CAMPBELLVILLE, Ont. Paulo Orlando Jersey . -- Tellitlikeitis heads into the $1-million Pepsi North America Cup on Saturday as the horse to beat. Tellitlikeitis was installed as the 3-1 early favourite for the worlds richest pacing event at Tuesdays draw. The son of 09 Cup winner Well Said will start from the third post in the 10-horse field at Mohawk Racetrack. Tellitlikeitis, bred and owned by Lothlorien of Cheltenham, Ont., won his elimination race in a career best 1:48.4, passing heavily-favoured Hes Watching for the 1 1/4-length win in just his second start of the year. Tellitlikeitis also won his season opener, a Pennsylvania Sires Stake, at Pocono Downs last month. Lothlorien has shared ownership of three previous Cup winners -- Well Said (2009), Rocknroll Hanover (2005) and Red River Hanover (2002). Trainer Jim Takter has only started two previous Cup entrants, both in 2012, and finished second with Time To Roll. Brett Miller has two previous Cup drives, finishing second in 2010 with We Will See. "He has wicked speed and hell take you to where you want to go in the mile," said Miller. "I definitely wanted to sit in with him this week (in the elim) and it worked out very well that the two horses I wanted to follow were in front of me." The three Cup elimination races were held Saturday to determine the field for the final. Takter will have to Cup entrants, the other being Lyonssomewhere, the 4-1 third choice who also was an elimination race winner. Lyonssomewhere, owned by Geoffrey Lyons Mound of Burford, Ont., will start from the No. 4 position and is undefeated in five starts. The son of 08 Cup winner and horse of the year Somebeachsomewhere took his elim comfortably in 1:50.1 by one and three-quarter lengths in his first stakes appearance. Hell be driven by Corey Callahan, making only his second Cup drive after finishing fourth with Mr Wiggles in 2009. "I like just about everything about him," said Takter. "Hes handy and hes the real deal. "Its a long year and I wanted to have him fresh for this event and not too many starts." Other elim winner, Mcwicked, selected the No. 2 post. Mcwicked, the American-owned son of 02 third-place Cup finisher Mcardle, posted the fastest elimination race victory, winning by two lengths in 1:48.3. Mcwicked is trained by Casie Campbell and is a five-time winner in 14 outings with career earnings of $248,457. "He was absolutely awesome (in his elim)," Coleman said. "It was the fourth time Ive raced him and every time he keeps getting better and better. "It looks like theres a lot of speed in the race. My horse can race either way. Id prefer him coming off a helmet but hes very versatile." The remainder of the field includes: Beat The Drum (post one, 20-1 odds); Lets Drink On It (post five, 6-1); Cowboy (post six, 15-1); Hes Watching (post seven, 5-1); Luck Be Withyou (post eight, 12-1); JK Endofanera (post nine, 10-1); and Sometimes Said (post 10, 20-1). Edinson Volquez Jersey . -- Canadian mens rugby coach Kieran Crowley has made four changes to his starting roster for Saturdays Pacific Nations Cup clash against the United States. Bo Jackson Jersey . -- Canadas Nicole Vandermade won the Four Winds Invitational on Sunday for her first Symetra Tour title, closing with a 4-under 68 for a one-stroke victory. http://www.authentickcroyalsprostore.com/Eric-Hosmer-royals-jersey/ . Rodgers was ruled out on Friday by Packers head coach Mike McCarthy. Matt Flynn will make his second consecutive start for the Packers. SALT LAKE CITY -- A game after he scored a career-high 43 points, nothing seemed to be going right for Paul George. Fighting a cold, his chest was burning and he couldnt seem to catch his breath. To make matters worse, his reliable shooting stroke was faltering. "It was so hard to find my wind but I didnt want to make any excuses. I tried to play through it and find a way to will us to a win tonight," said George, who scored 19 points as the Indiana Pacers returned to their defensive ways in beating the Utah Jazz 95-86 on Wednesday. George and Pacers primarily did it with defence as they usually do. "We struggled but we stuck with what we do best," said George, who had a key steal and dunk moments after the Jazz got within two points midway through the final period. "We made those guys take tough shots and, over time, those shots start to get a little short or a little long. Our defence played a huge part in us getting this win." Lance Stephenson scored 15 points, Luis Scola had 14 and Roy Hibbert added 13 points to win in Utah for the first time since an 84-60 victory on Nov. 29, 2005. The Pacers were coming off their first back-to-back games of the season in which they allowed their opponent to reach 100 points -- L.A. Clippers and Portland. But Indiana outscored the Jazz 27-19 in the fourth quarter and parlayed 14 Utah turnovers in 20 points. "They pushed us off our spots," Utah coach Tyrone Corbin said. "They put pressure on us a little bit and threw off our rhythm." Gordon Haywards 3-pointer cut the Indiana lead to 79-76 before the Pacers scored nine straight points, capped by Wests 20-foot jumper that just beat the shot clock, and never looked back. "We made the better plays down the stretch. We got what we wanted, getting open shots because we executed in the fourth quarter," West said. Derrick Favours led Utah with 22 points and 13 rebounds and Enes Kanter had 20 points and 10 boards for the Jazz, who had won three of their last four games. Hayward and George, who have worked out together in the summers and were picked ninth and 10th in the 2010 draft, both struggled with their shooting against each others tenacious defence. "Its always fun playing against Gordon because hes one of the few guys in this league that never lets up. I know I always have my hands full when I face him," George said. When George finally made a 3-pointer -- his firsst in eight attempts -- with 53 seconds left, he paused and pointed skyward in relief at seeing one drop. Kelvin Herrera Royals Jersey. . "I pointed up to the basketball gods and thanked them. It was just a relief. I wasnt able to shoot the ball well and I was just fatigued out there," said George, who finished 7 of 20 from the field after an acrobatic layup with 21 seconds remaining. Hayward made only 3 of 14 shots and finished with 12 points. "They are good defensively. They challenged a lot of shots at the rim and forced us to shoot over the top and we just couldnt knock them down," Hayward said. Behind 10 points each from Kanter and Favours, the Jazz built an 11-point lead in the first half that evaporated to 48-47 by halftime. Led by Stephenson, the Pacers used an 18-4 run bridging the second and third quarters to move in front. The Pacers are the top defensive team in the league -- holding opponents to 39.5 per cent shooting and 87.6 points per game -- but they allowed the Clippers to score 100 points in a win and the Blazers 106 points in a loss on the current five-game road trip. "It was a really good win for our guys, kind of a grind-it-out type of game," Indiana coach Frank Vogel said. Power forwards Marvin Williams (foot) and Jeremy Evans (flu) sat out the game for the Jazz but Utah attacked the Pacers for three quarters and led 69-68 after Kanters layup to open the fourth quarter. But the deeper into the fourth period they went, the more difficult it was for the Jazz to score. The Pacers disrupted the Jazz offensive sets and when Utah found open looks they misfired down the stretch. "The altitude and my asthma kicked me in the rear to begin with. But I got my second wind and I was trying to be a defensive presence," said Hibbert, who blocked two shots and altered several others. The Pacers tough trip concludes with a back-to-back set against San Antonio on Saturday and Oklahoma City a day later. NOTES: Jazz rookie Trey Burke had a career-high nine assists. . Stephenson, upset with an offensive foul call in the fourth quarter, threw the ball over his shoulder and got a technical foul. . Kanter looked as if he threw Hibbert to the floor in the final two minutes but Hibbert gave a sly smile, indicating he may have helped sell the call. . Though he travelled with the team, Danny Granger has only played five games this season for the Pacers due to a strained calf and is still inactive. Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

