VANCOUVER -- The struggling Vancouver Canucks cant seem to catch a break on the injury front. Pernell McPhee Redskins Jersey . The team announced Thursday that centre Mike Santorelli has undergone surgery to repair a torn labrum and will be out five to six months, effectively ending his season. The news came after assistant coach Mike Sullivan told reporters defenceman Kevin Bieksa wont accompany the Canucks on their five-game road trip that leads into the Olympic break. "Its more than (a maintenance day)," said Sullivan of Bieksas absence from practice. "He is not going to join us on the trip. "We dont know the details of it yet. When we get more information well update you." On top of that, fellow defenceman Christopher Tanev is out with whats believed to be a broken hand. Captain Henrik Sedin has missed the last five games with an upper-body injury, although Sullivan expects him back soon. "Hes still day-to-day, but I believe he will join us on this trip and we are hopeful that well get him at some point here," said Sullivan. It all adds up to a very busy sick bay for a team that has just four wins in its last 15 games (4-8-3), including just two victories in regulation. The loss of Santorelli hurts up front as the Canucks have been held to two goals or less in nine of their last 10 games. The 28-year-old, who was injured Jan. 16, had 10 goals and 18 assists in 49 games this season. A native of nearby Burnaby, B.C., Santorelli impressed head coach John Tortorella in training camp and became one his most trusted players the first half of the season. "After consultation with our team physicians, we determined Mike would require a procedure on his shoulder," Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said in statement. "The surgery was successful and we expect a full recovery." Santorelli -- who can become an unrestricted free agent in July -- had been a journeyman in the league until appearing to find a home with the Canucks. He was put on waivers by the Florida Panthers last season and picked up by the Winnipeg Jets before signing with Vancouver. The loss of Bieksa, who has four goals and 15 assists in 55 games this season, is also a significant blow. To take the 32-year-olds place on the blue-line, the Canucks recalled defenceman Frank Corrado of the American Hockey Leagues Utica Comets. The 20-year-old played six games for Vancouver earlier this season but has yet to register a point. Meanwhile, Tortorella still has one game to go in his six-game suspension for trying to get into the Calgary Flames locker-room after that infamous first-period line brawl Jan. 18. The fiery head coach, who had been on his best behaviour since coming to Vancouver prior to that incident, will sit out Friday games against the Winnipeg Jets before returning Monday against the Detroit Red Wings. What he will find is a team with a 27-19-9 record thats in a dogfight for one of the two Western Conference wild-card spots, a position the Canucks arent accustomed to after winning division titles five of the last six years. "We have to be a resilient group. We understand the circumstance, everybodys looking for the result," said Sullivan. "Resilience and attitude is a big part of having success in this league, because inevitably, most teams go through adversity where they lose a few games or things dont go their way, they hit the injury bug, whatever it may be -- sometimes its all of the above." In Europe, top teams seem to be largely happy with their squads after spending nearly $1 billion in the off-season. And although English league clubs are unlikely to splash cash in January, Arsenal and Chelsea could be tempted to strengthen their squads with new strikers. http://www.redskinsfansproshop.com/Redskins+Jonathan+Allen+Rush+Jersey.html?cat=1334 . Raonic, the No. 8 seed from Thornhill, Ont., fired 11 aces and did not have a double-fault as he comfortably advanced to the third round at the Masters Series event.ST. LOUIS - Rookie Greg Robinson has been getting double duty at guard and tackle in training camp for the St. Louis Rams. The No. 2 pick has been equal to the task. "They need me to cross train," Robinson said Tuesday night after practicing in 90-degree heat. "Im just trying my best to learn it all." Robinson projects as a main tackle eventually, but being versatile is always a plus. He admits its been difficult mentally at times. Since getting drafted, Robinson has been quizzed about the complexity of the Rams offence compared with Auburns straightforward schemes. Hes getting a little weary of it, calling it "the question of the whole camp." "They expect me to know it and Ive been working hard and Im coming along," Robinson said. "Theres a few things I dont remember, but Im coming along well and starting to play a little faster." The Rams had a need early in camp with left tackle Jake Long and guard Rodger Saffold rehabbing from injuries. Even though both likely will play in the third preseason game at Cleveland, Robinson will be alternating spots again. Hell start at left guard and move to left tackle after Longs day is done. Saffold, whos been hampered by a stinger in his left shoulder, can relate to Robinsons challenge. Hes settling in at right guard this season, but last year he had five starts at right guard, three starts at right tackle and one at left tackle. "I just hope that its good for him to be able to see the big picture," Saffold said. "The more you know, the better understanding, the better you react to blitzes and other things that you can see out of the corner of your eye, which is great. Derrius Guice Jersey. " Robinson left Auburn after two seasons and at age 21 is the second-youngest player in camp. The Rams are factoring in the youth element, anticipating hell grow into his role, but hes already good enough to start at two spots. "A lot of people say I look better at tackle than guard, but thats all opinions," Robinson said. "Im just trying my best to learn." Saffolds injury is to the same shoulder that brought him back to St. Louis after signing a free agent deal with Oakland, but then failing his physical. He said hes felt ready for a couple of weeks, but that the teams medical staff is playing it safe. He was hurt in practice when he got hit from two angles at the same time. He did individual work Tuesday. "It was nowhere as bad as the last time," Saffold said. "I know they want to be super cautious and thats fine," Saffold said. Ready to get to work, too. "I feel in shape, I feel rested, good all the way around," he said. "Im just itching to hit somebody else." Notes: Former Rams LB Isiah Robertson was among those watching practice on the next to last day of training camp. "What an honour to have him in the building," coach Jeff Fisher said. ... DT Michael Brockers returned to practice from an ankle injury, but linebacker James Laurinaitis (ankle) remained sidelined. KAMLOOPS, B. A.J. Derby Dolphins Jersey .C. -- B.C. Lions head coach Mike Benevides wants his players to embrace the role of being Grey Cup hosts. He told them as much before CFL training camps got going Sunday. "I was pretty honest about it. You know what? Its additional pressure," said Benevides. "Every team across the country is saying the same thing -- we want to win a championship. Im not going to be dishonest and say Well its at home so its no big deal. It is a big deal." The Lions started a string of three straight host teams winning the title in their own backyards with their victory at B.C. Place Stadium in 2011 and will be looking to make it a four-peat for host cities this November. "We want to win it in front of our fans," Benevides continued. "Last time it was here thats exactly what occurred, and thats what we get paid to do. Distraction, focus, motivation -- call it whatever you want. Thats the No. 1 goal." The Lions have not won a playoff game since raising the Grey Cup three years ago, but running back Andrew Harris said he believes they have the horses to get it down in 2014. "The expectation for us every year is to be in the Grey Cup. Obviously theres maybe a little more added pressure, but last time it was here we won and that was a great year for us," said the Winnipeg native. "Were looking to do the same and I definitely think looking around and seeing the guys that we have solid chance to do that." That chance could rest heavily on Travis Lulays surgically repaired shoulder. The Lions quarterback was injured during last seasons 11-7 campaign and returned for their playoff loss before going under the knife. Lulay said Sunday "it remains to be seen" if he will be ready to go when B.C. opens its regular season on June 28. "Im still in a stage where camps going to be a continued progression for me, but it has steady upward progression throughout the off-season," said Lulay. "Im actually really anxious to see how it recovers on a day-to-day basis coming out here." B.C. traded for veteran quarterback Kevin Glenn at the CFL draft as an insurance policy, and while Benevides and Lulay were both adamant the Lions No. 1 quarterback is on schedule, the head coach added its his job to make sure his star gets back to 100 per cent. "All these guys that are elite athletes, theyre champions and MVPs," said Benevides. "You have to make sure you help them in understanding the overall picture. Hes intelligent, he understands it, hes been through this before but theres no doubt that well have various conversations and discuss it back and forth." Added Lulay: "Sometimes you think you can be Superman and overcome some of that stuff. Managing expectations is one of the biggest parts of coming off an injury and thats one of the things Ive learned and you have to learn to deal with that." The Toronto Argonauts won the Grey Cup as hosts in 2012, while the Saskatchewan Roughriders took the title on the Prairies in 2013. Both teams loaded up through trades and free agency in the off-season leading up to the CFLs marquee event, but the Lions had a quiet winter by comparison. What B.C. does have is a lot of fresh faces at camp both on the field and the sidelines. A number of veteran players were either traded, retired or moved on through free agency, while the club also has new offensive and defensive co-ordinators. Khari Jones has been brought in to kick-start an offence that was criticized for being too predictable, while Mark Washington was promoted to run the defence after six seasons coaching the secondary. "We have a lot of open positions," Benevides said of the competitions for spots at camp. "Were going to have a young team and we have to evaluate and find that talent. "Our football team is going to play fast. Everything we do is fast." Apart from a lot of new blood and fresh schemes, the Lions who have been around awhile believe theyre also wiser as hosts because of what they went through in 2011 after starting that season 0-5. "The biggest thing for us is just coming through adversity and staying on that one track and definitely building as a team," said Harris. "I think we did that in 2011 and we have some components this year to make that happen again. Its being persistent and staying at it. Its a full 18-game season and you never know how it ends." Benevides was the defensive co-ordinator with that championship team and will be looking for his first playoff win as a head coach in a season he hopes will culminate with a victory for the Lions in Vancouver on Nov. 30. "Its a long, long journey. Its a long, long season," he said. "Its about making critical plays at critical times and winning that critical game. "Nobody can tell you how the script is going to be written, but its going to be written and someones going to stand on the podium." Notes: The Lions had a meeting with CFLPA representative Paul McCallum before Sundays first practice, a session the veteran kicker said helped clear the air of any questions players might have with regards to the threat of a strike. The leagues collective bargaining agreement expired on Thursday night. ... The Lions first pre-season game is scheduled for June 13 on the road against the Edmonton Eskimos. You put a young player with potential in a winning environment where there is veteran leadership, outstanding coaching and management and a way that things are done and its a wonderful environment for growth, improvement in a climate of constant accountability and expectation of achievement/production. http://www.officialauthenticdolphinsshop.com/authentic-robert-quinn-jersey.html .The league also seems to have a fairly active Twitter account www.twitter.com/bikinihockey that features the description “We provide a positive alternative to the hockey community and a venue for adult female hockey athletes to continue in their sport. MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Memphis Grizzlies signed Vince Carter on Saturday, looking to bolster their outside shooting with an eight-time All-Star who spent last season as a Dallas Mavericks reserve. The 37-year-old guard agreed to a multiyear contract. Financial terms were not disclosed. The Grizzlies lacked 3-point threats last season. The 6-foot-6 Carter gives the Grizzlies a replacement for free agent Mike Miller, who said on Twitter on Friday night he was "just informed the Grizz are going in another direction." Carter averaged 11.9 points in 81 games, all off the bench, last season for Dallas. He has averaged 20.2 points over his 16-year career. He averaged at least 20 points for 10 straight seasons from 1999-09. Memphis averaged 4.9 3-pointers a game during the regular season, low in the NBA. The 34-year-old Miller shot 45.5 per cent from 3-poinnt range and averaged 7. Daniel Kilgore Dolphins Jersey. 