Moments after his Brooklyn Nets teammates ran out onto the court to congratulate him following their 100-98 overtime win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday night, Johnson could only shake his head at scoring only 13 points on 6-of-19 shooting. CHICAGO -- Roman Josi and Nashvilles dangerous defencemen did it all against the Chicago Blackhawks. That is why Pekka Rinne believes the blue-liners are the biggest key for a strong finish to the Predators disappointing season. Josi had three assists, and Ryan Ellis scored in the third period to lead the Predators to a 3-2 victory over the Blackhawks on Friday night. "If we win or lose, usually its the D-men," said Rinne, who made with 31 saves. "The talent we have on the back end, were pretty fortunate to have that kind of depth in the defence." Shea Weber also had his team-best 27th assist as Nashvilles defencemen combined for five points in the Predators third consecutive win. Weber also leads the team with 43 points, and Josi jumped into a tie with Patric Hornqvist for second on the team with 21 assists. "Thats the strength really of our group, our D-men," coach Barry Trotz said. "Theyre all young and talented. Were the youngest team in the league by three years on the blue line. The future is really bright for us there. Now weve got to work on trying to get those elite forwards like the Blackhawks have." It was the second straight loss for Chicago, which is struggling to keep up with the top contenders in the rugged Western Conference. The reigning Stanley Cup champions dropped to 10-8-7 in 2014. Jonathan Toews and Peter Regin scored for the Blackhawks, and Corey Crawford made 26 saves in his 200th NHL game. "Were putting ourself in tough situations by not starting well and getting away from our team game," Toews said. "Not much of an explanation, but we know we need better right now. We need to get out of this trend were in right now." Mike Fisher and Hornqvist also scored for Nashville, which has won two of three against Chicago this season. Ellis fourth goal of the season came right after the Predators killed a holding penalty on the defenceman that carried over into the third. He jumped out of the box, got a long pass from Josi and beat Crawford on a breakaway to make it 3-1 just 45 seconds into the period. "I was just fortunate enough to time it right," Ellis said. "Josi made a great pplay with a blocked shot then a tape-to-tape pass through the zone. Brock Nelson Islanders Jersey. " Regins tip-in got the Blackhawks within one again at 11:28, but they were unable to tie it. Regins second goal with Chicago came after Toews sent a wide-open opportunity off the left post 4:40 into the third. Toews also had an open tip go wide with 36 seconds left. "We knew they were going to make a push," Josi said. "With that team theyve got a lot of skill, but Peks was great again." Chicago controlled the action at the start, but Nashville began to pressure Crawford midway through the first. Nick Spaling shot wide right on a prime opportunity with about 7 1/2 minutes left. Fisher put the Predators in front when he pushed a rebound over Crawfords left leg for his 17th goal at 15:33. Nashville used a big slap shot by Weber to open a 2-0 lead with 69 seconds left in the first. Crawford stopped the drive by the big defenceman, but Hornqvist swept in the rebound for his 13th. Crawford hopped up and slammed his stick down as the Predators celebrated Hornqvists first goal since March 4. "Tough to watch the last part of the first period," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "I thought that was as bad as weve probably played for any stretch all year." The two-goal deficit seemed to wake up the Blackhawks for a bit. Toews stole the puck from Josi and passed it to Kris Versteeg, who passed it back to the captain for his 26th goal with 14 seconds remaining. Chicago carried the momentum into the second, but Rinne was there each time. He used his left pad to deny Patrick Sharp on a 1-on-1 opportunity, and he got some help from teammates when the Blackhawks had the puck in front during a power play at the end of the period. Crawford also used his glove to grab Craig Smiths shot with 5:46 left in the second. NOTES: Blackhawks F Marian Hossa (upper body) participated in the morning skate and is hoping to return Sunday at home against Detroit or Tuesday at Philadelphia. He has missed five games. ... Predators F Viktor Stalberg received a warm ovation when he was shown on the video board in the first period for helping Chicago win the Stanley Cup last season. Gareth Southgate wants his players to be brave and excite supporters as England return to Wembley looking to put Euro 2016 and a turbulent few weeks behind them. William Jackson Bengals Jersey . Last weeks publication of secretly-recorded footage of Sam Allardyce making a string of controversial comments on player transfer rulings ended his reign after 67 days and resulted in U21s boss Southgate having to step up to the senior team on an interim basis. Danny Higginbotham tells Sky Sports News HQ Gareth Southgate has a difficult decision to make about the role of the England captain Southgate had previously not been keen to fill the void left by Roy Hodgsons Euro 2016 departure, yet he had no hesitation when asked to take the post for the remainder of the year. Gareth Southgate confirms Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott will start the World Cup qualifier with Malta. Hes now issued a rallying call to his players I genuinely feel that people want to see the England team do well, I still think people are excited by what is a young team with great potential, he added. I think people recognise that.I know a game went against them in the summer, which was difficult for everybody to take, but I think people recognise the quality thats there and I think people recognise that it is a team that have pride in playing for England.Thats certainly filtered through to me this week, talking to the players as a group. They do want to make the country proud, they are frustrated by what happened in the summer, but the only way to restore that is to put consistent performances together and build that back up.You can watch Englands tour of Bangladesh, plus Premier League football and the Japan Grand Prix on Sky Sports. You can watch the game live in the first half of a doubleheader on TSN and TSN GO at 3:00pm et/Noon pt.MASON, Ohio -- Top-ranked Novak Djokovic tumbled out of the Western & Southern Open on Thursday, while second-seeded Roger Federer narrowly avoided an upset in the round of 16. Tommy Robredo beat Djokovic, 7-6 (6), 7-5 before Federer escaped with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Gael Monfils in the night session. Andy Murray also came close to elimination but saved two match points in a 6-7 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (2) win over 11th-seeded John Isner to reach the quarterfinals. Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., and Fabio Fognini also advanced. On the womens side, top-seeded Serena Williams continued her pursuit of her first title in the Cincinnati-area tournament with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Flavia Pennetta. Simona Halep also reached the quarterfinals, where she will meet Maria Sharapova. Agnieszka Radwanska, Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic also progressed. Robredos victory was the second time in his career he had beaten the worlds top-ranked player. The first occasion was way back in 2003 when he defeated Lleyton Hewitt in the 2003 French Open. "When I finish my career, and when I will be sitting at home and talking with friends, I will remember days like this," Robredo said. Djokovic, who has never won the Cincinnati-area event, dropped the first set after fighting back from a 6-3 deficit in the tiebreaker. Robredo took the set with an ace that Djokovic challenged. The replay showed the ball caught the slimmest sliver of the line. Robredo was denied on two match points before completing the victory with a smash on Djokovics short lob. "Its disappointing that Im finishing Cincinnati again with a tough loss, but its the sport," said Djokovic, who lost in the third round at Toronto last week. "I didnt play well in Toronto, didnt play well here. Hopefully, its going to be different in New York (at the U.S. Open)." Federer had trouble shaking off a persistent Monfils in his 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory. "There was some frustration, but thats what Gael does to you," Federer said. "I felt like I missed some opportunities in the second set to close him out, but thats a credit to him. He hung in there." Murray, who is coming off an injury-interrupted season, would have been expecting a long match against the towering Isner because the American is rarely broken on service and won before a standing-room-only crowd. Latavius Murray Jersey. "I had lost a few close matches -- matches like that -- over the last few months, so it was important for me to come through," Murray said, a two-time W&S champion. "It was completely packed crowd from the first point right until the end, as well. So it was a really good atmosphere to get ready for the rest of the tournament, but also the U.S. Open, as well." Isner, who lost to Rafael Nadal in last years final, had two chances to win the match with a 6-5 lead in the third set, but Murray salvaged both points before taking control with a mini-break for a 3-1 lead in the tiebreaker. Stan Wawrinka shook off losing the first set to roll through the next two and advance with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 win over Marin Cilic. Wawrinka, the Australian Open champion, will meet unseeded Julien Benneteau in the quarterfinals. Benneteau