BROSSARD, Que. Byron Buxton Twins Jersey . - Dale Weise recalls the first time Vancouver faced Boston in the regular season after the Bruins seven-game victory over the Canucks in the 2011 Stanley Cup final.Early in the first period, a brawl erupted as Alex Burrows got a stick up during a line change. Weise was in the main event, trading punches with Bostons Nathan Horton in a long battle away from the main melee. We had a line brawl seven minutes in, Weise, now a member of the Montreal Canadiens, said Wednesday. So I think the fans, the media and everybody got what they wanted there. The gritty winger does not expect quite the same when the Bruins visit the Bell Centre for the Canadiens home opener on Thursday night, or that there will be any spillover of bitterness from Montreals seven-game victory over their archrivals in the second round of playoffs last spring. In the handshake line after Game 7, Bostons Milan Lucic reportedly told Weise Im going to kill you next year, and also had words for defenceman Alexei Emelin.None of the Canadiens take Lucic literally. Weise expects a hard-fought game against a rival and divisional opponent, but not a war.I dont see it being the case, said Weise. The media kinda blows things up a bit and the games have a hard time living up to that, so were just focusing on having a good game.Being our first home game, everyones excited, the crowds going to be jumping and everybody will be ready to go.Lucic took exception to Weises mock muscle flex in the finale, a mimic of the Bruins wingers chest thumping and muscle flexing earlier in the series. The Bruins had a game Wednesday night in Detroit, so there was no word on their approach to the rematch with Montreal, although games between the teams are always tough and sometimes nasty.I expect a loud crowd, I expect us to come out and play well and I expect an intense game, added Weise. Any time Boston plays Montreal theres a lot of animosity.I dont think theres going to be anything extra. Its always there. On Lucic, Weise said: Thats the way he plays every night. He plays hard. Hes intense. I dont think anythings different if he plays us or any other team. That will be seen when the puck drops as the Canadiens return home after starting the season 3-1-0 on the road. The trip included three comeback victories after weak first periods followed by a 7-1 thrashing at the hands in Tampa on Monday night. The Lightning took revenge for a first round sweep at the hands of the Canadiens in the opening round in April. The Bruins will no doubt be seeking vengeance as well, said winger Brendan Gallagher.Weve been in that situation, he said. When you lose to a team in a playoff series; the disappointment, and how badly you want to beat them the next time we play them.Tampa was like that. They fully deserved to win that game. They were a much better hockey team, and Bostons going to be the same. We have to match that intensity. We have to do what we did well in those playoff series.Gallagher, who brings a similar grit and intensity but in a much smaller package, trains with Lucic in the off-season in Vancouver. His father, Ian Gallagher, is strength and conditioning coach for the junior Vancouver Giants and has worked with Lucic for several years.Brendan Gallagher calls his Boston rival a good person who happens to play hockey with fire and a strong dose of nastiness.Knowing Looch and the type of person and player he is, hes going to play a good game, said Gallagher. Hes competitive and thats what makes him Milan Lucic and such a tough player to play against.Hes going to be up for it, but our group will be the same way. Its definitely going to be a fun game to be part of. Youre going to have to manage your emotions. Its going to be a battle.Coach Michel Therrien said he expects the usual intensity of a Boston-Montreal game, but he was more concerned about his special teams, which have gone 0-for-14 on the power play and a mediocre 14-for-18 on the penalty kill. The special teams units worked an extra half hour before practice, something Therrien said they werent able to do on the road.Weve got to be better on special teams, said Therrien. We havent had much chance to work on the power play because of the schedule. On the road, we watched video and worked on Xs and Os, but you need to practice. The next two weeks will be good for us because were home for four games and well have lots of time to practice.Left-winger Max Pacioretty said the team needs to bear down more on the power play and earn their chances.Last game we were terrible on the power play, he said. You have to have the same mindset as 5 on 5, in playing hard and winning your battles. Sometimes you get too comfortable on a power play and expect the guy next to you to make a play.It appears the Canadiens will have Emelin back after the defenceman missed two games with an upper body injury. And it looks like Nathan Beaulieu will come out of the lineup, while six-foot-six Jarred Tinordi will play on the third pairing with Mike Weaver. No change is expected up front, unless Therrien opts to give Travis Moen a start on the fourth line, perhaps in Weises spot. Moen is a strong penalty killer.Michael Bournival, who has yet to play this season, was sent to AHL Hamilton to play a pair of weekend games and is to return to Montreal on Monday. Therrien said the second-year forward needs playing time to stay sharp. Danny Santana Twins Jersey . - The Denver Broncos kept rookie wide receiver Tavarres King from joining the Green Bay Packers by promoting him to their active roster Tuesday. Paul Molitor Jersey . In the days leading up to the draft, TSN.ca and TSN Radio basketball analyst Duane Watson looks at some of the names that will be headlining the event. Woods, 60, had a 17-62 record in seven seasons at VMI, including 2-10 this year. The Keydets had a 1-6 record in their first season back as a Southern Conference meember after an 11-year run in the Big South Conference. Bert Blyleven Twins Jersey. EAST RUTHERFORD, N. Authentic Chris Jones Cowboys Jersey .J. -- With six losses on their resume, the New York Giants could have been wondering if they would ever win a game this season. Instead, they searched within to see what they are made of. "The players and coaches have great pride in what were doing," Eli Manning said Monday night after -- at last -- the teams first victory, 23-7 over the Minnesota Vikings. "We just had to keep going, get rid of some of the mistakes, and play the way we need to play." They were efficient, if not overwhelming, which is all they needed to be against the mistake-prone Vikings (1-5). The Giants began the season as the team turning over the ball (minus-16 difference) while showing little penchant for playing defence. But against the Vikings, they had three takeaways to one lost fumble. Peterson, the leagues MVP last season and a 2,000-yard rusher, was held to 28 yards five days after his 2-year-old son was buried in South Dakota. The man accused in the death was indicted on second-degree murder and manslaughter charges, prosecutors said Monday. "It was tough sledding. We couldnt get anything established up front," Peterson said. "I was focused on preparing for the game, unfortunately it didnt work out the way we wanted to. It was tough. The defence made it hard." Peterson was not helped by a rusty Josh Freeman, making his debut as Vikings quarterback after being signed as a free agent when Tampa Bay cut the 2009 first-round draft pick. Freeman frequently missed open receivers, and several of his throws sailed yards beyond his targets. Coach Leslie Frazier said he considered taking out Freeman, but that the score was close enough for him to stick with his new QB. Josh Brown kicked three field goals and Rueben Randle caught a 24-yard TD pass for New York (1-6). "For us, we cant look too much past a win and a step in the right direction," defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins said. "We cant look beyond the next step." Marcus Sherels provided Minnesotas points with an 86-yard punt return, but his fumble without being hit during a runback midway in the third quarter set up New York at the Vikings 3. Peyton Hillis, signed last Wednesday with the Giants in dire need of running backs, surged in from the 1 for a 17-7 lead -- New Yorks biggest in 2013. The lead grew on Browns 23-yard field goal to finish off a 16-play, 75-yard drive, and to 23-7 on his 36-yarder. Another Vikings mistake handed those points to the Giants: Rookie Sharrif Floyd, a defensive tackle of all things, fumbled at Minnesotas 18 while returning a short kickoff. "We needed to get one on the board," defensive end Justin Tuck said. "I told (general manager) Jerry Reese that I think we have a shovel to start digging our way out of this hole. Hopefully, tonight is something we can build off. Its still a long way to climb out of this hole. But this was something that we could get the ball rolling." The Giants controlled the clock and the ball for most of the opening quarter and led 3-0 when Sherels broke his spectacular punt return -- the third against the Giants this season. He sped down the left sideline virtually untouched, then twice faked out punter Steve Weatherford. By the time Weatherford reached Sherels, it was at the goal line -- where Weatherford brought him down with a horse-collar