VANCOUVER - Daniel and Henrik Sedin werent in top form on Thursday night, but the talented twins showed up when it mattered most. Ben Gedeon Youth Jersey .Daniel Sedin took a delicate feed from brother Henrik off the rush and roofed a shot past Carey Price on the power play at 2:45 of overtime as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Montreal Canadiens 3-2.The winner came after Vancouver blew a 2-0 lead late in the third period — including Max Paciorettys game-tying goal with the Sedins on the ice with less than three minutes to go in regulation. Our line can play better, said Henrik Sedin. We really should have won this game after 60 minutes. There were just five seconds left in an interference penalty assessed to Montreal defenceman Tom Gilbert when Daniel Sedin swooped in and ended what was an entertaining, fast-paced affair. When their games not a good game its still not a bad game, Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins said of his stars. Maybe it wasnt quite to their standards but it was a pretty good game.Added Daniel Sedin: You should not give up a 2-0 lead at home (but) it happens. We stuck with our game plan and it paid off.Nick Bonino and Brad Richardson also scored for Vancouver (7-3-0), which got 22 saves from Ryan Miller.Alex Galchenyuk had the other goal for Montreal (8-2-1), while Price stopped 27 shots.I like the way we competed tonight, said Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien. We never gave up and gave ourselves a chance to win this hockey game with the comeback.Up 1-0 after two periods, Richardson stretched Vancouvers lead to two at 2:17 of the third off the rush, ripping a shot over Prices glove shortside a few minutes after Alexandre Burrows hit the post behind the Montreal goaltender. The visitors cut the deficit to 2-1 at 12:11 when Galchenyuk tipped home is fourth of the season past Miller off a shot from P.K. Subban. The Canucks argued to the referees that Miller — who knows the Canadiens well from his time with the Buffalo Sabres — had been interfered with by Montreals Brendan Gallagher in the crease. The goal came much to the delight of the boisterous Canadiens fans in attendance, who were enjoying their teams only visit to Vancouver this season and were in full voice for most of the night. That was a fun game. You kind of dont like it, but you like it, Miller said of the atmosphere. Toronto or the Habs, in Buffalo we got a lot of that. Its kind of cool. Hockey has such a deep following.Montreal kept pushing and got its tying goal with 2:33 remaining when former Canucks forward Dale Weise made a nice pass to Pacioretty, who made no mistake from the slot for his fourth.I thought we played a pretty good third period for quite a bit of it, said Desjardins. Thats the way the game goes sometimes. Montreal is a good team. Theyre creative and they put lots of pressure on your defence. After a scoreless first, the Canucks grabbed the lead at 8:29 of the second on a play that left the Canadiens fuming.Montreal defenceman Alexie Emelin made a pass up the middle that was intercepted by Bonino to create a 2-on-1 the other way with Derek Dorsett. Burrows drilled an off-balance Emelin with a high check after he released the puck, appearing to make contact with his head. There was no penalty on the play and as Emelin lay on the ice, Bonino finished off a nice passing play for his fourth of the season behind a helpless Price.Emelin went to the locker-room for the rest of the period, but returned in the third.I was trying to finish my check and my intent was not to hurt him, said Burrows, who added he didnt think the hit was late. Obviously you never want to hurt someone and Im glad he came back.Im not going to speculate on what people are going to say. My intent was not to hurt him.Not surprisingly, Therrien took a decidedly different view.We all saw the hit to the head on Emelin and instead of having a power play of five minutes the puck is in your own net, said the coach. That was a dirty hit to the head.Vancouvers Shawn Matthias rang a shot off the post behind Price earlier in the period before Miller made a great save off Gallagher on a power play. The Canadiens were coming off a 2-1 shootout victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday, and Price had to be sharp to keep the deficit at just one in the dying seconds of the period, shooting out an arm to deflect a quick shot from Bonino out of play.We cant be upset with our effort tonight, I thought we competed hard, said Subban. We had opportunities to win the hockey game, thats all you can ask.Montreal recorded the games first three shots, but it was Vancouver that had the first real chance when Dorsett cut in off the wing on a partial breakaway, only to lose control at the critical moment in front of Price.Acquired in a trade with Vancouver last season, Weise nearly had a dream return four minutes in on another break, but couldnt get a shot away after taking a slash from Canucks defenceman Kevin Bieska.Vancouvers Jannik Hansen saw his shot on a 2-on-1 stopped by Price at the other end moments later, but the Canadiens goaltender saved his best work for the final flurry of the first period.Chris Higgins fed Bonino right in front of Price, who had to stretch to stop the Canucks forward and was sharp again on Dan Hamhuis buzzer-beater shot from the point. That brought chants of Carey! Carey! from the Montreal fans who dotted the stands and drowned out their Canucks counterparts with three raucous Go Habs Go chants in the opening 20 minutes alone. When you have an atmosphere like that and a team with that kind of tradition its fun, said Desjardins. At the same time you want to see how your guys respond and I think we responded pretty well.Notes: Vancouver visits the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday before hosting the Nashville Predators on Sunday. ... Montreal welcomes Calgary on Sunday. ... The Canadiens host the Canucks on Dec. 9 in the clubs only other meeting this season. Pat Elflein Vikings Jersey . Some members of the U.S. Congress arent so sure. Russia may run greater risks in towns outside the tightly controlled Olympic zone. Off-Season Game Plan looks at what the Blue Jackets may do to build upon last seasons success to return to the playoffs again next year.ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Its been almost a decade since the Anaheim Ducks lost at home to Calgary. Dustin Penner and his teammates were happy to extend the streak. Penner scored two goals and Saku Koivu had two assists in his long-awaited return to the lineup, leading the Ducks to a 5-2 victory Friday over Calgary -- their 18th straight over the Flames at Honda Center. The streak is the Ducks longest in their building against any opponent. Calgary hasnt beaten Anaheim on the road since Jan. 19, 2004; only three players on Calgarys current roster had made their NHL debut by then: Michael Cammalleri, Jiri Hudler and Matt Stajan. "I had no idea, but we know theyre in a rebuild mode now with a lot of young guys and those guys are working real hard and fighting for jobs," said Penner, who had the 13th multigoal game of his career. "A team like that can come in and surprise you if youre not ready." The Ducks were not assessed a penalty for only the fifth time in club history. "That was good," captain Ryan Getzlaf said. "We were using our legs a lot more, and I think we did a better job of keeping our mouths shut and staying off the referees. That helps, because you dont get distracted and get lazy." Sami Vatanen and Corey Perry scored 54 seconds apart in the first period. Perry and Andrew Cogliano each had a goal and an assist during Anaheims 42-shot barrage, and rookie Frederik Andersen made 19 saves for the defending Pacific Division champions, who are off to a franchise-best 10-0-1 start at home. Anaheim is the only NHL team that hasnt lost at home in regulation. New Jersey beat the Ducks 4-3 in overtime on Nov. 20. Ladislav Smid and David Jones scored second-period goals for the Flames. They have won only two of 11 games since beating the Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks in overtime on Nov. 3 at Chicago. "I didnt know we had such a tough go here, but they are a good team," Jones said. "They have a lot of talent with that big line out there -- the Getzlaf line -- and they kind of exploited us out there." Calgary played without impressive rookie Sean Monahan, sidelined with a non-displaced hairline fracture in his left foot. Flames defenceman Dennis Wideman also missed his first game of the season because of a broken left hand. "We dont want to make any excuses with injuries. Every team goes through that, and other guys just have to step up and be leaders," Smid said. "I thought we were really flat in the first period. We had a good talk between periods and I thought we came back stronger in the second. But we made some mistakes, had some turnovers and it pretty much cost us the game." Anaheim centre Nick Bonino, who signed a three-year, $5.7 mmillion contract extension Thursday, got an assist on Penners first goal to help the Ducks extend their lead to 3-0. Dalvin Cook Womens Jersey. Getzlaf faked a 50-foot slap shot on a power play and found Penner at the left of the crease. Penner then put the game away at 11:24 of the third with his ninth of the season and fifth in three games. "Hes playing great," Getzlaf said. "When he came back here, he wasnt necessarily ready to play this season -- and he knows that. But he put his work in. He skated after practice and did his bike rides -- everything he needed to do to be in shape to play 19-20 minutes a night. So everythings going along properly and were working together really well." The Ducks, who gave up three third-period goals in a 53-second span Tuesday at Dallas, were outshooting Calgary 20-6 with a 3-0 lead when Smid got his second goal of the season. "We needed a rebound game," Getzlaf said. "Its not about where they are in the standings. We just had to get back to our game at home. I mean, I didnt even know about this streak until the last game when somebody brought it up to me. We dont worry about that stuff. We didnt even talk about that before the game." Koivu, who missed 15 games with a concussion, started on a line between Cogliano and Daniel Winnik. Cogliano finished off a 2-on-1 rush with Winnik midway through the second period, beating Reto Berra with a short backhander to the stick side. "Physically, I felt surprisingly good," Koivu said. "Coming back from a concussion, which is a first for me, I was a little hesitant in the first period. Then in the second half I felt a little more comfortable. You can only get so much contact in practice. You need a couple games to really see how you feel. But tonight I felt fine." Jones narrowed the gap to 4-2 less than 4 minutes later with an unassisted goal after Koivus turnover. But Penner put it away in the third period, causing Calgary coach Bob Hartley to replace Berra with Karri Ramo. "We had no answer for the Getzlaf, Perry and Penner line. Those guys basically dominated us the entire game," Hartley said. "They are a big team, they crash the net, generate lots of traffic and just grind it out. I dont think any goalies would have made a difference. It was already planned that Karri Ramo was going to start tomorrow, so that is why we put him in after their fifth goal."
