(SportsNetwork. Wholesale Devils Jerseys .com) - The Miami Heat stopped a four-game losing streak last time out and thats the same length slide their opponents Wednesday night, the Denver Nuggets, will try to halt when the two teams meet at the Pepsi Center. The Heat marched into Phoenix on Tuesday night and left with a 103-97 victory. That ended a four-game slide, a three-game road losing streak and got the Heat a win on this five-game trek, which ends Friday against the Utah Jazz. Chris Boshs personal seven-point run late in regulation carried the Heat to victory. Miami, which had lost four in a row all by double digits, trailed 91-90 after Marcus Morris drained a 3-pointer with 3:17 left in the fourth quarter. Bosh, though, hit a 14-footer, scored in the lane and drained a dagger 3-pointer on consecutive possessions to give the Heat the lead for good. I wanted to win really bad tonight, said Bosh. We played together and things worked out great. After being limited to 12 points in Sundays loss to Memphis, Bosh poured in 34 on 14-of-21 shooting. Luol Deng chipped in with 23 points and Dwyane Wade netted 16 for Miami, which shot 53.8 percent from the floor and forced 23 turnovers. The Nuggets have dropped four in a row, including three straight on the road. They had the Toronto Raptors on the ropes Monday night, but fell in overtime, 112-107. Denver led in the fourth quarter after it overcame a 16-point deficit. The 35-point first quarter set us back, Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw said. Thats been our problem, not only on this trip, but this entire season. We dig a hole for ourselves. Arron Afflalo and Ty Lawson combined to score 47 points for the Nuggets. Lawson had 12 assists to go with his 22 points. Wilson Chandler scored 18 in the loss and Timofey Mozgov had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Denver had a chance to win in regulation but turned the ball over on a shot- clock violation, giving Toronto possession with 4.3 seconds left, but Lowry missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Chandler knocked down a 3 for Denver to start overtime, but the Nuggets didnt score again until Alonzo Gees bucket in the final seconds. The Nuggets visit the Houston Rockets on Saturday, then play four straight at home. The Nuggets ended a three-game series losing streak with a win in March, but the Heat have won two in a row in Denver. Prior to that mini streak, the Nuggets were 10-0 as the host against Miami. The veteran goaltender wanted to be traded, and the Vancouver Canucks tried desperately to accommodate him. Luongo knew the time and money left on his 12-year, US$64-million contract made that more difficult, but until this past weekend it still looked like it would happen. When Cory Schneider was shipped off to the New Jersey Devils instead, it brought Vancouvers goaltending situation into sharp focus: Luongo is the unquestioned No. 1. But now Luongo has the challenging task of resuming a role he lost and trying to reclaim the status of elite goaltender in the city he asked to be dealt from. "I think hes been prepared to move on for about a year now. To have that taken away, you have to sort of reset and readjust," Schneider said. "Its not easy to do, but hes a resilient guy and hes been through all this before, and Im just hoping that he makes the best situation he can and that he can keep playing well and be the goalie that we all know he can be." The goalie Luongo can be is more evident on his resume than in his reputation. The 34-year-old won a gold medal with Canada at the 2010 Winter Olympics after replacing Martin Brodeur, and he came one victory away from capturing the Stanley Cup for the Canucks in 2011. But Luongos save percentage dropped to .907 during the lockout-shortened season as he and Schneider dealt with the uncertainly and attention of sharing the net. He became far more popular for his Twitter personality than his play. GM Mike Gillis is counting on Luongo returning to gold-medal form now that the situation was finally resolved. "I believe Roberto is a professional," he said. "I think he is an outstanding person, an outstanding goaltender and I anticipate him being one of the front runners for the Sochi Olympics playing goal for Canada. Based on all those features I dont expect there to be a problem, but I havent spoken to him." Owner Francesco Aquilini flew to Florida to speak with Luongo on Sunday. According to Schneider, the Canucks organization didnt have much contact with either goalie as Gillis tried to figure a way out. But Luongo and Schneider stayed in touch, talking over the weekend as rumours swirled. The 27-year-old wished his old partner nothing but the best as he came to grips with getting a new start in New Jersey. Luongo doesnt get to start fresh, but Gillis sspoke to agent Gilles Lupien and figures life can now go on as normal. Adidas Pavel Zacha Jersey. "Im not anticipating there being issues, but if there are, well deal with them," Gillis said. "He signed a long-term contract with our club for a lot of money and (was) very happy to do it." Money doesnt guarantee great goaltending. The Philadelphia Flyers figured that out with Ilya Bryzgalov after buying him out of the final seven seasons of a nine-year, $51-million deal. But Luongo has a history that suggests he can rebound now that he doesnt have to split duties with Schneider. Luongos best seasons have come when he has played the bulk of games, like when he had a .928 save percentage when playing 60 in 2010-11. Luongo is a bit older now, but Schneider doesnt have any doubts about the veteran returning to form. "Hes been a resilient guy and hes been through a lot and hes been counted out and knocked down and hes always gotten back up," Schneider said. "Having worked with him for three years now, I just know hes a great goalie, whether thats in Vancouver or anywhere else. I think hes going to play his hardest to be his best." Schneiders agent Mike Liut, meanwhile, said he was not surprised the goaltender was traded. "In the end it went as expected," Liut said in an e-mail. "The Canucks original plan was to trade Cory at some point because Robertos contract extended him into his 40s. That the Canucks altered that strategy to moving Roberto was more surprising than their final decision to switch back to seeking a trade involving Cory. All part of the game." Liut said Schneider was disappointed in being traded, but understood that few players spend their entire careers with one team. "We knew that Robertos contract would be difficult to trade because of its term/dollars at best," said Liut. The agent indicated the new collective bargaining agreement worked against Schneider staying because the Canucks and another team could both take a sizable salary cap if Luongo is traded and retires before his contract expires. Luongos contract is front-loaded, so he earns much more in the early years, and the annual cap hit is manageable. But under the new CBA, the so-called Luongo rule seeks to offset the early soft hits. "The punitive cap benefit capture that. The NHL demanded in the new CBA made Robertos contract all the more difficult to trade," said Liut. Now she will get to run what may be Canadas hottest sport. The Toronto resident was named president and chief executive officer of the sports national governing body Tennis Canada on Friday. She hopes to use the growing popularity of tennis to get more people playing at the local courts and to develop more Milos Raonics and Eugenie Bouchards. "We have experienced unbelievable success in the last number of months and years," she said. "If we can continue to build on that success, I think we can inculcate a culture of tennis in this country. "Its really getting the children and youth of this country playing on courts in their neighbourhoods, just picking up rackets and playing. Its really changing the culture of Canada." A lot of the presidents job is finding sponsors and raising money to finance programs across the country that may produce the next tennis stars, as well as running the Rogers Cup and other tournaments. She couldnt have walked into a better climate for that. Canadian tennis is on a high, with Raonics rise to a career-high 10th in world rankings (the Thornhill, Ont., resident is currently 11th) last summer, and with Vernon, B.C. native Vasek Pospisil not far behind at 30th. They helped Canadas Davis Cup team reach the world group semifinals in 2013, their best performance of the modern era. On the womens side, 19-year-old Bouchard Montreal had fans on the edge of their seats as she battled into the semifinals of the first grand slam event of the season in Australia this week. TSN reported more than four million watched the 2012 Wimbledon junior girls champions semifinal loss to Chinas Li Na. That sparked a run of ticket sales to see Bouchard and the Canadian womens team face Serbia in a Federation Cup tie Feb. 8-9 at the 4,000-seat Claude Robillard Centre in Montreal. "There is no more exciting time for tennis in Canada than right now, and wow, I get to be part of the team that will take Canada to the next level -- to the moon," she said. Murumets was introduced to the media by Tennis Canada chairman John LeBoutillier at Uniprix Stadium, which is part of the national training centre that helped produce Raonic, Bouchard and others. Cheap Cardinals Jerseys China. The centre opened in 2007 under former president and CEO Michael Downey, who announced in September he was stepping down to become chief executive of the prestigious British Lawn Tennis Association. He took over that job officially on Jan. 6. A search committee found Murumets, who was president of ParticipAction, an independent non-profit organization that supports healthy and active living for Canadians. Murumets looks to have plenty of enthusiasm. She has no specific projects in mind, but will spend her first weeks learning about the organization and seeing what can be done. Her goals are "getting more tennis rackets in more hands more often, continuing to deliver world class tournaments and developing the talent that makes us all so proud to be Canadians. Beyond that, the (Tennis Canada) team will help me understand where we need to focus." Before he left, Downey had hoped to start a national membership program for tennis players, and to land a tournament for Vancouver to go with the Rogers Cups in Montreal and Toronto. "We were looking for a person that would bring leadership and who would develop quickly a passion for tennis, whether he or she was a tennis player or not," said LeBoutillier. "And someone who wasnt coming for a year or two and then moving on to something else. "The hiring process went very smoothly and the committee made a unanimous recommendation to the board about a week ago." Murumets will officially begin her new position on March 3. In the meantime, she plans to spend a week playing and taking tennis lessons in Arizona. She comes armed with a load of university degrees -- a BA from Bishops, a masters in social work from Wilfrid Laurier and an MBA from Western. She recently resigned from the board of governors at Bishops. She was also president of a telecommunications company before joining ParticipAction. "I wanted to change the world," she said of her social work studies, adding that she returned from private business to not-for-profit organizations because "I believe we can change the world. "We have a chance to inspire Canadians to be more physically active -- to pick up a racket and play." Got a question on rule clarification, comments on rule enforcements or some memorable NHL stories? Kerry wants to answer your emails at cmonref@tsn. Cheap Braves Jerseys Authentic .ca. Hi Kerry, In the second period of the Ottawa-Columbus game, Blue Jackets forward Artem Anisimov had the puck and had his head down and Senators defenceman Eric Gryba threw a big body check on him. Anisimov was down and stayed that way for a few minutes. Gryba got a match penalty and a game misconduct for the hit, though most hockey fans Ive seen on social media (and commentators