72 heading into the fourth. Middleton led the Bucks with 10 points in the quarter. The Bucks held a double-digit lead for nearly the entire second quarter, growing their margin to as many as 15 with two minutes remaining. Milwaukee, bolstered by 51 per cent shooting over the first two quarters, held a 59-49 lead at halftime. Knight had 17 first-half points, while Butler added 13 points and seven rebounds. Young had 15 points and eight rebounds in the first half for Philadelphia, which shot just 40 per cent. The Bucks grabbed a 29-23 lead after the first quarter, paced by Middletons seven points. NOTES: Philadelphia has lost 12 consecutive road games. . Former MLB star and one-time Milwaukee Brewers executive Sal Bando visited Bucks coach Larry Drew before the game. "Sal played in Kansas City, which is where Im from. He was one of my heroes. I came up playing baseball. It was my passion. Basketball was secondary," Drew said. . Hey Kerry, Big fan of your column on TSN. It helps put things perspective from the official’s point of view. Speaking ahead of this weekends Bahrain Grand Prix, which will be a night race for the first time, Domenicali said rival engine manufacturers Mercedes and Renault have an advantage on Renault because their road-car divisions have more experience with fuel-efficient six-cylinder engines, which have come into F1 this year. "We know that other engine manufacturers have advanced knowledge because they use that technology in their road cars, so we knew it was not going to be easy," Domenicali said on the official F1 website. "But we know the areas where we need to improve and falling into disappointment doesnt help." "If Mercedes keeps the pace it will be very difficult to match them." Ferrari has been well off the pace of the Mercedes team and Renault-powered Red Bull in the first two races in Austrralia and Malaysia, with Fernando Alonsos two fourth-place finishes the best the Italian team could manage. http://www.baseballindiansauthentic.com/jason-kipnis-indians-jersey/. Domenicalis discussions with Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel in the paddock at last weekends Malaysian Grand Prix sparked renewed speculation that Ferrari was interested in signing the German, but the Ferrari chief insisted his team was satisfied with the performance of current drivers Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen, who simply need a better car. "That is the urgent need, and it has to happen very soon," Domenicali said. "So far Fernando has proved to be fast immediately. Kimi needs some time to understand the car, but you can see he is getting there. I am sure from the drivers side there will not be a problem. "Sebastian is a fantastic driver, a four-time champion. Thats a fact. We as Ferrari are very pleased with what we have, and I am sure that Sebastian is also pleased with his situation because it looks as if he can fight again." BROSSARD, Que. Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 32 Baratas . -- Dale Weise is finding out what its like to be a Montreal Canadien when theyre winning in the springtime. The city groaned when general manager Marc Bergevin sent defenceman Raphael Diaz to Vancouver Canucks for the little-known Weise on Feb. 3, but now the energetic fourth-line right-winger is becoming a folk hero. His breakaway goal in Game 3 of a NHL Eastern Conference semifinal on Tuesday night became his second game-winner of the playoffs as the Canadiens downed the rival Boston Bruins 4-2 to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Weise had scored in overtime in the first game of an opening round sweep of the Tampa Bay Lightning. His first taste of his new-found fame came this week when he was out for a stroll with his fiancee, with seven-month-old son Hunter in a stroller. "This car pulled over right on the sidewalk," Weise said Wednesday. "The guy was in the drivers seat and I was on the right side. "In the middle of the green light hes reached across and hes banging on the window and yelling. My fiancees like what is this guy doing? Shes freaking out, and hes giving me the thumbs up. It was pretty outrageous." Weise will have a chance to grow his legend even more in Game 4 on Thursday night at the Bell Centre, as the Canadiens attempt to put a choke hold on the series. Taking a lead on the favoured Bruins has built a considerable buzz in Montreal, but a series in which Boston has looked overwhelming at times is far from over. The Canadiens blew 2-0 and 3-2 leads before winning in overtime in the series opener. Then they wasted a 3-1 lead by conceding four third-period goal in a 5-3 setback in Game 2 in Boston. At home on Tuesday night, Montreal scored twice in the first period and made it 3-0 on Weises goal before the Bruins struck back with a pair. Lars Eller ended the threat with a final-minute empty-net goal. "This is such a huge rivalry," said Weise. "When they meet in the regular season its looked at like a playoff match-up. Its such a cool thing to be a part of." The Bruins acknowledge they did not have their best game, staring with goalie Tuukka Rask who allowed three goals on 25 shots and who now has let in 10 in three games. Perhaps for the first time in the playoffs, they missed injured defence veterans Dennis Seidenberg and Adam McQuaid, as youngster Dougie Hamilton in particular struggled at times. McQuaid is gone for the season, and while Seidenberg is skating, there was no word on when he may return. But the Bruins can never be counted out, as theyve shown repeatedly in recent seasons. "Were a group thats confident, but we have guys now that are frustrated," said Boston coach Claude Julien. "They know they have to be better and they will be better. "Its a 2-1 series. Its not the end of the world here. Weve just got to battle back. Theres no reason to panic. We havent in the past and were not about to panic now." The Canadiens had surprises for Boston, including a tweak of the top two lines that saw Thomas Vanek put on the second unit with Tomas Plekanec and Michael Bournival while the pesky Brendan Gallagher moved up with David Desharnais and Max Pacioretty. Montreal also got a strong 26-save outing from goalie Carey Price and a third straight two-point game from defenceman P.K. Subban, who has 11 points in the last six playoff games. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Subban is the first Canadiens defenceman to record a six-game playoff point streak since Larry Robinson in 1985. "He is a game changer," Gallagher said of Subban. "Hes just giving us a lot of energy right now." The Canadiens also used one of their strengths, shot-blocking, to turn away 29 attempts before they could reach Price. "Theyre taking away a lot of scoring chances," said Boston forward Shawn Thornton. "They came out with a lot of energy. "I thought our pace was pretty good, but if you give up a couple of goals, then youre chasing. We have to shore it up and hopefully get back to the way we were used to playing." It has all conspired to make it a pleasant time to be Canadien, especially for a newcomer like Weise. The 25-year-old had a goal and an assist for his first playoff game with more than one point and only the second of his 192-game NHL career. He was one of three pickups ahead of the March 5 NHL trade deadline, along with defenceman Mike Weaver and Vanek, who have been key contributors to the Canadiens playoff run. Weise may not even have had a chance to play had Travis Moen and Alex Galchenyuk not been injured when the playoff started. Now it is hard to see how coach Michel Therrien could take him out. Although he is from Winnipeg, Weise grew up a Montreal fan, mainly because his father worshipped the Canadiens. So he considered the trade a dream come true. In his third season in Vancouver, Weise was ignored by coach John Tortorella, but landed on his feet as a regular fourth liner in Montreal. He was scratched three games in a row late in the season, but has been ball of energy since then. He considered it a wake-up call. And now hes getting the rock star treatment from Canadiens fans, which he said never happened before, even in a hockey market like Vancouver. "I was in a grocery store and I was walking into an elevator and this guy wouldnt let me get on the elevator," a grinning Weise recalled of another recent incident. "He was grabbing my shoulder, he was so excited and pumped up. "Then his buddy beside him said relax, relax and the elevator was closing and he kept saying Im sorry, Im sorry. I love the passionate fans. I think its awesome." Nike Air Zoom Structure 18 . Louis.Bochy said before Sundays regular-season finale against San Diego that he felt comfortable with Bumgarner or Jake Peavy on the mound. But given Bumgarners success the last few years, he said I dont think there was any question who you pitch that game. Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 31 Hombre Oscuro Azules/carmesí/Blancas Running Zapatos . Kane, who was leading Chicago in scoring when he was hurt in a game against St. Louis on March 19, resumed skating on his own five days ago. On Wednesday, he skated with his teammates for the first time in the hours before a game against Montreal. http://www.blazeronline.es/nike-blazer-mid/nike-blazer-mid-hombre.html . CSNPhilly.com reports that the 26-year-old wide receiver will sign a four-year deal with the team on Thursday.Tempe, AZ - Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians confirmed Monday that quarterback Carson Palmer tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be placed on injured reserve. Palmer, 34, suffered the injury when he was sacked by Rams safety Mark Barron early in the fourth quarter of Arizonas 31-14 win over St. Louis on Sunday. Its just a shame it happened now, with this team, said Arians. Palmer remained on the ground in obvious pain before limping off the field. He was then carted back to the locker room. Drew Stanton threw a late touchdown pass in relief of Palmer, helping the Cardinals improve to 8-1 and remain perfect in five home games this season. Stanton will be under center for the Cardinals the rest of the season. As far as our football team,, everybody in the locker room, including myself, has all the confidence in the world in Drew, Arians added. Nike Flyknit Lunar 2 Baratas. Palmer, who missed three games earlier this season with a shoulder injury, had reconstructive surgery on the same knee in 2006 as a member of the Bengals. Both of his ACL tears came just days after signing lucrative contract extensions. On Dec. 29, 2005, Palmer agreed to a six-year extension with Cincinnati. On Jan. 8, 2006, the Bengals met Pittsburgh in the first round of the AFC playoffs and Palmer lasted just one play, injuring his knee on a 66-yard pass to rookie Chris Henry. Palmer signed a three-year, $50 million contract extension with Arizona last Friday. Arians said Palmer is expected to return to football in June or July. Urijah Faber cant wait to hear the cheers when he climbs into the cage in Sacramento on Saturday night. Curtis Granderson Jersey . The California Kid loves fighting in his hometown, and hes bringing a whole bunch of his friends along with him when he takes on Michael McDonald. "Im a big guy on energy," Faber said. "Being in a place thats really comfortable and having a crowd thats going to be putting off some great vibes and having my whole team with me is going to be huge." The UFC is back in Californias capital city this weekend for a show that might as well be called the Team Alpha Male Invitational. Faber and three of his teammates are all competing on the card, headlined by UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnsons title defence against Alpha Males Joseph Benavidez. Benavidez is in the main event, but the star attraction is Faber (29-6), who hasnt been the hometown favourite for a while. He is fighting in Sacramento for the first time in nine bouts since April 2010, and for the first time since he joined the UFC when the lower-weight WEC promotion was absorbed by the sports dominant organization. Faber is on a roll with three straight stoppage victories in 2013, and the former UC Davis wrestler should be in line for a bantamweight title shot if he gets past McDonald (16-2), who has won nine of his last 10 fights. Hes grateful for the chance to do it at home. "As Ive matured and gotten older and understand things a little bit better, I just realize how important it is to stay behind a community," Faber said. "And I feel like Ive really become a part of this community on bigger level. Were fighting for a lot of different things. Were fighting for the pride of an area. Were fighting for the economy. It was really cool to see everyone come together and save the Kings, so I see this is as me and my guys doing our part." McDonald isnt an Alpha Male, but hes also NorCal to the core, born and raised in Modesto -- and hes 12 years younger than the 34-year-old Faber. McDonald lost his bantamweight title shot in February when Renan Barao stopped him, but bounced