(SportsNetwork. https://www.cheapkingsbasketball.com/" class="TyTxtSmlC">Kings Jerseys 2020 .com) - The Edmonton Oilers will seek to cool off the red-hot New York Rangers on Thursday night when they visit Madison Square Garden. The Oilers, who currently are in last place in the West, have won four of their last five games and recently posted a 3-2 regulation decision in Buffalo. After losing 4-0 in Boston on Saturday to begin its four-game road trip, a swing that will carry the club into the Olympic break, the Oilers bounced back with Mondays win over the Sabres. Matt Hendricks scored the winner in the third period to help Edmonton edge Buffalo at First Niagara Center. Jeff Petry and Justin Schultz also scored for the Oilers, while Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 42 shots in the win. "He played great because we put him behind the eight ball a lot with all the penalties we took and shots we gave up," said Schultz of Bryzgalov. "He really came up big several times tonight." The Oilers went 0-for-5 on the power play, but killed off five of Buffalos six chances with the extra man. Ben Scrivens is expected to be back between the pipes for the Oilers on Thursday. Scrivens is 2-3-0 with a 2.21 goals against average and .944 save percentage in five games with Edmonton since coming over last month in a trade with Los Angeles. The 27-year-old netminder set an NHL record for saves in a regular-season shutout with 59 stops in a 3-0 win over San Jose on Jan. 29, but he yielded four goals on 41 shots in Saturdays setback in Boston. Edmonton improved to 9-19-4 as the visiting team this season. The Oilers will close their pre-Olympic schedule with Fridays game in New Jersey. The Oilers have won three of the last five meetings in the series with the Rangers overall, but New York has taken two of three and six of the last eight encounters in the Big Apple. The last time Edmonton visited MSG was on Nov. 14, 2010, when the Rangers picked up a victory with an 8-2 rout. The Rangers have earned four straight victories and the current winning streak gives New York wins in seven of nine and 10 of its past 13 games. The Blueshirts have won three of the four tilts during their recent hot streak by three or more goals and are outscoring the opposition by an 18-6 margin during that span. New York hasnt won five in a row since the 2011-12 season when it went 5-0 from Dec. 30-Jan. 10 of that campaign. Despite their recent hot play, the second-place Rangers still find themselves 17 points behind Pittsburgh for the Metropolitan Division lead. New York is three points in front of Columbus for the divisions second spot and also three clear of the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. Ryan Callahan played a standout role for the Rangers in their most recent win, as the team captain shook off recent trade rumors to score a pair of first- period goals that set the tone in Tuesdays 5-1 home rout of the Colorado Avalanche. Callahan, mentioned as a possible candidate to be moved prior to the upcoming trade deadline due to his unrestricted free agent status at seasons end, also added an assist on Brad Richards late tally to help the Rangers record their longest win streak of the season. Richards and Derick Brassard each posted a goal and assist and Anton Stralman also lit the lamp for New York. Henrik Lundqvist did his part as well between the pipes, turning back 27-of-28 shots in the triumph. "We had a real strong start," Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault remarked. "Obviously we were meeting a team that was tired and we were fresh. It was their third game in four nights, but we came out the way I thought we needed to come out and that was a determining factor tonight." The Rangers, who are 14-13-3 at MSG this season, will try to complete a three- game homestand tonight with a perfect record. New York will play its final tilt before the Olympic break Friday night in Pittsburgh. https://www.cheapkingsbasketball.com/" class="TyTxtSmlC">Wholesale Kings Jerseys .com Tours Nova Scotia Open. Now what for the New York Jets? Well, they have less than two weeks to solve their big quarterback question before they face Tampa Bay on Sept. 8 in the regular-season opener. "We said from Day 1 that there was no timetable on us announcing a starting quarterback," coach Rex Ryan said Monday. And, theres no rush, of course -- except when you consider that the preseason is nearly over and the Jets still have no clarity on the situation. Smith was given an opportunity to possibly seize the starting job last Saturday against the Giants, but came up with a dismal performance that included three interceptions and taking a safety when he stepped out of the back of the end zone. Sanchez, who appeared in great shape to win the competition, is now recovering from a shoulder injury suffered in garbage time against the Giants -- and could keep him out for the start of the season. It is conceivable, of course, that the Jets could keep everyone -- the media, fans and opponents -- guessing until the Friday before their game against the Buccaneers. "Well probably have our decision before that," Ryan said. "But as we said, were not going to rush the decision until were completely comfortable with that decision. And, well stay with that. "Hey, I dont know what else to say about it." Ryan is probably a bit surprised hes even still talking about the competition at this point. After all, it was deemed an "open competition" that would be decided when one of the quarterbacks had elevated himself above the other. But, it has been so tightly contested that there was no clear opening, an opportunity for most observers to say, "Thats the guy." Until Saturday night. Thats when Smith showed his inexperience in his first NFL start with some jitters, mistakes and missteps through three-plus quarters. "It (was) pretty uneven," Smith said. "I had some ups and downs. Its all a part of the learning curve." Its a curve that could continue through Thursdays game against Philadelphia and into Week 1 against Tampa Bay. Ryan said the Jets havent yet determined whos playing against the Eagles, but Sanchez will certainly not. Many fans and media assumed Sanchez, with a solid camp and preseason performance, had clinched the starting job after Smiths performance. But then, Ryan wanted to see more of Sanchez, who went into the game and had his right shoulder crunched by Marvin Austin after completing a pass with less than 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Sanchez is day to day with the injury, which neither he nor Ryan would detaiil. https://www.cheapkingsbasketball.com/1372b-trevor-ariza-jersey-kings.html" class="TyTxtSmlC">Trevor Ariza Jersey. . Sanchez is staying positive, though, about potentially being ready for the season opener. "Thats the goal," Sanchez said. "Every injury is different. Its all subjective at this point, and Im going to do everything I possibly can. Thats all I can promise." Sanchez refused to speculate about possibly losing the starting job, which he has held since coming into the league in 2009, because of the injury. He also wouldnt go into what type of rehabilitation process he faces. "Emotionally, youre just upset, and thats really where your heads at," he said. "Youre just upset to be hurt. You never want to be hurt. You work too hard to get hurt and its just a bummer. So, you just rebound, rehab your butt off and get back as soon as possible." And, if hes not ready to go against Tampa Bay, the starter could be Smith -- by default. One things for sure: It wont be either Greg McElroy or Matt Simms, who has had an impressive camp while competing for the No. 3 job. Smith has shown some promise this preseason, and come a long way with improving his footwork and picking up Marty Mornhinwegs offence. The Jets claimed they needed much more film on Smith to better evaluate him after he sat out a game with a sprained ankle, and they certainly got it against the Giants. "With Geno, there was the good, the bad and the ugly," Ryan said. The good was the two scoring drives he led in the 24-21 overtime win, including a 22-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. The bad was the interceptions, although Ryan credited Justin Tuck for making a "great play" on one of them. As for the ugly, that was the safety when Smith lost track of his surroundings on the field. Despite all of that, Smith insisted that if the decision came that he would be the Week 1 starter, hed be ready to lead the Jets. "Yes, I am," he said. "Ive been working hard, extremely hard this off-season. Im preparing myself to be a starter Week 1 and if Im given the chance, Ill be prepared for it." Sanchez, meanwhile, wouldnt say whether he thought he had won the starting job before his injury. "I feel like Ive put together a great camp and its been my best camp," he said. "That decision is going to be up to the coaches. So, well see." ---- NOTES: WR Santonio Holmes, taken off the physically unable to perform list last Friday, participated in positional drills as he works his way back from a foot injury suffered in Week 4 last season. ...