and analysts) deemed it a clean hit. I thought it was clearly a full body check with no intent and the one official was looking right at the play with a good view and didnt call anything until afterwards. I dont get it. I know its hard for the officials to make that call since hockey plays happen so fast. But since this official saw the play happen from a good angle, I have no idea how he didnt see what actually happened. Couldnt the official who saw it just say it was a clean hit to the other official and linesmen? If you were the ref that was looking at the play as it happened, what would you have done? Thoughts on the play? Thank you for your time, Haleigh J. -- Haleigh: While I am certainly concerned for the health and well-being of Artem Anisimov I, like you, see this as a legal body check in both the setup and execution of the hit delivered by Eric Gryba. Let me attempt to clarify your question as to why the referee called a match penalty from what you describe as, from a good angle. Referee Justin St. Pierre, backing up through the bottom of the end zone face-off circle, processed the visual information he received on the play and did react to the hit by raising his arm to call a penalty before the scrum developed. From this position, given the speed of the play, St. Pierre must have determined in the momentary aftermath of the hit that an illegal check to the head had been delivered. This is reasonable for the ref to determine given his angle (looking through the back of Gryba) and more so by the physical posture and reaction of both players following the contact. Grybas body naturally elevated as a result of impact and Anisimovs out of control fall and loss of his helmet provided the ref with incriminating imagery burnt into his mind in that moment. The time delay that resulted from the altercation that took place following the check, coupled with the fact that Anisimov required medical attention to remove him from the ice elevated the refs perception of the play to a match penalty. My take is considerably different. As you suggested, Anisimov had his head down and was looking back toward the puck with his body in a lowered posture. In setting up to make a legal check, Gryba mirrored his opponent by lowering his body posture as well with the intent to make a shoulder check through Anisimovs body. The body posture of both players is a key component in the set up of the intended check. Just prior to impact Gryba stiffened his legs slightly and delivered a shoulder check off the centre mass of Anisimov. While some secondary contact to the head resulted the main contact was delivered through Anisimovs chest and shoulder. Once the referee determined that an illegal check to the head had been delivered, rule 48 provides for only two penalty options to assess; a minor or a match penalty. There are no provisions for a major penalty or game misconduct within this rule. A match penalty is to be assessed at the Referees discretion if, in his judgment, the player attempted to or deliberately injured his opponent with an illegal check to the head. In my judgment, for the reasons stated above, I do not believe that was the case. The closest official to the play made the call. In response to your last portion of the question, his partner, veteran referee Paul Devorski, would have been trailing the play a considerable distance away and on the opposite side of the ice. It would be highly unlikely that he would attempt to override the decision made by his partner whom he would assume was in better position to observe the play more clearly. Wholesale Braves Jerseys . BOSTON -- Instant replay, meet the Pesky Pole. David Ortiz hit a three-run homer high over Fenway Parks right-field foul pole on Wednesday, helping the Boston Red Sox rally for a 4-2 victory over the Texas Rangers. The fair call was confirmed by a replay review, according to Major League Baseballs replay Twitter account. "It was pretty close, but I knew it was fair," said Ortiz, who watched the ball sail into the seats before leaving the batters box. "I wanted to make sure it was fair. I wanted to keep watching it." The Rangers took a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth and brought in Neal Cotts to face Ortiz with one out and two on in the bottom half. Ortiz, who had been 0 for 5 with five strikeouts against Cotts, lined a 1-1 fastball down the right-field line. Because the ball was much higher than the pole, which was named for former Red Sox shortstop Johnny Pesky, it was hard to tell where it crossed into foul territory. The pole is just 302 feet from home plate. "From our angle, its extremely difficult to tell," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "We felt like it would be inconclusive at best with any type of replay that was available." Umpire Jerry Meals signalled a home run. Rangers manager Ron Washington waited until Ortiz crossed home plate and came out to ask for a review. After a brief chat with home plate umpire Jordan Baker, the crew went to the visitors dugout and returned a short time later to confirm the original ruling. After 44.1 seconds, the play was upheld. "You cant count the big boy out. You cant count this ballclub out," said Red Sox starter Jake Peavy, who did not earn a decision after leaving a 1-1 game in the sevennth inning. Andrew Miller (1-0) earned the victory despite allowing the Rangers to score the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth. Koji Uehara pitched the ninth for his second save. Alexi Ogando (0-1) allowed two runs in the loss. "Ortiz is one of the best and one of the clutchest hitters," Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus said. The Red Sox scored in the third inning on two walks and a swinging bunt single that was thrown away for an error by pitcher Robbie Ross. The Rangers tied it in the seventh on Mitch Morelands homer and took a 2-1 lead in the eighth when Andrus scored on Alex Rios sacrifice fly. But Ogando walked Jackie Bradley Jr. to lead off the bottom half, and then A.J. Pierzynski blooped a popup down the right-field line that fell in for a single. One out later, Ortiz delivered his 24th career go-ahead homer in the eighth inning or later. "I felt comfortable with Neal up against him," Washington said. "David won." Miller pitched one inning for the win. Ogando struck out four but was charged with two runs on one hit and a walk in his two innings. NOTES: The Red Sox activated LHP Craig Breslow and optioned RHP Brandon Workman to Triple-A Pawtucket. ... Peavy left his only other start this season with the score 2-2 after 6. ... Andrus has hit safely in all nine games this season. Rios had hit safely in the first eight before going 0 for 2 with a walk on Wednesday. ... WASHINGTON -- Fabian Espindola scored twice and added an assist to lead D. Wholesale Indians Jerseys .C. United to a 4-1 victory over short-handed FC Dallas on Saturday night. Bobby Boswell and Sean Franklin also scored for the Washington club, which extended its unbeaten run to five matches and scored all four of its goals after the first-half ejection of Dallas defender Zach Loyd. Dallas Michel also was sent off late by referee Fotis Bazakos. D.C. forward and U.S. World Cup hopeful Eddie Johnson assisted on Espindolas first goal just before halftime, but left in the 51st minute with an apparent leg injury. Mauro Diaz put the visitors ahead early to extend Dallas streak of scoring at least one goal to seven matches. United improved to 3-2-2, and Dallas dropped to 5-2-1. But Dallas has conceded eight goals in its last three matches after allowing only six over its first five. United rarely looked like scoring, however, until Bazakos issued a second yellow card for Loyds slide tackle on Uniteds Davy Arnaud in the 39th minute. D.C. immediately seized momentum and pulled even deep into first-half stoppage time when Espindola headed in Johnsons outswinging cross. United then sealed things over a 10-minute span midway through the second half. Boswell put United ahead in the 60th minute when he hammered in a rebound after Chris Seitz saved Conor Doyles initial close-range shot. It was 3-1 three minutes later when Espindola split a pair of Dallas defenders on the left and chipped a cross toward Franklin, who side-footed his finish inside the right post. In the 69th, Espindola scored his second -- and his fourth of the season -- when he took Chris Rolfes feed on a counter attack and drove another low finish beyond Seitz. After snapping a 15-match streak without a victory that stretched back to August of 2013, United is now on its longest unbeaten run since it went seven unbeaten to close the 2012 regular season. Manning was the was the featured speaker at the Bnai Brith sports banquet Thursday night, and he promised the crowd of 1,200 hell keep shouting "Omaha!" at the line of scrimmage. Manning has been using the citys name as part of his pre-snap routine for years, but his "Omaha!" chants put the city of 400,000 in the national spotlight during the playoffs because they came in so loud and clear over television field microphones. "I cant tell you how many suggestions I get on what word I should use next year -- cities, states, businesses, a lot of websites," Manning said. "I am here to tell you I am sticking with Omaha! " With that, the crowd erupted in hoots and applause. Before the banquet, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce presented Manning a check for almost $70,000 for his foundation for at-risk children. Businesses donated money for every pre-snap "Omaha!" shouted by the 2013 NFL MVP. "Im very pleased to be here in the real city of Omaha," he said. "People of this city have been very gracious to me during my visit here. This (donated money) will go a long way to help the children at risk." The chamber of commerce co-ordinated the fundraising effort to thank Manning for the shout-outs and free publicity. The Omaha zoo named a newborn penguin "Peyton," and Omaha Steaks sold an "Omaha, Omaha" variety package of mmeats for Super Bowl partiers. Cheap Indians Jerseys. A local ice cream parlour created a flavour in Mannings honour, "Omaha, Omaha," which had an orange-vanilla base mixed with blue malt balls -- Broncos colours. Manning gave no hint about what his "Omaha!" chants really mean or the reason why he and other quarterbacks use the word as they change plays at the line. Mannings speech focused on the methods he employed to be a successful NFL quarterback. He stressed the importance of putting in extra work, intense film study and a willingness to be a leader. He also touched on the obstacles the Broncos overcame to reach the Super Bowl, where they lost to Seattle. "We faced a ton of injuries, including losing not one but two centres, lost our left tackle for the entire year, probably the best in the entire league, and we lost a player to a six-game suspension," he said. "And then in the middle of the season our head coach had a heart attack and was out for five weeks. The deck was shuffled, and there were so many things that pointed to having a bad year. We handled more adversity in a single season than most teams will in a five- or 10-year span." The 38-year-old quarterback said he has set no timetable for retirement. "I feel lucky to still be playing the game, and I enjoy being around these young guys. They keep me feeling young," he said. "Im going to keep doing it as long as I can still help the team, as long as I still enjoy the preparation, and as long as the team still wants me to play." OAKLAND, Calif. Cheap MLB Jerseys . - Ben Zobrist needs few reminders of the quirks that come with playing in the Oakland Coliseum, his new home.In the 10th inning of a loss last August playing for the Rays, a small opossum scurried alongside the Tampa Bay left fielder and he caught glimpse of the critter out of the corner of his eye.Apparently that was a good omen for the As, and not so much for us, he said with a chuckle Monday.Zobrist might be in for far more sightings of his new furry friend after the As acquired the two-time All-Star infielder along with shortstop Yunel