tackle. Minnesota had a total of 8 yards on punt runbacks heading into Monday night. But Sherels set a team mark with 119. Before Sherels sprint, New York had gone 17 plays and used up the first 9:36, but bogged down at the 16 and Brown made a 35-yard field goal. And one play after Minnesota hurt itself on rookie Xavier Rhodes 23-yard pass interference penalty, Manning threw a laser to a leaping Randle in the left corner of the end zone for a 10-7 lead. It was the first time New York led at halftime all season. The defence held Peterson to 9 yards rushing on eight carries, and he didnt do much more in the second half. Manning, who led the league with 15 interceptions, didnt throw one for the first time all season. And while Freeman was picked only one time, by Antrel Rolle, he looked like someone who hadnt played in more than a month. "A lot of the plays were just a hair off," Freeman said. Freeman finished 20 of 53 for 190 yards. Manning was 23 for 39 for 200 yards. NOTES: Giants centre David Baas, who missed the last three games with a neck injury, returned but soon was sidelined by a knee problem. Hell have an MRI on Tuesday. ... Frazier said there would be MRIs for fullback Rhett Ellison on his left ankle, and halfback Matt Asiata on his shoulder. ... The Giants had given up a league-high 209 points before shutting down Minnesota. Authentic Barry Church Cowboys Jersey . 1. Did the Senators trade the wrong goalie? Lets make one thing clear: The Ottawa Senators acquired Ben Bishop from the St. Louis Blues for one reason and one reason alone. http://www.shoptheofficialcowboys.com/Elite-Dak-Prescott-Cowboys-Jersey/ .Y. - Joe Johnson hit six 3-pointers in his 27 points, Mason Plumlee added 18 points, and the Brooklyn Nets won their 11th straight at home, beating the Boston Celtics 114-98 Friday night. Each week, well take a look at some top performers from the CFL, with an eye to looking ahead to some matchups that could be favourable for TSN Fantasy Football, CFL Edition, presented by Joseph Abboud. Here are some of the best from Week Four -- its a Lions sweep! -- and players to watch for Week Five: TOP PERFORMERS Emmanuel Arceneaux, WR, British Columbia (8 REC, 145 YDS, 3 TD vs. Montreal) - The fourth year receiver missed the first couple games of the year with a hand injury, and had a modest five catches for 53 yards against Saskatchewan in his season debut, but Arceneaux destroyed the Alouettes secondary with his most receiving yardage in a CFL game since November, 2010. Kevin Glenn, QB, British Columbia (23-for-31, 301 YDS, 2 TD vs. Montreal) - A healthy receiving corps has worked in Glenns favour as he struggled early in the year, but has come on in the past couple weeks. Last weeks 301 passing yards was the first time in nine games, going back to last season, that he passed for more than 300 yards. He still has more interceptions (6) than touchdown passes (5), but Week Four was a good one for Glenn. Andrew Harris, RB, British Columbia (150 YDS, 1 TD, 16 touches vs. Montreal) - The most dangerous offensive player in the CFL, with a league-leading 518 yards from scrimmage, Harris was efficient against Montreal, averaging 9.38 yards per touch on offence, and hes now gained 353 yards from scrimmage in the past two weeks. PLAAYERS TO WATCH IN WEEK FIVE Fred Stamps, WR, Edmonton - Crushed on a hit by Blue Bombers Demond Washington last week, Stamps has apparently recovered and is back. Authentic Dak Prescott Jersey. A five-time 1,000-yard receiver, Stamps hasnt broken out for a big game yet this year and while its not like Calgarys pass defence is a weak spot (ranked fourth), the Eskimos have a pretty good passing attack (also ranked fourth) and Stamps might be overdue for a productive game. Andy Fantuz, WR, Hamilton - Theres some risk involved with any TiCats receiver, given the shaky quarterback situation while Zack Collaros is out, but Fantuz did have seven catches for 59 yards in his season debut last week. Thats enough to make him worth a look against the expansion Redblacks, who allow a league-high 287.0 passing yards per game. Taj Smith, WR, Saskatchewan - The Toronto Argonauts are no prize defensively, either, allowing 285.3 passing yards per game and that could bode well for Smith, the Roughriders top receiver, who has touchdowns in the past two games and had a season-high 82 yards receiving against B.C. in Week Three. Quarterback Darian Durant threw for 295 yards and a couple of scores when the Riders last faced the Argos, so there should be some yardage available for Smith in this matchup. SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Workers at a World Cup stadium in the jungle city of Manaus are threatening to go on strike to demand better conditions following a third recent death at the venue. Alec Martinez Jersey . The strike could further delay the completion of the Arena da Amazonia stadium just months before footballs showcase tournament. A union leader says the stoppage will begin Monday to "guarantee the workers rights." A 55-year-old Portuguese man was killed in an accident on Friday while disassembling a crane that was used to install the stadiums roof, becoming the third worker to die at the venue in less than a year. The Arena da Amazonia is one of the five stadiums still under construction for the World Cup. Organizers say it was nearly completed when Fridays accident happened. Dwight King Jersey . Brandon Prust also scored and Max Pacioretty supplied three assists for the Canadiens, who won their third straight game. Carey Price made 25 saves in the win. It feels great. My linemates made it easy for me. I had a lot of fun out there tonight, Galchenyuk said. We had good chemistry tonight. Victor Rask supplied Carolinas lone goal and Cam Ward gave up all four goals on 29 shots in his teams sixth straight loss. You have to believe that you are going to score, Hurricanes head coach Bill Peters said. We have to quit dropping the stick as tight as we are and shoot to score when you go to the net. Early on, David Desharnais took a cross-ice feed from Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau and skated down the left side to below the goal line, dragging Ward out of position. Prust received a pass from Desharnais and buried the puck into a wide-open net to open the scoring 9:15 into the contest. Galchenyuk increased Montreals lead with a wrister from the right circle off a tic-tac-toe passing play at 8:33 of the second. Tug McGraw Jersey. TORONTO -- Grey Cup MVP Kory Sheets is one of five Saskatchewan Roughriders named to the 2013 CFL all-star team. Cheap Robert Parish Jersey . But the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, runners-up in last months CFL championship game, failed to place a single player on the team voted on by the Football Reporters of Canada and the leagues head coaches. The 10-8 Ticats had earlier placed seven players on the East Division all-star team. The Ticats tweeted they are the first team in league history to earn a spot in the Grey Cup without a single CFL all-star. That drew a "LOL" retweet from the Argonauts. The Ticats responded with a "..and we still ended your season. LOL!" tweet from the Hamilton team. That prompted a "and then what happened?" tweet from the Argos, complete with a photo of Saskatchewan quarterback Darian Durant kissing the Grey Cup. Calgary led all clubs with seven CFL all-stars, with running back Jon Cornish adding to a memorable season that has already netted him the leagues Most Outstanding Player and Outstanding Canadian awards. Toronto had five all-stars while Montreal had four, B.C. three, Edmonton two and Winnipeg one. In 2013, Cornish won his second straight rushing title by gaining 1,813 yards, fourth-highest in league history. He also led the league and set a Calgary franchise record with 2,157 yards from scrimmage. His season was marked by nine 100-yard games -- including a Stamps-record five straight -- and a career-best 208-yard outing Oct. 5 against Winnipeg. Sheets ran for more than 100 yards in the first six games of the season and finished tied with a franchise-best nine. In 15 games, he ran 287 times for 1,598 yards and caught 37 balls for 264 yards. The second-year Rider also ran for a Grey Cup-record 197 yards and two touchdowns to help the Roughriders thump the Ticats 45-23. Cornish was one of three unanimous all-star selections. The others were Calgary defensive end Charleston Hughes and Montreal receiver S.J. Green. The other Stampeder all-stars were receiver Marquay McDaniel, offensive tackle Stanley Bryant, kicker Rene Paredes, punter Rob Maver and special-teams player Larry Taylor. Ricky Ray of the Argos got the nod at quarterback, with an all-star backfield of Cornish and Sheets. The receivers were Green, McDaniel, Edmontons Fred Stamps, and Saskatchewans Weston Dressler. Ray, runner-up to Cornish for