eliminated Jerzy Janowicz 7-5, 6-1. Fabio Fognini also needed three sets to get past Yen-hsun Lu, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, and Milos Ranoic held off wild-card Steve Johnson 6-7 (6), 6-3, 7-6 (4). David Ferrer completed the quarterfinal bracket with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Mikhail Youzhny. In womens play, top-seeded Williams broke serve in the opening game and went on to comfortably beat Pennetta 6-2, 6-2. "I got the early break, and I didnt let go," she said. "Thats what I wanted to do. She tried to come back, I wanted to stay focused." Halep also reached the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Lucie Safarova, but 15th-seeded Carla Suarez Navarro was upset by unseeded Elina Svitolina, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Halep and Sharapova will meet in the quarterfinals -- a reprise of the French Open final won by Sharapova. The fifth seed advanced with a 6-4, 7-6 (2) win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Jankovic also moved on with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory over Sloane Stephens, and Ivanovic advanced with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win over Svetlana Kuznetsova. Agnieszka Radwanska routed Sabine Lisicki 6-1, 6-1. This is how they describe their version of the puck. Alexander Radulov Canadiens Jersey . "The Aalto Puck is made in the same material as a regular hockey puck and behaves in the same way on ice with one fundamental difference. It has a built in randomness, it doesnt bounce as a regular puck, it can, depending on how its hit, speed off in different ways and more importantly, by adding an element of chance its the most equal puck produced. Advantages are randomly given to either of the two competing teams. By adding the element of chance this small puck changes the big picture." To be honest, this will be a very hard idea to get past hockey purest, however evolutionary thinking always does cause a big stir in the beginning. Perhaps the puck should be part of the conversation. Howie Morenz Canadiens Jersey . The Braves optioned outfielder Jose Constanza to Triple-A Gwinnett. DETROIT -- Dallas Keuchel outpitched college roommate Drew Smyly, and the Houston Astros edged Detroit 6-2 on Thursday to snap the Tigers eight-game winning streak. Jim Brown Authentic Jersey . Houston also ended its own five-game losing skid. Keuchel (3-2) allowed two runs and six hits in 7 2-3 innings. Keuchel and Smyly were both on the Arkansas team that reached the College World Series in 2009. The two left-handers were both sharp early Thursday, but Houston broke through with three runs in the fifth off Smyly (2-2) to take the lead. Houstons George Springer, a first-round draft pick in 2011, hit his first major league homer. Carlos Corporan and Matt Dominguez also went deep for the Astros. Victor Martinez homered for the Tigers. Smyly allowed only one hit -- an infield single -- through the first four innings, but his outing took a turn for the worse in the fifth when Springer lined a one-out solo homer over the wall in right. Jose Altuve put the Astros ahead 3-2 with a two-run double later that inning. Smyly allowed three runs and five hits in 5 1-3 innings. He struck out two and walked three. Corporan homered off reliever Evan Reed in the seventh to make it 4-2. Keuchel struck out seven without a walk. His final big test came in the seventh, when Detroit put men on first and third with two out. Keuchel struck out pinch-hitter Torii Hunter to end the inning. Miguel Cabrera came to the plate in the eighth after Ian Kinslers single chased Keuchel, but the best the Detroit slugger could do against reliever Anthony Bass was a soft grounder to second. Dominguez hit a two-run homer in the ninth. The Tigers opened the scoring in the second on an RBI double by Nick Castellanos. Springer, who came close to preventing a homer by Cabrera the previous night, nearly caught this drive too, but it caromed off the wall in right field. Martinez hit his seventh homer of the year in the fourth. He finished the day with three hits, extending his hitting streak to 11. NOTES: Houston OF L.J. The Astros play at Baltimore on Friday night, with RHP Scott Feldman (2-1) scheduled to return after missing time with right biceps tendinitis. Baltimore starts LHP Wei-Yin Chen (3-2). ... Dillon Powers and Vicente Sanchez both scored in the first half as the Rapids snapped the Whitecaps (5-3-7) franchise-best unbeaten streak at eight matches. But as head coach Carl Robinson saw it, it wasnt that big of a deal. "Weve lost one in nine," Robinson said. "I wont get carried away." Despite the loss, Vancouver had reason to celebrate as Whitecaps Mehdi Ballouchy, Steven Beitashour and Nigel Reo-Coker all made their returns after various lengths of absences. Ballouchy played 20 minutes in his first game in nearly 11 months since tearing his right ACL last season. He tore his left ACL two years ago, and played only five games for the San Jose Earthquake before the most recent injury. "Its been a long time," Ballouchy said. "When you do an ACL, you come back, and you do it again, these are long-term injuries. A lot of players dont come back. Its been a steep, steep hill and Im happy to be playing again." Reo-Coker was back in action after missing Wednesdays scoreless draw against Montreal to be in New York for the birth of his first child, while Beitashour was back after a long trek back from Brazil, where he played for Irans national team in the World Cup pool play. Vancouver hadnt lost since falling to Los Angeles 1-0 on April 19. It was the second of a brief two-game losing streak that started with a home loss to Colorado a week earlier. "Weve lost three games out of 15. Its not bad," said Reo-Coker. "Every team has spells like this — even the top teams. Were going through it now. We have so much belief and confidencee in this team that were going to bounce back. Womens Bernie Kosar Black Jersey. Its a sign and test of how good we are." Reo-Coker said the birth of his daughter Scarlet changed his life "completely." "Its fantastic," he said. "Its something you cant put into words until you go through." He had a less memorable moment late in the first half when he fouled Sanchez in the box, leading to a penalty kick. Sanchez easily beat goalie David Ousted in the 36th minute to give the Rapids their second goal. "It was just miscommunication between David and myself," Reo-Coker said. "I saw David coming out and we kind of hesitated amongst each other, no one really took command of the full situation." Robinson had no issue with the call. "Second goal, it was a blatant penalty," he said. Powers hit the bar in the 17th minute and put a shot through the legs of a Vancouver defender three minutes later to give Colorado a 1-0 lead. The Rapids had another chance in the 27th minute, but were turned away by Ousted. Vancouver had two solid chances in the second half but Pedro Morales put a shot wide in the 63rd minute and Johnny Leversons laser in the 77th minute was saved by Clint Irwin. Colorado had 19 shots overall to Vancouvers five. "Were going to win games where we dont deserve to and were going to lose games we deserve to win," Robinson said. "Tonight we got what we deserved." Robinson didnt play Beitashour, opting instead to give him a rest after a long period of travel. "Beitas had three flights and in total its probably 16 hours of flying," Robinson said. "What I didnt want to do is risk an injury to him. I made the decision before the game." TORONTO - They came into the CFL combine as the top prospects and Pierre Lavertu and David Foucault didnt do anything Sunday to diminish that standing. Cincinnati Reds Desmond Jennings Jersey . The two offensive linemen capped the weekend with solid performances in the one-on-one drills at Varsity Stadium although Foucault, who was battling the flu, also showed he was human. The six-foot-eight, 300-pound tackle was knocked on his backside in a one-on-one matchup with Western defensive end Dylan Ainsworth, who gave up six inches and 75 pounds on the Montreal Carabins offensive lineman. "He did the bullrush and kicked my ass," Foucault said with a chuckle. "I was too high in my stance and he took advantage of my weakness. "It was a good experience here to see all the best guys in Canada as well as the CFL teams. It was a good weekend." Lavertu, a six-foot-three, 300-pound lineman from Laval, and Foucault finished the season ranked second and third, respectively, on the CFL scouting bureaus top-15 prospects for this years draft. McGill tackle Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, who ended up No. 1, didnt attend as hell hold his pro day in Montreal next week for both NFL and CFL officials. That left the offensive line contingent with three of the remaining four top-ranked players — Simon Frasers Matthias Goossen ended the year at No. 5. The other was fourth-ranked St. Francis receiver Devon Bailey. Ottawa Redblacks scout Miles Gorrell, who played 19 CFL seasons as an offensive lineman, gushed about the O-line talent at the combine. "Their footwork and hand placement are very good, its clear theyre well coached," Gorrell said. "You see guys like Pierre Lavertu, David Foucault and Matthias Goossen stepping up to the plate and being able to prove to the coaches and scouts theyre ready to take the next step. "But a kid like Jaskaran Dhillon of UBC really impressed me, this was his first year playing on the offensive line. I also thought Terry Hart from Mount Allison did a great job and I also liked Kyle Patterson of Regina and Aaron Wheaton from the U of T." Gorrell also had words of encouragement for Foucault. "Ill guarantee you every offensive lineman has had that day," he said. "You consider