3 points last season as one of the Grizzlies top outside threats. Carter moved into 25th place on the NBAs career scoring list last season, and the player once known best as a dunker is now seventh all-time in 3-pointers made (1,809). His 146 3-pointers last season were the most of any NBA player off the bench. In Dallas first-round playoff loss to eventual champion San Antonio, Carter shot 15 of 31 from beyond the arc and made a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give Dallas a 109-108 victory in the third game of the series. Carter has averaged 4.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 1,148 career regular-season games with Toronto, the Nets, Orlando, Phoenix and Dallas. He averaged 24.4 minutes a game last season. SAN JOSE, Calif. Javier Baez Jersey . - One game after Matt Nieto broke a long drought with an empty-net goal, he delivered one that was much more important.Nieto scored the tiebreaking goal with 11.5 seconds remaining to lead the San Jose Sharks to their first consecutive wins in more than a month with a 2-1 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.Even though it didnt seem like much, it was huge confidence-wise, Nieto said of the empty-net goal Saturday. You know, they come in bunches and Ive been patient all year, sticking to my game. Im glad to see its paying off.Marc-Edouard Vlasic also scored and Antti Niemi made 28 saves for the Sharks, who last won back-to-back games Oct. 26-28 against Anaheim and Colorado. Both two-game winning streaks followed skids of four games as San Jose has gotten off to a slow start this season. This team has always been streaky, forward Tommy Wingels said. When we win a couple, streaks build on top of each other. This team can reel off five, six, seven, eight in a row. Thats what were going to try to do here.Sean Couturier scored for the Flyers, who have dropped eight straight road games for their longest skid away from home since March 1998.Steve Mason made 25 saves as Philadelphia lost for the ninth time in 10 games.I think we controlled the game and played one of our best games of the year, captain Claude Giroux said. The results wont show how we played. I think we are in a tough stretch right now. When things like this happen with 12 seconds to go, we have to stick together.Nieto forced a turnover at centre ice on the game-winning play, leading Patrick Marleau in on a partial breakaway. Mason made the initial save but was knocked out of the play by teammate Braydon Coburn as Wingels went for the rebound.Nieto then knocked the loose puck into the empty net for his second goal in two games. He hadnt scored since the season opener before getting one Saturday against Anaheim. When youre not scoring, the general rule of thumb is go to the net and good things will happen, Nieto said. I know I tried to get there as fast as I can and luckily the puck bounced right there for me.Mason had no chance to stop Nietos game-winner as he was far out of position. They got two or three whacks at it and I was able to make the first save but was put in a position where I couldnt get back and make the second or third save, he said. So the second or third one went in. We just made a mistake at the wrong time. The Sharks played most of the third period without centre Logan Couture, who went to the dressing room after a hard collision with Michael Raffl and did not return. Couture went through the concussion protocol and will be re-evaluated Wednesday. The Flyers got off to a fast start on the road for a change, controlling the play in the opening period and taking the lead when Couturier beat Niemi with a shot from the top of the circle on a power play early in the first. That marked the first time in 12 road games this season that Philadelphia scored the first goal. The Sharks found their footing in the second and finally got the equalizer late when Vlasic capped a pretty passing sequence with his third goal of the season. Marleau started it with a pass out of the defensive zone to Couture near centre ice. Couture then fed Wingels along the boards and he quickly fed a rushing Vlasic, who beat Mason with a wrist shot.NOTES: The Sharks have one loss and two ties in their past 16 games against Philadelphia. ... Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn.ca. Hi Kerry, Since the trapezoid was introduced, I have yet to see a goalie be penalized for playing the puck outside of the trapezoid. Jonathan Bernier came close last night. He was so concerned with not getting a penalty that he allowed a goal to be scored! I know he would have been penalized if he played the puck with his stick. Could he have kicked the puck over the goal line and then played it with his stick without being penalized? Wayne Sharp (son of Jim from Ann St.) Hi Wayne, I share many fond memories with your father as a couple of kids in the old neighborhood in Sarnia, Ontario. You might not have seen a goalie penalized for playing the puck outside the restricted area, but once the trapezoid rule was introduced I called it on two separate occasions. One time, the correct call was made. The other time, I flat out blew the call. I dont remember the goalie that was guilty and properly convicted, but I sure remember the time I penalized Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres unjustly. This further verifies my contention that referees never remember any of the good calls they made; only the ones they missed! The blown call happened in Buffalo when Miller came well out of his goal crease to stop the puck just ahead of the goal line. Miller carried the puck back toward the safety of his cage and as he approached the trapezoid two feet from where it T-eed into the goal line, Miller slid the puck over the line. It appeared from my position that the goalie maintained contact with the puck as it travelled on his stick from ahead of the goal line, through the unplayable area and into the safety of the trapezoid. I immediately raised my arm, stopped play and assessed a delay of game penalty to Ryan Miller. Kyle Schwarber Jersey. . Miller argued vehemently, but to no avail, that he had purposely removed his stick from the puck as it travelled through no mans land and then re-connected with the puck in the trapezoid. Miller was still hot under the mask at the next stoppage of play, so I solicited his honest take on the play. Once Miller advised me that he had lifted his stick blade and moved it in sync just above the puck until it crossed the trapezoid line, his argument was justified. Even though it all made sense at this point, the information I received was too little, too late! I then suggested that if the goalie intended to pass the puck to himself outside the trapezoid he should lift his stick clearly away from the puck so another referee would not be fooled in the same way I had been. When I further explained my misperception of the play to the Sabres goalie coach, he told me that Ryan should not have run that risk by keeping his stick so close to the puck and he would speak with him about it. Jonathan Bernier would have surely been assessed a delay of game penalty last night had he decided to play the puck in any manner, including by kicking it with his skate. The hesitation that Bernier demonstrated to avoid playing the puck in the restricted area prevented him from retreating to his goal crease in time to properly defend against the shot and resulted in a goal. Wayne, Rule 27.8 (Restricted Area) defines the position of the puck and not the goalkeepers skates as the determining factor. The one caveat to that is unless the goalkeeper plays the puck while maintaining skate contact with his goal crease. Given the size and reach of many of the goalkeepers in the game today maintaining contact with the goal crease and playing the puck outside the restricted area is a distinct possibility. J. Austin Corbett Jersey .P. Arencibias career trajectory continues to fall. On Tuesday, the Texas Rangers sent down the 28-year-old catcher to Triple-A after a rough start to the season. Arencibia was the Rangers Opening Day catcher this season, but is hitting just .133 with one home run and six runs batted in over 20 games. This is Arencibias first year in Texas after a four-year stint with the Toronto Blue Jays that ended on uneasy terms. Arencibia had a .194 batting average last season and was granted free agency. NASHVILLE -- Geno Auriemma and UConn reached the top of womens college basketball in unprecedented fashion. After winning a record ninth national championship -- they stand alone. The Huskies reached the pinnacle in style, routing Notre Dame in the first NCAA basketball championship game featuring undefeated teams. Auriemma and his Huskies now have one more title than Pat Summitt and Tennessee for most all-time, and they did it in the Hall of Famers backyard. The Huskies had struggled recently against the Irish, but not Tuesday night, cruising to a 79-58 win. "It means weve done something no one else has ever done," Auriemma said. "Flattered and grateful and all the things that come with this kind of accomplishment. ... Im more proud of the legacy that exists and what Connecticut basketball is as opposed to the number of championships." Breanna Stewart, who was The Associated Press Player of the Year, scored 21 points to lead the Huskies (40-0) while Stefanie Dolson added 17 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists. Auriemma took out his senior centre with a minute left and the game well in hand with the pair embracing in a long hug. "We beat a great, great team," Auriemma said. "Notre Dame is a great team. For them to have the season they had and lose their starting centre and to do what they did, I cant say enough about their players, coaching staff and it took everything we have. I knew if we played great wed have a chance to win." The victory also meant that UConn is now the centre of the college basketball world with both the mens and womens teams winning the championship in the same year again. The mens team beat Kentucky in the title game Monday night. This pair of victories came a decade after the Huskies became the only Division I school to accomplish the feat. "I couldnt be prouder of what the men did last night," Auriemma said. Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw congratulated the UConn coach when they shook hands after the game. "I said something like, I thought we were playing the Miami Heat for a while you guys are just that good. What a great season, you know things like that," McGraw said. "I thought ... LeBron was the only thing they were missing." While the names change at UConn, from Rebecca Lobo to Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore and now Stewart, Auriemma has been the constant, winning nine titles in only 20 seasons -- including the last two. Hes never lost in a national championship game. "Congratulations to the UConn Huskies for winning the 2014 NCAA National Chammpionship!," Summitt said in a statement emailed to The Associated Press. Armani Watts Chiefs Jersey. "My compliments also to coach Geno Auriemma for winning his ninth national title. He has accomplished this feat in record time." It was the fifth unbeaten season for Auriemma and UConn and the first time the Huskies went 40-0 -- matching Baylor as the only schools to accomplish that feat. The victory was also Connecticuts 46th straight dating back to last seasons NCAA tournament title run. Its the third longest streak in school history -- well short of the NCAA record 90 straight they won. The loss was Notre Dames third in the title game in the past four years. Kayla McBride finished off her stellar career with 21 points to lead the Irish, who were looking for their first championship since 2001. "Obviously we wanted to finish this season with a championship," said Irish freshman Taya Reimer, who replaced Achonwa in the starting lineup. "Right now, it is hard to think about. It hurts a lot." After proving to be no challenge for the Huskies during the first 15 years of the rivalry which began in 1995, Notre Dame had owned the series lately, winning seven of the previous nine meetings. UConn though has won the last two, eliminating Notre Dame in the Final Four last season before topping them in the championship game this year. The former Big East rivals played an entertaining first half in the highly anticipated matchup that womens basketball hoped could transcend the sport. The programs dont care for each other and the coaches added to the drama of the game with their verbal sparring on Monday. But it was Auriemma who got the last word again. Even with the loss, it was a record-setting season for the Irish. Notre Dame lost Skylar Diggins to graduation and changed conferences to the ACC. Neither mattered as they ran through their opponents, winning by an average of 25.6 points while taking both the conference regular season and tournament championships. The Irish lost senior Natalie Achonwa to a torn ACL in the regional final win over Baylor. Notre Dame wore warmup shirts with Achonwas nickname "Ace" below her No. 11. The team played inspired basketball in the Final Four win over Maryland where Notre Dame outrebounded the Terps by a record margin. The Irish couldnt muster a similar effort against UConn. The Huskies outrebounded the Irish 54-31 and held them to a season-low in points. "They got comfortable," McBride said. "They got into a rhythm, and it just went downhill from there." Sam Bradford Jersey .com) - Pavel Datsyuk and Gustav Nyquist both scored in the shootout as the Detroit Red Wings denied the Minnesota Wilds comeback bid with a 5-4 win on Monday. After Zach Parise missed high for Minnesota, Datsyuk was on point with his backhander as he lifted the puck over Darcy Kuempers glove and into the net. Petr Mrazek stayed with Mikko Koivu and stopped his attempts before Nyquist swerved in from the right side, caught Kuemper moving and slid the puck between the netminders pads for the win. Nyquist finished with a goal and an assist, Teemu Pulkkinen scored his first NHL goal and Jonathan Ericsson and Xavier Ouellet also scored for the Red Wings, who won their fifth straight game Henrik Zetterberg tallied three assists and Mrazek made 34 saves in the win. Parise scored twice, Thomas Vanek had a goal and an assist and Koivu also scored for the Wild, who have dropped two straight. Kuemper made 14 saves after taking over for Devan Dubnyk, who allowed four goals on just 10 shots. Trailing 4-1 in the third, the Wild got within a goal after Parise skated behind the defense up the left side and shot the puck into the net at 6:01, then Vanek scored on a backhander four minutes later for a 4-3 game. Ericssons clear attempt from behind the net was knocked down by Parise in front. Mrazek made the initial stop, but Parise knocked in his own rebound for a tie game with 6:39 remaining. Early in the extra session, Mrazek made a sharp blocker save on Parises wrister off a 2-on-1. Each goaltender made three saves in overtime. Detroit opened the scoring 9:09 into the contest on Pulkkinens milestone marker. Stephen Weiss skated up to the right circle and backhanded a pass to Pulkkinen, who ripped a shot from the slot past the blocker of Dubnyk. Seven seconds into a Detroit penalty, Koivu tied the game with a wrister through the pads of Mrazek at 13:22. The Red Wings reclaimed the lead just over a minute later on Ericssons blast from the left point. Nyquist made it a 3-1 game by deflecting Nicklas Kronwalls point shot under the glove of Dubnyk for a power-play goal 3:41 into the second. Ouellet jumped on a loose puck in the high slot and snapped a shot that was deflected off Wild forward Justin Fontaines skate for a three-goal Detroit lead at 7:25. Despite a tough year in which he lost his No. Will Redmond Chiefs Jersey . 1 status and was unable to prevent a late season collapse, James Reimer said he wants to put the past behind him and is looking forward to spending the next two years in a Maple Leaf uniform. “Im excited about going forward for the next two years with them,” Reimer said on TSN 1050 Monday. “Im really pumped to be here for another two years.” Relegated to back-up duty following an impressive 2012-13 season in which he led the Leafs to their first playoff berth in eight years, the 26-year-old is hopeful the relationship between him and the organization is improving. “I think last year was a tough year for everyone,” Reimer said. “Over the course of the summer and now theyve done a great job of communicating with me.” Following a solid start to the season, both Reimer and the team struggled down the stretch and dropped 12 out of their last 14 games to miss the playoffs. In the midst of the collapse, the goaltender and his head coach had conflicting statements following a tough loss to the Red Wings in which Reimer allowed three goals on 34 shots. “I thought he was okay, you know, just okay,” Carlyle said post-game, to which Reimer replied: “He said just okay? I thought I was good.” The goaltenders agent, Ray Petkau added fuel to the fire tweeting: “As is customary in Toronto, when your team plays poor defensively game after game, you blame your goalie,” before clarifying that the tweet was not in response to Carlyles comments. Despite the perceived rift, Reimer said the incident is in the past and he is ready to move forward. “I havent talked to him since the end of the year, but as far as I know, its fine,” Reimer said in reference to Carlyle. “I think that whole situation was blown out of proportion…Im looking forward to this season I dont foresee any issues whatsoever. “Maybe I should start wearing sunglasses behind the bench,” Reimer jokingly said in reference to a frustrated look he gave Carlyle after being pulled early on in a game that also generated attention. “That situation was probably blown out of proportion.” Addressing rumours that surfaced following the season that had him requesting a trade, the netminder said events over the off-season along with the hiring of Brendan Shanahan gave him confidence that the organization was heading in the right direction. “Thats not the case now, thats for sure…At the end of the year, I thought the opportunity was over, that the door was closed,” Reimer said. “But over the summer, it became clear that this is definitely the place that I want to be.” Reimer on returning, relationship with Carlyle Breeland Speaks Chiefs Jersey . McClain hasnt practiced since coming out of last weeks game at Tennessee with a groin injury. He was listed as doubtful for the Rams when Dallas (1-1) released its practice report Friday. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on a weekly radio appearance Friday that McClain, who has 22 tackles, wants to play and thinks he might play. But Jones also called the linebacker "doubtful." When talking to reporters Friday, even McClain sounded unsure of his status. "I dont know. Ive been able to do what theyve asked me to do," McClain said. "Im getting better. Ill do whatever they ask me to do." Linebacker Justin Durant will miss his second game in a row with a groin injury. Receiver Dez Bryant was listed as questionable after limited participation in practice for the second day in a row. He hurt his shoulder against the Titans last week. Coach Jason Garrett said he believes in players being at practice in some way to determine if they can play in the game. At the same time, the coach left open at least a slight possibility of McClain being able to play Sunday. "We dont have these hard and fast rules. Hes in the meetings and hes participating in the meetings. So mentally and emotionally hes getting himself ready to play," Garrett said. "Well see what hes physically able to do." If McClain doesnt play, his most likely replacement would be Anthony Hitchens, the fourth-round drraft pick who would slide over from weakside linebacker. Demarcus Robinson Chiefs Jersey. Hitchens started against the Titans last week, but was in for only eight defensive plays. Hitchens said he didnt know how much he would play Sunday. "The more you know, the more comfortable you play, so Im just trying to learn as much as I can right now," Hitchens said. "(McClain) is a good football player. Everyone knows that. The next guy in better step up and carry the load." Keith Smith, a linebacker on the practice squad, took part in practice Friday, and Garrett said it could be necessary to activate him for Sundays game. "Weve been working some different combinations as the week has gone on," Garrett said. LOS ANGELES -- Hanley Ramirez hit a three-run homer in the 12th inning to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night. Lee Stempniak Jersey . Dee Gordon hit a two-out single against Blake Parker (1-1), stole his major league-leading 51st base and came home when Ramirez drove a 1-0 pitch into the Dodgers bullpen in left field for his 12th homer after a full-count walk to Justin Turner. Jamey Wright (4-2) allowed two hits over two innings to get the victory and help the Dodgers increase their NL West lead over San Francisco to 3 1-2 games. Junior Lake pushed a bunt single past the right of the mound with one out in the Cubs seventh and came all the way around on a double to right-centre by Arismendy Alcantara, tying the score 2-all. It was the third hit of the game for the switch-hitting rookie. Teammate Starlin Castro also had three hits, including an RBI single in the first. Matt Kemp gave the NL West-leading Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the fourth against left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada with a drive into the pavilion seats in left-centre after a leadoff walk to Ramirez. It was the 12th homer this season and fourth in five games for the two-time All-Star, who has four homers and 12 RBIs in 11 games since manager Don Mattingly shifted him from left field to right and Yasiel Puig from right to centre. Hyun-Jin Ryu allowed two runs and nine hits through seven innings and struck out six. The left-hander, working on five days rest, was lifted for a pinch-hitter after 108 pitches. That pinch-hitter was Yasiel Puig, who didnt start because of a sore left hamstring. He singled leading off the seventh, but was picked off by right-hander Brian Schlitter. The original ruling by umpire David Rackley was safe, but a replay challenge by Cubs manager Rick Renteria got the decision overturned. Wada allowed two runs and six hits over 5 2-3 innings and struck out six in his fourth major league start. The Dodgers are 12-5 in games started by opponents rookies, including Fridays 8-2 loss to Kyle Hendricks. TRAINERS ROOM Cubs: Right-hander Kyuji Fujikawa, who has yet to pitch for Chicago this season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, is scheduled to throw an inning for Triple-A Iowa on Monday. The club has yet to decide whether he will be reinstated from the 60-day disabled list on Tuesday. Dodgers: Lefty Paul Maholms first season with the Dodgers ended Saturday when he was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The 10-year veteran was injured during the seventh inning of Fridays game while covering first base on a grounder behind the bag by Alcantata. ON DECK Cubs: Right-hander Edwin Jackson (5-11, 5.79 ERA) is 0-4 with a 7.39 ERA in seven starts since beating Pittsburgh June 20 at Wrigley Field. Dodgers: Right-hander Josh Beckett (6-5, 2.74 ERA) looks for his first victory at Dodger Stadium since May 13, when he beat Miami 7-1 for his first win of 2014. LOUIS -- Brett Gardners leaping catch in the 11th inning gave the New York Yankees life. Patient at-bats and their first hit since the fifth inning put them over the top. "I just tried to get back there as fast as I could," Gardner said of his catch at the top of the left field wall that denied Yadier Molina of at least extra bases and perhaps a game-ending two-run homer in the Yankees 6-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in 12 innings Monday. "It was an easy play, just go back and make sure I get the ball in the glove before my back hits the wall." Brian Roberts bases loaded single