Most Outstanding Player, had a record-breaking year marred only by injury and the loss to Hamilton in the Eastern final. In 10 games, Ray completed 77.2 per cent of his passes (234 of 303) to erase Dave Dickensons league record of 74 per cent. For Montreal linebacker Chip Cox and Stamps, it was a fourth all-star honours. B.C. defensive tackle Jovan Olafioye and defensive back Ryan Phillips were named all-stars for the third time. Eleven others, including Cornish and Ray, were honoured for a second time. --- CFL All-Stars (x- denotes unanimous choice) Offence Quarterback: Ricky Ray, Toronto. Coach Michel Therrien said he will give the three players a rest ahead of the NHL playoffs. The Canadiens play Wednesday night in Chicago and return home to face the New York Islanders on Thursday night before ending the regular season Saturday against the New York Rangers. "At this stage, a lot of players are dealing with little bumps," said Therrien. "Markov and Emelin play a lot of difficult minutes against the other teams best players. They kill penalties. They block shots and get involved physically. This will give some young players a chance to play." Therrien did not say whether backup goalie Peter Budaj will start in Chicago. Dustin Tokarski was recalled from AHL Hamilton. Price will start against the two New York teams. Therrien also would not say if other veterans will be rested this week. "Most players would rather play than sit out,&qquot; he said, adding that there is a fine line between giving players rest and to risking to lose the momentum the team has had in the last three weeks. Authentic John Havlicek Celtics Jersey. Markovs team-leading run of 137 consecutive games played will end. P.K. Subban will become the new team leader at 122 games. Subbans defence partner Josh Gorges is expected to return after missing 15 games following surgery on his left hand, and rookies Nathan Beaulieu and Jarred Tinordi will both play. Despite resting key veterans, Therrien said the team was going to Chicago "to win." The Canadiens have clinched a playoff spot, but are still battling for home-ice advantage in the first round. "It gets downplayed before the playoffs, but if it goes to a Game 7, we prefer to play it at home," said forward Daniel Briere. "With two more wins, we should be OK." Injured forwards Brandon Prust and Travis Moen are also out, as is defenceman Douglas Murray who will sit out the last of a three-game suspension for a check to the head. Wholesale NFL Jerseys ' ' '

Paris, France (SportsNetwork. Saucony Jazz Nuova Collezione .com) - Former champion and last years runner-up Maria Sharapova and Czech slugger Petra Kvitova won their opening matches at the 2014 French Open on Monday. After waiting out a rain delay, the seventh-seeded Russian star Sharapova needed only 61 minutes to post a 6-1, 6-2 win over compatriot Ksenia Pervak on Court Chatrier. Pervak has yet to win a match in four trips to Roland Garros. "Its always nice to get out there on a day like this. Its good to play first match, as you know," Sharapova said. Watch Eugenie Bouchards opening round match at the Australian Open live tonight on TSN5 at 3am et/Midnight pt.The New York Rangers withstood early pressure from the Montreal Canadiens and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was on top of his game as the New York Rangers took Game Two with a 3-1 win. Before the game started, the Canadiens had announced that G Carey Price would be out for the series, with a knee injury suffered in a collision with Rangers LW Chris Kreider, and head coach Michel Therrien made the decision to go with Dustin Tokarski in Prices place. Tokarski, 24, has posted a .921 save percentage in 56 games with Hamilton of the AHL since he was acquired from Tampa Bay last year, and stopped 88 of 93 shots (.946 SV%) in three games with the Canadiens this year, but Tokarski has also started 10 NHL games in his career, so the decision came with a certain amount of risk. Montreal opened the game asserting territorial control, with 24 of the first 34 unblocked shot attempts in the game. Habs LW Max Pacioretty got the Canadiens on the board first, 6:14 into the game, with his third goal in the past four games. At that point, the Canadiens were looking good. Only 17 seconds later, Rangers D Ryan McDonagh scored on a shot that deflected off D Josh Gorges and past Tokarski. McDonagh added an assist later, giving him six points in the first two games of the series. As the first period neared a close, the Rangers looked like they might be able to escape with a tie score despite getting the wrong end of the puck possession game, but then circumstances got even better for the Blueshirts. A quick-break three-on-two, following a defensive zone face-off, resulted in a goal for Rick Nash, the second straight game in which he has scored. Tokarski could have come across the crease quicker, perhaps but, even so, Nashs one-time snap shot was stoppable. It was the kind of goal for which Tokarski shouldnt really be blamed -- he didnt give up the three-on-two break -- but, especially in the playoffs, it was the kind off goal that comes under more scrutiny. Saucony Shadow 5000. So the Canadiens, who might have been somewhat frustrated to end the first frame tied despite dominating play, werent even tied, they were down by a goal. Then, 8:03 into the second period, Rangers RW Martin St. Louis scored a power goal, with a rocket shot inside the post, and the Canadiens climb got much steeper. Montreal was stifled for much of the rest of the game, with a few surges, particularly on a power play, with Tokarski pulled, in the last four minutes, but Lundqvist was there to turn back any Habs attempts. In his last five games, Lundqvist has stopped 162 of 168 shpts (.964 SV%) and, over the past three seasons, has a .933 save percentage in the playoffs. Not exactly an easy head-to-head matchup for Tokarski to win. The Canadiens got LW Alex Galchenyuk back in the lineup -- his first game since suffering a knee injury April 9 against Chicago -- and the line of Brendan Gallagher, David Desharnais and Max Pacioretty was on for more than 86% of the 5-on-5 shot attempts when they were on the ice. D P.K. Subban had 18 shot attempts (nine on net, six blocked, three missed the net) and Gallagher had 13 attempts. More problematic for the Canadiens is that Thomas Vanek didnt register a shot on goal. In the past seven games, Vanek has registered either one or zero shots in six of them. Its not as if the Canadiens have altogether no hope, but its not an easy task to come back from a two-games-to-none series deficit, and doing so with questions in goal makes that scenario all the less likely. They will need a dramatically different performance in New York if they are going to reverse the path which is currently leading them to the offseason in short order. MINNEAPOLIS -- By the time Dan Straily took the mound for the second inning, he knew he just didnt have it. Adreian Payne Jersey . His velocity nowhere to be found, the 25-year-old right-hander took the next step in his maturation process by gritting his teeth, focusing on location and changing speeds over anything flashy and shutting down the Minnesota Twins. Straily pitched three-hit ball for seven innings and Sam Fuld hit a rare home run to help the Oakland Athletics complete a three-game sweep with a 6-1 victory Thursday. "Its part of learning from the past, from last year," said Straily (1-1), who gave up one run and struck out five. "On days when I didnt have my best stuff, I would try to pitch like I did and it would cost me. After the second inning, I realized I didnt have my A stuff in my arm today. So it was just a matter of mixing speeds and keeping everybody off balance. The Athletics rotation has opened the season with nine straight starts allowing three runs or less and has compiled a 1.93 ERA in 56 innings. "Theyve done a great job. So far, so good," Josh Donaldson said of the rotation. "Cant really complain about what theyve done. Thats what we expect from them." Fuld hit just his sixth homer in 738 career plate appearances and singled. Donaldson had a two-run homer and an RBI single for the Athletics (6-3). Mike Pelfrey (0-2) gave up six runs on nine hits and four walks in five innings. The Twins have had only one quality start in their first nine games. Brian Dozier hit his third home run of the season for Minnesota. Straily was selected in the 24th round of the 2009 draft, just another in the seemingly endless line of young, strong starting pitchers churned out by Billy Beanes Moneyball machine. Last year he led all AL rookies in starts, innings and strikeouts, and he brushed off the early homer to Dozier to slow down the Twins for the rest of the game. He allowed two baserunners -- both on walks -- over his final five innings "It wasnt his best velocity," manager