SEATTLE -- Felix Hernandez took a shutout into the eighth inning, Mike Zunino and Brad Miller both homered and the Seattle Mariners held on for a 6-4 win over the Oakland Athletics on Friday night. Elgton Jenkins Youth Jersey . Hernandez (3-0) struck out 11 and shut down Oakland for the second time in a week, becoming the first Mariners pitcher to win three times in the first nine games of a season. With the usual "Kings Court" for Hernandez home starts expanded to a "Supreme Court" encompassing the entire stadium with yellow shirts and "K" cards, Hernandez gave up four hits in the 28th double-digit strikeout game of his career. Zunino chased starter Tommy Milone (0-1) with a two-run shot in the sixth. Miller followed two batters later with a solo homer to centre field with the wind blowing in. Hernandez was charged with two runs and walked none. He has 30 strikeouts against two walks in his three starts. Hernandezs first home start of 2014 was his best performance in the young season. All three of Oaklands four hits off Hernandez came in the span of five batters in the fourth and fifth. Jed Lowries one-out single in the fourth was Oaklands first hit, and Josh Donaldson followed with an infield single. Hernandez pitched out of the jam with strikeouts of Brandon Moss and Yoenis Cespedes. Alberto Callaspo doubled to lead off the fifth and advanced to third on Robinson Canos two-out error at second base. Hernandez struck out Sam Fuld looking to end the inning. Hernandez struck out the side in the seventh, but Daric Barton was hit on the foot by a curveball and Eric Sogard singled to open the eighth. That was it for Hernandez, and Seattles bullpen was shaky. Lucas Luetge walked his only batter. Danny Farquhar walked Lowrie on a 3-2 pitch to score Barton. Brandon Moss added a broken-bat single off Charlie Furbush for the second run charged to Hernandez, and Cespedes beat out a potential double play to score another. Furbush threw a wild pitch that Fuld scored on to cut the deficit to 6-4, but Callaspo popped out to end the rally. Fernando Rodney pitched the ninth for his third save. The Mariners needed only three pitches to get to Milone, who was making his first start of the season after postponements caused his turn to be skipped. Abraham Almonte doubled on the first pitch of the game, Miller followed with a bunt single and Canos infield hit gave Seattle a 1-0 lead. Seattle appeared to add another in the fourth when Kyle Seager was ruled to have hit a solo homer down the right field line. The play was reviewed by umpires and the ball was called foul. But Seattle scored twice in the inning when Donaldson and Lowrie committed two-out errors after Dustin Ackleys double. Milone gave up 10 hits and three earned runs in his season debut. NOTES: Oakland OF Coco Crisp did not start for the fourth straight game due to a sore wrist. He pinch-hit in the ninth. ... The As will likely activate OF Craig Gentry from the disabled list Saturday, manager Bob Melvin said. ... Ackley became the first Seattle batter with three hits in a game this season. ... Seattle is still unsure of its starter for Tuesday in Texas. Manager Lloyd McClendon expected a decision before Saturdays game. Likely options are RHP Blake Beavan coming up from Triple-A or RHP Taijuan Walker being activated from the DL. Dave Robinson Womens Jersey . -- Zach Johnson is like most players at the World Challenge, not sure whether hes still playing in 2013 or if hes in the middle of the new wraparound season that officially started in October. Darnell Savage Jr. Packers Jersey . Raonic, the mens No. 8 seed from Thornhill, Ont., needed more than three hours to overcome Frenchman Gilles Simon 4-6, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 and become the first Canadian man into the fourth round at Roland Garros. http://www.shoptheofficialpackers.com/Elite-Brett-Favre-Packers-Jersey/ . Radulov scored the lone goal in the shootout, and the Predators edged the Minnesota Wild 2-1 on Tuesday night to reach 100 points for the second time in three seasons and fourth in seven.BOSTON -- A few relaxing words from David Ortiz helped get Rubby De La Rosa in the right frame of mind for his first start in nearly three years. De La Rosa pitched seven shutout innings, Brock Holt hit his first career homer and the Boston Red Sox won their sixth straight with a 7-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday night. The teams kept it clean a day after having their second benches-clearing scrum in less than a week. Taking the mound for a tense start after the teams cleared the benches in their last two meetings, De La Rosa heard all he needed from Big Papi. "David told me whatever happened last night, just focus on pitching," said De La Rosa, who allowed four hits and struck out eight without issuing a walk in his first start since July 31, 2011, when he was with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Holt and Jackie Bradley Jr. each hit two-run homers, and Jonathan Herrera had three singles as the Red Sox continued to rebound from a recent 10-game losing streak. There was no carry-over from Friday nights game, when three Red Sox managers and a pitcher were ejected after Rays starter David Price hit Ortiz in the first inning and Mike Carp in the fourth. "No pregame warnings," Boston manager John Farrell said. "We met with the umpiring crew before the game, just had a chance to talk about a couple of things. That was it." De La Rosa (1-0), recalled earlier in the day from Triple-A Pawtucket, made his first start for the Red Sox. "He showed four pitches for strikes," Farrell said. "Given the environment, given what we went through last night, he was outstanding." The 25-year old right-hander was acquired in Bostons salary-dump deal in August 2012 that sent Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez to the Dodgers. Rays first baseman James Loney, who also came over in the deal with De La Rosa, remembered the talent the righty showed. "Yeah. hes always had an electric arm and wants to be out there, a good competitor," he said. "Hes probably what, mid 20s? Back then, he was a good pitcher and you knew he was going to be good. Dexter Williams Jersey. " Kevin Kiermaier had an inside the park homer for the Rays, who have lost five straight. It came when Bradley Jr. attempted a leaping grab and the ball caromed off the Green Monster, off his face and rolled away as he was down on the ground. Rays manager Joe Maddon was happy the teams didnt follow Fridays hard feelings with any nastiness. "It was really nice to go out there and not be concerned with a bunch of garbage and just play the game," he said. "I was pleased with that a lot. I thought it was a well-played game." Last Sunday at Tropicana Field, the clubs had a scrum after the Red Sox were yelling from the dugout when Yunel Escobar stole third with the Rays holding a big lead. Rays starter Jake Odorizzi (2-5) lasted just 3 1-3 innings, giving up five runs and six hits with two wild pitches. The Red Sox grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third when Holt homered in Bostons bullpen after Herrera singled. Carp added a sacrifice fly. Boston added two more in the fourth and chased Odorizzi. Herrera dropped down a safety squeeze, and was credited with a hit, when Grady Sizemore slid in just under the throw, making it 4-0. A.J. Pierzynski added an RBI single. Bradley Jr.s two-run homer made it 7-0 in the fifth. NOTES: Boston second baseman Dustin Pedroia was out with a sore right hand. He was hurt on a swing in Friday. He had an MRI and the results showed "no further or structural damage." ... Rays RF Wil Myers and SS Escobar were also out with injuries. Myers hurt his right hand in a fall when he tumbled over CF Desmond Jennings as the pair collided on Pierzynskis game-ending triple on Friday. Escobar injured his quad running out a grounder Friday, but Maddon said he should be back "(Sunday) or Monday at the worst." ... Red Sox LHP Jon Lester (5-6, 3.45 ERA) faces LHP Erik Bedard (2-3, 4.10) in the series finale on Sunday. ... To make room for De La Rosa, the Red Sox optioned OF/1B Daniel Nava to Pawtucket. Donte Jackson Panthers Jersey . Canada (5-2) is tied with Korea, Switzerland and Russia for top spot. Canada finished the round-robin Sunday with games against Scotland (2-5) and Denmark (0-7). In mens action, Winnipegs Braden Calvert earned two wins, including a 6-5 decision over previously unbeaten Norway. "I guess well take the win after a game like that," said Calvert. "We got off to a bad start. I threw a really bad rock in five and we had to come back from that. "Luckily, we did and we pulled through." Canada gave up consecutive steals to tail 3-0 at the break. But Calverts rink rallied in the sixth as she made a tricky angle-raise double to score two. He followed that up with a steal of two in the seventh to go ahead. "That was huge in terms of the momentum we got from that shot," Calvert said of the sixth. "We gained a lot of confidence and basically got back at them." Canada also beat Switzerland 7-2 to improve its record to 4-3, leaving it in a three-way tie for third. "Were starting to get on a bit of a roll," said Calvert. "Were starting to gain some momentum and confidence. "We were really sharp out of the gate tonight and grabbed an early deuce. That was definitely the turning point in the game and we kept fighting and were able to pull it off. All the teams here are tough and each game is going to be a battle." Canada finishes the round-robin Sunday with games against the United States (2-5) and Austria (3-4). Christian Miller Panthers Jersey . Louis Cardinals a hard-fought victory. Stamkos scored the deciding goal in the tiebreaker to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers. Valtteri Filppula also scored in the shootout. Stamkos was just 5 for 27 in the shootout coming into the game, but he made some nice moves to slip the puck past Jacob Markstrom on his left side for the deciding goal in Tampa Bays fourth slot. "Its something that I struggled with in the past but practice does help with certain moves," Stamkos said. "I probably wasnt going to be in the first three but I was glad to go in there and help the team win in any situation. Its nice to see one go in and even nicer to help your team win in that situation." Stamkos, Radko Gudas, and Martin St. Louis scored in regulation for Tampa Bay, which has won five of six. Anders Lindback stopped 29 shots and turned aside three of four Florida shooters in the tiebreaker. Stamkos also had an assist. Lindback got his first win of the season. "We got another two points. Obviously for me coming in and winning a game, its nice," said Lindback, who started in the second half of back-to-back games in place of Ben Bishop. "He stopped a couple of their guys in the shootout," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "Thats where you need your goalie to stand up and win a game. He did that for us tonight." Brad Boyes, Nick Bjugstad and Shawn Matthias scored, and Markstrom made 25 saves for Florida. Boyes also had a shootout goal. Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov, and Dmitry Kulikov all missed. The Panthers lost for the fifth time in seven games, including two shootouts. "Unfortunately, we end up on the wrong end of these (shootouts) right now, but theres guys that are pushing hard and thats what we have to keep doing," Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. Florida rallied from a 3-1 defficit in the third period. Luke Kuechly Jersey. The Panthers closed to 3-2 on Bjugstads goal at 5:39 when he tipped in Scottie Upshalls shot from the point. Florida tied it when Boyes grabbed an errant puck and backhanded it under Lindbacks pads from in front at 8:51. Boyes leads the Panthers with five goals, but this was his first in seven games. Tampa Bay stretched its lead to 3-1 during a power play in the second period. Gudas took a wrist shot from just inside the blue line that deflected off Floridas Mike Weaver and got past Markstrom at 9:58. Gudas got a game misconduct at 12:51 of the third when he slashed at the boards in front of the Panthers bench after being squirted with water by Upshall, who received an unsportsmanlike conduct call. Florida closed to 2-1 on Matthias first goal of the season. Matthias grabbed a puck in traffic in front of the crease and slipped it behind Lindback at 13:48 of the first. It was Matthias first goal in 23 games, dating to last season. "Its tough going down 2-0 early like that, but we played really hard and battled back," Matthias said. "Its tough to have the final outcome happen." The Lightning scored two goals on their first three shots, including on just 41 seconds into the game. Stamkos passed from the top of the right circle to St. Louis, who poked in the puck from in front. St. Louis has scored in three straight games. Stamkos made it 2-0 at 4:35. Markstrom blocked a shot by Ryan Malone, but the long rebound went out to Stamkos in the right circle for a slap shot. The Lightning improved to 8-3. "Its probably the quietest 8-3 record in the league and we like it that way," Stamkos said. NOTES: Stamkos leads the Lightning with eight goals and 17 points. ... St. Louis has seven goals and 14 points in his past 10 games. ... Matthias previous goal was March 30 against New Jersey. ... Florida LW Tomas Fleischmann was scratched due to illness. Ashley Cole is enjoying playing football again following his move to the MLS and is confident LA Galaxy can regain that winning feeling against Houston on Friday night. Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys . The former England left-back joined LA Galaxy in January, having ended his contract early at Roma, and made his MLS debut in a 4-1 win over DC United.Im enjoying it, he told Sky Sports News HQ. Of course, its a little bit different to playing in the Premier League and in Italy but we have a good bunch of lads here and some familiar faces that I know so theyve made it very easy to come into the squad and into the team.Every manager and every team has a different philosophy or a different way they want to play so of course its a little bit different. Some familiar faces at the club have made it easier for the former Arsenal, Chelsea and Roma defender to settle since his move to Los Angeles, with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane already there. Ashley Cole joined LA Galaxy in January Cole was appreciative of the support given to him by the other European exiles at LA Galaxy, especially Gerrard.Id spoken to him prior to coming to LA, said Cole. He told me what its about and the layout of LA. From my first day here, he made it very easy for me. He took me around, showed me where I needed to be at certain times.I came here just to play football again. I didnt really have a great time in Rome so it was just for me to start enjoying my football again - theyve given me the chance to do that. Steven Gerrard playing for LA Galaxy Weve had great careers but in terms of hunger and desire [to win] we still have that. Its good for the league to have these kind of players - Stevie, Kaka, (Andrea) Pirlo, (Frank) Lampard - and I hope more players can come here and improve the league even more.He was looking forward to travelling on Friday night with his new team-mates to take on Houston Dynamo, managed by former Burnley boss Owen Coyle. Robbie Keane greets Cole on his arrival at LA Galaxy I know they have a couple of big players up front and they like to be a bit direct and hit these players because they can hold it up and get the other players around them.We know what we have to do. BINGHAMTON, N. Air Max 270 Ireland .Y. - The American Hockey Leagues Binghamton Senators have signed former NHL star Todd Bertuzzi to a professional tryout agreement. The Ottawa Senators affiliate says Bertuzzi will report to Binghamton on Monday. The 39-year-old has 770 points (314 goals, 456 assists) over 1,159 NHL games with the New York Islanders, Vancouver, Florida, Anaheim, Calgary and Detroit. The native of Sudbury, Ont., native had nine goals and seven assists in 59 games with the Red Wings last season. The 30-year-old Moore played in 13 games for the Saints last season, catching 37 balls for 457 yards and two touchdowns. After a bit of a slow start at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, the United States is right up there in the overall medal standings. Seven days into the competition, the U.S. began the day with four gold, two silver and six bronze medals. They are ranked fifth and have the second largest total amount of medals (12) behind Norway. Team USA has produced medals in alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, figure skating, luge and snowboarding. The glaring omission: long track speed skating. Coming into these Games, the U.S. was third in the all-time long track speed skating standings with 67 total medals and they lead in overall gold with 29. Its been 30 years since the U.S. didnt win at least one speed skating medal at the Olympics. In Sochi, Americans Brittany Bowe and Heather Richardson were the undisputed gold medal favourites in the womens 1,000 meters. Between the two, they won every World Cup race this season but in Russia they finished seventh and eighth. Shani Davis was expected to complete his historic three-peat in the 1000m and yet he finished eighth. No American has finished better than seventh place so far. In a sport where races are decided by hundredths of a second, the talk in Sochi has been about the new Under Armour suits U.S. skaters are wearing. Developed in secrecy in corporation with Lockheed Martin, the Mach 39 as it is known even looks uncomfortable to the untrained eye. Cheap Nike Air Max. A ventilation panel on the back is possibly to blame for taking in air, which hinders skaters from achieving the deep squatted stands required to deliver the ultimate stride. Then there is the U.S. training facility. American skaters have been preparing for Sochi in a building that hosts the fastest ice on the planet in Salt Lake City. The oval is on altitude which ensures fast conditions. However, the Adler Arena in Sochi is on sea level and its properties are completely different. The ice is considered slow where skaters need to rely less on technique and finesse and more on stamina and sheer determination. Team Canada trains on altitude in Calgary and perhaps it is not a coincidence that Denny Morrisons memorable silver moment is the only Canadian medal in Sochi so far. Time is running out for the U.S. long track team - and for Canadas - with only six medal events left at these Games. Both countries have slim medal hopes in the mens 10,000m and the womens 5,000m. The 1,500m - often considered the crown jewel of long track - is wide open but other than that, medaling at the team pursuit is needed to prevent historic lows. PITTSBURGH, Pa. Jeffery Simmons Titans Jersey . - It seems borderline surreal, a role reversal as stunning as it is definitive. A year ago, the Cincinnati Bengals came to Heinz Field in December and emerged with a 13-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. That propelled Cincinnati to a second straight post-season berth and sent its longtime nemesis into a downward spiral from which it is still trying to recover. Watch the Bengals vs. Steelers live on TSN with coverage starting at 7pm et/4pm pt. "I think (it was big)," Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green said. "The Steelers had our number every year, even when I first got here." Not anymore. Not by a long shot. If anything, the gap between the two franchises has only widened over the last 12 months. Cincinnati (9-4) can assure itself a third consecutive trip to the playoffs in Sunday nights rematch. The Steelers (5- need to win out just to avoid the clubs first losing season in a decade. Welcome to the new AFC North, the one where the balance of power is 60 minutes away from sitting well west of Pittsburgh and Baltimore — at a place that has spent most of the last two decades serving as fodder for the rest of the league. Those days are over. The Bengals, not the Steelers, are the ones with the young and athletic defence. The Bengals, not the Steelers, are the ones with the dynamic running game. The Bengals, not the Steelers, are the ones with the swagger of a champion. What better chance to show the world just how far theyve come than on national television? "Theres going to be more people watching," quarterback Andy Dalton said. "We have to put our best foot forward and be playing our best, show everyone what this team is and what were made of." The Steelers are trying to do the same. The meaningful portion of their season came to an end in a 34-28 loss to Miami last week that all but mathematically eliminated them from the chase for the AFCs second wild card berth. They insist, however, theyre not going to just play out the string. "Im motivated to play as hard as I can," quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said. "Im sure everyone else is." Five things to look for as Cincinnati tries to cement its newfound perch atop one of the leagues better divisions. HARRISONS HOMECOMING: Bengals linebacker James Harrison returns to the place where he forged a career as one of the most talented and menacing players in the league. The Steelers cut Harrison last spring after failing to reach agreement on a restructured contract. He landed in Cincinnati, where hes found a niche as a role player on a defence that is one of the NFLs most aggressive. PITTSBURGHS PATCHY D: The Steelers are in danger of finishing outside the top 10 in total defence for the first time this millennium. Pittsburgh is 13th in yards allowed with three weeks to go. The biggest culprit has been an inability to stop opponents from ripping off chunks of yardage. The Steelers have given up 11 plays of 50 yards or more this season, the most in the league. DYNAMITE DALTON: Dalton is having the best season of his brief career thanks in part to an offensive line that makes sure his No. 14 jersey looks the same at the end of the game as it did at the beginning. Dalton has gone three straight games without taking a sack. Its not a coincidence the Bengals are 3-0 in those games and have gone over 40 points twice. "I think any quarterback throws the ball better when theres not a lot of people around him," Dalton said. "Our line has done a good job, and we have to keep that going." BALANCE WITH BELL: The Steelers rank just 31st in the league in yards rushing, though they insist theyre happy with the ground game. Rookie LeVeon Bell is averaging over 90 yards from scrimmage per game thanks in part to his versatility. He already has 39 receptions, most of them on what are basically extended handoffs. GREEN VS. TAYLOR: Green has emerged as one of the top wide receivers in the league, but hes had trouble at times against Pittsburgh veteran cornerback Ike Taylor. Green caught six passes for just 41 yards in a 20-10 victory over the Steelers at home back in September. If Taylor can keep Green under wraps, the Steelers have a chance to postpone Cincinnatis party, at least for a bit. ___ AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org Earl Campbell Jersey . One day earlier, though, fellow Toronto Maple Leafs centre Nazem Kadri wasnt so sure his home and native land could pull off the win against the United States in the semi-finals of the Olympic hockey tournament.St. Louis, MO - The St. Louis Rams announced Wednesday the signing of guard Davin Joseph, a two-time Pro Bowl selection during his previous tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. NFL.com