Escobar on Saturday to fill out the middle of their infield. The As sent catcher John Jaso and two minor leaguers to the Rays in the trade.Zobrist combines with Fernando Abad to complete general manager Billy Beanes A-to-Z makeover of the As spanning the past 14 months. The 33-year-old Zobrist helped the Rays make the playoffs four of the past seven seasons, including an improbable run to the World Series in 2008. He hit .272 with 10 home runs and 52 RBIs last season, and made starts at second base, shortstop, all three outfield spots and designated hitter. He will never forget the shock of those opossum eyes staring right at him last summer.Zobrist noticed the creature on a foul ball by Alberto Callaspo earlier in the 10th inning of the 3-2 defeat on Aug. 4.That was a strange moment, Zobrist said Monday. I was playing a little bit in the gap so I wasnt paying a lot of attention to the corner over there. I ran a long way for a foul ball and I was over near the bullpen and I saw the ball go into the stands and just kind of out of the corner in my eye there was something in the corner of my eye. Im like, What in the world? I thought it was maybe a piece of paper. I looked over and there it was, a baby possum just staring right up at me. I stood there just frozen for a second, looking at this thing like, Where did you come from?Zobrist, ready to step in at second base, looks forward to maintaining his double-play rhythm with Escobar at shortstop and said that could make for a more seamless transition to his new team.Every year theres a little bit of a culture change in every clubhouse. There is a new dynamic and a new culture and chemistry that has to be cultivated from the start of the season every year, Zobrist said. Its interesting, it definitely was a little bittersweet. You think a lot about the time weve spent in Tampa Bay. Its been eight years. Its hard to leave behind a lot of friends and relationships there, but at the same time were thinking ahead and were looking forward to the new baseball chapter and the new challenge ahead. Also Monday, right-hander Jesse Chavez agreed to a $2.15 million, one-year contract that avoided salary arbitration.Chavez stepped in as a key member of the rotation in 2014 when projected starters Jarrod Parker and A.J. Griffin were each lost for the year to elbow injuries that required surgery.Chavez, 31, went 8-8 with a 3.45 ERA with 21 starts and 32 appearances for a career-high 146 innings last year, when he made $775,000.The teams remaining arbitration-eligible players are Abad, Ryan Cook, Sam Fuld, Craig Gentry, Brett Lawrie, Jarrod Parker, Josh Reddick and Eric Sogard. INJURIES - Reds RF Jay Bruce is facing knee surgery for a torn meniscus and it could cost him a month of playing time. Chris Heisey, who has shown some pop (43 home runs, .736 OPS in 1218 career plate appearances) takes over in right for the Reds. - The Reds are also missing LHP Tony Cingrani, who has shoulder tendinitis, but Cincinnati can get away with a four-man rotation for the time being. - A torn tendon in his right hand leaves RHP Brandon Morrow on the 60-day DL, giving J.A. Happ a chance to return to the rotation. Happ has been rocked in three relief appearances this year, so it may not be long before Marcus Stroman gets his turn. Stroman, a 2012 first-round pick, has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo, where he was 2-2 with a 1.69 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings. Stroman starts in the bullpen but figures to be next in line for a rotation opening. - With 1B Chris Davis on the DL due to a strained oblique, Steve Pearce is getting regular playing time for the Orioles. Pearce has done little (.222 AVG, .556 OPS) in 27 plate appearances this year, but since joining the Orioles in 2012, he has seven home runs, 29 RBI, a .253 average and .748 OPS in 248 plate appearances. - A strained hamstring has put White Sox CF Adam Eaton on the DL, giving Jordan Danks a shot at some regular playign time. In 300 career plate appearances, Danks is hitting .207 with a .606 OPS and a dozen stolen bases, so he hasnt clicked in the bigs yet, but had a respectable .772 OPS in four seasons (1566 plate appearances) at Triple-A. - Indians 2B Jason Kipnis is out with a strained oblique, and the Tribe has turned to 21-year-old Jose Ramirez. Ramirez doesnt have any power to speak of, but hit .308 with a .765 OPS and 75 stolen bases, in 1172 minor-league plate appearances. - Need a catcher? While Rockies C Wilin Rosario deals with a viral infection, consider Jordan Pacheco, who is the primary backup in Colorado. Pacheco had played primarily first and third base with the rockies, but, prior to this season, had seen action at catcher in 22 of 213 career games. This year, Pacheco has caught in 10 games, and is hitting .278 with a .769 OPS. He hasnt hit enough to have value as a corner infielder, but as a catcher? Thats a different story. - Tigers RHP Anibal Sanchez is on the DL due to a laceration on his finger, giving LHP Robbie Ray (3-2, 1.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 21 K, 29 1/3 IP at Triple-A) a turn in the Detroit rotation. Ray was acquired from Washhington as part of the Doug Fister trade in the offseason. Cheap MLB Jerseys Authentic. . - A run-in with a kitchen knife has sent Giants RHP Matt Cain to the DL, opening up a spot in the rotation for Yusmerio Petit, the 29-year-old who has a 3.31 ERA in 73 1/3 innings with the Giants since 2012. - Angels 3B David Freese suffered a broken finger on the weekend, leaving the hot corner in the hands of Ian Stewart, the one-time top prospect who has power (hit 25 HR in 2009), but is hitting .186 with seven home runs in 396 plate appearances since the start of 2011. - Twins RHP Mike Pelfrey is sidelined with a groin problem, giving Samuel Deduno a chance to return to the starting rotation. Dedunos strikeout rate has improved, working out of the bullpen this year, though hes also giving up more base-runners than he did last season, when he was 8-8 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 18 starts for the Twins. GOOD ADDS (Available in at least 40% of TSN leagues) Jhonny Peralta, SS, St. Louis - 7 HR, 15 RBI, .222 AVG, 13 R, 108 AB (Available: 48.6%) Omar Infante, 2B, Kansas City - 2 HR, 19 RBI, .282 AVG, 13 R, 110 AB (Available: 49.5%) Todd Frazier, 3B, Cincinnati - 5 HR, 18 RBI, .269 AVG, 17 R, 3 SB, 97 AB (Available: 40.6%) Chris Young, CF, N.Y. Aaron Loup is the short-term option there, while Casey Janssen is due back from injury soon. - After being removed from the closers role, Angels RHP Ernesto Frieri may be about to reclaim the job from sidearmer Joe Smith. Frieri ha worked four perfect relief outings since he was bumped from the job. - The lonely Houston Astros closer job is being split, by Anthony Bass and Chad Qualls. As if one couldnt handle all those opportunities. - Oaklands Jim Johnson has pitched 10 1/3 IP since he was knocked out of the closers job, but that stretch has put him at the head of the committee which includes Luke Gregerson and Sean Doolittle. NEW YORK -- Brian McCann will have all winter to figure out what went wrong in his first year with the New York Yankees. Cheap Swingman Nuggets Jerseys . In the meantime, hes trying to help them make a late push to reach the playoffs. McCann homered among his career high-tying four hits and the Yankees bounced back to end a three-game losing streak, beating the Boston Red Sox 5-1 Wednesday night. "Its just good to contribute," he said. McCann homered a day earlier as the Yankees got battered by Boston, leaving them five games behind for the second AL wild-card spot. In the rematch with the last-place Red Sox, he drove in three runs and gave an early cushion to Hiroki Kuroda (10-. McCann has mostly been a disappointment with the Yankees, stuck in a season-long slump. A seven-time All-Star for Atlanta, he signed a rich free-agent deal with New York but hasnt hit much, prompting manager Joe Girardi to note before the game, "I think he expected more from himself." "It took me longer to get going with the bat than normal," McCann agreed. "I havent tried to dissect it." McCann went 4 for 4 after opening the game hitting .237, 40 points below his career average. Then again, nobody has really hit much among these longtime rivals. They began the day as the two lowest-scoring teams in the AL, and no one in either starting lineup was batting over .285. Kuroda gave up one run and four hits in seven innings, striking out eight without a walk. He evened his mark at 78-78 in seven seasons for the Yankees and Dodgers. Anthony Ranaudo (3-1) lost for the first time in his four starts since making his big league debut. Boston kept up its weeklong pattern of alternating wins and losses. McCann connected for his 17th homer, a two-run shot in the second. The drive quieted Ranaudos sizable cheering section -- raised in central New Jersey, he beat the Yankees last month in his first game. "I was a little disappointed that we lost the game in general, that the team lost the game," Ranaudo said. "I wasnt really worried about my family or friends. Its great that they were here, that they support me and everything like that, but the team is definitely way more important." McCann got four hits for the 11th time in his career, capped by an RBI single in the seventh. Hes homered 15 times at home this year, and launched his latest shot to right field over the overshifted Boston defence. Lately, hes even tried to bunt to beat the stacked right side. "It looks like theres 12 guys out there," he said. A day after bad baserunning dearly cost the Yankees, they tried a double steal in the first. Instead, Derek Jeter and Brett Gardner ran right into a double play. Jeter was on second and Gardner was on first when they took off. Catcher Christian Vazquez targeted the trailing runner, trapping Gardner in a rundown. Second baseman Jemile Weeks suddenly zipped a throw across the diamond that caught Jeter straying off third, and third baseman Brock Holts toss nailed Gardner at second. The Red Sox werent so swift around the bags, either. Daniel Nava got picked off first by Kuroda, seeming incredibly nonchalant returning to the base. Moments earlier, Kuroda had looked back Nava without making a throw. TRAINERS ROOM Red Sox: 2B Dustin Pedroia missed his fourth game in a row because of concussion-like symptoms. Manager John Farrell said Pedroia took early batting practice and passed an online test in his recovery. Farrell said he was "optimistic" Pedroia would play during Bostons upcoming homestand, which starts Friday night. Yankees: INF-OF Martin Prado has temporarily been shut down because of a mild strain of his left hamstring. He was hurt Tuesday night, and Girardi said "hopefully its just a day or two." UP NEXT Red Sox RHP Brandon Workman (1-8, 4.93 ERA) starts the series finale Thursday night against LHP Chris Capuano (2-3, 4.24). Capuano began the season with Boston and pitched 28 times in relief before being released. He later played in the minors for Colorado and joined the Yankees in late July. THREE OF A KIND Bostons 3-4-5 hitters -- David Ortiz, Yoenis Cespedes and Nava -- all began the game batting .263. The last time three teammates in a row had the same average this late in a season was Sept. 8, 2011, when Kansas Citys Alex Gordon, Melky Cabrera and Billy Butler each was hitting .300, STATS said. SAN FRANCISCO - Miami Marlins manager Mike Redmond has no explanation for why his club has played so well at home and struggled so much on the road this season. Cheap Bucks Jerseys China . Wins like Friday night will help erase those questions. Casey McGehee singled home the winning run with one out in the ninth inning to atone for a costly error and help the Marlins earn a rare road win, 7-5 over the San Francisco Giants. "I think were still trying to figure it out," Redmond said. "If I had an answer to why were so much better at home to on the road, wed fix it, right? But these guys keep battling. They keep fighting. You saw that tonight. We dont quit. We keep grinding. We might make a few