Bob Melvin said. "He was throwing basically 87 mph today. But hes always got that slider in his pocket. He threw a few more changeups today and a few more curveballs, so he kept them off balance more than he typically pitches." Pelfrey had no such luck, labouring through another poor outing for Minnesotas starting rotation. Donaldsons homer in the third inning put him behind 3-1 and he walked No. 9 hitter Nick Punto in the fourth before Fuld yanked a pitch just over the wall in right field for a 5-1 lead. "I think all the way around, I was terrible today," Pelfrey said. The cushion allowed the As to avoid a save situation on the same day Melvin demoted struggling closer Jim Johnson, who is 0-2 with an 18.90 ERA in five appearances this season. The As will go with a closer-by-committee approach while they try to get Johnson straightened out, Melvin said. "Were all pulling for the same thing. Were all in it together," Straily said. "Its just a brotherhood mentality that we have in this clubhouse. Its something special." NOTES: The announced attendance of 20,650 was the smallest in Target Field history. ... It slipped away from the San Antonio Spurs last year, but it would take something special -- historic, actually -- to stop them now. The Miami Heat would have to make the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history. "Theyre the two-time champs, theyre a great team, and there is still one more game," Spurs guard Tony Parker said. "We have to win one more game." Kawhi Leonard had 20 points and 14 rebounds, and the Spurs routed the Heat again, winning 107-86 on Thursday night to open a commanding 3-1 lead. The Spurs can win their fifth NBA championship with a victory at home in Game 5 on Sunday and avenge their seven-game loss to Miami last year. They have three chances, and the way theyre dominating the Heat, they might need just one. "Im pleased that they performed as well as they did while weve been in Miami, and thats about as far as it goes," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. "Now weve got to go back home and play as well or better." LeBron James had 28 points and eight rebounds, but Dwyane Wade was just 1 of 10 through three quarters and finished with 10 points. "They smashed us," James said. "Two straight home games got off to awful starts. They came in and were much better than us in these last two games. Its just that simple." No team has overcome a 3-1 deficit in the finals, and the way the Heat were outclassed twice on their home floor makes it hard to imagine the two-time champions being the first. "We put ourselves in a position where it is about making history," James added. Parker added 19 points, and Tim Duncan had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Spurs, who shot 57 per cent from the field and are hitting 54 per cent in the series. The Spurs lost twice in Miami to end last years finals, their only defeat in the championship round. They won their two games in South Florida this time by a combined 40 points. San Antonios surprising dominance has Miami on its heels, and unless Miami can figure things out quickly, the Heats two-year championship reign will come to an abrupt end. If this was the last home game of the season in Miami, it looked and sounded nothhing like the ones to end the last two years, which featured confetti falling and trophies raised. Swingman Gorgui Dieng Jersey. This one had the unfamiliar sound of boos late in the first half and a chant of "Go Spurs Go!" with under 3 minutes left from the San Antonio fans who remained long after many of Miamis had bolted. A Heat win Sunday would force a Game 6 in Miami Tuesday. The Heat had followed their last 13 post-season losses with a victory, but now at the end of a fourth straight season that has gone the distance, they might be out of gas. Miami seemed to lack the energy -- or maybe effort -- to defend San Antonios precision ball movement for the full 24 seconds, and time after time the Spurs ended up with a shot from somebody who didnt have a defender nearby. Not quite as sharp as when they shot a finals-record 75.8 per cent in the first half Tuesday night, the Spurs were still plenty good enough to open another huge lead by halftime, and they withstood every attempt Miami made to make a run. "We were expecting a reaction from them but we were ready for it, so we just did the same thing," Spurs forward Boris Diaw said. The Spurs knew their defence had to be better, realizing their once-in-a-lifetime, 19-for-21 start in Tuesdays 111-92 Game 3 victory covered the fact that they allowed Miami to make more than 50 per cent in the game. They held Miami to 35 per cent in the first half. "They played great and I can honestly say I dont think any of us were expecting this type of performance," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. San Antonio blew the game open late in the second quarter with seven straight points, capped by Leonards soaring follow dunk that made it 55-33. James, who battled cramps in Game 1, left the court and briefly returned to the locker room midway through the first quarter Thursday. But he had 10 quick points in the third quarter to bring Miami within 13, but San Antonio pushed it to 81-57 after three and never looked back. Notes: Under Popovich, the Spurs have won 15 of the 18 best-of-seven series in which they led 2-1. ... NEW YORK -- Torontos DeMar DeRozan will be joining an elite group of basketball players in New Orleans two weeks from now after being named a reserve for the NBA All-Star game on Wednesday. Wholesale NFL Jerseys China . DeRozan, who missed the Raptors last two games with a sprained ankle, leads the team in scoring with 21.8 points per game. This will be his third appearance at the NBA All-Star weekend -- he participated in the Slam Dunk competition in 2010 and 2011, and also suited up for the 2011 Rookie Challenge -- but this years event will mark his first time in the actual game. The Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets each had two players picked as reserves, while the Indiana Pacers had to settle for just Roy Hibbert despite the leagues best record. LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard made it from the Trail Blazers, who have been among the Western Conference leaders all season. Dwight Howard, who was passed late in fan voting for a starting spot, was chosen Thursday along with Houston teammate James Harden. Old reliables Chris Paul, Tony Parker and Dirk Nowitzki round out the West reserves for the Feb. 16 game in New Orleans. Nowitzki earned his 12th selection, tying him for sixth all-time with nine players. "I have been a part of All-Star weekend every year since I have been in the league and not being there last year felt strange," Nowitzki said in a statement. "The Dallas fan base has always been great to me and the Mavericks organization and the city deserves to be represented at the All-Star game." The rest of the East reserves are: Miamis Chris Bosh, Washingtons John Wall, Brooklyns Joe Johnson, Chicagos Joakim Noah and Atlantas Paul Millsap. Wall is the first Wizards All-Star since Caron Butler and Antawn Jamison were picked in 2008, the last time the game was in New Orleans. "I am very proud to represent the Wizards franchise and the city of Washington as an All-Star and to share this honour with the fans who have supported me and stuck by me since I arrived here," said Wall, the No. 1 pick in the 2010 draft. The Pacers hoped Lance Stephenson, who leads the NBA in triple-doubles, would also be selected to join Hibbert and Paul George, who was voted to start. The reserves were chosen by the coaches from each conference, who had to vote for two guards, three frontcourt players and two regardless of position. They were not allowed to vote for their own players. The West ones went for veterans with their choices at guard in Paul, last years All-Star game MVP from the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Spurs Parker. That left first-time hopefuls Goran Dragic of Phoenix and Mike Conley Jr. of Memphis home. The starters were announced last week: Miamis LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, New Yorks Carmelo Anthony and Clevelands Kyrie Irving were voted to start along with George. The fans voted for NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant of Oklahoma City, the Lakers Kobe Bryant, Golden States Stephen Curry, Minnesotas Kevin Love and the Clippers Blake Griffin. Bryant is injured and not expected to play. Adam Silver, who will become commissioner Saturday, will choose replacements for Bryant and any other injured players. Indianas Frank Vogel and Oklahoma Citys Scott Brooks will coach the game. Brooks would determine who replaces Bryant in the starting lineup. Bosh is an All-Star for the ninth time in 11 seasons, while Lillard, Wall, DeRozan and