back with a submission victory over Brad Pickett in August. McDonald got into the sport during Fabers rise to the top, and he isnt worried about getting local love in Sacramento. "I dont really think about it so much at all," McDonald said. "No matter where I am, whether Im in England or Washington or San Jose, I really dont look at the crowd. I dont think about the crowd. I actually completely disconnect myself from everybody before the fight. Afterward Ill go out and Ill enjoy it, but I just do like I have something on my mind." The arena thats normally home to the NBAs Sacramento Kings will host the towns MMA royalty. Alpha Male coach Duane Ludwig will be busy with fighters in each of the cards last three bouts, but Faber believes his team can handle it. Alpha Males Chad Mendes takes on Nik Lentz in a 145-pound bout, and teammate Danny Castillo has the earliest fight against Edson Barboza. The main card on Fox also features crowd-pleasing lightweight Joe Lauzon against Mac Danzig. The scheduling already helped the Alpha Males with their training, since all four fighters ramped up their workouts on a similar timetable. "I think its all positive," Faber said. "Everybody is working toward the same goal, and the attention level is there. Everyone is understanding you have to take care of each others bodies, so youre not getting too beat up. Were basically a (family) anyway, but its nice to have that focus all at one time." Yoenis Cespedes Jersey . -- Charles-David Beaudoin and Jerome Verrier scored in the third period to lead the Drummondville Voltigeurs past the Victoriaville Tigres 3-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play Sunday. Zack Wheeler Jersey . Martin Biron stopped 23 shots for his first shutout in more than two years, improving to 3-0 in his fourth appearance of the season. The Rangers won their fourth straight despite another inefficient performance by the power play. http://www.metsbaseballshop.com/mookie-wilson-mets-jersey/ . "Last year didnt go the way we wanted it to, but we need to look at what went well and what didnt go so well. Hopefully this year we will be better," Brendan Gallagher said after practice. This year, the Canadiens have a little more depth to work with by adding players like Daniel Briere, Dale Weise, Mike Weaver, Douglas Murray and arguably, the biggest addition to this playoff roster, Thomas Vanek, who the Canadiens were able to land at the trade deadline.DALLAS - Mavericks guard Jose Calderon was barely two minutes into his post-shoot around assembly with the media before he was blindsided by the first of many hugs from his former cohorts. Mavs shoot around had just let out and the Raptors were slowly filing onto the court at American Airlines Center when DeMar DeRozan ran straight to the far baseline, surprising his former teammate with a hug. Amir Johnson was next, followed by Jonas Valanciunas and several other Raptors players until finally, he was greeted by his old coach and good friend Dwane Casey. "Its always going to be a little bit of a different game for me after all those years in Toronto," Calderon said with a big smile on his face, which of course is nothing new, ahead of Friday nights contest against his former team. "I still have a lot of friends on the other team." Listen to all the action live on TSN 1050 Radio in Toronto, beginning at 8:30pm et. Traded to the Pistons in the three-team deal that netted the Raptors Rudy Gay last January, Calderon had spent his first seven-plus NBA seasons in Toronto. He remains the franchise all-time leader in assists and free-throw percentage, ranking second in games played, fourth in minutes and fifth in points. At the time it seemed like an inevitable, albeit saddening breakup. Bryan Colangelo had just acquired Kyle Lowry to pair with and eventually replace Calderon, whose contract was expiring. The trade was hardly a surprise but its one the Raptors are regretting nearly 11 months later. Gays time in Toronto was short-lived for obvious financial and stylistic reasons while replacing Calderons quietly dependable production has proven to be a challenge, one the Raptors hope Greivis Vasquez may help solve. The Raptors recorded 20 or more assists in 22 of 23 games with Calderon starting prior to last years trade however, they accomplished that feat in just 21 of 56 contests with Gay in the lineup. A lot has changed in 11 months, as Calderon noticed when putting together a list of dinner guests on Thursday. "Yesterday, I was trying to put together a list of guys who could come for dinner," he said. "And it was like okay, there are not so many guys." The point guard, who ended up hosting Valanciunas and seven members of the Raptors staff at his new home on Thursday night, has played with only six current Raptors. Only two, DeRozan and Johnson, were teammates with Calderon for more than a couple months (they played with him for just over four seasons.) "That happens all the time," the nine-year vet said. "Thats how the NBA works, even more now with the new GM in Toronto andd all the new management. Dwight Gooden Mets Jersey. You knew changes were coming." For those who had the opportunity to play with him, to coach him, Calderon has been missed. "That was my point guard coming into the league," said DeRozan, in the midst of a career year. "And in the early stages of my career he really helped develop me into the player I am now. He helped me understand a lot and I commend a lot of my success to Jose." Inking a four-year deal with the Mavericks over the summer, Calderon and his family are getting comfortable in Dallas. In 24 games this season, the Mavs guard is averaging 11.9 points and 4.5 assists, making more threes per game (2.6) than he has before while shooting a career-best 47 per cent from long range. At 32 years of age, Calderon was the old man in Toronto, but in Dallas he fits right in. "I think its making my job a little bit easier playing with guys like Vince (Carter) or Shawn (Marion) or Dirk (Nowitzki)," he said. "They know how to play. For a point guard, being with guys who know to play all the time is easier, so I feel really comfortable out there with them for sure." As Mavs coach Rick Carlisle pointed out, its hard to believe how long Calderon has been in the league, especially for those that remember him as a raw, timid rookie out of Spain back with the Raptors in 2005. At that time Carlisle was coaching the Pacers and remembers the words of Lithuanian guard Sarunas Jasikevicius, who was familiar with Calderon having played against him overseas. "He came to me one day and said, that guy Calderon is a very resourceful player, hes better than you think he is," Carlisle recalled. "And he was right." "Joses had a really strong and solid career in the NBA," the Mavs coach continued. "Hell go down as one of the top European players ever." Both teams got their greetings and reminiscing over with early: Calderon with his old teammates, Carter with the Raptors media and staff and Casey with Carlisle, his former boss in Dallas. Once the ball is tossed up its all business for the Raptors, who are coming off a last-second overtime loss and are beginning a daunting four-game road trip. "Not [for] me," DeRozan said, asked if it will be difficult to face a player that has meant so much to him. "Not me personally, not at all. I understand that once we step on this court I could be playing against my mom and Im going to go out there and try to win." KANSAS CITY, Mo. Jordan Morris USA Jersey . - Hunter Pence most definitely found the right place.A day after saying he hadnt been sure until this year that the Royals played in Missouri rather than Kansas, Pence jolted Kauffman Stadium with a two-run, first-inning homer that quieted the crowd and sparked the San Francisco Giants to a 7-1 win in Tuesday nights World Series opener. It was really loud in my head, Pence said. Sometimes, my mind, when Im playing the game or our team is doing something good, its like an emptiness. I dont know whats going on around me.Pence had been 0 for 11 against James Shields before the homer. The right fielder who wears his socks extraordinarily high doubled and scored for a 4-0 lead in the fourth and also walked twice as the Giants won their seventh straight Series game dating to 2010.Youve got to work down, almost bouncing pitches at times, Kansas City manager Ned Yost said. But his strike zone is so big, its difficult.Pence started a meme on Aug. 1 when he tweeted a photo of himself in a New York coffee shop with the message, These pretzels are making me thirsty, a reference to a 1991 episode of the television sitcom Seinfeld.Fans started showing up at ballparks referencing Pences quirks with nonsensical signs. One of my favourites in Kansas City was, Hunter Pence Thinks Hes in Kansas, Pence explained on the eve of the opener. Once I read the sign, I said, I guess Im not in Kansas, so I have to be in Missouri. So I didnt know. The 31-year-old right fielder, acquired by the Giants from Philadelphia at the 2012 trade deadline, entertained at Mondays media day, looking a bit like a mid-1980s Bruce Springsteen with a bandanna around his hair. Hes been known to wear a LINCECOM KNOWS sign in honour of teammate Tim Lincecum, who dresses a couple of spots away in San Franciscos home clubhouse.A three-time All-Star, Pence is among the key emotional components in a clubhouse that could become the first NL team to win three championships in a five-year span since the 1942-46 St. Louis Cardinals. His leaping catch — tongue wagging, too — against the right-field wall of Jayson Werths sixth-inning drive helped the Giants in their clinching Game 4 win over Washington in the NL Division Series. He gathers his teammates in the clubhouse after wins for profanity-filled speeches or to offer congratulations for certain accomplishments, team and individual. Sometimes, manager Bruce Bochy doesnt need to say a word in team meetings, acknowledging Pence had the subject covered quite well. His energy, his enthusiasm, his passion for the game — hes tireless, Bochy said. Not a lot of guys can get themselves up every day the way he does. Hes a tireless worker, and Ive said this: Hes my lowest maintenance player Ive ever had. I just put his name in the lineup and leave him alone.Pence calls playing in San Francisco at always sold-out AT&T Park a magical atmosphere. Its just a group that I felt like I fit in, he said. There are a lot of accepting people of different personalities.Bumgarner said Pence holds most of the team meetings, not Bochy. He praised him profusely, saying its been an honour and a blessing to have him as a teammate.Sitting next to him, Pence leaned over to give a bromance hug and patted the pitcher on the head.I paid him to say that, he said before quickly adding: No, Im just kidding. That intense focus and always-on personality is part of Pence. Its kind of a blessing and a curse, he said. At home, I get people really angry with me, but on the field it works out good. Gyasi Zardes USA Jersey . The offensive drought ended with flurry, though, as Boston scored eight times in the fourth inning Saturday, including a grand slam by Carl Crawford, in a 12-7 win over the Texas Rangers. DeAndre Yedlin USA Jersey . This week, they discuss the American support of the World Cup, the passivity of NHL GMs, the clubhouse issues of Bryce Harper, and the career of the retired Alex Kovalev. http://www.soccerusashoponline.com/Claudio-Reyna-Copa-America-Jersey/ .twitter.com/xBTpoAKLJk — Daryl Zerr (@darylzerr) May 29, 2014 @BarDown I give to you the @SquirrelsNCHL aka the Fighting Squirels.WINNIPEG -- Maybe its third time lucky for linebacker Ejiro Kuale, who has bounced around a bit since he was released by the Toronto Argonauts after the 2012 season ended with their Grey Cup win. As the Winnipeg Blue Bombers opened their main training camp Sunday, Kuale is one of the newcomers brought in to bolster a sagging defence that ranked overall where the Bombers finished 2013, in the CFL cellar with a league high 585 points against. After brief stints in Montreal and Saskatchewan in 2013, Kuale is entering his fifth year in the CFL in Winnipeg, where the Bombers are now coached by former Toronto special teams co-ordinator Mike OShea. The two have a lot of good things to say about each other. "He understands what its like to be a player," says Kuale, who played special teams in Toronto when OShea was there. "He approaches the game differently from any of the coaches Ive ever been around." The Bombers are in need of a middle linebacker after star Canadian Henoc Muamba jumped to the NFL and Kuale, six-foot-two, 238 pounds, is certainly a contender. "Theres good competition at that middle linebacker spot but Kuale is, having coached him in Toronto, hes a different type of player," said OShea. "Hes very physical. Hes always in great shape and he can be a leader, that sort of emotional type of leader for guys. Hes come in and hes not let us down." For someone who will turn 31 in July, Kuale showed no ill effects