mistakes, but we keep going." The Marlins made plenty of mistakes. They also made some big plays, too. Derek Dietrich and Christian Yelich homered, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia snapped an 0-for-26 skid by tying his career high with four singles to stop Miamis slide. The Marlins entered the game losers of six of their past seven games and a majors-worst 4-16 record away from home. They also are a league-best 17-5 at home. "Weve seen those games go the other way sometimes, especially on the road right now. It was huge for us to be able to stick in there and get that one," McGehee said. Santiago Casilla (1-1) got out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth, but couldnt escape trouble in the ninth. The right-hander allowed two baserunners before McGehees tiebreaking grounder to right field. "It just had eyes and got through the infield," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Thats the way the game goes." Garrett Jones added an RBI single off lefty Javier Lopez and made a leaping catch in the netting of the photographers pit in foul territory in the bottom of the ninth. Mike Dunn (4-3) pitched a scoreless eighth, and Steve Cishek converted his eighth save for Miami. Neither starter pitched well but did just enough to give his team a chance in the final innings. Henderson Alvarez allowed five runs — four earned — and 10 hits in six innings for the Marlins. He struck out four and walked none. Giants right-hander Yusmeiro Petit, filling in while Tim Hudson rested his nagging hip, gave up five runs — four earned — on seven hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked none. "I lost a little bit of my command in the first inning. I tried to stay close in the game," Petit said. After wasting a 4-1 lead in a loss Thursday night to San Francisco, Miami moved ahead 4-1 again but rallied back late this time. The Giants had three RBI hits with two outs, including pinch-hitter Gregor Blancos bloop single in the sixth that tied it at 5-all. Blancos hit came after McGehee couldnt corral a grounder at third. "I still feel terrible. Alvarez battled through and it wouldve been nice to get him the win," McGehee said. Defence — or a lack thereof — proved pivotal in the late innings. Redmond successfully challenged a transfer rule call in the fifth. After a replay review, umpires ruled Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton caught Hunter Pences fly in the web of his glove and dropped the ball trying to transfer it to his hand for a throw. Buster Poseys flyout to right later scored Angel Pagan, who had advanced to third on Stantons botched transfer. Stanton made up for the play with an outstretched catch of Michael Morses fly near the wall in the eighth. Pagan also made a spectacular over-the-head catch on Dietrichs deep fly for the first out of the seventh and held on after running into the padded wall in left-centre. And Casilla got pinch-hitter Ed Lucas to ground into a double play with the bases loaded to end the eighth. NOTES: It was the fifth time Saltalamacchia had four hits in a game. ... Stantons career-high 17-game hitting streak ended after going 0 for 5. ... San Francisco hosted "Metallica Night," which included members of the heavy metal band playing the national anthem, drummer Lars Ulrich throwing out the ceremonial first pitch and singer James Hetfield announcing San Franciscos starting lineup. ... Carolinas Pro Bowl quarterback did some light throwing during Wednesdays OTA and coach Ron Rivera said afterward he wouldnt rule out Newton participating in the teams mandatory minicamp June 17-19. "I wouldnt put it past him," Rivera said. If Newton can return early that would give him a chance to begin developing some chemistry with a completely revamped receiving corps. Carolina parted ways with its top four receivers from last season, including Steve Smith. Newton went through warm-ups with his teammates and then mostly played the role of cheerleader during the two-hour practice session, except for a short period where he threw 10- to 20-yard passes to receivers from a stationary position. However, Newton stayed after practice to throw a few dozen additional passes to some of the teams younger wide receivers, including first-round draft pick Kelvin Benjamin. The QB had surgery to relieve chronic pain in his left ankle and had been expected to miss four months -- which would have kept him out until just before the start of training camp. But he appears ahead of schedule. "Hes been doing it for the last few days -- throwing the ball on the side," Rivera said. "Hes been looking good, he really has. And Im excited about it. He says that foot is getting stronger and stronger every day so were excited about whats happening for him." Newton did not address the media Wednesday. He has been working on building a relationship with Benjamin, who helped Florida State win a national championship last season and is a player the team hopes will develop into the No. 1 receiver to replace Smith, who was released during the off-season. "Its neat to see," Rivera said. "They have kind of hit it off." Defensive end Greg Hardy, who was arrested earlier this month for assaulting a female and communicating threats, did participate in practice. Cheap NBA Jerseys. However, he declined interview requests as he left the practice field saying he had to get inside the stadium to lift weights. Hardy is scheduled to appear in court June 27 to answer the misdemeanour charges. Hardys teammates said they dont believe his arrest will be a distraction. "You just come to work. Thats what we do -- let the work speak for itself," said defensive end Charles Johnson. "I dont get into peoples personal lives. As long as (guys) come to work ready to work." Hardy has been a major producer for the Panthers the last two seasons. After registering 11 sacks in 2012, Hardy tied a franchise record with 15 sacks last season and was selected to his first Pro Bowl. "Gregs looked really good," Rivera said. "Its tough because were not in pads, so when he comes off the ball the tackles cant really strike him the way you normally would in pads. So I think advantage goes to him right now. Hes very quick, very athletic and doing some very good things." The NFC South champion Panthers made Hardy their franchise player earlier this year, giving him more than $13 million for the 2014 season. But that decision forced the salary cap strapped Panthers to part ways with other players following a 12-4 season.. Gone are Smith and fellow receivers Brandon LaFell and Ted Ginn Jr., offensive tackle Jordan Gross and defensive backs Captain Munnerlyn and Mike Mitchell. Johnson said he expects a lot of people to count the Panthers out because of the players theyve lost from last years team. He recommends they dont. "Just because we have new people doesnt mean we arent going to do good," Johnson said. "We are going to be all right." TAMPA, Fla. Cheap Los Angeles Clippers Jerseys . -- Tampa Bay Lightning star Steven Stamkos is walking without crutches or a boot two weeks after breaking his right leg and said Monday he fully expects to play again this season. The high-scoring centre was injured Nov. 11 against Boston. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher after crashing into the post. He had surgery the next day in Boston to stabilize a fractured shin bone and is now walking with a limp. "To be able to do what Im doing now and almost comeback to a normal life, being able to just move around on your own, Im definitely happy with that," said Stamkos, speaking with reporters for the first time since the injury. "Id say Ive overcome the initial shock and frustration and disappointment, and now its what do I have to do to get back as quick as possible. But obviously as smart as possible." Stamkos was hurt with 7:11 remaining in the second period. He was backchecking on a play when he got tied up with Bruins defenceman Dougie Hamilton. The pair went into the net hard. Speaking to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com, Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman talked about the prognosis for his superstar forward. "Its early, but our initial impression is that were encouraged hell be back on the shorter end of the recovery time period -- which is very broad -- but it looks initially that hell be back on the sooner rather than later end of that three-to-six months recovery period," said Yzerman. Yzerman, of course, is also the general manager of Team Canada for the Sochi Olympics. But he says that Stamkos timeline goal is the same regardless of whether the uniform he wears is blue or red. "Its one in the same, we want a healthy Stammer," Yzerman said. "And not just for this year, but for a long time to come. The No. 1 underlining factor is that were going to make sure we do whats best for Stevens long-term health. Hes 23 years old. Hes got a long career ahead of him. Were not going to do anything that jeopardizes him. Hes not coming back before hes 100 percent ready." Stamkos has 222 goals and 409 points in 390 NHL games. Cheap NBA Jerseys . CHARLESTON, S. Cheap NBA Jerseys .C. -- Montreals Eugenie Bouchard couldnt finish off German Andrea Petkovic on Saturday at the Family Circle Cup womens tennis tournament. Bouchard was two games away from recording the win and advancing to her second WTA Tour final. But the ninth-ranked Petkovic rallied for the 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory and hand the 20-year-old Bouchard her third loss in as many head-to-head meetings between the two. Playing her third straight three-set match, Bouchard was just one point away from going ahead 5-2 in the third. But Petkovic broke Bouchard twice down the stretch to advance to her first championship since Washington, D.C., last August where she fell to Magdalena Rybarikova in straight sets. "I think I just hesitated on a few balls and on my chances. Thats not the way I want to play," Bouchard said. "I really want to go for my shots, and when I hesitate, it doesnt end up well for me." Petkovic will face Jana Cepelova, who came back from 4-1 down in a third-set tiebreaker to oust 17-year-old Swiss qualifier Belinda Bencic 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7). Petkovic broke down and cried with a towel over her head after the match, happy and relieved that she was again in this position after the past three years dealing with injuries to her ankle, knee and back that caused her to miss nine months on tour. "I was just so relieved and I was proud that I came back from all these injuries, and I never thought that I would play finals in the big tournaments again," said Petkovic, who hadnt gotten past the quarter-finals in her six previous tournaments this season. Petkovic, ranked 40th in the world, calmly analyzed her first-set shortcomings and understood that with a few changes, she could get back in the match. "I wasnt that upset because I felt Genie was playing incredible tennis," she said. "I just lacked that 10 per cent." So Petkovic moved a step closer to the baseline so she could hit deeper forehands and put Bouchard on her heels. Things finally clicked midway through the second set as Petkovic fought off three break points to hold serve and begin her comeback. "I said, Even if I miss more, Im going to have to get the length or shes going to kill me," Petkovic said. Bouchard wasnt done, taking a 4-2 lead in the final set and having a chance to break serve for a bigger lead. But Petkovic hit a pair of crisp serves to win that game and followed by breaking Bouchards serve to tie the set at four games. Petkovic broke Bouchards serve a final time to close out the match on four consecutive points. Bouchard trailed in the third set in her two previous matches before eliminating No. 11 seed Venus Williams in the third round and No. 2 seed Jelena Jankovic in the quarter-finals. Against Petkovic, Bouchard says she didnt play as aggressively down the stretch as she had hoped. Petkovics father, Zoran, played college tennis at South Carolina and was among the Gamecocks top players with