Millsap were all chosen for their first All-Star game. Millsap was the Eastern Conference player of the week last week. "Paul has been an All-Star player and an All-Star teammate for us," general manager Danny Ferry said. "The Atlanta Hawks are very proud to have Paul representing the city of Atlanta and our team." Hometown hopeful Anthony Davis of the Pelicans, and centres DeAndre Jordan of the Clippers and DeMarcus Cousins of Sacramento were among those who missed out. Orlandos Arron Afflalo and Torontos Kyle Lowry didnt make the cut in the East. China Jerseys Authentic . SAN FRANCISCO - The Washington Nationals will try to force a decisive fifth game in their National League Division Series against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, as they try to stave off elimination once again in Game 4 at AT&T Park. NFL Jerseys China . Washington snapped San Franciscos 10-game postseason winning streak on Monday and stayed alive in this series with a 4-1 win. The Nationals took advantage of Madison Bumgarners throwing error and scored three times in the seventh, while Doug Fister (1-0) took care of business on the mound, scattering four hits over seven scoreless innings. He was in command all day with everything, Nationals manager Matt Williams said of Fister. He just continues to compete for us, and we were able to manufacture something there (in the seventh inning). Bumgarner (1-1) gave up three runs (2 earned) and six hits in seven innings. He also stuck out six and walked a batter. I cant throw the ball away right there, said Bumgarner. Obviously, hindsights 20/20. You get an out (at first) and then you figure you walk Cabrera and theyve got the pitcher or a pinch-hitter coming up. Shouldnt have done it. Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval extended his hitting streak to 14 games in the loss. The stretch now stands one shy of Marquis Grissoms NL record, set from 1995-96. The big league postseason record is 17, shared by Hank Bauer (1956-5, Derek Jeter (1998-99) and Manny Ramirez (2003-04). History remains on the Giants side as of the 46 previous teams who have gone up 2-0 in a Division Series since 1995, only five have lost the series. Of course, the Giants rallied from such a hole two years ago en route to a World Series title. I mentioned it (Sunday) that we just need one break. Its been a tough couple games here to start. And we got our break, Nationals closer Drew Storen said. Getting the call for the Nationals on Tuesday will be lefty Gio Gonzalez, who was one of the best pitchers in baseball down the stretch. After a bout with left shoulder inflammation Gonzalez returned to go 4-1 with a 2.36 ERA over his final seven starts. Overall, though, he was 10-10 with a 3.57 ERA. Gonzalez struggled in the 2012 NLDS, walking 11 batters in 10 innings and pitched to a 4.50 ERA. (Theres) definitely going to be some emotion, Gonzalez said. Theres going to be some excitement. In my career and my time playing, I definitely want to stay as much composed and relaxed as possible. Picking up from other pitchers, thats the beauty about being a pitcher on the side -- watching other peoples emotions and the way they go about it, the way they compete, and just staying low-key and professional as much as possible. Meanwhile, Ryan Vogelsong will try to pitch the Giants to their third NLCS appearance in the last five years. Vogelsong, who will be pitching for the first time in 11 days, was just 8-13 this season with a 4.00 ERA and ended the year on a sour note. The righty was 0-4 in September with a 5.53 ERA. Even at the end of the season, I would be rolling along in the game and then just kind of lose it, Vogelsong said of his September struggles. So, I mean, its there. I just need to be more focused at times and more concentrated on making a good pitch. Those will be the things that are on the forefront of my mind. Vogelsong has faced the Nats nine times (5 starts) and is 1-2 against them with a 6.16 ERA. The Nats had their way with the Giants in the regular season, taking five out of seven games. MIAMI -- It was arguably the signature moment of Alonzo Mournings career. Nike Roshe One Flyknit Womens . He blocked a shot in the final minutes of Game 6 of the 2006 NBA Finals, then wriggled on the floor in what appeared to be celebration for a few seconds. Turns out, it was anger. Mourning was unimpressed by his chase-down block of Dallas Jason Terry with 8:55 left in the game where the Miami Heat would clinch their first NBA title. Instead, his memorable air-punching, arms-flailing reaction was borne from how Heat teammate Gary Payton had thrown the ball away seconds earlier and then argued with a referee at such a critical moment in the game. His fire was on full display in that moment. And it was that fire that led him to the Basketball Hall of Fame "So I had to sprint back to try to cover his butt for making that mistake, and I was mad," Mourning said. "Then I got up and I was like, Gary, what are you doing, man? Oh, I was mad. Maybe like two people really know why I was acting that way. The thing is, I was cursing Gary out. Thats what happened." After a career where he averaged 17.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocked shots, the 6-foot-10 Mourning will be part of the class enshrined in Springfield, Massachusetts on Friday night, when the surest bet in sports will be that his speech will exceed the 10-minute recommendation he was given for his remarks. "I think I deserve it," Mourning said, laughing. Few would disagree. He was a seven-time All-Star, is one of only eight players to win the defensive player of the year award at least twice, an Olympic gold medallist and has already had his No. 33 jersey retired by the Heat in a star-studded ceremony that went way longer than planned, slightly raising the ire of an Orlando Magic team that wasnt planning on a never-ending halftime that night in 2009. "He had to be the first one to have his jersey retired by this franchise," Heat President Pat Riley said. "He earned that, many times over." But Mournings story is more about the journey than any statistic or award. He was raised by a foster mother who took him and 48 other kids into her home. From there, Mourning became a star at Georgetown, then an NBA icon who couldnt even be derailed by a kidney disease that necessitated a transplant while still in the prime of his career, and finally a champion with the Heat. "You dont think about going to the Hall of Fame. Its your reward," Mourning said. "This was the last thing on my mind. I had an amazing career. The journey was spectacular for me, personally. If no one else saw it that way, then so be it." Mourning, 44, will be presented by John Thompson, his coach at Georgetown, and Riley, his coach with the Heat. Thompson and Riley are two of the people who Mourning credits most for making him what he is. The other is Fannie Threet, the foster mother who died last year at the age of 98 and the person who Mourning speaks with more reverence for than anyone else. Thompson, Riley and the woman he still calls "Miss Threet" might seem like three wildly different people, but Mourning sees parallels in them all -- mainly discipline, devotion and a balance between toughness and compassion. Add them up, you get Mourning, who plans to spend his speech thanking just about everyone he can remember. "Its the pinnacle of the sport," Mourning said. "And outside of the birth of my children and winning a championship, its the pinnacle of it all." Nike Roshe Run Dyn Fw . Haas and Jacobsen played nine holes of alternate shot and nine of better ball at Top of the Rock, the first par-3 course used in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event, after opening with a better-ball 62 on Friday on the regulation Buffalo Ridge layout. They had a 15-under 110 total. "Weve known each other since college days," Haas said. "And if you know Peter, youre a friend of Peters. Weve played on Ryder Cup teams before and just know each other. Our wives know each other." They were 1 under in the alternate-shot nine. "We talked about it walking down the first hole, the morning format, the alternate shot," Jacobsen said. "I turned to Jay and said, Im nervous. I havent been this nervous in a long time. It takes us back to Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup days when the alternate shot is the most difficult. You feel like youre on an island. Youre playing for yourself and also youre playing for your partner, so you dont want to leave your partner in a bad position." Jeff Sluman and Fred Funk were second after a 50 on the par-3 course, the site of the final round Sunday. "I think both of us not only embrace the golf course and the concept of a par 3, but we embrace the format change from last year," said Sluman, the winner last year with Brad Faxon in Savannah, Georgia. Colbert and Thorpe had a 2-under 52 on the par-3 course, and Fleisher and Nelson shot 56. "It was very difficult starting out where you had alternate shots," Fleisher said. "I thought it would have been a lot easier the other way around if we got a little bit of feel of the golf course. Larrys a great partner, Im kind of trying to tag along this week." Craig Stadler and Kirk Triplett were third in the Champions Division, shooting a 64 at Buffalo Ridge. The teams of Tom Watson-Andy North and Tom Pernice Jr.