Mexico City, Mexico (SportsNetwork. Justin Braun Sharks Jersey .com) - Christina Kim fired a second-round, 3-under 69 on Friday and she was able to hang on and maintain her 1-shot lead heading into the weekend at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Kim, who entered the day one shot ahead of Azahara Munoz, finished 36 holes at 10-under-par 134 at Club de Golf Mexico. Kim has not won on tour since taking home the Tournament of Champions title back in 2005. Paula Creamer was the biggest threat to Kim on Friday as she held the lead by herself at one point. Creamer finished the day with a 7-under 65 and she is alone in second at 9-under 135. Suzann Pettersen also had a strong day, shooting a 6-under 66 and jumping into a tie for third place with Pornanong Phatlum (6, 17-year-old LPGA Rookie of the Year Lydia Ko (69) and Munoz (71). World No. 1 Inbee Park is alone in 10th at 4-under 140 after a 70 on Friday, while world No. 2 Stacy Lewis (70) is tied for 27th at 2-over 146. Defending champion Lexi Thompson (72) is eight shots back at minus-2 and she is tied for 14th with four others. After going bogey free on day one, Kim tripped to a couple bogeys on Friday, but she was able to hold on to her lead. Kim started her day on fire, however, as she drained three birdies on her first four holes on one, two and four. Following a pair of pars on five and six, Kim dropped two shots in three holes with bogeys on seven and nine, putting her at 8-under as she made the turn. Kim was able to put her game in cruise control on the back nine. Following a trio of pars from 10, Kim made her fourth gain on the par-4 13th. Another pair of pars on 14 and 15 preceded Kims fifth and final birdie of the day on 16, which broke a tie with Creamer atop the leaderboard. Kim finished up with two pars to remain in the lead after 36 holes. Yesterday I was lucky enough to have two eagles so that immediately made the score a lot better. And I had no bogeys yesterday, Kim said. Today I had two bogeys. Its just difficult when youre in the lead and theres such a fantastic field and everyones coming after you. Its been a while since Ive been in this position. And just trying to get back into it. Just enjoying myself. Creamer finished day one with a 2-under 70, but she made up for it with a very strong day on Friday. Creamer also began her day well with three birdies in her first four holes on one, three and four, getting her well into red numbers early. Following three straight pars from five, Creamer rolled in her fourth gain on the par-4 eighth before closing out the front nine with a par on nine. It was more of the same on the back side for Creamer. After another par on 10, Creamer made three more birdies in four holes on 11, 13 and 14. The birdie on 14 gave Creamer a lead at 9-under before Kim later made a gain on 13 to tie. Creamer ended her round strong with four straight pars to end one shot behind the leader after Kims final birdie on 16. I just have a lot of confidence, Creamer said about her putting. Im really, my routine and what I do when Im over the ball is the same every time. Its more about speed instead of thinking about my stroke or thinking about this. I know that its solid and weve been working really hard on that. Its more of a confidence and seeing the ball go in the hole. NOTES: Creamer finished runner-up to Michelle Wie at this event back in 2009 ... Creamer has one win this season at the HSBC Womens Champions ... Wie (69) is eight shots behind the leader Kim at 2-under 142 through two rounds ... After making eagles on two and 17 Thursday, Kim played those two holes at 1- under with one birdie Friday. A top pitching prospect, one who the ball club is pinning some of its future hopes, takes the spot of a veteran who once was viewed as a future ace but who, to this point, hasnt realized his potential and may never. DENVER -- John Lackey was originally going to throw an inning simply to stay sharp. That plan was changed to a full-fledged start, to keep in rhythm. Only, this wasnt exactly the outing he was looking for with the post-season drawing near. Lackey allowed three solo homers, including one to Charlie Blackmon, the first batter he faced, as the Boston Red Sox fell to the Colorado Rockies 8-3 on Tuesday night. "Not our best night from the mound," manager John Farrell said. "I thought John made a couple of mistakes that he had to pay for, particularly in a ball park where you put the ball in the air and its going to carry." Even more, Lackey (10-13) struggled on the road again, allowing four runs and six hits in six innings. The right-hander is 1-5 away from Fenway Park since the All-Star break. Lackey also surrendered solo homers to Troy Tulowitzki and Corey Dickerson. Not that hes too concerned with this performance. "Im good to go," Lackey said. "Feel good." Tyler Chatwood (8-5) shut down a potent Red Sox lineup as he gave up one unearned run and three hits before being pulled for a pinch hitter with a 4-1 lead in the seventh. The Rockies went on to score four times that inning to seal the win, with DJ LeMahieu and Michael Cuddyer delivering two-run singles. Cuddyer finished the night 2 for 4 with a double to raise his average to an NL-best .335. For the Rockies, this was a confidence-inducing victory. "For sure. Boston is a great team, going into the playoffs," Dickerson said. "You want to play well, show our resilience as a team and to play hard to the last game." With the AL East title wrapped up, the Red Sox are now focused on securing the best record in the league. They maintain a one-game lead over Oakland after the Athletics lost 3-0 to the Los Angeles Angels. Farrell is using these last few games as a way figure out his final post-season roster spots. Farrell said there are a couple still up for grabs. David Ortiz played first base instead of Mike Napoli without the use of a designated hitter. Ortiz showed off his glove, too, snaring a scorching liner from Dickerson to end the sixth. Chatwood pitched carefully to the dangerous Ortiz, even intentionally walkking him in first with a runner on second. Chris Tierney Jersey. The ploy worked as Jarrod Saltalamacchia grounded out. Later, Ortiz hit a fly to the deepest part of the park, but Blackmon tracked it down. The only mistake Chatwood made wasnt on the mound but covering first base in the seventh. With two outs and Will Middlebrooks on second, Todd Helton made a diving stop on Jackie Bradley Jr.s grounder and quickly flipped it to Chatwood, who dropped the ball before stepping on the base. Chatwood scooped it up and threw wide to home plate and into the Red Sox dugout, allowing Middlebrooks to score. Chatwood was charged with two errors on the play and Bradley advanced to third. But Chatwood escaped more damage when his wild pitch bounced off the wall behind home plate, allowing catcher Jordan Pacheco to quickly field the ball and flick it to Chatwood, who tagged out Bradley, keeping the score 4-1. "That lineup is really tough," Chatwood said. "Youve got to execute every pitch." Blackmon, the reigning NL player of the week, began the game with a homer to right on a fastball from Lackey. Cuddyer soon followed with a double and scored on Heltons single. Helton clapped his hands after his hit as the crowd roared. The first baseman will retire at the end of the season after 17 years with the Rockies. Before the game, Helton said he didnt "do nostalgia" and didnt want to reflect back on his career just yet. He holds virtually every hitting category in Rockies history and will play his final home game Wednesday night. Helton nearly was a member of the Red Sox had a rumoured trade before the 2007 season taken place. That was the season the Red Sox went on to sweep the Rockies to capture the World Series title. Asked how close he was to being in a Boston uniform, Helton said: "I have no idea. You have to talk to the people that were making the decisions." NOTES: Saltalamacchia hit a two-run homer in the ninth after Ortiz singled. ... Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (right foot) may return to the lineup as soon as Wednesday. ... Rockies owner Dick Monfort is pleased with the performance of first-year manager Walt Weiss and hopes he returns. Monfort said the sides have yet to talk about a new deal.