was the go-ahead hit in a three-run 12th fueled by two walks and a hit batter. The Yankees won for the fourth time in extra innings on the season, three of them in the last six games. "Its a grind," Gardner said. "But weve been playing pretty well and we seem to really stay focused." Pinch-hitter Alfonso Soriano and Brendan Ryan each added an RBI for the Yankees, who took the opener of a three-game interleague series for their third straight win. Alfredo Aceves (1-2) worked two scoreless innings and David Robertson earned his 11th save in 12 chances. "At that point, youre just trying to get the guy in," Roberts said. "You need to be selective and find ways to win." Jon Jay had an RBI double in the 12th for the Cardinals, who lost for the third time in 12 games. "Just a really bad day," reliever Randy Choate said. "I felt fine coming in, just didnt have good stuff." A standing-room crowd of 47,311, the third-largest at 9-year-old Busch Stadium, showed up to see an opponent making only its second appearance in St. Louis since losing to the Cardinals in the 1964 World Series. The enthusiasm did not appear to be dampened by a 61-minute weather delay -- for rain that did not materialize -- before the first pitch. Cardinals pitchers retired 20 of 21 batters before the 12th, when Choate (0-2) faced five batters and four reached safely. Five Yankees relievers were stingy, too, permitting two hits in seven innings. "It comes down to doing little things and getting big hits," St. Louis manager Mike Matheny said. "Thats no secret. We had a couple of opportunities to get the big hit. You cant do it all the time." Jacoby Ellsbury got the rally started when he walked to lead off the inning and stole second, a call upheld aafter Matheny challenged. Nathan Gerbe Jersey. After coming through, Roberts is 3 for 6 in extra innings. "Another big hit for us," manager Joe Girardi said. "I thought the bottom of the lineup was extremely productive." Molina slammed his helmet in frustration after Gardner came down with his drive at the top of the fence with a runner on and one out in the 11th. Derek Jeter got a standing ovation before his first at-bat, and thousands stood again when he singled, although they also roared when he took a called third strike to end the eighth against Carlos Martinez after Molinas pinpoint throw on Gardner attempting to steal. Michael Wacha dealt with a rain delay for the fourth time in his 11 starts -- total idle time of 4 hours, 52 minutes. After nine pitches the Yankees had the lead, with a walk by Gardner and a single by Jeter setting up Ellsburys RBI single. The first three batters reached in a two-run fifth, too, with Kelly Johnsons RBI single and Gardners sacrifice fly putting the Yankees up 3-1. New York rookie starter Chase Whitley was vulnerable early, too. The Cardinals needed two at-bats to tie it in the first when Matt Carpenter tripled off the right-field wall and Kolten Wong doubled, but they missed a chance for more when Wong overslid third and was caught stealing for the first time in eight attempts this season. Whitley qualified for a win for the first time in three career starts, but left with the bases loaded and none out in the sixth before the Cardinals tied it against Preston Claiborne. Allen Craig had an RBI groundout and Jhonny Peralta followed with a sacrifice fly. Wacha bounced back after taking a foul liner off his elbow while sitting in the dugout his last time out, giving up three runs on four hits in seven innings. He had a season-low two strikeouts, the first against Ellsbury leading off the sixth. NOTES: In a pregame ceremony, Jeter received Stan Musial cuff links and a $10,000 check for the captains Turn 2 Foundation. ... The Cardinals also paid tribute to their 1964 team. ... Whitley is the first Yankees pitcher to make his first three career starts on the road since Ramiro Mendoza made four in a row in 1996. ... Cardinals RHP Lance Lynn (5-2, 3.60 ERA) opposes David Phelps (1-1, 3.1 on Tuesday night. Lynn is 1-3 with a 5.08 ERA in six career interleague starts. ... LIVERPOOL, England -- Liverpool signed versatile forward Lazar Markovic from Benfica on Tuesday as the Premier League club spends the windfall from Luis Suarezs sale. James Washington Steelers Jersey . Liverpool paid 12.5 million euros ($17 million) for Benficas 50 per cent share in Markovic, the Portuguese club said. Details were not disclosed about a deal to buy out the third party owning the other half of the rights in the 20-year-old Serbian. "I hope that I will fulfil the expectations of the supporters, coaches, players and all connected to the club," Markovic said. "I have seen what the players are like, I have seen what the supporters are like, and I cannot wait to start playing here." The playmaker only joined Benfica last year from Partizan Belgrade, and scored seven goals in 49 appearances as the Lisbon side won the domestic treble. Markovic is Liverpools fourth recruit in the summer transfer window, following striker Rickie Lambert and midfielders Adam Lallana and Emre Can into Anfield. Liverpool, which finished second in the Premier League last season, made around $130 million from the sale of Suarez to Barcelona last week. Mason Rudolph Jersey . Ramirez is still hitting behind Puig, only now they are in the third and fourth spots, and the change is starting to generate positive results for manager Don Mattingly. Sean Davis Steelers Jersey . 8 Sergio Parisse for its penultimate Six Nations match against Ireland at Lansdowne Road. http://www.steelersrookiestore.com/Steelers-Sean-Davis-Jersey/ .The long-haired pivot, who joined the Alouettes midway through the CFL season and put up a 9-3 record as a starter, will be listed as the top quarterback in training camp next spring. With a full training camp under his belt, the Alouettes will see if he has what it takes to get them back to the Grey Cup game after a four-year absence.Jordan Bachynski had been in this situation before. In fact, hes been there on more than one occasion. The NCAAs leader in blocked shots has saved three games for Arizona State this season blocking shots at the buzzer. This time, in his first NCAA tournament game, Bachynski challenged Texas centre Cameron Ridleys lay-up, which narrowly escaped the Calgary, Alberta natives 74 wingspan with milliseconds left on the clock. The ball bounced off the backboard and into the net for an 87-85 buzzer-beater win. Arizona State was sent home after falling short of a hard fought first round upset, ending a season which saw them in the tournament for the first time in five years. It also capped a standout collegiate career for Bachynski, who in his senior year bettered his individual stats each season as his teams record improved as well. TSN.ca spoke with the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year prior to the NCAA Tournament about his goals, his game and whats next. What goals did you set for yourself as a team and individually this year? As a team, it was to make it to the NCAA Tournament. Most of the guys on our team havent ever been to the tournament - me included. So thats a huge goal, and to be able to do that and we felt we had a really strong team and guys that can help us get there. My main goal this year was to lead the nation in blocked shots because thats something I knew I would be able to excel at and so I was able to meet that goal. What is your approach or technique to blocking shots? Its not something I really think about; its something that comes naturally to me. Our defense is set up for me to help the guys on D. Coach Sendek actually completely changed the defensive strategy when I started to show that I had a knack for blocking shots. There were two games where I had a bunch of blocked shots and so the coaches saw that as such a huge asset for us and changed what we play to more help side man-to-man and Ive loved it. I love playing help side where a man is coming down the pike and I just get to step up and bloock his shot. Morgan Burnett Steelers Jersey. How does it feel to be recognized as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year? Its a huge honour, especially with the tradition of the Pac-12 and how it has produced such great players and such great big men. Some of the best big men ever to play the game came for the Pac-10/Pac-12. Its just an honour to be recognized as a defensive presence in such a great conference. Its an interesting time for Canadians in the NCAA. What does that say about the growth of Canadian basketball? Canadian basketball is on its way up. This summer I had a great opportunity to play with Team Canadas Development Team and there are some great players. Especially Melvin Ejim, who is doing amazing things. He just got named Player of the Year in his conference and me and him still keep in touch. Watching Brady Heslip knock shots down at Baylor and Kevin Pangos at Gonzaga and playing against Dwight Powell at Stanford, Canada basketball has really stepped up in college this year. Its crazy. Whats next for you after you graduate? Is the NBA in the cards for you? Thats definitely in the cards for me. Im working as hard as I can to get there. The NCAA Tournament would be huge for me. The national exposure and playing on that big stage and showing what type of player that I am, the defensive stopper that I am and the scorer that I am, and to play with my team is the main thing. Right now I want to get to the NBA, but the most important thing to me is that my team wins and thats what Im working for. So if that means that I have to take one less shot to pass it up to someone who has a better shot Im willing to do that because I want to win. Not a lot of guys realize that you can be a great player on a bad team and no one is going to notice you, so you need to make those guys around you better if you want to get noticed. Coaches and scouts are going to notice that and by helping your team win, by doing the right thing and playing the right way, you actually are giving yourself a better look at the next level. The All Blacks, the defending World Series champions, won their third tournament this season in style, running four tries past England to claim their 11th Cup championship in Hong Kong and first since 2011.ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins free safety Brandon Meriweathers dangerous habit of leading with his helmet will cost him two games, the latest sanction from a league determined to make the game safer by discouraging blows to the head. The NFL announced Monday that Meriweather will be suspended for this weeks game against the Denver Broncos and the following game against the San Diego Chargers, a severe blow to a struggling defence as the Redskins try to recover from their poor start to the season. Meriweather has the right to appeal. If he does, an expedited hearing will be held this week and a ruling issued before the Broncos game. He was flagged twice for hits on defenceless receivers in Sundays 45-41 win over the Chicago Bears, in the third quarter for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Alshon Jeffery in the fourth quarter for a helmet-first hit to the head and neck area of Brandon Marshall. In announcing the suspension, the league cited Meriweathers status as a repeat offender. He was fined $42,000 for a helmet-first hit on Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy in Week 2, forcing Lacy out of the game with a concussion. Later in that same game, another helmet-first hit left Meriweather with a concussion, knocking him out of the game. The two-game suspension will cost Meriweather $141,176 in salary. He will not be allowed to participate in any football activities with the team during the suspension. Meriweather said after Sundays game that he thought both hits against the Bears were legal. He said hes tried to change his game to suit the NFLs tackling rules. "I wasnt trying to be dirty. I wasnt trying to hurt nobody," he said. "I didnnt lead with my, didnt launch with my head. Chris Sale Jersey. I used my shoulder like they told me to do." Coach Mike Shanahan said earlier Monday that he didnt think Meriweather would be suspended. "I think he knows exactly what he has to do," Shanahan said. "And sometimes the intent -- theres no intent there -- sometimes you hit a guy a little bit higher than anticipated. Even the last one, he came to the sideline and says, Hey, one guy told me it was a good hit and the other official told me he saw it differently. So theres a lot of different interpretations of it, and at the end of the day well find out." The suspension could