HOUSTON -- Ricardo Clark and Omar Cummings scored in the second half to lead Houston back from a two-goal halftime deficit, lifting the Dynamo into a 2-2 tie against the top-seeded New York Red Bulls in the first leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Sunday. The second part is Wednesday at New York. "Judging by the feel right now, it feels like a loss because we were winning 2-0," New York goalkeeper Luis Robles said. "Now, we have to go home and we have to win. Its as simple as that." Cummings, a second-half substitute, tied it in the 92nd minute when he tapped the ball in from just outside the net. Bobby Boswells header was stopped by Robles, but Cummings sent the rebound inside the near post. Cummings said the goal was a "will-goal." "You will that one in," Cummings said. "You need a push, you need a point. You need to go to New York at least level if not better. Thats the kind of goal you just will in." Clark scored in the 51st minute when New York was unable to clear the ball away and he sent it through traffic and inside the near post. "We didnt script it this way," said Houston assistant Wade Barrett, who helped run the team after Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear was suspended for running out of his box and onto the field late in the teams first-round game against Montreal. "The first half didnt go as we had planned," Barrett said. "We gave up two goals and dug a hole, but it is 135 minutes from halftime and the guys came back with a fantastic attitude and got a goal back right away. . It was a fantastic performance in the second half. The way everything turned out, you feel real positive going into Wednesday." The Dynamo played the final 25 minutes with a man advantage after New Yorks Jamison Olave was given a straight red card for a reckless tackle from behind on Cummings in the 65th minute. Tim Cahill put the Red Bulls in front in the 22nd minute, taking Thierry Henrys cross from the left side and heading it inside the near post from just outside the upper goalkeepers box. Eric Alexander made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute, faking to his right, turning and hitting a shot from 14 yards out on the right box inside the near post. "I thought it was tremendous to go up 2-0 on the road in the first half," New York coach Mike Petke said. "I thought we gave them confidence with the deflection goal. The red card killed us. At the end of the day, those goals were our fault. It wasnt something created out of spectacular stuff. It was self-inflicted." TORONTO -- In search of depth up front, Toronto FC acquired English striker Luke Moore from the Colorado Rapids on Thursday in exchange for defender Gale Agbossoumonde. With Englands Jermain Defoe possibly headed to the World Cup and reserve forward Bright Dike a long-term casualty due to an Achilles injury, Toronto needed help for Brazils Gilberto with Mondays MLS transfer deadline looming. Toronto also has forwards Andrew Wiedeman and teenager Jordan Hamilton, currently on loan to the Wilmington Hammerheads. Attacking midfielders Dwayne De Rosario, Issey Nakajima-Farran and Brazils Jackson are also an attacking option. Toronto (3-4-0) has just seven goals in seven games, with Defoe accounting for three of them. Thats tied with Los Angeles and Montreal as the lowest scoring output in the league. Agbossoumonde, 22, had fallen down the defensive pecking order with Steven Caldwell, Doneil Henry, Bradley Orr and rookie Nick Hagglund preferred ahead of him. "With our current depth in defence we felt that the opportunity to acquire an attacking player like Luke Moore was the right decision to make at this time for the club as we approach the World Cup break," Toronto FC general manager Tim Bezbatchenko said in a statement. "With Lukes experience, he will be a welcomed addition to our squad and provide more options for us up front. Wed like to thank Gale for all of his contributions both on and off the pitch and wish him well in Colorado." Moore was acquired earlier this season by Colorado from Chivas USA. The 28-year-old made six appearances, with two starts and no goals, for Chivas. He arrived in the MLS during the off-season from Turkeys Sanica Boru Elazigspor. Moore began his career in England with Aston Villa in 2003, and later was part of Swanseas rise to the Premier League in 2011. Agbossoumonde, 22, was originally acquired on Dec. 20, 2012 through a weighted lottery at MLS headquarters. In two seasons, the American defender made 13 appearances, including 12 starts. Paul Bravo, Colorados vice-president of soccer operations, called Agbossoumonde "a talented young player who can add depth to our backline." Indianapolis Colts Jerseys China . Calling him an England striker would have been unthinkable before the last World Cup four years ago when he had just completed another season in the third tier of English football. But the 32-year-old Lambert is now in Miami as part of the 23-man squad heading to Brazil, and is getting ready to represent his country on the sports biggest stage. Enriching the fairytale aspect, Lambert on Monday completed his move from Southampton back to Premier League giant Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy but that discarded him as a player when he was 15. Out of football, Lambert found work in a beetroot factory, earning just 20 pounds a day. "It was absolutely devastating," Lambert recalled Monday. "I can remember at the time thinking I wasnt going to be a footballer -- Id been dropped from Liverpool and it was the end of the world for me. I was so devastated. "At the time, I thought nothing was ever going to feel worse than that, but I can tell people now life goes on and you shouldnt let it hit you too much ... but I never thought Id manage to get back." Following the pain of being rejected, Lambert forced his way through the lower leagues of English football, away from the glamor and riches of the Premier League, playing at Macclesfield, Stockport, Rochdale and Bristol Rovers before ending up at Southampton in 2009. On the south coast, Lambert established himself as a prolific scorer, helping power Southampton from the third tier to the Premier League and an eighth-place finish last month. By that point England coach Roy Hodgson had taken note, calling Lambert up for international duty for the first time last August. It was a dream debut at the age of 31, scorinng the winning goal in a friendly against archrival Scotland with his first touch at Wembley Stadium.dddddddddddd "Its an unfortunate truth if you want to get recognized at the top level you have to be playing at the top level," Hodgson said recently. Lambert is likely to see limited playing time at the World Cup, where Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge are expected to be the first-choice strikers. But he is likely to earn a fifth cap against Ecuador on Wednesday at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, but England could be relying on him for penalties in Brazil, having scored all 34 spot kicks for Southampton and only missing two in his career. "Im living a dream," Lambert said. "There is a buzz about the group at the moment and there is a lot of confidence." Whatever happens at the World Cup, Lambert is likely to make his debut soon in club footballs biggest competition, the Champions League, after completing his 4-million pound ($6.7 million) move to Liverpool. "Its going to be hard to keep my emotions in check the first time I pull on the Liverpool shirt," Lambert said on Liverpools website. "Its going to be very emotional, not just for me but also for my family. These kind of moments are driving me on. When I get these moments, I seem to produce my best performances and Im able to use it to my advantage." Lambert will provide competition up front for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, with Liverpool needing more strikers in its squad after qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in five years. "There isnt much sentiment in football and I dont think this move is anything to do with that," Lambert said. "Ive loved this club all my life. I left here 17 years ago -- and I havent stopped loving it since." NFL Jerseys Cheap China Jerseys Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Jerseys NFL Cheap ' ' '