an 18-8 singles record in 1982. She hopes to give her family more reason to celebrate their connections to the Palmetto State. Andrea Petkovic, whos won two WTA titles at Strasbourg in 2011 and Bad Gastein in 2009, understands shell be expected to easily defeat her untested opponent. "They are super young, so they will come out and play great tennis," she said. "I am 100 per cent sure of that, so I will have it very tough and I will have to fight hard." INDIANAPOLIS -- Paul George spent much of Friday worried about whether hed be suspended for Game 7 against Atlanta. Not a chance. Less than an hour after wrapping up practice, an NBA spokesman confirmed in an email to The Associated Press that league officials reviewed the tapes from Thursday nights altercation and determined none of the players who stepped onto the court would be punished for the decisive game of this first-round series. It was no surprise to the Pacers. "Were planning for him to be here until were told hes not going to be in there," coach Frank Vogel said shortly before the decision was made public. "I think he stayed in the vicinity of the bench." Players who leave the "vicinity" of the bench during a fracas can be suspended under league rules. Few, including Stu Jackson, the leagues former disciplinarian, expected that to happen with George, who took two slow, short steps onto the court before he was pushed back by assistant coach Popeye Jones. Jackson wrote on Twitter that he didnt expect the league to suspend George, Indianas best player and an All-Star starter. Losing George would have been a major blow to the Pacers comeback hopes. George has topped 20 points in all six games, has double-doubles in five of them and has been the one Pacers defender able to slow down quick, shifty Hawks guard Jeff Teague. And it was George and David West who saved the Pacers season with a late Thursday night in Atlanta, too. All the leagues best regular season home team must do now to reach the second round and avoid the distinction of becoming the sixth No. 1 seed in league history to be eliminated in the first round is protect its home court. Lately, thats been a problem. "My thing is that three of the last four times weve played these guys (in Indy), they built 20-point leads and beat us pretty good," Vogel said. "So I dont think anyone from this team can thinnk were going to be OK just because were back home. Cheap Spurs Jerseys. ." The eighth-seeded Hawks understand. They had a chance to wrap up the best-of-seven series at home and rallied from a nine-point deficit in the third quarter to take a five-point lead late in the fourth. Yet they still lost. "Weve responded well all year when weve been in difficult situations," coach Mike Budenholzer said Friday. "Part of our response is going to have to be better execution. I think we have a lot of positive reference points from all year. Our group has been very good and very resilient. I have a lot of confidence in our group." But this is going to be different. The Pacers, who spent all season chasing the Eastern Conferences top seed, expect a raucous crowd for the first Game 7 to be played at home in the franchises NBA history. Plus, they appeared to find a defensive solution to Atlantas spread offence by going small in Game 6. The Hawks, meanwhile, have only a day to adjust to Vogels new rotations and are on their own historic quest. A win Saturday would give Atlanta the distinction of having the fewest regular-season wins (3 of any second-round team since Detroits 36-win team beat Milwaukee in the first round of the 1976 playoffs, according to STATS. "Weve won on that floor before, so we know we can do it," Teague said. "We just have to go out there and do what we do and play our style of basketball, and it will take care of itself." George has plenty of motivation after a stressful week that included ceding home-court advantage for the second time in the series, losing his 2014 All-Star ring in a burglary that took place while he was playing Game 5, two elimination games and speculation that his 24th birthday celebration might be marred by the announcement of a one-game suspension. The next 48 hours may be significant to determining if the Canadian Football Leagues 2014 training camp, and possibly regular season, starts on schedule, as executives and legal counsel for the league and the Canadian Football League Players Union are set to meet in Toronto Thursday and Friday for critical talks to finally find common ground on a new collective bargaining agreement. Cheap Rangers Jerseys . With the two sides making little progress over the last six months, however, it appears the players union is prepared for another deadlock. "The (PAs strike) ballots are ready to be mailed out," said a source with knowledge of the negotiations, but who spoke on conditions of anonymity. Sources have told TSN that the CFLPA has steadily prepared for the possibility of a strike vote for weeks, by accumulating addresses of its members, and reviewing labour laws in provinces with CFL teams. "This is not a negotiation tactic - this is something the players feel they need to explore if no progress is made Thursday and Friday," the source said. The CFLs current CBA ends May 29. Talks between the league and players are poised on a tipping point because neither side can agree on functional revenue-sharing model. When the two sides met previously in Toronto weeks ago, talks eventually began leaning towards general discussion of revenue-sharing possibilities. League representatives said they would review the developments, only to return later insisting that discussions on any revenue-sharing model could go no further. The CFL apparently has a counter-proposal prepared for the players - different from the reported $100,000 yearly salary cap increase over the life of a new eight-year CBA - but will not reveal the new bottom line unless the players abandon any revenue-sharing model. Apart the disagreement on the feasibility of any revenue-sharing models, previous talks have stalled over the issue of financial transparency: The players have requested the CFL reveal all its numbers, but the league has remained reluctant. "If the owners are anticipating more money and more deals over the course of a new CBA then the players would like to know what exactly (the owners) are anticipating," the source explained. If talks hit an impasse again by the weekend, the union will prepare its members for a strike vote. Some provinces in Canada, Quebec in particular, require strike votes take place after a CBA expires. Nevertheless, the union will encourage its members, regardless of particular labour laws, to stay off the field." "Its going to be tough to prepare for a season, unless one team is prepared to play against itself," the source added. Cheap Texas Rangers Jerseys . MONTREAL -- A day before heading to Florida to continue training camp, the Montreal Impact picked up a new captain and a new striker. Veteran midfielder Patrice Bernier will be a popular choice to replace the departed Davy Arnaud as captain, not only because he is a local player and fluently bilingual. "Hes always very positive in his attitude around the team," sporting director Nick De Santis said Thursday. "And even in difficult times, you never see the pressure get to him. These are important things." And Santiago Gonzalez, a 21-year-old forward from the Sud America club in Uruguay, who was signed under Major League Soccers special discovery rule, could be a nice addition to a club that is thin up front. The Impact ended their first phase of camp indoors at Marie Victorin College and now move onto grass fields and warm weather in Orlando, Fla., to defend their title in the Disney Pro Soccer Classic, a pre-season tournament. Bernier, of Brossard, Que., was hoping to get the captains armband after Arnaud, their skipper for their first two MLS seasons who left for D.C. United. New coach Frank Klopas picked veterans Marco Di Vaio, Matteo Ferrari and Troy Perkins as Berniers assistants. The 34-year-old Bernier began his pro career with the Impact, then played nine seasons in Europe before returning for the clubs MLS expansion season in 2012. "Its another step in my career and a new challenge in terms of my personality and what I have to do, not just on the field, but how to interact with my teammates," said Bernier "I started off here and hopefully I end here. Now, to have the armband, its a great show of respect." Luring Bernier back from Europe was one of the Impacts most important moves while moving from the second tier NASL to MLS. It gave them a high quality midfielder who understood North American soccer but who could also relate to the many European, especially Italian, players the club brought in. Bernier has 13 goals and 16 assists in 58 games over the last two seasons. He was named the Impacts player of the year in 2012 and played in the MLS all-star game last season. Arnaud arrived with the experience and credentials to make him the logical pick as the teaams first MLS captain, and Bernier was the obvious pick to succeed him. Wholesale Rangers Jerseys. Even while Arnaud wore the armband, Bernier was the teams most visible player in the media and out in the community. "Maybe now Ill be looked upon as the reflection of the team in what I say and what I do," he said. "Ill be the same guy as before, but maybe you have to stand out. "Its something special. In soccer, the captain is the first one to step onto the field, the first one that people see, that the referees go to for explanations or rectifications or whatever. So I cant just think of my own bubble anymore." Star striker Di Vaio had a little fun when asked about Bernier as captain. "I dont agree. I wanted to be captain," he said, before smiling and adding "No. Its good for us and its good for Patrice. Its the best thing for the team. We know that Patrice is going to be a good captain for us, for the club and for the fans." Bernier has been unable to join his teammates on the field since the first day of camp as he heals from surgery on Dec. 11 to fix loose cartilage in his right knee. He expects to resume full training in Florida. Also on the pitch in Orlando will be Gonzalez, who was in Montreal and was to make the flight with a team after undergoing a medical exam. De Santis said that as a special discovery player, the club can amortize the five-foot-eight forwards costs over several years, so that his salary cap hit stays between $125,000 and $150,000. He is also not a designated player, which leaves one DP spot open for a future signing. Di Vaio and Argentine midfielder Hernan Bernardello are the teams DPs. "Hes going to bring a new dynamic to the team," said De Santis. "Theres a question of adaptation because its the first time he leaves his country to play professional soccer, so we need to be patient with him. But hes got a lot for good qualities." De Santis also denied reports from Italy that Pablo Piatti of Valencia and Stefano Mauri of Lazio would be joining the Impact, saying hes had no contact with either club. He said he may still sign another player "if we can add an important piece to get you to the next level." (SportsNetwork. Cheap Cardinals Jerseys Authentic .com) - The Toronto Maple Leafs continue their tour of the Metropolitan Division on Saturday as they host a Philadelphia Flyers team rolling in the right direction at Air Canada Centre. Tyler Bozak was the hero versus the Rangers, scoring on a penalty shot in the second period before netting the game-winner with 3:09 left in overtime. He took a blind backhand feed from Phil Kessel behind the net and elevated the disc over Henrik Lundqvist from the doorstep to send the Leafs to their first victory since the Olympic break. Toronto had lost three in a row coming in, two of those in overtime. Nazem Kadri netted Torontos other goal, while Jonathan Bernier registered 35 saves for the Leafs. "It doesnt feel so good right now, because youre frustrated with how it went, but tomorrow in the standings it will show two points and then we move on," Toronto head coach