leave the Redskins without their two starting safeties when they face Peyton Manning and the Broncos. Strong safety Reed Doughty suffered a concussion Sunday when the Bears attempted an onside kick in the fourth quarter. He will have to pass the leagues required tests before he can be cleared to play next week at Denver. The Redskins are already thin at safety. Rookie Phillip Thomas was lost for the season with an injury during training camp, and rookie Bacarri Rambo lost his starting job after struggling in the first two games. The only other safeties on the roster are Jose Gumbs, who has played in two NFL games, and Trenton Robinson, who was signed last week. Washington is ranked 24th in the NFL against the pass and gave up 24 second-half points Sunday against a backup quarterback. Shanahan was asked how he would manage if he doesnt have Meriweather and Doughty. "Not a whole lot you can do about it," Shanahan said, "except prepare the best way you can." ATLANTA - After a far-from-perfect performance, the Atlanta Hawks head into February with the NBAs best record and savoring a bit of NBA history as the first team to go 17-0 within a calendar month. Haloti Ngata Jersey .The Hawks stretched their overall winning streak to 19 straight with a gritty 91-85 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night, blowing a 21-point lead and actually falling behind late in the game.In the end, it was yet another triumph for a team that hasnt lost since the day after Christmas. We are a resilient group, All-Star centre Al Horford said.According to STATS, the Hawks (40- are the first team in NBA history to win 17 games without a loss over a single month. Four teams have put together a 16-0 mark, most recently the eventual NBA champion San Antonio Spurs last March. Also, the 19-game streak is tied for the fifth-longest within a season. The Hawks will travel to New Orleans on Monday night looking to make it 20 in a row, which would match the 1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks. The only longer streaks in NBA history were by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers (33 in a row), the 2012-13 Miami Heat (27), and the 2007-08 Houston Rockets (22).The Hawks are banged up as they move into a new month, but confident that their depth will help overcome injuries to Thabo Sefolosha, DeMarre Carroll and Shelvin Mack.Sefolosha, who backed up Carroll at small forward, is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a right calf injury, costing the Hawks one of their top defensive players and a key member on the playing rotation. Carroll has missed the last two games with a left Achilles streak and its not known when hell return. Mack, a backup point guard, has missed six games with a left calf strain and could be out for at least another week. Were confident in one to 15 here, Horford said. Guys really put in the time. Guys work every day. They just dont get the opportunity because were so deep. We have guys who can play. Its just the way it is with this team.Kent Bazemore, a 6-foot-5 swingman, moved up to take Carrolls spot in the lineup. Third-year guard John Jenkins, who has spent much of the year in the D-League, played nearly 21 minutes and scored 9 points on 4-of-5 shooting against the 76ers in only his sixth NBA game of the season. Veteran Elton Brand played an expanded role the last two games, grabbing five rebounds in about 11 minutes Saturday. Second-year forward Mike Muscala and rookie Adreian Payne, the teams first-round pick, could get more playing time if the injuries linger. With Carroll hurting and Sefolosha out, Bazemore will definitely get more playing time. Were very, very fortunate to have three guys on the wing that really take a lot of pride in defending, coach Mike Budenholzer said. Kent was everywhere (against Philadelphia). He was on a lot of different people, doing a lot of different things. ... Hes been growing and coming in the right direction along with the whole group. Im happy for him. Hes such a hard worker. After the Pelicans (25-22), the Hawks return home to face Washington (31-17) on Wednesday night before a much-anticipated game against West-leading Golden State (37- on Friday. The Warriors held the top record in the NBA for much of the season, but were passed by the streaking Hawks in the past week.Portland star Damian Lillard is certainly impressed by what hes seen from the Hawks, who swept the season series against the Trail Blazers. They take advantage of teams mistakes, he said. They are constantly in the passing lane, and they keep their hands active, creating more positions for themselves and taking other possessions away from the other team. They execute offensively and they play together. Theres a reason why the Hawks have won 19 in a row.___Follow Paul Newberry on Twitter at www.twitter.com/pnewberry1963 Eagles Jerseys . -- Sami Salo joked that as the shootout went on and on, one thing went through his mind: "Youve got to tie up your skates. City coach Roberto Mancini had initially told Tevez he would never play for City again after his act of public insubordination, but later softened his stance and only asked for an apology.DETROIT -- Gustav Nyquist is making the most of his opportunity to play a lot for the injury-depleted Detroit Red Wings. Nyquist had two goals and Jimmy Howard made 31 saves to help the Red Wings hold on to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old Nyquist has 19 goals in 43 games after he had a total of four goals in 40 games spread out over the previous two seasons in the league. Entering the game against Toronto, he was tied with Bostons Jarome Iginla with an NHL-high 12 goals since Jan. 20. "I didnt know that," Nyquist said. "Im just playing with some good players and Im getting some good bounces." While Nyquist is being humble about his goal-scoring stretch, teammate Daniel Alfredsson raved about the fellow Swede. "Hes really pesky on the forecheck and hes making a lot of plays," Alfredsson said. "His speed gives him chances that other players dont get. The second goal was a perfect example." Early in the third period, Nyquist poked the puck off the boards to himself and charged up the ice early to flick a wrist shot from the right circle that beat James Reimers blocker. That goal seemed to set the Red Wings up for the victory, but they still had work to do. Jake Gardiner scored on a power play midway through the third to pull Toronto within a goal. The Maple Leafs appeared to tie the game less than two minutes later, but Nazem Kardris goal was waved off because he made a kicking motion to knock the puck in with the inside of his right skate. The Red Wings went ahead by two goals again with 2:33 left when Alfredssons wrist shot from the slot hit the back of the net on an odd-man rush that Gardiner lamented. "I thought we were going to come back at the end, but we made a mistake," Gardiner said. The Maple Leafs pulled Reimer to add an extra skater seconds later and James van Riemsdyk scored with 1:13 left, but couldnt get the puck past Howard again to extend the game past regulation. "Not a lot of space out on the ice," Toronto coach Randy Carlyle said. Reimer stoppped 28 shots for the Maple Leafs. Josh Sweat Jersey. Detroit is desperately trying to move up in the Eastern Conference standings to extend its post-season streak to 23 with a fraction of the team it expected to have this season. Toronto is the first of two wild-card teams in the East, and the Red Wings wouldnt make the playoffs is they started Wednesday. "A huge win for us," Nyquist said. "Also very important they didnt get a point too and we got two." The Red Wings lost forward Justin Abdelkader to a leg laceration in Sundays loss at Chicago, leading to the team calling up 22-year-old Landon Ferraro, son of former NHL player Ray Ferraro. "I was a little nervous at the beginning," Landon Ferraro acknowledged. Ferraro said it was "awesome" to have both his parents watch him play his first game for the Red Wings. "It was real nice for both of them to be able to get in and be here for this," he said before chatting with his father in the dressing room after the game. Abdelkaders injury also put 25-year-old defenceman Brendan Smith at forward for the first time since he was a teenager against Toronto. The banged-up team, which had won just two of their previous seven games, took another hit against the Maple Leafs. The Red Wings started the game with numerous forwards, including Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, due to injuries and lost defenceman Jonathan Ericsson because of a broken finger. "We get somebody hurt every day and they never come back," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "I guess hes out for a bit. I dont really know. A hand specialist is looking at him." NOTES: The Maple Leafs beat the Red Wings in their previous meeting, a 3-2 shootout on New Years Day in the Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium, after losing the first matchup this season 5-4 in a shootout at home. ... Abdelkader is expected to be out for two weeks. ... Toronto, which closed its road trip 2-3, hosts Tampa Bay on Wednesday. ... Detroits next game is Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The St. Cameron Meredith Jersey . Louis Blues and Buffalo Sabres came to an agreement on a big trade that may only offer incremental improvement to the Blues in their quest for a Stanley Cup. Numbers Game breaks down the Blues acquisition of Ryan Miller and Steve Ott. The Blues Get: G Ryan Miller and C Steve Ott. Miller, 33, is enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, despite rarely getting rewarded with wins by this struggling Sabres team. Millers .923 save percentage this season is the second-best of his career, bettered only by his .929 save percentage in 2009-2010, when he won the Vezina Trophy as top goaltender. Its that strong play from Miller this year that has made him an attractive commodity on the trade market because, over the past three seasons, his .926 even-strength save percentage is only okay, just barely ahead of Jaroslav Halaks .925 mark. Its also not like Miller has a sterling playoff reputation. He hasnt played beyond the first round since 2007 and his .917 career save percentage in the playoffs is actually worse than Halaks .923. The numbers arent going to present a strong edge for Miller, so the deal has to be predicated on some comfort level; that the Blues intangibly feel better about their chances with Miller than Halak. Ott is a 31-year-old forward who has been asked to handle too much ice time on a Sabres team lacking bona fide NHL talent. Hes averaging a career-high 19:42 per game -- a couple of seconds more per game than current Blues No. 1 centre David Backes -- despite getting destroyed in terms of puck possession. However, Ott had established earlier in his career that he could be a decent complementary forward, skating in a top-nine role and penalty killing while chipping in some offence and annoying just about anyone he comes in contact with. Since the start of the 2009-2010 season, Ott is the only player in the NHL to have at least 60 goals and 600 penalty minutes. In a third or fourth-line role with the Blues, though, Ott should be in position to have some success. Both Miller and Ott will be unrestricted free agents in the summer, so there isnt any grand financial commitment from the Blues, though if their playoff run goes well, its safe to assume that St. Louis would at least want to keep Miller around. The Sabres Get: G Jaroslav Halak, RW Chris Stewart, LW William Carrier, a first-round pick in 2015 and a third-round pick in 2016. Halak, 28, has been decent this season, posting a .917 save percentage (that matches his career mark) in 40 games. Hes had some ups and downs, including an injury-marred 2013 season during which he posted an .899 save percentage but, by and large, hes been an above average goaltender throughout his 260-game NHL career. Halaks .917 career save percentage is actually a hair better than Millers .916 save percentage. While Halak was moved out, its not impossible for the Sabres to flip him again prior to the deadline. Halak will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, so there are no guarantees about where hes going to be playing next year. Stewart is a 26-year-old power forward who has 15 goals, 26 points and a career-high 112 penalty minutes in 58 games this season. Those numbers are a far cry from last season, when Stewart led the Blues with 36 points in 48 games and his ice time has been knocked down to 14:42 per