reported the deal to be a one-year contract. Joseph, a first-round choice (23rd overall) of the Buccaneers in the 2006 draft, earned Pro Bowl honors in 2008 and 2011 and started 99 games over seven seasons with Tampa Bay, inccluding all 16 at right guard in 2013. REGINA -- The Saskatchewan Roughriders defence had Hamilton Tiger-Cats quarterback Zach Collaros under siege for much of the night. Jack Ham Steelers Jersey . The Riders sacked the first-year Hamilton starter 10 times and limited the Tiger-Cats to less than 200 yards total offence in a convincing 31-10 victory on Sunday at Mosaic Stadium. "Our defence played lights out," said Riders quarterback Darian Durant, who tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the game. "Give them the lead and they can really tee off on the opposing team." Ricky Foley led the Riders defence with six tackles and three sacks. John Chick and Derek Walker each had two sacks, and the defending Grey Cup champions looked dominant in front of 19,285 spectators that braved wet and windy weather. "It seemed like a lot of things we working for us," Chick said. "You see the chemistry of the guys today. A bunch of us have a full season under our belts working together and the new guys are coming along. To see everyone working together was great." The poor weather didnt slow the Riders offence. Saskatchewan scored on three of its first four possessions and enjoyed a 24-1 lead at halftime. The Riders racked up 196 yards of offence in the first half compared to just 96 yards from Hamilton. First-year Riders running back Anthony Allen rushed for 158 yards and scored two touchdowns in his first CFL start. Durant connected with eight different receivers on the day and threw touchdown strikes to Allen and fellow newcomer Brett Swain. "We live out here," Durant said when asked how well the offence moved the ball despite the lousy weather. "It has been raining for a month and weve been practising in it day in and day out. We prepared ourselves for this and we did a great job of not letting (the weather) be a factor." Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin didnt use the weather as an excuse for his teams poor debut, although it didnt help in its bid for a come-from-behind victory on the road. "I saw not a very good football team today," Austin said. "We have to make a great improvement in a lot of areas right now. I have to get our guys more discipline. Our penalty situation is ridiculous right now. "It was a monsoon out there, and the wind a Im not making excuses for (Collaros). It was tough conditions to play in. Their pressure just compounded things." Saskatchewan had Collaros on the run early. Walkers first sack snuffed Hamiltons opening offensive drive, and on their second possession, it was a sack by linebacker Sam Hurl that led to punter Justin Medlock conceding a safety. A Collaros fumble and a snap that sailed over Medlocks head on a punt attempt just added to Hamiltons woes in the first half. Luke Tasker scored Hamiltons lone touchdown on a 10-yard pass from Collaros. "Im not angry at the team," said Austin, whose club was penalized 17 times for 148 yards. "Its about getting better. This game means something only if we learn to get better from it. Other than that, it has no meaning. We have to limit our mistakes and learn how to get better." Saskatchewan will visit the Toronto Argonauts (1-0) in Week 2. Hamilton, meanwhile will travel to Edmonton to take on the Eskimos (1-0). The contest was Canadas lone tuneup heading into the Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament, which begins Monday. The Canadians face Switzerland in their opening game in Piestany, Slovakia. Canada twice overcame a two-goal deficit to enter the third period tied 4-4. Harkins and Roy, on the power play, scored to put the Canadians ahead 6-4 before the Czechs countered with the man advantage to make it a one-goal game. But after Canada killed off two penalties -- which gave the Czechs a two-man power play for over a minute -- Konecny recorded the insurance goal at 14:51 of the period. Lawson Crouse had two goals for Canada while Mitchell Marner and Connor Hobbs had the others. Jakub Zboril scored twice for the Czechs. Martin Weinhold, Filip Suchy and Lukas Jasko added the other goals. Both teams switched goaltenders roughly at the midway point of the contest, with Zach Sawchenko taking over from starter Callum Booth in the Canadian net. The first shot Sawchenko faced was a penalty shot but Czech Roman Dymacek missed the net. The contest was the first for the Canadian team and head coach Jody Hull was impressed with the squads resiliency in overcoming the two-goal deficits. "Thats what impressed me," said Hull, the head coach of the OHLs Peterborough Petes. "There was no quit in our guys, they were vocal on the bench and once we started playing that down-low game we started to have some success and gained some momentum. "It was a bit of a learning curve. There are some things we know we have to workk on and get better at but there were a lot of positives. Justin Layne Jersey. " A consistent challenge for Canada on the international stage is putting a team together that can come together quickly. And thats important, considering Saturdays game was the first of six over an eight-day span for the Canadians. Then again, 22 members of the squad have previous experience in Hockey Canadas Program of Excellence. "The biggest thing is trying to get all your systems across and what you want to do," Hull said. "When its all said and done theres only going to be like six practices where youre able to get your message across. "Its a lot of video and stuff but players in todays game are all visual learners. They pick it up pretty quick when were watching video but at the same time they also have a very high hockey IQ so theyre able to adjust relatively quickly." Konecny said one exhibition game is more than enough for the Canadian squad heading into the tournament. "We have to do what we have to do and work with the time we have," he said. "This gives us and our coaches stuff to work on and shows us what we need to improve on throughout the tournament. "Our objective as a team is to come together as fast as we can and prepare as fast as we can and gel and figure each other out and know the chemistry." Canada has won the annual summer tournament six consecutive years and 18 times overall since 91. It will play in Group B with Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland. The Czechs, Finland, Russia and U.S. will make up Group A and play out of Breclav. The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals Aug. 15. AUBURN HILLS, Mich. Cam Newton Jersey . - Andre Drummond had his best night on the boards. He was happier about another rare feat. Drummond had 17 points and a career-high 26 rebounds to match a single-season franchise record with his 44th double-double, helping the Detroit Pistons surge to beat the New York Knicks 96-85 Monday night in a matchup of slumping teams. The Pistons had lost four straight and seven of eight. "Im just happy we won the game," Drummond said when asked about his career-high rebounding total. Drummonds 26 rebounds matched Houstons Dwight Howard for the most in an NBA game this season. "Hes a young, explosive player," New Yorks Tyson Chandler said. "We missed a lot of shots, so we helped him out." New York has dropped seven straight games and 13 of 15. "Im running out of comments," Carmelo Anthony said. And, the Knicks are running out of time to rally for a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs. "Its not over yet," Amare Stoudemire insisted. It looked like the Knicks skid might end after Anthony scored 10 of his 28 points in a first quarter in which they led by as much as 14 and were ahead 28-20 when it ended. "We started off slow and let them be comfortable," Drummond said. The second-year centre said the plan was to start making Anthony uncomfortable, and it worked. The Pistons outscored New York by three points in the second quarter, 30-20 in the third and started the fourth quarter with eight unanswered points. "We got a string of stops, but we couldnt convert on the other end," Anthony said. The Knicks, who started 8 of 15 from the field, were 9 of 18 in the first quarter. Anthony made his first four shots — all from the outside — for 10 points in six-plus minutes as New York led 14-4. Stoudemire, who scored eight points in the first quarter, made a driving dunk to lift the Knicks to a 25-11 lead. Over the next three quarters, New York barely connected on one-third of its shots. "A game like this is very disappointing," Chandler said. "When you have that kind of lead and when you have that kind of control of the game, you should be able to win. "We just went flat and let them take over." J.R. Smith missed a lot of attempts before closing 5 of 17 from the field and scoring 16 points for the Knicks. New Yorks Raymond Felton made only 1 of 9 shots and acknowledged his personal life might be affecting him professionally. He was charged last month with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and criminal possession of a firearm. "Obviously if youre dealing with something, its on your mind," Felton said. "But I try not to let that come into my job." New Yorks third guard, Tim Hardaway Jr., was 0 for 6 in front of some fans who cheered for the rookie at Michigan. "I thought our defence was pretty solid, but our offence fell apart in the second half," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. "We were just flat, and we couldnt get anything going from the outside. Raymond didnt hit anything. J.R. didnt hit anything. Timmy didnt hit anything. We cant ask two guys to score all our points." Stoudemire had 22 points — one short of his season high — despite playing sparingly in the fourth quarter. He was on the court for 32 minutes, a day after facing the Chicago Bulls, after recently being slowed by an injured left ankle. "I feel great," he said. "Its a great sign." Detroit reserves Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum each scored 16 points, helping their teams bench outscore New Yorks 36-7. Greg Monroe had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Pistons, who are trying to climb up in the Eastern Conference standings to earn a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2009. NOTES: Drummond matched a team double-double mark set by Bill Laimbeer during the 1983-84 season that was equaled by Grant Hill in the 1995-96 season. ... New Yorks Kenyon Martin, whose sore left ankle is still in a protective boot, said is scheduled to have his injury evaluated on Thursday. ... We believe that this offer is fair and reasonable, and we want to share its details with you. If ratified by the Players, the CFL offer would provide the following: Financial Terms - Increase the salary cap by 9% this season from $4,400,000 to $4,800,000 per team (and further increasing by $50,000 each year over the following five years to $5,050,000)- Effectively increase the average player salary up to 12% this season from $82,904 to $92,917 (and further increasing over the following five years)- Increase the minimum player salary by 11% this season from $45,000 to $50,000 (and further increasing to $55,000 over the following five years)- A further increase to the salary cap of $100,000 per team if the CFL receives more television revenue from TSN under a renegotiated broadcast agreement for each remaining year on the CBA- Maintain the $450,000 annual payment to the CFLPA for Player marketing and other rights This has been a long and difficult process for all involved. And when it comes right down to it, we just want to play. So, we have also offered to pay a ratification bonus of $3,000 to veteran Players and $1,000 to rookie Players (on a team roster