-Bob Tway were tied for fourth at 11 under after rounds on the regulation course. Watson and North had a 65, and Pernice and Tway shot 64. "Who knows what the weathers going to be tomorrow," North said. "Were fortunate to get done today, but man, the wind blew. Some of those holes played so hard. When youre hitting woods into these par 3s, theyre pretty difficult. Its going to be fun to get over there." Pernice won the Principal Charity Classic last week in Iowa for his third senior title. In the Legends Division, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player had a 66 at Buffalo Ridge to move into a tie for third with Butch Baird and Al Geiberger at 4 under. Baird and Geiberger had a 54 on the par-3 course. "Id say Gary played very well," Nicklaus said. "I was all right the front nine. It was all Gary the back nine, thank goodness, because I wasnt very good. Ill have to say that Gary made some putts when he needed to make some putts and I couldnt make the putts when I needed to make the putts. COMMERCE CITY, Colo. Nike Roshe One Slip On Black . -- Carlos Pavon scored the second of his two goals in the 33rd minute and Real Espana topped the Colorado Rapids 2-1 in a Group B CONCACAF Champions League match Wednesday night. Pavon broke free after gaining control of the ball at midfield for the deciding goal. He also scored in the 13th minute for Real Espana of Honduras (1-2-1). "Carlos means so much to this team," Real Espana coach Mario Zanabria. "He brings a lot experience and a lot of presence in front of the goal." Goalkeeper Marcelo Macias made several saves in added time to preserve the win. "That is a very difficult Rapids team to play because they have such big, strong forwards," Zanabria said. "But in the end we performed very well in front of the goal." Andre Akpan scored for Colorado. The Rapids have lost two consecutive home games in the tournament. Goalkeeper Steward Ceus has started ahead of regular goalkeeper Matt Pickens in all four games. "It was very disappointing," Colorado coach Gary Smith said. "I thought we had enough chances to be in this game." The teams played to a 1-1 tie on Aug. 23 in Honduras. Ceus set up Pavons first goal when he inadvertently sent a clearing kick directly out of bounds. Real Espana took possession of the ball and it found its way to Allan Lalin along the sideline. Lalin sent a cross to Pavon alone in the slot. The captain settled the ball down and sent a shoulder high drive past Ceus in the 13th minute. "It was critical for us to get that goal," Zanabria said. Colorado tied it at 1-1 in the 18th minute. A cross from Macoumba Kandji was deflected and uncovered by Macias. Akpan got possession of the loose ball 10 yards out and Macias could only wave at the low ball. Akpan hit the right post for the Rapids in the 29th minute. Real Espana regained the lead at 2-1 in the 33rd minute on Pavons second goal of the night. Pavon outmanoeuvred Colorado defender Kosuke Kimura near midfield, moved just outside the scoring box and beat Ceus with a low drive. "Those two plays were the difference in us trailing and us being either tied or ahead," Smith said. "Andres shot off the post and the mistake we made on their second goal." Neither team threatened in the second half until the 54th minute when Colorado was awarded a free kick. Macias caught the kick of Kandji with both hands. The Rapids stepped up the pressure and Jamie Smith was able to get off a shot on goal after stealing the ball. But Macias made a diving save in the 67th minute. Macias took control in the added time at the end. He caught a header by Omar Cummings and came well out of his crease to deny Jamie Smiths shot off a free kick. Nike Roshe One NM BR . The two-time former Formula One champion downplayed his third-place finish three weeks ago in China and said progress is going slow for Ferrari as it tries to make up ground on Mercedes. http://www.cheapnikeroshenz.org/nike-roshe-one-nz.html .Y. -- Phil Jackson lost out on his preferred coach, but hes working hard on keeping his star player.TORONTO - Momentum is a tricky thing in this league, one day you have it and the next you dont. Seven days ago the Toronto Raptors (22-36) were feeling good about themselves and their chances at making a late-season playoff run after defeating the Knicks for the second time during a red-hot stretch in which they accumulated seven wins in 10 games. On Friday it became clear that their fortunes have turned once again following a third straight defeat, this one at the hands of the Indiana Pacers (37-22), 93-81 at the Air Canada Centre. "It was a gritty game, a grind-it-down game," said Raptors forward Rudy Gay, who led the team with 21 points despite struggling from the field. "Both teams forced people to take tough shots they just made a lot more than we did. They also made a lot more easy shots. They made it easy for themselves." With 49 combined fouls called, 33 turnovers committed and some questionable shot selection on both ends, the game was indeed a choppy one. Gay shot just 7-for-16, frustrated by Indianas aggressive defensive attack but also fighting through back spasms that began to slow him down in the first half. "Im trying to play through it," Gay admitted, "because right now [is] not the time to sit out. [Im] just trying to play through it and do as much as I can for the team. I just dont want to be in the teams way." Despite experiencing some recent success against the Central Division-leading Pacers -- winning their last two in Indiana -- the Raptors offence was lulled to sleep early in the game, quickly determining their fate in another low-scoring affair between these clubs. Their defence was able to keep them in it until the second half when the Pacers began to do what they do best; attack the rim and pound the glass. Coming off a pair of disheartening losses to a couple of sub .500 squads in the Wizards and Cavaliers, Toronto now watches its once-salvageable season slip away. "Its not easy to lose," Gay said, frustrated as the team fell to 7-6 since trading for him at the end of January. "Especially right now, its not easy to lose. Theyre a great defensive team but to be one of the elite [teams] you have to be disciplined and do what we do everyday. So for that, I think they deserved to beat us." Fast Breaking Points - Pacers Controlled the Pace The games methodical, half-court tempo is one that immediately favoured the defensively superior Pacers. Although Indiana controlled the pace from the start, and especially in the second half, the Raptors didnt do much to take the visiting team out of their comfort zone. Prior to the contest coach Dwane Casey had hopes of pushing the tempo and moving the ball but this was not the case as his team played right into Indianas hands, frequently attacking Paul George and Lance Stephenson -- both plus perimeter defenders -- on isolation sets. Both Gay and DeMar DeRozan -- who finished with nine points following a scoreless second half -- were out of rhythm and seemed to be forcing their games at the expense of a cohesive offence, one that totalled just 12 assists. Despite 20 Pacers turnovers, the Raptors were unable to get out and run -- totalling eight fast-break points, six of which came in garbage time -- and the team couldnt (or wouldnt) move the ball once they were forced to run their half-court sets. "Everythings got to be with force. Everythings got to be catch and go, catch and move. And weve got to get better ball movement. Right now the ball is sticking. Right, wrong or indifferent weve got some guys playing at high level offensively but weve got to get it to them off of movement."