game, his lowest since his rookie year in 2008-2009. Even worse, Stewart has been getting torched in terms of puck possession, despite starting more than 60% of his shifts in the offensive zone. On a team as good as the Blues, thats not easy to accomplish. Nevertheless, Stewart is a big winger who can score and is under contract at a cap hit of $4.15-million for next season. If he doesnt perform well in Buffalo, Stewart could very easily be moved again, or he could get flipped even before he suits up for the Sabres. Carrier was a second-round pick of the Blues in 2013 and has 56 points (17 G, 39 A) in 59 QMJHL games. He has the size to be a power foward and was traded to Drummondville part way through the season. Carrier will need a few years to develop, but his offensive production this year raises some questions about whether hes going to be a notable scorer as a pro. Getting the Blues first-round pick in 2015 is a nice coup for the Sabres. Its not as though the Blues can be expected to collapse and be in line for the No. 1 pick, which is earmarked for Connor McDavid, but the 2015 draft is expected to be strong, so there is likely more value for the Sabres getting that pick rather than one late in the 2014 draft. The third-round pick in 2016 is a nice sweetener, with upside, as it could be a first-round pick if the Blues reach the Western Conference Final or Miller re-signs in St. Louis. These are two teams in virtually opposite positions. The Blues are ready to take a run at the Stanley Cup and are willing to take on a couple of potential rentals to help in that regard, and while the Blues sacrificed some draft pick value, they didnt lose any core pieces of the team that has been so successful to this point in the season. vCHARLOTTE, N. Alex Smith Jersey .C. - For all of the numbers Cam Newton has put up in his first four seasons with the Carolina Panthers, Superman hasnt won a playoff game.Newton is eager to change that Saturday when Carolina hosts the Arizona Cardinals in an NFC wild-card game.It would mean a lot not only for myself, but for this organization, Newton said Wednesday. ... We havent had the best of luck in the playoffs.Carolinas last playoff win was nine years ago.The Panthers have been back twice since, losing in 2008 to Arizona and last season to San Francisco in home divisional playoff games. The Panthers lost 23-10 in January to a 49ers team that was loaded with playoff experience after going to three straight NFC Championship games. Newton said participating in the playoffs last season should benefit the Panthers.I dont think we got beat talent-wise, it was more we got beat experience-wise, Newton said. The Panthers were 6-10 and 7-9 in Newtons first two seasons. They went 12-4 last season and earned the No. 2 seed in the playoffs.Newton was 16 of 25 for 267 yards with two interceptions and one touchdown in the loss to the 49ers. He said hes learned a lot from that defeat.Just playing smart. Knowing when to take shots. Valuing first downs and staying on the field, Newton said. Because playoff momentum is different than regular season momentum. The team (that) has it, they usually get the win.Newton has re-written Carolinas record books since being drafted No. 1 overall in 2011.Hes the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for 3,000 yards and run for 500 yards in his first four seasons. Hes run for 33 touchdowns in his career. This hasnt been Newtons best statistical season. He has thrown for 3,127 yards and a modest 18 touchdowns with 12 interceptions while battling through ankle, rib and back injuries. But he finished strong, leading the Panthers to three wins in December and the NFC South championship.Panthers coach Ron Rivera believes the two-vehicle wreck Dec. 9 that left Newton with two fractures in his lower back has helped put things in perspective for the 25-year-old quarterback.Rivera said he noticed a different young man when he met with Newton in the hospital the night of the crash. He said Newton is having fun again — something he wasnt doing Carolinas seven-game winless streak.Somewhere along the lines he realized maybe he was getting too serious about things and started realizing, hey, dont get caught up in certain things, get caught up things that are really more important, Rivera said. That has helped him relax and play relaxed. When hes having fun and when hes having fun hes pretty doggone good.Rivera said that has had a trickle-down effect on the rest of the team.Guys are feeding off that energy, the fourth-year coach said.Newton said that while the Panthers might have been happy to get into the post-season last year, that isnt the case now. He said the Panthers have approached this week with laser-sharp focus and want more.We have the eye on the prize, Newton said.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Troy Apke Jersey .A. Dale Earnhardt Jr. watched the 18-year-old go by largely ignored and figured those days were numbered. "I thought to myself, I know hes going to win one day or another, and then just start railing off run after run after run and become the next best thing," Earnhardt said hours later. "It aint going to be long until hes going to be swarmed with attention." Boy, Earnhardt had that pegged. Elliott used a strong move on the outside to pass Kevin Harvick for the lead Friday night and then sailed away for his first career Nationwide Series victory. The 18-year-old won in his sixth career start and is the second youngest winner in series history. Hes roughly four months older than Joey Logano, who was 18 years and 21 days when he won his first career Nationwide race in 2008. Elliott won in a Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, driving the No. 9 as a tribute to his father, 1988 Cup champion Bill Elliott. "I cant believe it, just to have the opportunity to race with these guys at JR Motorsports, just to have this opportunity is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for any racer who wants to make it to the top," Elliott said. "It just means the word for me to be here." Elliott became the fourth driver in Nationwide history to earn his first series victory at Texas, joining Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch and Trevor Bayne. The victory continues the youth initiative in NASCAR as first-time winners have now won consecutive races for the first time since 2008. Two weeks ago, 21-year-old Kyle Larson scored his first career win at California. For his efforts? Elliott gets to return home and go to school on Monday as he continues to finish his senior year of high school. "I guess it will just be a normal Monday. Nobody likes Mondays," Elliott said. "Im sure it will be the same old deal, have a bunch of homework to do when I get back and get ready to go to Darlington." The win wowed Elliotts father, and back home in Dawsonville, Ga., the siren outside the local pool room wass blaring throughout the town to signify another local boys big victory. DaRon Payne Redskins Jersey. "Im about speechless," Bill Elliott said in Victory Lane. "I felt like Chase could do it. Ive watched him on Late Model team too much -- I know how good the kid really is. "To come here, to never have been to some of these places, like Las Vegas, California and now here at Texas, and come out and beat the kind of guys youve beat -- Ill tell you what, youve done a heck of a job." As a sign of how much respect Elliott already has among his peers, he was met following the win on pit road by Harvick, Larson and Kyle Busch. Then six-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson came to Victory Lane to congratulate him. "Its pretty awesome to see him succeed, I knew it was just a matter of time," said team co-owner Earnhardt Jr. "He has so much composure and ability and is years ahead of guys that age. And hes learning so much on the fly. Hes learning faster than you can teach him whats going on." Kyle Busch, a 65-time race winner in the Nationwide Series, finished second. He was third two weeks ago when Larson won, and hasnt seemed to mind these defeats. "These are the guys that are growing up and are young and being able to run hard and run strong and run with the best of them," said Busch. "Its neat to see them being successful and running with the best of them. I hate to lose, but its still cool to see the younger guys have the opportunities to win races and when they do, they seem to make it look good and win in style, so congrats to Chase." Elliott, who led four times for 38 laps, was strong Friday night and passed car owner Earnhardt Jr. for the lead at one point. But he was second behind Harvick on the final restart with 23 laps to go, and flirted several times with making a pass for the win before finally completing the move with a strong outside pass. "That was wild," said third-place finisher Larson. "Hed been trying to make it work and he must have had an extreme run that one time, got to Harvicks quarter panel and made him loose. From there on, I knew he was probably going to win the race unless we got a caution." John Albert Elway, 24, was booked into jail early Saturday morning after an incident near a college campus in downtown Denver, according to jail records.CALGARY -- In the same city where Canada held its Olympic orientation camp in August, two talented forwards that were passed over made a loud statement for being included in the trip to the Sochi Games. Tyler Seguin had his first four-goal game while Jamie Benn had one goal and a career-high six points Thursday night as the Dallas Stars scored four straight goals in the second period to run away with a 7-3 victory over the Calgary Flames. "I actually texted Jamie, probably early August when the camp list came out," said Seguin. "I didnt know him too well but I texted him about it. Yeah, I think we both wanted to make a statement." While it makes the odds longer, not being at the camp doesnt necessarily mean you wont get picked. Bostons Patrice Bergeron is an example of a guy that was picked for the Olympic team in 2010 after not being at the camp. "Theres obviously so many good players in this league that didnt get picked," said Benn. "Theres obviously some pretty high talent at that camp in the summer. It is what it is. I just came in to camp this year with the focus of being the best player I can be." Benn and Seguin are off to a terrific start with 22 points on the season, two back of the NHL lead shared by Sidney Crosby and Alex Steen. "There was a point where Tyler and I started laughing at each other," said Benn, whos previous high for points in a game was three. "You definitely dont want to embarrass the other team but its just one of those nights where everything was clicking." Joined on the Stars top line by rookie Valeri Nichushkin, the formidable Dallas trio was too quick, too skilled and just too elusive for the Flames, who were a step behind all night and could not contain them. Stars coach Lindy Ruff says the two should be opening some eyes when it comes to the prospects of playing for Team Canada. "Youd hope that theyre catching some attention. Theyve had a very good start for us and theyve been leading our team offensively," Ruff said. "Like most teams, you dont often find one guy up in the standings, its usually two guys that work well together. Those two guys have had chemistry ever since camp." Since the July 4 trade that saw Dallas acquire Seguin from Boston in a multi-player deal, the two have quickly become good friends. "Right from day one, we were shooting texts back and forth when we found out about the trade. I was definitely excited to have a player like him join our hockey club," Benn said. "Were living in the same building back home so were spending a lot of time together and thats translating to chemisstry on the ice. Carlton Davis Jersey. " Stephane Robidas and Ryan Garbutt also scored for Dallas (10-7-2). The Stars have won five of their last six and have reeled off five straight road victories. Goligoski had three assists. Matt Stajan, with a pair, and David Jones replied for Calgary (6-10-3). The slumping Flames are winless in their last five. "We just got outworked. Its the same story," said Flames winger Lee Stempniak. "We had a bad first period. We didnt play smart, we didnt play hard. That was a talented team and they took advantage of the odd-man rushes." Leading 1-0 already, Dallas scored four straight goals to open the up the second period. Seguin began the onslaught at 1:19 knocking in his own rebound after Benn got the puck to the front of the net. The same combo struck again at 4:25, and again four minutes after that. That goal, making it 4-0, ended the evening for Berra, who was replaced by Karri Ramo. "We need to get back to our game and get back to our game quick. Thats unacceptable," said Flames coach Bob Hartley. "Were basically giving games away with unnecessary mistakes. Basic, simple mistakes that shouldnt happen at this level." Seguin scored 30 seconds into the third period to extend the Stars lead to 6-1. After two Flames goals, Dallas converted a late power play with Seguin notching goal No. 4. When the Flames and Stars met three weeks ago, Dallas was last in the West, four points behind the Flames. Since that night when Dallas won 5-1, Calgary has gone 2-7-1 while the Stars have gone 7-2-2. "It all falls into the same thing -- not being mentally sharp, making wrong decisions, having turnovers, losing your guys, losing battles," said Flames defenceman Dennis Wideman. "The frustration has been building for the last four games now and it kind of accumulated tonight." The game began as many have for the Flames, who gave up the first goal. At 6:27, Wideman gave the puck away and then ended up screening Berra as Robidas scored on a slapshot from the blue-line. Calgary has given up the first goal in seven of its last eight games and has been outscored 11-1 in the first period. Notes: Nichushkin, Trevor Daley and Goligoski led the Stars at plus-4 ... Wideman played in his 600th NHL game while RW Tim Jackman appeared in his 400th for the Flames ... Scratched for the Flames was D Derek Smith ... Dallas iced the identical lineup to what they deployed against the Oilers on Wednesday ... Mike Cammalleris three-game goal-scoring streak came to an end for Calgary ... Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork. Jerick McKinnon 49ers Jersey .com) - Patrick Kane scored two goals and set up another in helping the visiting Chicago Blackhawks beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-1 on Friday night. Patrick Sharp had four assists, and Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith also scored for the Blackhawks. Rickard Rakells power-play goal midway through the third period spoiled the shutout bid for Corey Crawford, who made 21 saves as Chicago picked up its third straight victory at Honda Center. Frederik Andersen stopped 29 shots for the Ducks, who have dropped two in a row following a six-game winning streak. Jonathan Cooper Jersey . The 24-year-old right winger has one assist in nine games this season with the Sabres. In his career, he has three goals and six assists in 43 NHL games. Jeff Locke 49ers Jersey . The matchup will be made up in Minnesota at a later date. Granger was acquired from the Indiana Pacers last Thursday for Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen, but never played a minute for Philadelphia. The 76ers also received a 2015 second-round draft pick in the deal.MIAMI -- Their big early lead was gone, the Miami Heat were trailing with 3 minutes remaining and the two-time defending champions seemed very much in trouble. They didnt let Boston score again. Thats how to snap a defensive slump. LeBron James scored 11 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, Chris Bosh added 16 and the Heat beat the Celtics 93-86 on Tuesday night -- finishing the game on a 9-0 run after trailing 86-84 with 3:08 left. "Its difficult doing what we do," Bosh said. "But thats why were the champs, to do the difficult thing again and get the job done. Tonight was a good start. We just have to build off of it." Chris Andersen scored 13 points and made all five of his shots for Miami, which had given up at least 100 points in four of its last six games. The Heat are 25-1 when allowing less than 100 points; 5-11 otherwise. Brandon Bass scored 15 points, Kris Humphries had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Jeff Green had 12 points for the Celtics, who enjoyed a 46-33 edge in rebounds but shot only 39 per cent. And when it was over, Celtics coach Brad Stevens had a simple assessment of the final 3 minutes. "LeBron James happened," Stevens said. James made seven free throws in the final 2:33, the only other points down the stretch coming on a jumper by Ray Allen that put the Heat up for good. James did the rest, while the Celtics missed their final four shots. Rajon Rondo, still coming around after returning from knee surgery, missed all eight of his shots, plus a pair of free throws with the Celtics down four with 44.4 seconds remaining. Avery Bradley, the Celtics other starting guard, was lost in the second quarter with a sprained right ankle. "LeBron got a bunch of calls down the stretch," Bass said. "We expect that. We just wished we could have kept him off the line." The Celtics rallied from a 10-point deficit to win 111-110 in their first trip to Miami this season. They seemed poised for a bigger comeback this time, steadily chipping away at a big Miami lead by getting it down to 11 by halftime, then four entering the fourth. And a dunk by Humphries with 3:08 left -- about a half minute after JJames tried a reverse dunk that rimmed out -- put the Celtics on top for the first time since the opening minutes. Jeremiah Attaochu 49ers Jersey. Thus ended Bostons offence for the evening. "Its the only way were going to be able to win games, if we defend," James said. As if playing without Dwyane Wade isnt difficult enough for Miami -- he was out for the 12th time this season -- the Heat found themselves facing a sticky situation at his position just 71 seconds after tip-off. Allen, who started in Wades spot, was called for two fouls in a span of 11 seconds. But the Heat rolled the dice and left him in until 4.3 seconds remained in the opening quarter, a move that paid off two ways. One, Allen didnt get in any deeper foul trouble. Two, Michael Beasley made those 4.3 ticks on the clock count. Without even time to work up a droplet of sweat, Beasley banked in a 35-footer at the horn of the first quarter to give Miami a 29-15 edge. And another beat-the-clock 3 -- this one by Bosh, with 2.0 seconds left and somewhat less dramatic than Beasleys -- put Miami up 51-40 at intermission. Boston used a 13-2 run to get to 42-35 late in the second. Thats when Greg Oden made his first home-court impact with the Heat. Oden -- playing in Miami for the first time since Nov. 12, 2008 -- blocked a dunk attempt by Green, then after a timeout had a follow slam of a miss by James to help snuff out the Boston rally. The Celtics just kept coming back. The Heat, though, had the final answer. "Erik sits over there and its been a long stretch for them, a hard stretch for them," Stevens said of Spoelstra. "Im sure the last 5 minutes he feels really good about what he can build on moving forward because that teams really good and they didnt even have Wade." NOTES: The Heat are 24-6 when Wade plays, 6-6 when he doesnt. ... Former Heat C Joel Anthony, who was traded to Boston last week, got a video tribute on the scoreboard and a standing ovation during the first quarter. The ovation was slightly less robust when he hit a jumper in the second quarter, though some still stood and clapped. ... James got his trophy for being Eastern Conference player of the month for December at halftime. NEW YORK, N. B.J. Hill Giants Jersey .Y. - Detroit goaltender Jonas Gustavsson has earned NHL first star of the week honours after winning in his first three appearances of the season. Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby earned second star honours, while San Jose forward Patrick Marleau was named the weeks third star. Gustavsson posted a 3-0-0 record over the week with a 1.67 goals-against average and .953 save percentage in helping the Red Wings (6-3-0) move into first place in the Atlantic Division. He recorded victories on consecutive days for the first time since January 2012, posting 28 saves in a 3-2 triumph over the Boston Bruins and 36 stops in a 2-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Gustavsson then handed the Colorado Avalanche their first loss of the season, making 38 in a 4-2 victory. Crosby extended his season-opening point streak to a career-long eight games, leading the NHL with six assists and eight points as the Penguins remained atop the Metropolitan Division with a trio of victories. He opened the week by assisting on all three of Pittsburghs goals in a 3-2 triumph over the Edmonton Oilers. Crosby then had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over Philadelphia and registered a goal and two assists in a 4-3 shootout victory over Vancouver. Marleau also extended his season-opening point streak to eight games, totalling three goals and three assists over the week. Five of those points came in the power play. CHINA (1030 GMT): Australia should be boosted by the return of captain Mile Jedinak, after the Crystal Palace skipper missed the past two games due to injury. Its going to be great to have him back, Australia coach Ang Postecoglou said Wednesday. Hes our most influential player when hes out there and Im sure it will give all the other players a lift.Several key players who were rested for the loss to South Korea in the last group-stage game are also in the frame to return in Brisbane: Tim Cahill, Robbie Kruse and Matthew Leckie. Those players should help Australia get back to the attacking potency that saw the Socceroos score four goals in each of their first two games before drawing a blank against the Koreans.China should have captain Zheng Zhi available despite the back injury he sustained against North Korea; a game the Chinese won to complete a perfect group stage of three wins from three games. However there is concern over the availability of central defender Zhang Linpang, who has a calf strain. China coach Alain Perrin said it will likely be a game-day decision on whether Zhang can play. With Australian attacking duo Cahill and Tomi Juric posing a strong aerial threat, China can ill afford to lose its defensive lynchpin.China has the edge in recent contests against Australia, winning two and drawing one of the past three meetings, and did have the better group-stage record, but Postecoglou dismissed that. You dont get an extra chance just because you won your three group games, Posteccoglou said. Will Hernandez Giants Jersey. The previous records are now extinguished ... even the ones that have won their three games, they wont be sitting any more comfortably in this phase.___SOUTH KOREA VS. UZBEKISTAN (0730 GMT): South Korea topped Group A by beating Australia 1-0 in the last game, making the Koreans one of four teams to complete pool play with a perfect record. It also maintained a flawless defensive record, having kept a clean sheet in all three games. The defensive strength has, however, been a requirement rather than a bonus, as the team only scored three goals in the group stage, despite boasting creative talent such as Bayer Leverkusens Son Heung-min. The lack of attacking coherence may in part be due to the injuries and illness which have hampered the South Korean squad through the tournament, forcing coach Uli Stielike to use 22 of his 23-man squad. Son missed the last group game due to illness, but is expected to be fit for the game in Melbourne.Uzbekistan needed a victory in its last group-stage game in order to reach the knockout stages and withstood the pressure — plus some contentious refereeing decisions — to beat Saudi Arabia 3-1. Coach Mirjalol Qosimov blasted the Saudi players after the game for repeated instances of simulation which made life difficult for the referee.South Korea is a perennial power in Asian football, at national team and club level, yet has not won the Asian Cup since its second edition in 1960, having lost three finals since. The South Koreans have only lost to Uzbekistan once. But the two teams are evenly matched, as demonstrated in the qualifying for the 2014 World Cup when the they played to a 2-2 draw in Tashkent and South Korea eked out a 1-0 win at home. After making his All-Star debut in Fridays Rising Stars Challenge, the Raptors sophomore centre wont be sticking around for the duration of the weekends festivities, thinking about the big picture instead.Tampa, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Ranger Ryan Callahan had two goals and an assist against his ex-team to spoil Martin St. Louis return to Tampa and help the Lightning to a 4-3 victory over New York. The pregame buildup was solely centered on St. Louis first game in Amalie Arena since the Lightnings all-time leading scorer requested and was granted a trade to the Rangers on March 5. However, it