as at June 22, 2014) if this agreement is ratified on or before June 2, 2014. Player Safety & Welfare - Immediately add two players to each teams Active Roster - Immediately restrict the number of contact practices during the regular season- Maintain 2013 CFL policy to restrict the number of contact practices during training camp- Maintain all current Player pension, medical plan and life insurance benefits- Maintain all CFL annual payments for Player counselling and rehabilitation support under the CFL-CFLPA Drug Policy On May 20, 2014 your Executive Committee provided us with their financial proposal in response to our offer. The CFLPAs financial proposal provides for a salary cap increase to $6.24 million in 2014, as well as approximately $240,000 per team per year in other monetary increases to pre and post-season compensation and pension plan contributions per year. From 2015 forward, significantly more would be added to salary cap based on a revenue sharing model. We advised the CFLPA in no uncertain terms that their proposal was not realistic, and would not form the basis for any financial settlement. In fact, it would threaten the very existence of the CFL. We have obviously rejected the CFLPA proposal today in negotiations, and we have told your Executive Committee that we are prepared to meet in bargaining at any time once they are prepared to discuss a fair and reasonable settlement that makes sense for both the Players and the League. Over the last five years, we have improved the foundation of our league. However, our work in this regard is not yet complete. Continued investment, focus and effort is required to achieve our vision of a strong, stable, and sustainable CFL. And while we remain mindful of the additional steps we must take, we also recognize the progress, together with the Players, that we have already made. And this progress is reflected in this offer. The CFL offer strikes an appropriate balance of, on the one hand, providing significant compensation increases and health & safety improvements to the Players while, on the other hand, creating an environment in which the League and its teams can continue to build for a strong and stable future. It provides a fair share to the Players, and helps us to effectively manage our businesses with a view to a strong future - for everyone. Over the last 25 years, with limited exceptions, CFL teams have either operated at a financial loss or struggled to generate even the slightest amount of profit. There are numerous factors that contributed to this, but central among them was the unbalanced relationship between revenues and all costs. Quite simply, the revenues being generated from the primary revenue streams of ticket sales, television, and sponsorships were insufficient to meet the essential operating requirements of the teams. Investments were needed in infrastructure (notably in stadiums and training facilities), and in modernizing our operations (i.e. developing our internet capabilities, and actively building competitive brands in our largest markets). However, without operating profits these investments were either insufficient, or not made at all, at both the League and team levels. A reasonable, fixed salary cap provides the foundation for a sensible business model. The League and teams have started to invest in their own futures. They have increased the skill and professionalism of their business leaders and staff, consistently and thoughtfully begun to strengthen their brands in their local markets, and have spent or committed $175 million in private money towards major stadium and infrastructure projects to create a modern CFL. Instead of reverting back to the days of old - limited investment, limited growth, significant instability, and a stagnant or declining business - we have a credible opportunity to boldly look to the future. In this new scenario, everybody ultimately wins. If you have any questions about this offer, please speak with your teams Players Association representative or a member of your Executive Committee. I want to thank you for considering this offer. This is not an easy process. The business side of football is never as much fun as the game itself. But we all share a responsibility to ensure that our league is strong for this generation of CFL fans and those that follow. Thank you for your consideration and your dedication to our League. A deft leap from the guard kept the ball in play and sent the Twins on their way to ending a 10-game road losing streak. Morales tiebreaking double in the top of the ninth off Texas closer Joakim Soria brought in pinch-runner Sam Fuld from first base in a 3-2 Minnesota victory Sunday. After the security guard dodged the ball with his right foot, the carom off a brick wall just missed his left foot as the ball rolled into shallow left field, a long way from Texas Michael Choice. A ground-rule double would have forced Fuld to stop at third instead of scoring easily, and Soria (1-3) struck out the final two hitters of the inning. "We got a couple of breaks, and we won the ballgame," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. Kyle Gibson (7-6) matched a career high by going eight innings and scattering eight hits. Glen Perkins struck out the side in the ninth for his 20th save in 23 chances. Robinson Chirinos had three hits for Texas, including his seventh homer of the season in the fifth inning for a 2-2 tie. Josh Willinghams second hit got the winning rally started with one out in the ninth before he was replaced by Fuld. The Twins had lost the first five games on a six-game road trip after winning four straight on a brief homestand. "It was a big game for us after a tough road trip," said Gibson, who had a 22-inning scoreless streak snapped when he allowed seven runs in just two innings to start the trip at the Los Angeles Angels. "All I did was try to give my team a chance to win and turn things around." Jorge Polanco, making his first major league start for Minnesota, had a tying double on a check-swing roller over the bag at third base in the third inning. The 20-year-old shortstop scored for a 2-1 lead on a single by Joe Mauer, who extended his hiitting streak to a season-high 10 games. Swell Bottle Nederland. "They did what they had to do to win the game," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "We didnt. Even if it was check swings and all that stuff, thats baseball. You cant control what happens sometimes." Polanco also had a strong day defensively, helping turn three double plays and taking a hit way from Elvis Andrus on a one-hop smash to his left in the eighth inning. "The kid played great at shortstop," Gardenhire said. "He has good at-bats. Hes got things to learn, but hes doing just fine." The Rangers had runners at first and third with nobody out in the second and again with one out in the seventh but didnt score either time. Choice struck out ahead of Rougned Odors double-play grounder in the second, and Choice grounded into a double play to end the seventh. Texas right-hander Colby Lewis ended a streak of 13 straight starts without a quality start of at least six innings and three earned runs or fewer, which was tied for the major league record with Seattles Steve Trout from 1988. He gave up two runs in six innings and struck out eight. Lewis left in a 2-2 tie, remaining winless in seven career starts against the Twins. It was the second rough outing of the three-game series for Soria. He gave up four runs in the ninth inning of Texas 5-4 victory on Friday. The injury-riddled Rangers (37-44) hit the halfway mark of the season with their fewest wins since 2007 and are 14 games behind Oakland in the AL West. "Were just in a situation right now where weve got guys hurt and were going to go out there and compete," Lewis said. "Thats all Wash asks us to do." NOTES: Chris Parmelees single in the sixth inning gave him a career-best nine-game hitting streak. ... The Rangers won a home series for the first time since mid-April. They had gone winless in 10 straight series at home. ... Polanco is the first Minnesota player to start his career with two extra-base hits since Rich Becker in 1993. "I have always felt when Im playing at my best, then its hard for people to beat me," Williams said. Rafael Nadal could say the same. He advanced to the semifinals by hitting a flurry of forehand winners down the stretch to beat Milos Raonic 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. On Saturday, the No. 1-ranked Williams will try for a record seventh Key Biscayne title against No. 2 Li Na, who overcame 40 unforced errors to beat Dominika Cibulkova 7-5, 2-6, 6-3. "When I grew up I always wanted to play here," she said. "I guess I just dont want to let go. Its my favourite stop on the tour. Its home. All my friends come. So its perfect for me." There was no evidence of a home-court advantage at the start, when Williams failed to convert four early break-point chances and fell behind. Sharapova cracked a succession of winners from the baseline and earned applause from Williams after besting her in one exchange. But Williams broke back when Sharapova committed three consecutive backhand errors, and gained momentum from there, sweeping the final five games of the first set. The story was similar in the second set, and after falling behind, Williams resorted to her dominating power. She quickly won one game with two aces and two service winners during a period when she swept 11 consecutive points. Sharapova committed groundstroke errors on the final three points, and a victorious Williams trotted to the net, her left fist leading the way. She has more victories against Sharapova than against any other opponent. "Despite my results against her, I still look forward to playing against her because you learn so much from that type of level which she produces," Sharapova said. NEW YORK -- A goal that didnt count in the Sharks victory over the New York Rangers garnered more attention than the one that made the difference in surging San Joses latest win. Nike Air Force Pas Cher Chine . Antti Niemi stopped 41 shots for his fourth shutout, and Logan Coutures first-period, short-handed goal stood up as the Sharks beat the Rangers 1-0 Sunday for their sixth straight win. New York thought it had the game tied with 3:15 left in the second period. During a stoppage, all four officials gathered at the scorers table, and a lengthy video review was conducted in Toronto to see if Carl Hagelins stuff attempt at the left post nudged the puck over the line. Numerous replays failed to show the puck behind Niemi, who blocked the view, but one zoomed-in and enhanced picture appeared to show the puck disappear behind the post -- drawing a huge cheer from the crowd. Those yells turned to boos when it was announced there was no conclusive evidence of a goal. Rangers coach Alain Vigneault called over referee Dan OHalloran for an explanation he didnt really seem to accept. "It doesnt matter what I think. I dont make the decisions," Vigneault said in a quiet tone. "This is not me saying this, but some of my friends say that they make it up as they go along. Im just going to leave it at that. "The replay that I saw, you cant see the puck. Maybe I can assume that if you cant see the puck it is under the goaltenders pad and in the goal. It has to be conclusive and I guess they felt it wasnt, so there is nothing you can do about it." Niemi and the Sharks defence were the difference, unlike in the first meeting between the teams, won 9-2 by San Jose on Oct. 8. Niemi, who has 27 career NHL shutouts, was particularly strong during a Rangers power play early in the third. San Jose, tied with Anaheim atop the Pacific Division, is 11-2-1 in its past 14. In a 12-game stretch against Eastern Conference opponents that ends Tuesday at home versus