Randy Carlyle said of his team giving up a two-goal lead only to win in overtime. Bernier could face the Flyers tonight and has split two previous encounters while posting a 4.51 GAA. The Maple Leafs have won three of their past four versus the Flyers, including a 3-1 victory in Philadelphia on Oct. 2 in the first of three meetings this season. However, the Flyers have won six of their last seven trips to Toronto. Philadelphia has potted 15 goals over its past three games and has won seven of its last eight. That has the Flyers even with the New York Rangers for second place in the Metropolitan Division. Philadelphia has one game in hand over the Blueshirts and will use it on Saturday when the Rangers are idle. Giroux has led the charge, posting 10 goals and 20 points over his last 13 games. That includes back-to-back three-point efforts in a home-and-home sweep of the Washington Capitals. The Flyers captain notched two goals and an assist in each contest, helping Philadelphia rally for a 5-4 overtime victory in Washington last Sunday before holding on for a 6-4 win at home on Wednesday. "Theyre attacking. Theyre skating with speed and making plays; theyre working hard, working down low hard, cycling the puck, competing, power play. Theyre doing a good job," said Flyers coach Craig Berube of Girouxs line that includes Jakub Voracek and Scott Hartnell. Voracek also scored twice on Wednesdays win that saw the Flyers jump out to a 4-0 lead before they allowed the Capitals to twice get within a goal. Philadelphia yielded three power-play goals. Michael Raffl and Steve Downie also scored for the Flyers and Steve Mason came up with 21 saves. "We got the win, but at the end of the day weve got to make sure that when weve got a lead like that, weve got to be able to keep it," said Giroux. Mason is 2-3-0 with a 3.99 goals against average in five previous meetings with the Maple Leafs, who sit third in the Atlantic Division with 74 points. They moved one point ahead of Tampa Bay with Wednesdays 3-2 overtime victory against the New York Rangers, and trail second-place Montreal by three points. Tiger Woods didnt come close to claiming either Thursday in the Farmers Insurance Open, where the seven-time champion failed to break par in the opening round for first time in his career.WINDSOR STATION, N.S. -- He may have stumbled in the second round of the Nova Scotia Open with a two-over 73. He may have finished his day with a sloppy bogey and there may be a hurricane bearing down on Ashburn Golf Club which will mean a long day of waiting around on Saturday, but none of it could dampen the enthusiasm Adam Hadwin has been showing this week. The resident of Abbotsford, B.C., slipped back on Friday but was still smiling in a post-round chat on Friday. Hadwin, who opened with a 66 on Thursday, was slow from the gate the second time around the course. "It was just one of those days," said Hadwin. "(Thursday) everything seemed to go right. I missed it in the right places, got up and down when I needed to, made a few putts. Today was the complete opposite. I didnt hit it very well starting out." The third-year Web.com Tour player made a double on the par-3 fifth hole after hitting a shank. Yup, a shank. He bogeyed the next par-3, the eighth, before righting the ship on the back side with birdies on the 10th and 12th. There were many more opportunities over the final six holes, but nothing dropped on the exceptionally difficult greens, which are starting to cause frustration among the field. "You take a look at the last hole, I had a four-footer for par and Im lagging it," said Hadwin. "I had a putt on 14 that I had to lag from 15 feet. I had 15 feet and had to play four or five feet of break. The greens are very difficult if you get out of position and I was perfectly in position yesterday and I wasnt today." The sour ending came when he just missed a 10-footer on the 17th for a birdie and then lipped out a four-footer on the 18th for a finishing bogey. In the past, that type of conclusion to the day may have kept Hadwin steaming for some time. But as a sign of how far hes grown as a professional, he was positively chipper as he walked off the course, smiling to his fans and acknowledging the applause. "I used to have troubles putting bad shots behind me," he admitted. "They would stick with me for a little bit and thats something that I worked really hard to improve on and to get better at, and know thats going to help make me a better player." There are many who expected hed already be that better player by now, already be on the PGA Tour. Those expectations were fueled in large part by his RBC Canadian Open performance in 2010, when he finished as low Canuck, and then again in 2011 when he came within a couple of shots of winning the Open outright in front of hometown fans in Vancouver. But, not surprisingly, Hadwin couldnt keep up the meteoric rise and has found himself trying to re-set his game and his career, admitting that he probably hadnt worked hard enough. At the start of this year, he decided to re-dedicate himself, taking a more professional approach to everything he did. Blessed with immense natural talent, hee realized that alone wouldnt be enough to get him to his goal of the PGA Tour. Cheap MLB Jerseys. He wanted to work hard every week and be prepared as best he could when he stepped on the first tee on Thursday. "That sort of continued from the end of last year," Hadwin said. "I thought I did a much better job of knowing the golf course, knowing where to miss and all that. Im still getting better, its still something I can improve on but Im giving it my best shot, trying to understand the golf course. . . when to be aggressive, when not to be aggressive. Obviously Im playing a lot better this year than I have in past years so it must be working." You can make a good argument that Hadwin is the most popular Canadian golfer not playing the PGA Tour. His personality is positively effervescent and he is a marketers dream, smiling and engaging fans non-stop (just this week, he inked a new sponsorship deal with Shaw). He had the largest contingent of Haligonians on Friday, who followed him around and cheered his strong play. "It is noticeable for sure," Hadwin admitted. "It is a good feeling to know you have support. On Twitter and Facebook and all those social media outlets, to hear the words of encouragement and support even when Im not playing well, (its good to know) people are supporting me. Its nice and it makes getting over rounds like this easier." Of course his improved play this season doesnt hurt either. Hadwin notched a win earlier this year in Chile and has three other top-10 finishes to sit sixth on the Web.com Tour money list with just over $200,000. He is all but guaranteed of advancing to the PGA Tour next year by finishing inside the top 25. And he admits that there have been times when hes allowed his mind to wander and think about joining the big leagues. "Ive thought about it a few times," Hadwin said, "but at the same time including playoffs I think we have 10 events, 11 events left in the year. So theres lots of events left, lots of money to be made. When you get to the golf course and get into that competition mode its All right whats my next shot? How can I hit the best shot possible? Everything future-wise kind of goes out the window and youre just focused on getting the ball in the hole in the fewest shots possible." But when hes off the course, with time on his hands, say, riding out a long weather delay, it can be a little different. "When youre sitting through Hurricane Arthur in your hotel room with nothing to do, you might start to think Greenbrier looks pretty good right now," he chuckled. Ah yes, Arthur. The hurricane is on a collision course with Halifax and organizers have already announced that there will be no play until noon on Saturday at the earliest. Judging by the forecast, that might be optimistic. For Hadwin, however, hurricane or not, hell be ready to go whenever he next tees off. The best round belonged to Pat Perez. INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts needed a linebacker. Cheap Soccer Jerseys . DQwell Jackson just wanted to play for a winner. On Thursday, everybody got their wish. Jackson, who spent his entire career with Cleveland until being released last week, signed a four-year, $22 million contract to play with Indianapolis. "It wasnt a financial decision, it was a decision to be around a good group of guys first and foremost and the chance to get to a Super Bowl," Jackson said. "It wasnt about money." A chance to learn from one of the best pass-rushing linebackers in football made the decision easy, too. The 6-foot, 240-pound, eight-year veteran who had watched Robert Mathis for years will now be paired with the perennial Pro Bowler, who set a franchise single season record with 19 1/2 sacks and won his first league sacks title in 2013 at the age of 32. Jackson has been productive since Cleveland drafted took him in the second round of the 2006 draft. He started 96 games, had 891 career tackles, 11 1/2 sacks, eight interceptions, seven fumble recoveries and one touchdown. Last season, at age 30, he still led the Browns in tackles (143), posting his sixth 100-tackle season. He also had 1 1/2 sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. But hes hoping Mathis can teach him something else. "I want to know how he found the youth somewhere. Im excited to pick his brain. Ive watched him throughout his glory days and hes still having his glory days," Jackson said. "Ive just got a good feeling in this situation." Hes not the only one excited about the move, which comes five days before the full free-agent market opens. "The Colts defence needs new members to turn up the bluheat.....maybe we should take a ride down 5200 Jackson Street," Mathis wrote Wednesday on Twitter, before the official announcement was made. It didnt take long for Jackson to figure out this would be a good match. He visited Tennessee, Denver and Miami before signing with the Colts, who guaranteed him $11 million in the deal. In Indy, he is reunited with running back Trent Richardson and new Colts assistant Rob Chudzinski. A year ago, Jackson and Richardson were projected to be starters under Chudzinski, then the Browns first-year head coach. Richardson was traded to the Colts in September for a first-round draft pick. Chudzinski was hired as a special assistant to coach Chuck Pagano last month. Jackson now gets a chance to play for a team coming off two straight playoff appearances and with an organization that has reached the post-season in 11 of the last 12 seasons. After reaching the divisional round last season, Paganos second in Indy, the Colts are hoping Jackson can help them take an even bigger step. "The tempo, energy and determination he plays with are right up there with the best in this league," Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said in a statement released by the team. "He brings a welcomed element of experience and natural leadership to our team." With roughly $42 million to spend in free agency, the Colts were expected to continue improving the defence. At times last season, the Colts defence played well. At others, it really struggled. Adding Jackson may not give Indy the big pass-rushing presence to complement Mathis, but it should help shore up a position where four players could leave in free agency -- Pat Angerer, Kavell Conner, Scott Lutrus and Lawrence Sidbury. Angerer, Lutrus and Sidbury all finished last season on injured reserve. But Jackson came to Indy for one reason: To win. "The last few years this team has been productive and the success has been building for years," Jackson said, acknowledging he was willing to restructure his contract in Cleveland and left with no ill feelings toward his former team. "But this is a business. It didnt work out and I have a ton of respect for what theyre doing in Cleveland, but now Im an Indianapolis Colt." Cheap Barcelona Jerseys Authentic . Whats the craziest product youve ever come across with your face