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Nathan Gerbe scored the winning goal with 5:41 remaining to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators. Justin Faulk had a goal and an assist and Brad Malone also scored for the Hurricanes, who have won two of their last three. Anton Khudobin stopped 30 shots in the win. It was a good effort, said Carolina head coach Bill Peters. Everyone played good, valuable minutes and we found a way. Cody Ceci and Mark Stone scored for the Senators, who have lost two of three. Craig Anderson stopped 25 shots in the loss. I thought we didnt have a great start, but we were able to hang in there, said Ottawa head coach Dave Cameron. As the game went on, we got better, but they did a good job of clogging things up and slowing the game down. Late in the game with the score tied, Gerbe gave the Hurricanes the lead as his wrister from the slot found the back of the net after a long sequence in the Ottawa end. Ottawa pulled Anderson with over a minute to play, but was unable to net the equalizer. Carolina took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission as Patrick Dwyer used a quick chip out front to get the puck to Malone, who tapped it in with just 32 seconds showing on the clock. Ottawa tied the game with the only goal of the second period on a rush play that saw Erik Condras heavy wrister from the left wing fought off by Khudobin, but the rebound came out to the right circle and Ceci buried it at 4:19. The Senators took a 2-1 lead one minute into the third as Stone stickhandled past a defender before going with a hard wrister past the glove of Khudobin. Carolina, though, answered just 1:21 later as Faulks slap shot from the right point hit a body in front and trickled behind Anderson for his eighth goal of the season. BUFFALO, N.Y. - Ville Leino is out indefinitely after suffering a cracked rib in the Buffalo Sabres season opener, coach Ron Rolston said. Leino, who battled hip injuries on and off for four years, was finally healthy before Wednesday nights game at the Detroit Red Wings. Now hes out "at least a couple weeks," according to Rolston. "It happened in the first period, probably about three or four shifts in," Rolston said. "It was just sore and it, obviously overnight, seized up, and he had it checked." Leino finished the Red Wings game with 12:38 of ice time, including six third-period shifts. The Sabres will move Tyler Ennis to the wing and insert Johan Larsson at centre for Friday nights game against the Ottawa Senators. In addition to his hip, Leino also dealt with lung problems late last season. He played in just eight games last season and a total of 80 in a Sabres uniform since signing a US$27-million, six-year contract in the summer of 2011. The Sabres are already without three other forwards, including Corey Tropp, the forward who suffered a broken jaw in the pre-season fight with Jamie Devane that started the line brawl with the Toronto Maple Leafs. But this is another tough break for Leino, who has just 31 points in his Sabres career. "He had the injury bug, guys like him and Tropper you feel for," Rolston said. Robert Quinn Womens Jersey . Cincinnati ended its longest losing streak in five years by getting several good defensive plays and another dominating performance by its All-Star starter. Cueto (11-6) gave up four hits and walked three. Left-hander Aroldis Chapman pitched out of a two-on, two-out threat in the eighth and finished for his 22nd save in 24 chances. He extended his streak of at least one strikeout in his last 43 appearances, the longest by a reliever in the majors since 1900. The Reds offence has been in a deep slump, leading to Cincinnatis worst losing streak coming out of the All-Star break since 1991. They managed only four hits during a 4-1 loss on Friday night. They got four hits again on Saturday, but this time it was enough. Penas single through the left side of a drawn-in infield in the fifth inning made the difference against left-hander Gio Gonzalez (6-6), who gave up four hits and fanned eight in seven innings. He has been tough on the Reds throughout his career. He was 2-0 in his previous four starts against Cincinnati with a 1.00 ERA, allowing three earned runs and fanning 32 in 27 innings. Montreal Alouettes offensive lineman Scott Flory is expected to be named the new President of the CFLPA, according to the Hamilton Spectators Drew Edwards. REGINA -- Some children skipped school and adults did the same with work to join the crowd at a Grey Cup parade in Regina on Tuesday. The parade and rally were held to celebrate the Saskatchewan Roughriders 45-23 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Sunday in the CFLs championship game. Flatbed trucks carried players from Mosaic Stadium through part of downtown Regina that has been dubbed the "Green Mile" to the Saskatchewan legislature. Fans dressed in green and white cheered along the route, then followed the players to the rally at the provincial legislature. The biggest cheers were for Riders head coach Corey Chamblin, quarterback Darian Durant and running back Kory Sheets. "Lets go Riders," Chamblin shouted when he stepped up to the microphone at the rally, and the crowd echoed back. "I love it," said Chamblin. "This is a special place, with special people, with a special team and we deserve the cup. On behalf of the premier and the mayor, we all have the month of December off." Then came the chants of "Darian, Darian, Darian" and the Riders quarterback was greeted with wild enthusiasm. "I remember when we came back from Calgary in 2009 and I told you guys that wed be playing for plenty of Grey Cups ahead and I made that promise to you. And now Im so glad, with the help of my guys, to finally bring that Grey Cup right back here to Saskatchewan where it belongs," Durant said to the crowd. "I just want to thank everyone, especially in Rider Nation for all your support, not just for me but for this team.dddddddddddd "We had a lot of ups and downs this season, but we stuck together, you guys stuck with us, and now this is the ultimate reward at the end of the day. Theres no better feeling than to have won this Grey Cup right here in Saskatchewan, where it belongs." The crowd screamed when Durant went inside the legislature and raised the cup on a balcony over their heads. The path to winning the CFL championship was years in the making for the Roughriders. The organization, including general manager Brendan Taman, had been working to put together a championship winning team since 2011, when it was announced that Saskatchewan would host the 101st Grey Cup. Saskatchewan last won the cup in 2007. This was the first time the Riders have won the Grey Cup on their home turf. It was also the last Grey Cup to be played at Mosaic Stadium, which will be replaced with a new facility in 2017. The players were high-fiving and hugging fans, who stood shoulder to shoulder at the rally in temperatures that dipped into the minus teens. But Regina resident Dean Dohms said he wouldnt miss it. Dohms brought his two children to the parade and rally, saying he has "authorized the hooky (from school) today." "Its just such an amazing thing that we feel they need to take part in the whole thing," said Dohms. NFL Jerseys Cheap China Jerseys Cheap Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Jerseys NFL Cheap ' ' '

MONTREAL - Keeping up with the pace and playing solid two-way hockey will count for more than scoring goals at the Super Subway Series, says the head coach of Canadas team for the World Junior Hockey Championship.Benoit Groulx considers the six game series that pits Canadas major junior leagues against a visiting team from Russia as prime chance to evaluate players and decide who will be invited to the team selection camp.First of all, were going to face a very good Russian team, Groulx said Monday. Its an opportunity for our guys to show us how they can adapt to that level and the style of hockey we want to play. Its not about showcasing themselves by scoring goals or only playing one way. Its about playing our style. Its a great opportunity for us to see who can adapt to that level of hockey. There is extra attention on the Canadian team, and its star attraction Connor McDavid of the Erie Otters, with the world juniors to be held Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Montreal and Toronto. Canada has not won gold since 2009 in Ottawa. The Subway Series has an all-star team from the Western Hockey League facing the Russian national juniors Nov. 10 in Saskatoon and the following night in Brandon, Man.The Ontario Hockey League stars play them Nov. 13 in Peterborough and Nov. 17 in Kingston, while the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League faces the Russians Nov. 18 in Bathurst, N.B. and Nov. 20 in Rimouski, Que.The games will go a long way toward deciding which players, and how many, will be invited to the selection camp Dec. 11-15 at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto. We want to have a competitive camp, said Groulx. Well see after the Subway Series how it plays out. There were 41 players at a summer evaluation camp in Montreal, but some of them are likely to be kept by the NHL teams that drafted them. Aaron Ekblad, the first overall pick in June, is doing well with the Florida Panthers while 2013 third-overall pick Jonathan Drouin may stick with the Tampa Bay Lightning, although he was recently demoted to the fourth line. The Canadian team that finished fourth at the world juniors in Malmo, Sweden in January, had 11 players eligible to return this year, including Ekblad, Drouin and the 17-year-old McDavid, a favourite to go first overall in the 2015 NHL draft.Others are goalie Zach Fucale of the Halifax Mooseheads, defencemen Chris Bigras of the Owen Sound Attack and Josh Morressey of the Prince Albert Raiders and forwards Frederik Gauthier of the Rimouski Oceanic, Bo Horvat of the London Knights, Curtis Lazar of the Edmonton Oil Kings, Nic Petan of the Portland Winterhawks and Sam Reinhart of the Kootenay Ice.Reinhart was sent back to junior by the Buffalo Sabres last week. Horvat was injured in