Sunday from a four-and-a-half-hour practice in weather that wouldnt have been out of place in his hometown of Daytona Beach, Fla. "I feel great today although I should have brought my old cleats, my brand new cleats have my feet hurting a bit. . . I pulled a rookie move, Im a vet, I should know better." Veteran offensive lineman Glenn January liked what he saw at camp. The O-line is another place the Bombers are looking to add talent. "Everyboody thinks they look good May 31 or June 1 but I think were looking pretty good," said January, entering his eight season in the CFL and sixth with the Bombers. Ventura Alvarado Jersey. After disappointing fans with as 3-15 season in 2013, January wasnt getting too bold in his predictions. "They should be expecting a better season than last year." But he says the labour dispute between the league and players isnt getting in the way of business on the field. "Its Day 1, lets focus on football." OShea agreed, saying he sees no signs the players have anything but playing football on their minds The defence is coached this season by Gary Etcheverry, another favourite of OShea who is known for taking an unusual approach. "We have to forget everything weve learned about football and buy into what coach Etch is trying to teach us," says Kuale. Defensive back Johnny Sears says its going to be unique and the kind of defence opposing teams may have a hard time preparing to battle. "You cant get a bead on it, its different," he says. "I might not be playing the position you see me playing today... The scouting report says `This guy plays here. Next week when they see us, I might play there for the first snap, who knows the rest of the game... I think thats a good advantage for us." The first day of camp brought its share of injuries. Former Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith was sidelined with a hamstring pull when he jumped to make a catch early in practice. Canadian wide receiver Jordan Brescacin also had a hamstring injury. Canadian linebacker Jesse Briggs was favouring an arm but OShea said they didnt have a report on what might have happened. Offensive lineman Paul Swiston wasnt on the field and is still recovering from off-season surgery, said the coach. Defensive lineman Willie Moseley is expected to return in a couple of days from a muscle strain. LOS ANGELES -- Now that the Colorado Rockies are going with a four-man rotation, manager Jim Tracy has limited every starter to about 75 pitches. Matt Harvey Mets Jersey . That gives them added incentive to keep their pitch counts down. Alex White threw 80 pitches in four innings Tuesday night, allowing one hit and five walks before he was lifted for a pinch-hitter. Josh Roenicke took over and threw three scoreless innings, while rookie Josh Rutledge drove in all of Colorados runs in a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. "We know what weve got. Weve got 75 pitches, and our job is to get as far as we can," White said. "Thats what we did the last two nights. But thats the reason why weve got a good bullpen." It was the fifth straight game in which a Rockies starter didnt reach the fifth. In the series opener Monday night, Drew Pomeranz threw 84 pitches over four innings and was lifted with a two-run lead before Adam Ottavino and the bullpen closed out a 2-0 victory. "Its a little different, thats for sure," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Its a little bit more like a spring training game, because youre not getting the same type of look from the second guy that you got from the starter. But weve seen this White a couple of times, weve seen Roenicke, were seen Pomeranz and (Ottavino). So you can prepare. Theres plenty of video and preparation to be able to know what a guys throwing." Roenicke (4-0) has a 2.21 ERA in 45 appearances, compiling 43 strikeouts over 69 1-3 innings. "He continues to have a terrific season for us," Tracy said. "I think whats noteworthy is that hes done a much better job of pounding the strike zone. His stock just keeps improving." Rutledge had three doubles among his career-high four hits, one of which drove in two runs in the seventh after Shawn Tolleson relieved Dodgers starter Aaron Harang. The 23-year-old shortstop, getting a chance to play because of Troy Tulowitzkis groin injury, has 18 RBIs in 22 games since his promotion from Double-A Tulsa right after the All-Star break. His total includes home runs in four consecutive games last week. "He has played tremendously for us," Tracy said. "When this guy squares a ball up, I can tell you it makes a different sound. It gets off the bat in a hurry." The Dodgers scored in the eighth when Hanley Ramirez reached on a two-out infield single against Rex Brothers and came all the way home on James Loneys double against Matt Belisle. Rafael Betancourt, the fifth Colorado pitcher, worked a perfect ninth for his 19th save in 23 attempts. The Dodgers are 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position in the last two games against a pitching staff that entered the series with a major league-worst 5.51 ERA -- in addition to allowing the most runs, hits and homers in the majors. "Theyre playing well and theyre battling us," Harang said. "Ive been on teams like that where you have nothing to lose, so theyve been coming out hard. Theyre scraping runs together and their pitchings been holding us down." Harang (7-7) was charged with three runs and six hits in six-plus innings. The right-hander escaped bases-loaded jams in the first and fifth -- the latter on an inning-ending double play by rookie Jordan Pacheco. But that came three batters after Rutledge doubled home the first run of the game. The Dodgers had a scare in the second when Ramirez fouled a ball hard enough off his left foot that Mattingly and a trainer came out to check on him. Ramirez completed his at-bat after limping back to the plate and grounded a single through the left side of the infield -- hobbling all the way to first base. Los Angeles loaded the bases with one out in the third on three walks, including a two-out intentional pass to Andre Ethier, but Ramirez flied out. NOTES: The cap-slamming, profanity-laced rant that got Tracy ejected by umpire Mike Everitt on Monday has become an Internet sensation -- thanks mostly to Dodgers Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully, who did some priceless lip-reading in a blow-by-blow account of Tracys 5-plus minute tirade while substituting all the curse words with cleaner synonyms. "That was brought to my attention," said Tracy, who managed the Dodgers for five seasons and sat next to Scully on the team charter during road trips. "My wife told me: You might want to take a peek at that. He did a pretty good job, didnt he? But nothing surprises me with the way Vin does his duties -- nothing. He is one of the most beautiful people that Ive ever had the pleasure of being around. Hes so articulate and so well-spoken and such a gentleman." ... The Rockies had eight runners on base during Pachecos three at-bats, but none of them scored. ... White is 0-3 with three no-decisions and a 5.96 ERA since beating the Dodgers 3-2 on June 3 at Coors Field. He also walked five batters in that game. ... Harang is 0-3 with a 5.14 ERA in four starts this season when pitching on at least six days rest. Asdrubal Cabrera Grey Jersey . A flu bug couldnt stop him, and neither could the Bucks. Taking two in a row already seemed like a heady accomplishment. But three straight wins have the Sens wondering just how far the wave will take them. Clarke MacArthur scored the winning goal midway through the third period as the Senators beat the visiting Winnipeg Jets 4-3 on Thursday. Until Monday, when they beat the Washington Capitals 3-1, Ottawa hadnt even won back-to-back games in more than seven weeks. "I feel like finally getting that second (win) and finally getting momentum was huge for us," said Mika Zibanejad, who had a goal and an assist. "We need to keep playing well and finding a way to win, and not just one game. Weve been talking about it and talking about it and it wont change until we do it. Weve been working hard and maybe some games we should have won but I think it pays off now and we have to keep it going." Kyle Turris intercepted a clearing pass inside the Winnipeg zone and fed MacArthur, who then scored as he outwaited Winnipeg netminder Al Montoya before going top shelf to give the Senators a 4-2 lead. "It was nice to get rewarded at the end, but as far as the game goes, that was an important two points for us," MacArthur said. "Weve got something rolling now with three in a row and theyre not all going to be pretty but at this time of the year and where the standings are well take anything we can get. When its 4-2 you want to keep it there but you just cant write the script." Milan Michalek and Zack Smith also scored for the Senators (18-18-7), who have four wins in their past five games. Dustin Byfuglien, Evander Kane and Olli Jokinen scored for the Jets (19-19-5) while Montoya made 25 saves. Seconds after Smith gave the Senators a 3-2 lead on a deflection off a Marc Methot point shot at 6:42 of the third period, Craig Anderson maintained it with a glove save off Mark Scheifele who was alone in the slot to collect a rebound. Anderson can include that among his 32 saves in the game, but he would also be the first to give thanks to his goalposts who were there to bail him out three times, including once earlier in the third period when the game was still tied. "We didnt pressure, we didnt spend as much time as we wanted to in the other teams zone, but we had three posts that could have gone in. Custom New York Mets Jersey. Thats the way it goes sometimes," Kane said. After MacArthur gave the Senators a 4-2 lead, Jokinen made the home crowd nervous by pulling the Jets to within a goal with a little more than five minutes to play. "I thought in the first period we played sideways in our zone but I thought in the second we were much better and played with more speed," Jets coach Claude Noel said. "In the third we had good chances to win and I thought we played a fairly decent game although it wasnt one of our better ones." The Jets entered the third period tied 2-2 thanks in part to the fact that they had help on both their goals from their opposition. Kane tied the game in the second minute of the second period from behind the net after he banked a shot off the back of Anderson and in. Seconds earlier Anderson had made a save on streaking Jets defenceman Jacob Trouba but was unable to get back into position in time to prevent the goal. Byfuglien scored the Jets first goal and that one tied the game 1-1 at 15:37 of the first when his shot was redirected past Anderson by Senators defenceman Joe Corvo. Slightly more than two minutes before that goal, Zibanejad had opened the scoring when he picked up a rebound off a Corvo shot and beat Montoya. Conacher actually got to the loose puck before Zibanejad but was only able to push the puck forward slightly. Both Zibanejad and Conacher were in on the go-ahead goal by Michalek in the final minute of the first period. Conacher sent a pass to Zibanejad who took a shot from the right faceoff circle. Montoya made a pad save but the puck went right to Michalek in the slot and then to the back of the net. NOTES: Scratches for the Senators were defencemen Eric Gryba and Patrick Wiercioch along with forward Chris Neil. For the Jets, defenceman Adam Pardy and forward Eric ODell were the scratches. ... Anderson posted a 6-1-2 record in December with a 2.60 goals-against-average and a 9.21 save percentage. His 68 wins are four behind Ron Tugnutt for second all-time with the Senators. ... Ottawa captain Jason Spezza missed his third straight game with a lower-body injury. ... Heading into Thursdays game, Byfuglien led all NHL defencemen in shots on goal with 140. ... Eugenie Bouchard - a star is born - Martina Navratilovas tweet on Tuesday morning (@Martina) Yes, the endorsement of one of the legends of womens tennis must mean that Eugenie Bouchard has truly arrived. Cheap NFL Jerseys China . The 19-year-olds trajectory from junior champion to WTA regular to seeded Grand Slam player to Australian Open semifinalist has been nothing short of amazing. And in making her run to the final four of the first major event of the 2014 season, the native of Westmount, Quebec is practically writing history with each victory. "You cant teach that, youre born with it," added ESPN analyst and tennis great Chris Evert. "The way she held herself together, the way she played in the clutch, nothing fazed her and thats a gift she has." When it comes to womens singles, Canadas two best performances have both come at the U.S. Open - and both more than two decades ago. Patricia Hy-Boulais advanced to the quarterfinals in 1992, while Carling Bassett made it to the semifinals there in 1984. In fact, Bassett still has the record of holding Canadas highest-ever singles ranking. She was No. 8 in the world early in 1985 after