Jeremy Jacobs Jr., the son of Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Sr., told The Buffalo News on Wednesday that the family has been engaged in discussions involving the franchises future, but said it was too early to say whether it will make an attempt to buy the team. "We are using our resources, our contacts, our relationships to do everything we can to ensure the Bills stay in Buffalo," Jacobs said in a story published on the newspapers website. Jacobs, however, stopped short of saying his family would be involved in a prospective ownership group. "Its still early in the process, and its impossible to say either way," he said. Jacobs comments were the first made by any family member expressing interest in the team. Bills owner Ralph Wilson died last month. And his comments do not contradict a statement his father issued last week. In a released statement, Jacobs Sr. said he has no intention of selling the Bruins in order to purchase the Bills, a move that would be required because NFL rules do not allow owners to control major sports franchises in separate markets. Jacobs statement failed to address whether any of his three sons would be involved in an ownership group. Several people familiar with the Bills future had previously told The Associated Press that Jacobs and his sons were linked to discussions involving the teams. Atlanta will be back when they get all their starters back. Next year will be a bounce back season but this season is done at 2-8. Tampa Bay is improving and as crazy as it may sound to some, I would not fire head coach Greg Schiano. He has his quarterback in Mike Glennon and will have his top running back Doug Martin and top guard Carl Nicks back next year. And Darrelle Revis will have a second recovery year under his knee. Stay the course if youre the Bucs. NFC West - The only team that is rebuilding in this division is St. Louis and outside of quarterback not even that much. With Percy Harvin back and only one close loss in Indianapolis, Seattle is close to rapping up the division soon. The Seahawks at home for two playoff games is lethal. They still have three tough games left(at New 0rleans, the 49ers and an improving Arizona team), but the Seahawks are looking good in December. The 49ers are up and down and the Cardinals have to win on defence. All of the top three teams are refining and improving. What was a poor division when the Seahawks made the playoffs at 7-9 is now one of the strongest. For a player who two years ago was at the peak of his game after winning the Vezina Trophy and leading the U.S. to win a silver-medal at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Miller has good reason to be cautious. By many measures, this has been the seven-year veterans most confidence-testing season, playing on a high-priced team thats been one of the NHLs biggest flops. And much like the team in front of him, Miller hasnt been immune from the troubles, which have ranged from injuries -- he missed nine games with a concussion/whiplash -- criticism or been the target of trade talk, which Miller insists hes not going anywhere. So when it comes to breaking Haseks record, the thought might not be the furthest thing on Millers mind, but its not exactly a hot topic of discussion. "Theres not a lot of hype or fanfare about it right now just because of where were at," Miller said. "I feel like its a nice accomplishment, something to look back on. But I understand why right now it feels like its not quite as exciting or intriguing." Miller and the Sabres have been relegated to mostly afterthoughts as a result of a two-plus-month swoon. At 21-24-6, they began Friday sitting 12th in the Eastern Conference, 10 points out of playoff contention. Not all of the fault lies on Miller, who has a 13-15-3 record. The Sabres offence is anemic, having produced three or more goals just four times in its past 19 games. And then theres a rash of injuries which has led to every regular, except captain Jason Pominville, to miss at least one game. "I feel like Ive got myself in a better place mentally and physically," Miller said. "My game is really close to where I want it. Im just trying to keep it there and hold it there." Much has gone wrong for them this year except when it mattered most. With an Olympic Medal on the line, they delivered big time at the team event in Sochi. Without their solid showing , Canada would not have won silver. That silver is the lining in an otherwise glad its over kind of season. The good news is that there is a whole spring and summer ahead to regroup, heal and rebuild. Kaetlyn can - for the first time - look forward to two Grand Prix assignments this year. She qualified last year too, but injury took her out. Its what she needs the most, experience. She has come so far in such a short time with little international experience to build on. In an Olympic season that is relentless, missing training time going in as both Kevin and Kaetlyn did, undermines everything. I believe that this approaching offseason is a crucial time for them as they head into the next Olympic quadrennial. Its right now when they must make up for lost training time and get back on track. Bright lights for team Canada at this years Worlds were 15-year-old Nam Ngyuen and 16-year-old Gabby Daleman who both hit personal bests in their free programs and showed that they are ready for the big time. They were not intimidated at all by the size of the event or the numbers in the stands in fact they fed off it. Both are charming and feisty at the same time and one saw clearly that they arent prepared to wait their turn. So the stage is set for the next four years and from what we saw in Japan, Canada is in great shape going forward. LOS ANGELES - With sluggish starts costing his team two of their last three games, Dwane Casey has considered making a change to the lineup ahead of Friday nights contest against the Clippers. Their most recent loss, 109-101 in Sacramento on Wednesday, was eerily similar to Saturdays defeat at the hands of the Trail Blazers. After digging themselves an early hole on both nights, the Raptors were unable to close out late-game comeback bids, forcing Casey to question his first units disposition. "Every team has their cross to bear and ours is starting games," he said after practice Thursday afternoon. "Whether weve got to change the lineup to start the game or whatever, I dont know we have to see." "Thats been our problem and it just didnt start [in Sacramento Wednesday], its been going on for a while. Weve been able to dig out of it but you cant get hit like that and expect to bounce back that way every game, it just takes too much of a toll on your body." In many ways the Raptors have been defeating themselves. Over that three-game stretch they held opponents to 43 per cent shooting in the first quarter, an impressive mark, but the hustle stats tell a different story. Toronto was out-rebounded in the opening 12 minutes of each game and put both Portland and Sacramento on the line 12 times. "We addressed it, we talked about it," Casey said, citing his teams focus, toughness and attention to detail. If Casey does opt to shake up his starting lineup in Los Angles, even temporarily, the most likely casualty would be slumping California-native Amir Johnson. Johnson has been hampered by a sore right ankle after turning it late in last weeks win over Orlando. He has logged fewer than 20 minutes in just six games this season, yet three of those have come in the last four contests. The forward has been Torontos most reliable and valuable player over the last three years but its clear he hasnt been himself, even before his most recent injury. After averaging 13.8 points and 8.3 rebounds on 63 per cent shooting in December, Johnsons production dropped last month, scoring 9.5 points and grabbing 6.0 rebounds a night. His 47 per cent field goal shooting in January was his lowest in a full month since March of 2011. As a team the Raptors surrendered 11 points more than they scored with Johnson on the floor in the month. Johnson, who routinely tops the team in the plus/minus stat, was the only Raptor (minimum 50 minutes) that was a net-minus in January, per NBA.com/stats. Mired in a similar slump, and with the team struggling late in November, Johnson was pulled from the starting lineup in favour of Tyler Hansbrough (Johnson told the Toronto Sun that he had requested a move to the bench). Johnson would go on to play his best basketball of the season over the following nine games, averaging 18.0 points and 9.6 rebounds on 68 per cent shooting, and getting his starting job back after three games when Hansbrough went down with an ankle injury. Poised to make a run at the playoffs, the Raptors need Johnson, a nine-year veteran, healthy and focused late in the season. Another temporary demotion could be in the best interest of both the Raptors and their best defensive player. Although Hansbrough could be a candidate to replace him should a change be made, without disrupting the chemistry of the second unit, he has fallen out of Caseys regular rotation since returning from injury. Patrick Patterson would seem to be the most logical choice. Often the first player of Torontos bench, Patterson has been consistently effective since coming over in the trade from Sacramento in December. The forward has scored in double figures in 12 of his last 20 games, averaging 11.1 points and 5.5 rebounds, shooting 52 per cent from the field and connecting on 17 of his 35 attempts from three-point range over that stretch.