a defensive lineman has 12 sacks in 18 games and hes had a great year but that means the offensive line has stopped him 98 per cent of the time. "Its all about how many times did you stop your opponent and David Foucault got beat on one play and Id say he was out there for 30 plays so what would you grade that as? Yes, Dylan Ainsworth rolled him but its going to happen to the best of them ... you just hope it doesnt stay on film forever." Mike OShea, the former CFL standout linebacker whos now the head coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, was impressed with Lavertus play. "Polished, he looked very good," OShea said. "Theres a bunch who look ready to go in the CFL and contribute right away." Predictably, Lavertu was hard on his performance Sunday. "I think it was half and half," he said. "I won some, lost some, but overall Im satisfied. "We were up against the best (defensive linemen) in the country and I have to show the scouts Im one of the top-ranked players." Unfortunately for Lavertu and the other prospects, the CFL draft wont be held until May 13. But Lavertu has plenty to keep himself occupied with between now and then. "Ill go back to the gym to make sure I am ready," he said. "Ill work on my core, my leg strength and my technique." Manitobas Evan Gill, the scouting bureaus top-ranked defensive lineman at No. 6, displayed impressive brute strength Sunday. However, not having been in pads since the end of the season took its toll on the six-foot-three 300-pound Winnipeg native. "It was tough knocking the rust off," he said. "Youre getting a lot of reps at once and youre getting gassed out there, its tough moving at that fast pace. "But its not necessarily how you perform, its how you move, how your body works ... theyre the top coaches, theyre professionals and theyll mould you into what they want. Overall, I think the weekend was a success because I met with all nine teams and I wanted to tell them my story and I feel I accomplished that." Laval defensive back Adam Thibault was a standout individually. Thibault, ranked No. 13 on the CFLs top-15 list, had the top 40-yard dash time of 4.454 seconds and also finished first in the left and right agility drills as well as the shuttle. However Thibault, who had a personal-best 18 reps in the bench press Saturday — tops among the defensive backs — couldnt go in the one-on-one drills due to an apparent hamstring injury. Many prospects showed their versatility Sunday. Concordia defensive lineman Quinn Smith performed quite well lining up as an offensive lineman while both Ainsworth and Saint Marys Nigel Romick also worked with the linebackers. As well, Simon Fraser linebacker Casey Chin was impressive as a long-snapper. Given the limitations of a CFLs 42-man active roster, versatility is a much sought-after commodity by coaches and GMs. "The more you can do the better," Gorrell said. "If you can carry the water jug and get the coaches doughnuts, its all good." Here is a list of all the top performers in each event. Fitzgerald Toussaint scored a go-ahead, 2-yard touchdown with 2:49 left and No. 11 Michigan made a desperately needed stop on the final play to hold on for a 28-24 victory over Akron on Saturday. Michigan (3-0) avoided getting upset at home -- as it did against Appalachian State and Toledo -- by a Mid-American Conference team with three straight one-win seasons that hasnt won a road game in nearly five years and was expected to lose by more than five touchdowns. Barely. "This is embarrassing for the University of Michigan football team," offensive tackle Taylor Lewan said. The Wolverines trailed twice in the second half -- including with 4:10 remaining when Kyle Pohl threw a 1-yard TD -- and allowed the Zips (1-2) to get to the Michigan 4 on the last play of the game. On the third straight snap inside the Michigan 5, Pohl was hurried and hit by Brennen Beyer and that led to an incomplete pass in the end zone as time expired. "We almost lost to Akron, no disrespect to Akron," Devin Gardner said. Gardner had a lot to do with that. He had a career-high three interceptions and fumbled. "I dont care if we are playing Saline High School or the Super Bowl champs, you cant turn the ball over," Michigan coach Brady Hoke said. Akron was very close to going ahead in the final minute, but wide receiver Jerrod Dillard couldnt come down with a high pass that went through his hands in the end zone, and receiver L.T. Smith was stopped at the 2 by two defenders. "Ive been fortunate to have some big wins in my career, but that wouldve been the biggest," said Akron coach Terry Bowden, who went 11-0 two decades ago at Auburn. "Im sorry for our players. They worked so hard and been through so much, but I told them they had the chance to play the game of a lifetime and they did and they played the game of a lifetime. "Im sure down the road in their lives theyll look back and cherish that more than the misery theyre in right now." Michigan won its 17th straight at home for the longest streak among BCS-conference teams and its best since winninng the same number in a row from 1976-78. Reggie Sanders Reds Jersey. Akron has lost 28 straight road games, the longest skid for visitors in the top tier of college football since Kansas State dropped 30 in a row from Nov. 9, 1985 to Nov. 2, 1991, according to STATS LLC. The Zips, though, thought this would be their day. "I knew we could beat them," Pohl said. The Wolverines said the right things about respecting and focusing on Akron after beating rival Notre Dame in front of an NCAA-record crowd last weekend, but they didnt look like they prepared very well and failed to make adjustments during the game. And, Gardner led the way. He ran for a 36-yard score and threw a 33-yard pass to Jehu Chesson in the third quarter to put Michigan up 21-10, but was 16 of 30 for 248 yards with a lot of mistakes. Gardner had turnovers on three straight drives late in the first half and the last two set up Akron for field goal attempts -- both of which were missed -- as Michigan had a tenuous 7-3 lead at halftime. The fourth-year quarterback, who accounted for five TDs in the 41-30 win over the Fighting Irish, threw his third interception in the fourth quarter and it was returned 27 yards by linebacker Justin March to let the Zips pull within four points. "I made a lot of bad decisions, probably my worst game ever," Gardner said. After Michigan went three and out, Pohl drove the Zips to the Michigan 2 and they came away with nothing because he was picked off in the end zone by Jarrod Wilson. The Wolverines could only get one first down on their next drive, then Pohl gave Akron a 24-21 lead on a pass to Tyrell Goodman. The Big House, which was eerily quiet for much of the afternoon when fans werent booing, erupted in a collective cheer when Toussaints plunge put Michigan up 28-24. It got quiet again as Akron picked apart Michigans defence, which failed to pressure Pohl very often, before the maize-and-blue clad followers were able to exhale when the clocks had zeroes and the football was on the turf. "Yeah, we won the game," Lewan said, sounding and looking furious in a postgame news conference. "Were 3-0, thats great. It was embarrassing." JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Dave Hollins Phillies Jersey . - Jacksonvilles Cecil Shorts best season as an NFL pass receiver could be coming to a premature end. The Jaguars third-year pro has been hampered with a groin injury for much of the season. He played through the pain and had started the first 13 games, but in Sundays game against Buffalo, was listed as an inactive. On Monday, Shorts said the smartest thing to do was to shut it down for this year and look ahead to next season. "Probably," Shorts said with a laugh. "Thats the best thing. We have an idea of what were going to do. I dont want to speak on it right now but thats probably the best thing for it, honestly. "Im just trying to stay positive. If the decision is made when we talk about it that Im done for the year, then thats the case." Shorts was not able to practice much on Friday. He said he ran four or five plays and it wasnt good. He later confirmed that he would need to have surgery to repair the injured area. "I didnt feel any power or explosiveness in there. It was very tough to do anything and there was a whole lot of pain," he said. "I knew then that I couldnt play on Sunday." On Monday, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley stopped short of saying the team would place Shorts on injured reserve in order to have the surgery and get an early start on the rehab process. "Cecil is not improving," Bradley said. General manager "Dave (Caldwell) and I will sit down and discuss this with Cecil later on today or tomorrow where hes at. "I think we have more concern with the injury now. When Cecil talks to us as coaches and what hes feeling, hes such a strong competitor and wants to play, but the longer were around him, you can sense when its really bothering him. And I think hes at that point right now." Shorts has caught a career-best 66 passes this season, surpassing his previous best of 55 a year ago. He has 777 yards, behind only the 971 yards he had last year. He was one of four Jaguars starters who missed Sundays game with the Bills. Leading rusher Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring), offensive guard Will Rackley (concussion) and strong safety Johnathan Cyprien were also on the inactive list for the Buffalo game. Bradley indicated that all three would be re-evaluated on Wednesday to determine their status for the rest of the week and for Sundays home season-finale against Tennessee. The injury-plagued Jaguars added two more names to their list from Sundays game with Buffalo. Guard Mike