Florida, the Sharks are 9-1-1. "Nemo was unbelievable," Sharks captain Joe Thornton said. "That was maybe his best game all year. He stole this one for us." Henrik Lundqvist made 28 saves but was denied in his first attempt to set the Rangers record with his 302nd victory. He equaled Mike Richters mark Friday at Winnipeg, but couldnt hide his disappointment in this loss. "This loss is so painful in so many ways," he said. "We had so many open nets, so many chances to get back in this game but we just couldnt get it in. Then you look at their goal, to give it up on our own power play, and thats the only goal. It just adds to the frustration." New York, which lost for the third time in four games, dropped one point behind Philadelphia in the Metropolitan Division race and into an Eastern Conference wild-card position. "We definitely understand how important every point is," Lundqvist said. "We played a really strong game against one of the best teams in the league, but its hard to be positive about a lot of things when you dont win. Right now its about points, its not about playing great against good teams." San Jose, which had 11 shots in the first period, recorded four while short-handed and grabbed the lead. Couture took the puck away from Mats Zuccarello in the neutral zone, raced ahead of Brad Richards, shook him off, and beat Lundqvist with a backhander at 11:48 for his 19th goal -- second short-handed. "Felt good to get a shorty that stood up for us," Couture said. "We have a great attitude as a team and know how important the last 13 games will be." San Jose came out much better in the second and held a 10-7 shots edge during the scoreless frame. New Yorks next best scoring chance came with 4:09 left when defenceman Ryan McDonagh, seemingly with an open right side in front of him, had his shot blocked by the reaching stick of defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic. Niemi was the main reason the Sharks went into the first intermission with the lead. He stopped all 20 shots fired at him. "We played another great road game," Niemi said after the Sharks finished a 3-0 trip. "They came hard at us from the beginning. With good reads and some luck, I was able to make some saves." Niemi made two eye-popping stops against struggling forward Derick Brassard, including a point-blank chance with 40 seconds left that Niemi kicked out with his left pad. It had Brassard staring at the ceiling and shaking his head. Earlier in the period, Niemi quickly moved over to deny Brassards backhander at the right post off a rebound of McDonaghs shot. "Weve got to believe that if we keep playing this way we will be all right," Vigneault said. Lundqvist was also sharp in the first, making a strong save with his chest against Patrick Marleau, who fired the Sharks first shot from the slot 5:31 in. New York had the games first seven shots. NOTES: The Rangers havent allowed a power-play goal in eight games, killing 21 penalties. ... San Jose took three penalties after having none on Friday. Air Max 95 Pas Cher Chine . Sources tell TSN that union executives travelled to select CFL cities Monday to open dialogue with players and answer questions. After the tentative deal was reached Saturday night, several players posted messages of frustration and disappointment on social media - and that carried over into Sunday on both the web and the field. Site Air Max Pas Cher . -- Alex Anthopoulos spoke volumes with what he didnt say on right-hander Ervin Santana. http://www.basketnikedestockage.fr/ . Today, their baseball playing sons were reportedly traded for each other. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Cubs dealt minor league outfield Trevor Gretzky to the Angels for catcher Matt Scioscia.PHILADELPHIA – One year ago at the NHL draft in Newark, the Maple Leafs picked Frederik Gauthier with their first selection, a hulking centre with likely third-line potential and a low offensive ceiling. They swung for a much higher fence with the eighth overall pick on Friday night, landing the "electrifying" William Nylander from Sweden. A speedy, highlight-reel winger, he is the son of longtime NHL centre Michael Nylander and the first European Toronto has drafted in the first round since Jiri Tlusty in 2006. Nylander is also the first draft pick of the Brendan Shanahan era and an injection of homegrown game-breaking ability, long-starved within the Leaf organization. "Hes got high, high-end skill," gushed general manager Dave Nonis, shortly after the pick was made. And that fills a need within the prospect ranks of the organization, considerably deprived over the years. Though hopeful that the likes of Carter Verhaeghe, Connor Brown and Andreas Johnson may eventually make an impact of sorts with the big club, the Leafs simply did not boast a game-breaker with Nylanders ceiling beyond the NHL club (and have not historically). They havent landed many at all from the draft. Vincent Damphousse, picked sixth overall in 1986, was the last homegrown player to register at least 80 points in a season as a Leaf. Toronto has, additionally, sent only two homegrown players to the All-Star game in the past 20 years, neither of whom was a forward (Tomas Kaberle and Felix Potvin). Dealing first round picks – as they did five times from 2003-2011 – certainly didnt help the matter. Nylander may or may not make it, but he, at the very least, represents the kind of high upside, homegrown talent the organization has mostly lacked, especially up front – Nazem Kadri, who scored 20 goals as a 23-year-old last season, was a recent exception. Nonis wouldnt go as far as to say that adding skill was a priority, but labeled it "an area of weakness". "He might be the most skilled player in the draft," said the Leafs GM of Nylander. Nonis saw that skill firsthand at the Under-18 tournament in Finland this past April. Nylander, playing for Sweden, led all players with 16 points in seveen games, notching six goals along the way. Tn Pas Cher Chine. As a teenager, he spent part of last season in Swedens top league, totaling a goal and seven points in 22 games – notable given his age and size (5-foot-11, 169 pounds). "He has NHL speed, NHL hands, an NHL shot right now," Nonis said. "Its whether or not the rest of his game can catch up." Unwilling to pay Dale Tallons price for the first overall pick and rights to draft Aaron Ekblad, Nonis said he actually considered moving down if one of two players – Nylander among them – wasnt there to be had with the eighth pick. Nylander grew up around the NHL, his father totaling 920 NHL games for seven different teams. That kept the younger Nylander in North America until the age of 14 when he moved to Sweden, eventually playing alongside his 40-year-old dad last year (with Rogle in the second-tier league). "I like to score goals and make plays," Nylander said, projecting an aura of confidence and cool, noticeably unfazed by all that surrounded him. A free agent and thus able to come to North America next year if he and the organization so choose, Nylander will audition for the Leafs in the fall. "Hell definitely have a chance to make our team," Nonis said. "[But] I really dont care how skilled you are, its very difficult to make the NHL as an 18-year-old. I think itd be a long shot for him to do that, but hes going to be given that opportunity and if hes good enough to stick and play and contribute then we would keep him. If not, well decide at that point whether its best to keep him over in North America or to have him go back to Sweden to play in the Elite League." Nylander boasts a "VERY high ceiling" according to Mark Seidel, chief scout for North American Central Scouting, but has been trailed by attitude questions, something Nonis brushed aside as outward confidence. Like most draftees, the new Leaf prospect will have to get bigger and stronger before he is likely to make the leap to the NHL, additionally requiring some acclimation to the North American ice surface. "It may take him a month to acclimate, it might take him over a year – I dont know that," said Nonis. "But the skill-set is very high end." DETROIT -- Ian Kinsler took off toward second base and kept on going. Stephon Gilmore Jersey . By the time the Los Angeles Angels finished throwing the ball all over Comerica Park, Kinsler had scored one of the wackiest runs hes ever been a part of. "It was an unusual play," Kinsler said. "Ive never seen it before." Kinsler scored in the first inning when the Angels made three errors on one play, and the Detroit Tigers went on to beat Los Angeles 2-1 on Sunday. The Angels made another error in the sixth, helping Detroit score its second run. Rick Porcello pitched seven sharp innings for the Tigers. The Angels took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Howie Kendrick, then let the Tigers tie it in the bottom of the inning in slapstick fashion. Kinsler was on first and began running on a 3-2 pitch to Miguel Cabrera. It was ball four, but catcher Hank Conger threw to second anyway, and the ball sailed into centre field. Kinsler went to third, and when centre fielder Mike Trouts throw back to the infield went past the second baseman and shortstop, the Detroit runner tried to score. It looked as if the Angels would have a play on Kinsler, but pitcher Hector Santiago picked up the ball near the mound and threw wildly to the plate. Kinsler scored and Cabrera went to second. "Im not sure I would have wanted him to go home," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "But it worked out for us today, and Ive said this on a number of occasions when baserunning mistakes have cost us a baserunner: Id rather they err on the side of being aggressive." Conger, Trout and Santiago were all charged with errors on the play. "That was a lot happening on one play, and it was obviously a strange one. We thought we had Cabrera struck out, and all of a sudden they had a run in and a runner on second base," said Angels manager Mike Scioscia, a former catcher. "When you are a catcher, you cant wait for the ump to make the call on that pitch. You know where the ball was, and you know what the call should be. Hank thought it was strike three, and hes following through with the throw. After that, things didnt go well." In the sixth, Conger threw wildly to first trying to pick off Austin Jackson. It was his second error of the game, and Jackson went to second. Nick Castellanos followed with an RBI single to put Detroit ahead 2-1. Porcello (2-1) allowed a run and five hits, striking out four and walking one. Three relievers finished, with Joe Nathan pitching the ninth for his third save in five chances. Santiago (0-3) allowed two unearned runs and two hits in 5 2-3 innings. He walked five and struck out seven. Santiago threw 119 pitches and was wild throughout, but the Tigers never really solved him. He was lifted after walking Jackson with two outs in the sixth. Reliever Kevin Jepsen came in and was victimized by Congers error and Castellanos single. Porcello was pitching exactly one year after allowing nine runs in two-thirds of an inning against the Angels -- and he also gave up seven runs to Los Angeles in a start last June. On Sunday, he allowed three straight singles in the first inning but kept the Angels quiet after that. Albert Pujols hit a first-inning single but remains at 498 homers as Los Angeles heads to Washington to play a three-game series against the Nationals. Trout, who struck out four times Saturday, went hitless Sunday and grounded out with the tying run on second in the eighth. NOTES: The last time a team made three errors on one play was on April 16, 2007, according to STATS. Baltimore made three errors on one play in the third inning against Tampa Bay. ... Kendrick had three hits. ... Rajai Davis and Alex Avila struck out three times each