making four Grand Slam quarterfinals in the two years prior. With Bouchards victory over Ana Ivanovic on Monday, the Canadian is projected to rise from No. 31 into the worlds Top 20 in the first rankings after the Australian Open. Milos Raonic, who peaked at No. 10 last year, is already the highest-ranked mens player in Canadian history. Bouchards rapid rise, coupled with that of Raonic and Vasek Pospisil on the mens side, marks a new era of Canadian singles tennis that has never been seen before. Which isnt to ignore the career success of Torontos Daniel Nestor. Long ranked No. 1 in the world in doubles until recently, Nestor has won eight Grand Slam titles (including the career Slam) and an Olympic gold medal. But the glamour of singles has always kept Nestors achievements a step removed from the mainstream. Bouchards advancement to the last four in Melbourne is stunning mostly for how fast it happened. One year ago, she was playing qualifying matches in Melbourne and did not make the main draw. The summer before that, she was still a junior and captured both singles and doubles titles at Wimbledon. She made her Grand Slam debut at the 2013 French Open and has now made a semifinal is just her fourth major appearance - and her very first at the Australian Open. Bouchards rapid rise has brought new interest to a sport that has until recently, offered Canadians few opportunities to root on homegrown players at the highest levels of the game. A star is born, indeed. Villa will be sidelined for up to five months, dealing Barcelona a major blow in its battle with Real Madrid for the Spanish league title and putting his place at Euro 2012 in serious jeopardy. Villa broke the tibia in his left leg when challenging for the ball during Barcelonas 4-0 win over Al Sadd in the Club World Cup semifinals, and the Spanish champions said he will be flown back to Barcelona for surgery. The injury means Villa will be unlikely to play again before the last few games of the season, and could weaken Spains chances of defending its European title in June. Spains all-time leading scorer was tangling with two defenders in the 37th minute when he landed awkwardly. He immediately fell to the ground and called for help, before being carried off the pitch on a stretcher. Spain coach Vicente del Bosque was devastated by news of the injury to the man who was the teams top scorer with five goals during its 2010 World Cup triumph. While the 30-year-old forward is no longer a certain starter for Barcelona, he remains an integral part of the national lineup and would have been guaranteed a place in the Euro 2012 side in Poland and Ukraine. "The news is very bad," Del Bosque was quoted as saying by Spanish news agency Europa Press. "Its a greeat misfortune, for him above all since he is the injured one, and looking ahead to (Euro 2012), of course this is very bad news. Cheap NHL Jerseys. "There are six months to go. Lets see if he can get well. Recovering always has its set processes, but there are some players that get healthy sooner than others." After a 4-0 win over Al Sadd, Barcelona will play South American champion Santos in the Club World Cup final with the chance to lift its 13th trophy under Guardiola. Villa scored 23 goals last season, his first with Barcelona. The 30-year-old Villa has seen his playing time diminish this season with the arrival of Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez, but he has still scored nine goals in all competitions. "Missing him in the team is going to be a blow," Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said. "I understand it is going to be a long time. We all love David. His personality is great. We all worry about him." The downbeat mood was shared by Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes. "This is very bad news on what was supposed to be a happy day moving on to a historic final," Valdes said, adding that the team would dedicate the title to Villa if they win. The possible loss of Villa would leave Spain coach Vicente del Bosque with out-of-form Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, Athletic Bilbaos Fernando Llorente and Sevillas Alvaro Negredo competing for places up front. In-form Valencia scorer Roberto Soldado would be Villas likely replacement if he doesnt recover in time. NASHVILLE -- Predators goalie Pekka Rinnes recovery from a hip infection will be at least two weeks slower with doctors recommending Rinne continue limiting his activity. Charlie Blackmon Jersey . The Predators had hoped Rinne could pick up his rehabilitation Friday. In a statement posted on the teams website, the Predators said Rinne has not had a setback. "However, as we have realized and learned throughout this process, the recovery and rehabilitation from a bacterial infection does not involve a specific timetable," according to the teams statement. "It does come with a degree of uncertainty." The Predators say every precaution is being taken to manage the bacterial infection with the goal of getting Rinne back to full strength. Rinne is being monitored daily by the teams medical staff. The two-time Vezina Trophy finalist has been sidelined since he had arthroscopic surgery on his left hip Oct. 24 as a result of a bacterial infection. The infection developed in the same hip that was surgically repaired May 9 following the conclusion of last season. Since the surgery, Rinne has been taking antibiotics through intravenous fluids. WASHINGTON -- Right-handed starter Jordan Zimmermanns $24 million, two-year contract and shortstop Ian Desmonds $17. Todd Helton Jersey .5 million, two-year deal were among a half-dozen agreements reached by the Washington Nationals on Friday to avoid arbitration. Zimmermann and Desmond are two homegrown cornerstones of the Nationals, who essentially bought out both players last two arbitration years. And both deals are worth much more in the second season: Zimmermann will make $7.5 million in 2014, then $16.5 million in 2015; Desmond gets $6.5 million in 2014, then $11 million in 2015. Other players agreeing to contracts with the Nationals, all for just 2014, included former closer Drew Storen, catcher Wilson Ramos and lefties Jerry Blevins and Ross Detwiler. Storen got a base salary of $3.45 million, with a chance to earn $1 million in performance bonuses based on the number of games he finishes. Ramos deal is worth $2.095 million, Blevins is worth $1.675 million, and Detwilers is worth $3 million. Two other Nationals players submitted salary arbitration figures: right-handed starter Doug Fister, who was acquired from the Detroit Tigers in a trade this off-season, and right-handed reliever Tyler Clippard. Fister, who made $4,075,000 while going 14-9 with a 3.67 ERA over 208 2-3 innings last season, asked that his salary more than double to $8.5 million, while the Nationals offered $5.75 million. Clippard asked for a raise to $6.35 million from $4 million; the team offered $4.45 million. Clippard was 6-3 with a 2.41 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 71 innings in 2013. Zimmermann went 19-9 with a 3.25 ERA over 213 1-3 innings last season for the Nationals, who went 86-76 and finished second in the NL East, failing to reach the playoffs. Desmond hit .280 with 20 homers and 80 RBIs in 2013, along with a career-best .971 fielding percentage. He was an NL All-Star in 2012, when he hit 25 homers and helped Washington win its division. Ramos hit .272 with 16 homers in only 287 at-bats, missing time because of leg injuries. Storen was 4-2 with three saves and a 4.52 ERA in 61 2-3 innings in 2013, when he also was sent to Triple-A Syracuse in July for a brief stint in the minors. He had 43 saves in 2011, missed the first part of 2012 because of right elbow surgery, then switched to a setup role last season after Washington signed Rafael Soriano. Detwiler was 2-7 with a 4.04 ERA in 2013, splitting time between the rotation and bullpen. Washington got Blevins from the Oakland Athletics in a trade last month. He was 5-0 with a 3.15 ERA in a career-high 67 games in 2013. Its the first-place Blue Jays against the team closest to them in the American League East. Toronto enters the series with a four-and-a-half game lead on the Yankees. Its another chance, the second of what will be as many as six, to wave goodbye to New Yorks future Hall of Fame shortstop, Derek Jeter. Here in New York, the dulcet voice of the late, great public address announcer, Bob Sheppard, brings No. 2 to the plate. Jose Reyes is back in New York, too. He made his name over in Queens playing for the Mets. R.A. Dickey is here but wont pitch. He won the Cy Young award two seasons ago on the other side of the city. Oh, and dont forget about the Blue Jays rookies mound opponent on this Tuesday: a rookie himself, technically, the Japanese phenom Masahiro Tanaka, whos dominated the early days of his major league career like he dominated for years back home. Then there is Marcus Stroman. Its strange that this, essentially a homecoming for a young man raised in the Long Island town of Medford, is somewhat lost in the shuffle. Hes the 23-year-old who stunned general manager Alex Anthopoulos, blowing his bubble gum in the middle of his windup. The kid seems born for the spotlight, even if it will shine more brightly on others. "Im usually pretty good with dealing with things like that," Stroman said on Sunday. "I dont let anything get to me or get me overly excited or kind of get me out of my game. Im fine. Im in a good place mentally. I feel good going into it. I have kind of an off-day just to hang out with friends in the city and then it will be Game on Tuesday." Medford is a sleepy town, according to Stroman, more than an hour from New York City. Its closer to the upscale Hamptons, a drive of about 45 minutes. Medford has one high school, Patchoggue-Medford High School, which Stroman attended before moving on to college at Duke University. Nolan Arenado Jersey. The town will awaken this evening. Many of its inhabitants, in fact, will venture to Yankee Stadium to watch the hometown boy pitch. Stroman has purchased up to 70 tickets for close family and friends. He said hes been told by another 50 or 60 people theyve bought ducats. Hell have a throng of about 130 people here rooting him on. "Anytime you have an opportunity to pitch in front of a bunch of family and friends, its exciting," said Stroman. "I should have a lot of – a bunch of people texting me, bunch of friends from high school, college, a lot of people reaching out to me saying theyre going to be at the game so thats always exciting to pitch in front of people whove been there along the way." Stroman is 3-1 in his first year in the big leagues, 2-1 as a starter. Hes gone six innings in each of his first three starts, losing his last outing against the Twins. In two of those appearances, including the Minnesota defeat, he didnt walk a batter. He has impressed with his fastball. His breaking stuff, particularly his curveball, has baffled opposing hitters. Hes developing his changeup. Hes not developing confidence. He already has it. His coaches brag about it. "I certainly dont see him as a guy whos going to nibble and pitch around guys," said pitching coach Pete Walker. "Hes definitely on the attack. His walks have been down and I would like to think that thats going to continue with him. He certainly trusts his stuff. Theres no doubt about that." Growing up, Stroman went to Yankees games at the old stadium and saw the Mets at Shea. He didnt cheer for either team. He admired players. Like most native New Yorkers, he watched Jeter in awe. On Tuesday night, hell pitch to Jeter. He doesnt know what to expect. "I cant even tell you," said Stroman. "Im sure itll settle in once Im kind of on the mound but Im pretty sure it will be surreal." After going 128-127-1 in the regular season, TSNs Chris Schultz is back with his playoff picks for Wild Card Weekend. Cheap Nike Air Max Ireland . Arizona at Carolina (-4.5) Both teams are limping into the playoffs in different ways. For Carolina, they finished the season with a record of 7-8-1, winning the division but they are not a winning team by any means. With Arizona, they have won two of the last six games after starting 9-1. The best aspect of football for the Cardinals is their ability to pressure quarterbacks on any and every 3rd down opportunity. They have a very complex blitz package and execute it extremely well. For Carolina, it is about Cam Newton and his ability to move and make things happen. Arizona has had trouble with mobile quarterbacks as Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick combined to run for 278 yards. In the playoffs, it does get back to those who handle the ball the most: Newton over Lindley. Panthers Baltimore at Pittsburgh (-3) A lot will depend on the heath and anticipated playing ability of LeVeon Bell. If he is even close to 100 per cent, his running ability gives the Steelers a big advantage. Also, Antonio Brown had 129 receptions, second most in NFL history and the