Brewster who took Rackleys place in the lineup, fractured his left ankle and is out for the rest of the season. In addition, linebacker Russell Allen who has started all but one game this year, suffered a concussion and will now follow NFL concussion protocol. Bradley lamented the teams poor play in the second quarter in Sundays 27-20 loss to the Bills. He cited the fact thats when the team gave up 17 of Buffalos 27 points, 102 of the Bills 198 yards rushing, the Jaguars had nine of their 14 missed tackles and allowed four of their 10 explosive plays. "A lot of stats like that showed up that (tells us) we did not play very well in the second quarter," Bradley said. "Now, coming out of it, we tightened up some things starting in the third quarter with better tackling, and we were better with our techniques. They had a combined 58 yards rushing, 70 yards passing and seven points in the third and fourth quarters." Offensively, Bradley harped on missed opportunities to score. Rookie running back Denard Robinson fumbled at the goal line just before he was to complete a 25-yard run into the end zone early in the third quarter. The Jaguars also had a first-and-goal at the 1-yard line with four minutes left in the game and trailing by seven points. But two plays later, Chad Henne threw an interception in the end zone. Shorts groin injury prevented him from playing in Sundays 27-20 Jaguars loss to Buffalo, and could cause him to miss the teams final two games against Tennessee and Indianapolis. ___ Online: http://pro32.ap.org Steve Carlton Jersey . The move worked beautifully, and Icher delivered the most consistent performance on a day there werent many in the debut of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. "I think its the key on this course," Icher said. "Its a tough golf course, especially with the wind and temperature. It gets so cold. You try to stay warm and try to catch the right wind and go with it and make some putts." The Frenchwoman birdied four of her first seven holes and finished with a 6-under 66 on Thursday to take the lead, two strokes ahead of Lydia Ko and several others. Afterward, Icher was off to pick up 2-year-old daughter, Lola, from the tours childrens care and head to dinner. The start was delayed two hours because of fog and play was suspended because of darkness with 24 players still on the course. Icher had a bogey-free round and hit all but one green in regulation. Many struggled off the tee or with their putters on speedy, tricky greens on a cool day with plenty of wind and hovering fog not far off the Pacific Ocean. The gallery sang "Happy Birthday" to Ko on her 17th birthday as she started from the first tee, and Ko came through with a 68 on a day she was also named among TIME magazines 100 most influential people. Kos group barely beat the horn for darkness. "I wanted to finish today," she said, acknowledging the birthday song was "kind of embarrassing" but much-appreciated. Morgan Pressel birdied four of her first eight holes and was among the players sitting three strokes back at 69. Mo Martin also shot a 69 after warming up four times before finally hitting her first tee shot following the fog delay. Pressel, whose round began on the back nine, went to 4 under at the turn. Top-ranked Inbee Park opened with a 73 in the $1.8 million event, while second-ranked Suzann Pettersen had a 70 in her first tournament since missing three events with a back injury. On the par-4 11th, a frustrated Pettersen made an 8-foot putt for triple-bogey to fall from 3 under to even par before bouncing back. Aaron Nola Phillies Jersey. Michelle Wie, coming off her first win in nearly four years last week in her home state of Hawaii, finished at even-par 72. Those who were still on the course will play resume their rounds Friday morning, so many will have a quick turnaround after a short break. Tee times remained the same. Pressel also had a sizzling first round in Phoenix last month, going 9 under through her first 11 holes in the JTBC Founders Cup and chasing a 59. But Pressel bogeyed two straight holes and wound up with a 7-under 65. On Thursday, she recovered for par on holes 16 and 18 after both tee shots missed the fairway. On the forgiving par-5, 532-yard 18th, Pressels drive ricocheted off a tree and landed in a more favourable lie to the right of the fairway. She nearly put her third shot onto the green but the ball kicked back a couple of feet shy. "It was actually a bit of a struggle out there. My short game kept me in it. I stayed patient," Pressel said. "I stayed tough. Its a tough golf course. I knew nobody was going to go out there and blitz it." Martin played through more fog, and even wondered whether there might be a second delay. The LPGA is back in the Bay Area for the first time since 2010, and San Francisco provided exactly the kind of day that so perfectly represents this region and its unpredictable weather patterns. Martin sported an "L" charm necklace in memory of her grandfather, Lincoln Martin, who died last month at age 102. One of her biggest supporters since they reconnected 10 years ago, he last travelled to a tournament in Rochester, N.Y., last year. He ate vanilla ice cream on his chocolate crisped rice cereal -- with half and half to boot -- for breakfast every morning. He also had several U.S. patents. "It would be really hard to do him justice in a couple sentences, but greatest person Ive ever met," she said. "Changed my life when I got to know him in the last 10 years. Most peaceful person Ive ever met. ... Everybody out here loved him. He followed womens golf and was a fan of everyone." Angela Stanford and Se Ri Pak withdrew Thursday, and neither provided a reason to tournament officials. DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings agreed to a three-year contract Wednesday with coach Jeff Blashill to lead their American Hockey League team. Joe Thornton Sharks Jersey . Red Wings coach Ken Holland says hes excited to keep one of the young coaches in hockey. If Mike Babcock does not keep coaching the Red Wings after his contract expires following next season, the Red Wings can potentially promote Blashill to lead their NHL franchise. The 40-year-old Blashill was the AHL coach of the year last season. He was one of Babcocks assistants for one year before moving on to lead the Grand Rapids, Michigan, Griffins the past two seasons. The Griffins won the AHL championship last year for the first time and lost in the second round of the playoffs this year. Paul Martin Sharks Jersey . James Jones got his turn Sunday. And the lift he brought, combined with the expected playoff showings from LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, have the Heat off and running in these playoffs. The Flames announced Monday that Treliving, a former assistant general manager with the Coyotes, will take over the vacant GM spot in Calgary. "Im ready for this,"Treliving said.Orlando, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oklahoma Sooners and Clemson Tigers both fell short of lofty expectations this season and will settle for meeting one another in the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl on Monday at the Florida Citrus Bowl. Bob Stoops Sooners were ranked in the top-five to start the season and considered a favorite in the Big 12. After winning its first four games of the campaign, Oklahoma failed to find consistency the rest of the way, winning back-to-back games just once over the course of the final eight outings, culminating in a rather modest 8-4 record. Oklahoma extended it bowl streak to 16 seasons under Stoops. The program is 28-20 all-time in the postseason and its 28 bowl victories represent the third most all-time. Dabo Swinneys Tigers were supposed to give defending national champion Florida State a run for its money in the ACC this year, and although the team almost pulled off the upset in Tallahassee back on Sept. 20 (23-17 OT), the team played second fiddle to the Seminoles in the ACCs Atlantic Division. Still, Clemson finished a respectable 9-3 on the year, thanks to wins in eight of the last nine games. The Tigers are seeking their fourth straight 10-win season. Clemson is 18-18 in postseason play all-time. The Tigers have won two straight bowls, including a thrilling 40-35 win over Ohio State in last years Orange Bowl. OU holds a 2-1 edge in the series with Clemson. These two teams havent met since the 1989 Citrus Bowl, a 13-6 Clemson victory. The Sooners have had to adjust on offense due to injuries, especially to quarterback Trevor Knight. The team had to rely more on the run with redshirt freshman Cody Thomas filling in, but that has been a strength anyway, with Oklahoma ranking eighth nationally in rushing at an impressive 268.6 yards per game. Freshman Samaje Perine certainly made an immediate impact, as he set the NCAA record for most rushing yards in a game (427 yards against Kansas). The 5-11, 243-pound youngster finished the season with an astounding 1,579 yards and 21 touchdowns en route to All-America honors. Redshirt sophomore Alex Ross (6-1, 221) was a distant second in ground production, but still managed to amass 564 yards and three scores on 6.6 yards per carry. The good news is that Knight will be back on the field in Orlando. He threw for 2,197 yards and 14 TDs before going down to injury. Receivers Sterling Shepard (50 receptions, 957 yards, five TDs) and Durron Neal (40 receptions, 508 yards, three TDs) will certainly be happy to have their starting quarterback return. Just to have him (Knight) back out there with his leadership and his energy and all the experience that comes with his game is good for us receivers to get back on the same page with the quarterback we started with, Neal said. We kind of got back in a rhythm