-- Casey Coming off a 34-point performance in Cleveland on Wednesday, DeRozan struggled with his shot despite his continued aggressive play. "We couldnt score and we couldnt get stops," a subdued DeRozan said after shooting just 2-for-10 from the field and 5-of-10 from the line. "Thats all on us." - Sloppy Start Both teams came out flat, limping their way out of the gate offensively -- on par with the recent history between these teams. The Raptors were noticeably rusty, waiting until the nine-minute mark and missing their first four shots before getting on the board with a Jonas Valanciunas free throw. Toronto shot a paltry 18 per cent in the frame and was held to a season-low 13 first-quarter points. The sluggish play carried over into the second quarter as the two teams were called for 24 fouls combined and committed 16 turnovers with both clubs shooting under 40 per cent in the opening half. However, Toronto was able to hang around -- down only five at the half -- thanks to a Pacers offensive that was nearly as inefficient. On top of the back spasms that may have limited him, the Pacers had Gay blanketed throughout most of the game, forcing him to make plays out of the double team and take tough mid-range jumpers. "They start[ed] keying in on him," Casey said of Gay, who committed four turnovers in the game. "They didd a good job of sending quick help to him. Nike Roshe Run Hi Pink. But weve got to do a better job of getting it to him and DeMar on the weak side, that way the defence is softer." - Battle on the Boards, Second Half Skid Known for their size and physical brand of basketball, the Pacers entered the game as the NBAs best at rebounding the ball (45.8 per contest) while the Raptors ranked 28th in that category (39.9). Although the Raptors have held their own on the boards against the Pacers this season -- even out-rebounding them in the February 8th meeting, a 100-98 overtime victory for Toronto -- they were outmuscled on Friday, specifically during a second half run that put the game out of reach. The Raptors actually had the rebounding advantage at halftime, one of the reasons they were able to stick around despite their poor shooting, but Indiana bested them by 14 on the boards in the final 24 minutes. The Pacers also held a 10-point second-half advantage in the paint thanks in large part to the dominance of Roy Hibbert and David West, who scored eight points apiece during a third quarter that saw Indiana shoot 63 per cent from the floor. George added seven points in that period and scored 17 of his game-high 22 in the second half. Coming off a scoreless outing in Cleveland, Andrea Bargnani did an adequate job -- at times -- manning up with West. "Theyve got one of the best front courts in the league and I think he did a pretty good job defensively," Gay said of Bargnani. "It wouldnt be easy for a lot of people. He fought with them and I commend him for that." Hearing boos from the crowd once again, the Raptors forward scored eight points in 32 minutes -- the most hes logged since returning from injury last month -- but failed to grab a rebound in his time on the floor. While Amir Johnson was saddled with foul trouble, Bargnani and Valanciunas were forced to take on the bigger, stronger and more experienced Pacers frontcourt. Not surprisingly they were simply outmatched. The Pacers opened up a 13-point lead in the third quarter and extended it to as much as 19 midway through the fourth before Casey pulled his starters with Saturday nights game in mind. Torontos garbage-time crew kept things interesting for the fans -- as much as they possibly could at that points -- as rookie and sparingly used Quincy Acy threw down a couple of vicious slams and Alan Anderson scored 12 of his 14. Acy finished with six points and four fouls in five spirited minutes. Notables and Quotables The Raptors and Pacers split their season series at two games apiece with the road team winning in each of their four meetings. ... Pacers forward Danny Granger did not play in the second half as the team opted to rest him in his fourth game back from a knee injury that kept him out of 55 contests this season. Granger came off the bench to score eight points in nine first-half minutes before taking the rest of the night off. "You are talking about one of the best defensive teams in the league. That is the level we have to get ready for. We have to develop that mentality. That is playoff basketball. We have to be able to execute against that type of basketball and that type of physically. Everything has to be with force."-- Casey "Its not that our guys are not competing its just understanding how [weve] got to do it and the physicality and the force weve got to do it with."-- Casey Up Next The Raptors open a four-game road trip in Milwaukee on the second night of a back-to-back Saturday night, a must-win if they hope to keep their playoff aspirations alive. Toronto sits 6.5 games behind the eighth-seeded Bucks for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference going into a crucial meeting on Saturday -- 8:30 PM tip on TSN2. Glenn Dorsey 49ers Jersey .com) - The Winnipeg Jets have thrived under Paul Maurice despite injury limiting Evander Kane to just four games under the new head coach.Kane is expected to return to the lineup on Thursday night when the Jets face the Phoenix Coyotes.Winnipeg has gone 9-3-1 in 13 games since replacing Claude Noel with Maurice, who made his coaching debut with the club in a 5-1 win over the Coyotes on Jan. 13. Ondrej Pavelec made 18 saves and the Jets got goals from five different players to beat the Coyotes for a second straight time following a six-game series losing streak. The Jets have also won both of their meetings at home versus the Coyotes since relocating from Atlanta.Coincidentally, the Coyotes franchise used to call Winnipeg home before moving to Phoenix prior to the 1996-97 season. The current Jets have endured just one losing streak under Noel, a current two-game slide that includes a shootout setback to St. Louis in the final game before the Olympic break.Kane missed the last six games with a hand infection and has been limited to just four games since Jan. 7 due to injury. He has 15 goals and 29 points in 42 games this season. The fourth overall pick of the 2009 draft is likely to skate on a line tonight with Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele.I want him to play his game in our framework, Maurice said of what he wants to see out of Kane. Thats what Im asking from everybody. Keep the individual things that make you special, just fly in formation, especially when we dont have the puck. The Jets come in with 62 points, two fewer than the Coyotes, who trail the Vancouver Canucks by just one point for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. Phoenix also is six points behind Los Angeles for third place in the Pacific Division.Consistency has been an issue for the Coyotes, who lost their final game before the Olympic break and are 4-5-1 since last winning back-to-back games on Jan. 16 and 18.Phoenix returns five players to its roster who competed in the Sochi Olympics, including goaltender Mike Smith, who won a gold medal with Team Canada even though he did not get into a game during the tournament.I knew going over there that thered be a good possibility that I wouldnt get into a game, Smith told Phoenixs website. SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants manager Bruce Bochy expected good things from Tim Hudson. Swingman JJ Redick Jersey . Hes getting even better results than he anticipated. Hudson threw seven strong innings and left with a major league-best 1.81 ERA as San Francisco avoided a four-game sweep, beating the Washington Nationals 7-1 on Thursday. "Ive always admired him from the other side, how well he competes," Bochy said. "I felt we were getting a front-line pitcher who will give us a chance to win on a consistent basis. Hes done all weve expected and even more." Michael Morse got three hits and scored twice for the Giants, who had a five-game winning streak before Washington came to town. The Nationals have lost just twice in 10 games. "Its not much fun playing the fourth game of a series trying not to get swept," Bochy said. "The guys did a good job of forgetting the first three games and went out and played well." Hudson (7-2) allowed one unearned run and six hits. He walked two, struck out five and improved to 3-0 in his last five starts, which includes a suspended game. The Giants are 7-0 in games Hudson has started at home. "We played good defence to keep me out of some jams," Hudson said. Blake Treinen (0-3) remained winless at the major league level despite a 2.08 ERA. "I just try to go out there and give us a chance to win," Hudson said. "It doesnt matter than we lost three in a row or won three in a row. I feel like I put forth the same effort every time. When you have lost three straight to the same team theres more urgency behind it." Treinen, who replaced the injured Gio Gonzalez in the starting rotation, has pitched against tough competition. The four starters hes faced have combined for 14 opening day starts. "Hes done well and is working hard at every aspect of the game," Nationals manager Matt Williams said. "He has that power slider, which is his go-to pitch. Working on the development of his other pitches is what is important." The Giants scored twice in the second. San Francisco added two more in the sixth on a balk by reliever Craig Stammen and an RBI single by pinch-hitter Gregor Blanco.