Ravens are 24th in pass defence. Both teams dominated at home with the Ravens winning 26-6 in Week 2 and the Steelers winning 43-23 in Week 9. But going into the playoffs, Pittsburgh has won their last four games while Baltimore lost in Houston and should have dominated Cleveland but didnt. Steelers Cincinnati at Indianapolis (-3.5) Both teams have had good seasons with double-digit wins. The strength of Cincinnati is the combination of Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard. One is power, one is speed and if they are both productive, the Bengals are tough to stop. The strength of the Colts revolves around Andrew Luck. With 40 touchdown passes, he has no fear of extending plays on his own. Back in Week 7, Indianapolis beat Cincinnati, 27-0 and the score flattered the Bengals. It wont be 27-0 again but... Colts Detroit at Dallas (-7) Sometimes football is a very simple game. If Detroit overloads the line of scrimmage to contain and limit DeMarco Murray, they are taking a risk and the risk is Dez Bryant. There are few players, if any, that can contain or limit his inevitable success in 1-on-1. Can Dallas be beaten right in AT&T stadium? Yes, they can. Every now and then, they give up the big play at the wrong time. But of the eight teams in this years wild card playoff round, the Cowboys are playing their best football right now. Cowboys Air Max 2016 Black . Lin averaged 27.3 points and 8.3 assists while leading the Knicks to a 4-0 record. The undrafted Harvard graduates 109 points are the most by an NBA player in his first four starts since the 1976-77 season, and he became the first player in NBA history to tally at least 20 points and seven assists in each of his first four starts. Kuemper made 21 saves to earn his second career shutout as Minnesota returned from the Olympic break on a winning note, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 on Thursday night. "We did a real good job, we were aware of the situation and everyone was focused tonight," Kuemper said. "It was just a solid team game tonight. We had seven days of practice. You just use the first two practices to get the fundamentals back and then you worry about the next game. I stuck to my game and obviously the team played great in front of me." Mikael Granlund, Stephane Veilleux and Dany Heatley scored for the Wild (32-21-7) who won their third game in a row. "I think thats our biggest strength, to have a good defensive game," Granlund said. "I thought we played good defensively and Kemps had a good game in net. We didnt give them too much." Wild head coach Mike Yeo said his team played far from perfect, but they will take the win anyway. "I dont think that we played this game at the level that we headed into the break at and I think thats normal," he said. "I was impressed with the detail and the structure in a lot of areas, but I think our puck work can get a little better in some areas too." The Oilers (20-34-7) have lost two in a row after winning five of their previous six. "It was pretty embarrassing," said Edmonton forward David Perron. "Nothing was going right for us. We couldnt generate any offence and our defence wasnt good. It was an awful game." It was the fifth time this season that the Oilers have been shutout at home and eighth time this season they have failed to score in a game. "Thats not how we wanted to come back from the break at all. It seemed like there was a lot of rust on our team," said Oilers forward Taylor Hall. "Whether that was the break or whatever, it doesnt really matter. They had the same break that we did and we just didnt play well." Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins thought neither team really looked that good on their return to action following the long break. "That was an ugly hockey game, I thought for both teams," he said. "It was quite amazing watching this game the number of players falling down with nothing going on around them and passes going behind players. It was firmly two teamss coming off of a long break. Air Max 90 Ultra Essential. ." The game started with a bang as Oilers forward Matt Hendricks checked Wild defenceman Nate Prosser in to the boards in the first minute of play. Prosser was helped to the dressing room and did not return until the second period. Minnesota got revenge for the hit by taking a 1-0 lead a minute later as Oilers goalie Ben Scrivens was caught out of position as Zach Parise fed the puck in front to Granlund who had an empty net to put his teams first shot of the game into. Each team only accounted for six first period shots apiece, with Edmontons best chance coming late in the period when a high bounce flipped off of Kuempers back and landed in the crease before being sent to safety by Jared Spurgeon. Kuemper made a big save of his own seven minutes into the second as he was quick to come across and rob Jordan Eberle at the side of the net on the tail end of an Oiler power play. Minnesota made it 2-0 midway through the second period as Erik Huala fought off Oiler Anton Belov behind the net to send a backhand to a primed and ready Veilleux who blasted a one-timer from the top of the circle past Scrivens for just his second goal of the season. The Wild took a three-goal lead midway through the third as Charlie Coyle made a nice play to swing out from behind the net and find Heatley in front, who lifted his 12th of the season over a sprawling Scrivens. Notes: Both teams saw some success before the pause in the NHL schedule as the Oilers were 5-1-1 in their previous seven games, while the Wild were 4-1-2 in their last seven. Edmonton only allowed 12 goals during that seven-game stretcha The Wild have had a great deal of success against Edmonton in recent years, coming into the game having won five of six and 14 of its last 17 versus the Oilers, including seven of their last eight appearances in Edmontona Minnesota forward Mikko Koivu is reportedly close to returning but remained out with an ankle injury for Thursdays gamea Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom returned from an abdominal injury dating back to Jan. 30, but served as the backup to Kuempera It was Edmontons only home game in all of February. The Oilers last home date was on Jan. 29 when Scrivens set an NHL record for most saves in a shutout with 59 in a 3-0 victory over the San Jose Sharksa Oiler forward Nail Yakupov took a shot to the right ankle from teammate Justin Schultz in the third and did not return. MINNEAPOLIS -- It was a tense tied game late in the fourth quarter, one these nervous fans were used to seeing their Minnesota Timberwolves let slip away. Ricky Rubio then splashed a 20-foot jumper through the net for a lead, and the rookie point guard raised his arms, urging them out of their seats and trying to reassure them that times are changing around here. Its certainly starting to look that way. Rubio scored nine of his 18 points in the fourth quarter and dished out 10 assists to lift the Timberwolves to an 87-79 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. Kevin Love had 18 points and 16 rebounds and Nikola Pekovic added 14 points and 10 boards for the Wolves, who have beaten the Spurs two straight times in the same season for the first time since 2000. "We werent playing to win the game (last year)," Love said of a team that won just 17 times and faltered down the stretch on countless occasions. "This year, were playing to win the game. Were confident. Real confident." Tony Parker scored 20 points and Tiago Splitter continued his strong play off the bench for the Spurs, scoring 12 points and grabbing seven rebounds. But the Spurs scored only one field goal over the final seven minutes against a suddenly stingy Wolves defence. They also had only two offensive rebounds, which was a franchise record for a Timberwolves opponent. Derrick Williams scored 12 points for the Wolves, who held the third-leading scoring team in the league 20.5 points under its average and outrebounded the Spurs 46-34 to improve to 9-10. "Its a terrific win for our guys, especially against a veteran team like that that wins those games all the time," coach Rick Adelman said. "Hopefully its really a step forward for us. The Wolves led 73-67 with less than nine minutes to play, but Parker kept the Spurs in the game by relentlessly attacking the rim. He scored on a driving layup, hit a pull-up jumper and then converted a three-point play on another explosion to the basket to bring the Spurs within 1 in a two-minute flurry. Splitter then fed Gary Neal for a 3-pointer and a 79-77 Spurs lead. Rubio responded with two free throws and a jumper, then fed Love for a layup that gave Minnesota an 83-79 lead with 1:45 to play. The Spanish rookie raised his arms to cajole the crowd, who stood and cheered "Rubio! Rubio!" Rubio had been mired in a terrible shooting slump over the last six games, hitting just 23 per cent of his shots. He played more than 46 minutes in Minnesotas surprising win at Dallas on Wednesday night, then followed that by hitting seven of 12 shots in 42 minutes against the Spurs. "Even though I didnt (shoot well) the last six games, I knew that I can do it because I work hard," Rubio said. "My confidence is high. Sometimes your shots going to miss a lot, but you have to keep shooting because if not, thats going to affect you." The Spurs are 10-1 at home this season, but they entered the Target Center just 2-6 on the road, including a 106-96 loss here on Jan. 2 in which San Antonio allowed the Wolves to shoot almost 58 per cent for the game. That follows the pattern theyve set all season, where they have allowed 104.4 points per game on the road versus just 89.5 at home. "If were on the road and we hold somebody to 87 points, I think we have a good chance," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "I felt good about that. But like many NBA games, the last four or five minutes, whoever scores wins." The Spurs were much better defensively in the early going on Friday night, forcing three turnovers on Minnesotas first three possessions and harassing Love into a 2-for-9 start. But the Wolves turned the ball over just two times in the second half, Tim Duncan was 2 for 12 from the field and the Spurs offence ran out of gas. The Wolves got Michael Beasley back from an 11-game absence because of a sprained right foot and Martell Webster played for the first time all season after having back surgery in September. Beasley had seven points on 3-for-11 shooting. Love was playing his first game at home since signing a four-year extension worth more than $60 million. The deal allows Love to opt out after three years, which has the fans a little nervous. But they gave him a loud ovation upon introduction and hope that the Timberwolves continue their upward climb in the standings to keep him in Minnesota for years to come. "This city is ready to explode," Love said. "You can feel it." Notes: Matt Bonner scored 13 points for the Spurs. ... Adelman joked that he has banned J.J. Barea from wearing his enormous Dallas Mavericks championship ring. "I dont want him to pull the other hamstring," Adelman said. ... Wolves C Darko Milicic missed the game because of illness. PHILADELPHIA -- Strong defence makes St. Johns a tough opponent, even if the Red Storm dont get a win to show for it. Darrun Hilliard scored 18 points, Ryan Arcidiacono had 12 and No. 9 Villanova beat St. Johns 57-54 on Saturday. It was the second straight win for Villanova (24-3, 12-2 Big East) since its second loss of the season to No. 11 Creighton. "That was old-school, Big East basketball," Villanova coach Jay Wright said. "Ugly. Great defence. Physical. You had to be physically and mentally tough to play that game. It was the Big East. Im glad to see our conference at that level. It was just the kind of game in the 80s when I was an assistant here." DAngelo Harrison had 15 points for St. Johns (18-10, 8-7), Rysheed Jordan scored 13 and JaKarr Sampson had 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Red Storms six-game winning streak ended. "It was a Big East battle right to the end," Red Storm coach Steve Lavin said. "We punched and counter-punched right until the end in a hostile environment." Though moral victories dont show up in the standings, games like this increase St. Johns NCAA tournament chances. "If you know basketball, our team is coming together," Lavin said. "Now its up to us how we play the last two weeks." Wright thinks the Red Storm should get an invitation to the field of 68. "I think we can get five teams in on a year when our conference is down," Wright said. "Rivalries are getting interesting. Im getting excited about this league." Arcidiacono banked a three-pointer from the top of the circle to give Villanova a 53-50 lead with 3:43 left. After the Red Storm missed a shot, JayVaughn Pinkston grabbed two key offensive rebounds for the Wildcats and Hilliard made a free throw. St. Johns went 3:36 without a point before Sampsons free throw with 1:14 remainingg.dddddddddddd Arcidiacono then threw away