an NHL pre-season game with the Vancouver Canucks. He returned on the weekend from an AHL conditioning stint, but it is not known if the Vancouver Canucks will keep him or return him to London. The Ottawa Senators have the same decision to make on Lazar. Some NHL clubs may opt to keep a junior age player, but then loan him out for the world juniors if they feel that is best for his development.Groulx isnt worrying about which NHL players will be available until he has to.Were watching everybody, but mostly our guys in junior hockey, he said. Thats the one we focus on because we know well get the best players out of our three leagues.Well wait and address the situation when the time comes. Everythings in play now. Its too early to tell exactly whats going to happen. Some high draft picks will be in the running, including fourth overall pick Sam Bennett of the Kingston Frontenacs, fifth overall Michael Dal Colle of the Oshawa Generals, sixth pick Jake Vertanen of the Calgary Hitmen, and seventh pick Haydn Fleury of the Red Deer Rebels.Right-winger Emile Poirier of Groulxs Gatineau Olympiques may also have a shot, as would Guelph Storm forward Robby Fabbri and rearguard Darnell Nurse of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The Canadian team hopes to play what Groulx called the tight checking style used by Canada to win gold at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.Groulx attended a news conference at which Martin Raymond, who has been announced Oct. 15 would be an assistant coach, was made available to the media.Raymond, a former Tampa Bay assistant who now coaches the Drummondville Voltigeurs, will act as advance scout to help in game planning and be the spotter from the pressbox during games. Its different but also exciting, said Raymond, who coached Canadas under-18 squad to a gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka tournament in the Czech Republic in August. Its fun to watch what the Swedes do and then watch the Slovaks and the U.S., all different styles. Its part of coaching I really enjoy.Tournament organizers also announced a series of ticket mini packages to help spur lagging sales in Montreal, where Canada will play its preliminary round games before moving to Toronto for the knockout games.Canada opens the tournament Dec. 26 against Slovakia at the Bell Centre. BOSTON -- Jared Sullinger was at a loss to explain how his Boston Celtics could win while committing a season-high 28 turnovers. "I honestly dont know," he said. Try this: 20 points, nine assists and seven rebounds by Rajon Rondo, a 62-37 rebounding advantage by the Celtics and a horrible 4-for-30 shooting performance on 3-pointers by the Nets. The result was a 91-84 victory in which Brooklyn never led and had its four-game winning streak stopped Friday night. The rebounding "was obviously the difference in the game for us, from our standpoint. That, and they missed the 3s," Boston coach Brad Stevens said. "Id like to say that it was this outstanding 3-point defence, but I think when you re-watch it, its a lot of open 3s they missed." The Celtics scored the first five points and won for just the second time in nine games. And they held off Brooklyn after an 11-point run cut the lead to 70-68 with 2:02 left in the third quarter. The Celtics came back to take a 78-70 lead entering the final quarter and led by at least seven points the rest of the way. "We shared the ball pretty well with our team, and theirs," Stevens said after watching the Celtics commit twice as many turnovers as Brooklyn, "so, overall, it was at least a step in the right direction." The Nets were led by Joe Johnson with 21 points and Deron Williams with 20 as they fell back to .500 two days after going over the mark for the first time this season. The Celtics (21-41) were coming off a very poor performance in a 108-88 loss to Golden State on Wednesday night. "We need to keep working, keep grinding and understand we cant take anyone lightly," Nets coach Jason Kidd said. Jason Collins, the NBAs first openly gay player, did not play for the Nets for the first time in seven games since signing a 10-day contract Feb. 23. Collins, who played for the Celtics last season, signed a second 10-day contract Wednesday. The Celtics got 15 points from Jeff Green and 14 from Jerryd Bayless. Sullinger led all rebounders with 12. But Rondo was the key, despite his seven turnovers. Rondo missed the first 40 games recovering from off-season knee surgery and has shown an improved shooting touch recently. He hit three of six 3-pointers Friday. "He did a tremendous job coming into the season working on his jumper constantly," Sullinger said. "Now hes starting to become the Rondo we all know every day." Paul Pierce scored 10 points in his second appearance in Boston since the blockbuster trade that sent him and Kevin Garnett to the Nets in the off-season. Pierce spent 15 seasons with the Celtics after they drafted him with the 10th pick in 1998. He received light applause when he was introduced with the other Nets starters. Garnett missed his fourth straight game with back spasms. "Every time I come into this gym, its going to be emotion. Not like last time, though," Pierce said. "We just didnt have any rhythm on offence or defence." Pierce and Garnett each scored six points in their first game in Boston this season, an 85-79 Brooklyn win Jan. 26. Both were emotional during and after video tributes on the video screen above centre court. On Friday, the Celtics led 53-41 at halftime -- after the Nets missed all 17 of their 3-pointers -- and 70-57 with four minutes left in the third quarter. Brooklyn scored the next 11 points with Shaun Livingston starting the spurt with two free throws and Andray Blatche following with a 3-pointer. Andrei Kirilenko made a three-point play, Marcus Thornton sank a layup and Johnson hit a free throw. Green ended the run with a three-point play, the Celtics led 78-70 entering the fourth quarter and stayed ahead by at least seven the rest of the way. Despite all those turnovers. "I remember Bobby Knight on ESPN said the team that had the most turnovers is going to lose," Sullinger said. "I guess we exceeded that expectation." NOTES: Celtics C Vitor Faverani will miss the rest of the season after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to repair a torn lateral meniscus on Friday. ... DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Defending champion Novak Djokovic needed less than an hour to advance at the Dubai Championships on Wednesday, while Roger Federer faced a struggle to seal his place in the quarterfinals. Top-seeded Djokovic swept to a 6-1, 6-3 win over 51st-ranked Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain in just 57 minutes, but fourth-seeded Federer had to see off a serious challenge from 48th-ranked Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic before coming through 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3. "I have done really well today from the first to the last point," Djokovic said. "There was no major ups and downs, especially with the serve that helped me to win comfortably my service games, a lot of free points." In the first set, Djokovic raced to a 5-0 lead before Bautista Agut held serve to win his only game in the set. The only hiccup Djokovic had in the second set was when serving for the match at 5-2. He dropped his serve in that game but broke serve in the next to close out the match. Djokovic will play sixth-seeded Mikhail Youzhny, who beat British wildcard recipient James Ward 6-1, 7-6 (3). Federer came into his two hour, eight minute match with a 12-2 winning record over Stepanek. Hes now won their last nine meetings dating back to the 2008 Rome quarterfinals. "I got broken four times which is difficult, but its good to win those type of matches," said Federer, who faced eight break points against his serve. "Im happy to get through. "It didnt look good there for a while, but I got it done." Federer handled the first set with confidence, but started to falter as Stepanek became more aggressive in the second set. Federer managed to rebound from 4-2 down in the second set to force a tiebreaker -- where Stepanek raced into a 6-2 and a first set point when Federer double faulted. Stepanek won the set on his third set point when Federer netted a forehand. Stepanek also took an early 2-0 lead in the third set, but Federer rebounded to go ahead 5-2 to serve for the match. Federers serve was broken when he double faulted in the eighth game. Stepanek, however, surrendered his serve in the next game to allow Federer to move into the quarterfinals. Hell now face another Czech player in Lukas Rosol, who upset eighth-seeded Dmitry Tursunov of Russia 6-4, 7-6 (4). "Today was quite frustrating," Federer said. "I had momentum on my side at the beginning, but it was tough to keep it going. "After the first set I was under pressure the entire match." Like Djokovic, third-seeded Tomas Berdych had an easy path to the quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine. Berdych, who will face fifth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinals, has won his last eight matches. Despite Berdych having trouble with his first serve -- his percentage