In a rematch of last years all-Spanish final, eight-time champion Rafael Nadal once again beat David Ferrer, while another quarterfinal on Wednesday saw Andy Murray hold off French crowd favorite Gael Monfils at Roland Garros. The world No. 1 Nadal improved to 64-1 lifetime at the French Open with a come-from-behind 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, 6-1 victory over his fifth-seeded compatriot Ferrer on Court Lenglen. The match started late in the day after a three-hour rain delay prevented the ladies from taking to the famed clay courts at Chatrier and Lenglen on Day 11. Nadals semifinal opponent on Friday will be the seventh-seeded Wimbledon champion Murray, who outlasted the 23rd-seeded Monfils 6-4, 6-1, 4-6, 1-6, 6-0 on Chatrier. After rolling past four unseeded players, Nadal faced his first big test at the 2014 French championships when he came up against the world No. 5 Ferrer. Ferrer stunned Nadal by taking the first set, but Nadal promptly rebounded to claim the second. The bout then turned into a runaway affair for the reigning champ, who also had to beat out impending darkness in Paris for his 33rd straight match win here. The 13-time Grand Slam winner captured a fourth straight French Open title and eighth overall championship here a year ago by besting Ferrer in the finale. Nadal, who turned 28 on Tuesday, is now 22-6 lifetime against the 32- year-old Ferrer, including a perfect 4-0 mark at Roland Garros. Ferrer upset Nadal on some clay in Monte Carlo back in April. The amazing Nadal is trying to become the first man to capture five straight French Open championships. The Murray-Monfils match was a see-saw affair, as the British star pounced on the Frenchman for a two-sets-to-love lead, only to see the 2008 French Open semifinalist Monfils turn things around by stunningly taking sets three and four. After the fourth set, Murray sat in his chair and complained to the tournament referee about the darkening conditions at 9:20 p.m. local time, but it was decided the two men would play on. Murray appeared to struggle mightily with some sore legs in the fourth set against Monfils, but he showed no signs of problems in a lopsided fifth, which was played out in a mere 24 minutes as the stunned French faithful looked on. The 27-year-old Murray will appear in his second French Open semi. He missed the event last year due to injury. Nadal and Murray will meet for a 20th time on the ATP World Tour, with the mighty Spaniard leading their all-time series, 14-5, including a 5-0 record on clay. Nadal beat the two-time Grand Slam titlist Murray in a French Open semi three years ago. Fridays other semifinal will pit second-seeded former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic against 18th-seeded Ernests Gulbis, who will appear in his first-ever major semi. Djokovic will perform in his sixth French Open final four (1-4) and is 4-1 in his career versus Gulbis. The six-time major champion Djokovic was the French Open runner-up two years ago and still needs this title to complete a career Grand Slam. And if he wins the championship this week he would also reclaim the world No. 1 ranking. The 27-year-old Djokovic is a 22-time Grand Slam semifinalist. The 25-year-old Gulbis is currently riding a nine-match winning streak and already owns a pair of titles in France this season, including one in Nice just one day before the French Open commenced. Hes 13-0 on French soil for the year. Gulbis has not lost to a seeded player at a Grand Slam event since the 2010 Australian Open, compiling a 5-0 mark. Michael Jordan Bulls Jersey . Scott and playing partner Rickie Fowler marked their balls on the 12th fairway after a severe storm warning suspended play with Scott holding a one-shot lead. Coach Jason Garrett said Romo had back surgery Friday, and Kyle Orton will start when Dallas faces Philadelphia on Sunday night with the NFC East title and a post-season berth on the line. The 32-year-old native of Mont-Tremblant, Que., said on his Twitter account that his knee was bothering him. Guay underwent knee surgery over the summer, then returned for the start of the World Cup season after an intensive rehab program.TORONTO - Usually able to block out crowd noise or ignore it, James Reimer heard the fans loud and clear. With 61 seconds left, they were chanting his name after he made his 43rd save of the night.Reimer stopped two more in the final minute to get to 26 in the third period alone and 45 overall as he backstopped the Toronto Maple Leafs to an impressive 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night at Air Canada Centre. He was first star, simple as that, coach Randy Carlyle said of Reimer. They had some point-blank chances and he stood tall to the task. This, the Leafs third straight win, had them feeling good after two strong periods against one of the NHLs most intimidating opponents and one in which they leaned heavily on Reimer. We know theyre obviously a powerhouse team in this league, said centre Peter Holland, who scored the game-winning goal 2:21 into the third period. Youve got to give them a good game if you want to stay in it. I thought we got away from it in the third period a little bit, they started shelling our goalie, but he was there to back us up.Reimer gave up a pair of power-play goals, one in each of the first two periods to Brad Richards and Brent Seabrook. The Leafs (6-4-1) got goals from Nazem Kadri and James van Riemsdyk, and from there Reimer shut the door.Seemingly at his best under siege in the third period, Reimer made sprawling saves on the penalty kill at one point after a shot hit the cross-bar and was stellar amid a flurry of activity in the crease later. Reimer kept telling himself to relax. Its one of those things where obviously the tendency is to get really hyped up and try and work too hard or over-work, he said. The thing is just to stay calm and stay in peace but still keep that competitiveness up to try and fight through the traffic. After keeping things fairly even for the first two periods, the Leafs were outshot 26-7 in the third. On the edge of losing the lead, Reimer was rolling. His composures the biggest thing of why hes able to handle that workload and the pressure thats put on him, Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf said. He was a difference-maker for us tonight, and I cant say enough good things about the way that he played. Right from the drop of the puck he kept us in the game. We did a lot of good things, too, but when we needed him he was there.Chicago coach Joel Quenneville thought the third period was one of his teams best of the season so far. He agreed with Phaneuf that Reimer was the difference.Had the chances, opportunities, missed a lot of tip shots, as well, Quenneville said. You play like that youll find a way to score goals. In goaltender Corey Crawfords first start since Oct. 18 aftter being out with an upper-body injury, the Blackhawks (6-4-1) lost for the fourth time in six games.ddddddddddddYou dont win, obviously theres cause for concern, winger Patrick Kane said. Try to regroup here, weve got a big one tomorrow obviously going home playing Winnipeg, a division game, hopefully our fans give us a little bit of a boost and we can regroup. While the Blackhawks return home to face the Jets, the Leafs will take a day off before travelling west for a two-game road trip against the Arizona Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche.Having won three in a row, the Leafs are feeling much different than they were a week ago after a humiliating performance at home against the Boston Bruins. We couldnt continue to go the way we were going, and our performance against Boston was one where in our minds and in their minds was unacceptable, Carlyle said. The Leafs took care of business against the lowly Buffalo Sabres and then beat the banged-up Columbus Blue Jackets. Saturday night was a major test with the Blackhawks in town, and they were up to the challenge. For us to play that well against a team that good at the end of a back-to-back, I think it shows a lot about the character and the commitment we have in our room right now, Reimer said.In addition to Reimers brilliance, the Leafs needed timely offence. Van Riemsdyks goal was the 100th of his career and 100th point with the Leafs and came in his first-ever game against brother Trevor, a rookie defenceman for the Blackhawks.Hollands goal was his first of the season but fourth in four career games against Chicago.I seem to be a bit of a Blackhawk killer, Holland said. I dont know. Just try and elevate your game against good teams.Notes — Before the game Carlyle said Joffrey Lupul will miss three weeks with a broken bone in his right hand. Lupuls injured hand will remain in a cast for at least 10 days before he can put a glove on it again. ...Sam Carrick was summoned from the AHLs Toronto Marlies to replace Lupul in the lineup and had 4:15 of icetime. ...
