ALAMEDA, Calif. http://www.galaxymlsshop.com/Authentic-Baggio-Husidic-Jersey/ . -- For a franchise with a frustrating history of post-season flops, the latest collapse sent the San Jose Sharks to a new low. The Sharks became the fourth team in NHL history to lose a best-of-seven series after winning the first three games, getting overwhelmed at home in a 5-1 loss in Game 7 on Wednesday night to start a pivotal off-season for a team looking to shed the label of playoff underachievers. "We obviously dont want to hear that kind of stuff, but what are we going to say? We were on the wrong side of history tonight," defenceman Brad Stuart said. "Its tough for us to argue with anything thats said. We let ourselves down, we let the fans down, we let everybody in our organization down. Its not a good feeling. Theres not really much else you can say about it." San Jose has the second most regular-season wins in the NHL the past 10 seasons but has never made it past the conference finals. There was the first-round loss to Anaheim in 2009 after posting the best record in the league in the regular season, second-round losses to inferior teams like Edmonton in 2006 and Dallas two years later, and three defeats in the conference final when that elusive Stanley Cup seemed so close. Yet this might have been the most bitter of all, considering it came against a fierce rival and after the Sharks looked so strong in taking a 3-0 series lead. "Every year you lose is pretty low, but this one is a type of series that will rip your heart out," forward Logan Couture said. "It hurts. Its going to be a long summer thinking about this one and what we let slip away." San Jose outscored the Kings 17-8 to win the first three games but was barely competitive in the final four contests. The Sharks were outscored 16-3 over the final 3 1/2 games to join Detroit (1942), Pittsburgh (1975) and Boston (2010) as the only teams to blow a 3-0 series lead. The only bright side might be that Detroit and Boston both won it all the year after their collapses. "Its just so disappointing that we were able to go up 3-0 and not find a way to have that killer instinct, to find a way to scrape and claw and win games like they did," Couture said. "Its tough saying it, but I think the better team won the series. They were better than us." The Sharks took the day off Thursday to regroup before going through the annual routine of exit meetings and cleanup on Friday where they will start looking for answers for why they fell short once again. Defenceman Dan Boyle might leave as a free agent and forward Marty Havlat could have the final year of his contract bought out. But the biggest questions will be about the status of coach Todd McLellan and general manager Doug Wilson. While the Sharks did a good job dealing with injuries to finish tied for the fourth-most points in the regular season, they couldnt get it done in the playoffs. "Im in charge, Im responsible for the group that performs on the ice," McLellan said. "I have to accept that responsibility. When we break down the series, Im not going to throw any individuals or group of individuals under the bus, because we lost it collectively. But Im responsible for that group." The biggest issue was the lack of production from the top players in the final four games. Captain Joe Thornton, linemate Brent Burns and Couture had no points in the final four games and Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski didnt have a goal or an assist in the last three. The power-play went 0-for-15 in the final three games, including four blown chances in the second period of Game 7 when the Sharks were either ahead or tied. It added up to a second straight Game 7 loss to the Kings. "We were a lot closer last year than we were this year," McLellan said. "Were kidding ourselves if we think we were closer this year, just because it went seven games. ... It wasnt even close. We had a core group of individuals that didnt get on the score sheet. Last year was a lot closer than it was this year." http://www.galaxymlsshop.com/Authentic-Robbie-Rogers-Jersey/ .twitter.com/pktadV04iu — Philadelphia 76ers (@Sixers) August 20, 2014 Splash Brothers #NBAMovies pic. http://www.galaxymlsshop.com/Authentic-Steven-Gerrard-Jersey/ . Davis had 25 points, eight rebounds, a career-high six blocks and five assists to lead New Orleans to a 105-84 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday night, its first win changing its nickname to Pelicans. http://www.galaxymlsshop.com/Authentic-Alan-Gordon-Jersey/ . He then tried the other side of the ice, and that worked out quite well for him and the Chicago Blackhawks. Bickell had a goal and two assists, and the Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild 4-1 on Sunday to take a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference semifinals.SIAULIAI, Lithuania -- Pau Gasol is in dominant form and defending champion Spain has a perfect record after two games at the European Championship. So do Germany and France, among others. The Los Angeles Lakers centre scored 20 points in Spains 87-73 victory over Portugal on Thursday, the teams second win in two games. France overwhelmed Israel 85-68 for its second win of the 24-team tournament that will also produce two qualifiers for next years London Olympics. Tony Parker, the San Antonio Spurs guard, topped France with 21 points. "As soon as Tony took over, it was over for us," Israel coach Arik Shivak said. Germany is perfect too, thanks to double-double games from its NBA stars, Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Kaman. Nowitzki finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds and Kaman had 17 points and 17 rebounds in Germanys 76-62 win over Italy, which dropped to 0-2. Kaman had 10 points and eight rebounds in a big fourth quarter. Germany finished the game with a 14-2 run. "What can you say about Dirk? He just did his thing again," said Kaman, the Los Angeles Clippers centre. "In the fourth quarter we finished the game strong. Dirk had a good all-around game and I finally got it going a bit in the fourth quarter. We got a good win." Nowitzki was the MVP of the NBA finals as his Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat. Nowitzki and Kaman had 12 of Germanys 16 points in the first quarter. But Nowitzki didnt score again until three minutes left in the second, nailing one of his fade-away jumpers in a three-point play for a 29-28 Germany lead. Nowitzki converted two free throws to give Germany a 36-30 halftime lead, scoring 14. Nowitzki did not score again until late in the third quarter, but that jumper gave Germany a 46-45 lead. Germanys NBA stars had eight points in the final run. But Johannes Herber nailed a key three-pointer with 1:36 left that gave Germany a seven-point lead and secured the win. Danilo Gallinari of the Denver Nuggets led Italy with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Andrea Bargnani of the Toronto Raptors scored eight points and had five rebounds. Serbia went 2-0 by beating Latvia 92-77 and Turkey is also perfect after defeating Britain 90-61. Russia and Greece are 2-0 as well. Russia defeated Georgia 65-58 and Greece beat Finland 81-61. Vlado Ilievski made a jumper with 10 seconds remaining to lift Macedonia to a 78-76 upset win over CCroatia in Group C. http://www.galaxymlsshop.com/Authentic-Todd-Dunivant-Jersey/. . Both teams are 1-1. Slovenia fought off a late rally to beat Ukraine (0-2) 68-64 behind centres Mirza Begic and Erazem Lorbek combining for 26 points. Slovenia is also 2-0. Host Lithuania won its second, beating winless Poland 97-77. Mirza Teletovic had 23 points, including 11 in the last seven minutes, and Nihad Dedovic added 19 as Bosnia-Herzegovina went 1-1 in Group C by beating Montenegro (1-1) 94-86. Bulgaria edged Belgium 68-65 in a game between two underdogs that saw 18 lead changes. California-native Earl Rowland led Bulgaria with 22 points. Spain pulled away early and never looked back against its Iberian neighbour in a game not nearly as close as the final score would indicate. The much smaller Portugal team, the last to qualify, could not handle Gasol and his brother Marc of the Memphis Grizzlies, who had 10 points and nine rebounds. Juan Carlos Navarro contributed 19 points for Spain, whose three leaders sat out most of the second half and the entire fourth quarter. "In the first three quarters we lost some defensive rebounds that we shouldnt have lost," Spain coach Sergio Scariolo said. "We struggled against the zone at times. But overall we reached our goal, to have two wins after two games." In Group B, France used four NBA players as starters and cruised past Israel. France dominated the boards, pulling down twice as many rebounds at 40. Centre Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls had nine rebounds to go with nine points. Nicolas Batum of Portland Trail Blazers added 15 points for France and Mickael Gelabale had 13. Lior Eliyahu and Yotam Halperin had 15 each for Israel, which fell to 0-2. "We are happy about this game. It could have been a trap," said Charlotte Bobcats forward Boris Diaw, who had eight rebounds. "We didnt relax. We took this game really seriously. Only bad thing we did was turnovers (14). We shot the ball very well." Before a raucous crowd three years after Russia and Georgia fought a war, Utah Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko carried the day for Russia, scoring 20 points that included a key three-point play with two minutes left that put Russia ahead by seven. Georgia failed to capitalize on Russias poor play in the fourth quarter, when it went scoreless in the first six minutes. Manuchar Markoishvili had 21 points for Georgia.