was a ghastly 37 per cent -- he controlled the match. He lost his serve once, and won 12 of the last 14 points. "I was working a little more on my return stats than on my service stats," Berdych said. "The main focus really for the next days is to get my percentage of the first serve back and really find a nice and sweet rhythm for my serve." Tsonga won his second-round match by walkover when his opponent, Nikolay Davydenko, withdrew with a rib injury. Seventh-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Andrea Seppi of Italy. Kohlschreiber will play Tunisian wild card Malek Jaziri, who beat Somdev Devvarman of India 6-3, 7-5. Nike Air Max Baratas España Nike Air Max 87 Mujer Baratas . NEW YORK, N.Y. - Free agent outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury, fresh off winning the World Series with Boston, reached agreement with the rival New York Yankees on a seven-year contract worth about $153 million, a person familiar with the negotiations said Tuesday night. Ellsbury is the second major free-agent addition in the Yankees off-season rebuilding after missing the playoffs for just the second time in 19 years. The centre fielder was to take a physical in New York on Wednesday that he must pass before the deal can be finalized, the person said, speaking on condition of anonymity because no statements were authorized. The Yankees also had been negotiating with outfielder Shin-Soo Choo, who like Ellsbury is represented by agent Scott Boras. Earlier Tuesday, New York finalized an $85 million, five-year contract with All-Star catcher Brian McCann. There is a long history of stars moving from Beantown to the Big Apple during their careers. Babe Ruth was the most famous, and Roger Clemens, Wade Boggs and Johnny Damon followed. Ellsbury, who turned 30 in September, led the majors with 52 stolen bases despite being hobbled late in the season by a broken right foot. The lefty-hitting leadoff man batted .298 with nine homers and 53 RBIs, and the short right-field porch at Yankee Stadium should boost his power numbers. Ellsburys deal includes a $21 million option for the 2021 season, with a $5 million buyout. If the option is exercised, the deal would be worth $169 million over eight years. His agreement may not be finalized this week, and its possible he could be introduced by the Yankees during a news conference at the winter meetings next week in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The move would raise the Yankees luxury tax payroll to about $138 million for 10 players. The Yankees hope to get under the $189 million tax threshold next season, which includes about $177 million for salaries for the 40-man roster and approximately $12 million for benefits. New York also has been speaking with the agents for Robinson Cano, their All-Star second baseman. The Yankees, who rebuffed his request for a 10-year deal worth more than $300 million, believe he has been in talks with the Seattle Mariners. Ellsbury won a pair of World Series titles with the Red Sox and was an All-Star in 2011, when he finished second to Detroits Justin Verlander in AL MVP voting. He has reached the post-season four times and is a career .301 hitter in those 38 games. After their playoff absence, the Yankees are undergoing a major transformation. Closer Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte are retiring, Phil Hughes is leaving to sign with Minnesota and New York appears to be making little effort to retain outfielder Curtis Granderson. McCann, a seven-time All-Star, is to be introduced at a news conference Thursday at Yankee Stadium. He receives $17 million in each of the next five seasons, and the Yankees have a $15 million option for 2019 with no buyout. The option becomes McCanns if he has at least 1,000 plate appearances combined in 2017 and 2018, has at least 90 starts at catcher in 2018 and does not end the 2018 season on the disabled list. His deal includes a full no-trade provision, meaning he cannot be dealt without his consent. McCann, who turns 30 in February, hit .256 with 20 homers and 57 RBIs in 102 games this year, when he missed the first month following off-season surgery on his right shoulder. He has a .277 average in nine big league seasons with 176 homers and 661 RBIs. Following the departure of Russell Martin last off-season, Yankees catchers combined for a .213 average, eight homers and 43 RBIs, according to STATS, down from .220, 22 and 64 in 2012. "We feel we have made a significant improvement to a key position, while adding a high-character presence to our clubhouse," Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner said in a statement. "Our work this off-season has just begun, but we feel this is an important step towards what will be an exciting and rewarding 2014 season for our fans." Custom Nets Jersey .Y. -- Sabres coach Ted Nolan will keep building what he started in Buffalo -- minus the interim tag.VANCOUVER - After a short break during the group stages of the World Cup, the Major League Soccer season gets back underway on Wednesday night with an all-Canadian clash at BC Place as Vancouver Whitecaps host Montreal Impact (live on TSN and TSN 690 at 9:30pm et/6:30pm pt). The Whitecaps will look to pick up where they left off and cement a place in the Western Conference playoff places, while Montreal will be hoping for a much different story after an extremely disappointing start to the MLS season. Winning the Canadian Championship was the bright spot so far this year for an Impact team that sits bottom of the Eastern Conference. The Form: The Whitecaps enter the match unbeaten in their last seven matches (Won 3, Tied 4) while the Impact have won just twice all season and have only picked up two points from their previous six matches on the road. Vancouver needed a late penalty from Pedro Morales to rescue a point at Philadelphia in their last match, despite leading the game 2-0 at PPL Park. The Whitecaps have been having no trouble scoring goals, but will need to tighten up defensively if they are to build on their excellent start to the year. The Caps havent lost in MLS since April 12 when they were beaten 1-0 by LA Galaxy in California. Vancouver are unbeaten against Eastern Conference opposition so far this season. After beating Toronto FC to be crowned Canadian champions, and winning at home to high flying New England, Montreals revival came to a crashing halt with a 4-2 loss at home to DC United two weeks ago. Things have improved for the Impact since they started the season by taking just three points from a possible 21 through their first seven matches, but they will need to be consistently strong between now and the end of the year if they are to have any chance of getting into the playoff race. The Impact are currently eight points outside the playoff places. With only 13 goals in 13 matches, the Impact are the lowest scoring team in MLS, but the signing of Jack McInerney has proved to be an excellent addition. The Big Question: Will Montreals defence be able to cope with Vancouvers speedsters? The Whitecaps have caused plenty of problems for their opponents this year with lots of attacking options, and Chilean midfielder Pedro Morales proving to be the perfect set-up man. Striker Erik Hurtado has been leading the way in recent games with five goals in his last five matches in all competitions. Hurtado has shown the ability to cause defenders all kinds of problems with his strength and speed, and the Whitecaps can also call upon the pace of Kekuta Manneh and Darren Mattocks. In their last match before the break, Montreal defended poorly and conceded four goals at home to DC United, however, in their previouus game, they managed to keep a clean sheet against a strong New England team.dddddddddddd If the Impact defence isnt switched on from minute one, the Whitecaps young guns could take advantage. Montreal coach Frank Klopas has the chance to make changes in defence if he chooses, with the recent additions of Futty Danso from Portland, and former Sporting KC man Mechack Jerome. The Lineup: There are a few decisions for Whitecaps coach Carl Robinson to make with regards to his starting lineup. Captain Jay DeMerit came off injured in the tie at Philadelphia and is sidelined for six weeks. Robinson will choose from Andy OBrien, Carlyle Mitchell, Johnny Leveron and Christian Dean to fill the two central defensive places. At the other end of the pitch, it is possible the Caps could start with Mattocks and Manneh supporting Hurtado. Robinson has said he would love to see the three players start together at some stage and it is possible that this could be the occasion to try it. If not, one of the Whitecaps two Uruguayans, Sebastien Fernandez or Nicolas Mezquida, could get the start. With Marco Di Vaio and Justin Mapp expected to miss the match through injury, the Impact will be relying on McInerney and Andres Romero to provide a goal scoring edge. Both players have been in good form of late. McInerney has four goals in eight MLS appearances since joining the Impact from Philadelphia, and Romero had scored in his last three MLS matches. The most interesting decision for Montreal will be who Klopas decides to play in defence, and whether or not either