for Detroit. ... The Tigers begin a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox on Monday night. Detroit RHP Anibal Sanchez (0-1) faces Chicago LHP John Danks (1-0). Los Angeles RHP Garrett Richards (2-0) starts against Nationals RHP Tanner Roark (1-0). Irving Fryar Jersey . The team made the announcement after Saturdays 6-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. RHP Kenny Giles will be called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to fill Adams spot on the roster. Stephon Gilmore Youth Jersey .com) - The Winnipeg Jets placed defenceman Paul Postma on injured reserve Tuesday. http://www.shoptheofficialpatriots.com/ . -- Terry Francona likened the atmosphere at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday to a playoff game in October.PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins are heading to the playoffs for an eighth straight year. Barring an epic collapse, a Metropolitan Division title is all but clinched. What happens after that, however, is anybodys guess. Dominant in the beginning but dismal at the end, the Penguins let a chance to clinch their second straight division crown slip away in a 4-1 loss to Carolina on Tuesday night that left Pittsburgh just 8-8-2 since returning from the Olympic break. Not exactly the kind of momentum a Stanley Cup contender wants to bring into the final days of the regular season. "If youre not 100 per cent, they can expose you and make you look pretty silly," Penguins defenceman Brooks Orpik said. "Thats what happened here tonight." Carolina rookie Elias Lindholm scored twice for the first multi-goal game of his career, Eric Staal and Justin Faulk also scored while Jeff Skinner added two assists. Anton Khudobin stopped 30 shots as the Hurricanes avoided being swept in the season series by Pittsburgh for the first time in 18 years. "I thought we kept it simple and kind of slowly frustrated them as it went on and it was a win we needed," Staal said. Chris Kunitz scored his 35th goal to give Pittsburgh an early lead, but the Penguins crumbled over the final two periods. Sidney Crosby picked up an assist to push his NHL-leading point total to 100, but the Penguins appeared to lose interest after failing to bury the Hurricanes during a frenetic opening barrage in which they appeared ready to run Carolina out of the arena. "We all felt like the first 10 minutes we were carrying the play ... for whatever reason we got away from that," Crosby said. "Maybe we thought that came easy or we could get away with cheating. And it didnt work." No, it didnt. Marc-Andre Fleury made 24 saves, but received little help playing behind a sloppy defence. The Penguins turned it over 13 times, including a series of miscues the Hurricanes were only too happy to turn into goals. "I think we started mismanaging the puck and started having turnovers in the neutral zone," Pittsburgh coach Dan Bylsma said. The Penguins appeared to right the enigmatic final third of their seeason with a spirited 4-1 victory over Chicago on Sunday night. Andre Tippett Jersey. Two days later, the sense of urgency evaporated when the Hurricanes -- who are about to miss the playoffs for the fifth straight year -- failed to roll over. Pittsburgh recorded 12 of the first 14 shots, including Kunitzs wrist shot from the left circle that Khudobin never saw. Crosby picked up the secondary assist to lift his point total to the century mark for the fifth time in his career, drawing a roar from the usual sellout crowd at Consol Energy Center. It had all the makings of a blowout. One developed, just not the one the Penguins were expecting. Carolina steadied itself late in the first, evening the game on a knuckling slap shot by Faulk that gave the Hurricanes the confidence boost they needed to get back in it. The Penguins malaise did the rest. "That goal from (Faulk) really evens it up and then we kind of just took a deep breath, got our legs going better and then I thought we just started moving better and playing a much smarter game," Carolina coach Kirk Muller said. Lindholm put Carolina in front to stay 9:24 into the second with a power-play goal that included a pretty feed from Skinner, who threaded a pass between Pittsburgh defenceman Olli Maattas legs right to Lindholms stick. Fleury never had a chance. The goaltender was equally helpless five minutes later when a turnover by teammate Deryk Engelland handed Skinner and Lindholm a breakaway that Lindholm converted into the first multi-goal game of his brief career. Any late push by the Penguins ended when Staals tip-in eluded Fleury with just over 8 minutes left. Instead of skating off the ice with their fourth division title since Crosbys arrival in 2005, Pittsburgh trudged to the locker room wondering when the consistency that propelled them to the top of the Eastern Conference before the Olympic break will return. "Theres not much good to take out of it," Crosby said. "So weve just got to make sure we respond the next game." DENVER -- Champ Bailey spent a decade with the Denver Broncos, making eight Pro Bowls and picking off 34 passes even with quarterbacks only reluctantly glancing his way. Doug Williams Womens Jersey . This number was hard to overlook: $10 million. In a cost-cutting move Thursday, the Broncos released Bailey, the teams defensive leader whos been a fan favourite since he was acquired in a trade with Washington in 2004. Theres simply no room for loyalty in the NFL, especially with free agency about to start and with holes needing to be filled, something that became apparent to the Broncos after a 43-8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl last month. Broncos boss John Elway called the decision to release Bailey a "difficult" one given all that the perennial Pro Bowl cornerback has brought to the team over his 10 seasons in the Mile High City. "Without question, hes among the best cornerbacks to ever play the game and one of the finest players in the history of the Broncos," Elway said in a statement. "You couldnt ask for more in a player than what Champ brought to this team. His combination of elite talent, class, leadership and competitiveness made him one of the all-time greats." But age and injuries had begun to catch up with one of the best shutdown cornerbacks to play the game. Bailey, a 12-time Pro Bowler overall, is scheduled to make around $10 million next season, which is a lot of money for a cornerback who may be asked to switch to safety or possibly inside to the slot position. This was a hard season for the 35-year-old Bailey as he missed 11 games because of a nagging left foot sprain originally suffered in the preseason on Aug. 17 in Seattle. Only later did Bailey reveal he sustained a Lisfranc injury. He returned late in the season to help the Broncos advance to the Super Bowl, but wasnt back to his old form -- the form that had QBs scanning everywhere but his direction. In his prime, Bailey wasnt always very busy because opponents simply picked on his counterpart. And yet he still has 52 career interceptions, the most among active cornerbacks. "I consider it a privilege to have coached Champ these last three years," Broncos coach John Fox said. "Theres no doubt he played an integral role in establishing a culture of winning here. "Aside from his natural ability, Champ set a great example with his hard work and relentless commitment to mastering his craft." The 15-year veteran mentored many teammates, teaching them the tricks of the cornerback trade. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, an impending free agent, once said he used to study film of Bailey simply because, "If youre a cornerback, you have to be a fan of Champ Bailey. Anytime a guy does that for a period of time he did it, 14 or 15 years, youve got to watch him." Rodgers-Cromartie and Bailey were supposed to be a lockdown tandem in 2013. Until Bailey got hurt. So in stepped Chris Harris Jr., an undrafted player out of Kansas who soaked up all of Baileys suggestions as he waited his turn. Once he got on the field, Harris became almost a copy of Bailey -- or as much as anyone can be. Harris blew out a knee against San Diego in the divisional round, leading to Baileys return to his usual spot at left corner. On his Twitter account, Harris thanked Bailey for his help, saying he was blessed to be able to "lineup opposite Champ and learn from a Great." Harris wasnt alone in his praise, with linebacker Danny Trevathan posting on Twitter: "Champ. You taught me a lot!" Although quarterbacks didnt always pick on him, Bailey still found a way to get involved. He prided himself on his tackling and frequently crept up to the line of scrimmage to help out. In 215 regular-season games, Bailey has 983 tackles, three sacks, nine forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. His best statistical season was 2006, when he had a career-high 10 interceptions and finished as runner-up for The Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year. About the only thing that eluded Bailey in his time with Denver was that Super Bowl ring. But Elway said there is a "ring" in Baileys future because Elway said hes going to have a place in the teams Ring of Fame once his career is finished. Maybe down the road there will be a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, too, which would make him the first Denver defensive player to be enshrined. "On behalf of everyone with the Broncos, I wish Champ all the best and thank him for everything he did for this franchise," Elway said. "Champ will always be a Bronco." "Feeling really good," James said. The Miami Heat surely liked that answer. James returned to the practice floor with the Heat on Saturday, two days after he was forced to leave Game 1 of the NBA Finals because of cramps. He will be in the lineup for Game 2 against the Spurs on Sunday night, when sports safest bet will be that the temperature inside San Antonios AT&T Center will be several degrees lower than it was for the series opener. "Im doing well, doing a lot better," James said before Saturdays workout. "The soreness is starting to get out. Im feeling better than I did yesterday and with another day, I should feel much better tomorrow." James wasnt going to go crazy on the conditioning front Saturday. The Heat were planning a glorified walkthrough for their practice, andd the four-time NBA MVP expected to get some cardio work done by biking and running. Charles Mann Youth Jersey. "Hes feeling better, moving around," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Yesterday was all about rest and hydration and building his body back up. Thankfully we had that extra day." James left with 3:59 remaining in Game 1 after his body shut down because of the cramps. The Heat trailed by two at that point and wound up losing by 15. James told teammates before Game 1 that they needed to have a Game 7 approach -- and with the Heat down 1-0 in the series, hell underscore that point again Sunday. "I want to be able to finish the game but you have to have that mindset, there is no tomorrow," James said. "Its challenging, but for a championship you dont want it easy." DENVER -- Jamie McGinn turned in the biggest play before the game even began, preparing a pregame meal for the cooking-challenged Nathan MacKinnon. Gardner Minshew II Jersey . That pasta and chicken feast fueled the rookie MacKinnon to his first two-goal game and the Colorado Avalanche held off the San Jose Sharks 4-3 on Saturday for their third straight win. "I think Ive got to take a little bit of credit for that," McGinn joked. McGinn chipped in with more than a meal, though, scoring a goal as well. The Avalanche jumped out to a 4-0 lead -- and would need every one to dodge a comeback from San Jose. Semyon Varlamov was at his best late in the game, making several big stops in the