on it?TYSON: Ah man, I dont even know, Ive seen my face put on a dog, put on some animals, put on some Tyrannosaurus Rex BD: A T-Rex??TYSON: Yeah, yeah, I get put on some pretty interesting stuff.BD: With you being one of the greatest boxers of all-time, your physical dominance has been referenced in quite a few rap songs. Biggies Victory , Nas Aint hard to tell, Jay Z listing of the the 3 Michaels and of course Fresh Prince and Jazzy Jeffs "I think I can beat Mike Tyson". Out of the references that youve heard, which one has been your favourite?TYSON: Remember that beat it up video? What was his name again, Mingo? Migos? Some awesome stuff. Beat it up with the left, beat it up with the right, beat up like Mike.BD: Is that one of your favourite ones, out of what youve heard?TYSON: No, Lil Wayne did an interesting song, I like that song…American Dream. Im always flattered and stuff. Sometimes I wish theyd rap about something more political.BD: A few traits that hockey players are known for is their grit and toughness. Which one of these pictured players would you least want to fight just based on the pictures alone?TYSON: Well listen alright, even though hes 69 I dont see him fighting, this is probably the least guy, cause I see him in action (Ray), so hes probably the least guy, these other guys, theyre just looking tough, this guys in the process of beating someone up.BD: (laughs) Yeah hes just tearing that jersey off.TYSON: (laughs) yeah, and he looks like hes beating up this guy! (Parros). Q: (laughs) Nah, just the same team, Montreal. TYSON: (laugh) yeah, same team, same team. BD: As youre definitely well aware, the Simpsons made a parody character around you named "Drederick Tatum." Have you ever watched the whole episode featuring Homer taking on Tatum? TYSON: Well, no. But Ive seen it before, the episode with me and hes talking with my lisp. BD: (laughs) how did you find their depiction of you?TYSON: (smiles) Man, I thought it was pretty cool, pretty cool. BD: Without the assistance of an EA Sports Fight Night game well never really get to see you take on some of the other greatest heavyweight fighters of all time, but if you could face any boxer in history duringg their prime, and of course youre in your prime as well, who would you chose? TYSON: Nobody, Ive fought everybody I need to fight. Cheap Barcelona Jerseys. . BD: Obviously you were featured in both Punch Out and the Fight Night series. Do you ever play those games much? TYSON: (smiles) Nah, only if I do a show, sometime they have it and they let me play, and I always lose, suck at it. (skip to 8:12 for Tyson boss battle)BD: Did you know that former Ottawa Senators goalie Ray Emery had you featured on his mask?TYSON: Woah! Wow! Thats great. BD: If you were a goalie, who would you feature on your mask? (Shows picture) TYSON: Me? If I had a goalie mask. Id probably have Alexander the great. BD: Yeah I guess thats the same reasoning with Emerys, a display of strength. TYSON: See I dont look at myself with the same eyes that other people look at me with, I just dont look at it the same. Thats why I get overwhelmed that people would do something like that. You know? I just dont look at myself like that, I know my flaws, I know Im frightening kids sometimes still. But it doesnt project that way, because Im frightening to kids, I always view the image that Im not because I am. BD: And for our final question, have you ever gone BarDown?TYSON: (laughs) Whats that? BD: So if youre scoring a goal in hockey, or soccer, and have the shot bounce off the crossbar and down into the net. TYSON: Ive never done that. But I was a goalie before, and I had the pads and stuff on, and it was just so exhausting, I had to just stay on the floor, sit down on the floor, it was just so hard. It was hard to even skate. BD: (laughs) Oh yeah, it can be tough! TYSON: You know Jeremy Roenick? So one day he said something like, so you think you can beat Mike Tyson? And he said I can beat Mike Tyson on skates, but hell probably beat me off skates, and my arrogance, I said "you cant even beat me on skates!" Then I tried it, then I was like, woah, he would kick my ass on skates! He wouldve killed me, woah, ah man, I was just so exhausted after a minute. BD: (laughs) Its tough, nah it is, and you feel it afterward, as well. TYSON: Aw man, its tough, its tough.Mike Tyson will be performing his one man show, "the Undisputed Truth", Wednesday night at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Matt Adams emerged from his deep slump and saved the St. Cheap Packers Jerseys Authentic . Louis Cardinals from another costly loss. Adams broke an 0-for-17 slump and hit a pair of homers in extra innings on Wednesday night, the last one in the 16th for a 5-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds that protected the Cardinals hold on second place in the NL Central. Nice timing. "My rhythms been off a little bit, and that was causing me to chase pitches, but I felt pretty good tonight," Adams said. So did the rest of the Cardinals, who piled out of the dugout triumphantly after finally pulling it out in 4 hours, 50 minutes. The 16-inning game matched their longest of the season. And it was so much better than being on the other side. The Reds longest game of the season ended in one of their greatest disappointments. "For sure," Reds starter Bronson Arroyo said. "Definitely. When you play that many innings and have a couple of runners in scoring position ..." The Cardinals had dropped the first two games in the series, letting the Reds get within a game and a half for second place. They conclude their season series on Thursday. St. Louis leads it 11-8. Carlos Martinez (2-1) escaped a threat in the 15th, when Shin-Soo Choo singled and reached third on a sacrifice and a groundout. Chris Heisey came to bat and saw Matt Carpenter playing back at third base, so he decided on his own to try to bunt for a single. Heisey missed the pitch, Choo reacted and took off and was easily out at the plate. "Youre not going to try a safety bunt with two outs," manager Dusty Baker said. "Heisey thought the third baseman was back, he was bunting for a hit. Choo was going to try to score." Cincinnatis three, four and five hitters -- Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Heisey -- were a combined 0 for 19. Given the reprieve, the Cardinals pulled it out. Theyve dropped five of seven overall, costing them precious ground in the divisions three-team race. The Pirates, Cardinals and Reds are all in good shape to make the playoffs -- one as a champion, the other two as wild cards. "That was just a character win," manager Mike Matheny said. "The guys just kept grinding, not giving up or giving in. The job the young bullpen did holding them down was impressive. Thats one of those wins you dont forget." St. Louis wasted a chance to put it away in the 14th inning. Adams broke his deep slump by leading off with homer off Alfredo Simon. Speedy Billy Hamilton helped the Reds tie it with another stolen base in the bottom of the inning. Hamilton ran for Ryan Ludwick after his single off Edward Mujica, who blew a save chance for only the third time in 38 chances. Hamilton stole second -- hes 2 for 2 against catcher Yadier Molina -- and scored easily on Zack Cozarts single. Carpenter had three hits and a walk, scoring twice. Carpenter has five of the Cardinals 14 hits in the last two games. Arroyo broke with his history of subpar showings against the Cardinals. It was his 38th career start against St. Louis -- more than against any other team -- and he didnt have a lot to show for it, going 0-3 against the Cardinals this season and 8-16 in his career. He went seven innings and allowed three runs -- two earned -- giving the Reds chances that they squandered. St. Louis scored twice in the fourth, when Matt Holliday hit a sacrifice fly and Carlos Beltran came around on a throwing error by Votto on Allen Craigs grounder. Craig sprained his left foot while rounding the base on the play and left the game. X-rays were inconclusive. Hes heading back to St. Louis for more tests. "Any time youre sending Allen Craig away its not good news," Matheny said. Brandon Phillips led off the fifth with his 18th homer, giving him 100 RBIs. Hes the first Reds second baseman to reach the mark since Hall of Famer Joe Morgan drove in 111 in 1976, when the Reds swept the Yankees for their second straight World Series championship. Notes: RH Jake Westbrook felt good a day after he threw in the bullpen. Westbrook has been sidelined since Aug. 22 with a strained lower back. Hes eligible to come off the DL on Friday. Matheny isnt sure whether hell use him as a starter -- as Westbrook prefers -- or out of the bullpen when he returns. ... Carpenter leads the NL with 169 hits and 15 three-hit games. ... Arroyo tied a Reds record with three sacrifice bunts. ... LH Tony Cingrani (6-3) starts the final game of the series for Cincinnati. He went on the DL after leaving a game Aug. 20 with a strained lower back. RH Lance Lynn (13-9) starts for St. Louis. Hes 3-0 in four starts against the Reds this season. Wholesale Packers Jerseys . SEOUL, South Korea -- South Korea football coach Hong Myung-bo resigned Thursday as he took responsibility for his teams disappointing performance at the World Cup in Brazil. Hong has faced mounting criticism after South Korea was eliminated from the World Cup by finishing last in the four-team Group H. South Korea was defeated 1-0 by Belgium, 4-2 by Algeria and a drew 1-1 with Russia. Hong told a televised news conference that he feels "deeply sorry" for the results. "We talked about giving hopes to our people. But we eventually failed to give hopes and only gave disappointment," Hong said. "Im leaving from the post today." Hong ssaid he first thought about quitting after his teams loss to Algeria. Cheap Aaron Rodgers Jersey. SAITAMA, Japan - Canadas Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford had a season-best score in the pairs short program Wednesday to sit in second place at the ISU world figure skating championships. Cheap Bruce Gaston Jersey . Duhamel, from Lively, Ont., and Radford, from Balmertown, Ont., were second with 77.01 points, just behind Olympic bronze medallists Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy of Germany. The four-time world champs lead at 79.02 and Sochi silver medallists Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov of Russia were third with 76.15 points. "It was amazing," said Radford, who won world bronze last year with Duhamel. "We wish we could skate like that all the time. Most of this season, we tried so hard to please everyone and fight for every point. Today we were a lot more relaxed and its put us in a perfect spot heading into the free skate." Less than eight points separate the top five pairs. At the Games, Duhamel and Radford helped Canada to the silver medal in the team event and were seventh in pairs. "We came back from the Olympics feeling like we had achieved all our goals," said Duhamel. "We feel very settled but from this point on were going to be competing for ourselves and not worry about every little point." Tatsuki Machida of Japan upstaged compatriot and Olympic gold medallist Yuzuru Hanyu on Wednesday to finish first in the mens short program. Machida, who was fifth at last months Sochi Games, hit all his jumps and scored a career-high 98.21 points to finish ahead of Javier Fernandez of Spain, who had 96.42 points. Three-time world champion Patrick Chan of Toronto is skipping the championships. The mens event concludes with the free skate on Friday. Skating to music from the movie "East of Eden," Machida electrified the capacity crowd of 18,000 at Saitama Super Arena with a near-flawless routine that opened with a quad toe loop, triple toe loop combination. The 24-year-old Machida also included a triple Axel and a triple Lutz in his routine. "I got motivated when I saw Hanyu win the gold in Sochi," Machida said. "I think this is the best chance Ill have to get a medal and will do my best in the free skate. I was able to get a lot