Shelly Sterling struck a deal to sell the team to Ballmer in May after Donald Sterlings racist remarks to a girlfriend were publicized and the NBA moved to oust him as an owner. She had two doctors examine her husband and they declared that he was mentally incapacitated and unable to act as an administrator of The Sterling Family Trust, which owns the Clippers. The terms of the trust say incapacitation can be determined by two licensed doctors without ties to the family who are specialists in their field. In court filings, Donald Sterlings attorneys argued that he submitted to medical examination under false pretenses, there was undue influence in the doctors findings, and that the examination and letters regarding his mental capacity were defective and incomplete. "There was no duping," Shelly Sterlings attorney Pierce ODonnell said Monday. Donald Sterlling voluntarily went to Cedars Sinai Imaging Center to get scans of his brain and there was no requirement to remind Donald Sterling, who is an attorney, or his legal team of the trusts conditions, ODonnell wrote in court filings. The 29-year-old is scheduled to be Pittsburghs second-highest paid player next season behind quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, with a salary cap hit of $13.59 million. Considering the teams significant cap issues, the emergence of Worilds and rookie Jarvis Jones and Woodleys spotty healthy history, he could be expendable by the summer. Its a path that seemed unthinkable three years ago. Woodley appeared to be the next great Steelers linebacker after racking up 35 sacks from 2008-10, helping lead Pittsburgh two a pair of AFC championships and one Super Bowl title. The day he signed his extension in 2011, Woodley talked at length about wanting "to leave my stamp when Im done playing here." His work is only half finished. Woodley hasnt played a full 16-game schedule since 2010. He missed six games in 2011 and three more in 2012 with hamstring issues. He appeared back to his usual self early this season, recording a sack in four straight games at one point. It all changed during a 23-10 win over Buffalo last month, when he tweaked his left calf. Despite saying repeatedly he felt optimistic about his chances, he spent three weeks on the sideline watching Worilds flourish in his absence. Considered on the way out after the Steelers chose Jones in the first round of last Aprils draft, Worilds instead has blossomed. Following a slow start, he played so well the Steelers decided to make Jones a role player while giving Worilds the bulk of the playing time at right outside linebacker. Worilds moved to the left side, where he played in college, after Woodley went down and his production has skyrocketed. Worilds leads the Steelers with 7.0 sacks and has evolved into more than just a pass rush specialist. When Woodley returned against Miami two weeks ago, the Steelers actually moved him to the right side for the first time in his career so Worilds could continue to work on the left side. Though he will be a free agent after the season, Worilds wont come close to commanding the kind of money Woodley will be due if Woodley stays on the roster in 2014. Throw in the teams significant investment in Jones and Woodley could be part of a sizable roster makeover in the off-season if the Steelers miss the playoffs for the second straight year. While Tomlin agreed Jones needs to work on his upper body strength to deal with left tackles who outweigh him by 50 pounds or more, Tomlin is pleased with Jones progress. "Theres not many outside of us who believe we had a chance, but we did and I think we showed what UCF football is all about," Bortles said. Central Florida (12-1) wasnt given much of a chance at all, entering the game as a 17-point underdog. The Knights didnt care about the spread and certainly didnt back down from the big, bad Bears, racing past Baylor with an array of big plays. They took an early 14-point lead and kept rolling, piling up 556 total yards in the second-highest scoring BCS bowl ever. Bortles, the junior who could be weighing a jump to the NFL, was the catalyst, throwing for three touchdowns on 20-of-31 passing and running for 93 yards and another score. ANDREW WIGGINS (Kansas): This young man has incredible talent and upside with explosivity and skill to spare. Wiggins has terrific feel for the game and can make all the plays. His strength and stamina have been an issue on occasion, but he plays better when challenged. Wiggins has to play with a more consistent motor, but thats expected for such a young guy, whos handled all the hoopla of his frosh year quite well. Hell set the tone for how far his team goes. 2. TYLER ENNIS (Syracuse): Ennis is an intelligent and steady point guard, who makes all the high percentage decisions for you. He plays at a controlled speed and has excellent vision and feel for the game. His poise and composure under pressure is off the charts. Ennis changes speeds well and knows how to make others better with remarkable maturity and leadership ability for a frosh. Hes got to exert his will earlier in games here in the Tournament and get his team going and set the tone. Ennis is truly the straw that stirs the drink for the Cuse. 3. NIK STAUSKAS (Michigan): There are major improvements in Stauskass strength and overall savvy from last season. He can really stroke it and plays with energy and emotion consistently and is an excellent screen-usage guy and knows how to get open. The elevation on his jump shot is terrific and his handle has gotten better, allowing him to create for himself and teammates. Stauskas is coming on strong. 4. MELVIN EJIM (Iowa State): Heres an intriguing guy. Ejims a very good athlete who has good compete level and I love how hes able to finish on the break and play the game inside and out. Ejim attacks the basket hard and I love his energy. Hes gotten better every year, which is a testament to his work ethic and love for the game. Hes a beast on the glass and has really improved his three-point-shooting stroke. Ejims stock is really rising. 