the inbound pass following a timeout, and Harrison made a driving layup to cut it to 54-53. Daniel Ochefu made one of two free throws to give Villanova a two-point lead with 34 seconds left. With a chance to tie or give the Red Storm a lead, Phil Greene IV was called for travelling with 14 seconds to go. Arcidiaconos free throw made it 56-53. But the Red Storm couldnt get a three-point shot off and Harrison was fouled going for a layup with 1.5 seconds left. He made the first free throw and purposely missed the second, but a lane violation gave the ball to Villanova. "We were trying to get a three, but just couldnt do it," Harrison said. Josh Hart made one free throw and the Red Storm missed a desperation three-point shot at the buzzer. "Its frustrating," Sampson said. "We knew it was a big game. We just have to look forward to the next one." St. Johns came in allowing the second-fewest points in the nation (68.0). They also had the top field goal percentage defence and three-point percentage defence. It showed as the Red Storm forced 15 turnovers and held the Wildcats 23 points below their average (80.7). The Wildcats tied for the fewest points they have scored in a win this season. James Bell hit a three-pointer to give Villanova its biggest lead, 44-38, in the second half. But the Red Storm answered with a 9-3 run capped by SirDominic Pointers driving layup that tied it at 47. After both teams traded misses and turnovers for two minutes, Bell drained another three for a 50-47 with 5:52 left. Villanova, which beat St. Johns 74-67 at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 11, jumped to an 8-0 lead behind two threes by Hilliard. The Red Storm scored the next nine points and the teams played a tight, defensive first half that ended with Villanova leading 28-27. For the second straight year, DeRozan has shaken off a wretched start to an NBA season and begun playing like everyone expected him to when the season kicked off at the end of December. Hes averaging 18.6 ppg since the start of February, hes getting to the line nearly six times per game (still not enough, but a vast improvement over his early season output) and hes pulled his shooting percentage up to .452 in that span. Its still not quite at the level that he played most of last season at, but at least it shows that last year wasnt a total fluke like many were fearing it might have been. A lot of his improvement has come from the fact that hes managing to get more shots off around the rim, which is partially due to his not getting stripped on drives nearly as often, and the fact that hes started to work harder to get to his sweet spots on the floor rather than floating around and taking whatever shots presented themselves. His repeated efforts to post-up Kevin Martin against Houston on Wednesday also showed an actual offensive move (the turnaround jumper à la Paul Pierce and Kobe Bryant) that he could go to in order to help establish his offensive rhythm. Little steps like that can eventually lead to a more mature NBA player. Hes also starting to get a better feel for the teams offence outside of his own shots. In his last 10 games, hes averaged 2.3 assists per game whereas in January he averaged only 1.3. While no one will confuse him with LeBron James with his passing, considering the tunnel vision he played with until recently, its a positive sign for both DeRozan and the Raptors, especially if they want to make him their primary perimeter scorer. Despite the uptick in production, though, DeRozan still does not appear ideally cast for that primary perimeter scorer role. According to Hoopdata, DeRozan ranks 66th amongst swingmen in True Shooting Percentage, a stat that factors in three-point shooting and free throw shooting. That puts DeRozan behind Michael Beasley, Nick Young and Monta Ellis - none of whom are known for their offensive efficiency. The fact that he still cannot hit threes with any consistency (he still sits below 30% in that area) is a problem in a league that is increasingly prioritizing floor spacing, he still cannot create offence with his dribble and he remains the sort of player whos in no way productive if hes not scoring. Thats because that DeRozan cant really do anything if he isnt scoring. Hes ranked 42nd amongst shooting guards in rebound rate, behind Daniel Gibson, Roddy Beaubois and - gulp - Michael Redd. Hes ranked 67th amongst shooting guards in assist ratio, four back of teammate Leandro Barbosa, he of some of the sstickiest hands in the NBA. Nolan Arenado Jersey. According to 82games.com, the Raptors allow 4.3 fewer points per 100 possessions when DeRozan is on the bench, although because of his scoring, the team actually nets out positive by having him on the court. Basically, DeRozan remains a one-dimensional player and hes only solid in that dimension, not nearly good enough justify his lack of impact in virtually every other area. However, if DeRozan truly has found his game in Dwane Caseys system, I dont know that much of the above is all that worrisome right now. It paints a rather foreboding picture, but it shouldnt. This Raptors roster is something of a mishmash assemblage designed to get the team through the season before their big talent-grab in the summer where Jonas Valanciunas, their 2012 rookie selection and any free agents signings will join the club. Right now, they are fairly talent starved, which makes things harder for the younger players searching for their NBA sea legs. Casey himself has lamented the lack of dependable basketball I.Q. in his locker room (a result mostly of youth, not dumb players), and if the team can balance out their roster with some veteran pieces that simply fit together better than todays team, it could make DeRozan look a lot better than he does today. Of course, the onus still falls on DeRozan to improve this summer. He has to get better in other areas to justify the team making roster considerations to accommodate his game. He has to become a more active rebounder and he has to be able to make teams pay by making the smart, easy pass. If the Raptors inject more offensive firepower into this club in the summer (which they have to do), then DeRozan needs to find ways to impact games when hes not the guy taking shots for the team. Either that or he needs to get his offensive game to Kevin Martin levels of efficiency by living at the free throw line and lighting it up from long range. Whatever he does, he cannot report to camp next season and take another two months to get back to the place he left off this season. He has to be an improved player from day one because the team is going to start prioritizing wins big time next season and if he isnt contributing to them, then he wont be finding himself on the court for 35 minutes per game. For now, lets wait and see how DeRozan finishes off the season. Lets see how he blends with Andrea Bargnani back on the court. Lets see what kind of players the Raptors surround him with this summer. His comfort level on the court of late has been a world apart from where it was back in January and he and Casey look to have found a methodology to maximize DeRozans effectiveness when hes playing. Thats a major turnaround from earlier in the season. Its still impossible to gauge exactly what Toronto has in DeRozan but suffice it to say that whatever they do have looks a lot better today than it did only a few weeks ago. ATLANTA -- Jeff Teague and the Atlanta Hawks had been in this situation a couple of times already this season. Nike Juvenate Gris . So when the Orlando Magic erased Atlantas 17-point lead in the third quarter, Teague wanted to be a calming influence. "Were still learning every day," he said. "I was glad to see us bounce back, get the lead back up and make plays at the end. Hard work is paying off." Teague had 19 points and 13 assists, Paul Millsap scored 18 points with 11 rebounds and the Hawks beat Orlando 104-94 on Saturday night. Arron Afflalo finished with 21 points for the Magic, who have dropped 15 straight on the road dating to last March 4. Mike Scott had 17 points in a reserve role and Al Horford scored 15 and Kyle Korver added 14 for Atlanta. Korver made a 3 in his 79th consecutive game to surpass Dennis Scott and tie Michael Adams for second place on the NBA career list. After Korver hit a 3 on a fast break late in the fourth, Teagues fastbreak layup made it 97-88 with 1:41 remaining. The Hawks have won nine straight over the Magic at Philips Arena. Jameer Nelson and Andrew Nicholson each finished with 13 points for Orlando. Atlanta took the games first double-digit lead at 57-47 on Millsaps jumper with 9:30 left in the third. DeMarre Carroll followed with a 3 and Millsap hit a layup for a 15-point lead that caused Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn to call a timeout. "Guys were just getting in position where they were open," Teague said. "I was hitting them, and they were making shots. Paul and Kyle had their pick and pop all night, and they were making them. When I was getting in the lane, I was doing my best to draw defenders and kick it to them." Carrolls reverse dunk a couple of minutes later put the Hawks ahead by 17 for the games biggest lead, but the Magic went on a 23-7 run that ended with Andrew Nicholsons hook shot in the final minute of the third and gave Orlando a 71-70 lead. The Magic, who dropped to 0-3 on the road this season, got back in contention defensively by shutting down the passing lanes and forcing Atlanta to wind down the shot clock on multiple possessions late in the third and early in the fourth. "We fought our way back into the game," Vaughn said. "That unit that was on the floor gave us a lot of energy on the second night of a back-to-back and got us back into the game, take the lead. Great resolve by that group over there -- the Hawks -- making shots." ETwaun Moore and Afflalo hit consecutive 3s midway through the final period to cut the lead to 79-77, and Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer called a timeout. Afflalo 3s put the Magic up 88-87 with 3:50 remaining, but they didnt lead again. "Theres just no room for error at that point," Afflalo said. "We just couldnt close the game off tonight." Teague, secure in his role after Atlanta re-signed him to a multiyear contract last summer, is showing the kind of leadership that Budenholzer wants from his point guard. "I think hes really starting to understand what were saying," Budenholzer said after his team improved to 3-3. "I think for the last week to 10 days that hes had a lot of opportunities and a lot of responsibility for the way we play. Hes doing a lot of good things. I think hes going to get better and better. The Wimbledon champion was overwhelmed by the 46th-ranked Santiago Giraldo 6-3, 6-2. Murrays play was erratic throughout the match against the Colombian qualifier, who earned his first career victory against a top-10 player in 20 attempts. The eighth-ranked Murray mentioned his split from coach Ivan Lendl alongside his "inconsistent" play. "My coach is missing. Thats quite a big part of my team," Murray said. "I didnt envision a finish like that. I need to sit down and think about that the next couple of days and see what I need to do." Defending champions Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams had little trouble reaching the quarterfinals at the clay-court tournament, both winning in straight sets. Nadal hadnt lost a quarterfinal on clay in nine years until last month in Monte Carlo, and he repeated the disappointing feat in Barcelona. On Thursday, Nadal let a 3-1 lead in the second set slip before beating Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 6-1, 6-4. "For one hour probably I was playing the best tennis that I played for the last three weeks," Nadal said. "After that I committed errors, so what I need to do is find more consistency." Nadal will next face sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych, who beat Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. Berdych hasnt beaten Nadal since a 2006 meeting in Madrid, which was marked by jeering and angry exchanges between the players. "Hell be a big test for me," Nadal said. "What happened is in the past. " Also, Japanese player Kei Nishikori improved to 8-0 on clay this season with a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) win over Milos Raonic of Canada. Nishikori next faces local favourite Feliciano Lopez who advanced when Austrian qualifier Dominic Thiem withdrew before the match due to an unspecified illness. Thiem upset Stanislas Wawrinka in the second round. Fifth-ranked David Ferrer contained John Isners big serve -- holding the American to just six aces -- and used a break in each set to win 6-4, 6-4. Williams earned her 650th career victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Carla Suarez Navarro. Williams, in pursuit of her 60th title, hit 27 winners to her Spanish opponents five. "She made me work for every point and it wasnt an easy win," the top-ranked American said. "She