Danso or Jerome will be handed an Impact debut. In midfield, Klopas could give a debut to 30-year-old Spaniard Gorka Larrea who played 90 minutes in the reserves against Harrisburg City Islanders last Friday. The Odds: This is only the third meeting between the two sides in Major League Soccer, with the Whitecaps having won both of the previous encounters. Montreal havent played a league match in Vancouver since losing 2-0 in the clubs inaugural MLS game in March 2012, but the Impact were celebrating after their last match at BC Place. A 2-2 tie last spring in the second leg of the Amway Canadian Championship saw Montreal lift the Voyageurs Cup. With Vancouvers strong home form and Montreals difficulties on the road the Whitecaps will be strong favourites heading in. Carl Robinsons team has lost just once at BC Place this season, while the Impact are yet to win away. Where to Watch: Join me along with Jason de Vos and Perry Solkowski for all of the action from BC Place. We are live on TSN with the pre-match show starting at 9:30pm et/6:30pm pt. There will be features on Carl Robinson, Kekuta Manneh, and Montreals Canadian international winger Issey Nakajima-Farran. NEW YORK -- Dirk Nowitzki called it "probably the ugliest game-winner I ever shot," and this is how he described it. "Basically it hit the board, every part of the rim, hit Jerry West over there (the logo on the backboard), came back over and it was definitely an ugly, ugly shot," he said. But when the 19-foot jumper bounced up and then fell in as time expired, the Dallas Mavericks had a 110-108 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday night. The Mavericks blew an eight-point lead in the final 90 seconds, then pulled out their third straight victory when Nowitzkis jumper that seemed to have missed instead fell through. "I didnt even feel like celebrating it was so ugly," Nowitzki said. His teammates and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban did it for him, rushing onto the floor after Dallas moved into seventh place in the Western Conference. Carmelo Anthony had 44 points and nine rebounds for the Knicks. He played strong defence on the Mavericks final possession, but was left standing in disbelief long after the buzzer after Nowitzkis shot appeared to hit the backboard first, then the front rim, then bounced up before dropping. "It was like a needle in a balloon right there," Anthony said. "It sucks all the air out of you. He hit a hell of a shot." Vince Carter made seven three-pointers and scored a season-high 23 points. Monta Ellis had 22 for Dallas (35-23), which has won nine of 11 and is a season-best 12 games over .500. Jose Calderon finished with 20 points for the Mavericks, who swept a three-game road trip and beat the Knicks for the 20th time in the last 25 meetings. Nowitzki had just 15 points after missing all five three-point attempts. "Thats one thing about the greatest players. I played with (Larry) Bird for three years. He took more pleasure in hitting a game-winning shot after he missed eight or nine in a row than having a great game at times," Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. Tyson Chandler had 12 points and 12 rebounds against his former team, sparking the Knicks comeback after they trailed 108-100 with 1:37 left. But New York (21-36) lost for the sixth time in seven games and fell a season-worst 15 games below .500. The Knicks had blown big leads in their last two games, giving away a 14-point advantage at Orlando and a 17-point cushion at Atlanta, collapses that coach Mike Woodson called "mind-boggling." This one had to hurt worse. "There were games last year when our backs were against the wall and we just found a way to win," Woodson said. "This year when weve been in the situation where we needed a big stop or two we havent been able to get it done." The Mavericks seemed to have put it away when Calderon made a three-pointer, and Brandan Wright followed with a basket to stretch the late lead to eight points. But after Raymond Feltons basket, Chandler converted a three-point play, then came up with a steal to start a break that ended with Anthonys three-pointer that tied it at 108 with 50 seconds remaining. The Knicks got the ball back after a Dallas miss but committed a shot-clock violation, giving Dallas the ball for Nowitzkis winner. "We maybe shouldnt be in the situation at the end, I think six points up," Calderon said. "It was a good lead with 1:20 or something, but it was good at the end." Amare Stoudemire scored nine points in his first start since the end of the 2011-12 season for the Knicks, who had just 10 available players after waiving Metta World Peace and Beno Udrih earlier Monday following contract buyouts. The Mavericks shot 55 per cent and led 31-21 after one quarter, but the Knicks came right back and made 14 of 19 shots (74 per cent) while scoring 38 points in the second, when Anthony scored 17 points. New York erased a 14-point deficit to grab a two-point lead on Anthonys jumper with 11 seconds left, but Ellis made a three-pointer as time expired to give Dallas a 60-59 edge. Dallas had the lead back up to eight in the final minute of the third, but Anthony made three free throws, then nailed a three-pointer with 0.6 seconds remaining as the Knicks trimmed it to 84-82. NOTES: Woodson said he would talk with team president Steve Mills on Tuesday to discuss filling the teams open roster spots. He said he thought the Knicks needed a big man with Andrea Bargnani and Kenyon Martin still injured, and a guard who could defend on the perimeter. ... MILWAUKEE -- Free agent Jerryd Bayless signed with the Milwaukee Bucks in large part because of Jason Kidd. The 6-foot-3 guard played for Memphis and Boston last season, averaging 9.3 points in 72 games. Now he gets a chance to play for Jason Kidd, who left the Brooklyn Nets this summer to coach the Bucks. "The thing that was most intriguing was Kidd," Bayless said Thursday at the Bucks training facility. "He can help me in a variety of different ways. There arent a lot of guys like him that come around." General manager John Hammond announced the deal Thursday, but terms were not disclosed. Kidd, one of the NBAs great point guards, spent 19 seasons in the league. He is beginning his second year as an NBA coach. Bayless calls him a "once-in-a-generation" player. "Hes a young coach, but hes been in the league a long time," Bayless said. Bayless was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 11th pick in the 2008 draft. He was traded to Portland before his rookie season. Only 25 but entering his seventh NBA season, Bayless joins a team that has three teenagers on its roster. "Even though Im younger Ive been through a lot in this league and Ill try to teach these guys the right way to do things," Bayless said. Bayless played one season in college. MILWAUKEE -- Ryan Braun hadnt done much except get hit by a pitch. He made up for it with one swing in the bottom of the ninth. Braun was hit by a pitch in the seventh inning that scored a run and had an RBI single in the ninth, lifting the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night. "I got beat up pretty good," Braun said. "Ill take it. Ill take them both." Braun thought the Rockies might pitch around him. He had already struck out twice and grounded out while Jonathan Lucroy had two hits and a RBI. "Typically, there is probably a higher likelihood that they pitch around me," Braun said. "I have been swinging so terribly and Luc has been swinging so great that that combination probably enticed them to at least come at me a little bit." Rockies manager Walt Weiss told reliever Matt Belisle to pitch carefully to Braun, but the strategy didnt work. "Ill always take responsibility for that one," Walt Weiss said. "Could have put him on. Its a tough situation for Mattie. Hes trying to get him to expand for a couple of pitches. The ball was maybe a little up. Braun went up and got it." Mark Reynolds led off the ninth with a single off Belisle (2-3) and advanced on a sacrifice by Jean Segura. Scooter Gennett pinch hit for Francisco Rodriguez (3-2) and was intentionally walked. The runners advanced on a passed ball by catcher Michael McKenry. After Rickie Weeks went down swinging, Braun drilled Belisles first pitch up the middle. "I dont think they were trying to throw it where he ended up throwing it," Braun said after collecting his first walk-off hit since 2011. Josh Rutledge tied the game when he homered off Rodriguez with one out in the ninth. Rutledge hit a 3-2 pitch that just barely cleared the wall in left for his second homer this season. Rodriguez was trying to help Kyle Lohse win his third straight start. Lohse has been victimized by five blown saves this season. He allowed one run on seven hits over seven innings and came within two outs of beating the Rockies for the second time in five days. Sunday, he pitched five innings and allowed three runs on seven hits in the Brewers 6-5 win in Colorado. Rodriguez leads the majorss with 27 saves, but this was his third blown save this season.dddddddddddd Lohse had plenty of sympathy for Rodriguez. "I feel bad for K-Rod because hes been pitching so well, but the bottom line is we won," Lohse said. "He