Tennis Canada announced the names of the players slated to compete in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Americas Zone Group I matches to be held in Curitiba, Brazil from January 30 to February 4, 2012. http://www.vikingsauthenticonline.com/Youth-Laquon-Treadwell-Elite-Jersey/ . Stephanie Dubois (Laval, QC), Sharon Fichman (Toronto, ON), Rebecca Marino (Vancouver, BC) and Aleksandra Wozniak (Blainville, QC) were chosen to represent the nation by team captain Sylvain Bruneau. "We came very close to reaching World Group I last year and now its time to get back to our winning ways after two tough losses in 2012," said Bruneau. "I have confidence in the depth and experience of my team. We are aiming for a spot in the World Group for 2013 and we will get there by taking one step at a time." Member of the Miele Canadian Fed Cup team since 2004, Dubois has racked up 21 wins and eight losses. Currently ranked no. 97 on the WTA rankings, Dubois enjoyed the best season of her career in 2011, finishing the year inside the Top 100 for the first time. However, a stress fracture in her foot forced Dubois to shut down her season in September. Fichman, 21 years old, has earned fourteen victories compared to just three losses since making her Fed Cup debut in 2005. She also boasts an 11-1 record in matches played on clay. She currently sits at no. 168 in singles and no. 99 in doubles on the world rankings. Marino made her Fed Cup debut last year, posting a record of two wins and three losses. At no. 64 on the WTA rankings, the 21 year-old is the top ranked player on the squad. Marino put together a breakthrough 2011 campaign, reaching a carrer best ranking of no. 38 in July. Wozniak boasts an impressive Fed Cup record of 35 wins and eight losses. Her 28 triumphs in singles and 35 total victories are both Canadian Fed Cup records. She is also the most experienced player on the team having played 13 ties for Canada in her career. Currently ranked no. 107 in the world, Wozniak won the $100,000 Odlum Brown Van Open in Vancouver last summer. In 2011, Canada lost 3-2 to Serbia in the first round of World Group II and the team was relegated to Americas Zone Group I for 2012 following another 3-2 loss at the hands of Slovenia in a World Group II playoff tie last April. Canada joins Argentina, the Bahamas, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela on the clay courts in Curitiba, Brazil for the Americas Group I zonal event. The participating nations will be divided into two groups of four teams. The winners of each group will then face off for the chance to take part in a World Group II playoff tie in April 2012 while the two lowest ranking teams will be sent to Group II of the Americas Zone in 2013. http://www.vikingsauthenticonline.com/Youth-Stefon-Diggs-Elite-Jersey/ . - Corey Perry got to 40 goals and helped the Anaheim Ducks reach 50 wins. http://www.vikingsauthenticonline.com/Youth-Andrew-Sendejo-Elite-Jersey/ . -- Despite being only two games above . SUN CITY, South Africa -- Thomas Bjorn carved out two eagles in his last nine holes, one brilliant and one a little lucky, to come from behind and win the Nedbank Golf Challenge on Sunday, closing with a 65 for 20-under overall and a two-shot victory. Overnight leader Jamie Donaldson of Wales wasted a three-shot advantage with a final-round 70 and tied for second with Sergio Garcia (65). Bjorns sweet five iron into No. 10 set up the first eagle to push him past Donaldson. The Dane had his second on No. 14 after his approach pitched in a bunker and rolled up onto the green. "They were two big moments," Bjorn said. "Obviously having two eagles on the back nine on a Sunday doesnt happen very often. The shot into 14 was a bit fortunate but thats what happens when you win golf tournaments, I guess." The $1.25 million winners check at Sun City is the 42-year-old Bjorns biggest prize and its his 15th European Tour title. Donaldson was bidding to become the first debut winner at Sun City since Zimbabwes Mark McNulty in 1986 but bogeyed No. 9, and couldnt find any more birdies until No. 17. Garcias challenge slipped away with a dropped shot on No. 16 after a run of four straight birdies at the end of his front nine, allowing Bjorn to bogey the last at Gary Player Country Club and still win. Bjorns triumph was hailed by fans in the galleries on No. 18 waving streams of South African flags in late afternoon sunshine on a day dedicated in the country to prayer and reflection following the death of former President Nelson Mandela. http://www.vikingsauthenticonline.com/Youth-Brett-Favre-Elite-Jersey/. The tournament stood for a rendition of the South African anthem at the end. "I think to the whole world he was just an inspiration to human beings. He was a great man," Bjorn said of Mandela at the trophy presentation. "To see what one man can do, its an inspiration to all of us. If we all just did a bit more, this world would be a better place." FedEx Cup and European money list winner Henrik Stenson was fourth on 6 under after his 67 in the No. 3-ranked Swedes first tournament back since ending last season as the worlds best-performing player. Brendon de Jonge (66) was fifth on 15 under and Charl Schwartzel (66) sixth on 13 under, the highest placed South African. Ryan Moore of the United States, another Sun City rookie, was in contention through three rounds before a 73 on Sunday took him back to a tie for seventh with U.S. Open champion Justin Rose. Home favourite and three-time champion Ernie Els had to deal with news of Mandelas passing on Thursday and the death of his former psychological coach on Saturday, and ended with a second straight 77 to finish 12 over par and second from last in the expanded 30-man field. This is the first year the Nedbank has been part of the European Tours schedule.