just won last week, so she is definitely not an easy player to play." Williams will next face 2011 champion Petra Kvitova. The fifth-seeded Czech beat Lucie Safarova 6-4, 6-3. Also, Australian Open champion Li Na and Maria Sharapova will meet in the quarterfinals after both won their third round matches. After a poor opening set, the second-ranked Li overcame a slew of unforced errors and a bothersome toe problem to beat Sloane Stephens of the United States 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. "After the first set I was like, Calm down," Li said. "I say, OK, I cannot only think about what happened for the game, you have to look forward otherwise you cannot make it." Sharapova beat Samantha Stosur of Australia 6-4, 6-3, while Ana Ivanovic cruised into the last eight with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. GLASGOW -- The Commonwealth Games didnt begin as planned for Ellie Black and the rest of Canadas gymnastics team. Adidas Superstar 2 Womens Trainers . For her, Fridays gold-medal performance in the beam event was validation. "Yes, I wanted to come out and stay on the beam and try to do it the best I could. So to stay on the beam, and then with that support at the end, it was just great," Black said. A day after she fell off the balance beam in the individual all-around competition, the 18-year-old from Halifax rebounded by capturing gold on the event Friday. She then added a bronze in the floor event. Scott Morgan of North Vancouver, B.C., won the mens vault for his fourth medal of the Games. Kevin Lytwyn of Stoney Creek, Ont., won his third medal of the games, taking bronze in mens horizontal bar. Canadas artistic gymnasts finished with nine medals -- three of each colour -- to finish behind only England. Still, they had hoped for better. Patricia Bezzoubenko had dominated the rhythmic gymnastics a week earlier, claiming five of the six gold medals and leading Canada to victory in the team event, to set the stage for the artistic gymnasts. "Definitely seeing the rhythmic girls do amazing before we started, that definitely boosted us and go us really excited to come out here," Black said. But the women finished fourth in the team event, and Black was fourth in the individual all-around. "It would have been nice to do better at the beginning," Black said. "The team had a bit of a rough go, and in the individual all-around I had a rough go. I had to build up and work towards the event finals and show what I could do." Black, who won silver Thursday on the vault to send her home with a medal of each colour, thoroughly crushed her competition on the beam on Friday. The five-foot-one gymnast, whos the two-time defending Canadian all-around champion and led Canada to fifth place in the team event at the London Olympics, was the last of eight competitors to go, scoring 14.900 points for the victory in front of a noisy crowd at the SSE Hydro. Mary Anne Monckton of Australia finished a full point back, winning the silver with 13.666, while Georgina Hockenhull of Wales was third with 13.466. Black scored 13.666 on the floor, but had points deducted for stepping out of bounds. Claudia Fragapane won the gold with 14.541, while Australias Lauren Mitchell was second with 13.833. Morgan won the mens vault with a score of 14.733 points for his fourth medal -- two gold, a silver, and a bronze in the team event -- of the Games. Kristian Thomas of England won the silver with 14.499. Singapores Wah Toon Hoe was the bronze medallist with 14.195. Lytwyn of Stoney Creek, Ont., scored 14.866 for third on the horizontal bar. Nile Wilson scored 14.966 to lead England to a 1-2 finish with teammate Thomas taking the silver. Lytwyn had finished second to Morgan in the rings event on Thursday and was part of the team that won bronze. Canadian coach David Kikuchi said gymnastics hadnt set medal goals for the Games, it was more about getting experience before the world championships in October. "This was a really young team besides Ellie and this was the first time any of them had ever been in any Games atmosphere so it was an important experience that way," Kikuchi said. "Also leading toward the world championships, its the main focus of the year, so this was a good competition to test out our team." Adidas Superstar 2 Uk . "What a f___ing joke!" the seven-time All-Star said to Swedish reporters, calling the selection of officials Kelly Sutherland, Brad Meier, Greg Devorski and Derek Amell "comedy at its highest level." Referees Sutherland and linesmen Devorski and Amell are Canadian, while referee Meier is an American who makes his home in Calgary. Not all Swedes are seemingly as upset as Forsberg. Veteran Swedish defenceman Niklas Kronwall of the Detroit Red Wings believes that both teams can benefit from North American officials. "We are used to having referees from USA and Canada in the NHL," said Kronwall. "We know their standards so I think its easier for us too if the referees are from there." Former Norris Trophy winner and Ottawa Senators standout Erik Karlsson agreed with his fellow blueliner. "I think most referees over there [in the National Hockey League] are Canadian, too," said Karlsson. "They probably support Montreal or Toronto, but they dontt make any difference there. Nike Air Max 90 Black Mens. I couldnt care less about what the referees do. As you saw yesterday, we had two power plays, Finland had a lot, and we still won the game. Its nothing we can control and neither can Canada." IIHF officiating manager Konstantin Komissarov later confirmed the evaluation process for tournament officials and why that quartet was selected to work the final. "The main factor of the selection of these officials has most of all to do with their experience officiating in high-level competitions," said Komissarov on Saturday. "These include Stanley Cup playoffs, World Championship competitions, and Olympic competitions." Komissarov stressed that an officials nationality doesnt play into the process. "Their nationalities arent considered as factors nor should they be, we want the best officials working the medal games," he said. "We are fully confident that with their experience and professionalism these officials will do their job well and preserve the integrity of the game." MORGANTOWN, W. Adidas Zx Flux Rood .Va. -- Markel Browns streak of eight straight games scoring in double figures for Oklahoma State was in jeopardy -- until he hit his final shot. Brown made a 3-pointer with 12 seconds to lift the 11th-ranked Cowboys to a 73-72 win over West Virginia on Saturday. Oklahoma State (14-2, 2-1 Big 12) trailed for most of the game, but got solid efforts from its top two scorers in the final minutes. "Proud of our team for just hanging in there," Oklahoma State coach Travis Ford said. "There was moments where it could have got away from us, but we just kept hanging in there and then we made a few big plays. And obviously Markel hit a really big shot." The game featured four of the top six scorers in the Big 12. Marcus Smart and Brown again came out on top over the Mountaineers duo of Eron Harris and Juwan Staten after a Cowboys season sweep a year ago. Despite some foul trouble, Smart had 22 points and 13 rebounds to give him two straight double-doubles. He had none before a win over Texas on Wednesday. Brown finished with 12 points. Staten finished with 20 points, but missed a pair of layups in the final 30 seconds. Harris, the leagues second-best scorer, was held to 11 points, more than seven below his average. Harris made just 3 of 11 shots. "He didnt play very well," West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said. "Im telling him every day, you have to work." West Virginias Terry Henderson scored a season-high 21 points, including a 3-pointer that put the Mountaineers ahead 72-70 with 1:14 remaining. Freshman Nathan Adrian, whos been mired in a shooting slump, sent the home crowd into a frenzy with a block of LeBryan Nashs shot attempt with 1:04 to go and West Virginia got the ball back on the tie-up. But Staten missed a layup with 27 seconds left, Brown got the rebound and Oklahoma State called timeout. Once play resumed, Smart found Brown at the top left side of the circle. "We were actually trying to feel out a shot, but when Marcus came off, everybody crashed on him, and like once before in the game he kicked it to me," Brown said. "I was open, I got a defender off his feet and I made the shot." Ford recalled that Brown had failed to take a wide-open 3-pointer on another possession about 30 seconds earlier. "Right when he did, I told him dont pass up another shot," Ford said. "And it just so happened he got another look." Staten missed another layup in traffic in the closing seconds. But Huggins was quick to come to his defence. "Juwans trying to win games," Huggins said. "I wish everyone else would follow suit sometimes. He has worked his tail off, he studies (and) he doesnt take practices off. I wish everyone else would do the same thing. He set a great example." Nash finished with 18 points. Devin Williams had 12 points and 13 rebounds for West Virginia, (10-6, 2-1), which saw its three-game winning streak snapped. Oklahoma State gave up a season high for points in the first half for the third straight game, but took advantage of a pair of West Virginia turnovers and went on an 8-2 run to open the second half for its first lead 47-43 with 16:22 left. Smart went to the bench with his third foul with 12:04 left, and the Cowboys did just fine without him. Oklahoma State went on a 7-0 run, with Brown stealing a pass from Brandon Watkins and dunking the ball uncontested for a 57-52 lead with 10:24 left. Smart returned from the sideline after three minutes and kept the Cowboys momentum going with a pair of free throws and a 3-pointer. West Virginia attempted just two free throws during its first-half run, but started getting free throws midway through the second half. The Mountaineers needed them because they made just one field goal over a 10-minute stretch after halftime. Henderson broke the drought with a 3-pointer and Staten made a layup 32 seconds later to tie the score at 67-67 with 4:21 left. Each team made two field goals the rest of the game in a physical finish. West Virginia set the tempo from the onset, leading by as many as eight in the first half before Oklahoma State got its act together with a 15-4 run to tie it. Williams turnaround jumper with 2 seconds left put West Virginia ahead 41-39 at halftime. Nike Air Max 90 Dames Roze . The NFC East rivals hope to save face Sunday night at FedEx Field. MADRID, Spain -- Medical scans have revealed no serious problems as Rafael Nadal continues his recovery from a back injury sustained at the Australian Open. Nike Shox r4 Noir . A statement from the worlds top-ranked player says all checks "were satisfactory and showed positive evolution" regarding the injury, which contributed to his loss to Stanislas Wawrinka in the final in Melbourne. Nadal is continuing to work out in the gym and his return to the tennis court -- starting on Thursday -- will decide "when he is ready to return to competition." David West scored 25 points, Paul George added 22, and the Pacers beat the Utah Jazz 94-91 on Sunday night. Indianapolis native Gordon Hayward had 21 points and Derrick Favors scored 17 for the Jazz, nine of them in the first eight minutes as Utah opened a 14-4 lead. http://www.lunarflyknit.fr/ .Y. - The Buffalo Bills have claimed safety Jerome Couplin off waivers two days after the rookie was released by the Detroit Lions.LONDON -- Manchester United was lurching towards another setback in its English Premier League title defence until Wayne Rooney inspired a second-half fightback to beat Stoke 3-2 on Saturday. Rooney headed United level in the 78th minute at Old Trafford and Javier Hernandez nodded in the winner two minutes later. Although the comeback will ease the immediate pressure on manager David Moyes, United provisionally remains eighth, eight points behind leader Arsenal. Arsenal won 2-0 at Crystal Palace, with Mikel Arteta scoring a penalty before being sent off, while Olivier Giroud headed in the second goal. Liverpool produced the most convincing victory of the day, with Luis Suarez scoring a hat trick in a 4-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion that lifted the team to second place, two points behind Arsenal. Everton is provisionally in fourth place with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in the latest installment of the most played fixture in English football history, coming on the day the Football Association celebrated its 150th anniversary. Southampton moved provisionally third with a 2-0 win over Fulham after Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez scored for the hosts. The Saints are arguably the biggest surprise team this season in the Premier League -- not counting Man Uniteds unexpected struggles. The last two decades in English football have been dominated by Manchester United, but in their first season since 1985-86 without Alex Ferguson in charge, the team is far from convincing. Moyes side has already dropped 13 points this season after it looked like the ninth league game would witness more misery. Peter Crouch bundled the ball into the net after just four minutes after Stoke left back Erik Pieters beat United defender Chris Smalling to cross to the striker. Stoke, managed by former United star Mark Hughes, remained a threat throughout the first half. Robin van Persie levelled for United in the 43rd after goalkeeper Asmir Begovic failed to fully save Rooneys header. But Stoke was back in front before the break after Marko Arnautovic sent a free kick into the top corner of the net. Boos rang out around Old Trafford at half time, and United took until the 78th to level again with Rooney flicking a header into the net from Van Persies corner. Two minutes later came another headed goal, this time from Hernandez and the game was won for United. "Stoke have not scored many but they have not conceded many either, so we knew we would have to worrk hard after going behind," Moyes told the BBC. Nike Flyknit Lunar 2 Turquoise. . "I was worried it wouldnt come -- especially when we were 2-1 down. But I think we deserved it in the end." But it is Arsenal setting the pace in its hunt for a first league title since 2004. At Crystal Palace, Arteta opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the London derby two minutes into the second half after Serge Gnabry was fouled by Adlene Guedioura. But Arsenal had to play the last 25 minutes with 10 men when Arteta was adjudged by referee Chris Foy to have brought down former Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh when he was still about 35 yards away from the goal. Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny protected Arsenals lead with a diving one-handed save to tip away a long-range shot by Mile Jedinak. But there would be no equalizer for Palace, which is next from bottom and searching for a new manager after Ian Holloway left on Wednesday. Olivier Giroud headed in Arsenals second in the 88th after connecting with Aaron Ramseys cross. "We were mature, organized and didnt become nervous and we got the second goal," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. Arsenal is showing it is coping fine without Suarez, who was pursued unsuccessfully during the summer transfer window. At Anfield, though, there was no stopping Suarez in front of goal on Saturday. The first goal came after 12 minutes, with Suarez picking up possession on the right and skipping past Yacob before nutmegging Jonas Olsson and netting with an angled shot. The Uruguay striker was on target again with a header five minutes later from distance, and he completed his hat trick by nodding in another 10 minutes into the second half. James Morrison grabbed one back for West Brom from the penalty spot before a spectacular long-range lob from Daniel Sturridge completed Liverpools convincing win. At Villa Park, Christian Benteke squandered an early chance to put the hosts in front when Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard saved his penalty after eight minutes. Bentekes Belgium teammate Romelu Lukaku then put Everton ahead in the 69th minute with his fifth goal in five games, and Leon Osman added the second in the 81st to hand Villa its fourth home loss of the season. Everton only has one loss in nine games and provisionally climbed above Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham, who all play Sunday. Norwich remains in the relegation zone after drawing 0-0 with Cardiff, which is just a point higher up. NEW ORLEANS -- Tony Parker was causing the Pelicans so much trouble with his dazzling dribble drives that New Orleans best defender, agile big man Anthony Davis, stepped out to challenge the shifty San Antonio point guard on the perimeter during the critical final five minutes. Nike Air Max Thea Zwart Wit . With a shoulder fake to his right and a cross-over dribble to the left, Parker wrong-footed Davis and exploded down an open lane for yet another easy layup. Parker scored 21 of his 32 points in the second half and also doled out nine assists, and the Spurs overcame a 14-point deficit en route to a 102-95 victory over the Pelicans on Monday night. "Tony pretty much carved them up," said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, referring to Parker as "a monster" down the stretch. Tim Duncan scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half, and Marco Belinelli added 13 against his former club. Davis had 17 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, Anthony Morrow added 20 points and Eric Gordon scored 19 for the Pelicans, who appeared in line for their fifth win in six games when they led by 14 near the end of the third quarter. The Spurs had other plans, outscoring New Orleans 38-19 in the final period. "Finally, in the fourth quarter, we were more physical and played better defence," Parker said. "And we just know how to win. ... In the fourth quarter, when its tight, we know how to execute and we know what we want to do on offence." Duncan had a difficult first half, hitting only two of his first eight shots and even missing a dunk, but looked like his usual self when it mattered. He opened the third quarter by making 5 of 7 shots. Parker added 10 points in the quarter, and his scoop shot had San Antonio as close as 65-62 with 3:13 left in the period. But New Orleans regained its rhythm once more while the Spurs briefly came unhinged. Shortly after Morrows 3 made it 70-62, Parker and Duncan were called for technical fouls on the same offensive possession. Morrow made both free throws, then got fouled and made two more free throws, and New Orleans went back up by 14 on Greg Stiemsmas tip-in. San Antonio simply wouldnt go away, suffocating New Orleans shooters and forcing four turnovers in the first six minutes of the final quarter. "We had some costly turnovers," Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. "A number of our guys, you look at our numbers, we just did not shoot the ball well across the board, in the fourth quarter for sure." The Pelicans has 16 turnovers in all, leading to 18 San Antonio points, and New Orleans made only 8 of 21 shots (38 per cent) in the final period. That, combined with Parkers clutch play, was too much to overcome. "Tony Parker got it going and we didnt corral him enough when he got in the paint," Morrow said. "He just made more plays down the stretch." The Spurs, meanwhile, took over the game with a 12-0 run that began when Patty Mills hit a 19-foot jumper and followed that with a 3. Then Danny Green, back from a broken left hand to play for the first time in 10 games, made his first shot -- a 3-pointer -- on his seventh attempt with 7:24 to go to pull the Spurs to 82-78. Parker completed the comeback a few plays later with his driving floater that tied it at 82 with 5:48 to go. "We played badly for 24-plus minutes -- made a lot of mistakes and finally put a stretch together," Duncan said. "We finally made some shots, honestly. We made, I think, two 3s in a row during the run that were big for us. We just needed something. We needed some kind of spark, some kind of stop-and-score. ... We had a crew in there that did it well." The Pelicans shot nearly 57 per cent in the first half (21 of 37) and led for most of it. Morrow made five of his first six shots and Gordon had 12 early points, including a 3 that put the Pelicans up 54-42 at halftime. NOTES: Green finished with 7 points in 30 minutes in what was his first action since Jan. 12. ... Pelicans G Tyreke Evans played only five minutes, leaving the game for good shortly after hurting his right ribs in a collision with Matt Bonner. ... The halftime performer, tight-rope artist Fletcher Runyan, drew empathetic groans from the crowd when he fell and straddled the rope. After sitting on the rope with a pained expression on his face for several seconds, he gingerly got back up, landed a successful backflip, then smiled and waved as he walked off the court to applause. The Minnesota Wild made official what has been suspected for some time, assigning defenceman Matt Dumba to Team Canadas World Juniors team. Nike Air Force 1 Blancas . The move was expected as Dumba was included on Team Canadas Selection Camp roster for the tournament. Selection camp starts Thursday before the team heads to Sweden the week after. In 13 games with the Wild this season Dumba has one goal and two points with a minus-5 rating. The Minnesota manager was chosen along with Clevelands Terry Francona as coaches to join AL manager John Farrell of Boston in the July 15 All-Star game at Target Field. http://www.asicszapatillasbaratas.es/ .com) - Former champion Maria Sharapova and third seed Simona Halep notched wins, while former runner-up Ana Ivanovic was a stunning opening-round loser on Day 1 at the Australian Open. DUNEDIN, Fla. -- Ricky Romero is headed back to the minors. One day after being shelled by the Detroit Tigers, the former Opening Day starter and fellow pitcher Marcus Stroman were sent to the Blue Jays minor league camp. Toronto manager John Gibbons said both pitchers needed more work. Gibbons tried to soften the blow for Romero, saying the 29-year-old left-hander had pitched well earlier in the spring and was moving in the right direction after two troubled seasons. "We really like what he did this camp," Gibbons told reporters Wednesday prior to a Grapefruit League game against the Philadelphia Phillies. "Just go down there and polish it up." Stroman, a 2012 first-round draft choice who pitched in Class-AA last season, managed just one out in Tuesdays 18-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers. The 22-year-old right-hander gave up seven runs on six hits. "He was kind of the odd man out," said Gibbons. "He had trouble throwing strikes (Tuesday). Hes got to do that." Romero, who is due to make US$7.75 million this season, walked five and threw two wild pitches in 2 2/3 innings. Unofficially he threw 57 pitches, 23 for strikes. Gibbons said Romero needs to do "whatever it takes" to throw strikes. He was an all-star in 2011 when he went 15-11 with a 2.92 earned-run average. In 2012, he slumped to 9-14 with a 5.77 ERA and things got worse in 2013, when he saw action in just four games in the majors with an 0-2 record and 11.05 ERA. He spent most of last season in the minors where he went 5-8 with 5.52 ERA. "Its a long road. You never know if a guys going to make it back from that or not," said Gibbons. "But he was starting to show the signs of it. (Tuesday) he wasnt as good and it just kind of reaffirmed, Hey start him down there, but hes moving in the right direction." Romero had been a feel-good story earlier in spring training. Gibbons called him "the big talk of camp" last week after giving up one run in seven innings for an ERA of 1.29 in three appearances. But Romero fell back to earth Tuesday in Lakeland. He gave up three runs on three hitts with five walks, a hit batsman and two wild pitches. Nike Juvenate Hombre. "Weve taken too many steps forward to dwell on this," Romero said philosophically afterwards. Somewhat bizarrely, he referred to a "weird weather day" in noting "the balls were a little slick and just kept coming out of my hand." It was a sunny 20-degree day at Joker Marchant Stadium. Romero has been positive this spring, making an effort to stay in the moment rather than labour in the past or worry about the future. A lot of people have been rooting for him to succeed, including his manager. "We feel for the guy," said Gibbons. "Its not just looking at results. As much work as the kids putting in, things like that -- the battles hes going through, mentally -- you root for him. You root for him extra hard. "But were encouraged. Were positive after this camp. He may look at it differently but we feel positive with what he accomplished this spring." Romero had left the clubhouse by the time the announcement was made. Gibbons said the pitcher was disappointed at the news. "And rightfully so. I cant blame him for that, but hopefully he feels good about how this spring went." Despite the positive signs, Gibbons said he always saw Romero as having an outside shot at making the team. "Personally I thought regardless of the camp he had, it would probably do him some good to start down in the minor leagues in real competition where things are different," he said. "Just to make sure hes back to where he needs to be. "Because you dont want him to come up and if hes not ready to start the season, backslides and he may never regroup. So that was kind of my thinking. But that wasnt everybodys opinion. If he proved he was ready in spring training, he might have been the guy." NOTES -- Gibbons said closer Casey Janssen felt "great" after a throwing on the mound Tuesday and will go again Friday. Hes slated to make three or four appearances before the season starts March 31 in Tampa. Janssen has been limited in action to protect against shoulder soreness.