came in and did what he does. Ill take K-Rod closing out one of my games any time." The Brewers became the first team in the majors to record 50 wins. Their NL-leading record (50-32) is the best in team history through 82 games. They have 13 games left to top the team record of 54 wins before the All-Star game. The Brewers also improved to 5-0 in the season series with the Rockies. "Its nice to be the first one to 50 wins, for sure," Braun said. "Were excited with the way that weve played so far, but theres still a lot of baseball left." The Brewers went ahead 2-1 in the seventh. Khris Davis doubled off Nick Masset to start the inning and Reynolds followed with a walk. Both advanced on a sacrifice by Segura. When Lyle Overbay was announced as the pinch hitter for Lohse, the Rockies brought in Rex Brothers. The Brewers countered with Martin Maldonado, who struck out swinging. After Weeks walked, Adam Ottavino came on to face Braun and hit him with the first pitch. Lucroy hit into a fielders choice for the third out. The Rockies scored their run in the seventh on a sacrifice by pinch-hitter Brandon Barnes that scored Rutledge. The Brewers scored first when Lucroy chopped an RBI single over second base off rookie Tyler Matzek in the sixth. Matzek went six innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out three. NOTES: The Rockies challenged the call when Carlos Gomez was ruled safe at second in the eighth inning. The decision was reversed in under 2 minutes. . Rockies C Wilin Rosario, who left Thursday nights game with lower back tightness, missed the game. Weiss said that the injury was not serious, but enough to keep him out of the lineup. . MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Grizzlies owner Robert Pera has followed through with his promise to open up his checkbook by signing Dave Joerger to a contract extension just days after allowing the coach to speak to the Minnesota Timberwolves about their vacancy. The Grizzlies announced Joergers extension Tuesday. Terms of the deal werent disclosed by the team, but Joerger said on ESPN 92.9 FM in Memphis that owner Robert Pera guaranteed the fourth year of his contract with a fifth year a team option. "He put his money right where his mouth is, and I put my money right where my mouth is ...," Joerger said. "Its good for both parties. Mike Conley and I were talking about weve been together for a long time brother. Now weve got another three, four, five year run on this deal." Pera wrote on Twitter that he finally had talked one-on-one with Joerger after his return from Minnesota where the coach interviewed twice in three days with the Timberwolves. "Following an open and honest dialogue with Dave, it became clear that Dave was fully committed to Memphis and we are committed to him," Pera said. "I look forward to seeing Dave build upon the foundation he helped establish over the last seven years, and we are both committed to bringing a championship to Memphis." Joerger went 50-32 for the best record among 10 first-year coaches and helped Memphis earn the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference during his first season on the job after being an assistant the previous six seasons. The Grizzlies lost in seven games to Oklahoma City in the first round of the playoffs. But he was the Western Conference coach of the month in January and April, the only first-year coach to win the award twice since the NBA split into conferences in 20002-03. Joerger said three other teams called for permission to talk to him last week only to be turned down. The Minnesota native was allowed to talk to the Timberwolves and now is thanking Pera for believing in him. "I am 100 per cent committed to leading the Grizzlies and I could not be more proud to call Memphis home," Joerger said. Pera still has to decide who will be running the Grizzlies. General manager Chris Wallace currently is in charge temporarily, and the Grizzlies hold the No. 22 pick overall in the NBA Draft in a month. Zach Randolph has an option for the next season and signing him to an extension would give Memphis more space with the salary cap. Joerger said Pera wants to be more involved in the franchise and knows exactly what he wants to do moving forward. "Im here to tell you this thing is going to be very positive," Joerger said. Jacksonville, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh Scobee kicked a 43-yard field goal with 28 seconds remaining to give the Jacksonville Jaguars a stunning 25-24 come-from-behind victory over the reeling New York Giants on Sunday at Everbank Field. The Jaguars (2-10) scored a pair of defensive touchdowns in the second half to rally from a 21-0 deficit, ending a four-game slide while sending the Giants (3-9) to their seventh straight loss. Blake Bortles helped the comeback, throwing for 194 yards with a touchdown. He also rushed for a team-high 68 yards on five carries, including a 20-yard run that set up Scobees go-ahead kick. Josh Brown kicked a 33-yard field goal to give the Giants a 24-22 lead with 3:26 remaining, ending a string of 22 straight Jacksonville points, but the Jaguars would not be denied. Jacksonville overcame a pair of penalties and marched 55 yards to reach field goal range for Scobee, who easily split the uprights to put the Jaguars back on top. Bortles keyed the drive with a pair of big plays. He followed a false start penalty with a 22-yard pass to Marqise Lee and later followed a holding call with his 20-yard run to the New York 20-yard line. The Jaguars defense then sealed it on the first play after the kickoff when Eli Manning fumbled while being sacked and Chris Clemons recovered. Manning threw for 247 yards with a touchdown and Rashad Jennings ran for 91 yards with a pair of scores for New York, which hasnt won since a 30-20 triumph against Atlanta on Oct. 5. BERLIN -- Arjen Robben scored twice for unbeaten Bayern Munich to beat bottom side Eintracht Braunschweig 2-0 in the Bundesliga on Saturday, while Borussia Dortmund needed two late penalties to win 3-1 at Mainz. Robben scored in the second minute after Mario Goetze picked him out with a ball over the top. The Dutchmans initial effort struck the post but the rebound fell kindly for him to head home. He added his second in the 30th when he cut inside two defenders before letting fly. "It was clear that it was going to be a huge challenge for us," said Braunschweig coach Torsten Lieberknecht, whose squad reportedly cost 128 times less than Bayerns. Bayern utterly dominated the first half but the visitors were unlucky not to score in the second as the home side relaxed. David Alaba saved goalkeeper Manuel Neuers blushes by clearing Domi Kumbelas goal-bound effort off the line, and Kevin Kratz hit the crossbar with a deflected free kick late in the game, which Bayern ended on the counterattack. "It was a difficult game because weve come from Dortmund and Moscow," said Bayern coach Pep Guardiola, referring to his sides previous league and Champions League games. "Its another game more and we won. In the end Im very satisfied with the performance," the Spaniard added, after Bayern stretched its record unbeaten run to 39 games. Dortmund found Mainz a tough nut to crack as Juergen Klopp returned to the club where he spent his entire playing career and coached for 7 1/2 years. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally broke the deadlock in the 70th, with a free kick that went in off the left post. But Mainz equalized through Eric Maxim Choupo-Motings penalty four minutes later after Lukasz Piszczek brought down Yanus Malli. Robert Lewandowski restored Dortmunds lead through another penalty five minutes after that, and Mainz midfielder Elkin Soto was sent off for handling Aubameyangs effort on goal, before Lewandowski gave the scoreline a flattering look with another penalty in injury time. "Im totally happy with the result and with the way the game went," Klopp said. Werder Bremen scored in the last minute for a 4-4 draw at Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen beat relegation-threatened Nuremberg 3-0 and Hertha Berlin drew 0-0 with Augsburg. Schalke defeated Stuttgart 3-0 in the late game to climb fifth and ease the pressure on coach Jens Keller. "We played well here. Its crazy that it could end 3-0," said Stuttgart coach Thomas Schneider, whose side has just one win from its last seven games. Jefferson Farfan scored in the 34th when Julian Draxler set him up on the right and claimed his second in the 47th from the penalty spot -- the seventh awarded in the Bundesliga on Saturday -- after Draxler made the most of Christian Gentners contact to go down. United States midfielder Jermaine Jones, who ran over 12 kilometres (7 1/2 miles) during the game, secured the result with a powerful shot inside the left post in the 79th. "I have to pick one player out -- Jermaine Jones has taken criticism before, from me included, but he was outstanding today and Im happy he got his goal," Keller said. Earlier, Sejad Salihovic scored two penalties within six minutes for Hoffenheim to lead 2-0 by the 18th minute. Bremen captain Aaron Hunt pulled one back in the 45th, also from the penalty spot, one minute before Eljero Elia equalized when Hunts