was Callahan -- the key player Tampa Bay received in the blockbuster swap -- who earned the nights First Star as St. Louis was held off the scoresheet. Steven Stamkos made quite an impact as well, notching a goal and two assists in the Lightnings fourth win in their last six outings, including two in a row by one goal. Ben Bishop finished with 16 saves in the triumph. Another one-goal game, said Stamkos. We hold on and find a way to win these games and thats a good trait to have. New York entered the anticipated matchup off shutout wins over Philadelphia and Montreal, but Henrik Lundqvist stopped just 25-of-29 shots and St. Louis was mostly a non-factor. Rick Nash did record a goal and an assist for the Rangers, with Mats Zuccarello and Dan Boyle also scoring in defeat. Callahan accounted for the first two of three consecutive Tampa Bay goals that erased a 2-1 deficit late in the opening period, during which St. Louis received a generally positive ovation from the home crowd as a video saluting his 12 1/2-year tenure with the Lightning was shown on the scoreboard. A double-minor penalty to Nash led to Callahans initial tally of the night, with the former Rangers captain crashing the net to re-direct a long drive from Jason Garrison 2:26 prior to the first intermission. Callahans second came midway through the second period off a pinpoint pass from Stamkos, who wheeled around the New York net to set up his teammaate for a successful wrister in close that put the Lightning up 3-2. Arden Key Raiders Jersey. Boyle nearly tied it just seconds into the third with a blast that struck the post, but the Rangers later fell behind by two when Matt Carles point shot deflected off Kucherovs skate and trickled by Lundqvist with 10:22 to go. Nash got New York back within one when he turned a giveaway from Tampas Andrej Sustr into his 15th goal of the season with 7:11 left to play. Down two goals obviously were going to take some chances, said Boyle. You can take some risks. But the Lightning held on for the two points. Stamkos quickly put to rest any hopes of a third straight Rangers shutout, with the star center setting off a flurry of first-period goals by rifling a shot over Lundqvists left shoulder on a Tampa power play just 5:25 into the contest. New York answered just over 3 1/2 minutes later when Sustr fanned on a clearing attempt, creating a 2-on-1 between Nash and Zuccarello in which Bishop had no chance to turn away the latters attempt. The Lightning took a too-many-men-on-the-ice penalty less than two minutes after Zuccarellos score, with the Rangers converting the chance on Boyles one-timer off a Derek Stepan feed. Game Notes Callahan also had two goals in the first meeting between the clubs since the trade, a 5-1 Lightning win at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 17 ... The Lightning are now 13-0-0 following the trade when Callahan scores at least one goal ... Nashs assist on Zuccarellos marker was the 300th of his career ... Lightning forward Alex Killorn extended his career-best point streak to six games with an assist on Callahans second goal ... Boyles goal was the free- agent pickups first point as a Ranger ... Bishop improved to 7-0-0 all-time against New York. CLEVELAND -- Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is asking Cleveland fans to be patient as he looks to replace the coach he fired after one season. Stanley Johnson Jersey . With criticism growing as the search drags on, Haslam sent a letter to fans Wednesday in which he explained the Browns "methodical" hunt for a "strong coach." Haslam fired Rob Chudzinski last month following a 4-12 season, forcing the Browns to look for their seventh full-time coach since 1999 and fourth in six years. The owner said the team has spoken to a "number of outstanding candidates" and indicated he and CEO Joe Banner will meet with assistant coaches currently in the NFL playoffs. "We have purposefully been very methodical in our approach," Haslam said in the letter released by the team and posted on its website. "We believe it is very important to stay disciplined to this process and to interview all of the candidates on our list. We are strongly committed to finding the right person to coach the Cleveland Browns." The Browns were the first team to fire a coach after the season, and theyll be the last to hire one now that the Minnesota Vikings are completing a contract with former Cincinnati defensive co-ordinator Mike Zimmer, who interviewed for the Cleveland opening a year ago. When Chudzinski was dismissed, Haslam made it clear the Browns would take as long as needed to find a "proven winner." But as days turned to weeks and several candidates took jobs elsewhere or other names surfaced and were quickly dismissed, a perception took hold that the front office was not on the same page. There have also been rumblings that the Browns have been spurned by candidates and are fixated on hiring Denver offensive co-ordinator Adam Gase. Haslams unexpected letter seemed to be the teams attempt to quell some of the outside noise. Cleveland has interviewed six known candidates and the team intends to meet with Gase when the Broncos season ends. Gase was the first candidate contacted by the Browns after Chudzinski was let go. The 35-year-old Gase told the Browns and Vikings he wanted to wait until after the season. Although Gase appears to be the front-runner, theres no guarantee hell be hired by the Browns -- or if he even wants the job. Gases interview will likely take place soon after the Broncos are finished playing. That could be as soon as Sunday or as late as Feb. 3, if Denver advances to the Super Bowl. Haslam said the Browns, who havent been to the AFC playoffs since 2002, will remain patient. "We are prepared to wait as long as necessary because this is a very important decision," said Haslam, Clevelands owner since 2012. "Everyone in our organization is committed to finding the right leader for our team." The lingering search has created the appearance that the job is not appealing. Haslam, though, insists the Cleveland coaching spot is a "very attractive position." "We have one of the youngest teams in the League, a roster that includes five Pro Bowlers," he said. "In addition, we have more salary-cap room than all but one NFL team. We also have three of the top 35 picks in the upcoming draft and five of the top 83 selections." The Browns also interviewed Seattle defensive co-ordinator Dan Quinn, who could get a second meeting when the Seahawks season ends. New England co-ordinator Josh McDaniels and Arizona defensive co-ordinator Todd Bowles removed their names from consideration. Ken Whisenhunt met with the Browns before he was hired by Tennessee, and Green Bay quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo interviewed with Cleveland but was hired Tuesday as the New York Giants offensive co-ordinator. Former Tennessee coach Mike Munchak met with Haslam and Browns CEO Joe Banner this week. During the Browns search, other prominent names emerged, including Oklahomas Bob Stoops and former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel. However, neither is believed to be on Clevelands radar. Its also possible the team will ask to meet with San Francisco offensive co-ordinator Greg Roman. As they look for a new coach, the Browns have granted permission for offensive co-ordinator Norv Turner to interview with the Vikings, and theyve told defensive co-ordinator Ray Horton he can interview for the same position in Tennessee. Reggie Jackson Jersey . Warren made six birdies and a bogey for a 5-under total of 139 to sit one shot ahead of Felipe Aguilar of Chile, who carded a 69. David Horsey of England was also on 5 under through 15 holes to join Warren atop the leaderboard before play was stopped. Jerry Stackhouse Jersey . On Sunday, head coach Patrick Roy said the teams leading scorer will skate at Mondays morning practice and the club will make a decision on his status for Game 6 at that point. http://www.shoppistons.com/Cheap-Ben-Wallace-Pistons-Jersey/ . The Senators will put the busy off-season and training camp behind them when they open their regular season on the road. They kick things off Friday against the Buffalo Sabres and then head to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs on Saturday.Sean Fitzpatrick says the All Blacks will survive the loss of big players thanks to development driven by Steve Hansen. New Zealand host Wales in a three-Test series starting on Saturday, with a host of familiar faces named in Hansens matchday 23.With the international retirement of Richie McCaw, Dan Carter, and Maa Nonu among others last year, there was a line of thought that the All Blacks would be ripe for the taking in 2016, but the players who have replaced them have a wealth of international experience already. New Zealand certainly have plenty of skill at their disposal, but former All Black Fitzpatrick says its the management of the players development that has been key as they build on back-to-back World Cup titles, as he singled out coach Hansen for praise. Its amazing how quickly New Zealand move on, said Fitzpatrick. The likes of Aaron Cruden, Malakai Fekitoa, Sam Cane and Kieran Read as captain all come into the fold and they bring with them new skills as well as Test experience. The fact that they have had some exposure at the top level already is a reflection on the work that Steve Hansen and his coaching staff have done to develop this team. Once again you have to give credit to Hansen, who identified his capabilities a number of years ago and gave him senior leadership roles within the squad. Sean Fitzpatrick on Kieran Read With the exception of Seta Tamanivalu, most of those players have been in or around the All Black team for some time.It is a team of form players who look like they will kick on quite comfortably from the World Cup.McCaw was not just one of the best flankers in world rugby when he retired, but also arguably one of the greatest captains of the game.Though Read will not have that experience to lean on this weekend, Fitzpatrick does not think the No 8 will have to adapt to the role as captain of the best side in the world.I think he will want to put his stamp on the leadership, but he doesnt need to do much more than hes doing.Hes had nine games as captain already but now hes the big boss. He hasnt got Richie there, which may be a good thing for him, maybe he can grow even more. Warren Gatland talks about the challenge Wales face going up against the All Blacks on their Summer Tour Hes a good person and a good leader of men, and hes the nest No 8 in the world at the moment. Henry Ellenson Jersey. . You couldnt ask for much more!Once again you have to give credit to Hansen, who identified his capabilities a number of years ago and gave him senior leadership roles within the squad. The former All Black hooker says the world champions will not be caught cold in their first outing of the season, as has been known to happen in the past. Kieran Read starts his tenure as full-time All Black captain against Wales Traditionally New Zealand have been slow starters, but I cant see that happening this time.I think Wales will have a proper crack at the All Blacks, theyve said as much themselves, but its easier said than done.New Zealand clash with Warren Gatlands men at Eden Park this Saturday, and the 92-Test veteran is looking forward to the tussle up front. The interesting battle for me will be watching Samson Lee up against Joe Moody. Moody was one of the big movers for me at the end of last year.He came into the World Cup in 2015 after not paying for a few weeks and he performed brilliantly off the bench against France in the quarter-final, then started in the semi-final against the Springboks and the final against the Wallabies. Alun Wyn Jones reaches 100 caps for Wales on Saturday, and he tells us about what drives him on the field Though victory will be the number one priority for those in black this weekend, the Sky Sports pundit says there are some players who need to shine through individual performance in Auckland to stake their claim for the jersey.Cruden has played pretty well in Super Rugby, but his kicking success rate is 52% so hes got something to prove in that department.Cane will have to play well because theyre looking pretty hard at Ardie Savea. Given enough time on the field he could impress.Naholo didnt quite have the expected impact at the World Cup so he will be looking to show what he has to offer. Its an exciting Test match and I cant wait to see what they produce.