right away. He hadnt thrown a ball in a while, so we knocked a little rust off. The ball is coming just as they were prior to him getting hurt, and every day I can see hiim improving. Tommy Wingels Sharks Jersey. . The Oklahoma defense had problems with consistency this season. The Sooners were solid against the run, allowing just 109.6 yards per game, but struggled big time against the pass, yielding a generous 272.7 yards per game through the air. Sophomore linebacker Dominique Alexander led all Sooners with 98 total tackles. Junior linebacker Eric Striker was a difference maker upfield. Of his 56 total tackles, 14 came behind the line of scrimmage, including 7.5 sacks. Redshirt sophomore cornerback Zack Sanchez (39 tackles), is the secondarys top ball-hawk with six of the teams 12 total interceptions. Clemson has played through some offensive adversity this year as well and will need to continue to do so in this game. The team will be without the services of freshman phenom Deshaun Watson, who suffered a torn ACL late in the season. The dual-threat youngster makes the Clemson offense much more dangerous, as he passed for 1,466 yards and 14 TDs this season, while rushing for an additional five scores. The good news is the team has a veteran it can lean on in Cole Stoudt. The senior signal-caller has started and come off the bench this season, having thrown for 1,573 yards and six TDs. Freshman wideout Artavis Scott (68 receptions, 851 yards, seven TDs) and sophomore Mike Williams (48 receptions, 918 yards, five TDs) headline a talented receiving corps for the Tigers. The rushing attack is not the preferred mode of travel for the Clemson offense at a modest 153.0 yards per game. Wayne Gallman tops all players with 714 yards and four TDs on the ground for Clemson. The Tigers will also be breaking in new co-offensive coordinators (Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott), as Chad Morris has taken the head coaching job at SMU. I am very happy for Chad and his family, said Swinney. This is a great opportunity and he is the right fit for SMU. I am very appreciative of the job he has done here the last four years. We have 41 wins, the most in any four- year period in Clemson history, and the offense he has directed had a lot to do with that. Our offense has performed at a record rate for this four-year period. The Clemson defense is the primary reason the team is on the verge of another double-digit win season. The Tigers lead the nation in total defense at a meager 259.6 yards per game and have shown equal disdain for the run (97.7 ypg) and the pass (161.9 ypg). Thanks to perhaps the nations best front seven, Clemson was really able to bring pressure on opposing QBs, racking up 44 sacks on the season. There are no shortage of playmakers on the Clemson defense, but the anchor of the unit is two-time All-American Vic Beasley. Regarded as one of the nations premier pass rushers and a probable first-round NFL draft pick, Beasley has once again dominated up front, collecting 18.5 TFL and 11 sacks this season. Linebacker Stephone Anthony is a defensive leader as well, pacing the team with 87 total tackles (9.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks). The deal also includes a full no-trade clause. Peavy flourished with the Giants after being acquired from Boston just prior to the July 31 trade deadline, posting a 2.17 earned run average and a 6-4 record over 12 regular-season starts. The 2007 National League Cy Young Award winner also made four postseason starts for San Francisco, going 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA. The 33-year-old right-hander had been having a rough season with the Red Sox, winning just one time in 20 starts while pitching to a 4.72 ERA. CHARLOTTE, N. Bo Jackson Royals Jersey .C. - Cam Newton said his focus is on getting back on the football field, not a new contract. The Panthers quarterback said Wednesday hes happy for San Franciscos Colin Kaepernick, who recently signed a six-year, $126 million contract. He even sent a congratulatory text message to Kaepernick, who beat Newton and the Panthers in the NFC divisional playoffs 23-10 in January. The Panthers have talked about a long-term contract for Newton but no deal has been completed. "For me, thats the last thing thats on my mind," Newton said. Newton didnt practice Wednesday as he continues to rehab his left ankle following surgery in March, but spoke to the media inside the stadium afterward. He said he wants to participate in next weeks three-day minicamp, but isnt sure if hell be ready. Newton and Kaepernick are linked in many respects because they came out of college the same year. Newton was selected first overall in the NFL draft in 2011, but only this past year did he finally get the Panthers to the playoffs. Kaepernick was selected 35 picks behind Newton but has helped the 49ers reach the NFC championship game three straight seasons. "Two different people, two different organizations," Newton said. "I wish Colin the best. ... I reached out and told him he deserved it. To do what he has done up to this point, he deserves to get paid." Newton can make an argument he does too based on three impressive statistical seasons. He has started every game for the Panthers since coming into the league and thrown for 11,299 yards with 64 touchdown passes and 42 interceptions. Hes also run for 2,032 yards and 28 TDs. But while general manager Dave Gettleman said Newton has proven to him that hes a franchise quarterback, the salary cap strapped Panthers havent signed the former Heisman Trophy winner to a long-term deal. The Panthers did pick up the option on the fifth year of Newtons rookie contract, which means Newtons salary will jump from $3.3 million this year to $14.6 million in 2015. Newton has been working on an underwater treadmill in recent weeks, receiving ice and stem treatments for his left ankle. Hes also been throwing passes on the side during six of the teams last nine OTA practices. He said hes still experiences some pain in his ankle that reminds him hes not quite 100 per cent. The teams three-day minicamp begins Tuesday. "Physically Im coming along fine and Im on page right where I expected to be, but mentally Im bored," Newton said. Newton said hes spent the last seven weeks pouring over game film from last year and practice film from OTAs. He acknowledged that while the extra time in the film room has been beneficial, he said it has become "a little monotonous." When he returns to the field Newton will be looking to develop some chemistry with an overhauled corps or wide receivers. The Panthers cut ties with their top four wide receivers from last year, including Newtons go-to guy Steve Smith. The team added free agents Jerricho Cotchery, Jason Avant and Tiquan Underwood and drafted Kelvin Benjamin in the first round. While Newton wasnt ready to say this years group of receivers is better than last years, he did say they have a chip on their shoulders. "The elephant in the room has already been stated," Newton said. "Those guys have already accepted the challenge. You dont have to go in there and tell those guys, Hey, youre projected (to be) the sorriest receiver (group) in the NFL. We already know. "But with that, those guys already have that fire in their eyes. I would rather those guys be like that and for them to go out there and bust their tails like theyve been doing. Its kind of like a slap in —not only their face — but my face as well." ___ AP NFL website www.pro32.ap.org ___ Follow Steve Reed on Twitter: http://twitter.com/SteveReedAP Alex Gordon Jersey . - Vince Carter, heading into his 17th NBA season, doesnt consider age a big issue anymore. But history aside, theyre still happy to participate in the Par 3 contest, traditionally held on the day prior to the first round of the Masters. MINNEAPOLIS -- For the third straight off-season, Adrian Peterson will be recovering from surgery. The Minnesota Vikings said their star running back had an operation Thursday to repair his adductor muscle, which is part of the groin. The team said Peterson was expected to be fully recovered in about six weeks, giving him plenty of time to heal before off-season workouts get going. The procedure was performed by Dr. William Meyers at the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia. Peterson rushed for 1,266 yards in 14 games, missing two in December due to a sprained right foot. The groin problem was lingering long before that, though, sapping him of some of his explosiveness. He acknowledged after a loss at Seattle Nov. 17 that the injury was bothering him "a lot." Peterson gained only 65 yards on 21 carries that afternoon, albeit against the leagues best defence. He still managed, two weeks later, to rush for 211 yards against Chicago, the fourth-highest total of his career. But then came the sprained foot in the snow Dec. 8 at Baltimore, and he played only once more, and not at full speed. He tallied 45 yards on 11 attempts at Cincinnati on Dec. 22 and said afterward he felt uncomfortable, a rare admissiion for one of the sports most confident and determined players. Mike Moustakas Jersey. Keeping him off the field is always hard. "Thats just not my mentality, leaving these guys out to dry, just because, what the heck, my passion for the game," Peterson said last month. "I love the game too much to sit out just because. If Im out, youre going to know that he cant go." Peterson is 27th on the all-time rushing list, second only behind Steven Jackson among active players, and he has often stated his goal of someday passing Emmitt Smith for first place in history. Peterson will be 29 before the 2014 season starts, though, which means he is already in the later part of his prime. His punishing running style and the nature of playing such a taxing position will make it difficult, even for him, to keep the pace. This was Petersons third, though least invasive, surgery in the last 25 months. He had anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligament reconstruction in his left knee in December 2011. Then, after rushing for 2,097 yards and winning the NFL MVP award, Peterson had a procedure done in February 2013 to repair a sports hernia in his abdomen. Meyers performed that surgery, too. NASHVILLE -- Predators captain Shea Weber is day to day with an upper body injury and did not skate Thursday in Nashvilles first