harmless-looking cross slipped through Koen Casteels fingers. Salihovic crossed for Kevin Volland to score four minutes after the break, and Kai Herdling made it 4-2 with a fine strike four minutes later. But Nils Petersen pulled one back in the 59th and Philipp Bargfrede scored his first Bundesliga goal very late to secure an unlikely draw for Bremen. "Im happy for all the neutral fans and the journalists -- they enjoyed the game. For us coaches on the other hand, it would often make you tear your hair out," Bremen coach Robin Dutt said. His counterpart was equally unappreciative. "If we played normal games for the whole season, you could say that such a game is awesome," Hoffenheim coach Markus Gisdol said. "But its like that every week with us. Its starting to get annoying." Leverkusen, humiliated in Wednesdays 5-0 home defeat to Manchester United in the Champions League, remains four points adrift of Bayern after the sides 11th win from 14 games. Sami Hyypias side endured a difficult start against Nuremberg before Son Heung-min scored with a neat finish in the 36th, Jens Hegeler set up Stefan Kiessling with his heel two minutes after the break, and Son scored his second in the 76th. (SportsNetwork.com) - The New Jersey Devils have managed to stay afloat in the Eastern Conference playoff race thanks to their recent play. The club hopes to add another win to its cause when the Calgary Flames visit Prudential Center on Monday. The Devils have posted wins in three of their last four games and are currently riding a seven-game point streak with a 4-0-3 record over that stretch. Still, New Jersey is just outside the playoff picture with 84 points, leaving the club tied with Toronto and three points behind Columbus for the Easts second wild card spot. The Devils also are four in back of Detroit for the first wild card berth. Like Columbus and Detroit, the Devils have four games remaining in the regular season, while the Maple Leafs have only three tilts left. New Jersey is the only team from that group in action on Monday. New Jersey won its second straight game on Saturday with a 3-1 road victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Dainius Zubrus scored twice and Cory Schneider stopped 26 shots to help the Devils record two valuable points. Zubrus recorded his second two-goal game of the campaign and now has 13 markers on the season. "It was nice for (Zubrus)," Devils head coach Peter DeBoer said of Zubrus. "He works hard every night and doesnt get rewarded a lot." Travis Zajac netted what proved to be the game-winner 6:34 into the second, while Schneider turned aside all eight shots he faced in the third for the Devils. Schneider has started the last three games for New Jersey and could get the call over Martin Brodeur again tonight. The 28-year-old American is 4-2-0 with a 2.13 goals against average and .936 save percentage in six career games against Calgary. New Jersey has won two straight and three of its last four home games and is 20-10-8 in Newark this season. Although the Flames have been eliminated from postseason contention out West, the club has played with pride down the stretch and picked up a second straight win in Fridays 2-1 road victory at Florida. The win gave Calgary a 2-2-0 mark on a five-game road trip that ends tonight in the Garden State. Mike Cammalleri netted the winner early in the second period and Joey MacDonald stopped 34 pucks to help the Flames down the Panthers, 2-1. Kenny Agostino also produced his first NHL goal for the Flames, who have won six of 10. "We promised our fans and we even promised ourselves that we would play the games to win until the final second of the regular season," Calgary head coach Bob Hartley said of his team playing hard down the stretch. Calgary, which is 15-20-4 as the road club this season, beat a visiting Devils club back on Oct. 11. Sean Monahan notched the game-winning goal with 2:43 remaining for the Flames, as they downed the Devils, 3-2, at the Saddledome. The Flames have won two straight and three of their last four overall games against New Jersey, but the Devils have claimed two in a row and three of four at home in this series. NFL Jerseys Cheap . JOHNS, N.L. -- The playoffs are a sure thing for the St. Johns IceCaps, and Sundays 6-2 win over the Hartford Wolf Pack featured a realistic playoff line-up for the home team. With the Winnipeg Jets season ending, the IceCaps were sent back six players, five of which drew into the line-up for Sundays game: Carl Klingberg, Patrice Cormier, Eric ODell, Ben Chiarot and Zach Redmond. "These are players that (are here) to give us our best chance of success this year," IceCaps head coach Keith McCambridge said. "I thought they came down and their play, the energy, was good. I liked the way all those players played tonight. One of the returnees, Carl Klingberg, said hes ready for the playoffs. "We all knew we were going back (from Winnipeg at seasons end), and it was a lot of fun coming back here. I felt really good to be back. Were always trying to work hard, and we all did. We didnt come out perfectly in the first, but we battled back We battled for each other." After Saturdays 7-2 loss, McCambridge was happy with his teams rebound tonight. "It was a more complete game," McCambridge said, "We got down early, which you dont want to happen when youre able to integrate new players into the line-up, but it didnt phase us. We kept pushing on and I liked the way we played. I liked our pace. The energy level was at the point where you need it at this time of year." John Albert scorred two goals, while Carl Klingberg, Blair Riley, John Albert, Kael Mouillierat and Jerome Samson scored one apiece for the IceCaps (44-23-7).dddddddddddd Chris McCarthy and Danny Kristo replied for Hartford (35-32-7). The Wolf Pack struck first when Syvret pounced on a rebound and scored low, 6:57 into the game and on the power play. The IceCaps tied it when a Kyle MacKinnon wrap-around banked off Blair Rileys foot 8:34 into the opening frame. At the 14:19 mark of the first, Albert scooped a puck over the pads of Hartford goalie David LeNeveu on the doorstep, while falling. The IceCaps added another when Mouillierat scored a perfect wrist shot high glove from the top of the right faceoff dot on the power play with 1:25 left in the first. At the 10:01 mark of the second period, Eric ODell pulled a nifty move to beat his man when entering the zone before feeding Klingberg, who went right-to-left on a move to score for St. Johns. Samson tipped home a Klingberg point shot with the goalie pulled on a delayed penalty at the 10:56 mark of the second to make it 5-1 IceCaps. Hartford scored on a 5-on-3 power play when Kristo went high glove with a shot from the point 12:46 into the second period. Albert tipped home a Fredheim point shot with 4:03 left in the game. Wolf Pack goalie David LeNeveu stopped 12 of 15 on the night. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 15 in relief. IceCaps goalie Tyler Beskorowany saved 26. PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Madison Bumgarner grabbed four beers, tilted his head back and chugged like a champion. Then again, the San Francisco ace has plenty of practice. The Giants celebrating in a soaked clubhouse on the road? Must be October. Next stop: Washington.Bumgarner dominated the Pittsburgh Pirates in an 8-0 whitewash in the National League wild-card game on Wednesday night, tossing a four-hitter as the Giants advanced to best-of-five Division Series in Washington starting on Friday. If you dont want to pitch in these games, you probably need to find something else to do, Bumgarner said.No chance of the Giants doing that anytime soon. Theyve ended each even year this decade with a World Series title. The quest for a third to join the championships they captured in 2010 and 2012 began in familiar fashion, with a lights-out performance on the mound and enough offence to get by.We thrive in these situations, shortstop Brandon Crawford said. I dont know what it is. We just keep fighting no matter what the circumstance. The Giants won their eighth consecutive post-season game a€” dating back to the 2012 NL championship series when they rallied from a 3-1 deficit to stun St. Louis a€” and seventh straight with their season on the line a€” including the division series against Cincinnati that year. The memories of that run remain fresh in a clubhouse that seems to thrive once the games start to dwindle.Weve been through it before, a lot of this team has, Brandon Belt said. We used that experience tonight. We know when we get in these situations were going to have a good ballclub.San Francisco will need to rely on that experience when they face the red-hot Nationals. Washington won the season series with San Francisco 5-2, though it wont matter much when they square off in Game 1.Its a different time of year, Belt said. Its a playoff atmosphere. We know were a good team but so are they. We know weve got to go against them and not make any mistakes. The Giants didnt make any on Wednesday, not with Bumgarner doing his thing.Mixing his fastball with a slider and curve the Pirates rarely touched, Bumgarner was in complete control and looked very much like the ace who