of positive energy from the crowd tonight." Hanyu fell on the opening quad toe loop and finished with 91.24 points for third place. "Needless to say the toe loop wasnt good," Hanyu said. "But how I jumped wasnt that bad so I am going to adjust for the free program." Fernandez, who was fourth in Sochi, impressed the judges with a dynamic routine and got high marks for a triple Lutz, triple toe loop combination. "One skater did better than me but I am still happy with my performance," Fernandez said. "Sometimes its hard to get motivated right after the Olympics by my coaches told me to work hard and I can see that hard works pays off." Tomas Verner of the Czech Republic was fourth, followed by Han Yan of China. Kevin Reynolds of Coquitlam, B.C., was 15th, world junior champion Nam Nguyen of Toronto was 16th and Elladj Balde of Pierrefonds, Que., was 22nd. Kirsten Moore-Towers of St. Catharines, Ont., and Dylan Moscovitch of Toronto were sixth in the pairs while Paige Lawrence of Kennedy, Sask., and Rudi Swiegers of Kipling, Sask., were 12th. In Sochi, Moore-Towers and Moscovitch contributed to Canadas team silver and were fifth in the pairs. "It was nice to skate the program clean one last time. All those run-throughs paid off," Moore-Towers said. "I felt great, calm and confident," added Moscovitch. "The skate felt good. Our goal is to skate to clean programs and we are halfway there." The pairs event concludes Thursday with the free skate. "I think youll find there is an easier sense of flow throughout the program," Radford said. "Weve just made some little adjustments to free up the program and when weve been skating it in practice, it feels lighter and smoother and it feels easier for us to just let it go and enjoy the moment." The womens short program is also scheduled for Thursday. ——— With files from The Associated Press. The 29-year-old from Port Colborne, Ont., who trains out of San Diego, will fight bantamweight champion (Rowdy) Ronda Rousey on July 5 in the co-main event of UFC 175 in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White announced the matchup Friday night via Twitter. Davis responded via the same medium. "Somebody pinch me because I think Im still dreaming!! Lol. Christmas is coming July 5th in Vegas," she tweeted. Rousey (9-0) is the face of womens mixed martial arts and arguably the UFCs current biggest star. It will mark the 27-year-old Rouseys fourth title defence. She has already disposed of Liz (Girlrilla) Carmouche, Miesha (Cupcake) Tate and Sara McMann. Twenty-nine years ago yesterday, 39 supporters who had set off for a football match in Brussels, Belgium would not return home to their loved ones. Cheap Adidas NMD 2018 . I remember it vividly. A Wednesday evening, home in London watching the TV with huge anticipation for the annual showpiece event of the Euro soccer calendar - the 1985 European Cup Final between Liverpool and Juventus. The 1984 Italian Champions team included Paolo Rossi, the striker who singlehandedly slayed the might of Brazil when scoring a hat trick against them in the quarterfinals of the 1982 World Cup. Rossi wasnt even the star player. That was Michel Platini, the current UEFA President. Italys Brazil 2014 manager, Cesare Prandelli was on the bench. The 39 innocent supporters were killed in cold blood as they attempted to flee from the onslaught of hooliganism initiated by so called fans of Liverpool. It occurred on the terrace behind the goal where Juventus supporters were in the majority. A wall which prevented the Juventus supporters from escaping collapsed with devastating consequences an hour before the game had been scheduled to kick off. Thirty-eight died instantly, a 39th victim succumbing in hospital three months later. Thirty-two were Italians, four Belgian and two French nationals, even a supporter from Northern Ireland. Reports at the time stated over 600 fans were treated for injuries they suffered. The victims came from a whole cross section of society. Included a couple of mailmen, a pair of chefs, three doctors, several students and store workers, a car mechanic, a soldier, a school boy, a farmer, a fashion photographer , a construction worker, a taxi driver and a school janitor. The youngest of whom was only 11-years old. The Heysel Tragedy. One of soccers darkest moments. In the aftermath, UEFA deemed it acceptable for the match to go ahead. Their reasoning concluded it was in the public safety to do so. Cancelling the match they believed would have led to further mayhem. For the record, courtesy of a second half Michel Platini penalty, Juventus won its first European title. The subsequent investigation into the Heysel Tragedy brought no comfort to the grieving families. The stadium was ill equipped to deal with such an occasion. In the weeks leading up to the final Juventus and Liverpool complained to UEFA, stating their concerns for the stadium. Crumbling infrastructure, inadequate policing and security were key factors in preventing such a tragedy. All that separated the Liverpool and Juventus supporters on that fateful terrace was a chicken wire. Criminal charges were made. Convictions for involuntary manslaughter were bought against 14 Liverpool fans in a court case that took over four-years to bring. They served very little jail time. Civil charges against those resulted in a scant award of $7 million to the victims families. The Belgian Football Union was put in the dock too. The BFUs most senior official given a suspended prison sentence for "Regrettable Negligence." UEFA itself was not immune - their president and another senior official receiving conditional discharges. Two days after the tragedy and under severe pressure from Margaret Thatchers government, the English Football Association announced it was banning its clubs from playing in Europe. Within a week, UEFA announced that with immediate effect they were banning English clubs indefinitely. It would be five years before they would be permitted to enter European competitions. Additionally Liverpool were banned for a further three-years but 12 months later that ban was lifted. In a highly moving pre-match ceremony on the pitch before their April 27th match against Chelsea, Liverpool recognized the 25th Anniversary of Hillsborough. Brendan Rodgers led the tributes. Yesterday the club placed a floral tribute beneath the Heysel Memorial Plaque which adorns the Centenary Stand at Anfield. Juventus marked the anniversary late last month in a ceremony at their memorial site for the victims. Yesterday a poignant statement was posted on the clubs website - Heysel, the Day of Silence. Hillsborough has always remained in the public consciousness. Heysel however has not. Look at UEFAs website today and you wouldnt even know such an inhumane tragedy occurred at their showpiece club event. If anything positive came out of Heysel, it was that it signified the beginning of the end of wide scale rioting and hooliganism that had wrought havoc across the English game in the preceding decade. That is not to suggest that today the so termed "English Disease" has been completely eradicated. As millions of supporters begin gathering in the 12 host cities staging this summers World Cup, they do so against a backdrop which includes construction worker fatalities and anti-World Cup protests similar to those which occurred at last summers Confederations Cup where an estimated 1,000,000 Brazilians took to the streets. Come July 13th when the world gathers around its TV sets for the World Cup Final let us hope during these upcoming weeks the world doesnt lay witness to 1 more death in the `name of football. A team with loads of forward depth, the Philadelphia Flyers have fantasy options ranging from proven veterans to rising stars and if you are in a league that rewards penalty minutes, they have some of those too. Wholesale Packers Jerseys . Top Picks: Over the last three seasons, C Claude Giroux has put up 216 points, the fourth-best total in the league. Even with an offseason finger injury, Giroux is a good bet to be among the top scorers in the league, making him a No. 1 centre option for fantasy owners. RW Jakub Voracek had a breakout season in 2013, scoring 46 points in 48 games, and while hes not likely to score on 17.1% of his shots like he did last season, paired with Giroux on the Flyers top line, Voracek is going to have significant value, enough to fit as a No. 2 fantasy right winger. Offering similar value, though he doesnt score as much, Wayne Simmonds adds a physical dimension, with hits and penalty minutes supporting his increased scoring numbers over the last couple seasons in Philadelphia. Value Plays: There hasnt been any great decline in production for C Vincent Lecavalier, who has scored between 0.77 and 0.87 points per game in each of the last five seasons, but injuries have started to have an effect on how often he plays, as hes missed 44 games over the past three seasons. Still, hes going to have solid linemates as the Flyers second-line centre and has value as a No. 3 fantasy pivot, even with injury expectations. Prior to last season, LW Scott Hartnell was a bit of a fantasy darling, particularly for leagues that count penalty minutes, as he has scored 20 or more goals six times and recorded 100 or more penalty minutes eight times in his career. The normally durable winger had injuries and finished with just 12 points in 32 games, but that brings his value back to a more reasonable level. Though RW Matt Read doesnt necessarily have the highest upside, he does have 71 points in 121 games over the last two seasons and he plays 18 minutes a game for the Flyers. His versatility allows him to move from line to line, but if Read is going to have sustainable value, hell need to secure a regular spot in the top six. Brought in to upgrade the Flyers puck-moving skills on the blueline, D Mark Streit has been a productive point producer, but he comes with some concerns, notably that hes minus-41 in the last two seasons and is going to turn 36 midway through this season, so its likely that his performance is due to decline. Streits arrival takes some pressure off Kimmo Timonen, a 38-year-old who has been durable, consistent and productive throughout his career. Both Streit and Timonen can provide value if they are selected as No. 3 fantasy defencemen. Sleepers/Breakthrough: Part of the challenge facing C Sean Couturier is that hes such a good defensive player that he doesnt necessarily get the linemates or opportunity take advantage of his offensive skills, but the Flyers are deep enough that Couturier, as the third-line centre, could be quite productive. He didnt score much last season, with a low 5.3% shooting percentage, but hes a 20-year-old who has 192 points in 126 games in last two junior seasons and tallied 28 points in 31 AHL games last year. LW Brayden Schenn has been coming along slowly since he was the fifth overall pick in 2009, but scored a career-high 26 points (in 47 games) last season and figures to get a shot on Lecavaliers left wing to open the season, a decent spot for 22-year-old Schenn to build his offensive numbers. Braydens brother, D Luke Schenn, hasnt scored more than 22 points in a season, yet has value in leagues that count hits and blocked shots because he has 881 and 501, respectively in the last four seasons. The goaltending situation basically leaves the Flyers with two sleepers. Ray Emery should have the edge, but hes played more than 40 games only once in his entire career. Steve Mason, on the other hand, has played plenty but, among the 26 goaltenders to play at least 200 games since 2008-2009, Masons .905 save percentage is the worst. Rookies: The Flyers dont have a lineup with great openings for rookies, but C Scott Laughton started last year with Philadelphia for five games before returning to the Ontario Hockey League, where he had 56 points in 49 games for Oshawa. Hes a gritty, physical player, but not likely to have fantasy relevance. Scott Cullen can be reached at Scott.Cullen@bellmedia.ca and followed on Twitter at http://twitter.com/tsnscottcullen.