NASHVILLE -- Predators captain Shea Weber is day to day with an upper body injury and did not skate Thursday in Nashvilles first practice since the defenceman was hurt. Brandon McCarthy Jersey . Weber left Tuesday nights 4-3 win at Winnipeg 3:28 into the third period and did not return. The Predators took Wednesday off, and Weber was not seen in the locker room after practice Thursday. The defenceman is the Predators second-leading scorer with 36 points, and he also is alternate captain for the Canadian Olympic hockey team for the Sochi Olympics. The two-time Norris Trophy finalist and 2010 Olympic gold medallist has missed only three games this season after taking a puck to the face Nov. 28. If Weber cant play against the New Jersey Devils on Friday night or Saturday night in St. Louis, that leaves the Predators with very little experience on defence. "Its a big deal if he doesnt play," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "Its a huge hole we have to fill." Michael Del Zotto is the most experienced defenceman currently on the roster, and Nashville just traded for him Jan. 22 in a deal sending Kevin Klein to the Rangers. Del Zotto is closing in on 300 career NHL games, and Roman Josi is the next closest defenceman with 145 games in the league. Ryan Ellis has 117 NHL games, and then theres rookie Seth Jones. "Its a young group," Trotz said. The Predators currently have 56 points and trail the Vancouver Canucks by seven points for the final wild card slot in the Western Conference. Nashville has four games left before the Olympic break. "Its definitely tough when you lose a guy like him," Jones said of Weber. "Anyone its tough, but especially him. Hes our leader. He kind of makes us go ... Without him, itll definitely be tough. But other guys on the D corps and the team will definitely step up." Justin Turner Jersey . TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie tweeted on Monday that Hemsky will be going to market as an unrestricted free agent on July 1.NEW YORK -- Michael Vick is switching green jerseys -- and maybe trading his clipboard for a starting job. The New York Jets signed the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback to a one-year deal Friday, and released Mark Sanchez, the one-time face of the franchise. "I love competition and I love football," Vick said during a conference call Friday night. "And, I feel I have a lot of football left to play." Vick will present a real challenge to Jets starter Geno Smith, who played well down the stretch of his rookie season, but finished with 12 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. "As of right now," Vick said, "Genos the starting quarterback of this football team." But, Vick also made it clear that he still envisions himself as a starter. "I wouldnt say I would necessarily be OK with sitting on the bench all year," Vick said. "But, I know what I signed up for and I know what I came to New York to do." He said his first order of business is competing with Smith and helping the second-year quarterback along. "At the end of the day," Vick said, "Ill be content with it." Vick said he met Smith last year during the draft process and has stayed in touch since. He also acknowledged that he wont wear his familiar No. 7 with the Jets, saying it was Smiths number to keep. Vick was a free agent after spending the last five seasons with the Eagles. He will be reunited with Jets offensive co-ordinator Marty Mornhinweg, who helped the quarterback have the best season of his career in Philadelphia in 2010. Vick was plagued by injuries the last three years and lost the starting job last year to Nick Foles. "I want to personally wish Michael Vick and his family all the best as he heads into the next phase of his career," Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement. "I really enjoyed getting to know him over the last five years. He always represented our team with a tremendous amount of class." Vick thanked the Eagles, their fans and the city of Philadelphia in an open letter posted on The Philadelphia Inquirers website. "I was honoured to be their quarterback and took the privilege to heart every day," he wrote. Vick was considered the top quarterback available in this off-seasons free agent class, although he didnt garner much attention. Vick said he was sold on the Jets because he enjoyed the idea of being reunited with Mornhinweg and playing for Rex Ryan, an opportunity he always hoped for. "Hes a great talent whos won many games, including playoff games, in this league," Mornhinweg said of Vick in comments posted on the teams website. "He has the respect of both his teammates and opponents. Hes here in a role where hes going to compete and push Geno Smith to become the very best that he can be. Michael will be able to go in and play at a high level and a winning level if called upon." Vick, who hhad a solid start in Chip Kellys up-tempo offence, injured a hamstring in Week 5 last season. Adrian Gonzalez Jersey. He was replaced by Foles, who led the Eagles to the NFC East title and was selected the Pro Bowl MVP. Despite losing the starting gig, Vick was praised by Kelly and team officials for being a leader in the locker room and maintaining an outstanding relationship with Foles and helping him through his second NFL season. "I have a lot left," Vick said. "Its evident with what I was able to do last year." The move by the Jets is reminiscent of the headline-making trade they made in 2008, when they acquired an unretired Brett Favre -- but as their unquestioned starter. The Vick signing also came two years to the day that the Jets made the stunning move to trade for Tim Tebow. Vick, a four-time Pro Bowl selection who will be 34 in June, was once considered the most dynamic player in the NFL, particularly during his first six NFL seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. His playing career was abruptly halted for two seasons in 2007 when he pleaded guilty to being part of a dog fighting ring. He served 21 months in federal prison, and two more in home confinement. Since his release in 2009, Vick has worked with the Humane Society of the United States to stop organized animal fighting. The move drew mixed reviews by Jets fans on Twitter and message boards, but that didnt concern Vick. "I appreciate all the Jets fans who appreciate me and accept me for who I am and what Ive become, not for what Ive done," Vick said. "Right now, my past is irrelevant." The Sanchez move came as no surprise, but completes a stunning downfall for the quarterback who once drew comparisons to Joe Namath after helping lead the Jets to consecutive AFC title games in 2009 and 2010. Sanchez struggled with consistency after that, and the lasting image of his time with the Jets came in 2012 when he fumbled after running into the backside of guard Brandon Moore. It was returned for a touchdown by New Englands Steve Gregory in front of a national television audience on Thanksgiving night and infamously labeled "The Butt Fumble." He spent last season on injured reserve after tearing the labrum in his right shoulder in a preseason game, clearing the way for Smith to start every game. Sanchez had three years remaining on his contract, but his $13.1 million salary cap number for next season -- and $2 million roster bonus due Tuesday -- made it unlikely the team would keep him at that amount. "Id like to thank Mark for everything hes done for this team and me personally," Ryan said in a statement issued by the team. "We were rookies together and had some early success, becoming the first rookie head coach-quarterback to go to back-to-back championship games.

Today, well look at five frontcourt players today, here from the Bay Area. 1. AMIR JOHNSON (Raptors): I cant figure out what the issue or problem is, but based upon what Im seeing, hes not right. Fernando Valenzuela Jersey . -- The Chicago Bears say they have agreed to a one-year contract with centre Roberto Garza. http://www.ladodgersprostore.us/Howie-Kendrick-dodgers-jersey/ . We experienced a lot together and I really appreciate Mark. "Hes a great player, a great teammate and I wish him nothing but the best." Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork. Juan Uribe Jersey .com) - What a difference two and a half weeks make. The Seattle Seahawks rode their defense to beat the San Francisco 49ers again as the bitter rivals continue heading in opposite directions. Marshawn Lynch ran for 91 yards and a touchdown and the Seahawks stifled the 49ers in the second half, eliminating them from playoff contention with a 17-7 victory on Sunday. Seattle (10-4) allowed 178 yards to San Francisco (7-7) in the first half, but clamped down and limited the 49ers to a meager 67 over the final 30 minutes. The Seahawks outscored the 49ers 14-0 in the second half. Seattle outgained San Francisco 379-164 during its 19-3 victory in Santa Clara on Thanksgiving Nov. 27, then racked up 440 yards while limiting the potent offensive attack of first-place Philadelphia to 139 during a 24-14 win last Sunday. The red-hot Seahawks clash with Arizona in Glendale next Sunday night with first place in the NFC West on the line. Were having a great time right now, Seahawks safety Earl Thomas said. I think we did great overall the whole game. The Seahawks have won four in a row and seven of their last eight, while San Francisco has dropped three consecutive games, including a 24-13 defeat to woeful Oakland last Sunday. Russell Wilson was 12-of-24 for 168 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Jermaine Kearse caught five passes for 78 yards for Seattle, which has beaten San Francisco four straight times at home and recorded its first season sweep in the series since 2007. Colin Kaepernick completed 11-of-19 passes for 141 yards for the 49ers, who lost running backs Frank Gore (concussion) and Carlos Hyde (ankle) along with linebacker Chris Borland (ankle) to injury. Im aware of it and I understand what it means, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said of his team missing the postseason. Well never give in, keep fighting. Sunday was the seventh time in their last eight contests that the 49ers failed to score more than 17 points. The 49ers held a 7-3 advantage when the Seahawks took over at their own 40 midway through the third quarter. Lynch picked up 15 yards on a left end run and Wilson hit Paul Richardson for an 11-yard completion to move the chains on a 3rd-and-10 and move the ball to the San Francisco 13-yard line. Lynchs 4-yard TD plunge three plays later capped the 10-play, 60-yard march and staked Seattle to a 10-7 lead late in the third. The Seahawks defense then forced a three-and-out and found the end zone again, although they were aided by a controversial roughing the passer penalty. Bryan Walters returned Andy Lees 53-yard punt 19 yards to the San Francisco 44. Wilson took a zone-read keeper 19 yards to the 49ers 20, with the penalty coming three snaps later on a 3rd-and-5. Wilson tossed an incomplete pass to Richardson, but Nick Moody hit Wilsons chest with his helmet and was flagged. Wilson then flipped a quick slant to Richardson two plays later for a 10-yard score. The 49ers then took the ensuing 7:50 off the clock, but Bruce Miller was stuffed on a 4th-and-1 at the Seattle 38 and they never threatened offensively again. Seattle opened the scoring late in the first quarter on its second possession. Wilson flipped a 10-yard completion to Doug Baldwin on a 3rd-and-6 to move the ball to the San Francisco 44. The second of two Eric Reid unnecessary roughness penalties put the Seahawks in field goal range and Steven Hauschka split the uprights from 38 yards out. San Francisco answered with a touchdown on its ensuing series. Kaepernick rolled right and floated a 31-yard completion to Garrett Celek down the right sideline. Anquan Boldin hauled in a low throw from Kaepernick on a 3rd-and-11 for a gain of 15 to get the 49ers to the Seattle 40. Gore was stuffed for no gain on a 3rd-and-1 from the Seattle 10 and Harbaugh elected to go for it on fourth down. Gore then scampered off left tackle for a 10-yard score to cap the 11-play, 85-yard trek and give San Francisco a 7-3 cushion early in the second. Wilson lofted a perfectly thrown ball to a well-covered Kearse down the right sideline and Kearse was able to corral it for a gain of 47. Seattle was able to get down to the San Francisco 30, but a Justin Britt holding call took it out of field goal range on first down. Dan Skuta sacked Wilson on 3rd-and-17 for a 2-yard loss to put the ball at the 39 and the Seahawks elected to punt. Seattle drove to the San Francisco 29 on its final touch of the second, but Reid intercepted Wilson on the final play of the half and returned it 73 yards to the Seahawks 24 before time ran out. Game Notes Seattle, which gained 152 rushing yards, had averaged 204.6 yards per game and 5.36 per carry over its last five games coming in ... The Seahawks kept the ball for 28:58 after holding it for at least 35 minutes in their last four ... Seattle was 8-of-14 on third down, while San Francisco was 6-of-15. Cedric Paquette, Brett Connolly and Valtteri Filppula each lit the lamp for the Lightning, who have won five of their last six games. Ryan Johansen had the only marker for the Blue Jackets, who have lost three of their last four. Curtis McElhinney allowed all three goals on 34 shots in defeat. The Lightning took a 1-0 lead with just 23.5 seconds to play in the first period after Jason Garrison sent a pass from the left point to the low left side where Brenden Morrow one-touched the pass to the front and Connolly finished it offf. GREEN BAY, Wis. Carlos Santana Jersey . - Jordy

GREEN BAY, Wis. Carlos Santana Jersey . - Jordy Nelson had a secret on the way to the first practice of Packers training camp. It didnt take long for the rest of his teammates to find out. Green Bays leading receiver now has a deal commensurate with his production after signing a contract extension just before taking the field Saturday morning. "So I was like the last one in the locker room and waiting on the paperwork to come down to get it done. That way, I had some security when I went out to practice," Nelson said. "That was a little bit different, and knowing no one knew (but) me the whole time Im riding down there and on the field." Soon enough, Nelson told fellow receivers and the quarterbacks. Coach Mike McCarthy found out in the middle of practice. Right about the time that Nelson was making a pretty touchdown catch on a long corner pass from Aaron Rodgers, word filtered out on social media. The Packers didnt divulge terms when announcing the signing after the end of practice, and NFL.com reported it was a four-year, $39 million deal with an $11.5 million signing bonus. "He said he re-signed and he was really happy," Rodgers said. "Now he can buy all the land in Kansas. Im very happy." Nelson, a Kansas native who attended Kansas State, posted career-bests of 85 catches and 1,314 yards last season. The 2008 second-round pick has developed into one of the top receivers in the league with his ability to make sideline catches. Rodgers thinks Nelson has top-notch instincts and reactions. "So its fun to see Jordy re-sign for four more. I told him that thats five (years) for him and Ive got six left, so were going to have to do one more after that and stick around a little bit longer," Rodgers said. The signing secures the teams top player at a position that had several high-profile departures in recent years. Reliable veteran James Jones left for Oakland in free agency in the off-season. After the 2012 season, Donald Driver retired and Greg Jennings departed as a free agent for division rival Minnesota. Now the Packers must also decide how to proceed with receiver Randall Cobb, a 2011 second-round pick going into the final year of his rookie deal. "Well, every coach wants his core guys, no doubt about it," McCarthy said. "Like I said before, if I was in charge of the player checkbook, we would have been way over the budget a long time ago." Nelsons extension overshadowed what likely would have been the top story line of Day 1 with the return of pass-rushing linebacker Clay Matthews. He watched during off-season workouts while recovering from a second surgery in the off-season to repair a broken right thumb. Practice Saturday had the Packers lining up Matthews and defensive end-linebacker Julius Peppers — the teams big free-agent acquisition — on the field at the same time. Its the ideal pass-rushing scenario for the team going into 2014. Matthews had what looked like a flexible black wrap protecting his right hand. There were no limitations with the linebacker, other than "just being smart," McCarthy said. The recovery process appeared to be a little frustrating for the long-haired linebacker. The thumb "feels pretty strong and will continue to get stronger with the reps I take on the football field," Matthews said. "This off-season was definitely an uphill battle coming off an injury, but I think that just makes this year that much more special to me." It will likely be memorable one as well for Nelson because of the extension. Lauded for his leadership qualities, Nelson seems content to finish his career in Green Bay. Nelson realizes this is a business. He also said he never considered holding out. "I dont like the word worth," Nelson said, interrupting a reporter who used it in a question. "I dont like the word worth because to be honest with you, I dont think any of us are worth this money. But its your value and the business were a part of." Note: LBs Mike Neal (abdomen) and Nick Perry (foot/knee) were close to being ready for practice, McCarthy said. The linebackers, who should rotate with Matthews and Peppers as pass rushers, had similar injuries last year. Francisco Lindor Indians Jersey . The San Francisco Giants needed a healthy second baseman who could step in and produce. Both are hoping they can solve each others problem. A week after being released by the Atlanta Braves and just days after signing a minor league deal with San Francisco, the Giants purchased Ugglas contract from Triple-A Fresno. They put him in the starting lineup for the opener of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night. "I know what I bring to a clubhouse. I know what I can bring on the field, and Im just looking forward to going out there and having fun with the guys," Uggla said after slipping into his newly stitched No. 22 Giants uniform. "No added pressure here on my end. Ive been in some dark places and battled my own struggles the last year and a half. But thats over now. Im here to have fun." The Giants have had little production from their second basemen this season. Marco Scutaro and Ehire Adrianza were placed on the 15-day disabled list before the game. Scutaros strained lower back has kept him out for all but five games this season -- though the