waning moments. He finished with 30 saves. "Varly really bailed us out at the end there," MacKinnon said. "We knew theyre a resilient team. Next time we play them, if we get up, weve got to step on the pedal a little bit more." With his two-goal burst, MacKinnon moved past San Joses Tomas Hertl for most points (26) among rookies. Hertl is sidelined after undergoing surgery earlier this week to repair damaged ligaments in his right knee. Think about that rookie scoring race? "A little bit, when it gets announced on the Jumbotron," MacKinnon said. "But thats not my focus." These days, about the only thing MacKinnon cant do is cook. Thats why McGinn stepped in. MacKinnon usually lives in backup goalie Jean-Sebastien Gigueres basement. But Giguere had family in and MacKinnon stayed with McGinn. "So I was cooking this morning," McGinn said. "He said he doesnt know how to cook. Well let that slide." The Avalanche have 56 points at the halfway point of the season, second-most in team history behind the 2000-01 Stanley Cup team. Still, theres plenty of season left as they try to return to the post-season after a three-year drought. "Everybody is pushing hard," first-year coach Patrick Roy said. "Everybody wants to give ourselves a chance to make the playoffs." Erik Johnson scored a fluke goal at 5:45 of the second when the puck bounced past Antti Niemi. That gaffe ended the goaltenders day and frustrated his coach Todd McLellan so much that he inserted backup Alex Stalock, who promptly allowed MacKinnons second goal 14 seconds later to make it a 4-0 game. That didnt make McLellan any happier. "Ive gone after our team in the new year, try to hold them very accountable," McLellan said. "The goaltenders are part of that. Cant keep going toward the forwards or the D men." Joe Pavelski, Patrick Marleau and Logan Couture had goals for the Sharks. Couture made it a one-goal game at 5:44 of the third when he knocked in a loose puck over a sprawled out Varlamov. The Sharks pulled Stalock with just over a minute left for an extra skater, only to struggle to get the puck into Colorados zone. And when they did, Varlamov turned it aside. Jan Hejda was whistled for interference with 4:02 remaining and Pavelski had a chance to tie it, getting open in the slot, but Varlamov stopped it with his chest, along with a rebound. It was quite an entertaining second period for the fans who braved the chill and the snow to show up at the Pepsi Center. The opening part of the period was all Avalanche as McGinn scored off a Sharks turnover, Johnson added another on a knuckleball of a shot that skipped past Niemi and MacKinnon knocked in a wrist shot to stake Colorado to a four-goal lead. On the ensuing faceoff, Andrew Desjardins struck John Mitchell in the groin with his stick, setting off a scuffle at centre ice. That seemed to fire up the listless Sharks, who quickly scored two goals to make it a 4-2 game at the end of the second period. Desjardins said after the game he didnt hit Mitchell on purpose. "Its more like when the guys come together and you try to push the guys hands away and my stick I guess caught him in an unfortunate spot," Desjardins said. Take anything away from the rally that fell short? "We expended or used up a lot of energy to come within one," said McLellan, whose team plays in Chicago on Sunday. "Were in the midst of a tough schedule, played guys down the stretch an awful lot and still (came up) short. We play tomorrow and we used up a lot of gas today." Paul Millsap says its been a long time coming. "Yeah, were due for it," he said. "We got a few (loose) balls. We got a few calls. Things just went our way in foul situations when its been the other team getting breaks." Millsap had 24 points and 11 rebounds, Jeff Teague added 15 points and 10 assists, and the Atlanta Hawks rallied for their third straight win with a 97-92 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night. Kenneth Faried finished with 25 points and Wilson Chandler scored 12 for the Nuggets, who were coming off a dramatic victory Friday at two-time defending champion Miami. Kyle Korver, who hit a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to make it 96-92, had 18 points and Pero Antic added 16 for Atlanta. Denver erased a 21-point deficit in the third quarter to take its first lead at 81-80 lead on Darrell Arthurs two free throws with 7:10 remaining. But Teague hit a 3 with 3:59 remaining that put the Hawks up 89-87 and followed with a long jumper to make it 91-89 at the 1:51 mark. "Every team has big wins," Arthur said in reference to the victory at Miami. "(With) the good teams, its consistent, and we havent been consistent all year. We can beat anybody. We just dont." Ty Lawson, Denvers leading scorer this season, handed out 11 assists, but went 0 for 12 from the field and finished with just two points. Before winning Monday at Utah, the Hawks had dropped from third to eighth in the Eastern Conference during their 1-14 stretch. The Hawks are 3 1/2 games ahead of New York for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot. Atlantas three-game winning streak is its longest since beating the Jazz on Dec. 20. "We knew they were going to make a run, but I think our mindset was just goiing back to being an aggressive team," said DeMarre Carroll, who had 11 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists for the Hawks. Josh Allen Youth Jersey. "I think our biggest thing is we just have to keep staying aggressive for the entire game instead of just for 36 minutes or 40 minutes." Faried gave the Nuggets a 92-91 lead on a three-point play, but they trailed the rest of the way after Antic hit a long jumper over Faried from the left corner and Wilson Chandler missed a 3 that gave Atlanta possession with 30 seconds to go. The Nuggets, who had erased a 14-point deficit Friday in a 102-97 victory at Miami, had won two straight and four of six. After Korvers 3 made it 16-3, Denver coach Brian Shaw called timeout, and the Nuggets went on a 23-15 run, but they trailed 53-37 on Teagues three-point play with 12 seconds left before halftime. Atlanta went ahead by 21 early in the third on Antics 3, but Denver cut the lead to seven on Foyes 3 at the 5-minute mark, and the Nuggets only trailed by six entering the fourth. "Just a case of too little, too late," Shaw said. "We were real lethargic in the first half. Barea during a three-game shooting slump that was getting him booed off his home court with regularity.TORONTO - By now youre more than likely familiar with the stunning transformation of Toronto Raptors star point guard Kyle Lowry, who established himself as one of the leagues premier players at his position last season, but what of his off-court alter ego? On the hardwood Lowry would put the team on his shoulders nightly, blossoming into the undeniable, take-no-prisoners leader that earned him a well-deserved raise this summer. A killer. Off it, he became known to some as Killah, a moniker that actually gained some traction in Torontos famously tight-knit locker room. Players would use the nickname, team employees, even the media eventually gave in. Why not? Who wants to talk to Killah?, hed ask as a post-game scrum would take shape around his locker. It was not an insignificant turn of events. For the first time as a Raptor, the occasionally crusty point guard was beginning to come out of his shell. As he got more comfortable with his role on the team and his place in the organization throughout the campaign, his personality continued to shine through his intentionally coarse exterior. Over the weekend, someone asked Lowry if Killah is making a comeback this season. Nah, not yet, not yet, not yet, he said. Maybe December, January. Then, under his breath, he mumbled, All-Star brea…, cutting off the end of the word with a laugh. If you ask Lowry to list off his goals for this coming season, hell likely do so without making a single reference to himself. First and foremost, hell talk about winning, about getting better as a team, returning to the playoffs and going further than they did a year ago. When he lists off those goals - team goals - hes not being disingenuous. Thats the type of leader hes grown into. But whether hed admit to it or not, Lowry is leaving a block open in the middle of February, hoping to be in New York for what would be his first NBA All-Star Game this winter. And why shouldnt he be? Some are still skeptical of Lowrys NBA rags to riches story. Theyve been burned by the contract year player before. Professional sports is littered with athletes who have taken their game to a new level with a raise on the line, only to regress back to the mean after getting paid. But the alternative is not unprecedented. Lowrys a late bloomer, but bloom he has. Hes following a familiar path, one paved - in part - by his mentor and good friend, recently retired point guard Chauncey Billups. Lowry was in his early 20s when he first met Billups, a meeting set up by his agent Andy Miller, who represents them both. I had always been a big fan of his, Lowry recalled in an exclusive conversation with TSN.ca last week. [Weve known each other] a long time now, but its felt like its been longer than that because hes been such a great mentor and such a big brother to me. Billups was in his prime. A few years removed from captaining the 2003-04 Pistons to an NBA Title, he had finally established himself as one of the leagues top point guards. At the time, the young Lowry had no idea how similarly their NBA careers would unfold. For Billups, the journey from fringe starter to the player we now remember as Mr. Big Shot was an unconventional one. Once a highly-touted third-overall pick by Boston in 1997, the University of Colorado product bounced around, playing for four teams in five years - including a brief and forgettable 29-game stint with the Raptors - before finding a home in Detroit. Lowry remembers being in Billupss home for the first time and seeing a row of framed jerseys on his wall. One for each team he played for. The purpose of the display, Billups told him, was to serve as a constant reminder of what got him from one place to the next and ultimately to where he ended up. What waas that? Perseverance, said Lowry, his primary takeaway from Billupss wall of jerseys. Warren Moon Youth Jersey. Just looking at that and saying, at the end of the day youve got to find that one opportunity and once you get it, take advantage of it. A lot of it is through maturity, said Dwane Casey, who has coached Lowry through his transformation. Chauncey, he went through - I dont know how many teams - before he really hit and Kyles done the same thing. Hes been with a few teams and matured. I think its the right fit, the right teammates, the right coaching staff, the right everything and the right time more than anything else. Both are All-Star guards and theyve kind of gone through the same career path, going through different teams. I dont know what the reasons were for Chauncey being traded as many times as he was before he stuck, but it took a change of scenery and finding the right setting for him to flourish. Billups found that opportunity in Detroit, playing under Larry Brown and with a host of veterans that brought out the very best in him. Lowry has found it in Toronto. At one time, it was one of the last places he expected to find it, but now, its the biggest reason he decided to stick around. The Raptors, like those old Pistons teams, are not built around a prototypical superstar. Theyre a well-balanced, unselfish and hard-nosed group. Lowry is the hub of everything they do. Hes their undisputed leader. He never got that chance in Memphis or in Houston. He may not have been ready for it even if he had. In the NBA, most players are typecast relatively early in their careers...three years