won 18 games during San Franciscos bumpy regular season. We got outplayed tonight, Pittsburgh second baseman Neil Walker said. Bumgarner went out there, he did what he wanted to do. He put up the strike zone and he made it tough on us.So did Crawford, whose grand slam off Edinson Volquez in the fourth inning was the first in post-season history by a shortstop a€” and he wasnt aiming for the fences. With the bases loaded in the fourth and nobody out in a scoreless game, Crawford turned on Volquezs hanging breaking ball and sent it to right. Pittsburghs Travis Snider waited to play it off the wall. He never got the chance, instead slumping his shoulders as the ball landed a couple of rows deep to give the Giants a 4-0 lead that felt considerably larger.I was in shock a little bit, Crawford said.So were the Pirates, who never recovered. One night after Kansas City edged Oakland in a thrilling start to baseballs post-season, this one was over by the middle innings.Overpowering one of the NLs best lineups, Bumgarner walked one and threw 79 strikes in his latest stellar October performance. The big left-hander, who allowed only four singles, has thrown 15 scoreless innings in two World Series starts.Volquez was trying to cap his comeback season by sending Pittsburgh to the NLDS for the second straight year, but he couldnt match Bumgarner. The right-hander cruised until the fourth, when a pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases with none out. Hed retired Crawford 19 of the 22 times hed faced him during his career. Its the 24th that hell remember.I tried to bounce it down, back foot, and the ball just kept going, Volquez said. Bad spot. That was more than enough for Bumgarner. Pittsburgh, fourth in the majors in extra-base hits this season, rarely hit the ball hard.Bumgarner was helped by his defence, too. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval a€” all 245 pounds of him a€” flipped over the railing in front of the Pittsburgh dugout to track down a foul popup off the bat of Russell Martin.Sandoval landed on his feet, a perfect symbol of San Franciscos seemingly endless resiliency when October rolls around. SOCHI, Russia – Sitting on the plane amongst the plethora of his St. Louis Blues teammates who would also be participating in the Olympics, Alex Pietrangelo felt right at home, no different in some ways to the travel experience of any old road trip – save for the length of the journey, that is. It wasnt until he touched base on the ground here in Sochi and separated from all but his Team Canada teammate and defensive partner Jay Bouwmeester that the magnitude of what lay ahead really set in. The 24-year-old Pietrangelo is among the youngest to wear the red Maple Leaf in 2014 as youth infuses what was previously a veteran-laden squad. Like fellow youngsters 23-year-old Matt Duchene, 24-year-old Jamie Benn, 23-year-old John Tavares and 24-year-old P.K. Subban, he is getting his first opportunity (of many) on the grandest stage and his NHL head coach couldnt be happier for it. "Hes just going to get better," said Ken Hitchcock, the bench boss in St. Louis and an assistant coach for Team Canada. "Any time you can experience something like this, it makes you a better player." The chance to train, practice and play amongst the countrys very best and compete, in the days ahead, opposite the worlds very best is a large part of the appeal as is the opportunity to represent Canada on the world stage. But in advising his Blues centerpiece prior to the Olympics, Hitchcock wanted Pietrangelo to absorb and understand just how high and intense the hockey will get, even amongst his own NHL teammates and future opponents. "Like dont expect Patrick Berglund to be what he is. Hes going to go up another level," Hitchcock said of the Blues centre, one among 10 players from St. Louis selected to play in these games, tied with Chicago and Detroit for the most in the NHL. "Dont expect Alex Steen to be what he is. Hes going to go up another level and thats just the way it is. "So dont be surprised because people play with passion ... Their sweaters and the crest on their sweaters is just as important for them as it is us. I said just dont be surprised by everybodys A-game when its out there." Pietrangelo has also heeded the advice of Bouwmeester – who is set to participate in his second Olympics – peppering the 30-year-old in the days and weeks leading up to their arrival in Russia. "I was able to pick his brain about the experience and he was pretty much bang on with everything he said," said Pietrangelo, who has 41 points in 57 games for the Blues this season. The best part, Bouwmeester advised, was the opportunity to take in the Olympic experience alongside other Canadians, not just those on the two hockey teams, but skiers, curlers, skaters, those in sports unfamiliar to the King City, Ontario native. "You see the skaters, you see the skiers on TV and you know that youre part of that group," Pietrangelo said. "Youre sitting in the lunch hall, the dinner hall now and you see them and you say hi and then you go out there and watch them on TV, its pretty special." On the ice, it was absorbing the complexities of the bigger international ice surface and systems employed by head coach Mike Babcock. Technical questions leveled at Hitchcock at an instructive Tuesday afternoon practice. "...he wanted to know, on defensive reads, whats his role because we play a different way [in St. Louis], especially on the back-check," Hitchcock said, noting Pietrangelos studious nature. The fourth overall pick in the 2008 draft is part of a youth revolution thats gradually crept into Team Canada and the hockey world. It was quietly prominent in Vancouver when a 21-year-old Jonathan Toews, 20-year-old Drew Doughty and 22-year-old Sidney Crosby all emerged at various points en route to gold, and its risen to new heights in Sochi. Gone from that triumphant squad on home turf are hardened veterans like Chris Pronger, Scott Niedermayer, Jarome Iginla and Brenden Morrow, replaced by a new wave that includes Pietrangelo, Duchene, Subban, Benn and Tavares. "We knew that when 2010 ended, there was going to be a changing of the guard," said Blues GM and Team Canada management member Doug Armstrong. "For quite of few of those players, their time had come. A lot of them are retired now. And you really cant keep these young players down." That would include Pietrangelo, who has surged to the heights of the defensive position on a powerhouse Blues squad, one that is tied for second-best overall with 84 points at the break. Still in just his fourth full NHL season, he is sitting fourth among all NHL defenders in points this season while averaging more than 25 minutes per game on one of the leagues preeminent defensive teams. A member of two Canadian World Junior teams – including a gold-snatching squad in 2009 – Pietrangelo was brought along carefully by the St. Louis organization, who signed him to a seven-year, $45 million contract this past summer. He played in just 17 games in the two years that followed his draft, rare patience that is quickly being rewarded. "Its hard to argue that right now," said Pietrangelo, gazing around at where he stood on Olympic ground. "Its a tough thing to go through as a young player. You always want to be playing at the highest level, but to see where I am right now, they were investing their time and money in me and they were going to make the best decision for me. Thats how I looked at it. Id like to think that its working right now." Wholesale Jerseys China . -- A horse with a humble pedigree. Jerseys Wholesale . After Zach Parise missed high for Minnesota, Datsyuk was on point with his backhander as he lifted the puck over Darcy Kuempers glove and into the net. Petr Mrazek stayed with Mikko Koivu and stopped his attempts before Nyquist swerved in from the right side, caught Kuemper moving and slid the puck between the netminders pads for the win. Nyquist finished with a goal and an assist, Teemu Pulkkinen scored his first NHL goal and Jonathan Ericsson and Xavier Ouellet also scored for the Red Wings, who won their fifth straight game Henrik Zetterberg tallied three assists and Mrazek made 34 saves in the win. Parise scored twice, Thomas Vanek had a goal and an assist and Koivu also scored for the Wild, who have dropped two straight. Kuemper made 14 saves after taking over for Devan Dubnyk, who allowed four goals on just 10 shots. Trailing 4-1 in the third, the Wild got within a goal after Parise skated behind the defense up the left side and shot the puck into the net at 6:01, then Vanek scored on a backhander four minutes later for a 4-3 game. Ericssons clear attempt from behind the net was knockeed down by Parise in front.dddddddddddd Mrazek made the initial stop, but Parise knocked in his own rebound for a tie game with 6:39 remaining. Early in the extra session, Mrazek made a sharp blocker save on Parises wrister off a 2-on-1. Each goaltender made three saves in overtime. Detroit opened the scoring 9:09 into the contest on Pulkkinens milestone marker. Stephen Weiss skated up to the right circle and backhanded a pass to Pulkkinen, who ripped a shot from the slot past the blocker of Dubnyk.
