HOUSTON - The Houston Texans are nearing a deal to trade quarterback Matt Schaub to the Oakland Raiders, two people familiar with the negotiations said Friday. Chris Ivory Youth Jersey . The people spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the deal was not yet complete. Schaub must still pass a physical in order to finalize the trade. ESPN first reported the trade and said the Raiders would give up a late-round pick in this years draft for Schaub. Schaub was Houstons starter from 2007 until last season, when he was benched in favour of Case Keenum after a terrible start to the year. The Texans were expected to contend for a Super Bowl last season, but instead became the NFLs worst team, sinking to 2-14, which tied the worst record in franchise history. It was clear after last season that Schaub didnt have a future in Houston, but his departure looked to be imminent on Thursday night when the Texans signed veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Houston also has the first overall pick in this years draft, which includes top quarterbacks Teddy Bridgewater, Blake Bortles and Johnny Manziel. The pending acquisition of Schaub is the latest attempt by general manager Reggie McKenzie to find a quarterback to lead the Raiders back into relevance after 11 straight years without a winning record or playoff berth. Since dumping Carson Palmer last spring, McKenzie traded a 2014 fifth-round pick for Matt Flynn before cutting him early last season; spent a fourth-rounder last year on Tyler Wilson before losing him off the practice squad to Tennessee; and signed Matt McGloin as an undrafted free agent. McGloin showed flashes in his six starts last season but is viewed more as a potential backup than a starter. The only other quarterbacks on Oaklands roster are Terrelle Pryor, whose running style does not fit what the coaching staff wants to do offensively, and veteran Trent Edwards, who was signed earlier this off-season. The move puts less pressure on Oakland to use a high draft pick on a quarterback in May. The Raiders pick fifth overall in the draft but could use that selection to fill another hole. With loads of salary cap room to start the league year, the Raiders have targeted veterans with only one of their acquisitions younger than 29. That appears to be part of an effort to turn the team around quickly. McKenzie and coach Dennis Allen oversaw back-to-back four-win seasons since arriving in Oakland and owner Mark Davis is running out of patience with this regime. They are hoping last year was an aberration for Schaub. While the Texans had plenty of problems, Schaubs poor play was perhaps the biggest. The Texans won their first two games before Schaub began to struggle and he threw six interceptions, three of which were returned for touchdowns in the next three games. He started the sixth game of the season and left with an injury before being replaced in the starting lineup by Keenum, an undrafted free agent who spent 2012 on the practice squad. Keenum was injured late in the season, forcing Houston to go back to Schaub for the last two games. He didnt fare any better than he had before he was benched and he threw four interceptions combined in the last two games as Houston wrapped up the season with a 14-game skid. The 32-year-old is a two-time Pro Bowler, who last made the game in 2012. He had been solid for the Texans since taking over the job after being traded from Atlanta in 2007, but his best seasons came in 2009 and 2012 when he started each game. In 2009, he led the NFL in yards passing (4,770), completions (396) and attempts (583) and was fifth in touchdown passes (29). In 2012, he threw for 4,008 yards with 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions to help Houston to its second straight AFC South title. He spent three seasons with the Falcons as Michael Vicks backup before joining the Texans, and has thrown for more than 24,000 yards with 130 touchdowns in his 10-year career. AP Sports Writer Josh Dubow contributed to this report Malik Jackson Jaguars Jersey . For one, he still gets to crank the intensity to the max. "I push pretty angry. I ran pretty angry too though, but I have fun doing it," Lumsden said. Louis Cardinals for the National League Wild Card, are in the drivers seat as they open the final series of the regular season, but they face a large task in the form of the Philadelphia Phillies.Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Make it a dozen touchdown passes in two games for Ben Roethlisberger. Its been a resurgence for his Pittsburgh Steelers offense since their lackluster Week 2 showing in Baltimore, when they didnt tally any. Roethlisberger tossed six touchdown passes and the Steelers routed the Ravens 43-23 on Sunday night. Roethlisbergers 12 touchdown passes in consecutive weeks is the most in NFL history. Big Ben went 40-of-49 for 522 yards -- the third most in a regulation game in NFL history -- and six touchdowns last Sunday, making him the first ever quarterback with two 500-plus yard games. He followed that performance up by going 25-of-37 for 340 yards. It was a big one for us, Roethlisberger said. We were slow starting but made plays down the stretch. Roethlisbergers 30-game stretch with a TD pass came to a halt in Week 2 when the Ravens thumped the Steelers 26-6. But that seems like centuries ago. Pittsburgh has scored 94 points in its last two games and topped the 50-point plateau for the first time since 1984 in last Sundays 51-34 victory over Indianapolis. Antonio Brown caught 11 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown, while rookie Martavis Bryant hauled in three receptions for 44 yards and two scores for the Steelers (6-3), who have won three in a row. Joe Flacco was 30-of-45 for 303 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for Baltimore (5-4), which has dropped consecutive games and sit in last place in the AFC North. The Steelers failed to pick up a first down on each of their first three drives, moved the chains a trio of times before being sacked three straight snaps on their fourth touch, but posted three consecutive touchdowns on their final three series of the opening half. A pair of Ravens turnovers on three snaps led to two of those scores in the middle stages of the second. Steelers linebacker Arthur Moats stripped Adam Taliaferro from behind and Brice McCain scooped up the fumble and returned it 26 yards to the Baltimore 27. Roethlisberger flipped a back-shoulder throw in the front left corner of the end zone to LeVeon Bell lined up in the slot, with Ravens linebacker C. Yannick Ngakoue Jaguars Jersey. J. Mosley covering him on 3rd-and-goal for a 5-yard score. Pittsburgh linebacker James Harrison hit Flacco as he threw from the blind side and Jason Worilds, who dropped back in coverage on the zone blitz, hauled in the easy interception to put the ball at the Baltimore 30. Roethlisberger hit Bryant on a post corner route in the front left corner of the end zone to make it 14-7 Steelers with 5:30 left until the break. When you put guys in that part of the field, they are going to have a chance to make some big plays, Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said. Justin Tucker nailed a 46-yard field goal on Baltimores ensuing march, but Roethlisberger lofted a beautifully thrown pass right into the waiting arms of Markus Wheaton along the right sideline for a 47-yard score a possession later. The extra-point snap was bobble by Brad Wing, but he was able to compose himself and hit Matt Spaeth in the right flat for two points. The third quarter went scoreless, but Brown caught a 54-yard TD pass early in the fourth. Brown hauled in an out route on Ravens cornerback Chykie Brown along the right sideline, cut back into the middle and stiff armed safety Will Hill before racing past the rest of the secondary for his touchdown. Jacoby Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 108 yards to cut the gap to 29-17. Bryants 18-yard TD catch, Crockett Gilmores 1-yard TD reception -- Baltimores two-point try following Gillmores score was unsuccessful -- and Spaeths 33-yard score capped the scoring. Earlier, following a 25-yard Jones punt return, Flacco hit a streaking Torrey Smith along the right sideline to open the scoring just over five minutes into the game. Game Notes Steelers Hall of Fame defensive lineman Joe Greene has his No. 75 retired at halftime ... Bell carried the ball 10 times for 20 yards and caught five passes for 38 yards. He didnt eclipse 100 total yards for the first time this season ... Smith had four receptions for 63 yards ... Pittsburgh was 6-of-14 on third down, while Baltimore finished 3-of-13.