in, four years in. Fairly or not, its the reality. What are his limitations? Is he a positive or negative presence in the locker room? How highs his ceiling? The word spreads around the Association and, before you know it, youre labeled, for better or for worse. Very few break that mold once it is shaped. Billups was supposed to be an erratic shooter and decision maker, a draft bust, a role player. Lowry was labeled stubborn, combative and out of shape. Neither was supposed to be a leader. You can accept it or you cant accept it, Lowry said. And one thing about me is, I didnt accept it and Chauncey, he didnt accept it, either. So we had that trait in us, not to accept what people tried to label us as. This summer, Billups made the decision to step away from the game after a remarkable 17-year - and some might argue Hall-of-Fame - career. I knew before anybody, honestly, Lowry said. He told me it was the right time for him, and I believe him. His resume is impressive. Five All-Star games, an All-NBA Second and two Third Team selections, a championship and Finals MVP award. He didnt make his first All-Star team until he was 29-years-old, in his ninth NBA season. Amir Johnson, an 18-year-old rookie out of high school, was teammates with Billups that season. He was the captain, Johnson said of his former Pistons teammate. He was very vocal, he knew how to run the team, he knew how to stay under control when everyone was all over the place, similar to [Lowry]. After last years All-Star snub, Lowry can follow in his mentors footsteps once again. The Raptors point guard, turning 29 in March, is entering his ninth year in line for some overdue recognition. Listening to Lowry speak about his NBA journey, his evolution as a basketball player and as a man, its abundantly clear he has no intention of being a one-hit wonder. Like in most other professions or life in general, theres no blueprint for success in basketball. Lowrys path has been full of unexpected twists and turns but hes finally reached stardom. Where will he go from here? Who wants to talk to Killah? Everybody wants to talk to Killah. Justine Dufour-Lapointe won moguls gold at the Sochi Olympics, while 22-year-old sister Chloe captured silver, and the image of the Montreal sisters holding hands before stepping onto the medal podium will be one of the most enduring images of the Games. Maxime, 25, was 12th in Sochi. Last week, the sisters finished second through fourth in the seasons overall World Cup moguls standings, Justine finishing second, followed by Chloe and Maxime. Justine turned 20 on Tuesday, and had celebrated her birthday with her sisters on Monday in London. "We went on the Harry Potter Tour, I felt like I was 12 years old, I had my balloon, my hat, it was awesome," Justine said. "We had a great dinner after. My sisters always knows how to give me nice birthdays." Kiingsbury, a 21-year-old from Deux-Montagnes, Que. Hydro Flask Fles. finished second to Canadian teammate Alexandre Bilodeau at the Sochi Olympics then claimed his third straight Crystal Globe as the season World Cup winner. Kingsburys mom Julie Thibodeau was by his side for Wednesdays hectic day of appearances. "My mom, she missed me, so she drove from Montreal, picked me up at the airport here," he said. "So its cool to spend two days with her. I didnt see her much at the Olympics and just to see her here, I miss her also." The foursome left their hotel for their first interview at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, and their day wasnt scheduled to end until well after the dinner hour. "Today is our first day, 24 hours in Canada, so I think its starting (to hit us), realizing the impact that we created at the Games," Justine Dufour-Lapointe said. "I think its cool actually. Im really excited of this new title, or this new life. But at some point it wont change who we are. "I think were simple girls, who love normal things like anyone -- we have now this thing around our neck," she added, holding up her Olympic medal. Kingsbury and the sisters know their schedules will be even busier once theyre back in Montreal. Kingsbury is excited about an upcoming appearance at a Montreal Canadiens game. "There are awesome opportunities and were open to them," Maxime said about appearances and potential sponsors. "We just want to make sure were making the right decisions and following our true value like we always did. I think the fuss is all about the attention, but deep down were still the same girls and sticking with family values and what represents us." TORONTO -- Its been a whirlwind couple of months for Mikael Kingsbury that included winning an Olympic silver medal and capturing his third consecutive overall World Cup title. The Colorado Avalanche have elected to take centre Ryan OReilly to salary arbitration. Odell Beckham Jr Womens Jersey . The club had until 5pm et on Sunday to file and has decided to bring the case before a mediator. OReilly made $6.5 million last season in the second year of a back-end-loaded contract. The deal arose out of an offer sheet OReilly signed with the Calgary Flames prior to the lockout-shortened 2012-13 NHL season. The Avalanche decided to match the offer instead of losing OReillys services and as such must now make him a qualifying offer of $6.5 million to retain his rights. OReilly is slated to become a restricted free agent on July 1. The other 29 NHL clubs are still eligible to sign OReilly to an offer-sheet between July 1 and July 5 despite the filing, a change that was made in the collective bargaining agreement signed in January, 2013. The 23-year-old scored 28 goals and added 36 assists in 80 games with the Avalanche in 2013-14. Originally selected by the Avalanche in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, OReilly has scored 73 goals and 118 assists in 345 career games with the club. An arbitration hearing between OReilly and the Avalanche would likely occur in late July. Bernie Kosar Youth Jersey . Hes even holding a bat on one of his 2014 baseball cards. LAS VEGAS -- Uriah Hall limped away from UFC 175 with a win and a toe pointing in another direction. Doug Kotar Jersey . The 29-year-old middleweight from New York City broke his toe in the first round against Brazils Thiago Santos on Saturday night. And things got more gruesome after that. The crowd at the Mandalay Bay Events Center first noticed the injury when the cameras zoomed in on the disfigured toe after the first round. There was an audible groan around the arena when it was shown on the big screens. Hall came out for the second round, with the top of the toe next to his big toe sticking up almost vertically. "I remember throwing a front kick and he blocked it but I didnt realize I had broken my toe," Hall said later. "I was putting it in my head that it wasnt broken but I kept looking down and seeing it. I tried to pop it back in after the round ended before the (Nevada State Athletic) Commission inspectors came over and saw it but they were too quick for me. "In the moment you just feel numb and luckily that pushes you on in the fight. But in between rounds it creeps into your mind that you should stop so Im very thankful for my coaches who kept my head in the game and supported me the whole way through. . . . In that third round I just thought to myself this is my time to prove to everyone that I have what it takes. I left it all out there." The ringside physician spoke to Hall after the second round but let him finish. By the end of the fight, the dislodged bone had poked a hole through the skin. Hall (10-4) won by unanimous decision, admitting that he could feel the bone shifting in and out of his skin as the bout wore on. He limped out of the cage with his arm around a cornermans shoulder. His toe was pointed in a different direction. "It was a pretty nasty break," UFC president Dana White said by way of understatement. Hall was taken to hospital after the fight, tweeting pictures of medical staff at work put his toe back where it should be. He also tweeted an X-ray of the broken toe with the message: "If youre not going after your dreams, you just exist." He added the hashtag .toemuchtoohandle. Hall won rave reviews from White for his early performances on Season 17 of "The Ultimate Fighter." But he was beaten in the finale of the reality TV show and lost his first two fights in the UFC, leading White to question his mental toughness. "It was good to see him let his hand go tonight and fight through a broken toe," said White. "Hes back, I like it." The win was the second straight for Hall, following a first-round TKO of Chris (The Crippler) Leben. Daniel Jones Jersey . BRASILIA, Brazil -- Ghana threw Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng out of its World Cup squad for disciplinary reasons on Thursday, plunging the African team into further chaos ahead of its decisive group-stage match against Portugal. Just a day after seeming to resolve a possible player mutiny over World Cup bonus payments, the Ghana Football Association released two separate statements saying two of the countrys stars had been "suspended ... indefinitely from the Black Stars with immediate effect." Muntari was suspended "in the wake of his unprovoked physical attack on an executive committee member of the GFA and a management member of the Black Stars, Mr. Moses Armah" on Tuesday, one statement read. The other statement said Boateng was dropped from the squad because of "vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah" during a training session this week. "Boateng has since showed no remorse for his actions which has resulted in the decision," the statement added. Both players have had their World Cup accreditation withdrawn. Boateng, who plays for German club Schalke, told German newspaper Sport Bild that he accepted his suspension and wished his teammates well for Thursdays game against Portugal -- "but no one should think that I insulted the coach or did anything wrong." Boateng said he and Muntari had been joking with each other during training Wednesday. The coach asked why they were laughing, and then sent Boateng to the dressing room, he added. "After training I went to the coach and asked him if he had a minute for me. I asked him what he had agaainst me," Boateng was quoted as saying. Carl Banks Jersey. "Then he started shouting at me." Ghana, a quarterfinalist in 2010, must beat Portugal in Brasilia on Thursday to stand any chance of reaching the second round from Group G. Muntari was suspended for the match after collecting two yellow cards. Ghanas World Cup campaign was already in turmoil following a row over appearance-fee payments that squad members had been promised but had not yet received. The countrys cash-strapped federation had been forced to ask FIFA for an advance on the $8 million prize money it is guaranteed from playing at the World Cup to pay outstanding debts to players. FIFA said Wednesday that Ghanas request was "under evaluation." Ghanas deputy sports minister earlier had said that as much as $3 million in cash was being flown into Brazil from the West African nation to finally pay the bonuses to the unhappy players, averting a possible player strike. World Cup prize money -- which ranges in Brazil from $8 million for being knocked out in the group stage to $35 million for winning the title -- is normally paid after the tournament. Ghana midfielder Christian Atsu dismissed fears the team would boycott its final group game in Brasilia over the bonus-payment row. "We are not going to say we are not going to play because of the money," Atsu said. "We love our nation and we are going to play for our nation." Appiah said Wednesday that he had been having "sleepless nights" this week, and also said he had patched up his differences with Boateng after a training-ground altercation.