5. KEVIN PANGOS (Gonzaga): Pangos is a shooter with deep range and a guy who can get on a roll if you leave him open. Hes a gym rat who gets after it for you. Pangos isnt the biggest guy, yet plays as hard as you can ask and creates his shot well and has a knack for freeing himself up in the five-on-five game and you better not leave him open in transition. Pangos moves his feet and fights through screens on the defensive end and relishes the challenge of getting stops. Hes steady and reliable in every situation. In short, Pangos is a winner. BALTIMORE -- Detroits Justin Verlander wasnt overly concerned with his less-than-stellar outing against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Derek Rivers Patriots Jersey . Joe Nathan pitched a scoreless ninth for his 10th save. He hasnt allowed a run in six straight appearances. Kevin Gausman (0-1) was making his first start for the Orioles since June 13, 2013, and lasted just four innings. He allowed five runs on six hits with two strikeouts, two walks and a wild pitch. "Obviously, I wasnt too thrilled with it," Gausman said. "I thought I did some good things early on, keeping down in the count. As the game progressed, my fastball started going up in the zone." Detroit opened a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-out, two-RBI single by Miguel Cabrera. He is batting .391 with 53 RBIs in 51 career games against Baltimore. The Tigers extended the lead to 5-0 in the fourth with some aggressive base running and timely hitting. After a double steal, Bryan Holiday had an RBI single and Danny Worth followed with a drag bunt up the first base line for another run. Instead, with Welbeck scoring two goals for England against Switzerland in Euro 2016 qualifying, much of the debate was around the player himself and not necessarily about Arsenals ambitions. With nothing else to sink their teeth into, the media went to town on it. It was almost as if it had been planned. Forced to fill pages upon pages of content when little action on the field was taking place, the recent international window was just as frustrating for newspaper editors. It tells you something about a player when the same newspaper gets two of its major columnists take opposite sides of Welbecks potential. The truth is, no one quite knows what Welbeck will become. Even those who believe he should not have been sold used his move to concentrate on a bigger issue of Manchester Uniteds decision to sell an English player to a rival and a change in their own transfer policies. Gary Neville, and his former teammate and assistant coach Mike Phelan, publicly questioned the sale for United and they werent the only ones who concerned themselves about United losing their identity as a club who famously produced players to become difference makers at the top level. The truth is, United have regularly produced good players who havent been good enough for them when they have reached their peak and were then sold on to have decent careers elsewhere. Their commitment to young British talent is admirable, but the development of Aaron Ramsey came at a crucial time for Arsene Wenger, who has been accused of not being the best coach to nurture and improve young players. Even those who think he can develop these players should be wondering just how many of these kind of players should be starting for Arsenal? The Gunners already have Calum Chambers, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere, all promising young English players who have shown great promise, but who are also inconsistent and do not regularly show repeatedly high standards that Premier League contenders require. The same can be said about Welbeck, up to now. According to Opta, Welbeck converts 25 per cent of his scoring chances in the Premier League, the same as Daniel Sturridge and the case of the Liverpool striker has been referred to often recently by people who believe Welbeck will thrive now he has more chances to play. Any striker should dream about playing with magicians like Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil and it is clear that Welbeck will be given all the things he needs to succeed as the main frontman for Wenger, up until, at least, Giroud returns. He has good movement, is intelligent, works hard and links up well with others - all characteristics that Wenger admires, but the biggest question mark is over his finishing ability. It is another question mark to add to Arsenal, a team, in recent years, that has only flirted with the notion of being title contenders and have only come close to winning it once in the last ten seasons. Wenger was quick to respond to critics last season following the 1-1 home draw to Manchester City, claiming, “We are not as bad as people think or say we are.” The Frenchman might take people to task about their opinions, but he cannot argue against the fact that last season they played ten games against Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United and won just once. Until they can win a monumental match against a better team than them, then they are what many people think they are. Last season they played three super powers in the Premier League, all in early 12:45pm local kick-offs, and were destroyed 6-3 at Manchester City, 5-1 at Liverpool and 6-0 at Chelsea. This time, the early kick-off comes with the comforts of home where Wenger will not be able to say his team didnt have "focus, the right mentality, concentration or belief" like he repeatedly suggested in the three heavy defeats last season. City, losers of their previous match against Stoke, present a massive challenge for the Gunners and one that Wenger realistically knows his team cannot match over a 38 match season. That doesnt mean they cannot match and beat them over 90 minutes. Right now, though, Arsenal have a lot of good qualities, but rarely put it all together because they have the same reoccurring issues. Much like their newest signing. Together, for the first time, they will get the hardest examinations of all against the champions of England on Saturday.