Giants are still hopeful he can come back -- and Adrianza has a strained right hamstring that is considered minor. As a result, the Giants signed Uggla to a minor league deal Monday. They also designated left-handed pitcher Jose De Paula and infielder Nick Noonan for assignment Friday to make room for Uggla and infielder Tony Abreu, who was also called up from Triple-A. Uggla went 2 for 7 with two walks and an RBI in two games for Fresno. Giants manager Bruce Bochy had hoped Uggla could play more in the minors before calling him up. The latest round of injuries just didnt allow it. Bochy said hes hoping Uggla can pull off a turnaround similar to the kind Pat BBurrell and Jeff Francoeur did after signing with San Francisco in the middle of recent seasons. Paul ONeill Jersey. "Sometimes change is good," Bochy said. "We like taking a look at players who have a track record, and he has an outstanding track record. You look for them to be available, and really, the timing was perfect for us." Uggla will cost the Giants only $500,000. The Braves are responsible for the $18 million hes guaranteed over the rest of this season and next season. The 34-year-old second baseman has 233 career homers and a .244 average. He had five straight 30-homer seasons for the Marlins and Braves from 2007-11 and has made three NL All-Star teams. But since 2012, Uggla has hit just .196 with 43 homers and 143 RBIs in 1,101 at-bats. He said hes working on "staying short" in his swing instead of trying to hit home runs. "Were human. Were going to fall out of whack sometimes," Uggla said. "We have to get ourselves back into the right places some way or another. And for me, thats just trying to get the barrel to the ball and staying as short as I can." More than anything, Uggla is excited for another opportunity in the majors. He has some familiarity with his new teammates, playing with pitchers Tim Hudson in Atlanta and Yusmeiro Petit with the Marlins, but otherwise the Giants offer a clean slate. Uggla said he was excited to play in front of the nightly sellouts at AT&T Park. He compared the feelings before his debut with San Francisco to opening day. "Anytime you do have an opening day or a first game, thats kind of similar to the butterflies you get on opening day. Its a fresh start," he said. "Im excited about it. I got all the right nerves going, the anxious, excited-ness going. Im looking forward to getting it going." Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins (5) – He was locked in all night, made huge stops on Benoit Pouliot, Raphael Diaz, Ryan Mcdonagh, Carl Hagelin, Rick Nash (twice) but none better than the three saves on Mats Zuccarello. Battled some rebounds around the net, but made up for it with great positioning and efficiency in the net. Got a little help with three posts but like any streak, you get the bounces that go your way. He looked very calm and not overactive in his movements. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers (3) - No run support or help most of the night. The Sidney Crosby goal was a great hesitation - roll of wrist move that got him to open up and he slid it through the five- hole, - not Henriks best work. Has faced five breakaways in the last two games, the Rangers are giving up too many high quality chances to the Pens. Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings (5) - Unbelievable early on, big saves on the PK on Saku Koivu, Devante Smith-Pelly, Ryan Getzlaf and Patrick Maroon. Showed his agility again by his explosive movement in the second period on Perry, held it up in the 3rd, with good down low work again on Perry. Looks unbeatable some nights, and Anaheim tried to get to him with traffic, he fought through it all night. Jonas Hiller, Anaheim Ducks (3) - Beat glove side on the first two goals, one early on Marian Gaborik, and the Alec Martinez goal hits Jakob Silfverberg, but he moves out of the way of it. Good saves on Anze Kopitar, Gaborik,Mike Richards and Tanner Pearson. Not tested much in the third. Not the problem but has not been the solution for the Ducks as well. http://www.baseballyankeesmlb.com/authentic-babe-ruth-yankees-jersey/ . Jesus Navas bookended yet another huge home win for City by scoring after 14 seconds and again in second-half stoppage time, with Sergio Aguero also netting in each half to add to an own goal by Sandro and a brilliant strike by Alvaro Negredo. http://www.baseballyankeesmlb.com/authentic-joe-girardi-yankees-jersey/ . Johan Franzen had two goals and two assists, Gustav Nyquist a goal and three assists and David Legwand a goal and two assists in the Red Wings 7-4 win over the New Jersey Devils. http://www.baseballyankeesmlb.com/authentic-dellin-betances-yankees-jersey/ . Louis Blues are reportedly taking restricted free agent forward Vladimir Sobotka to arbitration.TSN Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie, Darren Dreger, and Pierre LeBrun have the latest on available players on the New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres, if moving Dave Bolland is a possibility for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and Steven Stamkos Olympics situation. From the moment Thomas Vanek turned down a reported $50 million contract offer from the New York Islanders, the thought was he has to be moved. Is a deal imminent? Pierre LeBrun: Its not imminent but it could happen before the end of the week, of course we have an Olympic trade freeze Friday at 3pm et. In a perfect world the Islanders would look to divest themselves of that big salary of Vaneks so they dont carry it through the Olympics. But that same big cap number is why some of the contenders – and we know that Los Angeles and Pittsburgh have some interest in Vanek – cant deal yet as they are right at the cap. So it makes this deal difficult before the Olympic freeze. To get Vanek, the asking price is three assets: any combination of a first-round pick, a young player, and a prospect. Whatever the combination, Islanders GM Garth Snow is trying to get his big haul here because we know how much he gave up to get Vanek at the start of the season. Bob McKenzie: The Islanders also have another asset in play in defenceman Andrew MacDonald. Heres a guy that is going to unrestricted free agency at the end of the season, hes only making $550,000 right now, but he leads the NHL in blocked shots. And for the last two seasons hes been the minutes leader for the Islanders. There has been a lot of interest in this player. The Islanders could do a deal with him, maybe between $4 million and $5 million a year, which would be a huge increase on what hes currently making, but the Islanders have lots of young defencemen coming and lots of teams are calling. MacDonalds name is definitely in play. And is one of Thomas Vaneks ex-teammates also drawing interest? McKenzie: That would be Steve Ott of the Buffalo Sabres. We all know that Matt Moulson has been drawing interest, with upwards of a double digit number of teams inquiring about Moulsons availability by the deadline. But Ott is attracting that much, if not more attention than Moulson. Obviously keep an eye on the Sabres, theyre at the bottom of the league and ready to offload people. In addition to Ott and Moulson there is the Ryan Miller scennario playing out but also Henrik Tallinder is another guy who could be moved as well as Drew Stafford and Cody McCormick. http://www.baseballyankeesmlb.com/authentic-chase-headley-yankees-jersey/. Dave Bolland hasnt played since November 2. Is he still in play? Darren Dreger: Hes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, so Dave Nonis and the Toronto Maple Leafs are going to have to figure out what option they want to pursue with Bolland. There are three of them: No. 1 is theyll negotiate relatively soon and find out what his number would be to avoid free agency. No. 2 is if they dont like the number at this stage in the season, they wait and use him as their own rental to push for the playoffs. No. 3, which isnt anywhere near as likely as No.1 but is certainly an option, is to trade Bolland if you know that a deal isnt likely to be made. By all accounts, everything is going to plan for Steven Stamkos. His plan is to play Saturday and then make a decision with Team Canada at that point. What is Team Canada doing to manage the situation if Stamkos cant go? Dreger: First of all, there are a couple hurdles Canada has to get by. No. 1: they want to find out what Wednesdays test results are medically speaking on Stamkos. Either way, expect Team Canada GM Steve Yzerman to reach out to at least a couple, as many as four or five, of the replacement players – Claude Giroux, James Neal, Eric Staal, Martin St. Louis – to put them on standby. Then you look to Saturday and if Stamkos is able to play against the Detroit Red Wings, then thats a great sign. Obviously theyll monitor how he feels post-game, then theyll make the decision as to whether he or somebody else gets on the Sunday charter flight. LeBrun: And theres a Stamkos-like situation playing out in Minnesota, obviously not getting as much attention. Mikko Koivu, the best player on the Finnish Olympic team, may not be able to play. This thing is going down to the wire. We know one thing, hes not going to play for the Wild this week. He hasnt played in a month after ankle surgery. Hes still recovering and skated on Tuesday, having felt better than he has in a couple days. But at the end of the day, be it Friday or Saturday, Koivu has to get together with Minnesota team doctors and the Finnish Olympic team to make a call on whether or not hes fit to play in the Olympics. That would be a gigantic loss for Finland. Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Jerseys From China Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
